I add that there is a very common mistake of believing that the Trix are gothic. The Trix are not gothic, there is nothing like that that says that.
https://www.tumblr.com/bugbachelor/771716099336208384?source=share
extremely true actually, thanks for the addition! they just are nawt. whatsoever
they do all have a surprisingly well telegraphed style considering they only get one casual outfit for them
Darcy dresses pretty casual except that her look is ripped right from the late 60s-70s. Icy's look is very put together and preppy. and Stormy has that flowy party girl look going
honestly i wouldn't call the general witch fashion in the show very goth either. (i tend to call them wannabe goth sometimes for laughs but they really aren't. at least not in a general sense)
they're alternative. maybe some mild baby goth vibes here and there. ripping these pics straight from my last rb where i talked more about witch fashion:
Tumblr media
like yeah, there's definitely an alt tendency here. some actually looking more punk, some a bit goth. more prominent side characters like Lucy and Mirta also fit that bill really well, even bringing some actual blacks to the table which is very rare in the show
the thing is i'm not even sure i would even call the Trix all that alternative in their civilian style. they have super normal looks, not that different from the winx even. only really standing out by the three of them going with more monochrome colours (potentially a group decision). which makes something like Stella commenting on the Trix's appearance a bit hypocritical because they don't even dress that differently to the winx. Stella could easily pull some of their outfits off no problem (if she changed the colour, some of those do not work for her)
i think for the Trix it's really just the witch transformations that throw people off. where you get the super empathized dark eyeshadow and skin tight body suit look with arm warmers/gloves and boots. that's definitely the edgy look people have in their head when they think of the Trix
because the show doesn't care to elaborate much about witches we don't even know if witch transformations work similar to the fairies' or if they have any influence over the look. but the every day outfits where we know for a fact that Trix have to chose for themselves don't reflect that edgy vibe At All
you have much brighter colours, regular clothes, not even super adventurous or alt cuts, and a very moderate amount of makeup with very light eyeshadow and lipstick (super standard for the show, also what the winx do)
and we also know they don't just wear them to be more unassuming or something. they're still rocking their regular comfort style even when hiding out with Valtor and so on. that's just their actual preferred style
they just do not have that gothic look, barely even alt. not to say they don't have very cohesive personal styles. again, they do. they're just not as hardcore as they portray themselves personality wise. their bad girl persona just works so well they're even fooling the fandom into thinking they're dark and edgy when it comes to fashion

ATSV Characters with a Goth S/o
heeeeeyyyyyy guys 😇 *slowly sliding the 100+ REQUESTS in my inbox to the side to make room for a new special interest*
🥀Cw: none, mostly fluff!!!
🥀Pairing(s): Hobie x reader, Miles x reader, Miguel x reader, Spot x reader
Tumblr media
Hobie
he would LOVE any type of alternative partner tbh- he just LOOOVESSS that ur goth and will support you 100%
people who go against societies expectations/standards and don't fit in with the norm intrigue him, and your style is probably what piqued his interest in the first place
y'all definitely wear matching fits sorry i don't make the rules- hobie just can't pass up the opportunity to match w you!!! whenever you go to meetings within the spider society he always brings you along, regardless of whether or not you're a spiderperson and hobie loves showing off you and your style
MAJOR "THATS MY PARTNER‼️" VIBES
look me in the eyes and tell me hobia would not absolutely rock some funky eyeliner LIKEEEEE- he def lets you practice on him and will do your makeup for you too!!!
hobie loves thrifting with you, there is no way he isn't a major thrifter and you both definitely DIY a lot of your clothes
HE MAKES YOU GUYS MATCHING PUNK BATTLE VESTS FOR YOUR ANNIVERSARY, AND MAKES SURE THAT IT MATCHES UR AESTHETIC AS WELL!!
hobie absolutely has BLESSED music taste, but while he usually listens to rock, punk, dad rock, or post-punk type of music, i def see him enjoying more gothic/new wave music- especially if u introduce it to him!!!
i see him enjoying bauhaus, sisters or mercy, scary bitches, etc- he'll also give YOU a lot of music recommendations and help to expand ur taste!
hobie would also accompany you to any protests or conventions that you wanted to attend, and would act as your scary dog privileges
YOU TWO DEFINITELY GO TO CONCERTS TOGETHER OMG. I TOTALLY SEE THAT AS A SPONTANEOUS DATE THAT YOU TWO ENJOY A LOT
honestly hobie is a lovely partner to have if you are goth, and he's not only supportive but VERY enthusiastic about your fashion and lifestyle!
Miles
hes such a sweetheart!!! he definitely supports you if you're goth and asks a LOOOT of questions lmao
miles draws you and your fashion a lot, and will def design makeup or eyeliner ideas for you too!!! while ik this is more associated with punk, i also see miles drawing you a few custom patches and stuff like that
your kind of like his muse in a way, and miles just really enjoys sketching you, especially since you have such a unique aesthetic and such cool outfits
HE HAS DEFINITELY GRAFFITIED U SOMEWHERE‼️
he loves watching you get ready and do your makeup. seeing you do perfect eyeliner wings and heavy makeup in general lowkey relaxes him, and he just loves admiring you
im sorry but miles knows absolutely nothing about goth music or culture, ur gonna have to introduce him to a lot of the songs/bands!!!
while i don't think he's huge on the music at first, i think it would grow on him over time. its definitely the type of thing that he loves because YOU love it, and he sees how mu much you enjoy it so he starts listening to it as well so he can talk to you about it
i think his favorite band would be the cure, and his fav songs would either be boys dont cry or the walk (both by the cure- idk why thats so specific but they just kinda fit his vibe yk?)
miles likes holding hands a lot, and he loves when you wear rings or gloves or something along those lines because it just reminds him so much of you! your hands just feel different compared to other peoples and he just loves how unique you are
if you have a lot of piercings, miles would definitely ask about them or buy you specific jewelry for piercings!!!!
overall, very very cute and supportive about your style!!! (he lowkey gives bi wife energy, and iyk what in talking ab then ily mwah)
Miguel
he's pretty indifferent to your style at first, i don't see him as the type to judge much based on appearances. its your personality that really throws him for a loop, and a part of him admires your dedication to making yourself look how you want to look and truly living to be your best self, regardless of what others think
if you think miles knows nothing about being goth then be prepared for miguel bc he knows NOTHINGGGG- no music, no history, no political views, zero, zilch, nada, goose egg
if he cares about you i do see him being intrigued about your style, and once you two are officially dating is when he'll show more interest in your personal fashion sense
he strikes me as the type to like, NEVER listen to music, so he literally only listens to the music you like!!! he does find himself occasionally humming the tune of some strawberry switchblade song or casually listening to a siouxsie and the banshees song while he works, and over time you influence him a LOT with your music taste. he definitely associates any and all goth music with YOU, and that's probably why he starts enjoying it.
he's a "hand on you at all times" type of guy, and while he is rarely touchy with others, miguel is definitely keeping you close. your fashion makes that convenient for him, and he loves pulling you into a kiss by grabbing onto your belt loop or something of the sort
miguel loves how you look with and without makeup on and isn't afraid to tell you that, however, he really likes it if you incorporate his colors or color scheme into your makeup one day. he'll never admit it, but you keep catching him admiring you with the smallest smirk on his face every few seconds
if anyone ever gave u shit for what you wear and how you dress, especially someone in the spider society, you'd practically have to restrain miguel from drop kicking them across nueva york- he doesn't want anyone to be rude to you , and while he knows you can stand up for yourself, he just gets protective at times
Spot
goth? whats that???
he's lowkey such a nerd, and spends too much time being science-y and planning on how to beat spiderman to actually get caught up on fashion
spot doesn't know how he pulled you tbh, but he appreciates you nonetheless!!! he thinks you and your aesthetic are something to be admired, and will unabashedly tell EVERYONE he knows about you
he will shoplift any clothing or jewelry that you want, and he'll even take you to other dimensions where there are better alternative clothes as well
spot doesn't really have a face to do makeup on, but he'll offer to do yours for you! surprisingly enough he's pretty good at it, though he does work pretty slowly
spot loves fiddling with your accessories, whenever he's standing near you he's always reaching out to touch you in some way shape or form. he loves playing with any chains or necklaces you wear, and will help adjust them so that they lay correctly
he helps you get ready in the morning!!!!! if ur the type of goth to wear corsets, he makes lacing them up SO easy and will gladly do it for you
i personally hc that spot HATES seeing himself in mirrors/pictures, it reminds him sm of what he used to look like, but he LOVES taking photos of you and your style!! whenever you are wearing a cute outfit or have funky makeup on, spot adores just taking photos of you
if you ever did a makeup look inspired by him and his spots he would probably CRY :(
URGRHHRHHRRR I LOVE ATSV SMMMMMMM!!!! this post will DEFINITELY have a pt2 w more characters!!!!! i swear tho atsv literally pulled me out of the most horrendous burnout ever i FELT the artblock and writing block lift off of my body as i watched it. IM SO INVESTED I MADE A SPIDERSONA...

