Prefacing by saying I have been a hardcore Hazbin fan since mid 2019, pre-pilot release. I am not an embittered anti.
Hazbin's pacing doesn't make me angry, it makes me sad. I think about this show setting up like a normal cartoon, letting us get to know the characters, letting us see them day-to-day and strengthening their relationships with each other and how they cope in different silly or serious situations, and I get... just, upset. This isn't a cartoon, this is a webcomic, and it's a webcomic based off some lady's twitter where she gave us a character sheet for everyone before we clicked on so the comic wouldn't have to waste time explaining it. I'm sad.
Who is this Camille lady and what do I care if she killed an angel? Her daughters? Who? I don't know either of their names and I don't care enough about her or them to check. I just met her today! If she dies, if her daughters die, what difference does it make to me? A random decent character design is gone? Ok??
What do I care if Vaggie has self esteem issues? I don't know her, I just met her! I'd care so much more about her song if I cared about her! I'm just expected to care because, hey, Hazbin had a huge fandom pre-release, so why wouldn't I care? She's had so much fanon and speculation, that practically did all the set up for me, right?
,,,nO. I still need you to do the work! I want to know who these people are before I see all their trauma laid bare, because otherwise all they are to me IS their trauma, and it's tough to get invested in that in a world this bleak with a cast this huge.
Helluva Boss did the same thing - Octavia is introduced in episode 2, and then in that same episode we get some big emotional dramatic moment with her and her father that feels like it should have capped an entire character arc. And yeah, I like Octavia, I like her design and her voice and her relationship to her family, but I sure didn't care when she cried about a conflict I only learned 2 minutes ago I was meant to be taking seriously. She gets another big arc for her issues in s2e2, and I cared a LOT MORE, because not only have I actually met her before that episode, I had the entire episode to develop on her specifically and lead up to the emotional climax! It didn't just play happy dappy with her all day and then make her break down, it was a clear progression. Same with Fizz - I enjoyed his recent episode with Blitzo, because I have had several episodes to build up both their individual characters and their relationship to each other and past tension. If that had been their first episode together, I would have again, not cared one bit.
Man.

Charlie and Roo Are the Same Person (and why i hate the Roo Mother Theory)
I am not a big fan of Roo being Charlie's real mom theory because many things don't work: first of all, many people said the theory is right because the two has similar design detail like the hand, eyes... In the Hellaverse there are characters with details in common that aren't related but ok (Rosie with Exorcist Angels, Carmilla and Velvette...Cherri Bomb and Vaggie...)
Now, if Roo was Corrupted Eve why Lucifer should make out with a individual who hates him for make her corrupted and out of control, with the Heaven banishing him? There were happening a lot of events in that moment of the story that make impossible to make a deal with Roo to have a child. Why Roo should make a child with Lucifer? The reason of that?
Then, there are no clues about Lucifer caring for Roo/Eve because he cares clearly only about his wife Lilith and that joke he made was just for piss off Adam (he's the Devil after all, he tricks humans)
Another "proof" that Lilith isn't Charlie's biological mom is "In the original story Lilith can't have kids" but Hazbin Hotel changed many characters from their original counterparts (like Adam, Lucifer, Andrealphus, Vassago, Beelzebub ect...) so why not also Lilith? So she can have kids.
Debunked the Charlie = Roo's Daughter i believe in a more possible theory: Roo is Charlie herself.
A thing that i noticed about Charlie is that she is like containing herself: in many scenes she's starting to grow horns because she is losing her patience but then she returns quiet. In Ep. 5 she is on a mental breakdown for a second and change in her demon form. So her form in episode 8 isn't even her full demon form, she's not at her full potential, just balancing her kind side with her aggressive one. So Roo is a Corrupted form of Charlie who, while she's trying to make herself respected, master of the situation lose her sanity and becomes a freaking beast out of control. That explain also the chains symbolism in Roo design: finally she is at her full power and break the boundaries who made her weak, they can also mean Charlie's will to tame her dark side and momentarily loses control of it . It would be an interesting plot point for her starting naive, then try to balancing her menacing part of herself, being out of control of it and trying to dominate it once and for all, learning that you can deal with your negative side and not deleted it forever rather than the boring and senseless "You are the son of the villain!" moment.
