I can definitely see Azula the more brooding, ancient one who hates that she still has to go to college (thinking of Carmilia!). She would unwittingly fall in love with her roommate (Katara) while trying to do whatever job she was given by her father?

If Katara was a vampire, I think she would be more like Juliette Fairmont from First Kill. She just wants to be normal and is an awkward teenager who falls in love with a hunter (Azula).

i can definitely give you some recs for wlw shows, although i need to give two little disclaimers first:

i actually know of only one european wlw show, so i hope it's okay if i expanded this list to include western shows in general ;;;;;;;;

networks and streaming platforms are my mortal enemies because they love cancelling sapphic shows after one or two seasons (AND FUCK THEM ALL FOR THAT TBH), but if i didn't put those series on the list, this would be very short and i also think we would be missing out on some great television, so im adding their status to let you know what to expect before getting into it

OKAY AND NOW WITHOUT FURTHER ADO LET'S GET INTO IT

a league of their own (comedy drama - 1 season - cancelled)

based on the 1992 film of the same name with new characters and storylines, the series, set in 1943, is about the formation of the rockford peaches, a women's team in the nascent all-american girls professional baseball league.

one of my favorites on this list and im so upset it got cancelled AMAZON PRIME YOU WILL PAY FOR YOUR CRIMES

anne+ (drama - 2 seasons + a movie - complete)

the one actual european wlw show of the list, this is a dutch drama series that follows the main character, anne, as she tries to navigate her early twenties as a young lesbian. upon bumping into her ex-girlfriend one day, anne reflects on how her past relationships have contributed to who she has become.

honestly for being from a smaller indie production this is such a relatable, engaging, and well-done series, i definitely recommend it!!!!

dickinson (historical comedy drama - 3 seasons - complete)

based on the life of emily dickinson, the series focuses on her relationships with her family, her friends, her society, and on her long-term romantic relationship with her childhood best friend and sister in law, sue.

another big favorite of mine, it's fun, wild, has an unique modern twist, and both hailee steinfeld and ella hunt are incredible

first kill (fantasy drama - 1 season - cancelled)

the series focus on the relationship between teenage vampire juliette fairmont, who needs to make her first kill in order to enter adulthood and take her place among her powerful family of legacy vampires, and calliope burns, who belongs to a monster-hunting family and needs to slay her first monster in order to gain her family's approval and officially become a hunter herself.

look, i know there are a lot of mixed reviews on this show, but personally i enjoyed it a lot. it's good, campy fun, and a breath of fresh air from the hetero love stories that pervade the genre

gentleman jack (historical drama - 2 seasons - cancelled)

based on the collected diaries of anne lister, which contain over four million words and are written in secret code, documenting a lifetime of lesbian relationships. the series starts in 1832, when anne leaves hastings brokenhearted and heads to halifax, to restore her uncle's estate that she has inherited. while restoring the estate, she finds that the family land has a coal mine that it's being stolen by two brothers and develops a relationship with a woman named ann walker.

genuinely SO UPSET about this one being cancelled, it was such a gorgeous show with the most delightful english humor and complex relationships WHY PEOPLE CAN'T RECOGNIZE QUALITY TELEVISION

gypsy (psychological thriller - 1 season - cancelled)

the series follows jean holloway, a therapist who seems to have it all, but who secretly obsesses over the people her patients talk about in their sessions. this leads her to seek out sydney, one of her patient's ex-girlfriend, with whom she starts developing a romantic relationship under a secret identity.

i wasn't sure whether to rec this or not because i have very mixed feelings about it like the concept is very intriguing to me but the execution wasn't the best imho. it's still a solid show tho, and naomi watts is. well, naomi watts

the haunting of bly manor (horror - 1 series - complete)

loosely based on the novella the turn of the screw by henry james, the series follows dani clayton, a young american woman hired as an au pair for the children of the wealthy wingrave family in england. after arriving at the bly estate, she begins to see apparitions that proceed to haunt the premises.

i personally LOVE all of mike flanagan's series, and this one is no exception, however (unpopular opinion) i do find the second half of it kinda lacking. it's still a fantastic show tho, and i adore victoria pedretti

killing eve (thriller - 4 seasons - complete [but at what cost])

the series follows eve polastri, a british intelligence investigator tasked with capturing an assassin named villanelle. as the chase progresses, the two develop a mutual obsession.

once again i wasn't sure whether to rec this or not because while the first two seasons of this show are honestly some of my all time favorite, and the third season is still acceptable, the last one is honestly one of the biggest disappointment i've ever experienced in television. still, i think it's a staple of wlw shows in the last decade so i had to include it

warrior nun (fantasy drama - 2 seasons - cancelled, but we should be getting a revival as a trilogy of feature films. hopefully)

the story follows ava silva, a a 19-year-old orphan who wakes up in a morgue with a new lease on life and a divine artifact embedded in her back. she discovers she is now part of the ancient order of the cruciform sword that has been tasked with fighting demons on earth, and powerful forces representing both heaven and hell want to find and control her.

