The Princess & the Football Player | Chapter 1
Summary: "They say they want to make the monarchy more modern, to be closer to the people, but then your parents would prefer it if you married a guy whose Godfather is the freaking Prince of Monaco, instead of a guy from Kingston." Or the love story between Princess Eleanor, heir to the British throne, and Declan Rice, English football player.Â
Authorâs note:Â This story has been sitting on my drafts for maybe two months because I never was completely happy with it, and tbh, I still feel the same. Though sometimes those are the ones people like the most đ I got inspired to write it during the World Cup when people here in Spain went crazy about the idea of Princess Leonor and Gavi dating and him becoming the future King because she, apparently, is her fan and has a crush on him đ
That's why on this story, the British Royal family has the name of the Spanish one đ Â Hope you like it, and thank you for reading! đ

"Ok, ask me one more."
"Dad..."
"Just one more, please."
"Fine" I say, rolling my eyes. "Who is that one?" I ask, pointing at the papers he has on his hands.
"That's easy. Aaron Ramsdale, goalkeeper, plays for Arsenal."
"See? You know them all. Relax."
"I just want to do this right. You are the one into sports, not me."
"You'll be fine, you already know them all from the Euros."
"Yeah" he says, letting out a big sigh. "What about you? Are you nervous?"
"Why would I be?"
"You may be meeting one of your crushers."
"I don't have a crush on anyone on the national team."
"Oh, c'mon Eleanor. You watch all their games, you must fancy at least one of them."
"I don't" I shrug.
"Not even Mason Mount? I've heard girls think he is fit."
"That he is what?" I laugh.
"Fit. That's what Sophie says about boys who are handsome and attractive."
"Yes, Sophie. But not you."
"Why? Because I'm old?"
"No, because you are the King of England."
"Whatever" he says. "You don't like anyone, then?"
"No one. So you better not try anything or do what you did when we met One Direction years ago."
"What did I do?"
"Tell Niall Horan that I had a crush on him? That I had photos of him in my room?"
"Oh, yes" he chuckles. "But don't worry, I won't do it again. I learnt my lesson."
"You better. Just imagine that someone hears something and runs to the press with it. I can already see the headlines: Princess Eleanor in love with a football player. And they'll probably pick the worst option."
"Like Grealish."
"You said it, I didn't" I laugh.
"We've arrived, sir" our driver says.
"Good, good. Are you ready?"
"Ready" I say, taking a deep breath before we step out of the car.
As part of all the media events the national football team is doing before they travel to Canada for the World Cup, we are meeting with them to say our farewells and also give them a little something to remember the occasion. And when I say we, I mean my dad, King Philip of England, and I, Princess Eleanor, heir to the throne.
"Welcome to St. George's Park, your Royal Highness" Gareth Southgate says when we walk in. "The boys are waiting over here."
"Wonderful" my dad says. "How are they feeling?"
"Ready. They can't wait to get on that plane."
After a few words from my dad and the gaffer, it's time to give the players that little something we had for them: a shirt with their number and the name of all the players who have previously worn it.
"We'll do one each, ok?" my dad tells me.
"Ok."
We start calling each player, congratulating them and posing for a photo, everything going smoothly... until it doesn't. Until I froze in place when I find myself looking at the most beautiful blue eyes I have ever seen.
"Your Royal Highness" he says with a smile as breathtaking as his eyes.
"Hi" I reply, my voice sounding all squeaky.
"I was looking forward to meeting you."
"Me? Really?"
"Yes, ma'am. My mum is a big fan of yours, she says you are the best royal."
"Oh, she's too kind" I giggle. I giggled. Why did I do that? What am I, 12?
"Should we pose for the photo?"
"Uh?" I ask, still looking at him. How is he real? How is it possible that I had never noticed that Declan Rice was this handsome?
"The photo, Eleanor" my dad says behind me.
"Oh, yes, sorry. The photo" I repeat, trying to compose myself a bit.
"Big smiles... Perfect" the photographer says.
"Thank you" Declan smiles, taking the box where the shirt is, our fingers touching slightly but making me feel electricity through my whole body. And call me crazy, but judging by the way he looked at me when it happened, he felt the same.
Once we are done giving all the shirts, Southgate gives my dad and I a tour of St. George's Park, but I can't stop thinking about Declan. About his eyes, his smile, about the way that small touch made me feel. I still don't know how I managed to keep going, to be honest.
When we walk outside, some players are practicing free kicks on the training pitch, Declan among them.
"Eleanor, why don't you show these boys how it is done?" my dad says.
"What?"
"We all saw you training with the lionesses, ma'am. That right foot of yours can do things" Mount chuckles.
"But I'm not wearing the right shoes."
"C'mon, ma'am" Southgate insists.
"Ok, then. But if I end up breaking a window, or worse, my ankle... it is your fault" I say, making them all laugh.
"Ready, Rambo?" Rashford asks before shooting.
"Give me your best!" Ramsdale shouts.
"That was so good" my dad says when Rashford scores. "Your turn now, darling."
"Ma'am" Declan says, giving me a ball.
"Thank you" I reply, trying to avoid looking at him, my cheeks already getting hot. "Don't go soft on me, Ramsdale."
"I won't, ma'am" he says with that big smile of his.
"See?" I sigh after shooting and sending the ball far far away. "Wrong shoes."
"Try again" Declan says, putting another ball in front of me. "I know you can do it."
"Will you pay for the window I'm going to break?"
"And I'll carry you to the infirmary myself if you break your ankle" he smirks, making me feel funny things on my stomach, and my father clear his throat behind us.
"Ok" I whisper, trying to forget the thought of his arms around me and taking a deep breath, focusing only on the ball.
"I knew it!" Declan says next to me when the ball goes in, Ramsdale not being able to stop it.
"You believed in me more than I did."
"I've seen you play before, I know what you can do."
"You have?"
"Yep. When you were like... 15? You played a charity game in my area and my mum took the whole family to watch you. I remember that you scored and amazing free kick."
"Oh, wow. I don't know if I remember that day" I chuckle. "I'll have to check the photos back home. I may even see you."
"I didn't look this good, tho. You may not recognize me" Declan says with a cheeky smile.
"But you still had the same eyes, didn't you? Those are hard to miss."
"Thank you, ma'am" he replies, his cheeks turning a dark shade of pink. Did I just make him blush? Me? Oh, wow. "I also remember that I didn't expect a princess to play football like that."
"What did you expect, then?" I ask, raising a brow.
"I don't know" he shrugs. "Maybe that you enjoyed other type of sports, like cricket or that thing with the horses."
"Equestrianism."
"That one, yes."
"Posh sports."
"Yeah..." he chuckles, scratching the back of his head and making the muscles on his arm pop. Why did he have to do that when I was finally acting normal around him, maybe even flirting? Now I'm stuck again just looking at him.
"We must go, Eleanor."
"What?"
"It's time for us to go, the boys have to train" my dad says.
"Oh, yes, of course."
"It was really nice meeting you, ma'am" Declan says.
"You too."
"See you in Canada?"
"See you in Canada" I repeat
"Great" he says with a big smile that makes whatever I'm feeling on my stomach be more intense. "Until then."
"Bye" I say, definitely smiling like an idiot.
âââââââââââââ Â Â Â
"That was nice, wasn't it?" my dad says once we are back in the car.
"Really nice, yes."
"Fell in love with any of them?"
"What?" I say, feeling my cheeks getting hotter and hotter by the second.
"I was only joking, relax."
"Oh" I reply with a nervous laugh.
"You are a clever girl. You know that you can't fall in love with a football player."
"Why not? You married mum and she was a journalist."
"One with a degree and a PhD, a serious career. These boys have nothing beyond money and being good looking. At least some of them" he chuckles.
"These days more and more players are studying while playing, tho" I point out.
"Still, it isn't enough. You are meant to be the next Queen of England. You must marry accordingly."
"Dad, this isn't the 15th century."
"I know, I know. But there are certain things that must still be kept in mind. So when you travel to Canada to support the team, do not fall for any of them, ok?" he laughs.
"Ok" I say, rolling my eyes and looking out the window, thinking that it may be a bit late for that.

JAYNE HAHAHAHAHAHAHA THANK YOU THANK YOU all of these questions are thought provoking im gonna try to answer as best i can
---
1. favourite place in your country?
BICOL
omg. okay so you know i went home last year. part of the itinerary was going back to my dad's province in bicol. and, no joke, the 2 days i spent there literally made me hurt about migrating to australia, and not making an effort to go back often (circumstances about this was always out of my hands, but i don't know, i saw it as a "if there's a will, there's a way" kind of angle), and not remembering as much about the place as i felt i should (again, out of my control like i was super young during the times i went) and everything was beautiful, and peaceful, and genuinely i felt hiraeth.
when i was driving around with my aunt and uncle, we went through the general area of where their old house used to be and it was a place i kind of grew up in, having spent a lot of time there during my younger years. i could not remember anything, which made sense because it's been years, but what really threw me was how normal sized everything was sdlkfjldfskj back when i was younger everything was tall and big and gigantic, but yeah now it's just normal town-sized things. that really threw me off lol.
4. favourite dish specific for your country?
i've always loved puto bumbong??? i dont know what it is about it; i think it's the toppings they add that makes it super delicious. like i know it's "seasonal" but dude if i can eat that all day every day 365 days im sold.
special mention to scramble omfg that shit was bomb when i was a kid. i don't know if that's because it's really good or if i've put the food on a childhood pedestal lmao.
but just kakanin in general and those really rice flour-based snacks in general so love puto, love kutsinta, love biko, all the rice/rice flour-based things.
ALSO SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO RICE JUST WRAPPED IN BANANA LEAVES WITH THE ULAM ON TOP OMFG FOR SOME REASON THAT JUST MAKES EVERYTHING TASTE SUPER GOOD???
im hungry now ffs.
5. favourite song in your native language?
ohhh like bruh opm??? lskdjlksjfljldfs or folk songs?
i genuinely have no real answer with this one lksdfjldsjlk im terrible with favourite music-type questions.
i guess the closest is "ang huling el bimbo" by eraserheads because that song just haunts me whenever i remember it exists dslkfjsdl and it haunts me now and i just came back from watching and singing along to the music video lol 7. three words from your native language that you like the most?
kilig, masiram, tampo 10. most enjoyable swear word in your native language?
ohhh not in tagalog/filipino.
not necessarily enjoyable, bicolano swears are hardcore because when i hear family say it, it's usually in anger lol. also the fact that most of the swears i've heard refers to genitalia makes it extra vulgar.
like buli/buray, which means kitty (iykyk). 13. does your country (or family) have any specific superstitions or traditions that might seem strange to outsiders?
i guess "tabi, tabi po" (excuse me) is one?
so we say that when we venture into places where spirits may be dwelling. i suppose seeing a person very loudly say "tabi, tabi po" while entering a random place may seem strange to outsiders? i remember doing it all the time when i was younger so it was normal to me then, but also still normal to me now.
whether spirits exist or not, i reckon it's always good to show and express respect to any place you enter. 27. favourite national celebrity?
omfg. okay.
well when i was much younger rico yan was a huge crush of mine. favourite national celebrity??? can we still count sandara park dklfjlsdjf like look i was there with the whole nation when she became pambansang krung-krung of the philippines but also they made fun of the poor girl so i was rooting for her. like i watched her in star circle quest with hero and joross and roxanne like, and this is gonna sound weird, they had that vibe of the hp golden trio where you kinda grew up with them BUT NOT REALLY BECAUSE STAR CIRCLE QUEST SEASON 1 WAS IN 2004 AND IT WASNT A WHOLE CINEMATIC/LITERARY SERIES.
#replies#jayne#not from the us ask#sorry for the emotional tmi#but yeah look#this is great im reall happy i did this#thanks jayne! :D

TC!dad!JK
park yeonjin, your husbandâs childhood best friend is surprisingly beautiful. sheâs petite, a little taller than you, and as he described, has brown hair with green-brown hazel eyes. her lips are a little plump and her skin is clear and smooth, unlike your face thatâs littered with little beauty marks along the cheek, nose, and lips of your face.
had she not have said anything, you would have mistook yeonjinâs son for her brother thanks to her youth. clearly those 20+ years apart have treated her well, its treated all of you well, but sheâs gorgeous. had she have been a concubine like jungkook joked about, youâre sure the beautiful woman would have been competition. even now as you stand parallel from yeonjin and hyejin, you feel as though youâre competing against her.
since yeonjin actually speaks to you with some respect, you decide to be a good hostess and instruct maids to bring glasses of water and snacks for your guests while jungkook converses with the woman who is in shock to see how much jungkook has grown.
no longer was he the shy kid who could barely utter a word to her, now he was known amongst many nations as the conqueror who impressively led his country through a war that only lasted for 9 months and came out victorious. although heâs conquered many of those who proposed to rage war, nothing was as impressive as taking down an army bigger than his own. then was rewarded with the birth of twin girls for his courage, leadership, and determination to see you again, to be there for you.
it all feels and looks sweet when you watch jungkook interact with yeonjin who came back to âcatch upâ with him. to keep hyunjin from dying of boredom, you introduce him to your son, jinseoul who doesnât mind showing his new friend around the palace. it isnât until you return after introducing both of your boys that youâve begun feeling like a third wheel as you watch the hazel-eyed woman laugh with your husband.
âi saw the royal garden. itâs beautifulâ
âi did itâ you butt in on purpose but yeonjin doesnât roll her eyes, she doesnât glare at you, she just looks at you like you did a magic trick.
âyou did an amazing job. it feels as though the palace has gotten more colorful since youâve been hereâ great. now you feel bad for sort of disliking his friend but you canât help but get a bad feeling on her.
meanwhile, as jinseoul continues to show hyunjin around thereâs something else that catches his eye or rather someone.
âh-hey, jinseoul?â
âyeah?â
âwho is that?â
âoh, thatâs my sister ae-chaâ
âsheâs beautifulâ
âeasy there, man. my dad would literally kill you if he heard you say that out loudâ jinseoul says but hyunjin is too caught up to even hear what the prince said. jeon ae-cha, jeon jungkookâs first daughter out of five and absolutely divine. maybe now isnât the right time but he will make a move on her soonâŠ
~đ«§
Itâs been hours since you three have been talking together, and even though it was just mostly him and Yeonjin, Jungkook always manages to include you in the conversation as well, because he knows it must be awkward for you to be around two people who have known each other since their childhood.
He is so amazed at how well you carry yourself around other women, who know him and youâre not insecure unlike him because heâs the most insecure partner in the world, Jungkook loves you so much.
But again, you have no reason to be insecure. Heâs yours and heâs always going to be yours. âYn? Why donât you hang out in the garden for a little while? while I go check on our boys?â he smiles, looking into your eyes and,
Yeonjin feels like youâre the most luckiest woman in the world, especially with the way heâs so in love with you. Itâs so clear anyone can see it from miles away that the Great King is head over heels for you.
And he doesnât even try to hide it or be subtle about his affection for you, she canât help but wonder- how can someone be in love with someone after having nine children with them and after being together for so many years?
But the truth is that how could he ever get bored of a woman like you?
She feels a little out of place, and she is just constantly looking at you because youâre beautifulâ you look very young for your age, you donât look like youâve had nine pregnancies at all, it was hard for her to believe at first you both have nine children together.
Because that is just insane, in the history of Goryeo- no emperor or king has ever had more than two children with their queen. A lot of them have fathered many many illegitimate children with their consorts, concubines and even court ladies and maids, butâŠ
Jungkook looks at you like youâre the only woman in the world. Itâs like he only sees you. âWowâŠ. Youâre both very much in love.â She canât help but comment when she sees his arms constantly wrapped around you.ïżŒ
When would obviously feel jealous of your relationship with him? it is astonishing because everyone knows his reputation as the ruthless conqueror, but if they saw what she is seeing right now? They would call him pathetic.
He pays so much attention to you, his dark eyes are always so sparkly whenever they are on you, and heâs so caring and attentive towards you.
Heâs like every womanâs dream. Youâre very lucky.
It doesnât help because youâre beautiful too, you have glow on your face and your beauty marks are gorgeous, your hair looks great and your innocent eyes are definitely what mustâve caught his eyes.
Frankly, you donât even look like you gave birth recently- TO TWINS?!
Jungkook used to talk about this one girl to her all the time and maybe she was you. You fit the description of her really well.
âOkay my love⊠Iâll take my leave and check on the children.â Jungkook coos, kissing your cheek as he finally, and reluctantly leaves you alone with her.
As Jungkook walks around the palace, he is still nervous because he doesnât know why sheâs here, and he has no idea about her husband, Jungkook is deeply busy with this thoughts when he spots Jinseoul and Hyunjin near the stables.
He walks towards the young men, âHey boys!â
âwhat are you guys talking about?â

On Apocalyptic Meteorological events and other little oddities
A few days ago I saw a total solar eclipse. It was only one of the surreal and impossible to process moments Iâve had this week. The sky grew dark and the air got cold and the wind picked up and the world seemed as if it stopped moving to look at what was happening. People all over stood outside and stared up at the sky and birds congregated in trees and street lights around the park came on in the middle of the day. This is what it was like when you died wasnât it? The world grew dark and cold for a moment. We all felt dark and cold for a moment. But then the sun came back out and the dead rose and the birds started flying again and the street lights turned off in the park and everything was different. How funny that a moment in a shadow feels like the world is ending. How foolish to think we are special because we witnessed something that happens all the time where we donât bother to look. How small to be human. How strange to be anything at all.
Your creation is incredible and awe inspiring and beautiful and wonderful. Thank you for this opportunity. Thank you for this world.
Today I took my exit exam for school. I am officially allowed to graduate. I scored in the 95th percentile nationally, I think. Iâm not 100% sure but I think thatâs really good! I told my mom but she didnât really care. She did a good job at responding as excitedly as she could, but she doesnât feel much of anything positive lately. Itâs not her fault, but I was kind of bummed because I felt so excited when I left the testing center and it dissipated so quickly when I told her. I didnât tell Hunter because I didnât want him to feel like I was bragging, or feel dumber because of what a know-it-all I am. I might tell my friends, I donât know. Itâs hard to know what to tell who. I did tell my dad though, and he said he was proud of me and that he was continually impressed with my abilities. My dad fails me just like all humans fail each other, but he really is one of the best people in my life at making me feel loved.
Tonight Iâve been having a hard time pushing away feelings of fear toward losing my parents. I love them terribly, and if I lose them I just feel like I wonât be able to go on. I know Iâll be okay, I always am, you always make sure I am. But days like today make me scared of the day when I canât just text my dad and tell him about my good grade or pop over to my momâs with Starbucks for a quick lunch before I head to Hunterâs. It makes me cherish this time Iâm in even though itâs hard, and while I yearn for things to be better I fear for a future when they are not the same anymore. Thank you for giving me my family. Help me cherish them without holding them too tightly. Help me have peace in knowing Iâll have them exactly as long as Iâm supposed to.
Graduating is real now. Iâm really graduating from college. Iâm really ending my time as a student, a role Iâve had most of my life. In a few days my cap and gown will arrive. A few days after that I will leave for Chicago to present my last research project with Dr. Drouinâs lab. A few days after that I will attend my very last lectures and take my final exams. I will hit âsubmitâ on my last assignments, and say goodbye to my classmates for the last time. The next week I will walk through a sea of other graduates in a huge echoey room and hear everyone talk about what an accomplishment this is, even though I donât feel like I did anything anyone else couldnât do. And then a new chapter begins and an old one ends. I will start working at the Mirro Center, and start planning for my next steps to grad school, and start feeling that familiar unfamiliarity of a new place and new people. Everything that will be easy eventually will be hard first. I will carry a heaviness in my heart and a lump in my throat even as I feel accomplished and excited. So it goes.
I met James in real life the other day. Heâs real! Iâm real! We met in Plymouth and it was so surreal. We got drinks at a plant cafe, walked through the park, walked all over town, toured a museum, got lunch at a bar and grill, walked some more, went through an antique shop, drove to Kroger, and then I drove back to town and spent the evening with Hunter and Rachel and Kyle and John and Lily. It was a beautiful perfect spring day and we explored a tiny town which is one of my favorite things to do. It felt like spending time with anyone really. Like being with Rachel or Carissa. It felt nice and easy and happy. He questioned why I stopped in the middle of the grass and it made me realize heâs never known that I always look for four leaf clovers. Heâs never had to know before now. i realized how I take for granted that my friends know things about me. Hunter always waits patiently while I hunt for clovers, and usually he helps me look. I love that he knows me. I got to see all the little mannerisms that I didnât know James had and he got to see mine. I canât believe Iâve known him nearly four years. What a blessing to have a friend.
Itâs been beautiful outside lately. Itâs my favorite season now. April brings me a feeling of refreshment and clarity and joy that no other time of year knows how to match. Of course there is the constant stress of being constantly busy and the unrelenting anxiety of things nearing an end, but thatâs just how it be sometimes. It has been warm and sunny lately, and the plants are starting to grow colorful and the animals are starting to wake up and the world is coming back to life and so am I. I didnât know if I would make it to another spring. I always do. I donât know why I always feel like Iâll never survive. Thank you for the warm weather. For the sunshine. For life and rebirth.

