The apartment door pulled open, and a rugged Logan stood before you. His dark hair was slightly tousled, and a shadow of stubble covered his chin, nestled between two sideburns. He was wearing a fitted black t-shirt that clung to his broad shoulders and some well-worn bootcut jeans that had clearly seen better days, frayed at the hems and faded at the knees. His eyes, a piercing shade of navy, seemed to look right through you, carrying both warmth and a hint of mystery.
He glanced down at you, a hint of a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips, revealing a dimple that softened his rugged features. His eyes glinted with a mixture of mischief and warmth, a playful sparkle that seemed to invite you into his world. He gestured for you to step inside with a casual flick of his hand, the movement confident and familiar.
His voice, rough and gravelly like gravel underfoot, held a teasing edge as he drawled, “You gonna stand there all night, bub, or are you gonna come in and keep me company?” The words rolled off his tongue with a lazy charm, the kind that made you feel both welcome and intrigued.
As you stepped inside, you were immediately met by the amalgamation of smoke and worn leather, intertwined with his own natural musk. The air was thick with it, creating an intoxicating and familiar scent that enveloped you like a warm embrace. The aroma of his favorite brand of cigars mingled with the rich, earthy scent of old leather, emanating from the cracked, well-used sofa and the leather jacket draped casually over a chair.
The faint sound of music, now more distinct, filled the room as the vinyl quietly spun on the record player. The charming crackle of static added a nostalgic touch, the slight imperfections of the analog sound giving it a warm, authentic quality. As the melody emerged, you quickly recognized it as Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Your eyes slowly adjusted to the shadows, revealing the rugged charm of the room. The atmosphere was unmistakably Logan's, a blend of nostalgia and understated sophistication. The walls were a collage of eclectic posters, showcasing his love for gritty rock bands and iconic classic films. A large, flat-screen TV dominated one corner, perched on a sturdy, timeworn wooden cabinet that bore the scars of age and use. The cabinet was flanked by a powerful stereo system and a vintage DVD player, each piece meticulously maintained, evidence of Logan's appreciation for quality and craftsmanship. The TV's faint glow was the room's primary source of light, casting flickering shadows that danced along the walls. On a small table nearby, a few records lay scattered, their worn covers hinting at Logan's enduring love for the warm, rich tones of vinyl.
Logan sauntered over to the makeshift bar tucked into the corner of the kitchen, the battered wooden countertop bearing the marks and scars of countless years of use. He reached for a bottle of whiskey from the shelf, its label worn and peeling, and poured himself a generous measure. The amber liquid caught the dim light as it splashed into the glass, reflecting a warm glow. Without a word, he poured a glass for you, the gesture casual but welcoming.
As he did so, you discarded your shoes and coat before settling into the couch, feeling the weight of the day sinking into the cushions along with your body. "I've been thinking about you today," you call out nonchalantly.
Logan's eyes flicked to you over the rim of the glass, a knowing smirk tugging at his lips. He took a swig from his glass, the whiskey burning a trail down his throat, leaving a familiar warmth in its wake. A satisfied sigh escaped him, the sound low and gravelly. With a nod, he ambled over to the couch, his footsteps heavy and deliberate, each step resonating with the weight of experience.
He set both drinks down on the coffee table with a practiced ease, the amber liquid glinting softly in the low light. Next to the glasses, an ashtray held a freshly stubbed cigar, its fragrant smoke lingering in the air, adding to the room’s hazy atmosphere.
He sat down beside you, his arm brushing against yours as he settled in. The silence between you was comfortable, filled with the soft crackle of the music playing in the background and the faint hum of the city outside. Logan's hand found its way to your knee, his fingers gently tracing circles, the touch light and teasing, yet grounded in a comforting familiarity.
"Been thinking about me, huh?" he asked, his voice low and husky, the words a seductive rumble against your ear. His breath was warm, a puff of air that sent a shiver down your spine, mingling with the intoxicating scent of whiskey, leather, and cigar smoke that clung to him. The corners of his eyes crinkled with amusement.
You tilt your head back, closing your eyes slightly as the warmth from his breath lingers on your skin, a comforting sensation that sends a gentle shiver through you. A small smile plays on your lips, the corners lifting in a mixture of contentment and affection. Your hand instinctively reaches to cover his on your knee, fingers brushing lightly against his. “Mmm, I might have,” you admit, your voice soft and breathy, almost a whisper. The words are wrapped in a hint of playful intrigue.
As you pull your hand away from his to take a sip of your drink, your gaze lingers on his, the room's dim light casting deep shadows across his rugged features. You lean in closer, the warmth of your breath brushing against his ear, sending a shiver through the space between you. Your arm falls back to its previous place, lightly grazing his side as you whisper, "You know, it's been a long day. I could use a release." Your hand trails up Logan's arm, your fingers dancing along the defined muscles, feeling the subtle strength beneath his shirt. As you pull away, your touch lingers just a moment longer, leaving him with a smoldering, sultry smile.
Logan let out a low, rumbling chuckle, the sound vibrating through his chest and sending shivers down your spine. "I think I can help you with that, bubs," he said, his voice heavy with innuendo as his hand snaked its way to the nape of your neck and gently tugged you towards him, fervently kissing your lips.
His tongue sought entry, and as it met yours, it danced with a hunger that mirrored the desire in his eyes. The kiss deepened, his hand sliding down from your neck, to your back, pulling you closer, the heat between you both intensifying. Despite his hands being large and rugged, he somehow managed to touch you like fine china that he didn't want to break, even despite the lust and desperation.
He pulled away, his breathing heavy, the desire in his eyes unmistakable. "You know, I've been thinking about how I'm going to bend you over this couch, your pretty ass in the air, just begging for it," he said, his voice thick with lust. A shiver ran down your spine at the sound of his voice and the feeling of his hands on your body. You nodded, biting your lip in response, the anticipation of his touch making your heart race.
"Would you like that, sweetcheeks?" He asked softly, his hot breath fanning against you neck as he gruffly whispered into your ear, still keeping a firm grip on you as his hands burried into the sides of your hips.
A shiver ran down your spine at the sound of his voice and the feeling of his hands on your body. You nodded, biting your lip in response, the anticipation of his touch making your heart race.
Logan's fingers dug gently into your sides, urging you to verbalize your desire. "Say it for me, bubs. Tell me you want that," he uttered, his voice a sultry rumble that sent shivers down your spine. His breath was hot against your skin, a stark contrast to the cool air in the room. He pulled away slightly to look at you, to drink you all in.
You hesitated for a moment, the words catching in your throat as you looked up into his intense gaze. His eyes, deep and piercing, seemed to hold you captive, the world around you fading into insignificance. "Yes," you finally breathed, your voice dripping with desire. "I need you Logan. I want you to fill me up until I can't even think straight - until I'm nothing but a moaning mess begging for you to let me cum."
Logan's eyes darkened with satisfaction as you gave in to your desires, a satisifed and carnal smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. He wasted no time in acting on your words, pushing you back into the cushions of the couch laying you down on your back, his body towering over you as he propped himself on his forearms, the muscles straining as he leaned in. His lips eagerly worked on the skin of your neck, the stubble of his beard scratching your delicate skin in a way that sent shivers of both pleasure and discomfort down your spine. You let out an airy breath, your head falling back against the cushions as his mouth trailed lower, his teeth nipping at your earlobe.
As Logan's lips traced a path down your neck, his words grumbled against your skin. "I'm going to worship every inch of your perfect little body," he growled, his voice thick with lust. The intensity of his touch made you squirm under him, the anticipation of what was to come building within you. You could feel the heat of his body, the solid strength of him, as he loomed over you, his presence commanding and intoxicating.
Instinctively, your body reacted to his touch as you arched your back towards him urging to close the gap between you - needing every inch of your being to physically be connected. His fingers began to work on the buttons of your blouse, his movements slow and deliberate, as if savoring each moment. As the garment fell open, revealing the lacy bra that encased your breasts, he leaned in to nuzzle your cleavage, the scratch of his beard a sensation that mixed both pleasure and discomfort.
Logan continued to lavish attention on you, his large hands cupping your breasts through the lace, his lips tenderly sucking and nipping at the skin of your exposed chest, hot breath causing goosebumps to flare over your skin. "I can't wait to hear you moan for me, bubs," he uttered with the usual gravel in his voice, lust laced in his words. Your eyes fluttered shut, the sensations overwhelming as he continued to worship your body.
As he helped you slip out of the blouse, now unbuttoned and sliding effortlessly from your shoulders, his gaze shifted downward, drinking in the sight of you. His attention lingered on your bare legs that just peaked out of your skirt, his admiration evident in the way his eyes darkened with appreciation. His large hands moved to your thighs, fingers pressing into the soft flesh, a gentle squeeze that sent a thrill coursing through you. The warmth of his touch spread like wildfire, igniting every nerve, as he explored the contours of your skin with an almost reverent focus. His grip was firm yet tender.
"You're so fucking beautiful, bubs," Logan murmured, his voice thick with desire as he leaned in to nip at your inner thigh, his beard grazing against your skin. The mixture of pleasure and discomfort from the stubble had you gasping, your hands gripping the fabric of the couch as you arched into his touch. His capable hands traced higher, his fingers hooking into the waistband of your skirt, the fabric tight against your curves. He pulled it down slowly, his eyes never leaving your body as it was revealed.
As Logan pulled down your skirt with ease, revealing your matching lacy thong, his gaze lingered on the sight of you, his eyes darkening with desire. The lace of the thong hugged your curves, the material sheer enough to offer glimpses of your arousal, the dampness evident against the fabric.
The sight of you, laid out before him, your body flushed and eager, was a sight that turned Logan on immensely. The flush of your cheeks, the way you bit your lip as you squirmed under his touch, the way your breath hitched with each touch, were all sights and sounds that fueled his lust. It was clear that you wanted him just as much.
You began to toy with the hem of Logan's dark t-shirt that hugged his physique, your fingers tracing the fabric as a subtle signal for him to remove it. Logan took the hint quickly, reaching up and sliding it over his head. His muscles flexed in the dim lighting, the shadows accentuating the chiseled contours of his abs and the broad expanse of his chest. The light highlighted the dark body hair that spanned his torso, a rugged trail enticingly leading down to the waistband of his jeans.
Veins stood out on his forearms, their prominence accentuated by the strain as he wrestled with the shirt. His pelvis, with a few veins visible just peeking above the waistband of his jeans, bulged with the effort, adding to the raw, masculine allure of his figure.
You couldn't help but stare, admiration and lust mingling in your gaze. Logan's body was a sight to behold; every muscle was defined and sculpted, each curve and ridge a result of relentless training and perseverance. "Fuck..." is all you could mutter, drinking in his rugged appearance that only fuelled your carnal desire for him.
With a cocky grin, Logan chuckled softly, clearly reveling in his own chiseled, god-like presence. "Do you like what you see, bub? Don't worry darlin', it's all yours." The confidence in his expression was palpable, a mix of pride and self-assuredness that only added to his already commanding aura. His amusement was not just in his smile, but in the way his eyes sparkled with a sense of satisfaction, as if he were fully aware of the effect his imposing physique had on you.
Logan's large hands continued to roam, his fingertips grazing the edge of your thong. He trailed his fingers lower, the pads of his digits pressing against the fabric that covered your clit. His touch was gentle, yet firm, as he began to rub in slow, deliberate circles, feeling the heat emanating from you through the thin material.
"Look at you, bub. You're dripping for me, aren't you? Can't wait for me to fill you up, can you? Aren't you such a good girl for me, hmm? Your pretty pussy all ready for me. That's what you want, isn't it darlin'?"
Logan didn't give you any time to respond as he dove down to you again, he captured your lips in another kiss, his tongue dancing with yours as his fingers continued to tease you. The sensation of his fingers against your clit, combined with the warmth of his kiss, had you moaning into his mouth. Logan loved the sound, his own arousal growing with each moan that escaped you.
His fingers continued to expertly rub against your clit, teasing the sensitive nub as he leaned in. Fervently, he pulled away nuzzled his head into the crook of your neck. With a wicked grin that you couldn't see, he pressed his lips to your neck, sucking gently, leaving behind a trail of wet kisses that sent shivers down your spine. Your lips parted in a silent plea for him to return, your body craving the warmth, the moisture, the intimacy.
"You're so desperate for this cock, aren't you? Beg for it, bub." His head still buried into your neck, you couldn't see the carnal desire that you knew was laced in his expression but you could hear it in his gravelly uttering. "I bet you'd do anything for it, wouldn't you? Tell me how much you need it, and I might just give it to you."
For Logan, there was no greater pleasure than hearing you admit your need for his cock, the raw, visceral desire in your voice. The thought of his thick, member filling you, stretching you wide, your wet, tight walls gripping him with every thrust, sent a jolt of satisfaction through him. He imagined your face flushed and contorted with pleasure, your moans and cries growing more frantic as he pounded into you, your body arching to meet his every thrust, your voice stuttering out his name in a primal cry of ecstasy.
Logan's own arousal was a tangible thing, a throbbing, insistent presence straining against the confines of his jeans. The outline was stark and unmistakable.
Your breath hitched in your throat as Logan's fingers continued to tease your clit, the sensation overwhelming. "Please, Logan, I need your cock. I need you to fill me up, to make me yours. I'll do anything, just please, please fuck me."
The plea for Logan's cock spilled from your lips, the words tumbling out in a desperate, ragged rush. Your voice shook with a raw, unabashed honesty, the vulnerability and need in your tone leaving no doubt as to the depth of your desire for him. You were painfully aware of how pathetic your begging might sound, but in that moment, you were utterly helpless before him. Logan was your undoing, the one who could strip you of all sense of control, reducing you to a quivering, desperate wreck in his presence.
"Is that all you've got, bub? I want to hear you really beg, show me how much you want it. Tell me what you'd do to have this cock inside you." His voice was a low, gravelly rumble, as he continued to torment you with his fingers, the cruel tease driving you mad with lust. He brought his teeth to the tender skin of your neck and gentle nibbled at it.
You could feel the heat rising in your cheeks, a mixture of embarrassment and desire. Logan's demand for more left you squirming beneath his touch, your body aching for release. You closed your eyes, biting your lip as you tried to gather your courage. The thought of submitting to him, of groveling, made your core clench with a heady mix of lust and shame.
"I'll do anything, please, I'll worship your cock. I'll bend over and take it deep and hard, let you use me however you want. Just let me have you, Logan, please, I need you."
The words were a raw, unfiltered expression of your desire, a testament to the depths of your need for him. You knew you sounded degrading, but in that moment, it was the only way to express the urgency and intensity of your desire. You were willing to do whatever it took to have him, to finally feel the blissful fullness of his cock inside you.
Logan withdrew his hand, a smug grin on his face as he leaned back, propping himself up on his elbow. He gazed at your flushed, disheveled form, taking a moment to savor the sight of your desperation and need for him. Your eyes, heavy-lidded and sultry, bore into him with a yearning that was both intoxicating and exhilarating.
"You'll let me use you, huh? Just how I want?" His voice was thick with lust as he considered your offer, the image of your eager, submissive body a temptation he found difficult to resist. "Well, bub, if you're offering yourself up like that, I think it's only fair that I take what you're offering."
He pushed himself up from the sofa, his skin was flushed, heat rising in his cheeks as the intensity of the situation and his own desire became apparent. His sinewy muscles seemed to ripple beneath his skin, the light catching on the slight sheen of sweat that had begun to form. Beads of perspiration dotted his forehead.
As Logan fumbled with the buckle of his belt, the action slow and deliberate, his broad chest heaved with each breath. The dark, piercing eyes that met yours were fierce and intent, seemingly trying to undress you with their heated gaze. The air between you grew thick with tension, charged with the electricity of desire as he practically eye-fucked you, leaving you squirming in your lingerie on the couch.
Once the buckle was undone, Logan took hold of the belt, beginning to carefully unthread it from the loops of his jeans. With each smooth, deliberate motion, the tension in the room grew. He discarded the belt to the floor, the metal hitting the hardwood with a soft clink.
