Statistics, Facts, and Opinions About Total Drama Eliminations (SPOILERRIFFIC)

Harold probably would’ve been eliminated in The Big Sleep had Eva not had her meltdown.

Noah and Trent were probably the only Island contestants to be voted off near unanimously.

There’s no way Cody didn’t vote for Trent in Not Quite Famous.

I love the implication that Katie was eliminated before Sadie solely because everyone says her name first.

Likewise, given that Beth wasn’t in the bottom two in Paintball Deer Hunter, Lindsay went against Heather to vote for either her or Cody. Additionally, Trent (and Gwen, but that’s beside the point) had to have mercy-voted for Cody.

Izzy probably would’ve been voted off regardless of what happened in Up the Creek.

Many people assume Tyler was eliminated due to his comparative weakness in challenges prior, but more likely Duncan just stopped the others from voting Courtney.

Beth’s elimination makes more sense when you remember all her teammates are either superstitious, actively hate her, are at risk for elimination, or Leshawna.

Bridgette, despite being Courtney’s best friend, seemed oddly blasé over her elimination. Given that they’re still friends as late as Hawaiian Style, I think the writers/animators just forgot.

Either Harold, Courtney, and Sadie were in the bottom two in every ceremony they attended before their back-to-back eliminations.

We never find out who Trent voted for in Search and Do Not Destroy. I think the wiki claimed it was Owen, but it was probably Lindsay, who poisoned him a few episodes back.

On that note, I find it hard to believe that they couldn’t think of a better way to eliminate Lindsay, given that she wasn’t exactly popular with the other campers until after this episode. They could’ve easily just voted her out to remove Heather’s one ally. Action rectified this to a degree, since Duncan is constantly being targeted for this exact reason.

Speaking of Duncan, it rubs me the wrong way that he got the Guys Alliance to eliminate Bridgette, Geoff’s girlfriend, when his own girlfriend got eliminated only a week earlier (maybe he thinks he was lying about not voting Courtney). I elect to believe Geoff didn’t vote her off and that Izzy (who stops working with Heather around this point) just betrayed her own alliance to spare Owen.

I heard theories saying Geoff voted himself out in the triathlon episode due to not having fun anymore. Doesn’t explain why Gwen was in the bottom two, though.

Why wasn’t Leshawna eliminated in Camp Castaways instead of Haute Camp-ture? If they agreed to vote Geoff, they probably could’ve done so here. Although, given the events that happened two episodes ago, Duncan might not’ve gone for it.

Mr. Coconut was the first case of a camper being fired from their role, before Owen, Sierra, and Max later on. Granted, he wasn’t a competitor to begin with.

Building on that, we never find out why Geoff and Bridgette voted for Leshawna in Alien Resur-eggtion.

If Izzy was allowed to return because E-Scope was the one eliminated in her place, could Mike continuously dodge elimination by having his alters take his place and swimming back to camp each time?

The Lame-o-zine is the only exit Izzy has ever been seen using, the Boat of Losers is the most used, and Flush of Shame is the least used, beating out the Hurl, Cannon, and Drone due to Duncan’s arrest. The Drone of Despair’s naming structure is a remnant of how the Island/Action exits’ naming schemes, “of Shame” referring to how one gets there. World Tour blurs the difference by only having the Drop of Shame without a true elimination exit, and all further seasons of the original run followed suit.

Owen’s first elimination was technically fair, since it’s his team’s own fault for wasting their votes on an immune Courtney, but he probably should’ve been medically evacuated beforehand anyway. Cody too, for that matter.

I don’t think the Grips fairly won a single elimination challenge.

Beth would’ve beat Duncan by a landslide had everyone actually gotten to vote, although I really don’t think either should’ve won Action.

Izzy’s vote for herself to win was never actually declared invalid.

Up until Scary Girl’s elimination, Harold in Super Happy Crazy Fun Time Japan was the only character to try to vote themself off and fail to do so.

Had Chris stuck to the singing rule, Heather would’ve won anyway.

Had Izzy not returned last season, all three teams would’ve had their lowest ranking members achieve that on multiple teams.

DJ probably sets the record for most consecutive times on the chopping block.

Contrary to popular belief, Alejandro is only tangentially related to Tyler’s elimination. He presumably voted for Owen.

Blaineley was wasted potential, especially since they could’ve brought back a fan favorite in her role, although that’s mostly because the merge was so egregiously late in the season.

Staci’s elimination is unfair for the exact same reasons as Noah’s.

As we all know, Anne Maria never cast or received a vote during her tenure as a contestant.

There are two very different ways to interpret how Scott was eliminated, but what’s certain is that Zoey voted for him.

Cameron’s the closest thing we have to a canon winner, assuming Priya’s ending isn’t the only one for her season.

Lindsay clearly chose to vote herself off and you’re dumber than everyone in All-Stars combined if you think otherwise.

Chris was probably intending for Mal to get voted off in Moon Madness when he made their loser move to the Villainous Vultures.

Alejandro’s been voted off three times despite only getting eliminated once.

In spite of everything that happened in Sundae Muddy Sundae, Gwen still didn’t vote Courtney out, and I respect that.

Gwen, Cameron, Heather, y Alejandro technically reached the finale twice each.

Zoey is the first character since Island to be a finalist but not speak in every episode of the season, having remained silent in Food Fright. Likewise, Mike is the only finalist in the main series to not appear in every non-Aftermath episode of his season, not appearing in Zeek and Ye Shall Find.

It’s unclear if Leonard helped vote for Ella in I Love You Grease Pig or not.

It’s equally unclear if Amy formally returned to the competition.

How Scarlett wound up on the chopping block is never explained, since it’s incredibly out of character for Rodney to vote for her. Maybe Sammy’s still salty about Scarlett ignoring her plight in the last episode.

Given that Dave got one more vote than Sky, courtesy of himself, Sugar (who was uncharacteristically sympathetic to Dave here), Max (who wouldn’t care about Dave’s elimination campaign) and Scarlett (out of pure pragmatism) voted for Sky.

Max was robbed, but given that he had dodged elimination once before, I can forgive it.

Caleb’s elimination is the first time the earliest boot is directly caused by the antagonist.

Like DJ before him, Ripper is on the chopping block every ceremony he attends before his elimination.

Scary finished 13th and was the 4th camper out. Because of course she was. Ironically, between her, Sierra, Anne Maria, and Max, she’s the only purple haired contestant whose elimination was entirely fair (key word being “entirely”). RR has a better track record with Stephanie, Ryan, and Lorenzo.

After Zee’s elimination, Chris owes Courtney and Tyler their revotes.

Aside from Priya and Ripper, one can assume Bowie voted for Millie in the eating challenge, seeing as he said some people were getting too comfortable and Millie had forfeited the challenge immediately.

I find it funny how more boys made the merge than girls, only for them to get eliminated all in a row with the sole exception of Bowie.

Chris’ reaction to Julia’s elimination makes me wonder how often he reads the votes before the ceremonies, seeing as he clearly set up the new tiebreaker rule specifically to screw Millie over.

This is so sweet and considerate! Thank you Eva, you gave me 5 so I’ll try to keep it to that # as well 💖🐰 off the top of my head:

🌷 The Stormlight Archive series, especially the second book, Words of Radiance. Stormlight is like 4 books + 2 novellas right now, and is projected to be 10 books and ???novellas eventually. And on top of that each main book is 1000+ pages and while you can read Stormlight on its own, most of the other books by the author, Brandon Sanderson, are part of this larger fictional universe called the cosmere. Each series takes place on a different planet, and if you are invested in the whole cosmere, there’s Easter egg references to other series in other series. So like! While I rec these books often, most people understandably don’t take me up on it wgshshh 🤭 Sanderson’s non-Stormlight books are all MUCH shorter but also much more flawed imo. Like I wouldn’t count him among my favorite authors were it not for Stormlight. anyway I’m a die hard fantasy fan so the length didn’t deter me, and I picked these up because a friend told me the world building in these books was genuinely unique instead of the typical very lazy maps composed of like. Fantasy Russia and its hostile mysterious neighbors Fantasy General East Asia and Fantasy Africa lol. and she was right! The world building is exquisite and refreshing and almost every character is canonically of color. They live in a society with an eye color based caste system and it’s.., so hard to sum up this massive series with four main characters and a ridiculous(ly fun) amount of plot lines, so I’ll cut this short and say 1) the first book, The Way of Kings, is highly expository but the ending is so so worth it, and if you enjoy the ending you’ll find merit in continuing with the series 2) Words of Radiance is my favorite book so far partially because I haven’t read the newest, Rhythm of War, yet, and also because it’s the book with the most scenes that solidified Kaladin Stormblessed (one of the main characters) as one of my favorites of all time. Another one of the best things about this series is how Brandon Sanderson portrays mental health in very natural ways, and it makes Kaladin’s growth so incredibly soothing to follow (I MEAN. He has low points that sometimes hit too close to home, but it makes you root for him harder) he really is just. Truly my definition of a hero, if we wanna get cheesy about it, and I had to pick one solid example. I love him so much this isn’t even the tip of the iceberg as to why 😭!

🌷Jane Eyre. Silly frivolous teenaged girl that I am this book swept me off my feet when I first read it and I condone every problematic aspect of it❤️ (I DONT ofc but like! I love drama and being played like a fiddle by narratives and the book delivered on both fronts! And it couldn’t have without its unsavory plot twist soooo 😙💖) (the hate this book and especially one specific character gets is funny to me just because like. Hate for the former (imo) usually stems from people taking the book too seriously while simultaneously missing the point (JE and du Maurier’s Rebecca (highly influenced by the former) are oft considered loose Bluebeard retellings for a reasonnnn!) and hate for the latter is usually just like. Warranted and then taken over the top like... he’s just a fake funny little man you guys :( and the book would’ve been boring if he wasn’t so twisted and out of touch and passionate ): not to mention I do personally in a mean ish way think it’s funny how for some people this character is one of the worst examples of men they can imagine. Like good for Them! I don’t want them to have lower standards for horribleness in people But also omg 🤭 it just reminds me of how... irony of all ironies, I’m semi frequently told I’m too harsh on real life men and then when I love twisted ones in books (for being funny and entertaining and good solid characters) I like. get the most interesting side eyes (whether figurative or literal) bwjswnhshe anyway I have nothing against Austen, I definitely enjoy her, but from what I’ve read so far, I prefer the Brontës a lot more... I need adventure! Show me horror show me rot etc etc❤️ also I’m. A stupid sucker so the fact that the book was Charlotte Brontë’s attempt to write a plain looking lady protagonist and to make her praiseworthy and virtuous and worthy of spellbinding romance makes me... 💗💓💕

🌷Keturah and Lord Death — Martine Leavitt. I haven’t seen it officially stated anywhere but to me it’s p clear this book is a retelling of/highly inspired by Godfather Death (the Grimm tale) Very simple, predictable but effective plot, and the characters are just. So much fun. From my url you can probably tell I love stories in which women (or anyone but you know. Death and the Maiden is its own trope for a reason) outsmart/face off against death. If they also k*ss, when done right, I think that’s swell as well.