☆-☆-☆-☆-☆-☆-☆-☆-☆-☆-☆-☆-☆-☆-☆-☆-☆
🖤 He's actually pretty good at a few handsy crafts, including but not limited to: sewing, drawing, and altering clothes in general. He used to go all-out on his outfits, and so often (still) diy them (in true punk/goth fashion)
🖤 It took a while for him to open up to Maru, but eventually they became friends. He learned that she always looked up to him, and he felt guilty about sending her away all the time
🖤 Him and Maru have a 2 year age difference, and although that means they have a somewhat equal level of maturity, it also means they used to fight, often
🖤 She's actually his biggest supporter when it comes to his job (which is never fully specified, but I think it's strongly implied it has to do with coding/computers in general). Robin doesn't really get it (but is still supportive of it, partially) and Demetrius...doesn’t bother to understand, mostly. But Maru gets it, and she also knows a bit about coding and tech stuff, so she can understand!
🖤 Him and Demetrius have a rocky relationship, at best. The thing is, neither of them really put in the effort to know the other. They're cordial with each other, but other than that...they keep to themselves
🖤 Sebastian was first friends with Abigail, actually, and she introduced him to Sam (Caroline and Jodi seem like good friends, so I think Sam and Abigail got to know each other first, too).
🖤 Seb would never say it out loud, but Abigail and Sam are his favorite people in the world
🖤 I headcanon Sam to be Seb's queer awakening (and whether the relationship continues as platonic or not, I'll leave up to your personal taste)
🖤 Sebastian is pansexual, he doesn't really care about the other's gender
🖤 He's also quite comfortable in his masculinity, sometimes wearing nail polish or makeup (of course, strictly black, after all he does have an aesthetic to maintain) and back in the days of wild nights out in the city, even a skirt from time to time. Nowadays, he limits himself to fishnet stockings under ripped jeans
🖤 He likes to be alone, a lot, but he doesn't like to feel lonely. It's nice to have people to go back to
🖤 He dyes his hair black. He'd be a natural light brown
🖤 He's a dry texter, but he never ghosts people. He's quick to respond, even if the response is more often than not a thumbs emoji and nothing else
🖤 Sometimes, he doesn't have the energy to really talk to people, but he still wants company. Abigail and Sam notice this sometimes, and let him be, while still being near
🖤 He can have really bad days. During a particularly bad one, where he couldn't stand to be alone with his thoughts, he dragged himself to Maru's room. It was the only place he managed to reach, not having the energy to call his friends. Maru saw that he wasn't doing so good, and didn't shoo him away. As he laid on the bed, she began talking "to herself" (so she claims) about her current project, and Seb dozed off to sleep. The only thing she said to him the following day, was "You're always welcome in my room"
🖤 He thanked her with a basket full of strawberries the next day
🖤 He likes the rain, and he also LOVES thunderstoms. To feel the earth shake with each thunder that hits even remotely close, to see lighting in the sky...
🖤 He likes horror movies, but he's also a fan of sci-fi, and tragic movies too. It's a secret, but he also has a weak spot for rom coms (the ones from the 2000s are usually what he prefers)
🖤 He used to love collecting pokémon cards
🖤 He likes to read, too, and him and Abigail sometimes discuss the latest books they read. Sometimes he even talks to Maru about literature, although she's more on the "classical" sides, while he enjoys moderns. But she did lend him Bram Stoker's Dracula (he loved it)

SOCIAL PRESENTATION AND CONDUCT:
Based around what the general outward perception would be of your muse based on their social habits. We as writers and rp partners know the ins and outs of characters, but I think a lot about how those characters would actually be perceived by those around them who only have their interactions to go off of. Usual rules: repost don’t reblog,  bold for always,  italicized for sometimes and strikethrough for never or n/a.
Introductions in relaxed social settings: If it’s a relaxed social occasion, Danny doesn’t see why other people in attendance wouldn’t already know his name .  .  . If no one else is preforming introductions, Danny will give his name. He doesn’t shake hands or touch others unless he really trusts them. Paranoid about contaminants on the skin.
Introductions in formal/professional settings: Danny still thinks people should know his name in formal settings. However, if they’re too stupid to handle proper etiquette, he’ll still give his first name. The nuance of fitting into different social classes is lost on him entirely. If you’re above others, taking, dolling out misery, rather than taking your resources to make things better, Danny thinks they deserve nothing less than being spit upon.
Meeting new people: warm.  cold. guarded.  welcoming. friendly. rigid.  skeptical. judgmental.  chatty.  shy.  timid. outgoing.  easily initiates conversation. waits for someone else to begin conversation. closed-off.  intimidating.  approachable.  cheerful. internally wary.  externally wary.  small talk. eager to become personable.  avoids overly personal topics and questions. likes meeting new people.  neutral about meeting new people.  anxious when meeting new people. dislikes meeting new people.
Crowded social settings: social butterfly. wallflower. stays close to those they know. willing to branch out on their own. comfortable.  thriving.  anxious.  wary.  hyper-vigilant.  observant.  self-absorbed. attentive. distracted.  disassociates.  overwhelmed easily.  extroverted.  introverted. ambivert.  people watches. inclusive.  exclusive. hospitable.  unapproachable.  charismatic.  purposefully attracts attention to themselves. unintentionally attracts attention to themselves.  charmingly awkward. uncomfortably awkward.  suave. unassuming.  pretentious.  code-switching.
Conversation conduct: attentive.  distractible.  dominates. listens.  well-balanced.  shares. withholds.  keeps focus on the other.  likes to keep focus on themselves.  tries to keep a balanced exchange of attention.  opens up easily.  avoids vulnerability.  encourages vulnerability in others. uncomfortable with displays of vulnerability. rambles.  concise.  wordy. swears casually. swears conservatively.  never swears. descriptive. vague.  blunt. flowery.  analogies. wandering topics.  stays on topic.  meandering.  focused.  tangents.  reserved.  poised. expressive.  easily ends interaction.  finds ways to continue interaction.  lingers until the other indicates they’re done.  anxious to fill silence.  comfortable with silence.
Neurodivergents; Masked versus unmasked presentation: While calling Danny neurotypical would be a stretch, he doesn’t really put on a mask as to who he is. With people he trusts, he trusts wholeheartedly and will go into situations with less suspicion. Danny’s pretty genuine to who he is in a lot of ways.
Fashion presentation: colorful.  muted.  neutrals.  neons.  pastels.  academic.  office.  business casual. casual. business formal.  camp.  conservative.  sensual.  bright.  dark.  frilly.  form fitting.  somber.  plain.  whimsical.  rigid.  monochromatic.  light academia.  dark academia.  alternative.  goth.  punk.  grunge.  pastel goth.  boho.  ethnic traditional.  modernized traditional. glamorous.  elegant. experimental.  vintage.  artsy.  chic.  follows trends.  doesn’t pay attention to trends. vibrant.  practical.  sporty.  androgynous.  femme.  masc.  (A note here: All of Danny’s clothes are gifted, stolen, or found in gutters, so as long as it can be made to stay on his body, he’ll wear it. I think you can imagine how this ends up.)
Typical outfit? Boots if he has found them, multiple pairs of socks, baggy jeans or tactical pants, t-shirts over long sleeves and a large hoodie. If he finds them, he doesn’t mind wearing stylized masks to hide his face. Surgical masks and anything of the like are an instantaneous no.
When others need comfort they: If it’s an emotional situation, rather than a practical one needing solutions, Danny might try to help “logic it out” or, because he’s never learned to deal with his emotional distress, would do nothing. Either they’ll repress it or ride it out on their own.
When they need comfort: Danny will deal with it on his own. If another person is involved, Danny will come up with what he views as an acceptable solution. Take it or leave it .  .  . Comforting words can help a lot here, along with gentle touches. But only if he trusts the other. He just wants to know that everything will be okay, and that there isn’t any danger. Like, really know it.
Typical disposition and demeanor: Danny tends to wander a lot, studying everything in his surroundings. Speaking to others is an odd mixture of not speaking unless he’s spoken to, and asking unprompted questions, which leads to unprompted judgement. I think Danny comes off as a bit chaotic, innocent to the ways of the world, arrogant, and a touch philosophical. He has an intense interest in the ways of the world and people. He thinks it’s our duty as living beings to make things better. Or at least fair.

I actually DO want a history of the difference between Punk and Goth!! I am so curious now
Okay, you've got it!
So historically, Punk is actually Goth's subculture predecessor! They're not completely separate social movements; Goth is almost a direct offshoot of Punk.
Punk has more of a focus on rebelling against oppressive authority to empower those considered "lesser" by societal standards. The poor, the lower class, those oppressed politically as well as socially. It's a movement of unity and rebellion, with a heavy focus on revolution and is often paired with social activism. These are wholly subcultures, after all, not just fashion statements!
Goth is a little more individualistic, still very "fuck you and your status quo", but in a more "empowering Me Personally" way. It's a more quiet rebellion, a personal decision to Stand Out and more motivated by Expressing Yourself than Sticking It To the Man.
Both take pride in Shocking the Masses With Their Rebellion and "being othered", though.
(Sidenote, ironically both subcultures have developed cliques with elitists that you'll run into from time to time, but elitism in them is Super Fricking Oxymoronic, because don't you people realize you're supposed to be rebelling against elitism entirely?)
Stylistically, punk historically leans a little more grunge and gunge, showing off DIY skills and embracing clothing pieces others would consider inferior, off-brand, off-kilter. Those lower-class associations are heavy in the fashion, which is where you get the torn-off sleeves and ripped jeans and generally well-worn, faded pieces.
If I've got my fashion history right, it started as more what we'd consider 90's grunge colors, the earth-tones and denim, and got darker as time went on. I wasn't around to see it, being both half a globe away and also not born yet, but from what I understand Punk actually began from things like ratty tennis shoes and denim, and didn't pick up the Loads of Black until later.
Some of that DIY look made its way into Goth, too! Goth started more as a music thing than the political thing associated with Punk. Traditionally Goth is a more laid-back and even darker than Punk started, emphasizing black from the very beginning but nowadays sometimes skewing a little more formal than Punk does, not afraid to look a little more like the bourgeoisie with their skirts and jackets and jewelry.
Goth of course leans heavily towards black, though I've seen both styles including dark, rich colors like navy and maroon, or neon elements against the black (especially in cybergoth and cyberpunk).
Note that both of them have such sub-subcultures, and the actual looks of one's clothing and hair is more of a spectrum than a checklist. The styles can definitely blend and the line between them visually is a little blurry. Not to mention how ~in~ they've both become, so now it's almost more "cool" to be Goth or Punk than the "absolutely Fuck You and Your Standards" that it used to be. Capitalism has gentrified things like ripped clothes and guyliner, which has definitely changed how more modern subculture members present with a... how should I put this... less intense, more palatable look. It's more readily available and accessible, and not as reliant on knowing other Punks/Goths to get started.
Even big-name fashion designers have made their names on dark, shocking, intimidating styles (looking at you, Alexander McQueen. I know nothing about the fashion industry, but my youngest siblings in as a fashion ho and has shown me his collections.)
I have absolutely Zero idea if any of this has any impact on your judgement of Gym Rat Modern!AU Gideon, but I think, just from how very "fuck authority" she is canonically, rebellious and how very Not Obedient she is, I'd personally place her more on the Punk side.

