Sometimes I just get silly ideas in my head, but I am not an artist so I can't make them into pictures that everyone else can see. So instead I reach out to amazing artists to make them for me.

I commissioned this from the incomparable @ninjaphile :

This is a silly thing that happened as a combination of me writing Bulla as an absolute menace in the little holiday Truten one-shot I wrote for Lawnchair and my writer friends comparing me to Darla Dimple from the movie Cats Don't Dance.

I love it so much, and it brings me immense joy. Thank you Ninja, you amazing and wonderful artist!

Ellie has 1000% tried to convince Joel to let her give him a piggyback ride. She's totally convinced she can carry him on her back, while he is totally convinced she'd drop him on his ass.

Ellie: C'mon Joel, I'm like 150% sure I can totally carry you! You're not that heavy, probably only like... 200 pounds tops. I bet I could bench press a small bear.

Joel: *side eyes her skeptically* Uh huh. And I'm 1000% sure you'd drop my ass the second I climb on your back. I've seen you trip over air, Ellie.

Ellie: Hey! That was ONE TIME and there was like, a giant crack in the ground and—

Joel: —And the ground was flat as a pancake, yeah I was there. No way am I trusting my 200 pounds of pure man muscle to your scrawny 100 pounds of spaghetti noodle arms.

Ellie: My arms are NOT scrawny! I'll have you know I can hold my own weight for like... 30 seconds before collapsing! And I'm super fast, I could totes run away from danger with you on my back.

Joel: For 2.5 seconds before face planting and leaving me to die? No thanks. I prefer to keep my face attached to my skull, if it's all the same to you.

Ellie: Sheesh, you're no fun! I could SO carry you! I'd be like one of those bucking broncos at the rodeo and you'd be the fancy cowboy hat! We'd be a regular western duo.

Joel: More like you'd be the dumb horse that threw its rider into a cactus. Hard pass.

it cracks me up that there was a secret society of American journalists who, from 1965 to 2006, slipped the phrase "it was as if some occult hand..." into articles

this all started when one guy used the phrase in an article and his friends thought it was so hilariously out of place that they all started using it

it drove their editors crazy but they kept doing it

that was like. the whole thing. they called it the Order of the Occult Hand and all it did was put a random metaphor into as many news articles as possible

they picked a new phrase in the early 00s, which has not been revealed yet- to my knowledge