🌷A Thousand Splendid Suns — Khalid Hosseini. By far the heaviest book I will mention in this ask, and I don’t rec it willy nilly for that and a few other reasons. It’s a forever fave to me because I read it at the exact right time in my life, where I was like... noticing a ton of things irl and things at home were tumultuous, and when I saw very similar things unfold in this book while I was being silenced and made to feel crazy by the adults around me, it meant so much to me to see reality as I was experiencing it in real time reflected back at me via this novel. The context of the story is wildly different from my own life and the stakes the characters face are far higher, and it is if I remember right mostly a novel about the horrors of war, which isn’t something I pretend to have any firsthand experience with, but! It was legitimately cathartic to read when I read it, and it especially meant a lot to me at the time that the author was a grown man. Not to mention how my mother is not and never has been a reader, and somehow the one and only book I ever managed to get her to read was this. Hilariously she got mad at me for only (“only”) reading depressing things (there’s... a grain of truth to that but she doesn’t need to know! 🤫) but also... she was hooked I could tell! (I got all tmi explaining this one gag I’m so sorry)

🌷A Slight Trick of the Mind — Mitch Cullin. Retirement-era Holmes! Holmes as an old man! A sad old man who keeps bees!! It’s the novel the movie Mr. Holmes was based off of (haven’t seen it yet) and I was not expecting it to get me all sentimental like it did 🤨😪 but anyway it’s like. A prolonged character study and explores some of the most interesting (to me, anyway) parts of Holmes that are only lightly touched upon in canon, like his occasionally huge follies when navigating his few close relationships and how he copes with them afterwards, his fatigue at the random injustice of the world, how he’s often mistaken both by characters that surround him and people irl as a man without feelings, etc etc. like there’s no Dr. Watson or Mrs. Hudson in this book, and the people he interacts with are almost entirely original characters, but as I listened to the audiobook it barely occurred to me to miss Watson and Hudson (I know! 😦) and the author’s original characters interacted with Holmes so believably that I sometimes forgot they weren’t ever Doyle’s. Def recommend to any flexible Holmes fan that’s not a total stickler for canon (though you don’t actually have to know much about Holmes to read this book and enjoy it! 🐝)

🌷Sleepless — Sarah Vaughn + Leila del Luca. I began with the longest book, so let me end with the shortest. It’s a 2 volume long graphic novel series and that it’s so short is the only long standing, legitimate complaint I have of it! Gorgeous art, really effectively written romance, a dark skinned girl who gets to be the proactive, lively protagonist and stunning, pined after love interest at the same time, a cast of characters that is majority of color, the perfect %-age of drama and angst etc etc. if you can find it via your library or online or smth, you can knock it out in one sitting and leave the experience eternally altered in the funnest way 👁👄👁

It’s been a day. Now it’s time to go through S4!

First off, a huge thank you and appreciation goes to skamsubita who translated an entire season in, like, a day and a half.

Brilliant. Fantastic. Amazing. Incredible.

It used to take me like 6 hours to do one translation homework in uni, so kudos to them.

Anyway, onto to what I loved about s4!

- Sana & Martino’s friendship! So pure, so well-developed from S2 when Sana blackmailed him into coming to the radio, so believable that they would be friends

- The continuation of the radio--In the og, a lot of the things they put in seemed to be used only as a one-time plot device to force characters together that were then immediately forgotten about once they had lost their usefulness. The radio is something the girls started to help Silvia and it’s something they’re still doing 2 years down the line

- The idea of the Greece trip as the main point of tension between Sana and the other girls, BCU. It makes total sense to me that Sana would feel left out. As someone who didn’t drink in high school and very rarely in college, I always felt a bit left out when it was all my friends wanted to do

- I had to laugh really hard when the Emma kissing someone bit of the trailer turned out to be Chicco greeting her xD we’re all complete idiots

- On that note, Chicco Rodi! The man, the myth, the legend, returned with actual lines and an idiotic plan to sublet a rental property to two feuding girl groups.

- When Malik talked to Sana through her door, when he helped her find mint, basically, any time he was on screen?

- The fact that the Eva kiss was not some weird contrived thing to make Sana jealous

- Filippo becoming the local spinster house where sad teens come to eat all his whipped cream and sulk together

- Federica telling Sana the truth, giving her character more depth--imagine how much guilt she’s been living with? Trying to make up for all these years?

- Silvia’s cat! We finally got to see her on screen.

- Luchino, band manager extraordinaire! “Now you only have 15 minutes!”

- The first prayer scene for Sana--the music took me straight back to 2010 but it was beautiful. Her hand-washing ritual, checking the direction on her phone, the awkward interruption bringing all the party noises back in full force

- Sana’s obsession with winning the Tricky Trap, the last bits in the credits where she takes it apart and finally wins by cheating, just like Malik told her

- the pool scene, where Malik turned around and they just stared at each other. It was so gorgeous as the camera pulled away to just watch them

- Her voice message to the girls had me in tears (okay, the last 6 episodes had me in tears) but seriously, so poignant and relatable and understandable and I don’t know how her friends didn’t want to immediately run over and hug her (okay, I get it but still)

- I really like the reunion! That’s how people are. They forgive you without explicitly saying it. They don’t show up and make a big gesture. They say, “are you coming?” and things are okay. Up to that point, they’d heard the message, they were all feeling bad and stupid but they couldn’t bring themselves to express it in a mature fashion yet ‘cause they’re teenagers and that’s what they do

- The boy squad basically telling Marti he was a complete idiot. God, what would he have done without them? Never talk to Nico again and be heartbroken forever? Nico crawling under the bed, the whole group listening at the door very obviously.

- Marti asking to throw the fisherman in the ocean. I laughed. So Marti.

- Rami being like, “what do you mean homophobic? I have a gay friend!” the fact that there was an actual backstory to Nico and Luai

- I really loved how the drama was realistic. Sana stopped herself from writing in the chat (finally! a character with some self-awareness). That the only thing she really did wrong was bringing back Fede and it was completely understandable why (though she should have just told Eva in the first place, but isn’t that the point)

- When Marti texted “babe” I was like, wtf marti would never, and then it was immediately revealed Filo had sent it lol

- The whole Silvia/Luchino thing at the end. I think they are the absolute cutest and I’m glad Silvia finally sees it and called him her boyfriend. The hug in the closet made me *heart eyes*

- We can’t not mention the Filippo/Elia conversation--”If you get lonely in your room...”

- I missed Ele, though! But I was real glad there was no incantava drama, and I’m happy that they’re happy together. I can’t believe I’m actually rooting for a noorhelm couple, but they might be the only ones

- Every time Sana and Nico talked by themselves. That Nico put his kickstand down so he could ask her about Luai, as if he wasn’t planning on leaving until she told him

There are so many more that I can’t write them all or I’d basically just be recapping the whole season. So we’ll leave it there for now.

I loved every minute we got to see Sana, that the girl squad wasn’t villainized and weren’t terrible human beings to their friend. The scene with Sana in the bathroom listening to the BCU girls was just heartbreaking, especially after everyone had just left her after the fight, sobbing by herself, hands shaking as she tried to wash off the blood.

I’m also REALLY glad this didn’t drop clip by clip. There were so many moments I thought to myself, if this had been dropped by itself, we would have spent days obsessing over this tiny thing that doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of the show or the plot. While that is part of the fun of this fandom, it can also be exhausting (especially going into a season most people are extremely critical of, with an actor half the fandom hates on principle and would take any opportunity to cut down for the tiniest thing done “wrong.”)

So yeah, I really enjoyed it, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a S5 because I know Besse wouldn’t screw us over. I trust him, which is a weird thing to say, but in terms of SKAM, he’s always delivered what I expected and what I wanted. Nothing too over-the-top, nothing that doesn’t make sense, nothing just for shock value, and I appreciate that more than he can possibly know.

...Just Why?!?

Like many people the Bold Type has been one of my favorite shows since it came out. The clothes, the characters, the setting, the new age story lines (Give or take) was amazing to me. They have supportive bosses! Girl love! and conflict that gets resolved rather then covered up to stew and stir till there is some big explosion. With that being said... I have not watched The Bold Type in a few episodes mostly because, I have been seeing the outcomes of each on social media and decided that I did not want to see it with my own eyes.

I’ll start with Jane

I’ll be honest Jane was never my favorite I loved her but, I always gravitated more towards Sutton and Kat. I absolutely loved he medical story line and how that played into her and Ryan’s relationship because, all of that does play into reasons why people stay with or leave someone. I know a lot of people were not happy when she stayed with Ryan but, I will say I know people who have been in similar situations and have ended up with that person and made it through on the other side together. Now obviously there was more to it than just cheating given that Jane was not told the truth from the start and it just pilled on. I really liked how their relationship ended I think it was a great moment for Jane and showed a lot of growth. Then BAM she’s falling for another guy, who is incredibly similar to Ryan. WHY!?! Now like I said I haven’t seen the episodes past the one where they’re snowed in so, I don’t for sure know whats happening with Jane right now because, of all the other crappy story lines people are (rightfully screaming about). Jane has so much potential as a character but, they bury her in her love life or give her this stool as the heroine of the show almost that I don’t think her character deserves because, they are not letting her breath outside of boy drama.

Now for Kat... What the actual hell?

at first I was excited to see Kat in a completely different circumstance than what we have seen. She comes from a place of privilege in the since of finances, she didn’t have to worry about rent or food or a pay check. So, to see someone who was such a force to be in a place where I myself am usually in and to see how she dealt with that was, inspiring to me, which I know sounds cheesy but, its true. Seeing her struggle with money was something I really needed to see because, everyone deals with it differently and Sutton or Jane’s out look on money is completely different than Kat’s. Though there could have been better ways then taking away her job.

I’ll admit I do not hate Eva’s character I do not agree with her choices as a character but, I don’t agree with all the choices the characters make in this show. And I apologize if it sounds like I’m making excuses for Eva (Ava?) that’s not what I’m trying to do. Had they introduced Eva as a rival turned possible ally, someone to butt heads with Kat in way that was beneficial to them both in being able to learn and grow from each other and come out of it with an educated look into the other side, I would have welcomed it with open arms but, they didn’t. Instead they made them have a relationship .2 seconds after introducing the fact that Eva was gay and basically her entire character as well. I have seen Aisha’s post and I gotta say I feel so bad for her, I know she loves this show and her character and it takes guts to stand up to a room full of people when you think something is wrong and, it is so wrong. The first half of season 4 was great for Kat in my opinion we got to see her sexuality become a more of a prominent role, as she came out as Bi-sexual, I thought that was a really great story line and bringing out a lot of the issues in the LGBTQ+ community when it comes to being bi-sexual. But, that just went away and now her she is sleeping with a powerful Conservative white women, why did they think that would be okay? Eva’s gay so she’s resolved of anything else negative about her? How do they expect them to take away actually important information from each other when in a few episodes they’ll probably break up and all of the interactions will be tainted by the fact she’s an Ex. Not to mentioned the Eva helps Kat get her job back story line WAS RIGHT THERE. also note I want to say thank you to the actor who plays Eva for siding with Aisha even though it could very well mean she is out of a job.

Now Sutton Brady- HUNTER

Sutton has been my favorite character from the beginning of the series, and her and Richard's relationship though troupe-y was very refreshing. Yes, they had their issues and arguments but, all couples have them. I would honestly be more concerned if they didn’t because, that would be incredibly unrealistic. But, Richard has been nothing but, supportive and Sutton has been able to grow and do what she loves - so why the fuck did they ever think it would be totally in character for Richard to just leave? and then for Sutton to say “I don’t know who I am without him” and then proceed to cheat? Have they been watching a different show this whole time? Sutton has always been her own person, has she become a bit more dependent yes, that’s what most people do that is a marriage it is someone you can Depend on for the rest of your life. It is work that should be done by both parties and we have seen that multiple times in their relationship.