fuck it. my rq is that uhhhhh,,,, please tell me facts about the 80s :)
^ Asks that make Cowboy, as a grown ass man, go "TEEHEE"
Well for one the shirt I linked in that fashion post was actually one of the most popular brands to wear in the 80s, which is why I sought it out. (Also: I had to search for the past term for seek. :( )
I'm kinda bad at thinking of things for such broad topics, but let's see, what's some fun stuff I know...
Well, I know personal computers first started becoming really popular in the 80s. Before that, they were machines that took up entire rooms and weren't something you'd find in anyone's home, but smaller, more public-friendly versions started coming into the market in the late 70s and experienced a boom during the 80s.
One of my favorite computers of the 80s is the Amiga, which is kind of a basic 80s computer to like, but... look at it!
Tumblr media
It was pretty much, as far as I know, at least one of the best computers of its time, with a sleek, unique, and fast-loading system, a lot more RAM than its competitor the C64, amazing and vibrant visuals the likes of which had pretty much never been seen on a personal computer before, more hardware capabilities, better multitasking... basically it was a dream machine. The line also has one of my favorite UIs:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Check out how awesome these graphics are! The Amiga boasted games like The Secret of Monkey Island, Lemmings, Bubble Bobble, and the original Sid Meier's Civilization.
Of course, they went bankrupt in the 90s, after attempting and utterly failing to market the Amiga as a gaming console. IBM, Apple, and Windows were also coming out with computers around that time, with the first MacIntosh coming out in 1984 and Windows 1 (which was among the first to require the use of a mouse for input, rather than the keyboard!) coming out a year later in 1985.
LGR on YouTube has a lot of cool videos about 80s computers that I'd recommend checking out - he's also a lot better at memorizing facts and knowing things about computers than I am, lol. I'm not good at any of the technical stuff. In fact, I can't promise I'm remembering everything correctly here - I'd recommend looking into this stuff if it interests you, the boom of personal computers and technology in general in the 80s is really cool. But anyways...
Speaking of computers, the first music video to use CGI came out in 1985, that being Dire Straits' Money For Nothing. Check it out -
Tumblr media
It was even referenced in an episode of a show called ReBoot, which I'd also love to talk about, but came about in the 90s. (There was some SERIOUSLY COOL CGI in the 90s! Early CGI stuff is SO AWESOME, it's so cool to see how far it's come and to think about how awesome it must have been to see something like this when it came out!) And with MTV coming out in the 80s too (1981), this probably made a pretty great impression and, I imagine, was one of the most interesting MVs on TV at the time! It's certainly one of my favorites, and in fact, I love the song, too.
The first music video on MTV, fittingly, was Video Killed the Radio Star, presented after the channel came on air with the iconic line: "Ladies and gentlemen, rock 'n roll!"
I could ramble a lot about the music and movies of the time, especially horror and practical effects, but this post is already pretty long and totally unrelated to this blog. There were a lot of technological advancements and huge cultural impacts made in the 80s that we see and use (or at the very least see the effects of) to this day, and discoveries made and researches done, and really awesome subcultures and fashions, like trad goth and skate punk and New Romantics my beloved and, and, and-- and th. And. The. And. And. 😍💓💞💖🥰❣️💝💘💞😍💘❣️💓💘❣️💗

So in like a modern au sort of setting what would Leir and Odile’s dressing style be like? I think these reveal a lot about characters so I’m curious to know 👀
- 🌙
OOOH FUN!!!!!!!!
Leir: colour would be their signature, but as for style they'd be rather eclectic, in the sense that they'd love to mix things up and have different vibes for different occasions. Athleisure wear, indie-casual, fitted jeans + silk shirts with bold prints, cocktail/semi-formal wear for sure. Lots of jewellery, especially rings, and shimmery makeup (green/yellow/orange eyeshadows, gold eyeliner).
Odile: mostly witchcore and grunge fairycore! some alt style with goth influences (xe would stick to more elegant pieces of clothing, nothing too punk); edgy male kpop fashion with chains and b&w outfits and asymmetrical jackets. Generally sticks to dark colours or neutrals. Prefers skirts to pants. Painted nails. Dyed hair. A fan of big purses/bags where xe can fit all xyr stuff.

ESC 2022 Semifinal 2 recap:
(if you see me reusing my jokes for the final no you didn't) and once again also just a general warning for mean gay bitchy judging ahead, this is my one time a year that im mean it's like lent or smth, you have been warned. if you're not into bitchy shady opinions then uuuhhh i recommend reading something else for your own peace of mind tbh.
skits at esc still are so painful dear god opening: well that's 5 minutes of my life i'm never getting back laura's biceps HELLO???? and this look?? FAB!! the ruffles! the wet hair look!!!! the deep lip!! officially obsessed mika has now decided to be a LEMON realtor popsicle, go off i guess the presenters giving licorice rasperry lemon fantasy. or the flag of germany, i guess? if it's not in the right order don't bother me i can't read the fucking clock correctly it's nothing personnel
Finland - what the fuck is this yellow IT moment??  i either end up super biased for finland or holding them to a higher standard and this time uuuuhh i expected better. also i don't think a song about a toxic woman who clearly isn't good for you is particularly feminist (idk if they claimed it was or if it's just my announcer but???? nor using a kind of degrading word in that context? so that's kinda weird) also i'm curious to see if the board is unhappy with this one bc i heard that they had issues with albania and latvia ( :// ) and while i obviously don't want any numbers punished or censored but i'm expecting an annoying double standard tbh where showing skin and suggestive text is fine if you're a man or doing it through a male perspective, i guess :/
Serbia - i wish i could understand the text so i could know what's happening but i also appreciate the non-english. it seems so interesting and fascinating, generally im confused but interested and intrigued, ART. genuinely so into this
Azerbaijan - i really do like his voice and his beard is very pretty. and i do really like this song tbh, it gets the ballad pass although it's just barely not quite engaging enough for eurovision imo. a fantastic vocal performance tho that sounds genuinely sincere and a good song.
Georgia - i fucking love this, ngl. the looks, the sound, the aesthetic. love how odd it sounds. totally a dnd party vibes. we've got officer druid, punk pirate man, glam goth plague doctor, and steampunk willy wonka. this is a psychadelic mess and i'm living
Malta - ig model? doing a power ballad? groundbreaking. *insert miranda presley*
San Marino - love the cowboy hat moment. the song is absolute ass. i do respect rhyming cowboy with sex toy i suppose. bit hypocritical for me to say this and obvs måneskin doesn't own rock gender fuckery (hello, have you SEEN rock?) and it could just be being yourself and trying to piggyback for that purpose but it feels just. a little too derivative maybe. but like a soft derivative, i don't think it's anything worth making some hubbub about
Australia - okay ART. the met gala could NEVER. it's personal, it's honest, it's art, it's fashion, it's vocals, it's real, it gets a ballad pass any fucking day from me. i'm THROWING ballad passes. legit love it genuinely love everything, it's art, it's fantastic, and i fucking love that the song's about his experiences as an autisic person, bc relate. one of my favs now
Cyprus - okay art reference, go off venus! kinda love it with the stage fountains. obviously not the most over-the-top energetic but i appreciate that, still very full of life and a bop with a more lowkey energy, a whole moment tbh. lovely vocals
Ireland - esc back at it again with the pop a whole decade too dated.
North Macedonia - i legit forgot a number was on
Estonia - i usually say that i'm into folk music but not country because country's sound is just too polished and that won't be changing today
Romania - started with what might be the gayest interpretive cow milking in history, which might not seem as a particularly spectacular achievement but with all the farming in stage musicals, it is fairly impressive. i was going to say that i was into the cutout jumpsuits but the pattern is truly horrendous.
Poland - we have now arrived at my least favourite esc genre, which is man in suit on empty stage with a single spotlight and the singer's moody face agressively imposed in the background. just agressive crooning, endless belting, and high notes. not even being about water can save this song for me, which says a lot because i am a complete sucker for water songs.
Montenegro - poor girl got impaled by an umbrella, no wonder she's in pain
Belgium - i mean it's fine. he's clearly a good singer. i wouldn't be mad if it moved on, but i also don't really care if it doesn't
Sweden - i know it's moving on but i fully cannot stand it. it's trying so hard to be robyn. but no one will ever be robyn.
Czech Republic - i'm not mad at it tbh. like her look and the vaporwave inspired background. slightly less dated than a lot of other eurovision pop, giving kinda 2018. I do appreciate the man with the bow on the electric guitar
the world always needs more Mika, i've been saying this for years. also laura looks stunning it's giving decadent vampire retiring for the evening posed casually on top of a decadent staircase. I do think these kinds of songs might not be what her voice needs though, it's very strong and clear and clearly needs a bit more circumstance and force, unfortunately. Mika is giving the exact same suit but now as a polar bear realtor that fell into a strawberry patch. he really saw that suit on the clearance rack and said yeah i'll take at least three of it, thanks
I Do Not Care about these men in leather suits. a sentence i never thought i would say but here we are, i suppose
Laura serving an even more dimitrescu-esque look i love
Spain - yeah it's a dance song. you can do a lil shimmy. don't super care. for being as energetic as it is it feels weirdly lethargic
UK - well we've got a camp stage, i am stealing his jumpsuit.
Germany - looking forward to another german bottom placement, this is tanking for sure.
Voting thoths: "We have a valid result" yeah we'll see about that buddy
my literal reaction to belgium's qualification was 'who the fuck is belgium' LMAOO azerbaijan may not be the most eurovision but it might be one of the actual best songs this year POLAND????? finland?? finland gets a spot but latvia didn't????? RIGGORY.. thamkg god australia made it because i would have rioted ugh serbia is art and im happy to see it here, so deserved!!! very sad about georgia. was kinda expecting it, but i'm still upset. i am def checking out their other stuff after this tho.
For sure rooting for australia this year! <333 This one was less of a tragedy so i won't have too much trouble falling asleep tonight, even if a lot of things moved on that certainly did not catch my attention at all.

