The thing is. They didn't have to make Nancy's music box the colors of the lesbian flag. They didn't need to make the music box that Robin so excitedly uncovered have a triangle mirror with a pink interior. In fact, it doesn't even make sense for the mirror to be triangular, since that gives the user the least area of visibility. But no, they needed to have pink triangle imagery and that specific color palette. For Robin to discover and present to us.

Paige Bueckers HEADCANONS:
Anniversary Ver.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello, so I know I've been pretty MIA, and I'm sorry. But life isn't gonna stop for anyone, especially not me. But im back, so that's what matters. im gonna go ahead and answer a few questions.
Yes. Three's A Crowd. Is returning for the final installment. Aka the smut, so many people have mesaged me for.
No. I don't write for Emily, I thought about it, and then she signed with an Israeli team. So that's a firm NO.
Yes. This is very corny, and I projected just a little. With a sprinkle of all over the place but with the drama arising in the paige Hashtags. I thought we could use a cleanse and something light-hearted.
1. Surprise Anniversary Trip ♡
Paige would spend weeks planning a surprise weekend getaway to a cozy cabin in the mountains. She would make sure to secretly pack your favorite clothes, snacks, and a few sentimental items. As you guys drove along the scenic route, Paige would keep the destination a secret, enjoying the look of curiosity and excitement on your face. When you guys finally arrived, the cabin was perfect—nestled among tall trees with a breathtaking view of the valley below. Paige would arrange for a private chef to prepare a romantic dinner for you on the first night, complete with candles, soft music, and a crackling fireplace.
2. Custom Jewelry ♡
On the morning of your anniversary, Paige would present you with a small, beautifully wrapped box. Inside would be a delicate silver bracelet with your anniversary date engraved on the inside. The bracelet would also feature a small charm shaped like a basketball, symbolizing the sport that she loves and a small lockette as a symbol of you guys being together forever. Paige would spend hours choosing the design, wanting it to be something you could wear every day, close to your heart.
3. Personalized Love Letters ♡
Paige handed you a beautifully wrapped box tied with a satin ribbon. Inside were twelve letters, one for each month you guys had been together. Each envelope was decorated with little doodles and stickers, and the letters themselves were filled with Paige’s heartfelt thoughts and memories. She recounted you guy's first date, the moment she realized she was in love, and all the little moments that made their relationship special. Reading through the letters showed a beautiful testament to you guys' love and admiration for each other.
4. Home-Cooked Dinner ♡
Despite her busy schedule, Paige took a day off to prepare a gourmet dinner for your anniversary. She spent the entire day shopping for ingredients, following recipes, and setting up the dining area. She decorated the table with candles, flowers, and their best dinnerware. When you finally arrived, you were greeted with the mouth-watering aroma of your favorite dishes. Paige served a three-course meal, finishing with a simple but delicious dessert she had made from scratch. You both spent the evening talking, laughing, and reminiscing about your years together and the ones to come.
5. Memory Scrapbook ♡
Paige created a scrapbook filled with photos, mementos, and little notes from you guys first year together. She included ticket stubs from concerts and movies, pressed flowers from dates, and candid snapshots of spontaneous moments. Each page was carefully crafted, with handwritten notes detailing the memories behind each item. The scrapbook was a journey through your relationship, and a tangible reminder of all the love and joy the both of you shared.
6. Midnight Stargazing ♡
After the romantic dinner, Paige drove you both to a quiet spot away from the city lights. She set up a cozy spot in the back of her car with blankets and pillows, creating a little nest where they could lie down and stargaze. Both of you spent hours under the stars, sharing your dreams and hopes for the future. Paige pointed out constellations and told stories about them,*with you constantly reminding her she googled them* making you feel special and cherished. The night was filled with soft whispers and gentle kisses, a perfect end to your anniversary.
7. Special Song ♡
Paige had secretly learned to play a special song on the guitar, one that held significance for your relationship. After dinner, she brought out the guitar and, with a shy smile, began to play. You recognized the song immediately, your eyes filling with tears as Paige’s beautiful but nervous voice filled the room. It is a beautiful, intimate moment showcasing Paige’s love and effort to make the night memorable.
8. Custom Illustration ♡
Knowing your artistic side, Paige commissioned a custom illustration of both of you together. The artwork depicted a scene from your favorite date—sitting together on a park bench, holding hands and watching the sunset. The artist had captured everything perfectly, and the colors were vibrant and full of life. Paige had the illustration framed and presented it as a gift, a beautiful token of the relationship that would hang in your apartment.
9. Midnight Dance ♡
After dinner, Paige took you to a secluded garden or a rooftop overlooking the city. She had brought a portable speaker and played your "couples" song on her phone. Under the moonlight, you guys danced together, lost in each other’s arms. The world seemed to fade away as you both swayed to the music, your love palpable in every touch and glance. It was a perfect, magical moment, one that Paige and you would both remember for years to come.
If you made it this far, thank you! If you have any critiques or requests. My inbox and ask are very open, so feel free. 🤍

lucid love
↬ kinktober 2024 x voting event | round 1
cw: fantasy elements in modern setting, smut, sexual dreams, fictional stimulants, reader with a vagina, BDSM & dark themes present in some rounds, aged up characters available as options in some votings, further warnings vary by story summary: lucid love! the latest fashion on the eropotion market and the absolute must have of everyone you know! a collection of potions providing realistic and vivid erotic dreams has gone viral and become almost unavailable in regular sale. a little potionary in the red-light district is your last hope for finally getting a taste of the most wanted product this october a/n: happy kinktober y'all! little birds chirped you wanted more voting events 💅 this time the game will be a little simpler - you will know characters and know what to expect from each option. i can't promise though it will be easier to choose 🤭 voting and more details at the end of post!
Tumblr media
It's so…average. Looks like any other potionary.
It takes you aback at first. You've expected something rather extraordinary, befitting a building located in the red-light district—instead, you're standing in front of a shop that could be easily mistaken for a pharmacy. You even take a double look at Google Maps. The address checks, so does the neon magenta potionist emblem, neatly slotted between signs hung over sex shops, massage parlors and love hotels all around.
The door is heavy and announces your arrival with an old school bell. Potionary is more spacious than you assumed from the window display, almost soundproof, replacing the street noise with soft jazz music. There's a distinct sweet vanilla smell in the air; you inhale deep, your confusion and uncertainty in no time replaced with relaxation. A simple sensory stimulant, a popular booster trick used in almost all shops nowadays.
Woman behind the counter peels eyes off a book and stubs her cigarette into a pocket ashtray. She's really pretty despite dark circles under her eyes and intimidating aura surrounding her. At the first glance you know she's not someone to mess with, even if short and petite; she must be a mage, and not just an average amateur mage you can usually meet in potion shops, but a true magic master, maybe even the head behind this business.
The name tag on her white coat doesn't ring any bells, though. Shoko Ieiri. Vibrant, easy to remember.
"Welcome." Her voice is dry, and she speaks a little too silent, forcing you to lean towards her over the counter. "What can I interest you with today?"
Hangover treatment, sexual potency boosters, aphrodisiacs, soft hallucinogens—this is the usual merchandise sold in potionaries from the red-light areas. But you're looking for something else, something you're not even sure if it's currently offered. You tried in three different shops already, three times sold out & no idea when the delivery is coming. Demand is huge, the factory can't follow the appetite of customers, and the prices from the private sellers break records on amazon.
"Do you maybe have—"
Half of the sentence in, Shoko's face turns from disinterested to mildly curious. She coils a strand of hair around her finger and smiles, "Lucid Love, right?"
As you nod, she presses a button under the counter. In no time another woman peeks out the backroom, bows at you awkwardly.
"Take the register for me." She moves to the back, then motions you to enring the counter. "And you, come with me."
There's another room, protected by a code lock, small and cluttered. Scents and music don't sneak here, space is filled with shadows and shelves, packed to the brim with boxes and folders. Shoko maneuvers through this labyrinth with ease, leading you to an armchair hidden in a cozy corner. Table lamp provides more light, there's a plate with complimentary cookies and an instant potion kettle, an older, almost vintage, model.
"You're in luck, I'm in good contact with the main designer, so I got a hold on quite an interesting stash extra." Shoko turns the kettle on for you. Waters inside swirls and bubbles, turning from clear to violet within seconds.
"Is the price also…extra?"
"Whom do you take me for?" She laughs. "This is a legal business; I can't sell it above the price tag."
You're handed a mug with the company logo, "It's herbs, dried fruits and a splash of relaxing solution. Clean and organic. Treat yourself."
Drink is sweet, floral and hot—but not hot enough to burn your tongue. When you lean to pour yourself more, you spot a fatigued leaflet folded and hooked under the kettle.
You peel it out for a closer look.
Tumblr media
"Will it be to go or—" Shoko watches you intently. Not until then you realized that the armchair can be spread and morphed into a makeshift bed.
"Oh, no, I'll test it at my own place."
She doesn't say anything, just leaves you to your own thoughts, to fumble in one of the shelves behind your back.
"Have you ever tried Lucid Love? Or a similar hallucinogen?" A sudden question makes you flinch. Silence and a tasty, relaxing drink have dulled your senses and let your mind drift away.
"No, never." Potions influencing dreams haven't really grasped your interest before Lucid Love became viral. It wasn't the first of its kind, but it grew in popularity so fast and gathered so many ecstatic reviews that you just couldn't stop the seed of curiosity from growing. You still fought quite long against it, but once you gathered enough spare funds for treats and nights started growing longer and colder… Temptation has become too unbearable to resist.
"Any special interests? Fetishes?" The clatter of boxes and folders move towards left and Shoko's gaze meets yours when you look over your shoulder.
"None that I can think of now."
"Since it's your first time—" She eventually pulls a thick binder out. "—I'd recommend something simple and well-tried."
She flicks the pages over too fast for you to follow but you recognize the familiar pattern of Lucid Love label and logo. You take a closer look once she finally stops; the folder is full of leaflets describing offered dream scenarios, varying in colors and content warning symbols.
"Those are from last year, the second released collection." Shoko hands you the chosen three. "100% positive reviews. I tested a few from this line myself, they do hit the spot."
Even the paper is magically derived, soft and velvety in your fingers, promising the softest and most pleasant sensations. It takes you a while to focus on text instead. As much as it's tempting to buy all three of them, knowing the tricks of magic stimulants, you took only as much cash as needed for only one.
It may be a difficult choice—but it needs to be made.
There are 45 prompt & character(s) combos divided into 15 votings, 3 options to choose from per each round. Option with the highest number of votes wins.
This way, you will choose 15 kinktober fics: one shots on shorter (below 2k words) side. Themes vary, from very vanilla, through kink and fetishes, towards dark content and monsterfucking. Everyone will (hopefully) find something for themself 😤
Prompts were selected from my private drafts and are partially pre-written, so I hope I can keep the ~24h per fic tempo, however I don't promise anything. My goal is to fit everything in October, stretching it no further than half of November - but only time will show!