I know that kids are a big deal, personally I have no clue how I feel about kids I kinda of go back and forth but, I’m also much younger than Sutton and not married or in a committed relationship. But, what bothers me so much about this story line is 1) No one talked about adoption of maybe an older kid-teen I feel like that option is rarely explored and we’ve Sutton doing amazing things with Oliver’s daughter. I know that, that is still a kid it is still a huge life style change but, it is still a possibility worth talking about. And then 2) they really just jumped from zero to sixty Richard just left and Sutton cheats. It puts them both in such a bad place and light and I realize these things happen but, why do we keep having to watch them happen all over again time after time. It is a tired and aggravating story line. There is no version of Richard’s character that this story makes sense in he has been a great person and a great partner so, I could understand him having to leave maybe for a night just to clear his head but, there is no way I see him not telling Sutton where he is and staying gone. And as for Sutton no matter how hurt she is I really don’t ever see her cheating, she was in a relationship with a cheater and she went out of her way to make sure it was made right. Not to mention we’ve seen a good amount of growth with her mother and I can understand how actually having a baby and then losing it could stir a lot of that up, kind of wash it away and set her back in her growth but, this is not only out of character its not entertaining in any form. I’ll be incredibly disappointed if the set them on a road to divorce right after they got married and were a great example of a working couple.

So I don’t what I’m going to do when/if the show comes back, maybe they were planing a way to get out of all these messes with the next few episodes they didn’t get to shoot. But, if this is the story lines they want to continue on they, it’ll just be another show that didn’t live up to its potential and another example of how shock value is ruining the industry.

Four seasons appreciation post

Okay, let’s try to write this post again. So, in the spirit of the event I will focus only on what made me fall head over heels in love with each season, but if anyone is curious about what I didn’t (yeah, even for S2!) my ask box is always open.

S1: The aesthetic, first of all. The setting. I mean, one of my favourite movies is “La Grande Bellezza” (The great beauty) and not for the plot or the acting, but for how magnificient Rome is in it.

And then, Eva’s warmth. Her forgiveness towards Martino, which doesn’t come from a lack of pride or self-confidence (as it happens too often in teen dramas) but rather from her growth as a person.

To us it might seem like the bare minum a decent person could do, but considering what Emma did when Martino didn’t even led her own that much... She could have gone for some sweet revenge, but she is much better than that.

And the trope it closes with is one of my favourites, the “I need to understand who I am, and to be whole on my own, before I can be with one” so by then I knew it had EVERYTHING to be one of my favourite shows.

S2: Gio seen by Martino. I LOVE so, so, so much when writers can make me change my mind on characters. I mean, it wasn’t like I thought that Giovanni was beyond redeption, but I wasn’t particularly fond of him and hated how he would gaslight Eva sometimes and be totally unable to find a balance between the time he spent with his friends and when he should focus 100% his girlfriend.

In S2, however... Woah. He’s the best friend one could ask for, attentive but never smothering. Accepting and loving.

And Nicotino. Nicotino had me at their first, immediate, connection. Some people believe they are better off as friends, but to me it’s exactly why they work so well: they are friends FIRST, and lovers second. They showed something you see so rarely in teen dramas: intimacy means more than rolling in the sheets, rutting against each other.

S3: Filippo seen by Eleonora. Just as it was for Giovanni, it feels like he’s different character! Her nurturing soul - she was so sweet with Silvia and Eva - and her quietness. Being both so strong as so fragile.

S4: My biggest wish for this season is that no drama from other characters (including Nicotino!) overshadows Sana and her journey. Her soft/sharp side comes out stronger than ever with Martino, so I hope we’ll get more that what we saw from the trailer. I am begging on my knees (I trust you, Ludo) that they won’t make Martino say that Italy is not racist (we totally are, but on the top of that so many are xenophobic as well, just ask people from Albania or Romania...) and that it’s up to her to educate others...

By the way, family is such a big part of Italian culture that I can’t wait for the interactions between the Allaguis.

If Eva and Justin Duarte Lived pt 1

It happened it again, that strange rustling in the forest. I hold my gym bag closer to my side as Taryn goes on about our teachers and what I missed during the day. Thanks to lacrosse practice, I had to miss her rehearsal for drama club. That's usually how it goes. Dad is supposed to pick us up but he's so busy commissioning some pieces for a collector.

Taryn always frowns and gets embarrassed when we tell people what our dad does. Nerd is how many people describe him but mom tells us to ignore them. She does calligraphy and has organic toiletries that many uppety women from our town love to splurge on. She spend all day making batches and selling them. Aside from the usual clients we also get some characters that come in that my mother ushers in to the back of her shop.

"I wish Vivienne would take me to one of her parties." Taryn mumbles, breaking me out of my reverie. I ask what she means and she rolls her eyes and tugs on my braids. Her hair almost identical to mine except she always has it down and naturally highlighted by mom's many concoctions. Honey's tones in her chestnut hair while mine is held back in a braid, has more reddish tones from being in the sun. Her skin highlighted by makeup while mine is always bare except for sunscreen and the stuff mom makes on my lips. "Jude, how can you be so clueless? Vivi has been going into the woods behind our house. She said she might take us one day." She squeals with excitement.

Vivi wasn't like Taryn and I, she was different. Growing up people would make comments and point out her eyes and ears. It once brought a lot of attention and we had to leave where we lived once in the middle of the night. Taryn doesnt remember but I do, I remember Vivi's eyes glowing in the dark as we talked to man with funny face and animal feet, his eyes glowed just like hers. For sometime we were home schooled in this new house we were walking to, near the forest. It wasnt until Vivi put her foot down and begged our parents to let us go to regular school that we finally got to hang around with normal people. Normal. That word felt so strange on my tongue, I tried not to say much. Especially in front of Vivi. That's all she wanted-to be like us. For her eyes to be a dull brown instead of a fiery amber with rounded ears instead of pointed ones. Sometimes she would change her features, in the way she could to look like us, human. But I would still know. After a while I kept my eyes open for others like her, and after a while I started to notice them and saw that I was watching. I clutched the crude hawthorn necklace mom made us wear. And Taryn hissed for me to put it away. I didn't and she grumbled the whole way home. I saw movement in the trees, the same tall lean figure, as pale as moonlight and just as dangerous. I gripped my bag and pushed on forward with Taryn loudly complaining of my rush when a boy with red hair steps out, surprising the both of us. Taryn doesn't see it at first but I do, that same inhuman way of movement and the laziness to his features. The same thing happens to Vivi when shes around iron for too long, but it feels different. its as if he were to lazy to put on a good show. He's smiles and introduces himself.

"Hello, I'm a friend of your sister Vivienne. Do you know if she's in?"

We're just down the road from our house, I can see it right down the path, through the the thicket of trees. I shake my head and don't answer. Trying to move around him but he's too fast. Taryn makes a little noise at the back of her throat and I'm relieved shes behind me as I give the boy a dark look. I'm wary that my lacrosse stick is on my dominant side, and my hand twitches at the thought.

"Locke, let's go these humans don't know where she is. Let's go before I get bored."

The dark hair boy I had noticed before walks over and presses the red head's shoulder in annoyance. I notice their strange clothing and I feel Taryn start to respond back.

"What do you mean human? Aren't you human too?" She asks and I fight the urge to narrow my eyes at how naive she is.

The boys share a look and their figures shift again revealing what I suspected they were. Just like Vivi only not entirely human at all. They're both so beautiful that it hurts to look but theres also something so unnerving about them that stirs the same primal urge to bare my teeth and growl at them the same way I see a dog snarl at wolves. Necessary and hopeless at the same time.

The dark haired one lifts his a cheek into a lopsided smirk. "Obviously we share some similarities with your absent sister. Alas, I'm not surprised to see you haven't noticed. With humans being as dull as they are."

My jaw tightens and before I can play along and feign ignorance like Taryn the red head, Locke as he was called looks at me with deep interest.

"You noticed though didn't you." He tsks and gets closer to observe. "You must be the clever one. Perhaps that's why you've been so interesting to--" his eyes begin to shift to the dark haired one whose rolled his eyes back in annoyance but I notice his grip on his friend tighten.

"Let. Us. Go. I hate to repeat myself." Locke recoils away from us, he smiles in a way to seem nonchalant but its obvious that he is wary of his friend's bad mood.

Just as they are about to turn Taryn makes a small noise and we all turn. "Vivi is probably waiting for you in the woods. She always goes there right before dark. Something about a party."

My eyes widen and I try to convey to Taryn that these boys are probably dangerous and looking for our Vivienne for a very bad reason. But Locke looks pleased and looks his arm through my sisters in glee

"Ah, you're probably right. Why dont we go meet her there?"

"No!" I say a little too loudly, the dark haired boy looks surprised at my outburst and I quickly try to rearrange my features. "Maybe shes waiting for us at home. You know how she likes to get ready for these sort of things." I smile uneasily and try to reach for Taryn but Locke wiskes her out of my grasp, she is too enamoured by him to notice.

"Maybe we should all meet up later, let us get ready?" Taryn smiles, totally entranced by Locke while I'm silently dying to run into our house and lock up the doors. Locke shakes his head. "

You look good enough to eat as is. Why bother?" Locke chuckles and moves to push Taryn's hair behind her ear.

"At least let us put down our bags-" Taryn giggles and Locke looks amused.

"Nonsense, let us carry them." He takes Taryn's bag and I grip mine tighter. "Surely, even you Cardan have some honor to hold a gentleman's bag." Locke grins coyly, and the hairs on my arms rise up.

The dark haired boy, Cardan, hisses and reaches out for my bag. I shrink back but he takes it anyway with an outstretched hand. Taryn and Locke have already gone into the forest, their laughter going deeper into the woods. I look up at Cardan whose trying his hardest to look bemused instead of concerned for his friend.

"C'mon human, I won't bite...at first." His lips tilt into a real grin but it feels like a threat. "If you don't your sister is going to be left with the likes of him, in a dark forest with a bunch of others like him."

"Fine." I bite out and hand him my bag. I stare at my lacrosse stick longingly. "Let's go, Cardan." I say mockingly. As I turn to walk after them, he grabs me by the elbow and I almost think he's going to strike me. But he doesn't instead he loops his arm through my own and leads me after them. He awkwardly carries the bag and I actually stop to show him that it's better when the strap is across the body, he stiffens as my hands go around him to adjust it. Almost as if he's never been touched before. My eyes go up to his and I can almost feel the pulse beneath my fingers on his chest.

For the first time I smile, " Don't worry I won't bite...at first." And I put my elbow out so we can loop our arms together again.

"What do I call you?" He asks after taking my arm and leading me once again to where hopefully Taryn, Vivi and Locke are.

"Ah," I say with a hint of sarcasm in my voice I answer" most refer to me as their majesty the Queen."

His eyes narrow and I can tell he doesnt find it the least bit funny. Technically I'm not joking, I do have the Queen on my varsity hoodie for Lacrosse and soccer. My reputation is that good that I've already been scouted for several schools , but I can tell Cardan could care less.

"What do I call you, my Queen?" There is surprisingly a bit of humor in his voice. I can't help but laugh and he watches in awe almost. " You can call me Jude."

pairing: Cayde-6 (Destiny) x female reader rating: explicit warnings: Cayde baking cookies, probably sex in the snow... who knows ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°) find out under the [read more] I guess. n/a: sorry robofuckers, this was queued for last week while I was on hiatus, but it got flagged because of the gif and disappeared out of my queue smh. take this as late Caydemas present and Destcember entry. hope you like it anyway. — Cayde hates The Dawning and you’re trying to get him into the mood with cookies, ramen and a snowball fight at the Cosmodrome...