I dislike the Roo Mother theory because it doesn't bring anything to the plot and in Charlie's evolution arc: she is the daughter of Roo so? What brings in the show? Nothing.
Also Charlie is getting hate for being a not interesting protagonist so make her Roo (the villain of the whole story) would improve her reputation and make her more complex, also because the Charlie's plot is being more mature, not always diplomacy resolve problems and fighting doesn't mean regardless bad. That explains their similar traits too. Another thing that i noticed is that Charlie's big hand is right, same for Roo, she has a right huge hand. (I doubt this Roo artwork is canon but maybe it is)
Another similarity to Roo and Charlie is the color palette and the fire (Roo's hair move like flames, Charlie has the power of fire).
"But Vivziepop respond to the question "Are Lucifer and Lilith Charlie's real parents?" that she can't answer that so Roo is her mother confirmed."
It doesn't mean anything.
That Vivziepop Live is old of years and she could have change the story realizing the plotholes it would have bring so it doesn't count as canon, we need recent informations about that.
That question place also Lucifer as possible adoptive father of Charlie while he's clearly her biological father so it doesn't work.
Like the "Adam not coming back"Interview, she couldn't answer that exactly because it would have mean spoilers for the final project. So talking about Lilith relationship with her family would have spoiled the interest.

Ranking Hazbin Hotel Songs (S1)
I’m seeing people do this on TT, but I don’t like posting on there, so I’m posting my list here instead. Obvious warning, but these are my own personal opinions. I think all of the songs are absolute bangers, but there are some that are better than others, so keep that in mind.
16. Welcome to Heaven
Pretty much the general fandom consensus. It’s not a bad song, and I like Darren Criss as a singer, but it’s too short and doesn’t do a whole lot for the plot.
15. Finale
This might be a pretty hot take, but I’m not that big of a fan of the finale. There are some parts that I like individually, but as a whole song, it doesn’t do it for me. It’s still good though.
14. Hell’s Greatest Dad
I think this one is the one that’s gonna upset a lot of people, but I really don’t vibe with this one. No, it has nothing to do with Mimzy. In fact, I actually like her a lot, but that’s besides the point. I’m not a huge fan of talk singing, and that’s what both of Alestor’s songs are, so they aren’t going to be very high. Not even Jeremy Jordan can save this song.
13. Stayed Gone
Again, I’m just not big on talk singing. I like this one just a bit more because I like Christian Borle’s voice as a talk-singer just a bit more than Jeremy Jordan.
12. More Than Anything (Reprise)
This is a really cute song! I wish we had more Chaggie moments in the show, but I’m glad we got this. It would be much higher, but I don’t like how short it is.
11. It Starts With Sorry
Idk why so many people hate this song. It’s so cute! Charlie’s voice is so good, and I like the lesson Sir Pentious learns. It gives off children’s show song, but in a very good way.
10. Out for Love
Carmilla my beloved! I am obsessed with her. I like how she taught Vaggie in this song. Again, my only real problem with it is how short it is. Idk why they made some of their best songs so short, but I need a longer version.
9. Happy Day in Hell
I am a big fan of introduction songs in musicals, and this is a perfect example of why. It’s a nice way to see Hell, especially through the optimism of someone like Charlie. It’s silly and upbeat, and I like that a lot.
8. Poison
I love this song so much! Blake Roman did such a fantastic job with his performance as Angel. I’m not usually a big fan of this particular type of pop, which is why I have it a bit lower, but I think it fits well with what they were going for in writing this song. It’s absolutely perfect.
7. Whatever it Takes
I need these two to have another duet at some point. Their voices fit so well together. Both of their individual parts are also very solid. All around just a good song.
6. You Didn’t Know
I blast this song at least once a day. My fave part is Lute, and I wish we got more of her singing voice this season. Jessica Vosk is so talented, so I hope we get more in season two. Obviously, Charlie and Emily’s part is also amazing, and I like Sera’s parts as well.
