-I just wanna achieve the unnaturalness with their design. Like they don't belong here. They want to get out. LET HIM OUT. type vibe basically like that's why it has like those kind off teeth instead off the rabbit ones. They get those later in the au.

-I fucking love Glitchtrap so much you don't understand they're so peak!!!!!! I jokingly hate him because I despise what it did to Vanny.

-I was a fan since day 1 bro is just so unique like woah a non animatronic for a change?!?!? STRAIGHT UP A FURSUIT!??!?! Color me impressed!!! I love zooming on it its model and seeing everyy little detail!!! Like omg bro is crying and drooling on the suit!!!!! There's also a patch of uneven stitching pattern on the top of their head compared to their mostly symmetrical design!!!

-I was so fixated on em like my level of obsession for him was bad bad!!!! Like yeah it was still there when Vanny came around during the curse of Dreadbear DLC but you don't understand it surpassed all my Foxy art!!! The first fnaf character I fixated on!?!?? Like what and yall can ask my IRLS bro had lots n lots of art!!!!! I have so much trad art of glitchy it's embarassing!!! Atleast I improved tbh!!

-I just really really loved the fan animations were bro got to time travel to the older fnaf animations and fuck em up!!!! Causing them all to glitch out like hello PEAK!?!?!?! No im not biased to rabbit characters with whiskers shhhhh... SHHH...

-Because I know all those animations already and it's like omg omg OMG Glitchtrap kinda expanded my music taste imma be fr... Fnaf autism is so bad I omfg I only listened to fnaf songs and the only time I listened to other franchises songs is because someone animated fnaf over it... like yeah I was an animation meme kid but even then I only remember the lyrics and titles to songs if I saw fnaf on them (cringe!!!!) So yeah thank u Glitchtrap <33333

-I think Malhare is the cooler name but the Glitchtrap name is cool too because when the names end in trap like this it makes me think they're like warrior cats adjacent. So in this one they just fluctuate between either Malhare or Glitchtrap

-Also another reason he's my super fave is because my brain predicted it's gloop form!!!!

-Like no joke literally the same character I dreamt about during the early days before Princess Quest.

-Except mine was a shadow like the shadow animatronics. More wispy than gloopy. I think the reason I dreamt it was because Shadow Toy Chica and fan made shadow animatronics were getting popular!! But legit same character and colors!!!!!!!

-Just a big dark mass with purple eyes surrounding it like literally the same character my brain came up with and I'm just wow <3333 minus the fact my design had really big giant swirly white eyebrows

-However my Shadow Glitchtrap was kinda more wack to say the least. Like heheheh cuz Glitchtraps a fursuit there's no denying that I changed the dream design a bit. In my old Glitchtrap designs they'd have a zipper and so what would happen was they'd unzip and flip their insides into outsides to reveal the Shadow Glitchtrap thing which was hiding inside them.

-Like those plushies that you can unzip to reveal a different plushie design basically!!!!

-TBH I prefer Glooptrap because yeah!!!!! Amalgamation of hate let's go!!!!!! I think with how gloopy he is its just fun to draw I love the fact that the weird Glitchtrap blockers look like that it fits too much with my own preestablished AU lore.

-I feel like Glitchtrap turns into Glooptrap from like the seams of their suit. Like you see that each part the suit got stitched just turn black as black liquid pours out like ohhh that shit haunted!!!! Bursting outta the seams like oh this guy has no one inside they're all just black sludge!!!!

-In this AU specifically (The one with my millions of Vanny designs) is actually a spoof fnaf AU where everyone lives!!! Like I have 3 AUs technically one of them being the fnaf cast in my oc world where they become my ocs basically called Rabbit City. My other one which is my more serious canon adjacent fnaf AU where no silly stuff or shipping happens, and it's just more overall following my own formed understanding of the canonicity and the series of events with me trying to keep the animatronics more game accurate (I dont think ive posted any of that here due to me feeling like my style limits the nit and grit I wanna go with it). And this one I mainly post on here where everything is just silly and bends to my command and everyone lives because I love everyone <333333 Literally playing with my toys type AU where I do what I want which is why a million vanny designs are in this AU specifically. I usually tag it as this 🦭🩷🐇🐰🐇🐰🐇🐰🐯 because the original name of this au is self indulgent and I'm embarrassed but it's too iconic to change it.

-Glitchtrap in this AU is just much more goofy and silly infecting people like a zombie virus and possessing them for his own gain. Weird eldritch horror that came out of a fnaf fangame. Anything goes in this AU so if I wanna make Glitchtrap a mind controlling zombie warlock wizard so be it!!!! Sorry I love zombies soo much you will have to take this trope out of my cold dead hands!!!!! I love rot!!!

-That's why it's wrinkly because they too me are like a rotten banana (Even though his associated smell to me is lemongrass). Imagine squeezing a banana still with it's skin on. That's how I imagine bro turns into glooptrap if they didn't open the zipper in time. Also because I love the design trope of rotting and withering sue me. I love when the flesh sags across the body. Wrinkles are great bro theyre so real!!!!! Also because back then people kept drawing him as skinny as a twig??? Even though they have fat??? ALRIGHT HERE WE GO

- red is supposed to be from the og game... like OG OG game, little to no color game, that's 1996 and mod creators confirmed he's 18+ above SO i do a littol math and assume we're now in the 2020s so hes 24~ give or take.

- in the canon pkpsta story he's stuck in his own game as he's definitely subjected to be toyed around for glitching fun and exploitations and so he finally had it — he's going to try to escape from his own copy and jump to another genuine copy ... maybe even getting the more recent games of GBA wouldn't hurt either.

