in honour of the transfer mention in canon (which I will be choosing to believe is still Buck's plan until s9 starts and ruins all my fun once again), let's have a slice of my 'buck leaves the 118 fic', shall we? we are finally at his first day.

.“Heard you prefer to go by ‘Buck’, right?” Captain Deluca asks. Buck nods.

“Yeah,” he says. “There were, uh, three Evans in my class at the academy, so uh, ‘Buck’ kinda stuck, I guess.”

“And when did you get out of the academy? Last week?” One guy across the loft asks, a tone in his voice that immediately reminds Buck of Eddie. He bristles, but Deluca beats him to the punch.

“Roy!” he barks. “Don’t get bitter now just ‘cause we got someone prettier on the team.”

Laughs rise up from the rest of the team. The guy – Roy – raises his hands in surrender.

“Alright,” Deluca says, clapping Buck on the shoulder with a heavy hand. “Go put your stuff away, then come back and meet your squad.”

“Yes sir,” Buck says.

“And don’t call me ‘sir’, jeez, I ain’t that old,” Deluca groans, but he’s smiling. Buck grins, quick and nervous, and nods. Deluca gives him a bit of a shove, and Buck heads down to the locker room.

One of the lockers is decorated with streamers, and a handwritten sign that declares ‘For the new guy!’ in a curlicue font. Buck smiles, but he still stands cautiously back as he opens it up. Thankfully, nothing pops out at him. He peeks inside to find it empty, and sighs in relief. He’d already put his uniform on at home before coming in, so he shoves his bag into the locker, and takes a minute to breathe.

This is good, he tells himself. This is a good thing.

He closes the locker, smiling again at the streamers. When he turns around, Roy is in the doorway. Buck’s guard goes up immediately. Roy sighs, and steps forward, extending a hand.

“Sorry, man,” he says. He sounds genuine. “We don’t know each other well enough to joke like that yet. I’m Roy.”

“Thanks,” Buck says. He takes the hand extended and shakes it. “Buck. Are you, uh, on the same shift?”

“Yeah,” Roy says. “Cap actually picked you as my partner. Sorry I made a bad first impression.”

“No, it’s uh, it’s okay,” Buck says. Their hands drop. “I should tell you about how I acted when I met my new partner, at my old house. I was a bit of a dick.”

“You?” Roy snorts. “Can’t picture it, Buck. Anyway, come on up, say hi to the rest of the guys. I promise, we’re not all assholes. Just Cap, sometimes.”

i was going to post a full statement and explanation, but nobody cares and it will honestly just stir shit right back up unintentionally. i’m not a celebrity hahah. what has been going on in the community and what i’ve personally gone through on here, this isn’t the place for me anymore ❤️ especially the shit that went down a few weeks ago, i just look at blogs/this app so differently now. i’m so so sad i have found to be pushed out and not apart of this community anymore, but once i get something else started, ill make it known its still me if yall remember 🫶🏽

i feel like i’ve put so much of myself into helping others on here and making others feels comfortable but i just continue to get shit on over and over, blocked and unblocked, talked about and then irrelevant, like yeah it’s too much. i feel like i left a positive impact in this community and i know some of you disagree. but to me, i always had a safe space for you all and i will miss it. i really hope you guys see me as a positive person that was with you all. the haters won this one hahaha i love you guys so much.

i also want to make it very clear that i still and always will support luigi. just not all that comes with the “fandom”

okay, firstly, beautiful! this is lovely, please do not delete later. you are a wonderful writer, actually. despite what your mind might be saying.

secondly, i am totally in agreement with you. i have always connected with Nigel, and later when i read TSH, Henry. similar but different in some ways. i won't express that all here but they both have always come through to me as fog. maybe it's because i write my best for them on foggy, rainy, story, days and slide right into their perspective. i'm not sure. but i will say, they are always, in my mind, connected with something that is hypnotic, stealthy in some way, creeping in on us, yet very calm and all encompassing, vast, something that lulls you before you realize the prickling fear of what that thing also is, also could be and bring with it. the neutrality of possibility before your anxiety has time to catch up and think of all that could go wrong in that thick expansive nothing.

