I for one would like to know more about the sonic boom stone AU :]
I wrote a fic abt it here
But If you wanna know more:
(Some of this is about the AU in general not just stone)
-Stone's backstory is very similar to the events of the comics (He got his boss arrested and took over the shop)
-Eggman and Stone are boss and henchman at first, but eventually it turns into something more when he (Eggman) join a dating game show against Balinda and Charlie, they pretend to be dating, at the very end Stone confesses that he has always had feelings for Eggman and Eggman's the same (they lost the damn show cause the host found out they were pretending)
-Stone's favorite member of team Sonic is Tails
-His least favorite is Sticks for... obvious reasons
-Stone and Shadow form a father and son/daughter (depending on when I'm gonna trans Shadows gender in the Au, she's transfem) relationship because of muffins and coffee, Shadow claims that he's "the only person worth talking to in this village"
-Stone is a homewrecker...like literally, he sends married people fake love letters with aliases and makes sure their spouses find it.
-Stone has beef with Dave the intern, and not the fake kind meh burger serves.
-Maria is alive in this AU, she's also a supervillain like robotnik.
-Shadow was put in stasis when he was 15, he was separated from Maria and that's what caused her to become evil.
-She crashed the lab 30 years later (the timing matters so sorry not 50 years 😞) and freed Shadow
-They caused mayhem on an island different from Sonic and team's island, it had it's own set of heroes which I have not decided who they are yet.
-A literal squabble between Shadow and Maria made Shadow leave the island totally pissed and move to sonic and team's island.
-Stone's relationship with Eggman's family is......okay, mombot didn't like him AT ALL at first so he rewired her into liking him (Eggman doesn't know)
-Morpho/Steve tried to persuade Stone into becoming his assistant after a fight he (stone) had with Eggman (that's flirting in villain language) so he doesn't like Morpho very much.
-He ADORES Maria, When mombot found out that Eggman's cousin is still alive she called for an immediate family reunion.
-He loves Orbot and Cubot when they're not fucking shit up, their relationship is like Benson and Mordecai and Rigby, he's basically their second more chill boss.
-When Stone is not home wrecking he's being a matchmaker, he gives relationship advice to sonic team and he is partially responsible for Sticks and Shadow getting together.
#agent stone#sonic boom#ark siblings#maria robotnik#doctor eggman#yayyy I'm so happy to get an ask abt this AU#stobotnik#eggspresso

I'll understand if you wanna keep those answers to yoursleves, but in case it's ok to ask, this question is for mama, Star, multi and everyone else who wanna answer.
Wich Sonic Boom episode is your favorite, wich one you find the funniest and wich one is your least favorite?
Reasons why would be appreciate but not nescessary
Three megafans with many thoughts = long post! Buckle up!
MULTI:
FAVORITE: A tie between "The Meteor" and "In the Midnight Hour". I'm a sucker for body swapping tropes. Hearing Roger Craig Smith and Mike Pollock take on each others roles was a lot of fun. The animation team also put in a lot of work to have them swap mannerisms such as Eggman reaching for a moustache he didn't have in Sonic's body or Sonic trying to run like himself in Eggman's. "In the Midnight Hour" was a solid Stick's centered episode with a really cool robot as the main antagonist. I love Dreamcaster's design. The mind control plot also helped inspire Robo-Sonic 1.0!
FUNNIEST: Probably "Alone Again, Unnaturally". There's specific scenes in other episodes that make me laugh harder, but this episode generally makes me smile throughout. Sonic being completely oblivious to why he's trapped out of phase and his "haunting" of Eggman's lair always cracks me up.
LEAST FAVORITE: Another tie, this time between "Counter-Productive" or "Knuck Knuck! Who's Here?" Both these episode base their plots around Knuckles just... being an idiot. I can't stand plots that are only motivated by characters being dumb, especially coming from someone that really shouldn't be. Charlie and his wife are fun villains, but I hate that I sympathize more with them than I do Knuckles when watching these episodes. I'm not laughing. I just feel bad for everyone.
STAR:
FAVORITE: A tie between "Fiend Bot" and "Role Models". Sonic acquiring a giant killer robot that wants nothing but his safety and to follow him everywhere is one of the cutest concepts in the show. "Role Models" was a fun episode because of the ridiculous premise that I find hilarious. I also love "Robots From the Sky" Especially because of Mighton and Bolts <3
FUNNIEST: A tie between "Double Doomsday" and "Alone Again, Unnaturally". I agree with all the reasons Multi said about the latter. My favorite joke in the entire show is Sonic trashing Eggman's lair while he's invisible. It's too good. "Double Doomsday" is also hilarious. From the banter between Eggman and Dave through the door Dave locked himself behind, to Eggman getting offended at the way Sonic made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
LEAST FAVORITE: "The Biggest Fan" (I can't watch this one). "Late Night Wars" for making Knuckles look stupid for jokes and both the episodes that Multi mentioned--for the reasons she mentioned--they are unwatchable. I also hate "Knine-to-Five Knuckles" for these reasons as well. I also dislike "Do Not Disturb" for the way the Unbreakable Bond was written.
QWERTY:
FAVORITE: Oh, I have a few that I would watch over and over.
"Cowbot" - Eggman actually made a giant robot cow
"It Takes a Village to Defeat a Hedgehog" - Shadow's just THERE, and just has this beef with Sonic for no reason
"Anything You Can Do I Can Do Worser" - Tails' over competitive nature at play.
"Multi-Tails" - Knux being the bestest babysitter ever
"Cabin Fever" - love eps where they just act like kids
FUNNIEST: I think I have to say "Cabin Fever" is one I just love
LEAST FAVORITE: There are a number I don't like, mostly because they feature characters I don't like, or portray Knux as SUPER dumb, or are just boring. Anything with Nominatus is a hard pass for me. And those frog people.

As a Sonic fan since as far back as i can remember, i don't care for the Sonic Movies. I didn't mind at first but learning that Paramount is Pro-Israel made me rethink a lot of Sonic's character in those movies. Sonic is one of my favorite characters in the franchise (along with Amy) so i can be particular about how Sonic is portrayed (i don't like IDW Sonic). I don't mind different takes but if you don't get him right where it counts i'm gonna complain. I also don't like Knuckles at all in the movies and Tails feels unbelievably tacked on.
I can understand that. I do like... well, Sonic 2, specifically. I think that one has more good than bad, though I'm less fond of Sonic 1 and the Knux show. But I do have my beefs with all of them.
Like. I love Jim Carrey's Eggman, but he's also definitely more Jim Carrey than Eggman. He's very entertaining, somehow managing to be even more of a cartoon character than the CGI anthro protagonists.
Knux is... complicated? Like. I think there's a lot of pushback in the Sonic environment right now against the idea of Knuckles as a dim-witted brute, because that was a popular portrayal for a while. Sonic Boom comes immediately to mind.
Sonic Movie Knux was hailed as a brilliant portrayal because they didn't play him as stupid, but instead focused on him as a proud warrior clan type. But also... they kinda did play him as stupid? It's just that they were making "Knux doesn't get it because of culture shock" jokes instead of "Knux is just stupid" jokes. Which is really just a different angle on the same thing.
I think Idris Elba's performance carried a lot of his reception. Also that a lot of his stupid moments are funny. But. Like. The complaint was never that he wasn't funny. Boom Knuckles is funny too. It still sucks to see him reduced to a comical goon.
Contrast his portrayal in Frontiers. Frontiers Knuckles actually gets to express his knowledge and expertise. He talks at length about Angel Island history and architecture, comparing them to the current environment; Things that would reasonably be within his field of expertise.