My turn to subject you to The Mortifying Ordeal Of Being Known:
In both art and writing, you seem to have taken inspiration from Monster High, Bratz, Equestria Girls, Barbie and probably some other stuff in that realm that I can't recall because I wasn't in that sphere growing up, plus the more obvious Magical Girl inspiration. In fact, I feel like every character in Power of Rock is a bit of a homage to each one of these, both separately and in general. I don't know enough about any of it to pinpoint with precision, though.
but I'll take a wild guess and say your favourite EqG movie is Rainbow Rocks, followed by the Legend of Everfree.
You're spot on, especially about Rainbow Rocks! In fact, Power of Rock arose from an mlp fanfic I'd been kicking around since I was 11 years old! Now, as I talk about this, please bear in mind I've been developing this story since middle school so things get kinda wacky.. Star started out as Twilight and Sky started out as Rainbow Dash. The rest of the characters have nothing to do with mlp, unless you count Crescent being partially inspired by a friend I had in middle school with whom we bonded over our shared mlp hyperfixation. I see how one could interpret her as Pinkie Pie though.
Rainbow Rocks in particular was a gigantic inspiration! I fixated really really hard on it when it came out, partially because I had a major crush on all of the Dazzlings plus human!Rainbow Dash and partially because that's when I was getting really into rock music. I'd listen to music and always imagine my in-name-only fanfic versions of The Rainbooms playing the songs and casting spells with their instruments. I was so enchanted by the concept and at that point had realized that the thing I'd created was so far removed from mlp that I scrapped the mlp angle entirely and zeroed in on the rock band element.
Star originally arose as me realizing that Twilight had an incredibly privileged upbringing and thinking that it'd be funny if she acted like a spoiled brat that was full of herself. By the time she became Star, I'd fleshed her out way more and softened her up to be less arrogant and more confident in an endearing way. Aesthetically, she takes the most from the influences you brought up, especially Bratz and Barbie!
Sky is a subject I'm gonna have to tiptoe around because the only thing that ever stayed consistent about her is also a spoiler. But although the logic behind how Rainbow Dash became Sky seems pretty straightforward, I promise you the story is wild and insane and omg I'm honestly shocked that I was able to make Sky into a good character 'cause... omg I don't even know where to start haha. To give a taste of what she was like when her name was Rainbow Dash, I'll say she got infused with demon blood as a child and it ~haunted~ her afterwards and she was ~sooo angsty~ about it. And then I removed all demon stuff from the story along with pony stuff and decided to tone things down by making her a vampire instead (because vampires are cool, something Monster High convinced me of!). But with the demon stuff also left her ~tragic backstory~ that I'd based her entire character around and after losing that I realized I was left with nothing that made her interesting. Then I listened to Escape From the City from SA2 and thought, "hey, Sonic is a cool and endearing character, what if I inserted a little of his rebellious spirit into Sky?" And then her current backstory sprouted from that point and shaped her further into a far more distinct character that I love writing for. She's naturally the most Monster High inspired character in terms of aesthetics but I also drew from punk and pastel goth fashion for her.
The rest of the main characters are heavily retooled transplants from a scrapped WIP of mine, complete with visual redesigns inspired by all the influences you listed!
I tend to consume a lot of children's media like the ones you brought up, plus kidcoms like Hannah Montana and iCarly, and I wouldn't be surprised if that influenced my writing style, especially dialogue.
The stories I could TELL about how Power of Rock came to be, my goodness! And the art... oh god the art........ I drew some bomb outfits from when they were still the Humane Six but my anatomy was AWFUL so I'm unsure if they'll ever see the light of day.
You're right about Rainbow Rocks being my fave EG movie, in fact it may be one of my favorite mlp things period because of what it's led to in my life! Shine Like Rainbows is enough to move me to tears. My second fave is actually the first one, for nostalgia reasons. Legend of Everfree I only watched once but I should give it another look!

Ryuk/Reader 3: Confident
A/N: I don’t know if I like this one. Reader is more evidently female as these progress. Should I post these on AO3? They’re not linear so I’m hesitant to do it.
He was lying on his side on the couch, head propped up by one hand. The furniture you could afford was small and if he stretched out to his full size, Ryuk would’ve hung off both ends by a generous amount. It was far better than constantly laying on the ground, and that stupid rug, though.
The god reached out with one lanky arm, poking at the coffee table in front until he got a good grasp of the remote and began channel-surfing. The door to your bedroom creaking open made his ears perk.
“You’re gonna come out?” He twitched, but otherwise remained at rest. Your footfalls sounded against the dingy floor as you moved behind him.
“I would never keep a mirror in my bedroom.” You puffed away a few strands of errant hair as you marched over to the bathroom and turned on the light. You squinted, half to brace against the harsh light and half to keep from actually looking at your reflection.
“You think the first thing I wanna see in the morning is myself?” You asked incredulously.
It had the intended effect of making your shinigami laugh, and you took a second to smile at your accomplishment.
“Better’n seein’ me hangin’ over you, I’ll bet.” He called from the other side of the room.
You saw yourself in the mirror.
“I hate this. I hate clothes.” Not a fact at all. You’d garnered a renewed interest in fashion back in school. You’d also been thinking about clothing a lot more since your new companion had “appeared” and never left your side. His image was a constant in your mind, regardless of the rules of possession.
No one quite looked like Ryuk, nothing ordinary anyway. But then when you looked at horror-themed art and monsters from folklore, it stuck out to you that nothing dressed like him, either.
Which was a damn shame, to be honest. You’d have never expected the grim reaper to be dressed like a goth punk from the 1980s, with leather and chains and shiny jewelry. That didn’t mean it wasn’t a fascinating idea.
Fascinating enough to push you into spending the weekend looking for new things to wear, a particular theme in mind. It made you nervous, but it was easy to engage Ryuk when you reminded him that the mall had a Gamestop as well as boring clothes.
Now, you sighed. “This was such a waste of time. Why did I even do this?”
Lifting himself up by the back of the couch, Ryuk peered over the edge of the side. Nothing on TV, never was anything on TV.
Still, he was already regretting getting up from his previous position, as the light from your bathroom was too much in the otherwise dim apartment.
He opened his mouth, ready to tell you to quit whining, to put this off until tomorrow in broad daylight. But he stopped short.
You were in front of the mirror, leaning on the countertop and over the sink with a worried expression on your face. With your back turned to the shinigami, however, he was quick to divert his gaze from your face to your backside.
It wasn’t as if Ryuk had never seen you in a dress before, but nothing you ever wore was quite so… short. Not like this. The length of the skirt was just shy of your mid-thigh; if you were to lean over any further, he’d be able to see your panties no problem.
Regardless of your attempts at modesty - often changing behind your bedroom door or in the bathroom after demanding he wait outside - Ryuk had seen your undergarments. You could get careless; messy. Laundry was sometimes strewn on the floor, and when you got up in the morning, he almost always caught a glimpse of your underwear before you pulled on your pajama bottoms.
“The blankets are warm enough by themselves, don’t need pants.” You’d said once, so easily embarrassed.
This was different, though. You were too distracted to be on the defensive. Instead, you leaned forward even further, adjusting the front of your all-black outfit and revealing more of your soft skin. No trousers or leggings covered your legs, leaving you bare and showing how shapely you were.
There were white and green stripes briefly visible, hugging your bottom beneath the skirt before you straightened up.
You’d finally noticed him gawking, and your face went flush.
You turned around, still gripping the counter with one hand to keep steady. “It’s not the worst thing you’ve ever seen, is it?”
He’d had enough time to shift his pointed gaze from your rear up to your face. But the pout on your lips at his continued silence made Ryuk draw in a ragged breath. He rose from his seat and stretched a leg over the sofa like it was nothing, before looming over to get a closer look at you.
With your head craned back, looking up from your lashes at him expectantly and giving him a look at the extra little things you’d done. Your lips were glossy and your eyelids were the color of ash, and there was blood rising beneath your cheeks to emphasize it all. A little chain hung around your neck, basic and silver but complimenting how shiny you’d become.
He reached for you. His claws touched the hem of your dress, dipping beneath ever so slightly so that he could feel the warmth radiating from you. He hadn’t eaten for hours, but Ryuk swallowed back a mouthful of saliva as if he was holding back.
“Ngh.” Was his eloquent reply.
You blinked up at him, head cocking to the side in confusion. It looked so genuine, but it couldn’t possibly be. You were acting, joking - you had to be fucking with him.
His personal shyness wasn’t a secret by any means. By all the punishments known to his kind, he’d had such a hard time getting used to just being touched by you. Now you were here, looking sweet enough to eat.
The rumbling in Ryuk’s chest took time to build up into a laugh, like the starting of an engine or revving of a motor. It startled you into jumping back, away from his frame as it began to shake.
“You’re a real riot, kid.” His cackling was hollow.
But any falseness or dry sarcasm escaped you as you scoffed at him, fully offended. “Oh, I’m glad this is hilarious to you, too.”
Ryuk stopped eventually, and mimicked your prior head tilting. “Aww, come on. Don’t do that.”
The familiar grin on his face was stretched tight, but you barely noticed.
“Do what?” You grumbled, looking away.
As with his reaching for you from before, the spindly fingers that came to tip your face toward him again did not startle you so much as confuse you. You could feel his nails resting under your jaw carefully, even as you were focused on his eyes, far redder than you’d ever seen them before.
They were glowing as he stared at you.
“Don’t pretend to be shy, lookin’ like that.” Ryuk’s natural hunch seemed to accentuate, so close as he leaned down toward you that you could feel his words more than hear them.
He was so close, more to reiterate the irritation he felt at your attempts to remain like a deer in headlights. Ryuk couldn’t pinpoint his annoyance exactly - was it your joking that crossed the line or how pathetic you were, still pretending innocence. Or was it the frustration of seeing you now and knowing that you very well were so insecure that you couldn’t fathom being desired at all, by anyone? Or any thing, in his case.
Your lashes fluttered. “Ok… I’ll go change, then.”
You pulled away, awkwardly side-stepping the god of death. You headed back to your room, but not without noticing that Ryuk wasn’t following you.
He stood in the same spot, watching as you shut the door behind you.

