Oh, "I hate you" - said the boy who had just told his younger brother that he wanted to save him, that he wanted to keep keeping him close.

I could paraphrase Hanako's sentence this way, following his real feelings:

He doesn't hate Tsukasa, he hates his choices, his attitudes.

It's no wonder that hate is love's envious twin. So close, there just needs to be a strong hurt for love to transform, pain suffocates love, love suffocates the person, and relief returns in hate.

Aidairo doesn't work with words, she works with actions, words are hidden in actions. Ah, spoken love, the least reliable. Personally, I don't trust this one very much, there are words that survive for a short time, others that exist to impress, the best to demonstrate feelings, and the worst, to deceive.

Allow yourself to observe the touches, the looks, the red skin, the smiles, the tears. They speak more than any words.

Things I noticed while watching High and Low the Worst X again

I was watching High and Low The Worst X while I was on lunch break and then had more realizations and wanted to write about them lol

These are probably nothing new and someone else probably already noticed these but I wanted to make a post about them sooooo

I’ve watched the movie so many times now idk why I just realized the weight of the three scenes I’m about to talk about. But also I feel like I notice something new every time I watch the movies so I'm gonna cut myself some slack.

Amagai being the only character in the movie who genuinely doesn’t have a sense of friendship/comradery with anyone else.

The first time we see the 3 schools alliance meeting is the opening of the movie, and I remember when I first watched the movie I was like "well damn this looks like a solid ass team" only to find out later that they were in fact not really a team lol 😂 but anywaysss

Watching the movie this time I just realized what Fujin says to Amagai in the first scene in the restaurant where the 3 schools are holding their meetings.

Reiji is first to jump up and say "Let's get this brawl started," and Ghandi jumps in telling Amamgai that their troupes and weapons are ready. Shoji laughs and says that weapons are typical Kamasaka behavior which prompts them to jump at him and Fujin, Raijin, and the other Ebara guys jump straight to his defense while Shoji continues sitting. Amagai tells them to "get us more" while tossing the money bundles in their direction.

Every single fuckin character in this scene's facial expressions have me dying because the disbelief on their faces😂

Shoji looking at Amagai like he's full of shit.

Fujin, Raijin, and Ghandi are looking at him like "wtf?"

The background characters are looking at him in disbelief also like I was WHEEZING when I realized this. Back to the characters who are the main focus of this specific camera frame though, Ghandi and Fujin.

Both characters turn to Amagai with the BIGGEST look of disbelief on their faces and Fujin says "You don't trust we can do it huh?"

To which Amagai says "What's the use in trusting you guys?" and goes on a spiel about how being powerful means you trust no one and not even giving them a slight chance. He also goes on to say that being powerful means bringing everyone else down to their knees and tells the other 3 schools "Just shut up and stick with me. I'll show you what it's like to be at the top." Ryo's face when he says this is a whole other conversation for another day.

I'M SORRY BUT THE LOOKS REIJI AND SHOJI GIVE HIM AFTER HIS LITTLE SPIEL HAD ME ROLLING🤣 Like both characters gave him the most judgmental expression and then you got Shoji over here looking away and rolling his eyes PUH-LEASE I AM DEAD🤣

Aside from all of this being extremely funny to me, this plays into my point from above. Yes, all these looks are super funny but it really shows how as "bad" as the other guys are they still run in the same way that Oya and the other S.W.O.R.D gangs do, through friendship and comradery.

Fujin asked "You don't trust we can do it huh?" because Ebara most likely runs on comradery as well. You don't pay someone to do shit for you, they just know to trust each other to get it done. This is a concept that Amagai does not and can not understand because he's been conditioned to believe that the people around him are not worthy of trust or friendship due to his status, they just work for him. As long as he throws money at their feet, they'll do what he wants.

That's like kind of sad actually, the fact that the other "antagonists" of the film still know friendship and he doesn't... I still hate his guts though. We love Ryoki but we don't love his character Amagai.

The way Shoji vs Tsukasa asks Suzaki why he’s working for Amagai

I think everyone can agree that within that 3 school alliance, Shoji Sameoka was the only character with working brain cells (full offense to all the other characters lol no one else in that room had critical thinking skills I swear). From the first meeting we see, the audience can already tell Shoji is the only character who has doubts about this alliance but also questions it; while everyone else has doubts but proceed to just follow Amagai's orders. This eventually leads to Shoji being the one to suggest that Ebara drop out of the alliance because he thinks it’s stupid which then leads to him agreeing to Todoroki’s terms of dropping out of the alliance if Todoroki wins against Fujin and Raijin. I feel like Shoji as a person judges the other characters based on what he knows/hears about them.

We see this when he confronts Suzaki. Shoji asks Suzaki why he would come to Senomon and work under Amagai when he was the one running Nami High. Suzaki tells him to mind his own business. Shoji is asking Suzaki from a place of strength. Based on the dialogue, it seems like Shoji knew Suzaki and Amagai’s reputations before this alliance. I deduce this down to Shoji knowing that Suzaki was the strongest at Nami High and knowing that Amagai isn’t actually physically strong compared to the other characters, he just likes to cause trouble and make others work for him. People fear Amagai not for his strength or skills as a fighter, but simply because he has the money and status to be at the “top”.

This brings me to believe that Shoji was asking why someone as strong as Suzaki would even work under Amagai who is clearly not a match for him strength wise. It seems like Shoji is asking Suzaki why he would be scared of Amagai’s money and work under him when Suzaki is clearly stronger. I think this is because the Ebara guys ranks are based on their strength/who is the strongest (I make this assumption from the fact that Fujin and Raijin are straight up gym bros lol) so Shoji can’t understand why Suzaki is working under someone clearly weaker than him.

Tsukasa’s question is the same….. but also different.

Tsukasa strikes me as someone who really gets to know someone personally to the best of his abilities before he makes his own judgment on them. We see this with Rao in the movie. Tsukasa could’ve taken everyone’s word for it and been like “oh Rao is a big mean monster” but he takes it upon himself to find out who Rao actually is through Mercy. This is how he finds out Rao isn’t actually all that bad like the stories suggests and that Rao fights for good reason (for his siblings). This trait about Tsukasa is why he asks Suzaki why he fights for Amagai but is also why he’s the only one who is able to understand why Suzaki fights for Amagai without a direct answer.

When Tsukasa asks Suzaki why he works for Amagai, he says “why do you work for a guy like him? Does he has some kind of dirt on you?” and Suzaki just keeps quiet. This brings me to believe that Suzaki probably had a reputation for being the strongest at Nani High but also fought people within reason, he didn’t flaunt his strength just because he felt like it.

Tsukasa asked him based off the kind of person he is and not his strength. I'm assuming Ryo fought people within reason and not so much for fun or to assert his dominance over others with his strength, so him working under someone who has as shitty of a personality as Amagai probably threw Tsukasa off a bit.

He is also however able to tell that there is a friendship there even if it isn't great. At the end when Yuken and Todoroki ask why Ryo would work for someone like Amagai, Tsukasa says it's because he means more to Ryo than that. Alluding to the fact that Ryo is doing stuff for Amagai because he sees him as a friend even if everyone else doesn't.

Okay, I'm done now😂 this wasn't as deep as my other analysis because it's not super deep with comparisons or anything like that it was just stuff I noticed while watching the movie again.

I used to really like Tsukasa at the start of the manga but his story went in a direction I hate, so I don’t think I’m the best person to ask about him....

I do have some things to say about the red house, his most ‘completed’ arc, though. So I’ll try my best, just this once.

First thing first, let’s get this out of the way:

Kou’s theory that there are two Tsukasas (one who was stuck in this house forever and “another” that pretended to be Hanako’s brother and was consequently killed) was proven wrong in the end of the very same chapter. The red house Tsukasa is the only one that exists, and he went back home after Kou told him about the future.