If you don't want to miss fic posting time and next votings, you can ask to be added to a tag list! I'll try to keep more or less the same time of publication (so, 3pm CET) but I can't promise I will always fit there.
Before you ask - I'm not sure if all of the losing options will be eventually written. Some of them for sure, since I've been itching for working with them for a while now, but I often abandon drafts for no reason. So, again, no promises. It's better to fight hard for your favorite option, agenda and voting suasion is encouraged ;)
i'm super excited for this kinktober! and i hope y'all will enjoy the ride the same 🤭

Can we get human wally? And puppet reader
[Sure!]
[I'm going through asks as fast as I can! I know I missed the party!]
-
《Human Au》
Wally hums along to the music playing from the old stereo his gramps' had pulled out from storage. Idly gazing at the strangers and a few of the neighbors going through the boxes.
"Wally my boy! Do you mind getting out a couple of other boxes! I left them in attic!" His grandpa calls out, helping one of the customers move a item to their truck.
Wally throws him a thumbs up, heading inside the creaky red home as he heads up the stairs.
Carefully avoiding a few loose boards, Wally's pampador loses itself as he trips over some hidden fabric. The young man scowls at the sight of his lose hair dangling down his face. "I should've used the ultra-hairspray today.." He mumbled sourly, pushing his strands away as he sat up.
Glaring at the rotten fabric that tripped him, but paused when giving it a closer inspection.
Moving the old thing away, a giant box was placed there. Definitely tucked away from the prying eyes of anyone coming up to the attic, no longer though. Now that Wally discovered it.
Pulling the tape and flapes away, Wally couldn't belive what he saw!
A puppet!?
Hesitantly pulling it out to take a closer look, his heart became mush when gazing at the felt friend lost to time. Not noticing the bright red marker words saying "1979. Don't Remember." Scribbled on the sides of where you came from.
"Look at you, your color scheme, design, even your hair! Aren't you just darling~!" The young man laughed, wiping a bit of soot and dust off the puppet's clothes.
"WALLY! WALLY DARLING! YOU ALMOST DONE UP THERE!"
The blue-nette, startled by his grandmother's wail, he drops your cotton stuffed form back in the box. Quickly giving you a apologetic glance as he calls back down, saying he was fine. Swiping close to his cardigan as he glances over at the box you came from.
He'll look at later, he silently promises. Hiding your puppet-y self away in his guest room as he comes back down stairs. Completely forgetting what he needed to get from the attic.
-
[Dun dun! I wanted to go for a classic 70s horror movie vibe! Did I nail it? Comments, reblogs, hearts, are super, and always appreciated! Thanks u!]

Steve Rogers x Fashion Designer!Reader
Part One: Yield Strength (see series)
Summary: Steve gets to meet his favorite designer, and you get a surprise visitor at work.
Warnings: none. Maybe a bit of creepy behavior but not from Steve. Yes, I did just want to use the leather jacket gif for shiggles. What's it to ya? WC 3355
Tumblr media
Steve Rogers hates stuffy functions. He hates the brown-nosing. He hates trying to convince people who have everything to give scraps to people with nothing. He hates watching the excess and indulgence, even when he knows it ends up giving something to those in need. He hates it. He hates the whole lot of these stupid, asinine—
Steve takes a breath and smooths his hand down the buttery fabric of a double-breasted jacket hanging next to his intended garment.
Ok, fine, he hates the functions, but he actually enjoys the dressing up part.
He didn’t used to. No. The only outfit outside of his Cap suit that ever truly fit him—before or after the serum—was his SSR uniform, and coming from a time of nothing, Steve accepted that as a huge win.
And then he woke up in this world of excess and—what do they call it? Fast-fashion?— realized that what should be easier to acquire was much, much harder to find: room to breathe.
Steve may roll his eyes at Tony’s custom everything, but he admits internally that at least Stark’s comfortable all the time. Steve would settle for being comfortable in his own skin.
This helps though, this gloriously draped, stiff in a supportive way, heavy in a grounding way, and shapely button down. He doesn’t need a whole suit tonight; it’s not that kind of event. In fact, Steve wasn’t specifically invited. He heard Tony talking about the new collection by the designer of this shirt—which happens to be the label for 90% of Steve’s dressier clothing at this point—and Steve outright volunteered himself to go with Tony.
See, Steve Rogers is now a big, broad guy, and it’s been an adjustment, as well as plain difficult, to gather a wardrobe that isn’t custom tailored due to his sheer size and proportions. The team jokes about his tight shirts, but if he buys things large enough for his shoulders, his waist swims in fabric. Steve had to live off of stretchy clothing for the first three years he was out of the ice. He wasn’t out of his Cap suit long enough for the investment to be worthwhile. Then it took another several years before he discovered Tovarich.
The man must know what it’s like to be big and broad, that’s for sure. Steve may not be much for high fashion, but he’s genuinely gotten so much comfort and enjoyment out of Mr. Tovarich’s work that Steve wants to thank him personally. For once, being Captain America is a good card to play to ensure he gets to meet the designer.
Steve adjusts his rolled sleeves a bit in the mirror, smirking at himself for being a bit of a dandy concerning his look right now, but he’s determined to have a good time out with Tony. It’s just a fashion show. How difficult can it be?
Tumblr media
Really damn difficult, that’s what it is.
Steve isn’t prepared for the bizarre press interest in who is there instead of what is being shown. He’s used to cameras flashing at him—especially because the bright and loud pops of flashes were much worse in the ‘40s—but Steve’s in awe of the models’ complete indifference while walking a straight line with a straight face in some of the simplest, most magnificent men’s wear he’s ever seen.
If all he had to do was tick boxes on a list to order things, Steve would be in big trouble with a full bingo card and an empty wallet. It’d be worth it though.
Tony tries to talk to him every so often, but the music is outrageously loud. Steve can’t hear a thing.
He gets tapped on the shoulder by some women sitting behind him, and they try to say some more things he can’t hear.
Everyone rises to clap, and Steve joins in, overwhelmed by the fast pace of all the outfits on repeat, when the man on his other side accidentally elbows Steve and drops his program. The paper flutters to land in front of Tony’s feet, so Steve picks it up, hands it back, and the man makes an appreciative face before gesturing vaguely at the runway and mouthing his admiration. Steve nods and smiles, happy he’s not the only one fanboying over clothes.
The lights change in the venue. The photography and clapping stop. Tony starts yammering on about an after party, but Steve wants to meet the designer.
“Oh, Cap, that walk-and-wave was as close as you’re getting today. Tovarich is a hot commodity. I’ll just get you a fitting sometime.” He clamps a hand onto Steve’s shoulder and tilts his head toward the refreshments. “Shall we?”
Darn. Steve should have done more research on how fashion shows work, but he hates how invasive online snooping feels. It was fine when he was catching up on history and historical figures. However, most of the ‘news’ now is not news at all, so he avoids searching for information that way. He doesn’t ask question about Mr. Tovarich because, in theory, it’s none of Steve’s business and Steve may or may not be slightly ashamed at how obsessed he is with something as trivial as clothing.
Fashion is not something he thought about until very, very recently. The most time he’s spent worried about what he puts on is his tac suit, and the main features of that are being blade resistant and bullet proof. Those things don’t exactly interest him so much as they are in his best interest.
So Steve is rather disappointed by the outcome of the evening, but he’ll manage. For once, he’s got a tiny bright light of something to look forward to in the form of a few more dress shirts and a very sharp vest.
He goes on with life as usual.
Tumblr media
Months later and they’re doing this thing.
It’s called the Hellfire Gala, and apparently, it’s a big, big deal. Steve’s told everyone goes all out, that he’ll need to be dressed to the nines, and he realizes this is his opportunity.
Tony’s elated to make the arrangements for him with the Tovarich Atélier and plans to go with him. He wouldn’t stop grumbling about how awkward Steve might be, raving that he can’t have Steve getting a bad rap under his clout, so Steve shows up nervous.
Tony sends a text saying he’s running late. Of course he is, today of all days.
Steve shuts his eyes and lowers his head in gratitude that there are only two seamstresses when he first arrives. The ladies—one older and one younger—offer refreshments and ask a few questions about the event and what styles he might be interested in. He explains the getup needs to highlight the ‘Cap’ persona since the gala is a celebration of their work as Avengers, but other than that, it’s the-sky’s-the-limit for Tovarich.
The younger seamstress smiles at that and calls it ‘fun.’
Sure. That’s one word for it. Steve would also call it daunting.
As instructed, he stands on a small platform while the ladies bustle about speaking quietly to each other. Steve hears Tony ring the reception bell before any measurements have started, and he heaves out a sigh of relief.
“In time for the good stuff, am I?” Stark winks.
“Always perfectly welcome, Mr. Stark,” you, the younger woman, say politely. “Would you care for anything to drink?”
“Uh,” Tony smooths his hand down his current suit front, eyes flickering to Steve, “have you met me?”
Your smile widens. “Dominica, please,” you signal to your coworker.
Between your fingers, you’ve folded a scrap of paper, something you scribbled while Steve stood awkwardly on the pedestal (which isn’t to say he has stopped standing awkwardly), and Tony snatches the paper from your grasp, unfolding it to make a challenging, inquisitive face.
Steve huffs and glares, praying his friend doesn’t start hitting on Tovarich’s employee before the man even shows up. Steve isn’t the one to be worried about.
Stark takes Dominica’s proffered tumbler of brown liquor, saying nothing.
You are a ninja with the tape measure, gentle hands sliding over his chest and waist and—Steve swallows—his hips, all while rattling off numbers…which no one writes down. Steve moves his arms and legs when told. When you’re kneeling on the edge of the platform, eye level with his crotch, Steve decides to distract himself and get some answers.
“I’ve been looking forward to my first meeting with Mr. Tovarich. When might he arrive?”
Tony clears his throat, wincing. “Not possible, buddy.”
Steve tenses.
“I thought that—“
“You can’t meet him for the the first time.” Tony holds up a hand before Steve can move. “You already did. She’s measuring the distance between your balls and the floor.”
Steve startles out a ‘what,’ snapping his legs shut with your hand between his thighs.
“Captain Steve Rogers, please meet your favorite designer,” Tony beams, shoving his tongue against the inside of his cheek and hiking up his eyebrows.
Steve shrinks, face burning.
“Hello, Captain Rogers,” you introduce yourself with a lovely smile, “I will…need my hand to make your suit, sir.”
His open-mouthed impression of a fish is cut short by standing at attention, releasing the seal of his thighs. “Yes, ma’am. Sorry.”
“Very polite,” you mutter before turning to Tony. “Mr. Stark, was that entirely necessary?”
