Favorite part of cowriting?

Knowing that you’re Making Things with someone else is always super fun!! So often while writing alone, I’ll lose motivation to work on smth bc I have no one there to keep me going—but that’s not an issue with a co-writer :D I think there’s also just. a certain comfort in having someone who you feel you can share all your ideas with + bounce jokes off of. Also. The Bits—not even all for fic planning lol. For instance, the weird color thing going on in this post is me riffing off whatever tf Melon’s has going on rn lmfao. What is this rainbow nightmare

Least favorite part of cowriting?

Logging onto the doc to write and seeing Melon’s icon just. Staring at me menacingly. (Bri thankfully does not have a pfp that stares LOL)  asjdklf;sjls;kdj idk—logically I know they’re not like. Judging everything I write but it’s just Weird. *shrug* Really, though, there’s nothing I actively dislike about it lol

How did you meet?

Melon straight up just DM’d me on Tumblr w/ three story ideas asking if I’d be interested in a collab, and I said yes! Bri happened to join the CTHL discord server later on, and after joking about working on a oneshot for the series, joined us in working on the installments we have in progress currently :) It was all very much a stroke of luck that I’m running with for as long as I can lol

What's the brainstorming process like?

Typically, we’ll start with a few characters/plotlines we want to include (ex. Scar’s silent grief in CTHL, Gem’s longing for a sense of home, etc.) and then bounce ideas and jokes off each other until we come up with enough to write up a scene by scene outline. It’s always cool to see what the others come up with since they’ll sometimes toss out ideas that would put me out of my comfort zone to write—fun fact: CTHL was the first time I ever wrote Etho, and like. half the CTHL cast tbh

What's the system for writing?

We all just. chuck words at the draft doc when we have free time. Yeah.

Favorite thing you've written together?

You want me to choose a child???? klas;jdflas ugh fine I’ll compromise and give you two (2) children that come to mind first. but know I love all of my children equally :)

The very first descriptions of Meris Hollow in CTHL are near and dear to my heart since I think that was the part for me where it clicked just how well Melon’s and my writing could blend?? I remember splicing together bits of their description with some of mine and realizing I couldn’t tell who’d written what but that it was gorgeous

In chapter 4 of CTHL, the convo between Gem and Grian was mostly freestyled tbh (we knew it was going to take place but not the content in it) but it turned out to be one of my favorite scenes in the fic

What character do you always leave to the other person to write?

Ahahahahaha Keralis does not exist in the Nadia Brain. All his lines are Melon Exclusives

okay i just put this in the tags of a different post but now i have to put it in another post so i can talk about it more <3

celestia and luna : kusuo and kusuke is NOT a cut and dry comparison and neither of them fit one or the other perfectly.. for the most part, kusuo is celestia and kusuke is luna (kusuke lashing out because he thinks kusuo is better than him, that things are easier for kusuo, kusuo not understanding, etc etc.) but the problem with that by itself is that that goes BOTH ways in almost the same exact way, the biggest difference is in how they cope with it all.. kusuo also sees himself in luna A LOT, but unlike kusuke he keeps his issues bottled up and never once takes it out on him.. he competes back to kusuke, especially when they were kids, but for the most part he doesnt WANT to and only does it because either 1) kusuke tries to make him feel inferior or 2) kusuke BRIBES him to do it ???

they both think the other has it better and wish that they could live the others life, and neither of them understand the others struggles (and probably never will fully, but hopefully itll get better for them.)

kusuo definitely watched mlp and thinks of HIMSELF as the luna or the 'nightmare moon' of the two of them because, even though he hasnt ever actually lashed out in that way, he knows how perfectly capable of it he is and he believes himself to be some sort of monster.. and its not really a rational way for him to see things, especially since he doesnt even usually view kusuke in a positive light ? but lunas story just hits home with him that badly..

this is just one reason why i think it sucks that kusuo being "powerless" basically only lasted a weekend, because we totally couldve gotten to see a "celestia and luna switching cutie marks for a day" kind of dynamic between kusuo and kusuke.. obviously not with kusuke having powers, but with him being above kusuo and more powerful than the general human race and realizing that being better than kusuo isnt what he wanted it to be..

and seeing how absolutely depressed and in denial kusuo becomes at first when he starts getting his powers back wouldve hit so much harder for kusuke if it had been a slower realization before kusuo could begin accepting himself again

hey it’s out in new zealand, that’s my break and i’ve had this draft waiting for, like, two weeks.

