i originally REALLY didn't want to write retriever for him because that would have been boring i mean just look at him anyone would think he's a retriever boy but i couldnt do it it was too much for me he just IS

the lucky cat cafe doesn't really have the capacity to welcome another inhabitant (hiro and tadashi are already crammed into one room!) so he doesnt have any pets.

however, when tadashi does move out into his own place i imagine he would go to the animal shelter to adopt instead of purposely looking for any breed, so he wouldn't necessarily own a golden retriever. that or he would rescue abused dogs from breeders or dogs used for animal testing. i feel like i can see him with a labrador or beagle because a lot of them are found in shelters (and the beagle's trusting nature makes them popular for animal testing :( ). while i HC him to have bad allergies i dont think he is allergic to animals. even though you can take pets to get microchipped i think tadashi puts gps tracking in his furry companion's collar or clothes like he does for hiro

hiro hamada - shiba inu

shibas are bratty and mischievous and if hiro doesn't give off shiba energy then idk

tbh i dont think hiro would be a dog person. like i think he would like giving them pets and belly rubs and all that but he wouldn't be up for the responsibility of taking care of them. like it's a whole life he's responsible for but he can't even take care of himself yet if anything i think he is more of a cat person and would prefer low-maintenance animal friends. plus he has to share a room with tadashi so it's not even like he can own any pets for another like 5-10 years and we KNOW hes not gonna move out of his house at 18 not in san fransokyo in this economy with 8$ ass matcha lattes

(assuming the economic state of the world canonically is similar to IRL bh6 canonically takes place sometime in 203x the USD has to be far more inflated than rn)

i like to think when hiro does age up and move out though he'd probably be a startup founder or some super high ranking engineer at a young ass age so he'd be super invested in his work because hes a robotics nerd like so much so that he almost doesn't have time for himself let alone a furry companion whose life and wellbeing he has to be responsible for

gogo tomago : german pinscher

i think gogo would have something like a pinscher or a german shepard -- large, capable and vigilant watchdogs because her house is canonically in a shitty neighborhood and i think there has been several times where her dog has gotten her out of a troubling situation--when gogo cooks or grills meat she makes sure to share some with her buddy as a reward for their service and sometimes she also takes her friend on late night drives or motorcycle rides

gogo doesn't come by her friend via breeder nor animal shelter. the dog was just abandoned on the side of the road and she came across it one day on a leisurely drive. so she let the dog in her car and drove home. originally she didn't plan on keeping it: she calls her friends and anybody she knows if they want a dog-- they have no space in the house or they are too busy to welcome another friend into the household. she goes to the animal shelter in her neighborhood-- there is no more space. so she just goes home and they become great friends. there are very little beings for whom gogo has a soft spot and readily shows vulnerability to-- her furry friend being one of them.

i dont think honey lemon is a dog owner. like she wouldn't be opposed to it but she just hasn't gotten to it. she also lives in a dorm and dorms that allow pets are crazy hard to come by, so i imagine she wouldn't be allowed to keep any pets anyway. (but apparently MIT has cat-friendly dorms and SFIT is basically californian japanese MIT so who knows maybe). when she does move out from her dorm into an apartment i could see her owning a saluki or a pomeranian and she would give them cute little accessories and bows to wear. i think she would match outfits with them for a coffee run or something. i could also see her as an aviculturist because of her care for the environment

wasabi might be tall big and extremely vigilant and careful of strangers and thus intimidating, but i think he's the type to like little animals. like a gentle giant. because of his extreme need to be clean and organized 24/7 he probably wouldn't own a tibetan mastiff cus mastiffs drool everywhere and all the goddamn time. as a matter of fact he probably wouldn't own a dog (and apparently according to one of the bh6 games he lives in an apartment so he might not even be allowed to) i do think he would own a bunny and even some frogs, whose enclosures he makes sure are neat and tidy all the time. like he'd instantly start cleaning the bunny's cage after a single dropping.