“For the look alone, yes. My god, I’ll pay you again just to watch now that he knows.”
You push off the platform and practically skip over to Tony, reading over his shoulder. “How did I do?”
Tony looks at the piece of paper. “Damn it. Spot on,” Tony grunts.
“And that means…?”
“That I leave you alone for the rest of the consult,” Tony whines. “Fine, but make it worth it, buddy. Lady gets paid by the hour.” He snaps his fingers playfully. “Dominica, let’s take room two, my dear.”
Steve’s not sure what to do with his hands and mistakenly remains up high on the pedestal while you pull out a notebook and sit at a small table.
“Oh!” You look up at him with tender, lively eyes. “You may step down now.”
He feet seem to thunder to the floor even against the carpet. “I didn’t mean to—I just assumed that—I’m sorry, Misses—”
“It’s Miss,” you correct him. “And don’t worry. You are not the first, and you won’t be the last. Have a seat, Captain.”
“Steve.”
“Steve,” you correct yourself this time. “I’ll tell you a secret. I prefer that most people assume a man runs this business. You get to see people’s true colors when they finally find out.”
That doesn’t help Steve’s hot flush of embarrassment.
“You are one of the good ones. I can tell,” you add, adjusting to a fresh page in the notebook and marking the top corner.
In the silence Steve asks, “so you already knew my size?”
“You aren’t so different from my standard cut.”
“No,” he allows. Of course, he should have known that seeing as everything he buys from your label fits him so well. He kicks himself internally while trying not to frown at his slip up. It is, however, easy to keep a smile while basking in the glow of yours.
You pop your shoulder up into a shrug, lips morphing into a wry tease. “And I’m pretty good at what I do.”
Amazing, Steve thinks to himself. You’re amazing…at what you do.
Your elbow rests against the table, hand cupping your jaw as you hold Steve’s gaze.
“Some even call me a master of the male form.”
His swallow is deafening, which only makes you happier, and he looks down at his knee, rubbing his pant leg while his face heats.
“But for today’s purposes—“ you lean back in your chair, twirling your pencil playfully, a magic wand in your brilliant hands “—why don’t you tell me what makes me your favorite designer so I can make you my favorite client?”
Tumblr media
Why’d you have to be so pretty? Why do you need him for so few fittings?
Steve has to stop himself from spending a Tony Stark-sized fortune on clothing for the pleasure of walking into your store and seeing you alone—well, in the hope of seeing you at all. Dominica is very sweet, sassy in a hard ass mom kind of way, and she’s one of four total assistants you have at the shop. Steve’s met three of them.
There’s just only one of you, and you’re busy.
Between his duties with the Avengers, actually sleeping, and debating with himself about what constitutes looking desperate, Steve is lucky to have caught you in-house only half the times he visits.
And then he tore a shirt. In fact, he tore three shirts, and to his credit, two of them were by accident. The third…uh, there’s a chance that when Steve exclaimed “oh shoot, I didn’t see that nail poking out” that he 100% saw that nail and deliberately brushed himself against that wall. He also may or may not have deliberately done it in front of Tony, faking that it was no big deal, because now he has the excuse that Tony is the one who told him to go see you.
Yeah, Steve agrees, if you say so.
He’s all excitement and nerves again when he rounds the corner of your street, but then the adrenaline shoots through Steve’s veins for a different reason.
A squad car has jumped the curb in front of your shop, lights flashing, doors left open, and Steve can hear lots of tense voices.
Tumblr media
It’s a stressful enough day without the uninvited guest. Not many people—who know how you work and are not assholes—would dare to show up within a month of the Spring Show, without an appointment, and demand a rush job.
A rush job on a custom suit that you explicitly said could not be rushed before its scheduled time, mind you, but the surprise visitor doesn’t care.
Richard Fisk is broad. He has dirty blond hair that falls in front of his eyes when he tilts his head to smile. He often travels with a whole team of other imposing men.
The son of Wilson ‘Kingpin’ Fisk, however, is a prime example of personality souring good looks. Where it’s bashful and adorable that Steve Rogers hides his smile, Richard barely bridles his menacing entitlement.
You hate him, but he’s not a person you can outright refuse. He makes all of your assistants uncomfortable. Fisk is needlessly hostile to Tarik, who is thankfully not here today; he’s a creepy dick to Abby, who you insist stays in the fitting room with Anja, your longtime client who trusts you to push the envelope tastefully for a redheaded woman in her sixties; and he almost made Jules quit because he couldn’t follow instructions during a consult. Dominica stands in as the perfect buffer when she’s here, but the eldest of the Tovarich Atélier employees is currently on the other side of the city for a VIP delivery.
Your busy, busy day just got much harder.
His trio of beefy entourage flanks Fisk at the front of your shop.
“Here for my suit, sugar,” he drawls, flicking his used toothpick into a corner on the floor.
He eyes Abby as she shuts herself and Anja away from his direct ire, and although this leaves you alone, it stops your worry for their safety in addition to your own.
“As it stipulates in the commission, we take at least—“
“Those little hands are free now, I see,” he spits, stepping within an few inches of your face. His breath is foul and hot.
The aggression has you stumbling back, smashing into a side table and knocking a box of supplies to the ground.
“How ‘bout you get to work.”
You take in a heavy, fortifying, and quiet gasp. “Per your order, the fabric is manufactured off-site because teal is not a standard color. It takes time to produce. This was made very clear when you signed.”
Fisk flashes that menacing smile. “We can wait. One of these fine men can…keep you focused till you do your job.”
The condescending tone and disrespect of your work ethic spark flames of rage in your gut. Even though terror still simmers beneath, it’s too easy to let an insult fly.
“You’re lucky I’m even making it. The all white one last summer was a stretch, but teal? On you? Not something you can pull off.”
He lunges forward again. “Keep up the cheek, and I’ll lock you in my basement until I get everything I—“
“Ma’am,” a cop bursts through the shop door, “we got a call…” The officer goes quiet after one look at Fisk.
Abby must have phoned after hearing you knock supplies down, and you’re grateful, yes, but police are of little help with this guy. Cops wouldn’t dare ruffle Kingpin’s feathers or his awful son’s by proxy, but if you roll over now, you’ll never get back out from under him.
The only way forward is to put your foot down.
“Mr. Fisk, I wouldn’t make you a black and white striped three-piece if you did chain me in a basement. You’re a spring, and I have standards.”
“Ma’am,” the officer warns, his partner standing nervously in the open doorway.
“What kind of professional would I be if I let you walk around looking like a mental asylum inmate? I’m doing you a favor!”
Richard brandishes another toothpick. “The customer is always right, sugar.”
It’s stupid. You know it’s stupid to taunt him and yell. Being insulted and diminished doesn’t make you want to be smart though; it makes you want to be right.
Your hands ball into fists of fear and rage. “It’s my name on the label,” you bark, “and I could just refund you to get you the hell out!”
Now you’ve really done it.
The boy gangster’s face twists and his oral fixation goes limp in disbelief. No one talks to Richard Fisk that way, least of all women.
His men step between both the cops and their boss, leaving Fisk himself to grab a solid wood tie box from the nearest counter and fling it at your face.
Your arms fly up to block it, but nothing ever connects, nor is there a crash behind you.
An officer’s voice wavers from across the room. “Uh, I’m sure this can all be worked out. No need to…start anything.”
You’re ashamed to say that your hands are shaking when they return to your sides and reveal an entirely different bulky blond.
Steve Rogers casually holds the caught box in his hands, staring daggers as he shifts squarely in front of you to block Fisk.
“This doesn’t concern you, Captain,” the bully grunts. “Piss off.”
Steve strides forward to replace the box neatly and plants himself inches from Fisk’s face.
“Can’t do that. She’s expecting me.” He turns back to you. “Ready?” Steve asks with a tight smile.
You swallow down one iota of your alarm and clear your throat.
“Yes—” the word cracks but you hope familiarity will scare off Fisk for now “—thank you, Steve.”
That seems to be Captain America’s cue to handle everyone else at odds in the storefront. By the time you get control of your trembling limbs, Steve has shown Fisk the door and promised the officers that you’ll be looked after.
Abby peeks out of the fitting room, surprised to see only Steve.
“Did they send you instead?”
She opens the door wider for Anja to see.
The redhead quirks an eyebrow. “Call the police more often, honey. They’ve upped their game.”
The now bashful, broad blond tilts his head, rogue hair falling across his face. His blue eyes sparkle beneath long lashes while he apologizes for lying, but you can’t for the life of you figure out why he’d feel guilty.
“I…” Steve stumbles. “I don’t have an appointment. I just wanted to see you.”

gwen stacy ★ general headcanons
Tumblr media
content/warnings: mentions of underage drinking, implied & mentions of death
a/n: hey 😁 a levels beating my arse. thx 2 @qiupachups 4 helping w these 🫡 give it up for gwendy ‼️ (unedited)
Gwen is a collector — but not of collectibles. She has a secret empire of the most random things, and is thoroughly embarrassed when anyone finds it: tickets, pins, soda can tabs, cool-looking clothing tags, mismatched hair clips, paper clips, little things stolen from school, etc. Anything she things is remotely interesting has a place in a very specifically organised box under her bed, tucked away from the world and taken out occasionally to be adjusted or stared at. It's essentially the same as being a collector, right...?
She had a fashion hobby she grew out of, but it re-kindles when she has to design a suit for herself. Initially, it's made up of thermal sportswear but she comes up with actual designs at some point, modifying it overtime to include the hood and to integrate it with her ballet slippers.
When it comes to art, Gwen's style would be a lot like a fashion student's. I headcanon her to have aphantasia so her main strength is drawing clothing, and a lot of her drawings are based on herself as a reference (she can literally only draw herself well...) Rather than a sketchbook, she has a journal that's also full of photographs and writing as well as her drawings, and the occasional crumpled up drum score.
Has a knack for sewing and customises some of her clothes, though it's more personal touches and the occasional crop rather than completely overhauling a piece of clothing. Everyday items of hers have at least a little embroidery or design on them and she likes doing patterns on like bags and converse for her friends. Wants to make plushies and things but always manages to get distracted so there's a bunch of unfinished projects in her closet. (I would totally buy from her on Etsy though 😁)
Gwen did ballet as a kid and developed the enraging habit of cracking EVERY joint in her body. She's the mf that twists in the chair in front of you and stares deep into your soul while cracking her back. Cracks things you don't even know you could crack without shame my girl is a whole instrument 😭
Ballet is something her dad pushed her towards, alongside music (though he preferred she did something more traditional). Initially Gwen did feel out of place in her classes. A lot of the other children at her classes were already well-versed in it, and a lot of times she found she wanted to quit. Only after learning that her mom Helen did ballet did she willingly pick it up again at an older age, incorporating the technique into her fighting style.
