(This is subjective, but you asked! Idk why I wanted to answer this ask before your other one… I guess I felt some type of way. It's a bit more ranty/bitchy so be forewarned. I’ve been in the fandom since the ENG release, so I've seen a lot of stuff that personally icks me. Dw I’ll get to your other ask!!)

Btw, I know some ppl won't like some of these opinions, but it's just my personal preferences at the end of the day! Friendly reminder: I am not the authority on Leona Kingscholar nor do I claim to be!!!

STINKY (But not metaphorically)

Why? He is an athlete and a prince? All the athletes I know bathe MORE than other ppl bc they get sweaty.  Besides…we all have bad hygiene when we aren't doing well mentally? So, this HC at best is just gross, and at WORST is offensive.  Also, just a question for ppl who do STILL this: Why would you WANT him to stink??? I never understood this mindset, even if he WAS that lazy. I simply wouldn’t wanna HC that he stinks. I love myself. GFBHNJM (Idia seems to get this stinky boy treatment too WHYY??? Sorry, I choose to believe my man smells good.)

HERBIVORE. (The H-Word)

I think where people lose me fast in Leona fics is hitting me over the head with the word “herbivore.” Honestly…he doesn't use the word as much as people think?? And I don’t think he would call his S/O at all. I find it mean? Because of the Japanese context of this word, and just the literal meaning. I think of it as more akin to the word “whimp” or “weakling.” It's not…cute to me? He doesn’t even use it for the MC later in the game as much. So, unless you're a lion beastman or fellow carnivore, I’d expect prey nicknames. Kitten, mouse, bird, bunny, etc. He even likens the MC to a “kitten” in a few voicelines. Just makes more sense to me, idk. Think of the silly nicknames he has for the canon cast. That or you know…he’d just use your name.

BRUTE BOYFRIEND

He's rude, sure. But no…Leona is NOT beating anyone up for looking/flirting with you. Would he be annoyed, maybe even secretly furious? Sure. But, he's not a “brute strength" kinda guy who uses his fists. (It’s almost like it's his main battle line!) If someone truly hurt you or did something off-color, he’d probably send someone else to do the dirty work to intimidate or deal with them.  In a real fight, OFC he'd defend you, but fighting cause some guy winked at you? NO. I don’t personally believe so. He’s a grown man with high intelligence, so I think high school like beef would be a bit beneath him?? At least he'd have one of his goons go do it.

ALOOF BOYFRIEND

I think where a lot of ppl lose me is the “aloof/stoic” bf thing.  No doubt he would keep his distance at the first instance of catching feelings because he doesn't wanna be hurt. At first, he’s only batting at you to gauge how you feel for him. But if he becomes seriously interested, and then you begin dating, I just don’t believe he would care what other people think. Or try to downplay your relationship. He’d wait for you to make the first real move, sure…but YOU’D KNOW. I just think about how he acted toward Sally in the last Halloween event and how he was almost “uncharacteristically” sweet to her. I think because Leona isn't super close to anyone in NRC—beyond a few of his frosh or respect-based relationships (like he has with Vil), we don’t see this side of him often, and so it comes as a shock.  Without spoiling anything, let’s just say…he was VERY unbothered at everyone's reaction to his soft side. He was focused on Sally and being nice to her. And if we apply this to “bf status Leona,” I think he’d be too focused on YOU to worry about what other ppl think of him. I’ve been preaching for years that this part of him always existed, and that now he just chooses who sees it. He saves his softness for very specific people he deems worthy of his time. Period. You’ll have to play a bit of a game to get on his good side, but like the motto of Savanaclaw: PERSISTENTLY proving to Leona that you care for him despite his flaws, he’ll come around. And when you're together, well- (I'll save that for the other ask) Especially if you are in an established relationship. He clearly thinks the world of you. He doesn’t have many close relationships, so you think he’s wasting his time with someone he wouldn’t even bother to be nice to??? Besides, Leona later in the main story becomes quite self-aware of his inability to reach out to others, despite craving affection desperately. He knows it's his blind spot, SO he's putting effort into being a good bf to you!

To further my above point, I think people forget he is a few years older than even the other 3 years, and…was raised by an old man? I think when ppl write him with low emotional maturity...it loses me. I get it, he's a brat. And often he CHOOSES to act like a petulant prince when it suits him. But, I think deep down esp in more serious situations, we’ve seen that he's wise, calm, and level-headed. Just some nuance, please.

“USING YOU AS A PILLOW”

Napping/cuddling together is no doubt one of the nicest things you can do with a partner. And I’ve even implemented this kinda thing in my writing. HOWEVER, there is a certain flavor of this I dislike. Esp when it’s “forced” on the reader/OC. Sometimes I find this is ALL ppl write about him in those HC posts, esp ones that aren’t Leona focused. That or “Leona dragging you off to be his pillow.”  (A bit of my life is taken every time I read this sentence now…) I know there are new folks coming into the fandom who may repeat old tropes, and that's fine! But, I STILL see this from people who have been here for yearssssssss. It's just cliche to me. I do believe he's a cuddly guy, EXTREMELY SO. It's just that specific phrase that icks me. Maybe it’s the implication that he does it against your will and is aggressive about it?? Just, no thanks.