And then there's Tom....
...
...
...existing, honestly? I don't like Tom. He's here because Paramount has no faith in the Sonic IP to carry a film and thinks the audience really wants to see a relatable self-insert in order to be invested in the film.
You're not really supposed to be rooting for Sonic as "the protagonist". You're supposed to be rooting for Sonic as "my kid". The films are made from the P.O.V. of cheering from the stands while your ten-year-old hits a home run in his Little League game. You're meant to be proud of Sonic, not to relate to Sonic.
Which kinda sucks by itself but also the guy they think is a relatable self-insert to project onto? Is a smug white rural cop who yearns to be a Big City Police Officer and has conspicuously unexplored drama with his wife's sister.
Like, Rachel violently despises him for reasons that the films refuse to examine, because they just want to use her to make Sassy Black Woman jokes. And haven't really thought through how it looks when Maddie is married to a fucking cop that her sister ambiguously but firmly insists is the scum of the earth. The implications there went straight over the filmmakers' heads.
It's all just... There's a lot. They made bad decisions with Sonic 1 but managed to find enough success at the box office to justify sequels, and now those bad decisions are baked in. Paramount thinks that's what people want to see. They think people want a Knuckles series that's about another white cop with an alleged heart of gold battling the feds and confronting his personal family drama, guest-starring Knuckles the Echidna.
I like the movies enough to check them out. The second one was a fine enough "Turn your brain off and just look at the lights and sounds" film. I actually had a blast with the "Maddie and Rachel beat the shit out of a bunch of cops" scene that everyone hates. The fights between Sonic and Knux were a lot of fun. Carreyman and Stone steal every scene they're in.
But it is all very not-Sonic.

Even more discussions with @nights-nonsensical-ramblings
Gonna get long because this was one of those "yeah, and" kinda things that just took off.
Okay, so let's talk about "Eggdad" in the sense that when Eggman lands on Angel Island, he encounters this little boy who's completely ignorant of, well, everything. Recognizing the kid has unimaginable strength, and a connection to the most powerful gemstone in the universe, Eggman decides to use him to his own advantage.
Knuckles wouldn't have any idea of right or wrong so he'd just accept anything Eggman would tell him as truth. To Eggman, he's a tool to be used, and is only good so long as he's useful. If he starts to question, or refuse to obey, Eggman wouldn't take too kindly to that, likely delivering punishments that would 'remind' him of who he belongs to.
The question would be, how far would Knuckles go to keep Eggman's 'love'? Would he know, deep down inside, that what he's doing is wrong? Or would he simply go along with Eggman's plans and orders until he sees how Sonic treats Tails, much like he started to question in the movie when Sonic went for Tails instead of the compass?
Maybe after a few battles with the hedgehog and fox, Knuckles starts sneaking around behind Eggman's back, maybe spying on the other boys and watching how Sonic treats Tails, and seeing such a different level of caring going on.
Tails makes a mistake of some kind, and it's still kinda early in his and Sonic's relationship and he's kinda cowering and afraid, and Knux is expecting the boy to be punished because that's what always happened with him.
But then Sonic is kind and gentle and soft with the boy, offering head pats and gentle words and kind comfort and something in Knuckles' chest just aches.
And maybe that makes him angry - it's not fair! Tails made a mistake, he did bad thing and he should be punished! How will he learn not to do it again??
And that makes Knuckles even worse the next time they fight, because he just doesn't understand, and maybe he goes after Tails specifically, and is surprised when Sonic fights even harder to keep the little fox safe.
And he sneaks off after the fight to watch them and Tails is so apologetic that Sonic got hurt because of him and he's crying and just feels so bad, but Sonic just waves it off, and is still so kind to the boy after everything.
And maybe Knuckles tries some things to see if Eggman would be worried for him. Maybe during the next fight he doesn't fight nearly as hard and gets hurt, and he waits for Eggman to worry over him, to tell him he did good and to just rest.
But he doesn't.
Eggman is angry that Knuckles didn't fight harder.
"How dare you let that blue rat get a hit on you! Do you know how many bots I lost because of you??"
And maybe at some point Knuckles tracks the boys down and just kinda confronts them. Sonic's expecting a fight, and goes all prickly, standing in front of Tails to protect him, but Knuckles just stands there, looking awkward and uncomfortable and nervous.
"Why do you treat him like that?"
Sonic paused, an eyebrow arched. "Like what?"
Knuckles gestured between the hedgehog and fox. "Like that. You get hurt for him. You protect him. Why?"
Sonic turned and exchanged a quick glance with Tails, before turning back to the echidna. "Why wouldn't I? He's just a kid."
"So are you."
"So?"
Knuckles quieted, casting his eyes to the side. "Do you punish him when he makes mistakes?"
Silence for a moment. "No. Mistakes teach us stuff we didn't know. They're important."
More silence. Knuckles pulled his lips tight. "When do you punish him, then?"
Sonic bristled even more. "I don't. Punishments don't teach. They only hurt." The echidna flicked his eyes back. He stared at the hedgehog for a moment, brow furrowed and eyes narrowed. Then he looked behind him, at the fox. The boy shrank under his gaze, and Sonic moved to block the boy from view.
"You got a beef, you talk to me. You ain't touching him."
Knuckles curled his lip in a slight snarl, before turning on his heel and hurrying back to base. Eggman would notice him missing soon, and that wouldn't end well for him.
This plants the seed and maybe next time they fight he's even more attentive to how Sonic is protective of Tails, and encourages him, and how Eggman doesn't do the same for Knuckles.
Eggman's yelling out orders and insults and berating Knuckles every time he misses a punch or something, and it just builds inside the echidna's mind until he just snaps and turns on Eggman's bots, destroying them all with ease.
He loved Eggman, he thought Eggman loved him, but seeing a true caring relationship between Sonic and Tails just shoved a dagger into his heart that NO, Eggman doesn't care about him at all.
He destroys all of Eggman's bots, all the while Eggman is yelling at him, ordering him to stop. When the bots are all gone, he returns to Eggman and gathers a fistful of the man's coat to yank him forward, snarling into the human's face.
"I trusted you. I thought you cared about me. I thought you wanted to take care of me."
Eggman's lips turned up into a nasty smirk. "But I did, didn't I? I took you off that island of yours, taught you to speak, taught you about the world around you. Where would you be had I not found you? Still on that primitive island, foraging for berries, living all alone. I gave you focus. Gave you everything. And this is how you repay me?"
And that would give Knuckles pause because it did make sense, in a weird way, and he has these conflicting thoughts and feelings inside him over this.
Eggman wouldn't have done all that if he didn't care, right?
But something else nagged at him, poked at him, and he'd turn to look at Sonic and Tails, at how protective Sonic was with the fox, even now as the lull in the fight is letting the fox poke through the destroyed bots, with Sonic close by, keeping a watchful eye around them.
Knuckles is so confused and pulled in different directions, his only instinct is to retreat, to get away. But Eggman implanted a chip in him for just such an occasion, and with a flick of a switch the echidna is brought to his knees by a strong electrical shock.
Can't let his little minion get away, after all. He has access to the Master Emerald, and besides, Knuckles knows too much about his bases and such, can't just let him wander off, can he? Not to mention that he put a lot of work into this echidna, he's not just letting that go.
Sonic would see the change in Knuckles, though, and would attack Eggman while Tails tries to gain access to the chip and disable it. Yadda yadda, they succeed, and drag Knuckles off with them as Eggman beats a hasty retreat.