Gwen used to play a few different instruments as a kid but none of them really stuck. For a while, she thought she hated music when she did piano and the recorder, but when she got her hands on a drumkit at her school and a couple lessons, she knew it was the one.
Her drumming is definitely more freestyle, and even though she's good she has a lot of problems with her high energy, spontaneous and emotive style. That means she breaks her drumsticks ALL the time. There's no way she's banging all that out on the drums without an unfortunate snap or two, so she always keeps another pair handy. She's broken her drumsticks so much that there's a collection of them torn up at the bottom of her bag (she never bothers to throw them out, and might've given herself a splinter reaching in to find something 💀)
Speaking of drumsticks, she has one lucky pair she uses for important performances, carrying them practically everywhere. They've essentially rotted in their fancy little fabric case since she'd gottem them, the custom "GWENDOLYN MAXINE STACY" imprinted on it having almost completely eroded away.
Though, she's only ever used them once; her dad had bought them for her for a school performance, which she had to bail last minute when her Spider-sense suddenly activated. Running off to fight a villain not a street away, Peter Parker follows her, and he realises just who Spider-Woman really is.
While she was planning to use them at her prom performance with her band... that never happened. After that, everything reminded her of that night, and her relationship with The Mary Janes dwindled until she quit altogether. The band only lasted a few months prior, and since they never got to perform at prom, Gwen found herself playing for no reason at all, other than to get rid of her pent-up energy and forget about the fact that she's basically a wanted criminal.
When she's living in Hobie's universe, she ends up breaking her "lucky" drumsticks and is, understandably, a little shattered by it, but Hobie gets her another pair, "GWENDY" written in mismatched letters on the side. That "G" was definitely a last-minute addition, though. He also teaches her how to stop breaking them so often. "Bit of advice — use the wrists, not just the arms."
Gwen's definitely not meant to drink, so whenever Hobie goes to the pub he makes sure not to, suggesting his friends don't get pissed out of their minds either (though she might steal a sip of something fruity now and again.)
Hobie takes her to gigs all the time, and sometimes she drums for his ones. The first time she does it, she's nervous of course, but her sound immediately gets the crowd going and it's the talk of the town for a week straight (and her drumsticks didn't break!)
There's no shortage of junk food, of course. Just like all the takeout she'd have back at home, Hobie would make sure to take her around all the local spots. Although it's not exactly the same, anything beats the plasticky cafeteria food in 2099. Stopping for a kebab or two in the middle of anomaly-hunting isn't really against the rules anyway.
Gwen is friendly with pretty much everyone in the Spider-society because everyone knows who "Gwen Stacy" is, but she never really wants to meet another version of herself (given how unsettling it is with context). Also very awkward around any MJs — or Peters. Peter B essentially being an older 65!Peter definitely freaks her out a little at first.
Misses Miles, obviously, and probably had something she wanted to make for him back in her universe that she could never retrieve. Maybe when she gets Hobie's watch she'll bring it along with her — would Miles like a knitted neckwarmer?
SO best friends with Margo. Her tech lets Gwen see into her universe sometimes (Miguel wouldn't let her 😞) and Margo is super keen on learning about her universe. They both hang out with Peni and it's a fun little girl trio (Peni totally takes them to her universe to see all the giant mechs 😁 "Girls night!" BOOM!)
Number 1 girlfail. She hasn't broken those new drumsticks yet! But drumming can wait — and all those projects at the back of her closet, and her unresolved dispute with MJ and the band, and her dad at home. Going from her small world to having an entire multiverse against her and her friends, Gwen's got one hell of a show to put on, right?
“I never found the right band to join, so I started my own, with a few old friends.”
“You want in?”

The Dancer
Hello!! This is my submission for Prinxiety Shipweek's prompt: Music.
Summary: Virgil is the small (like– 5'' tall) 16-year-old son of a woodcarver who crafts him a little dancer friend out of special wood he got from one of their regular clients. Imagine Virgil’s shock when the figure, his size, comes to life in the nighttime. (note: Fairy Tale-ish AU!)
WC: ~4.8k || It's on AO3!
@prinxietyweek !
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Music
Virgil stepped down and wandered out of his space in the walls onto his dad’s desk, trying to get a peek at the man’s latest project.
Patton was extremely skilled at his craft, to the point he was renowned in all the land for his detailed, “impossible” works. He had learned from a great teacher and put in the work to always remember the lessons. It wasn't a miraculous talent he was born with, but a skill he cultivated. He liked to say he gave a piece of something he loved to all his precious creations.
Virgil didn’t think much of it, but he was lucky. His dad often made everything he needed from scratch or tinkered out of something he thought would be useful, and it always surprised him how crafty and resourceful his dad was even when he wasn’t carving oak and cedar.
Right now, Patton was bent in a way that surely would hurt when he finally got up, intently focused on his latest secret project that had captured Virgil’s nosey attentions entirely. It wasn’t near his birthday; that had passed a few months ago and he had gotten a new Violin (and it was incredible how good it managed to sound. Even better than the first model Virgil had learned to play with).
But Patton had been hiding this from him for weeks, and it was driving Virgil crazy. As it was, Patton knew where all his perches for looking out at the shop and people watching were, and had been very good at keeping the new…whatever it was out of sight.
Virgil had caught glimpses: Patton had chosen a rather expensive-looking hardwood that Virgil didn’t even recognize as any used before, which meant it either was for a top-paying commissioner or one of Patton’s major passion projects that would require a lot of detailing. He’d also ordered an odd mechanical base from Logan: the clockmaker several shops over who he often collaborated with. Having a custom part or apparatus from him wasn’t unusual, but the secrecy had Virgil more invested than he’d otherwise be.
He tried to interrogate Logan from the counter when he’d dropped the boxed mystery device off a few days ago, but the man had simply smiled and told him to be patient and he’d surely get to see it soon. Virgil did not like that answer. It only kept him awake at night and more curious.
Virgil peeked out from Patton’s old design books on the desk, trying to see what his dad’s arm was blocking. There were interesting scraps of sparkly and sheer fabric littering the table and he could at least see that Patton was holding a paintbrush in his left hand, tongue out in concentration.
As Virgil tried to see, however, Patton cracked a knowing smile. “Heya, kiddo. Can’t help but want to peek, hmm?” Virgil ducked back behind the books guiltily before shuffling out at being caught. Patton set the brush down. “Well, it’s alright. I was actually just finishing the detail on this, he’s nearly done. I was going to introduce you at breakfast, but I think now is much more interesting.”
Virgil gave his dad a confused look. “‘He’?”
Patton just grinned and told him to turn around for a moment which Virgil complied and did. Whatever just to get to finally see this…whatever it was Patton had created.
Virgil heard Patton shuffling and setting things down, then the light tap tap tap of his small mallet.
Something was set down again, closer behind Virgil and Patton finally let him turn to see.
Patton held an ornate little red box in the moonlight coming in from the window behind them. On top, poised gracefully on one pointed foot  was a figure of a beautiful dancer, with chestnut brown hair in waves that looked more soft than carved and a just as soft smile on a kind face. He looked similar to the dancer in the ballet Patton had taken him to last winter, in a shimmering long-sleeved shirt and embroidered gold vest.
The figure in his hand was posed in a dance, as if captured right as he reached out his hand to a partner, waiting. His other leg was carefully positioned behind him, pointed rigidly. If not for his base, he’d probably be close to Virgil’s height. Virgil looked at the creation as he circled it in awe. Patton sat back and wiped the polish and paint from his hands, chuckling proudly. “So, whatcha think, Virgie? He’s pretty nice, yeah?” Virgil’s eyes were wide as he looked back at Patton, near sparkling. “How did you even make this?? It’s so– I’ve never seen you make anything this elaborate before.”
“Well, I was gifted a very rare and simply elegant block of wood from one of our regular clients, Sir Fraus. He says he got it during his travels but didn’t say what kind it was. Only that it was in thanks and that he thought I’d know what to make with something this rare. So, I figured that I should make something just as special. I'm excited to show him the next time he stops by. He’s got joints to be posable and everything– and just wait until you see this.” Patton reached into his apron pocket and pulled out a small gold key. Virgil watched, walking around to see as Patton stuck the small key into the back of the box and it clicked in. He turned it a few times, winding it up and then let go. The dancer began to slowly spin on his toe, the metal base he was attached to rotating.
Virgil watched as the shimmery sleeves of his outfit caught the moonlight, unable to look away. Patton smiled, also admiring the dancer spun, dancing to an unheard tune as his arm that wasn’t poised moved up and down as he spun.
“I’m only a bit disappointed I couldn’t add music to the box, but Logan didn’t have a comb the right size or the cylinder for the song I was hoping for anyway. Perhaps one day I can get one custom-made.” Virgil tilted his head as he watched, sitting next to Patton to watch as the figure slowed to a stop, arm down in rest again.
“Did you…name him?” Virgil asked as Patton reached around his son to wind it up again.
“You know, it’s funny you mention that. I went to the nice woman who sells fabrics from her home in The Den– you know, that little shop district across town? She made the costumes for the play we saw. Anyway, I was explaining to her what I needed and asked for any outfit suggestions and somehow we got onto the topic of names being important for creations like this. She gave me a few, but I ended up liking one the most: ‘Roman’. What do you think?”
Virgil had to admit that was very fitting for the regal dancer. He liked it. “Roman,” he repeated, nodding in approval with a tiny smile he hid in his arm as they watched him spin again. “Suits him.” “I’d say his clothing suits him too.” Patton grinned and Virgil groaned, laying his head in his arms. “Baaad, that one was awful.”
Patton laughed, ruffling Virgil’s hair with a fingertip and a wide smile.
“Hahaha, I bet Roman likes my puns!”
Virgil made a noise of doubt as Patton turned and looked at his colorful clock on the wall. “Ah, I stayed up far later than I meant to. You’re welcome to stay out here if you want, but I gotta get to bed. Early day tomorrow, as usual.” he hummed, standing. Virgil watched him and gave Patton’s hand a brief hug when it swept up to ‘hug’ him goodnight. “Don’t stay up too late, Virge.”
Virgil gave Patton a vague wave of his hand in acknowledgment, not taking his eyes off the dancer.
Patton made sure the shop was locked up and then left to his room in their home above the shop.
Virgil sat alone, going back to wind the box when it stopped. He really did think it’d be nice to see Roman dance to music. And then he realized that it was something he could provide.
Virgil got up and ran off to his room in the walls. There was his little workshop space Patton had carved out and covered for his privacy, with a little balcony, but he ended up having to go all the way back up to his bedroom adjacent to Patton’s. He could see Patton brushing his teeth out of his balcony but didn’t stop to chat as he grabbed his black violin case from the corner by his shelf bed. Then he was immediately headed back down. He jogged out onto the worktable again, his instrument case already open as he set it down.
