Sometimes I want to interact with the ace attorney fandom more often but then I get annoyed at the stupidest things.
One of my biggest pet peeves if you will, is anytime someone calls Miles Edgeworth just Edgeworth. (This annoyed me in the game too…) Like something about calling him simply Edgeworth is so dehumanizing to me. (I can explain)
We watch Manfred Von Karma dehumanize Miles right from the start: like the fact that HE calls Miles ‘Edgeworth’ is so telling. This dude is ‘raising’ this kid and he’s not even on a first name bases with him…. (I could go on about the way Miles only called him sir too…) It’s like he’s reduced him down to associating him with his dad, (as in like reducing Miles to his family name if that makes sense) which he hated (..he killed him for what…his stupid ego…) and I also believe that Miles’ identity is a huge part of his character arc. Thru his entire journal Miles is trying to find himself. He’s not trying to be Manfred and he’s not trying to be his dad either. (Of course he idolized and loved his dad very much) but a huge part of him didn’t want to walk in the shadow of someone else (I believe Manfred wore him down emotionally and physically when Miles was trying so hard to please him)
it’s draining to want to live up to someone’s expectations and you can’t please them. It’s like hitting a brick wall over and over again. Miles needed to break that cycle. He needed to become his own person. He’s Miles Edgeworth and nothing less than that! Anyways. I think we should normalize calling Miles, Miles!

NOTE: Noticed a bunch of my mutuals reblogging terf and radfem shit so right off the bat if you reblog shit like "misogyny kills and rapes but misandry hurts a little bitch boy's feelings" (yes this is an actual post I saw) FUCK OFF. YOU'RE NOT WELCOME HERE BITCH.
Sup! Name's Adam, but you can just call me Sobek, that works too.
I use he'/him, or هو/هذا or literally just any masculine arabic pronouns. Also I'm AroAce
Side note I am very very forgetful so if you sent me an ask/dm and I haven't responded to it I am so so sorry
VERY AUTISTIC ABOUT THE HELLAVERSE BUT I GENUINELY HATE THE WRITING AND A LOT OF THE DESIGNS. VERY OPEN TO CRITICAL DISCUSSION ABOUT IT JUST PLEASEEEEE BE NICE.
I have many fandoms and interests, but rn I am mainly into these:
Carmen Sandiego 2019
Ace Attorney (mainly the og trilogy)
Roblox Piggy (yes the peppa pig granny game)
Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra
The Music Freaks (though i dont post abt it much anymore)
Roblox Pressure
Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss (don't support vivziepop though, and I hate canon so much I need to save these characters from viv's stories especially Adam)
Fairly Oddparents
The Stanley Parable
Mouthwashing
Main kins: Drew (TMF), Milly (TMF), Adam (HH), The Narrator (TSP)
My Faves from each fandom.
I will blast any Drew-anti or Adam hater into the Sun I don't have the fucking energy to deal with yall anymore 👍
ALSO- I'm not in the slightest bit normal about chemistry. If you have any chemistry facts or resources or anything PLEASE SEND THEM WAY I BEG OF YOU I LOVE CHEMISTRY MORE THAN I LOVE MY FAMILY. And if you're my mutual I'd be more than willing to tell you any chem fact as long as I know the answer, nd if I don't I'll look into it and tell you what I found. ANYTHING FOR NEW CHEMISTRY KNOWLEDGE!
Btw I hate Hydrogen. So fucking much. I've memorised the entire periodic table in order and it's still my most hated element. If it wouldn't have disastrous consequences, I would've destroyed every Hydrogen atom, ion or compound ever. Periodic table design critical too FYI
My main rules for interacting are keeping things SFW, and passing my vibe check. Also don't be a creep.
Uh i cant be bothered to look for my old intropost so this is it for now lol
Please don't ask me for donations!

How do you write dialogue for characters like Genshin and Klint that don't really have much dialogue to work with in game? You always seem to capture them so well. Is it just based off what little we have in canon plus headcanons of their personalities?
I ask because sometimes I doubt whether my Genshin in my stories "sounds like him" even though there's not much to work with anyway 😅
And don't even get me started on writing Klint, lol
Thank you im glad you think I capture them well💕
I was doubtful about my characterization at first of the two especially that as you said we don't have much to go with with these two.
But when I voiced my concerns to someone they told me an answer that stuck with me. There is no right or wrong characterization when it comes to characters that we barely know anything about . They're like an empty canvas (you can treat them like an OC) so really do what you see fit with them lol.
