Might be a hot take as a bkdk and tgck truther here, but I find izuocha endlessly fascinating, beautiful, but also tearfully tragic.

I see their love for each other as something representative of their innocence and naivety when they only knew so little about who they were, and what was to come.

I think the main barrier of their relationship is that its rooted in how they see each other very idealistically, specifically that they're attached to the image of their Best Heroic Selves, and not the deeply selfish, destructive, freaky, and egotistical parts of them. To each other, they need to keep fulfilling that image or else that same person they looked up to would almost die in front of them, and that would be too cruel. Although that hero is still there, that same person they looked up to is not the same now because of...well...everything.

Izuku had barely even talked to girls when he first met her. She was Izuku's first ever real friend (Sorry Kats, everyone and him knows he was terrible), so he saved her in that entrance exam even if it was so dangerous. She gave a new meaning to his derogatory nickname just by being a friend that believed in him. After that, she saved him several more times (Blackwhip and Megaphone are the biggest samples iirc). It makes perfect sense that she is Deku's hero.

Ochako hardly knew what it meant to be a hero when she first got into UA. Just by reaching out to some kid tripping, she made a new friend who would then save her in that exam, then save him again in return. This boy then became someone who was always working so hard to save everyone in trouble, and she realized she wanted to be just like him too. "I want to save people"

But...Deku changes. The weight of One for All is on his shoulders and he needs someone to carry this burden with him. He continues to want to save other people at the expense of himself, still not letting his true selfishness and ego ever show- and it only grows more and more unbearable.

Then...Ochako fell in love with Himiko. Truly, relentlessly, selfishly and devotedly in love with a girl who then dies giving her blood to her- the greatest expression of love Himiko could ever give.

Not that they can't love each other because of this happening (and...so many other things oh god), I'm honestly not sure how to explain it- But them ending up together after losing that innocence and naivety? After Ochako will forever grieve the girl who showed her love in its most beautiful and ugly form? After Izuku changed so fundamentally as a person that the butterflies of a nice girl talking to you doesn't exist anymore? After that simple image of being a hero and being in love has completely changed for them both?

Even so, I believe they still love each other. There is no label I know of that can properly describe them though. They are each other's image of being a hero when it comes to saving people. Aside from Shoto, no one else can grasp the grief of the person you tried to save dying in your hands. They would no doubt try to cope with these losses together, and just try to get better together...but so much has changed. They've changed. The world changed. What are they now? Who are they now?

Patalliro! is fascinating to me because of stuff like this. It's unapologetically gay - even within its anime which aired during primetime hours in 1982 - in a way that many later BL manga would never be, like the ones from the early 2000s which would never dare to call their characters actual homosexuals. Patalliro has actually aged quite well in this regard, there's something comforting about how campy it is.

Do you know how specific scent training is? Like if you train a dog to find mallards they can find other ducks, but they're not going to indicate at sparrows for instance. So how specific is it?

Hi! So short answer - depends on the dog and how well they contextualize.

If you have a dog predisposed to finding birds, they're probably going to find all birds and then generally learn which ones you (the human) care about. So say for example your dog shows you a crow, a sparrow, a mallard, a teal, and a finch. You reward the mallard and the teal, and you ignore the others. Eventually your dog will release that you only care about some birds and their indication on crows and sparrows amd finches will fade.

If, on the other hand, you have to teach a dog to indicate birds from scratch, you might have to contextualize more. So you'd teach your dog that you reward when they look at ducks in a pond, and then they'd seek out ducks in a pond (hopefully). Then you'd have to teach that you reward when they find ducks in a field. Then ducks on a path in the woods. Then you might have to teach them that you don't care about herons in the pond. And so on and on, depending how quickly they understand what you're rewarding.

It really depends on what connection your dog makes in their puppy brain, and there isn't a good way to control that. But it's a fun thing to try anyway, especially if it's something you and your dog find enriching!

(i am very aware that the satsujinki only ever forms in the very rare instance that the trio are about to lose and their souls are already exposed. and theres also almost zero information on the satsujinki like ever. so i'm just ditching everything and going with the idea that the mtt can fuse together and have a fusion. because that's sillier :3))

if you have a fusion together is that the ultimate form of a relationship. mttpoly is so real they became one person. isn't that kinda intimate. being the same existence,,,, they all started out as sans (the same guy) and now they're fused together as the satsujinki (them all as the same guy). this is a strange concept that i think is hilariously funny and needs elaborating on

Someone please sit and listen to my insane ramblings about Joseph and Mary and their friendship they are everything to me their connection their parallels their shared past their friendship. A friendship born out of camaraderie. One day that ruined everything for us both. I died and you lived. We knew each other as strangers when we were alive and in our era and now in this isolated mansion we meet again as fellow hunters. What do you think was Joseph's first thought on seeing the former queen, once arrogant and proud, now a ghost in cheap red gown, paling skin and eyes that have witnessed horrors incomprehensible to the living. Would he pity her? Feel guilty? Not indifference. For how can you be indifferent towards someone who suffered the same tragedy as you but a hundred times worse. And what do you think Mary sees when she sees him? Does she remember him? The little boy and his twin brother who'd attend the king's court with their father. Or would Joseph prefer not to remind her. To kindle their friendship on current fellowship rather than a past forgotten familiarity.

He sees that throughout all the years of suffering she remains as temperamental and elegant as she was when she was a queen. Death and rot wouldn't shun her brilliance. A woman truly befitting of the noble lineage. Joseph would never admit that he secretly admires her resilience and courage, but what he would admit is that she is too haughty and hot-headed and sometimes a little too irritating with her teasing. Mary huffs and admonishes him for being rude to someone so much older than him for which Joseph has to remind her that technically he has lived more years than her.

Mary sees Joseph and wonders about the tragedy that befell this young man. Young. Because no matter how old he grows he will always be that young boy to her. She wonders about all those who fled the chaos and killings and their life afterwards. Did they live out a life of peace and calm and die satisfied? Or did they live a life of devoid of something or someone lost in the revolution. Like Joseph. Did they too spend the rest of their life chasing after long gone ghosts, a life of mental agony and restless hard work to make the impossible possible. Rejecting death and becoming something of a ghost themselves. Much like this young man well past his decades but still parading around with a youthful appearance. Everything against nature itself. But Mary cannot find it within herself to fault him. Separation can be such a cruel thing.

But then again, bygones will be bygones. The pain and tragedies will not fade but at least we can sit here together and talk about what glorious times we had in our past. Of what disappointments it were that we couldn't do what we wished to. It's a shame that we lost it all and are now trapped here. Two ghosts stuck in time. One alive and one dead. But it's okay. Let us clink our glasses of wine and laugh together while we reminisce about a past only you and I can remember. This will be foundation of our friendship and I will cherish it forever.