He only spends half a year in the Red House.

Tsukasa acts weird, and every adult blamed his behavior on the mysterious entity in his body that Tsukasa had named 'god’, but god isn’t in control: Tsukasa was the one that decided to stay in the house because ‘Amane hates him’, just like he was the one that decided to burn down the house when he changed ideas.

This god had to ask what Tsukasa was doing, so it have no access to his thoughts, and it seem to either be unable to fight against Tsukasa’s decisions, or give him full control. 

From the start, Tsukasa was the one who influenced god’s behavior, not the other way around:

Tsukasa doesn’t care about this god: He doesn’t ask it any personal questions, even childish ones “Who are you?” “Are you a good god?” “Do you have a house in there too?” “What do you look like?” and so on. He never tries to reach this god either. Is not like he is scared of the darkness out of reach, he just doesn’t personally care.

His view is very limited. He treats it as he would any ‘cool thing he finds’ and go straight to Amane to talk about it.

I’m sure he would only reach out to this god if Amane asked him to: Literally every thing he asked from ‘god’ have been for Amane. He is a four years old toddler who loves to play, yet he does not have any wishes or goals of his own.

The very reason he was in the house wasn’t to have his wish granted, it was to have Amane’s wish granted. And he wasn’t even stuck, he could leave whenever he wanted, but “Amane wouldn’t be happy to see me because he hates me”, so he stayed in the house, believing it too, was Amane's wish.

His only wish is to make Amane happy.

And when I say he only thinks about Amane, I mean it: He didn't spared a single wish to his parents, didn’t share that there is a god under the floorboard with them at any point. Is like they are an afterthought.

Even in the red house, alone with no adults, all he wants to do is play.

He never implies he misses his parents even when he tries to lure Kou by using Kou's dead mom.

It does not matter how loving and kind and worried his parents are, Tsukasa is indifferent about them. He has no interest in how they are feeling or to learn more about them.

His life revolves around having fun, which he mostly connects with Amane, so he always finds ways to make things about Amane.

His mom worry, and hugs him, and cries of joy, and Tsukasa does not spare her a glance. Nene shows interests similar to his own, but he doesn't want to learn more about her, just seeing it as an opportunity to talk about his brother.

He connects interest with love too. 

Ask him questions and he’ll assume is love. Show him worry. It’s love. Everything is love. So he doesn’t have a good concept of what love is.

People do affect him even if he doesn’t realize it though, because of such loving parents, he grow to genuinely love physical contact and trust strangers easily!

But he is usually very apathetic about individuals.

This “horror child” framing when he delivers the news is Kou’s perception of his behavior. He has a negative bias against Tsukasa so the kid feels eery and almost malicious.

Tsukasa’s mom also gets negative bias when ‘god’ start inhabiting Tsukasa’s body and gives him the knowledge to both know people’s wishes and their future, (something a kid shouldn't have) telling people how they’ll die and such with a smile.

Amane is smiling by his side in the same frame the mom sees this ‘monster that inst her son’, and it is pretty clear Tsukasa isn’t hurting anyone, as weird as he has always been. The mom just assumes the worst after he went missing for half a year.

So back to the scene with Kou: Tsukasa isn’t being malicious, he doesn’t want the people to be trapped in the house, or to see them hurt. He doesn’t care about the people at all: He is disconnected from it.

Kou is panicking, but Tsukasa doesn’t see anything wrong with what he said, or show any worry about Nene missing, mostly confused by Kou's behavior.

He shows nothing when trying to help the house lure people with their wishes either. No pride. No joy. No malice. Just a detached “Is this what you want? I can give you.” like a kid trying to give someone a toy they have no interest in.

The only time he showed genuine interest in someone without trying to connect his joy or amusement with Amane at all, was with Kou, after Kou explained his wishes.

And what does he call him? Silly.

He is a child, so when Kou was rejecting all his wishes, Tsukasa took things at face value “So this isn’t your wish? That’s weird the house doesn’t usually get things wrong, but okay. So is this other thing your wish?”

He believes if someone asks for something, that’s what they want, and that’s what they need. And if someone says no. They mean no.

Think back to his situation to Amane.

Take a look at how many toys are in Amane’s bed, toys that are abandoned and cast aside because Amane can’t play with them.

Tsukasa keeps giving him things Amane would ‘want’, unaware it just makes Amane feel worst for being too sick to play with any of it. He is too young to have nuance, not paying attention to what may make Amane worried, just shoving cool things Amane used to play with in his face cause “amane like these things”

Living in the red house only increased this belief, since the house revolves around wishes, giving this idea that following your desires and doing what you want, what you wish for, is natural, something every person does.

This greedy mentality is not natural for Kou, he is different from anyone that would seek the red house.

Tsukasa probably already had a “people should do whatever they want and not hold back!” view as a kid, but he assumed that wasn’t a personal view, it was just how the world work.

Kou is the first person that explicitly challenge this idea, explaining that everything the house showed is something he does want but that he is fine not taking. Making it clear he is holding back even for a child like Tsukasa.

Is actually really interesting that he saw all of Kou’s ‘wishes’ and when Kou straight up asked about his own wish, Tsukasa did not go in detail about Amane. He doesn’t bring him up, he just talks about his situation.

And idk what it means exactly? Maybe he thinks Kou won’t relate, much less understand his wish. Maybe since Tsukasa considers showing interest as a show of love, he is happy Kou ‘like him’ despite Kou's constant show of distrust him, and opens up a bit about himself. I am unsure.

Regardless he seems relatively intrigued by Kou, so Kou being the one to tell him Amane will die young, and challenging his view again, this time about the brother he is obsessed with hit hard.

“Just because you’re twins doesn’t mean you know everything about your brother,” Says the guy that entered the red house and rejected all his wishes, breaking Tsukasa’s idea of how “every person works”

The idea he doesn’t understand Amane sparkles the same kind of intrigue and excitement!

But since he is obsessed with Amane, his interest is way stronger than with Kou, he is delighted!

We have no insight of what he started doing after this, or how he changed while alive with Amane, but we do know something happened and Amane killed him. We also know he is Hanako’s yorishiro and that he is at least in part stuck to the past, still not good at understanding his brother considering he keeps calling him ‘Amane’ after death when everyone else knows he no longer identifies as Amane, but as Hanako. 

We also know his belief people should do as they please, regardless of wrong or right, hasn’t changed.

Though who knows what his goal is as a ghost, after all... Losing pieces of yourself is a very important part of becoming a supernatural.

As a romantic dynamic: I don’t really think abt them that way… it’s the unrepentant emunene/ruikasa bias. Also a lot of rui & nene’s interactions read as very… sibling-like? To *me*. Personally. I hesitate to say sibling-like, because people get really weird about assigning family dynamics to characters who aren’t related or raised as siblings and have never referred to each other as siblings (“it’s basically incest” no it is not what are you on), but it’s something similar to that imo. Gestures at nene’s new 3rd anniversary 2* card story where Rui is like “I remember when you were reading picture books… and now you’re reading more advanced books… how time flies…” & she’s like “stop treating me like a kid 😑” despite being him being only one year older than her.

I don’t have anything against it (& I think taking shipping fictional characters seriously enough to fight over it is ridiculous), it’s just not for me & I don’t see it romantically. But for the people who do: you do you have fun enjoy yourselves. (I also personally think Rui is gay coded but again. Idc if people disagree it doesn’t affect me I’m glad they’re having fun. Also that’s a hot button topic & I don’t want the people who do take this shit too seriously to hunt me down with pitchforks and torches please go outside it’s not that deep.)