Im an artist, not a writer. Writing and giving characters personalities are not things im really good at- in both English and my mother language- but I love to make these little scenarios and dialogs in my comics and sketches for fun. I don't take them so seriously.
As for my process of writing dialogs and making their personality, it wasn't a linear process as I keep changing things and going back and forth between some steps and HC but roughly it can be summarised in the following:
1-taking the little snippets we know about the characters in canon: either from the obvious facts that are given to us like how Genshin's weakness was Kazuma, or from not very obvious facts like how genshin used a western sword to duel Klimt. This means that he was taught how to fight with the Western sword possibly during his stay in Britain (now who taught him is unknown but since I can think of no one besides the van Zieks as people who have a sword attached to their hip in the game I'm gonna assume it was Klimt)
2-looking at the official character art: usually ace attorney characters show so much personality through their character design and official art in general. You can know so much from their expressions and stance
3- basing some characteristics or HC on real life: either based on family members, and friends or even me sometimes if said person has some resemblance to that character
4-make up scenarios: so I don't know how writers usually come up with the bases for their stories but the way I usually do it is by making up scenarios in my head when im doing something that doesn't require my full attention like doing chores or working out. Literally, the majority of my comics are me daydreaming lol.
Of course, after I come up with a concept I write it down and start brainstorming for a dialog that fits the personalities I gave them from the previous steps and that's it!
Naturally, characters like genshin and Klimt are gonna differ in terms of personality from one person to another since very little is known about them so don't worry about the differences in characterization in the fandom too much. Differences are normal and what makes fandoms fun tbh, to see everyone's perspectives of the same character.
Thank you for asking me!💕

What do you think about middle aged sunflower ????
Okay I'm going to pretend I'm normal and didn't just have a conversation about it yesterday within which I had to restrict myself because of Discord's stupid character limit
Anyway. Gonna talk about fanfics briefly, because fics tend to get more complex with characterization.
A while ago, I got really into Marvel, and for two months I did nearly nothing except read spideypool fanfic all day and night. If you know anything about these two (that isn't from the MCU) (I hate the MCU, I hate it so so much, this is not who Spidey fundamentally is, he is supposed to be a friendly neighborhood loner loser and you Cannot just give him an Iron Man suit and a mentorship with Stark and intergalactic missions at 16 or however old he is in those movies when the essence of the character is that he is an average struggling teenager who just happens to get superpowers and fucks up a lot at the beginning of his journey and mostly works alone and quit the fucking Avengers himself) (wow I started rambling sorry. Ignore that), you'll know that they are both around... 25-30ish, currently. Something like that. The only other fandom that I read as many fanfics of was Ace Attorney, where depending on the timeline, they can be from 23 to like, 35 with a kid. So I'd say me being so invested in a ship with 16 year-olds is... kind of an anomaly.
I don't usually like the coming-of-age, teenage love stuff, and I honestly have never found a single sunflower schoolfic I liked (except Spiral of course but even then they're in college) because all of them tend to... infantilize both Sunny and Basil at great length. And also tear down anything that makes them interesting characters. I think a lot of OMORI artists (that includes writers) are very afraid of doing anything substantial with teenagers, despite, you know, the actual plot of the game, and as a result, a lot of the time most fics where the characters aren't aged up tend to be... incredibly boring. Of course there are some that are good — exceptional even — but in the end all I can think of is the huge gap in... quality? that sounds wrong to say about a creative thing... interesting-ness, let's say (a very personal and subjective concept), when I stopped reading Marvel and went back to OMORI. I stopped reading fanfics altogether because I just couldn't find one I liked as much as the average Marvel fic that I hadn't already read.
Maybe it's a result of the writers themselves being young? I know OMORI's fanbase is generally a lot younger than Marvel's, so that could affect it. I mentioned schoolfics because there's a lot of them and because they were mentioned in my rant yesterday, but it's not really about the fact that they're schoolfics, it's about the fact that more often than not, the setting is the plot, and since it's just your average highschooler writing their favorite blorbos into their own environment and projecting (which is very cool btw, 99% of my own writing is projecting), the plot is... basically nonexistant. It's boring. It's boring and the characterization is usually dull. But even outside of schoolfics, I think I stopped trying to read fics that start with Sunny getting out of the hospital after the True Ending for the same reason : it's often plain and plotless and boring. And, fuck, my favorite books and mangas and such are slice of life, I'm all for mundane plots! But there's a difference between a mundane plot/realism and just no plot at all.