First snowflakes cover The Last City in a white and soft blanket. The seductive smell of cinnamon and freshly baked cookies is lingering in the cold air, while guardians celebrate The Dawning with silly dances, petting holographic chickens and giving each other presents. It seems like a perfect Dawning, but one important thing is missing. Actually someone very important is missing. Cayde. His back is turned towards me and he's leaning over some maps scattered all over his workdesk. The cold wind howling through the Hangar makes his familiar and battered hunter cloak float slightly. Perfect opportunity to attempt a cuddle stealth attack and throw my arms around the exo from behind. „Happy Dawning, Caydie.” I hear a deep chuckle roar through his torso, as he almost instantly turns around, making me think he had been waiting for me especially. I'm engulfed in a pair of strong arms and the familiar scent of old leather and gunpowder lingering on his armor after countless battles. His smell is hard to describe, but still I can't resist taking a deep breath of him in. It's truly infatuating. He holds me tight for a moment, before letting go and stepping back to have a look at me. „Hey beautiful.”, he greets me softly, his aqua blue optics looking me up and down. Of course I didn't dress up warmly because of the heavy snowstorm going on outside. No. I'm wearing nothing but boots and a sexy Santa dress including hat. Just for him. For Cayde. I'm his present and it's so worth humiliating myself in public, or getting a pneumonia. Another chuckle escapes Cayde's throat, the orange lights in the back of his throat are flickering. „You look... ridiculous.”, he scoffs, pinching the fuzzy bobble of my Santa hat with his finger, but I know damn well that it's his loving way of showing affection. Still I play along and push him away from me, lift my dress up slightly and turn around slowly. „Your eyes say something different, my vanguard...”, I whisper seductively, looking over my shoulder and winking at him as he surveys me. His eyebrow plates shift, giving him a amused look, before he grabs a fistful of my dress and pulls me back to his body. Somehow possessive, but I'm not gonna complain about it.„I mean it. Ridiculous.”, he repeats in a mocked tone, smiling broadly at me now. I feel a bit uncomfortable under his gaze undressing me, but damn, I loved it when this exo was sassy. „But, but... I wear this for you...”, I whimper, turning away from him, starting to act out the most dramatic fake crying in the history of fake cries. „You hate it. I wanted to look pretty for our date.”, I sob, pretending to rub my eyes. „No, no, no... sweetie. You look stunning. I just hate Chr-”, I hear him awkwardly stutter behind my back, but I quickly turn around and laugh at his dumb but overall adorable helpless face. „Ha! Got you! Awww, you should see your stupid face!” I press a sweet kiss on his cold metal chin and take his hand in mine. ”Now come on, we're late for The Dawning market at the Bazaar, Grumpy.”, I sąy and pull him with me out of his beloved Hangar. Cayde follows me more or less unwillingly and sighs, squeezing my hand. „I swear, if I hear Last Christmas one more time I'm gonna blow something up.”, he mutters under his breath and I can't help but smirk at him. „Can't lie, I would love to see that.” He chuckles, the orange lights behind his mouth-plates outlining a smirk back at me. „A girl after my own heart.”, he praises, taking off his cloak and gently putting it around my bare back and shoulders. “You must be freezing. Worst case scenario, you'll get a cold. But maybe you'll only get a pneumonia.”, he jokes. “I think I see the benefits of being an exo, Cayde.” The awkwardness between us diminished slightly on the way to the Bazaar. I had known this man ever since he came to The Last City, seen him almost everyday when he wasn't on missions or busy with his vanguard duties - spending our free time together, going to the ramen shop, playing cards or just talking about whatever was going on in our heads. But now, his cloak was around my shoulders and we’re holding hands. We're having a date. A real date. This was different and he seems like a virtual stranger, but yet of course I still trust him. Just one look into his warm and glowing aqua blue optics is enough to push away my indecision completely. We reach the Bazaar and I'm pleasantly surprised. Snowflakes are dancing in the cold air and everything was beautifully decorated with lanterns and candles, giving the place a warm and cozy touch. I'm probably standing too long and awkwardly around just staring, because Cayde waves his hand in front of my face with a chuckle. “Still with me? Ramen time?”, he asks, already pulling me towards the ramen shop, but I hold him back. “Yes, get us a nice place to sit, I just need to get something real quick.”, I explain, giving him a little kiss on his cold metal chin and hurrying over to aunt Eva Levante. She was surrounded by dozens of guardians, buying last minute cookie ingredients and recipes, like their many and endless lives depended on it. I awkwardly shove my small body through all kinds of strong hunters, titans and warlocks to my aunt and greet the old lady with a quick kiss on the cheek, before grabbing a heart shaped box laying around next to the beautiful big blue handmade oven. Aunt Eva helped me baking these cookies for Cayde last night, since I'm the worst cook and baker in the whole wide universe, but thanks to her they actually turned out delicious, even though some of the ingredients we used sound gross as hell. I mean, Vex milk? Cabail oil? Taken butter? Ew. I don't mean to overreact, but if Cayde didn't like these cookies, I would never bake again. This really means much to me. He means much to me. Damn, I was really head over heels in love with this exo... I give auntie Eva another quick goodbye kiss, squeeze myself back through the mob of guardians and take a deep breath before walking over to the ramen shop where Cayde is waiting for me, or most likely causing trouble again. I was just gone for like one minute? “Come on, my man! I'm having a date with a beautiful girl for the first time in 100 years. I'll give you glimmer or one of my stashes if you give us your seat, come on!”, he's bothering a old man just trying to enjoy his ramen. “Caaayde.”, I hiss, pulling him away and giving him a forced sweet smile. “What are you doing? Why are you blackmailing this poor old man?”, I ask confused, before slapping his chest armor. “There's only one stool left and I was asking very politely if he could give it to us.”, he responds innocently, giving me his puppy eyes. It never fails me how expressive exos could look if they wanted to, especially this adorable fool. I shake my head and sigh, slapping his chest again. “Just let me sit on your lap, drama queen.”, I suggest. Cayde hops on the free stool and makes himself comfortable, spreading his legs wide, before patting his thigh, inviting me to take a seat. “Please make yourself comfortable. Best seat in the universe, I swear.”, he says, winking at me. What a sight he is. I hesitate for a second, asking myself what I've gotten myself into, but I can't resist and sink down on his thigh. Cayde's gloved hands grip my hips, pulling me halfway into his lap. Oh my, I was in his lap. Suggesting this solution was probably the best idea I've ever had. “Comfy huh? Amazing.”, he purrs into my ear. A shiver goes down my spine and my heart is hammering so hard, I'm afraid he could hear of feel it. Like it wasn't enough that the wink he'd given me just seconds ago already left me mildly out of my breath. How am I supposed to play it cool? Our date didn't even start yet and he was too overwhelming. “Cayde.” I take another deep breath and pull out the heart shaped box I've successfully managed to hide behind my back. “I made you something.” Cayde's optics dip to the little box in my hands and his eyebrow plates shift in surprise. “You made me something?”, he asks in disbelief, gently taking the box out of my hands, curiously studying his gift before opening it. A smile forms his mouth plates when my cookies are revealed in all it's beauty. “All this for me? No one ever made me something... Thank you, beautiful.” Cayde slightly leans over to me and softly pokes his cold lips on my cheek. “You're welcome. I hope I won't poison you.”, I give back with a smile, causing him to chuckle. “I've had worse deaths. It's more likely that I'm gonna poison you, cause...”, he pulls out a little bag out of his pants and hands it to me. “I've made you something too.”, he adds, and I could swear that he bows his head in shame a little. “What have you done now, silly?”, I ask amused, opening the little red paper bag and what I see makes my heart jump in excitement. To my amazement, he baked for me too! Cayde-6, yes, Cayde, the vanguard baked something for me! My eyes wander between his ashamed face and his cookies and when I take a closer look, these were totally burnt black and badly covered up in frosting and scrawly drawn smilies and hearts. I can't help myself and burst into laughter, throwing my arms around his neck. “You're so cute.”, I giggle, pressing my lips on his cold cheekbone, before I dug my face into his neck, breathing in the fierce leather of his armor. We feed each other with our presents and I'm having a hard time to not burst into laughter again. Cayde's baking attempts taste like nothing but pure soot covered in sugar and are so hard that I'm afraid that I'm gonna break my teeth or my jaw. Still I pretend that his cookies are the best thing I've ever eaten, because it's the cutest and nicest thing someone has ever done for me and I didn't want to hurt his feelings somehow. Gratefully we accept our bowl ramen and I'm really relieved that I don't have to continue to eat Cayde's burnt cookies, as mean as it sounds. We always shared a bowl together, it was one of our rituals by now, since I couldn't finish a whole potion on my own. It was nice. I curl my cold hands around the steaming hot bowl and take one slow sip of the stock with a sigh. It was spicy and mild, just the way I liked it. I smile in pleasure as the warm liquid starts to thaw me from the inside. It was still cold out here, although I was wearing Cayde's cloak and sitting on his lap. “You still like your ramen that way?”, he asks, twirling the noodles around his chopsticks. “It's lovely, Cayde...” I lean back and start to relax a little, while we continue feeding each other ramen and a sense of the familiar starts to come over me, warming me even more. He's oddly silent and I decide to prod a little. “So... No offence but I can't imagine you made the cookies yourself?”, I ask with a little grin, gesturing to his beautiful burnt cookies laying in my lap. Cayde looks away from me for a moment and scratches his head. “I … um... had help.”, he confesses slowly, probably thankful that exos couldn't blush. “Zavala and Ikora.”, he adds and I can't help but laugh at his obvious embarrassment that the other vanguards helped him with the cookies. I admit, it probably wasn't the manliest thing to do, but it was quite endearing that he did this only for me. I giggle and edge closer to him, cup his chin in my hand and wipe away the grease of the ramen running down his mouth. His optics take a little and quick peek at my décolleté and that's enough to make me blush. Cayde's thumb gently tucks hair out of my face, behind my ear. The used and raw leather of his glove makes me gasp softly, as his thumb slips to my lips and he slowly leans in to me. His bright optics turn to dim slits and I can feel his hot breath tickling my lips, but somehow I panic when his face is close enough that his horn pokes my forehead - and so I panic. I press a quick kiss on his horn and pull down the hoodie over his face, before I jump off his lap. “Let's go play in the snow!”, I suggest, trying to change the awkward mood slightly. Cayde pulls back his hoodie and empties the bowl of ramen with a loud burp. What a man. “I know a nice place where we can play.”, he gives back, with a twinkle in his optics.