"I CAN FIX HIM”

Okay maybe now we’re getting into the more controversial ones?? I think the idea of “tru wuv” fixing someone’s flaws is just unappealing as a concept to me and completely against what I think love is about. The “dragging him to class”, “making him dress up more,” or “forcing him to get along with his family” is not something I think he’d put up with. He’s grown, he's extremely stubborn, he knows he’s failing school. He doesn't need another person to nag him! Ruggie already does that! Plus, family relations are complicated. Idk…if someone I started dating tried to get me to talk with a family member who I felt genuinely hurt/neglected me, I’d be annoyed af??   I think he would find it all patronizing coming from a romantic partner. It's one thing if he chooses to be better himself or for his mental health to improve gradually, but forcing things on him and “nagging” him constantly about his behavior at school and at home is just what his family does so- He's flawed, VERY MUCH SO. But, I think when it comes to relationships…everyone has flaws they deal with easier in a partner than others. Like you can maybe deal better with someone being socially awkward, but can't stand your S/O having a messy room. Like if your “hard nos” are lazy people, your S/O dressing “sloppy,” or someone who can be petty and rude to others- Well, you get my point.  It's like....if you hate playing video games and wanna ship with Idia. My question is why?? I’m genuinely curious why you even like this character in the first place?? Hot take, (I guess) this is the reason I don't really ship LeoVil. It just rubs me the wrong way how it turns Leona into a “fix me” project thing. And not to mention how Vil talks to Leona canonically in a demeaning way. (I love you Vil, but you’re wrong.) Leona needs a kick in the ass for sure, all the twst boys do, but personally when a fic/ship leans too heavy on the dynamic of “I can fix/change him” it turns me off. As someone who's been in a long-term relationship… if your day-to-day lifestyles don’t align when living together…ya’ll are gonna be at each other's throats over the small stuff. That’s just how it works irl. And...I understand if everyone doesn't want to apply this logic to fictional ships.  I just personally am not fond of this dynamic. And with Leona being a beastman AND a POC, it often feels like a loaded trope to apply to him.

DISPOSABLE LION BOYFRIEND

Last one! (Maybe most controversial idk) I just think Leona is not good at being a romance rival, (assuming we're not talking about poly situation) despite him being competitive. While ofc I think it's possible for an MC or OC to have multiple crushes and things, I think Leona is someone who wouldn’t handle this well? Like, if Leona feels like he’s gotta compete for scraps of your attention, at a certain point...I'd think he’d just give up, or at least give you your space to come to him. He’s had to compete for attention his whole life, and I feel like he's too emotionally mature and ego-driven to put up with these kinds of games for too long? I DO think it's interesting to explore the dynamic of having multiple love interests!! I even do it for a lil drama! But…in gen I don’t prefer when it feels like Leona is just there to be the "the disposable love interest" considering all of his insecurities of being second. Honestly, in that case, I can see him giving an ultimatum? He's a grown man among...mostly teens, I PERSONALLY just can't see him being a love rival with a child. FGHJK

She acts more shy whenever your around her, she doesn’t really know how to interact with you. More so because she doesn’t know how to… react to your feelings.

Yes she loves you back, but she’s never had a crush/lover so she’s as lost and inexperienced as you.

Although others are jealous of her, they also find it pretty fucking cute, and make a whole ‘will they or won’t they’ game show.

In battle acheron will always crit for you, and when in idle she compliments you subtly. She doesn’t wanna scare you away.

The ancient scrolls say you believe their video game characters. so she’ll hide her time until you finally get transferred back here, to your real home AND to her.

And when you do get isekai’d by whatever fuckin means, I’d like to congratulate you, as you now have earned a VERY FUCKING SCARY GUARD DOG.

The most normal about your attraction to her.

She’ll be honored that you love her, and shows it through ALWAYS crit damaging enemies and taking less health from her allies.

While in idle she’ll (like everyone else) will say a unofficial voiceline towards you, complimenting you and slightly hinting that she knows she’s a ‘video game character’

Another unofficial thing she’ll do while in idle is remove her blindfold and stare into your eyes lovingly YET respectfully.

When you get transferred into the game, it’s basically the same as acheron. But she’s more open and well normal about your relationship.

She’s slightly overprotective and possessive but that’s about it. She spends all her time by your side, weather it be in bed (get yo mind out the gutter) or IN bed (put it back in the gutter) or simply walking/exploring other planets.

She shows her love through..well everything. Acts of service, physical touch, gift giving, etc…

Overall not much to say here, she’s the most normal and a less scary (when not Mara-struck) acheron.

No one takes the lead, yall just switch leading roles every other day.

Kafka

Kafka is also very similar to black swan.

She immediately knows you love her, and she takes pride in it, after all who doesn’t? (Kafka’s the type to make gay men question themselves, as I myself can NOT attest to 😉)

Unlike her fellow…acolytes, she’s much more suave and blunt about her knowledge on your attraction. After all, your so adorable and cute for the god of gods (or as I like to refer to the reader who’s a god in self aware au—THE OMNI AEON)

In idle, she pulls out a blurry photo of your and kisses it while staring right at you. It’s blurry to you but VERY visible to kafka.

She’s also the only person in this who’ll outright state she knows she’s in a game and loves you (like sues in that one episode of gravity falls with his A.I yandere love)

Overall there’s nothing else to add here, she’s just another black swan when it comes to this scenario. OH wait no!

She uses her webs to manipulate you to dance gracefully with her and makes you touch her body while feigning innocence and teasing you.

She takes the lead in the relationship.

Sho leaned against the side of his food truck, a smirk playing on his lips as he held up a small box of chocolates between his fingers. The air around Darkwick Academy buzzed with post-Valentine’s energy—couples walking hand in hand, students giggling while exchanging gifts, the occasional flurry of pink and red confetti still lingering in the air. But Sho? He was drowning in chocolate.

"Yeah, these are all the chocolates I got. No idea how I'm gonna get through them all..." he mused, eyes glinting with something unreadable. Then, without missing a beat, he tilted his head slightly, his piercing blue eyes settling on you. "So? You didn’t get me anything?"

You huffed, crossing your arms. "Since when do you care about getting chocolates? You don't even like sweets."