- my mind is drawing on a blank on how he does manage to jump from his copy to another but let's just imagine he was able to do it for now — but anyways he ends up on the ruby/sapphire/emerald copy. let's go with emerald because im biased as fuck

- everything is much more colorful and less monochrome, but sad to say that his game sprite colors are still quite minimal and well... red, so he definitely looks out of place. (im filling plot holes SHHH) and he's still so glitchy, maybe even worse because he doesn't even belong there.

- so, he lives in this copy of pkm.n emerald now, but is kind of hidden away from most people. he just wants a place where he can't be played around with anymore so this is already fine for him.

- now the thing is, sometimes he leaves a few trails of red colored statics or well. glitches LOL like it's his form of "scent" or a "tell" that — oh it's this guy.

- some people noticed it, but it's not like they cared that much and assumed it was just some random wild plant p.oke.mon using an abnormal type of sweet scent attack

- that's where emme comes in — because she took more interest in that "scent" and wanted to figure out wtf is that thing and made sure it WASN'T her o.ddis.h, odie — using sweet scent 🤡... it doesn't even smell like ANYTHING it just go bbzsttt bzzt

- so eventually she does find out this guy wandering around, just not appearing too close to society. heck he's actually trying to familiarize himself with the newer generation of p.oke.mons that sprung forth

- red wasn't expecting anyone to find him so seeing her was such a surprise, especially that she's in so much color and up close — it does look really nice to look at, unlike his entirely red color scheme

- she was surprised too cuz wow, you are SO funky looking. everything about you is SO funky looking. i like you

- that's where she tries to befriend him and stuff, and while she has no understanding of where red really came from even if he tried to explain it thoroughly — she still thought he was cool so she still stuck by from time to time.

- at some point she tries to pull him back into the community, y'know like vibe with everyone?? why are you alone AHDHDHDHDHHSHDJ but it went well!! maybe a few weird faces darted towards him but because everyone knows emme's friendliness — they aren't TOO bothered by him. it's the "she's your friend so you're not a threat to me" mindset

- now the romantic aspect hOHOyJHOIHH COUGHING OKAY

- he loves her to bits because she's the one who really pulled him out of his misery and helped him feel like, the red he was supposed to be back then. he may not be the main character anymore because this isn't his game, but at least he has someone important to him, with him

My feelings on Mob Psycho 100

Note: this is not a review. I will not be unbiased here, I love this show too much, and you shouldn't expect me to go into detail on things commonly talked about by reviewers. Mainly, animation styles, tropes, and genres. I am not a massive anime fan, I've watched less than ten series, and I only check out things that interest me or that have been personally recommended to me.

I’m not going to talk a lot about tropes and genres in great detail because I don't explore them a lot. I don't have the experience to properly judge anime on these. I’m not gonna talk a lot about animation styles because I haven't seen enough anime to have a good point of reference. When I do talk about them, they'll be based off of what I've heard and seen from other reviewers.

Plus, I'm a young adult still in college and it's for a completely unrelated degree, so why would you come here for a "proper" review anyways.

Content warnings: Mentions of things in the show, including references to suicide, and discussions of mental illness. There will also be a major spoiler of the manga at the very end of this post.

With that out of the way. This will basically be a few pages or more of me gushing about this series. (And furiously stanning serizawa and mob)

I will be going over the story in the way only an adhd ridden overthinker can. Messily and with a lot of bold.

So lets begin.

Mob psycho, at it's heart, is a story about friendship and growth, and an anime about contrast.

The reason I make the distinction there is that the story-line itself doesn't have much to do with contrasts outside of the classic antagonist and protagonist ideal clashing.

What it excels at is contrast in everything else, from how it presents the show to the art style to the characters themselves. For starters, it's simultaneously a shounen and a slice of life anime, which, while those can happen together, it's hard to do it right. Slice of life episodes almost feel like filler episodes compared to the action packed finale episodes, but to call them filler is wrong.These episodes, more than anything, are pure character development. We have episodes like the episode 1 of season 2 which mostly revolves around mob and his new friend Emi. While the interactions don’t contribute to the plot, they do contribute to Mob’s character development, showing how he’s trying to change to show his emotions through actions better(we will get to that later). And that’s just one of many examples.

It also contrasts in it’s artstyle. while the base art is simple and often called ugly, it has a charm to it, and the simplicity allows for much more exaggerated and complex movement and poses (just look at Reigen in most episodes for a good example). However, it excels at using the reverse, very complex and multi-medium art, to emphasize extreme emotions. From chalk to paint to pencil sketches. It also uses real-world textures, such as the shimmering holographic film used to represent mob’s aura, to emphasize very specific things. In that case, it makes mob’s powers stand out from the rest. Unlike other anime, such as Madoka, it uses them sparingly and consistently enough that it’s not creepy or weird most of the time.

Alright, that’s it for the big strokes. time to whittle down. (and gush but shhh)

Point 1: anxiety, autism, and metaphors that might have been unintentional but damn.

Again, this is biased, deal with it.

I’ve gone over this many times before but this needs to be resaid. Mob Psycho 100 does a wonderful job of portraying real world struggles in a way that doesn’t make light of them, but doesn’t drag the viewer down. We always know there will be a happy ending, but it still hurts as we watch.

For starters, the main character, Mob, is an (at least to most of the fandom) autistic character. Not explicitly, afaik, and there’s been many debates over if we can diagnose him or not, but quite frankly I don’t give a damn and im autistic so shut up I get to project.