some notes on the codenames (source x) that blood of eden uses for the lyctors

all of the blood of eden codenames for the lyctors are based on mythical weapons, the exception being source aegis (athena’s shield, sometimes featuring the gorgon’s head), but it does make sense upon reconsideration because gideon was not the person the codename was meant for, it was pyrrha, and what is a cavalier if not a protector of their necromancer? it makes much more sense for pyrrha to be the source aegis referred to as wake’s informant, especially since we learned that phyrra was the one who instigated the relationship, not gideon prime.

source piotra took me a moment because it’s a version of the name peter and i was just ??? about it because i was not exposed to anything to do with christian religion until i moved to newfoundland and had to start religious studies in the middle of fifth grade. however, there is a legendary sword that was used by the apostle peter, which is said by some to have been brought by joseph of arimathea to britain, at the same time the poznañ archcathedral (the oldest polish cathedral, settling why the name is piotra, the polish version of peter) displays the copy of the supposed blade itself, a roman gladius with a spaded end.

joyeuse for mercymorn—did blood of eden know her simply as the saint of joy first, given that mercymorn wanted their names to be forgotten and not used, and thus codenamed her after a sword containing the word ‘joy’? joyeuse itself is the legendary sword of charlemagne, the first holy roman emperor, and described in the song of roland. the blade used at the coronation of french kings is claimed to be joyeuse and has been altered over the centuries before being displayed in the louvre today.

cassiopeia continues the mythological swords theme by being named source gram after the sword of sigurd, known as gramr in old norse, which was used to slay a dragon in the volsunga saga. as for why? i’m going to go with the proto-indo-european serpent slaying myth to connect them, cassiopeia being the mother of andromeda who was staked out and left for the sea monster kētŏs (who is not a kraken, thank you very much for inserting that idea into popular culture, clash of the titans), who was also described as a sea serpent, given the similarities between serpents and dragons in greek myth.

now, as for cytherea, source chrysaor. i was confused because i kept looking at chrysaor the mythological person before smacking myself upside the head and recalling the faerie queene by edmund spenser where chrysaor is a sword wielded by sir artegall. sir artegall, the embodiment of justice, the champion of justice. and justice, to blood of eden, is ‘the vengeance of the ten billion,’ it is justice to ‘kill the emperor and burn his houses.’ in cytherea’s own words. (there is also demeter’s title khrusaôros, referring to the golden blades of wheat, and cytherea’s return to the first house is to harvest the seeds planted during the past ten thousand years, to cut down the heirs of the nine houses in the same way wheat is cut.)

Y'all enjoyed the comparison post of the Before & Afters of HGTVs Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge, so much, yesterday, I thought you'd like to see what it looked like BEFORE the Barbie transformation. They looked at 50 houses before they chose this beige one.

Apparently, it was never meant to be livable. (Ah, but it is! I would definitely live here with my Barbie collection. It would be the jewel in the crown.)

Seriously, I hate the dated oak. And, HGTV paid $1.75M for it?

It was plain. Nothing special at all, but I guess they chose it b/c it has nice swirling walls, stairs and balconies.

Wow, they put in these great floors, only to be removed again, and replaced by wood flooring. This rainbow ceiling went right back to white.

I still can't believe they turned it into a white, gray and black version of the same dull house.

The kitchen was so dated and missing a fridge. They used such high end reproduction appliances that they kept them and they actually make the new modern kitchen look ugly.

Seriously, I don't like the way the retro appliances look in the new improved kitchen. They're too retro for the modern look.

Boring family room had no personality.

What a disappointing primary bedroom before. They really dressed it up- love the sparkly ceiling.

They kept the wall fireplace as a focal point.

The en-suite was big and bland.

The only room they kept was Ken's den but they got rid of the disco floor. Come on.

Barbie's office got built-in shelving, which they also kept.

Barbie's closet was eventually eliminated and turned into another home office.

And, now, with it's new white & black transformation, it's been sold. The neighborhood is happy, the new owner is happy, all the neutral lovers are happy.

Whump Idea

Yes I know this is my first time posting whump (or really posting on this acc) but I had an idea!

A Whumpee who loves colors, rainbows 🌈

And a whumper who wears different colors depending on how they’re going to torture Whumpee that day.