Summaryâ Springtime generally brings new beginnings, but being stuck in a small town all your life means nothing ever changes. Finally, something, or rather, someone, stumbles into your life. Can this shy boy manage to change your life forever?
A/Nâ This beautiful banner was made by @dee-ehnâ! Please let me know what you think of this fic! Hope you guys enjoy~
It all started on a beautiful spring day. Something had convinced you to go on an unprecedented early morning walk for some reason.Â
The morning air was cold but crisp. You were bundled up in your favorite sweater, and the scarf that your grandmother knitted for you was wrapped snugly around your neck. Normally you would be immersed in your headphones, but since today was already unusual you decided to forgo the music.Â
You walked along the banks of the stream that flowed next to your neighborhood. This particular stream held nothing but fond memories. You grew up here with all the other kids. During the summer breaks, youâd play out here from morning to nightfall. This was the place where you saw your first fireflies, and where you won your first fist fight.Â
You stopped to sit on the grassy hill that ran alongside the banks, relishing in nostalgia as you took in a breath of fresh air. Everything is so different now. Everyone moved away to pursue their careers or to go to a big university. You were the only one left. Your parents urged you to go to college, but you refused. Who else would help run the bakery?Â
As much as you hated to see it, your parents were growing old. Managing the family bakery was getting harder on them. You were such a huge help to them since you basically managed all of the front-of-house work. They worked diligently in the kitchen every day to create the best baked goods in town.Â
You had always dreamt of leaving this small town. Youâve fantasized about attending a big university in the middle of a bustling city since you were a little kid. Unfortunately, that canât happen now. You canât leave your parents or the bakery behind. You held no resentment though, you loved it. Being an only child was a bit lonely at times, but your parents made you feel loved no matter what.
You laid on the grassy hill, watching the clouds roll by. Maybe life was better this way. It was simple, and you always knew what to expect. Day in and day out, the routine was always the same.Â
Everything changed on that day. That was the fateful day that you ran into him. Or rather, he ran into you.Â
âGood morning, ____! Where were you this morning? Why werenât you answering your phone?â your concerned mother asked when you returned home.
âMorning mom. I went on a walk and forgot my phone I guess. Sorry about that. I ended up laying on the hill by the stream,â you replied as you sat at the breakfast table.
Living with bakers was probably one of the biggest blessings in your life. Every meal smelled delectable and you had access to all the fresh goodies you could desire.Â
âWow, you were awake before we were? What a surprise. Here, tell me what you think of this loaf,â your dad set it in front of you.
You tossed a piece of bread into your mouth. The taste was savory to say the least. It was your fatherâs signature banana bread loaf, only this time with a small twist.Â
âWhyâd you take out the walnuts? Itâs still delicious though,â you said, devouring another piece.
âWell so many customers complain about having nut allergies now. I thought we could sell more if we take them out! You think we can sell this?â he asked eagerly.
âI think this will be our newest best seller!â you happily replied, âIâm gonna go open up the shop. See you guys soon,â you kissed them each on the cheek before taking your leave.
The bakery was down the street from your house, so the commute was only about 5 minutes even if you walked slowly. You brought your phone with you this time, so you were jamming out to your music, oblivious to the outside world. You were so out of it, that you didnât have time to react to the person quickly rounding the corner.
One moment you were walking to work, the next you were knocked onto the cold hard ground. Your assailant fell on top of you, and you soon locked eyes with him. It was as if time stood still for a moment. He was the most beautiful boy youâve ever seen. His eyes were wide with concern, and for a moment, you swore you saw stars twinkling within them.Â
It took a second to register that this stranger was on top of you, in a compromising position no less. Youâve never been this close to a boy since...well it has been a while. Your legs were intertwined and his nose was only inches from yours.Â
âOh my god, Iâm so sorry! I didnât see you until the last second,â the boy apologized as he scrambled to get off of you.Â
As he helped you up, you reassured him that you were fine. You laughed off the incident and took the boy by surprise. You had the most angelic laugh heâd ever heard. He stood awkwardly gazing at you, before you asked him if he was okay.Â
âI-Iâm fine! Iâm glad youâre okay. I apologize again for being so careless,â he bowed.
âIâm also at fault! I wasnât paying attention either. So shame on both of us,â you smiled to show him you were joking, âEnjoy the rest of your day, donât run into anyone else!â
And with that, you parted ways. You forgot about the stranger as the morning rush piled into the bakery.Â
Despite being located in a small town, your parentâs were nationally renowned bakers. The bakery was always busy. That was part of why you loved it so much, you were never bored. The regular customers were your favorite. Most of the townsfolk had been coming to the bakery since you were little.Â
âIs this banana bread new?â Mrs. Park, the local florist, asked.
âTechnically, yes. Itâs the exact same recipe but without the walnuts,â you replied.
âPerfect! Iâm not too fond of walnuts but I adore your parentsâ banana bread,â Mrs. Park beamed, handing you a loaf along with other goods she picked up.
âHowâs Jimin?â you asked as you rang her up.
âOh heâs doing well! He loves it out there in the big city. At first, I was terrified of letting him go. Heâs just always been so passionate about dancing, I finally had to cave in. He recently auditioned to be part of some fancy dance crew, and he got in! Can you believe it?â Mrs. Park began to dote on her son.
âThatâs amazing! Iâm happy for him,â you smiled.
âYou know, ____, Jimin is still single. You two would be perfect together--â
âLong distance relationships are hard, Mrs. Park,â your mother interrupted her, swooping in to save the day. Thank god. You wouldnât have known how to react.Â
âShe could always move out to the city to be with him!â Mrs. Park retorted, not picking up on the awkward situation she created.Â
âI could never leave the bakery,â you responded quickly.
âAh, yes thatâs right. You have such a good daughter, Mrs. _____. Jimin never took any interest in taking over the family business. Iâm jealous of you!â Mrs. Park said to your mom.
After what seemed like an eternity, Mrs. Park finally left. You were fond of her, but she never knew when to stop talking. Jimin was a good friend of yours growing up. You never wanted to admit that you had a huge crush on him. You figured it wouldnât have mattered anyway, since he was so fixated on moving out.Â
The morning rush had died down. You took this opportunity to restock and tidy things up before the afternoon rush. The store bell rang, indicating the arrival of another customer.
âWelcome in! Iâll be with you shortly,â you called out from behind the counter.Â
âNo worries, thanks!â the customer yelled back.
Once finished, you popped up with a bright smile on your face. Your parents taught you to always greet the customers with a smile as soon as they walk in.Â
However, the customer wasnât facing your direction. He was looking at the baked goods that aligned the opposite wall. You patiently waited for him to make his selection. He kept walking back and forth, eyeing all of the baked items. You left your station behind the counter and approached him.
âCan I help you with anything, sir?â you piped up behind him.
The man jumped back, startled.
âIâm sorry! I didnât mean to scare you,â you apologized.
âItâs okay! I didnât hear you at all. You must be some sort of ninja-- Oh itâs you!â the boy turned around to face you.
It was the gorgeous boy who ran into you earlier.Â
âHello again! I guess it was my turn to frighten you,â you joked.
âThatâs fair,â he nodded, âWhatâs the best thing here?â
âMmm thatâs hard for me to say, considering that I love them all. What kind of tastes and textures do you like?â your customer service persona kicked in.Â
âI like sweet things I guess? I like bananas tooâŠâ he trailed off.
âWe donât have any bananas in fruit form, but we do have killer banana bread,â you beamed.
âThat sounds good, but I donât really like nuts so--â
âThere are no nuts in our new recipe! You must be lucky, this is the first day that weâve started selling them. Want me to ring you up a loaf?â you interrupted him.
âOh no nuts? Okay, Iâll try it,â he agreed quietly.
âWould you still like to get something sweet as well?âÂ
âYeah, if thatâs okay,â he nodded timidly.
âOf course itâs okay! My personal favorite is our milk pudding bun. The pudding in the middle is pretty creamy plus the bread is unbelievably soft! If thatâs not for you, then we have a classic chocolate bun filled with, surprise surprise, chocolate. We also haveâŠâ you led the boy around the entire bakery.
You were too focused on recommending various breads to notice him stealing glances at you that lingered longer than normal. He patiently let you talk his ear off about the goodies.
âIâll go with the milk pudding bun,â he smiled shyly.
âThat was the first one! You shouldâve stopped me from rambling,â you huffed.
âI wanted to know my options. Plus you seemed pretty happy,â he added softly.
âAlright, letâs go check you out then,â you headed to the counter, âI havenât seen you before. What brings you to our little town?â you attempted to make conversation.
âMmm, to get away, I guess,â the boy said after a pause.
âAre you in some sort of trouble?â you leaned over the counter to whisper.
âKind of,â he whispered back.
âStay right here, I can call the police,â you frantically murmured as you whipped out your phone.
âNo no! Not like that,â he couldnât contain his laughter, âIâm a fine arts student. My main focus is photography, but lately I havenât been able to capture anything worth printing,â he explained.
âOhhh,â you said, feeling dumb, âThen why come to a town in the middle of nowhere? You wonât find much here.â
âTo an untrained eye, maybe so. But to a professional, beauty can be found anywhere,â he said proudly.
âThen why canât you find anything back home? And arenât you still a student?â you questioned.
âYou know, I was really hoping that youâd let me have that,â the boy deflated.
âAw, Iâm sorry! If you ever want to take photos of the beauty that is bread, youâre always welcome here,â you smiled.
âI might take you up on that offer,â he said as he grabbed the purchased goods, âWhatâs your name by the way?â
â____. Yours?â
âJeon Jungkook.â
âIâll see you around, Mr. Jeon Jungkook. Oh! And if youâd like a tour of the town, Iâd be more than happy to show you around,â you suggested.
âThat would be nice,â Jungkook pondered, âWhere can I find you?â
âIâm here every day. I get off at 3pm,â you answered.
âCool. Iâll drop by tomorrow, if thatâs okay?â
âSure! See you then!â you waved goodbye.
âWho was that?â your mother asked when the boy left.
âSome photography student that said he wanted to get away for some inspiration. I offered to give him a tour tomorrow after work,â you explained.Â
âDo you want me to come with you?â your dad offered.
âIâll be fine on my own, thanks,â you quickly turned him down.
You spent the next morning frantically flip flopping between outfits. Should you go with a pretty top paired with a skirt? Or perhaps keep it casual with a t-shirt and jeans? Or should you go with a simple dress? You know youâre supposed to be a tour guide, but you still wanted to look somewhat presentable. You settled for the dress. It gave off a âcute but not trying too hardâ type of vibe.Â
Time seemed to slowly drag on as you waited for Jungkook to return. You had already mapped out your route, making sure it was efficient (not like thereâs much to see anyway). You wanted to surprise him with a picnic at the end of the tour. Hopefully it could help show off the natural beauty of the forests and meadows that surrounded the town. As the clock approached 3pm, you began to wonder if springing a surprise picnic on a stranger was odd. Oh god, what if it was? You hadnât had much interaction with people your age once all your friends went off to live their own lives. Panic was starting to set in when the front bell chimed.
âHey! Iâm a little early, but I can wait around until youâre finished,â Jungkook greeted you. You noticed a fancy looking camera dangling around his chest.
âItâs all good! Business has been slow today, Iâve been bored,â you admitted.
âOh I see--â Jungkook was cut off.
âHi! Iâm ____âs mom. Did you like the bread you bought yesterday?â your mom materialized out of nowhere with a pan of fresh bread in her hands.
âIt was delicious! Better than anything I could get in the city,â Jungkook complimented.
âWhy did you batch a new batch? No one has come in after 1pm,â you aggressively whispered to your mom.Â
âI got bored,â she pouted, âHere, have one! On the house, think of it as a welcoming present to our town,â she motioned for Jungkook to take a fresh loaf off the tray.
Jungkookâs face lit up at the offer as he thanked her for the snack. His smile lingered as he took a bite, savoring the taste.
âYou must have some sort of good luck charm; youâre getting even more free food later,â you chuckled as you plopped a wicker basket onto the checkout counter.
âSweet,â he beamed.Â
You let out a small sigh of relief. It didnât seem like Jungkook was creeped out by the thought of eating with a stranger. With the basket in hand, you led Jungkook across the town. There truly wasnât much to see. Your familyâs bakery was in line with the rest of the townâs shops. You passed by the florist, the cafe, the grocery store, and the post office within the first 3 minutes just by walking down the street. You added in little personal stories with each business that you pointed out.Â
Jungkook paused by the flower shop, in awe of all the beautiful arrangements. His eyes scanned the outside displays, as if he was looking for something.Â
âNeed something specific, dear?â Mrs. Park asked her potential customer.Â
âDo you have Tiger flowers?â he inquired.
âTiger⊠No, but I can probably order some for you,â she offered.
âAh, thatâs alright. Iâm sorry to bother you,â Jungkook apologized before rejoining you.
âDid you wanna take a picture of that specific flower?â you asked him as you strolled along the sidewalk.
âYeah, itâs my birth flower,â he shyly nodded.
âOh nice! I donât know what my birth flower is, but yours sounds pretty. Ah, here is the town square. Over there is the courthouse/government building/boring stuff happens in there probably,â you said as you pointed out the building.
âThis is cool,â Jungkook examined a decrepit well that stood in front of the courthouse.
âI guess. I always thought it would be better if they replaced it with a big pretty fountain or something,â you mentioned as you looked down into the dark abyss of the well.
Jungkook said nothing as he began taking pictures of the well from various angles. You watched him frown at each picture he took before he tried to take another.Â
âMaybe you could take a picture looking into the well? I mean, youâd probably have to stand on it to get a full shot and your feet will be in it butâŠâ you suggested before realizing that you knew nothing about photography.
Jungkook immediately hopped onto the well, disregarding the loose pebbles that crumbled away under his weight. Pointing the camera directly down into the well, he snapped a couple of pictures. He didnât bother hopping off of the well before scrolling through the pictures he just took. You caught yourself staring at him, admiring his features. His eyebrows were furrowed in concentration, his lips were pursed, and the wind was blowing his bangs over his forehead ever so slightly. He really was a handsome boy, though he seemed to be completely unaware of it.Â
âHowâd it turn out?â you asked as he climbed down.
âNot bad actually. Better than the angles I took at first,â Jungkook smiled with approval, âIâll show you after I touch them up.â
âIâm excited to see! Also, this basically concludes the tour because everything else is residential stuff. Unless you wanna take pictures of random peopleâs homes,â you joked.
âIâm good. Is this where weâre eating? I kinda skipped lunch,â Jungkook looked at the wicker basket in your hand.
âNope! Iâm gonna take you somewhere special. Are you okay with a bit of light hiking?â
âSounds fun,â Jungkook grinned.Â
âPerfect! Now itâs your turn to lug this thing around,â you said as you handed him the deceptively heavy basket.Â
You took him to the outskirts of town, where nature was left untouched.
âIs this where all the cool kids have their picnics?â Jungkook asked as you led him down an old trail.
âAll the cool kids left this town a while ago, so I canât speak on their behalf. However, this is where I like to have my picnics so take that in whatever way you please,â you responded.
It was a sunny day on the verge of being too hot, but the densely wooded forest provided enough shade to make it comfortable. Your parents used to take you on walks in these woods when you (and they) were younger. Of course, now the hilly paths and loose soil would only wreak havoc on your parentsâ old knees. Youâve grown accustomed to exploring on your own. Bringing Jungkook along was a pleasant change.Â
âYou okay with eating here?â you suddenly stopped, pointing over to a field just off the trail.
âIâll eat anywhere, Iâm starving,â Jungkook quickly nodded.Â
âIâm fully aware of that; I could barely hear the birds chirping over the sounds of your stomach growling,â you teased.
An old tree that was large enough to cover up the entire picnic blanket with shade proved to be the ideal spot. Jungkook set down the wicker basket that you assigned to him earlier, eagerly waiting for you to finally open it.
âOn the menu today we have fruits as an appetizer, ham and cheese sandwiches in homemade croissants as the main course, and last but not least, chocolate buns for dessert,â you proudly showcased each item.
âI never knew bread could taste so heavenly until I went to your bakery. Iâm happy I walked in,â Jungkook praised as he wolfed down his sandwich.
âItâs not my bakery, itâs my parentsâ bakery,â you corrected him as you ate the fruit.
âDonât you work in it nearly every day? I donât see how itâs not your bakery too,â Jungkook insisted.
âIâm not the one running the business,â you argued.
âYou seem to put in the same amount as work as them. Instead of baking, youâre handling all of the customers. Thatâs gotta count for something, right?â Jungkook persisted.Â
âFine, I guess you could say itâs a family bakery. Happy?â you huffed, clearly annoyed.
âHey, I wasnât trying to make you angry. Iâm sorry if I overstepped,â Jungkook apologized, putting his sandwich down, âI wanted to let you know how much I love your familyâs bread, thatâs all.â
âNo, itâs fine. Iâm sorry, I shouldnât have snapped at you. Itâs justâŠâ your trailed off as you gazed at the blue sky.
âI donât want to pry, but Iâm happy to sit here and listen,â Jungkook offered.Â
âI donât want to scare you away by dumping my personal issues on you,â you tried to lighten the mood.
âI donât think you could do that, ____,â Jungkook assured you.Â
Your eyes widened ever so slightly since he caught you off guard with his sincerity, but soon you gave him a soft smile.
âFine, since weâre just sitting here anyway,â you caved as you picked up your sandwich, âI wish I wasnât here anymore. Donât get me wrong, I love my parents and I love the bakery. I just wish I got to go to a big city somewhere and attend a real university. I donât know what Iâd study, I just know that I thought my life would be different by now,â you turn away from him to hide your watery eyes.
âItâs not all that great,â Jungkook responded after a short pause, âI came from a small town too. The only difference was that it was along a beach, not by a forest. Wait, the location doesnât matter,â he quietly scolded himself, âWhat Iâm trying to say is that I did get away from my hometown. I was so excited to finally be a city kid. I didnât realize how overwhelming it would be. Now look at me. Iâm a senior in college with no direction in life. Thatâs what I get for choosing a career with no job security,â he chuckled as he looked down at the camera around his neck.Â
âBut are you doing what you love?â you quietly asked.
âI think so. Are you?â he asked back.
âI think so,â you sighed, finally turning to look at him.Â
âI could always take you back to the city with me,â Jungkook flashed you a big bunny smile.
âDonât joke with me like that. I hate getting my hopes up,â you playfully punch him in the arm.Â
âIâm not joking!â he yelped in surprise.
The conversation turned into a more cheerful one. You both spoke about your dreams, both childhood and present day. It was fun talking with Jungkook as you both watched the clouds roll by without a care in the world.Â
âMaybe you could get some pretty shots of some wildlife while weâre out here,â you recommended when the conversation came to a pause.
âDo you want to model for me?â Jungkook asked.
âHuh?â his sudden proposal surprised you.
âItâs completely okay if you donât want to! Actually, just forget I said anything,â Jungkook looked down at the camera in his hands in a futile attempt to hide his flushed cheeks.Â
âJust tell me how to pose,â you smiled, already getting up.
âUh, just act natural,â he said awkwardly as you leaned against the thick tree trunk.
At first, you made some silly poses that made Jungkook laugh. To be honest, you only did that because you really didnât know how to pose next to the tree while making it look natural. Forcing a smile, you attempted to lean on the tree like as if it were another person.Â
âYou donât have to fake a smile,â Jungkook called from behind the camera.
âI donât know what to do!â you called back.
âAct natural!â
âHow do I do that?â
âNaturally!â
His response rewarded him a sarcastic eye roll, followed by a burst of laughter. Jungkook furiously clicked his camera as you laughed even harder. He praised you for âbeing in your natural stateâ as he took shots from ridiculous angles. He gave you a thumbs up after he was satisfied with the impromptu photoshoot.
âIs laughing until I canât breathe just me being in my natural state?â you asked playfully as you sat back down on the picnic blanket.
âIt was authentic, so I would say so. I wish I could capture sound too, your laugh is so cute,â Jungkook said nonchalantly as he scrolled through the photos.
His eyes widened as soon as he realized what he said. He opened his mouth to try and take it back, or at least cover it up. He looked over at you shyly, only to see that you were digging out dessert from the basket. He let out a sigh of relief. Thankfully, you didnât hear him.Â
âHow were the pictures?â you asked, scooting to sit beside him after handing him the dessert.
âSee for yourself,â he proudly showed you.
You were amazed by his talent. Even without editing, the photos looked like they were ready to be submitted into a contest. Everything looked so perfect. Your smile was genuine, the lighting was optimal, and your hair looked surprisingly good. You applauded him for his talent, to which he bashfully denied by saying he was still such an amatuer. You both finally dug into the desserts.Â
âThese chocolate buns were amazing,â Jungkook licked his lips after he finished it.
âTheyâre my personal favorite! Theyâre also the best things that I can make on my own,â you winked at him as you finished yours.
âYou made these?â Jungkookâs doe eyes filled with awe.
âYep! Donât act so surprised,â you pouted.
âSorry, itâs just that you told me your parents bake everything. These were really good! Probably the best things Iâve had since--oh wait. You have a little something,â Jungkook leaned forward to wipe the corner of your mouth with his thumb.Â
You both froze for a second, in shock of this intimate gesture. Jungkookâs mouth opened to apologize, but you stopped him before he had the chance. Without thinking about it, you put your mouth around his thumb. You sucked on it for a second before you snapped back to reality. You started apologizing profusely the instant his thumb left your mouth.Â
âItâs okay! I shouldnât have touched you in the first place,â Jungkook shied away from you, refusing to look you in the eyes.Â
âI donât know what came over me,â you apologized as you grabbed his hand.
Jungkook looked at you with an embarrassed expression the moment you held his hand in yours. At first you didnât realize why he was so embarrassed, you were the one sucking his thumb. But then, you noticed Jungkook sheepishly resting his other hand in his lap.
âJungkook,â you said sweetly.
âYes?â he answered, his eyes averting yours once more.Â
âDo you want me to do it again?â
âHuh?â he looked back at you with disbelief.Â
You made a bold move as you moved to straddle his lap, each leg settling beside his waist. You brought his hand up to your mouth and batted your eyes innocently.
âLike this,â you say before licking his pointer finger.Â
Jungkook gulped while slowly nodding his head, giving you permission to continue. His eyes stayed glued on you as you wrapped your lips around his finger. You dragged your flattened out tongue from the base to the tip. You then reversed this motion, but instead only using the tip of your tongue. You began to work on his middle finger as well. It was hard to fit his long fingers in your mouth, but youâre no quitter. Your tongue weaved between his fingers, adequately coating them with your saliva.
Jungkookâs breaths quickened the longer you went on. You felt a bulge grow between your thighs as you straddled him. Perhaps wearing a dress was a great idea after all. Your hips began to move on their own as you slowly grinded on Jungkook.Â
â____âŠâ Jungkook moaned quietly when you daringly took three fingers into your mouth.
Rubbing your clothed pussy against his hard crotch spurred you on even more. Drool was dribbling down Jungkookâs arm and your chin, but neither of you cared. It just made you look more erotic to him. His other hand was on your hip to help you maintain a rhythm. You opened your eyes to make contact with his as you suckled his fingers. Thatâs all it took to make him come undone.
He quickly pushed you off of him as he cried out. You were both too shocked to say anything for a few seconds. Jungkook seemed too embarrassed to look you in the eyes again, his cheeks bright red.
âJungkook, I--â you started to apologize.
âYou probably think Iâm pretty lame huh? Cumming in my pants like some sort of middle schooler,â he looked down in defeat.Â
âWhat? No, of course not!â you disagreed.
âDonât lie,â Jungkook refused to believe you.
âJungkook, that was honestly the hottest thing Iâve ever done. What we just did was hotter than when I was actually having sex,â you tried to cheer him up.Â
âYouâre not lying?â Jungkook finally looked up at you with sad puppy dog eyes.
âI swear Iâm not. I could help you clean it up, if youâd like,â you offered.Â
âI think that would make me feel worse. Just hand me some napkins and Iâll go take care of it myself,â he declined.
You packed everything up while you waited for Jungkook to return. He discreetly threw away the ball of used napkins into the designated trash bag, praying to god that you werenât looking.Â
The walk back was quiet and awkward. Neither of you knew what to say. You were horrified with how you acted; youâve never been so bold before. Jungkook was ashamed of cumming before he had the chance to do anything to you. He felt so pathetic.Â
âIâm sorry for making you so uncomfortable, Jungkook,â you finally apologized.
âAre you kidding? You think I would cum that fast if I was uncomfortable?â Jungkook looked at you with incredulity, âIâm the one who should be sorry. Iâm disgusting and came in my pants while you did all the hard work.â
âYouâre not disgusting at all, Jungkook. I enjoyed it too. I canât remember the last time I was that horny,â you laughed.
All the tension in the air had disappeared. Jungkook bounced back to being his cheery self. The conversation went back to normal as you brought him back to the bakery. You hugged him goodbye and were about to leave when he caught your hand.
âThank you so much for the tour. I know weâve only known each other for a day but... would you like to go on a date with me?â Jungkook asked with a hopeful look in his eyes.
âNo,â you said firmly, watching his shoulders fall, âIâd love to go on a date with you,â you smirked.
âYou jerk!â Jungkook gasped.Â
You couldnât help it, he was too easy to tease. After working out the details, it was decided that he would come pick you up on Friday night.Â
Jungkook took you to basically the only restaurant in town (that wasnât the cafe). It was a family run Italian eatery, and it took Jungkook by surprise.
âIs everyone in this place a master chef or something? This is delicious!â he praised as he ate his pasta.
âI guess itâs the authenticity of family recipes? You probably eat at more chain restaurants while youâre in the city,â you shrugged as you twirled noodles around your fork.
The date went on pleasantly. Jungkook wanted to know as much about you as you did him. The conversations you had were lively and fun; there was never a dull moment with him. Something about him just automatically clicked with you.
âWhatâs your favorite thing to photograph?â you asked.
âI like taking pictures of landscapes and buildings. Thatâs why I was super excited about going to a university in the city. Itâs a lot easier than taking pictures of people! Unfortunately, thatâs where the money is right now,â he explained.
âYou donât like taking pictures of people?â
âNot really, no,â he answered bluntly.
âThen why did you ask me to model for you?â you were genuinely curious.