Sho clicked his tongue, pushing off the truck with an easy grace. He was still in that ridiculously fancy crimson suit, the gold embroidery catching the light as he moved. "It’s not about liking sweets. It’s about effort, y'know?"

You sighed, glancing away. The truth was, you'd thought about it—about what kind of gift would suit Sho, about what might actually make him smile. But the thought of standing among the swarm of admirers, of adding to the mountain of gifts he already had, made your stomach twist.

Sho watched you carefully, his usual smirk softening into something different. "Lemme guess. You didn’t want to be just another girl giving me chocolates?"

You opened your mouth, then closed it. He was right. Of course he was.

He chuckled, running a hand through his hair. "Figured. You overthink stuff too much."

Your breath hitched. The way he was looking at you now—like you were the only person in the entire academy—made your heart stutter in your chest. Sho might have been cocky, arrogant even, but there was an undeniable sincerity beneath all that bravado.

Without a word, you reached into your bag and pulled out a small box and pulled out a small, folded piece of parchment, carefully wrapped. "Here. It’s not chocolate, but... it’s something." The parchment wasn’t anything extravagant. Just something personal. You hesitated, then pressed it into his palm.

Sho raised an eyebrow. "A love letter?"

You felt your face heat up. "It's not—! Ugh, just read it later."

He laughed, tucking the note into the inner pocket of his jacket like it was the most precious thing in the world. "Fine, fine."

Sho unfolding the delicate packaging with surprising patience. Inside sat a neatly decorated, homemade cake. He stared at it for a moment before glancing up at you. "You made this?"

You nodded, suddenly feeling nervous. "Yeah. I know you don’t like sweets much, but I figured something homemade might be better than—"

Before you could finish, Sho placed the box aside and pulled out a dessert fork. He didn’t touch the pile of chocolates the other students had given him. Instead, he scooped a bite from your cake first, taking his time as he tasted it.

A slow smirk spread across his lips. "Not bad."

You exhaled, rolling your eyes. "Gee, thanks."

Then, without warning, he scooped another bite and held the dessert fork out to you. "Here."

Your eyes widened. "What—?"

"You made it. You should taste it too, right?" His voice was teasing, but the warmth in his eyes made your heart flutter.

You hesitated for only a second before leaning forward and taking the bite. The sweetness of the cake mixed with the undeniable tension lingering between you. When you pulled back, Sho was watching you, his smirk deepening.

"See? Not bad at all."

You groaned, covering your face. "You’re the worst."

"Nah." Sho chuckled, finally setting the spoon down. "I'm just making sure you remember who your number one taste tester is."

The silence stretched between you, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. If anything, it buzzed with an unspoken understanding. Finally, Sho glanced back at his food truck and exhaled. "C'mon. Since you didn't get me chocolate, you can help me get rid of all these."

You rolled your eyes but followed him anyway, stepping into the warm glow of the truck. The smell of grilled meat and fresh spices filled the air as Sho pulled out a couple of plates. He slid one toward you and, just before taking a bite, smirked.

"Y'know, you didn’t have to get me anything fancy. Just being here’s enough."

You scoffed, but your heart swelled just a little.

Maybe you didn’t need chocolates to tell him how you felt. Maybe this—being here, sharing a meal, exchanging unspoken words—was more than enough.

Sho rolled his eyes but reached over the counter, fingers lightly brushing against yours. "It made me think."

You raised an eyebrow. "About?"

He leaned forward, so close that you could see the flecks of silver in his blue eyes. "About how I should probably do something about us."

Your breath caught in your throat. "Sho—"

He grinned, pulling back just before your heart could completely give out. "But not yet. Gotta keep you on your toes, right?"

You groaned. "You're impossible."

"Nah." Sho tossed you a drink, his smirk widening. "I'm just patient."

The food truck remained open late into the night, the two of you lost in playful banter, lingering touches, and the promise of something more just waiting on the horizon.

okay so hear me out when i say he seems like the type to take you to places with the prettiest views (shout out to his birthday voiceline) whether it be views of the sunset, a flower field, an ocean or beach view... as long as it's a pretty site to see, he'll take you there! scaramouche loves the way the places give him a peaceful feeling, and the way that it's just the two of you there? he's in paradise and heaven combined.

a bit similar to scara, tartaglia would take you to places. and by places i mean his homeland, snezhnaya, for the snow and to see his family. his little brother, teucer is certainly very fond of you, and tartaglia loves to watch you spend time with his siblings. he's such a family oriented guy... another thing he'd do is cook delicious meals for you! ranging from simple snacks to your personal favorites, and definitely some snezhnayan delicacies~

xiao is sweet to his lover, no doubt. but that doesn't mean he'll ignore his duties as an adeptus and focus on them. he expresses his love by protecting you... and maybe sharing his almond tofu. need his help? call out for him and he'll be there in an instant. also this whole love thing is very new to xiao, soo he's not used to things like hugging and kissing, yk those kinda stuff but he'll get used to it eventually. he does really like your company though, brings a smile to his face.

we all know albedo is a very amazing alchemist, he can make basically anything within a few hours or even minutes. he'd use his skill and powers to give you sentimental itemsㅡ such as a bouquet of flowers that never wither or ones that glow in your favorite color. If you don't really like flowers, don't worry, he can make whatever it is that you want! oh you want a dragon? he'll try and will come back to you with a small, cute, non-hostile looking one that protects you <3

he is sometimes busy due to work for the kamisato clan and being the "fixer" in inazuma, but he never forgets to make time for you! his love language is definitely quality time as he loves to just relax and accompany you wherever. another way thoma shows affection is through doing errands and other things for you such as cooking, cleaning around in your teapot realm, curing for your wounds if you ever get hurt, and maybe doing a commission or two of yours!