Virgil spun the key as far as he could, which was admittedly difficult after 5 turns, but he used all his strength to get the coil as tight as he could. Then he picked up the violet violin and started to play the first song that his hands picked: one that he’d learned by ear from the record Patton liked to play in the shop the most.
They’d heard this one at the ballet and it felt fitting for the dancer still diligently posed on one foot.
The pretty tune filled the air around him and Virgil smiled as it looked like the dancer was moving to it with the one arm that shifted as he spun. He could almost imagine he really was playing musician for this dancer, Roman. His vest twinkled in the gentle moonlight, and it was mesmerizing as it created a shimmer around him. Virgil was so lost in the music and gazing at the stunning figure that he did not notice the soft click of the key stopping.
He finished the song out, the lilting drawn-out end fading gradually, and the dancer stopped turning with his arm down in rest. Virgil was smiling, proud, and a bit sheepish that he’d even done it. But it was nice.
And then the carve dancer blinked, and Virgil gasped, nearly dropping his violin. He froze, staring as the dancer’s pretty dark eyes seemed to focus on him. Then it moved again, head tilted curiously. Virgil dove behind the toolkit holding Patton’s chisels, the nearest thing.
Virgil stared in awe as the figure twisted around curiously, gazing around the shop and tentatively looking over to where Virgil hid. He tried to get down, stumbling as he pulled his foot free and nearly fell off the box entirely, much to Virgil’s anxiety spike as he gasped. Thankfully he caught himself on the edge with his hands and was able to carefully sit and hop down.
The figure was alive…alive?! Enchanted?? He didn’t think Patton knew that, surely! He would have shown him– or at least mentioned it so that his anxious son wouldn’t freak out. Was he even awake right now? The wooden man danced a little about the table, wobbly for a few steps before getting used to moving rather quickly and happy about it.
That was a wooden person smiling over at him. Virgil scrambled back, startled. “How—how are you moving right now?! My dad carved you out of a hunk of wood!!”
The possibly possessed wooden figure blinked at him— despite Patton having never created eyelids with which to do so— hands clasping in front of himself as he stood and appeared to be listening, and even just standing there he looked like he was posed perfectly to begin dancing.
Virgil was a little unnerved that he just kept staring but his eyes were curious rather than judging or belittling like a lot of people’s tended to be when meeting him. Though their being nearly the same tiny height probably made that observation moot.
And he was the first person Roman(?) had properly met.
Virgil didn’t know what he was waiting for but the other suddenly spared him from needing to figure it out by hurrying off to some unknown goal.
Virgil jolted at the sudden movement, scrambling up to see where the man—figure— Roman was going.
Roman popped out from behind the bookend, nearly giving Virgil a heart attack. Though before Virgil could properly decide if he was running for the wall door, Roman held up what he’d retrieved, out to Virgil with an eager look.
He had Virgil’s violin and bow, carefully held out in offering. Virgil blinked dumbly as he slowly took it.
Roman bounced on the balls of his feet a little before splaying his arms out, standing on the tips of his toes again. He was looking expectantly at Virgil and the nervous teen clutched the instrument as he realized.
Virgil lifted the violin to tuck under his chin, mind reeling for what to play. He watched Roman stand straighter still and send a dashing smile his way, and suddenly Virgil found it easier just to let the melody that felt right flow. They both anticipated the start of the music as Virgil played the first clear note. His hands did the rest on their own, skillfully guiding the bow along the strings.
And Roman…Virgil had no idea how he knew to dance in such a way. He danced like a man finally free of rigid demands, and it was more enchanting than the beautifully poised expectation of the dancer frozen in place on a spinning point. Despite the freedom to move, Roman seemed to enjoy the little fast turns and twirls, and he spotted Virgil to keep from growing dizzy. It was impressive and alluring, the thin ruffly tule at the bottom of his shirt waving around his waist even as he stopped, catching himself gracefully with a flourish.
This was a man unrestricted, flowing in sync to the timeless music like he’d practiced it a hundred times and now had his opening night performance. His vest glittered stunningly as he moved with more grace and freedom than a person made of wood should have been able to. But it was natural for him. Roman moved across the table elegantly, the resonating sounds working with him as he reached toward the streaming moonlight like it was where their unseen audience might be. Then he was stretching into a near bow as he stepped back, going into tight spins as he twirled away, arms tucked in.
Virgil was in awe, turning to keep the dancer in sight as he played his violin for him. Roman beamed in his exuberance for just a moment before tamping the pure joy to focus again. The smile never fully left.
The dance and song sped up in tandem, and Roman swept around Virgil close enough to reach out and take his hand. Virgil was captivated and almost stuttered to a stop as Roman used his shoulder as a support, hand barely applying weight as Roman leaned in with dazzling bright eyes. It was a long gaze and yet just as quickly as he’d appeared at Virgil’s side, Roman was flitting away as if carried off by the drifting tune as the song peaked.
As the song finished, both Roman and Virgil stepped into their final poses, Roman’s not dissimilar to the one he took on the stand, with pointed feet and one arm curved high above his head. Both seemed breathless in their own way, watching one another as they stood still, just taking it in. Virgil moved first, lowering his arms and letting a little grin spread on his face despite himself. “That was amazing!! How do you know how to dance??? It’s like you just knew??” Roman let himself down from the pose, the bright smile back as he padded over to Virgil. He laid his hands over Virgil’s bow hand and bounced happily, trying to convey his own excitement. Up close, Virgil could definitely still see the wooden body that made up the dancer, and the little joints that allowed him to pose freely were visible through his sheer long sleeves. Virgil held his violin to his chest, looking at him in wonder. “Incredible…so..you’re Roman, right? Is that actually your name?” Roman tilted his head and then nodded happily.
“Really? Because I doubt my dad’s just guessed that out of the thousands of names, right?”
Roman pointed to the stairs that led up to the living area of their home then back at himself. Virgil looked a little confused. “I’m guessing you can’t talk, since…no voice box?”
Roman stilled a bit but nodded once more, unbothered by this but acknowledging it.
“Oh…well, it’s nice to meet you, Roman. You’re an incredible dancer,” he stated, looking away sheepishly and couldn’t believe he was embarrassed right now to be talking to a magical doll person.
Roman perked up at that though and insistently tapped Virgil’s hand, nodding hard as he pointed at Virgil. He clapped happily and Virgil’s face flushed. “I-I’m still learning, but thank–thank you– do you– uh, need to rest? Sit down?”
Roman shrugged but tugged Virgil’s hand as he walked to sit down by the red box he belonged to. Virgil went willingly, sitting beside Roman who tucked his legs to the side, probably limited in how he could move this way.
They were able to see the moon and stars through the window across the room.
“Are you cursed?” Virgil suddenly asked without thinking and winced as soon as it left his mouth.
He glanced at Roman, who very much seemed to be chuckling at him, even as no sound came out. Ro shook his head. Virgil relaxed a little.
“Oh, good– so just a magical creation? Are you…aware…of things? Like when you were frozen earlier?”
Roman looked thoughtful, then reached around Virgil to point at the key in the box.
Virgil tried very hard not to blush at the closeness as Roman peered at him and then the key insistently.
“T-The key? Okay, you–you know about the key??”
Roman frowned, then mimed turning it and dramatically opening his eyes. He pointed to his ears and the violin. Virgil’s tired mind raced.
“...you– you’re aware when your key is turned? The music does it? O-Or, like– you can see and hear and things…?” he tried.
Roman smiled and pulled away, nodding. Virgil wasn’t sure exactly what he got right, but he was pretty sure Roman could see and hear whenever the key was turned. He started to worry. “And when the key isn’t turned?? You aren’t–aware of that too, right?” Roman put out his hands and shook his head gently. He seemed to search for the right thing to attempt to communicate before he mimicked sleeping.
Virgil relaxed as he seemed to finally understand. “Oh. Okay, it’s like you’re not awake, then? …How do you even know what sleeping is.”
Roman just smiled and shrugged, but the look he was giving him led Virgil to think that was not all.
Virgil talked for what became hours with Roman. He ended up showing him around the shop using his bridges and walkways along the walls, holding his hand as they went. Roman seemed perfectly happy to listen, and he’d point and get Virgil’s attention when he wanted to know what something was.
Virgil played him another song when Roman silently requested such. He had no idea how the night was over so soon. They were back on Patton’s worktable and Roman was standing by his box, trying to convey to Virgil that he had to go back.
Virgil was disheartened as he watched. “Can I see you again soon? I’m sure Dad would love to meet you, and maybe then you won’t have to go back on that thing.”
Roman turned back to Virgil, interest peaked. He gave Virgil a soft look and hugged him, gentle and earnest as he tried to convey what he felt. Virgil was very still as he cautiously settled his arms around Roman’s back.
Roman pulled away too soon, and Virgil let him go. Virgil watched as he settled his foot back on the support, and posed as he had been, confident and with a professional ease. Virgil didn’t know for certain when, but between one blink and the next, Roman was once again just a figure on the musicless box.
He would figure out what he had to do to see him again.
—-
The next morning, Virgil tried to show Patton when he woke up. He played part of a song from Swan Lake and watched, but Roman did not shift from his spot, much to Virgil’s confusion. Patton enjoyed his son playing, though seemed a little confused about what he was supposed to see. “That was lovely, kiddo! It really is lovely to watch him spin to music.”
But Virgil just sighed, shaking his head. “No, he– last night– he was dancing! To my music, and smiling, and…and…” his face grew hotter as Patton was smiling at him, hands clasped and Virgil quickly looked away.
“I’m really happy you like him, Virgie! Maybe it’s a good thing we never found the music for his box. You playing whatever you want is a wonderful idea.”
Virgil was dejected. Did it only happen once? Had he truly dreamed it? No, he had seen it, felt Roman’s cool hand in his. Was he shy to come out in front of his dad? But Roman had seemed genuinely eager to say hello when Virgil mentioned them meeting. Maybe it was just conditional? Roman wouldn’t likely know– he’d just been just as surprised as Virgil when it had happened the first time.
He brainstormed about this in his room most of the day, coming out occasionally to help Patton around the shop– he was very good at moving small things about and getting them for his dad, as well as ringing up customers– and to eat.
That night, Virgil went down to the shop after dinner. Violin in hand, he turned the key fewer times than before and started to play a pretty, upbeat tune. The wooden dancer spun stiffly, but as the song neared its end, the arm became less rigid as it lifted with more grace. The smile etched in place became wider still and Roman shifted, lifting his foot higher then back down as he bowed.
Virgil grinned, stopping as Roman found him on the table nearby and waved. Virgil quickly pulls himself up onto the base. “Roman! You’re still here,” he breathed, and Roman gave him a bright look and eager nod.