(This is not, like, an attack of OMORI writers who make schoolfics or fics that start with the above mentioned premise, btw, I want to make that very clear. It's very much a personal preference. I think it's boring because all of the fics I read in Marvel had a very unique plot/premise is my point. And also because the characters were a lot more mature and complex. Different strokes for different folks)
I think that's what I'm kind of sad about. OMORI characters tend to be complex and morally grey in their own way, and people tend to forget about that because they're teenagers and obviously no one can do no wrong before the ripe age of 18. Children are all innocent and therefore cannot be more morally complex than cinnamon roll soft boys/girls (looking pointedly at Sunny, Aubrey and Basil. But mostly Basil). Also, I think people tend to straight-up forget that 16 year-olds aren't, like, 10? Of course they're not going to be as mature as grown adults, especially Sunny OMORI, Dissociative Amnesia World Champion, but like... When I was 16 reading OMORI fanfics, half the time I was like "a 16 year-old would not fucking say that". But also generally more mature characters are inevitably more interesting to explore to me because I prefer more mature themes — I'm simply extremely upset at the fact that people don't explore the complexity that's already there when they're 16, including the very mature themes that are already there.
TL;DR: I love middle aged sunflower, I love middle aged ships in general ! In fact, I will tend to prefer sunflower when it's aged up.
(... I probably should've led with that.)

Do you have any fic recs for any fandoms you’re currently obsessed with?
Hmmmm well the three main fandoms I kinda rotate thru currently are The Great Ace Attorney(brry), Metal Gear(otasune), and Dungeon Meshi (labru)
I put it under cut cause I kept getting side tracking talking lol
I can start with labru but I actually haven't read that many fanfic? Mostly cause when I first looked up the tags I was suprised there wasn't much fic at all. But also not suprised cause the anime hadn't even revealed kabrus 1 secret (and the anime wouldn't even touch his 2nd secret this last season 🥲) so I thought I'd just wait till fics start accumulating before diving back in (if anything I need recs lol)
Accurate Models of course. Its the first fic recc's to me and it even inspired some fanart lol modern au. Kabru becomes obessed with the youtuber that does monster dildo reviews
Let's see for otasune....well I'll warn u. Mgs is probably the least friendly diving in blind given that that the lore is just Insane. But also like some in game info reveals are just so so special....it flavors the lore....
Half Way Hungry which I thought was real cute. Post series. Laios finds out Kabru has feelings for him and starts?? Writing in a journal studying him like one of his monsters?????
Aaandddd
Currently waiting for Games People Play and Empyrean, From the Summit to update (cursed laios who needs to get married or else he DIES and painter who takes interest in kabru...)
Anyways.
Hello World series. A Lot of pre-slash build up. They grow together, they trust each other, they love each other and oouuuggggg
to me otasune really is about 2 dudes surrounded by insane people and situations find each other and??? Proceeding to have a normal, stable loving relationship....and I cry cause canonly they just stay together forever buhuhuh....sorry I got caught in my feelings where was I
And then Baroryuu. Which....probably has the least amount of fics between all these ships but the one I want to just dump onto u lol
Anything by bosstoaster honestly. In Other Words for something silly. Moving Forward Using All My Breath for developing relationships in snapshots. And fuck it Feel This Static for abo porn ahaha AND THEIR BEAUTY AND THE BEAST AU
(What can I say. Toaster never misses)
(Also I think any other recs after this might be just porny feeling one shots.....)
Theophany . THEEE FIC FOR BAROK BEING WEIRDLY RELIGIOUS ABOUT RYUu and ryuu being like.....cool 👍
Shizi also one of my favs. IT'S so sweet and moody and bite sized, established brry pretending they're newly weds hehehehe
Judicial Assistant Barok Van Zieks. Barok visiting ryuu in japan decides to help ryuu with his confidence by becoming his assistant
Chaper and Verse is one currently ongoing. It's baroryuu book club!!! (With ryuu torturing Barok with his book choices )
The Fanged and the faithful. WEREWOLF AU WEREWOLF AU WEREWOLF AU.
With Claret Conviction which is also ongoing (and im definatly biased because it's the exact phantom au spin on them I've been wanting)
Grinding my teeth cause I want to add more but also maybe this is getting too long so I'll just....leave it there OTL
Anyways I hope u find something nice to read in any of this :D

Overruled!