*** “Just like old times, huh?”, Cayde asks as we jump out of his ship right into the thick snow. “The Cosmodrome!”, I gasp in surprise and my eyes wander over the abandoned winter wonderland. The cold here literally takes my breath away. It had been so warm inside Cayde's ship, that I've totally forgotten about the weather outside and the fact that snow was actually cold, especially when you're just wearing a dress and boots. I guess this is what I get for dressing up sexy for Cayde and rejecting his attempts to kiss me. Good one, Karma. “Our own playground.”, he comments, wrapping his arms around my waist from behind and resting his chin on top of my head as we take in the view with mixed feelings. It's not our first visit, we've actually been here a few times before. I knew that he woke up here as guardian and many people died here in The Golden Age. All the rusty and left cars never fail to give me chills. The Cosmodrome was truly tragic. And beautiful. Tragically beautiful. “Are you alright, sweetheart?”, Cayde asks after a while, his voice sounds somehow concerned and his arms pull me in closer to his body. I turn around to face him and he looks down on me. I can feel his breath on my face, the heat of his body pressed on mine. I look up into his bright blue optics and he doesn't hesitate to pull me closer toward the Cosmodrome. Holding his hand seems like the most natural thing in the world, but this time it feels electric. Exciting. My hand feels so small in his big gloved hand. So small, but lost and found. Another imagine of those big gloved hands exploring every inch of my body flashes my mind. His strong arms holding his weight above me follows and I quickly push it away. Somehow shocked by the raw animal lust that seems to take over my sanity and reason. We walk past the rusty cars and I don't even notice how I squeeze his hand until he squeezes back softly. Suddenly I nearly slip and fall when I step on a piece of ice and cling to his hand. Cayde quickly grabs my waist until I regain my balance and watches me with amusement, as I squeal and struggle for his grip on the slippery ice. Gratefully I mouth a “thanks”, trying my best to keep walking without further incidents, when he all of a sudden let's go of my hand and runs away from me. “I'm gonna own you!”, he calls, turning to a car and grabbing a fistful of snow from the covered surface. I narrow my eyes and pull my tongue at him, quickly running away in the different direction where the snow was thicker and more cars afforded me cover and good places to hide. Failing to concentrate on my strategy to actually own him, I can't help but laugh at the tension between us. It's just the two of us. Cayde and me. All alone at the Cosmodrome. A snowball whizzed by my head, luckily missing me. It's followed by a shout of triumph from Cayde. Seems like he didn't mean to treat me like a queen anymore, so fine with me! I start to run into another direction, bend down to collect snow, trying to make it as difficult as possible for him to hit me. While running I scoop up some snow and throw it in his direction. Hit or miss. I laugh out loud, ducking for cover behind a car as he throws another quick snowball at me. His aim was terribly good, after all he was a hunter, but it harmlessly lands in the snow beside me. I take the chance and bend again, scoop up a handful of snow and shape it into a tight ball, before taking careful aim and throwing it full force at his chest. He's a distance away from me, but my snowball hits his body, exploding in a puff of snowflakes and leaving a white mark on his armor. Cayde narrows his optics at me and throws another snowball back. I quickly hide behind a tree, somehow avoiding most of it, but screaming with delight at our little war here. I'm already out of breath, not only from the cold, but also from running and screaming my lungs out. Chucking another snowball at him, Cayde is starting to run full tilt at me with a new snowball in his hand, shrugging off my pathetic attempt like it's nothing. Squealing I run away from him as quickly as my feet carry me over the snow, but his snowball hits me at the back of my neck though, making me shiver and squeal even more. I feel a frisson of excitement as I run, like I'm being pursued and I'm his prey. I duck behind a car to recover, bending over, hands on my knees to catch my breath for a second. I'm breathing really heavily by now and have snow halfway up my dress, feeling the melting cold dripping down my back. The sound of Cayde's boots crunching in the snow brings me back to reality and I, slightly recovered, pick up a handful of snow and warily glance around the car. Suddenly something hits my face hard and cold. My vision is getting blurry into a white stain. “Ouch! Cayde, you hit me!” “I hit you in a friendly way!” “In the face?” I wipe away the snow out of my eyes to try and see how close he was to me, when he straight ahead tackles me deep into the soft, powdery snow, safely catching our bodies. Cayde piles his full weight on me and a startled woah escapes his mouth. He's lying on top of me, his kneepads are pressed between my legs and his horn is gently poking my forehead. I expect him to get off me any second, but to my surprise, he doesn't move at all. His bright blue optics are looking deeply into my eyes, as his rapid breath is misting in the cold December air. Suddenly, I don't see the carefree manchild I used to hang out with before. This Cayde was a grown and strong man who had pinned me down in the snow. I was already out of breath but the nearness of him took the rest of it away. “You won, Cayde. Get off me.”, I surrender so half-heartedly that it makes him chuckle. “No. I'm not done with you yet, babe.”, he whispers and carefully leans down, gently covering my mouth with his own. His metallic lip-plates are as cold as ice, but as our heartbeats speed up, our lips start to thaw slightly. We deepen the kiss and my tongue explores the insides of his mouth, all hot and hard. Sadly my tongue can't find another tongue in his mouth to dance with, but it gladly continues exploring. I moan as we kiss, clasping his neck and pushing myself closer to him, so desperate to be nearer to his skin. My entire body is pulsing with my heartbeat and I can feel him pressing into me, arousing me even more. I moan his name and let him know that I want him as well. Cayde shifts up onto his elbows, letting some of the stored warm air between us escape into the cold air. There's an electric sensation as his gloved hand brushes the inside of my thighs. I can't help but gasp and arch my back when his hand wanders up to my panties. There's a steely glint in his optics as he smiles down to me and it once again never fails to amaze me how expressive exos could look. This was a different side of Cayde-6 that I've never seen before and it excites me... I need more of him. I want more of him. A sudden coldness strucks my thighs, when his gloved hands pull up my skirt over my hips very slightly. His optics seem to scan every inch of my exposed skin and save it as jpeg, before he unzips his pants. The sound of his zipper, a sound I've heard many times before in my life, startles me again and I push myself up onto my elbows. He quickly kisses me and his optics glow somehow earnestly at me. “Trust me. I got you.”, he whispers softly and continues to kiss me as he pushes me slowly back down into the snow. His hand slips back between our bodies again. I feel my panties being pushed aside and replaced with something hard and warm as he thrusts down into me with no forewarning. A jolt of electricity flows through me as I realize that Cayde actually intends to take me, right here, right now, at the Cosmodrome. “Cayde... fuck!”, I blurt out amazed and overwhelmed at the same time, arching my back and digging my nails into his shoulders. I can feel him sinking deeper into me with a grunt. “Yeah, fuck. That's exactly what we're going to do right now...Fuck.”, he groans back, burying his cold faceplate in the bend of my neck. I shiver at the sensation, as he thrusts up in me for the second time. My muscles stretch around him and I can feel every inch of his smooth and warm hardness as he moves inside of me. The snow allows no sound of anything else but my gasps, his moans and the rustle of my dress and his armor rubbing together. I move against him and clench my thighs around his waist, allowing him to sink deeper. It was a little tricky with the tiny gap in clothing that we allowed, but I can hear his breath accelerate as I pull him further into me. We start to move in a faster rhythm, every push in a soft grunt from him and every pull out a small moan from me. Cayde fits me so well, so perfectly, it's like our two bodies seem to melt together into one. I can feel every hair on my body stiffening and standing up as he moves in and out of me, causing an electric sensation over my entire body as his worn and dirty armor rubs against my new dress and lacey panties. My sharp nails leave half moons in the dark leather of his armor and Cayde speeds up, frenziedly like an animal. A surge of heat and inevitable slowness overcomes me and I lose my breath, as pure pleasure hits me like a wave and all of my muscles clench around Cayde. I can't tell if I make any sort of noise at all, or if I was hearable across the whole Cosmodrome. All I can concentrate on is Cayde inside and on top of me. Filling and surrounding me. My orgasm probably pushes him over the edge as well, because he suddenly comes too. His metallic features contorts and he growls loudly, as his body is getting stiff. He doesn’t give up yet and keeps thrusting into me a couple more times, before he empties himself inside me and collapses on top of me, still careful that his horn doesn't hit my face or head. Our heavy panting unites. “I hate to say this but... this Dawning is not so bad....”, he confesses with a tired smirk forming his lip-plates. I want more of Cayde. Thoughts about today’s clips :

- I love seeing more of Alexia and Emma again I love them and I love their dynamic

- Daphné is back to being annoying ugh :/

- Imane is so sweet with her friends in general

- So the trip thing is very similar to Skam NL...a bit eh about it because it doesn’t have this big overarching group dimension about it where everyone does it

- Overall I’m a bit worried that it’s so similar to OG, esp the part about ‘getting Manon a new guy’...like can it be someone else on the ballon squad at least ? Like idk maybe Idriss ? Then maybe it could be a bit weird that Imane’s bff is dating her brother but like...we won’t have that loathed love triangle. But Marilyn said we would hate Manon this season so ugh. I was looking forward to them actually changing the story.

- I am not seeing a lot of symbolism yet except for this : the season started with Imane washing her hands. The clubhouse/gym place had waves painted on the outside. Sooo....Water ? lol i’m reaching tbh

- I really like the visuals of this episode so far, more than ep1 of s3 tbh ; there’s a lot more warm tones and less blue light - it makes sense story wise, but it’s nicer on the eyes. I like that we’re in a totally different part of Paris too.

- The ‘alpha males’ thing is...yikes. Emma “helping” Idriss tho. Hilarious. I just love her lack of f*cks sooo much.

- Sofiane dancing, oh my god ! He’s so good ! Like the whole aesthetics of that scene, the golden light, Sofiane’s absorption in what he’s doing, the mirror....The look on Imane’s face ! also ummmm....muscles....and ugh the ‘peut être’ ‘peut être ça me va’ awwwwwwwww we love a love interest that’s passionate about stuff. like is there anything more attractive ? I hope Alexia noticed he was looking at Imane

- the music was really nice too and the lyrics are interesting “ And how I wish I could've seen the stars align / It was never gonna happen any other time / And everything was easier when I didn't know you /You don't know what you got until it's gone into the blue’ ....so miscommunication, timing issues...hmmm

- s4 and the girl squad being mains again is stressing me out because it brings to the front the one thing Skam in general, imho, is pretty bad at : male/female relationships. Like Skam aces queer love, friendship, all sorts of representation. But m/f love stories are generally pretty terrible tbh. Like Eva/Jonas was disintegrating so okay. Eva/Chris...ehhhh. Not a solid foundation of personal interaction, they’re just getting drunk together. Noorhell...okay, sure it’s your guilty pleasure, go ahead. But the message it sends is just bad. Skam France gave us Marles, which same, and Daphné/Basile, in which Basile spends most of the time ignoring her boundaries and being gross and pushy as hell, and she’s still pressured to ‘give him a chance’ (yikes). He turned around somewhat but imho, she should have let him try longer. And the fact she was already showing interest when he was still mostly being garbage...so unrelatable like. Skam’s best love stories happen when they are forced by an element of the story to sidestep the toxic heteronormative mold - with Elu/Evak because duh and with Yousana/Sofimane (well, i hope) because of Sana/Imane’s religious convictions, and because she has such a strong backbone and principles in general and can’t be ‘taught out’ of them like the Manon character. with what they’re setting up rn i’m really like...ehh.

- I miss Eliott and Lucas tbh the lack of hiatus really has me struggling to get into this season more it’s a shame but the end of s3 has always been so frustrating to me because we see them actually be happy like what...3 minutes before it’s over, even more with Skam Fr because they upped the drama in ep 10 and i’m still in withdrawal.