Mob frequently struggles with social interactions, emoting, emotional regulation, and sympathizes with people that most humans think to be unfeeling and lesser. Instead of being played off as a joke, this is explored in depth. While yes there are some jokes about it, it’s not solely a joke, and is taken seriously enough outside of it that I think it counts for more.

When it comes to everyday social interactions, Mob is consistently bad at them, and is very clearly nervous around his peers. He frequently considers himself inferior to others, including his brother, and one of his aspirations is to be cool outside of his psychic powers. He tries to achieve this goal through the Body Improvement Club. Usually, a skinny and short character joining a fitness club would be played for laughs, with the buff characters laughing at him, but it’s not. Sure, it’s funny, but in the “you’ll laugh about it years later” way, not in a bullying way. The club is extremely supportive and protective of Mob(as they should be!) and encourage him despite his physical issues.

Anyway, this is all to say that Mob is bad at social interactions, but the show tends to view it from his pov, where he’s trying his best to be better. a good example of this is in episode 1 season 2 again, where in a short scene, this book is shown on his shelf.

Three books here, “how to properly read social cues”, “how to properly read novels”, and “lifting weights is the best answer to everything”. As cute as that last book is, we’re focusing on the first one. “how to properly read social cues”. He doesn’t just struggle with interactions because of his anxiety, he genuinely struggles with reading social cues.

alright, that’s social interaction down. Now, point 1.2, Mob struggles with emoting. this is obvious, it’s like the defining characteristic of his design besides his bowl cut, and the whole LOL episode has him literally never laugh. He does not emote... usually.

Point 1.3, Mob has the emotional spectrum characteristic of people with autism and adhd. Instead of our emotions going on a smooth scale from 1-10, ours tend to go 1-2-3-8-9-10. We don’t really have a middle ground. This is simplifying, of course, but Mob clearly has this. that’s the whole reason the show has 100 in its name! He doesn’t express emotions except in the extreme ends of the spectrum. Of course, this is explained as him repressing it due to fear, but... as a character, when you have this many things lining up, I think it is perfectly fine for us to interpret them differently. especially when the reasoning has to do with psychic powers and nothing irl.  There are of course other reasons for this but it’s my post and i get to choose the coping mechanism.

Now, the point that literally came to me AS I WAS WRITING THIS.. Mob cares for spirits, aka “The Other”. Of course, this isn’t exclusive to autistic people. Not at all. But there is an entire episode dedicated to Mob’s frustration that humans don’t see ghosts and spirits as people, which is a very VERY clean metaphor for how autistic people are not only often seen as lesser, but also how autistic people often empathize with inhuman characters more because they empathize with, again, being viewed as inhuman. Was this intentional? maybe, maybe not. It is a pretty clever plotline to bring up when your character is special because they can see ghosts. But this is my post so shh.

Alright, that’s my analysis of mob out of the way. Time for my man Serizawa!

I’ve gone over this before (its my most popular post), but Serizawa is meant to represent people who struggle to start as an adult due to anxiety and other mental health issues. He is nearly 30 and still lives with his mom, holed up in his room. And this is treated very kindly in the show. While at first he’s just switching coping mechanisms (hiding behind and umbrella and following someone blindly), Mob(My boy!) actually tries to help him, by empathizing with him and explaining that you don’t have to be afraid. Serizawa is 30 and has to start being an adult and this isn’t treated as a joke. He’s not laughed at for this. Nobody bullies him for being 30 and going to school. He’s given friends, a job, a support system. He willingly gives up his coping mechanisms. He is given AGENCY. He’s CARED FOR!!! he’s loved!! he grows!! god i love this man!!! ANYWAY

alright that’s point 1... i had a point 2. what was it..

OH YEA! FRIENDSHIP!!

Point 2: Love IS the solution to everything, Shut the fuck up.

Mob psychos arcs frequently resolve with “the power of love and friendship” and it’s done WELL. Mob loves so much and is such a pacifist that his empathy and his refusal to hurt people literally makes 80% of his enemies become his friends. Teru, Dimple, Emi to an extent, Most of the scars, Sho, i could keep going. This boy is just a magnet for friendship.

It’s also why Reigen and mob get along so well. They do genuinely care for eachother and while yes Reigen is a conman he has a heart of gold and cares!!! there’s a whole arc about this!!

And not only this, but that love is the fuel for a lot of the character development. Teru changes to be nicer because of Mob, Dimple starts to care about people other than himself because of Mob, Mob is able to stop the extreme destruction caused by his ??? form (in a scene in the end of the manga) because of his fucking friendship with Reigen.

IN CONCLUSION. FOUND FAMILY FIXES EVERYTHING. FUCK YOU. HAVE SOME LOVE.

Hi hi! I'm glad you liked it! Actually, it's kind of a funny story because I started liking kpop through my mom, not even joking. She was watching kdramas before I even knew a thing about korean culture and because of her I started watching too. And, she was really into BIG BANG (she even bought their album) and so I eased into kpop too.

I started listening to kpop in 2015-6 or so and because of that my tastes are kinda mixed? I was mainly gen 3 fan, then I listened to more gen 2 stuff and finally I still listen to kpop as my primary music but I don't really tunnel focus into anything. Like I listen to lots of new songs, I just don't spend my entire time looking into idols. I used to be a big EXO-L because ultimately, what led me to kpop was Baekhyun. I had a big crush on him and he was my first kpop bias. Anyways, I'll go through some of my favorite bands and artists below!

(side note: I'm not too caught up with the newest bands either, even when it comes to my favs I listen to their old stuff more.)