fog is wonderful as a symbol for Nigel since it only blinds us, for a time, and it does so simply by existing, as it is. it's rather ambiguous in that sense. what comes through it could be any shade of horror or of beauty and wonder. i guess, i also very much so enjoy having something that symbolizes the play with the locus of control element the film and TSH plays with. this... realizing how little control we really have, at times, in life. this surrendering to the lulling energy they have as much as the thrilling sort of fear they ignite within us when we're inevitably thrown for the loop we worried was coming. but it's like, in that moment of the other shoe dropping, that we've been holding our breath for, we realize maybe we'd been living that way even before them. maybe we have been startled awake, and it's nasty, and scary beyond anything we had thought up, but it's also... it's being alive to the fullest extent. and so, in some odd way we become grateful to this energy so unique to them for awakening our senses.

and, when all is said and done, they leave little bits of themselves everywhere that won't disappear but be soaked up into the very earth of us. feeding this new version of ourselves we have built together with them, nourishing this self you created with them, unbeknownst to even ourselves until that merging is done. i also enjoy how the droplets left behind are almost like their soul's cry for everything they could never find the words to say. their peace gained, in some way, but only ever through some chaotic tearing asunder of their very beings to release and free themselves. i see them as so expansive because this form, this flesh, this realm of existence can't contain them. they know this, and it's like a play you know will end badly but you can't turn away from. you know they weren't meant for this plan of existence, and it will end in blood, but you're compelled to watch on in hopes of learning a shred of what to do for your own similar feelings. only, of course, to be met with the horror of truth you thought you were ready for but spiral about after, alone. and in that, again, the fog has stuck us.

(this is why i have stopped logging on in the morning during my coffee and listening to my classical music that i listen to when i write lol. yall remember when i wrote posts like this on a regular basis? god! anyway, thank you for this post because it makes me feel seen and less alone in seeing him how i do. also, clearly helped me flow about writing which is always helpful when it randomly strikes so, i appreciate that.)

in conclusion:

Whenever I think of Nigel I think of thick fog. More specifically, I live by a bay that has shipping train tracks along it. Sometimes early in the morning I walk by it and it’s fogging, It’s hard to see, but you have that feeling deep in your chest that is indescribable, yet familiar. And the smell is moist, rusty, and salty. Your lungs are filled up with this fog seeping into your body.

This is what I see Nigel as, a feeling. You cannot see far ahead of you, your mind is not open, but you feel. The cold wet air. The impending fear is just settled in your chest, you know it is safe but you cannot see behind you, you never feel alone in the fog. Like someone watching you, like you’re watching yourself from far away. There is something creeping up your neck. The path is overgrown with weeds because the city does not care to tidy it up. No one goes there unless they need to be someplace else.

My interpretation of Nigel Colbie can never be completely described in words. With all of the uncertainties of the story told, we don’t know what truly happened, so why do I have the privilege to force a narrative? I am no good with pretty words and communicating how I see people and feelings. That is why I like to personalize things and give characters that I cannot describe or understand, feelings. I know feelings and with that I can place metaphors to express them.

When the fog disappears because the sun has warmed the air, it leaves droplets of water on the grass and leaves.

Nigel Colbie, my beloved, how I wish I could see into your mind and merge into your body to see how you feel.

Anyhow I am so grateful of the attention that I got this year, having one of my posts not only get over 100 notes but currently over 3 THOUSAND just blows my mind and I’m lowkey tearing up bc of all the love for my art in these few months

I’ve gone through a lot this year, maturing as a person and trying to find happiness in life and I feel I found my happiness here posting online and exploring my passions, even if I get burnt out at times -w-

Regarding requests I’m gonna be working on them gradually as I have smth planned for tomorrow after new year’s celebrations and the likes so stay tuned for ur request drawings in the next week (also I’m extremely sorry for taking so long I got super burnt out after drawing for 40 days straight and now I can maybe get out once piece every few days at most, BUT I still want the arts I do for others to be at the same quality of my others so I’m taking special care for them, thus why they’ll take longer)

Anyhow I’m probably gonna ugly cry once the ball drops (of joy dwww :p) I hope all of you have a spectacular 2024 and cheers to another year of passion through art!!!

Tbh, if I had answered this months ago, the answer might have been 'no' (which is why this has been sitting in my inbox for so long- I didn't want to give that answer). I had been frustrated in myself and my inability to Emotion Properly™️and had at some point decided I was just going to mask forever and so because of that I didn't want to write anymore explicit autistic characters. As one can guess, it wasn't the greatest idea.

And, as I have just very recently learned, I still pretty somewhat kind of definitely appear autistic to those who know me even when I was trying to suppress stims and stuff because. lo and behold, it's not like I can suppress my difficulty with words and emotions and sounds lmao. ANYWAY.