Virgil offered his hands. “Here, let me help this time.” Roman gratefully took the help, holding Virgil’s shoulders as he carefully lifted his foot free of the metal stand. Virgil helped and was shocked at how easy it was to lift him for support. He wasn’t as dense as a flesh and blood being, and Virgil didn’t know what to do with the fact that he could easily hold Roman over his head if he wanted to. He let go of his waist before he got any more silly thoughts and hopped down from the box. He offered Roman his hands and Roman took them to get down easily as well, hopping with a grace he apparently always possessed.
It was another night of strolling around the shop and performing for one another as music filled the air. They ended up on the railed windowsill beside the door. Roman somehow made him feel like he was a part of the dance despite Virgil being his musician, dancing captivatingly around him. Even as the song ended, Roman danced in the silence, and the music was in his head as he enticed Virgil to join him. Virgil nervously set his violin down and couldn’t refuse that beautiful smile as Roman took his hands and danced with him.
Virgil honestly felt like it was only Roman’s skill that kept them from tripping over each other. He certainly didn’t know how he’d become the lead in this soundless song that they both knew the steps for. But he twirled Roman easily and guided him into dips that he’d seen dance partners do on the stage. It was relaxed and free of any real form, but they were miraculously in sync together.
He got bolder and confident with the trust Roman put in him, and how had he ever earned that?? He settled his hands at Roman’s waist as the other guided them there and he lifted Roman with little trouble. Roman settled a hand on Virgil’s shoulder as he posed and Virgil turned with him, then let go to raise his arms high, trusting the person supporting him.
When Virgil set Roman back down, Roman was giddy, hands waving at his sides as he jumped and did a little happy dance in place. He threw his arms around Virgil, and that time he really almost did knock him over from the force of the hug. Virgil laughed, letting himself go to the ground as one arm wrapped around Roman. “Yeah–yes, it was fun–”
Roman’s smile couldn’t get much bigger as he tucked against Virgil, happily nudging him and content.
Virgil had never danced with someone in his life; not like this, where their hand wasn’t his platform or partner. Not in a way where he was on equal footing, able to hold them close. They sat there together, catching their breath and gazing out at both the sleeping town and the stars above. Virgil must have nodded off because suddenly the sky was lighter and Roman was shifting next to him.
Virgil sat up straighter as Roman stood, looking back across the shop to the table. To his stand. He looked down at Virgil and offered him a hand, gesturing. Virgil’s at-ease expression changed to one of concern. “You want to go back?”
Roman looked off to the side with a small, sad shrug.
“If you don’t want to, just stay, you don’t have to go back.” Virgil insisted, taking one of Roman’s hands in both of his own.
Roman gave him a gentle smile, free hand held to Virgil’s cheek. He stood on his toes and pressed a kiss to Virgil’s forehead, hoping it said all he needed for him. Virgil held his hand there for as long as he could before Roman began to pull away. Virgil squeezed his hand imploringly.
“W-Wait! What if you just don’t go back onto the box? Then you won’t turn back again, you could stay! I-I’d love if–if you could stay?” he practically pleaded.
Roman turned back slowly to him, holding his hand reassuringly but his expression was apologetic. He looked down at his foot: a simple cloth slipper that covered the wood and the hole to anchor him to his place.
Virgil shook his head. “You don’t have to get back up there! Dad will absolutely understand once he meets you— please. Let’s just try it?”
Roman looked hesitant as he looked over at the growing dawn light filtering through the window. But he nodded obligingly and settled beside Virgil, resting his head lightly against Virgil’s shoulder. Virgil tiredly held his hand and they sat there against the window frame to wait together, though really it was just an excuse to not say goodbye again.
Virgil was not truly surprised when Roman went still and rigid against his side, his hand losing its grip even as Virgil continued to hold it, gently stroking with his thumb. He felt disappointed tears brim for a moment, but he didn’t let them fall. Roman wasn’t gone. Virgil could bring him back in the evening. But it wasn’t fair that he would not get to see a sunrise.
As Patton found him and fretted about whether Virgil had been out here all night (and he didn’t ask why was Roman off the box), Virgil was devising a way to change that. As his dad gently scooped him up and took him upstairs to deposit him into his little bed in the wall, Virgil lay there vowing that he’d find a way to break the spell keeping Roman trapped to the night. He deserved to bask and dance freely in the sheer unreflected light of day.
Virgil would show him all of life he could, beyond the shop and all the music he could dance to to his heart’s content. Virgil wanted to play all his favorite songs for him and to dance with him again. Roman would get to really live, and Virgil was determined to be by his side through it all.

skz as love languages pt2: gift giving
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n: pt 2 yay! :D
summary: skz and how they receive and give gifts
cw/genre: fluff, cursing, not proofread, English is not my first language :)
1k June Special Masterlist here -> ヾ(๑╹◡╹)ノ"
chan
-so fire at gift giving and always gets you the cutest and most personalized gifts
-like he’ll get you something you’ve been wanting for the past decade with a handwritten letter and a cute smile :>
-and no matter what you get him he’ll always be like “omygah for me baby?? thank you!!” and blushing and grabbing you to give you a tight squeeze hehe
-he doesn’t give you gifts often unless he goes out and sees something that reminds him of you or a special event, just because he’s not a massive gift giver
-will definitely pay for your things but does that rlly count as gift giving….that’s all I’m saying teehee
-gets flustered if you give him a lot of gifts or if ur a gift giver person because he automatically feels like he has to reciprocate every single time and he doesn’t know what to do!! it’s overwhelming </3
-but he appreciates it more than you know I promise he’s just like so awkward because now he just wants you to get you a million things to thank you :)
-prolly the type of person to get all giggly if you’re opening a gift he prepared for you and is like “teehee can u guess what it is hehe ur gonna like it!!”
lee know
-I don’t think he’s big on gift giving, receiving or giving
-mainly because he prefers to show his love for you through other means, and also because he doesn’t want to make your relationship too material-based
-but expect him to go all out for special events like birthdays and whatnot!!
-a dozen red roses and a box of your favorite chocolates along with a cute stuffed animal sprayed with your favorite cologne of his, or even smth more personalized to your relationship like a three page card and a custom music box or your favorite song
-expect the usual of him paying for your things in a traditional bf sense, but it’s not like he’s going to come home to spoil you just because
-he can spoil u in other ways yknow…not just money!!
-but when it does come to the days he know it’s necessary to spoil you, he always knows what to get you and never expects too much in return because he’s so sweet like that bye
-“well you don’t have to get me anything for my birthday rlly…” like boy shut up!!
changbin
-he loves receiving gifts !! it makes him feel so spoiled and loved
-obviously he knows you love him even if you don’t have the means to give him any sort of extravagant gifts that r super hefty and large yknow
-but it’s just smth so sweet to know you picked an item out for just him, thinking of him, or that you looked at it and you though “oh I think binnie would like this!!” and he DOES !! EVERY TIME!!
-even if you just give him a sticky note with a heart written on it he’ll praise and cherish it forever because you have it to him,,,with him in mind
-that’s such a sweet concept to him that anyone can see an inanimate object and be like “omg this is so changbin”
-it just makes it feel like you’re always thinking about him n it makes him feel extra loved
-he’s kinda bad at picking out gifts entirely because he doesn’t know how to keep it small, he always ends up buying an entire store…
-so he’ll leave it to you <3
hyunjin
-gets you the best handmade gifts in the world
-if you see a cute stuffed animal on social media than he’ll learn how to crochet in order to make you a replica <3
-he likes to paint you mini watercolor sketches of pretty sights he sees while on tour “the sky reminds me of your eyes so I just had to paint it” and you’re bawling your eyes out
-he loves receiving smaller gifts that take a bit more effort, he’ll appreciate the designer handbag from time to time don’t get me wrong but knowing you took your markers to make him a pretty card has him clutching his chest on his knees
-he thinks it means a lot when it shows you put a sort of thought process into making something for him
-probably the type to hang up ur stupid doodles/cards on his fridge sorry not sorry he’s just that type of boyfie
-honestly just a fan of the simpler things :) finds it difficult to go gift shopping without buying you the entire store because u deserve it babe!!
han
-idk I feel like he always goes overboard without even realizing it when he gets you gifts
-he’ll buy something out of the blue but then he looks over and he sees something that reminds him of you and he’ll be like well…shit I guess I gotta get it too…and it’s a nonstop cycle
-“babe I know I said that I only got you a trinket but the entire store had you written all over it so I just had to buy it!!”
-he gets too excited with gift giving but it’s not his fault everything in the store is screaming your name
-but gifts also include hand written doodles and sketches that he writes little love letters on
-he has a wide spectrum!!
-every day he’ll get you something, from a designer brand to a handpicked flower with a little love note
felix
-is such a good gift giver, always so thoughtful and kind when it comes to getting you something
-a gift is always accompanied with a sweet note or a kiss <3
-he is good at controlling his spending, in the way that he knows he’s going a bit overboard on you but that’s ok <3 you have a very high budget in his heart
-he likes making you things too, little bracelets or doodles, gets all giggly and excited when he watches you take the gift
-tbh I don’t really know how he feels about receiving, he appreciates it endlessly but I don’t think it’s his favorite. It means a lot to him when you express your love in other ways.
-doesn’t mean he’s not gonna cherish anything you get him!! builds a whole ass ikea shelf to show off sticky notes you write to expensive birthday gifts
-expect a lot of matching gifts tho :P your wrists are gonna be stacked with handmade bracelets for each other
seungmin
-when he gives gifts he gets a little antsy and try to play it off
-like teehee oopsies pls don’t say anything while he prays you like it
-it’s a bit of a rarity for him to give gifts because he just gets nervous and doesn’t want to make it a big deal but he also wants to ensure you know that he’s doing his best especially for anniversaries or whatever
-like he knows that giving gifts is good boyfie things but it just makes him so nervous
-also when receiving he doesn’t want to make you feel awkward so he’ll give u a shy smile
-it also makes him feel silly because you got him a gift?? he’s just surprised for some reason which makes me cry he deserves the world bye
jeongin
-when both receiving or giving he gets so HYPE!!
-like dawg is very confident in his choices and also knows that you’ll love it so he’ll be like “guess what I got u BBY :)”
-he doesn’t really make you gifts he prefers buying, just because he doesn’t want to make you an ugly gift with his own hands so he wants to buy you something pretty!!
-he adores seeing something pretty knowing that your eyes will light up when you see it, like…why else would he buy something if not to see you smile
-loves receiving gifts too tho he’s clapping his hands and smiling, it doesn’t even matter what you get him if it’s from you he does not care!!
-he loves you so much, the idea that you went out of your way to get him something throws a massive smile on his face and he’s hugging you and thanking you
-loves gift giving sm

~~~~~~~~~~~
She was like an annoying fly that couldn't find its way out. Like a rabbit that kept getting caught in the trap because it wanted to get to the carrot. Like a stupid animal that kept getting caught, but didn't seem to mind. Whenever the bell rang and she came in, there was no new customer, no packet, just her.