Could you even help it??? Yunho is just so precious and pretty that no one could ever resist giving him anything he wanted. At first yunho was kinda confused, but yunho got just a little bit spoiled and used to it. Yes I know Yunho and his family is like rich but it’s whatever AHDKHSJS Anyway Yunho kinda just gravitated towards you because you were just so nice and soft and he felt comfortable. The two of you took lots of vacations and you took him to Universal studios several times so he could go to Harry Potter Land since you know he loves Harry Potter so much.

Mingi

Mingi really likes being spoiled but he feels bad that you’re constantly spending money on him and he never really gets anything for you. Mingis favourite thing is whenever you get him small things like rings or necklaces because they’re always nice accessories that he can wear all the time. You also like to get him different clothes since Mingi is super into fashion but he’s kinda like 😳 whenever you do bc the clothes he’s into is expensive and you always buy him so much and he gets kinda nervous NFNJS

San

San feels a bit awkward sometimes,,, like sure he doesn’t mind that you always buy him things and get him dinner but all the time there are people who ask him where he got certain things and he’s just kinda like uHh iT wAs a GiFt but even then people are like ??? Because some of the stuff is really expensive and it honestly makes no sense why someone would just give san something that cost thousands of dollars for no reason. For example you had bought San an entire PC setup of things that san had been wanting and whenever people would go over they’d be like 😳 bc where’d he get the money for all of that?? I guess if San was questioned one too many times he’d just tell them the truth and be like fInE iM a sUgaR bAbY bItE mE

Yeosang

Yeosang would straight up Hannah Montana it. Live that double life or whatevea. Yeosang would tell absolutely no one that he was a sugar baby, but he would also kinda be living a double life??? Like he would have normal everyday friends and friends that me made from you and neither would know about the other. He would wear his normal clothes whenever he’s with his normal friends and his fancy clothes that you get him with his fancy friends. Occasionally Yeosang would slip up though and accidentally wear like a watch or a bracelet you got him in front of his normal friends and theyre like ?!?! But every time he kinda just convinces them that they’re fake.

Seonghwa

Seonghwa feels kinda weird about it. I think if Seonghwa was in a situation where he really needed some type of sudden help, he wouldn’t say no,,, yk what I mean? Like if anything,, Seonghwa doesn’t want like fancy clothing or electronics, or going out to eat. He would kinda just have his bills paid for which is perfectly fine, and you’re super glad to help him out in whichever way it’s needed.

Hongjoong

I think that even if Hongjoong wasn’t an idol,,, he’d still have some stacks, so he wouldn’t really need anything I think he would rather be in a relationship and be able to spoil each other equally rather than just taking all of your money akdhsjbs he might want to split things like you pay for like lunch one day and he will the next,, etc...

Jongho

Like Hongjoong,, I think Jongho would have some $$ and he would most definitely not need or even want you to spend yours on him. I think even though you got some $$ too Jongho would rather spend his on you rather the other way around. Jongho would rather have a sugar baby than be the sugar baby.

Video Games: Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki, Aizen Kunitoshi, Atsushi Toushirou

Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki

Sweet MuMu adores video games where we can travel the world. Fantasy world, modern world, past, present, future, he don’t care! An open world game will suit him best! There’s so much to do, and like a lil puppy, MuMu want’s to explore it all!

Extra bonus points if there’s a part of the game where there is something to do with the ocean. He adores the sea after all! Boats, driving them, exploring the ocean, exploring the unknown, oh this TouDan will drink that shit up.

The games that come to mind are Assassin’s Creed: III, Black Flag, Syndicate, Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. Why? Most of them deal with exploring new lands and some of them deal with piloting ships! III, Black Flag, Odyssey, Origins, Valhalla to be more specific. Syndicate has guns and classy fashion. A little too much for Mutsunokami but he loves playing with the guns in the game - they are very similar in make to his own after all. he also rly likes the sea shanties in odyssey because i rly like them too

If Mutsunokami wants to relax and not play Assassin’s Creed where he goes around stabbing everything that moves, he will play Subnautica or Abzu or Journey to relax. Maybe even Animal Crossing! He loves the cute little animals but I personally think that games where he can just explore the world and meet new people and learn lore just make him happy the most.

Games MuMu would never play are horror games or anything with spiders in them. So Bayonetta and Devil May Cry are out. He loves the idea of gun-toting protagonists but nope, nope. Spiders? Bye fam.

Now that I think about it, he would just be Blathers. He can play Animal Crossing but Gods help him the minute he sees a spider in that damn game. “I THOUGHT THIS WAS A PEACEFUL GAME, WHY ARE THE SPIDERS TRYING TO KILL YOU” cue controller thrown at the television.

Oh MuMu adores party games! Can’t play Smash Bros or Mario Kart for shit. Watch him pay too much attention to the background and yeet himself off of the stage because he saw something shiny. He can kinda play though, but again he gets distracted the most. Buuut ask him to play Mario Party with the rest of the swords and damn right he will play!

Can and will make video games turn into a drinking game. MuMu adores competitive gaming with the rest of the citadel. Will start taking bets on who is gonna win and lose, and sure he may be a pouty loser but he’ll be fiine. But damn right he’ll yeet a tantou to ensure his win. No he won’t he’s not that cruel.

Mutsunokami also adores rhythm games! Taiko no Tatsujin because of Don-chan and the idea of playing with a lil taiko drum as a controller. He’s very much into music after all. There are times when he stops playing a game to just listen to the music and take it all in!