Taking a momentary break from his task, Logan reached for the glass of whiskey that still sat untouched on the coffee table. He downed the amber liquid in one smooth gulp, his throat working as he swallowed. A satisfied hum escaped him as he licked his lips, the sensation of the whiskey warming his insides. With a heavy hand, he placed the glass back on the table, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
Logan's hands moved to the button of his jeans, slowly sliding it through the hole and popping it open. He began to lower his pants, the fabric resisting his movements, bunching around his thighs. As he freed himself from the confines of his jeans, his hand found its way to the bulge in his boxers. His fingers brushed against the hot, rigid length of his cock, rubbing through the fabric in a slow, teasing motion. The sight of him pleasuring himself, even through the barrier of his underwear, was enough to make you squirm on the couch, the need for him growing more insistent with each passing second.
Logan's voice, deep and gravelly, filled the room as he spoke, the teasing lilt in his tone sending shivers down your spine. "Do you want me to show you what you've been thinking about all day, bubs?"
He continued to toy with his cock, the way his fingers moved over the fabric a tantalizing dance that left you aching for more. You could almost feel the heat radiating from him, the thick, veiny length straining against the confines of his boxers, begging for release.
You nodded eagerly, your eyes locked onto his hand as it continued to stroke over his cock. The pulsing, throbbing need between your legs grew more and more unbearable, an insatiable hunger that demanded to be sated. You fought the urge to start pleasuring yourself, knowing full well that Logan enjoyed making you wait, enjoy the anticipation, before finally giving in to your desires.
Logan's smirk deepened, a sly glint in his eyes, his voice a low, husky rumble. "Use your words, darlin'. Let me hear that pretty voice of yours. Put those lips of yours to work."
Logan's teasing continued, his tone alluring as he urged you on. "Come on, you've been such a good girl already. Say 'please'." Instead of simply stroking, he now gripped his erection, the outline of his cock now painfully obvious through the thin fabric of his boxers. The sight of it, combined with Logan's relentless teasing, was enough to push you to the brink of insanity.
Finally, you found your voice, your words shaky and desperate. "Please, Logan, show me what I've been thinking about all day. Please, please, show me your cock."
Logan's lips curved into a satisfied grin, his teeth flashing as he bestowed praise upon you. "Good girl, bubs. I knew you had it in you." He took his time, moving deliberately and teasingly as he slid his boxers down his legs. The fabric caught on his thick, erect member, the sight of it being released, springing free and smacking against his abdomen, was pure torture. Once it was fully free, his cock bobbed, standing proud and upright, the head glistening with precum.
He didn't linger any longer, sliding both his jeans and boxers off of his legs, which had been pooling around his knees. He stood before you, fully and completely naked. His body was a sight to behold. The veins that bulged at his pelvis continued to run down his rigid length.
His large, calloused hands wrapped around his shaft, the grip firm and confident. Logan began to stroke himself, the slow, deliberate motions drawing out the pleasure. As he moved, he made his way back towards the couch, his eyes locked onto yours the entire time. Logan's approach was both eager and gentle, his large hand wrapping around your wrist with a tenderness that belied the raw power and strength he possessed. With surprising ease, he dragged you gently, positioning you so that you leaned over the arm of the couch. Your body followed his lead, naturally conforming to the position he wanted, your ass now raised in the air, presented to him, ready for his taking.
A satisfied hum rumbled in Logan's chest as he took in the view, his hands moving to explore the curves of your ass. His fingers traced the lines of your cheeks, the pads of his digits pressing into the soft flesh, leaving trails of fire in their wake.
Logan's hands continued to roam over your ass, his voice a low growl in your ear as he uttered dirty, filthy words. "You're a good girl, coming over here tonight, begging for my cock. You're just aching for me to take you, aren't you, bub? To fill you up, to claim every inch of you as mine."
Logan's hands squeezed your ass cheeks, his fingers digging into the flesh as he kneaded and massaged you. His touch was firm, possessive, as if he were claiming you through the physical connection. With a slow, deliberate motion, he used his thumbs to slide your underwear to the side, revealing your wetness to him. Two fingers slipped inside, the warmth enveloping them as they slid in with ease. A contented murmur escaped him, the sound rumbling deep in his chest.
The sensation of Logan's fingers inside of you, the way they delved deep, was almost too much. You couldn't help the breathy moans and lustful exhales that escaped your lips, your face pressed into the leather seat of the sofa as he pleasured you from behind. Your body arched, your hips rolling back to meet his touch, encouraging him to go deeper, to claim more of you. The way he talked to you, the filthy words that rolled off his tongue, only served to fuel the fire of your desire, making you squirm and writhe against his touch.
Logan's grip on your hip tightened, using it as leverage to push you down into the cushions. As he withdrew his fingers, they were slick with your arousal, the evidence of your need for him. He used that same hand to grip his cock. He spat onto his hand, the warm saliva mixing with your arousal, creating a makeshift lubricant. Logan rubbed the wetness onto his cock, coating it in the mixture before slowly edging the head of his cock against your entrance, the wet tip teasing you, making you whimper in anticipation.
Logan's voice was a low growl, the words dripping with lust and dominance. "Is this what you wanted darlin'? My fat cock fucking into you, huh? Is this what you've been thinking about all day? Have you missed this bubs?"
The question hung in the air, a challenge, a confirmation of what you'd been fantasizing about. Your body trembled, your breath hitching in your throat as you finally found your voice, your words thick and needy.
"Yes, please, Logan. Yes, I've missed this. I need you. I need this. Fuck - I need your cock so bad."
Logan's response was immediate, his hips bucking forward ever so slightly. The head of his cock dipped into your entrance, the slick tip teasing you, making you moan into the couch. Logan's praise was laced with satisfaction, his voice a deep, gravelly rumble. "That's a good girl. You're so eager for me, aren't you, bub? You're just begging to be filled by me, to have every inch of you claimed by my cock. I knew you'd be a good girl, always wanting me, always craving my dick."
Your promise was fulfilled as he bucked his hips forward once more, this time not stopping at the entrance. His cock filled you completely, the sensation of him stretching you, making you gasp and moan into the cushion. Your body gripped the material of the couch, your fingers digging into the fabric as you tried to hold onto something, anything, as Logan claimed you. Your core clenched around him, the wet, slick walls of your pussy adjusting to the size of his cock.
As if sensing your need, Logan's primal instincts took over, his rhythm quickening as he began to fuck into you deeply and with unrelenting force. The head of his cock brushed against your sensitive spot with each thrust, the sound of skin meeting skin filling the room. Your body arched to meet his, your hips rolling in sync with his, encouraging him to go deeper, to claim more of you. Your moans grew louder, your body quivering with each thrust, the pleasure building within you, threatening to consume you whole.
Logan's grunts filled the room, the sounds of his satisfaction mingling with your own moans. He used both hands to grip your hip, his fingers digging into the flesh as he sought the perfect angle to hit your sweet spot, to make you writhe and squirm beneath him. "You're such a good girl, bub. Look at you, taking my cock so well."
Your body tensed, your core clenching as Logan's cock continued to thrust into you, the subtle pressure overwhelmingly nice. Your breathing hitched, your voice strained as you managed to utter, "Fuck - L- Logan-"
His voice was a husky growl, his words a promise of what was to come. "Mm, that's it bubs, my name sounds so pretty coming from your lips." His hands moved to your back, the firm grip pushing you down into the couch as he continued to take control, to claim you fully.
Logan's thrusts grew more forceful, each one driving deep into your core, his girthy cock stretching and filling you completely. Your body surrendered to the sensation, your hips arching to meet each powerful stroke. The sound of your moans, breathy and pleading, echoed through the room, mingling with the wet slap of flesh against flesh, the rhythmic symphony of your shared passion.
Logan's face contorted with his own pleasure, his eyes half-lidded as he watched you fall further under his spell. His voice rumbled through the room, a deep growl of satisfaction, "You like that, bub? You like how I own you like this?"
The question sent another wave of pleasure coursing through your body, the heady mix of submission and dominance pushing you closer to the edge. The tension within you coiled tighter, the sweet torment of Logan's edge play threatening to tip you over the brink. You nodded, your body trembling, your nails digging into the couch as you fought to hold onto the last threads of coherence.
"That's my girl," Logan praised. His fingers dug into your hips, gripping you tightly as he continued to thrust, the rhythm of his movements a relentless march towards your climax.
Leaning down, his breath hot against your ear as he whispered, "Tell me when you're ready to cum, bub. I wanna hear those pretty little words leave your mouth." His teeth grazed your earlobe, sending shivers down your spine.
Logan's keen senses, honed by his mutation, allowed him to detect the most minute changes in your body, the subtle shift in the pitch of your moans, the heightened surge of oxytocin that coursed through your nervous system. He reveled in these signs, knowing that you were nearing the brink, the culmination of your pleasure. Yet, there was something else he enjoyed even more. He wanted to hear the words spill from your lips, to witness the undoing of your composure, to have you become a blubbering, breathless mess as you confessed your impending climax.
His grip on your hips tightened, and he increased the tempo of his thrusts. The walls of your sex clenched around him, and you could feel the pressure building, the familiar coil of tension that promised release. As your body tensed, the tell-tale signs becoming more pronounced, Logan's eyes gleamed with anticipation. The sight of you, flushed and writhing beneath him, was a sight he could never grow tired of.
Your whispered confession, "I'm… I'm close, Logan. I'm gonna cum…" sent a jolt of pure satisfaction through him. It was like a trigger, igniting the fuse that would lead to the explosion of your pleasure. "That's it, bub," Logan encouraged as he continued to thrust into you, his voice a low rumble that vibrated through the room. "You're doing so good. Let it take you. Just a little more, bubs. You're so close. I can feel it."
His hand slid down your body, slipping between your legs to find your swollen clit. With a gentle yet firm touch, he began to rub in circles, adding another layer of stimulation to your already heightened senses.
The combination of his words, his touch, and the sensations of his cock buried deep within you pushed you over the precipice. Your body arched and squirmed beneath him, a cry of pure, unadulterated pleasure escaping your lips. The sound of your ecstasy was accompanied by the soft crinkling of the leather sofa beneath you. Logan continued to stroke your clit, milking every last drop of pleasure from your orgasm, his thrusts slowing as he rode out your climax with you. "Good girl, bub," he praised, his voice laced with satisfaction.
Logan felt his own release drawing near, the rhythm of his thrusts becoming more urgent, his breath hitching in his chest. His grip on your hips tightened, his fingers digging into your flesh as he fought to maintain control, to prolong the agonizingly sweet edge he found himself teetering on.
As Logan felt the telltale signs of his own impending release, he pulled out of you, his cock glistening with your juices. With a growl, he aimed himself at your back, releasing his hot seed in thick ropes onto your skin.
The warmth of his cum cascaded down your spine, the sensation both arousing and exhilarating. Logan's gaze followed the path of his release, his eyes darkening with satisfaction as he watched the evidence of his pleasure. "I've always loved the way you look when you're spent, bub."
Logan's chest heaved as he caught his breath, the afterglow of their passion washing over you both. "I'll go and get a towel for you, bubs," he stated softly. He gave your ass a gentle pat before heading towards the bathroom, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. "And I'll run you a nice hot bath. You're going to need it after all that."

Today, I have four soundtrack songs, as well as one Tarlos song and one Jace song.
How Did You Love - Shinedown
This song is very important to me, being one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands. Lone Star and OG both have incredible music taste, what can I say? It's a very Owen coded song to me.
"What is the legacy that you're going to leave behind? It's a song that is a lot about reflection and understanding that it's better to give love than to spread hate." - Shinedown
In the video that I linked above the band explains that the meaning of this song is about accepting that one day, your time will be up, and that it's important to focus on what we leave behind when we're gone. That is Owen to me. He is someone who is learning to accept his mortality and put all of his efforts into being a good father, and a good captain. In 1x02, the episode this song is from, he is still coming to terms with his cancer and what that is going to mean for him going forward. He has to learn to accept the things he can't control, and focus on the things that matter most.
"No one gets out alive. Every day is do or die. The one thing you leave behind is how did you love? How did you love?"
Simple Man - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Another god tier song from 1x02. This song reminds me a lot of Owen, Gwyn and TK. It's an anthem for the way they love him. The lyrics “don't forget son, there is someone up above” make me think of how Gwyn is watching over him even after she's gone.
Also, Shinedown did a cover of this song that blows the original out of the water. Just so you know.
Breathe - Fleurie
The lyrics “when will we finally breathe” are on my blog title for a reason. This song reminds me of Push, and One Day (the episode the song is from) which is my second favorite episode in the whole show!
There's a feeling I get when listening to this song that is similar to the way I feel when I watch these episodes, like something is building up until suddenly all of the emotion comes pouring out and there's nothing you can do to stop it.
Amen - Amber Run
Such a good song for 3x08! It's the perfect song for TK and Gwyn and the lyrics definitely speak to his struggles with addiction, as well as the way he's feeling after she dies.
"Oh, is there a heaven? You'd know now you've been"
"Are those real stars that hang in the sky? Or are they man-made, a trick of the light?"
"Cause the devil is raging inside my mind And is there a moment when it all makes sense? When saying goodbye doesn't feel like the end?"
"Sometimes I'd rather be dead, at least then I'm with you, amen"
Now that I've gotten the soundtrack songs out of the way, I'm going to share my other two songs!
If It Keeps You Up At Night - The Swoons
I've seen the world on top of your shoulders You lift me up 'cause you know I'm smaller When this life's a concert I can't see When I'm black and blue you paint me brighter And raise me up just like a lighter Even through the darkest symphony
And if it keeps you up at night I'll stay up and learn the words to all the songs that you like So if your eyes are open wide I can sing you something sweeter than that devil in your mind And if it still keeps you up at night I won't hold it against you I'll just hold, hold you tight
This song is perfect for Tarlos. It's about them loving each other even through the hard times. The lyrics in the chorus specifically are what I think they are feeling when they watch each other struggle with grief, addiction, and everything else. The first scene it reminds me of is the dining table scene in 3x13, but it could apply to many other scenes too.
Are You Still Waiting For Me? - Vian Izak
Traveling this road alone Made my heart heavy like a stone But when I think of you, I feel hope Are you still waiting for me, love?
I fall so many times, oh no But standing up makes me strong I need you in my life, you're the one Are you still waiting for me, love?
This is the song that reminds me of early Jace. When Judd finally sees Grace again when Tommy is in labor and he's uncertain of whether or not she still wants to be with him. He's wondering if she's still waiting for him.

A Few Words About 1978 As a Whole
1978 is a year that I find really underrated when looking back at the late seventies, especially when looking back at disco's heyday. 1977 was when the genre had its big mainstream explosion and took the world by storm. 1979 only seems to become interesting to people when they want to talk about the backlash and Disco Demolition Night. Nobody really seems to want to explore that sweet spot in the middle, which is 1978. It's a fun year and it might as well be called the disco year, mostly because that's pretty much the only music getting really big and the only music record companies wanted to go all in on. If you're asking yourself why there's so much disco on this one, it's because that's what most of this year end list is! We're gonna talk about it a little more in-depth below because, much like the playlist made to explore 1981, this one also follows the idea of organizing songs into specific segments. I think it makes it more interesting than just me throwing forty songs out there and it's fun to pick the best songs and figure out what they all have in common with each other (if anything). Also, it's forty songs this time instead of thirty because a) It was honestly kinda hard to make cuts because I really enjoy a lot of this year and b) I think it would be funnier if I'm never consistent with the number of songs included in these.
So, without further ado, let's talk about some of the segments you'll find here!
Segment #1: The Reign of the Brothers Gibb
You guys ever see the movie Saturday Night Fever? If you haven't, you've definitely heard the music from it. That movie not only skyrocketed the career of the Bee Gees (who were only somewhat successful before becoming disco kings) but the soundtrack to that movie did NUMBERS (it was the best selling album in history before Thriller came along in '82) and suddenly, everybody wanted a piece of that pie. Barry, Maurice, and Robin Gibb were enjoying a chart run and a level of success that was unseen in America since the Beatles landed in '64. They were so successful and so powerful, their baby brother Andy Gibb basically scored a successful solo career simply by being related to them.