5. Hell is Forever
Ah yes, my favorite Christian rock song. Seriously though, this song is so good. It’s most similar to the actual kind of music I listen to, so of course it’d be pretty high on this list. It’s a good intro to Adam and the angels in general, and it slaps.
4. Respectless
Velvette might actually be one of my favorite characters. She, for sure, has my favorite design of any character, and she might have my favorite female voice as well (tied with Lute). Also, she was so real for what she said to Carmilla. Her voice is just very fun to listen to.
3. More than Anything
Jeremy Jordan is the reason I live and breathe. His voice is literal honey. He and Erika Henningsen harmonizing has brought new meaning into my life. I may not have daddy issues, but I think this song healed them anyway. It’s so cute.
2. Ready for This
I’m a sucker for a good rally song, and this is exactly that. Cannibal Town is also my favorite location of any place we’ve seen, both in Hazbin and Hellava Boss, and I adore Rosie. The cannibals were very funny in this number, and I like that Charlie was able to gain some confidence.
1. Loser, Baby
I’m officially changing my brand to the #1 Huskerdust shipper ever. I’m so obsessed with them. This episode is tied for my favorite with Hello, Rosie! Keith David needs another song immediately, and so does Blake Roman. They sound so good together, and I can’t wait to hear more of them!

I saw a friend of mine do their own takes on the Hazbin characters and I decided, why not try my hand at that too?
I want to make it clear btw that I am not "fixing" these designs, just doing my own takes for fun, I may not be a big Hellaverse fan but I respect those that do and would like to keep things civil yk?
Now, unto the design notes:
----------------------------------------------------------------
Charlie - Meant to have sheep/goat features, but she's also more human-like ala those creepy human faced anthros I have seen in some animated movies.
Vaggie - I still tried to keep the moth theme, though I also made her more "angelic" to go with her backstory in the show, I also added the colors from her concept designs because I think blue looks nicer on her, and a good contrast to her girlfriend. I could've done better with her outfit but ah it's no biggie.
Angel Dust - Kept his theme of a spider demon but simplified some things, I also did base his outfit on those gangster lady costumes cus he's kinda meant to be wearing it for performance reasons ala a drag queen.
Alastor - I just wanted to make him creepier, as a jarring contrast with the rest. I added a bit more reddish brown.
Husk - You know what? fuck you!! makes your Husk part bat.
Niffty - I added some orange as a nice addition to her yellow highlights, along with making her bug-like, specifically a roach, she's also in a sorta maid outfit cus why not.

might be some controversial takes about Hazbin/Helluva under the cut but honestly I really don't know what the popular consensus is about any of it. I'm gonna try to keep these short but here's a list of thoughts I have so far.
-I'm interested in where Hazbin could go. The concept of rehabilitation for sinners and how the meaning of rehabilitation could change, as well as the unbalanced power of heaven vs. hell and who are the true sinners is very interesting.
-I don't find myself laughing at the humor of any of these shows. It feels like the kind of humor that's only supposed to shock you with the vulgarity. Which is only really funny to a teenager, not the intended adult audience.
-the music is hit or miss, mostly miss. The Hazbin pilot songs I particularly did not enjoy.
-the animation and design are nice, tho I'm not really sure who to credit with that, as I have been made aware that Vivziepop tends to take "inspiration" from artists in an informal manner.
-really do not like the sound design. The noises are obnoxious, the volumes are all over the place and there have been times where I cannot hear what characters are saying.
-voice acting is pretty good. I understand that fans got very upset when a lot of the actors for Hazbin had to be recast with union members and tbh I'm not bothered by that. Support unions.
-im worried about what they're gonna do with Vaggie. She's starting out as the partner to the main character but she's also been established as the "PC" character who annoys the fan favorites Angel Dust and Alastor.
-I'm not at all interested in Alastor, he looks like a satire of the Vivziepop style.