Now Knux has to unlearn all the horrible things Eggman taught him about interpersonal relationships, and discover that it's not supposed to hurt to trust someone. In a way Knux would be a lot like Tails in that regard, worrying that everything he did would bring a punishment, or rejection.
Sonic's got a lot of experience in dealing with a kid who'd been abused and abandoned, but it's different dealing with a younger kid than it is with someone who's older than you.
I think Tails would be the one to really reach out to Knux. He's learned from Sonic, and Sonic would feel weird treating Knux like he treats Tails (and honestly I don't think Knux would take too kindly to it anyway) so I could see Tails teaching Knux how to deal with worries and fears.
Knuckles would have had all his survival instincts almost literally beaten out of him, so he has no idea how to survive in the wild anymore. He tries to start a fire in camp one night, and is struggling so hard with it, but doesn't want to ask for help because, y'know, Sonic, so Tails just kinda comes over and gently shows him.
Knuckles sits perfectly still when it's time to eat, not touching the food offered him because Eggman used to laugh at the way he ate because of his mitts, so Knux usually waited until Eggman was done and ate alone.
The other boys notice Knux isn't eating, but they don't say anything about it. After a few nights of this, Tails gets really bothered by it and moves to sit next to the echidna, putting his own food down and sitting still, too. Knux casts him a sideglance, an eyebrow raised in a question, and Tails just looks up at him and says "I'm not gonna eat until you do. It's the polite thing to do."
And after some huffing and scoffing, Knuckles finally picks up his food and starts to eat, hesitantly at first, expecting the laughter and insults.
But none come.
He glances at Tails, who smiles and picks up his own food and starts to eat, too.
As time goes on he becomes very protective of the others, Tails especially, but he and Sonic do sometimes have some good talks late at night while Tails is asleep. Sonic usually starts them as a kind of offhanded comment based on something he's observed. He's good at drawing Knux out if it seems like it's just a shooting the shit kinda campfire chat.
He'll comment about some bird Knuckles had been watching earlier in the day, which eventually brings out that Knuckles had at one time only had wildlife for friends and used to be mostly feral, but lost those skills when Eggman took him in. Now he barely knows how to spend a night outside.
Knuckles doesn't talk much. I feel like when he first got with Eggman he would be so much more talkative and inquisitive and open, but Eggman kind of beat that out of him by belittling him and insulting him and making fun of him for it, so over the years Knux just kinda withdrew and didn't talk much. He doesn't offer information.
He's very observant, but refuses to open his mouth and ask, unless he feels comfortable with the person, and even then it's a 50/50 shot whether he'll talk. And usually it's to Tails. The fox just feels safe. Unthreatening.
I would imagine that when Knux first joins the duo he feels like he's intruding. He sees how close they are, how much Sonic watches out for Tails, he feels like he shouldn't be there, that he's unwelcome and unwanted and shouldn't be wasting their time.
I could see him try to leave at some point, expecting them to want him gone, so he just wants to beat them to it before they get a chance to cut him loose. He gets up in the middle of the night and walks away from camp, only to have a little fox come up behind him and ask where he's going.
The boy takes him by the hand--he touches him in a gentle way--and pulls him back toward the camp.
"C'mon. If you're scared you can snuggle up with me. I do that with Sonic sometimes when I have bad dreams. It helps."
Knuckles doesn't respond, but lets the boy lead him back to camp. Sonic is lying with his back to them, but the hedgehog is awake. He awoke the minute Knuckles got up and walked off. His ear was flicked backward, trained on the two returning to camp, and Knuckles thought Sonic was lying a little too still than normal.
Tails crawled back in his sleeping bag, never letting go of Knuckles' hand. The echidna reluctantly lowered himself back to the ground, where Tails pulled his blanket over to cover him up, as the fox curled into the older boy's side to fall back to sleep.
Knuckles watched Sonic for a few moments, and watched as the ear that had been trained on them flicked back into a more relaxed position. The hedgehog drew in a deep breath, letting it out in a soft exhale, his body relaxing as well.
The echidna turned back to stare at the stars overhead. Sleep took a while to come for him. This was all so strange to him. Confusing, but . . . nice.
At some point he realizes he's not holding his breath whenever they move near him. His chest isn't all tight and constricted when they're around. His stomach isn't tied in knots.
The first time he laughs with them is a surprise to all three. Not just a little lip curl on one edge of his mouth, but a full on belly laugh, where it warms his chest and makes his belly hurt.
And it just feels so good.
The happiest he's felt in a long, long time.
Eggman wouldn't let him take off his gloves. He thought Knux's claws looked weird so he never wanted to see them.
The first time Knuckles took his gloves off with the boys, he tried to do it in secret, but Tails saw him and just stared. And that tightening in Knuckles' chest appeared, his face burning as he fumbled to get his gloves back on as quickly as possible, when the fox came over and gently took hold to bring them closer and examine them better.
"I've never seen anyone with such big claws. They look perfect for digging. I bet you can dig really well!"
And that takes Knux by surprise because he vaguely remembers being underground, the smell of the earth around him a comforting feeling.
"I . . . I don't know. I can't remember."
Tails looks up at him, eyes wide. "Wanna try? Sonic's a pretty good digger but his claws aren't like yours. I bet you could dig a hole much faster than him!"
And oh, doesn't that little challenge make Knuckles want to try.
It's a little rough at first, but once he gets more comfortable with it, oh, you can't stop him. Being underground makes him so comfortable and calm and happy. And his claws finally don't hurt anymore, because now they're doing what they were meant for, and being worn down the way they should have been his whole life.
Sonic and Tails teach Knuckles that trusting someone isn't necessarily a bad thing. And he is so, so grateful for their help. For their friendship.

I love the subtly of Tails not giving a shit about Eggman until the the third act (his main beef instead being Knuckles), and by the time he does focus on him, he uses the opportunity to slaughter his ego like his other counterparts
god i want him to call eggman a bitch in the next movie

Tails: For CaeserFlavor's question towards me. Eggman wrecking my shop twice is partly why I did this. But for the most part, I did it for Cosmo. Having plant biology, she loves to be out under the sunlight on a nice day!
((First of the sort of game recaps. This explains a little more on Cosmo's role during this blog's version of Tails' story in the first Sonic Adventure. From the player's perspective, she'd mostly be an NPC with not too much bearing on the plot but still a cute interaction for Tails nonetheless to add a little more beef to an otherwise pretty short as is story that's mostly tied up with parts of Sonic's.
I also picture that in this case, you would be able to enter the log cabin on the roof of Tails' workshop unlike in the final game. There you could get some more dialogue from her and/or see what she's watching on the TV
Gotta say though, writing this made me wish I could see mockups of what Cosmo would look like in SA1 Graphics (Whether it be Dreamcast or DX models, doesn't matter too much to me). Maybe one day?))

'Show me one time where he's genuinely a good person with good intentions, where selfishness, ego, and desire to survive and save the world so he can rule it isn't involved. There isn't any.' ehh, i don't know, id argue eggman saving tails in lost world counts. dude doesn't need tails to get past the yeti, only sonic. he yells 'tails!' to try and alert him and sounds generally concerned when doing so. He also makes the decision to save him in less than a second, meaning he didn't have time to weigh the pros and cons of saving one of his worst enemies, he just instinctively went to help him. mind you, this doesn't even contradict him threatening to turn tails into mincemeat in sa1, because as he explains, he's a complicated guy *shrug*. not trying to start any drama or anything, but i def believe there are a few stand out moments in game canon when eggmans 'human side' is shown that cant really be explained away without heavily reaching imo
I knew this could possibly be one of the moments someone could raise. But I have a response locked and loaded, I always account for everything and am ready to go lol. And I don't think it requires what I'd consider heavy reaching to explain away because I go by what can be seen/heard of game then carefully think about what it means while considering his character and what tracks with everything we know.