Of the one-hundred songs on the year end list, eight of them were a hit that one of the Bee Gees or Andy Gibb were responsible for. I normally don't want to include numerous songs from one artist because I think it making the playlist stale, but if you're gonna explore what's going on in 1978, it's required to know that these dudes were everywhere. They're not called "The Disco Kings" for nothing. Every single one of these songs was written by them and features them as performers in some way (except "If I Can't Have You." That was written by the Gibbs, but none of them are on it). So if you're not a Bee Gees fan at all, 1978 would've been a nightmare for you!
Tracks in This Segment:
Stayin' Alive - Bee Gees
Shadow Dancin' - Andy Gibb
Night Fever - Bee Gees
If I Can't Have You - Yvonne Elliman
How Deep Is Your Love - Bee Gees
Emotion - Samantha Sang
Grease - Frankie Valli
Segment #2: You're the One That I Want (to Duet With)
After that first segment, we're leaving the disco behind (but don't get too comfy, it'll be back with a vengeance) and we're gonna enjoy some nice duets that got big during the year. Like Saturday Night Fever, Grease was a movie soundtrack that did super well (John Travolta had a knack for attaching himself to movie soundtracks that sell really well) so that's represented here. "Summer Nights" was on the list, but I chose "You're the One That I Want" because it's more well known, more beloved, and it just feels like a song that works better as something you could listen to divorced from the movie it's from.
After John Travolta gets done ogling at Olivia Newton-John's skin-tight leather pants, Roberta Flack teams up with Donny Hathaway to deliver one of the most beautiful love songs of the entire decade with "The Closer I Get To You." Flack and Hathaway were always a fantastic duet duo with perfect chemistry, but this is hands-down the best song that partnership ever birthed. There's admittedly a bit of sadness knowing that Donny would sadly take his own life less than a year after this became a hit, but what he left behind with this is another example of how fantastic he was and how he could make Roberta even better than she already was.
On a cheerier note, Johnny Mathis finally scored a #1 hit on Billboard (which hadn't happened since "Chances Are" hit it big in 1957) and his friend Deniece Williams joined him on that ride. They offer a breakup song as a duet, but it's a really cute and mature one and much like Flack and Hathaway, they make a good team.
Tracks in This Segment:
You're the One That I Want - John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John
The Closer I Get to You - Roberta Flack & Donny Hathaway
Too Much, Too Little, Too Late - Johnny Mathis & Deniece Williams
Segment #3: I Can't Believe It's NOT Disco: The Pop and Rock Outliers of 1978
This is one grouping where the common thread became made up entirely of the pop artists and rock bands that were living in their own worlds and making music that was going against a lot of what was happening during the year. Wings and Electric Light Orchestra offer Beatlesque pop (fitting, because Wings is led by former Beatle Paul McCartney and ELO is led by Beatles fanboy Jeff Lynne). We've got some neat and obscure one-hit-wonders with Chris Rea and Toby Beau, who both offer songs that feel like they'd make great additions to a Star-Lord/Guardians of the Galaxy fan's mixtape cassette someday. Robert Palmer is giving us his best white man soul singer cool guy vibes with "Every Kinda People" and the Little River Band (the other Australians that invaded the U.S. after the Bee Gees took up residence) goes walking through the park, dancing in the dark, and "Reminiscing" about the era of the big bands with Glenn Miller references.
But it wouldn't truly be the seventies if the dad rock wasn't represented in some way and luckily for us, some of the dad rock that got big was pretty damn good. Jackson Browne (or, The Thinking Man's Bob Seger) had his best song get big in 1978, Lynyrd Skynyrd scored a hit with "What's Your Name" in the wake of the terrible tragedy of the plane crash that took the lives of three members (off an album that was, unfortunately, called Street Survivors). Foreigner got Hot Blooded and scored big, and Styx took us to the sky with the rock masterpiece "Come Sail Away."
As we've talked about before, disco and the Brothers Gibb had the charts in a chokehold, but that doesn't mean that was all that was getting big. There's some good stuff in this segment. Rock on, dudes.
Tracks in This Segment:
With a Little Luck - Wings
Sweet Talkin' Woman - Electric Light Orchestra
Fool (If You Think It's Over) - Chris Rea
My Angel Baby - Toby Beau
Every Kinda People - Robert Palmer
Reminiscining - Little River Band
Running on Empty - Jackson Browne
What's Your Name - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Hot Blooded - Foreigner
Come Sail Away - Styx
Segment #4: Where in the Hell is Fleetwood Mac???
This segment is a short one, only two songs, but it still reveals something: Fleetwood Mac isn't here. But... it's the late seventies! Where the hell are they on this list!?!
The answer is that for most of the year, they're in a studio in California burning Warner Bros. Records' cash because Lindsey Buckingham keeps coming up with wacky experiments and the interpersonal drama between the band is causing their follow-up to Rumours to take way longer than Warner Bros. would like (and expected).
However, that doesn't mean the members all completely disappeared. These two songs are representatives of where Fleetwood Mac were spending some of their time during the drought between albums. Lindsey and Christine McVie lend their services to former Mac singer/guitarist Bob Welch, who records a new version of an old FM tune from 1972 that didn't get big the first time. Lindsey plays guitar on it and Christine is on backing vocals (you'll hear them, don't worry). Meanwhile, Walter Egan would like some background vocalists for a song he's doing that's gonna be a decent hit and employs the help of Lindsey and Stevie Nicks to make it happen (they're easy to pick out). The only other place where Stevie shows up during 1978 is on Kenny Loggins' hit "Whenever I Call You 'Friend'" (which was cut because I find that song boring and those two are a bad pairing. I think she should do something with that Tom Petty guy instead). These two are pretty good cuts and I think they deserve their place here.
Tracks in This Segment:
Sentimental Lady - Bob Welch
Magnet and Steel - Walter Egan
Segment #5: Melancholy Girls and Country-Pop Crossovers
We gave the dad rock its moment in the sun, but now it's time to turn the lights down... this one's for the ladies.
Every now and again, country musicians burst through the Nashville bubble and cross over into the mainstream chart waters. 1978 saw Dolly Parton's big pop move with the title track from her album Here You Come Again and country singer Crystal Gayle crossed over with "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue." Neither hit betrays the strengths of either of these women and in the case of Dolly, Here You Come Again is basically the seventies version of what Kacey Musgraves pulled off with Golden Hour (a country singer dabbling in the pop music world and finding she's good at it).
When I was making choices for this list, I was surprised to see how much country-pop was present on the list. A song from Grease appears again with "Hopelessly Devoted to You," a song John Farrar wrote exclusively for Olivia Newton-John for the movie and you can tell because it's a hell of a lot more country-tinged than any other song in Grease. Even Linda Ronstadt played with country elements when she scored a hit by turning Roy Orbison's 1963 hit "Blue Bayou," which is such an incredible version of the song, borderline definitive. Linda's so fucking good and this song is one of many examples of what she could do with a song.
The only one of these songs not playing with any country elements is "You Belong to Me," a good hit from one of Carly Simon's best albums as well as the second time she nailed her own version of a Michael McDonald-penned Doobie Brothers song (the other one was "It Keeps You Runnin'" from 1976). You can hear the disco elements creep in with the beat, the strings near the end of the song, and the saxophone solo. It's incorporating disco elements into things but without losing what makes Carly a great singer-songwriter. This is a fun segment.
Tracks in This Segment:
Here You Come Again - Dolly Parton
Hopelessly Devoted to You - Olivia Newton-John
Blue Bayou - Linda Ronstadt
You Belong to Me - Carly Simon
Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue - Crystal Gayle
Segment #6: New York, New York
One thread I found in my picks as well as in general is that most of the really big California bands disappeared for 1978. The Doobie Brothers don't release the Minute by Minute album until December, so '79 is their year. The Eagles are taking a million years to make The Long Run because they can't fucking stand each other and we already covered where Fleetwood Mac is. So, 1978 is a year where the east coast is thriving, particularly in New York. This segment features either native New Yorkers (Steely Dan, Billy Joel, Chuck Mangione, Barry Manilow, the ladies of Odyssey) or by Broadway performers (applies only to Meat Loaf).
George Benson (who is from Pittsburgh, PA, not New York) breathes new life into "On Broadway," Steely Dan score a strange hit about the losers in the world with "Deacon Blues," Piano Man Billy Joel serenades us with "Just the Way You Are," and Meat Loaf delivers a moving ballad that only a theatre kid on Earth could deliver with "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad."
Chuck Mangione and Barry Manilow deserve special mention as the hits they're providing here still ooze their style, but, once again, you can hear disco creeping in like a disease on top of capturing tropical sounds. "Feels So Good" has shades of it throughout. It lays the ground work for what Herb Alpert would see success with a year later in "Rise." The disco elements are more obvious with Barry, who found success with the greatest song of his career. There's a lot of jokes about "Copacabana" and about Barry's status as a cheeseball lounge lizard, but I love it so so much. "Copacabana" is one of the best songs of the decade and I'm not accepting questions at this time. I always love when the song goes full disco for a few seconds when Barry sings the line, "Now it's a disco, but not for Lola." These two songs are really fun.
This segment ends with a really great underrated soul song called "Native New Yorker" by a trio called Odyssey. I was unaware of this song before making this list and I'm glad I found it. It really helps sell the magic and myth of NYC and I really fucking adore this. This rules and it brings the segment to a really good close.
Tracks in This Segment:
On Broadway - George Benson
Deacon Blues - Steely Dan
Just the Way You Are - Billy Joel
Two Out of Three Ain't Bad - Meat Loaf
Feels So Good - Chuck Mangione
Copacabana - Barry Manilow
Native New Yorker - Odyssey
Segment #7: It's Got Soul AND You Can Dance To It
This second-to-last segment doesn't need a lot of explanation. While disco was owning 1978, there were genres adjacent to disco, such as funk, soul, and R&B that were getting big and seeing success. These three songs are representatives of that from three really good groups. My favorite of the three is "Serpentine Fire," one of Earth, Wind & Fire's more underrated hits.
Tracks in This Segment:
The Groove Line - Heatwave
Serpentine Fire - Earth, Wind & Fire
Use Ta Be My Girl - The O'Jays
Segment #8/Finale: An Ode to Black Divas
This playlist began with exploring the Bee Gees and their overwhelming success, but where there are Disco Kings, there must be Disco Queens. Black women are incredibly important to disco holding the fuck up as a genre and this final segment is here as a means to honor a few of the black women that laid down some magic that year. Our three representatives include the wonderfully underrated Evelyn "Champagne" King with "Shame," the incredible Precious Wilson and Eruption doing Ann Peebles justice with their version of "I Can't Stand the Rain," and of course, the queen of disco herself, Donna Summer to close it out and bring us home with one "Last Dance" (if you were afraid she wasn't going to be here, your fears are now gone).
These women each bring something great to the table and they're worth your time. I can't think of a better note to end on.
I've rambled for way too long, so if you've read up to this point, I thank you and I'm appreciative. I hope you enjoy exploring 1978 and I hope you take a look at the full one-hundred song list. There might be more gems out there that I didn't include that you'll fall in love with. <3

Your Weekly Tunes: The Father
Jeff.
YouTube
Spotify
Space Dad’s songs are below!
Green Grass: Tom Waits- “God took the stars and he tossed 'em/ Can't tell the birds from the blossoms/ You'll never be free of me” and “ Don't say goodbye to me/ Describe the sky to me”
So this song is from the perspective of the singer being dead and singing to someone he loves visiting the grave. The feeling of the singer being not exactly dead while being almost foreboding really fits in with the idea of Jeff during TAG. He’s not quite dead, but for most of the show, not quite alive as he exists outside of Earth. (And spoiler!: keep out an eye for this song again with Lucy and a cover that gives it a whole other meaning)
Cats in the Cradle: Johnny Cash- “ And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon/ Little boy blue and the man in the moon/ "When you coming home, dad?"/ "I don't know when"/ But we'll get together then/ You know we'll have a good time then” and “And as I hung up the phone, it/ occurred to me/ He'd grown up just like me/ My boy was just like me”
Harry Chapin did the world a service writing this song, and Johnny Cash a service by covering it. You can’t listen to this song and not believe it was written about Jeff Tracy with Scott. Everything from the little boy blue and man in the moon, to the way the narrator speaks of being absent while the son still adores. (Second spoiler!: perhaps this one may pop up with Scott as well)
Lazarus: Ray Wylie Hubbard- “ At least we ain't Lazarus and had to think twice about dying” and “So here we are now, still preceding grace/ We ain't easy to look at and keep a straight face”
This song’s lyrics aren’t as “Jeff Tracy” as some of the other songs on the playlist, but damn does it’s sound make up for that. The driving, pounding beat of a simple guitar and rough voice of Hubbard make for something that should be Jeff’s theme song.
Simple Man- Jason Manns (ft. Jensen Ackles): “ And be a simple kind of man/ Oh be something you love and understand/ Baby be a simple kind of man/ Oh won't you do this for me son if you can” and “Oh take your time don't live too fast/ Troubles will come and they will pass”
There’s so many versions of this song, it was hard to only pick one for the playlist! The original Lynyrd Skynyrd was a long time contender, but this cover ended up here as rather than a classic rock song, it gives the feeling of Jeff singing words of wisdom to his young boys.
Jupiter- Sleeping At Last: “ Make my messes matter/ Make this chaos count” and “While collecting the stars, I connected the dots/ I don't know who I am, but now I know who I'm not/ I'm just a curious speck that got caught up in orbit”
Another song about young Jeff, just starting out in his International Rescue venture, trying to make some sense of his life. We always see Jeff so composed, but the idea of seeing him worried about what’s to come and not having all the answers is so humanizing.

My first thought in regard to every band that gets played on my radio station
ACDC: Every dad’s favourite band
Adams, Bryan: Every mom’s favourite singer until Michael Buble came along
Aerosmith: haha they thought Vince Neil was a lady
Alice Cooper: he’s a Game Of Thrones fanboy and I have proof
Alice In Chains: my sister doesn’t like them because she decided AC were Alice Cooper’s initials ONLY
Allman Brothers Band: good music for dropping acid to
Allman, Gregg: That’s too many Gs for one name
Animals: House Of The Rising Sun, or who even cares
Argent: Sometimes Hold Your Head Up is really catchy
Asia: Tuesdays
Autograph: one of the members went on to be a pharmacist
Bachman-Turner Overdrive: There are just so many pop culture jokes about Taking Care Of Business that whatever I say won’t be as funny
Bad Company: with their song; Bad Company, off their album; Bad Company
Benatar, Pat: Always getting her confused with Patti Smith
Black Crowes: I like them for Lickin, but it doesn’t seem to exist outside of one shoddy video on youtube and my old CD
Blackfoot: this band name feels kind of racy
Black Sabbath: Dio was not better or worse than Ozzy; just different
Blondie: I like Call Me, but Blondie confuses me stylistically
Blue Oyster Cult: MORE COWBELL
Bon Jovi: Hello, childhood trauma, I missed you
Boston: ONE GUY. ONE GUY DID IT ALL AND NO ONE KNOWS
Bowie, David: Don’t let your children watch The Man Who Fell To Earth, or David Bowie’s will end up being the third penis they see in life
Browne, Jackson: Another musician ruined by Supernatural
Buffalo Springfield: Jack Nicholson was at the riot they sing about
Burdon, Eric: no ideas, brain empty
Bush: ditto
Candlebox: ditto once more. Who are these people?
Cars: This band feels so gay and so straight at the same time, I can only assume they’re the poster children of bisexual panic
Cheap Trick: I played Dream Police on Guitar Hero so fucking much because it was the only song anyone who played with me could keep up with
Chicago: Chicago 30 exists, but they do not have 30 albums. Fucking riddle me that

The Hotel - Halloween Special
Pairing: Izzy Stradlin x Reader
Words: 4,859k
Summary: You and your boyfriend, Izzy decide to make a road trip, however, strange events end up leading you to a strange hotel on October, 31st. (kind of angst)
A/N: Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, so I decided to make an Imagine with the Halloween theme. It is inspired by the song Hotel California by Eagles.
Warnings: Swearing, mentions of death, ghosts and paranormal events. It’s a horror fic, if you don’t like this theme, maybe this isn’t the right fic for you.