-Angel Dust is interesting, and I'm not too bothered by seeing an openly and overtly queer character, even if it's not sanitized. I am a little concerned about how quickly his character depth was revealed long before the first season is even finished. Could Viv really not wait to talk about Angel Dust that much? What will be left to explore in the show?
-also like, we are getting a LOT of content for Hazbin including a spinoff already on its second season, tons of merch and lots of droplets of information that end up on the wiki BEFORE the first season of the show is even out and it doesn't feel right, like the crew is celebrating the success of the show before its even out. Weird stuff. Not sure if it's gonna bite them in the ass yet.
-the Helluva pilot was not enjoyable at all and I didn't actually start watching the show until the second season
(here comes the big one)
-I actually don't mind too much what's being done with Stolas. It makes sense that a person with very few friends and trapped in an arranged marriage with a cruel partner would make the decisions that he has, regardless of whether or not they are the right ones.
-What I am concerned with is if the story with Stolas was planned from the beginning, or if it was decided later on to recontextualize his character when they crew decided they liked Stolas more than as just a cutaway gag in the pilot.
-Moxxie and Millie are... okay. On one hand it's nice to see throughout everything Moxxie has been through, as well as literally being in Hell, he still retains his kindness, empathy and love for his wife. Millie is... okay, but I get the feeling that she exists to keep Moxxie from becoming the series punching bag, like as compensation. Or a way to inject some "wholesomeness" into our main characters. I keep hearing that a Millie episode is on the way, but I don't know what really to expect.
-as a furry/scalie who isn't into canine anthros, I'm not into Loona.
-I'm interested in seeing more of what the other rings of Hell look like, tho I fear that the Gluttony ring is going to be filled with fatphobic jokes.
-The action scenes are usually pretty cool, tho with the Vivziepop style it can be a bit eye-strain-y for me.
-vivziepop stans are scary. seeing them jump to her defense whenever she faces a major criticism is frustrating and it only incites a bigger wave of criticism. see this post if you want my extended thoughts about it.
-this series is being produced, written and released in a way I don't think I've ever seen so I'm gonna try to keep an open mind about it, but that does not mean I'm gonna enjoy it blindly NOR am I gonna nitpick it. I'm gonna keep up with it and maybe share more of my thoughts, tagged accordingly and under 'read more' lines.

I was gonna wait for you to clarify what you don't like about it but fuck it I'll just do it. But I'm more writing this as understanding why people enjoy it rather than trying to actually change your mind.
There's a lot of factors that just kinda smash together to form this Thing.
Be warned: this is EXTREMELY long because I am thorough and incapable of shutting the fuck up.
First and probably biggest being they are both beloved characters. People have loved Alastor since he first appeared on screen, and Lucifer is lovable and adorable and honestly far too relatable. And honestly I've seen some theatre people fawning over Jeremy Jordan's voice and I get that. Two well-loved characters squished together = happy fans.
Then there's what initially got me hooked: the irony/joke to genuine pipeline. Like when you do something "for the lolz" enough, you'll start just...doing it. And "Charlie's two dads are fighting" is what that was for me. I thought their dynamic was hilarious and them both playing "dad", the jokes wrote themselves. This is compounded with the new Hotel's design having them seemingly on opposite ends of the same floor, leading to "and they were roommates" type jokes. And then I saw some fanart and started actually thinking about it, and was hooked.
You can't put two characters faces this close and not expect SOMEONE to ship them.
A pretty big factor imo is Lucifer's minimal shipping pool. Plenty of people ship with absolutely no basis, but most ships stem from canon dynamics, so the characters have to interact at least once. Lucifer hasn't interacted with a lot of characters, so the pool of options is in that regard limited to Alastor and Adam, plus off-screen Lilith and possibly Eve.
He and Lilith have been separated for a while we know very little about her, and we know nothing about Eve. Adam is an insufferable dickhead and presumably dead, but he is actually shipped with Lucifer pretty frequently.
Alastor meanwhile is a fan favorite character who is a jackass, but has rules and a decorum about him. I'm sure Lucifer will get other ships as we see him interact with people (I am certain people will try to ship him with Angel and/or Husk) but Alastor is who he has interacted with most.
