this isn’t a question i just want to yap bc u sound like u would like to hear about this stuff

but naturally as someone with higher intelligence i like to think about things a lot and ask questions and form my own opinions and theories about things regarding research and such

and i’ve come to the conclusion that people who disregard shifting as false or mental illness are of lower intelligence and have no sense of self. they disregard philosophy, neuroscience, sociology, and other forms of science because shifting/manifesting goes against the idea that their logic is always correct and never flawed (in that sense, they are right— one who says they will shift, will, and one who says they won’t shift, won’t, to put it simply). but with the logic they are using, they are condemning themselves to an existence of suffering

these people are content with being cogs in a corporate machine. even if they are creative or imaginative, they still hold a standard of mental health criteria that directly relates to how people function under intense capitalism and oligarchy. they think they’re normal because they get up and work their 9-5 and feed their families and repeat the same thing every day. they can’t imagine even having a sense of control over any aspect of their lives.

i think it’s anti human to disregard shifting, among other things. as intelligent creatures compared to other species (who are no less deserving of respect despite, might i clarify), we are naturally curious. we want to build and create and nourish ourselves, both mentally and physically. we want life and community and love and food and to have fun and enjoy ourselves. in current societal structure, that is flattened, nuked, obliterated. anything that isn’t contributing to an oligarchs income is disregarded, because the art, philosophy, music, and culture of working regular people isn’t important to them. and unfortunately, many working people are so affected by propaganda and the belief that rich people are better and stronger is enough to paralyze them. and therefore, we’re turned enemies with the ordinary people, and seen as crazy for even thinking of something that doesn’t align with a capitalist lifestyle because this society is so focused on toppling each other just for a chance to get to the top. there’s no community, no understanding, no gentle or kind nature. we have completely disregarded the power of our own minds as humans, and these people have therefore lost their humanity.

they don’t even know what happens after they die, so how can they know all that happens when they live if they don’t even try to think of anything else?

you're so right !!!! imagine living in a world where human innovation has birthed quantum mechanics, existentialist philosophy, surrealist art, and entire simulated realities. but you draw the line at moving your consciousness somewhere else. be serious.

your take on capitalism hijacking imagination is so painfully true it makes me want to eat drywall. like yeah, of course, society doesn’t want people believing they have infinite power. how else do you get them to clock in at target for 8 bucks an hour? we’ve literally been gaslit out of our own potential.

Stats Sunday

Happy March!! Thanks for the tag @nausikaaa! Unfortunately, my goal is to make this banner worse every month, so be prepared—we've only just begun.

Early post for me. I should be sleeping but I started making my graphs and then... well, here we are.

Here's my February Recap loll. Stats and graphs and musings incoming. (this post is so long but i promise there's a snippet in here)

I've posted two things last month! A valentine's day fic for Ebb/Fiona and Chapter 3 of the Way We Are. (Technically i posted 3 but this stranger things oneshot was posted on the 1st and written in January so it feels like January's accomplishment)

Total words written for February: 14405 (this beats Jan by 460 words!)

Days I met my writing goal (200 words): 20

Days I didn't write or edit anything: 4

Day I wrote the most: Feb 11th with 2249 (this beats last month's high score of 1717!)

Number of Fics worked on: 10 technically, but i have not been consistent with most of them. mainly worked on 3.

Daily Average: 514 words (but like last month i am highly inconsistent and my WC varies wildy depending on the day)

(I really like the little curve in the middle. also two the days that look like zero are actually 1 words, which is my placeholder if i spend all day editing)

And here's a pie chart to show my WC distribution across projects. Tbh a lot of these were fics that i've had in my fic ideas doc and all i did was make a google doc for them and word barf onto it my ideas, that's why there's so many small slices.

some slices are so small you don't even get to know my placeholder names. also i hope the title THTHIPWGI intrigues you, i'm always excited when i can title a fic right away and refer to it by a fun accyromn on my spreadsheet.

I finished writing all of The Way We Are!! (kind of. i have one more scene to write. Monica's fault.)

My car battery died and I had to get a new one :/

my savage worlds campaign finally got our ship back and made it off this stupid planet that we've been on forever.

i've started watching Yellowjackets and I'm really enjoying it

I read so many CO AU fest fics and each one of them was so good. I think i've read all except one so far, and honestly this fest has been so fun i'm obsessed with you guys, you're are so talented.