A guilty pleasure game he plays is probably Ghost of Tsushima. No he’s not checking out Jin’s ass whenever they go to a hot spring, what are you talking about? MuMu enjoys it because sometimes just going back to your roots and stabbing a ho is just what you need. dear khotun khan, eat shit

Aizen Kunitoshi

Aizen is also super big on rhythm games. As said above with Mutsunokami, Taiko no Tatsujin will be a favorite of his. He has a secret collection of Don-chan merch, no one is stopping him damn it. Just fucking tRY and take away his precious Don-chan(s). The only ones that can touch his prized collection are the rest of the Rai swords, other peeps he is close to, and maybe you if you two are close/you ask nicely. Get him some Don-chan pajamas and he’ll cry.

Aizen is also pretty good at fighting games, Street Fighter coming to mind because he adores over the top bullshit and the colors! The colors! He mains Ryu though, but he’s more than willing to try new characters!

He’s also pretty competitive at times, so he would adore playing fighting games with the rest of the swords at the citadel. Hotarumaru and he are always playing Smash Bros or Mario Kart, which ends up with a lot of broken controllers. Hotaru has been slightly banned from planning highly competitive gameplay though.

Other games that I know Aizen will be into will be Animal Crossing when he wants to relax. He loves the little yearly festivals and events in the games and it kinda mirrors how life works in the world. Of course he adores Digby and Isabelle, and has threatened Tom Nook with Hotarumaru before. “Don’t you cheat me you stupid tanuki, don’t make me get my brother in here.”

Games that Aizen cannot play are puzzle games. He doesn’t mind them, he just finds them really boring. He watches Akashi play them sometimes but even then, Akashi will conk the hell out. If you play them and have Aizen on your lap watching, Aizen will be amazed at how you are so good at them!

Aizen cannot deal with horror games or sad emotional games. He’s pretty emotional himself and will need a lot of hugs after. He will refuse to play Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons as they remind him of Hotarumaru and himself a lil too much. Horror games is because he’s too scared to. Hotarumaru doesn’t mind them, he likes playing them while Aizen and Akashi cling on to each other and scream in terror.

Aizen also loves games that not only have great music but the visuals and colors just catch his eye. Katamari Damacy comes to mind and he loves the main character a lot. The music! The colors! Ohh man its the best.

A guilty pleasure game he would love is the monster catching genre, Pokemon is an idea but he also loves Yokai Watch. Yokai Watch feels a lil more closer to home, plus Yokai Watch had a crossover with Taiko no Tatsujin! He immediately wasted no time and effort to try and recruit Don-chan. iM STILL TRYING TO GET DON-CHAN ON MY TEAM U LIL SHIt but also im rly biased towards yokai watch and digimon

This lil guy will also love collecting plushies of any characters of the games he plays! Don-chan is his first choice of course but catch him and Hotarumaru in a little cuddle puddle with 70 other plushies from various games!

Most of all, Aizen loves games where he can play with others! Friends, family, you! It doesn’t matter to him! He’ll drag you from your office to relax and just cheer anyone up with something fun! “Come play with me! You promised after all, master! I’ve found a rEALLY cool and fun game to play together with Hotaru!” bless him he’s trying his best

Atsushi Toushirou

Like Aizen, Atsushi will mostly enjoy multiplayer games because of his multitudes of brothers, younger and older. He’ll pick out games like Mario Party, Mario Kart, classics for sure. But then there’s games like Wario Ware or Smash Bros. He wants to play games with as many people as possible! He loves it when he can play with you and his brothers!

If Atsushi wants to play something more solo, he will play something along the lines of Cooking Mama. Houchou got him addicted to it gee i wonder why Houchou loves the game so much but Atsushi just loves the dishes that he can prepare and it almost feels like he can cook! He once tried to follow exactly what Cooking Mama did in the game for cooking once uh...it did not end up. But none the less, he loves the colors and the music of Cooking Mama!

He is also a big ol fan of life simulation games, Animal Crossing being his favorite. Again he and his siblings can all play together and the calm atmosphere almost lulls him to a peaceful sort of sleep that he adores the most. He loves the relaxing vibe and sometimes wishes to live there, wherever the hell these guys live.

Next to Yagen, I think Atsushi will lowkey adore horror games. Yagen does it just to get a rise out of the rest of his siblings and Atsushi is kind of the same. Sure Yagen finds the most gorey and atmospheric based horror to scare the crap outta his siblings, Atsushi will probably play the more jumpscare based horror games just to get a scare outta them too! What good is a horror game if you’re not scared as well??? Damn right he’ll wait until it’s night time to play these games!

Atsushi also does love RPG games! Star Ocean, Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, come to mind first. He just loves going on big adventures! Exploring new worlds, meeting new people, learning new things! Bonus points if the game has a really emotional story, catch him and his brothers crying about whatever happens on screen.

Atsushi has a secret fondness for rather childish games. Pokemon, Yokai Watch, so on and so forth. YEs he’s trying his best to be mature and stuff, supporting you his saniwa and all, but sometimes he just wants to be himself and have fun! He has a few mascot plushies from his brothers too, shhh.

Atsushi is also terrifyingly amazing at turn-based strategy games. Mario + Rabbids being a favorite because of the colors and overall fun atmosphere. Fire Emblem is a close second. He knows exactly how to keep his units and characters alive, what upgrades to give them, so on and so forth. “General! Come look at what I did in my game! Wouldn’t it be cool if we could also do something like this?!” he says that as Rabbid Luigi yeets himself off of normal Mario and soars through the air like a bird, landing gracefully without hurting himself. Atsushi no.

He’s the most likely of the TouDans to get into the indie gaming scene, looking at new and upcoming content creators to see what they make! He wants to support them as much as he can!

He’s also one of the more responsible of the TouDans in terms of games. Others will start buying them on a whim but Atsu knows there’s a budget to be had! He isn’t as money crunching as Hakata or anything but he knows his damn limits!