I also just like the idea of Lucifer being able to move on after Lilith, and with his limited suitor pool, Alastor is, well, the most equipped. So that or being happy and independent alone are where I'm personally at.
Of Alastor's bigger shipping options, Lucifer seems like it'd be, surprisingly, the healthiest. Radiodust can be weird because Angel is hypersexual while Alastor is incredibly uptight, plus his multiple rejections of the very notion. Mimzy, while a dear friend, does demonstrably use him for her own gain. Husk would have some pretty icky vibes to it given Alastor owns him. Even Lilith, people think he's signed a contract with her so being owned is again a problem. I pretend Charlastor doesn't exist because Vaggie and Dad Beat Dad no hate it just icks me
The biggest ones remaining are Rosie and Vox.
It seems the consensus that Rosie and Alastor give off "platonically married" vibes. And honestly, if Alastor felt a way about her, she would know and someone would have done something about it. So generally they're shipped queerplatonic.
Vox is incredibly toxic and doesn't give a single fuck about boundaries. He is actively stalking Alastor. He is in a relationship with a literal pimp, and he knows how Val treats his "employees". He throws a huge temper tantrum over the idea that Alastor is back and immediately starts slandering him. Their rivalry stems from Alastor rejecting Vox, in a business and possibly personal sense. Vox is also very sexual (see: fucking Valentino) while Alastor is, again, very reserved in that regard.
There is a certain appeal to RadioStatic, given Vox's desperate "notice me senpai" attitude morphed into intense wounded resentment, and the idea that whatever broke their friendship apart hurt Alastor too, and reconciliation is a nice thought. And Vox is an awesome and hilarious character and people love him too. It just never really worked for me. (tbh before seeing the one on-screen look, I lowkey shipped Vox with Angel because trauma bonding over Valentino's bullshit or something)
Lucifer meanwhile is a fucking sweetheart, and while I don't think he necessarily wouldn't cross people's boundaries, there are some I don't see him crossing. If Alastor said he wasn't interested in a sexual relationship, Lucifer seems more the type to accept that, as opposed to Vox who might take it personally or be coercive. And Lucifer's been hung up on Lilith for however long they've been apart, 7 years at the VERY least, so I don't think much would change for him anyhow.
This is also why I think a good amount of Radioapple fans happen to be ace-spec. Alastor being canonically ace, it makes him a viable vehicle for someone to explore how a relationship dynamic might work for them. It's a way to think about how an asexual person would interact with romance and sex in a committed relationship. Projection in general happens in every fandom. It's also a ship that is surprisingly respectful of the character's canon sexuality, which is really refreshing.
Like, if you look at AO3, practically all of those fics are tagged for Alastor being some flavor of asexual, mostly Sex Repulsed or Non-Sex Repulsed Asexual Alastor or Aromantic Asexual Alastor, but also sprinkles of Demisexual Alastor and Greysexual Alastor. And a lot of fics actively incorporate Alastor's lack of attraction into the story, be it him experiencing no sexual attraction but romantic attraction or interest in platonic intimacy, or experiencing sexual attraction for possibly the first time. As an ace-spec person myself, people writing like that make me feel a little bit more seen and accepted and it's really nice.
Then there's canon. There is actually a little bit in canon to build on, especially for people who like the Rivals/Enemies->Lovers trope (which is made more interesting with Vox's Friends/Lovers->Enemies trajectory comparatively)
Their interactions are genuinely enjoyable. They have a really funny back and forth and their snarky back and forth is fun to watch, if nothing else.
The thing that got me after the jokes was Lucifer is the first person to make Alastor lose his composure, and he isn't even trying. Like, Alastor does get peeved and pissy, but he can usually hide it. When Vox is slandering him, there is one moment when no one is looking that he looks genuinely angry, but it's gone quickly and he mocks Vox in a casual uncaring way to give off the vibe that he's unaffected.
But Alastor, for some reason, is irritated from the moment Charlie opens the door.
And then when he actually interacts with Lucifer, their back and forth is pretty low effort at least on Lucifer's end, and yet it gets Alastor to drop his first curse word in the series.