Jungkook froze in his seat. He took a long sip of his drink before answering you.Â
âFor practice, I suppose,â he said softly.Â
âIâm happy I was able to help then,â you smiled, thinking nothing of it.Â
Jungkook seemed grateful that you didnât press for more details, and was soon coaxed out of his shy shell once the topic of anime came around. You were happy that he took you out on a proper date, you hadnât been on one in so long.
He walked you back under the pale moonlight. You were admiring the twinkling stars when you realized that Jungkook hadnât said anything in a while. His hand awkwardly brushed against yours when you first left the restaurant, but you didnât think much of it. Jungkook seemed to be thinking hard about something as he walked alongside you. You were going to say something when the back of his hand brushed against yours again. He instantly pulled away and uttered a small âsorryâ.
âWhatâs wrong, Jungkook?â you were worried now, you thought the date went well.Â
âNothingâŠ,â his voice trailed off as he looked away.
You interlocked his pinky with yours without a word. Jungkook looked over at you with surprise, but said nothing. He admonished himself for not committing to hold your hand, but he was happy with this too. In fact, he thought it was cuter than actual hand holding.
You arrived in front of your house. Bidding Jungkook goodnight, you went in for a hug. Jungkook also went in for a hug, but he leaned the same way you did. In a quick bumble, your lips grazed the corner of Jungkookâs, causing you to jump back. You stood in Jungkookâs arms, looking away in embarrassment. He brought up one of his hands to cup your cheek, forcing you to look back at him. His eyes sparkled under the moonlight as he gazed into yours.Â
Slowly, you found yourself leaning forward. Jungkook met you in the middle, his lips finding yours. It was a tender kiss, sweet and soft. You broke it off after a couple seconds to giggle, but Jungkook pulled you back into it. He kissed you gently, yet with so much passion. You reciprocated his affection as your fingers intertwined with his hair, deepening the kiss.
He finally pulled away, smiling back at you. To be honest, you wish it lasted longer. However, you knew you would have had a hard time controlling yourself if it did.
âThank you for dinner,â you thanked him with a soft voice.
âOf course, thank you for accompanying me,â he bowed like a gentleman and kissed your hand. You couldnât help but laugh at his gesture.
âToo much?â he tilted his head.
âDonât change a thing,â you continued to laugh.Â
All sorts of thoughts about Jungkook swam in your mind as you fell asleep that night.Â
Jungkook soon began to hangout with you every day. When he wasnât out trying to take pictures, he would be in the bakery keeping you company. Your parents teased him, saying that he better buy something or else theyâd kick him out, but they never did. In fact, your mom would always sneak him some freshly baked goods.Â
After work, you and Jungkook would spend even more time together. It didnât matter if you guys were exploring nature, cooling off in the stream, or just watching movies; you enjoyed it all. It was nice having someone to talk to for a change. Jungkook never asked to make plans with you, he just assumed you guys would hangout the next day when he said âsee ya tomorrow!â
You knew you had a crush on Jungkook, but you didnât know how he felt. Yes, he took you on a date. Yes, youâve kissed. Yes, you made in cum in his pants (not necessarily in that order). You were waiting on him to ask you to be his girlfriend. You didnât want to pressure him, especially when you knew that heâd be going back to school in the fall.Â
One day, much to your chagrin, Jungkook was helping you with inventory. You argued that he shouldnât work since he wasnât getting paid, but he smiled and replied that spending time with you was all the payment he needed. You were too flustered to argue after that.
âGreat, everything has been accounted for! Can you help me put this box back up there?â you asked him, nodding your head at a particularly high shelf that was out of your reach. You grabbed a step stool for him to make it easier.
Jungkook lifted up the heavy box of supplies with ease, and placed it back on the shelf. He looked down at you and smiled.
âWhat?â you cocked your head.
He said nothing as he leaned down and kissed your forehead, âYou just look cute from up here.â
You looked away as you blushed, not knowing what to say. Jungkook laughed as he got down from the step stool. He teased you about it for the rest of the day.
Days flew by as it was getting closer and closer to Jungkookâs departure. You let Jungkook decide on what to do during his last day there. He picked you up at the bakery after your shift. He wanted to take one last stroll with you around town before he had to leave. You were about to hug him goodbye when he invited you over, saying that he had a box of popcorn he needed help finishing.
After watching a couple movies, Jungkook had his arms around you as you rested your head on his shoulder. Cuddling had become a norm between you two. Jungkook suddenly nudged your side, causing you to shriek.
âSorry, just making sure you were still awake,â he giggled.
âI was, but now I definitely am,â you said as you returned the favor and tickled his sides.
It soon became a war of tickling as laughter erupted from both of you. Jungkook was just as ticklish as you were, making it a deadly battle. Before you knew it, you were straddling Jungkook, gripping both of his wrists in your hands. You both stared at each other as the laughter subsided, now replaced with heavy breathing.Â
âYou could easily knock me over, you know,â you said as you lowered your nose to his.
âWhat if I donât want to?â he whispered back.
He moved his head upwards to kiss you, catching you by surprise. You kissed him back, pushing him back down. You lowered your hips to rest on his hardened crotch. You let go of his wrists to help him take off his shirt before removing your own.Â
Once your lips connected again, Jungkookâs hands moved freely over your body, gently caressing your breasts. He treated you so tenderly, it made you even hornier. Your hands reached down to unzip his pants.
âIs this okay?â you paused to ask.
âOnly if you take off your pants too,â he answered with a smirk.
Soon enough you were both down to just your underwear. You palmed Jungkookâs erection, curious to see it. It already felt huge in comparison to your hands.
âI want to fuck you, _____,â Jungkook groaned as you kissed his neck.
âIâm glad we want the same thing. Where do you want me?â you cooed.Â
âLike this is fine,â he quickly answered.Â
He helped you take off his underwear, revealing his massive dick. Your pussy clenched at the sight of it. You wriggled out of your panties and positioned yourself on top of him.Â
âReady?â you asked.
Jungkook just nodded, his eyes wide with anticipation. He gulped as he watched you slowly lower yourself onto him, taking in each inch slowly. You moaned as he went deeper and deeper in you. You hadnât had sex in a long time (and admittedly it wasnât very good). Now, you were sopping wet and Jungkook was filling you up perfectly. Once you reached the base of his dick, you took your time going back up.
From the look on Jungkookâs face, he was in pure bliss. You continued to tease him as you fucked him slowly. You transitioned from taking his entire length to just swiveling around his tip, making him moan from the overstimulation. Jungkook dug his nails into your lower back, begging you to take all of him in again.
You leaned back over and peppered kisses along his chest and up his neck. Jungkook whimpered at the sensation, his breathing grew uneven. You giggled at him as you suckled on his neck, leaving wet kisses in your wake. Once you had enough of teasing him, you slammed back down onto him, and both your moans filled the room. Your hips began to move faster as you bounced on top of him. Jungkookâs grip on you tightened.Â
âI--Iâm gonna cum,â he panicked.
You immediately hopped off, hoping to edge him. He whimpered at the loss of your warm pussy, but your plan seemed to work. His eyes begged you to get back on top.Â
âNow itâs your turn to fuck me,â you demanded as you laid down on your back.
Jungkook complied and positioned himself between your legs. He bent over to kiss you while he pushed his cock back inside of you. He took his time at first, but then tried to pick up the pace. His movements were awkward and stiff, and his pelvis hit your hips in a way that you knew they were going to bruise later.
âJungkook, just relax,â you commanded.
Jungkook steadied his breathing and took your advice. He was finally able to find a rhythm and stuck to it. Luckily, it was the perfect rhythm for you as he continuously grazed your g-spot. Jungkook moaned with every stroke as your warm insides squeezed around him. You wrapped your legs around him, bringing him even closer. You looked up at him to see that the usual sweet star filled doe eyes of his had switched to a version of pure ecstasy as he gazed down at you with blown out pupils. The change was a little jarring, but also incredibly sexy when you realized the potential duality Jungkook could have. You pulled him into a deep kiss, tongues exploring foreign regions as he pounded into you.Â
âIâm gonna--,â his breath hitched.
âCum on me baby,â you panted as you furiously rubbed your clit, desperate to cum with him.
With perfect timing, Jungkook got to feel you cum around him for a few seconds before he had to pull out and finish all over your chest. He gave you a quick peck on the cheek before scurrying off to find something to clean you with.Â
He rested his head on your chest as you held him close. You were falling asleep when he said something.
âSorry, what did you say?â you asked him since you barely heard him.
âI am, well I guess was, a virgin,â Jungkook admitted.
âOh,â you tried to mask your surprise.
âI didnât wanna say anything. I mean, how lame is it that Iâm a college senior and have never gotten laid. Youâre probably surprised huh? Iâm not lying, I swear.â
âI am surprised, but only because you seem like ladies would be all over you. Youâre so handsome, funny, charming--â
âYes yes keep going,â Jungkook joked.
â--and a genuinely good guy. Plus I feel like being a photographer would help you meet a lot of pretty girls,â you reasoned.
âWhile all of that is true, the real reason is pretty embarrassing. Iâm...Iâve always been kinda scared of girls,â Jungkook sighed as you tried to suppress your laughter, âIâm not kidding! I always get so nervous around girls, I could never actually talk to them.â
âSo am I not a girl in your eyes?â you teased.
âYouâre a woman,â he answered cockily.
âShut up! I hope your first time was enjoyable. Thanks for entrusting me with your v card,â you laughed.
You both continued joking and laughing the night away until you fell asleep in each otherâs arms. While that night was enjoyable, it made Jungkookâs absence hurt more.Â
Life had sunk back into the same mundane routines once Jungkook left. Of course, he still kept in touch. He would text and video call you as often as he could. Heâd send you pictures of his newest shooting locations, and youâd always be the first person heâd show his finished products.Â
You loved witnessing Jungkookâs passion grow, he had a new spark in him that wasnât there before. With your encouragement as an extra shove, he applied to his dream job. He explained to you that it was with an agency that would send him to a random country where heâd work with a participating magazine company. You secretly envied him for even having the possibility of exploring the world.Â
Days and weeks started to blend together. Your parents insisted on having you help out more in the kitchen, presumably to get your mind off of Jungkook.Â
It was a weird fling you had with him. However, it also didnât seem like a fling. Most flings didnât still keep in touch in a long distance âfriendshipâ, or whatever it was you had. You were never officially dating, but it sure as hell felt that way. You cursed yourself for waiting for him to ask, you shouldâve just done it yourself. Of course, part of you felt like youâd just hold him back if you guys actually ended up dating.Â
These thoughts constantly swarmed your mind. Ironically, the only time you werenât thinking about your dilemma was when you were chatting with Jungkook. The end of the semester was quickly approaching, and you could tell that he was getting antsy. He hadnât gotten offers from anywhere that he applied. You could do nothing but give him hope but assuring him that someone somewhere will hire him.Â
You watched snow fall outside when you got a call.Â
âI GOT IN!!!â Jungkook exclaimed.
âWhat?! Where?!â you jumped up in excitement.
âMy top choice! The one where they send me to another country! Guess where Iâm going,â he sing songed.
âUmm⊠Italy?â
âClose! Iâm going to España,â he said with a spanish accent.
âThatâs amazing, Jungkook. Iâm so proud of you! I knew you could do it. When do you leave?â you asked.
âIn a week. God, Iâm so excited! Oh, my parents are calling. Iâll talk to you later?â
âOf course. Congrats again,â you cheered before he hung up.
Before you knew it, you were crying. You were honestly happy for Jungkook, but reality hit you. You were never going to be able to tell him that you loved him. You were never going to be with him, not while youâre stuck in this town. It sucked, but you had no choice but to accept that.Â
Two days had passed since that phone call. Jungkook was probably busy packing and working out minor details, so you stayed out of his way. You figured things would probably be like this from now on. Why would he bother talking to a small town girl while heâs out exploring the world?Â
You were restocking the milk puddings rolls when the front bell chimed.Â
âIâll be with you in a second,â you called out.
âNo worries, Iâll wait all day if I have to,â a familiar voice responded.
You dropped the rolls as you turned around with lightning fast speed. Jungkook stood at the doorway, beaming a big bunny smile at you. You ran to him, embracing him in a tight hug. He wrapped his arms around you and kissed your forehead.Â
âSurprise,â he smiled.
âWhat are you doing here?â you asked as you wiped tears from your eyes.
âI needed to see you. I was planning on coming back and surprising you even before I left. You didnât think Iâd leave without saying goodbye, did you?â he ruffled your hair, âOh, and those tiger flowers are beautiful,â he nodded over to the flower bouquet on the checkout counter.
âI got them because they reminded me of you,â you blushed, your ears turning red.
âDid I hear Jungkook?â you mom poked her head out of the kitchen, âOh my goodness! Honey look! Jungkook is back!â she called your dad.Â
Your parents came out to greet him. He explained everything to them, and they congratulated him.Â
âHow long will you be here? Arenât you leaving soon?â your dad inquired.
âI leave tomorrow night. I wish I could stay longer,â Jungkook answered solemnly.Â
â____ suddenly doesnât have to work until after youâve left,â your mom smiled fondly at you.
Your eyes lit up as you kissed your parents on the cheek to thank them. After grabbing your jacket, you took Jungkookâs hand and dragged him out. You both aimlessly walked around the town as you chatted. He went more in depth with the details of his job. He was most excited about capturing photos of the city. After looking up some pictures of the architecture, he immediately fell in love with Madrid.
Jungkook invited you over to watch some of the short films he worked on over the past semester. While they were just videos of his friends with no plot, you could feel their friendship seeping through the screen. The way Jungkook played with music and colors really enhanced the already well shot video. You felt at peace sitting beside Jungkook on his bed as he showed you all his past projects. Part of you wished that this moment would never end.Â
âYouâve made me a better person, you know,â Jungkook said out of nowhere, âIâm more talkative around my friends, and Iâve gotten more comfortable with being myself.â
âI didnât do anything, thatâs all you,â you smiled as you poked his chest.Â
âYou definitely helped,â he ran his fingers through your hair, âI love you, ____.â
Your heart skipped a beat.
âI love you too. I thought Iâd never get to say that,â you said with a sigh of relief.Â
He looked into your eyes before leaning forward slowly. Youâve been waiting for this moment for so long, you practically pounced on him. You kissed him passionately, as if to show him how much you missed him. Clothes were thrown in every direction leading to bare skin being exposed.
Jungkookâs soft hands roamed across your body as if he were trying to memorize your every curve. His touch was a bit rougher than the last time, his lips crashed against yours as he pinched your nipples. You couldnât tell if it was desperation, carnal lust, or just a new side of Jungkook, but you didnât mind in the slightest. His erection pressed against your thigh as your hands tangled themselves in his dark hair. You reached down to grab his cock, gripping from the base and slowly dragging your hand to the tip and then back down. He shuddered at the sensation, moaning into your mouth.Â
âShould I get on top?â you batted your eyes.
âNope, I have a better idea,â Jungkook growled as he flipped you over onto your knees, âCan I fuck you like this?â
âFuck me however you want,â you answered gleefully.Â
Jungkook rammed into you without hesitation. He firmly gripped your hips to keep you in place as he thrusted into you. His dick sent waves of ecstasy as he crashed into you. He surprised you when he reached his hand around you to play with your clit, causing you to squirm under him.
âBe a good girl and stay still,â he ordered.Â
His newfound dominance turned you on. He was no longer the baby boy that followed your every move, although you were sure that side of him was still there somewhere. You got lost in pleasure and didnât realize how far gone you were till you felt liquid dripping down your inner thighs.
âYouâre so fucking wet baby. All this for me?â Jungkook panted as he continued snapping his hips into you.
âMhm, of course. Only for you,â you managed to moan out between thrusts.
âThatâs my good girl. Get up,â he demanded as he hopped off the bed.Â
You obeyed, curious as to what he was going to do. As soon as you got off the bed, he spun you around and pushed your chest back over the covers. He slipped back into you with ease, groaning as your slick juices coated his cock. This new position enabled Jungkook to directly hit your g-spot with each thrust. Again, his hand wrapped around your waist to find your clit. His other hand found purchase on your neck, slightly choking you. The overstimulation had you crying out in bliss that you had never experienced before. Â
You were practically gushing now as your wetness ran down your legs and sprayed onto Jungkookâs thighs with each strong impact. Jungkook lifted up one of your legs onto the bed, spreading your pussy.
âNow touch yourself for me,â Jungkook directed.
He didnât have to tell you twice. Your legs started to shake as you played with your clit at the perfect pace while Jungkook drilled into you. You were sure that you had already came numerous times by this point, but you could feel the grand finale soon approaching.  Â
âJungkook I--â you didnât get a chance to finish your sentence as you climaxed onto his dick. He was infatuated with the way you looked from behind, and he couldnât get enough of it. He pushed you back onto the bed with your legs still hanging from the edge. He reinserted himself while you laid there, completely delusional from the pounding you had been receiving.Â
âYouâre such a sexy woman,â he moaned as he anchored the weight of his arms onto your shoulders.Â
He continued his torment downwards. Your bountiful cheeks bounced back and forth while he repeatedly rammed into your g-spot causing you to release more of the juices his massive cock craved.Â
He slowed his pace but still kept going to help you ride out your high for as long as possible. The sensation of you cumming on him was enough to bring him right to the brink of no return.
âCan I cum on you?â he pleaded in a tone all too familiar to you.
âPlease do,â you nodded.
âGod, youâre so sexy,â he said as he gave you a couple more hard thrusts before pulling out and coating your ass with white strings.Â
Jungkook held you in his arms after wiping you down with a towel, both of your chests heaving in sync. You both managed to work up a sweat, but Jungkook still smelled amazing. He played with your hair as your eyelids started to get heavy.Â
â_____,â he whispered softly.
âYes, Jungkook?â you replied with your eyes still closed.Â
âCome with me.â
âWhat?â your eyes shot open.Â
âCome with me to Spain. I know it sounds crazy, but I donât care. Youâll finally get the adventure youâve always wanted, and weâll do it together,â he kissed your forehead.Â
His unexpected proposition had you overwhelmed. You were speechless. You would go with him in a heartbeat. It wouldnât matter where youâd go, as long as you were with him.Â
âJungkook...you know I canât do that,â you fought back tears, nuzzling yourself further into his chest.Â
âI wanted to ask your parents as soon as I arrived but you rushed me out too quickly and--â
âI canât leave them, you know that,â silent tears rolled down your cheeks.Â
âI think theyâd understand. Plus, youâve said that theyâve tried to convince you to go to college,â Jungkook was getting desperate, he thought youâd agree on the spot.
âThey need my help now more than ever. My parents are getting old. As much as I want to leave this place, I canât. Iâm going to be stuck here forever. Iâm so sorry, Jungkook,â you wept.
âItâs okay, ___. We can ask them tomorrow, how does that sound?â he rubbed your back.Â
âNo, I canât do that to them. You know theyâll say yes. I have to stay,â you sniffled.
âYouâre a great daughter. I canât force you to come with me. Iâll miss you. I donât know how long Iâll be gone,â Jungkookâs voice started to falter.
âDonât worry about me. Go live out your life. Eat great food. Take beautiful pictures. Meet pretty girls,â you tried to lighten the mood.
âYou think I want to meet pretty girls? Why would I do that when I have you,â he hugged you tightly.
âWe arenât even dating, Jungkook. I donât want to hinder you more than I already have,â you blurted.Â
âI...I know we arenât dating. Not officially. But thatâs just a stupid label. I want to be with you,â Jungkookâs voice softened to hide his pain.Â
âMaybe this was a bad idea,â you said as you got up.
Jungkook immediately pulled you back into him. Your nose brushed against his wet cheek, causing you to freeze up when you realized that he had also been crying.
âPlease stay with me. At least just for tonight,â he pleaded.
âAlright. I can do that,â you softly kiss him.Â
You woke up the next morning with your head on Jungkookâs chest. Jungkook looked adorable while he was asleep, with his mouth agape and his hair falling messily over his forehead. You tried to inch away, but he just pulled you closer, making it impossible to escape.Â
He woke up with a yawn a couple minutes later. He smiled down at you before ruffling your hair.
âJungkook, Iâm sorry about last night. I--â
âLetâs not talk about it. This is my last day with you for god knows how long. Letâs just enjoy ourselves, okay?â he interrupted you.
It had been three years since that spring when you met Jungkook. You sometimes reminisce about the times you had with Jeon Jungkook. It honestly felt like a dream. Communication with him slowly faded away, and now the only conversations you had with him were one message long during birthdays and holidays. You kept up with him more through Instagram. He regularly uploaded his beautiful pictures, and you could tell that his talent only grew. He had a knack for making dull buildings and streets come to life.Â
Your parents planned to retire soon, leaving you to tend to the bakery by yourself. They mainly managed the front-of-house work during the busy hours now. Their goal was to finally sell the bakery, but you protested against it. As much as you wanted to be rid of the chains that tied you down, you were scared. You didnât know what you would do if the bakery was suddenly gone. It was all youâve ever known.Â
Ever since your parents announced their retirement plans, you started to dabble in pastry making. They were impressed with your skills, and your creations got added to the menu. Word spread that the already famous bakery was now carrying delicious pastries, and business soared.Â
You were busy decorating your latest desserts when your mother came into the kitchen.
âYour father and I have to go run a quick errand, weâll be back soon!â she said before giving you time to protest. You grumbled to yourself as you placed strawberries on your cakes, praying that no one would come in.
âHello? Anyone here? The sign says open,â someone called from the front.
âGod dammitâ, you thought before putting on a fake customer service smile.Â
âWelcome to--â you stopped in your tracks.
Jungkook was standing in the middle of your bakery, looking even more handsome than you had remembered him. His face lit up as soon as he saw you. You couldnât help yourself as you ran towards him, colliding into him with a forceful hug.
âI hear you sell desserts now,â he grinned.
âJungkook! What are you doing here? Your hair, itâs so long! And...do you have tattoos now?!â you were in shock.Â
âDo I look more artsy now?â he laughed, âI came to see you. I wanted to try your desserts too, of course. No one would believe me when I said nothing can compare to your familyâs bakery. Oh, I have a present for you.â
You became giddy with excitement as Jungkook brought out a brown paper bag and handed it to you. You pulled out prints of a beautiful girl standing in a forest. Wait...it looked familiarâŠ
âIs this me?â you asked as your mouth hung open.
âYeah, these are the pictures from when you took me on that picnic. Would you believe me if I said I barely had to touch anything up? They were already nearly perfect,â Jungkook said proudly.
âItâs because youâre a talented photographer,â you smiled. Â
âThat, and because I had the perfect model. How could I not ask the most beautiful girl Iâve ever seen to model for me?â he said as he tucked your hair behind your ear.
âSo I wasnât just practice?â you recalled asking him about it all those years ago.
âI was so nervous back then, I couldnât bring myself to tell you the truth,â he laughed, âIâm much more open now.â
You promptly switched the âOPENâ sign to âCLOSEDâ and sat Jungkook down. You brought out one of your fresh strawberry cakes, eager to hear his opinion. His face contorted with pleasure as he took the first bite. He complimented the flavors and textures, saying that everything tasted like perfect harmony. You laughed together as he shared stories of his time abroad. He intently listened while you opened up about the struggles of the bakery.Â
âAnyway, thatâs enough complaining for now. Iâm happy youâre back! How long are you staying for this time?â you tilted your head.Â
âDepends,â Jungkook answered as he gazed out the window. He looked back at you with a serious expression. He quickly grabbed your hand and pulled you close, bringing your face just inches away from his.
âDo you still want to explore the world?â he asked.
âOf course, thatâll never change. But...you know I canât,â you answered somberly.Â
âAfter everything you just told me, you still think you have to stay here?â Jungkook raised an eyebrow, âMy next gig is going to be in France. Come with me this time, _____.â
You stared at him with a stunned expression. You thought he had forgotten about you. Now here he is, asking you to run away with him again.
âWhy did you lose touch? I thought you had moved on. I made peace with that. God, it hurt like hell, but I came to terms with it. And now weâre doing this again,â your voice cracked as tears welled in your eyes.
âHonestly, it hurt me too much. I couldnât bear talking to you every day or video chatting you, without knowing when Iâd see you next. I never stopped thinking about you. I tried. I tried to forget...but no one could ever come close to you,â Jungkook cupped your cheek in his palm, âThereâs a really good patissiere academy close to where Iâll be working. You could go there and sharpen your skills! Then maybe one day open up a bakery of your own...if you wanted.â
âBut what about my parents--â
âStop using us as an excuse to hold yourself back,â your mom scolded you as she entered the bakery.
âDid you like your surprise?â your dad winked.
âYou knew?â you were bewildered.
âJungkook contacted us a while back, asking if we thought his plan could ever be a possibility. I figured you were still head over heels for him since you never dated anyone else,â your mom shrugged.
âIf you want to go, go. Donât worry about us. We can sell the bakery, and finally retire,â your dad said.Â
âYou have your parentsâ blessing, ____. This decision is entirely up to you. Whatâs it gonna be? Will you come with me to France?â Jungkook asked again.
âI..,â you looked at your parents before your eyes wandered back to Jungkook, âYes. Iâd love to,â tears of joy rolled down your cheeks.
Jungkook got up and embraced you in a tight hug before he whispered, âIâve missed you so much,â in your ear.Â
âWell, we better start packing,â Jungkook turned to your parents.
âPacking? Already?â your eyes widened.Â
âWe leave by the end of the week!â Jungkook gleefully took your hand and dashed out of the store.Â
Jungkook dragged you through the town up to your house. You couldnât help but smile as you watched his long hair bounce around while you ran. You couldâve sworn that sometimes they looked like bunny ears.
He was definitely Jungkook, but he seemed like the upgraded version of the shy boy you once knew. He had a new confident aura around him, and he seemed more manly than boyish now. Everything was happening so quickly, but you were nothing but excited for the adventures to come.Â
As long as Jungkook was by your side, you were ready to take on the world.Â