Another game genre he’s secretly into are visual novels. He loves the budding relationships between characters, romantic or not, he loves seeing where they end up! It’s like he’s growing with them!

Stex Appreciation Month: CB!

Can’t trust anyone these days, remember I can face both ways!

Ah yes, my url’s namesake, i finally had time to finish and post something lol i’ll post the others soon

Questions answered under the cut! This is extra long because he is my Fave and im Biased 

Fave song: There’s Me hands down, the whole scene including That Was Unfair is just so good in establishing CB’s, Greaseball and Dinah’s characters so well, plus the melody is just*chef’s kiss* and the fact that its technically a villain song?? Love that, plus the parallels of him finding Dinah alone and upset and comforting and supporting her and lending her a hand up and sending her on her way after she’s cheered up, with post race 3 where he’s the reason Rusty’s alone and hurt on the floor, kicking him when he tries to get up (looking at you 1991 boot) and mocks and insults him, leaving him alone with his confidence broken as he leaves laughing. What an absolute bastard!! But when There’s Me is taken out, you don’t properly see his two sides, both the bad and good sides are important to his character! He’s a contrary dude but that’s just him! Plus the actual song has one of my fave melodies of the show, I can and do listen to the intro from the ost on repeat, plus that lil bit in the japan vid?? So cute?? And the contrasting styles to that and Wide Smile?? Amazing, love it

Fave actor: Once again my fave actor list is gonna be like 5 people lol, the great thing about C.B’s material is that his attitude and demeanour can change based on his inflection, movement etc so! Michael Staniforth is a given, his Wide Smile really demonstrates his range which imo not many others have been quite as good, plus what extremely little footage and photos there are of him he was extremely expressive and just fun to watch! I’ll also go with Peter Rees, Andrew Prosser, Hans Johansson, Oliver Rhoe Thornton (and what the heck let’s also go for early Kapa Kitchen and Daniel Ellison)

Fave ship: Ohh boy this is super self indulgent but CBGB honestly (has the fandom given it a nickname? Greaseboose?? idk) I love that in the older scripts him and GB high five (that us boot where cb does a lil jump to hit GB’s high five?? Adorable) and actually talk like friends?? Like Greaseball is a jerk to pretty much everyone and for him to be friendly with him is just sweet. Not to mention its Greaseball who tells his gang that CB’s a “mean machine”, is always calling out to CB in the races and a recent thing that clicked in my brain is that when CB says “what a race, what a team!” and GB’s like “shhh! ohhh you mean me and dinah?” like did he just think that CB was about to out that they were working together during the race to crash the other engines in front of Dinah so he shushed him, then realised he was talking about GB and Dinah?? then just the whole exchange after sabotaging Rusty?? Duet One Rock and Roll? That GB just lifts him up like its nothing then they just kinda sit on eachother?? Those two are in cahoots I tell you!! Plus to me i get the vibe that they’ve been working together for years?? I just love their dynamic haha (and CB’s the only one i think who calls him GB that’s so cute) oh and platonic CB/Dinah is top tier, I feel like Dinah’s a very emotionally honest person so CB would feel like he could actually trust her?? And thanks to the new megamix Canoose/Elektra can have one right, as a treat

Fave thing about him: His independence! All the other characters are very much driven by either winning the races or finding love (or both), and C.B. just...doesn’t care. What you “are” is a big deal in Stex, like the engines, coaches and freight all have their identities shaped by their titles, and that can influence how they feel about the above two subjects “nobody can do it like a steam train”, etc and looking at when C.B. does participate in the races him and his partner tend to take the lead so he is good at racing!! But he chooses not to in order to make his own fun (at the expense of pretty much everyone else). He also seems to have a level of self-awareness, take his verse in Freight for example, he knows that as a brakevan he has to essentially serve the freight train, perceptually at the back of the train. But instead he uses his “purpose” aka his brakes to not do what he’s been told and to disrupt the train, and gets away with it by presenting himself as the innocent helpful brakevan! He’s just doing his own thing, (poor Rusty but,,) good for him!! And of course I have to say again, his two sides, and the ambiguity of it?? Like is he good, bad?? He’s both and neither?? An absolute force of chaos, but it only really works when both sides are present. Plus he a cutie tehe

Random headcanon: I think he’s unnervingly observant, even moreso than Pearl, and has amazing peripheral vision. That and taking notice of things like vibrations on the rails he’s very good at telling whose around before they’ve fully come into vision. He’s always watching everything around him, and isn’t necessarily being creepy, he’s just trying to get as much info on the current situation as possible. I think he likes to have some control and be on top of things?? I also really like the ex-boxcar theory (I first saw this theory on the old bellesdomain forums, rip) and I think that maybe when he was converted it was very difficult for him, having to deal with people, and having the CB radio to control what he hears helps ground him and keep his thoughts less cluttered?? He might’ve also forgotten a lot of his boxcar days, so when he says “you know I’m to blame but you don’t know my name” maybe he doesn’t even remember his original name?? And never got a new one as just the Red Caboose, so he clung onto the CB radio to give himself a sense of identity when his previous identity was stripped from him?? IDK