Tag list: @roger-taylors-car @ladieswttda @teasid add yourself to my tag list :)
It was the fall of 1990, you and your boyfriend, Izzy were enjoying the last few months you had together before he went on another world tour with his band, Gun n Roses.
The two of you were in the living room of your shared apartment in L.A. You shared a cozy blanket while sitting on the couch, watching some romantic movie on the TV. Izzy didn’t really like this type of movie, but made an effort because he knew how much you liked them.
You snuggled in his chest, pressing yourself even more on him, he chuckled a little and passed his fingers through your hair.
“We should do something.” He stated.
“Like what?”
“How about a road trip? We take the car and drive until Portland, then come back.”
“Portland? You mean, Oregon?”
“Yeah, Oregon. I was looking on the map and it has some beautiful locations there.”
“But how long will it take us?”
“It’s a 14-hour drive, we can make it in a week through the coast and then come back in another week, taking a different road.”
“Hmm, sounds nice! Let’s do it!”
“How about we leave by the end of October? So I can have enough time to finish some stuff at the studio.”
“Sure, babe!”
And so October went by, Izzy finished some final touches at the studio, you rescheduled some appointments of yours, you two organized your bags, bought a map, a flashlight and some other travel essentials and checked the car with a mechanic. Everything was going as planned.
You decided to leave on Monday, 22nd, because the roads would be less packed. So you both woke up, took shower, had a delicious breakfast and started your amazing trip.
You knew that the reason why Izzy wanted to leave town for a while, was because he was stressed. Axl was a perfectionist, while Izzy liked things to sound less rehearsed, for that reason the two of them have been bickering towards each other during all this album recording, and Izzy really needed some time away from all of this.
The trip started just fine, you drove through the coast and you got amazed by how beautiful California’s coast was. All its colors, shapes and beaches getting a special place in your memory.
The first stop was Santa Barbara, you two enjoyed it’s beaches, becoming friends with a group of sourfists that taught Izzy how to surf. By night you went to a nice restaurant in front of the beach, delighting yourselves with cocktails and seafood.
Then you went to San Francisco, where you decided to stay for two days, visiting all its touristic places, like the Golden Gate Bridge, Lombard Street, Pier 39 and the Coit Tower.
Moving on to Sonoma, you could savor some of the best wine you had had in your life and spend the night at a cozy cottage, reading a book and cuddling together in front of the fireplace.
The last stop in California was the Redwood National Park. You got completely stunned by that place, admiring the magnitude of the world, as you looked so small beside those trees.
Soon the greenish color of the sea turned bluer, the sunset became less orange and the mornings turned more grey, the sand turned to earth and the breeze became colder and you arrived in Oregon.
You glimpsed the strength of the sea at the Samuel H. Boardman Scenic Corridor and Cape Sebastian State Scenic Corridor and admired the sunset at the Face Rock State Scenic Area.
And finally, you got stunned with the Devil’s Punchbowl and spent a day relaxing at Neskowin Beach ending the week taking the most beautiful pictures at Cannon Beach, where you bought souvenirs for all your friends.
Then you finally arrived in Portland, spending the weekend there, seeing all the touristic places and visiting museums. On Sunday night, Izzy took you to this fancy restaurant, you wore a beautiful blue dress he had asked you to bring along, while he put on a black shirt with a blazer.
You had just eaten delicious lamb meat with a glass of wonderful wine and were waiting for the dessert when he started talking.
“I’ve been thinking these past days, about the tour and stuff.”
You looked up at him and his eyes caught yours.
“I don’t know how long I’ll be gone, but I’m sure it will be a long time and I didn’t really want to leave without doing something first.”
He touched your hand that was resting on top of the table.
“You’ve been with me for years now. You met me when having a big band and becoming famous were just dreams, you saw me in my best and in my worst and you never let go of me, even when I was being an asshole with you.”
He made a pause.
“I wake up happy every day, just because I know that I’ll see you when I open my eyes, and I can’t imagine my life without you. So I was wondering if…” He stopped and started to search for something in his blazer pockets, he took a small black box out of it and you gasped, covering your mouth as a huge smile appeared on your face. “If you would like to marry me, Y/N?”
Recovering a little from your surprise, you replied with teary eyes. “Yes, Izzy, I would love to!”
He placed a small silver ring with a single diamond on top of it, on your ring finger and kissed the back of your hand, then he leaned a little on the table and pecked your lips.
“I love you!”
“I love you too, Izzy”
When Monday came by, you two fueled the car and started driving back home. stopping at some locations you haven’t been before.
You had the chance to drive a buggy at the Oregon Dunes, take lots of pictures at the Heceta Head Lighthouse and make a forest trail at the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area before camping at Beverly Beach. Which, by the way, was a disaster, you forgot the repellent spray and the mosquitos had a nice dinner over with you and Izzy.
Soon, day 31st arrived. You woke up in your tent with a single sunbeam illuminating the place, you felt Izzy’s arms holding you close to him and you took a moment to admire your engagement ring.
You stretched up a little bit, which woke him up. He yawned and squeezed you harder, before speaking with a husky morning voice.
“Good morning, beautiful!”
“Good morning, Iz!”
You turned around and kissed him quickly on the lips.
“Happy Halloween.”
“Today’s Halloween?” He frowned.
You just hummed in response.
“All right, let’s get up then.” He pecked your lips one more time and let go of you, as he sat up.
You got ready, packed your stuff and exited the tent, starting to walk towards the parking lot.
You looked up to the sky and saw the grey color became prevalent.
“I think it’s gonna rain.” You said.
“Maybe if we have breakfast fast enough, we can get to California before it starts.”
You sat on the passenger seat, scrolling through the radio stations until you found one that pleased your ears.
After a few minutes driving, you stopped at a cafe, taking a table in front of the window and ordering pancakes with coffee.
“Where’s the next stop?” Izzy asked.
You took the map out of your purse and looked cautiously.
“Mount Shasta.”
“Hmm. I think we’ll get there for lunch.” He paused to take a sip of his coffee. “A friend of mine told me about a hotel there, I don’t remember the name, but it has Wale on it.”
“Nice. We should spend the night there!”
“We really should.”
You finished eating and started driving again. Izzy took the wheel while you gave him the directions. It was a little past ten when the rain started pouring, making Izzy drive slower, not trusting his car to stop fast enough if you needed it.
About 2 in the afternoon you got to Mount Shasta. It was still raining and the trail had been closed due to the bad weather.
Not having many more things to do, you both had lunch at a local restaurant and took pictures of yourselves at the mounting foot and other places you found interesting. You smiled as Izzy made a funny face for you to take a picture.
An old man started walking near you, and you asked him if he could take a picture of the two of you, which he happily complied.
You went to Izzy’s side and rested your hand on his chest, while his hand circled your waist. You saw the flash and then Izzy kissed your forehead, the second flash hit your eyes and Izzy thanked the man, getting the camera back.
The day started to grow dark and you decided to head to the hotel, since it was about an hour away from the city.
The rain became stronger and the mist started to cover the road. You passed by the numerous trees that surrounded the road while listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd.
In the distance, you saw a red light appear beside a big house. “There!” you shouted.
You were right, it was the hotel. You were both sure as you saw “Californian Wale” written on top of the house. There was just one problem, the red neon light in front of it said “No vacancy”, which meant you would have to keep on driving, during that weather, until you found somewhere else to stay.
As the sunset and the night arrived, the weather got worse, thunder and lightning turning the night into a spectacle and you barely could see anything until it was really close to you.
You were becoming hopeless, you thought you wouldn't be able to find anywhere to stay for the night.
By 7 in the night, Izzy didn't see a hole on the road, a loud sound broke in the darkness and you knew you had punctured the tire.
For a second Izzy lost control over the car and you ended up out of the road.
"Fuck! Are you alright?"
"Yes." You let go of a breath you didn't realize you had caught.
"Where's the flashlight?"
You searched through the glove compartment until your hands touched the cold material. You handed him the object as he thanked you and exited the car.
After a few minutes, he came back. "Fuck!" He was dripping wet. "We don't have a spare wheel."
"What do you mean we don't have a spare wheel?"
"I mean we don't have a spare wheel, Y/N!" He replied to you as if he was talking to a toddler.
"I thought you had checked the car out with the mechanic!"
"I did it! But we just checked the engine and shit, I didn't even think about the step!"
"Fuck! What do we do now?"
"I don't know." He leaned his head on the wheel while cursing.
Suddenly a car headlight lightened the road.
"Look!"
Izzy lifted his head and you smashed the car's horn, making the driver stop his truck beside your car, turning on the alert lights.
It was a squeak. You breathed out in relief.
"What happened?" He shouted through his window.
"We punctured the tire and don't have a spare wheel!"
"Alright, hold it!" He lined up his truck with your car and exited it.
"Wait inside." Was all Izzy said before exiting the car to help the driver hitch the car on the truck.
After a few minutes he came back and the car started to be pulled back on the road.
"He called us crazy for not having seen the weather forecast on the news. We're underneath a huge storm cloud." He chuckled.
"He said there's a small city not too far from here, he'll let us there."
"Good" You sighed.
After some minutes you saw the city's entrance, he wasn't joking when he said it was small. It had just one main street and all the houses looked old.
He left you and Izzy in front of a mechanic garage and refused to get the money Izzy offered him for having driven you there.
You entered the office of the garage, hand in hand, and a man in his 40s appeared behind the counter. He had a toothpick between his lips and looked like he hadn't taken shower in ages.
"Hm, good night. We have a punctured tire." Izzy spoke up.
"I see, let's take a look."
He moved outside and looked at your tire.
"Well, it's not that bad. I have a tire of this type here, I can fix it in 30 minutes or so."
"Good!"
"Do you have a car jack?"
"Yes, it's in the back."
"Go get it while I get the tire then."
Izzy moved towards the car and the man looked you up and down, making you feel a huge discomfort.
You walked quickly to Izzy's side while the man walked back inside the office.
"I don't like this man." You whispered.
"Me neither, but we need to fix the car, baby." He put a lock of your hair behind your ear and closed the trunk.
The man came back and you leaned against a wall while you watched them working on the car.
"All done! It's 250 bucks." The man said, while he scratched his nose.
"250? Wow, that's way more than I had thought."
"I'm working at night, kid, my time it's not for free."
Izzy stared at him.
"I can take the tire off if you want." He said, leaning down.
"No, it's fine."
You both walked inside the office, while Izzy paid the man.
"Do you take a check?"
"I don't, usually."
"I don't walk around with 250 bucks in my wallet, man."
"Alright, I'll take your check then, but I want the date for tomorrow."
"Alright, man."
"Where are you guys going?"
"We're going to Los Angeles."
"It's a long road until Los Angeles, especially with this weather. If I were you, I would spend the night at a hotel… We have a good one, a little bit after the city. They serve a good soup at nights like this."
Izzy signed up for the check. "Thank you"
He grabbed your hand and you walked back to the car.
"What do you think? Should we check out this hotel?"
"I think it's a good idea. I'm soaked, we're hungry and it's raining cats and dogs outside." He turned on the car. "Plus, we don't know if we'll find somewhere else nearby."
You agreed.
He drove until you saw a huge Victorian house with a sign saying "Hotel Hoffmann".
"I guess we're here."
He parked the car and you both exited, running in the rain until you got to the main door of the house.
You knocked repeatedly until an old woman opened the door for you. She had white hair and dark eyes and was dressed as if she still lived in the 50s.
"Come on in, kids." She gave you a creepy smile.
You gulped, grabbing Izzy's hand before entering the place.
"What a night huh?" She laughed a little. "Bill called saying you two would probably stop by."
"I'm sorry, but, who's Bill?" You asked.
"The man who fixed your car, darling."
"Oh"
"We still have some open rooms for you. Do you prefer it on the first or second floor?"
"Second, please" Izzy cleared his throat, the rain starting to make him feel sick.
"All right, I'll put you in room number 13." She looked through the multiple keys behind her, before putting the one with a locksmith with a big 13 written.
"We'll be serving soup until nine at the main saloon." She put a leather-covered notebook on the desk. "In which name should I make the reservation?"
"Jeffrey Isbell." Izzy spoke before you could answer.
She wrote his name down with a beautiful calligraphy before handing him the pen to sign.
She handed you the keys to your room and said she would take you both there. Izzy interjected saying he would go grab your baggage in the car.
"Do you want help?"
"No, honey, it's okay." He left the room and an uncomfortable silence filled in.
"It's been a long time since we last had a young couple like you."
You forced a smile, not really knowing what to say.
Izzy came back with the bags and she led you to your room. Once inside, Izzy locked the door.
You stopped for a moment to look at the room. It was big, the walls were painted in peach color and the furniture looked old.
"Finally some peace." He hugged you from behind, kissing the top of your head.
You turned around, hugging him back. "You need to take a shower, or you're gonna catch a cold."
"Hmm, and will you join me?" He asked suggestively.
"No, I'll go later, babe"
"Are you sure?"
You nodded your head and he walked towards the bathroom, closing the door behind him.
You took a long breath. Something was wrong. You couldn't quite put into words what, but your heart was clenched ever since you got in that town.
You took a seat at the bench underneath the window, looking at the dimly light garden. No cars were passing by, the only thing you distinguished outside was a dog running down the street.
"The rain is starting to stop."
Izzy's voice made you jump a little, you hadn't realized he had left the bathroom, nor that you had been there for so long.
You looked at him. "Why don't you take a shower and we go down to eat something?" He caressed your face and you instantly felt calmer.
He always had this power over you, no matter what was happening, you always felt safe and calm when Izzy was with you.
"There's something wrong, Iz."
"What do you mean?" He sat in front of you.
"I don't know. I don't like this place, there's something wrong with the energy around here."
"I don't like this place too, but it's only for one night, tomorrow morning we get in the car and drive to the next destination ok?"
"Okay"
You stood up and walked towards the bathroom, closing the door and turning on the shower. Taking off your clothes you looked at yourself in the mirror before getting underneath the hot water, letting it warm your body.
Exiting the bathroom you put on a pair of jeans and a red sweatshirt and walked with Izzy to the main room. There was just a couple with a young daughter there. They stared at you until you sat down.
Another old woman brought you two plates with soup and you started eating. The taste was horrible, but you were so hungry that you ate everything.
Back to your room, you guys were feeling so tired that decided to call it a night, Izzy removed his clothes and you put on his sweater, before climbing on bed with him. You adjusted the blankets and closed your eyes, allowing yourself to fall asleep.
A loud scream woke you up. You sat down on the bed and turned the night table light on, looking at the clock you saw it was 3 in the morning.
"Did you hear that?"
"Yeah." Izzy said getting up and putting his pants on.
The corridor light allowed you to see a shadow passing by the door.
"Turn the light off." Izzy murmured.
You did as he said and you saw the person take another direction.
After a few seconds you turn it on again, and a scream left your lips as you could swear you saw someone behind Izzy.
"Shh, it's okay." He climbed on the bed and cupped your face. "I'm here, nothing is gonna happen to you, ok?"
"Okay." You breathed slowly, trying to calm yourself.
Suddenly the bedroom windows opened and the cool breeze of the night invaded the room.
"Izzy…" you tugged on his arm.
"Let's get out of here." He grabbed your hand and dragged you out of the room.
The corridor was empty and you started to walk quickly towards the entry door. You turned left and were faced with a long corridor full of doors.
That's when you hear what looked like a child asking for help. Izzy started walking towards the sound and you pulled him back by the hand murmuring for him not to do so.
"It's a child Y/N!"
He let go of your hand and moved towards the only room with an open door. You walked closely behind him. You saw a boy sitting on the floor crying as he asked for help again.
Izzy entered the room, but before you could do the same the door closed behind him.
"IZZY!"
"Y/N!" He yelled back, trying to open the door.
"IZZY!!" You started to shove your fists against the door.
You heard a loud sound inside the room and Izzy saying: "Oh my God!" And you became hysterical.
You tried to open the door with all your force, shoving your fists and shoulders on the wood trying to take Izzy out of there.
"Y/N Leave!"
"I'm not leaving without you!!" You started to cry.
"Get on the fucking car and leave!!"
Before you could reply the corridor lights started to flick and you saw someone approaching you. Turning your head to the left you saw a young man getting closer to you, illuminated by the moonlight.