Tumblr media
One of my white whales in gaming was Ace Attorney Investigations: Prosecutor's Gambit. Much like The Great Ace Attorney duology, for many years after it was released, there was no localisation. Some attributed it to the fact that the first Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth sold poorly. Others said it was due to the difficulties of translating the subject matter for a Western audience. Despite this, there was a fan translation of the game. One that was painstakingly cobbled together by those in the fandom.
While I never did play through the fan translated version (it involved far too much shady downloading of online ROMs), I did watch snippets of a playthrough.
Alas, watching a game isn't the same as playing it. At least, when it comes to me.
The joy I would have normally derived from playing through an Ace Attorney game simply wasn't there for me. Besides, I had so many other games I needed to get through. And, upon stumbling upon the Danganronpa series, I could have fun with solving murders in an entirely new setting! More than that, I could also be involved in hackney-styled trials, and where, after a case is solved, the punishment for said crime is DEATH! All in gory pink blood.
My love affair, of course, with the Danganronpa series will have to wait, however, for another post (when I play and finish Master Detective Archives: Rain Code. I will get there! Eventually!).
So, imagine my surprise that shortly upon releasing the Apollo Justice trilogy, CAPCOM announced the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection for release in 2024!
Although, I suppose I should not have been surprised. They DID release the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles only a few years back despite the fact many feared it would never come to the West.
It was with glee that I grabbed hold of the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection that I set about playing through it. I may have been behind on 2023 and 2024 game releases but Miles Edgeworth standalone games were a top priority! And even though I'd already played the first game in the collection, I would gladly do it again (Turnabout Ablaze notwithstanding)!
After all, given how I write up game impressions on the internet, it doesn't seem like proper journalism if I only play only one of the games.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Ace Attorney Investigations games, as previously stated, stars Miles Edgeworth as the playable character. The first game sees the star prosecutor of Japanifornia getting involved in numerous murder cases in quick succession. The poor man is even knocked out a few times too. He's even falsely accused. Despite this, our favourite cravat-wearing-British-accented (and possibly gay or aroace) rival remains cool and calm in the face of danger (the only instance being when he was tied up during the kidnapping incident at Gatewater Land).
Many of the cases in the first game are quite quick, taking only a few hours to get through. And while each murder case Miles tangles with are intriguing in their own right (with some fairly strong writing in terms of characters and the build-up of deducing the murderer), there is also an overarching narrative of an international smuggling ring. One that Interpol is trying to track down, and which the whip-happy Franziska von Karma has been assigned (I honestly forget she's only 19 sometimes).
Speaking of which, I do like how Investigations provides some deeper insight in Franziska. As with many of the characters in the franchise, she has daddy issues. Something which is pointed out in Investigations 2 (honestly, the whole game that is Prosecutor's Gambit should be called Daddy Issues).
In the end, Miles, in the four days from his return trip overseas (which is a little absurd given the timeframe) manages to uncover the mastermind behind the smuggling ring. He also solves four murders, reunite with a young girl who used his cravat as a tissue seven years ago, and attend a Steel Samurai show at a foreign embassy!
Talk about a whirlwind number of days!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, one does not simply talk about Investigations without complaining about the last episode: Turnabout Ablaze. Back in my younger days, playing it on the Nintendo DS, I remember being frustrated at how long this last case felt. Especially when Miles is able to quickly deduce Alba's involvement. But due to his status as ambassador and the rules around extraterritoriality, Miles and the team were hard-placed to have the ex-general arrested.
And I wasn't the only one! After discussing it with bleachpanda, even she had grown tired of the endless back and forth between Ambassador Alba and Miles. All the 'Hold It's' and interruptions from every single side character just to nail the man.
Still, I like to think it was all worth it in the end.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That said, I'm surprised people weren't arrested more and evidence scrounged up later. Especially in instances where there was sufficient suspicion cast on the likes of many of the murderers in the second game.
In contrast with the first Investigations, Prosecutor's Gambit was a much more personal case. No longer were Miles and the gang dealing with an international smuggling ring run by a foreign ambassador. True, there was Kay Faraday's backstory and trauma to dig through in the first game, but Prosecutor's Gambit also added further depth to Miles and his quest for the truth. The themes in Prosecutor's Gambit were far more complex and I loved the new additions to the cast including Judge Verity Gavelle and rookie prosecutor Eustace Winner.
What's more, Prosecutor's Gambit also showcased off the man Gregory Edgeworth was before his untimely death in the DL-6 incident.