Unpopular opinion: This wagon can hold so many spicy takes he’s not a murderer lol but at the same time i can see where people can think that considering the lyrics reference several real-life train crashes even if they don’t make sense for CB to be there which tbh I put down to Stilgoe going tehe railway incident reference! I think he’s travelled around a lot and done a lot of questionable things, and maybe he was responsible for those crashes in the stex universe?? or maybe he’s just lying?? he’s definitely responsible for some shit, but considering he crashes 5 (!!!) engines during that one race night and being publicly humiliated after race 4 he doesn’t get in trouble and besides, all those engines are back for light at the end of the tunnel, they’re fine lol. Another thing is that I haaaate how CB has like no agency anymore in the current version like everything he does is for money, he’s basically a henchman for the engines (and everyone knows what his deal is and he isn’t in train jail?? what??) and they got rid of the pre-race 4 bit “just for me, I’m in this just for me” (in that slightly twisted there’s me melody) and Electra desperately pleading “help me caboose, help me caboose” to just the generic “I’ll help you win” at the end and not really its own little bit anymore like he barely has his own motivations anymore, it actually makes me really sad :( it really just doesn’t feel like CB anymore, though his character has been really disjointed since like 2007 when they got rid of there’s me. He’s just kinda bland now, like before he instigated a lot of the conflict, now others tell him to do something and he does it. I could like him more if he had an ounce more depth, like why is he so motivated by money? Maybe go into that old vs new tech theme and bring up that now that there’s new tech that can do the job of a brakevan he’s now antiquated and has to go into crime to get by?? Idk just please give me something, I think CB’s always been a bit of a fan favourite because he had multiple layers to his personality but new boose just has a whole lotta nothing :/ 

Anyway let’s end on a positive note at least we got pride lighting and a solo in the megamix so that’s something I guess XD

Quick first thoughts on the first ep of the Hypmic Anime. Spoilers beware (and im writing this as I watch so :p)

Otome’s speech is.... questionable from a persuasive point of view. Manga did a great job of introducing her (which you can read here) but they really cut out the more terrifying parts of her speech and how she uses force to show people that she's not to be messed with

Its cool seeing everyone in their respective environments though. thats cool. Though they could have added Sasara and Kuuko (shhh i know why they didn’t let me dream)

I love how poppy the typography is. Its amazing how the visuals just leap out at you. The OP does a great job of this. The first few seconds before the title really gives me Persona 4 OG OP vibes with the influx of information given. The rest is a clear concise and streamlined way that still gives character. Animation is sparse but still carries across a general idea of each character and shows off each character object. Rendering is really nice and pays a bit of homage to the posing artwork thats done for the MVs. They also do their division hand signals and thats cute

Love how the OP has blatant HifuDoppo and DRB matchup foreshadowing

so far I really like what theyre going for. BB is about brotherly familial bonds and they show the goods and the bads. Jiro and Saburo bickering right out the gate really cements the fact that they get along like cats and dogs but you can still see that they love each other, working together when the situation calls for it

Now the 3d models. Theyre... not great but usable if you don’t look too hard. They serve their purpose and don’t actively detract from the viewing experience.

Visual typography in the rap itself are fun and poppy but they dont.... speak to me? like theyre there yes and I appreciate them but the only ones that got me excited were from Ichiro’s rap

I love how they interpret the Hypnosis Speakers though. Esp. Saburo’s organs. That was super creative and I love it! If there was one thing that I felt was missing from the franchise was a deeper exploration of the speakers but the anime puts a new and fresh spin on it! Love it, especially with their attack patterns!

If the production team ever feels inclined to, Id love to see those info sheets on Otome’s desk released. There seems to be very interesting info and stats written out about each member (like capabilities, personal status etc.) They all seem unique too so I really really really hope they release images of those sheets

OOOOOOOOKAY MTC. I have such a big biased for them so Im very torn to see what unfolds

Rio striking out on his own is interesting. Out of everyone in MTC hes the biggest team player yet here he trusts his teammates to go ahead. This either displays Rio’s willingness to trust his teammates or it becomes very OOC if the anime wants to set him up as a lone wolf like character

I love how they specify its a drug deal. It means that Jyuto surely will show up and it also shows that Samatoki knows Jyuto’s motives and willingly gives black market info that he knows aligns with Jyuto’s goal. Thats A+ detail writing there and a great establishing characteristic for both of them

OOohhhhhhhhhhhhh man Asunama-san’s voice acting is god tier his work as Samatoki is phenomenal. He pulls of Samatoki’s threatening voice so well with those almost calm words before his voice becomes loud and confrontational. Those rolling syllables in contrast to Komada-san’s almost lyrical and airy speech and Kamio-san’s strict and enunciated words is such a delight to hear. It just speaks to how amazing and great these Seiyuu’s are in order to pull of such amazing work

Im so biased but MTC has such a better rap than BB im so sorry. Just by watching Samatoki’s part, the imagery is amazing. Even the arrival of his Hypnosis Speaker was awesome and sent a shiver down my spine. using the lyrics to form blades and blood was such a great thing to do. Theres so much more variety that just him standing there and shots of his hypnosis speaker. The old fashioned vignette shots, the four panel spread, the nods to old Kurosawa era films are great and I love these small details. Even the typography looks better.

Again, the interpretations with the speakers is fresh and new. Its great and I love the different imagery and attack patterns. Each one is so unique but carries across each different style of rap.

The 3d modles aren’t any better tho lol

(Hi this is Astro who is reading over their assessment again and making a note. Yeah I’m a bit harsh on BB’s rap. I’m not going to change it since I still stand by it and this post is supposed to be a documentation of my first impressions. I think one of the reasons why I’m so harsh on BB is because of their dynamic as a trio of brothers. They Have to have a more uniform approach than the other divisions. Which in of itself isn’t a terrible thing, it just doesn’t catch my eye as much as MTC did. Thats all! I definitely don’t hate BB, they’re maybe my 3rd favorite division out of the current lineup [not including TDD era teams like Kujaku Posse, MCD, and Naughty Busters] its just that their rap was pretty meh)

Samatoki crouching like a real gangstar and the cigarette kiss killed me

But also my initial assessment of Rio possibly being characterized as a lone wolf is very much jossed and im very thankful for that. It seems that Rio was simply trusting his teammates to carry out their part of the plan while he carried out his own. I like that, it really shows how much of a team these three are and that they genuinely trust each other. He’s also comfortable enough around them to invite them to dinners after work casually and not just for special occasions.