when i tell you i was so skeptical when i started this show but it's honestly SO GOOD, it really has it all: talented cast, beautifully-written three-dimensional characters and relationships of all varieties, gorgeous cinematography, amazing fight scene choreography.......THEY BETTER DELIVER THOSE MOVIES OR IM GONNA BE SO UPSET

AND NOW LET ME ADD SOME SHOWS WITH WLW RELATIONSHIPS IN A BIGGER ENSEMBLE CAST

sense8 (scifi drama - 2 seasons - complete)

the story follows eight strangers as they discover that they form a cluster of "sensates": human beings who are mentally and emotionally linked, can sense and communicate with one another, and can share their knowledge, language and skills.

i don't think i could say something about this show that hasn't already been said tbh. it's wonderfully queer and explores issues related to identity, sexuality, gender, and politics. it's honestly a must watch.

the wilds (drama - 2 seasons - cancelled)

the series revolves around a group of teenage girls who are left stranded on a deserted island after their plane crashes on the way to the dawn of eve program, a young women's empowerment retreat. while the girls try to survive, they are unaware that they're actually the subjects of a social experiment.

AMAZON PRIME YOU WILL PAY FOR YOUR CRIMES PT. 2 STOP CANCELLING MY FAVORITE SHOWS 😭

yellowjackets (horror - 2 seasons - on going)

in 1996, a new jersey high school girls' soccer team travels to seattle for a national tournament. while flying over canada, their plane crashes deep in the wilderness, and the surviving team members are left stranded for nineteen months. the series follows both their attempts to stay alive in 1996 and the lives of the survivors 25 years later, in 2021, as the events of their ordeal continue to affect them many years after their rescue.

i. freaking. LOVE. this show!!!!!!!! but it also comes with a mile long list of trigger warnings, including cannibalism, SA, abuse, animal killing, etc. maybe it's silly to point this out considering the genre of the show, but still. just be safe if you do decide to watch it!!!!!!

and this is pretty much it!!!! this is obviously not a comprehensive list, im aware i left out some popular shows and other ones that feature sapphic relationships between side characters, but these are my personal favorites and they also feel like the series where the wlw part of the story is fairly front and center, at least imho ;;;;;;;;

While I do think Calliope is a huge part of Juliette’s life and story I don’t think that’s all Juliette is She’s more than just an extension of Cal just like Cal is more than an extension of Juliette. A concept I’ve never seen done in the fandom is Jules and Ben running away together Let’s say Jules finds a way to turn Theo human again, and after that she drops him off at the Burns place and drives away Then she goes to Ben like “Hey dude, I kinda wanna run away.” And he’s like “Alright, fuck it, what have we got to lose?”

They’re never heard from or seen again at least not for a few years The whole time they’re just chilling in one of the Fairmonts’ vacation homes in the Bahamas or something How did they make it as a couple of teenagers for those first few years I have no idea but they did it

It would also be cool to see if Jules could form a telepathic bond with Ben We’ve never seen her drink from someone without killing them so maybe everyone she bites and doesn’t kill she bonds with Or maybe she needs to love you or just have a strong connection with you to create a bond I have no doubt that if she could make a bond with Cal she could definitely make one with Ben

Restless pt.2

Calliope and Juliette had slept more than half the day away and they would’ve slept longer if it weren’t for their mothers. Juliette’s mom was clueless as to what was happening when Talia knocked on her door asking where calliope was. Margot and Sebastian had got in late last night and went straight to bed and Sebastian left early for work this morning while Margot was home checking emails and taking important phone calls, neither of them thought to check on Juliette. Talia didn’t realize calliope was gone till around lunchtime, she hadn’t seen her all day and she would have usually been training or out on a run by now. Talia checked calliope’s room to see it empty, she checked the whole house before tracking calliope’s phone to the Fairmont’s estate.

Talia knew how bad off calliope had been these past few weeks. At this point all Talia wanted was to see her kids happy, she wasn’t here to yell at calliope and drag her home she just wanted to see that calliope was alive and bring her some clothes. It’s been a rough few weeks in their house, Talia wasn’t even sleeping in the same room as her husband and their children were coping with loosing their brother by hunting and working out nonstop, neither of her children were doing well and she hated seeing her babies this way.