You were about to ask him for help when the lights flicked on again. He was tall and was dressed in 60s clothes, everything looked normal except for his white morbid eyes and his broken neck, his head slightly leaned to the side.
You screamed loudly this time as you started to walk back.
"Y/N!!" Izzy hit the door trying to open it.
You turned around and started running down the stairs, while still hearing Izzy calling for you.
Running towards the main door you were stopped as a woman with a cut neck appeared in front of you.
"Where are you going, sweetie?"
You screamed again and turned left, getting in a corridor you haven't been before.
She started to walk behind you and you saw an open room, getting inside and closing the door behind you. It was a library, with big windows. "Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck."
You heard a loud sound coming from the second floor and one of the windows breaking.
You saw someone falling from it, and when you got closer to the glass you saw a white man with black hair and red leather pants.
"Izzy!!" You yelled punching the glass, seeing his lifeless body laying on the grass.
Tears started to fall from your eyes as you heard the door of the Library opening.
"You are going to be with him soon, darling, don't worry."
It was the old lady.
You ran and passed through the second door of the room, ending up in another corridor.
You ran until you found two big doors separating the corridor. You opened them and were greeted with an indoor pool area. The ceiling was made of glass, just like most of the walls. You looked from one way to another but there were no other doors. You were stuck.
"It's useless to run." She reappeared behind you.
You turned around, facing her. "Please, just let me go!"
She said nothing, but took one step closer, making you take one step back.
"Please, I didn't do anything! Just let me go!"
The couple from the dinner appeared beside her, alongside the boy with the broken neck and the bleeding woman, along with some other people you haven't seen before.
They all looked hurt in some sort of way and their eyes were white as if a cloud was hiding their true ones.
You kept walking backward as they kept walking towards you.
"Please, let me go!! Please!" Your crying was evident in your voice and you were starting to freak out.
"Please, don't hurt me!" You took one last step back and was involved in water. You fell in the pool.
You were so scared that you forgot the pool was there, and most importantly, you forgot you didn't know how to swim.
You tried as hard as you could. Moving your legs and arms to try to get to the surface again, but it was useless. The more you moved, the deeper you got.
You opened your mouth to try to breathe but was greeted with water filling your lungs, making you choke.
You moved your hand to your neck as if the gesture would bring you some oxygen. You looked up and saw all those people circling the pool and then darkness overtook you.
You woke up gasping for air, touching your body to check you were ok. Sweat covered your forehead and most parts of your body and hot tears left your eyes.
You suddenly saw the lights turn on, realizing you were still in the hotel room. "Shh, it's okay."
You pulled away when he touched you.
"It's okay. It's me!" You didn't look at him, so he touched your chin and lightly made you look in his direction. "It's me Y/N!"
You let go of a long breath and hugged him tightly.
"It's ok, it was just a nightmare. You're ok!"
"You were dead and I was dead and the pool…." You dragged on, sharing the first memories you had from your dream.
"Shh" He kissed the top of your head. "We're fine Y/N."
"She was following me…"
"As long as I'm here, no one will hurt you, okay?" He parted from you to look in your eyes.
You nodded slowly.
Looking at the clock on your bedside table you saw it was 2:35 am.
"Let's get out of here, Izzy. Please!"
"But it's in the middle of the night, babe"
"Please, Izzy, please, let's get out of here!"
He saw how frightened you were. "Okay." He paused for a second. "Let's get dressed then."
You both got up and got dressed, throwing all your stuff back in your bags. You paused before exiting the room.
"Promise me that you will ignore anything you might hear!"
"What?"
"Promise me, Izzy!"
"Ok! I promise!"
You grabbed his hand and dragged him down the corridor and down the stairs as fast as you could.
Arriving at the reception you rang the bell on the table tirelessly until the old woman appeared. She was wearing a robe, but didn't look tired at all.
"What's the problem kids? Didn't like your room?"
"We want to check out!" You replied quickly.
"Now? But it's still early!" She paused for a moment, trying to think about what to say. "Wouldn't you prefer to leave by morning?"
"No! We have to go now!"
"We serve a good breakfast here."
"I said we have to go now!" You were growing frustrated.
"Okay, but I'll have to demand the same price as if you had stayed until morning."
"Ok! How much?"
"45 dollars."
You opened your purse, looking for your wallet, getting 50 bucks, and putting them on her desk.
She opened a drawer to get your change, but you rushed in saying she could keep it, before grabbing Izzy by the hand and leading him to the door. Trying to open it, you realized it was still locked.
"The door is locked, mam" Izzy spoke up.
"Oh, wait a minute, I'll get the keys. They might be somewhere here.” She entered a small room behind the reception and you started to stomp the ground anxiously.
"She's taking too long!"
"Calm down, Y/N!" He touched your shoulder, making you feel calmer, but you were still cautious.
"We're in a rush!" You shouted.
"Oh I'm sorry, I was not finding them." She walked calmly towards the door, using all her time to open it.
Once she finally opened, you stormed out of it, dragging Izzy with you.
"Where are the car keys?"
"Jesus! Relax, Y/N! They're here!" He took the keys out of his pant's pocket and opened the trunk of the car first.
You literally threw your bag inside and rushed to the driver's door. "I'm driving!" You extended your hand for him to put the keys on.
"No way! You're too shaken to do so. You're gonna end up killing us."
"Fine, but be fast!" You gave in, rushing to the passenger door, seating fastly once Izzy unlocked the car.
Turning on the engine, he drove the car back to the street, driving out of the city.
"What time is it?"
He looked at his clock. "3 am"
You looked back just in time to see all the hotel lights turning on and strange people appearing at the windows.
A shiver ran down your spine as you sat still on your seat again, thanking that you were out of that place.

Dean Winchester Playlist: Righteous Man
I originally posted this on We Heart It, but I want to transfer it here.
I love making playlists, and I love TV shows and fictional character, so here it is. You can expect several playlists for several characters from me.
I chose the songs I put in those playlists, based on lyrics. When I don't, it's because the song is linked to a particular scene starring the chosen character (ex: Heat of the Moment), is a favourite and/or important to the character in some way (ex: Hey Jude, was a song Mary used to put Dean to sleep with when he was a kid), or because they have a special meaning to the fandom (ex: Shake It Off, that not only, has been on the show, but is also used in the Supernatural Parody by The Hillywood Show), or because I think they're songs that the chosen character might listen to and/or like.
(Of course, I haven't included all the songs that Dean might be listening to, that would be too long, hahaha.)
Knocking on Heaven's Door by Gun N' Roses
"Mama put my guns in the ground
I can't shoot them anymore"
Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd
"Mama told me when I was young
'Come sit beside me, my only son' "
Eye of the Tiger by Survivor
"And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he's watching us all with the eye of the tiger"
Shake It Off by Taylor Swift
"I go on too many dates, but I can't make them stay
At least that's what people say"
Hells Bells by AC/DC
"I won't take no prisoners, won't spare no lives
Nobody's putting up a fight"
Heat Of The Moment by Asia
"A look from you and I would fall from grace
And that would wipe this smile right off my face"
Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple
"When it all was over
We had to find another place"
Back In Black by AC/DC
"Forget the hearse 'cause I never die
I got nine lives"
Have a Drink on Me by AC/DC
"Whiskey, gin, and brandy
With a glass, I'm pretty handy"
Wanted Dead Or Alive by Bon Jovi
"I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride
I'm wanted dead or alive"
Hey Jude by The Beatles
"Hey Jude, refrain
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders"
Fortunate Son by Creedence Clearwater Revival
"Some folks are born silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves, oh"
Warriors by Imagine Dragons
"But you always knew that you'd be the one
That work while they all play"
Send Me An Angel by Scorpions
"Close your eyes and you will find
The way out of the dark"
Judgement Day by Stealth
"I've crossed every line, broken every boundary
And now it's retribution time 'cause the change that I'm into
It ain't that holy!"
I'm Alright by Kenny Loggins
"I'm alright
Nobody worry 'bout me
Why you got to gimme a fight?
Can't you just let it be?"
Midnight Rider by The Allman Brothers Band
"Not gon' let 'em catch the midnight rider
And I don't own the clothes I'm wearing
And the road goes on forever"
All Out Of Love by Air Supply
"I want you to come back and carry me home
Away from this long lonely nights"
Don't You Worry Child cover by Sam Tsui
"There was a time, I used to look into my father's eyes
In a happy home, I was a king I had a golden throne
Those days are gone, now the memories are on the wall"
Old Town Road (Remix) by Lil Nas X ft Billy Ray Cyrus (to be very honest with you, this song makes me think of Jensen more than Dean, but I probably won't do actors playlists, and I really wanted to include it, so here it is.)
"Yeah, I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road
I'm gonna ride 'til I can't no more"
Ramble On by Led Zeppelin
"Got no time for spreadin' roots
The time has come to be gone"
Travelling River Blues by Led Zeppelin
"Well I know my baby, If I see her in the dark
I said I know my rider, If I see her in the dark"
Rebel Rebel by David Bowie
"Hey babe, let's go out tonight
You like me, and I like it all
We like dancing and we look divine"
Runnin' with the devil by Van Halen
"I live my life like there's no tomorrow
And all I've got, I had to steal
Least I don't need to beg or borrow
Yes I'm livin' at a pace that kills"
Need You Tonight by INXS
"I need you tonight
'Cause I'm not sleeping"
Cherry Pie by Warrant
"Tastes so good, makes a grown man cry
Sweet Cherry Pie, yeah"
Leave It All Behind by Sleeping With Sirens
"When you look at my life
Tell me what do you see?
I'm only human
So don't expect too much from me"
Feel free to add to this if you want to.

Just listened to: “Almost Famous 20th Anniversary Super Deluxe Digital Edition”
[Some context very much needed with this one:
This version of the Almost Famous soundtrack was released to commemorate the film’s 20th anniversary (and corresponding release on 4K). It is available only two ways: either physically on vinyl or digitally.
It is a lot. 102 tracks running 5 hours and 8 minutes, to be specific. That covers all the licensed music from the film (track listing down below), dialogue excerpts from the film, the film version of Stillwater’s songs, the original Stillwater EP, demo and acoustic versions of the Stillwater songs and the original score for the film. Like I said, a lot.
If you get it digitally (as I did on Apple Music), you’re likely to run into some hiccups with the licensed music section of the box set. I streamed the set and Apple Music did a lot of what I call “fill-ins” on this one (basically, providing the affected song from another source which is available on Apple Music). That covered most of the holes but there were still a few tracks which were problems.
Even with all that, given that the box set is a $50 purchase, it is completely understandable if you elect to try your luck with streaming it. Here, by the way, is the track listing for the licensed music section portion of the box set:
The Chipmunks and David Seville – “The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don’t Be Late)”
Brenton Wood – “The Ooogum Boogum Song”
Simon & Garfunkel – “America”

The Beach Boys – “Feel Flows”
Joni Mitchell – “River”
Stillwater – “Fever Dog”
Rod Stewart – “Every Picture Tells a Story”
The Hyatt Singers – “Small Time Blues (Acoustic)”
Stillwater – “Something in the Air”
Little Feat – “Easy to Slip”
Raspberries – “Go All the Way”
The Seeds – “Mr. Farmer”
The Allman Brothers Band – “One Way Out (Live at the Fillmore East, 1971)”
The Guess Who – “Albert Flasher (Live)”
Lynyrd Skynyrd – “Simple Man”
Stillwater – “Love Thing”
Led Zeppelin – “That’s The Way”
Neil Young and Crazy Horse – “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere”
Fleetwood Mac – “Future Games”

Pairing: Captain “Sy” Syverson x OFC (Shane Benton)
Summary: Shane and Sy share some moments during their treatment sessions…and a phone call that could set the tone for the next few weeks.
Word Count: 2.6k
Warnings: None, yet… ;)
Author’s Note: Sorry, I was so eager and excited to post the first chapter of this last night, I totally put some inaccurate info in my description notes. I will correct that in the original post and try to do better henceforth! Hope you enjoy Sy and Shane totally flirting some more and getting more friendly in this chapter. Feedback is appreciated! Even constructive criticism! :D
Disclaimer: Unfortunately for me, Henry is not mine, le sigh, and all mention of him, his characters, any characters from his films, or his precious doggy, Kal, are strictly for transformative and recreational use. I neither ask for, nor accept payment for the work I post on Tumblr or AO3. Unbeta’d because this is for fun and escapism.

Let me know if you wish to be added to the list! I’m happy to do it!
Shane woke up that morning with knots in her stomach. She dropped every product she picked up in the shower, she was shaking so much. She accidentally ordered the wrong coffee on her way to work and was now drinking something much less caffeinated and far too sweet for her taste. The barista had informed her it was a grande caramel macchiato with an extra pump of vanilla and extra caramel drizzle…with only two shots of espresso…she couldn't begin to describe how wrong that drink was for her. But it was better than nothing, she told herself, not fully convincingly.
She had chosen her clothes with extra care, even though, with the dress code, her options were limited. And she had made sure to put on a bit of mascara and just a touch of perfume, even though they weren't strictly supposed to wear it…she didn't know why she was bothering.
Well, actually, she did know why. She had been checking her schedule extra diligently lately to make sure she didn't look like a hobo when Sy was coming in. He'd been coming for three weeks now, and after the initial bellyaching about Jordan not being as pretty as her…her heart!...and his feeling extra sore after his visits with him, they were on a roll and had a great chemistry together as far as their treatments went…she tried not to think about…beyond the world of therapy.
She thought back to their first session after she got back from her trip. And the conversation they had.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I think the next time you can't see me, I'm just going to cancel." he had sulked as he wiggled his mass of muscle onto the mat.
"Sy, no. you need therapy. Don't be like that to Jordan. He's an excellent therapist."
"He ain't you though." he smirked, sending her heart racing with that smile that somehow managed to look both boyish and rakish under his full, dark beard. Fucking hell. He needed to stop.
"Well, we can't fault him for that, can we? Lay back, Mister." She demanded. Done with the niceties of the evaluation and onto the treatments where she was in charge. The boss.
"Yes, sir!" she laughed at his clear avoidance of calling her ma'am.
"So where'd you go last week? Vacation or stay-cation?" he asked, the term "stay-cation" sounding downright comical coming out of his country-boy mouth.
"I went to the beach. Gulf Shores."
"I thought you looked like you got some sun."
"Yeah," she pretended his noticing the detail of her awesome tan did not send her reeling. "My folks rented a condo right on the water for my siblings and I to come and stay with them. They're still there. It was tough to leave all that beauty." the beach, pretty much any beach, was her favorite place to be.
"I bet…" he looked at her, something dreamy in his eyes, but he looked away before she could process it. "I thought I had my fill of sand and sun when I was over in Iraq. But you make it sound…like paradise." he smiled softly up at her as she worked on his knee, trying to break apart some of the scar tissue from the injuries and surgeries he'd had…and focus on that, and not the warmth rising in her.
"That's the perfect way to describe any place on the Gulf of Mexico. I doubt it's anything like Iraq, since there's so much water around. It's my favorite vacation destination. Well, apart from London."
"Them British folks always seem so stuck up. Don't know if I'd get along with any of 'em."
"It felt like a second home for me. Everyone was very kind and polite, for the most part. At least it was no worse than it is here."
"Maybe it's just because you're so nice."
"Wait 'til about week eight or ten of your protocol. You won't think I'm nice then. You'll be cussing me out and ready to ring my neck."
"Promise?" he asked, a dark grin on his lips and in his eyes…she faltered for a moment, gulping.
"Cut it out, Syverson." she rolled her eyes, covering…without great effect the way he made her feel.
"Yes...ma'am." he smirked with satisfaction.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And now, today, she'd be treating him again, fairly early in the day, and she had to prepare herself. She'd checked the policy, and although there wasn't anything strictly against dating a patient, it was clearly a conflict of interest, and would be frowned upon by her frigid tyrant of a boss. Best to let things remain platonic for now.
Her 9:30 was a no show, so she finished up some notes and was working on some continuing education credits when messenger popped up around 10:00.
Sergeant Sexypants is here. He's quite early and he knows it…*smirk emoji* he must like you, Shane!
