#My art #Webkinz #Diamond #Ukadevlog #Ghostkinz #Ta-dah! My November behind-the-scenes project was this! The poll was for this reason! Though I already knew I'd start with her haha #Have a little preview to start us off - I have Lots of thoughts to each part of development I ended up in but I want to roll them out slowly #Not everything all at once anyway haha - thoughts get all jumbled now that I'm on this side of things pft #I wasn't able to finish A Version I'd be willing to publish in just a month - even then I only worked on Ghostkinz about 3 days a week so #But for the time I spent I'm quite pleased with how its shaped up so far! :D I got to implement a lot!#Actually learning-then-implementing-then-learning-then-implementing - it's a loop I've been out of for such a long time now :0 #Really interesting to fall back into after so long away haha #A lot of my other projects have been Pick Up One Thing and then do that forever and I was tired-tired of that!!#So going into this project knowing that I'd only have November to Get Guud at as much of it as possible and then that was it #I think it helped propel me - didn't end with me getting stuck on Perfecting Just This One Thing #I'd read a bit and then go utilize it and then come back and read some more of Zarla's template/walkthrough - compelling system!#I still couldn't manage to actually finish in a month but I got up to Phase 4!! Previous attempts at Ghost-making has gotten stalled at 1!!#Maaaybe 2 but never anything beyond that - and while I didn't actually Finish any Phase apart from 1 I still read through much much more!#On top of the learning aspect being fun ♪ getting to understand some of the more technical side ahh - it was also just fun to read haha #Like a course that can be silly hehe ♫ Enjoyable even outside of getting to make a little guy for my screen haha #But also yes that too!! I'm really glad I finally settled on an idea that I feel confident in seeing through #The best part about reaching for the Webkinz style is that Webkinz uses vectors - I've gone on record multiple times as loving vectors #They're an exceptionally easy medium to manipulate and that was The Thing that had been holding me back from committing to Ghosts prior #Drawing every single thing when I already struggle to plug in my tablet...no...... But Vectors #You can see here that Diamond's expressions are just a matter of tilting her head and moving her tail - so so soooo simple with vectors #Being able to super-quickly put out a lot of different expressions and animations and piecemeal everything together...yes..........#And for what further I have in mind :3c It's really all I could ask for in an art style to seek ah ♪ Just right for my purposes!#I thought it'd be nice to show off Diamond-for-real as her plush next to her digital version as well :D She's still the only OG8 I have #I want more!! I'd love to have a code for her as well haha - secretly just started this so I can have a digital Diamond lol #Plush-Diamond actually wears a necklace these days but I opted to leave it off her for the photoshoot - maybe once I figure out clothes haha

Also making my favourite characters go through hell and then receiving comfort from their people is like the best thing ever for me so every time I see a whump!Robin post I like automatically

People loving android!Robin makes me so happy anansnssndsnsns she's curious and excitable and full of wonder and the world keeps punishing her for simply being alive. Sometimes it's too painful even for me, big whump lover 😭😭 though seriously, there is not enough Robin whump, and while all the characters in the show are very whumpeable, hurting my little blorbo Robin feels special because... she's just so deeply lonely. She's lonely and she thinks she deserves to be because of something wrong with her (pulling this interpretation from Surviving Hawkins lore which is canon to me 😭). That was a big idea I had when I first came up with android!Robin... that there is something wrong with her. Broken. In this AU she's literally broken in a lot of way (battery and memory problems, weak joints in her lower half, etc), but that's all within the range of normal robot problems. The real issue with her is that she's sentient. It terrifies people because it really brings out the existencial horror of... well, existing. It terrifies Robin most of all. She is the problem. She is what's wrong with her. She shouldn't exist.

But at the same time, she loves being alive so much! She doesn't understand it and doesn't know how it happened, but it happened, and now she's real and wants to experience life and the world and know people like human beings do. So it's her constant battle to become human despite humans having hurt her so much in the past... only for Nancy to already see her as human. Just one made of metal and plastic, but human nonetheless. She's the first person to see her that way and maybe everyone else thinks she's crazy, but Nancy is used to that. She's so sure of this, though, of Robin's self-awareness. She trusts her so blindly. She doesn't even need proof. And not only does she believe her, but she defends her humanity in front of her friends and family so ardently, fighting so hard for Robin to be aknowledged by everyone else as human. Fighting so hard to give her a home and family for the first time in her life.

