warnings: fluff, reader & shuri have a daughter

a/n: i’ve been obsessed with empire & producer!shuri like…it’s unhealthy atp. this is rlly short but, i just wanted to put something out while im busy.

it was in the middle of the night, you and shuri were working on a song in the studio room after just putting your daughter, amani, to bed. shuri had offered to help you with your new album, and who were to reject? your girlfriend saved your ass multiples times, you knew she’d do good on this.

as she was working on the beat, you were finishing up your lyrics when—

“MOMMY, MAMA!!” you heard your daughter from upstairs. you and shuri shared a look before dropping your work and heading to her bedroom.

“coming, baby!” you yelled as you both walked up the stairs. once you reached her door you flicked on her lights and there she sat, teddy bear in a tight grip, hair fresh out of her bonnet from tossing and turning, and tear streaks down her plump cheeks.

“what happened, tiny?” shuri asked as you both sat beside amani and she wiped the tears away with her thumb.

“i had a nightmare..”

“oh, mama,” you cooed, securing her bonnet back on her head then bringing her in a hug, rubbing her arm. “what was it about?”

“a big scary monster! and it was living under my bed!”

“any monster should know not to mess with amani udaku!” shuri commented, “they must not know how strong you are?” she pressed into amani’s side, erupting giggles from the 5 year old.

“if that monster messes with you, you know what you need to do?” you questioned, the young girl pondered for a minute before smiling.

“sing and it will go away!” she beams.

“that’s right, encinci, becauseee?”

“monsters don’t like music!”

“and don’t worry, we’ll help you.” you caressed her cheek and gave those pleading eyes as she asked you, “could we sing my favorite song?”

“anything you want, babygirl.” you smiled, and picked up a tv remote.

you and shuri started to snap your fingers in a melodic rhythm.

sometimes you feel insecure, trust me babe, i understand

even with no manicure, just know that i’ll still hold your hand

you and shuri made sure that you both would public radio-fy the song, just to make it more appropriate for her, and she still loved it.

you watched as your daughter started to visibly relax, as she mimicked your hand movements, going up into the air then falling down at her lap.

amani did always enjoy seeing you both perform, but you could tell she had a strong love for seeing her mama rap on stage. she would beg you to let her watch her whenever she would be on live tv. you would always have to tell shuri before she went on to use the censored version, to spare the children, specifically hers, she was always happy to oblige.

dang, you’re so perfect, underneath the surface and you got a (smile like the sunshine)

you both hopped up from the bed, and as shuri began to tuck amani back in her covers, she lowered and slowed her voice.

amani yawned as her head hit the pillow, snuggling up as sleep overtook her.

"Stop it, Bucky," you warned, pulling the tiny form of Ethan away from your husband's arms.

"Hey," Bucky snickered, swatting your arm away from the kid playfully.

"NO. NO," Ethan yelled, clinging tightly to your knee, making everyone around you laugh.

"Oh, now you're just being mean, boy. Leave her alone. She's mine," Bucky said, clearly enjoying himself far too much.

"MAMAAAA!" Ethan shouted, his voice surprisingly loud for a three-year-old.

"It's okay, baby. Uncle Bucky is only joking," Pepper cooed from the other end of the living room, gently fixing Morgan's hair.

Ethan was on the verge of wailing, so you turned, picked him up, and sat him on your other side. Tony approached, leaning down to meet his son's eyes.

"You've got no chill, Bucky," you muttered over your shoulder.

"Tell you what," Tony began, drawing Ethan's attention. "We can always get Beebee to fight Uncle Bucky and keep her with us," he said. Ethan instantly brightened and looked to you for confirmation.

"Let's not tell him, yeah?" Tony replied, winking at Ethan as he lifted him into his arms. "Keep watching over your shoulder, buddy," Tony added, walking away.

"Buddy, Beebee's comin'," Ethan echoed over Tony's shoulder in his adorable little voice.

You turned to Bucky, giggling at his half-exasperated, half-stunned expression.

"Seriously? I can't have you roaming outside our home with a STARK-LEVEL PROBLEM," Bucky groaned, emphasizing the last part as he shouted after Tony and Ethan.

Leaning in, Bucky pecked your lips and whispered, "What the fuck is Beebee?"

"It's the giant bot Tony's been working on," you replied.

Bucky rolled his eyes, scoffing at the idea of a massive robot chasing him off just so Tony's son could kidnap you.

The pit lane was humming with activity as mechanics and team members alike continued with their duties after a productive qualifying session. You glanced around looking for your friends, alex and rebecca, who had convinced you to take this walk in the first place, but you couldn’t find them in the sea of red bull employees. Letting out a sigh you pulled out your phone hoping to see some sort of reply from either them but there was nothing.

"y/n?" a familiar voice questioned, startling you out of your thoughts. you were met with a confused looking max verstappen and you felt your cheeks heat. max was still in his white fireproofs with his suit pulled down around his waist and you'd be lying if you said he didn't look incredible. you may have accidentally admitted to alex that max was your crush on the grid and you had a sneaking suspicion thats why both her and rebecca magically disappeared leaving you here.