Something something. Making Solas a liar in Veilguard actively brings back a problem they fixed working on Inquisition.

On December 20 2019 VGS posted an interview with Trick Weekes about their work on Solas. This whole sentence is a link so its large enough for mobile but also disclaimer this is before they changed their name so deadname warning.

Here's a transcription I found here which is where i took the screenshots above. Since I know not everyone has 40 minutes to listen to an online radio interview.

I however highlighted the main point since most of you are not reading the screenshots anyway but skimming through. Rant under Read-more. Also bc i try to not be too negative on people's dashs but also i wanna ramble some more.

"But he lied a lot more. And it really weakened his character."

You can tell this happened during the game. Solas lies only once within Inquisition. He says something he can't be vague about and you push him so he lies, badly. He usually tells the truth vaguely. Typically Solas lies no more than Blackwall.

I fully believe that if in Inquisition your inquisitor figured out that Solas was Fen’harel and asked him bluntly to his face he'd confess. He might even be impressed. But why would you ever start to think that. No one assumes that their coworker is actually Poseidon regardless of how much they love the beach and ocean.

He hides in your expectations.

You can't ask him about being an ancient elf or being Fen'harel of myth because those aren't very probable. They're astronomically low to be truth within that universe. And outside, no one finished DA2 and went i wonder if one of our next companions is the Dread Wolf. Sera said, impossible things can't be surprises. He doesn't have to lie so when the truth comes out it's becomes obvious on a second playthrough.

They then actively bring back a problem they fixed in Inquisitions development. That they were open about fixing. That having a character that outright lies to you makes you have no intention of even hearing out the character. It retroactively undercuts Inquisition bc i see people trying to find Solas' lies in it when they aren't going to find any beyond the court intrigue.

It undercuts any lore we do get from Solas bc people dismiss it outright as being a lie from Mr "I abhor blood magic". I feel like shaking people's shoulders like no, dont do it.

They retconned him guys i have proof from 2019.

And its like if you hate Solas is this even satisfying? Like that's not Solas. His motivations are gone (that's a whole other post) and so is his core personality trait. It's like they went here's the Dreadwolf but during the ten years they replaced the smug asshole who was insufferably right with a 20 yo senior chihuahua that doesnt have any teeth.

My favorite villains are those that tell the truth. Because nothing hurts more than the truth. Can you imagine if he told you the truth. If he told you horrible things that you dismissed as lies to only be true. Wouldn't Varric’s death have more weight if he told you Varric was dead only for you - for everyone - to see him in the Lighthouse. If it was a spirit who took his shape to help you or even because it saw something worth reflecting in your memories.

So you dismiss him until it's revealed near the end oh he was telling the truth and you have an oh shit maybe he was right about other things but its too late to try and stop any of the truths he told you which could be from allies/companions betraying to stuff about Ghilan'nain and Elgarnan.

Like the only way to redeem Solas was to listen to him and by going out of your way to address problems he sees and you can find the alternative to tearing down the Veil by a series a little puzzle pieces throughout the game.

Have it be he will only listen to you if you listen to him. That he'll reject your other solution bc why the hell would he trust you if you couldnt extend the same.

Like Solas couldve been a great villian and he should've been great for both the haters and those that liked him. Not only the romance but for those who became his friend. Like i keep coming back to if i hated Solas would i be satisfied with Veilguard.

And the answer is no because that isnt Solas.

Tricking him has no weight bc he's an idiot in Veilguard like not even in the ending bc doesn't notice you switch the dagger around like right in front of him but none of his actions make sense. Ppl have mentioned the regret prison makes no sense for Elgarnan and Ghilan'nain bc they don't have regrets.

Attacking Solas has no weight because he literally needs the shit kicked out of him by a dragon for it to even begin to work. They literally need him to be at deaths door before its realistic that Rook could take him in a fight.