I see Eggman's save of Tails as calculated decision. There are a lot of benefits: Making the team up seem more genuine and convincing, winning Sonic over some more and possibly finally Tails after how hostile they were towards each other, the way the more is up against the D6, the better, and the way Sonic could possibly be less focused on the mission if he lost Tails. Also the bonus of how he'd prefer to kill both Sonic and Tails more personally than some random unplanned battle robot, just like Sonic falling into lava would've been underwhelming.
Eggman could see that he was starting to gain Sonic's reliability when he said that they need him to shut down his machine, while Tails wasn't happy about it and felt like Sonic trusted Eggman more. So if he jumps in and acts like a hero and saves Tails, it's going to help him seem more genuine and possibly win Tails over more too after their beef with each other. It makes sense for him to be prepared to act to seem convincing whatever it may be, even though he of course couldn't have predicted the modified robot to attack him.
I don't purely say this off vibes because when Sonic says "you could've gotten yourself killed" Eggman quickly smiles behind Sonic which makes him seem very suspicious I love it lol
It looks sly and mischievous for a guy who just saved someone's life, it's not giving "he did it out of the goodness of his heart", more like "yes it's working, Sonic said he 'can't figure me out', I'm convincing >:)"
If you think it's not possible that he could've thought that fast to weigh pros and cons, he had the plan to betray Sonic and Tails the moment they got him past the Deadly Six and back to his machine and new Eggrobo all along. So I contextualize everything within this. That gives plenty of time to plan on trying to make his facade of a willingness to work with them without any tricks all the more convincing. This is why I feel that him jumping in to save Tails was more calculated than it appears at first watch.
Plus, we know he can think and act that fast anyway. Because in the Lava Mountain scene where he fakes his death, he was planning to do that the whole time and was prepared but he couldn't have expected for it to be kicked off by the Deadly Six breaking the bridge. Yet he was able to quickly act to save Sonic, so he could still keep the Zeti back while he went to reprogram the machine and he could destroy him himself with his new mech as planned.
Him suddenly thinking fast to save Sonic was for selfish and sinister self motivated reasons, and I think it makes a lot of sense for the same to apply to Tails.
Shrugging it off and saying he's just a complicated guy was also the perfect thing to say that wouldn't make it obvious that he was trying to convince them to keep him around. Because otherwise they would've likely realized it doesn't add up with how he was acting just a couple scenes ago when he said he thinks he "liked it better when [he] was trying to destroy [Tails]" If he dismisses it in such a casual way that can't be disproven, he's not trying too hard to convince them.
But if you think parts of that are a little too speculative, though it does have a little something on screen and the context of why he's teaming up with them to support it, we can also go by how he visibly acts much more blatantly in the later cutscene at Silent Forest, when Tails falls into the trap.
Eggman has no reaction, he just stands and silently watches. Doesn't even have the slightest look of suprise or shock like the Frozen Factory Tails save cutscene, which makes the latter feel more performative of a response while he was right in front of Sonic.
He then gives Sonic a little speech while he's devastated to motivate him, so that he'll "make sure his sacrifice isn't for nothing", his sly way of saying "alright but you've still gotta help me, I'm not letting you get hung up on this" lol
He needs to make sure Sonic won't lose focus of their mission and still work hard and not lose hope, so he can get him past the Zeti and betray him later.
And he just gives a little "eh whatever" shrug while Sonic isn't looking again. Much like how he grinned when Sonic wasn't looking in the other scene. Like when Sonic isn't looking, you see the real same old Eggman and how he really feels about both situations.
It's really funny how much he just doesn't even react or give a fuck in this scene lol. I think it really testifies against him really caring about Tails in his previous save considering this is the next cutscene he's even in.
It makes sense for the reasons behind the save is a combination of performing heroics to seem more reliable in this truce because he was planning to betray them the whole time, along with how he expected Sonic to lose focus of their mission and not perform as well if he was devastated by the loss of Tails. So when he couldn't save him this time, he brings out the little motivating speech since it's all he can do now.
Especially since the modified battle robot would've certainly resulted in Tails' death which of course would've had a heavy impact on Sonic and could've affected his performance, while they weren't sure what the Deadly Six were going to do with Tails though Eggman did think of it as like a "sacrifice". So I see that as explaining his earlier actions of the save.
Like this, I can't think of any others that I wouldn't also have an explanation for that tracks with the way he's selfish and self motivated. Lost World, to me, really seems like another prime example of that instead. I love Lost World Eggman and just how much there is to explore and consider about his actions, knowing that he was using them and was going to betray them the whole time.
Eggman does a have a human side and genuinely human moments in the series because being human isn't being a good person. There are many ways to be. Selfishness is very human too. He has a bunch of human traits and moments that remind us that he's human and none involve him being a genuinely good selfless or caring person because it's not required for him to be.
I haven't seen anything that people use as examples of him being a good person that I can't find reasons to argue against and they don't require any huge reaches or speculation as there are always scenes and dialogue to support my points, like the stuff I used here. The more I go back and reanalyze, I only find more to support them despite my open mind and neutrality looking into it.
I only see a pure evil villain with a funny side who is exclusively self motivated only acts for purely selfish reasons that personally benefit him. Which tracks with the kind of egotist and narcissist he is, it's the strong defining core of his character that influences his mindset, goals, and actions throughout the series consistently. There isn't any scene where I can see any exceptions to this.
I encourage you to have your own take and disagree so we can have a discussion like this though. I understand you're not trying to start drama and respect your perspective, I'm interested to see and discuss and share my thoughts. I understand what it's like for people think it's your intention though, it sucks. This is always a chill space to agree or disagree as long as you're chill about it too. 🤝

1, 2, 7 and 12 for Sonic!
1. Why do you like or dislike this character?
Used to not like him very much, in spite of his good qualities, because of how much he annoyed me with his usually not-that-funny snark, and how said snark would often cause fans to think that somehow translates to Eggman being a harmless joke. And how fans tend to let him get away with things that they'd crucify any other character for because main character bias. And because as long as his portrayal is considered top tier, then it's suddenly no big deal if the rest of the cast is treated like an afterthought at best that only exists to make him look good. I still stand by the opinion that Black Knight fell into that trap despite its otherwise solid portrayal of Sonic, and Frontiers has sadly followed suit... with a not quite as solid Sonic.
Nowadays... he's still not exactly one of my absolute favourites, because all of that still rings true to this day, and beside that, there are simply a ton of other characters in the series that I prefer. (Eggman, Tails, Rouge, Tikal, Blaze, Trip, Vector... Gamma... Omega... the Heavies... Luppy Luppy Man... Moneybags...). But after IDW turned him into Mr. Principles, and Prime turned him into Mr. Funny Penis Man, on top of how other adaptations like SatAM and Archie dropped the ball with him, AND combined with how often fans go one extreme or the other with him and choose to misinterpret him as either a stereotypical superhero or the Punisher... it's easier to appreciate the unique depth and perspective that Game Sonic has.
Note that I always knew the nuance was there. I was never blind to it, and I always gave credit where I felt it was due, like the ending to Secret Rings. It's just easier to do so when the amount of portrayals that catastrophically miss the point have gone into overdrive.