"yes! hi max!!" you said quickly, holding out your hand for him to shake. "it's a genuine honor to meet you!" max looked down at your outstretched hand and paused for a moment before taking it in his own.

his hand engulfed yours as a grin stretched across his face, "the honor is mine, y/n - i'm actually a pretty big fan of yours."

"you are?"

max chuckled, "yes? is that hard to believe?"

"no, no .. i just didn't think you'd know who i was! i mean - im just surprised is all," you said quickly, realizing you were stumbling over your words but max didn't seem to be phased.

"don't be surprised, you are quite talented," max took a sip from his red bull can and you watched as his eyes danced around the pit lane. "do you want an escort back to ferrari?"

"yes, please."

"great, come with me," max rested his hand on the small of your back as he ushered you through the red bull garage and back to the paddock. he made idle chit chat as you tried your very best to focus on anything other than the electricity you could feel from where his hand met the fabric of your dress.

"ahh there you are mon amor!" alex cooed as you and max approached the ferrari hospitality. rebecca looked between you and max with a knowing look on her face. you made a mental note to talk to them both later about how they couldn't just leave you places unattended even if it meant meeting max.

"well would you look at this," charles patted max on the back as he walked past taking his place next to alex. he had a devilish smirk plastered across his handsome features as his eyes travelled between the two of you.

"max was kind enough to help me navigate my way back here after alex and rebecca so sweetly ditched me in the pit lane."

"oh was he now? well then we must repay my dear friend! how about you come to the club with us after the race tomorrow max?" charles looked expectantly at his friend.

max let out a sigh, "i suppose i could be persuaded."

"thats the spirit!" charles clapped his hands together, "i'll text you the details mon ami."

a night club? in miami? with max verstappen? this ought to be interesting.

max could feel the music pounding through his chest as his fellow club goers danced to the beat. feeling all sorts of nerves, he brought his gin and tonic to his lips and took a few big gulps hoping the liquid courage would hit him soon. his eyes couldn’t help but follow you as you swayed your entire body to the music without a care in the world. readjusting the hat on his head, he watched as your skirt inched lower on your hips and he could almost feel his mouth start to water.

“max just go and talk to her!” charles yelled over the music pulling max out of his thoughts.

“i can’t.”

“quoi? what do you mean you can’t?”

“she’s just… i just… i can’t!” max finished off his drink and set it down on the table in front of him. “i mean look at her,” max explains throwing his arms up in exasperation, “she’s so beautiful!! i’m not sure i’d even know what to say.”

“just ask her to dance or to get another drink!” charles looked over to you, alex and rebecca as you danced with carlos and lando.

“i can’t.”

“max - if you don’t i guarantee someone else is going to try and make a move on her.” charles was now staring max down with a scowl on his face, “and i know that would upset you more than just growing some balls and talking to her!”

max frowned, realizing his friend was right. “i’m just scared she won’t like me.”

“i have insider knowledge that says she fancies you.”

max’s eyes widened, “and you didn’t lead with that?”

“no because i wasn’t supposed to tell you!! now please for the love of god let’s go get her.”

max and charles navigated their way through the sea of bodies until they made it to your little group. you looked up at max with a bright smile and he felt the butterflies in his stomach intensify. before he lost all of his nerve, he blurted out “get a drink with me?”

you nodded, “i’d love to!” max smiled and grabbed your hand so that he wouldn’t lose you in the mass of people.

there was very little available space at the bar which left you leaning against the counter and max directly behind you leaning against you so that he could hear the bartender. not a single coherent thought was going through your head, all you could focus on was the way max’s body rested against yours, the warmth it offered you, the way he was resting his strong hands on either side of you and how if you turned you’d be face to face and able to kiss him right on—

max tapped on your shoulder pulling you out of your thoughts and earning a slight jump from you. “the bartender asked what you wanted to drink, y/n” max explained into your ear causing goosebumps to spread like wild fire across your skin.

the bartender was looking at you expectantly, “oh! i’ll take a gin and tonic please!!” you panic ordered not being able to come up with anything else on the spot. “so sorry,” you quickly added as the bartender turned to make your drink. mentally you scolded yourself for not being able to get it together but boy was keeping it together hard when the max verstappen was very much taking up your personal space.

after thanking the bartender for your drinks, max took a step back allowing you to turn and look at him. he was in a pair of his classic skinny jeans, a backwards black cap, a black tshirt that hugged his arms perfectly and he wore a soft smile as he looked down at you with his big blue eyes. “wanna dance?” you asked before taking a gulp of your drink.

max’s grin grew, “absolutely.” you decided not to give him any time to reconsider and instead grabbed his hand and drug him out to the dance floor. you could feel eyes on you both but you didn’t care. “i should likely preface this with the fact that i’m not much of a dancer,” max admitted sheepishly. he was taking note of how close you both were now. you had stopped rather abruptly in the middle of the dance floor leaving him so close to you that he could steal your breath if he really wanted and oh boy did he want to.

you laughed effortlessly, “everyone is a dancer if they try hard enough, max!" The DJ began playing a remix of one of your favorite songs and max watched intently as you began moving to the music. He threw back the remainder of his drink and made quick work of discarding it, feeling more courageous now.

you quickly noticed max was still very much standing completely still. “it’s all in the hips,” you cooed putting your free hand on his hips and pushing him so he would move. max obliged and began swinging his hips back and forth timidly, not having a ton of room to move out at the center of the dance floor. "atta boy!" you praised giving him a smirk.

max almost choked on air at that comment from you — what could he say? he was a sucker for praise and that comment gave him the confidence he needed to place both hands on your hips and pull you in so that your body fit snuggly against his own. max had a feeling that this was going to be a very good night.