Red means whumper is going to cut Whumpee

Orange means fire

Yellow means electricity

Green means they’re going to be drugged

Blue means waterboarding/ water torture

Purple means they’re going to be tied in uncomfortable positions (leaving purple bruises where they’ve been tied) and left all day.

Pink is Whumper’s favorite, it means they’re mixing a bit of multiple.

Black is Whumpee’s favorite. It means Whumper is ignoring them that day. Sure it also means no food or water, but that’s surely better than having Whumper’s attention.

Grey means Whumper is feeling nice, and they’re going to cuddle.

Whumper never wears white, that’s for Whumpee to wear so Whumper can see all their blood and scars beneath the fabric.

Just imagine the recovery for Whumpee after all this, someone who once loved having every color in their room needing everything to be black or white. Panicking when they see colors they used to love. Going outside is a nightmare.

How is Caretaker going to get rid of this kind of conditioning?

Writing beans have been kind to me the past two days! Yesterday I wrote over 1K for my buddie fantasy au and today I made progress on chapter nine of Rival Firefighter 🚒, which is what today’s snippet is from.

As they’re walking, Chris turns to Buck, his eyes shining with gratitude and happiness. "Thanks for bringing me here, Buck. This was the best day ever!"

Buck smiles warmly at him. “Yeah, it was a pretty great day huh?”

He knows that this day at the zoo with Chris was exactly what he needed, what they needed. They survived a tsunami, and even though that day will always haunt his nightmares, he won’t let it haunt his waking life, especially the moments he spends with Chris. Today he proved to himself that he could take care of Chris, that what happened at the pier wasn’t his fault, just a case of wrong place wrong time. He couldn't have predicted what would happen that day, just like he can’t predict what could happen tomorrow.

They reach the Jeep, Buck opening the back door for Chris and helping him inside before heading to the driver's side. The drive back is filled with laughter, Chris using Buck’s phone to record a video for Eddie relaying stories about their favorite animals from the zoo. Chris sends the video to his dad and then falls asleep with a content smile on his face, his crutches resting beside him.

When they arrive at Eddie’s, Buck uses his key to unlock the front door before going back to the car for Chris, carrying him inside and down the hall to his bedroom, making sure to take his shoes off before tucking him into bed.

Chris stirs, his fluttering open briefly. “Love you, Buck.” He slurs out before falling back asleep.

A rainbow of colors explode from his heart, painting every cell in his body with the love he has for Christopher. It feels so strong and visceral that he’s surprised to find his hand bare of color when he reaches out to brush a strand of hair away from Chris's face.

"I love you too, Chris."

Hi, fam! Okay, so I'm going to be out at an appointment tomorrow morning, so I'm kicking this off a little bit early. It's technically Wednesday in several timezones and very nearly Wednesday in mine. I'm... also a bit eager to share this, ngl.

I know that I've shared a lot of angst lately, but I swear that's not all I'm doing. 😅 In fact, the actor/playwright AU decided to wallop me in the face out of nowhere after sitting in my WIP folder for months. I'm really excited about it, so I'm gonna share the first scene!

(Also, those of you who have been to New York with me will recognize my favorite brunch spot in this scene lmao.)

You probably didn't even know I was in the room, but I noticed you straight away. You were talking with your friends, happy and animated and fully alive—a person living in dimensions I couldn’t access—and so beautiful. Your hair was longer then. You were the center of attention, but you weren’t afraid. You had a yellow ipê-amarelo in your pocket. I thought, this is the most incredible thing I have ever seen; I'd better keep it a safe distance away from me. I thought, if someone like that ever loved me, it would set me on fire.

INT. MOM'S KITCHEN & BAR - HELL'S KITCHEN - LATE MORNING

"I'm telling y'all," Alex is saying, punctuating with dangerously large bites of his pancake burrito. "The dude's a dick." 

It's been two hours since the nightmare audition, but Alex has been on this tirade since June and Nora first slid into the retro diner chairs across from him (at least forty-five minutes ago).

They're at Mom's: a restaurant-bar in midtown that can only be described as millennial nostalgia incarnate. The trio fell in love with it two years back—post-karaoke, stumbling in right before closing—when Alex saw God in their Fruity Pebble pancakes.  Since then, it's been his favorite place to eat his feelings.