kaedehara kazuha... he's such a romantic man when it comes to his lover. he'll write you a poem literally every single day and compliment you every minute. kazuha also likes to run his hands through your hair as he whispers sweet nothings in your ear while you watch the sun set together at the best vantage point in wherever it is you're traveling at. he also definitely introduced you to his mom(beidou) so he takes you with him on the crux for fun adventures together! or just taking naps as the boat sets sail.

as the akademiya's scribe, alhaitham is often busy attending to those missions along with his personal investigations and other matters. so to prevent any lost time, he takes you with him. you're quite the strong fighter yourself so there won't be any problems, right? and if something bad does happen, he's your savior. despite talking sharply at times about how you weren't being careful or being reckless, he still loves you and will be happy that you're safe. alhaitham would reassure you about that too. also you study together at the akademiya library sometimes, he really likes having you around :3

cyno is a man of few words but reassures you about how much he loves you and would quite literally tear apart, limb from limb anyone that tries to harm you. cyno keeps a close eye on you especially when he senses danger is near, he wouldn't even wish for anything bad to happen to you. as the general mahamatra, fighting is practically his specialty which is why he uses that fighting experience and knowledge to protect you even if you tell him that you can handle yourself, he insists as he doesn't want to risk losing you like that.

Oh, this is a fabulous question, I'm going to have a fantastic time answering this, thank you!

First, I want to make clear though that this is just my opinion and my take on Fade's character. You're welcome to write her how you like and if you disagree with my headcanons, that's okay! You're welcome to form your own.

Now, for my answer.

I think when writing Fade it's important to keep in mind that her driving force is loyalty. Almost everything she does is in service to someone she cares about - usually him - and she will pursue this service even to her own detriment.

She blackmailed the Protocol even though they would probably have killed her if she failed, and when they offered to help her and gave her information on how to further her search, she joined them. She throws herself so hard into her work it makes her seriously unwell at times, such as when she got so distressed and sleep-deprived that Brimstone needed to send her on a wellness vacation to Vietnam to recover.

Through her voicelines and additional lore (such as the audio recording of Cypher interrogating her) we can glean that her manner of speaking is informal and "masc". She calls people "abi" in the same way one might say "dude" or "bro". She's friendly with her teammates, offering them coffee and encouragement (and we also know she has a network of friends in the Protocol, with Clove's D&D club for example). She's arrogant and clearly recognises her own skills, but on top of that, we also know that she's heavily depressive, angry, and fearful. She's terrified of losing him, but we know she's beginning to believe he might be dead from when they didn't find him in the Hourglass cells. "You live until you're forgotten, right?"

When I'm writing her I tend to write from the perspective of a woman who's deeply afraid, but not for herself. She sees very little value in her own life, at least when she isn't using her life to serve. She's self-sacrificing and too easily puts herself in harms way if she believes it will protect those she loves, and when she's struggling she isolates herself. From the Vietnam situation, we've seen it takes other people reaching out for her to get the help she needs when things are dire, and when she didn't find him in Hourglass, she was very clearly upset but didn't ask for help, instead kind of solidifying in her resolve to continue the search without giving up on him.

When things are good, I think she's a pretty loving person. A lot of people depict her as edgy all the time but I think that's doing her a disservice, personally. She's depressed and self-sacrificing and I think without help she could very easily fall into dangerous patterns (I imagine she uses smoking, drinking, hookups with strangers etc to cope with how bad she feels).

That said though, she's a good person. She's warm with her teammates and has a sense of humour with them. She can be optimistic in dire situations, too, although likely this is just to avoid accepting the reality of him possibly being dead. I think when she loves someone, she does it in a way that needs communication to work, because she could otherwise love them in a way that could be smothering or overly possessive, but when she doesn't need to be permanently afraid, she'd be a great person to be in love with.

I imagine that love as a concept is very hard for her, now. This is a hc, but I imagine that after the pain of losing him and how close it's come to killing her a number of times now, she'd be terrified of loving people again. I think she'd push people away long before ever accepting she wants them, and it would take a lot of time for her to believe she deserves to love another, especially if she's falling in love before saving him. Loving someone is distraction, it's attention spent off of the trail of hunting him, but it's also shockingly vulnerable. It's putting her heart on the chopping block and hoping her partner won't cut it.

ugh, I love her. Apologies for this really long answer - I really, really love both Fade and Neon and I have a LOT to say about them both, and how they work together. I really enjoyed answering this, thank you so much for the question and I hope this can help a little!

Scout unspoken character development.

So you remember how Scout was absolutely struggling to work out how to ask Pauling on a date, and didn’t have the confidence he needed to do it properly? In Expiration Date?

It makes sense that he’d struggle, because dating requires you to be more vulnerable emotionally and that’s like the last thing he ever wanted to do growing up. His brothers saw being emotional as a weakness, and he still thinks like that because those were his role models.

That’s why he didn’t help Spy with the last wishes. He’s still got that mentality that he’ll be seen as weak if he admits that dying in three days bothers him. But if he makes fun of Spy in front of the boys, Spy’ll be the one seen as weak, not him.

To date somebody, you have to admit that you’re attracted to them, if not in love. He can’t admit that part, which is why he tries to be causal about asking Pauling out.

Like, even when he can tell that he made Spy furious, the awkwardness of that emotional situation makes him try to laugh it off and stay casual, not give him pause.

How much you wanna bet that “I’m sorry”, usually said sarcastically or with fake sincerity is the best he’d get from any of his brothers growing up? No discussion beyond that about what the brother should be sorry for, just “I’m sorry” because Ma is making me apologize.