As a platonic dynamic/going off what’s in canon: I’m so obsessed with them (as I am with all wxs dynamics). They’re so fascinating to me. They make me so sad. Another reason I hate the “they’re siblings” thing is it feels like a boring restrictive box people want to shove their dynamic into that does a disservice to how interesting it is. It waters it down.

Nene was the only person Rui really had as a friend when he was a kid, and the only person who trusted in him and his ideas. They grew their love for theatre together. At some point they grew distant - we don’t know why, but my personal take on it is this:

1. Rui slowly growing to think he would never find anyone who got him after experiencing rejection after rejection, and pushing Nene away. A combination of “I need to leave her before she leaves me, this way it will hurt less because it’s My Choice”, “I shouldn’t inflict myself upon other people it’s better for everyone if I stay by myself”, and “Nene has her own friends now I would just be dragging her down.”

2. Nene having her own friends (new troupe) and slowly pulling back - or, at least, not actively trying to prevent him pushing her away. “I don’t want to experience the same social rejection, and I don’t know how to help Rui, there’s nothing I can do.” Nene, especially in the early days, has never been very assertive, and I don’t think favoring blending into the background over standing out (in a potentially embarrassing way) due to Rui’s stunts and ideas would be out of character for her.

3. I don’t think they went to the same middle school/junior high (I could be wrong) (did they even go to the same elementary school?) which meant they didn’t spend time together without one of them reaching out, which became increasingly rare.

I don’t think either of them are to blame. Or they share equal blame, depending on how you look at it. I see people placing more of the blame on Nene though, which is… Nene get behind me. Leave her alone. If you held my prsk account at gunpoint and said “ok but seriously who is more to blame for the relationship breakdown you have choose or your 4*s are gone forever” I would say Rui. Wouldn’t even have to think about it. Given his abandonment issues/avoidant tendencies/habit of pushing others away/pre main story mindset, it’s what makes the most sense.

They don’t really reconnect until the main story, and even then I wholeheartedly believe Rui was less interested in reconnecting than he was interested in getting Nene to perform again. He accepts Tsukasa’s invitation to WxS under the condition that he gets to bring in a fourth member and then immediately tries to leave the second Tsukasa is like “I don’t want to die wtf.” like he doesn’t even try that hard to convince him he just goes “ok bye have fun nene :).”

Rui builds Nene a robot so she can perform again which - I’ve talked about it before briefly, I need to talk about it at length at some point, but while that’s very sweet it’s also… not helpful. Not in the long run, at least. It wasn’t a *bad* thing, it was just the only solution he was capable of offering. It was a bandaid over a gaping wound situation - Nene couldn’t hide behind a robot forever. Rui couldn’t always be there to fix nenerobo, she couldn’t pursue performing seriously behind a robot, and she *wanted* to be on stage again. What Nene needed was the courage to get on stage again, and Rui didn’t have the skill set to help with that, because it was something Nene needed to find on her own (with support).

The thing about them in the early days is they both enabled each other to stagnate in situations they weren’t happy with. Maybe more so Rui than Nene, in that he literally built he a robot to allow her to avoid confronting her anxiety around performing, but Nene also lacked the ability to challenge or discourage Rui’s “I’m better off on my own” mindset. The tragic consequences of two people who lack social skills (one of which has pretty severe social anxiety) trying to help each other. Nothing really gets done.

(As an aside: this is why the emu+nene and tsukasa+rui dynamics are so crucial. Yes even outside of a ship dynamic I promise I’m accounting for my own bias. Emu+tsukasa did actually have the ability to encourage nene+rui to come out of their shells - Emu is Nene’s no.1 hype man and always encourages her in everything she does and pushes her outside her comfort zone socially. Nene doesn’t have to guess at what Emu is thinking & get caught up in the weeds of anxiety bc Emu will just tell her outright. Rui credits Tsukasa specifically with giving him the chance to change for a reason, and Mizuki/pandemonium NPCs point out that Rui has seemed so much happier and less closed off since becoming Tsukasa’s friend. Pointing @ the thing Rui’s CV said about as you like it.)

There’s still some degree of guilt on Nene’s side wrt being unable to help Rui even now, but that’s lessened over the course of the story. There’s a lot that goes unsaid between them about their shared past, but they also understand each other incredibly well after knowing each other for ~10 years. By virtue of knowing each other forever they’re both well acquainted with how the other’s mind works.

Nene can tell what’s bothering Rui in wonder halloween before even he realizes it, and she understands that he struggles to explain/articulate his feelings and issues in curtain call. Rui is tuned into Nene’s anxiety saw trap of a mind and is well versed in getting her to realize she’s overthinking things (I.e. “why don’t you just ask tsukasa what he did in the acting camp” in her emu3 2* card. I think that’s the right card) as well as getting her to speak up (shutting emu up with a donut in one of the earlier nene card stories so nene has a chance to talk. source here is just trust me I don’t want to hunt the card down).

Nene is always in his corner, and the reverse is true. They want each other to be happy and they’re so so so pleased that the other is doing better now. Nene often points out that Rui seems happier, and Rui is very proud of how far Nene has grown both on the stage and off it. Love their dynamic it’s so good… I care them…

Science Vs romance

A story of a young girl, who fell in love with a scientist boy but isn't sure yet what the feelings really mean and if they'll be returned.

This is not chapter 1

As soon as you had an opening, all of you took your stuff and left. Senku guided all of you slowly up the mountains to the coper statue. It might come of use later.

You walked beside him, so Yuziriha and Tajiu could explain to eachother what happened. You looked at Senku, who tried his best to hide his troubles as he struggled for air as he walked up the hill.

You took his hand. "Your stamina is very low, I'll help you up. This way you won't strain as much."

He looked at you confused. "You ain't much stronger than me. It will just strain you more." He tried to take his hand away.

"It won't." You smiled. He kept holding onto your hand as you walked together. It indeed was straining, but you couldn't watch as Senku struggled. You felt how his hand was a bit rough, maybe even slightly scarred. The primitive life must have made him adjust to it. You watched as Yuziriha and Tajiu seemed happy together. How they were the perfect pair. Slowly you pet Senkus hand with your thumb. You smiled softly as you felt a warm feeling spread through you. He was your friend. Your lab partner. You chuckled softly at a joke you remembered.

He looked at you and asked. "What is it?"

You looked at the plants nearby as you walked. "I remembered one of our jokes."

"A joke?" You remembered how he loved to make jokes and pranks. Eventhough he was so serious most of the time, nothing stopped him from having some normal teenage fun like others, even if he didn't do it often and hated parties.

"Yeah. One of the older ones. From when we used to work at the lab."

"Hm... Shoot."

You smiled more as you told the joke. It wasn't the one you initially thought of, because you found that one too awkward to say. "Do you hate Natrium, Broom and Oxide relationship? Na, BrO, it never bothered me."

He thought a second. "It's one of those jokes you printed and put in our science club. Hm..." He looked around. "Why can't you trust an atom?"

You looked at the pink trees nearby, thinking of an answer. You shook your head.

"Because they make everything up." Immediately after hearing the answer you laughed. Maybe a little bit too hard. Soon he shushed you. "Not this loud. Tsukasa might be on his way."

You calmed a bit and kept telling him jokes back and forth.

You truly had fun as you smiled between them.

Before you knew the two of you got up the mountain and started to collect sulfur. You broke the black and yellow tinted rocks that had small holes in them. You looked at the earth around you.

"I once went to a volcano. It might not be the same as a glasier but the rock construction was very similar. Those rocks were black, white, yellow and red. Truly beautiful." You told your friend. Senku was the only one listening. Tajiu and Yuziriha were too consumed with the work.

"So sulfur and iron composition. It's very common. To which one have you been?"

"We went to Mount Etna. We used to travel with my and Tai's parents but..."

Senku interfered as i fell silent. "One on the most active volcanoes left. Must been cool to whiteness it without blowing up."