And this I promise from the heart

Collection: Just The Way You Are Series, Part 2 Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 (Coming Soon!) Part 4 Link to A03 or read below! âSunny. Sunny,â Aaron calls in his deep, even voice, and the six-month-old Golden Retriever at your feet wags her tail, looks up in your direction.
âDaddyâs home, Sunny girl. Do you want to get daddy?â She rises to her feet, looks out the door, down the hall, then back at you, tail thumping against your desk chair. âGo get daddy.â She takes off running, and you smile, turn back to your work. You can hear the jingle of her tags as Aaron scratches her neckâsheâs probably two seconds from flopping onto her back for a belly rub, which, you know, you completely getâand his voice as he asks her if sheâs had a good day.
If anyone doesnât believe Aaron is a soft, gooey marshmallow of a man beneath the buttoned-up federal agent exterior, you welcome them to witness one exchange between him and his dog.
A few minutes later, he walks into your office, Sunny at his heels, and you look up, raise your eyebrows. âOh, is it my turn to be greeted now?â you tease, and you stand, meet him for a kiss.
âNot jealous, are you?â
âOnly a little, but Iâll let you make it up to me.â He wraps an arm around your waist, smooths a hand up your back, kisses you again, but this time itâs slower, warmer, and youâre a little breathless when he pulls back.
âPlanning on making it up to you tonightâor, all weekend, actually. Derek offered to watch Sunny, and I pulled some strings and was able to rent us a cabin near the national park. I thought maybe we could get away, get some fresh air, hike the trails? I know itâs not the beach, but on short notice I thought you might enjoy it.â
âAre you kidding?â you ask with a grin, holding onto his arms. This is totally unexpected, so thoughtful it makes your chest ache. You lean up to kiss him repeatedly, soft and sweet. âThank you, baby, really. I canât tell you how excited I am.â
âYouâre welcome. I should have thought of something like this sooner; Iâm sorry Iâve been a little oblivious.â He frowns, and you move your hands to his face, guide him down for a deeper kiss.
âI know you have a lot on your plate, and I love our life exactly as isâgoing away with you is just a bonus.â
âWell itâs a bonus you deserve,â he says, pulling you closer. âI want to be more attentive; I donât want to fall back into my old habits.â
âYouâre very attentive; I wasnât exactly forthcoming with my thoughts, so I canât blame you for not reading my mind. Letâs promise to talk more about things that matter,â you suggest; he agrees, and you kiss again before heading to your bedroom to pack your bags. After getting the car packed for the trip, you head to Derek's to drop off Sunny and her thingsâwith lots of pets and kisses for Sunny, and a tight, appreciative hug for Derekâand then stop for dinner on your way to the cabin.
Aaron is so light and happy, you almost wish youâd gotten drunk and asked for a vacation sooner, even if it is only a weekend away.
The cabin is beautiful, all deep cherry wood and high ceilings, a stone fireplace; there is a swimming pool, a hot tub, and a finished wraparound deck that overlooks the forest. It promises peace, quiet, solitudeâa perfect place for you and Aaron to reconnect and spend some one-on-one time together.
You unpack your clothes and toiletries, and Aaron unpacks the kitchen things: coffee, water, and wine, breakfast ingredients, snacks. You meet him downstairs when youâre finished, and he is sitting out on the patio with two glasses of wine on the table in front of him. You feel a little like youâve died and gone to heaven.
âYouâre so good to me,â you tell him when you step out onto the deck. You intend to sit down in the chair across from him, but he reaches out, curls a hand around your forearm and guides you to sit in his lap instead. You wrap an arm around his neck, loosely drape the other over his chest, look up at his gentle face. âSo very good to me.â
âAll I want is to be good to you; I just want to make you happy,â he murmurs, and he leans in to kiss youâitâs a very specific type of kiss, slow and passionate, one that makes you crave his touch on your bare body, and you make a soft, needy sound against his mouth, pull back with a smile.
âWhat do you have planned for me in that beautiful, brilliant brain?â Aaron ducks his head, smiles a bit bashfully; you love that your compliments still affect him after all this time, quite partial to the shy, serious man who stole your heart in the first place.
âWell, I was thinking wine, clearly⊠maybe a soak in the hot tub? I turned it on, brought out some towelsâdid you happen to pack a swimsuit?â He smooths a hand over your hip, your ass, and you cling to him a bit more tightly.
âI didnât, but that wonât stop from getting in that hot tub with you.â He looks confused, and you raise your eyebrows, give him a moment to let it sink in.
âSkinny dipping?â he says, looking simultaneously surprised and turned on by the prospect. You laugh softly.
âYes. Itâs private back here, no neighbors close by, and I think it would be a lot of fun. I wonât try to force you to join me, you know I wonât, but if I could convince you somehow, please let me know.â You brush your fingers through the hair at the back of his head, lean in for an unhurried kiss, slowly dragging your tongue along the length of his, and itâs clear heâs quickly convinced. He grips your thigh with a firm hand, moves the other to the back of your head to keep you close, keep you kissing.
Heâs not always forceful, not always rough, but thereâs no denying what it does to you when he grabs you a little harder, kisses a little deeper; you want to give yourself to him even more than you usually do, want him to do what he wants, take what he wants. You want to give him everything.
When he breaks the kiss, you press two more against his lips, then pull back and tug your sweater over your head. He runs a hand over your breast, squeezes through the fabric of your bra, then slides it up to wrap lightly around your throat. Itâs tender but possessive, something else that never fails to drive you crazy; the first time he did it during sex you had an orgasm almost instantly, and thereâs just something about having his broad palm and thick fingers there that makes you lose your mind.
âFuck,â you groan, though itâs more like a whisper, and he moves his other hand to your pants, slips the button free, hovers. âPlease, Aaron.â He flicks his eyes up, stares into yours, pulls you toward him for another kiss, and you moan against his lips. The moment he releases you, you shift up, out of his lap, and you push down your pants and panties, unhook your bra.
Youâre both breathing heavily, especially when Aaron looks over your body like he hasnât seen it a million and one times already, his gaze hot and lingering; you reach for him, and he stands, lets you get him out of his clothes too. Itâs clearly a little uncomfortable for him to feel so exposed, even though you are in a private space, so you run your hands over him gently, press your lips against his body, whisper soothing words of encouragement and remind him that you can go inside whenever he likes.
The hot tub is in-ground, square, made of stone, and you both sink into the blissfully hot water with matching sighs; the night is warm, with a cool breeze, and you sit down next to him, let him pull you into his lap again. You smile, tug the hair tie off of your wrist and sweep your hair up into a high bun, wrap your arms around his shoulders.
âNot so bad,â you murmur, smoothing your hand over his chest, âis it?â He holds you close with a hand on your lower back, drags the other up your stomach, over your breasts. Your mouth falls open in a soft gasp, and he does it again, his rough palm catching your nipple, rubbing against it.
âNot bad at all.â You run your tongue over your lips, grind in his lapâheâs already hard, and you canât blame him, feel like youâre halfway to a climax as is. This is extremely hot, and not just because youâre still surprised he even agreed to it. âI want to kiss youâjust kiss you for a little bit. Youâre not too turned on for that, are you?â You close your eyes briefly, sigh, because he clearly plans to torture you, drag out the foreplay; eventually, you shake your head.
âIâm not too turned on for that.â He hums, pleased, and then brings a hand to your throat again, pulls you in for a long, wet kiss. You roll your hips against his, slowly and sensually, and he moves his hands over your body, squeezes your ass hard with both of them. âMmm. Want you.â He squeezes again and you grip his shoulders firmly, whimper. âAaron.â
âShould I let you up? Or should I make you come right here in my lap?â he asks, and then he decides on his own, moves a hand between your legs and slides it over your pussy. You moan softly, looking down at him in a way you hope conveys your desire, your desperation; he seems to understand, holds your ass and pushes two fingers inside you, presses deeply. âKiss me, baby,â he breathes, and you do, gasping against his mouth as he pumps his hand.
Your kisses are graceless, eager, and you ride his hand, weave your fingers into his hair to keep him close, to stay connected. Eventually you just breathe against his lips, unable to focus on even a messy kiss; he adds a third finger, watches your face like youâre mesmerizing as you get close, as if he hasnât seen this look a million and one times too.
âI want you to come hard, I want to hear it. I want the neighbors we donât have to hear it.â He smiles, just a little, and so do you, and then you kiss him with renewed fervor, slam down against his hand, water sloshing around you; you come moaning, gripping his shoulders hard, and he brings his wet hand up to hold tightly to the back of your neck, so youâll make eye contact as you ride out the final wave of pleasure, clench around his fingers. âFuck, youâre gorgeous,â he groans, and you wet your lips, panting, lean in for another kiss.
âI want to blow you,â you speak over his mouth, earning a soft sound of desire, and he kisses you deeply once more before guiding you off of his lap. He moves up a step, so just his legs are in the water, and you climb between them, run your hands over his thighs. âGorgeous too.â You look up at him, and he puts both hands on your face, pulls you in for a kiss; you grope at his chest, slip your fingers over the wet hair that trails down his stomach, then bite him there softly when he lets you go, leans back on his arms.
You wrap a hand easily around his straining cock, press the other against his thigh; his sharp intake of breath when you cover him with your mouth is enough to get you wet again, and you shift a bit uncomfortablyâthe stone is hard beneath your knees, the ache between your legs back in full force, but you would stay in this position for hours if thatâs what Aaron wanted.
Now, though, he just looks like he wants to come, so you suckâtight, shallow, wet, strokesâand hum, working your hand with each dip of your head. âOh, yes. So good,â he rasps, and he curls forward so he can run his hands down your back. It brings his body closer, his scrunched stomach brushing against your nose as you tilt your head up, and you whine, lift off of him, press open mouthed kisses to his stomach and chest, everywhere you can reach. âFuck. Are you wet again, baby?â
âYes,â you sigh, kissing him, touching him with your free handâthe other is still pumping his cock even though your mouth has abandoned it. âTouch me, please touch me.â He leans in a bit further, puts one hand on the back of your neck and one over your clit, rubs quickly and pulls you in for another hot, hard kiss. âYes, touch me, Aaron, touch me.â Youâre so eager for moreâmore pleasure, more of his pleasureâthat you literally canât stop talking, so you slide your mouth over him again just to occupy it, just so you donât sound as needy as you feel.
âYouâll come for me again,â he murmurs, cupping your head with his broad palmâno pressure, just a reverent touch. âYouâll swallow for me, come for me; youâd do anything for me.â You would, you have no doubts, and you just hum your agreement, keep sucking until he groans, guides you off of him, to his lips. âInside,â he mumbles through a kiss, and you take his face in your hands, deepening it, clinging to each other.
âYou want to go inside?â you ask, breathless.
âI want to go inside⊠come inside you.â He puts his hands on your waist, urges you to stand, and you step out of the hot tub, take a few dripping steps over to the chair with the towels laid across it. You wrap one around Aaron, rub it roughly over his body; it starts as something sexy, but then it must tickle, and he laughs. You canât help laughing when he does, and when he dries you off, you dissolve into giggles, wrap your arms around his neck and let him lift you, carry you into the cabin and toward the bedroom, pausing to grab the half-full glasses of wine before you go.
You set them down on the dresser, and he sets you down on the bed, hovers over you with a grin. He pushes your legs apart, wide on either side of his hips, and you surge forward for a kiss; he wraps his fingers in the sheets and pushes inside you, earning a short, high moan. You sink back against the bed, tilt your hips up, and he thrusts quickly, roughly, makes you sigh.
âYeah, fuck, Aaron.â You curl a hand around the back of his neck, grip his forearm with the other, and grind up against him, watch his face as it shifts from determined to desperate for release.
âWonât last,â he pants, and you shake your head, pull him down to your lips.
âDonât have to. Just come, baby.â He groans, wraps his hand around the wooden headboard and uses it for leverage, slams hard into you; you fuck yourself against him, even harder when he comes, so eager to catch up, to meet him there. He leans in, face against your throat, fingers tight on your shoulder, and thrusts so deeply and roughly that your entire body tenses when your orgasm follows, and then you shake in his embrace while you catch your breath.
He brushes his mouth over your throat, your jaw, and you just lay together a moment, chests heaving, before he climbs off of the bed and grabs the wine. You both drink it down in one long sip, then laugh breathlessly once more, kiss again.
You get cleaned up, pull on pajamas, and Aaron builds a fire; you cuddle up on the sofa in front of it, drink enough wine to get a little tipsy, and talk and laugh, make out just to do it, with no end goal in mind. Time passes by slowly, and here, thatâs perfect; youâd stop time if you could, spend the rest of your life warmed from the inside out with Aaronâs voice in your ear. The next morning, you wake up at a decent hour, make coffee while Aaron starts breakfast. Itâs a bit chillier than the day before, so you wrap a blanket around your shoulders and take your coffee outside, look out at the forest and its silent stillness. Between Aaronâs work and yours, and now Sunny, life is rarely so peaceful, so quiet, and you just stand there and drink it in for a moment before Aaron comes out, clinking plates and silverware, disturbing your solitude in the most perfect of ways. You turn back, and he smiles, sets down your food, and you cross the deck, press a warm kiss to his lips, and sit down for breakfast.
The two of you get showered, dressed, and you drive to the national park to hike before it gets too warm; the trails range from easy to difficult, and you stick with something moderate, since youâre not very familiar with the park. The path you take is mostly dry, but lush and green, surrounded by thick trees and lots of plant life. Aaron, as it turns out, is quite the amatuer botanist, points out random flowers when he notices them, tells you their scientific names like a nerdy boy scout; itâs really very adorable.
âBaptisia australisâBlue Wild Indigo,â he says, pointing to a plant with small, light purple buds. âItâs a member of the pea family.â
âThe pea family,â you repeat, taking care to step over a fallen log. He hums.
âIâm sure you know Indigo plants are used for dye, but indigenous people also use them in medicinal teas.â He takes another two dozen steps, kneels down to pick up a pretty golden-yellow flower that has fallen off of its plant. âOenothera fruticosaâSouthern Sundrops. Hummingbirds love them.â He turns to you, offers the flower, then a slow, tender kiss.
He moves on, tells you about at least ten other flowers along the path; you spend so much time smiling at his exuberance that your face is more sore than any other part of you by the time the hike is over.
You are ready for lunch, and a dip in the pool, and maybe a foot massage that leads to something more, but almost the second you walk in the door, Aaronâs phone rings. He looks down at it, then you, and you shoot him a soft smile.
Some things are just too good to be true.
He sighs, answers and brings it to his ear. You pass him, pat him on the back, and head to the kitchen to make some coffee to go.
âHotchner. Yes, the family annihilator. Me specifically, JJ?â He looks over at you fondly as you pull a travel mug down from the cupboard, almost like part of him is surprised that you accepted his fate so easily, where the other part is very unsurprised. âWeâre not far, but⊠No, itâs okay. Iâll be at the precinct in an hour. Thank you.â
âFamily annihilator doesnât sound good,â you say after heâs ended the call, stepped into the kitchen with you. âDo you have to travel?â
âItâs local, just an interrogation. We could be back here together by dinnertime.â He comes up behind you, runs his hands down your arms, leans in to brush his nose over your throat. âIâm sorry. I promise Iâll make it up to you.â He sounds resigned, a bit sad, and though itâs inconvenient, itâs not something he should be beating himself up over. You knew what you were getting into when he had to leave in the middle of your third date to fly out for a case, and youâve accepted that his work is unpredictable, and urgent, and important, would never make him choose between you or the jobâbecause itâs not the right thing to do, but also because youâre fairly certain he would not be able to choose you.
âI know you will; you always do.â Your tone is not sarcastic or biting, but soft, and you turn your head, tilt it back to receive a warm kiss on the mouth. âYouâd better get changed. Can I come along for the ride? You can stash me away in a corner at the precinct,â you say, following him upstairs; heâd packed a spare suit just in case something like this happened, and you know he wishes he could shower first, but there isnât time.
He agrees easily, and you change your own clothes, slipping into dark jeans and a clingy black sweater, a pair of low-heeled boots. He gathers up his badge and gun, looks every bit the super special FBI agent you know and loveâbut he still smells like the forest, and a very large part of you is uncomfortably aroused by that fact.
You focus on that, and the thought of how heâll make this up to you, for the entirety of the drive; Aaron is quiet, shifting gears into his calm, composed authoritative mode, but you can tell heâs aware of what youâre thinking, feeling, that itâs running through the back of his mind as well. When you arrive at the precinct, JJ is there, and you stand by quietly while she brings Aaron up to speed. Apparently a man has killed his estranged wife, children, and mother-in-law, and there is evidence, but a confession would speed things up considerably, and the district attorney has called in a favor to ensure that Aaron is the one to interrogate the man. He leaves you with a kiss on the cheek, and you and JJ make small talk before it dissolves into silence.
âDo you want to watch the interrogation? Two-way glass,â she says with a smile, and you are intrigued by the prospect. Youâve never seen Aaron in action at work before, or at least not in a way thatâs any more exciting than filling out forms. She takes you to the large window, where you can see Aaron and the suspect engaged in tense conversation.
He opens up a file, spreads out photographs of what must be the manâs family; you canât make them out, but they appear to be gruesome, if the concentration of crimson that covers the pages is any indication. The man doesnât flinch the way you would expect, but Aaron seems to know where to proceed with that knowledge; he continues questioning him, and at one point he gets in the manâs face, shouts, and slams his hand on the table.
You canât help it, you jump, and JJ reaches out to rest a hand on your shoulder.
âYou okay? I know it can be intense,â she says, and you compose yourself, nod.
âYeah Iâm okay. I just⊠heâs never raised his voice to me. Not once in almost six years,â you muse; youâve never thought much of it, because a man shouldnât be yelling at his girlfriend, right? This isnât extraordinary, just normal behavior, but it makes you feel something deep and moving anyway. You excuse yourself, head to the bathroom and splash a little cold water on your cheeks; by the time you return, Aaron is already out of interrogation, and he and JJ are smiling.
âThat was fast,â you say when you approach, and JJ pats Aaron on the arm.
âNow you know why the DA pulled all those strings to get him here. He makes the BAU look superhuman.â He shakes his head, never one to take a compliment without putting up a fight, and they chat a little more before Aaron puts a hand on your back to signal that itâs time to go.
You look at your phone when you get into the car. Thirty-six minutes have passed since you turned it off on your way into the building.
You always kind of figured, but for the first time you can see for yourself: Aaron is kind of badass. You stop to have dinner on the way back to the cabin again, but this time there is less laughter and more lingering looks, soft, eager touches. The atmosphere between you is the same as it was in the car on the way to the precinct, the familiar tension between two people who want each other but canât, or wonât, or are waiting to say it.
It makes you feel pretty good, that the two of you have this kind of chemistry after all this time.
When you get back to the cabin, you both undress, and Aaron suggests showering together in the master bathroomâs large glass shower. You agree, eager to put your hands on him, your mouth on him; the way you touch is exploratory, as if you havenât done this countless times over the course of your relationship, as if you werenât in a very similar position just last night. You wash each other, slow and sensual, but tender, and then dry off, and kiss, walk backward toward the turned-down bed.
âI want to take our time tonight,â Aaron murmurs as he hovers over you. You nod, lost in the haze of his hands on you, the smell of his soap, toothpaste, the feel of cool sheets beneath your backâthese are sensations, scents, you are intimately familiar with, but they never fail to make your heart pound, your breath quicken in anticipation.
No one has ever made you feel quite so much, and even after almost six years, Aaron is capable of reducing you to your basic needs and emotions with just one sentence breathed into the space between you. He smooths his hands up your sides, over your stomach, and youâd swear time stops so the two of you can just be, so you can indulge in each other in a way that feels like going back to the beginning.
His hands move to your breasts and he squeezes them, watches your face as you react to the roughness, the pleasure, before leaning in for a hot, breathy kiss. âMmm. Yeah,â you sigh, and he presses his lips to your throat, drags them slowly down your chest, encircles a nipple and sucks hard enough that your head falls back instantly and you moan his name.
âGod, I love your body,â he tells you before moving to the other nipple. âSo perfect for me.â Again, he sucks, then moves his mouth just a little to the left, bites down on your breast where youâre soft and sensitive; he sucks harder, so hard it hurts and you know you will be sore where heâs claimed you for days to come. Itâs been a while since heâs done this, bruised you, covered you in bites, and he knows what it does to you, seems unsurprised when you wrap your hands around his arms for leverage and try to grind against him where heâs sprawled on top of you.
âPlease, Aaron.â He groans against your skin, moves a hand to cover your pussy, lets you rub against it while he continues to lick and suck and bite until both breasts are covered in the aching, tender remnants of his kiss. Youâre so close to a climax from just his mouth and your own desperate movements against the heel of his hand; when he brings his lips to yours, soft and wet, you run your hands over his shoulders and head, hips working, revel in the way your own pleasure is reflected in his face when you come.
âFuck, baby; so good for me.â You stare up at him, panting as you try to come down, and he brushes fingers over your lips, down your throat. âTurn over?â You moan softly at his request, turn onto your stomach when he leans up over you; you spread your legs wide and he tucks his knees in behind yours, guides you back onto his cock with both hands on your ass.
You fist your hands into your pillow, work your body back against his thrusts; itâs not fast, or hard, but he knows exactly where to put his hands to drive you crazy, how to help you move. You moan together, both out of breath and quickly approaching orgasm when he pulls out, leans back against his heels.
âMmm, come here, sweetheart.â He slides his hands under you, covers your breasts again, guides you to your knees, then shifts so you both turn, face the side of the bed, not the headboard. He presses his nose against your cheek, hooks one arm around your shoulder to tightly grip your breast in his hand, and you grab onto his arm, lean your head back against him. âI want you to watch, baby. I want you to see how gorgeous you look when you come on me.â
You lick your lips, and itâs only then that you realize heâs positioned you right in front of the full-length mirror by your side of the bed. Your eyes roll back in your head a little when you process the requestâis he trying to wreck you?âand he huffs a laugh against your throat.
âDo you like that? Do you want to watch me move inside you?â You nod lazily, lean your back against his chest, and he presses his cock into you, thrusts smoothly but quickly. Your mouth falls open in a soft moan, and you rock against him, digging your fingertips into his arm.
Itâs so erotic, watching the movements of your bodiesâAaronâs deep pumps of hips against your ass as he disappears inside you, your thighs flexing to keep up. He squeezes your breast, which still aches from the hickies he covered you with, and then that hand slides up to your throat and you can see the bruises in all of their rich, vivid glory. âOh, fuck, Aaron.â
âItâs been a while since I got to take you apart like this; youâre so perfect for me, so beautiful. Covered in me, full of me.â He squeezes your throat softly, just enough pressure to draw your attention there, and you sigh.
âYes, yes. Harder,â you breathe, and he pounds against you; you watch his face in the mirror, can see that heâs breathless, close, and you bounce roughly back against him, moan and come when heâs pressed exactly where you need him. He thrusts a few more times, right there, and you donât stop coming, just clench around him and ride it out, watch both of your expressions shift when he loses it inside you. âOh, god, yes.â
âYes, baby, just like that. Just like that.â He snaps his hips hard, mouths at your shoulder, and youâre reduced to whimpers until he removes his hand from your throat, pulls your hair back away from your face, tilts your chin toward him for a kiss. âSo good: did so good, felt so good,â he mutters against your lips, and you both kiss a little messy, soft. This one has left you both a little come-dumb, and you press back against him, spent.
âMmm. I fucking love you,â you sigh, and you focus on himâand maybe a little on the mirrorâwhen he rumbles a reply and slips you his tongue. You pick Sunny up from Derekâs the next dayâshe runs to Aaron first, no big deal, so you talk with Derek, thank him again for watching her on such short notice.
âIâm happy to take her any time, sheâs a real sweetheart. Did you enjoy your getaway?â You nod, smile, sigh a little wistfully.
âYeah, it was really nice. He promised me a beach vacation for our honeymoon, though, and I plan to sunbathe on an island so remote his cell phone is rendered useless.â You look up at him, slap him lightly on his bicep. âSo get better at your job, will you? When heâs my husband Iâm going to be much less lenient if my date night gets interrupted.â
Aaron looks up from his position on the floor, where heâs giving Sunny the belly rub of her life.
âWhen Iâm your husband,â he says with a smile, and you roll your eyes, thank Derek again, and wrangle your family out the door.