Alastor swears a total of 4 times in the series thus far at three people: Adam, Lucifer, and Susan.
He calls Susan an "ornery old bitch" probably because, well, she is. And the way he says it is casual, like he's said something like that about Susan before lmao. And Alastor is genuinely happy around Rosie where he isn't with others so casually dropping a curse is more natural.
With Adam, he swears once when he is letting loose ("I'm about to end your fucking life."), and once when he's caught off guard ("What just happened? Ffffffuck.")
With Lucifer, that "Fuck you" feels like it comes out of nowhere, especially since Alastor hasn't sworn in all of four prior episodes. He spent HALF of the season not swearing and this is what does it. Lucifer didn't even really try and he's gotten under Alastor's skin in record time. And that can feel like something to explore, especially with someone as controlled and secretive as Alastor. If Lucifer can cause a crack in his mask, how far could that go?
There's also that before Alastor starts going for the throat by praising Charlie, Lucifer is having fun.
I am obsessed with what Lucifer's eyes do in this scene.
And this little play fight comes right on the heels of
so him having fun is nice to see because yowch depression is a bitch.
And then he also gets so mad at Alastor and he makes just...the funniest faces.
Sure, Lucifer is also kinda just Like That but...it's endearing lol
Also, if you're listening, in Hell's Greatest Dad, the more Alastor bothers Lucifer, the more genuine he gets. Like he has this general facade that you can hear in his voice that's like he's trying to mix a professional kingly persona and the dad he thinks Charlie wants (it's almost like his equivalent to the "Customer Service Voice"), and by the end of the song, that tone has dropped, if only for a moment. The only other time he really drops it is the entirety of More Than Anything.
Alastor is also someone who just doesn't treat Lucifer like "royalty", which could be refreshing if most of his interactions are as the "King of Hell" and people are falsely respectful to him all the time. Alastor meanwhile despite being substantially weaker, is willing to talk shit to Lucifer's face. This also means that if Alastor were to ever compliment Lucifer, he'd know it's genuine and not empty flattery because Alastor would rather die than treat him as a superior. And that honesty could mean a lot for Lucifer.
And then there's the additional drama that is Lilith. Lucifer is clearly still hung up on her, not just keeping portraits with her in them, but still wearing his wedding band after who knows how long and presumably no contact for at least seven years. Alastor's disappearance coincides with Lilith's, implying they're connected in some way, either working together or her owning his soul being the most common theories. Like, how heartbreaking would it be for Lucifer to finally move on only for that person having been in close contact with his ex and never telling him? How painful would it be for Alastor to develop feelings when he is at the beck and call of his interest's last and first love? There's so much drama in just that, not even touching on the other traumas these two have.
And then there's even just the possibility of Alastor just being Lucifer's "type" due to his surface similarities to Lilith. Tall, poised, domineering, proud, elegant, powerful, powers associated with sound (singing vs radio), and probably more I'm not thinking of off the top of my head.
The consistency of height difference in the Hellaverse. Blitz and Stolas, Fizz and Ozzie, Lucifer and Lilith, Husk and Angel, Vox and Val (if only because Val is freakishly tall), Niffty and literally anyone, and to a lesser degree Vaggie and Charlie, and Blitz and Verosika. Off the top of my head, the only big ships that are close in height are Millie and Moxxie, and Cherri and Pentious. And Alastor and Vox if you want to count them. Pattern recognition be recognitioning.
According to the wiki at least, Viv once said Alastor like people who are similar to him, but not too similar, and I think that actually describes Lucifer pretty well. It's the idea of the two of them constantly making awful wordplay jokes that has me honestly.
And the last thing I'll say is that Amir Talai makes jokes about it and it's really funny if I'm being honest.
That took way too much of my brain energy lol but I hope that helps someone understand if nothing else.
I don’t like radioapple change my mind

Hazbin Hotel Review Part 1: I liek this, this is good
Eeeey I finally watched it how bout that?