You chuckled as you wiped a tear. "Yeah, it was."

The four of you messed around with the gunpowder. Tajiu accidentally made it explode when he hit it with a rock but you did find it cool.

"Tsukasa will probably figure out our location now."

Senku immediately looked in thought. He seemed to be dozed off into the distance. "We need to do it again. There has been a sygnal from s distance. It's either a potential ally or a foe. I think we should take the chance."

All three of you knew that Senku was terrible at making moral plans, but you trusted his decision. It was the best idea you had so you did as you were told. He sent you and Tajiu out to gather some firewood, and you left off.

Together with your cousin you went to grab small twigs but something didn't feel right.

"Tai?" You looked at him.

He continued grabbing bigger sticks as you walked."Y/n, I know it might seem unreasonable, I didn't want to leave Yuziriha and Senku alone either, but if anything, they should be safe."

"But what if Tsukasa noticed where they are. I don't want them to get hurt."

Tajiu tried to calm you down, but you kept rambling, without noticing how your speech changed.

"I mean they're both not fighters, I'm neither, but I know how to fight. I know some grips to save them. Why would he tell me to leave. He is too important for me to loose. There isn't much I can do without him. On my own I would have died already in our highschool." You started to talk faster, barely taking a break to breathe. "But he is so amazing and he wants to save the civilization on his own. His motives are so amazing." Before you even noticed you started to tell about how his smile filled you with joy as his eyes were filled with passion.

Tajiu smiled and pet your back. "Don't worry y/n. Senku surely can manage few minutes on his own. And you will see his smile again." He chuckled. "I too find it scary to leave Yuziriha alone with Tsukasa walking around, but it was the best we could do at the moment. They need people who are fast to gather stuff now. So let's finish it up and join them."

You nodded approving, but not really sure if he just didn't compare your relationship with Senku to his crush on Yuziriha. His words managed to calm you down, yet not even a minute passed and he rushed off, whispering "Something is wrong."

You got affraid and ran after him immediately, but once you were there, you could see you both were too late. Senku was dead.

Actually- I hate the hole Tsukasa is abusive thing in general.

Same with Teru- fr where has he shown no empathy?- he literally goes out of his why to help people? He could have not carried but he did-

he could have left Akane to deal with being a half supernatural. But he didn't.

It feels like people try to pull shit out of their ass and if they say it enough it will be true some how? I really can't see Tsukasa hurting the brother he loves so much honestly- as bad as Tsukasa is I feel like people forget that Hanako was the one that killed Tsukasa. Not the other way around.

And the more we learn the more I feel like Tsukasa did nothing-

Like I have this theory that all the bruises Amane had were his fault-

The bruises on his wrist? From Tsukasa trying to stop him from hurting him or himself.

The cuts? Broken glass he threw at Tsukasa. I feel like as much as Hanako crys he's really uncaring-

I don't have proper panels and it really is just a theory but it will always be in the back of my mind because I really do believe because of the cruel nature of Hanako San he was chosen to BE Hanako San for a greater reason then just murder.

The position of Hanako San isn't given to just anyone. (I can't find were that was said!- wtf?!- maybe in the pilot?!- but I swear it was said somewhere!- I'm so sorry Anon- please trust me it was said somewhere and when I find it I'll reblog this post with it I swear- TwT)

I wish people would remember that Hanako was the one that killed Tsukasa and I genuinely think Tsukasa is hurt by that.

Toilet Bound Hanako Kun: My Opinions On Ships

HanaNene (Hanako x Nene)

Okay, let it be clear, I do love this ship. I always have. However, I can love a ship while acknowledging it's faults. It has some parts that make me question how healthy it really is. To begin with, Hanako has made plans to grants Nene's wishes before without running them by her. Which proven by the Picture Perfect Arc and recent manga events, his methods are not great.

At all.

He's cause her to possibly loose her best friend because of this. Adding onto that, 91 and 92, makes me question Hanako's true motives. I hate to say it but, I find it odd how Tsukasa only decided to cause trouble after Nene summoned Hanako. Another point is - in a past post - I've pointed out there's evidence Hanako had been lying to Nene the entire time. It doesn't seem very healthy but, I appreciate their dynamic and want to see it become healthier.

I liked when Nene stood up for herself in the Picture Perfect arc. I don't like seeing her let Hanako waltz all over her.

However, why the hell are you guys claiming this is pedophilia? Hanako - quite clearly - has the mentality, emotional maturity, and physical body of a boy of about 13-14. Nene is 15, 16 at most. Hanako has been dead for a long time but in that time it seems obvious he hasn't matured physically, mentally, or emotionally. Therefore, it's not pedophilia because they're both - Nene and Hanako are both - children.

It's really that simple. However if it's revealed Hanako has happened to be faking being emotionally and mentally immature, than yes, I'd view him as a predator. However, there's not really any solid evidence supprting this. The lying is the biggest evidence for that idea we have but, he could have immature reasons for that.

Also there's no concrete evidence he was lying the whole time. It seems a bit weird with 91 and 92 but, nothing is really clear yet. I feel like this ship opinion may or may not change depending on how the manga progresses.

MitsuKou (Mitsuba x Kou)

Another ship that I highly enjoy. These two are so cute together and it's so wholesome - angsty though. Very angsty. I will admit though, someone admitted a part of the manga in which they could be seen as not so wholesome. When Kou was about to um - try to off himself to be friends with Mitsuba forever (his words not mine).

They were in a boundary - meaning Kou wouldn't die - and some people use this to say Kou was manipulating Mitsuba. However, nowhere did it say Kou knew it was a boundary. He just knew something weird was going on - same with Nene. Therefore, it wasn't manipulation however, it reveals Kou is in desperate need of therapy.

I feel like this is mostly healthy except for -you know - the fact Kou is willing to die. Some may argue that Mitsuba is too verbally rude however, Kou has been shown to not really be bothered by that. That said, Kou needs therapy to prevent this from being toxic.

AoiKane (Aoi Akane x Aoi Akane)

Okay, I like this ship too. However, it's not exactly heathy either. Let's see so, the fact Akane choked Aoi doesn't pass the vibe check with me - I get Akane was likely frustrated but, he had no excuse to choke her. That's just a no. His possessive behavior is something that likely comes from insecurity - he should see a therapist for that.

Then we have the fact that Aoi obviously isn't ready for a relationship. She'd told him no multiple times despite the fact she liked him - not to mention that stupid number system. There's nothing wrong with saying no but, her lying to him is my problem. It puts distrust between the two from the beginning.

Unhealthy communication - including lying - leads to a lack of trust, which would mean Akane's possessive behaviors in this relationship would get worse.

It's evident enough by the fake persona Aoi has that she doesn't love herself. Considering this she was likely self sabotaging - simultaneously hurting herself and him at once. While I ship these two cause they're cute, it is still a toxic pairing.

YamaKane (Yamabuki Lemon x Aoi Akane)

When these two boys got together I found it very funny, since it was a tree that caused it. It is kinda weird though because it was all because of the Confession Tree counts as a love spell. After they both got out of the spell, it ended. I'm nuetral about this but, I'd love to know how Akane never realized he was under a spell - especially since dude has to take those glasses off to sleep. Trust me, I've made the mistake of sleeping with glasses on! Not fun.

Cause spoiler alert without those glasses he should have been able to break from the spell unless he just went with it cause he was confused? This plothole makes me confused always and I'll never not be confused at this. Yeah I don't know how to feel about this ship cause that plothole has me questioning loads.

TeruKane (Minamoto Teru x Aoi Akane)

So, as you may tell if you've seen my page, I like this ship. I like their honesty with each other. The fact they can communicate in order to work together is a big part of why I like them cause communication is key.