Ever since the first game, we knew Miles had initially wanted to be a defence attorney, like his father before him. It was not until Gregory was killed in an elevator that he chose to become a prosecutor.
But who was Gregory Edgeworth?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Prosecutor's Gambit was able to showcase this and more as it delved into the final case Gregory was involved in before his untimely death. In so doing, it helped paint in the rough edges of who this pivotal figure was, the beliefs he carried, and how his legacy was continued by his son.
Gregory's relationship with Miles stood in stark contrast with that of Eustace and Excelsius. While a young Miles was never seen in the third case of the game, Gregory's thoughts were never far on his son (although, one did have to wonder who was looking after Miles while Gregory was investigating. Do NONE of these characters have loving mothers? I mean, who even knows what Phoenix's parents are like). Eustace, on the other hand, is considered an utter and complete failure by Excelsius, a controlling and abusive individual who has risen to the position of Chairman of the Committee for Prosecutorial Excellence.
It is shown in the game that Excelsius will do anything: manipulate evidence, 'disappear' inconvenient witnesses and people, and take advantage of the law simply to get ahead. His is the quintessential lawful evil.
When he is taken down in the fourth case of the game, before Eustace lands the finishing blow to him in the last case, it is oh so satisfying! Especially because it shows Eustace's own growth and ability to finally step out of his father's shadow and be his own person. More importantly, taking out Excelsius is like extracting the cancerous corruption sitting in the heart of the legal system.
However, despite the menacing nature of Excelsius, he is not the mastermind of the game. No. Rather that is Simeon Saint: victim and criminal in equal measure.
And this is why I like Prosecutor's Gambit so much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The law is a necessary aspect of keeping society intact, and the people who comprise it, safe. But the law isn't perfect. People often fall through the gaps. High numbers of indigenous in custody, racial profiling of suspects, etc. Despite our best efforts, injustice remains in our world.
Worse, many people who were wronged, who were abused in the past, end up becoming abusers themselves. Thus, perpetuating an endless cycle of hurt and pain and trauma.
There are innumerous real world comparisons that could take the place of Simeon Saint. Heck, even Miles himself started off as an antagonist wholly focused on obtaining a 'guilty' verdict for any and all suspects regardless if they had committed the crime or not.
It is here where Prosecutor's Gambit shines as it casts a light on how legal systems can fail.
But, most importantly, it also sheds light on those very same servants of the law facing down the contradictions within the law itself and fixing them where possible. Humans err. As laws are written by humans, the next logical conclusion is that the law, too, can err.
By recognising where missteps have been taken, it is up to us, humans, to change the law and have it evolve with us. You see this all the time. Or, at least, you do in Western countries. New legislation is pushed through parliament quite regularly to reflect the changing landscape. Amendments and addendums are also added to clarify parts of legislation that may also be confusing.
Overall, while Ace Attorney Investigations Collection keeps the core gameplay loop very much the same, the few gimmicks that have been added (including Mind Chess and Little Thief simulations) help to bring a unique spin to the formula. As with most visual novels, however, it is the narrative and characters that shine in these games. And shine they did. From old staples like Larry to even new ones like Eustace and Verity.
In fact, I kinda want a new game starring Kay Faraday, if only for the developers to stretch their wings in an entirely new direction. Here's hoping there will be a few more games in the franchise!
And if not Kay, why not Athena? Or maybe a spinoff with Franziska?
As a side note, it felt so weird to have Shaun call Verity his mother given there's only a thirteen year age-gap. I mean, did she adopt him when she was fourteen? WHY DID THEY MAKE VERITY ONLY 26?!

why is it that every time i play an ace attorney game i'm like yeah i'm going to get attached to a NORMAL character with NORMAL behavior and then in the case of tgaa i end up becoming attached to a guy who looks like hes 20 minutes away from passing out.
LIKE I LOVE INSPECTOR HOSONAGA BUT I SWEAR EVERY TIME I PLAY A CASE WITH HIM IN IT HE SOUNDS LIKE HE'S ABOUT TO DIE. COME HERE BABYGIRL LET'S GET YOU A DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT OKAY?
OK BUT SMALL CHARACTERS ARE WHERE IT'S AT!!!! i should know, before ace attorney i came from a fandom where i was quite literally the biggest fan of an extremely small character (i am still his number one fan btw. always)

We know that Ohkubo said he wasn't interested to develop the main chars to be more than platonic (but he clearly still played around with the idea afterwards, by adding more and more subtexts) he never said he was against that idea either, just he had no plans to canonize anyone and hence he left everything ambiguous.