Mom's is just really fucking comforting in general, honestly; whether it's the televisions cycling through episodes of 'Rugrats,' 'Dexter's Laboratory,' and 'Hey, Arnold!' or  the rainbow straws and Lisa-Frank-looking menus, Alex can't be sure. It doesn't hurt that they've made friends with several of the waitstaff, including an eccentric bartender, Pez, whose pink hair and painted nails fit right in with the decor. 

Today, it's the combination of breakfast sausage, bacon, eggs and cheese wrapped up in a syrup-soaked pancake that's really doing something for him. It could also be the margarita the size of his face, which Pez placed in front of him before making himself uncharacteristically scarce. But it's fine. He's probably just busy.

Alex won't admit it out loud, but what really helps is having June and Nora here to talk to… even though Nora is scrolling on her phone.

"I'm sorry," June says. She pokes an ice cube with her straw, and Alex watches as it bobs around her mimosa like a buoy. "That sounds like it sucked, but if he's really that rude… maybe you didn't want to work with him anyway."

Nora doesn't look up as she pops a home fry into her mouth. 

"Several sources say he's difficult to work with," she adds, evidently reading about Henry on the internet. "Though, in his defense, his dad did just die, like, three years ago… and there was that whole thing when he came out after. Remember?"

Alex does remember. Henry's grandmother, Mary Mountchristen, runs a pretty major company that used to own half the theatres on the West End. When Henry came out last year, she tried blacklisting his shows from her properties to punish him—which totally backfired when it got around. At least a dozen other queer writers and producers started talking about how they were also denied the space, and Mary was stoned on the streets of the theatre district. Like, metaphorically. 

Alex, Nora, and June had just moved to New York, but between June's position at Newsday and both Alex and Nora on the audition circuit, it was all anyone in their new circles could talk about. They were some of the first to know when the Mountchristens were bought out of their properties and Henry moved to the States.

This show is the first of Henry's being produced here—and it's autobiographical, which Alex has to admit is pretty fucking baller. So, yeah, Nora's not wrong. He has reason to be standoffish. Still, it doesn't explain why Alex was only halfway through his audition monologue when Henry abruptly stood up and exited stage left as if pursued by a bear.

He shoves another forkful into his mouth. "It's just, like, they're the only people who let me into the room," he says, barely finishing chewing. "Nobody wants to take me seriously, and I really thought this was my shot, you know?"

June and Nora both know Alex is having a hard time landing serious roles after growing up on a sitcom—Nora more than most, as his former co-star. What they don't know is that losing this role, specifically, feels like a kick to the stomach. From the moment Alex saw the script, he wanted to be a part of it. He can't even explain why, and now he'll never figure it out. Henry wouldn't give him a chance.

"It wasn't your only shot, and you know it." Nora fixes him with a look. "Seriously, I get it—I do—but it's just one play, buddy."

June nods. "Something will happen for you, baby brother."

At that, Alex finally groans. "Okay, calling me baby brother doesn't help me feel better about the entertainment industry infantili—"

"—itty bitty, teeny weeny—"

Alex throws a home fry at her face. 

It bounces off her forehead and into the giant gauntlet holding her mimosa with a very unappetizing splash. Just as Alex throws his hands into the air with a victorious whoop, his phone buzzes on the table. 

A glance is all it takes for him to see that it's his agent, Zahra.

"Damn," he says, deflating. There goes that upswing. "You answer it."

June balks. "Me?"

"I don't need to hear how fucking badly it went. Trust me, I got the message." Alex blinks innocently, like he's six years old again, asking her to lie to their mom about that broken vase. "Please, Bug? Besides, Zahra actually likes you."

"Everyone likes me." June rolls her eyes, but she caves—answering the phone with a haughty, "Alex Claremont-Diaz's office," before breaking into a smile. "Yeah, Z. It's me… No, Alex is feeling a little sensitive today."

(He throws another home fry at her. This one misses.)

To her credit, June's face remains totally blank as Zahra no doubt tells her how Alex insulted Henry Fox's name and all of his inbred ancestors just by showing up, or whatever—which is extremely annoying and unhelpful—but, once she says goodbye and sets the phone back down on the table, her face breaks out into a grin.

"Guess you didn't suck too bad," she says. "They want you for the part."

He doesn't know if it's Nora throwing herself at him or the shock that knocks him onto the floor.

Magic and Homosexuality in Merlin

As with pretty much any essay I post on here, this was mostly a minimally edited stream of consciousness. Because the show title is the same name as the main character, I tried to italicize when referring to the show and leave the text normal when referring to Merlin the character.