Again, Akane may want to see someone about possessive behaviors because Teru is popular. So this ship does have a level toxicity in Akane's possessiveness. If he's possessive about Aoi he'd be the same way if he was crushing on Teru. As long as Akane seeks help about being possessive I see this being relatively healthy besides Teru's teasing.

However sometimes you tease, it's not really a big deal. Their honesty would help Akane's jealousy issues to not flame up if he were to get help. However, from where it stands right now, Akane's jealousy would be the worst thing about this. Therefore there is some toxicity.

TsuSaku (Tsukasa x Sakura)

No. I don't know why I just don't see it. There's something about it that gives me the ick.

NatsuSaku (Natsuhiko x Sakura)

See, I understand the appeal for this ship - especially with recent chapters. However, I really cannot see it - I love the idea of them being friends. I just can't see them as a couple.

So with my opinions out there what do you guys think?

Survival is key and you both make a formidable pairing whether it be in battle or fighting the elements

And Hyoga hates it

Such strength leads Tsukasa to ask the two of you to preform most of your tasks together, it makes the most sense to have your most capable and strongest doing the hardest work to keep the empire together

There’s a banter that sticks to the both of you

Together this much, and sometimes with others around, has taught you both to be spiteful in your tonality but vague in your words

Lets be honest probably half the empire thinks the two of you are fucking and the other half thinks you’re friends

Not the case

Hyoga knows you’re strong and would do wonders to work under him, so when you say no it only pisses him off more

How can you just not see he’s in the right and obeying him would make things go smoothly?

Tsukasa trusts him, you should do the same even though he’s never given you reason to trust him

Like two lions at ends with each other, it isn’t until the strongest aren’t on top anymore does Hyoga realize what might happen

He might loose

And loosing an asset like you is as big a blow to the Tsukasa empire as it is his ideas

A non fatal but grueling wound makes him reserved around you

To the point your banter becomes one sided and even between coughs and bandage changes, you scoff in his face like he’s wasting time caring about you

Hyoga won’t retaliate with any of his own digs at you or even snap at you when you’re bleeding in front of him

“Well let's go get them!” Teru clapped his hands and made his way towards the building.

“Do you think it's…” Kou didn’t want to finish the sentence.

“Let's hope not.” Teru’s carefree expression lowered at the thought. “Do you know where they went?”

Kou thought for a moment.

“No, but I know they aren’t in the old school building…”

Teru and Kou walked around the school for a while, looking for you in no avail. Kou pointed out little droplets of water that slowly got bigger reaching to the school's lockers. The boys froze when they heard sounds of sobbing. They turned the corner to see you facing your lockers drenched in water. You leaned onto your locker, closing it.

“Y/n..!” Kou called out, making you turn to him. “What happened?!”

“Who the hell did this to you…?” Teru asked, examining your ripped close and abused appearance. You looked at him and only cried more.

“I’m sorry big brother Teru…”

“Y/n, you don't need to be sorry, this isn’t your fault..!” Teru hugged you “What happened..?”

“I-its your birthday today… but there was this girl who wanted me to introduce you to her... but I said no, she didn’t take it too well and did this…” You sobbed into his shoulder. Teru’s grip on you tightened thinking about how this only happened while he was outside with Kou.

“Who did this?” Teru sternly asked.

“I-it’s fine Teru…” You kneeled to the ground picking up pieces from the necklace she destroyed “She already left… there is nothing I can do now…”

“Y/n… please…” Kou kneeled down next to you and put his hand on yours.

“Guys, what would make me feel better is if we got home… can we please go home?” Your voice was begging. You just wanted to be in a warm blanket watching T.V. with your siblings.

That's all you wanted right now.

“Okay… I’m sorry Y/n, let's go home okay!” Teru gave you his jacket which you happily accepted.

You sighed walking to your classroom. It was early and you were tired. You were happy your brothers didn’t ask you about it for the rest of the night, you didn’t want them to worry. The fact you are getting mistreated is mostly Tsukasa’s fault

Like he can make a lot of enemies so when the fish yokai (that he killed) saw how close you and Tsukasa were, of course they wanted to kill you

It was also a perk that you were Hanako’s sibling since they wanted to get back at him as well for stealing their princess Yashiro away from them

You were weak and had a human body, you were perfect

Amane had no idea about this, Tsukasa didn’t know you were being abused but he did know he pissed off those fish AND HE PISSED EM OFF GOOD-

You figured you would be a target for yokai since your older brothers are powerful

Of course, you didn’t mind this

You knew this would happen so it’s alright!

But the thing was, it wasn’t so alright with your older brothers

Hanako watched the cherry blossoms fall from the tree that he sat under. It was November 25, his birthday, and you said you wanted to have a talk with the two boys. Normally you would talk to them separately because you knew how Amane felt towards his twin brother, but today you wanted to talk to them together. Hanako cancelled his normal cleaning duty and waited where you said to meet up.

“Amane!!” He heard a scream from behind him but before he could turn around he felt someone hug him, wrapping their legs around his waist.

“Oh, Tsukasa…” Hanako said softly, personally finding this kind of awkward.

“Where’s Y/n?? It’s been so long since I’ve seen them!” Tsukasa removed his head from Amane’s neck looking around for you.

“Oh, they aren’t here yet, and I remember them saying they saw you two days ago…”

“So long ago!” Tsukasa whined and Amane sighed at his childish behavior. It went silent but thankfully Tsukasa quickly broke it.

“Didn’t Y/n say to meet them here 15 minutes ago??”

“Yeah they did…” Amane started to get worried.

“They're late!” Tsukasa pouted.

“You’re late as well Tsukasa… And we should go look for them.”

“I’ll lead the way! I know where their last class is!” He stood up and started marching, Hanako closely behind him.

They walked around the school for a while, watching students run across the halls to their clubs, laughing and gossiping with one another. Tsukasa continued to march, not losing the bounce in his step. They came closer to the sound of someone crying, sobs getting louder as they approached a classroom. The twins looked at each other before Tsukasa opened the door.

You jumped slightly, removing your head from between your legs to look at who came in. You only began to cry more realizing it was your two brothers.

“Y/n…?” Tsukasa slightly whispered to himself, staying at the door's entrance.

“Y/n! What happened?!” Amane ran to you, fearing you were hurt in any way. He put his arm on your wet shoulder, looking around to see if there were any visible bloody wounds. He looked at your uniform which was damaged and had a few cuts in it. Your hair was also wet like if someone poured water on you. Tsukasa slowly made his way over to you, examining you up and down. You couldn’t make out the expression on his face but you knew anger was there.

“I-I’m sorry…” You said a little above a whisper.

“You’re sorry for what..?” Amane asked, moving the wet hair out of your face to get a better look at your soaked, tear-stained face.

“Big brothers...since this is both your birthdays... I thought it would be better to get you both a gift. But there are these fish yokai who don’t like me..!” You picked up a couple red and green gems from the floor. Hanako’s eyes widened.

“I... know big brother Amane liked donuts and I assume big brother Tsukasa likes them as well… but they took the donuts I made you saying my cooking was t-the worst and you wouldn’t want it..!” You continued “And they took the necklace I bought for you guys saying I don’t deserve it…”

“Were they talking fish..?” Tsukasa's voice was cold, eyes wide with rage. You only nodded your head.

“Amane, will you stay with y/n? I have something I need to do.” Tsukasa turned to Amane. Hanako already knew what he was going to do.

He was going to go after the mermaid and her fish. There was nothing he could say to stop him.

“O-okay… do what you have to do…” Amane nodded and Tsukasa left the room.

“W-wait… where is he going..?” You started to get up but Amane sat you back down.

“Hey, don’t worry Y/n… older brother Tsukasa is going to take care of this okay?” Amane hugged you.