Getting used to writing for him in my fanfic material has also helped me gel with him a bit more (not in a Flynn/Stanley way: I've been very adament on keeping him in-character to the best of my ability, even with the addition of you-know-what involving you-know-which-horsie). I also softened up on him because of how much I now associate him with you. :>
One more thing: I realise that most of my aforementioned issues came down to the fandom rather than Sonic himself. These days, I try my best to separate annoying fan hijinks with the character unless I already hate them on their own merits (Surge and Kit), or said hijinks are unavoidably linked to the reason for my beef with them and thus it can't be put aside so easily. Like the Freedom Fighters being overrated as all hell when they weren't all that and spent a lot of time being dicks, or Sage receiving so much praise for """fleshing Eggman out""" and depth she arguably doesn't have, or my currently soured feelings on Amy due to bias and double standards surrounding her less flattering moments VS that of other characters.
2. Favourite canon thing about this character?
His compassion.
No, not that gaslighting and lecturing with 30 paragraphs bullshit. Game Sonic's compassion. Real compassion.
He might not always know what to say, or how to say it, but he always tries his best with someone as long as they're not an irredeemable villain (unless they've already been defeated and can be potentially reasoned with afterwards, like with Merlina). For all the praise given to him for this, I'd argue it's still one of his most underrated traits, since so many fans think that his somewhat selfish love for adventure and enjoying the thrills mean that he doesn't take saving lives or the wellbeing of others seriously, like it's all just a game to him and nothing more... Meanwhile, Eggman is the one portrayed as understanding and compassionate in fanworks. How the hell does that work.
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
In Sonic's case, I can't think of much specific other than... keeping him in-character, due to how it doesn't happen often, although you could say that about any of the cast under the average fandom pen. I appreciate it when fans truly understand him, and know what they're talking about with him. Now if only there was someone I knew who fit that description... some kind of Sonic Encyclopedia, if you will... ;P
I guess if it counts, I do like it when him and Tails are portrayed as the unbreakable bond that they are in canon, but ONLY if Tails is treated with equal respect and agency. Lot of fans like to overly infantilize him so that Sonic can take care of him, which implies they only see Tails as a useful tool and not a character in his own right.
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
Here's a few. I'll number them (in no particular order) since bullet points always group everything together with no spacing when I use them, which annoys me every time lol.
1. Since he's somewhat of a nomad, Tails' home is the closest thing he has to one.
2. Unless he absolutely has to sleep it off, Sonic tries not to let his hayfever disrupt his morning run. In Green Hill, this usually results in him sneezing every ten seconds.
3. After both Storybook incidents, Sonic would eagerly tell Tails about what he experienced in the Arabian Nights and the Grand Kingdom. Tails, of course, didn't question any of it.
4. Despite their differences, he's proud of Shadow for being able to move on from his past, and become a hero in his own right. He doesn't say it out loud because he knows Shadow would brush it off in his typical Shadow way, and because he knows he doesn't really need to hear it anyway.
5. One time, Sonic mocked Zavok by calling him Bowser. Zavok did not get the joke.
6. Nowadays, Sonic and Rouge get on surprisingly well, as they have more in common than one would expect. Like getting on Knuckles' nerves on occasion, for example.
7. Much like how Amy is her big sister in spirit, Cream considers Sonic a big brother figure.
8. Sonic finds it rather insulting when someone assumes running fast is all he cares about. After all, he has various established hobbies like anyone else, such as reading.
9. He vividly remembers every single place he's been to, no matter how long or how brief he was there. Ironically for someone who doesn't look back, he reminisces on where he's explored with fondness.
10. This is a concept I'm exploring with Stellar, so I'll try not to spoil too much, but as much as Sonic enjoys fighting Eggman despite not treating him lightly (and usually making no effort to save him from situations that should have killed him), he wonders with the escalation of the doctor's plans and ambitions just how long things will last before he has to take him down permanently. Let's just say that certain events in Stellar give Sonic a harsh reminder that at the end of the day, Eggman is not any better than Black Doom, Mephiles, Erazor, etc.
11. The Emerald Coast comic where he reacts poorly to IDW Sonic is canon.

I think the thing I love about forces rewrites is all of the bulletpoints and seeing how different people hit them differently
For example, you always have your core points to hit:
Eggman took over the world
Sonics been locked up for six months
A resistance formed to go against eggman
Tails split from said resistance
Infinite was hired by Eggman and has beef with shadow
Phantom ruby business
But then there’s the questions where you get to decide how close you want to stay to the game and test your creative freedom:
What was shadow doing in the six months?
What did Tails do by himself
Are we keeping Silver? If so how/why is he here?
Do we want to add other people (Blaze, Cream, Babylon Rogues, etc)? If so, how/why are they here?
Is Knuckles still the commander? Or is it Amy?
What happened on the Death Egg?
What exactly does the phantom ruby do?
And most importantly:
What happened in those six months?
Like augh sorry to make this so professional or whatever but this is just such a cool category that exists in sonic fic writing and it’s so cool to me c:

Earlier you speculated that sage would be another Metal Sonic i don't think so First, she clearly remembers what she called "father", Secondly, respecting the enemy while being hostile was drawn with shadow and jet. Furthermore, Metal Sonic, who wants to get revenge on Sonic, and Sage, who shows respect for Sonic, have different character interactions. I don't think she will become a meaningless repeat boss like zavok. I think sage can become tails for Metal Sonic An atmosphere that strengthens him and respects him Or rather, when blaze debuted, she was just Sonic the Fire, but in the next installment, she also explored her world. In other words, I think it's difficult to judge characters that aren't just from one work based on that work alone.
Considering how often Metal Sonic has either been dropped or other robots Eggman has made (I.E. Omega) Eggman has been very dismissive to, I don't think SAGE is gonna be 'like the Tails to Metal Sonic's Sonic' or whatever you claimed here.
Also, what is your damn beef with everyone who doesn't like SAGE? Find people who love SAGE like you do, stop coming over to get huffy and puffy with me.

Can Ian Flynn do what Penders failed to do?
Julie-Su’s first Flynn appearance is in #164, which was just a cameo. A proper appearance is in #165, where she’s interrogating Rouge with Knuckles and Vector. And when the guys are away, Yandere Julie-Su shows up. And we have a reason she loves Knuckles. He makes her feel like something other than a soldier. You could argue that was shown with her acting less serious, but it is nice that there’s an explanation other than “I don’t know why I’m feeling this way”. Rouge proceeds to kick Julie-Su’s butt.
While it is for petty reasons, at least it is more interesting than Vector hating her because she was a villain. Next issue, ignoring the new 25 Years Later storyline, Julie-Su is now rescuing Knuckles. Now she’s showing her prowess as a soldier. Her next appearance is in 172, where she is shown training Amy Rose. That Amy asked her to help train her shows that she is a trusted teacher among the Freedom Fighters. And she even expands upon why she likes Knuckles when Amy reveals she thinks this will get her closer to Sonic like Julie did with Knuckles.
#173 has her upset about being a satellite uplink so Knuckles can communicate with Sally, so that’s funny. I was thinking it was about Knuckles talking about Rouge but she stole the Master Emerald. #174 has her not liking to dress up for ceremonies. We also learn that she doesn’t believe in ceremonies like marriage and Knuckles agrees with her. #175 continues the Julie/Rouge rivalry. And then she gets captured. To be fair, everyone is there except the Sega Four: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy.