andy robertson with your new baby?? seems like. an ADORABLE dad and you write the cuuutessttt fics so just anything with andy and your new baby girl would be so so so adorable pls and thank uuuu
baby girl
âShh, shhh,â Andy coos softly at his tiny little brand new baby girl. The little pink bundle of warmth and love was making the beginning of some unhappy cries. The shirtless new father bends over to carefully scoop his two week old newborn baby to cradle gently against him. âMamaâs sleeping,â he whispers quietly as he begins to bounce ever so slightly with a sway to help calm her. âOh arenât so you bloody adorable.â He mumbles, his smile so huge it actually hurts his cheeks. âAnd got your mummies pretty eyes. Lucky you.â He chuckles, brushing a soft finger over her even softer cheek.
âGot your nose, though.â Your voice adds, thick with sleep. Andy sniggers, âMama is not sleeping.â He corrects before he turns around to face you standing there, beaming tiredly at him. âYou okay?â He asks you sweetly. You shrug your heavy shoulders with a sigh. âSore boobs.â
Andy grimaces, furrowing his brows. He wishes there was some way that he could help you with all of these things that he just had no ability to actually help with. He canât make your stitches ache any less, cant stop your boobs from burning and certainly canât do anything about the fact your daughter is a very hungry little thing. The only thing he can do is make sure heâs awake at every possible opportunity to take her when youâre sleeping while heâs got the time to do so.
âSorry,â he mumbles, âIs there anything I can do?â
You shake your head, smiling softly as you walk over to them. âYou could massage them for me?â You tease, wagging your eyebrows in a tiredly suggestive manner that makes Andy laugh and then hum softly. âI could do that.â He winks, closing the space to press his lips gently against yours. A little coo sounds from between you, though, making you both smile and break the kiss. âNah, just need to feed her.â You shrug. Andy nods, passing her over into your arms.
While you take a seat down on that rocking chair to breastfeed your daughter, Andy leans against the chest of drawers that her changing table is on top of. The new father crosses his arms over his chest, smiling as he just watches you. Itâs the most mesmerising thing that heâs ever counted himself lucky enough to witness. âYouâre staring.â You note sweetly, raising your eyebrows and tilting your head at him. Andy simply shrugs and smiles even bigger.
âI just love you.â
~~
âThis is Hampden Park.â Andy begins, walking out to the empty pitch in the middle of the stadium. âItâs where our national team plays. Daddy captains the side, can you believe that?â He gasps soft, smiling at his tiny baby daughter as she simply stares up at him with her big eyes that look so much like yours. âYeah, me neither.â He laughs.
Andy looks around the empty stadium, spotting and maybe more laughably hearing John McGinn at the coming out of the tunnel to start stretching with Kieran. âThatâs your uncle John singing, unfortunately. Heâs funny though, i think youâll love him but certainly not for his singing ability." He notes softly. John rolls his eyes as he walks up to the Scotland captain, taking this opportunity to get a good look at his newborn daughter. "She's gorgeous," John smiles, not even looking up at Andy as he follows his his prior statement, "Complete opposite of you mate, thank god for that."
That gave Andy his turn to roll his eyes, scoffing at the tease from probably his funniest teammate who laughs as he jogs off to go warmup with the rest of the guys who were now emerging from the tunnel.
"You are gorgeous." Andy says sweetly to his daughter, "Just like your beautiful mama, yes you are, yes you are." He babbles in his baby voice before he presses a gentle kiss to her soft forehead. âI hope you love it here as much as i do.â He adds, bouncing gently as he walks around so she remains as calm and quiet as she has since he brought her out here. Youâre watching him from the side of the pitch, sitting with the other wives and girlfriends but youâre not focussing or listening to a word theyâve said. Itâs impossible to take your eyes off of Andy and your daughter. He looks so content, so precious walking around talking to her. Itâs so beautifully obvious how much he loves her and itâs the same way that everybody can also see how much he loves you.
âAnd one day,â Andy coos to that sweet, brand new baby girl, âIf you want, youâre gonna lead out the womanâs team here and then youâre gonna lift the world cup trophy and iâm going to be right there-â He pauses to point out to the best seats, right where you are sitting. âFront and centre with your mama cheering you on eh? Doesnât matter what you do, sweetheart. Daddy is always going to be right here cheering you on âcause youâre my baby girl and i love you so so so much.â He kisses her head again, looking at her like sheâs the most precious thing in the world and truly, she is. Sheâs his perfect little baby girl. She looks just like you and makes his heart hurt from happiness just like you do. She is literally perfect.
âAnd youâre gonna be good for your mummy?â He muses, smiling at you as he walks towards where you standing now by the barricade waiting to take her back so he can go and warmup. âShe needs her rest,â he says quietly, stopping a few feet away so he can look as though heâs just giving her a little kiss on his cheek when he actually tilts his head down so he can undetectable whisper, âhas to be in a good mood when i ask her to marry me.â
His baby daughter just looks up at him with eyes wide in wonderment, very much like the way Andy looks at you. Seeing you as a mother, just getting to be part of witnessing the way you love her is more beautiful than he could ever have imagined and as Andy passes the nearly sleeping baby over to you, seeing the way your eyes light up and the pure joy in the way you kiss him before he leaves to warm up, he knows heâs more than ready to make you his wife.

Hereâs a little something for the Celestial Harmonies au, in reference to a previous one-shot I wrote for it where Crowley and Aziraphale got drunk and Crowley said some stuff.
For those of you not familiar, this is the au where Crowley works at a national park in the states that is guarded by an eldritch angel Aziraphale who pretends to be a mountain man/lumberjack that Crowley has a crush on.
On with the fic!
--
Aziraphale insisted on them taking a stroll through the woods, along a common path that the tourists and locals frequent. It was a beautiful day and Crowley was always happy to get out of doing his actual job, so he was fine to go for a small walk with Aziraphale.
Especially since the older man was holding his hand as they walked down the trail and Crowley was still trying to process this fact.Â
âOh, youâll love it.â Aziraphale spoke. âItâs not always easy to spot, but if you know where it is, then you know. Of course, I obviously know where it is, and now you will!â
âW-what?â Crowley blinked, his brain registering that the man was speaking to him.
âThe lovely little waterfall I was just telling you about.â Aziraphale smiled, chuckling softly. âDid you not hear me?â
âI... was, uh, I mean...â He glanced at their hands and Aziraphaleâs smile softened. âItâs so weird, knowing that weâre dating now.â
âYes, but isnât it also nice, dear?â
âVery.â Crowley swallowed, his face felt warm.Â
They continued along, with Aziraphale pointing out birds in the trees, and Crowley spotting flowers and plants he recognized, until they came across a small spot in the path where Aziraphale broke off from, taking him further into the trees.Â
It was darker here, cooler, and more quiet. It sent a shudder up Crowleyâs spine, he still wasnât sure how he felt about the deeper areas of the forests of the park, considering his encounter with The Angel. But he was with Aziraphale, and the man always made him feel so safe, protected. He gave Aziraphaleâs surprisingly soft hand a squeeze as they walked.
Soon, he heard the sounds of water and they walked a bit further until they found a small stream. Walking along that led to a ledge in the ground and there it was, the waterfall, pouring into a crystal clear pool of water.Â
âHow the hell did ya find somethinâ like this?â Crowley asked, impressed. It was lovely, and the plants growing around the pool were so bright and vibrant, thriving in such an area where even the sun seemed to be shining on it perfectly. It was like something from a movie or a book.Â
âOh, when youâve been here as long as I have, you tend to find little secrets about.â Aziraphale smiled as he sat on the ledge. Crowley did the same, close to the stream as it ran off into the pool. He reached out with his free hand, touching the water, only to pull it back. âAch! Colder than a witchâs tit! Damn!â
Aziraphale laughed at this. âItâs from the mountains, glacial runoff, some of the lakes, rivers, and streams get their water from it. Hence why you need to be careful around those waters, the coldness can send you into shock.
He was still smiling, almost knowingly. âThat was rather cute, you know.â
âWhat was?â Crowley asked, wiping his hand on his shirt.
âYour accent slipping out like that.â
Crowley tensed for a moment. âW-what accent? You mean mah southern drawl?âÂ
âOh please, dear boy, I meant your Scottish one. Iâve heard it before, when you shocked yourself repairing that light fixture and you were cursing up a storm. Oh, and when you got drunk at my place, you ended up carrying a conversation with me with it.â
âI...â Crowley hadnât known this, and he felt embarrassed. âW-well, it comes with havinâ lived there for a good chunk of my life.â
âI thought you lived in the southern United States.â
âI mean, yeah, I do live there, and I was born there, in DC to be in fact, but when...â He coughed, might as well just let it out. âWhen Mum and Dad split when I was a kid, Mum took me with her back home to Scotland to live with her and aunty Ashtoreth, and I picked up on the accent there, but I still had the southern one I got from Dadâs family. It switches, often depending where I live.â
âThatâs rather cute.â
âHow so?â
âThat you slip in and out of it so easily. I used to do that when I lived in the United Kingdom.â
Crowley snorted. âYou sound like youâre from London. Can you do other local accents.â
âMmmm, sometimes, depends, Iâm pretty good with impressions.â Aziraphale grinned. âDo you think I am, dear?â He asked as he leaned in close, and Crowley realized that Aziraphale sounded like him.
âOi! What the fuck, that was so weird!â He exclaimed, then laughed. âHow the hell did ya do that?â
âIâve been around a long time, Crowley, you pick up skills.âÂ
âClearly not all the skills youâve picked up youâve mastered like that.â
âWhatever do you mean?â
âIâve seen you try to perform magic tricks, angel.â Crowley smirked. âYouâre terrible at them!â
Aziraphale looked offended at this. âHow dare-! Iâll have you know Iâm an expert! I even studied the best books on the matter! Iâve trained with one of the best in London!â
âOh, Iâm sure.â Crowley snickered and Aziraphale gave him a small shove, making Crowley tilt, his arm catching him but falling into the stream. He yelped at the icy coldness and Aziraphale laughed at this. âDo that again and youâre gonna take a dip in the pool!âÂ
âOh, youâd never do that to me.â Aziraphale laughed still, pulling him close, peppering his face with kisses as he rubbed his hand over Crowleyâs wet arm. Crowley squirmed and laughed at the affection and attention, barely registering how his arm felt dry and warm again, in just a matter of seconds, as if nothing had happened just a moment ago.Â
--
Crowley has two accents, this one southern belle one that David can do (and it reminds me of Blanche from Golden Girls), and Davidâs normal accent. This was inspired by a friend from my childhood who has a German mother and an American father and could slip between accents so easily, it was pretty impressive.Â
Aziraphale can do impersonations, just like Michael can, but he can also do perfect mimicry if he needs to. Sometimes an angel needs to do that, for angel reasons.Â