Redeem has no weight bc of the massive retcons to his motivations. They had to retcon the post credits scene bc even if Flemythal went hey i don't want you to do this Dai Solas wouldve went okay but that doesnt solve my other problems with the veil including the corruption of spirits and the fact its in literal shambles so i guess is still coming down.

I'm just disappointed. By the end of Trespasser they had a great villian and they just tossed it to the side and reverted him and people are arguing about a character who's sole defining trait in Veilguard is a problem they solved before Inquisition launched.

your day had been going too well for it to continue.

you had gotten to your local coffee shop before it got too busy, gotten up to the bullpen without getting catcalled by some jackass outside and you and your boyfriend were the only ones in the office which was nice.

it was quiet and the first 30 minutes your day was spent sat opposite jake just talking until your friends and colleagues filtered in through the elevator.

and then everything came crashing down.

multiple people in the holding cell caused the bullpen to be filled with noise which was unsettling.

the coffee you had gotten this morning spilled over your desk and your lap.

your phone had died half way through a conversation with your sister and you knew she wouldn't appreciate it seeming like you hung up on her.

and you had misfiled some evidence and had to talk to holt to fix it.

you hoped he would be in a good mood so this wouldn't end up with you getting reamed out.

unfortunately that was not the case.

while he didnt yell you could sense the annoyance & slight disappointment in his tone as he told you do leave so he could deal with it.

and you did leave.

but instead of heading back to your desk you went to the evidence lock up, heading towards the back corner and sinking down onto the floor, the cool surface bringing you out of your head very slightly.

but it wasnt enough to stop the hot burning tears from falling from your eyes.

this wasnt something you should be getting so upset about, there were people in the world that had it a lot worse than you and here you were crying over the tiniest things.

just because they had happened in quick succession it felt so overwhelming.

you were way too in your own head to notice your name being called quietly into the room.

it was only when you saw a set of shoes infront of you that your attention was pulled from the spiralling thoughts in your head.

your hands instantly lifted to wipe at your cheeks to try and pass it off like you weren't crying.

" woah woah, hey. what's wrong, babe? "

the sound of jake's voice did not relax you as much as usual.

you shook your head, trying to shake off this awful tightness in your chest but that did nothing to calm jake's worry.

he crouched down beside you momentarily before sitting down next to you, knowing that his gaze on you could overwhelm you even further.

his arm dropped to around your shoulders and your head instantly dropped down onto the soft fabric of his hoodie.

" you wanna tell me why you're hiding in the evidence lock up ?" he asked, his fingertips running over the fabric of your shirt.

" everything was just going so well this morning and then i spilled my coffee, the holding cell is so full of jackasses, my phone died and then i misfiled some evidence... it all just went to shit "

his small motions on your shoulder were calming you slightly but not by much, your shoulders were still shaking and you couldnt bring yourself to take a full breath.

jake didn't reply for a few moments but his fingertips kept tracing shapes over your shoulder.

" ok, well these are all easy fixes. rosa has a charger in her desk she'll let you use, the holding cell is thinning out really quickly and you left a spare pair of jeans at my apartment a couple days ago and i brought them to give back to you, so you can change into those. "

how he managed to solve all of your problems so quickly you'll never know, but you were just so grateful.

you turned your body further into his, smiling softly when he wrapped his arm tighter around you and pressed a short kiss onto the top of your head.

" thank you "

" you're welcome, babe " he said quietly.

both of you remained sat on the floor of the evidence lock up for a couple more minutes before jake moved to stand and lead both of you back to the bullpen.

before he could take you outside you pulled him back by his hand, a soft and playful pout resting on your lips.

"can i have one more hug?" you asked, tilting your head back to look up at him.

a grin spread across his face.