- I really hope this season gives a bigger place to Sofimane and Imane in general i am so ready to fall in love with them too like Skam France is the best at depicting those pure romantic stories full of symbolism and amazing moments and them devoting so much time to other stuff becomes so frustrating lmao also because tbh imho they’re better at romance and less good at everything else compared to og

i also make a habit of unfollowing people who do Shit that i complain about on the regular (fascism/wh-te s-premcy rhetoric apologetics, ab-se shippers, etc). jk/scourge. i’ve seen it done ICly exactly once. most of the time scourge is rewritten as a noble romantic knight in edgy armour and not the manipulative borderline-stalker that he is. i hate the pairing for the shitty characterisation that usually accompanies it and i hate the pairing for the abusive relationship it would be were he IC. there is no winning move here except not to play.

corso/smuggler. i get the feeling that most people into this pairing like corso as they want him to be, not corso as he is. or maybe that’s just wishful thinking on my part, idk.

Unpopular opinion about XXX character?

major anri exists only to put a likeable face on the empire. she and brax are incredibly deliberate (not to mention hamfisted) attempts to Humanise(tm) a genocidal imperialistic fascist regime and to attempt to play on the guilt of players/characters who take the saboteur route. sadly what bioware seem to fail to realise is that i traded my ability to feel sorry for the empire for a magic bean. it was completely worth it.

Unpopular opinion about your fandom?

swtor fandom is a dumpster fire. racism, misogyny, fascism apologia, ablism, we got it all, folks. in that respect it is not abnormal for fandoms but this is neither an excuse nor a selling point.

it is also not welcoming in the slightest if you take issue with any of the above.

Unpopular opinion about the manga/show/game?

the old method of unlocking travel waypoints was way more immersive (even if it was a colossal pain in the ass). exploring the depths of belsavis for the first time was awe inspiring - seeking out ancient forgotten tech to dig into secrets locked away for untold millenia.

yes, it was a huge pain in the ass, especially if you were on your nth alt. i’d be fine with some system (maybe legacy based) where waypoints/speeder points for a planet are unlocked once you’ve completed the planetary story for the first time (or something). there is so much content in the game that just gets missed by first time players because bioware want to rush them through to the very end and it sucks.

If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?

invent a time machine, arrange for the firing of those who okayed kotfe and its shitty story that glorified a repeat abuser and its shitty gameplay and its total lack of repeatable group content in an mmo. make the writers produce something that a. actually stayed true to the themes of star wars and b. didn’t glorify an abusive genocidal shitlord like valkoriate.

then find myself some lottery numbers and set up a fund for giving out money to people who are reduced to begging on social media for medical bills.

SKAM Austin Season 2 Episode 9 Thoughts

So, I thought this was the last episode, but then a clip was released today. I’m guessing there will be ten total episodes in this season. Like I said before, Daniel is officially canceled in my book, so if you don’t want to hear me ranting about what an asshole he is... maybe don’t read this.

Grace had to drive out to Clay’s school just to talk to him. God, can she get a break?

Clay is trying to laugh things off, but Grace is serious AF.

And then that asshole calls Grace a slut. He is such a horrible human being. Why does Daniel believe him over Grace? I will never understand this storyline. He knows his brother is psycho, why would he believe anything he says?

Grace “apologizes” to Clay and he says: “It is a scary time to be a guy, you know?” I thought that was an especially good line to put in to SKAM Austin. Men in the United States say that all the time now that #MeToo is a thing. Heck, even our president says it. It is disgusting. I mean, you think it is scary to be a guy and be accused of sexual harassment? How about being a woman and experiencing sexual harassment. That is a hell of a lot scarier.

Then Grace goes off on him, exposing him for the terrible person he is. She is such a badass in this scene. I missed this beautiful, strong woman.

Clay rushes to assure Grace that he didn’t do anything to her, but it is hard to believe him. Grace just threatened to report him to the police. I am willing to bet he would lie to her, just to get her off his case.

But I have to say, my favorite part of the clip is when Grace walked away and Megan was waiting for her on the curb to drive her home. This brings up a small issue I have with Austin. It is not even really an issue, but something I would have liked to see. I wish we could have seen Megan and Grace’s relationship more this season. Last season, we didn’t really get much and we didn’t this season either. I think it is a problem with the remakes in general. The Eva character kind of gets sidelined in Noora’s season. The remake that portrays these girls’ friendship the best is SKAM NL in my opinion. I love seeing scenes of Isa and Liv together because they are just so close.

That being said, I adored this scene. I think it may be my favorite iteration of the confrontation scene yet.

Ready to Talk

Grace texts Daniel about everything, explaining that she might never know what happened, how terrifying the whole ordeal was, that she might have been drugged. Daniel starts texting back, but never sends anything.

This is the point of no return for me. Let me tell you a story. When I first watched SKAM Season 2, I didn’t find anything too inherently wrong with it. At this point in time, I wasn’t aware of the whole social media and text aspect of the series, so I was just watching the full episodes without any of the context of the instagram posts or text messages posted. Sure, I definitely felt uncomfortable about some parts of the storyline, like William constantly pressuring Noora to go out with him or come to his parties. Even when the scene came out where William confronted Noora about the Niko situation, despite how awfully he treated her, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I thought, “Well, he doesn’t know the whole story. Who knows what Niko told him and Noora really didn’t get a chance to explain herself.” I finished off the season with this mindset. It was only later that I learned about the text messages posted online. I learned that Noora had explained what happened to William, telling him that she had most probably been sexually assaulted. This is where the character of William lost any sympathy I might have had for him. Going back to SKAM Austin, Daniel disregards his girlfriend’s feelings when he has full knowledge that she might have been drugged and sexually assaulted. He treats her like shit after this, not texting her or talking to her. Nothing he does can ever redeem him in my eyes. Grace deserves better.

God is a Woman

The girls are all chilling, getting ready to go to Prom later. Kelsey waltzes in, looking gorgeous in her pale blue prom dress. She talks about she used to feel that she had to be skinny to be successful, but now she realizes otherwise. She pulls out a water bottle that is filled with alcohol.

Megan refuses a drink when Kelsey offers, saying she wants to take a break from drinking - and from Marlon.

Kelsey whole heartedly agrees, stating that they don’t need boys to validate them. This is one of the most flawed parts of Season 2 for me. Kelsey and Megan realize that they don’t need boys to have self-worth (which is such a great message for teenage girls), but Grace (the lead of this season) experiences the opposite of that. She is strong and confident without a man in the first season and the beginning of this season, but by the end she needs Daniel to be happy. There is so much disconnect between the two messages this season is trying to put forward.

Jo complains about her boy trouble with the guy she’s been talking to online and the girls assure her she doesn’t need him.

#Prom

OK, well this Prom is a hell of a lot nicer than the one my school offered. We actually had Prom on the exact same night, so…

Pen-Joe comes up to Jo and Grace, asking Jo for a dance. Like the boss lady that she is, Jo replies “I already have a boyfriend” in Spanish. That is right, Pen-Joe. You lost your chance with the beautiful woman that is Josefina Valencia.

Back inside the dance, Abby announces Daniel as Prom King, but apparently he didn’t show up. This reminds me of yet another awful thing Daniel did to Grace. He said they were going to Prom together, but then he never shows up. Dude.

Zoya wins Prom Queen!!!!! I wasn’t sure if we were going to get this scene, but we did and I am so damn happy for her. She deserves it.

Grace asks Pen-Joe where Daniel is, but he just says that “family stuff”. What the hell is that supposed to mean?

Out on the dance floor, Kelsey is dancing with a nice-looking dude, Zoya and Megan are dancing together, and Jo accepts Pen-Joe’s offer for a dance. You better make him apologize for the rude way he treated you, girl.

Aw, Grace posts a selfie of herself looking happy, but you can tell it is all a facade. She goes to join Megan and Zoya.

Welcome to My Life

It is the middle of the night and Grace gets a message on instagram from xxtrinity2121 about Clay.

A conversation ensues between the two girls. Apparently this mystery instagram girl is their version of Mari, telling Grace nothing happened between her and Clay. Obviously, this news is a great relief to Grace.

They also talk about how stressed they both are, with xxtrinity2121 confessing that she is very depressed and sometimes thinks about killing herself. Since this clip was posted, a chat was posted on SKAM Austin’s website between Grace and this girl which leads me to believe she has a more important role than just being the Mari stand-in. I have heard a lot of theories of who she is. A lot of people think she is Tyler, who is either trying to fool Grace or he was actually the person in bed with her and Clay. I don’t think the latter option is true because it looked like a girl in the bed to me when I re-watched that clip. Another interesting idea is that she is the Austin version of Even. I mean her username xxtrinity2121 has the number 21:21 in it. I really like this theory and hope it is true. That would be so interesting.

Usually Never Wrong

Zoya and Grace are walking down the hall, when Zoya pulls Abby over. She apologizes for not believing Abby about what a bad guy Hunter is. Abby tells her no problem and says she is really happy how everyone came together to support Zoya as Prom Queen, how it would have been racist if Zoya hadn’t won. Now, I don’t think Abby was trying to be mean. I genuinely think she was trying to be nice, but obviously it really hurt Zoya. She walks away. God, I feel so bad for Zoya. She deserved to win Prom Queen on her own merit, not because people think it would be racist for her not to. I think this is really gearing up to her season and I really hope she gets to have one.

Grace spots Daniel in the quad and rushes up to him, asking where he’s been. He says he’s been to see Clay. No elaboration. Then he tells her he’s going to New York for the summer. Well, I guess it’s not as bad as moving to London permanently like William was planning on doing.

Grace says she wants to talk and Daniel says “I’m done talking. It’s too much.” Too much? For you? Grace could have been sexually assaulted and this asshole has the nerve to claim it’s too much for him?God, I hate Daniel.

Grace runs after him, yelling her most iconic line yet. “Daniel, stop being a little bitch.” She tells him off. She says that a lot of stuff happened and it sucked. For her. I’m really glad they gave her that line. Because it is so damn true. Then she starts talking about how no one has loved her like Daniel has, blah, blah, blah. I wish we’d gotten more of Grace’s parents backstory because that would have given better context to this scene.

Daniel still gets in the car and drives away. As Grace is crying at the curb, we see him run back to her and they embrace.

She says she can explain everything, and he says she doesn’t need to. A lot of people were overjoyed at this line, but…. She already explained everything in the text she sent him and he ignored her and treated her like shit afterward when he finally saw her. This line makes no sense to me.

Whatever, I know a lot of people were happy they finally got together, but I can never fully forgive Daniel.

General Thoughts

This was a weird week because we got a bunch of clips on Saturday and then on one Monday and nothing else the entire week. I do think there were a lot of good parts of the clips, aside from Daniel drama. Also, the clip where Grace and Clay talk might be my favorite clip this season or for SKAM Austin in general. I think they executed it beautifully. See you next week for the last episode of this season!

Yay! Episode 6! We’re finally getting to the real *Penetrator Chris voice* drama! This time I discuss 🐍 Marti, consent, insecurities, middle aged relatives and of course whether the episode passes the Bechdel test (not to sound like one of those clickbait headlines, but the result may surprise you!).

Bubbles! Pretty iridescent bubbles! (Let’s get excited about the small things since we’re getting into #mainagioia territory)

ok, but Marti in this scene? This is Marti pulling a S2!Gio: he notices something’s wrong with Eva, he tries to cheer her up, he cajoles her into talking to him, lets her deflect and answers her questions even if they’re out of the blue, then lets her talk when she finally confides in him

“Why do you say that?” is what betrays him, he know he knows he knowsss

I really wanna cut off those bangs though. Not even Zac Efron’s hair when it was at its peak HSM1-ishness was this annoying

oh-oh, there was an off screen fight? In which Gio gaslighted the hell out of Eva lying to her about being with his mom not Laura and calling her crazy? LudoBesse, you think by leaving it out of the final cut I wasn’t gonna get mad about it? Fuck off, I’ll have you know I’m royally pissed off about it!