If there was something the nation of Japan adored more than Pro Hero Hawks himself, it was his wife and the little family he had with her. His family was something he always talked about when given any opportunity.
To think it had already been five years since Hawks introduced you to the world still baffles you.
When he had come up to you that one day, bringing up the dreaded question of finally bringing you and the kids into the public and media for all of the world to seeâyou were very nervous, to say the least.
You knew how terrible the media could be with all of the gossip and drama. You werenât sure if you could handle all of the attraction so suddenly. But your husband Hawks was always so reassuring and in the most nonpressuring way possible.
âIf youâre not ready, thatâs totally okay! I just thought it would be more beneficial for us if the whole world knew who you guys are,â he said gently as he brought his gloved hand towards your cheek with the softest smile. âI just want the world to finally know about my beautiful family. I donât want to keep you guys a secret anymore.â
You couldnât help but melt into his hand, bringing your own to rub those cute little avian features on his eyes gently. âI know, you sweet bird,â you coo, watching how his lips curve up the slightest. âI just donât know how this could benefit us.â
âHoney, the world is going to love you. Theyâre going to love our boys. From the pro heroes to the supportive fans I have, we have, theyâll want to protect you too. Trust me.â
Staring up into those comforting golden eyes, you took a deep breath before nodding. Of course, youâll trust him.
And soon, the fated day of your âdebutâ was finally here. In your arms, you held your sweet one year old boy, Yuto, while your three year old, Kazuto, clung onto Hawksâ legs adorably.
Though you were very nervous with all of the photographers and news outlets all around you when you turned to glance over at Hawks and saw that proud and genuine smile on his face, all of your fears washed away.
Thinking back on the memory, you let out a content sigh as a smile grew on your face. Thankfully, those last five years flew by quite smoothly with the occasional rough bumps with his angry fan club, nothing that worried you terribly.
And while life was going great for you and your growing family with Hawks, it was going terrible for a self-proclaimed number one Hawks fan.
Clutching the newspaper tightly, their eyes reread the words on the front page for the hundredth time.
âPro Hero Hawks shows his seven-month pregnant wife some PDA!â with a photo caught by the paparazzi showing the two of you sharing a kiss while holding hands.
The violent grip she held on the paper caused rips before letting out an angry scream, tearing the thin material into thousands of pieces letting it pool around her like snowflakes.
Hearing Hawksâ voice coming through the television, she finally snapped out of her thoughts and tuned in focus again, turning to face the television behind her. Her eyebrow irked in irritation as she watched how he wrapped a hand around her waist lovingly and securely.
âI donât know what I would do without her,â Hawks beams to the reporter who had asked about you, âI mean, have you seen her? Sheâs the prettiest lady I have ever laid my eyes on and the most amazing wife and mother to our kids!â
âPeople say she is blessed to be married to me, but I can say for sure I am extremely blessed to be married to herâ
Roughly turning the television off, the fan stormed into her bedroom before slamming the door shut behind her, causing the walls to shake. âHow could you do this to me!â she screamed as she ran up to tear at the photos of Hawks she had glued on the walls of her bedroom, causing the covered walls to become bare again. âI thought you loved me! I showed you unconditional love! Iâm your biggest fan! Everything was going great until thatâthat wench showed up!â
Boxes and figurines were tossed around, swung off shelves, quickly turning the room into a mess of Hawks merchandise.
It wasnât until she finally looked over at her makeshift Hawks shrine that she let out a sigh, a smile growing on her lips. âHawks, Iâm so sorry. I didnât mean it,â she cooed, walking up to the Hawks shrine before kneeling down in front of it. Reaching over to brush her finger gently over the photo of the two of themâa photo she managed to obtain at a VIP fan meet.
Pressing onto the photo where Hawks stood, she continued to stare at it lovingly, âI know you love me, Hawks. Iâll make sure that it will be just us again.â
-
âYuto, Kazuto, hurry up and get dressed so we can visit papa at work,â you say from in the kitchen as you finished preparing lunch for the four of youâfive, if you include the baby growing in your belly.
âI canât find the Endeavor doll papa gave me!â Yuto cries, running into the kitchen with tears. Turning around, you offer the boy a gentle smile before brushing your hand through his soft blonde hair.
âYuto, we can bring the Endeavor doll another time, okay? What if he gets lost today in papaâs big work building? That would be very sad, wouldnât it?â You prompt and Yuto looks down before giving you a nod.
âWe can find him together when we get back, okay? Right now, papa is waiting for us to come see him and heâs going to show you all of the cool stuff he does! We can wear our Hawks jacket instead to match papa. Doesnât that sound fun?â Hearing your words, the bright red wings on his back fluff up and flutter in joy before he runs back to his room in joy. âOkay, mama!â
Placing the fried chicken into each container neatly, you covered the lids on them and placed them in the bag nicely before Kazuto walks in and takes the bag, hauling it over his shoulder. âI got it, mom.â
âOh, honey, it might be heavy,â you try, but Kazuto shakes his head, âDonât worry, plus your belly might make you tired, so Iâll carry this for you.â
Quick little platters rang in the air before Yuto popped back into the kitchen beside his older brother, âIâm ready, mama!â
You couldnât help but smile at how cute they were, looking so handsome, just like their dad.
âOkay boys, put your shoes on and letâs head out the door to papaâs agency.â
And it was such a beautiful day for a walk. The sun was out with little to no clouds and there was just the right amount of breeze that helped keep the three of you cool during these summer days.
Even though Hawksâ agency was just a 20-minute walk, he kept insisting on calling you a cab so you wouldnât have to walk so far with the boys while pregnant. Of course, you declined, saying how it would be healthy for you and the baby to get fresh air and to walk aroundâto which he finally and hesitantly agreed on before adding a âcall me when you get here.â
It was a normal occurrence getting greeted by Hawks fans on your outings like today. Most of them along the lines of, â(Name)-san! You look great today!â or âLove to see you and the boys healthy!â and not to mention, âI love you guys!â
It was sweet seeing supportive fans that your hard-working husband has.
âAh, look! There is papaâs agency!â you say, pointing to the large and tall building, watching how your sonsâ eyes lit up in awe. âWow!â Yuto exclaims, turning over to you while fluttering his wings. âPapa works there?âÂ
âYep! Letâs go and give him a surprise!âÂ
Walking over to the crosswalk just in front of the agency, you held Yutoâs hand in yours as the three of you waited for the signal to change to allow you to cross the road. âThe roads are empty today, but we still need to watch for cars,â you point out to your boys as they began to look both ways.Â
Everyone was busy at work, so no one was on the roads besides some parked cars. The crosswalk signal changed and played a tune while you and the boys began to cross the street towards Hawksâ agency to meet up with your dear husband.Â
The sound of squealing tires from beside you had caught your attention and once you turned your head, it was already too late to dodge the oncoming vehicle speeding towards you and the boys.Â
Gasping, you tried your best to push your boys out of the way as much as you could, but it wasnât enough.Â
The corner of the car was still able to hit Yuto and Kazuto, sending them crashing a few feet away from you.Â
Unfortunately for you, the vehicle slammed head onto you. Rolling onto the hood, your head crashed into the windshield, smashing it and rolling off. A small pool of blood forming underneath your head as the car sped off.Â
Your head rang as your vision slowed significantly. Turning your head, you see your boys on the ground more than an arms length away from you as they struggled to get up.Â
Placing a shaky hand on your belly, you just hoped and prayed your baby was safe from the impact, but it wasnât looking too good for you, you noted.Â
It was surprising to you all the thoughts and information were able to process through your head after such an event.Â
A crowd quickly formed around you and the boys as the voices began fading into the background as your conscious state was beginning to fade.
âMy boys...â you say weakly to the stranger, eyes fluttering shut as your attempts to stay awake failed. âMaâam! Keep your eyes open! Someone call for help!âÂ
âGet H-Hawks,â you tried once more before you succumbed to the drowsiness. Suddenly, it clicked in someoneâs mind. âThatâs Hawksâ wife and kids! His agency is just down the road! Someone get him!â
Kazuto slowly sat up from the rough fall, looking down at himself to spot any injuries. Spreading his wings, they seemed to be in mint condition, although his hip throbbed and his leg was slightly bruising from the impact. It wasnât until he heard Yuto sobbing that he turned to check on his younger brother.
Yuto was beside him, face scrunched up, shaking and sobbing as his eyes met those of his brothers. âI think my wing is broken,â Yuto informed, turning to give his older brother a glance of his droopy wing.Â
And before Kazuto could turn to check on you, a stranger stepped in his view, blocking him from the gruesome scene where his mother lay. âHey there, friends, it looks like you both got a little bit hurt. The ambulance is on itâs way to take you and your mom to the hospital, so donât worry. Iâll sit here with you guys and keep you safe, okay?âÂ
The two boys could only nod.
-
Hawks spun around in his swivel chair eagerly as he waited for his wife and kids to arrive. Sighing, he took out his phone for the hundredth time in the last ten minutes, glancing at the last text message you sent.Â
From: wifey <3
âBe there in five minutes! see you soon papa bird! <3âÂ
But it had already been half an hour since your text. He knew that sometimes the boys took a little bit longer to get out of the house, but this was a bit off. Maybe he was just being a little impatient.
Suddenly a knock came at the door and he immediately got up to answer it, wings fluttering with excitement. But when he opened the door to find his assistant looking all frazzled, he raised a brow. âWhatâs up?âÂ
âHawks, your family,â they stammered, out of breath from running around the large building. âTheyâve been in a bad accident in front of the agency. A car-â
Before they could even finish, Hawks had spun around and jumped through a large open window from his office before flying down towards where they had mentioned.Â
His eyes darted around quickly before catching sight of a large crowd. Sending his feathers down, his heart froze when he recognized you and his boys down there.
From the height he was at, he could already tell it wasnât looking good. He could spot his boysâ wings from here, thankfully, shooting down towards them.Â
He just wanted to see his wife and kids and they end up getting hit by some low life?
Hawks landed quickly at the scene before rushing over towards his boys, who immediately noticed their fatherâs large wings. âDad!âÂ
Falling onto his knees, his hands roamed around their smaller bodies, checking for injuries before bringing them both in for a hug, relieved to see them alive and breathing. âAre you two okay?â Where does it hurt?âÂ
âMy body hurts a bit and Yutoâs wing might be broken,â Kazuto informed before Hawks immediately checked Yutoâs wing before he let out a sigh, âJust a sprain. Donât worry, birdie.â he replies, pressing a kiss to his youngestâs head.Â
âStay here, Iâm going to go check on mom. These nice people will help you two, okay? Iâm here now, donât worry.â Hawks said firmly to the boys, giving them one last embrace before the stranger before stepped back in to stay with the boys as Hawks ran over to find you.Â
Once his eyes spotted you, he felt like his heart had stopped and died there and then.Â
To put it plainly, you looked deadâblood soaked clothes, unconscious and limp on the ground as the paramedics prepared the stretcher for you.
â(Name)!â Hawks called out, running to your body only to be stopped by a paramedic. âIâm sorry Hawks, but itâs best if you leave the rest to us.âÂ
âW-where is she going?â Hawks asked as he watched them gently place your injured body onto the stretcher, following beside them and peeking at you the best he could. âWeâre going to transport her to the nearest hospital. We have to check and make sure we donât lose the baby. We donât have time for any more questions,â and with that, they carefully lifted you into the ambulance and drove off, leaving him there with a million unanswered questions.Â
He wished he could be by your side, but right now, his boys needed him.
It didnât take Hawks long to arrive at the hospital with Yuto and Kazuto. Reaching the emergency desk, Hawks immediately asked for you before receiving an answer that stopped his already shaking heart.
âThere has been complications with her pregnancy, so they have to conduct an emergency C-section to try and save the baby,â they inform, Hawksâ blood turning ice cold.
âC-Section? But sheâs only seven months along! The baby isnât ready!â He cried, wings even more frazzled than before. âI understand your concern. That is why we will do our best to make sure the baby is as healthy as possible.â
Hawks could only stare in shock before turning to his two young boys, who looked up at him worried.
âIs mama going to be okay?â Yuto asked, his wing still drooping behind him. Hawks offered a small but weak smile, âthe doctors are doing their best to make mama feel better. While they help mama, we need to get you two checked to make sure youâre doing okay,â Hawks continued, lifting Yuto into his arms.
âHowâs it going, Kazuto? Does your leg hurt too much?â Kazuto shakes his head, âIt hurts, but I can still walk slowly.â Hawks nods before reaching over to push his sonâs hair back as the three walk to get the boys checked on.
-
âHawks?â hear a soft female voice, Hawks quickly turned to see Fuyumi walking towards them with a small smile. Hawks quickly stands to greet the friendly face, âThank you for coming on such short notice, Fuyumi.â
âDonât worry about it, dad seemed worried when he told me about your situation. Anything to help a friend, right?â she says and Hawks couldnât help but give her a relieved smile.Â
âWell, these are my boys. Kazuto is my oldest and Yuto is youngest. Well, with our new baby, Miyako will be the youngest,â Hawks explains as the two boys stand beside him, looking up at Fuyumi.
âHi,â she starts, bending down towards their level, âMy name is Fuyumi, Iâm going to take care of you while your mama is getting better, okay?âÂ
Yuto clings onto Hawksâ legs, âI donât want to go.â
âYou know, my dad is the number one hero, Endeavor. Heâs kind of scary, but Iâm sure heâll teach you a thing or two about being a hero.â That caught the boysâ attention, their wings raising up.Â
âYour papa is the number one hero? My papa is the number two,â Yuto says and Fuyumi smiles at him. âThatâs cool, huh? Your papa and my papa must be great friends.â Yuto couldnât help but give her a cheeky smile, scrunching up his nose.Â
âWell, letâs say goodbye to your papa and letâs go to my house and we can eat, okay?â Gently taking their hands, Fuyumi brought them over to her side before the two boys wave goodbye to Hawks.Â
âTake care of mama, okay?â Yuto says as Hawks gives him a wink and a thumbs up. âIâll tell her about how cool you two were being such big boys and not even crying.âÂ
Hawks stepped closer towards Fuyumi, cupping his hand around his mouth, âYutoâs wing has a sprain, so make sure he doesnât use it and doesnât sleep on it if he can help it. Kazutoâs left hip and leg is in bad shape and is pretty bruised, so please keep some ice on it.âÂ
Pulling away, Fuyumi gives him a determined nod. âThanks, see you in a few days.â and with that, she left the hospital with Yuto and Kazuto in hand.Â
Letting out a sigh, Hawks carried on over towards the waiting area while he waited for your operation to finish. It had been only an hour since he had gotten here, but it felt like forever while he waited for some sort of news.Â
After some time, he finally received news, great news.Â
His daughter Miyako had been born via c-section and had no underlying health issues. Unfortunately, because she was born premature, she would need to be monitored at the hospital until she was strong enough without the help of the equipment to finally go home.Â
That was fine by Hawks, of course, anything to help his baby girl.Â
Walking down the quiet halls of the hospital room, Hawks nervously made his way into the NICU, where his baby girl, Miyako, would be staying for some time.Â
âIâm here to see Miyako, Iâm the dad,â he states before a nurse leads him over to her quiet room filled with the background noises of the equipment keeping her alive and healthy.Â
Gently walking over, Hawks peeked over where the little girl was being incubated, his heart swelling at the sight of his third child and first girl.Â
âCan I touch her?â Hawks asked the nurse behind him gently and nervously, seeing that she was tiny and barely over five pounds. âOf course, just wash your hands with soap.â
Doing just that, he made sure to take his time with cleaning his hands and forearms before drying them and making his way back to Miyako.Â
Sticking his arms into the small openings, Hawks brushed the back of his fingers across her small yet still chubby cheeks. A smile blossomed onto his lips when she stretched out from his touch and thatâs when he finally noticed the little wings perched on her back.
âYou have wings, baby girl,â Hawks commented as his fingers ran across her fuzzy grey wings. âThat makes three of us, huh?âÂ
He spent whatever time he could with her talking about himself, her brothers and her amazing mother before the nurse politely told him to leave so that Miyako could rest some more.
With all the terrible things that had happened, Miyako finally arriving was a good that broke the hardship.Â
Before he could visit your room, he was stopped in the halls by a detective who flashed him his badge, âwe found the culprit behind this attack.â Hawks frowned at the detective, âLetâs go to a more private setting,â he replied as the two made their way into a private room.Â
âWhat did you find?â Hawks questioned, mirroring the detective who pulled out a chair to sit in. âAn obsessed fan of yours,â he simply stated, tossing out a photo towards the winged man, âfound this in the vehicle she was driving when she hit your wife and kids,â I assume you recognize the girl?âÂ
Staring at the photo in his hand, Hawks let out a groan as he slumped back on his chair, âI shouldâve never suggested bringing (Name) and the kids out into the public,â Hawks sighed.
âThis would have never happened.â
-
âKeigo?âÂ
âWhat is it, sweetheart?â he hums, fixing the vase full of your favorite flowers before walking over to you and sitting in the chair that sat beside your hospital bed.Â
âHow are the boys doing?â you asked, rubbing your thumb on the back of his hand gently when he slipped his hand into yours.Â
It had been a day since you woke up, but three days since you had been admitted to the hospital, Hawks being one of the only people you had seen, including the doctors and your bedside nurses.Â
âWell, they miss you thatâs for sure,â he smiles and you offer one back. âAre they injured? I wasnât able to check up on them before Iâwell, you know,â you try, but Hawks shifts your thoughts away when he leans over to press a kiss to your forehead.
âYuto just has a sprained wing and Kazutoâs a little bruised, but theyâre being cared at, at the number oneâs house,â your eyes widened, âEndeavorâs?âÂ
âWell, technically, Fuyumi is watching over them,â Hawks continues and you relax once again with a smile, âFuyumi has always been good with kids. They must be having a good time with her.âÂ
âAnd Miyako? How is she?â
âSheâs cute and small and has these cute grey fuzzy wings on her back,â Hawks says with a small giggle, âher nurse says sheâs doing just fine and should be able to go home in a few weeks. They still want her to cook a bit in the incubator.âÂ
You smile at him before closing your eyes and resting back on your pillow with a relieved sigh, âIâm glad that theyâre all okay. I miss them so much.â
Hawks brings a hand to your cheek and you open your eyes to look up at him, nuzzling into his warm and large palm, âWhatâs wrong, honey?âÂ
âI just feel like this is all my fault,â he starts, bringing his hand back as his gaze drops down to his lap, âI shouldâve never asked to bring you and the boys out into the public. It was selfish of me, you guys wouldâve been safer and this wouldâve never happened.âÂ
âKeigo, itâs not your fault,â you say, placing a hand on his cheek, but your movement was restricted due to the IV needle in your arm. Hawks brings your hand down to your lap, opting to hold it in his larger ones instead.Â
âWe didnât know this wouldâve happened, plus it was just a crazy fan! Instead of you being mad, I should be mad because someone thinks they love you more than how much I love you!â you exclaim and Hawks couldnât help the small smile on his lips.Â
âTrust in yourself,â motioning him closer, you pressing a kiss onto his lips before a teasing smile formed on your lips âI love you more than you can ever imagine, you dumb bird.âÂ
And Hawks tucked your words into his heart and decided to trust himself on his next bizarre ideaâvisiting that crazy fan of his in prison.
Sitting in the cool, metal chair, Hawks waited patiently in front of the barrier for the guards to bring out his so called, number one fanâthe person who tried to take out his whole family.Â
It wasnât until she came into view and noticed him that her eyes seemed to light up in shock and joy. Throwing herself on the chair, she grabbed the phone as fast as she could, bringing it up to her ear. Hawks doing the same.
âH-Hawks? Itâs really you! You came! You really came to see me!â she cried, and Hawks did not give her a spec of emotion.Â
âIâm only here to tell you a few things,â he started and she nodded excitedly. âYou are a fan of mine and I adore and cherish my fans,â Hawks states, her cheeks turning rosy at his words. âI would expect you to do something as simple as respect me as a person, as a pro hero, and to respect my familyâmy wife and my kids.â
âI only did what I did because I love you!â she shot back and Hawks glared her down with his sharp eyes, âand because of that, Iâm disappointing that you even have the nerve to call yourself my fan. Iâve blacklisted you from attending any of my fan meets or events.â
Her eyes widened before she began to shake her head in disbelief, âNo, no, no...You donât mean that! Hawks no!â
âBut I doubt youâd be leaving prison anytime soon for attempted murder on three cases,â He shoots back, her sobs and wails audible through the thick barrier between them.
âBut I love you!â she cries desperately, âdonât do this!â
Hanging up the phone, Hawks turned around as the wails from the unfortunate girl filled the air behind him, leaving him feeling lighter than ever.
And it seemed as if things continued to get better from thereon.Â
You sat in your hospital bed excited yet nervously as the nurse carefully transported Miyako into your arms for the first time. As the infant shifted around in discomfort, you gently cooed at her, Miyako recognizing your voice.Â
âMiyako, itâs mama. Iâm sorry it took us so long to finally meet,â you say with a large smile as she turned to face youâher poofy and fuzzy wings resting over your arms warmly.
Hawks watched in adoration of the sight of his two favorite girls finally together in each otherâs arms. Miyako no longer needed any medical assistance and you, finally bandaged and needle free.Â
âMiyakoâs been doing perfectly fine without any of the medical equipment and should be able to go home in the next few days,â your nurse says and your head shoots over towards Hawksâ excitedly.Â
âHoney, honey,â you chirp, âWe can finally go home in a few days!â
Hawks couldnât help the chuckle and smile that formed on his lips, especially from how excited you were. You had been in this hospital for nearly a month now and eager to see your boys and to finally be home.Â
Leaning over, Hawks pressed a warm kiss onto your lips before running his finger over Miyakoâs plump cheeks.Â
âI canât wait to have you home and in my arms again.âÂ
And did that day finally come.Â
You and Hawks made your way around the hospital with Miyako sound asleep in a stroller, thanking all the doctors and nurses for their help.Â
And to your surprise, Kazuto, Yuto and Fuyumi were at the main doors waiting for the three of you.Â
âMama!â they cried before taking off towards you. Yuto wrapped his small arms around your legs as Kazuto, who was just a bit taller, wrapped his arms around your waist gently, pressing his face into your side.Â
âMy boys, I missed you both so much,â you cried, pressing kisses all over their faces, seeing them light up with joy after being separated for so long.Â
âWould you like to see your little sister?â You ask with a curious smile, watching them suddenly turn timid, but slowly, they made their way to the stroller and found a little baby girl sleeping comfortably.
âSheâs so small,â Kazuto notes, glancing back up at you with his proud big brother smile. âHi, Miyako. Youâre so cute,â Yuto giggles, watching her stir.
You couldnât help but lean into Hawks at the sight. Everything was right. Even when you finally had the energy to check your phone, you were surprised to see how all the support from friends, family, and fans alike.
âThe agency called and said we have like a million gifts from the fans to pick up. A lot of them are âget wellâ gifts for you and the boys and some are baby gifts for Miya,â Hawks states with a smile and you tilt your head at him teasingly.Â
âMiya? You already gave her a nickname?â you tease and he couldnât help but look away with a blush which made you laugh. âWell, Miya is going to have the best papa bird and brother birds in the world.âÂ
But the feeling of being at home, away from the world and just with your family topped everything else.Â
You were in Hawksâ arms, resting comfortably and watching as your two young boys watched Miyako in awe, commenting about how cute she was or how cute her small grey wings were every minute.Â
âKeigo, Iâm so happy,â you state, leaning into his body more as you let out a content sigh. âThank you for everything,â glancing up, his gold eyes were already on you before the two of you connected with a kiss.
âI should be saying that to you, dove. Youâve given me a whole family to love.â
And for all the bad that had happened, being able to rest in the love of your lifeâs arms with your newly expanded family, seemed to wash all of that away.

It's me again and I'd like to write a few more points if you don't mind I want to hear more about the beautiful Uncle Divus.
His red car is parked at one of the empty intersections on a dark, late night. Crowley gave them experiment # Y26. The baby was fast asleep in the cradle in the back seat. Divus glanced nervously in the rearview mirror. Nervously tapping his fingers on the steering wheel, Divus tried to control his intense irritation and anger. His car was at the traffic light for 40 minutes, the green light has already lit up more than 8 times. - leave the baby under the bridge to go through all the hardships... What were you thinking, Crowley?! - Cruel swore. Divus hears a soft hoot from the baby. His expression softens. - I'm sorry, I didn't mean to disturb you. - Divus turns and adjusts his blanket. A small, completely helpless and such a cute child. What did he deserve at the birth of such a stupid biological father? - you are not to blame for anything, baby...I promise you, you won't end up under the bridge all alone. - Cruel gently touches the baby's plump, rosy cheek with his fingertips. - not today, not ever. But what can I offer you? - ĐĄruel frantically considered all the options he could do in such a situation. Putting them in a shelter was too risky. He will not give his creation to any outsiders. What if they treat them badly? Divus leaned back wearily in the driver's seat, running a hand over his face. - there aren't many options, are there, little one? It's more complicated than all the chemical formulas I know. - ĐĄruel chuckled, and then it hit him. His sister. His sister and her husband really wanted a child, but they could not do it. A soft and sly smile blossomed on his face. - I think I have a solution! - Cruel said smugly, settling himself more comfortably in his chair, and immediately jumped in surprise as the baby began to sob and cry softly. - sorry, sorry, kid. Well, well.don't cry. I give you my promise, you will be in the most beautiful family, I am sure they will love you with all their heart. How can you not love such charm? And I'll be your cool, adorable, and unique Uncle Divus. I will pamper you with gifts for all holidays and birthdays. Cruel froze for a moment, realizing his own words. - Uncle Divus..hah..who knew that under such circumstances I would become an uncle. Divus chuckled and finally turned the car in the direction of the desired turn *** TWST Anita looks in amazement at her brother in the middle of night and the baby in the baby's cradle. - Divus are you serious?! She still couldn't believe it. - More serious than ever. You'll make an amazing mother, I'm sure of it. - oh...Divus.. Can I see them? - His sister curiously picked up the baby blanket and looked at the road-weary Yuu, who was dozing peacefully with his arms and legs spread out as comfortably as he could. - Of course. So...If you need time to think, I'll understand. - I agree, Divus. But I must discuss it with my husband. Will you stay the night?" And we'll give you an answer this afternoon. A heavy stone was suddenly lifted from Kruel's shoulders, and a glimmer of hope was all he needed. - I'll be happy to stay with you.
Over the weekend, Divus visited his Yuu. Such a good and intelligent child, full of curiosity and mischief. Let Crowley suffocate at the very thought that he missed such a rare opportunity to educate and see a child grow up. Although what the thought was, Crowley hadn't even mentioned the baby in so long. - Uncle Divvy? - Little Yuu looks with interest at the man in the housecoat and the glass of wine in his hand. - What's wrong, puppy?- Divus gently pats the child's head. Yuu quite calmly climbs on the sofa, although not at the first attempt due to inexperience how to manage his body, but Kruel melted at the sight of the child carefully climbs on the sofa, and then sit on his knees. Especially since this little brash child allowed himself to behave like this with the great genius Kruel, whom Crowley himself was sometimes afraid of because of his experiments. And this fragile child would climb on his lap without asking. After fiddling with his pocket, Yuu handed Cruel a small bundle wrapped in a child's handkerchief. - I brought you some cheese and a couple of grapes. Dad said you'd like the taste. Cruel had to take all his fortitude not to burst out laughing at this cute action. "Thank you, little puppy, but I think this small dinner will be just a small snack for me.
Yuu's nose furrowed slightly - Mom said you can't eat like a hamster before dinner. - And she's absolutely right. By the way I heard that you are already learning to play the piano? Yuu lowers her head in embarrassment. - Uh-huh...Only I'm still small and I can't reach the pedals at the bottom. Putting the glass of wine on the table, Divus lay down on the sofa and put the baby on his chest. - all in good time, pup. TEST Anita comes into the room. - Divus you accidentally not saw. M? - she sees that Cruel dozed off on couch and curled up have uncle on breast peacefully sniffed in its fist Yuu. A small sleeping idyll in all its beauty, peacefully dozing on the sofa. What Cruel wanted Yuu to have.
Years later, Divus always watches every report, every interview or article from Yuu and his cameraman Yuuken. He is a good guy and takes care of Yuu like a great friend, which was to the delight of Divus. - Today we will conduct an interview with you at the national museum to personally see the main exhibition of this year! - Yuu spoke happily and full of admiration on the screen. - Beautiful work. Amazing exhibits and the most interesting stories are waiting for you today! - Yuu is suddenly interrupted by the Poison Queen, who bursts into the exhibition along with her minions and lieutenants. - Behold the greatest beauty!! Yuu sighs heavily and gets annoyed. - Why, all of you!!I have a live broadcast here!!Pick up your Poison Queen plume and let me run the story in peace!!I waited for this exhibition for six months and begged the boss for two more months to hold the broadcast here!!!Come on!!Shoo-shoo-shoo!!Not today!! Yuuken from the side of it is not visible on the screen. - In fact, the Poison Queen, let's at least today without incident!! The Poison Queen was in amazement that they were talking to him like this - you two don't know manners and decency?!? Yuu and Yuuken - Get out of here and let the others do their work!! Cruel was choking with laughter on the other side of the screen. - still the same cheeky pup. I can do a lot of these little scenarios, to be honest. And thank you for reading it!
aaaaaAAAAAAAAAAH!!!
Soft uncle Divvy!! Being so proud of his little sassy experiment!! I love this so much!!
Thank you so much for writing more!! I am HONORED that this AU inspires you enough to write about it!!