Yep, two kisekae pics in one day. I normally don’t do redesigns (unless it’s for an already existing character but even then that’s rare), but I figured since I already redesigned Johnny and Jillian, why not do the rest of the Test gang?
I did this a while back and this took me three fucking days to make, and most of those days were spent on the outfits and Sissy’s hair (which was an absolute nightmare to create). Probably the worst was Sissy’s hair, since I knew I wanted her to have a mohawk but I never actually made one in Kisekae before, so yeah, that was a lot of frustration, and I would not do it again. Overall, though, I really like how these came out, and I really enjoyed making Susan’s outfit (though, coming up with it was a pain), and I especially love how Mary came out. Hard to say which one is my favorite, but I’d have to say it’s a tie between Susan, Mary, Sissy, Bumper, and Brainfreezer. Honestly, I’m just glad to post these and that these are done.
So, going from left to right and starting with her, Susan Test is pastel goth. I’m not entirely familiar with the pastel goth scene, so coming up with a look for her was hard. So I took some inspiration from these as well as some pictures on the Internet and came up with a decent look for her. Her makeup was the hardest out of all that, especially her lipstick. I really love how she came out too. As for why she decided to rebel, while she wasn’t completely bad, she definitely contributed to Johnny’s situation. She always felt bad afterwards, but she didn’t stop until she noticed Johnny’s eye bags. That was a huge kick in the pants for her and she decided to go easy on him a bit, and not bug him so much, which her sister and parents noticed. She also decided to spend some time out of the lab to get away from Mary, which meant she had a lot of free time now. One day, she saw a pastel goth boy walking around, asked him about his look, and they got to chatting which was how she was introduced to the pastel goth scene. As time went on, she thought about how badly she treated Johnny and contributed to his state, and grew to detest her parents and her sister for their treatment of him. So she decided to try and break away from that shit and began exploring the world of pastel goth as a means of finding her own identity, which is how she got to where she is now. She’s definitely a lot nicer now, and is trying to reign in her anger. She still enjoys science, she just has other interests now, including anime, ceramics, Falling In Reverse, and fanfiction.
Mary Test is I believe grunge goth. Her outfit was another hard one to come up with, because I didn’t have a general idea of what I wanted her to wear. Unlike with Susan, who I wanted to wear a fluffy skirt and knew this beforehand, I didn't really think about what I wanted Mary to wear; all I knew was I wanted her to be some kind of goth. So I took to the Internet for inspiration and came up with a relatively good look for her. I also listened to some 69 Eyes and a bit of Breaking Benjamin as I was working on her, so that helped. If I’m being honest, she actually strikes me more as a nu metaler than a goth. Still though, love how she came out, even if her outfit was a bit of a hassle to come up with.
Sissy is punk. Now Sissy was definitely the hardest to create, mostly because of her hair. While it did help that I knew ahead of time that I wanted her to have a Mohawk, I’ve also never did one in Kisekae before (they do have a Mohawk hair option, it just wasn’t what I wanted for her). So I had to do some digging on DeviantART and the Internet for a reference pic until I found a Mohawk I liked, (it’s not the actual picture I used, but it’s pretty close) and a good Kisekae picture of a character with a Mohawk so I could see what hair pieces to use. Even with that, however, it was still really complicated, and there was a lot of trial and error involved in making the Mohawk like the one in the ref I used. Eventually, after a lot of staring down at the screen and anger and frustration, Sissy’s hair was done, though I would not (and will not) do it again. Her outfit was also a pain, since I wanted to incorporate some of Sissy’s original elements in it so people would recognize her, but not as bad as her hair. I also wanted to give her some sneaker boots, but I didn’t know how to do that in Kisekae, so I turned to this so I would how to make them in the future, but the guy who made the export said they were proprietary, so...yeah. They still look relatively the same though. In the end, I am actually really happy with the end result, so all that frustration wasn’t in vain.
Bumper is power metaler. Believe it or not, he was actually the easiest one to make since power metal fashion is relatively simple. I also went off of this for help. The only hard part was his facial hair. I was originally gonna make Bumper a nu metaler, but then for some reason I decided on power metal. The only downside is he kind of looks like a ginger Skwisgaar Skwigelf. On the other hand, look at that long flowing hair, god it’s glorious. 😩👌 And yes, he did lose weight and hit a growth spurt.
Bling Bling Boy, or Eugene, is classic heavy metaler. I think. He was another easy one to make because I knew ahead of time that I wanted him to have attire similar to Judas Priest or what Rob Halford wears and wore when he was younger. Nothing too complicated, just looked up some pictures of Judas Priest for a better idea and I was good to go. And yes, like Bumper, Bling Bling Boy lost some weight.
Last but not least, Brainfreezer is goth. I knew ahead of time that I wanted him to be goth, and I was originally gonna use his original goth outfit from Johnnycicle, but then I decided to spare myself the migraine and give him a more original look. I decided to go for a more Victorian style goth combined with bits of modern goth to create this, and while I did have a hard time coming up with he outfit, it was still easier than if I had stuck with his original one. I also gave him black to seal the look and a snowflake necklace so people would still recognize him.
In the end, I’m glad these came out well and hopefully you guys like them too.
The sneaker boots used in Sissy’s outfit belong to Meet-The-Real-Me on DeviantART
The jean tear that’s used in Sissy’s outfit belongs to Idessa on DeviantART
The leather jacket that’s used in Bling Bling Boy and Brainfreezer’s outfits belongs to SoullessIceDreamer on DeviantART.

I'm sorry, but as someone who belongs to and participates in an actual subculture, I can't take (Western?) fandom seriously.
I'm not saying alt subcultures are perfect by any means. I'm a goth and I could write and maybe have written whole essays on the bullshit within it, but even with all the racism, misogyny, performative liberalism and such (which are also present in fandom lol), there's just no comparison.
Alternative subcultures, as Problematic as they can be, are ALL about creating something new. I mean, not NEW new, we all come from somewhere, take inspiration, goth came directly from British punk, and pretty much none of the alt subcultures that were started since the 20th century would exist without Black culture, BUT... Guys, the goth subculture equivalent of fanfiction is a song cover.
Sure, lots of goth bands have released covers in order to get popular. Bauhaus themselves did it and they're one of the OG bands, but unless you're a tribute band (which literally only get as famous as they're able to be exact copies of the band they're imitating), no band considers themselves a real band if they haven't at least written original songs, most don't feel like a real one until they release studio recordings or play some live shows. Even those covers they make to get their names around get the eye roll if they don't add anything new and genuinely theirs to it.
Goths who're not musicians ourselves, first of all, don't think we're on Monica Richards' or Peter Murphy's level just because we sing THEIR songs half decently in the shower, like fanfic freaks (normal people who do fanfic excempt) who think their poorly written multichapter slowburn copycat romance is on the same level as Dante's Inferno or Paradise Lost.
Second, even if we're not musicians, we expect of each other to do something. Something original. I mean, people whose LOOKS are carbon copies of some other goth, famous or not, get eye rolled too, you know? This past decade things were a little different in that regard thanks to posers and Capitalism™, but other than that, we actually take offense when someone else copies the individual elements OF OUR FUCKING LOOKS that we cultivated to differentiate ourselves from other goths.
That's why DIY is so big in our subculture, why most of us practice SOME sort of creative hobby (music, writing, painting, clothes making, DJing, design, sculpting, etc) even if we suck at them. At least we try to do something that is completely ours rather than just redrawing a Victoria Francés illustration, changing the color of a dress, and publishing it as ours.
Shit, even our "elders" have no comparison. Fandom "elders" are rarely older than in their 40s, and most of the time they're fucking creeps who dedicate their lives to fictional characters decades younger than them and interact with younger fans in very inappropriate ways. There's asshole elder goths too, but our subculture generates so much genuine personal passion and sense of community, that we don't even consider it a YOUTH subculture anymore.
Our elders are ACTUALLY old. I'm talking people who were there since it started in the late 70s/early 80s as teens or early 20-somethings and are STILL goths. There's goths in their 60s nearing their 70s. And the reason we look up to them isn't just that they're weirdo predatory adults who intimidate or groom us into worshipping them. We look up to them because they've gathered knowledge through up to 4 decades of experience. They saw Bauhaus live before they broke up, they were in a tiny local band that opened for a bigger iconic one so they met them PERSONALLY, they keep relics from decades past, they witnessed our history.
Most importantly, they fought tooth and nail for our subculture to keep thriving not by being self-entitled weirdos pressuring others into validating their everything online, but by archiving ancient zines, keeping recordings of obscure bands who only played one live show before disbanding, passing on their knowledge to younger goths in person or online. They put their own money not into the pockets of big media corporations that don't need to make more billions than they already make, but into the pockets of struggling artists, bars, nightclubs, independent fashion designers, and their communities as a whole. That's why we respect them.
And ykw? I think that's the reason most fandom weirdos don't stick to fandoms for a long time, except for a few who cling to one or two but keep the rest rotating, and why most fandom "elders" aren't older than 40.
A show or movie series ends at some point and most creatives don't stretch them for decades on. Obviously they try to milk them as much as they can but if a story ended then it's over and there's only so much of the same repetitive fanfiction you can consume before you burn out and have nothing left to get your hands on. There's no community, yet you identify with a piece of media at the same level as you do your idk, college majors, star sign and shit.
You don't see me identifying as a Requiem in White fan on my description, I identify as a goth because I'm identifying with a history, a community I've interacted with in person, an ever growing body of new and old art and music, and wear my personal version of the uniform which I didn't buy ready to wear, but is the result of an effort of slowly building a wardrobe since 2007, that I've had to experiment with, play with, and each have their own personal stories attached to it. I mean, I remember EXACTLY what I was wearing when some Evangelical ladies sprinkled holy water on me in early 2008 and I still own those clothes, jewelry and shoes lol.
Fandom identity is, to me, only based on capitalist consumerism as identity and yeah, capitalism has clawed at my subculture especially during the 2010s, but it exists outside of that and it's so much more than buying shit, over-streaming songs to inflate an artist's performance, or taking something someone else created, slapping one sticker on it and calling it ours. My subculture can ACTUALLY politically organize, as can others (punk most notably), you know? Including organizing in rejection to the capitalist fast fashion that almost wrecked us this past decade.
All subcultures have some level of ideology attached to them (for better or for worse, sadly), and it's ideology most of us are passionate about. Goths have always been notorious for androgyny, and all forms of gender defiance are normalized and encouraged. A lot of us pay our respects to our punk roots of anti-capitalism. We don't believe in forced unhealthy positivity, we're less afraid of taboos, we appreciate eccentricity and oddity many times as an active choice against established norms, we find solace and home in what general society finds creepy or threatening...
What similar thing does fandom have beyond campaigning for Johnlock to hold hands or going to pride with some creepy yaoi sign? You guys aren't even good at fighting real bigotry within your spaces unless you're personally affected by them.
It's laughable tbh. I can't take fandom seriously at all, and I don't get how so many people can treat something so empty as if it was sacred.