Merlin aired on the BBC from September 2008 through December 2012. Merlin is a retelling of the story of King Arthur, naturally focusing on Merlin, though it is certainly not in line with the typical legends of King Arthur and Merlin. In the traditional tellings, Merlin is a powerful sorcerer with almost complete knowledge of the past, present, and future (sometimes said to experience time backward), he is often the son of a demon or the devil himself, and is an ally or even court magician during the reign of Uther, Arthur’s father. In this depiction, Merlin is a young man, the same age as Arthur, born with a natural affinity for magic in a kingdom that has outlawed its use. He is sent to live with his uncle, the court physician, and becomes Prince Arthur’s servant. The concept of being forced to live with those who believe that a natural and unchangeable aspect of oneself is reprehensible or in a community that has effectively or literally outlawed this aspect is likely familiar to many members of the LGBT community. Both of the main magical characters, Merlin and Morgana, are forced to live among those who hate them for a fundamental aspect of themselves and often watch those they love insult, abuse, and even kill others like them. For LGBT people in our world and those with magic in Merlin the negative consequences of ‘coming out’ can range from social exclusion, loss of support from friends and family, homelessness, arrest, and even death. 

Merlin is thrilled to meet his uncle Gaius and learn that while he chose to stop practicing magic to remain working in the palace, Gaius had much magical experience and knowledge. Merlin is lucky enough to find his own small community in Gaius and Kilgharrah, the Great Dragon, who help guide him. His mother, Hunith, is rarely seen but she has known about Merlin’s magic for his entire life and has always supported him. Though he has chances to leave the palace and live amongst other magic users, Merlin chooses to stay due to the relationships he forged. His experiences are very reminiscent of my own growing up. I often compartmentalized my relationships with friends and family from what I knew their opinions on same-sex attraction were. One of my closest friends in high school had a ‘Take Back the Rainbow’ keychain, a movement for removing the rainbow’s association with the LGBT community, and although seeing it was an upsetting reminder that no matter how close we were I would never be able to share moments like my wedding with him we remained friends until we moved for university. Similarly, it is impossible for Merlin to share a key part of himself with any of his friends and family but he chooses to stay and deepen these relationships. 

The other main magical character in Merlin is Morgana. In this depiction, Morgana is the orphaned child of one of King Uther’s friends and allies and has been raised as Uther’s ward for most of her life. We later learn that Morgana is Uther’s biological child from an affair with her mother. Morgana was also born with magic but it presented itself much later than Merlin’s and initially, it is extremely distressing and confusing to her. If Merlin represents those who realize they are same-sex attracted at an early age and are given the support needed to become comfortable with themselves, Morgana represents those who only begin to realize their attraction in adolescence and have no support or resources to help them fully understand what is happening within them. Morgana begins to have prophetic dreams and nightmares and Gaius, being the court physician and having extensive magical knowledge, is aware that she is displaying magical abilities but neglects to use this knowledge to comfort or guide her. Though he has good intentions, Uther executes any magic users found in Camelot and would likely have little sympathy for his daughter. Gaius believes that ensuring that even Morgana does not understand her abilities will protect her from his wrath. While it likely does protect Morgana for a time, it also leads to her feeling that she has no support within the palace and feeling intense anger at those she used to consider family. An African proverb says “The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth” and Morgana is a textbook example of this. Though Gaius and Merlin attempt to support Morgana, they do so without directly letting her know how much they understand about what she is going through; Morgana can not feel their support and instead seeks out warmth from Camelot’s enemies. Her closest ally is her half-sister Morgose, a high priestess of the Old Religion, who has a (understandably) strong vendetta against Camelot and King Uther. This leads to Morgana being manipulated in some ways, though the love between the sisters is still obvious. In my opinion, this echoes how LGBT children who are not accepted by their communities are often led toward unhealthy and self-destructive coping mechanisms. LGBT youth, particularly those who are homeless or in foster care, have high rates of substance abuse and are more likely to engage in sex work or prostitution. They, like Morgana, are not given resources to help them cope with the lack of support they received in their childhood and the resulting trauma in healthy ways. This leads Morgana on a quest to destroy Camelot and those she feels have wronged her, destroying herself in the process. 

While Merlin never acknowledges the similarities between the plight of magic users and those in the LGBT community or the homoerotic tension built up between Merlin and Arthur and Morgana and Guinevere, among other characters, for many fans it is a powerful allegory.