“But I don’t mind the fish… it’s fine-”

“No. It’s not.” Amane’s aura grew darker before his loving brotherly smile appeared again.

“And hopefully by tomorrow, you won’t have to deal with those disgusting fish!”

“Y/n! Amane!” Tsukasa called out as he walked down the halls. When he approached the door he opened it revealing you and Amane laughing. You were somewhat dry and you stopped crying.

“Tsukasa!” You got up and gave him a hug.

“What happened to those fish…?” Worryness in your voice.

“Don’t worry about it Y/n! You don’t need to worry about them anymore!” He childishly smiled, bringing ease to you.

“Amane approached you two, smiling. He looked to see Tsukasa’s hand that was behind his back covered in blood. Hanako's smile dropped and he went silent. He quickly regained his composure and turned to you.

“Yeah, Y/n you don’t need to worry about those fish. Your big brothers will kill any other supernatural that dares hurt you!”

I loved the glass prism. I remember it appeared with little tsukasa when they said amane would kill him what does it mean???

are there other moments of broken glass with tsukasa??

Ah, I forgot to add this panel hahaha but thanks for reminding me.

Glass prisms represent the breaking of something fragile, be it memories, moments, people. In Tsukasa's case, it can represent the breaking of hope, of trust, the breaking of a feeling.

He trusted that Amane would live and achieve his dreams, he had hope that this would happen, but when Kou told him that Amane took his own life and his, something broke.

He fell apart a little, and it was clear that Tsukasa understood that memory, that vision he had of Amane was different from what he really was, that is, there was a change in relation to what he thought before and what he discovered now (sudden paradigm shift)

He was so incredulous that Amane simply threw away the sacrifice he made for him, that he decided to go back to understand why he had done that.

Feelings are ephemeral, just like memories, both are extremely linked to each other, so, if I were to summarize, Tsukasa had his feelings broken when he found out that the brother he loved so much killed himself and took his life.

One interesting thing about this moment with Tsukasa is how you can clearly see that it's his sentimental side that broke, see, these pages after the moment in which Tsukasa "breaks"

Now look at his eyes when he realizes what Kou said

He is tearing up

He was about to cry, but he didn't, firstly Kou just didn't care about his feelings and switched his attention to something else, but see, he remained in shock

He was silent while Kou and Nene talked.

And what did he say after this prolonged silence?

Then, he starts to imagine about the times he and Amane could have together.

Once again, the broken glass

He is not happy, he is still in shock, even though he thinks about all these things, maybe the imaginary dream he had of living next to his brother, were broken.

Cute, isn't it? but don't be fooled. He decided at that moment that he would go back to understand why Amane did that, and not to fulfill his own desires to be by his brother's side.

He was hurt, Amane broke his heart.

And Tsukasa… Like a good brother… will come back to understand what he did wrong….

That moment when Kou said that to him, just gave Tsukasa the absolute certainty that Amane hated him. After all, you don't kill who you love, and you wouldn't be so ungrateful as to simply throw away the sacrifice of LIFE that someone made for you.

He felt terrible when he discovered this, and his reaction:

That wasn't the same Tsukasa anymore. It was broken, and I imagine that over the years, Amane broke him completely.

Regarding there being other moments of the glass breaking with Tsukasa, I need to reread the manga to see if it happened other times, if I find it, I will reblog this post with the new files and some observations about them.

Many in our fandom have already noticed the parallels between Rivamika and Violet and Gilbert from Violet Evergarden (Beautiful anime, watch it if you haven’t already); on Instagram, RM fanpages have talked about this, but I’ve noticed that unfortunately, here on Tumblr, this interesting topic is getting quite ignored. In this post, we’re talking about all the similarities between Gilbert x Violet and Levi x Mikasa.

(Please don’t spoil anything about Violet Evergarden in the comments; let’s respect who hasn’t watch it yet)

Before getting into the parallels related to their relationships, let’s analyze the ones related to the physical appearance/personality (and more) between the couples and their respective members.

Mikasa and Violet share the same Japanese voice actor, that is Yui Ishikawa (She’s also the voice actor of 2B from NieR Automata and Tsukasa Taira from Devils line. Speaking of Devils Line, the main character, Yuuki Anzai, looks like a potential Rivamika son; in fact, he has seems a cold man, like Mikasa and Levi, but he’s really caring, especially towards his loved one (Tsukasa) It’s a great anime, watch it if you haven’t already), and they seem heartless and emotionless on first impression. Levi and Gilbert have both lost their right eye and they have prominent scars on their face. They are reserved men that don’t usually show their emotions and they are both (respectively), Mikasa and Violet’s superiors. Gilbert met Violet for the first time when she was a child, and the age difference between the two is about 15 years (Gilbert is 29; Violet is 14), the same as Rivamika’s.

Violet was always seen by everyone as a weapon, the only one who saw her as a human was Gilbert, that slowly fell in love with her and tried to protect her. The first parallel we find with Rivamika is that both Gilbert and Levi saw something else in the girls. I doubt that many in the scouts were interested in Mikasa’s personality, probably for everyone she was just an heartless and cold girl. She doesn’t seem friendly and many feared her, so she was ignored by the soldiers (that’s why she hasn’t got many friends). Her soldier abilities were recognized by everyone though, so logically, Mikasa was probably immediately liked with her strength and not with her personality. Levi has always understood Mikasa since their first meeting; I think he knows that they are similar and that she isn’t just a strong soldier; she is a human with her qualities, flaws and weak spots, like Levi. In a few words, since she’s similar to him he understands her personality so he doesn’t see her just as the girl worth 100 soldiers. Another parallel: Levi has always protected Mikasa, he has always cared about her well-being, physical and mental.

Notice that: Eren’s words “Fight!” again are referred to Mikasa’s strength. To me, Mikasa is just a girl who was forced to be a strong soldier; we know she wants her family and in the past Isayama stated that she will return the happy girl she was in her childhood (yeah I see). I don’t think she likes violence. Eren has become a very violent person (killing 80% of the population yeyy), and instead our baby Levi probably has understood that violence is never the right choice.

Anyway, Gilbert confessed to Violet his feelings on the verge of death; the girl didn’t know what “I love you” means, so she gave her best to understand the meaning behind those three words. I personally think that Mikasa doesn’t really know how it feels to be loved by a real man; surely, what “Eren” felt for her wasn’t real love and even if it was, which is ridiculous, he didn’t put that much effort in showing those “feelings”, since the way he treats her is not how I treat my boyfriend/crush. Even if she’s 23, Mikasa has no experience with relationships, at all; she’s single and she never had a boyfriend. She needs a real man; someone that loves her and can make her happy, not a fucking bird. The bird can’t give her what she wants never thought I would have said these words lmao. She needs someone that she can love and can make her feel loved, and I know who perfectly fits these standards. Levi

But Gilbert wanted Violet to be free and independent, and that’s exactly what Levi wants for Mikasa; only with Levi, in 4 seasons, Mikasa was free do to things her own way. He trusts her, that’s why he doesn’t ask her the reason behind her decisions, he respects what she decides to do. Probably, Levi wouldn’t like to see Mikasa sitting next to Eren’s grave, crying and hoping to see the clown again (remember “I hate weaks). He knows what’s the best for her, and most importantly, he cares for her, he really does, and that’s why he will help Mikasa if she gives him the possibility to do that. Levi is coming back to her, and he won’t leave Paradise without her.