A/W 2020 Fashion Month: Before Vogue Went Blank
Hi to anyone reading,
I’m sorry this post is so late! I really have no excuse apart from all my mental energy being taken up by shooting and editing my Euphoria lookbook up until now and me being too much of a lazy, nap-loving twat to face the mammoth task of a fashion month review; honestly, by the time it’s done, it’s like a dissertation-level amount of characters, so let’s say the final push to get this out is in sympathy with all my 3rd year friends I started uni with finishing their ACTUAL dissertations.
Tumblr media
Things have got scary since I originally started saving the photos for this post, and the world has been turned upside down. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the likes of which have not been seen since the Spanish Flu, Italian Vogue’s April cover was blank. As I’m writing this, 26,000+ people have died of coronavirus in Italy, the worst affected country behind the U.S in terms of sheer numbers ( though quick update: as I post this, I’m pretty sure our incompetent prick of a PM has made sure we’re up there too). Proportionally, the actual death rate is even higher, along with a handful of other European countries. There have been some complaints made about the cover and it’s supposed “lack of imagination”; all I know is that in a country whose death toll accounts for 10% of worldwide coronavirus deaths, something of a visual silence feels appropriate.
That being said, for me, writing is one of the only things giving me a sense of purpose right now. Yeah, surprise surprise, working in a grocery store isn’t all that fulfilling. Who would’ve thought it? So what better time to reflect on a time when all the rich people of the world were going about their lives as usual and sitting front row at fashion week rather than crying on Instagram live to their millions of followers about how trapped they feel in their 10 bedroom mansions.
I’ve got to say, this year’s A/W offerings were a lot better than I expected, mostly due to the fact that I’m not generally a big fan of winter fashion; it’s hard to be disappointed given my preconceptions! There’s only so many knits and coats and jeans you can see before it begins to get a bit tiring, and I expected that to be reflected in the presentations. Fortunately, even the brands which are known for their bohemian, Coachella-esque collections generally managed to translate that into something recognisable and consistent on the runway whilst actually being weather appropriate. Of course, there were a few disappointments-I’m sure if I say one of them begins with D, you can guess which brand I’m talking about-but that was more than made up for by the standouts. Gucci in particular was my 2013 Tumblr wet dream and the Moschino show was what I can only describe as a live continuation of Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette, though I’ll stop with my praise there and wait til I get to actually reviewing before I go overboard with kissing Alessandro Michele’s ass. And on that note, in chronological order, I’ll get one with the reviews! First up, Acne:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Continuing on a winning streak when it comes to catering to my personal preferences (if someone tries to tell me designers don’t care about my personal preferences I’m going to whack out that “just found out the world doesn’t revolve around me, shocked and upset” Marina Diamandis tweet), Acne once again channels futuristic hippy commune living in a dystopian wasteland. I know, those are very specific personal preferences
I love the shredded hems and the burnt velvet, the rawness of it all, and the baroque/your-nan’s-wallpaper patterns are actually a surprisingly nice touch. I imagine if Giselle from Enchanted had to make her dresses out of a thrifty goth’s curtains rather than an upper-middle-class New Yorker’s, they’d look something like this collection. You’ve even got the odd bit of classic fresh Scandi tailoring in there with the oversized coats and blazers which holds it back from being a bit TOO flea market. Plus, the renaissance painting detailing on the black leather-look coat is a stunning detail as well; I’m so glad it seems this trend is here to stay, why wouldn’t I want random nude bodies all over my clothes?
As for the styling, I can’t get enough of the tousled hair. As an eternally tired person who can't be arsed to pick up a brush most of the time, I feel represented. Along with the outfits, it says “I’m an art student/transient painter in the 70s living in a city loft who smokes a lot of weed and does acid on the regular” and that is a life worth manifesting.

Alberta Ferretti was dreamy, and a perfect example of how to translate the bohemian aesthetic of their S/S show to A/W. Somehow despite the furs, ruffles (pussy-bows under tailored jackets and knits/generally heavier pieces always looks really chic imo), tulle, metallic tapestry style prints and chunky jewellery, it all still looks very effortless, like a natural continuation of what we saw last summer; the typically masculine structure of the oversized suits with the ornate patterns and the accessories lends to the careful navigation along the line where maximalism and minimalism meet, the looks as practical as they are decorative. Picture it: you work some high-flying, powerful job in the city, commute on a motor cycle and roll up in one of these suit sets. This collection is for the edgy businesswoman who is completely comfortable telling all the twattish males she works with where to stick it and I want to be her.
The evening gowns are, of course, stunning too. In this analogy where I am a powerful businesswoman and not a pushover who works at a grocery store right now and only beefs with rude customers, I would be wearing one of them to the boujie work Christmas party. The ruffled dresses remind me of something Valentino would put out with the colour palette and the ruffles, and whilst we’re on the topic of colour palettes, this one is beautiful. The lilac and hot pink is SO right.