"aw, babe you don't have to ask, c'mere..."

you quickly closed the two feet between the two of you and wrapped your arms around his torso, your head buried against his chest.

another 5 minutes were spent surrounded by weapons in boxes just hugging your boyfriend.

but when you returned to the bullpen, everything seemed a little bit better

“y/n? its rinnie. lets go out. you havent gotten out of bed in days. its not the end of the world. ill take you to a nice cafe.” haerin said as she knocked on the bedroom door.

“dude, too soon. no cafes.” you heard danielle mutter as she lightly hit haerin’s shoulder.

“y/n, its dani. please come out?”

hesitantly, you got up slowly and unlocked the door. behind it, revealed danielle, haerin, hyein, and minji, all holding essential items they knew would comfort you. ice cream, tissue, ramen, all sorts of stuff.

“oh, poor yn..” hyein pouted with sympathy as she pulled you into her arms. she wasn’t wrong, poor you. your eyes were puffy and red from crying, on top of your heavy eye bags due to the lack of sleep.

“y/n? someone’s here to see you.” hanni informed as she came up the stairs.

your stomach dropped to the floor. you felt your heart pounding out your chest, it almost came out your mouth.

“tell him to leave.” you scoffed, turning to go back into your room.

“it’s not him.” minji cut you off as she pulled your arm to turn you around.

slowly, the five girls moved out the way to reveal jungwon and jake, standing at the bottom of the staircase. “hey y/n.” jake politely waved.

“we’ll give you some time.” minji and danielle nodded as they took the others into the second bedroom.

“i know what you’re thinking. and before you say anything, riki didn’t deny it by choice. if it was up to him, the whole world would have already known how much he loves you. but the manager insisted it was this way. even bang pd wanted your word for the article, yet they just wanted to leave you out of it.” jake spoke slowly to you as jungwon wiped away your dry tears with a wet tissue.

“where is he right now?” you whispered. you were almost unsure if they could hear you or not.

“still locked in his room. you two are in the same boat right now. he’s just like you, he refused to leave his bed.” jungwon chuckled as he attempted to lighten the mood. “we talked to the manager this morning, and last week after the scandal first came out. but there’s nothing we could do.”

“thank you for trying. i had no idea. i just, i really can’t face him right now.” you sighed, rubbing your forehead in annoyance.

“we understand. take your time. i just hope you two are back in shape for music bank, when you guys have to go on in two days.” said jake, before he got up to get more water from the kitchen.

“wait- then, who covered for us five days ago? if i didn’t show up, i assume he didn’t either.” you furrowed your brows.

“eunchae and sangmin came back temporarily due to the circumstances. but you two are required to be back by this next airing.” jungwon informed.

“jungwon, we should get going. but it was lovely talking to you. see you around.” jake politely interrupted as jungwon followed him out the door.

you remained sat on the couch in silence. “what am i gonna do..” you murmured.

Fabric overview: Neoprene scuba

next up on my favorite fabrics is neoprene scuba! This is a newer fabric to me but once i started using it, i couldnt stop haha.

neoprene scuba is a polyester double knit fabric with a sponge-spacer in between that can vary in size from barely noticeable to 3mm or more. its sometimes referred to as spacer fabric as a result. the term "scuba" can be thrown around a lot, but it typically refers to a thick, double knit poly fabric. It will usually have stretch via the knit weave. (this is something to watch out for, consistency in labeling is worth making note of)

I love neoprene scuba for its ability to hold smooth, defined forms. the thickness is great for smoothing, and the spongey layer gives it a good, shapely body structure. plus the double knit weave creates a soft finish. because of these properties, its my #1 go to for cartoony costumes.

neoprene scuba is also great for bodysuits and form-fitting things as well due to its smoothing properties. I like it a lot for boot covers.

Typically the two main things i use scuba for are bodysuits and capes. Capes for the shape, bodysuits for the smoothing. also it doesnt fray much so I have on occasion left edges raw!