That’s why he just moved on with his request for help, instead of going into a deeper apology and acknowledging why Spy is upset. He doesn’t know how. He doesn’t know that you’re actually supposed to, and he’s not a weakling for feeling that way.

He can’t accept the weakness of being bad with women, even though that’s why he’s in the smoking room asking for advice. That’s why he lies about the ratchet girl at the chicken place, who probably never existed.

What’s interesting is that the only thing he retained from his dad’s training was the dancing, which is an expression of emotions. He started out doing a casual, cheery boomer dance that doesn’t require a partner, with no risk of hurting somebody else if you mess up. But we know that music is something he loves, to the point that he hopes his favorite musician is secretly his dad.

But that’s not the only important development he makes in this short.

Scout doesn’t know how to respond to that, because if he ever tried to bring up what one of his siblings did to make him upset, they’d just laugh at him or say “I said sorry, what else do you want?”. But he cares about this woman and how she feels, so when she brings up what he did to make him say more than sorry, he can’t just move past it like he normally does.

He got so close to spitting it out! But what we did get is good progress, because he had to be more honest than usual. If she was paying even the slightest bit of attention to him, she’d be able to see what he’s trying to say.

He’s trying so hard, she doesn’t even know. I hope that someday he finds a girl that does like him, because she sure as heck doesn’t.

What’s interesting is that we have voicelines that imply he’s getting less uncomfortable flirting, even if it’s in his usual Scout way.

He didn’t act ready to take his shirt off around her in Expiration Date. That’s Scout getting more comfortable around her. So is him playing her dorky board game that his brother’s would clown him for looking at.

You have to remember, Scout is the youngest and considered the runt of the litter by his stupid siblings. He acts like he likes the way his arms look in Meet the Scout and talking to Spy in the smoking room, but he’s always comparing himself to other guys. He wouldn’t take that shirt off around most people, is what I’m saying.

I hope someday Scout goes through the character development he needs to find a real girlfriend that likes him. [And also not rely on physique as a tool for flirting].

anyways kaveh in his voiceline about cyno says that he needs a beer before cyno's jokes but that means he DOES like them sometimes

3) the fact that cyno had a bad impression of alhaitham pre-AQ bc he only knew of alhaitham from hearing kaveh rant to tighnari & collei about his insufferable roommate (& maybe seeing their message board debates)

& being the sweetheart that he is, he's going into this thinking

"that's him. that's the man who stole the show from my carefully planned jokes at dinner the other night by being terribly annoying to kaveh. apparently he doesn't put away his books??? which is a serious trip hazard actually. i'm on my guard 👁️👁️"

and then in classic alhaitham fashion, alhaitham makes a horrid first impression (he would rather make zero impression at all, thank you)

like of course cyno & alhaitham are naturally suspicious of each other bc of their akademiya affiliations but like STILL

it brings me much joy to know that before they became genuine friends (going from "nodding at each other in passing on the street" to "we always go to the tavern to celebrate" 🥺)...

cyno was primed to dislike alhaitham bc "you seem to upset kaveh??? so i dont think i like you"

i think cyno listened to kaveh rant about alhaitham's latest injustices (he took kaveh's favorite house slippers) and took them very seriously

look at how upset kaveh is when recounting them!! clearly kaveh is truly upset & this alhaitham fellow must be a real problem

like at that point i dont think kaveh & cyno were all that close? they met through tighnari but kaveh was pretty busy before finishing the palace & afterwards he managed to keep his bankruptcy a secret from cyno

but still cyno was already kinda protective of kaveh & his feelings

4) basically i think its amazing that if you cross kaveh, not only do you have kaveh's temper to worry about

5) tl;dr is kaveh & cyno are both extremely earnest people who are very intense about their chosen professions and have very strong hyperfixes/hobbies

@karmablacks I'm technically studying law so I got too defense brained thinking about this :/ right anyway. When accusing someone of murder you must consider, did they have the means? The motive? The opportunity? Of the five persons of interest MC finds listed, I think all of them made that short list because they have the means to have committed a murder. That leaves motive and opportunity, which leads me to be comfortable excluding Alan, wanting more information on Jiro, Towa, and Ed, and ambivalent about Rui.

Excluding Alan

Alan specifically says he thinks that he killed Dante during the Clash, unless Dante was the victim of the One Eyed Sleeping Beauty Murder (which I will henceforth be abbreviating as OES murder because fuck typing all that) then I see no reason he would not have said as much during Episodes 2 and 5. If he started the Clash then I think that would factor into his guilt and weigh on him immensely, it would be something he thinks about regularly. Dante does not only have one eye, he's got four and we know from Haku that multiple people went past the point of no return during the Clash. We are looking at a murder that specifically started a war, not one that resulted from it.

Profile Jiro

We know the least about him out of everyone on the list, but there is just enough to understand why he's there. He was in a coma for a very long time and still hasn't healed, if he is on the suspect list presumably he was not in a coma during the murder but might have entered it after. His combat skills are good enough to protect Yuri who has none, he has multiple wounds on his body that aren't closing, and he outright refuses to spar with Luca on the basis of it being a "bad idea." I am very comfortable with him having the means to commit a murder, the question is whether or not he would have seen it as a murder. One of his first voicelines is about "giving them death because that is what they wanted." If he did kill our victim, there is a chance it was a mercy kill that other parties disagreed on, hence the Clash.

Also did you catch the bloody gloves he's holding in the teaser? I did, it made me wonder if we will learn more about the murder in the next Episode.