Ahh, this analysis was difficult. Logic plays a big part in RM, especially because things with this ship are never obvious. Anyway, I hope you liked my analysis. Hi there!! I'd like a matchup, please<3! I'm quite soft-spoken and shy, but once I get comfortable I'm very talkative and can ramble for hours with extreme passion (I'm always worried that I'm being annoying or talking too much or looking stupid though),, My love languages are physical affection and gift-giving (being 5'0 Exaggerating my height/a little closer to 4'11/roughly 152.2cm exactly, I really really love hugging people taller than me) but since I'm too shy to ask for affection I usually tend to just stick close to people/lightly tug on their sleeves or fiddle with their hands or fall back on giving them interesting little stuff and going 🥺🥺🥺. I'm often tired and definitely need to be coerced into sleeping more, but I'm definitely a night owl that also likes the daytime too much (peak naptime is always early afternoon tho lol). I'm a bit too hardworking to the point where I stress myself out, but I love being spoiled (though I'd never demand that I really want it) anddd my hobbies are reading books (and analyzing literature), admiring art/nature (never been to a museum but I love plays, movies, and watching people sing/dance), and baking (I love sweets!!! baked goods and drinks, especiallyyyy the kinda expensive and fancy kind, but I'm too broke for those usually and go nuts with happiness to be able to have them... I just stick to basic recipes when I'm baking though). I also really love foreign languages (I've been taking French for abt 5yrs), tea, plushies, and art in general (I admire anybody with artistic talents sooo much,, I do poetry some myself but I'm too anxious to share it with a lot of people) and I hate hot weather, being getting angry/yelling at me, bugs (I don't scream but anything bigger than a fly scares me and I wish I had people to kill them for me,,) thanks!!!!

i do think hiyori would find you so adorable. nothing is more satisfying to him than seeing you breaking out of your shell. when you’re all shy and timid? he thinks it’s super cute, and he doesn’t mind doing all of the talking for you. when you’re loud and excited? you two can spend hours blabbering on, much to jun’s dismay. also, both of you better get real good at begging jun to kill the bugs around you.

my god, he is affectionate. so, so affectionate. even if you don’t initiate it, he’s quite touchy with you, leaning against you or having a hand around your waist. he absolutely insists that you hold hands with him or else he might lose you in the crowds! he’s also a bit (a lot) of a rich kid, so expect luxurious dates and gifts. they’re almost a bit too extra, really, but that just shows how much he loves you! he’s also a big fan of shopping dates and taking you to those fancy overpriced cafes. you know, the ones with the insanely photogenic menu items that people would post onto instagram.

he admires you for working hard, but he’d like it if you weren’t neglecting other aspects of your life for it. you need to pay attention to your hunger, sleeping habits, and of course him. luckily for you, he’s real good at convincing people (whining until you give in)

tsukasa finds your shyness endearing, and he feels proud once you eventually warm up to him! you can count on him to spoil you, he’s a gentleman after all. at the same time, make sure to spoil him lots too. he’s not a big fan of pda (it’s not proper!), but in private, he’s a lot more willing to cuddle up with you. he’ll do his very best to treat you right, trust me on this. 

also, he thinks that your hobbies are super refined and elegant. he’ll research into your interests to initiate discussions about them for sure. plus, it doesn’t help that you’re into baking... he won’t ask for it directly, but make him some homemade sweets and he’ll be the happiest person ever, seriously! dessert dates with him are an absolute must, he’ll be happy to indulge you (and himself) until you’re both sick of sweets. 

he’d invite you over for tea and spend hours listening to you talk while you hang out in his garden. do you prefer dates that are a bit more extra? expensive dinners at restaurants that he plans reservations for weeks in advance. either way, he’s eager to please you and reward you for your hard work.

Junichiro laughs awkwardly. “I’m so sorry, Mr--Yuusuke, it feels like whenever you come here you end up repairing something.”

Yuusuke shrugs, grins. “I like having things to do with my hands, and there’s no sense in making you waste money on a plumber for something this simple to fix. And I’m going to teach Geiz how to do it too, so if it comes up again and you can’t get in touch with me he can take care of it.”

Blinking in surprise, Junichiro looks past Yuusuke’s shoulder to Geiz, who shrugs. “Woz hates being dirty and Sougo...uh...I kinda don’t think we should encourage Sougo to take apart stuff in the house. Um, no offense.”

“None taken, Geiz, I’ve known him longer than you have and I don’t know that I’d trust him to fix the toilet either, he’s, ah...”

“A little absent-minded?” is Yuusuke’s cheerfully diplomatic suggestion.

“Yes, exactly.”

A frustrated noise floats in from the dining room, and Geiz glances over nervously towards the doorway. “Maybe we should get started on that before Daiki actually manages to lose his temper.”

“I don’t think he’d really lose his temper over something like this.” Yuusuke also glances toward the dining room and frowns. “But then again, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him lose at chess this many times in a row.”

There’s a notable silence, and then the sound of Tsukuyomi saying, quietly, “Checkmate,” followed by Daiki’s aggrieved, “Where did you learn to play chess like that?”

“Yeah, let’s head upstairs, either he’s going to actually get upset or he and Tsukuyomi are about to have some kind of serious conversation and he’d be embarrassed if we overheard him, he hates getting serious in public.”

In the dining room, Tsukuyomi frowns at her queen and says, “I...I don’t actually know. I know how to play chess, but I don’t remembering...learning how to play chess. Or who taught me.”

Daiki's resetting the chessboard, so he doesn't look up at her, but he does say, "You know, sometimes I envy Tsukasa for having been allowed to forget things." Before Tsukuyomi can reply, though, "But then he'll go saying something like you just said and I remember how lucky I have it."

Tsukuyomi's frown gets a little deeper, but now she looks more confused than frustrated. "What do you mean?"

"Has he ever mentioned that he can't remember his parents' faces? Or their names?"

"He...no, he hasn't."

"Being able to forget is a blessing, but only if it's something you can allow yourself to do. Having it happen to you is a different thing entirely." He finishes setting up the pieces. "Sorry, I'm being gloomy, it happens sometimes."

Tsukuyomi peers at him for a moment before responding. “That’s why you started showing up to talk to Geiz, wasn’t it. Because of something you wish you could forget.”

Daiki still doesn’t look up at her. Now that the board’s reset he’s started fidgeting with the pieces again, picking up both kings and queens and rolling them in his hands. “You’re too sharp for your own good, you know that?” He puts the kings and queens down again in a little square in the center of the board. “I had a younger brother once. I failed him pretty badly.”

“I mean, apparently I had an older brother once, and he tried to kill me.” Tsukuyomi taps the white queen on the top of its little crown. “That’s also why you keep bringing me Watches.”

“Got it in one. You deserve a better brother. I think you four remind us all of ourselves.” Daiki looks down thoughtfully at the little square of pieces. “Hey, look, by the way, it’s you.” He taps the white queen just as Tsukuyomi did. “So I guess that’d make this one Sougo--” the black king, “and this one Geiz,” the white king.

She giggles. “And Woz is the black queen?”

“Well, it’s not a perfect one-to-one. I guess I could go with the black bishop, but guys who go by Bishop tend to be pretty ominous characters and he's not nearly as worrying as he used to be.”

“So if we’re like you guys, then which one of these are you?”

“Oh, we’re not chess pieces, we’re cards.” Rustling, and a Tarot deck emerges from one of the interior pockets of Daiki’s jacket. He slides it lovingly out of the box and flips through the deck, drawing four cards and laying them down on the table next to the chessboard--the King of Wands, the Queen of Coins, and the Knight of Swords, and the Page of Cups. “See? There’s Tsukasa, that’s Natsumi, obviously this one is Yuusuke, and that’s me.”

“You just...had that in your pocket? And...Cups is the one that turned into Hearts, right? You’re the Page of Hearts?”

They’re interrupted by a startled noise from the kitchen, Woz saying, “How did you get that--” as Tsukasa, at the same time, says, “Princess, we don’t play with kitchen knives, give me that.”