Next issue she’s free and shown worried about Charmy who because of brain damage will be acting like his game counterpart. Not everything was good under Flynn. #177, Julie-Su is part of the team that defeated Eggman’s Mech that defeated Sonic one on one. Next issue, she’s trying to convince Knuckles that he shouldn’t go back alone to the Island. Even asking Vector to help talk him out of doing a Solo run. This shows she cares and the two squashed their beef with each other.
#180 has her spying on the Mobotropolis Council when they find out nobody is going to look for Knuckles. And while Julie-Su was okay with leaving them behind since the Chaotix is Vector’s team, Vector assures her that they are going with her to find Knuckles. Too bad to escape they got to take on the Mobotropolis Army. And now it's the Chaotix Vs Sonic who is trying to de-escalate the current situation. While Sonic is easily handling them physically, Julie-Su is winning the war of words.
Luckily Sally is here to tag in and convince the Chaotix to stay as Sonic and Tails do the searching. Even though there are more Chaotix Members, Sonic is faster than all of them and Tails with that Nanite Camera could probably search better than all of them combined. #181 has Julie-Su worried. Especially so when she sees Enerjak attack the Dingo City. Julie continues to worry since Sonic and Tails hasn’t found Knux yet. After all, the last time he faced Enerjak he was vaporized and the Ancient Walkers aren’t here to bring him back.
When she hears Enerjak is coming to Mobotropolis, she fears the worst since that means he’s done with Angel Island and Knuckles is likely dead. Too bad for her the worst is not what she thinks it is. Knuckles is Enerjak. #182 has her trying to convince him to give up the power. He had it before and it only brought pain and suffering. He tries to force her out of her Cybernetics (since he can undo those effects), but Sonic saves her. I don’t see her in the final all out attack, but I presume she’s among them.
She looks so happy when Sonic immediately went to wanting to help Knuckles after Eggman captured him, but an old jerk dragged her and Sonic out of Mobotropolis. #183 has Julie-Su rightfully call out his father for trying to make them destroy Enerjak. Say what you will about Julie-Su but even in the Penders era there is no doubt she cares for Knuckles. The same couldn’t be said about Locke.
While Sonic said “let me see this weapon that can take out Enerjak”, the three face the Destructix which includes Green Evil Sonic. Sadly the numbers aren’t kind of Julie-Su and Locke, not to mention their constant bickering. Luckily the Fire Ant saved the three. While the Ant sides with Julie-Su about not destroying Knuckles, Sonic destroys the weapon.#184 has Julie-Su and the Ant give Locke the verbal beatdown he should have had years ago. The two go on to confront the Echidna responsible for the current situation.
When she finds out the only way to break the Hex is for a sacrifice, she was the first to volunteer. And her and the ant’s speech convinced Locke to do the sacrifice. When Knuckles returned, she tearfully told him what happened to his father. Luckily the guy to blame came back just in time. After he escaped, Julie-Su wanted him to return so they could see he’s alright. He refuses, going back to being the Guardian of the Master Emerald full time.
#186 has her and the Chaotix look for Knuckles as they build a bridge between the Master Emerald and the main island. And thanks to Rouge talking to Knuxs, the group are reunited. #189 has her joining Knuckles, the Chaotix and Sonic attacking Eggman’s new Dark Egg Legion. Her mechanical quill is also a communicator. So as Sonic leaves, they have to handle the backup the Dark Egg Legion got: Dimitri.
Next issue continues their attack, with Julie-Su pointing out how Dimitri sold the Echidnas to Eggman. Julie-Su takes out her sister and everyone is successful. #191 has Julie-Su talking to Knuckles after a little argument with Sonic. Knuckles is in deep emo and Julie-Su tries her best to talk him out of it. Sadly it didn’t work out and she’s upset she argued with him instead of trying to calm him down. Luckily, thanks to Charmy, Knuckles apologizes. And so does she. This comic also has a tie-in comic with the Sonic RPG that was basically the cause of Penders going berserk.
Her next appearance is in #198. Sadly, she’s part of the crowd and doesn’t do anything noteworthy. Next issue, she has a speaking line and is part of an assault against the Dark Egg Legion. Sadly, it does look like Vector and Julie still have a grudge, but they’re so in sync that they don’t want people to find out they like each other. As friends. When on the final stretch, she shows she’s worried about Knuckles after his emo phase. She does nothing of note in #200 other than kiss Knuckles.
Nothing in 201. In 212 it's the Espio show. 221 she was in the crowd when Mina sang that song. And 232 has her siding with Knuckles as she is back to being exposition. Though she does show concern since Sally was a friend of his in the past. And that’s her last appearance in Sonic Archie proper. But now there’s one more spinoff we have to look into: Sonic Universe.
In Issue #4, it is setting up for the next four issues where it is the 30 Years Later story. In #5 Julie-Su is glad Lara-Su is an only child. In Issue 9, we’re back to the present as Julie is with Knux and Mighty at the Dingo Refugee Camp. They’re looking for Finitevus after that Enerjak deal. She doesn’t seem to care about archeology like Knuckles is, since this is not part of the mission. They get trapped thanks to Knuckles by the end of the issue.
Issue #10 continues this story as Julie-Su sees a possible exit that she can take and hopefully stops the trap. She also jokes about any of them wishing to swap Master Emerald Guarding duties with the others. Her tail gets caught in the laser grid but otherwise she escapes. She finds the controls and desperately tries to hack it but fails. In a last ditch effort, she blasts the controls. She’s emotional but is happy when she finds them safe.
They find Fin but he’s too much for Mighty and Julie-Su. Knuckles got him, but then someone is trying to bring the Floating Island back down to the lands. #11 has the Chaotix regroup as they are forced to work with Fin to stop the Robotic Flying Dingos. After being rescued by the Downunda Freedom Fighters, Knuckles asks Julie-Su to go back home with Ray. Because she’s the best fighter to protect the Master Emerald.
#12 finishes this story as Knuckles is almost killed by Fin. Luckily Julie-Su saves him. By the end she’s proud of him for not buying what Fin was selling. And sadly, that’s the last of Julie-Su proper since #27 and #28 are of the Dark Enerjak timeline. There she's a robot slave to Enerjak. So that was Julie-Su under Ian Flynn. Overall, a huge improvement for her as a character. If I knew she was like this, I probably would have done things differently with Juliet Suter. But next week, what I did with her.

EPISODE 2
-why is he just destroying rocls whats happening- OH question answered. he found a chaos emerald and now??? he can teleport??? and now that things have exploded and sonic changed universe he can locate him or can he just always do that?
-also im unclear what shadow's origins are
-oh there you ho explaination.
-FUCK YEAH ROLLER SKATES
-OH HE SAW THE FUTURE or something
-also no nvm he did not explain shadow. he was just like "he's my rival and a buzzkill" I KNEW THAT ALREADY!
-"I know we're fighting again. I'll calm him down" dude. just listen to him? there is no beef? you jsut assumed that if shadow wanted something it was to beat you up.
-i mean he did punch you but thats besides the point.
-"egg is perfect" me when i make a real runny sunny side up
-allriggghttt rebels moment. the're the purple one, don't know her name but know her face.
-SHE'S NOT A CAT?
-also the palm trees awakening them like sleeper agents what. oh they were there before eggman destroyed everything? so i guess what changed is that sonic was just never there to stop him or to unite their friendgroup
-"blue guy" the robot said his name Rouge!
-soundtrack goes hard though
-stresstest compilationa aside, rouge and knuckles to the rescue alright!
-IT'S A TOUPEE?? should've guessed.
-I really want to know how amy got evil. why is she siding with eggman?