Profile Towa

He would have been a first year during the Clash, meaning that while he might not be new to life he was new to Darkwick and we have all seen how he acts towards new people he doesn't like. Haru felt the need to tell him not to use lightning underwater, he's not exactly the most familiar with how to treat things gently and with care. Sure, Towa is currently interested in romance and love, but Ed accuses him of not always being that way and refusing to see anything weaker than him as having value. We don't know why that changed, and until we do he remains someone who wouldn't necessarily need a specific motive for murder and has the powers to kill someone. The main problem with Towa is that if he was the person who murdered the victim, his method would be very easy to identify. He controls the weather and likes poisonous flowers, we need to know how the victim died before we can determine how strong or weak of a suspect Towa is.

Profile Ed

This bitch has been technically undead for 400 + slutty slutty years, and the one time he stopped watching tiddy streamers to help Rui with a mission he leveled an entire building. Chances are pretty good he's killed someone before and wouldn't have a problem doing it again. This is where we look at motive and opportunity, Ed is really only ever active at night and claims he cannot go out into the sun. Was our victim murdered during the day? Then that makes it less likely to be Ed. There is technically a difference between just killing someone and murdering them, murder implies a degree of intent. You wanted that person to be dead, who would Ed have enough of a vendetta against to actually want dead? And was our victim someone who would fit that description?

Ambivalence about Rui

Rui kills people by touching them and draining their life force. Based off of what we see he does to Ed and the butterfly on the homescreen, it looks like this causes them to disintegrate. While I have no doubt that Rui has killed people on accident before, is this case really one where that's what could have happened? From what we have seen of him I don't think he is someone who would have the motive to murder someone. Means and opportunity sure, not motive. But again, as with Towa, how can he be under the same level of suspicion as the others if his would be method of murder is so specific? I could see him as the murderer if it was an accident, and it's one of the reasons he feels the need to repent. Which rounds out my thoughts and brings me to:

What I Want to Know

I want the name, year, and age of the victim, when they died (estimated), and the suspected cause of death. Also why is this murder called what it is, why did it cause the Clash, and most importantly:

What could have possibly happened to that body that your suspect list has such a wide variety of possible murder methods, or are Darkwick investigators just that dumb and afraid of ghouls that they immediately accused who they think are the five most dangerous (in no particular order) without taking any of that into account? And is that murder what Taiga, Tohma, and Alan all are talking about when they say there is a spy intent on making the ghouls look bad?

It's something that I want to do a full write-up on after I finish more more quests (most especially Baizhu's) but I just want to put it out there that I am constantly amazed, as a chronic-illness haver myself, how many characters in Genshin Impact have chronic illnesses, how visible they are, and how well represented they are.

Like, it's extremely difficult to find even one character in a piece of fiction that has a chronic illness (let alone one where it isn't played for laughs, OR otherwise it completely destroys their life and they're fucking miserable, OR it's magically cured).

But Genshin? Dude you trip over a character with a chronic illness every five seconds, it feels like, and I fucking love that. Off the top of my head there's:

Anna (Mondstat), who visibly suffers from her illness and we know her brother struggles to pay for her medicine. But the traveler, through a series of quests, helps them get ahold of an affordable medication to manage (MANAGE, not cure) the illness and to return her quality of life to her.

Little Hongdou (Liyue) - who has an unspecified chronic illness. And she just does. But she's out and about and seems very happy.

Collei (Sumeru, playable) - and sure her illness is fixed by the end of the Sumeru quest, but I don't even care because of how well it's represented. She has hopes, ambitions, dreams. She participates in her work as a forest ranger even though we get visible confirmation that her illness is progressing. The people around her care and are compassionate, and do their best to make sure she takes care of herself, but she is also allowed to just...go out? and do things?? This shouldn't be such a tall order but chronic illness-havers with friends and family members who understand that, hey there are good days and there are bad days -- that's rare in fiction (and IRL for that matter).

Dunyarzad (Sumeru) - her chronic illness is a major plot-driver in an entire fucking archon quest. She has a huge amount of influence on the people around her, and her chronic illness is actually part of the whole reason we even are able to help Nahida in the first place. Her chronic illness is what makes her instrumental to the plot, but it also isn't the only thing about her, and I love that.

Dulphy (Fontaine) - an actress from Furina's story quest. What really struck me about Dulphy is how the people around her interact with her. I was half in tears by the end of the quest -- not even for Furina reasons (yes, that too), but because I was so touched by the fact that a game gave us a character who was unable to follow through with something she said she was going to do (finish her closing performance as the lead actress in a musical), and that was okay. Like, yeah, the people around her were upset -- but they were upset because she hadn't taken great care of herself and had pushed herself past her spoon limit! Nobody (including the narrative itself) treated it as a great failure when she had to call it quits on her performance. Rather, that was treated as a good thing, and they went so far as to explicitly state that her performance up to that point mattered, and that it was a meaningful contribution, even though she couldn't finish. And that just fucking got me, man. Also - again, this is a character where it is explicitly stated "this is a chronic illness. It has good days and bad days and it can only be managed, not cured. And if she pushes herself too hard then she'll need several days to recover." And that's just...part of who she is.

And, of course, Baizhu. (Liyue, playable) My beloved, my blorbo. His chronic illness(es) is an extremely visible part of his character - referenced in his voicelines, his idles, his interactions in quests, the imaginarium theater, and even your teapot house, and his emojis. Hell, he even coughs if you sprint too much with him. Nevertheless, he's arguably one of the strongest healer units in the game from a meta perspective, and from a story perspective he is immensely successful, insanely compassionate, and while he isn't necessarily super kind to himself about it, the people around him are. His chronic illness is part of him, but he is still allowed to inhabit a story where he's the most renowned and beloved doctor in his entire country & just...is an awesome, active person in general, and that means so much to me.