I want to start with the things I liked because honestly, there’s a lot of things to like, also to give my opinion on some of the more common criticism landed it’s way.
--- Ima leave all the drama about Vivienne herself aside and focus on the episode/pilot as is. If you want to know the issues with her (actual issues, not the bs Bad Webcomics Wiki spews out or the false pedo claims) here’s a blog from a person within the VivziePop fanbase that’s detailed a lot of concerns. Make of them what you will but please don’t blacklist the show. There’s other ppl working on it and don’t threaten to block fans over them liking a show you don’t. That’s the kind of shit that would feed my Pure O and anxiety back in the day. Please stop, you’re making things really toxic. ---
So here’s what I liked:
People talking about the sound design being faulty or distracting when honestly I thought it was pretty good. Like, REALLY pretty good! The sound effects weren’t too glaring and fit. IDK, when I hear “bad/too many sound effects in animation” I think of either Johnny Test or this.
The animators should be proud! Yes, there were a lot of shots obviously done by different people, but it didn’t bother me in the slightest (or no more than Steven Universe did). Oh wow you guys dealt with those designs so well and just dang look at that squash and stretch. Also, it wasn’t ALL squash and stretch and stayed fluid while keeping slow and focused like it needed to be.
Songs were great! These animators obviously specialize in music videos so while I might not be going home humming the words the visuals more than make up for it. Also, it’s musical wow.
Other critics of Viv get on her for making everything super pink but honestly I like the color scheme of Hazbin. Characters are all different shades of red, pink, black, and yellow with some minimal color in between. Glaring, over-designed, and in need of proper color-theory? Yes. Aesthetically doomed from the get go? No. Viv’s surname “VivziePop” suits her cause her style alone does really pop! Simplify designs a great deal and the style is fine tbh.
What reason besides homophobia could people not want Charlie and Vaggie to be an item? They’re literally the ONLY good thing in this world.
The idea! Excuse me while I delve into stupid fan dribble here:
I love the idea of a “princess of Hell” not fitting the quota of what’s befitting of an antichrist, wanting to reform sinners and demons, acting so un-devilish but having to be in control of this awful place. Sue me that shit is cute.
I reeeeally like Charlie, who is without a doubt my favorite character cause oh my god you know how I am with cute demons and monsters.
This version of Hell is pretty interesting as well. Instead of routine torture (I think???*), souls get purged from existence. Besides wanting to make people happy, Charlie has every reason to want to see sinners reform - these are her people, in her words. Me thinks they’re going for an Elder Cunningham-type character arc from The Book of Mormon; with the demons being cross and convinced redemption is pointless but then Charlie gets them on her side somehow and they steadily make asses of themselves while becoming ‘better’ people. That’s my prediction anyway.
ALL the main four characters have potential to be interesting: Charlie; a bubbly fish-out-of water with big, unspeakably unrealistic dreams who doesn’t give up. Vaggie; a girl who you gotta wonder what the hell she’s down in hell in the first place for and is clearly the only sane woman here. Angel; a jack of all trades but secretly master of none, finding Charlie hopeless but putting up with her all the same. Alastor; a “mysterious”** character who the other demons of hell are scared of and we know is up to no good stuff with Charlie but hey he’s got power, he knows what he’s doing.
Why am I not mentioning the rest of the cast? We’ll talk soon...
A lot of flaq about the cursing and the offensiveness and stuff but...honestly I’ve seen worse! I’ve watched Satellite City and Brandon Rogers. While there still was a little too much cursing from every single character, it wasn’t distracting to me. Also outside of Angel making a bunch of sex jokes, which suits him cause he’s Angel, I don’t remember so much edgy for the sake of edgy humor. I was going in expecting Drawn Together or Shane Dawson, but I came out with Invader Zim style-snappiness.
Voice acting was pretty awesome sauce. They did a great job and everyone suited their character. I’m iffy on my opinion of Alastor, but ngl wow what a cool idea to have him sound like a radio.
Minor things that I think should be redesigned, rewritten or thought out a bit more are just that: minor and more suited to just baseless what-if fan dribble. The show is in production anyway.
