Really showcasing how despite his scary demeanor, Messmer is a very warm and good person that trusts and cherishes those from different walks of life, from a cursed Albinauric to a literal Carian princess. The whole war criminal thing was a role he assumed for his mother’s sake, and he was a kinda shitty war criminal at that, by being terribly kind (in a disciplined way, he still punished folks when necessary) and by preserving the Hornsent’s culture in his funky library tower (at the behest of his closest knights, but it was still his decision all the same). That’s just some of them. His mother gave him one singular purpose in the LoS—total Hornsent destruction—yet he took the time and sincere effort to do so many other things despite that. All those things are the real Messmer, and now that he’s free of his mother’s seal and the LoS, he can finally put to action the plans he’s been stewing over for a century.

I don’t think he ever gave up, ever stopped thinking of how to make things better for his men and now his people, feeling all of their anger and despair so deeply and wholly. Which is why he seems so exhausted all the time. You wonderfully genuine, woefully empathetic, hopelessly selfless man, you…

But don’t forget the body horror. We’ll get to the body horror. :>

I think a lot about Leo standing up for his brothers in the things that really matter to them.

Like- Leo is the one who immediately pushes Mikey and Donnie into finding Raph the second it’s clear that their oldest brother is missing because he knows Raph can’t handle being separated like that.

Leo is the one who stands up for Mikey when Mikey wants to go on a solo mission, actively vouching for him and being the one to convince Raph into letting Mikey go, because being independent and proving himself just as capable of standing on his own two feet as everyone else means so much to Mikey.

And Leo defends Donnie’s honor in particular when his brothers’ intelligence is insulted because Leo is well aware of how important Donnie’s smarts are to him - and how important having those smarts valued and acknowledged is as well.

All this goes right into just how well Leo knows his brothers. For as much as he’ll tease or fight with them, he knows them, and he loves them.

Zelda having a secret room for when she "needs to concentrate" carries with it the implication that it's Link that makes it difficult to concentrate, since they pretty clearly lived together between BOTW and TOTK.