The thing is this, the Ace Attorney anime adaptation seemed to crank up the ship tease between Phoenix and Maya (adding scenes where Maya blushes and stuff) eventhough in-game their relationship is platonic and almost brother and sister-like. There's also a case with the Hyouka anime adaptation making Houtaro and Eru's relationship to be outright canon when their relationship is more normal and ambiguous in the light novels. So given the heavy romantic subtext soma had beginning from the Grigori arc onwards (+knowing the fandom loves this ship to bits it practically carried the fandom for years) I think there's a chance that a reboot might make their relationship even less ambiguous, and my guess as to how they'd do it is by expanding on Maka's sudden weird behavior in Chapter 63 (which will better pave way to her breakdown in the envy and sloth chapter) as for making things less ambiguous on Soul's side, they might expand something with the 'it's not like that with Maka' line or giving more lampshade on why his girl form has a flat chest (possibly also resolving all the times he was being a jerk to Maka about it too in the process)
With just these slight changes, their relationship change from faux-love-interests to downright implied love interests (because we are supposed to imagine them hooking up in the future and not within the story itself)

Hello hello, I've been tagged by @indigowallbreaker for a fun WIP meme :] Figured I'd do it while the tag was still fresh before I'd forget LMAO
RULES: Make a new post with the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them, and then post a little snippet or tell them something about it! Then tag as many people as you have WIPs.
This is about to be so funny and obscure because some of these titles are incomprehensible without context LMAOOO I have a few different wips (some are. half abandoned,,, i love them all very much and im so determined to come back to them or rework them someday), but let's start with Ace Attorney:
MMmmmmnesia
Shenanigans of Lady S
GHOST AU GHOST AU
Prosecutor Sibs AU uwu
Ahahah That Other AA Idea I Had
I told myself I wouldn't but here it is LETS GO BOYS
For Professor Layton, the fandom that surprisingly got a large number of Active wips from me:
Besties the House Arrest AU
PL Soulmates bc there isn't ENOUGH
PAPERCLIP LOVERS UNITE
Ranlay Attempt?? Eh???
PL Christmas fic because we ARE Desmond simps yes I'll write this fuck you
A very brief shout out to my outline of a Ghost Trick fic (which I've spoiled part of the title for because of literal spoiler reasons. im not spoiling anyone on this game are you kidding me?? oooo you want to play ghost trick so bad oooo!!!):
World's Most Haunted *** Moments
I'm not really counting them, but shout out to my active Lazytown fic that I SWEAR IM WORKING ON I SWEAR IT I AM IT WILL BE DONE THIS YEAR that goes by the name "Past LT somethin somethin" and my first fanfic's rewrite that is barely considered a wip to me that is named "I'll Leave AGAIN", and lastly a blank document for a BNHA Toshinori Yagi fic that I meant to get around to but never did beyond titling it "BNHA Good Toshi Fic if I Ever Get Around to It" :)
I do not know that many people- or more accurately idk how many people I know who are actively working on something- so I will tag the few people I know for sure who are writing and who may have wips! If I didn't tag you but you'd really like to do this, go ahead, you've officially been tagged 💕
@4ragon @rivalsforlife @xbydefault @nebul-anna (I think you just got tagged for this?? sorry if you did LMAO) @transannabeth (if this isn't the blog name you normally do these kinds of memes on, then sorry! 😭 Took a shot in the dark!) @jfkisonthemoon @ibroughtyoumybullets-ningy

For the fandom ask game: 3, 13, and 15? (Yttd and/or ace attorney)
I'll do yttd first and then ace attorney
3. a character that fandom has helped you appreciate
It's certainly Midori. I didn't really get his appeal initially but several posts along with some YouTubers convinced me that his character is interesting. For me he's the mad sadistic scientist combined with childish desire to play, except he plays with people. Not in normal way but like with toys. I used to think he's not that intimidating or scary but looking back to how he made everyone sign the contract and how he influenced Shin Midori can be terrifying. The fanarts really capture his playful madness or his unhealthy obsession with Shin. Overall I feel like I have a better grasp on his personality though of course I still can be wrong about him
(I also really hated Shin at first but that's due to my peculiar style of experiencing yttd where at first I thought he was Midori and I didn't watch playthroughs fully so I actually had little idea what was going on in this game. It was fun being so wrong. But analysis of many people showed me that not only he wasn't with kidnappers, he had reasons I could get behind. So hatred was very short-lived)
13. your favorite type of fandom event (gift exchange, ship week, secret santa, prompt meme, etc)
I really love the draw it in your style events! Everyone makes their own spin on the original art so the little details here and there from different people are fun to notice. Everyone, absolutely everyone adds something interesting, something that makes their fanart unique, while capturing the initial idea. And I like your fanarts there too of course!