TELL ME ABOUT ASGARD | Loki

☆ a/n: this is old, but i haven't posted it here yet. didn't really change much except for grammar issues (def cringed a bit at how much i sucked at grammar back then😭)

You laid in bed awake, the moonlight drifting inside the bedroom. Sitting up, you pushed the covers away from you, wrapping your arms around your knees and pulling them towards your chest. You couldn't sleep, and you knew why. The nightmares were coming back, worse than before.

You felt the bed dip and heard Loki shuffling behind you. You knew he was giving you a concerned look. “Can't sleep?” he asked. You nodded your head, pursing your lips. You shivered slightly as the night wind flew into the open window.

“Feeling cold?” he asked again, and you nodded your head a second time. The nighttime air tonight was much colder than the previous nights.

The bed shifted again, and arms wrapped around your waist, pulling you into Loki's chest. You leaned your back against him, your eyes fluttering close for a moment, finding comfort in his warm embrace. He wrapped his hand around yours.

“I'm sorry for waking you,” you mumbled, staring at the starry night sky. You fiddled with one of Loki's callused hands, your thumbs moving across his knuckles and large fingers.

“No need to be sorry, my love,” He said, placing a kiss on your shoulder. The both of you became silent, the sound of leaves rustling and wind whistling being the only sounds you hear as you stayed in Loki's embrace.

“Tell me... tell me about Asgard, please,” you whispered out of the blue, breaking the calm silence, mostly out of sheer curiosity of the golden city from where Loki spent most of his life in. His blue eyes widened at you before he raised an eyebrow. He contemplated your request before he nodded his head.

“It's a beautiful place. There's the Palace of Valaskjalf, where I was raised alongside Thor. Then there's the Rainbow Bridge that connects the castle to Himinbjorg. Himinbjorg connects Asgard to the other realms through the Bifrost, the energy that allows travel throughout the Nine Realms.”

“Is it truly the most wonderful thing in the universe?” You inquired, imagining what Asgard must've been in your mind's eye.

“There is one thing on Midgard that is much more beautiful than Asgard, or any of the Nine Realms, and I prefer it more than anything in the universe...” he trailed off as the corners of his mouth curve into a small smile against your shoulder.

A tinge of red tinted your cheeks, and you allowed a smile to escape from your lips, reaching the corners of your eyes. You knew he was talking about you. He said the exact same words to you back then when you first asked about the Norse realm.

“What is Asgard like?” You asked softly, leaning in slightly from your sitting position on the bed. You were curious about the place where Loki grew up.

"It's much more beautiful than here,” he replied, staring into your eyes. He hesitated for a moment, before adding, “but, there is one thing on Midgard that is much more beautiful than Asgard, or any of the Nine Realms, and I prefer it more than anything in the universe...”

"What is it, then?” You pressed on, a curious look on your face. Whatever it was, it must've been the most beautiful thing in the universe if it isn't the golden realm of Asgard.

Loki swiped a strand away from your face and tucked it behind your ear before leaning in and whispering, “You.”

You still remembered the memory as if it was yesterday, still remembered the words marked into your brain, still remembered the way his eyes filled with longing as he stared at you after his confession.

You brought yourself back to reality, and you heard Loki continuing to talk about Asgard and its people, all the while whispering sweet things into your ear. Your eyes started to droop, even though you wanted to hear what Loki had to say. Finally, you were asleep, Loki's words floating in your head.

Got a heartbreaking one for you: I Will Follow You into the Dark by Death Cab for Cutie.

This one works well for a Rainhaze and Slugpelt song, pre-defiance. It comes from their differing views of death we’re shown, how Slugpelt sees it as hopeless and desolate while Rainhaze sees it as comforting and warm.

In my mind I can see this with the younger siblings. Dustfeather being awful to Slugpaw, then later coming to Rainpaw and explaining that this was how love was supposed to be, for her, and Rainpaw severely doubts her. (Cut to the last line “so I never went back”, with Rainhaze leading Dustfeather into the territory late at night).

The very last chorus could be once Ranger reveals Rainhaze to his old clan, and Rainhaze tries to explain to them that death isn’t just something that shouldn’t be dreaded, but something benevolent, the best option. And then Slugpelt can go and Dustfeather him to close it off. (This ask was sent post issue 36, cannot guarantee any of this will happen. Fingers crossed though!!)