“Stop it, dump him and that’s it. You can’t keep feeling like this” MARTINOOOO 🐍🐍🐍 he even makes it sound like he’s saying it for her! Honestly, this guy. He’d die a thousand painful deaths for Gio (just as bffs, aside from his crush) yet he still convinces Eva he’d kind-of-side with her in an hypothetical break up

I think what Martino does is best described as stirring shit up, then running away to watch that same shit hit the fan from a safe distance

at least he hesitates a second before dropping the “You could ask Laura” bomb

oh Silvia, Silvia. Not even one full orgasm in and already you’re talking like you’re out of a rom-com where the protagonist doesn’t want anything serious, yet with him…

orgasms and sneezing have only one thing in common afaik: they’re both controlled by the autonomic nervous system

Eleonora Sava in this scene is me and I’m her and we’re both telling Silvia off and being pissed at idiotic men who pressure girls into unsafe sexual practices

“He said he never uses it [a condom].” one sentence, three things confirmed: Edoardo always puts the burden of contraception on his female partners, he is very much promiscuous and has had unsafe sex already so he could have or carry any venereal disease yet still has unsafe sex with Silvia, Silvia gets pressured to have sex without a condom and that means the encounter was not completely consensual. Edoardo, for all that I empathized with him in the last episode, is an asshole.

I actually don’t consider him an asshole for not turning his back on Silvia when she waves at him, but I do for all the reasons I mentioned above. I’m so angry, you wouldn’t believe.

and what prompts Silvia to put aside her resentment towards Sana? A show of wealth. Cute.

OUCH, my poor heart. I wasn’t ready to see Eva with her hood pulled up and earphones on, the throwback (flashforward, actually?) to that first clip after the hiatus where Marti is walking much like that and listening to Earl Sweatshirt 😭 except this time the one who’s not answering their beloved is the protagonist, not the love interest

Gio really slips up badly, with that mother-father thing

my heart is honestly breaking for Eva, Giovanni has called her all kind of things for thinking he’s with Laura, paranoid, crazy, out of her mind; yet she’s only amassing more and more proof that he’s lying and since he won’t tell her why, she can’t help but fill in the gaps herself; and at point her own guilt starts messing with her head and whispering that if Gio already cheated once, he might do it twice, what’s to stop him; and her insecurities come up right on the coattails of that to remind her that just because Gio chose her then, it doesn’t mean everyone else did, in fact they didn’t and there must be a reason, so maybe he’s realized she’s not good enough for him either and he’s gone back to the girl everyone sided with, the one everyone loves, including Eva herself because despite everything that’s her best friend, with whom she shared almost everything, that’s the girl who knows her and who Eva knows and loves

and I love Gio for really proving he knows Eva, he likes her as a person enough to have wanted to know and to remember what she likes; then I hate him for smiling, for forcing proximity with her, and for resorting to old tactics and kissing her to calm her down and convince her of his version. Shutting a person up by kissing her is borderline harassment, even if they’d normally consent. If it’s a girl, 99% of the time it’s also a sexist act, because it proves you’re don’t even have enough consideration for the woman to let her finish talking and listen to her arguments. Gio, why do you do this to me (and Eva)? You leave me no choice but to want to punch you.

Silvia taking every single possible chance to contact Edoardo breaks my heart

Fede would be an amazing hype woman I think, she’s just so supportive of everything that makes her friends feel good about themselves, even when it’s sending nudes to a jerk

“If we don’t tell her the truth, then who?” and that’s Sana in a nutshell, except she doesn’t consider those flimsy, useless little things called feelings: girl, I get it, but saying things in a kind way goes incredible lengths

“Eva, I’ve been at this school for three years” YES! That’s what I’ve been saying: Sana and Silvia (and to an extent Federica) know these people and their hierarchy really really well, for completely opposite reasons - one out of self preservation and near-scientific interest, the other because she’s a wannabe social climber -, but they’ve had the time and ability to find out how things work here; Eva, despite being there for seven months, has been so wrapped up in her own drama she hasn’t been observant at all and she doesn’t understand how the school is “run” and that’s a big fucking problem for her because she doesn’t form an opinion on whether or not she wants to get in with the cool kids, she just lets these girls (mainly Silvia) she’s known for such a short time drag her into it, and because she’s flailing around she makes trouble for herself. Eva doesn’t give a fuck about the Villa boys, about Incanti or Canegallo or Rodi or whoever else, she doesn’t even care about Laura as far as her popularity goes, so she literally gets into the whole Federico thing just for Silvia, with encouragement from the other girls.

my favourite part of Federico’s 18th birthday party is the presence of his relatives who are so completely out of place among all the kids dancing and will undoubtedly start dancing after a couple of glasses of spumante, the teenagers will end up dancing with them at first to make fun then give them a wide berth, until they realize after two songs they’re too old for this and go home, but still giddy af (seen it happen at all 18ht parties where there were parents/uncles/aunts etc.). In the meantime the boy//girl of the hour gets shitfaced and everyone will have to work to kind of hide how bad from the parents.

13:24 FIRST GLIMPSE OF ALICE

is the girl making the toast to Federico Maria Sorgato?? Isn’t she brunette in the episode Eva speaks to her outside school? Cause she looks pretty blonde her, but maybe it’s the lights.

oh Gio ❤️ I keep finding reasons to be mad at you but I still love you ❤️ you mago dell’amore, you ❤️ that text is so sweet, except not because the purpose of going to the party is still to please Eva, not to do something for them, it’s a concession he makes, not something he shares Eva’s desire to do, so I’m angry again. Well, that didn’t last long

I totally get Laura tbh, if there had been a swing at any of the parties I’ve ever been to, it’d have been mine all night, I love swings

ok, what is it that makes Laura look so bad in this scene? Is it the makeup? The lighting? Both? It’s just so unappealing, her face looks so drawn, all her imperfections show so much 😕

For a second, for a split second, when she says “Non so” she considers not doing this, but why should she do this for Eva? Payback time, bitch

oh, Canegallo. Enters the room speaking English, all dapper in his suit, then he does the whole worried thing and it’s fine, it’s fine for the most part, he sounds genuine; then he twirls her hair round his finger, has her turn her face and that’s it

and Eva wants it, because it’s comfort, reassurance, it’s a way to forget everything that’s gone to hell for a minute

and he looks at her to make sure, to check in! So different from that last kiss with Gio we saw. It takes 50 creepiness points away from Canegallo (he still has a lot)

then Alice comes in, just in time, and Federico doesn’t even have to lie to her! It’s all there, all true, so Eva couldn’t even disagree!

Alice is really nice, comforting a girl she doesn’t know at all while a cool party is going on, but her “When you meet the right guy, you’ll know, cause you’ll feel like you can trust him.” is h e a r t b r e a k i n g

Oh Alice. Your solution for heartbreak is getting back to the party, getting drunk and having dub con sex with older guys? Girl. No wonder you like Canegallo.

it’s so significant to me that Eva basically had the same “crying alone the meeting a girl who tries to comfort you” experience Silvia had at the Easter party in ep.1 and the first thing she does when she gets out is to look for, essentially, Silvia; and of course in both occasions she’s had a confrontation with Laura earlier and she goes home alone afterwards

Silvia is really a masochist, isn’t she? She stays right there, next to a passed out Chicco Rodi, looking at Edoardo going on with his life and making out with her former friend Sara

Eva walking home alone reminds me of 9.5 La Grotta except she’s walking with some purpose despite feeling lost, while Marti was literally wandering

she stops and hesitates when she sees Gio, cause she wasn’t expecting it at all, she isn’t ready, not now

Gio’s “T’ho detto un po’ di cazzate in sto periodo” is so reminiscent of several of Marti’s lines, especially of when he apologizes to the guys and to Emma

ok, so get Gio’s big reveal and Eva’s regret is written all over her face

I’m not even gonna talk about Gio huffing about Eva’s mention of that time he threw up on her while they were kissing. HE THREW UP ON HER WHILE THEY WERE KISSING. I just. Can’t.

and Gio brings up trust and I bet that Eva’s brain was replaying Alice’s words in her mind

“It’s you and me” �� (despite everything, I’m under a thousand trains for them)

Bechdel test: this episode doesn’t pass the test. The only times it comes close are when Sana arrives with the microcar and when the girls discuss Margot for a second on the windowsill, but I refuse to call either of those “conversations”.

probably ezra bridger, tbh! i started watching rebels purely for ahsoka and rex and did not expect to get so attached to the ghost crew literally within the first 5 minutes of spark of rebellion | TAKUMI | ... god, it’s so hard to remember these things, the first time i read these books was so many years ago... squirrelflight, maybe?

WHAT TO WATCH THIS WEEKEND April 12, 2019 - HELLBOY, LITTLE, MISSING LINK, AFTER

We’re almost midway through April (already?) but that also means that we’re one week closer to Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, which is probably the only movie everyone is really waiting for anyway, going by advance ticket sales.

For those who can’t wait for more super-heroics, Mike Mignola’s HELLBOY (Lionsgate) gets another go in theaters, this time played by David Harbour (Stranger Things) and directed by Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones). I wish I could say I was looking forward to seeing this, but frankly, I loved Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy: The Golden Army, and I have secretly wished for the last ten years that he would be able to continue that story with Ron Perlman, Doug Jones and the rest. This one has some interesting casting including Ian McShane, Milla Jovovich as the main baddie, Sasha Lane and Daniel Dae Kim. I guess with that cast, maybe it won’t be so bad? I expect the movie will be more geared towards the fanboys and girls rather than the mainstream audiences that have been flocking to other comic movies. (My review is now over at The Beat… and I hated it!)

Universal and Will Packer Productions are offering some interesting counter-programming to Hellboy in the comedy remake (of sorts) LITTLE, written and directed by Tina Gordon and starring Regina Hall, Issa Rae and Marsai Martin (from ABC’s Black-ish). This is the type of body-swapping comedy that’s delivered some great laughs in movies like both Freaky Friday, Tom Hanks’ Bigand others like Jennifer Garner’s 13 Going on 30. I mean, there’s still so much that can be done with this sort of thing as seen by Shazam!, and this sort of high-concept premise is also fairly easy to sell audiences. I missed the press screening of this, but if I have a few moments in April (it might happen!) I’d go check it out.

The other movie I saw that’s opening this weekend is LAIKA’s new stop-motion animated film MISSING LINK (Annapurna/UA Releasing), featuring the voices of Hugh Jackman, Zoe Saldana and Zach Galifianakis. I’m not going to review the movie even though I generally liked it, mainly since it’s been a minute since I watched it, but if you like some of LAIKA’s other films (particularly director Chris Butler’s earlier film ParaNorman) then you should enjoy this one, and like with all of LAIKA’s movies, I

Lastly, there’s Aviron’s AFTER, another teen romance drama, this one based on Anna Todd’s fan fiction that pairs Hero Fiennes Tiffin (Ralph’s nephew) and Josephine Langford in the type of Y.A. romantic drama that has had mixed results in recent years. Sure, the recent Five Feet Apartdid fine but others, like last year’s Midnight Sun, released by the defunct Global Road, barely made $10 million. Since I haven’t seen the movie – honestly, I haven’t even watched a trailer -- I’m not really sure what the appeal of this is going to be except that some younger women may not have much interest on other options this weekend.