I also adore the whiteboards! They create a special, warm sense of unity where you can contribute too. And you can stay anonymous if you want to. I even drew Kanna and Nao once, though as I drew with touchpad of all things it was kinda difficult
15. the character that always makes you smile
Sometimes it's Kanna because she's so sweet and innocent and kind I just want her to be happy. And I kinda relate to her.
Also, maybe not always but quite often Shin can really brighten my mood. Not only do I relate to him in many ways, he became my inspiration to become better. Like I don't know if I sound melodramatic but one time I was thinking about his infamous zero and why he, the smart guy, had no chance to survive. I thought how he manifested his zero into life by believing in it while not believing in himself. I thought about how if he would have been more confident he could have avoided the mess he created at least partially. If only he loved himself more... Suddenly it occurred to me that it was exactly what *I* needed. To not bring myself down, to not overthink what I did wrong, to not compare myself with others. To respect myself for who I am. I imagined that Shin was saying to me "don't hate yourself" and "love yourself" and it hit me. This guy has been my comfort character ever since
The ace attorney ones:
3. It's probably von Karma and Sholmes. I don't really like irredeemable villains but once again he seems so entertaining. On the second rewatch I really appreciated his unapologetic evilness. The guy caused it all for the most petty reason imaginable. And he's perfect to the point where expects Phoenix to cross-examine the parrot. He also has been carrying a bullet in his shoulder for fifteen years. Really what a character. One certain channel (RPG gamer? I forgor how it's named) certainly helps with iconic "what can I say except you're guilty".
As for Sholmes, he didn't feel like original Sherlock Holmes with his enthusiasm but in the end he is your reliable ally that wants to help you. His that one dance is 20/10 and his relationship with Iris is super sweet. I didn't read a lot of fanfics but in the great ace detective his other side is explored, which helped me realise he makes such obvious mistakes due to raising a child, so he uses same method of teaching with Ryuno.
13. I'm not active in ace attorney fandom now but I loved the music competition on Reddit. People took their time to explain in details why they either disliked a soundtrack or defended it. The battle was intense as hell. Shame I don't remember the results
15. I absolutely love Edgeworth and his smug swag, his character arc fascinated me. At the time I thought that his character was literally perfect with balance of flaws and good qualities. Some may say he's too kind in AA2 but I love how he comforts Sebastian too much to care. Maybe there's some plot holes in Rise from the Ashes but still not terrible enough (or they are explainable even, I don't remember). For me he's the example of good writing and I enjoy his journey to the point where I like the first investigation game too

For the violence ask: 7, 9, 12, 23
(And is 9 about the fact that TakuShu can't give normal ages to women in his games)
7- what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them? Take a shot for every time I say Kazuma lol! He really is a good and interesting character, but some of his stans are so exhausting that I've started to dislike him out of pettiness and spite (tho I am willing to be nice to him for the friends who are, as the kids say these days, down bad) 9- worst part of canon A lot of the women in Ace Attorney do tend to get shafted a lot, Fey Family Georg is a statistical outlier. Like Franziska was robbed of her big trial moment by getting shot, Susato is kind of in the background for the majority of DGS 2, Athena..... well.... what ELSE can I say about how she was tossed aside in SOJ that hasn't already been said... and most heartbreaking of all... Trucy!! Trucy was basically written out in DD and SOJ, if you turned her into a leg lamp, nothing would really change! PHOENIX barely noticed that Trucy was kidnapped in 5-4... it makes me MAD These characters are all well written and interesting, don't get me wrong, and they have differing personalities and quirks (don't get me STARTED on "weirdgirl" and my annoyance at it), but they just don't seem to feel as realized, not like how the Fey family was in the OT, and it makes me SAD 12- the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them Okay okay okay, HEAR ME OUT..... Spark Brushel!! He really is a case of "looks can be deceiving" because he's not really a bad guy, you know? This man really is Spongebob's humansona, and I love him! He's such a quirky character and I absolutely wish we got to see more of him! He seems to be pretty stand up in comparison to a lot of the other characters in AJ..!! Also
Tumblr media
Thottie with a body 23- ship you've unwillingly come around to
NGL, Cykesquill!! It's not something I'll personally seek out, but it's warmed up to me! I think this might come from my recent replay of DD, but they really do share a lot of parallels to NRMT now that I've really looked at it! I'm a sucker for Defense Attorney x Prosecutor lol!!