The slight smile on her lips as she took in the atmosphere was something the group didn't like at all. A fly in her normal outfit, not a hint of black on her, no black make-up, no tattoo, no black lipstick, just a normal girl.
An annoying one at that, because at first the black circle thought she was lost and had even tried to help her in a relatively friendly way, but instead she stayed in the store and stayed and stayed, which only came to an abrupt end after Varg snorted at her and Dead gave her a little show of his skills.
"That will have scared her off," Euronymous muttered, looking up from the till to see her figure running around the corner before turning back to the money but somehow none of them could get that little smile out of their heads.
The way she had looked at the pallets with interest, finding the designs fascinating even if she had no idea about the music, it was somehow funny and yet annoying.
Maybe it was the first time they had seen that "normal" people could also find joy in this store. Something the group perhaps even liked, maybe they wanted to be normal for a brief moment. But as luck would have it, they came back the very next day. To everyone's surprise, she had a box with her, a box that smelled delicious.
A smell that the black circle could identify as muffins. "Hello... I know I don't know anything about this... but maybe we can start again?" she asked and placed the muffins on the bars, watching as the group thought about their leader, then looked at her and back.
But when Faust took the first bite and sighed as the chocolate oentagram painted on the muffin seemed to have an effect, the group was more than willing to take it.
They quickly went through the records and albums together with Euronymous, Dead, Hellhammer and Necrobutcher. She practiced guitar with Varg, Faust and Occultus and tried to write like the others herself while she practiced making music with the guys, something they all wanted more and more of.
Maybe she wasn't quite so normal after all, maybe it was the mix of both or just the demonically good pentagram muffins she always brought in for the group with a smile. But who could say at the end of the day in the music store.
Louis Tomlinson ‘Faith in the Future’ World Tour 2023
By: Steve Jennings (Photos and Text) | 11 AUG 2023
Tumblr media
English singer-songwriter and former One Direction band member Louis Tomlinson is back out on the road in support of his second album, Faith in the Future. For his second world tour, he’s playing to an ever-growing audience—the crowd I witnessed could not get enough of him as evident from the adoring fans singing along to every word he sang. We spoke to Production Designer, Programmer, and Director Tom Taylor of TANCK about the tour.
Designer Tom Taylor started working on the current tour as the new album’s promo materials and aesthetics came to light. Taylor says it’s a more rugged and asymmetrical look than they’ve gone for before, meant to mirror a sort of dive bar aesthetic rather than a beautiful arena production. “This reflects the music off the latest album, which has a more grungy feel to it. There are touches in there such as the light boxes (loosely resembling the fluorescent lights of a nightclub toilet), and our custom camera housing (a hollowed out old VHS camcorder with a Marshall 4K camera inside) that bring it back to a more intimate venue feel than the true scale of the places we’re playing across the world.”
Taylor notes the show itself has definitely progressed and he would say feels more like a ‘show’ than a ‘gig‘ now; it has a start, middle, and end, with themes and segues to connect them throughout. “The video content is more to set a mood for the songs. We’re trying to stay away from anything too literal and obvious. This extends to the lighting programming as well where we largely refrain from hitting everything on the beat, fully ‘perfect’ timecoded hits throughout the rig. Hopefully the end result is that in those moments where we do go crazy with programming and rhythm, it’s much more interesting and stands out in the set.”
Tumblr media
Since 2020, Taylor has worked with Francis Clegg on production design. They had worked together for about five years prior to that and have a complimentary skill set. “We’ve accelerated quite rapidly, taking on a design assistant in Jamie Lawrence and soon to have another member of the team joining,” Taylor says. “Whilst one of us is the company face to each artist or client, we work together 50/50 on every project behind the scenes. James Washer [Lighting Programmer] is often the first name on the team sheet when we pick up a show like this one… he just gets it; is a great programmer and time saving resource who knows how to interpret when I say something like ‘can the lights be a little more aggressive.’ Francis (Clegg) is also a fantastic programmer, so I was able to work alongside James in the rehearsals to finesse the previz programming.”
Although he’s on a MA Lighting grandMA3 surface, Taylor runs the show on MA2 software. The reason for that is because this tour goes everywhere in the world, and he knows he can get an MA2 anywhere without having to lug around small form consoles himself. Taylor much prefers to take a USB stick through an airport. “We are running a lot of things through the desk—lighting, video, camera switching, and automation. The MA makes this easier to deal with and the fixture cloning system is excellent, so I know I’m going to get a good replica of the show no matter what fixtures I get thrown wherever we go.”
The venue sizes this time around sort of called for a video element to be added, Taylor says. “The focus of the show is, of course, Louis, so plenty of close-up camera work to amplify his emotion. These are treated with overlays and masks created by [content creators] Two Suns and ourselves, with 3D animation work coming from Boxcat Studio. The whole system is run on a Resolume server. Camera switching is done from the MA console via Open Control, which sends OSC messages to the ATEM switcher, which ultimately sends it to the capture cards. This way we eliminate a touring video director (sorry!) and save a bunch of truck space on outboard equipment. The system works extremely well.”
Tumblr media
Colour Sound Experiment out of London is the tour lighting, video, and rigging company. “We use them for a large portion of our shows. It’s very useful dealing with just one company who ‘do it all’ but also don’t cut any corners or scrimp to get the job done. The equipment is well maintained with a good selection of inventory to choose from.” Taylor says it probably took them about three iterations to get to the point they’re at now, keeping ideas from the previous versions until they got somewhere they were all happy with. “It was a bit of a process, but a great payoff. I should probably thank Louis and his Manager, Matt Vines, for their patience in putting it all together. There are a lot of (literally) moving parts to the stage with winches, light boxes, light bulbs, and our shuttering set piece at the back. Ultimately the show is dynamic and exciting, but all the elements sit nicely together as well.” Taylor was a bit unsure on using the GLP X4 Bars across the back because of the brightness difference to GLP’s FR10, for example, but they are exactly the right brightness for this gig without being overpowering, he says. “My absolute favorite moment of the show, where we have some crazy iridescent hyper color animation, is driven by the Ayrton Huracans… amazing lights, just don’t try to pick one up by yourself, they’re beasts!”
Tomlinson was really involved in the design of this one, and also much more open to trying new things and delivering a narrative through the show, adds Taylor. “Matt Vines should have a shout out for his contribution to the ‘ideas factory’ and being a great sounding board as we developed the show. PM Craig Sherwood has been incredible as always, never asking ‘why’ we want to make it look like a derelict bathroom, just making it happen. Finally, the tour’s secret weapon, technical maestro Sam Kenyon, who is quite literally irreplaceable, has been an excellent resource for actually delivering the show in the real world day after day.”
These two chains are different, however, they share the motif of being made of small round beads. JaeDo didn't wear this chain model before.
And here is a chain that looks even more similar to the one Do wore for the poster. Jae went to LA in February, I think?
(All three chains have different size of beads, but connect the same way bead-bar-bead-bar).
I don't pay close attention to jewelry this year, however, three facts have been established over the years: 1) JaeDo like couply things, 2) silver (in colour) jewerly is their thing, they had same bracelets and similar chains in the past, 3) both of them demonstrate a couply item or a received item for a period of time, try to use it during moments that will be documented (like MVs, pictorials, vlogs).
For example, these converse. Jae wore them for the musical, Horizon, now his solo album. They should be from 2018 (or a copy of that model as a reminder). 127 advertised the brand back then and JaeDo appeared in the same model for EnNaNa shows (Johnny usually wore somethign different). It was the period of JaeDo jumping into couply action.
Identical chains/pendants are usually from the stylist, Jae and Do wear them on separate days. Their own items are similar in design or of the same brand.
This is the most striking example of JaeDo making sure fans get the memo. Do was like "kekeke, I saw Casper and had to buy it, here is a bunch of pictures with me in this new sweater" and never re-appeared in this sweater ever again. Jaehyun needed moral support back then, so Do did a big public gesture.
The toy maker request was so cute! so I thought of headcanos for Silver, Riddle and Jade with a reader (female reader, if that's not too much trouble). ♥♬Making a music box for his partner; said box has a design and melody inspired by said boy♬♥
Tumblr media
-- silver, riddle and Jade making customized music boxes for his partner !
⚠: fluff like always !!
a/n: THIS IDEA WAS SO CUTE!!! I decided to do a small drabble for each of them instead of headcanons if that's OK :) tysm for enjoying my work ^^
SILVER first thought of the idea when Lilia was telling him stories of young couples he saw throughout his lifetime. He loves you so much but often times shows it in subtle ways which you sometimes look over and he doesn't want that. he wants you to know that you have 100 percent of his heart so he chose to show his love I'm a unique way, a custom music box. He brought this idea up to Lilia who probably had alot more experience in love than him. Lilia absolutely loved the idea and even offered to help Silver to make the box! In the end they chose a light blue and light grey color pallete with a soft melody that could lure one to sleep. Silver played the music box over and over right before he gave it too you, smiling to himself knowing that you'll love it.
RIDDLE has very special ways of showing his love to you. He never knew how to properly love someone so his methods can come off as almost mean. He will scold you if you miss any assignments but then help you. If you get sick he will tell you off saying that you should have dressed warmer while putting a cold washcloth on your forehead. One night he was thinking about his ways of showing his love and came to the realization that he might not be showing enough love. Though you're greatful for any love he shows he believes that he must show more. So with the help of Trey and Cater they brainstorm ideas. They're almost out of luck until Cater suggests something handmade! Riddle went back to his dormroom with a idea in mind a black and red music box that plays a tune you'd find at a tea party.
JADE is already a romantic lover, often making you swoon and cover your face. He always has you in mind and shows you how much he appreciates you alot. He'll give you discounts at Mostro Lounge (much to azuls dismay) and even chat with you for a bit while you relax! He loves you so dearly so when Floyd cheesily suggested that he hand make you something to proclaim his long lasting love, he actually listened. He decided to make a music box with all different shades of light blues and greens almost like the ocean that plays a nice soft jazz tune. He absolutely knew you'd like it, he made it for you afterall. But when it came time for him to actually give it too you he was at a lost for words. Normally he was smooth and calm but when he's around you sometimes his mature personality will drop and you're left with a flustered eel.
THOUGHTS WHILE WATCHING GILMORE GIRLS: S3/EP4/ONE’S GOT CLASS THE OTHER ONE DYES (PART 2)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luke and Lorelai both have "unique" approaches to conducting business, I'll give them that. This chapter was rough for me to write for some reason and then I LOST my draft partway through and had to rewrite everything! Some things that are happening:
-Lane attempts to initiate a conversation with Mrs Kim about her new band. She loses her courage before Mrs. Kim presents her with applications to strict Christian colleges. -Michel suggests that the honor of being named a Successful Person in Business is a low bar to clear when Lorelai's only business competitor in Stars Hollow is a presumably homeless and/or mentally ill fellow who scours the streets for change with a metal detector. I mean, yeah, he has more ambition and a better work ethic than Lorelai does.