Heather, come on, be respectful…he was discharged at the rank of Captain! *rofl emoji* and I think you might be right about him liking me…*nervous emoji*
Oooooooooh!!! You guys are gonna *couple kissing emoji* *eggplant emoji* *okay emoji* *explosion emoji* *baby emoji*
Omg…*three facepalm emojis* I am going to go ahead and start him early since my 9:30 was a NCNS.
Don't finish him too early. Make it last. *smirk emoji*
Jeez. She closed the chat and went to grab him from the waiting area.
"Hey Sy, you ready?"
"You bet, sunshine!" he flashed her a crooked smile. He was calling her sunshine now…ad that to the list of things she'd have to pretend didn't make her swoon.
"Great. Let's start on the bike. How's the knee feeling today?"
"Oh, it's…about the same. Stiff. Lil' sore."
"Well, it's a slow process, like I told you at your eval. You've got a lot going on in there."
"I know…just…it hasn't taken me four weeks to do anything in my life." he sulked. "So…thinking about this taking…twelve or more…" he grimaced as he sat down on the bike, and adjusted it for his longer than average legs, putting his feet in the pedal stirrups.
"You may not see it, Sy, because you're so close to it, but trust me, you're making progress. I can tell you're doing your exercises at home, and you're always willing to put in the work here. You have no idea how much that sets you apart from…some of these other people." she leaned in closer and spoke the last part more quietly to him. It was true. So many of her patients were either lazy or just in it to appease their MDs into writing them scripts for pain meds. That wasn't Sy.
"You really think so?" he gave her the side eye with his baby blues, crushing her with the color like the waves of the ocean she'd just returned from.
"In fact, I know so." she placed a reassuring hand on his broad and thick shoulder. She felt the tension between them hum, like electric current.
"Now, level one, and a steady pace. You're not trying to win any medals here. I'll take those crutches."
"When ya think I can 86 'em damn things?" he griped as he handed over the assistive devices.
"Well, you see Potter again tomorrow? I'll write an update today and send it to him. If he likes what he reads, or more likely pretends to read, regarding your progress, he may discharge them. Do you feel like you can be good to the knee and treat it nice without using crutches? I don't want you to regress and re-injure yourself. That's not gonna get you into your running shoes any sooner."
"I'll be nice. Real gentle." he winked at her…he wasn't just talking about the knee. And she knew it. But again, she pretended she didn't, ignoring once more those butterflies threatening to choke her they were multiplying so fast in her belly.
"Okay, I'll put that in my note. Patient compliant with instructions to be nice." she laughed.
They talked as they biked, Shane sat on the one next to him and pedaled along with him for something to do other than be idle. She thought it made him feel better as well. Like he wasn't doing it alone. They covered the subject of her siblings, an older brother in IT and a younger sister who was an MA, and his German Shepherd, Aika, which he was allowed to bring home from Iraq after they were both honorably discharged. Music, both of them completely in agreeance about the superiority of classic rock.
"I noticed you've worn a Lynyrd Skynyrd shirt a few times and meant to say something before now."
"Yeah, they're one of my favorites. But there are a few newer groups that I like a lot, too. Kings of Leon got me through some tough times, honestly."
"Oh, they're great! I love their sound. And their lyrics…poetry."
"No shit. Sorry." she shook her head and raised up her hands to indicate that he didn't need to apologize to her for swearing. She'd been known to make sailors blush when she was off the clock. "Only by the Night…that whole album is…it's just in my blood, ya know? Ya ever have an album do that?"
"I have. Whole artists catalogs, actually."
"Which artist?" he prodded.
"The Beatles. Pretty much every song. Like you said, it just, like, I dunno, it's almost deeper than the veins. It's in the marrow. My soul." she stared off out the windows ahead of them, thinking about her favorite band in the world and how magical it was to experience Sir Paul McCartney playing some of her favorites live…twice…and the timer on the bike went off, pulling her from her daydream.
She looked over at him, startled by both the noise, and the dreamy look in his eyes that was becoming all too familiar.
"Sorry." she stood, grabbing his crutches for him and handing them back to him from where she had leaned them as they rode.
"Hey, don't be sorry for…ahem…for loving what you love. We should all…hold on to the things that make us feel like that." she nodded.
"Thanks…I don't think a lot of people…understand the way I…my tendency to take things like music, movies, and shows…books…so deeply to my heart." they walked to the treatment room from the gym, taking their time, since they had it. A rare occurrence for Shane, always needing to capitalize on every spare minute. To make productivity a priority.
"I think…that…well, seeing a pretty grim side of the world like I have…seems like there's enough darkness and bullshit making everyone miserable. If we find something…or…someone…that brings us some happiness or even just makes that misery bearable…we oughta hang onto 'em real tight. Cherish it like gold." the silence in the small room was loud with that electrical hum of their tension again. He'd said all the right things, as he always seemed to, but under the absolute wrong circumstances. She just nodded.
"They teach you philosophy in Basic?" she giggled. He laughed back in response.
"Oh, no, Basic was way easier than…whatever goes on inside of us."
"Speaking of which," she segued deftly, "lay back, and let my try to get some range out of that knee before I take new measurements for this update I'm gonna write."
"Yes, ma'am!" he chuckled.
"You get some sick thrill out of calling me that, don't you?" she scowled playfully at him.
"Oh, you have no idea…ma'am." he winked at her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day, Shane was wondering how Sy's appointment went as she ate her soup at lunch and caught up on her morning notes. She got a ping on messenger.
You have a gentleman caller…*eggplant emoji* hehe, he's on line three.
Geez…thanks Heather.
No need to ask for a name. She knew Heather meant Sy.
She picked up the phone at her desk in the treatment room.
"Hey Sy! How'd the appointment go?"
"Hey, sunshine…eh…he said I'm doin' good, but he wants me to stay on crutches another two weeks." she could hear grave disappointment in his voice. She felt for him.
"Aww, I'm sorry Sy. I know you wanted off those. And I know they're a pain. Literally and figuratively."
"Why wouldn't he want me off 'em?" he was so frustrated. He must have just left the office.
"Did you ask him that question?"
"You know doctors, Shane. Not like I would have got an answer in plain English. Figured you'd know."
"Well, I haven't seen your post-visit report, but it's my presumption that he wants to play it safe. You know he spent most of his day in the operating room with you, right? An eight hour surgery, you had. He probably doesn't want to undo all that by d/c'ing the crutches too soon."
"I was gonna be careful though, Shane!" he was worked up properly, and she could hear it over the roar of his pickup in the background.
"I know you were, Sy. I'm sure you were going to take all kinds of precautions. But what if you're walking into your kitchen, during a storm, and there's a loud clap of thunder, and Aika gets startled and busts past you? What if you're feeling good one day, and forget about it, and jog to catch up to someone holding the door open for you and miss a stick or something under foot? You can't prepare yourself for every pebble or patch of mud in your path, Sy. Accidents will happen. Some circumstances are beyond our control…we just have to do the best we can. The crutches are going to help you until we get you stronger. That's what we'll focus on until those two weeks are up."
"Why is it you can calm me down like this?" he asked, sincere and truly calmer than he had been.
"I'm just a good therapist, is all."
"Ya don't think that's really all, do ya?" the sound of his deep drawl in her ear from the receiver made her shiver. He was implying something that she just couldn't entertain. It wasn't possible for them right now. Maybe…down the road…in a few weeks…
"I'll see ya tomorrow, Sy. Come ready to work that knee."
"You didn't say no…" he was too hopeful. Damn it, he was cute when he was hopeful. She was glad she couldn't see his face light up like she knew it was doing.
"You may have noted I didn't say yes, either."
"Yet. See ya in the mornin', sunshine."
"Bye, Sy."
She put the receiver in the cradle and her face in her hands.
"Shit."
She had a feeling this particular patient was about to become much more complicated.
Dreaming
Dean Winchester has always been a bit of a thorn in Kelsey’s side - a very attractive thorn, but still… A visit at her uncle Bobby’s reunites her with the boys, and she begins having vivid dreams - about Dean. Is it just her subconscious trying to tell her something? Or is there more to it than that?
So sleepy.
The sun is so warm on her skin, the breeze gently wafting around her.
His arms surrounding her, a safe haven.
She turns her head, her eyes opening slowly, almost fighting to remain closed. His face is a blur at first, coming into focus as her eyes finally obey her thoughts and open. His eyes are still closed, his long lashes against his skin, his lips slightly parted as he breathes softly.
She feels a surge in her pulse as she looks at him, so beautiful, so perfect, so peaceful. She is almost breathless as her eyes scan over the planes of his face, freckles still visible beneath the golden tan; the jaw line, unshaven, the cleft in his chin almost hidden by the soft growth. The small bump in his nose, almost unnoticeable, a flaw making the perfection seem even more unreal.
He begins to move, his eyebrows draw together in a small frown as he struggles, like her, to wake. The moss green eyes open, the full lips curve slightly as he sees her, and she feels everything inside her go molten and electric as he reaches a hand to her face and moves in closer to touch his lips to hers.
The kiss is soft, sensuous, the whole world is in it. There is nothing else in the here and now but that. His mouth slants across hers, their lips parting and their tongues gliding against each other, tangling sweetly, and her whole being is centered in this moment, in the feel of his lips and the taste of him, the soft sound of the whispered moan that escapes as he kisses her.
His hand moves, down her back, across her hip, fingers slipping beneath the soft fabric of her shirt, and there is warmth against her skin as his touch brushes over her ribs and he cups her breast. This time the moan is from her, deep in her throat, as he gently kneads the firm flesh, and she presses closer to him as their kiss becomes more frantic, and her arms tighten around his neck…
“Kel! You comin’, or what?” Kelsey shot upright in her bed, her eyes wide, her mouth open as she stared at Dean, who stood leaning nonchalantly in her doorway. "I tried to wake you up, but I practically had to come in and throw cold water on you.“ His brows drew together in a frown, his green eyes actually a little concerned as she stared blankly back at him. "Are you okay? You aren’t getting sick, are you?”
Kelsey blinked hard a couple of times, shaking her head a little, trying to clear her mind of the incredibly vivid dream she had been rudely awakened from. "No,” she said softly, raising a hand to run through her shoulder length golden brown locks. When she looked back up, Dean’s eyes were roaming appreciatively over her breasts, which were making themselves evident under the thin silk camisole she had worn to bed. She jerked the blanket up, holding it in place and glaring at him.
“Do you, uh, wear that to bed every night, Kel? ‘Cuz I gotta tell you, it’s hot.” His eyebrows raised and lowered a couple of times as a one-sided smirk curved his lips.
“Get. Out.” Kelsey pointed towards the door, and he had the audacity to look surprised.
“Sure you don’t need any help with…anything?”
“OUT!” A low chuckle trailed behind him as he left the room, and she sailed a pillow towards his back.
“Missed!” he called back over his shoulder, and Kelsey huffed out a frustrated breath. How could she be dreaming of that…that…that immature, juvenile, dirty-minded jerk?
She threw back the covers and swung her long, tanned legs over the side of the bed, stretching as she stood and headed to the bathroom. She looked in the mirror, and a pair of dark lashed hazel eyes stared back. A faint spattering of freckles across her nose annoyed her to no end, as always, and her lips pressed together in disapproval. She sighed and opened a small drawer, pulling out a washcloth for her face as she let the water run to get warm.
She was almost dressed, in her faded jeans, well-worn Lynyrd Skynyrd t-shirt and grey Pumas, when Bobby called up the stairs. "Kelsey Grace, are you comin’ or not?“
"I’m on my way down, you old grouch,” she countered, then smiled to herself as she finished tying her shoe and grabbed her denim jacket from the chair on her way out the door.
Dean glanced up as Kelsey’s footsteps echoed down the old staircase. She was slipping her arms into her jacket as she walked, leaning in to kiss Bobby’s cheek, an amused smile on her face, as she walked by him. Bobby couldn’t quite stifle the wry grin on his face as he shook his head. Kelsey was twisting her hair into a knot, sticking a clip into it to hold it in place. Dean itched to pull it out, watch that tawny-colored, on-the-edge-of-auburn mass tumble down around her shoulders again. He felt Bobby’s disapproving glare and reluctantly pulled his eyes from the sight of her bending to look for a bottle of water in the fridge.
He remembered the first time he’d seen her. All arms and legs, and those big amber eyes that, at the time, looked so large in her face. She was about ten, same age as Sammy, and he was fourteen. She was Bobby’s niece, his sister’s daughter, and she had come to visit. Or, more likely, she was farmed out to him for some other reason, which Dean never knew. Bobby’s place wasn’t really the type of place people dropped off little girls just to visit. Now, he and Sam were different. Boys, for one thing. And they were used to being left here and there. Bobby’s, for them, was almost like home. Only thing was, the stay just never lasted long enough.
Kelsey and Sam had become friends right off the bat, she called him Shaggy and he called her Freckles, which she hated, but she didn’t seem to mind too much from him. Dean only tried it once, and was informed that, since he had more of them than she did, he wasn’t allowed. She and Sam had the run of the place, climbing around piles of junk that they should have stayed away from, building forts out of car parts, having a ball together, while Dean, already made to act like an adult by then, helped Bobby work on cars or guns, or do research. God, he had hated research. He still hated research.
They had met up with each other several more times over the years, always at Bobby’s, and she and Sam had remained close friends. She and Dean, however, had a kind of rocky relationship, sniping at or outright fighting with each other most of the time, but still settling into a teasing, sarcastic friendship. Dean smiled a little as he remembered them actually making out once, in Bobby’s shop. John had almost caught them, and he would have… His smile faded slowly, the loss of his father too new to be able to remember without a rush of pain so intense it almost stole his breath.
At least Sammy was okay. That’s all that mattered now. After they got into that huge fight, his little brother had taken off on his own, and a hunt gone wrong had landed him in the hospital for a few days, a two-day drive away near Baltimore. But Sam had refused to let him drive out to pick him up when he was released, so now they were driving in to pick him up at the airport. And he wouldn’t feel better until he laid eyes on him in person, made sure he was really okay.
He grabbed his jacket, putting it on as he headed for the door, his hand shoved into his pocket to retrieve the keys to the Impala. Bobby was right behind him, turning to Kelsey as they stepped outside. "Kelse, you want shotgun?“
"No, back seat’s fine, Bobby,” she answered, glancing at Dean as she felt his eyes on her. She pushed past him, opening the back door and slipping inside, pulling her phone from her pocket and staring intently at the screen. Dean and Bobby crawled in the front, and Baby rumbled to life as Dean backed her up and aimed her towards Sioux Falls Regional Airport.
They waited, mostly silent, for almost half an hour before Dean spotted Sam’s head above most of the others coming towards them down the crowded hallway. "Sammy!“ he called out, and Sam’s eyes searched him out before he raised a hand to answer his big brother’s wave. As he drew closer, the crowd thinned out, and Kelsey heard Dean’s quiet curse. "Son of a bitch,” he muttered, walking towards Sam, his face tight with concern. "Dammit, Sammy! Why didn’t you tell me you had a broken leg? What else is going on that you didn’t tell me?“
"I’m fine, Dean. It’s not a big deal.”
“It’s a big deal to me. You should have told me.”
Sam rolled his eyes, and then his gaze came to rest on Kelsey, who stood a few feet behind Dean. "Kelsey?“
A wide smile brightened her face and put a sparkle in her eyes. "Hey, Shaggy.”
Sam dropped his duffle at Dean’s feet, using his crutches to move to where Kelsey stood. He propped one crutch under his arm and grabbed her into a hug. "I didn’t know you were back.“
"Proverbial bad penny, what can I say?” She backed away a step and looked up into Sam’s hazel eyes. "So - got a little banged up, huh? Girl scout?“
Sam grinned, flashing those dimples that Kelsey also loved to tease him about. "Still a smartass, too.”
It was Dean’s turn to roll his eyes as they headed for the Impala, the two old friends chattering nonstop. He threw Sam’s duffle into the trunk and climbed behind the wheel, while Sam maneuvered his plaster cast into the passenger side, and Bobby got into the back seat with Kelsey.
