I’m sorry I’ve been AWOL. Someone at work quit unexpectedly and I have literally been doing both our jobs since July 31st. My sanity is very suspect, but I started making some changes to my new program and everyone in management is very on board and it’s going to keep getting easier as I go. I’m still here and I’m still obsessed with Bagginshield and Ori/Dwalin (Orwin?) and everything that has to do with Tolkien. Every day I wake up and think “just keep swimming” and it takes all my time to get done what I need to, without any spare time for what I want to. But I will be back, as soon as I can get the other position covered.

If you followed me for Tolkien content, I will be back. I ENJOY this. I want to do it again.

Hi! I have a question about Misella and Kanata. Since you've mentioned ships and what's allowed and all, I do get they're not explicitly "canon" per se (like Orwin and Naya kind of canon), but Misella has that, you know, side to her about Kanata. Should all that stuff be toned down for fics? Since she has that really blatant "I love Kanata" side of her where she props him up and stuff? Just wondering because it's a core aspect of her character I feel like, but I also totally get why that may lean into "shippy" territory with them. I'm just thinking along the lines of, if I include her in a fic, what's accepted as "that's canon for her though" and "too shippy"? Wasn't thinking about writing any shippy content, but since that's just kinda how she is I was curious if there were any limitations to how that pair should be handled and how Misella's gushing over him should be handled.

Sorry if this is a difficult question!!! I'm just curious in case I decide to write something that ends up including her, because I'm not sure what counts as shippy and what counts as just Misella's actual characterization with her.

No, you're fine.

You're right that Misella's blatant "I love Kanata" side of her is a key part of her characterization, and so taking away from that takes a lot out of her canon. It's come up a couple of times within our mod chat because I know Rebecca has a similar canon in that regard with Aegis.

So with either case, I'd say that it's fine to write for Misella gushing for Kanata as long as it's not reciprocated. And if you do write/write about her with that angle, you can always double-check with us if you think it's too much. Chances are it'll probably be fine. c:

25. Your character

All of my muses are favorites of mine in the series for various reasons. So forgive me for the long ramble.

Chloe and Jay were natural choices because they're my favorites to play as in Legendia and just my favorite characters of their party in general. Jay especially grew on me even more than he already had in past playthroughs when I did my most recent run.

While Jade is actually my favorite character in Abyss, I have a lot of love for just about every character in the cast regardless of protag or antag status. Except Mohs. He's like the one exception. So it's natural I gravitate toward that game in particular. To go into depth about every single one of them would take all day. Ion and Mieu are both adorable and the latter needs all the hugs. Tear is so strong of heart and, fun fact, the inspiration for how I do a part of my hairstyle. Asch deserves the world, and Sync... garbage child. I grew very attached to him when I first played the game in high school and never looked back.

Repede and Rita are two of my favorites to play as in Vesperia, and I just love Rita as a character in general. Repede's just cool because how often do you see an animal being playable in a Tales game? Maybe someday I'll bring Flynn onto the blog but today is not the day.

Hubert's my favorite to play as and favorite in general in Graces. And honestly... I relate to him a lot in some ways. Baby boy deserves the world.

Jude is also easily my favorite to play as and favorite character in general in Xillia. I just love the growth he goes through! And even though Ludger isn't my go to playable character in Xillia 2, I love him a lot as a character. I went in to Xillia 2 kind of thinking it would be a similar situation to DotNW where I did not like the new characters apart from Tenebrae and Richter. But Ludger and Elle very quickly won me over. So I gotta give the boyo some love too.

Edna and Eizen pretty much are a package deal even if the games say otherwise. They're both my favorites from Zestiria and Berseria, but Alisha grew on me a lot when I replayed Zestiria recently. She deserves the world, and therefore I shall give it to her. Magilou I didn't originally plan on writing, but after I did a test post as her I just was like 'Okay, yeah, I have to keep writing her.' So I did.

And Aegis is my favorite by default of Crestoria because honestly, he's probably one of the most interesting to me of the Sin Squad with Orwin and Vicious right behind him. So even though he doesn't get a ton of interaction on this blog, I still love him.

And Rinwell and Kisara not only are both from the newest mainline game, but you know. Both favorites of mine from their respective game. Rinwell is my main, and I basically knew from the word go in the demo that she'd be my favorite of the playable cast. Kisara I honestly grew to love more as I wrote some Arise fanfics, and so it just felt natural to eventually add her too.

Then there's the oddballs in Walter and Ivar. NPCs who both deserve the world. I know a lot of people don't like Ivar, but I think he's really interesting and he does go through a bit of growth between Xillia and Xillia 2. And Walter is just fascinating to me. I wish there was more of him in Legendia than what we get, and it crushes my soul to know that he could have been playable but then just... wasn't due to 'complications in implementing it.' So I just give him and Ivar all the love here on this blog that I can.)

26. Another active muse

(ooc: Okay, so I wouldn't say he's active since he's on my lowest priority blog, but I do write Shadow from the Sonic series. And I love him to death. Maybe not the character he's turned into due to the way the games have been writing him in recent years, but early 2000s Shadow is fantastic as a character. I'll spare the long ramble I could go on here but I especially love how he is in SA2. He's best boy.)

Hello!! I was wondering, if this interest check... checks out (I'm sorry I promise I'm not Cress behind the anon), is this an event for only the Crestoria cast, or are we allowed to create content for/include the crossover characters from the game who participated in any capacity in the story (like how we got Luke, Reid, Leon etc)? I know since the manga got rid of the crossover part that it would make any content with them game specific.

On that note, I am curious about how content would work for this event since the game and manga are very different in some parts (like moving Orwin's stuff up so it happens way sooner, or completely changing some aspects of Aegis and Yuna's stories, to use examples without manga spoilers). Is there anything the mods have decided on in that regard?

These are two great questions, though, and I got answers.

Crossover content/crossover characters will be accepted. Since this was a mechanic that was highly hyped and enjoyed by many of the game's players, not to mention integrated within the game's main/side stories, we're not gonna disallow it. There should be a good mix of the Crestoria-original characters and legacy characters where the latter won't take a way from the former.

2. Talked this one over with the whole mod team just for clarification on both our ends. We will be accepting submissions that are based both on the game and manga. We did base our 16+ rating on the games because - and since I'm assuming you've been keeping up with the manga because you're referencing it - the manga uh. can get sometimes excessive with creative liberties. which includes Rebecca's sexual assault and the excessive violence that happens in the Medagal arc.

So the rating is based on the game because these graphic depictions can be triggering and we just want to have an overall good time. It's just a safety net while still keeping the overall Crestoria themes in check.

But you wanted to explore a topic that was in the manga that wasn't in the game that'd be fine, like Aegis or Yuna's canon divergences or any of the character explorations with the new knights or whatever's going on with Orwin's arc (new chapter tomorrow).

I know you didn't bring this up specifically but all manga content besides the graphic stuff is fair game too, including spoilers that'll happen from now/tomorrow to when the zine drops. Since the manga's currently ongoing, it'd just be harder to keep track of what spoilers are/aren't allowed. (If/when you sign up/join the discord, we will ask for you to be mindful when you're talking about manga spoilers outside of zine work).

Depending on how many people are interested in manga-exclusive content, we could probably discuss putting spoiler warnings within the zine too, but that's future discussion.