“Talia I have no clue where calliope is, if she was here I would know” Margot says, Talia sighs tiredly before she responds “I tracked her phone here, Margot I’m not here for any problems I just want to check on my daughter” Margot could tell Talia genuinely just wanted to check on her daughter, she took a second to listen for Juliette and she heard two blended soft snores and sighed “Talia I genuinely had no clue she was here until five seconds ago, I’ll take you to her, but for the safety of me and my daughter you know I need to check that bag first.” Margot said as she pointed to the backpack in Talia’s hand, “I understand” Talia said handing over the bag. Margot checked it and only found clothes, a bonnet, and a pouch with a toothbrush, toothpaste, and deodorant, Margot looked up with a questioning look on her face after checking the bag. “Listen I just want my kids happy and if Juliette is what calliope needs then so be it, I’m gonna let her stay one night, I’ll be back in the morning to pick her up”

Margot and Talia walked in Juliette’s room and saw their daughters sound asleep, Calliope nuzzled into Juliette’s neck while Juliette’s head rested on hers. Juliette was stirred awake by the sounds of shuffling, and opened her eyes to see both of their mothers standing in the doorway. “Cal” Juliette called softly but calliope didn’t move, “Calliope, baby wake up” Jules tried again but Calliope whimpered and dug her face further into Juliette’s neck, mumbling something incoherent in her sleep while the hand she had tangled in Juliette’s shirt tightened.

Talia walked over to the side of the bed where calliope was, she sat the backpack down, grabbed the bonnet and slid it on Calliope’s head. “Calliope look at me” Talia said to her daughter, Calliope recognized her voice and quickly turned her head with wide, shocked eyes , “mom please I-“ Talia cut her off “I’ll be back in the morning to pick you up and I’ll deal with your father if he asks questions ok” Calliope nodded slowly, highly confused and still half asleep “I love you” Talia said kissing Calliope’s forehead “I love you too mom” calliope said sitting up to hug her mom. They hugged for a few seconds before Talia took a deep breath and got up to leave the room. Margot and Juliette just watched in silence. Once Talia left the room Margot closed the door and showed Talia out.

When their mothers left calliope turned to Juliette she was feeling a bit better and figured they might as well deal with the hard stuff now, she needed Juliette to know she loved her. “Jules I know I hurt you that night and all those things I said were out of anger, I know you’re not a monster, and I’m so sorry I-“ Juliette cut Calliope off “but I am a monster” Calliope opened her mouth to speak but Juliette stopped her “No I am, I killed a man Calliope and I didn’t feel bad after, I was so hurt, and not because of you but because I know what I did was wrong, I thought draining someone would take the pain away, but I just felt worse after” Juliette had tears building up in her eyes, she took a deep breath and continued “I really didn’t mean to turn your brother but I still did and I’m sorry, I know I’m a monster but I love you Calliope so much” They were both hard down crying “Jules I don’t care who you killed, I know you didn’t mean to turn my brother and I know he’s still the same person he used to be, I can’t live without you Juliette, I love you too, monster or not”

“you love me? What about your family?” Juliette asked through her tears, Calliope grabbed her face wiping away her tears “I love you Juliette, I’ll die before I go another day without you in my life, I could care less about how my family feels. I want you, I need you Juliette” Juliette pulled Calliope in her lap, so calliope was straddling her and kissed her deeply. They both missed the feeling of being so close to one another, of kissing each other. They both felt their connection grow stronger the second their lips touched. They kissed until Calliope needed air, when Calliope pulled away they rested their foreheads together, “you feel it?” Cal asked, still breathing heavy catching her breath, Jules opens her eyes, looking into Cal’s big, brown ones, “I feel it” she responded smiling, not even having to ask what she was talking about.

Calliope pushed Juliette down softly into the pillows, pulled the covers on top of them, and made her self comfortable right on top of Juliette, she wanted to be as close as she possibly could to her love, she guided Juliette’s hands under the back of her shirt, silently asking Jules to rub her back. Juliette knew what Calliope wanted and obliged happily. “I love you” Cal mumbled, Juliette’s touch put her to sleep almost instantly, “I love you too” Juliette said and with that Calliope sighed happily into her neck and let herself fall asleep in Juliette’s arms.

Even before Juliette's sister met Cal's hotheaded brother, I had the idea that those two would make a dangerous power couple ship, and then the show goes and gives us the tease of that happening. Wonderful 😌 the humanxvampire tropes are delivered and I'm loving it but again regretting how short this series is; I don't think that feeling will decease as I continue to watch. I'm going to take a guess and say the vampires and hunters will have to team up and battle witches because they are the ones behind the missing organs; and the hotheaded brother and the flirty scheaming sister will somehow play into the plot. Probably the twin brother to the sister will be involved somehow. I'm really liking Juliette's relationship with her sister Elinor. They are close and the feud between them isn't so much a sibling rivalry but Elinor's nature of embracing being a vampire clashing with Juliette's empathy and dislike for being a vampire. The family dynamics between the Fairmonts (vampires) and the Burns (human hunters) are narrative foils/ parallel each other. the Fairmonts want to exist among society despite their vampirism the burns want to hide among society. It seems the Fairmonts hide anything that might seem supernatural in their homes, the burns infuse their homes and lives with supernatural and supernatural weapons. The sound track is still fire. I recalled that people shipped the two moms a lot over the main characters (and fair since we do lack the adult aged lgbtqi+ characters in content a lot then compared to lgbtqi+ teen characters in content) and seeing how the two mothers talked and looked at each other after the principals office...yeah I get it. 🤡🤭RIP their husbands in the viewers mind.