-... woah. there's no way that didn't kill people. also ahah i love knuckles. HELL YEAH CIVILIAN UPRISING.
-I get really weirded out everytime they mention it's NYC because it means that the forest with palm trees and mountains Sonic usually lives in is also technically NYC.
-"we gotta join the resistance" hell yeah.
-yeah they gotta explain the difference between paradox and chaos prism. and also now im wondering why shadow is not here- IS SHADOW THE BATTERY? no ok they said it's a crystal. That's the third name for one of those things they've said I don't like it.
-good last words joke lol
-yeah tails looks naked every time i see him.
-the little ear twitch oh lord im weak
-banger entrance
-"eggforcers" lol
-it's like he has low blood sugar. is that what the rings do for him?
-I'm confused on what Nine is tryign to do hacking that. also cool shit with the tails.
-has no one ever seen a edghog? because they identify all the others as the correct animal first try except him... and Amy. What IS amy??
-OH WOW ep 1 was like 50 minutes and this one barely 30??? that felt.. really short. Sonic is about the get fucking murked and then ending credits??? that was weird.
I'll do EPISODE 3 here.
-ok no NOW it's a prism again. also I saw how many episodes there are here and uuuuh I might have overshor my ability to liveblog things.
-back to to the others' pov I see. I love Amy with her hammer. Rose felt weird fighring with her fists.
-"hate to hit and run" i love you you unsufferable idiot.
-that rabbit thing keeps showing up and im starting to think he's important.
-OOOH that's what Nine was doing.
-oh the fact she can just be controlled... is she even Amy anymore? ship of theseus kinda sitaution.
-The laser still going around im gonna cry thats so funny
-INTERNATIONAL?
-KNUCKS?
-Him smiling while Rose says she kills people who don't comply
-I love that Nine started running BEFORE telling them where to go.
-Is sonic finally putting 2 and 2 together? Mayhaps.
-I'm with you Sonic. It IS actually cool.
-I really like the fight scenes they look cool.
-that highfive jsut changed nine's entire life
Sonic: *highfives him*
Nine: "I no longer wanna kill myself"
-ALL OF THEM CAN DO THAT??? THE SPINNY THIGN???
-Dr Deep is a fucking millenial weeb isn't he?
-are... are nine's physical tails thinner than Tails'?
-I love speedster slowmo scenes. This one lacks cool music but it makes up for that with the solemnity of it.
-Oh baby's back. He's gonna regret asking for the old man isn't he?
-they're not doing the infinity symbol over his legs anymore :(
-these sequences really do look like videogame levels. I did no research so it might just be an adaptation of a specific sonic game.
-ok Big and Froggy. Is he realizing?? finally? is he?
-oh hey the infinity is back
-"I gotta help my friends" eh they can handle themselves. and if you have that thing you can rewrite reality so
-oh... it's not the right prism... was it broken? is that what happened? noooo did he end up in a world where he never existed? jsut on accident? how would he have CREATED it? why would breaking the prism do this? are they all over this universe or are there more? and why does sonic have the same energy signature?
-DUDE HURRY UP
-NINE I TRISTED YOU
I'm watching Sonic prime because you can't give me multiverse and unlikely allies and think I won't watch it.
But this is the first piece of Sonic media I've ever consumed (sonic underground doesn't count cause I remember nothing of it, and neither do the films) so. Live blog lmao.
-"Shadow is... Complicated. More on that later" can't wait bro
-Ok rouge the bat is a good guy? I thought she was vaguely anti hero ish.
-what the fuck is a paradox emerald. I stopped at chaos emeralds. What's the difference? How are they created? This one was just... In a cave???
-"sonic boom of a headache" ah ah I see what you did there.
-whats with the knuckles slander!!!
-THATS NEW YORK??????
-so they're not allowed to talk to other people I guess?
-why are they making it seem like it's his shoes that make him fast????
-are rings currency? I was under the impression they were currency. Why is he looking for cash rn
-fickeis???
-he knows what smog is. How does he know what smog is. He lives in a forest.
.
.
Does he live in a forest? It's like... All green.
OH ITS WHAT EGGMAN WANTED! A WORLD RESEMBLING HIM AND NOT SONIC.
-What is the prism shatter??? Do they mean the paradox emerald? So sure they called it the paradox emerald and not the paradox prism.
-WHATS WITH THE TAILS SLANDER!!!
-Yes I know he insulted sonic as well but I think sonic deserved it in that moment.
-ok shadow was just. There. Dudes not even helping. You live here you asshole! Do your part!
-"Tails never gets upset" that's unhealthy!
-is 1992 the year the first sonic game came out? Something tells me that's the year Sonic's first game came out.
-...what's the difference between a trap and a trick?
-why Rouge! The only thing I know is that you're a cat!
-WHY ARE THEY CALLINF IT A PARADOX PRISM NOW?
-the fact the place IS called "the loop-de-loop" and it's not just what Sonic calls it is. Priceless.
-ngl I thought sonic was gonna be more... Sassy? Clever? WITTY! but no. He's a lot more like how I imagined Knuckles to be. Knuckles is my favorite btw. I know nothing of him other than he's vaguely mean and dumb. But not like Shadow's angsty edgy mean. More like a jock kinda mean.
-also no one explained why it's called the paradox prism. Or why Rouge knows what it is/that that's what Eggman was looking for.
-oh there you go end of flashback. Also where the FUCK is shadow. How later sonic? How much later?
-Rusty Rose?? That's Amy isn't it? Like Evil alternate universe Amy.
-i don't know who Babbles is.
-IS THAT A BOP IT?
-Ok no it isn't.
- I don't understand what the shoes malfunctioning means. Is his speed artificial??? Are they like Spider-man's web-shooters?
-EGGMAN IS A FATHER? WHO'S THE MOM???
-Also Rose said there were other rebels. Wonder if it's the same squad- oh they answered my question. Rouge is not Rebel. And I guess Knuckles is also a rebel. Don't know if Tails is gonna be good or not. Cause I remember seeing something about a Tails with robot... Tails.
-YOURE IN AN ALTERNATIVE UNIVERSE! WHY WOULD YOU THINK THINGS WOULD BE THE SAME.
-ok I was right. His name is... Nine? Also these episodes are really long.
-oh he still has the regular tails. It's more of a doc oc situation. I thought they were prosthetics.
-GEEZ "I was trained by the misery of life and this dark and heartless city" GEEZ
-gonna assume he's gonna be like "why'd you save me??? Why would you do this for me??"
-oh lord game footage that's cool as shit.
-sonic is not gonna pierce this together is he? And Nine is not gonna be like "yeah alright this guy is insane"
-MR.DR.EGGMAN. that's... Too much.
-Aww they're doing a little Tails bragging moment. Talking about how they're friends that's sweet.
-CHAOS COUNCIL? We're back to the chaos nomenclature??? what happened to the paradox shit? the hardest part of this is not that I don't have any sonic knowledge, it's that I have SOME sonic lore knowledge gained through osmosis and it's clashing with the lore that they're trying to establish in this cartoon.
-Nine is going for the full spider aesthetic huh?
-yeah. the tails are cool. I've always liked tails too, he's just too smart for me and i feel awkward when i don't understand him.
-COOL SHOES UPGRADE. Ok so the shoes are like... making it so that he doesn't explode due to the natural energy in his body, which i assume is what makes him fast. and that he'd be faster if he didn't have them, but also... more explode-y.
-HE ISN'T MISSING MEMORIES YOU IDIOT
-Oh the baby is back. I don't know how to feel about the baby.