Ooh okay I have a song fix request for Cale makar!!! You are in love by Taylor Swift
Okay, so this song is perfect for Cale. I wasnât sure quite how to write this but then I realized it was kind of a perfect short form format for an ongoing concept Iâve talked about with @makethecupbigger. So I hope you enjoy it and if you have any questions about the full mental story (because I skimmed and skipped a lot of things) feel free to ask. This ended up being 1,868 words including the song lyrics.Â
__________
One look, dark room
Meant just for you
Time moved too fast, you play it back
Buttons on a coat, lighthearted joke
No proof, not much, but you saw enough
Meeting Cale had been a surprise, another twist on the roller coaster of your life. From losing your older sister and becoming a mother to your four-month-old niece to picking up everything and moving across the country to Denver, Colorado, it was too much for a 22-year-old to handle.Â
That was probably why when you met a beautiful blonde woman at a music class for your now six-month-old little one, you spilled out everything in response to her soft eyes and caring question.Â
That conversation was how youâd ended up spending a Sunday afternoon watching football in the home of Gabe Landeskog, captain of the Colorado Avalanche. Youâd been shocked and slightly embarrassed when he answered the door, greeting you and taking the plate of cookies youâd brought along before ushering you and the tiny bundle in your arms into the house with a warm smile. How had you not placed it before? You werenât sure but you did your best to not freak out, instead greeting Mel and letting her take your jackets before making your way to the living room where Matt Calvert and his wife Courtney were located.Â
Youâd been cuddling little Emerson when Cale had walked through the door just as the game kicked off having been out in the backyard playing with the Calvertâs boys. Youâd felt his eyes on you immediately and you ducked your head into Emersonâs tiny body in response. The feeling of his eyes barely left you for the rest of the afternoon as you cheered at the game and when Emerson crawled across the living room floor and pulled her tiny body onto the young defensemanâs lap his soft voice spoke directly to you for the first time assuring you that she was fine. The sight of him brushing his fingers against the fine coating of dark hair on her head made your heart do things it had never done before and as you moved to leave so you could get Emerson to bed you thanked him softly as he held her while you buttoned your coat. You joked that you appreciated him humoring her because she evidently wasnât used to the avid sports fan side of you just yet and the way he looked at you spoke so many things you didnât understand, couldnât understand for so many reasons.Â
The light reflects the chain on your neck
He says, "Look up"
And your shoulders brush
No proof, one touch, but you felt enough
It had been a few weeks since that afternoon watching football when Mel had invited you and Emerson to join her and Gabe and Linnea and Matt and Courtney and the kids on a weekend hike. Being in a new city with no one to rely on and an infant that needed constant care was hard and you appreciated Melâs efforts to make sure that you werenât completely detached from the outside world.Â
When youâd met them at the national park, you were surprised to see Cale there but you chalked up his presence to some team bonding thing and just tried to focus on the beautiful warm fall day. Of course, the problem with going on a hike with a bunch of pro athletes and their families was that while normally this hike would be no problem, you werenât used to doing this kind of thing with a 16-pound baby attached to your chest. Emersonâs presence had thrown your weight off balance a couple of times and though you had thankfully been able to steady yourself, you could feel your stamina weakening as the group stopped by a stream to take a short break.Â
It had been Melâs suggestion for you to let Cale carry Emerson for a while. Looking over at the now shirtless defenseman he assured you that he was willing if you wanted before coming over as you unstrapped the baby from your own chest to affix her to Caleâs. Struggling with one of the straps Cale murmured for you to look up and after a moment you were helping to shift Emerson to him, your fingers brushing against his solid muscles accidentally. The touch sent sparks through your body, sparks that were foreign to you. Between the sparks and the way Cale holding Emerson like she was weightless looked you knew you were in trouble, you just didnât know how much.Â
You can hear it in the silence (Silence), silence (Silence), you
You can feel it on the way home (Way home), way home (Way home), you
You can see it with the lights out (Lights out), lights out (Lights out)
You are in love, true love
You are in love
When Cale had finally asked you out, you were hesitant. You had baggage, more baggage than Cale could possibly understand, more baggage than it would ever be fair to dump on him. But he persisted, insisting that he didnât care that you were a mom, that he thought Emerson was adorable and didnât care if dates with you also meant dates with her. It was only then that youâd learned of and corrected his misconceptions, that Emerson wasnât biologically your daughter and therefore none of this was that easy.Â
Cale was patient though, he didnât push but he kept coming around. He made it his goal to prove to you that you could let him in and that there was nothing that would scare him away. For months you assumed that if he loved anyone it was Emerson because how could you not love her but eventually Cale started tumbling your walls not brick by brick but crumbling them all at once.Â
Morning, his place
Burnt toast, Sunday
You keep his shirt, he keeps his word
And for once, you let go
Of your fears and your ghosts
One step, not much, but it said enough
Months of casual dates and tiptoeing around things turned more serious with a simple knock on a door. It had been your sisterâs birthday, the first since her passing, and you found yourself drowning in waves of grief, unable to keep yourself afloat. Driving aimlessly for a while had led you to Caleâs place and when you knocked on the door, a sleeping baby in your arms he accepted you into his home without question, pulling you close and holding you tight. You told him everything that night and he didnât run, didnât pull away. Instead, he only pulled you closer, dressing you in one of his shirts before cuddling close, letting you cry nearly a yearâs worth of bottled-up tears.Â
When you left the next morning you left some of your baggage abandoned, taking with you instead his shirt and a piece of something bigger and better.Â
You kiss on sidewalks
You fight and you talk
One night, he wakes
Strange look on his face
Pauses, then says "You're my best friend"
And you knew what it was, he is in love
Bigger and better comes with bumps in the road and on at least one occasion you screamed at him wondering why he was even bothering with someone like you. Yet somehow, you made it through, trying to be there for him the same way he was for you.Â
When the Avs were eliminated from playoffs you werenât sure what to do or how Cale would respond so you opted to give him space for the first night. But when he didnât respond to you the next day you made your way to his place finding him a shell of himself in bed. Crawling in beside him, you and Emerson spent the whole day just taking care of him and loving him and when he woke that night thanking you, you knew that it wasnât just Emerson he loved, it was you.Â
You can hear it in the silence (Silence), silence (Silence), you
You can feel it on the way home (Way home), way home (Way home), you
You can see it with the lights out (Lights out), lights out (Lights out)
You are in love, true love
Being loved by Cale and loving him in return was everything you didnât know was possible. It was waking up in his arms. It was snuggling on the couch. It was watching him with Emerson, being a dad you never thought sheâd have. It was the way he defended you to his parents, the way heâd asked you to spend the summer with him in Calgary.Â
It was seeing your little girl surrounded by rose petals in the yard of your summer rental before turning to find him on one knee promising to love you forever.Â
And so it goes
You two are dancing in a snow globe, 'round and 'round
And he keeps a picture of you in his office downtown
And you understand now
Why they lost their minds and fought the wars
And why I've spent my whole life trying to put it into words
You married on a snowy November morning in the woods of the same park where youâd taken your first hike just months after getting engaged. As you stood wrapped in Caleâs arms to ward off the cold, you finally knew that this was it, this is real and true and forever. Later, when you slow danced in the home Cale had purchased for you, the first family photo, one from your wedding just hours earlier, hung on the living room wall, as so many family photos would in the years to come.Â
'Cause you can hear it in the silence
You can feel it on the way home
You can see it with the lights out
You are in love, true love
You are in love
When you found out you were expecting your first child together you heard it in his shock and awe.Â
When you drove home beside your Stanley Cup-winning husband you felt it.Â
And when you slipped into bed after feeding your newborn daughter you could see it as his eyes glimmered with love.Â
You can hear it in the silence (Silence), silence (Silence), you
You can feel it on the way home (Way home), way home (Way home), you
You can see it with the lights out (Lights out), lights out (Lights out)
You are in love, true love
You are in love
You can hear it in the silence (Silence), silence (Silence), you
You can feel it on the way home (Way home), way home (Way home), you
You can see it with the lights out (Lights out), lights out (Lights out)
You are in love, true love
You are in love
When youâd met Cale by surprise on a Sunday afternoon, you never knew that it would lead to so many happy years of marriage, six wonderful kids, three Stanley Cups, and so many many joys.Â
That every day you would hear, feel, and see Caleâs love for you all around. That you would ever know true love.

Okay so Iâm such a hoe for fics that I probably have about a hundred on queue but I canât help appreciate all the works that these awesome writers put here on Tumblr and AO3.Â

Slipping Through My Fingers
Read here on AO3!
When it comes to his children, Bruce has very few regrets. He loves them completely, scars and all. He wouldnât want to change a single part of them.
But he canât lie and say that he doesnât regret the timing with which each of these beautiful souls entered his life. Bruce has six children, but heâs never had a baby, and isnât that wrong? Isnât that a pity? He missed so much of their livesâso many milestones that every parent wants to remember forever but that heâs not even had glimpses of. He wasnât there for the first steps or the lost teeth or learning how to ride a bike. He missed all of his children learning to talk, missed watching Sesame Street with them in the morning and making soapy mohawks in the bathtub. Bruce missed everything. He missed moments that he canât get back, no matter how hard he yearns for a rewind. Take him back. Return to him the moments he lost without even knowing it until theyâd already slipped through his fingers. Bruce has a few mementos to get him by, but they only grant him glimpses of the years he missed. Dick has a bin of old tapes from the Flying Graysonsâ best performances that he likes to watch on bad days. Occasionally heâll let Bruce watch with him. Thereâs something magical about watching the young boy in the tapes swing on the trapeze and pull gravity-defying moves, all the while knowing what a strong man that boy will one day become. Jason came to the manor with very little, having to travel light while on the streets. Thereâs a shoebox under the bed in his old room salvaged from his motherâs things, containing a handful of photos from Jasonâs toddler years, a stuffed animal or two, some loose possessions. Bruce used to go through them after Jasonâs death, just to give himself something to hold on to. Tim had more than Dick and Jason combined: plenty of photos, report cards, baby teeth, and coloring books all saved in storage. But as much as there was, Bruce still only had glimpses of the real Tim. Every family photo was stiff, like an assortment of plastic dolls. The papers and drawings that have been collected are too crisp, like they were shoved into a childhood folder and forgotten about without a second glance, not even making it to the refrigerator. All Bruce has of Cassâ childhood are videotapes of training sessions. He refuses to watch them, for both her sake and his own. Duke has a photo album he keeps in his bedroom, compiling plenty of baby pictures and family vacations. Heâs only shown it to Bruce once. Otherwise, he keeps it in his bookshelf, untouched but for the handful of times heâs visited his parents, showing them old memories in case it will miraculously jog something and put the shards of them back together. The longer it doesnât work, the less heâs willing to tell. The League of Assassins has an entire storage room of files on Damianâs development. Bruce has seen it. Itâs like every move the boy made was monitored and catalogued, detailed without so much as a lick of emotion to remind anyone that this was a child being discussed. There were no shiny milestones to celebrate, only completed stages. No one commemorated his first word or first time seeing a butterfly, but his first time using a wakizashi sword earned five entire pages. If Bruce could go back in time, he would snatch up every one of his children and give them the lives they deserve, right from the start. No pain. No dead parents. No neglect, no heartache, no scavenging on the streets just to survive the night. He would wipe their slates clean if it meant he could stave off their suffering, just for a little while longer. He would do anything to go back.
Back when Bruce was a child and tragedy hadnât yet torn his family to bloody shreds, there was one Fourth of July on which his parents took him to the circus. Alfred had an open invitation to accompany them, but, being a Brit, he politely declined from the dayâs festivities. âIâll have you know, young sir, that I served as a spy for the British forces and mentored Alexander Hamilton during his teenage years.â Bruce was ninety-nine percent sure that Alfred wasnât alive during the American Revolution. That day was the first time Bruce had been to the circus. It was a local one, small with very few extravagant spectacles, but his father bought him peanuts and afterward the three of them watched the fireworks in Gotham Park. It was a day that imprinted itself on Bruceâs memory, sticking with him long after they were gone. So when he sees a flyer announcing that Halyâs International Traveling Circus is visiting Metropolis on the same day Bruce has an interview with Lois Lane for some column on Americaâs wealthiest men, how can he turn the opportunity down? The air is warmed by summer rays, the entire field radiating Metropolisâ natural brightness. The scent of peanuts and popcorn wafts from all sides and the classic tinkling circus music fills his ears. The show doesnât start for another half hour, so Bruce settles on walking around, unsure of what to do with himself. He should get some photos to bring home for Alfred. Heâs always had a fascination with jugglers. After some perusing, Bruce pulls up under a tree, shaded against the thick trunk. Heâs just pressed send on the pictures to Alfred when he hears a voice from above. âHey, mister.â Bruce looks up to discover a boy perched on a tree branch two feet above his head. The kid looks around six years old with black hair that curls around his ears. Heâs wearing a bright red and green costumeâobviously one of the performers. How a child his age came to be part of the circus, Bruce canât begin to guess. Heâs missing his front teeth and his skin, tan with a honey glow, makes his nationality hard to place. Bruce blinks up at the boy. âHello.â The kid drops down and catches on the branch with his hands, dangling with his bare feet kicking in the air. âWhatcha doing here?â Now that heâs paying attention, Bruce can detect the slightest accent. Romani, perhaps? âWhy does anyone come to the circus?â The boy laughs. âYou donât look like the kind of person who goes to the circus.â âThen what kind of person do I look like?â The boy thinks, swinging back and forth like a cartoon monkey. How his hands arenât scraped raw from gripping the rough bark, Bruce doesnât know. âA lawyer, maybe. Or a president.â The corner of Bruceâs mouth lifts. âIâm neither of those things, unfortunately.â âWell, Iâm an acrobat.â âI can see that.â âBut I do other stuff too,â the kid tells him, âlike I know how to juggle and how to walk on stilts and how to throw knives at targets. Iâm getting real good at that.â âAre you sure a kid your age should be playing with knives?â The boy laughs. âYou think knives are scary? You should see it when they let me play with the tigers.â Bruce arches an eyebrow. âYou play with tigers?â That canât be safe. Maybe he should have a talk with the ringmaster and make sure someone is ensuring that no little boy heads are getting bitten off by mighty jaws. âOh yeah, the tigers are the best.â The kid swings his body upward, letting go of the branch and pulling a heart-stopping somersault midair as he falls. He lands on his feet without a wobble. âI know all of their names and theyâre huge, like theyâre this bigââhe stretches out his arms as far as they will go, which makes the tigers a whopping two and a half feet tallââand sometimes Iâm even allowed to ride them!â Bruce leans back against the tree trunk, crossing his arms with a smile. âIs that right?â âYeah!â The kid then launches into a string of chatter, so fast that it takes all of Bruceâs focus to keep up. He tells Bruce all about the circusâ tigers: what breed they are, how many they have, what they eat, what their names are (their actual names and the names the kid gave them; Marshmallow is his favorite), and how his dad once gave him permission to hold a hoop while a tiger leapt through it. The entire time, Bruce canât help but wonder, is this what childhood is supposed to be like? Swinging on tree branches and giving oral reports about your favorite animals to complete strangers? Is this what growing up is like for normal children? Bruce doesnât know whether to be envious of this little boy or concerned. Heâs so innocent; it bleeds from every grin. Thereâs nothing weighing this kid downâliterally and figurativelyâand Bruce finds himself silently praying to a being he doesnât believe in that it never changes. Let this kid stay pure, untouched by the evils of the world. Let him go his whole life swinging on branches and talking about tigers without a single setback. After a good ten minutes when the boyâs tumbled into a handstand and has moved on to tell Bruce about his favorite elephant Zitka, a feminine voice rings, âThere you are, Dick. Iâve been looking everywhere for you!â A beautiful woman approaches the pair, wearing an identical red and green leotard. Sheâs got matching black hair and blue eyesâtoo spitting of an image to be anyone but his mother. âCome on, sweetheart, weâre supposed to be backstage.â âSorry, Mom,â Dick says, turning right-side up, but he hasnât lost his grin. Now that he thinks of it, Bruce doesnât recall it waning once in the entire time theyâve been talking. She takes in Bruce, suit and all, and plasters on a stage smile, sticking out her hand. âMary Grayson. Youâll have to forgive my son, he gets excited easily. Heâll talk your ear off for hours if you let him.â But the glimmer in her eye gives Bruce an inclination that she has no problem being an audience for her sonâs happy rants. Bruce shakes her hand. âBruce. I take it youâre the Flying Graysons Iâve been hearing so much about?â âThe very same. I hope youâll be seeing our show tonight.â âI wouldnât miss it for the world.â He winks at the littlest Grayson, who beams. Mary ruffles Dickâs hair. âWell, this little robin and I should be getting ready now. It was a pleasure meeting you, Bruce.â âLikewise.â He leans down and shakes Dickâs small hand. âAnd if you ever come to Gotham, maybe you can tell me more about those tigers, eh?â Dick looks like he contains the sun itself. Heâs sunshine incarnate. âDefinitely!â He drags his feet when his mom starts leading him away, rolling her eyes good-naturedly. âBye, Mr. Bruce!â He waves his hand like a windmill of its hinges, and Bruce canât help but return it. Bruce hasnât felt this content in a long time to the point where he has to stop in wonderment of it. Itâs unlikely that Halyâs will end up coming to a place like Gotham anytime soon, but Bruce hopes for it anyway. After all, Gotham could use some sunshine.
Hereâs the rest of it on AO3 because I donât feel like formatting all 7,000 words on here lmao.