After lunch, Sam and Kelsey continued their 'gabfest,’ as Dean thought to himself, and he took himself out to the shop, finding whatever he could to keep himself busy. Later in the day, he came in to grab a beer, and heard them laughing in the next room. He walked closer, leaning in the doorway for a bit, listening to their easy give-and-take mixed with frequent laughter. He absently chewed on his lip as he stood there, finally turning to leave, tipping his beer as he went. Kelsey glanced up as he left, then looked up at Sam from her seat on the floor, where she was sitting to sign Sam’s cast. Sam shrugged, and she smiled, putting the cap on the marker she’d been using and standing. "I’ll be right back,“ she said, and followed Dean’s path out to the shop.
She could hear Metallica playing in the background as she walked in. Dean was at the workbench, shop rag in hand, cleaning tools. She stood quietly for a moment, then walked closer, and he turned his head to glance at her before returning to his task.
"Why don’t you come in and have a beer with us, Dean? We’ve just been catching up with each other, I didn’t mean to take over, but we haven’t seen each other for a couple of years.”
“Didn’t want to butt in,” he said, working on removing grease from a wrench.
Kelsey stood there for a moment, then walked up beside him and turned her back to the workbench, leaning back against it and looking up at Dean. "I’m sorry. He’s your brother, and I know you guys have some things to talk about. I didn’t mean to…“
"No problem,” he cut her off, his voice curt.
“Dean.” Kelsey spoke his name softly and looked up at him until he finally met her eyes and responded.
“Look, Sam would rather talk to you any day. Why do you think he ended up all busted up in the first place? He doesn’t want to be around me. He doesn’t want to be here, Kel. He’s never wanted to be here.” He turned and walked away, but Kelsey hurried behind him, grabbing his arm to stop him.
“That’s just crazy, Dean. Sam loves you and Bobby. I don’t know what happened between you two, but you need to talk to him about it. He’s the only family you’ve got.”
“You think I don’t know that?” Dean’s voice was raised a little as the words came out, but he lowered his head immediately, running his fingers roughly through his hair. "Sorry.“
"Dean…it’s okay. Just please, go talk to Sam.” He looked up, and the expression on his face made her want to comfort him somehow. And, for a split second, she held her breath, thinking he was going to kiss her. But the moment passed, and he stepped away from her, grabbing his beer and heading for the house.
“Okay. I’ll go talk to him. But don’t be surprised if we end up in another fight.”
Kelsey followed him into the house, helping herself to a beer, but staying in the kitchen as Dean walked into the next room. "So, Sammy, what got you?“ Dean asked as he dropped to the other side of the couch and propped his feet up on the beat-up old coffee table. "You never did say.”
She heard the sound of Sam opening the beer Dean had taken to him, a moment for a swallow, and, “Vamp. Stupid vamp. I got him, though.”
“So, just your leg?”
“Some banged-up ribs, and had a concussion. I’m doing okay, though.”
She shook her head as they talked around everything but what they should have been talking about, and she began preparing some pasta and garlic bread for supper. By the time the food was ready, the tension had eased between the brothers to the point where they could all eat and talk together.
By ten that night, Kelsey could hardly keep her eyes open, and headed up to bed. She sank into her pillows with a sigh, and was just starting to doze off when she heard Dean’s footsteps pass by on the way to his room.
Dean stirred restlessly in his bed, then his eyes opened and he was on full alert as he sat up, reaching to the bedside table for his Colt. He had heard something, and he sat there, completely still and silent, listening. He heard another sound, and this time he was sure. It was coming from Kelsey’s room.
He pulled on a pair of sweats over his boxers and headed barefoot down the hall. He heard it again, this time a little louder, a low moan. He opened her door, stepping into the room and looking around with eyes accustomed to seeing in the dark. Nothing there that he could see, but she moved under her covers, her head rolling to the side as her breathing became more harsh, and another soft sigh escaped her lips.
He laid his gun on the table, sitting at the edge of the mattress. He reached to touch her shoulder carefully, not wanting to startle her, and whispered her name. "Kelsey.“ His only answer was another moan, and it didn’t sound like she was in pain. He shook her gently, saying her name a little louder this time. "Kel. Wake up, you’re dreaming.”
He drew his hand back as if he’d been burned when she reacted just as she had that morning, sitting up quickly, her eyes wide, her mouth open, completely disoriented. Then her eyes fell on him, and before he could react, her hands were in his hair and her lips on his, frantic and heated. He found himself unable to resist at first, the intensity of it sweeping him along, and he kissed her back, almost losing himself in the moment. Then he put his hands on her shoulders, pushing himself away and holding her in place, as he fought to slow his breathing and stop the almost overwhelming desire to give in and just go with it.
“Kelsey. You’re dreaming.” She looked up at him, her eyes unfocused for a moment, then clearing a little as she took a deep breath. "Are you okay?“ He could feel her begin to tremble beneath his hands, and real concern pushed all other thoughts from his mind.
"Dean? What’s going on?”
“You were dreaming. I came in because I thought I heard something, but it was you. You were really out of it.” His brows drew together in a troubled frown as he looked at her. "Just like this morning. Are you taking sleeping pills?“
Kelsey dropped back to her pillow, her eyes closed for a moment before she looked up at him, shaking her head. "No. I’ve never taken anything like that. Just a couple of beers tonight before I went to bed, just like you.” She seemed to be all right, had calmed down, and Dean relaxed a little. A crooked little smile curved his lips, and Kelsey frowned. "What?“
"You kissed me.”
“I did not!”
“The hell you didn’t! I came in to wake you up, and you kissed me. And you were into it, too.”
She opened her mouth to argue, then closed it and looked away, feeling herself blush. "I - I didn’t mean to. I was delirious or something.“ She couldn’t look at him, at the smirk on his face and the warmth in his eyes, she just couldn’t.
"You were dreaming about me.”
“Was not.”
“Yes, you were. Admit it.” He ran a finger along her arm, and she jerked it back, hiding it under the covers.
“I’m fine now. You can leave.” She turned to her side, her back to him.
He sat there, silent for a moment, and when he spoke, the teasing note was gone from his voice. "Sure you’re okay?“
"I’m fine.”
He stood, looking down at her for a moment, then turned to leave the room. He looked back at her form, nearly hidden in the blankets, and smiled. "Sweet dreams,“ he said as he pulled the door closed, and she pulled the covers over her head.
Top 25 Albums of All Time
Scott Welsch
Criteria:
Every song on the album must be attractive for listening. No “skippers” on the album. No, “Eh, that song kinda sucks” on the album. *Greatest Hits albums ARE NOT acceptable for this list. (This rule devastates me, as it disqualifies Foo Fighters)
2. The album/music/lyrics should still be relevant (and listenable) today.
3. The artist can’t just be for a specific crowd or followers (e.g. Jimmy Buffet, Grateful Dead, Moody Blues, etc.).
4. There is no need for the album to have won any awards or previous recognition.
5. I could have easily made this a “Top 100”, but I have a life.
TOP TWENTY FIVE ALBUMS OF ALL TIME:
#25 Billy Joel — Glass Houses
I played this album at bedtime growing up. I listened to side one, flipped the album, then listened to side two until the needle lulled me to sleep by making the “click click” noise at the end of the record. The album features Billy Joel’s first song to reach #1 status on Billboard (Still Rock and Roll To Me).
#24 Guns n Roses — Appetite For Destruction
My best friend in the 80s said to me, “Have you heard of this new band?” and handed me a cassette tape (in 1987). I listened to the entire cassette from start to finish the first time, and thought to myself, “Oh, man. These guys are gonna be huge.” Sure enough, Guns n Roses became one of the best-known names in modern rock. Their debut album (Appetite) has a buffet of glorious songs to listen to. Repeatedly.
#23 Elton John — Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Elton John released this album as a two-disc set because he ended up writing and recording more songs than required by his recording company for the release. His creativity had kicked in full force (and then some). He recorded it in Jamaica (the country, not the neighborhood in Queens, NY).
#22 Red Hot Chili Peppers — Blood Sugar Sex Magik
The Chili Peppers’ fifth studio album, BSSM pushed them into mainstream. Prior to this album, the closest they had gotten was with a Stevie Wonder cover of Higher Ground on the Mother’s Milk album. No one has ever duplicated the variety of melodic undertones created by the combination of acid-rock, soul-funk, early alt-rock, and blues style on BSSM.
#21 Billy Idol — Billy Idol
Billy Idol’s debut album, released in 1982, was an absolute success after his breakup with the band Generation X. The song Dancing With Myself (track 11 on the 1983 reissue of the album) was actually a song originally recorded BY Generation X (with Billy Idol on lead vocals). It was a retail failure when released with Generation X, but when Billy Idol re-recorded and re-released it as a solo artist, it went mainstream.
#20 The Police — Zenyatta Mondotta
This was the last album The Police recorded by combining their reggae and punk music style before they switched to a more “popular” music style. Songs like Canary In A Coal Mine and Bombs Away had innuendos of political undertones, while Don’t Stand So Close To Me and De Do Do Do De Da Da Da were more lackadaisical and humorous.
#19 Van Halen — Van Halen
This album is an anomaly. Van Halen is a very well known band. They produced twelve albums. Yet, this is their debut album and has their legacy songs. The album has reached Diamond status by selling over ten million copies. It has one of the best-known guitar instrumental songs in history (eruption).
#18 Nirvana — Nevermind
This is my nod to the Foo Fighters, since they are not eligible for the list. Nevermind was the cork that popped and brought alternative rock (as a whole) into the mainstream. It basically created a whole new genre of both musicians and fans.
#17 Lynyrd Skynyrd — (Pronounced Lĕh-’nérd ‘Skin-’nérd)
Well…Free Bird, of course. I don’t need to write any about this album more than that.
#16 Pink Floyd — The Wall
I used to just listen to this album and watch the movie because it was the cool thing to do. Then, once I picked apart the meaning behind both (the music and the screenplay), it was totally eye opening. Pink Floyd was successful at concept before concept was cool.
#15 The Doors — The Doors
The Doors recorded this album in less than a month, yet it will inspire musicians for centuries. Critics often rate it the best album of all time.
#14 Rainmakers — Rainmakers
The Rainmakers self-titled album epitomizes my “100%” criterion. Every well written song tells a story, either historically or humorously. Also, The Rainmakers made rockabilly cool when no one knew what rockabilly was.
#13 Rush — Moving Pictures
With so many amazing Rush albums to choose from, it was difficult to pick just one. However, the rules of my list narrowed it down to Moving Pictures. I have spent countless nights in my life listening to this album from start to finish. Although Side B has no songs that ever received radio play, they are still AMAZING songs.
#12 Linkin Park — Hybrid Theory
This debut album launched Linkin Park into their river of greatness. Linkin Park was initially rejected by 42 recording agents before recording Hybrid Theory and becoming one of the all-time greatest alt rock bands.
#11 Beastie Boys — Licensed To Ill
Licensed To Ill is one of the fastest selling debut albums in history. It gained Diamond status (over 10 million copies). Some claim that Licensed To Ill is the best punk rap album ever released.
#10 Van Halen–5150
5150 was Van Halen’s debut album with Sammy Hagar as lead singer. Each song has crisp, clear instrumentals and incredibly well written music. Although the album received negative reviews from critics, each song creates different feelings and scenarios with the tempos and feelings. I know, I know. Van Halen is already on this list. However, as stated: this album is with Sammy Hagar as lead singer. The previous one was David Lee Roth.
#9 Violent Femmes — Violent Femmes
This was Violent Femmes debut album. It was the party album of the eighties. Every partygoer knew every lyric to every song. The Femmes had one of the most distinctive sounds of the times and remains an enduring classic. The minimalism and simplicity of their music created the attractiveness, and their lyrics are a drug.
#8 New Order — Substance
This is a compilation (2 disc) album. NOT a greatest hits album. It contains a ton of great New Order music. The only reason I made the exception (of “Greatest Hits”) is because it has a “B” sides disc included with many unreleased, 12-inch, and dub versions of the original songs. For New Order fans, this is a gold mine.
#7 The Who — Who’s Next
There are so many great tracks on here. The primary reason this one made the list is Baba O’Riley. This song (often mislabeled as Teenage Wasteland) was originally 30 minutes long. I would have had no problem with the song being that long.
#6 Prince — Purple Rain
Purple Rain had innovation that was unheard of in the early ’80s. For example, When Doves Cry does not have a bass line. The consolidation of R&B with rock was a new concept. Lastly, Prince’s guitar playing on this album was out of this world.
#5 U2 — Joshua Tree
Bono’s “great romance” and fascination with the United States served as the inspirations for The Joshua Tree. I wonder if Bono would have found today’s United States as inspirational? One of the BEST songs on this album- Running To Stand Still.
#4 AC/DC — Back In Black
This is one of the best-selling albums in history. It is AC/DC’s leanest, meanest album of all-time. It will always sound timeless and simple, yet savagely crafted.
#3 Led Zeppelin — IV
This album defined not only Led Zeppelin but the sound and style of 70s hard rock. It encompassed heavy metal, folk, pure rock-and-roll, and blues. This album not only served as a cornerstone but also a turning point for the future of music. Just don’t ask a guitar player to play Stairway (or Freebird).
#2 Nine Inch Nails — Downward Spiral
It’s no surprise that Trent Reznor collaborated with Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins on this album. The instrumentation throughout the album is amazing. Every song leads into the next (it should, as it’s a concept album). Just don’t listen to the lyrics too closely. It could prove very, very depressing!
#1 Pearl Jam — Ten
Ten was the debut album from Pearl Jam in August 1991. Although most consider Pearl Jam a “Grunge” band, the album is more classic rock music. Most of the songs on the album began as simple instrumental band jam sessions that Eddie Vedder then wrote lyrics to go along with. The songs on Ten, despite their deep, dark lyrics, will remain on playlists for generations to come. Ten is powerful, insightful, deep, dark, thought provoking, and brilliant. “Why is the album named ‘Ten’?” you ask, when there are eleven tracks on it? Jeff Ament’s (the band’s bass player) love for NBA point guard Mookie Blaylock provided the inspiration. Blaylock’s involvement in a tragic car accident hit Pearl Jam like an injury to a family member. Blaylock’s jersey number was — you guessed it — Ten.
HONORABLE MENTION:
Steve Miller Band — Book of Dreams
This album has a few legendary songs on it: Jet Airliner, Swingtown, Jungle Love, and True Fine Love. The only reason it did not meet the cut is because it has some “eh” songs on it. However, a host can play this album straight through at a party or a get together, and no one will complain.
The Cars — The Cars
This is an amazing album. Clean, crisp guitar. Ric Ocasek’s vocals and lyrics are powerful. However, two songs (I’m In Touch With Your World and Dontcha Stop) prevent this album from meeting the “100%” criterion.
song lyrics I use to characterize Dick Grayson
This is definitely not everything (& I would love to do more) but it’s also Extremely Freaking Long so. Many thanks to @zitkaplushie for chatting w me abt this! I would love to hear your thoughts/additions/etc. If u disagree w any of these, feel free to debate w me but please be civil!!
— OVERALL:
Drag Me Down by One Direction: okay there are tons of parts that fit but this line is the best: “I've got fire for a heart / I'm not scared of the dark / You've never seen it look so easy”
I think this one is kind of straightforward lol but. The first line kind of tells me that Dick is passionate, and feels more with his heart than his head. The second line is just kind of a tongue in cheek thing like obviously he’s not. And the third one is both Dick’s confidence and also that it’s just TRUE. He makes things look easy, all kinds of things. It’s just a fact.