Just. God. I legitimately can't think of another piece of fiction where I have seen myself represented over and over and over again everywhere I look, let alone so kindly. It's genuinely so moving to have so many characters be so visibly chronically ill, and for that to just be part of their character. A neutral thing about them. And to have it be okay when they can't finish things -- even though they said they would, okay when they need to rest, okay when they have to take a break or extra care with themselves. And not just one but so many. I'm sure I'm forgetting some to boot.

(Honorable mention: Qiqi. Like sure she's a zombie but hear me out: visible chronic joint and memory issues, which is something I also deal with and it's just so refreshing to see a character who deals with them, too -- and who has so many people around her who are so kind about it).

hey, listen! this is a rant post about neurodivergent characters in Genshin and my frustration with the fandom's reading comprehension skills. if you're in a bad place or just don't like angry rants, please don't force yourself and go read something else instead. <3

Okay, so, I watched this video recently, and let's just say, I have some thoughts.

This isn't just a Xiao problem- the entire fandom is terrible at characterization. The example that makes me the most angry is the mischaracterization of neurodivergent characters.

Take Alhaitham for example. He's often seen as rude and narcissistic by the fandom- which is especially apparent in Haikaveh content, where people portray him as straight up abusive.

You wanna know why this makes me so mad? The supposedly narcissistic and rude traits Alhaitham has are actually just exaggerated symptoms of autism.

Like, come ON, people. Don't skip dialogue. Better yet, go read through his story quest again. He straight up tells someone who sees him as narcissistic that he doesn't see others as less than himself. Also, his voicelines basically confirm this- he's extremely socially inept and he doesn't care. He has difficulty showing emotions as readily as his peers- that doesn't mean he doesn't have them, just that he expresses them differently. He comes across as rude because he doesn't get that people don't like to hear what they're doing wrong, and he probably doesn't care because that's not his problem. If people don't like how blunt he is, that's their problem. At least, that's how I think he views the world.

And like, there are SO many hints that he's autistic. He wears sound-blocking earpieces, for crying out loud. Hell, the ENTIRE REASON why he helped out during the Archon quest was because he didn't want his life to change too much. Preferring routine is an autistic trait.

And the worst part is, when I talk about this outside of neurodivergent groups, people tell me I'm wrong and that he couldn't be autistic DESPITE THOSE PEOPLE NOT BEING AUTISTIC THEMSELVES.

And I'm not saying that every autistic person relates to Alhaitham, but I certainly do. And I'm actually quite friendly because I'm anxious about being rejected. Alhaitham isn't, and I'm so jealous of him for that. He's living his best life.

Finally, back to the Haikaveh thing... Alhaitham isn't abusive. He doesn't say horrible things to Kaveh, and the one example of him doing that I could find, he immediately backtracked and subtly tried to make Kaveh feel better. Hell, Alhaitham doesn't even actually care about making sure Kaveh pays rent. He says it as a joke, but because he's autistic and his tone of voice doesn't give that away as well, he's portrayed as abusive and misunderstood as narcissistic. Y'all just don't like neurodivergent people and it shows.

Yes, neurodivergent includes Xiao. PTSD is often viewed as a form of neurodivergency, and there are many MANY characters in Genshin that have PTSD or some other form of neurodivergence. Yet people refuse to see them as such and mischaracterize them as "edgy," "narcissistic," "unapproachable," "weird," and the like. Yet none of these characters are any of those things.

You wanna know the true narcissists? The true edgelords? The actually rude people? Might I direct your attention to Scaramouche, Childe, and Dottore, whom everyone makes out to be as misunderstood pathetic little meow meows that need love.

Reminder that only two of those three are actually redeemable, and one is STILL an edgelord who is more rude than Alhaitham could ever be, while the other is a certified insane person with a weird set of morals.

(Side note: I love Scaramouche and Childe as characters. I'm just tired of people acting like they aren't worse than the autistic characters. Scaramouche is extremely rude, but he's trying to be better as Wanderer thanks to Nahida's help. He has severe PTSD, and Childe does, too. But both of them are actually messed up and have done horrible things, yet people portray them as better and more in need of love than the characters with unlikable (read: neurodivergent) traits.)

Don't even get me started on how people portray Kokomi, Sucrose, Fischl, Diluc, Zhongli, Cyno, Furina, Neuvillette, and Albedo. Especially that last one- I WILL get mad if one more person tries to tell me he's just emotionless and rude.

Also, if anyone is wondering where I've seen people misunderstanding these characters, it's mostly on Hoyolab site discussions. There's one too many posts talking about how "rude" and "annoying" these characters are.

With Alhaitham especially, I see many people writing him as abusive in Haikaveh content. I see people arguing about the ship being toxic because Alhaitham is "abusive," "unfeeling," and "cruel." Even people who like the ship portray him as such. And I've seen too many people comparing him to Dr. Ratio, who is literally just a narcissist who views others as beneath him. Don't get me wrong, I understand the comparison. It's just... very obvious that people skipped dialogue during Genshin's Archon and story quests.

And it's frustrating because I've been misunderstood in the exact same way. I've been called "rude," "annoying," and "unfeeling" in the past and it's screwed me up. Seeing people do the same thing to a character I so deeply relate to makes me lose confidence in both myself and people around me.

If that's how you view a fictional character with autistic traits, how do you treat real people with the same traits?

Genshin Archon Quest 5.3

I've heard that I'm not the only one a little disappointed with the last Archon Quest of Natlan, still I felt like making a list of things that disappointed or annoyed me. This is purely for me to ramble a bit, and my own opinion and probably a bit of stupidity or skill issue. Anyway, I'd love to hear other peoples opinions, just please don't be mean (I'm new to tumblr, I don't know how people are here). And to make up for it I will make a list of things that I liked :].