Things to watch out for: 1) as was alluded to, its not easy to shop for. because of the variation in sponge thickness, if youre buying online its not easy to tell if youre getting a thinner, standard double knit or a true spacer scuba. also the terms can be hard to track from neoprene, scuba, spacer, bonded wetsuit fabric, etc. it takes some footwork to find the right fabric. 2) by nature, its a stretch fabric and its not easy to make...unstretchy. this stretch can pose challenges for draping, especially on capes. 3) its heavy and its itchy. no surprise that twice the layers of fabric mean that it can get heavy fast, and the sponge layer is made of little polyester pokers that can irritate the hell out of skin. lining a bodysuit or finishing internal seams is a must. 4) neoprene isnt easy to top stitch. its like trying to top stitch marshmallow. i havent been able to top stitch neoprene in a way that doesnt create a rounded bump effect (which hey, you might even want depending on the application). 5) its a thick heavy fabric, so its another needlesnapper when sewing. also because the dual layers, pressing seams is not always easy. 6) sometimes it has a waterproof finish that makes paining hard, ive also had the sponge layer *literally* suck paint up when trying to airbrush it. (again, think about how applying watery paint to a sponge would go)

despite the downsides, its a fast favorite of mine. what it can do well, it does *so* well. its a special fabric thats akin to sewing with a thin layer of plush marshmallow (as as mentioned...pros and cons to that)

I get my neoprene fabric from big Z mostly, but its also offered at fabric wholesale direct and spandex world. jo anns also has some fascinating scuba suedes that im a big fan of as well. it has a price point between 9-20$ a yard.

UNDER THE STARS KÖNIG

- reader and könig are star gazing together while reader yaps, but könig cant keep his feelings to himself.

‘and like, it was so nice. the observatory was so good at catering too. i really enjoyed it- we should go together sometime. you would like it a lot. the quality of it all was amazing too.’

könig hummed in agreement. ‘what was the food?’ he asked. he wanted to hear more of your sweet voice. nothing was better to him than hearing you talk about the things you loved, and the opinions you had. all your nice stories replaced the horror stories in his head- you made him forget all the bad things.

the stars above you two shone, and the moonlight hit your face in a euphoric way- könig couldnt keep his eyes off you. the way you scanned all the stars, looking for shapes and patterns between the twinkling lights above. your back felt slightly damp from the grass you two were laying on- the sprinkling rain from earlier still present in the ground.

‘oh my god, they had this amazing cheese. i was about to become a mouse!!’ you breathlessly laughed, earning a smile from könig. ‘and the pasta, god it was the best thing ive ever had!! i would do anything to take you there. it was great, seriously. we werent allowed to eat in the.. inflatable balloon thing where they put the space stuff on, you know?’

you went on with your rambling, and it felt nice for könig to just listen for once. obviously you asked him questions and he would give answers- but hearing your melodic voice tell him memory after memory made his heart warm, and his stomach flutter.

könig looked away from your face, staring into the face of stars. they seemed to all point at you. he fought the urge to tell you what he thought of you, how beautiful you were, how your body was perfect, how you made him laugh, how you out the butterflies in his stomach and make him feel like-

‘könig? are you listening to me?’

he turned to face you, his attention, previously on the stars, going straight to you. ‘im sorry, can you repeat that?’ he asked, longing to hear your babbling again. ‘so i wanted to-’

‘y/n,’ your head turned to him, appreciating how the stars seemed to highlight his blue eyes. you hummed in answer. ‘i.. i dont know if you will feel the same about this but..’ he seemed smaller than usual, his confidence at an all time low. ‘you make me feel better about everything. looking at you makes my heart grow fond. i feel.. i feel like youre my best.. you are the best thing in my life. and i dont want to ruin us- because you are very important to me. but i cant keep this in anymore. i.. i like you very… i love you.’

you felt your eyes widen slightly, you mouth slightly open. staring into his blue eyes, trying to examine all his thoughts and feelings. you felt your lips curling up, hearing the words you wanted to hear from him for all the time you’ve known eachother.

‘i love you too, könig.’