SPEAKING of CO AU fest fics, @fiend-for-culture's fic, Everything In Between, is SO good, i've been thinking about it all week. you should read it (and leave a comment so i can read it bc i'm stalking the comments on this fic and there's not enough to sate me)

Man, genuinely there's little that excites me more than encountering queerness in fiction where I wasn't expecting it. I'm gonna be thinking about Kikuhiko/Yakumo from SGRS for so long.

Even setting aside the subtext of his feelings for Sukeroku, the narrative around his relationship to gender norms and his own expression is so fascinating. Guy who grows up steeped in rigid 40s gender roles and actively tries to enforce them, yet only truly feels like himself when he's acting on stage as a woman. Guy who says his life would have been better if he were born a woman and then refuses to elaborate.

i know we all hate tritter but if we think about him as a metaphor instead of a person i think the arc is pretty interesting. especially when we look back at euphoria and note the themes about cops and power there.

the difference between house and a cop (or house and his father or house and god) is that no matter what kind of moralistic view house has (whether it be the deeply flawed one from his dad or his own) house is /always/ up against something taking his agency.

house, especially in the earlier seasons, conflates power with agency. i assume, because that was the case for him growing up: his dad had the power, so he made the decisions about what happens to house's body.

we also see it in the fact society has outcast him, his leg crippled him, his addiction controls him. and perhaps even how his own belief system prevents him from being happy

so when the tritter arc happens and we see this almost comedically evil villain actually able to punish house (unlike the sick cop from euphoria who just like, dies) its not only a representation of the outside forces that conspire against house, but a reflection of the mans own policing system.

a lot of the tritter arc is made for house to confront his own power and how he wields it over others. he outwardly denies any hipocracy or self-destructive behavior, because he believes that his loss of power is loss of agency (because that has been true his whole life). tritter is a bad cop thru and thru but at the end of the day, house does give in, he does apologize to wilson despite having mixed feelings about the whole thing.

in reality we see house reflect a lot of what tritter is saying. in the rehab scene he says nothing matters, that rehab is all fake and cant fix anything. then tritter comes and house gets mad bc tritter wont give him a chance. but tritter says the same thing house does: you cant change, you wont change. house's anger at this could be interpreted as he's pissed hes not getting off, but i think it shows that house really /wishes/ that rehab could work, that people can change. he wishes that his actions to be better made any difference. that he had the power/agency to control his fate

and at the end of court, tritter says the same thing: i hope im wrong about you.

a killugon detail i fell in love with

At the end of the Zoldyck Family arc, when Gon finally reaches the mansion with Kurapika and Leorio, and gets to see Killua again, Killua and Gon get really excited and laugh at the other's appearance.

I've always loved this short moment. After all they went through, it's still a moment in which they can be happy and excited, they can laugh and just be kids. They are both injured, and they know it. However, instead of talking about it or make awkward pauses, they laugh it off.

Since both of them are hurt, they stand on the same ground. Because of it, even though they may be worried about the other, they don't need to talk about it or explain themselves. They are not even obliged to mention what happened, despite probably knowing the reason why they look like that. There's not a moment in which they feel bad for the other, they are just thrilled to see their new friend again.

Not only this, but also the fact they were both hurt because of the other and under the orders of the same people (the Zoldycks).

In Gon's case, he wanted to reach Killua, so he stood his ground and got through every obstacle. Even when Canary hit him several times to make him leave and everyone was thinking he wouldn't be able to reach Killua, he persevered. He was hit because he wanted to see Killua again.

In Killua's case, he must have thought he wasn't going to see Gon ever again while being punished. He had to go through weeks of punishment because he left, disobeyed his family and made a friend. He was hit because he met Gon.

I love the fact that neither Gon nor Killua needed to talk about what happened. They were both injured, so there's no awkwardness nor drama and, even visually, it makes them equal. It's such a small detail, but I fell in love with it. Such a sweet moment for such sweet kids. The start of their new beginning!

Someone else posted about how there’s this conflict of the Ancient Greek morals homer presents in the odyssey about the valor of essentially ruthlessness which is definitely what Athena and Poseidon are conveying but then Odysseus is written in epic with more modern morals (at least to start).