-BLUE STREAK lol
-Ok that's an pixar's incredibles looking trap.
-OH SHIT SHE'S A ROBOT? oh not a robot. Rose is a cyborg and the way she talks about it amkes me sad.
-Nine??? is good or?? confused about his alliances.
-What. who. what. there's a whole family??? is... eggman their dad or?? who's the mom?
-of course he has hair in this "perfect" universe.
-are they like the chaos emeralds that can fuse to become the master emerald? and part of a whole??
-what's with casual dehumanization
-gosh he's such a dumbass but like an annoying one but also like indearingly so?
-I'm never gonna remember which eggaman is which. except babbles cause. yknow. toddler.
-omg the lasers effect is so ucking cool!! thay's a real nice scene ahhhh-
-they're like video games levels. alright. for now I'm really enying the visuals and the storytelling methods. on the story itself i'll see when it really gets going.
-oh no.
-ok I like the baby.
-OH THE PLOT THICKENS! the same energy as what powers the city? is the city powered by the emeralds? or by like- SHADOW??? IS THAT YOU-
-oh flashback 2. I don't know why but somethign about Tails' design looked... off. he felt naked. does he usually have like a scarf? goggles?
-Knuckled is just... hanging on the plane oh lord i'm dying.
-WHAT DO THE RINGS DO??? "in case eggeman gers in a lucky shot: rings" what??
-DOES SHADOW HAVE ROLLERBLADES?? ok he's raising on my list of favourite characters.

Notes on the Takeover:
Tails I'd argue is the smartest person here, yet he's forgotten how to read.
Sonic is audibly either exhausted, depressed, or both. Wtf happened to him in Frontiers (that's a rhetorical question, please don't spoil the game).
Eggman once wore man buns before he lost his hair.
SUPER EGGMAN??????
Queer-coded Shadow my beloved. I'd argue the lavender comment from the previous one was potentially a subtle way of doing this already but it was pretty blatant this time around.
Sonic has personal beef with strawberry shortcake.
Amy and Knuckles are under the impression that only one person can like any given color.
Knuckles exhibiting inattentive-type adhd.
Further confirmation that the Chao that appears in a lot of Shadow art is his personal pet that he loves so very much.
Knuckles leaves Angel Island to watch anime.
Amy seems more coy about her crush on Sonic than in the past, and I'm unsure why this is but regardless I'm interested in how her feelings might be developing.
Bee Movie.
Knuckles the Lizzo fan my beloved.
Shadow really really liked that horse-shaped rock (Shadow is a brony headcanon stay winning)
Shadow still thinks about Maria, but he seems to have come to a much healthier place regarding her memory. He drops her name so casually and seems content to describe his efforts to make the world a better place in her honor.
Cindy Robinson continues to be an amazing voice actress brughhugygyyh
I'm sorry, I'm still not over Sonic sounding way more depressed than Shadow this time around. Wtf is happening, is Roger okay or is this a character choice? Are we doing a Sonic has depression arc? Yeah, Sonic's humor can get pretty dry but holy shit is he good?????
Eggman gets bullied by teenagers for... packing his own lunch.
Shadow's recovery arc continues, I'm still not over how he was written and voiced here. He seems so happy with where his life is currently. He had so much fun in this one, you can hear it in his voice. The contrast between how in his first Takeover he was so hesitant to even do the "aye" in the Macarena but here he sings along happily. His open discussion of his life and his feelings. The way he so easily banters with everyone and makes plans to go to Little Planet with them. They are his friends!!! I wuv him.

Boom!Knuckles Headcanons
I forget if I ever posted these or not, so…here they are.
He has some sort of learning disorder, making it hard for him to understand or retain information.
He also has dyslexia, which is why he can’t read or always be able to tell his left from his right.
Even though he still struggles with reading, he has shown significant improvement lately.
He has ADHD, which is the reason for his short attention span and scatterbrainedness.
Knuckles was abandoned on Angel Island as a child (and later found by Sonic and Tails).
Aside from appreciating its wonder and beauty, another reason he has for loving nature so much is that it was his closest companion before he had any real friends.
The reason why he needs help doing things like brushing his teeth or tying his shoes has nothing to do with his intelligence; actually, it’s simply because smaller objects are harder to handle with his really huge hands.
He is a musical genius, though has yet to fully realize this.
He is also very artistic in general; he’s great at drawing and loves to do arts and crafts.
His seemingly huge ego is actually mostly faked, partly to disguise his low self-esteem, and partly because he wants to be “cool like Sonic” (and envies the hedgehog’s confidence).
He’s jealous of how Sonic gets to be the hero all the time and have all the fans, while he’s lucky if most people even remember he exists. (He might sometimes act a bit resentful towards Sonic because of this, though he doesn’t usually mean to.)
Despite his jealousy though, he considers Sonic his best friend and would take a bullet for him.
He daydreams a lot, and likes to imagine what it’d be like if he was the hero. Unfortunately, sometimes he momentarily forgets what’s reality and what’s not.
His daydreams (particularly the one in “Dude Where’s My Eggman”) basically show what Sonic looks like in his eyes–and no, I don’t mean that he thinks he’s pathetic. Actually, it’s the way he imagines himself that’s what Sonic is like in his eyes (the awesome hero who has all the girls swooning over him), while the way Sonic is depicted in his daydreams is how he sees himself (the clumsy one who keeps messing up, and also looks up to the hero and wants to be just like him someday).
Knuckles tries his best to be traditionally masculine so no one will make fun of him or think he’s gay. Despite this, he is a major softie (for example, he loves cute animals, and he cries at movies), as well as a closeted bisexual person.
Expanding on the bisexual headcanon: He was taught as a child that it was wrong to be gay or bi, so he’s embarrassed and ashamed by the fact that he likes guys as well as girls and acts like a ladies’ man so no one will suspect anything. (However, Sonic will eventually figure out his secret, and tell him that there’s nothing wrong with him liking guys; that it’s just a part of who he is and he should embrace that.)
Knuckles can’t glide in this universe, due to his larger size compared to his main series counterpart.
Similar to his main counterpart, grapes are one of his favorite foods.
He is startled easily, especially by loud noises or someone sneaking up behind him with no warning, which may be because of traumatic events in his childhood.
He has some abandonment issues. This is the main reason why he gets jealous in “Bro-Down Showdown” (because he feels like Sonic is ditching him). This is also because of his childhood; he is used to the people he loves abandoning him for not being “good enough”.
This is also one of the reasons why he has taken up so many hobbies and is so determined to be the best, and even why he got all beefed up–because he feels like he needs to prove himself. (The other reason is simply that he enjoys doing all of these things.)
He was actually quite scrawny and weak as a child, smaller than most echidnas his age. He even had an adorably squeaky, high-pitched voice (which I imagine to sound something like this).
The echidnas (especially the tribe Knuckles is from) are known for their intimidating size and brute strength. Even now, Knuckles is still shorter than most males of his tribe, but his strength is still on par with them, if not even better (which, especially considering how weak he started out as, is VERY impressive).
Because of his weakness as a child, he was shunned by his community, even by his own parents. He was horribly mistreated by almost everyone he knew, abused and eventually abandoned. By the time Sonic and Tails found him, he was a nervous wreck.
Even though he’s at a much better place in life now, his traumatic childhood still affects him. He keeps it mostly repressed however, and has never talked to anyone about it–so nobody even realizes that many of his behaviors are actually closely connected with his past…
He gives the world’s best bear hugs.
He secretly wishes that he received more affection; he longs to be hugged and loved.