Though predictable, Alessandra Rich is just as much of a treat as usual, the first brand you’d go to if you were styling a throwback it-girl, Chanel Oberlin in Scream Queens if it took place 30 years earlier. Reminiscent of an amalgamation of vintage Chanel and Versace, there are so many cute details I love here, from the white tights with the black heels and the double breasted blazers to the gold chainlink belts and the pearls. The tartan suits with the shoulder padding are very Heathers, the prints the best of your mum’s 80s wardrobe, and nobody else out there is doing bows as well as this; these are the outfits that prissy bitch wears in the cartoons of my childhood that turn out to actually be quite good fashion inspo 15 years later, Trixie Tang from Fairly Odd Parents I’m looking at you.
Tumblr media
This girl was the blueprint.
I think someone like Lilly Collins or Daphne Groeneveld would be an ideal fit for any of these looks, or Lana Del Rey if she wanted to stop serving us middle-aged suburban soccer mom and took us back to those H&M ad campaign days. Lana stans please don’t come for me for saying that, I am one of you; I say this because I love her. It’s all altruistic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whilst I admittedly didn’t love it as much as last summer’s, I really enjoyed the Alexander McQueen collection too, plus I had a better idea of what to expect this time round; no, we’re not gonna get a repeat of the Plato’s Atlantis show but we do always get some beautiful pieces. Again, like with Alberta Ferretti, this seems like a natural continuation of what we saw in the summer, just with adjustments made for the colder, darker, and altogether moodier months. A/W being the gothier older sister of S/S, it seems right that a lot of the looks turn their back on the ethereal, almost fairy-like feel of what we saw before and embrace the vampier side, reds and blacks (the ultimate Bratz Rock Angels colour combination), plenty of dramatic structures and formidable suit sets. It’s punk but it’s classy, and even with the lighter pieces, we’ve got the grunge inspired harnesses on top to contrast with the elegance and effectively, toughen the whole look up, something Gucci does well too.
The patterned suits with the clunky boots in particular are very cool and I need a gun metal grey heart detailing harness, but undoubtedly the MOMENT of this collection is Adut Akech in what appears to be a silver chainmail dress. She looks like an Amazonian goddess, and whilst I could never dream of pulling something like that off myself, I could happily admire her in it for hours.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There wasn’t much to get excited about at Altuzarra. The collection was very elegant for sure and the feathered belts are cute but it was all quite pedestrian and nothing new-the only detail I really like is the cut out on the second dress from the left, 3rd row down.
As for Anna Sui:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m not altogether sure why I wanted to review it. A lot of the outfits as a whole are a bit messy, and not in that avant-garde, expensive-looking Margiela kind of way, just in a “how many fabrics can we possibly get on this model” kind of way. Plus, the styling seems weirdly outdated-a lot of the jewellery looks like the kind of thing you’d see if you searched “gothic choker” on Ebay and ordered the results from low to high, and the makeup and hair in particular is very 2012 Tumblr fashion blogger. Backcombed hair and red lipstick? We’ve got a Zoella thumbnail on our hands.
When the collection did go down the bohemian route though (and when that route wasn’t a failed attempt at what Etro does a lot better), there were a few nice pieces and prints. I mean you really can’t go wrong with a teal fur trimmed coat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ashish, on the other hand, took their aesthetic from a similar era and did it a lot more creatively and kookily; this collection looks a lot more deserving of being on a runway. The prints are so loud and costume-y that at times the garments risk looking like something you’d wear at a decades themed dress up party, but they’re saved by understated and much more commercial silhouettes, plus some gorgeous hair and make up. On the whole, very groovy, unintentional disco queen, despite the few risks that didn’t quite pay off.
Next is a brand I always look forward to. In the words of Myrtle Snow:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
BALENCIAGA!
Seriously though, if any brand knows how to blend costume and high fashion, it’s them. They take over-the-top, almost absurd silhouettes and turn them into theatre. This year we’re taking it in the direction of Phantom of the Opera, I guess? Dracula? The Woman in Black? An off-broadway production of Harry Potter where Snape is the protagonist? Whatever the direction of the collection is, I live for the dramatics of it all. Demna Gvasalia got these models walkin’ down the runway like they’re members of the Volutri, which is a reference you should all understand given the renaissance Twilight is having online atm.
Straight off the bat, I adore the staging, and all the models are exquisite-the theme of the show was climate change, and I always love when there’s a story behind the presentation of the clothes. I can’t imagine how amazing this must have been to witness in person, though I’m guessing equal parts mystical and intimidating. There are so many things I love here: billowing coats, cinched in waists, the pattens that are sprinkled sparingly in amongst the black, and the bloody shoulder pads that almost run PARALLEL to the model’s necks. This is really a collection that Myrtle Snow would be proud of and brb whilst I get rid of my padlock necklaces in favour of putting whatever meagre amount I can get for them on Depop towards a Balenciaga padlock belt (as if, lol, I don’t even think selling my soul would cover it).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then there’s Balmain, which isn’t always the fashion critic’s favourite, but which I do tend to like.
I mean there are some really good takeaways here-though the 80s inspired suit, as wearable as they are, can get a little repetitive, they are staples which here seem to pave the way for Olivier Rousteing to try something new for the brand. The moulded breast plates (reminiscent of the Tom Ford one Zendaya wore though I’m not sure which came first!), for example, along with the Matador-style capes and the flowing silk dresses are the most glamorous incarnation of Lara Croft one can possibly imagine, probably just as equally suited for a Roman goddess as they are for an Assassins Creed style action heroine. And yes, I am aware of the fact that Tomb Raider and Assassins Creed are two separate games, okay!  I just don’t know enough about the visuals of either to firmly plant this collection in the camp of either one, so I’m going down the crossover route with it!
Not to say there weren’t any bad choices-I omitted a good portion of the looks that were shown; there were definitely pieces that I found to be a little tacky, particularly a recurring chain print which has got to be one of my least favourite patterns out there. Overall, though, it’s gonna be the richly coloured art-deco prints, the wet-look boots and the gem-encrusted scorpion brooch which stick with me, so I’ll let it slide.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bottega Veneta was very meh; even of the looks I picked out, there are a lot I’m now looking back at and wishing I hadn’t included. Some of the men’s pieces are nice, sure, and I feel like one of those vaguely sick, victorian ghost looking male celebrities everyone obsesses over (Timothée Chalamet and Dane DeHaan I’m looking at you) would make those suits on the second row look fine af, but it’s mostly the womenswear that I’m here for and on this occasion it wasn’t great. A couple of the coats are nice and that’s about it. Like I really had to act as if the tassels weren’t there on a lot of the clothes and go from there because I really don’t like them in this context and if I was to veto looks purely on one of the garments having tassels, there’d be nothing to show or reference when giving my opinion on the show. They were EVERYWHERE. In a summer collection, done right, they can be a nice detail but here they just feel unnecessary and if I’m being honest, are quite ugly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thank god for Brock taking the sour Bottega Veneta tassel taste out of my mouth. Never a let down. Literally, everything they put out sends me into a daze of imagining I’m in some romantic drama wearing one of the pieces, in a man’s idea of “no makeup”, running round in a field looking forlorn and windswept because my ghostly lover has-
Okay, you get the picture. I’ve never read Wuthering Heights, but it goes something like that, right? If not, lets just say envisioning myself in any of these catapults me straight into some period drama where I’m born into wealth and sit by my mansion window looking sad all the time and writing poetry and lusting over some stuffy upper-class man I can’t have and who is probably played by Colin Firth because I’m pretty sure that’s what happens in most of them (about to enrage my future English lit undergraduate sister with that line).
Nobody does modest, muted sexy to such a masterful degree. I mean, when Maison Marigela did face veils I was just mildly afraid, but here they’re subtle enough that they’re quite beautiful and almost other-worldly, acting as some kind of boundary between this world and the past that Brock aims to recapture through its designs-the red lip popping out from underneath is a perfect touch too. I don’t like it AS much as the summer collection but I would say that’s solely on the basis of the more autumn/winter appropriate colour scheme and the heavier fits, which is just a personal preference. I mean, I’m usually not a fan of empire waistlines at all and Brock even manages to make that work.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Burberry this season was a real mixed bag, mostly due to the styling. There are some really gorgeous, London back alley vintage shop looking pieces, especially the 70s style coats, reminiscent of outerwear a slimy record exec would've worn back in the day repurposed by someone like Alexa Chung or Zoe Kravitz or whichever effortlessly cool woman it is we all want to be-also the private boy’s school rugby gear looking shit is classic Burberry and I’m a fan of that, even though it’s not the most inventive or exciting. I just don’t get why there had to be SO much ill-fitting plaid over ill-fitting plaid. Again, like with Bottega Veneta, I thought the menswear was a lot stronger; whilst I wasn’t really wowed by anything, it seemed a lot less forced, whereas a few of the womenswear looks gave me the vibe of a design team desperately grasping onto some ill-conceived ideas of street style and relevancy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The design team at Carolina Herrera for example, know their niche. They never try to be something they’re not, always sublimely preppy and pretty and predictable-when it comes to target market, the bag is reliably secured. Laid- back princess dresses never get old for those constantly “summering” in one expensive coastal town or another, for the rich American moms attending charity galas and the Spencer Hastings and Blair Waldorfs of the world; women with glossy hair and fresh faces who act as if they woke up looking like that polished but are actually anal as hell and take 2 hours to get ready and would NEVER, I repeat NEVER, shit in a public toilet.
Yes, I managed to worm toilet habits into a review of a Carolina Herrera collection. I’m sorry. Enough with the pearl clutching.
Next is Celine:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean, when there are THIS many looks, it’s hard not to find something you like, and though VERY predictable and verging on lazy when you’re putting out the same shit every collection, Celine’s aesthetic is so similar to my own ideal style, it’s hard to be mad at it. That being said, a lot of the pieces, as per usual, came across as cheap YSL knock offs; the overall outfits are cute, but the more you look at the details-it particularly pained me to include a metal bow belt and an ill-fitting velvet skater skirt but I liked the rest of the outfits-the worse it gets. Please, PLEASE someone drive it home to Hedi Slimane, I’m begging you: QUALITY NOT QUANTITY. I get what he’s going for, 70s hipster Jane Birkin is a vision I can very much get behind, but not when it seems to be so rushed.
With the men’s looks, you can get away with it a lot more; when so much of menswear is so plain and unchanging, the slightest hint of Mick Jagger is enough to make a outfit edgy. But even then, I still feel like we’re seeing a load of variations of the same outfit. There are always some pieces that catch my eye, this time round the capes and the velvet blazers, and I would wear most of these things, sure, however I don’t think the combinations SHOULD necessarily look like something I’d personally put together; a runway collection is supposed to be aspirational and cutting edge, not pedestrian (entirely intentional self-drag, lol). Also, side note, the lack of diversity really bothered me. 111 looks and not one of these models has a body type that is naturally achievable for most people. It’s 2020 for fuck’s sake. I’m tired.
SO, let’s liven things up a bit with the Central Saint Martins collection, a breath of fresh air in terms of diversity (though a few more plus-size models would be nice):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a former University of London student, I hate to heap praise upon them. If you’ve studied in London as well, you’ll know CSM students are ANNOYING. I mean, I’m sure they’re lovely as individuals but you can’t fully understand the meaning of the word pretentious until you’ve seen a group of them at a Uniqlo Tate Late. That being said, they are very good at what they do and I’m so glad that Vogue Runway includes them; this is what Off-White thinks it is, and really it makes sense that a bunch of current fashion students are able to come together to present one of the most experimental and forward-thinking shows of this season.
And let’s talk about the RANGE. From catsuits worthy of comic book heroes to  dresses Twiggy would’ve worn in a 1960s editorial, every subgenre of fashion has been fully delved into here. Whilst we’ve got the adrogyny of the suits and suspenders combo and kitschy gender-bending co-ords David Bowie would be proud of, at the other end of the scale we’ve also got models walking down the runway dressed like wood nymphs or some other kind of siren-like creatures. There’s looks that wouldn’t be out of place in a Gucci or Come Des Garcons collection but at that same time would be equally at home in a Berlin techno club.
Honestly, credit where credit’s due-it was a really interesting show and I wouldn’t expect anything less.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chanel was quite literally the polar opposite of the CSM show.
Very blah.
It’s crazy because before you properly get INTO fashion, Chanel is like the epitome of style. And then you do, and you see the runway shows get lazier and lazier (with some exceptions) every year, and you realise that same prestige that had you aware of Chanel at the age of 7 or 8 is literally all that’s keeping the brand going at this point. I’m not saying the collection is flat out ugly, a lot of it’s cute, but you’re CHANEL for fuck’s sake. Yeah, I like the crucifixes but SCALLOPED HEMS!? No. I do NOT recall travelling back in time to witness Primark’s Spring 2013 collection on the runway and I am NOT having it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s not at all surprising that a lot of the time newer brands Charlotte Knowles (above) tend to be more interesting than those more established-and yes that was a Chanel indirect if the transition wasn’t obvious.
With no room to rest on laurels or reputation, everything has to be bolder and smarter and more distinctive and most importantly, has to appeal to its target market with the fervour of an L.A sign spinner. I only found out about Charlotte Knowles because of a Vogue article citing her as Bella Hadid’s new favourite brand to wear, and once I saw the collection, it was clear why; daringly modern, slick, and edgy is both her street style (say what you want about her as a model but her outfit game is unbeaten) and Knowles’ USP to a T. If Dion Lee, Off-White, GCDS and Acne had an orgy, this would be the result, and that is a GOOD compliment.
Next, Chloe:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not a huge amount to say, to be honest. Low-key, wearable, and cute. Like Emma Roberts’ Nancy Drew if she did an autumn exchange program at the Sorbonne and studied art history, libraries and coffee shops on the weekdays and galleries and protests at the weekend. On reflection, that definitely makes this collection sound more exciting than it is but there are some effortlessly beautiful pieces here. The 4th row in particular is full of stand outs-the vest with the watercolour faces on with the shirt underneath is perfection, and the burgundy suit with the saffron ruffled collar peeking out from underneath is adorable and not at all reminiscent of the Ronald McDonald inspired nightmare that any combination of red and yellow tones should theoretically be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for Christian Siriano, I see why people hate it, I really do. I understand that it seems kinda unfair to have it show the same week as Brock and Rodarte and Oscar de La Renta. We’re talking 2 very different kinds of quality here. BUT, at pure face value, his clothes are FUN, plus Coco Rocha will always have a special place in my heart as someone who lived on The Face and America’s Next Top Model and every show that could possibly give me an unhealthy body image ever.
Like are you telling me you wouldn’t wear these dresses to a party!? Live a little. They just need tailoring...which ideally would be done BEFORE the model’s walking down the runway in it but...you know...can’t have it all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Christopher Kane is a show I always look forward to.
I would say his designs are the only thing that make geometry look fun but I’m going to expose myself and admit that would be a lie because I actually found geometry really fun. Trigonometry was my shit, lol.
He is a designer who perfectly demonstrates that juggling interseasonal consistency and taking risks can be done. There’s always something DIFFERENT about his collections, fresh and subtly experimental. There are occasionally a few misses, sure, but I’d rather that than for a brand to keep playing safe, plus he never goes too far in the opposite direction either; no going weird for the sake of weird. I don’t like it AS much as the summer collection but it’s mostly because of the more muted, autumn/winter appropriate colour palette.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Comme Des Garçons? Too weird?
Never.
Honestly when it comes to a CDG collection, I have to really shift my perspective to appreciate it. I’m not looking at fashion presentation, I’m looking at a moving piece of experimental art. I know, it’s a stretch. But you know you’ll never be bored by one of their shows. Not gonna lie, this specific collection crossed the line into plain ugly a couple of times for me. We had padding so extravagant it looked like several models were walking round with Ikea pillows stuck to their chest and headdresses reminiscent of the kids’ game Headbandz. In amongst that though, we did get some gorgeous veils like the ones seen above and the shoes and socks combo is actually quite wearable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’d say Dilara Findikoglu is the cut-off point after which things get a little too avant-garde for my personal taste, and it hovers over that cut-off point flawlessly; despite the other-worldly elements of her collections, they remain somewhat grounded by nods towards conventional fashion that allow the beauty, be it inner or outer, of the wearer to shine through. Comme Des Garcons garments undeniably have character but they tend to swallow up any trace of the individual underneath, whereas the character of Dilara Findikoglu garments seamlessly merges with the wearer and in turn elevates both to something transcendent and ethereal. If the Pussycat Dolls got transported into a rugged, post-apocalyptic future, they’d scrape together these outfits to perform in, I know it; the energy of the collection, with the body jewellery and the frayed cut outs and the chalk white faces, is very warrior princess, just as raw and intimidating as it is hot as fuck, and I want that energy in my life. Along with a Dilara belt, of course. I would wear her name like a badge of honour anytime she wants. Dilara, pls pls let me be part of your tribe. PLEASE.
Anyway, this is where I thought I’d cut things off, so as to end on a positive note. You know what that means: Dior is coming up. I feel bad knowing my first post was defending Maria Grazia and yet here I am now, looking at the bar down on the floor, but I mean, you never know; maybe girl is doing this on purpose and one day she’s gonna come out with a Gucci level quality show like a phoenix from the ashes.
If you got this far, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING even if you’re just here for the pics. Part 2 will be covering some of my most anticipated shows from Elie Saab, Fendi and Etro to Gucci and Moschino, Miu Miu and Marc Jacobs, and everything in between. Yes, the shitty ones too.
I’m plowing through all the material as quick as I can so I hope to get the next post up really soon, and yes-you can count on the overwhelming sense of needing to be productive pushing me into fulfilling that statement.
Thanks again and I hope you’re well!