High Hopes by Panic! at The Disco: ugh this has such good lines but this one: “Mama said / Burn your biographies / Rewrite your history / Light up your wildest dreams / Museum victories, every day / We wanted everything, wanted everything”
So I think “Mama” thru to “dreams” ties back to him becoming Nightwing, or going through different identities and kind of letting himself go with it to an extent. Like he doesn’t let it hold him back. The rest of it, like...that’s just Dick’s superheroing career. “We” in this case could be him and Bruce, him and the Titans, him and Damian, etc etc
Catch My Breath by Kelly Clarkson: um. the whole song. the whole thing. buuuut one line I’ll analyze will be: “I don't wanna be left behind / Distance was a friend of mine / Catching breath in a web of lies / I've spent most of my life / Riding waves, playing acrobat / Shadowboxing the other half / Learning how to react”
“I don't wanna be left behind” - he knows this feeling well already and doesn’t want to relive it
“Distance was a friend of mine / Catching breath in a web of lies” - he has like no civilian friends in canon, and even then he’s always lying to somebody about something. There aren’t many people he can be truly close to and open with, other than like Donna and Roy and Kory
“I've spent most of my life / Riding waves, playing acrobat / Shadowboxing the other half / Learning how to react” - idk, when I see this it makes me think that he’s just lived this life that isn’t exactly normal and he recognizes that
Birds by Imagine Dragons: this one makes me so sad but: “I know that / Ooh, birds fly in different directions / Ooh, I hope to see you again / Ooh, birds fly in different directions / Ooh, so fly high, so fly high”
So obviously Dick has lost a lot of people important to him over the years, either because they died or DC said XYZ and Dick’s relationship no longer has any rights, but. This is how he would feel about that. Grudging acceptance, hope to see them again, wishing them well.
Dance Monkey by Tones And I: I had to. “I said, oh my god, I see you walking by / Take my hands, my dear, and look me in my eyes / Just like a monkey I've been dancing my whole life / But you just beg to see me dance just one more time”
I’ll mention this later on, but I think that Dick projects an image a lot of the time that isn’t what he’s really feeling. This ties into that - I think at certain points in his life, he just gets exhausted and wants to take a break, but he can’t. He feels like everyone is counting on him, either to do this or that, or keep up this appearance. Sometimes they really are, and sometimes it’s pressure he’s putting onto himself!
Icarus by Bastille: tbh this is a song that I think applies to most if not all of the batfam, but for Dick, this is part of it that I like: “You put up your defenses when you leave / You leave because you're certain / Of who you want to be”
I prefer the version of canon where Dick willingly decides to stop being Robin, but even in the way that he gets kicked out, this tells me that he’s steeling himself for whatever may come, and that he’s sure of his actions.
Stars by Grace Potter: now THIS one is freaking sad. “All those times we looked up at the sky / Looking out so far, it felt like we could fly / And now I'm all alone in the dark of night / And the moon is shining, but I can't see the light.”
Again, he’s lost a lot of ppl!! I usually think of this song as him referring to his parents or Bruce after he “dies”, but it could apply to anyone really. And these lines in specific just make me think that he feels lonely without whoever it is, that he’s not in a good place.
Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd: "Boy, don't you worry, you'll find yourself / Follow your heart and nothing else / And you can do this, oh baby, if you try / All that I want for you, my son, is to be satisfied"
Okay so maybe I hc that the Graysons were very much so free spirits who rubbed off a lot on Dick. But with that aside, to me this is Dick being determined to live a happy life, and knowing it’s going to be a struggle at times. “You’ll find yourself” and “if you try” are things that I think Dick keeps close to mind. Like, maybe he doesn’t know everything right now, but he will. He’ll figure it out. And he can get through anything if he just pushes through it.
Weight In Gold by Gallant: “I’m pulling my weight in gold / Call me anxious, call me broke / But I can’t lift this on my own”
I’ve already mentioned this but Dick has a lot of pressure on his shoulders, like all the time. And he’s also someone who reaches out to others, which is what these lyrics are saying. He’s aware when he can’t handle the pressure anymore and can admit it to himself. (I don’t think this fits him ALL the time, I mean it just doesn’t, but. Sometimes.)
Tears Of A Clown by Smokey Robinson: I really fuck with the idea that Dick is, still, an entertainer. that + the pressure he’s under = “Now if I appear to be carefree / It's only to camouflage my sadness / In order to shield my pride I've tried / To cover this hurt with a show of gladness”
The word “camouflage” stands out to me because I think sometimes the way he hides parts of who he is is to protect himself??? Dick can also be a prideful person, who might not want others to know that he’s been hurt by something they’ve done.
The Show Must Go On by Queen: relatedly,,, this whole song fits him perfectly. but to do something not related to smiling: “Show must go on. / I'll face it with a grin. / I'm never giving in— / Oh—with the show. / I'll top the bill, / I'll overkill. / I have to find the will to carry on with the show.”
This ties back to him hiding his real feelings, of course, but also it speaks to how he doesn’t do things by half. This makes me think about being Batman, about how he won’t give in to the pressure, will push through and keep going and uphold his dad’s legacy as best as he can
Pumpin Blood by NONONO: “It's so magical feeling, that no one's got a hold / You're a catalyst to your own happiness you know”
This goes back to my thoughts that Dick has this mindset that if he keeps going, keeps putting in as much effort as he needs to, then he can get what he needs. It’s also kind of those moments where Dick realizes that where he is is good, like being Robin, but it’s not great, and it could be great. When he decides to stop being Robin, it’s like he’s thinking, “I could be happier, and if I want that, I need to do it myself.”
Rocketeer by Far East Movement: this song fits in a lot of spots but. “Here we go, come with me / There's a world out there that we should see / Take my hand, close your eyes / With you right here, I'm a rocketeer”
Overall imo this is a shippy song but this lyric specifically could be Dick and anyone at all -- he’s the kind of guy who reaches out to others, who would enjoy showing people new things. I also think the last bit kind of speaks to how he can feel better and more empowered when he’s not going through things alone
I Want To Break Free by Queen: “But life still goes on / I can't get used to, living without, living without / Living without you by my side / I don't want to live alone, hey / God knows, got to make it on my own / So baby can't you see / I've got to break free”
This goes back to a few things. For one, I feel that when he feels held back or held down, he’s VERY aware of it and doesn’t like it, and wants to have his freedom back. Another one is, considering all the people he’s lost, it’s like...he doesn’t want to live without them but there’s no choice, he has to. And finally, I also think this is to Bruce, like he’s feeling like he could do and be more if he weren’t being restricted by Bruce
Teams & Friends, Ships, Family, & Bruce under the cut!
— TEAMS & FRIENDS:
Young Volcanoes by Fall Out Boy: there’s a reason why I named my fic after this lol. “When Rome's in ruins / We are the lions / Free of the coliseums / In poisoned places / We are anti-venom / We're the beginning of the end”
I think that Dick really does enjoy superheroing, and that he’s proud of himself and those he works with for being courageous, kind, and helpful to the world. In his more positive moments, this is what I feel like he’d think of his teams and their impacts.
Home by Daughtry: I’ve always thought of this one as a batfam song but tbh I think it works better as a Titans one. “Well I'm going home, / Back to the place where I belong, / And where your love has always been enough for me. / I'm not running from. / No, I think you got me all wrong. / I don't regret this life I chose for me. / But these places and these faces are getting old, / So I'm going home.”
The way I interpret this is like...he DOES love Bruce, he does love the batfam, but ultimately when he thinks about home he thinks of his friends. This is kind of him talking to Bruce, at least in the second half. Another reason why I put it here is that there’s another lyric in the song that says, “I'm going to the place where love / And feeling good don't ever cost a thing.” In the batfam, as zitkaplushie said, love isn’t conditional or anything but it IS exhausting. It takes a toll on them. Love with the titans is just easier.
— SHIPS:
Make Me Feel by Janelle Monae: Dick is bi like this song and this line describes his at-times tumultuous relationships: “It's like I'm powerful with a little bit of tender / An emotional, sexual bender / Mess me up, yeah, but no one does it better / There's nothing better”
He takes comfort and strength from his relationships and sometimes that’s good, hence the powerful/tender part! But in all his relationships, not just his romantic ones, it’s (sometimes) easy for people to affect him
I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by Celtic Thunder: this fits all of his ships imo: “When I'm lonely, well I know I'm gonna be / I'm gonna be the man who's lonely without you / And when I'm dreaming, well I know I'm gonna dream / I'm gonna dream about the time when I'm with you”
He’s just a sappy boy who is in love. That said, I don’t think these feelings would overtake him!
— FAMILY:
Losing My Religion by R.E.M.: I read this heartbreaking fic recently that dealt with how Dick hid his feelings from EVERYONE and no one noticed anything was wrong, really, except Cass. so. “Every whisper / Of every waking hour / I'm choosing my confessions / Trying to keep an eye on you / Like a hurt, lost and blinded fool, fool / Oh no, I've said too much / I set it up”
Dick is more open than his siblings, but he does still hide things, especially from them. The line “I'm choosing my confessions / Trying to keep an eye on you” makes me think of Dick trying to take care of his siblings, whichever way he can
This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody) by Kishi Bashi: “Home is where I want to be / Pick me up and turn me round / I feel numb - born with a weak heart / I guess I must be having fun / The less we say about it the better / Make it up as we go along / Feet on the ground / Head in the sky / It's OK, I know nothing's wrong... nothing”
“Make it up as we go along / Feet on the ground / Head in the sky / It's OK, I know nothing's wrong... nothing” - this reads happier than it’s sang but I do think it describes the more positive side of the family dynamics!
You’re Not There by Lukas Graham: this one is abt (all of) his parents :( “I only got you in my stories / And you know I tell them right / I remember you and I, when I'm awake at night / So give it up for fallen glory / I never got to say goodbye / I wish I could ask for just a bit more time”
There are times where the deaths of his parents & Bruce (and Alfred) weigh heavily on him, and that everything he does is kind of continuing on where they left off, or doing something they didn’t have time to do. I think he would tell his kids stories about them and that he would try to be as true to them as he can be. And then of course, “So give it up for fallen glory / I never got to say goodbye / I wish I could ask for just a bit more time” is kind of his relationship with his parents after they die
— BRUCE:
(I gave him a separate section bc I have a lot of feels abt them okay??)
The Ballad of Dick Grayson by Crafty McVillain: there are actually a lot of songs abt Dick Grayson, but I picked this one bc of this: “Broken hearts improve, but my mind's broken too / Show me how to hurt and I'll hurt them with you / I'll take on the world, I will fight for you / But tell me how to stop, cause now I'm fighting you”
This is abt when Jason takes on Robin but I like to look at this like:
“Broken hearts improve, but my mind's broken too / Show me how to hurt and I'll hurt them with you” - this is when Dick first comes to the Manor, and when he’s first becoming Robin. He’s struggling and Bruce shows him a way to cope. (is it healthy? lmao)
“I'll take on the world, I will fight for you” - this is just...any time really lol. Dick is loyal to Bruce (to an extent) and will fight alongside him, will do almost anything for him
“But tell me how to stop, cause now I'm fighting you” - then this is how it feels when they’re broken apart for the first time, when they aren’t getting along and it’s just a change from the past few years, and Dick doesn’t know what to do about it
Let You Down by NF: “Feels like we're on the edge right now / I wish that I could say I'm proud / I'm sorry that I let you down / Let you down”
“I'm sorry that I let you down / Let you down” - this could be pre-emptive, Dick kind of thinking that no matter what he does, he’s most likely going to let Bruce down
Like how Bruce is always that 8 year old who lost his parents, Dick is always who he was the first night he went out as Robin, desperately wanting Bruce’s approval
He wants the approval and hates that he does, it feels like it holds him down
The Chain by Fleetwood Mac: “Listen to the wind blow / Watch the sun rise / Run in the shadows / Damn your love / Damn your lies”
When I read these lyrics, I think about Bruce and Dick when they’ve been arguing, having a quiet moment (the peace after the storm, zitkaplushie said), kind of reflecting, and Dick just thinks, “I want you to love me but I want you to stop lying to me.” Or like, “your love comes with your lies and I don’t know if I can handle that [right now].”
Numb by Linkin Park: “I've become so numb, I can't feel you there / Become so tired, so much more aware / I'm becoming this, all I want to do / Is be more like me and be less like you”
There’s this moment in canon, before he even gives up being Robin, where he’s acting just like Batman, hunting down criminals with a single-minded ferocity that has his friends legit concerned for him. I can’t remember exactly what he felt about it when he kind of snapped out it but these lyrics remind me of that. He doesn’t want to be like Bruce, he doesn’t want to be Batman, and especially as a teenager, that last line is big. Overall it also fits when Dick IS Batman, and he feels like he’s kind of being swallowed by everything that it is
The Archer by Taylor Swift: okay I’m sorry I can’t pick between these two: “I've got a hundred thrown out speeches / I almost said to you” and “And all of my heroes / Die all alone / Help me hold on to you”
There are a lot of things Dick doesn’t say to Bruce over the years, or things that he wants to say but doesn’t for however long until he can’t hold it in anymore or it’s the right time or whatever. Ultimately that line just tells me that their relationship isn’t one with great communicating
“And all of my heroes / Die all alone” - Bruce ‘dying’. “Help me hold on to you” - Batman when Dick is him. Or it could be about Dick’s parents, and then Dick trying to keep Bruce alive as Robin/Nightwing
#dick grayson#dick grayson meta#meta#dc#batfam#robin i#nightwing#my meta#sorry for all the OC tm today#im feeling manic lmao gotta do something#got sooooooo long#I FORGOT THE TITLE FUCK DKHFJKSH
Number one: your six most-listened songs.
I’m gonna list my Top 13 because that’s my favorite number
In no particular order:
Ramblin Man by the Allman Brothers
Country Roads by John Denver
Mamma Mia by Abba
It’s the End of the World as We Know It by REM
Fat Bottomed Girl by Queen
Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin by Journey
Albuquerque by Weird Al Yankovic
Hotel California by the Eagles
Northwest Passage by Stan Rogers
American Pie by Don McLean
Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley
Shut Up and Dance With Me by Walk The Moon
A Little Less Sixteen Candles by Fall Out Boy
I will stop what I’m doing to sing along to any of these when they come on. I limited myself to one per artist, but anything by Abba, Queen, Journey, and Weird Al could easily make its way onto this list.
Honorable mentions below the break
Mr. Blue Sky by Electric light Orchestra
I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by the Proclaimers
South Australia by the Kilkennys (it’s an old sea shanty, but their version is my favorite. I got big into sea shanties this year)
Danny Boy by Celtic Woman (their version always makes me cry)
Anything by Jonathan Coulton (Skullcrusher Mountain, RE: Your Brains, Mandelbrot Set, Code Monkey, Future Soon)
It’s My Party by Lesley Gore
Anything by Frank Sinatra (Luck be a Lady, Live Until I Die, My Way, You Make Me Feel So Young)
We’re Not Gonna Take It by Twisted Sister, though I actually prefer the cover by the Veronicas. Sue me.
Anything by Walk Off The Earth (Hold On, Climb Out Your Window, Here We Go, Addicted)
Hooked on a Feeling by Blue Suede
Sweet Virginia by the Rolling Stones
Monkey Wrench by the Foo Fighters (followed by Learn to Fly)
Walking on Broken Glass by Annie Lennox (and Little Bird)
Lovely Day by Bill Withers
Con te Partiro by Andrea Bocelli
Anything by Bo Burnham (Oh Bo, Channel 5 News, Hell of a Ride, Words Words Words)
Girls Chase Boys my Ingrid Michaelson
I Wanna Get Better by the Bleachers
Walk on Water by Thirty Seconds to Mars
Stacy’s Mom by Fountain of Wayne
Jesse’s Girl by Rick Springfield
Centerfold by the J. Geils Band
Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd, this was one of my favorites growing up, but I have struck it from the list as I’ve grown as a person. I grew up in the Deep South, but didn’t understand the systemic racism and clsoemindedness of “Southern Pride” until I left for college and expanded my world view. Fuck Lynyrd Skynyrd, and fuck the Confederacy. On that note;
While We Were Marching Through Georgia, the Civil War song. Last year I got really into Ken Burns’ Civil War documentary, and I started listening to old songs from the period, and this was by far my favorite. Oh sure, the south is “my heritage,” but fuck that. I’m a northerner at heart. My grandma had to sit at the back of the bus until she was an adult because her dad was black; his grandparents were all slaves! That’s how little time has passed, how few generations separated we are from slavery; my grandma’s great-grandma. She was alive when my grandma was born. My grandma is still alive. One lifetime ago. Fuck.
This took a depressing turn. Let’s get back to the music
Hey Jude by the Beatles
Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance (and Teenagers)
The Devil Went Down to Georgia by Charlie Daniels
Livin La Vida Loca by Ricky Martin
Take On Me by A-Ha
Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go by Wham!