“Ooh, sounds like things are getting exciting in there.” Daiki’s face lights up with a genuine grin. “Anyway, you have no idea how much stuff I’ve got in my pockets, that’s right, and of course I am. The Knave of Hearts, he stole some tarts. Speaking of which...” The Tarot deck goes away, and is replaced by on the table by a deck of regular playing cards. “Why don’t we switch games? You know how to play poker?”

Tsukasa carefully takes the paring knife from Yuzuki and puts it back on the counter, farther back from the edge than it was before. “I’m pretty sure you grew, I don’t think you could have reached up there last week.”

She grins up at him. “Tall!”

“Yeah, that’s right, you’re very tall.”

Woz shifts nervously as she returns to the kitchen chair she’s been occupying and clambers up onto the seat. Once she’s occupied with her stacking cups again and in no apparent danger of getting her hands on another knife, he visibly relaxes. He picks a piece of dumpling filling from the mixing bowl with his chopsticks, deposits it in the wrapper in his hand, and passes the whole thing to Tsukasa. “I appreciate your assistance with this.”

Tsukasa shrugs and starts to crimp the dumpling shut. “I figure you’re probably not usually cooking for ten people.” Closed, the dumpling goes onto a sheet pan, where there are already at least fifty completed but uncooked pieces laid out.

“You might be surprised. Sougo and Geiz both eat a great deal.”

“And you don’t?” Tsukasa accepts another filled wrapper and looks Woz up and down. “I’ve seen you eat, it’s kind of amazing that you’re so skinny.”

“That’s...not unfair.”

They make dumplings in silence, Woz filling and Tsukasa crimping as the sheet pan becomes fuller and fuller. Eventually they have to get a second pan, and when they’ve got ten dumplings down on that, Yuzuki slides down from her chair with a thump and tugs on the hem of Woz’s shirt. “Woz. Woz. Woz.”

Woz looks down at her in alarm. “Yes?”

She points imperiously to the counter. “Book.”

“Ah...yes? That’s my book.”

A firm nod. “Woz, book.”

“She wants you to read to her.” Tsukasa puts aside another completed dumpling. “Right, princess?”

Yuzuki nods again. “Ok! Read book!”

Woz only looks more alarmed. “Why me?”

“Well, she knows it’s your book.”

“Yes, but my book is...” Woz glances to the side. “My book is not suitable for children.”

Tsukasa’s eyebrows go up. “Isn’t it? If the stories in there aren’t suitable for children then I don’t know what is.” He pauses. “I mean, maybe don’t read to her about the Amazon kids, the Greek ones, but otherwise. I can keep making dumplings by myself, I’ll be fine.”

Uncertain, Woz nods, puts aside the cooking chopsticks, and washes his hands before taking his book down from its spot on the counter. Yuzuki claps delightedly as he sits down in the kitchen chair and climbs up onto his lap with only minimal wincing on his part. “Woz, book! Thank you.”

His mouth twitches slightly, as if he’s trying not to smile, and Tsukasa winks at him. Then, carefully, he opens up the book and turns to a spot about sixteen pages in. “Long, long ago, there was a man who knew how to do one thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine things--”

“Big number.”

“Yes, very big. There was a man who knew how to do one thousand nine hundred and ninety nine things, and his name was Godai Yusuke.”

“Like Daddy! Yusuke!”

“Just like your father, yes. And he loved nothing more than the blue sky and to travel and have adventures...”

“Hm. A little to the left, please.”

Sougo blinks. “Which one?”

“The Ride Booker. Your big watch is so chunky that it’s actually managed to make the Booker look small, which is pretty impressive.” Natsumi frowns, peering at the screen on her camera, and then shifts slightly as Sougo adjusts the placement of the Ride Booker. “Yeah, there we go, that looks nice.”

She takes several pictures. They’re working outside in the sun, so she doesn’t use the flash, and after ten or so shots she nods in satisfaction and Sougo says, “Do you want me to rearrange them?”

“No, that’s fine, I’ve got what I wanted. Here, toss me the Booker, you can take your watch now.“

“Ok, here. Why did you want a picture of the Grand Zi-O watch?”

She shrugs. “I don’t get to do a lot of still photography, most of the studio’s business is portraits. I thought it’d be a nice change.” The Ride Booker goes into her bag, her camera goes back into its case, and she sits down on the bench they were using as a platform for the set-up. “Besides, the weather’s good today, it’s a nice excuse to get outside and get some fresh air.”

The Grand Zi-O watch fizzes away, presumably back to the bedside table in Sougo’s room, and he sits down next to Natsumi. “It is nice out today, yeah. But I mean, like. Why Rider stuff? Why not, I don’t know, nature photography?”

“Because I don’t get out in nature as much as I’d like, but Rider stuff’s been a lot of my life. Tsukasa takes all kinds of photos of Rider stuff, of course, and they’re kinda great for what they are, but they’re not really practical records. The story of the whole thing matters, and it’s easier if you’ve got clear pictures.”

“The story? What story?”

“Whatever story’s being told. That’s what photography’s for, to tell stories about our lives. You know, like, here’s when Ritsuko got married, and this is when Miki and his sister graduated high school, and here’s when we saved the world the first time and Tsukasa got turned into a giant belt for ten minutes.” She glances over at him and grins. “Anyway, I wanted to get a picture of his transformation whatsit with yours because it’s kind of funny to see him pick up a junior, I think it makes him feel better about himself knowing that he’s not the only one doing what he does.”

Sougo nods, frowning slightly. “Tsukuyomi said you’re a Rider too, but I’ve never seen you carrying anything that looks like Rider stuff, what do you use?”

“Oh, god, she’s around here somewhere.”

“...she?”

“Hey! Kiva-la! I know you’re here!”

And a little purple-and-white bat flits into view and says, “Obviously I’m here, what do you want?”

“Sougo wanted to know what I transform with. See,” to Sougo, “Tsukasa and Daiki just get cards, Yuusuke’s got his stone, but if I need to do hero stuff I have to deal with her.”

Sougo stares at Kiva-la wide-eyed for a moment before saying, “It’s, uh, nice to meet you? Ma’am?”

Kiva-la turns a loop-de-loop in the air. “I like him! No one’s ever polite to me! Anyway,” with a pout in her tiny voice, “Tsukasa said to tell you it’s time for dinner.”

The whole building smells like frying dumplings and cooking soup and good food in general, and Yuusuke and Geiz straighten up and put the lid back onto the back of the toilet moments before Woz says, in his most carrying, I-Am-Making-An-Announcement voice, “It is time for dinner,” echoed by Yuzuki’s enthusiastic shout of, “Dinner!”

Yuusuke’s face lights up. “Oh, perfect timing. Here, wash your hands, I’ll wash mine, and we can both head down.”

“Sounds good.” Geiz turns on the water and starts scrubbing his hands vigorously. “Thanks for showing me that, by the way, everyone else here is useless at repairs.”

“I mean, I don’t know that I’d put it that way...”

“No, seriously, I live with Sougo, he’s a space case. And Woz is...he’s Woz. He’s great, but he’s also Woz.” Geiz backs away from the sink and grabs a towel to dry his hands as Yuusuke starts to wash his. “Why’d you want to, though? Like I appreciate it, but what made you want to teach me something like this?”

“I like fixing things, and you seem like someone who needs to find more ways to relax.” Yuusuke accepts another hand towel. “Rider stuff is exhausting, it’s nice knowing how to do normal things too. Wow that all smells good, I’m so excited to eat a meal that I didn’t have to cook any of myself.”

As they head for the stairs, Geiz says, “No offense, but you seem...different, somehow, from Tsukasa and Daiki and Natsumi.”

“That’s because they’re huge drama queens.” Yuusuke grins at him. “I love them so much, you have no idea, but if we were all like that then nothing would ever get done around the house.”

Geiz stifles laughter.

Yuusuke’s grin just gets wider. “See, I knew you’d get it.”