Oooh! we get Ramuda on his design process which is really cute. the inside of his studio is super cute and retro and i love it. the poppy old music you would hear in a cafe or 90′s resturaunt is also really cute (astro note: yeah i know that in ARB you see the interior of Ramuda’s office but its kinda different seeing it animated)

the translation i have has gentaro speaking in early modern english (Shakespearian english for those who aren’t english nerds like me) but from what I can hear, he doesn’t speak in a particularly old fashioned way? Its more formal than old? and hes speaking without any of his character persona lying thing that he likes to do (as he refers to himself as “Shousei” throughout the segment where hes in Ramuda’s office which is kind of his default pronoun of choice). so its kinda odd for the translation to go in that direction but im not complaining

Gendice banter is gold but it feels... flat? a little? it doesn’t have the same impact as in the drama cds or in the manga? i feel? Also Ramuda using gratuitous english is??? idk how to feel about that

FP’s rap might be my favorite in terms of tune and lyrics though. It’s a nice laid back bop and really gives of chill vibes. the integration of 3d and 2d is really nice and i love how they play off each other in the rap. The wordplay is so fun with little nods here and there and the beat is poppy too so it really energizes me.

Ramuda’s rap concerns me slightly since he makes very subtle and small nods towards his past (being created in a laboratory, warfare, and his overall very unpleasant life experiences) but spins it into something cutesy. It could be a coping mechanism, it could be me overthinking it. But it does make me worry a bit. Gentaro and Dice’s rap really play off each other with Gentaro sticking to stories and Dice taking up the baton by carrying on that same imagery but putting his own spin on it.

the self awareness of how scattered they are as a team is interesting though. It doesn’t seem like something you’d speak about in a rap? but i guess since its not really a do or die situation they can afford to be looser on things like this.

Right off the bat, i don’t like how they handled Hifumi and Doppo in relation to Hifumi’s fear of women. Slug made a post once talking about this and I echo many of his sentiments. Hypmic has never been very tactful about tackling this particular issue and while I didn’t have high hopes that the anime would be any better it hurts to see Doppo take away the one thing that allows Hifumi to function within society.

Doppo’s breakdown mirrors a lot of my own mental state when I spiral though its shown a lot quicker than what happens to me oof. that hits close to home. though Jakurai’s advice is. Questionable. Its not the best advice to give to someone but we have no idea what kind of doctor Jakurai is so ill let it slide

I don’t have many thoughts about the rap though again. How they visualize the rap is interesting. the different imagery is quite interesting for each of them and the typography is nice a distinct but im still on the fence about the visuals here

The sound is in the same boat. The sound effects either drown out the rap or are too quet but some parts are nice at least. When they talk about Tokyo’s beating heart, the heartbeat sound is a but distracting especially since its only played once. But the imagery is at least nice

I wonder if for the eds they’re going to take a similar approach to what Enstars did and have a four different endings, one for each division. I love the blend of styles here and it really accentuates that although they’re different they mesh well together.

Ramuda’s silhouette though is hilarious. Love it.

:p and thats it. Uh not bad for a first episode. Established all 12 characters really nicely and their dynamics. I had some problems with it but then again nothing is perfect. I look forward to what they show us next week

OKSO. i just went back and watched the animatic again and picked out... a lot of frames actually because i couldn’t just. pick a few i love this animatic so much. i’ll give a teeny tiny commentary on each of them as well bc!! yeah! that’s what the point of getting u guys to send asks was >:]

despite my urges to i will not be plugging any of the really popular frames. or any of the tommy ones bc i could not force myself to pick it would just be all of them BAHAHA.

once again under the cut bc i don’t wanna clog peoples dashes :] 

so the first one i chose is this butcher army room frame. i really like this one because of the general composition of it- the fact that you can see the posters in the background, the way the characters are divided (specifically so that ranboo is on tubbo’s side, that’s probably generally obvious to most people but i just find it neat) and because of the use of color. the colors are warm- what lmanburg colors usually are- but they’re not by any means inviting, but dead serious instead. and also ranboo. no i’m not biased shut up

now we do a Big jump through the animatic to the next one i really liked, which is this one frame specifically from that scene-that-might-be-my-favorite with techno calling to phil. i picked this one particularly because techno’s struggling is almost aggressively clear here, and the motion is really good (which is literally one of my favorite things about hog hunt, that might only be topped by the transitions because those are also flawless here. i’ll talk about those later) this was also one of the sharpest frames from this scene i could find so that’s partially why i picked it as-well.

next is this one frame from the scene with punz!! because oh my god the scene with punz!! i absolutely loved loved loved everything about this bit, but this frame specifically because i think it captures the overall movement (punz throwing the potions and shedding the cape both at once) at what i think is its highest point. i just think it’s Neat, yakno? sad-ist punz my beloved, punz getting content like they DESERVE

and then we have this one (which i stole from tumblr! shhh!!) i’m honestly not sure why i like this one so much, but it really just, stands out to me for some reason. something about how the anvil comes into perfect clarity right in techno’s eye, something about how even techno- who knows he won’t die- looks scared of the impending death above of him- it’s just really powerful.

nyanyways that ended up being less than i thought it was gonna b bc i took away a few while writing this. BUT!! thank you regardless for enabling my bullshit cinna >:]