I need to make an intro my goodness. Had this blog for over a year and everything.
Snow, she/her! I'm very much AuDHD and anxious - I lurk. A lot. (I'm often too anxious to interact but believe me I see things and enjoy them!!) In terms of fandom, I have. Several. And I can get extremely deep before emerging from the hole, though not unchanged. I've been in the Vocaloid/Utaite sphere for about ten years now, and I don't think that's changing! Not when I've started covering those songs with MVs included. (SnowSiren Productions on YT). I also listen to Will Wood, Jhariah, Fake Type, and the kind of music/artists you hear in rhythm games (Camellia, t+pazolite, that kind of energy). As for other media consumption, I have interests in IDV (I got really into the lore and characters and I think so much about these people right now), Project Sekai (I'm a rhythm gamer and I can play my favorite type of game to songs I know by heart), Stardew Valley (I yearn for the fields sometimes), Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, Witch's Heart, and many others! Even if I've only experienced a thing peripherally I might have studied it a little too much or learned through osmosis, so there is definitely more I can't think of. I love music and I love stories. I can and will draw and write about all these hyperspecific thoughts I have, even if I don't show them to the world. I also make music (not just singing, I do music production and am working the courage to get back into writing music and composing). I also have my own OC (well. right now it's one OC and the related characters in the backstory) who I'll likely be too self-conscious to share most of the time but they are real and they plague my thoughts daily! Also I can't be succinct or normal about describing character relationships ever, fair warning. Mostly because I don't know when something is this or that, so I just describe the behaviors and emotions and hope the intent comes across.

thank you for not putting the millionaires conspiracy last for the sound track! i feel like katrielle is over-hated and it makes me sad when people just automatically give the game last place in all rankings. i actually dont even think her game is the worst in the series (i personally give that honour to the ace attorney crossover). i feel like one of the only toxic parts of the pl fandom is the refusal to attempt to discuss any positive parts of that game. (also some of the comments ppl make about kat, especially on the reddit, border on misogynistic. but thats a discussion for another time)
i didnt think it was perfect by any means (e.g. i found many puzzles frustrating and the lack of resolution irritating) but there are some highlights! i actually really like the introduction of kat as a character and dont understand the common argument that flora should have been the mc instead (there can be more than one female character...). i enjoy the concept of solving multiple cases with an overarching link, even if the execution was pretty shoddy. it's a structure that makes sense with kat being a detective. in future games with kat i think it would be more enjoyable to have 1 main case with a proper story line like a normal pl game, but also have smaller cases to do on the side.
but yeah, it's an enjoyable but lacklustre game. and i want to be able to praise parts of it without feeling like a traitor towards the pl series lol
thoughts?
The Katrielle game soundtrack is genuinely one of my guilty pleasures, it's very sweet and charming and I like to listen to it idly :3c. It's sad that because the game isn't as great as the others that people might not give any other aspects of the game a chance.
That being said, I personally prefer PLVSAA over Katrielle's game and while I still put the game's plot/story on low-tier, I think the characters are very charming and I love them tons (I am still VERY curious about Sherl. Where's the lore Level 5. I love talking dogs I was raised on airbuds and would love to know if he's a distant relative ((JOKE)))
I also think the game would've been great if the execution was better, I like what you proposed with it having one main story line while having fun small stuff on the side! Speculation, but Decapolice might be going in a similar direction with how the layout and system looks like, so who knows?? Not necessarily tied with Professor Layton asides from sharing the same company but it comes to mind when I think of main plotlines with smaller missions
also more level 5 games where you can dress up the characters PLEAKKKKKKKK thats my deepest guilty pleasure. i love putting my guys in sparkly dresses thats my character flaw. actually PL always have great minigames whats up with that (the rabbit one comes to mind particularly... I wonder what they'll do for NWOS? There's gotta be a robot somehow)
Kat is an extremely cute concept! I like her a lot. I don't think I want another game about her anytime soon, but it's not out of hatred and more-so I just want that trust that they'll do her good the next time around (if there is one)