LIMITED RELEASES

Well, I totally screwed up last week… including one movie that was delayed until this week and neglecting a movie which I thought opened this week. (This is why you need to keep me apprised on date changes, publicists!)

Actor Max Minghella makes his directorial debut with TEEN SPIRIT (Bleecker Street), starring Elle Fanning as Violet, a young woman from the Isle of Wight who hopes to get out of her smalltown blues by performing on a popular talent television show called “Teen Spirit.” Helping her out is the scraggly Vlad (Croatian actor Zlatko Burik, who starred in Nicolas Refn’s Pusher trilogy) who was an opera singer in Croatia and offers to manage Violet and help her get to the finals of the show. While Elle is no Aretha Franklin, I was truly impressed with her singing voice as well as Minghella’s screenplay and direction of the film which has a distinctive look and tone but is also a movie with quite a lot of mainstream appeal. If you like television shows like The Voice and American Idol, you might be interested in seeing one contestant’s (fictional) journey to get onto one of those shows.

The movie I left out of last week’s column is HIGH LIFE (A24), the new movie and first in English from French auteur Claire Denis, which stars Robert Pattinson, André Benjamin, Juliette Binoche and Mia Goth. I saw the movie at the New York Film Festival last year, but I guess I never got around to writing about it, but I wish I did. Not that I particularly liked the movie, but if I wrote about it, at least I could remember what it was about. I know it takes place on a spaceship with a bunch of astronauts including Pattinson and his young daughter, all of them trying to survive.

But my absolutely favorite new movie of the weekend is Alex Ross Perry’s HER SMELL (Gunpowder and Sky), starring Elisabeth Moss as Becky Something, the lead singer of an all-girl punk band who have hit the big time but are about to implode due to Becky’s addictions and eccentricities. Becky also has a baby daughter who she is constantly neglecting and her bandmates (Agyness Deyn, Gayle Rankin) and everyone is worried about her. I’ve liked some of Perry’s past work, but something about this one really connected, maybe because I spent a couple decades working in the music business, so I can relate to the frustrated engineer in the recording studio section of the film. Moss, obviously, is amazing as Becky, a role that puts her through all the highs and lows of success and fame, but I also liked the cast around her, actors like Cara Delevigne and Amber Heard who I barely could recognize in their respective wigs. I actually saw this at the New York Film Festival, and I liked it even more when I watched it again recently. It opens in New York on Friday and in L.A. and other cities next Friday, and I hope to have an interview with Perry, probably over at NextBigPicture by next week some time.

A movie that I hoped would play the Toronto Film Festival in 2017, but instead got up in the Harvey Weinstein scandal was Garth Davis’ MARY MAGDALENE (IFC Films), the follow-up to his Oscar-nominated film Lion. It stars Rooney Mara as the title character and her real-life boyfriend Joaquin Phoenix as Jesus… and just hat last part gets me worried just because I remember Rodrigo Garcia’s Last Days in the Desert a few years back, starring Ewan McGregor as Jesus. This is being released this weekend into about 50 theaters in select cities after playing in just about every other country in the world last year as it sought out a new U.S. distributor.

Italian filmmaker Matteo Garrone of Gamorrah fame returns with DOGMAN (Magnolia), a crime thriller set in a small seaside village where a dog groomer named Marcello (Marcello Fonte) is being coerced into committing petty crimes by an ex-boxer bully named Simoncino. Apparently, this is based on true events, and I generally liked it, particularly the performance of Fonte. It opens at the Film Forum and at the Film Society of Lincoln Center Friday, as well as the Landmark Nuart in L.A. It will expand to more California theaters on April 19.

Martial arts fans will want to check out master fight choreographer Yuen Woo-Ping’s latest The Ip Man Legacy: Master Z (Well GO USA), starring Max Zhang as Cheung Tin Chi, who is trying to make a life in Hong Kong with his young son after being defeated by Master Ip. The movie also stars the legendary Michelle Yeoh (in a great sequence with Zhang), Tony Jaa (ditto) and Dave Bautista… yeah, well I guess two out of three isn’t bad, but Bautista is pretty terrible, and the movie is disjointed in its storytelling. But the action is cool, so there’s that! It opens in select theaters this weekend.

Eva Husson’s Girls of the Sun (Cohen Media Group) stars Golshifteh Farahan (Pasterson) as Bahar, commander of the “Girls of the Sun” battalion, who are set to free their hometown from extremists, while also freeing her son. Emmanuelle Bercot (My King) plays a French journalist who is embedded with the warriors during the mission. Husson’s film opens at the Quad,Landmark 57and the FIAF Florence Gould Hall (now showing first-run films) on Friday, as well as the Laemmle Monica Film Center in L.A.

A movie I sadly had to miss at this year’s Oxford Film Festival is V. Scott Balcerek’s doc Satan & Adam (Cargo), a movie that took twenty years to make, as Balcerek pulls together two decades of documentary footage of the blues duo that were a fixture in Harlem in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. “Satan” is Sterling Magee, who played with so many greats but felt exploited so he walked away from the music scene, before being joined by Adam Gussow, an Ivy league scholar…but then Magee vanished, and the film follows what happened after that.

I had heard great things about Kaili Blues director BiGan’s Long Day’s Journey into Night (Kino Lorber), when it played a number of film festivals last year. It follows a man, played by Huang Jue, who is haunted by a woman from his post who he goes looking for her. And it includes a substantial single shot in 3D… for no particular reason that I could ascertain. To call the movie a “slog” would be an insult to actual slogs, and I barely could stay awake while watching it. It’s playing at the Metrograph and Film Society of Lincoln Center starting Friday.

Also now playing at Film Forum is Camille Vidal-Naquet’s debut feature drama Sauvage/Wild (Strand Releasing) following a gay sex worker, played by Felix Maritaud from BPM (Beats Per Minute).

Tim Disney’s William, opening at New York’s Cinema Village and L.A.’s Laemmle Monica Film Center, is a love story between two scientists who fall in love while trying to clone a Neanderthal from ancient DNA creating William, the first Neanderthal to walk the earth in 35,000 years. The film stars Will Brittain, Waleed Zuaiter, Maria Dizzia and Beth Grant.

Gilles de Maistre’s Mia and the White Lion (Ledafilms Entertainment Group) is an ambitious film about a ten-year-old named Mia whose family moves to Africa to manage a lion farm, bonding with a white lion she names Charlie. The film was shot over three years, so that the film’s young starsDaniah De Villiers and Ryan Mac Lennan could bond with their lion co-stars. The film also stars Melanie Laurent and Langley Kirkood, and it opens in select cities.

LOCAL FESTIVALS

I’m finally shifting my gaze over to Chicago where the 21stAnnual EBERTFEST kicked off yesterday with Alan Elliot’s Aretha Franklin concert film Amazing Grace, as well as a special showing of the Wachowski’s Bound with special guests Jennifer Tilly and Gena Gershon. It continues through the weekend with showings of recent and older movies, including Cameron Crowe’s Almost Famous, Jonathan Demme’s Rachel Getting Married and more.

Late Nites at Metrographwill screen Werner Herzog’s Bad Liuetenant: Port of Call New Orleans, starring the inimitable Nicolas Cage, while the Playtime: Family Matineesthis weekend is Danny Kaye as Hans Christian Anderson. Although I forgot to include it last week, Michael Blackwood’s 1968 docs Monk and Monk in Europe(as in Thelonious Monk) will continue for the next week, as does King Hu’s The Fate of Lee Khan from 1973. This Saturday night, the Metrograph is presenting a cast and crew reunion for Sidney Lumet’s 1988 movie Running on Emptywith Christine Lahti, screenwriter Naomi Foner and producers Amy Robinson and Griffin Dunne

THE NEW BEVERLY (L.A.):

L.A.’s hottest newish rep theater will show Michael Ritchie’s 1975 film Smile as well as his 1992 film Diggstownon Weds and Thursday (and apparently, Bruce Dern appeared in person on Weds!), Friday and Saturday are Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry (1971) and Escape from Alcatraz (1978), while Sunday and Monday screens David Lean’s The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957). This weekend’s KIDDEE MATINEE is Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park, while the midnight offerings are The Hateful Eight on Friday and The Blues Brothers (1980) on Saturday. On Monday afternoon, there’s a screening Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut, starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.

FILM FORUM (NYC):

On Saturday, Film Forum will screen Jaime Chávarri’s 1976 documentary El Desecanto, introduced by author Aaron Shulman, who wrote a book about the Spanish literary family, the Paneros, on which the movie is based. (FYI, Chávarri’s film was never released in the States, and there is only one screening on Saturday.) Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times (1936) will screen Saturday and Sunday as part of Film Forum Jr, and Francesco Rossi’s 1973 film Lucky Lucianowill screen a 4k restoration for a single screening on Sunday afternoon.

AERO (LA):

The late Luke Perry gets a tribute with Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992) shown on Thursday, and then the Aero is doing its own Claire Denis tribute (cause everyone else is doing i!) with Salt, Sweat and Sunshine: The Cinema of Claire Denis with a double feature of her debut Chocolat (1988) and White Material (2009) on Friday, a screening of Beau Travail (1999) on Saturday, Nenette and Boni (1996) and 35 Shots of Rum (2008) on Saturday, and then Trouble Every Day (2001)and Let the Sunshine In (2017) on Sunday. Most of those will be showing on 35mm and Denis will be there, at least for the first two nights.

MOMA (NYC):

Modern Matinees: B is for Bacall continues with 1948’s Key Largo on Thursday and Jonathan Glazer’s Birth (2004) on Friday. The What Price Hollywood series will screen George Cukor’s Sylvia Scarlett (1935) and John Waters’ Female Trouble (1974) on Thursday, Nicholas Ray’s In a Lonely Place (1950) and Bill Gunn’s Ganja & Hess (1973) on Friday, Mitchell Leisen’s Midnight (1939), Clarence Brown’s 1931 film A Free Soul and George Cukor’s What Price Hollywood (1932) on Saturday and Fritz Lang’s Clash By Night (1952) and Joseph Lewis’ Gun Crazy (1950) on Sunday.

QUAD CINEMA (NYC):

The Quad begins its new series Wild Things: The Ferocious Films of Nelly Kaplan, a tribute retrospective to a pivotal filmmaker in the French New Wave, which I know next to nothing about, so I won’t even try. Just click on the title to see the movies playing.

BAM CINEMATEK (NYC):

This week’s series is The Anarchic Cinema of Věra Chytilová, a celebration of the filmmaker who emerged during the Czech New Wave, which I know even less about than the French New Wave. Just click on the link if you know who she is.

LANDMARK THEATRES NUART (LA):

This Friday’s midnight screening is the ‘70s classic Dirty Mary Crazy Larry (1974), starring Peter Fonda and Susan George. I’m not sure when was the last time I had a chance to see this movie but if I were in L.A., this is where I would be on Friday night.

STREAMING AND CABLE

Streaming on Netflix starting Wednesday is THE SILENCE, the new apocalyptic thriller from director John R. Leonetti (Annabelle), starring Stanley Tucci, Kiernan Shipka and Miranda Otto. In this twist on Netflix’s hit Bird Box (and rip-off of A Quiet Place?), this one involves a world being terrorized by primeval beings with acute hearing and a family trying to survive. Also streaming Friday is the high concept teen rom-com The Perfect Date, starring Noah Centineo as a guy who is payed to take a friend’s cousin to the prom.

Next week, another horror movie in New Line’s The Curse of La Llorona, plus the faith-based drama Breakthrough from Fox and DisneyNature’s Penguins.