The Ranch {7}
An A Court of Thorns and Roses, Nesta x Cassian, Modern AU, fanfiction.
Collaboration: @throne-of-ashes-and-beautyâ x @tacmcâ
Summary: Nesta had spent years in Paris, living her dream and drowning in riches as a gourmet chef, capturing the hearts of the city and its people. But, after her father passes away unexpectedly and leaves his cozy, countryside B&B to his oldest daughter, Nesta is moving back home to the tiny town of Velaris, where the ranch, her sisters, and her fatherâs unfulfilled dream, awaits.
Sidenote: Being posted between two blogs, it is too chaotic to keep up with a tags list, so all chapters will be tagged with â#TheRanchNessianâ & â#SharaCollabâ.
A/N: We are absolutely blown away by how much yâall enjoy this story. Weâve loved writing it for you and we get just as excited for a new chapter as yâall do! Enjoy. xx
The Ranch Masterlist
Nesta hated going to school.
She felt so overwhelmed, so crowded, so completely lost in the sea of people that filled the halls of Velaris High School. Elain and Feyre had always found their place within those halls fairly quickly, absolutely, but Nesta floated. She went from one class to the next, sticking her nose in a book every chance she got. She didnât make friends. Didnât have acquaintances.
She did have one go-to, but he didnât go to VHS. He was in the next town over.Â
Tomas Mandray.
As soon as she sat down at her desk in algebra, she pulled out her phone. She had three missed messages.
10:31 - Hey. Iâm planning on picking you up later.Â
10:42 - We could stay in, if you want. (;
10:56 - Iâll be out of town this weekend, so spend time with me now.
At first, Nesta almost didnât reply, but then she typed back, Iâll be ready at 7.
She hated that she loved Tomas Mandray.Â
âââ
At seven oâclock on the dot, there was a knock on the front door of the house.
âThat's Tomas, Iâll be home later!â Nesta hollered, trying to get out of the house before her father could drag her boyfriend into another conversation about the merits of a lightweight rope versus one with more snap.
âHold on just a minute!â Isaac called, coming from the kitchen. âThat boy is headed to Guthrie this weekend.â Nesta groaned as she pulled open the door and her father practically yanked him through the threshold. âYou planning on bringing home a buckle?â
âYes, sir,â Tomas smiled, shaking his hand. âAlways.â
Isaac nodded and said, âDamn straight, I remember my trip to the National Championship, granted, I rode Broncs, mind you, but-.â
âDad, we have to go. We have reservations,â Nesta coolly lied. âIâll be home around 10:30.â
Her father waved her comments off. âNah, donât worry about a curfew tonight.â He rested his hands on Tomasâ shoulders. âItâs not everyday your future son-in-law makes it to the National Junior Rodeo Championship.â
Nestaâs cheeks burned. âRight. Well, we really have to go.â
She was hurrying out the door, dragging Tomas by the hand as she did so.
âGood to see you, Mr. Archeron!â Tomas called, as Nesta shut the front door behind them. âI like talking to your dad.â
âYeah, well, I donât,â Nesta said. She hated when Isaac talked to Tomas. He was so certain that he and Nesta would be together forever, and the thought often made her sick to her stomach yet hopeful at the same time. It was a strange combination.Â
She climbed up into the passenger side of Tomasâs truck and leaned back as he took off.Â
âI missed you.â
Nesta nodded. âYou, too.â
He reached across the middle of the seat and took her hand. âSo, will you be coming to watch me this weekend? Itâs the National-â
â-Junior Rodeo Championship, yeah, I know,â she finished.
âDamn, whatâs stuck up your ass?â he muttered.
âNothing,â Nesta sighed. âI wish we could, but dad says we have two couples staying the whole weekend.â
As much as she hated to admit it, she was almost relieved when her father told her that a group of friends had booked the weekend last minute. The last thing she wanted to deal were the buckle bunnies in training that followed the rodeos around. She wouldnât have to deal with the cheap beer and the greasy food and tobacco spit and the blood and sweat and (usually) tears.
His thumb rubbed a circle into the back of her hand. âWell, maybe just you could come. You could leave with me after lunch tomorrow. You know your dad would sign you out.â
She shook her head. âI canât, they need me to cook for the guests.â
It was true. No one else in the house had an ounce of culinary ability, and it just so happened to be Nestaâs favorite thing in the world.
Tomas frowned. âNo one else can cook for the guests?â
Nesta shook her head. âNone as good as me. Besides, I love cooking.â
âCooking is a stupid thing to love,â Tomas said, and Nesta stilled. âWhy cook when you can come watch me win a national title?âÂ
She didnât answer. She didnât have an answer that would please him.Â
âBesides, after we graduate, youâll be coming with me on the road all the time,â he went on. âMay as well get used to it now.â
âIâm not sure I want to go on the road all the time,â Nesta said. âYou know itâs my dream to open my own restaurant, I canât really do that if Iâm travelling with you.â
Tomas shook his head, laughing quietly. âCome on, Nes.â
âCome on, what?â She asked, turning to look at him. âItâs all Iâve ever wanted to do. Is my dream not as important as yours?â
âOf course not, thatâs not what Iâm trying to say, babe. Itâs just,â he reached over and skimmed his knuckles across her cheekbone. âIf you stay here and open a restaurant, and I go pro, weâre never going to see each other.â They came to a stop at a red light. He turned to her. âI love you. Donât you love me?â
Her eyebrows furrowed. âOf course, I do.â
âThen you need to come with me. So we can be together. Promise me youâll think about it.â
Nesta only nodded, agreeing that yes, she would think about it, but she already knew it wouldnât happen. She wasnât made for the rodeo life.
Just like her mother hadnât been.
It was because of her mother that they even had the ranch, because she loved Nestaâs father, but didnât love the city to city, night to night lifestyle he lived in the professional rodeo circuit. So after they got married, and Nesta was on her way, her mother had convinced Isaac to hang up his ropes and buy the ranch. And heâd loved it.
And it worked for them, Nestaâs parents. Isaac found his love in ranching, they got to be together and raise their girls. But Tomas would never be that. He was too hard headed, too stuck in the rodeo life. He loved it, and Nesta had to admire that, but she didnât have to give up her dreams for that admiration.Â
She was going to become a chef.
She was going to stay put, in the city, or maybe go somewhere like Paris or Barcelona or Tokyo. All she knew was that the last place she wanted to be was stuck in a truck, driving from city to city for the fucking rodeo.
She just didnât know how to tell Tomas that, because Tomas never accepted an answer that wasnât the one he wanted to hear.
Nesta was so caught up in her own thoughts that it took her nearly fifteen minutes to realize they werenât on the way to the restaurant. But it took her only a few seconds later to realize where they were going. âTomas, please, not tonight. We canât have one night without it?â
He gestured to the arena. âItâs a round robin, babe. Iâll run eight head max and walk out of here seven hundred dollars richer.â Nesta only rolled her eyes and looked out the window. He went on, âPlus, I heard from Beron there will be sponsors here tonight. Granted, theyâre here for some big headed jock from VHS, but once they see me, he wonât matter.â
Nesta stopped listening, but subconsciously, she knew that Tomas talked until they parked.
âYou donât even have your horse,â she said, as a last ditch effort. She knew this fact hadnât somehow escaped him, but she didnât understand what he was hoping to accomplish by being here without Rain.
âOh, Iâm buying one,â he laughed, as if that was such a minor thing to forget. âYeah, thatâs the whole reason weâre here. So, I can test out this horse. If sheâs got some crack to her, Iâm not putting a national championship on the line.â
Nesta couldnât believe him. Heâd taken their last night home together and hijacked it.
Pulling into the dirt lot, Nesta breathed a heavy sigh. Tomas hopped out of the truck and reached into the backseat, grabbing a beer out of the cooler and popping the top. She laughed incredulously. âAre you serious?â
âDonât worry, Iâve got you something, too,â he smirked, lifting the wine coolers out of the ice. She rolled her eyes. It wasnât that she was looking to drink, too. It was that, once again, sheâd been overshadowed by roping. âCome on, I gotta go warm that horse up.â
âIâll be right there,â Nesta said, pulling her phone out of her pocket and dialing her sisterâs number. âI need to ask Elain something real quick.â
âAlright, well, hurry up,â he said, smacking the roof of the truck. âI want you to get some video of me I can post.â
Grinding her teeth, she nodded, and put the phone to her ear. Tomas shut the door and Nesta lowered the phone back to her lap, never even having pressed the call button. She looked out the truck window, out over the fields, that rolled on and on, and just saw...nothingness.
Without thinking about it, Nesta hopped out of the truck, threw her purse over her shoulder and began walking towards the road.
The rustic back roads of Velaris werenât lit with street lamps, so she pulled her phone out and used it as a flashlight. After about fifteen minutes of walking, her phone died and she was left in the dark.
An older truck, heading in the direction of the arena, stopped when they saw her walking along the side of the road. An unfamiliar voice called out, âHey, are you okay?â
She didnât answer.
âMiss? Do you need a ride?â
She kept walking and ignored the truck, passing it and disappearing into the darkness.
ââââÂ
At quarter after midnight, Nesta finally walked up the worn wooden steps of the ranch house. Her phone had been dead for hours and by the time she reached the city, she knew her family would be asleep.
She wondered if Tomas had noticed her absence. She wondered if heâd tried to call her.
She unlocked the front door and crept in, trying to miss the creaking board by the living room doorway.
âThat you, Nes?â
She sighed, hoping he wouldnât come into the foyer, where she stood with one door already on the first step. âYeah, dad.â
He groaned as he sat up on the couch. âTomas with you?â
She swallowed heavily. âNo, sir.â She started to ascend the steps. She looked like shit, he couldnât see her like this, covered in dust and who knows what else. She didnât want to tell him what happened, didnât want to deal with him telling her that Tomas was the best thing to ever happen to her. âIâm tired. Iâm going to bed. Goodnight.â
She hurried up the stairs and shut her door with a soft click.
Begging herself not to cry, she slipped off her clothes and slipped into a cozy pair of sweatpants and a tank top. She should take a shower, but she didnât want to wake her sisters by turning it on. So, instead, she trudged across the hall, into the bathroom, and wiped herself off with a wet cloth.
All she had wanted was one thing: to go to a nice dinner with her boyfriend. Instead, she was left alone for the night in a place that she hated, expected to cheer Tomas on in a sport, in an environment, she couldnât care less for.Â
And Tomas didnât even seem to care or notice. At least now she would get a weekend alone, a weekend spent in the kitchen, a weekend creating dishes that people would praise her for. And it wasnât that Nesta needed the praise, but when her world revolved around Tomasâs accomplishments, it was nice to be the one appreciated for once.
When her phone finally booted up, she didnât have a single text from Tomas.
âââââ
Friday went by pretty uneventfully. She was exhausted, yes, but she was mostly distracted by the fact that Tomas hadnât responded to her text message that morning.
She had bumped into someone in the halls, between economics and chemistry, and after sheâd apologized, heâd stopped her and asked if she was alright. His hazel eyes were bright and his voice was kind. Sheâd given him a quick nod and gone on her way.
After school, she went straight to the store, gathering ingredients for delicious baked goods and savory recipes sheâd been dying to try. Just as she was getting into a good mood, excited to bake for hours on end, she got home, and that mood went straight to hell.
âWeâre going to surprise Tomas.â
She had just set her bags down on the kitchen counter when she froze, her fatherâs words making her smile fade into nothingness. âWhat?â
âIâll drive you down, go pack,â he said, waiting for her to be grateful. âTomas wanted you to go so badly, and I know you want to be there to support him. So, I worked it out, bought tickets, booked a roomâŠ.Come on, Nesta, take a little roadtrip with your dear old dad to support your boyfriend.âÂ
Nesta frowned. âI- I canât. I just bought all of this to make for the guests-.â
âI called your aunt to come stay with your sisters and take care of the guests,â Isaac replied, beaming. âCome on, Nesta. This could be life changing for him, which means it could be life changing for you. You want to be there, donât you?â
No, she thought, she absolutely did not want to be there.
She was fairly sure, if Tomas lack of communication was any indication, that he didnât want her there either.
âI canât, dad,â she said, grasping for any chance to get out of this. âIâve got a final paper due on Monday and I havenât even started it.â
âYou can work on it in the truck,â he replied, packing a cooler with the essentials - beer, of course - and patting the top of it when he flipped the lid closed. âNow, go pack. If we want to see the numbers ceremony, we have to leave before four.â He hefted the cooler up, and was out the backdoor, going to load it in the back of the truck.
Nesta sighed, knowing that her father was just as hard headed as she was. She wasnât going to win this battle.
She dialed Tomas number one more time, seeing the other three times sheâd tried to call him, unsuccessfully, and listened to it ring. When the voicemail started, she said, âHey, itâs me. We need to talk about last night and I- I need to talk to you. Can you call me, please? I love you.â
------------------------------
It was a four hour drive to Guthrie, Oklahoma. Four hours to sit on her phone and scroll through her timeline. Four hours for her dad to listen to shitty music and act like this was a fun, little trip they were taking. Four hours to flip through recipe boards and save things she wanted to try next. Four hours to call Tomas with no answer on the other line.
Nesta couldnât even lie to herself and pretend something had happened, couldnât even pretend he wasnât getting her texts or calls. He was still posting on Facebook, still sharing pictures he found funny, still going about like nothing was wrong.
And then, with a little less than an hour left in their silent drive, they blew a tire.
For the first time since they began their journey, Isaacâs smile faltered. They pulled onto the side of the road and Isaac turned off the engine. Nesta still had her bare feet up on the dash, still was scrolling through her phone when Isaac got out of the truck.
He was muttering something under his breath but Nesta didnât pay him any mind. She was too bitter that she was there to begin with.
Maybe they wouldnât have a spare and theyâd be stuck there for the entirety of the weekend. With any luck, they would have to call Elain to come and get them and take Nesta back home.
That hope faded when Isaac pulled a tire out of the back.
The tire was changed, the flat caused by a deep gash from a nail they hit along the road at some point, and they were back on their way. It cost them nearly two hours, though, and by the time they pulled into the skeezy motel her father had booked a room in, the first night of the rodeo was all but done.
Isaac kept apologizing, saying theyâd get to the arena early the next morning, that was she could find Tomas before everything began. Nesta wasnât stupid though, she knew her dadâs old roping buddies were all here, all with their sons or daughters, if there were here for breakaway or to run barrels. She was sure he was excited to tell them that the up and coming Tomas Mandray was his soon-to-be son-in-law. Or so he thought.
The last thing she heard him say before he fall asleep was, âMan, I canât wait to see his face.â
Yeah, she thought. Me either.
She didnât sleep at all that night and when morning came she was completely exhausted. On top of that looming exhaustion, she felt nauseated at the thought of Tomas seeing her. She had called him once more before sheâd âgone to sleepâ the night before but got his voicemail, once again.
As Nesta hopped into the truck with Isaac, she thought she was going to puke all over the floorboards. Her father was so excited at being back at the rodeo that he didnât even notice his firstborn's silence or discomfort.
Nesta hated him for that, hated him for not noticing, for not listening.
She hated him for forcing her to be here, for forcing her into this life, just like he had her mother.
Tomas was just like her father.
And her? She was just like her mother.
Two people who were attracted to one another but shouldnât have a future together, because that future would be shit, no matter how hard they tried.
By the time Isaac parked their truck, Nesta was paralyzed. She couldnât move, couldnât think, could hardly breathe.
Perhaps she should be the bigger person. She should go and find him, apologize, and tell him good luck. But even though thatâs what she should do, the thought had her hands shaking at her sides.
You can do this, donât be an idiot, she told herself. She should consider herself lucky. At seventeen, she had found someone who loved her.
At least, he told her he did.
Until he got pissed and stopped answering her calls.
âComing, Nesta?â Isaac asked, grin wide, tapping on her window. He was ready to go dwell in his safe haven. Nesta had to follow him. She was his excuse to be there, after all.
She nodded, and took a deep breath before opening the passenger side door and hauling herself out.
Nesta and her father gave their tickets to the man at the door and walked in. Isaac stopped and stood there, breathing it all in.
All Nesta could smell was horse shit.
âIsaac Archeron, you son of a bitch, what are you doing here?â
With that one sentence, her father was whisked away, into conversations with his old rodeo friends, seeing people he hadnât seen since before Nesta was ever even thought of. And she was on her own.
Nesta sat down in the stands. She fiddled with her phone, not wanting to scroll through Instagram for the fiftieth time that day, but having nothing better to do.
Until her phone rang.
His name flashed up on her screen. Sheâd been trying to get in touch with him for three days, yet now that he was calling her back, she couldnât make her hands work, couldnât remember how to swipe her finger across the call to answer the phone.
She answered, but her voice was hesitant as she said, âHello?â
âNes? Hey, sorry, my phone hasnât been working.â
Bullshit bullshit bullshit.
âItâs okay,â she lied. She stood, walking down the bleachers and looked towards the entrance. Her father was still where sheâd left him, telling war stories and talking about the good ole days. She could see the stables behind a tarp with the rodeo association's name on it. She asked, âAre you warming Rain up?â
âNah, heâs good to go. I got a ride in this morning. Just getting him brushed down.â
He hasnât said a single word about her leaving the other night. Had he not noticed? Was she that insignificant that he hadn't even realized she was gone?
âWell thatâs good.â She sighed. âCan we talk for a-?â
He cut her off. âHey, babe, I gotta get going. Wish me luck?â
âOh, I- Okay. Good luck,â she said. âI love you.â
âYeah, you, too,â he said, already pulling the phone from his face. âBye.â
Nesta stood still as the line went dead. With a deep sigh, she shoved her phone into her pocket. He must be getting ready to make his debut for the day, maybe she would be able to catch him, surprise him, before he went.Â
He wanted her to wish him luck.
Maybe she would, if only she could catch him in time.
She wandered around the bleachers, dodging people who looked like they lived and breathed watching underage rodeo championships.Â
She had never seen so much hype. The rodeo was somewhere she hoped to dodge as often as possible even though, obviously, she wasnât always blessed enough to do so.Â
Either way, she continued on her journey to finding Tomas, but she came up short.
Looking down at her tennis shoes, which were covered in dust and dirt, she scolded herself for not packing different shoes. Not only were her sneakers filthy but her feet hurt like shit from all the walking.Â
Another name was called to get on deck, but she didnât hear Tomasâ, so she went on her way. Maybe he was off somewhere trying to clear his head.
With that thought, she went around to the back of the bleachers, where trucks and trailers were lined up. She passed people laughing and celebrating in deep conversation, but they all ignored her, thankfully.
She turned the corner at the end of the row, though, and froze.
She had found Tomas, but he wasnât getting ready.
At least, he wasnât getting ready alone.
His lips were stuck to a girlâs neck, whose head was thrown back, her eyes closed. He was palming her breast beneath her tied up flannel shirt.Â
Nesta tried to say something, but she had once again been paralyzed, frozen in place.
ââScuse me, maâam.â An older man leading a horse stepped around her, and the horse whinnied as it passed.
The sound got Tomasâ attention.
His eyes went wide as he saw her standing there, in the doorway to the stables. He blinked a few times, and the girl didnât realize their fun was over. Her hands roved over his body and she kissed his neck. Nesta began to shake her head and walk away.
âNe- Nesta, wait!â
She turned and it took everything in her not to break into a run. She wanted to leave. She wanted to vomit. She wanted to scream.
She wanted to cry.
Her entire future, that stupid future she was dreading so much, but the only plan sheâd ever had⊠it was gone.
âBaby!â His voice was much closer than it had been and his hand closed around her wrist. âBaby! Baby, baby, baby. Hey, itâs not what it looks like.â
Her voice was small, but she said, âGet your hands off of me.â
He didnât. Instead he gripped her shoulders and said, âWhatever you thought you just saw, I promise youâre wrong.â
âItâs a little hard to misinterpret that,â Nesta snapped, snatching her wrist free. âYou ignored my calls. Made me feel like shit for the other night. And while I was feeling like shit...you were gettingâŠ.â Nestaâs words trailed off, and she laughed, loudly, humorlessly. âFuck off, Tom.âÂ
âHey,â he begged, brushing her hair back, the hair that had come undone from her ponytail. âDonât do this.â
Nesta hated herself for crying in front of him, for shaking her head, for taking a step back. âItâs over. I never want to see youâŠ.never want to see you again.â
Her voice broke, and that only made the pitiful scene worse.
Nesta Archeron walked away from Tomas Mandray, and she never wanted to look back.

(Also shoutout as always to my friend Cornybird on Ao3 for editing my stuff I owe you like five squishmallows)
Roman and Logan were always the couple that no one could have possibly guessed. Roman was wild and untamed; always aiming for the best of the best, striving to conquer the impossible and prove everyone who doubted him wrong.
There always seemed to be so little time for him. He wanted to write, sing, dance, act, create, and he refused to let trivial things get in the way of that. Even as a hopeless romantic who dreamed of marriage, it seemed like his running on pure adrenaline made it impossible for him to make friends, let alone a husband.
Logan wasnât much better. He wasnât very invested in the arts and had (arguably) more achievable goals, but he still couldnât stand to not be the top of his class. He wanted to be idolized. He wanted a kid who felt as helpless as he once did to look at him and get hope for the future. He wanted respect, and he was determined to gain it.
But that led to him overworking himself. Logan had a habit of working late into the night to put efficiency over self care, to drop everything that could get in his way and absorb himself in his own goals. Yet just like Roman, self isolation led to loneliness, and his personal expectations made him deem himself unworthy of a partner and family, no matter how untrue that was.
On the outside, they looked like people who were too busy and in their heads to enjoy the little things. Logan passed up warm showers and movie nights to get his ideas out on paper, and Roman passed up coffee shops and strolls through the park to create bigger and better things. But for the longest time, on the inside they were lonely. And only one person could see that enough to break through.
No one expected them to get to this point. The point where theyâd been happily together for four years, Loganâs engagement ring carefully placed in the same box that Roman had given it to him in on the bedside table. But it was real anyway, and Logan was fast asleep, while Romanâs brain was thinking about too many fantasy worlds for him to calm down enough to doze off. Instead, he ran his fingers through his fiancĂ©âs hair and watched him sleep peacefully on his chest.
Roman could have spent his entire life in that position. Just him and Logan, his adorable love looking peaceful and happy as Roman protected him from the world. If he wouldnât be risking waking him up, Roman would also be peppering kisses all over his face, but he took a mental note to do that in the morning instead. They were going on a date tomorrow after all, and those always ended in lots of kisses and cheesy flirts Logan would roll his eyes at. But Roman thought his faux annoyance was adorable, so he used pickup lines at least three times a week.
But that was tomorrow, and tonight was tonight. And nights were a childâs favorite time to break the peace.
Roman could hear babbling from the room across from them, as well as from the baby monitor next to the bed. Patton was already squealing âdadaâ a little bit, and Roman knew from experience that he was getting ready to cry for them. It broke his heart every time Patton cried, so he gently pushed Logan to the bed and kissed his hair. He didnât squirm, so Roman shimmied off the bed and smiled at Logan one last time as the baby talk got a little louder. He knew the drill by now, so Roman grabbed his guitar before he left and went to Pattonâs bedroom. Music was the fastest way to get the little guy back to sleep.
Roman opened the colorful door to his sonâs nursery. Only a pale blue nightlight gave light to the room, revealing a crib with a babbling baby holding onto the rails. Patton still couldnât walk, but he was getting pretty good at standing in place, so the day would come at any time now.Â
Roman gave his baby a tired smile. âHello, sunshine. What are you doing awake? Princes need their beauty sleep!â
âDada, dada, dada!â Patton babbled, jumping as much as his tiny legs could using the spring of the cribâs mattress. Roman didnât bother going to the crib and picking him up, though. He learned a long time ago that a rocking chair doesnât make Patton tired anymore; he only squeals with excitement like itâs a baby rollercoaster. Roman experimented one night and played Wonderwall on his guitar as a joke when Patton refused to calm down, but it was the fastest the little guy had ever been lulled to sleep. Since then, Roman immediately picks up his guitar and lets Patton relax to that instead.
âWhatâs the request tonight, little buddy?â Roman asked as he sat in the rocking chair and strummed some of the strings. âFrĂšre Jacques? Hey Soul Sister? Or do you want a song Dada really likes?â
âDada!â Patton squealed.
âA Dada song? Excellent choice!â Roman leaned back in the chair and thought about what he may want to play. Logically he knew Patton only said dada because it was the only word he knew, but Roman liked to pretend his baby was the smartest boy in the entire world, even if his farts still scared him and he slapped his hands on every new surface he found. If he grew up to be anything like Logan, then Roman knew that he would have a bright future. âNow...what would I maybe want to playâŠâ
Patton let go of the railing and let himself fall on his butt back to the mattress. He crawled over to his favorite stuffed frog and held onto the fur tightly, which Roman thought was objectively the cutest thing in this world. Though then again, everything Patton did was adorable. He was at the perfect age to steal the heart of everyone, and call Roman a lovestruck dad all you wanted, but his baby just blew his breath away.
âHey, little froggy, how about we bring back an old favorite? Especially since me and Papa have been watching the Hamilfilm a whole lot!â Patton giggled in response, so Roman nodded his head. âAlright then, letâs see hereâŠâ
Roman placed his fingers on the neck of the guitar and strummed the first cord, testing out the tune. When he was satisfied, Roman strummed out the beginning notes of the song, and already Patton began to seem mesmerized by it.
âDear Theodosia what to say to you? You have my eyes, you have your motherâs name. When you came into the world you cried and it broke my heartâŠâ Patton shoved one of the eyes of his stuffed frog into his mouth, listening intently. When Patton was first born, all Roman did was sing this song to him. It seemed to fit so well given their situation. Logan always went on about how Patton had Romanâs eyes, even though Roman expected Logan to mention that it was obvious Patton would have some of his traits. He was half Roman after all, and Logan was hardly one for sentimentals anyway. But then again, becoming a dad had made him a lot softer than Roman could ever imagine.
âIâm dedicating every day to you, domestic life was never quite my style, when you smileâŠâ Roman looked over at his baby. He had a little smile on his face, but Roman also guessed that was just the permanent position Pattonâs face was in. He seemed like a happy baby almost all the time, give or take a few sick days and the time Patton saw a spider for the first time. â...You knock me out, I fall apart, and I thought I was so smart.â
Roman didnât know if he was smart or not. His fiancĂ© said that intelligence is more than book smarts and street smarts, and Roman had his strengths just like he had his flaws. But insecurity was a wild thing, and though Roman put on his best facade of greatness, he was only human, and humans have a strange perspective on self worth. Though no matter how intelligent he was, Roman had long accepted that Patton could break down any tough walls he or Logan put up. After all, it had been quite the sight to see Logan sob from happiness at holding his baby for the first time.
âYou will come of age with our young nation...weâll bleed and fight for you. Weâll make it right for you. If we lay a strong enough foundation...weâll pass it onto you. Weâll give the world to you and youâll blow us all away. Someday, somedayâŠâ
Roman strummed out the notes in between lyrics for longer than he had to, but it was okay when his audience was a baby who didnât actually know the song. âReady for one more part, buddy?â Patton didnât respond (obviously), he only looked up at Roman with big eyes. âGood! I know itâs your favorite part.â
âI have to admit that it is mine as well.â
Romanâs strumming stopped in its tracks when he heard the familiar voice. He looked across the room to the door where his adorable fiancĂ© stood, his hair messy and Romanâs stolen pajama shirt making him look considerably tinier. If Roman wasnât so tired, heâd scoop Logan up and swing him around the room for being so adorable. âWhat are you doing awake, love?â
âI can hear you singing from the baby monitor thatâs a few feet away from my face.â Romanâs cheeks flushed red, but Logan didnât care. He walked over to Roman at the rocking chair and wrapped his arms around his shoulders, giving a kiss to the top of Romanâs head. âDid a certain little froggy decide to have a party past his bedtime?â
âHe woke up, yeah. Iâm trying to put him back to sleep.â
âDid you check his diaper?â
Roman blinked. â...I did not.â
Logan sighed, but he shook his head fondly at his forgetful fiancé. Roman always went to the more complicated solutions before thinking about the basics, but at least he was trying. If Patton had started to cry, Roman would have eventually realized to check those things anyway.
Logan picked up Patton from his crib and took a sniff of his diaper. He smelled clean, which was good, but putting a baby to sleep who simply didnât want to rest was harder than having something specific to fix. Logan kept Patton in his arms as Roman strummed on his guitar again with a smile.
âI still have to finish my song, Logan. Care to join the late night party with us?â
Logan smiled. âItâs Alexanderâs part, correct?â
âDonât act like you donât already know. You love this musical as much as I do.â
âFair point. How about you sing to us, then?â
âCould you do me the honor of singing alongside me?â Roman asked.
Logan felt his face heat up. â...Weâll see.â
Roman didnât push it anymore. He knew Logan didnât like his singing voice, even if it was objectively the best thing Roman could ever possibly hear. But when Logan got some time to ease into the idea, he would eventually slide into it.
Roman started strumming again, and the song picked up once more. It was just that with Logan around, the energy of the room felt all the more alive. âOh, Phillip you outshine the morning sun. My son. Look at my son!â
Patton smacked both his hands on Loganâs shoulder. Logan couldnât help but laugh.
âPride is not the word Iâm looking for. There is so much more inside me nowâŠâ
Logan began to sing, and Roman almost stopped in his tracks with awe. âOh, Phillip, you outshine the morning sun. My son.â
Patton looked up at his dad with the most adorable baby smile. At the sound of both his parents and his favorite guitar, Patton began kicking and bouncing in Loganâs arms. The song was meant to calm him down enough to sleep, but instead the little guy decided it was the perfect time of day of a dance party. The worst part was that neither Roman or Logan had the heart to argue with him.
Instead, they both began to sing together as Patton bounced and smacked his hands. âWhen you smile, I fall apart. And I thought I was so smart.â
The music changed a little bit, and Roman and Logan both knew what came next. It was a part that hit them both close to home, but theyâd practiced that section way too many times to not be prepared. Roman took the part of Alexander first. âMy father wasnât aroundâŠâ
Logan held a dancing Patton tighter. âMy father wasnât around.â
âI swear that Iâll be around for you. Iâll do whatever it takesâŠâ
âIâll make a million mistakesâŠâ
Roman stood up from the rocking chair and strummed louder as he stood beside Logan. Both him and their son smiled as the two came back together for the song. âIâll make the world safe and sound for you...will come of age with our young nation.â
Roman laid his head on Loganâs shoulder and Patton was merciful enough to stop slapping and put all his energy into bouncing up and down instead of smacking Roman in the face. âWeâll bleed and fight for you, weâll make it right for you. If we lay a strong enough foundation...weâll pass it onto you. Weâll give the world to you, and youâll blow us all away. Someday, someday...yeah, youâll blow us all away. Someday, somedayâŠâ
The two parents held the last note as Roman strummed out the ending of the song. When Roman finished with that final strum, Patton still danced until the note had become too quiet to hear. Once he stopped his bouncing, Roman set his guitar down on the floor long enough to grab Pattonâs hands and make him clap. âYay, bravo, bravo! A wonderful musician and his beautiful dancer!â
Patton squealed nonsense in response as Logan moved to steal Romanâs place at the rocking chair, being careful not to rock it in case it only riled Patton up even more. âI donât think heâs been calmed down by your song, Roman.â
âWellâŠâ Roman grabbed his guitar again and sat on the floor in front of the rocking chair. âThat just means we have to let him dance out the energy, right? Then tomorrow, weâre absolutely recording him dancing to this. I would do it now if I wasnât tired.â
Logan chuckled. âI will try to remind you.â
âBut until thenâŠâ Roman placed his fingers back on the strings and strummed the first note. âCare for another round, my love?â
The smile Logan gave off mixed with the happiness of their baby was an image Roman swore to cherish forever. âOf course, my prince.â
When Roman began to strum, their precious baby boy started to dance once more.