-Luke is reluctant about the speaking gig and Lorelai threatens to embarrass him by singing badly in public if he does not comply. He may as well refuse since she's going to embarrass him on a daily basis no matter what he does anyway? -Luke says he went to Stars Hollow High for three years. Huh? I thought he's lived in The Hollow his entire life? High school is four years long. Did he move, drop out or graduate early? No explanation was given at this point in time.
Tumblr media
-Luke has "no good memories" of high school. Join the club. -Luke asks Lorelai if she's ever been diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder. No, the answer you're looking for is no. She is unmedicated and dangerous.
My beloved Tomatos Sign is missing! You'd think it was because after 3 years the prop department noticed the spelling error and took it down to fix it. You would be wrong. It'll return shortly to be Tomatos for several more years. Should I ask that Valerie Campbell lady (as "key set designer" is her title, I believe) why it took 5+ years for someone to notice one of the most visible props for the entire run of the series had a spelling error?
Lane is interesting. Yes, she is naive in many ways, that's a given with her upbringing. But she is also painfully self aware and highly intelligent. She is definitely not stupid. She fully realizes how desperately boxed in she is by her neurotic mother. She makes the effort and takes risks to live life on her own terms even though it usually seems futile and AmyShermanPalladino is always lurking around a corner waiting to shatter all her hopes and dreams. Rory on the other hand is such a pathetic people pleaser and so desperate to keep her mother happy that I think she's blind to the fact that she's actually in a similar situation, Lorelai just masks it under the veneer of being a "cool young mom" and Rory is content to remain more stagnant. I have more thoughts on this subject but let's not make this into a rambly mess. On with the ShitCircus.
I can't believe it looks there's another fucking festival going on in the background. I am grateful some of these seasonal events exist because it helps me keep track of where we are in the year. There's pumpkins, it's fall, the Thanksgiving episode is still a ways away so I can assume it’s early October and Rory would have just had her 18th birthday.
Tumblr media
Lane and Rory on their way to harrass Queen Shane at her place of employment. Minimum wage in 2002 was $5.15, by the way. Look at that Rory, someone your age has a JOB that makes MONEY.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stars Hollow, the land where nobody has seen a tv show produced after 1975 but the references to modern pop and rock music flow like wine.
Tumblr media
Alexis really does have some spectacular defeated/fed up with everything facial expressions in her acting playbook.
Tumblr media
Sure her customer service skills aren't the greatest, but if Lorelai Gilmore is allowed to leave work in the middle of the day to shop for coffins then Shane should be allowed to read a Seventeen behind the counter and ignore Rory. Her manager, Cynthia, is pretty chill and will look the other way if Shane slacks off. Reminder that while Rory knows who Shane is, Rory has barely been a glint in the corner of Shane's eye. Any time that Shane and Rory have shared the same space, it's been when Shane runs into the diner, makes out with Jess, and doesn't look back. Because she is a god damn superhero.
Tumblr media
It's unlikely Jess and Shane ever use their tongue for talking either so I doubt Jess has told her who Rory is. So to Shane Rory is just some random customer who is staring at her weirdly like she's trying to melt her with her eye-beams.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at that exemplary customer service. Better crown her Employee of the Month now, before Jess offs her and throws her in the lake next month.
Tumblr media
Dirty white aprons with tomato can accessories are the newest sensation on the 2002 Paris Runways. Luke Danes, fashion icon. Time to go to class. Lorelai is there to play Fashion Fairy Godmother. Upstairs we go to get him out of that sweaty flannell.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's so filthy. L&L barge into the apartment without knocking to find Jess in the middle of pulling up his pants. Walking into any room that a teenage boy might occupy is a risky game, but Interruption seems to be Lorelai's biggest kink.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know Jess is just a poor little street urchin but can we get him some clothes that fit for once? In 2002 Milo was so smol a stiff breeze could have blown him away. He's wearing a belt and it's not working. Those pants are so baggy they could fit 3 Milos in them. Not that I would mind if his pants fell down. Looks we're on Gilmore Girls Time today, where down is up and right is left as Luke and Lorelai are about to give speeches at Stars Hollow High in the middle of the school day but Shane, Lane, Rory and Jess are not in school and no one cares, so it's Who The Fuck Knows O'Clock.
Stars Hollow High: Jess is not graduating because he never went to class. Luke: How could I possibly know that? Jess settles into a chair with a chemistry textbook. Our Child Labor Kingpin here Luke Danes tells him to go help Cesar downstairs. Jess says his education is more important than Luke's desire to use his nephew for cheap child labor. Luke disagrees. Luke goes to change in his bedroom leaving Lorelai, Jess, and a cloud of awkard silence to mingle in the other room. Luke has a book on his shelf called "Forty Days" but i can't find anything with that title. It sounds kinda erotic, tbh. Lorelai says she's gone swimming with Luke and has seen him shirtless before. Que? Jess: Have you seen him with his shirt off lately? He's really let himself go. Lorelai: *Sneers and ignores him. (to Luke): And lose the baseball hat! Jess: I think his head will fall off without it. Lorelai (snarkily): I think he'll be okay. You wanted Jess to talk, right? You're going to continue bitching to everyone you know that Jess Mariano only speaks in grunts like a caveman unlike your little fucking English scholar there Dean Forrester, right? He just lobbed you two funny quips in a row (and you love funny quips!) but now you're silent and giving him a dirty look and a nasty attitude. WHAT DO YOU EVEN WANT, WOMAN? MAKE UP YOUR MIND! WHY SO SILENT QUIPPY! WHAT DID THIS CHILD EVER DO TO YOU!
Tumblr media
I'm just gonna sit here and read my little Chemistry book, and one day I'm gonna make 40 kajillion dollars when my books are made into blockbuster movies, and I will own you, Aunt Lorelai. I will own you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lorelai doing the Fry squint at Jess when he asked if something was wrong, because she refused to make conversation with him.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Gilmore Girls Time. Let's stop the clock for a minute here. Moments ago, Shane was at work. She rang up Rory and Lane, and they left immediately. The scene then cuts to Lorelai entering the diner and then after he gets a brief lecture about his clothing choices, Lorelai and Luke start to head upstairs so he can change. In order for Closet Girl to be Shane, her shift would have ended seconds after she finished with Rory and Lane, and then she would have to immediately run down the street, sneak upstairs to Luke's apartment without him noticing and would only be seconds into servicing Jess as Luke and Lorelai are about to walk in PLUS he would need time to hide her in the closet and pull up his pants and appear cool calm and collected. I know Shane is a slutty superhero but could she really put that off in just a few minutes? Conclusion? It wasn't actually Shane in that closet and Jess has a rotation of girls who skip school with him to service him in his uncle's closet.
A bit of context for the followers who don't interact with me on the constant: for a couple of years now I have been working with @umbraproductions112 on a project in a game known as Rec Room related to the Backrooms. If you're interested the game is an ongoing WIP and is known as The Backrooms: Silent Screams. This sort of.. series(?) takes place in the world of the game. It may not follow all of the same characters but you may recognize a few if you play the game and read this.
Unfortunately now I gotta bring up this lovely word..
DISCLAIMER: The Backrooms Silent Screams uses custom takes on entities and features entities that you will not find on any Backrooms related wiki, fandom or otherwise. This story will feature uncomfortable topics that will be mentioned in the trigger warnings section at the top of each bit. Please keep in mind that you the reader are responsible for the content you consume. If I do something stupid please call my ass out on it so it can be fixed-
Also. I suck at editing. So formatting may be a bit wonky! ..it'll get better over time- ..I think. Final words before I get into the actual opening into this: if you want to be added to the tags, leave a comment and I will try to remember to tag you in this.
So enough stalling. Enjoy and I apologize for any editing mistakes as currently I AM POSTING THESE FROM MY PHONE!
Rumors speak of a train of some sort that can be found through some abandoned tunnels at off hours of the night. Some claim that moths or other nightly creatures had led them to it, others just felt compelled to follow a mostly overgrown trail. Either way you find yourself here at the train which has come to a stop. It looked like something from an old film, the kind of train you'd expect a murder mystery to take place on, or at least that seems to be the point. As you stand there, you notice a strange goat-like creature boarding the train carrying a box of ..something. Being further curious, you follow their lead and board the train.
The interior of the train car in question was Victorian in design. It was quiet, except for the hum of the engine andsome quiet music in the background. There was talking from further in, most likely the next car over. There were shelves lined with books along with various canvases, paints, and other art supplies. A table with a half finished game of chess and some chairs sat near the window. Judging by the dust covering the board and chess pieces, it had been left untouched for quite some time. A couch sat across from the table, and a mess of blankets and cushions like someone had sat there recently to read. There was a small bar of sorts not far from the couch, on it sat three drinks that seemed to have been placed there recently. Whoever was there seemed to be expecting guests.
As you approach the door, you catch part of the conversation. Two people, one sounding a bit more rough than the other, yet still managing to sound polite.
“It's not much..” said the first voice. “But I figured you'd like to go over some of this. ..maybe even transcribe some of the audio recordings.. I know you've been itching for a new project of late.”
They sounded almost excited to be sharing this.
“You know me too well, Karma.” came the second voice, which was softer than the first and sounded amused. “It'll take me some time to get through this- oh? And there's artwork too.. interesting work- but I'll be more than happy to do so. Consider this an exception to how I handle wanderer tales.”
The sound of footsteps was approaching the door just as you reached it.
“Thanks! Just keep me posted if you find anything noteworthy!-” answered the first voice as they opened the door. You are met with the strange goat-like creature who got on initially. They had dappled gray what you assumed to be skin, with black hair with bright green tips and even brighter green eyes to match as they stared utterly confused by your presence. The shirt and jacket combination they were wearing was not in good shape, part of the sleeve had a piece torn and the shirt clearly had seen better days. The worn shirt revealed nasty scars across the creature's chest. The only thing of note about the jacket were two very worn red stripes on the sleeves, one of which had writing on it that read: “Outpost 36”. Not even the jeans were spared; it honestly looked like they got into a fight or two on the way to the train. Behind them though stood a slightly taller figure that looked like some sort of moth-like fae, dressed almost like some sort of magician with an umbrella hooked over one arm. “uh- hey Sakurai...you expecting anyone else?” said the goat looking confused. The moth nodded. “I could use the company as I look through these.” they said, smiling as they motioned you inside the next car. “Come on! Let's look at this together and see what stories we can uncover.”