Goth Subculture Truths For Youngsters
Content
What Are Goths Personalities Like?
How To Be Goth.
What Does It Suggest To Be Goth?
Goth: Everything You Require To Recognize
There is much more to it than simply style and there is even more to it currently than simply the songs. Personally I position the songs ahead of fashion as well as style in importance. I think obtaining extremely academic regarding goth sort of defeats the purpose of the sub-culture. It's interesting to trace the musical and visual DNA back to its roots, but in fact taking part in the sub-culture is a much more natural process. It is a lot more comprehensive and extra inclusive than it utilized to be.
No goth only bague vancaro tete de mort listens to goth music, unless they are trying as well hard, or are a purist. If you enjoyed any type of songs before discovering goth, keep listening to it. Individuals can obtain a little outrageous regarding what makes somebody a "real" goth. Attempt to disregard this; you do not need to validate on your own. Respond to "yes," or, if you want to prevent more inquiries, state "Well, I like goth fashion" or "I such as goth songs."
This Gothic effect is accentuated even more by the fact that eyes are painted black.
Of course, the more extreme the makeup, the more eyeshadow will be used to make the eyes look more like those of a dead person.
Not only does the makeup make the face look more like a cross, but it also accentuates features that are less visible in the eyes.
For one, make sure that you are dressed in all black (no more dotting the t-shirt with black dye).
Most people who choose to get in on the goth subculture do so because they have something in common with other members.
Tristania has actually remained to succeed with subsequent releases and also has since been regarded as among the globe's best goth steel bands. The goth subculture has endured a lot longer than others of the exact same period, and also has actually continued to diversify. The band shares influences with other bands in the first wave of what is called goth music. During this duration their style was mostly referred to as scary punk or goth-punk. Outrageousness which gleam like comets through the darkness of gothic and superstitious ages.
The goth kids on the show are depicted as locating it bothersome to be confused with the Hot Subject "vampire" kids from the episode "The Ungroundable" in period 12, as well as a lot more frustrating to be compared to emo children. The goth children are typically illustrated paying attention to goth music, creating or checking out Gothic verse, drinking coffee, flipping their hair, as well as cigarette smoking. Morticia Addams from The Addams Family members developed by Charles Addams is a fictional personality as well as the mother in the Addams family members. Morticia was played by Carolyn Jones in the 1964 television program The Addams Family, and after that played by Anjelica Huston in the 1991 variation. Some of the very early gothic rock and also deathrock artists taken on traditional horror movie images and made use of horror movie soundtracks for inspiration. Their audiences reacted by adopting proper gown and also props.
What Are Goths Individualities Like?
Darkwave, a spin-off of goth rock that developed in the 80s. It incorporates aspects of synthpop and new age, integrating dark, reflective lyrics and a touch of grief. Nevertheless the term, initially starting as a post punk design, at some point became its own point as bands began to make greater use of synthesizers and drum equipments. Significant bands consist of Clan of Xymox, Dead Can Dance as well as Black Tape For a Blue Girl. Recognize the personalities and also different descendants of goth music.
Goth is not only limited to goth rock, yet consists of some post-punk, deathrock, darkwave, angelic wave, grey rock as well as afterpunk. Grey rock is the Portuguese term for post-punk/ goth rock and also afterpunk is the Spanish term.Deathrock, which is the American counterpart that developed around the very same time as goth performed in the UK. Created in Southern California, deathrock is a spooky as well as atmospheric descendant of hard rock which contains glam rock imagery, punk-inflected sound as well as perspective, shock rock theatrics as well as b-movie ideas.
Just How To Be Goth.
This often makes them open to objection as well as taunting from others. As a result, the ones that don't "suit" with other teams collaborated so they a minimum of belong somewhere. As the influence of the music press faded and similar people had the ability to collect online in online forums and on social networks, goth made a rebirth, with occasions like the Whitby Goth Weekend break increasing in appeal. By the late 80s and also 90s, goth had actually discolored as a young people society, and was the source of some ridicule by the music press. Throughout the years, goth fashion has actually taken elements from Edwardian as well as Victorian clothing, heavy steam punk, cyperpunk, go crazy, fetish wear, cosplay as well as even more. The Visigoths or goths, were an old individuals from what is now Germany as well as Scandanavia, also called barbarians, well-known for the sacking of Rome in 410 ADVERTISEMENT.
Use of standard scary movie props such as swirling smoke, rubber bats, and webs featured as gothic club decoration from the beginning in The Batcave. Such recommendations in bands' songs as well as pictures were initially tongue-in-cheek, yet as time took place, bands and also members of the subculture took the connection a lot more seriously. As a result, morbid, superordinary as well as occult themes became much more noticeably significant in the subculture. The affiliation in between scary and goth was highlighted in its early days by The Hunger, a 1983 vampire film starring David Bowie, Catherine Deneuve and also Susan Sarandon. The film included gothic rock team Bauhaus carrying out Bela Lugosi's Dead in a bar.
The Nickelodeon cartoon Invader Zim is also based on the goth subculture. As there are so many kinds of goth in the contemporary age, there is additionally several kinds of gothic style to select them! Although goths can be identified for being fans of black, it does not quit there. The birth of the light goth scene has actually produced an enormous surge in the blending of all points dark and gothic with light pastel shades. This differs substantially with the conventional charming or fetish style - both noted by attractive figure-hugging gothic corsets as well as littlelatex numbers. This reveals that there is large variation in gothic fashion when it pertains to various sorts of goth in the subcultures. Emo comes from post-hardcore, pop punk as well as indie rock design while gothic rock is a form of hard rock, glam punk and also post punk.
. Enter the regional goth scene as well as take part in goth events, nightclubs, and also performances. Meet new individuals in your scene and listen to tales from when the elders were about. Deathrock, originating on the West Shore of the U.S, deathrock is a much more scary as well as climatic variation of punk. When deathrock bands began to become prominent, as well as trip, they were after that able ahead over and directly affect the UK goth scene. Some deathrock bands include 45 Tomb, Christian Fatality, Bloody Dead and also Sexy, Alien Sex Ogre, Kommunity FK, and so on
What Does It Indicate To Be Goth?
However I such as the ordinary all black, system boots kind point. I have actually constantly wished to do this yet I would certainly be looked down upon by my household. Nonetheless, I seem like I recognize absolutely nothing of the culture itself. If I truly do wish to pursue it, I do not intend to just enjoy the design and also appearance. I need to know what it implies to all of you to be goth. I feel that if I pursue this I will be totally positive. I feel I 'd finally be comfortable with the means I look.
What is a goth club?
They are NOT mainstream.
Goth clubs are much different from regular night clubs. But most goth clubs play a variety of music like EBM, Industrial, Dark Wave, and Witch House to name a few. Most songs you will hear at Goth clubs will never be played on the radio – and that's how we like it!

Tumblr media
Let’s see why: Josuke would LOVE how you often change presentation and hair! He’s used to do his hair every day and he knows a secret of two about the art, so he’d be absolutely ok in doing your hair in every style you want! Today you want to go with a crest? Say no more. A complicate braid? Sit down and let him work. Do you want to dye it and get a particular haircut? He’s born for this. With him, your style would be in safe hands! And he’d flood you in genuine compliments. He’d not abandon his pompadour, but you can bet he’d be your number one supporter for every style you choose! He’d also appreciate a lot your love for fashion. He’d love to talk about it with you!!
Josuke would admire so MUCH your talent! Sewing is not so common, and you so it so well! And you do cosplays and draw too! He loves to admire your work, he’d also help you if you need help for a cosplay by doing your hair! And what about couple cosplays? He’d be totally on it! He’d love to do everything, if it’s with you. He loves cartoons too! He’d be glad to watch anime or cartoons with you and comment them with you! He’s also happy that you loves puppies -they’re so cute!- and not turtles -even if he’s working on it, he’s still quite terrified by them-!
He’d like both the quiet and the goofy side of you. As everyone else, Josuke is not a goofy ball 24/7, so he’d love to spend with you just some quiet time, maybe reading or watching something, while gently passing his thumb on the back of your hand, in a relaxed and peaceful silence. As much as he loves those moments, he loves also the ones when you both can be as DRAMATIC as possible! He can be really dramatic, if he wants, especially if he’s with Okuyasu -or you and you both are in the mood- and if Rohan is around. Josuke would find so cute your goofiness! He’d always palyfully tease you on it, before bear hugging you, chuckling at your complains. You’re so cute!
Josuke would be totally fine with both! He too loves to go out, he’d love both to go out just with you, in cute and nice dates, both to go out with you and all the duwang! It’s such a funny and wholesome time, he’d not give it up for nothing in the whole world! At the same time, he’d love to spend some quiet time just with you, relaxing on the couch, during your “lazy afternoons”. He loves this time as much as he loves to go out! All in all, what matters it to spend time with you. Everything with you is ten times better!
And here it is, darling! I hope you like it :3