Nancy has it bad for Robin, really. She's just so in love, even if everyone else thinks she's crazy for falling in love with a machine (no one thinks she is, though, because they all know Robin, and once you know Robin, it's impossible not to love her).

I called it, Ruan Mei is deranged and shady as hell

#I love her #I also said that she the light cone and the light cone description and her last eidolon and some other things #made her feel almost nonexistent or barely there‚ but not in a Herta and Xueyi kind of way #And it seems I was right too? That line‚ 'Life is so colourful‚ but... it has nothing to do with me' reads to me like that for now #Really digging the way Dr. Ratio contrasts or parallels her. How she talks about keeping a serene mask until the situation is ascertained #and talking about emotions and feelings being able to be analysed and dissected‚ the root of which found #In the promotional video immediately after she says the thing about masks‚ Ratio appears talking precisely about the same thing #It's so cool how both also take advantage in their fighting style of the weaknesses of the enemies #Ruan Mei with the weakness break effect and Ratio with the debuffs #Ruan Mei didn't seem as scornful of Ratio and the Guild as Herta seemed but Ruan Mei is also less open #The leaked line of Ratio about her (I can't recall exactly but it wasn't anything we haven't seen in the new Ruan Mei short‚#something about how the true intentions of her research are not what she stated and that she is actually the most ambitious member #of the Genius Society)‚ while not truly negative‚ doesn't seem positive either. But he perhaps isn't as callous #as he is when he talks about Herta and Screwllum. Or perhaps he is being even more so #I'm looking forwards to their interactions and the development of the relationship between the Guild and the Society as a whole #But also the dynamics and problems inside the Genius Society itself #They all seem to have their all personal and selfish agenda which could be source of clash‚ whereas the Guild seems more people driven #Even if they have at times pretty ugly methods. Not they the Genius Society doesn't #Ajfjsjd anyway I wonder if the Ratio and Ruan Mei parallels and contrasts will be truly explored or if it will be left in the air #just to sell either character more #But it seems sooo intriguing and so shady and I'm so into how two faces or representation of the same Aeon or under the same drive #could approach a similarish issue. Or how could one view the other. And how in general all that will develop #I've been looking forwards to more insight on the Guild/Genius Society confrontation since very early on haha #I am loving Ruan Mei *sighs* deranged #I talk too much

#play for today #evelyn #single play #bbc #1972 #rhys adrian #piers haggard #edward woodward #angela scoular #phyllida law #edward de souza #charles bolton #graeme macdonald #Adrian originally wrote Evelyn as a radio play‚ first broadcast on BBC radio 4 in 1969; it was a success‚ winning prizes and #considerable critical acclaim. it is also‚ tho‚ very much a radio play: consisting almost entirely of bedroom conversations between just #two characters‚ as well as phone calls. a challenging thing to adapt for television‚ and this PfT version does seem to have come in for #some criticism bc of its reliance on mannered‚ stylized dialogue (as well as fairly frequent nudity‚ a non issue on radio of course but #fairly unusual on british tv in 1971). it is mannered‚ it is very much not 'natural' in performance and feels very stagey in that specific #mid century way‚ but i dont think it's an unsuccessful bit of tv. Eddy boy is an anonymous business type obsessed with his age and gripped #by midlife crisis; he's having an affair with the younger‚ seemingly more free spirited Scoular‚ herself married. their artificial bliss #(much repetition of 'i do love you' and how 'wonderful' the sex is) is undermined by the fact that she still loves her husband‚ and also #loves several other young men she has also taken as lovers. Woodward's quiet gnawing paranoia and haunted feelings of inadequacy are #beautifully played‚ as is the gradual revelation of Scoular's rather shallow nature (she repeats the same lines and declarations of love #verbatim to other men on the phone)‚ as is Woodward's difficulty in reconciling his hypocrisy; he invents a fictional girlfriend‚ Evelyn‚#to try and make Scoular jealous and presumably more possessive of him. it's a rather bleak little thing‚ although frequently quite witty #and the performances are all quite excellent. it also feels very 1970s in its foregrounding of Woodward's insecurity over‚ for example‚ the #feelings of (or effect on) his wife (a sharply written P Law who makes just two brief appearances at the very beginning and end)#it won't be to many modern viewers tastes i suppose‚ but this does have.. something. and at the very least Eddy gets to do his mildly #neurotic thing without it having the underlying sense of brittle violence (just mildly pathetic middle aged angst)#PfT would move away from this style of drama as the series developed‚ favouring social realism over theatrical artifice