Kang Dae-Ho

Kang Dae-ho spent months preparing for fatherhood. Late-night diaper runs, endless bedtime stories (even when the baby didn’t understand), and early morning singalongs were his new normal.

He loved carrying your baby everywhere — perched on his hip, showing them off to his friends and family. He’d constantly whisper things like, “You’re gonna be so strong and brave like your mom, huh?” or, “Can you say ‘appa’? Come on, say it for me, little one!”

Every time he tried to get the baby to say “appa,” they’d just giggle or babble something unintelligible. He’d laugh it off but secretly felt a tiny pang of disappointment.

It’s late one evening. He’s sitting on the living room floor with your baby balanced on his lap, playing with a colorful toy. You’re nearby, watching the two of them with a fond smile.

Your baby reaches for the toy in Dae-ho’s hands, making their usual happy sounds, but this time, they look straight at him and babble, “Appa!”

He freezes. Completely. His mouth drops open, and he looks at you like, “Did you hear that?”

“Say that again,” he whispers softly, his voice almost trembling. “Can you say ‘appa’ one more time?”

Your baby giggles again and repeats it, more clearly this time: “Appa!”

Dae-ho’s eyes fill with tears instantly. He pulls the baby close to his chest, kissing their tiny head over and over. “You said it… You really said it,” he murmurs.

For the rest of the evening, he’s a blubbering mess, pacing the room and talking about how he’ll never forget this moment.

He tells everyone about it. His sisters get spammed with texts: “They called me appa today. Can you believe it? ME!”

He becomes even more attached to your baby after this. If that’s even possible, since he was already a doting father.

Every time the baby says “appa” now, his face lights up like the sun. He always responds with a big smile, “Yes, I’m your appa!”

Nam Gyu

He’s cautious and quiet in the early stages of fatherhood, unsure how to navigate the chaos of diapers, crying, and sleepless nights. But over time, he starts finding his rhythm.

He’s not the type to baby-talk or coo, but he’s always there — rocking the baby to sleep, cooking meals so you can rest, and pacing the room at 3 AM when the baby won’t stop crying.

He never actively pushes for the baby to call him “appa,” though. It’s something he assumes will happen eventually, but he doesn’t dwell on it.

It’s a quiet afternoon, and you’re all sitting on the floor together. The baby’s crawling toward Nam Gyu, giggling as he holds out his arms to them.

When they reach him, they look up at his face and blurt out, “Appa!”

He freezes, his expression unreadable for a moment. Then he breaks into a soft, almost shy smile. “Did you just…?”

The baby says it again, and Nam Gyu lets out a soft laugh, pulling them into his arms. “Appa,” he repeats quietly, like he’s testing the word out for himself.

He doesn’t make a big show of it, but you catch him smiling to himself for the rest of the day.

That night, when he thinks you’re asleep, you hear him whisper to the baby, “I’ll do my best to be a good appa for you. I promise.”

He’s a little more confident in his role as a father after this moment, more willing to let himself be vulnerable and affectionate around the baby.

Thanos (Su-bong)

Thanos is awkward but deeply devoted as a dad. He doesn’t always know what he’s doing, but he throws himself into it wholeheartedly.

He spends hours talking to the baby, telling them stories about his life and making ridiculous faces to get them to laugh.

He jokingly refers to himself as “the best appa in the world” but secretly wonders if he’s doing enough.

One evening, he’s holding the baby while pacing the room, trying to calm them down after a fussy day.

He’s muttering under his breath, “Come on, little one. You’ve got to give your old man a break here.”

Suddenly, the baby looks up at him with wide eyes and says, “Appa.”

He stops dead in his tracks, staring at the baby like they’ve just revealed the secrets of the universe. “What did you just say?”

The baby says it again, and Thanos lets out a deep, joyful laugh, tears brimming in his eyes. “That’s right,” he says, his voice thick with emotion. “I’m your appa.”

He spends the next hour walking around the house, holding the baby close and repeating, “You said it! You called me appa!”

He’s insufferably proud after this, bragging to anyone who will listen. “My kid’s a genius,” he tells his friends. “First word? Appa. That’s my kid, alright.”

But in private, he’s deeply moved. You catch him staring at the baby sometimes, his expression soft and vulnerable.

He becomes even more protective and loving, constantly reminding you both how much you mean to him.