We did not get any explanations (from Mavuika or someone else) for... - the Core of Gosoythoth (the one Mavuika destroyed before the fight). What is it really? Is it just an Abyssal Tumor? Mavuika only said it's similar to those. I kinda wanted to see it... - How Chuychu and the Saurian souls were able to go further than the other souls (Bona, Cocouik, Mallko, Vichama, Guthred). (My explanation is that only few souls could go that far. Similar to how Natlanese couldn't leave Natlan, because Lord of The Night just can't protect them there very well.) - Gosoythoth and why it suddenly turned into the Lord of Eroded Primal Flame (Xiuhcoatl). I have read the description of the weekly boss now and understand it, but I would have liked to hear it from Mavuika or whoever during the quest. - Also the voices/ voicelines of the former Pyro Archons during the fight were completely ignored. Being right in the middle of everything and having to focus on the fight I didn't understand shit. Like why can we hear them? What are they saying?? I'm assuming Gosoythoth just used their voices against us, to confuse us or whatever, the same way it mimicked Xiuhcoatl. - We also never talked about why we got our pyro powers so late. I'm guessing that Lord of The Night had to give them to us herself, and she just choose that moment? But I honestly don't know. Would explain why we didn't get them at the start, 'cause LOTN was asleep at that time. Or we had to awaken them ourselves? - Also can someone tell me when Mavuika and Xbalanque met??? I don't remember that? I haven't done Mavuikas Story quest yet, but I spoilered myself a little (because youtube), but the Archon Quest takes place before her quest anyway, so when?? Or was was that just a mistranslation/ typo?

During the fight against Gosoythoth I was so confused. I honestly didn't even notice that we died, and then suddenly we were back in Mavuikas POV on her journey? The text that appears on the screen that kind of explains stuff is also gone way too quickly for me to read. So I was like, what? Why are we not fighting anymore? Help.

I'm kinda sad that we never went to the Collective of Plenty during the Archon Quest. We also never went to the Masters of The Night-Wind tribe, but they were on the way to the Flower-Feather Clan and it came out before the end of the Archon Quest. And we at least had Iktomisaurs to help out in the Night Kingdom, but we still haven't seen a single Tatankasaurus! I'm just a little impatient and very curious... I'm guessing it may have to do with their abilities, as in they just aren't that useful during the quest? Idk.

The hints of Xilonen slowly dying for forging our Ancient Name also were never mentioned again. Like is she okay?? Should I be worried? Feel bad? cry

I know the quest wasn't done yet, but they could have given me another moment in Ochkanatlan to look at Capitano. It just looks so cool, and I wanted to know where exactly he is sitting. I just didn't know if he'd still be there after the quest. But they just teleported me away... (This is really minor, but I wanted to mention it anyway.)

Talking about Capitano I also would have loved to see his face. I kinda get why they hide it, and I also may not necessarly want to see his rotting face, but at least his face from 500 years ago? I just wanna seeee...

Last but not least, I want my crown back. Please. Honor to Capitano and the other 1977 fallen warriors, but please give me back my crown. First I left it at the monument for the warriors and now it's stolen!! It's literally gone. Who stole my crown?! I don't know if it's a glitch or something, but it's literally not there anymore...

The whole thing of missing explanations I could kinda piece together or think of something that could make sense myself, but to me some of it is still unanswered. I have so many more questions Mavuika, talk to me!

Again it's all my opinion, and most of it really isn't that important, but I felt like talking about it. Not that many people will see this post anyway.

All in all I have to say though I enjoyed the quest, especially the ending. We love.

now this looks like hell to solve but i'm low-key considering getting a milk puzzle cus of him...

crack hc time: dari drinks a cup of milk every night before he goes to eep. i'd say he dips a few cookies in it too. but he doesn't like dry food such as biscuits... altho maybe it'd be bearable to eat since they'd be more soaked?

on his card it says that he likes food that's difficult to make or obtain. and in the recent jp event, he's stated that one of his favourite food is mille feuille glacé.

on the other hand, we also find out somewhat why he doesn't like potatoes: apparently he's eaten them so much (in his past presumably) that he's sick of them, and never wants to eat them again. yes he literally says this.

which leads me to my very self indulgent theories about his past. it's pretty clear he comes from a well-to-do family, such as he knows proper table manners (but purposefully ignores it), wears luxurious clothes, choice of weapon, had his birthday celebrated a great many times etc.

perhaps there was a figure who forced him to do things, such as eating potatoes (there'd be no reason for him to force himself to eat it unless there was nothing else left to eat) and confining to the rules of nobility. so maybe eating messily is his way of rebelling and showing he has more control over his life now?

he's clearly a two faced character. even if someone hadn't played ikevil, you could tell there's something fake and off-putting about him, his actions, the way he speaks. especially his voice.

there's often themes or analogies to a child made in his content when it comes to his behaviour. ex: pouting, tilting his head, resting his chin on a hand, pinching kate's cheeks, drooped head and shoulders when he's 'sad'.

like a child, he does things on a whim, simply because he wants to for his own pleasure. he doesn't care much for other's opinions.

quite a few times, you'll notice "rewards for good children" and "punishments for the bad ones" being brought up in his bond stories, voicelines, events, etc. I'm not sure if this will be lost in translation when it comes to EN server or if they'll go a different direction with it. again i feel like this all comes back to his past with his family.

he's lowkey giving yandere vibes like elbie and ellis too. has jokingly mentioned about wanting to send kate to germany on a couple occasion but bro, i don't think it's a joke anymore.

in regards to the way he keeps labelling non cursed people as "humans"... i think it could be because he's very alienated or distant with his own emotions. he's not able to put a name to the feelings kate makes him feel. warmth, compassion, love, so rawly human. he constantly speaks about humanity as a whole, as if he's excluded from the rest, as if he's not one of them.
