I joked in discord that I was going to make all of them listen to a 9 hour presentation on A Better Wold, my beautiful trainwreck of a series and that got me to reading the book, which I haven't done in a few years, since I finally accepted it's terrible.

AND I LOVE IT!!!

I love this stupid series with all my heart. I love the writing style (kinda Douglas Adams, but a bit more serious), I love the characters, I love the setting!

I just don't know how to fix the three issues that make it terrible:

A)too many charactersb(like, seriously, we're talking about dozen povs).

B)The entire Samael/etah thing that all three novels rest on that would get me cancelled soooooooo fast.

C) Qa*on.

Like, how can I write about a secret society secretly controlling the world after I learned about Qa*on? Nothing I can come up with, nothing I can possibly write can be taken seriously after those freaks and their beliefs.

I did do what I thought was a good subversion on it, making them genuinely make the world a better place (and also make each of their memebers a duckling dork in their own way), but it just feels so... off.

You got it. Because when she took on that curse half a millennium ago, it was also a request she agreed to. For the sake of all of Fontaine and not just the sake of Focalors, but it's still all too similar. Even if she said yes to him because she actually wants it then, who's to say she'll always want it? Who's to say the decades, the centuries won't weigh heavier and heavier as they pass, just like before? Who's to say she won't have to ask him to make her mortal again? And that would be even more painful than simply letting her go when she's meant to. So instead he'll treasure the time she has, that she's more than earned, and he'll do everything he can for her to treasure it too.

I keep forgetting to make this post, but something I don’t see anyone bringing up is how many succubi are at the anti-blitzo party. Do you ever think that maybe the reason so many people have been hurt by him despite it being a bunch of one-night stands is because he also stole from them? Like you wake up after some good sex only to find the guy is gone and so is your most precious possession? The one that would get you into massive shit if your boss found out you lost it but you need to do your job so you HAVE to admit you were careless enough with it that some rando stole it?

I’m saying Blitz stole their asmodean crystals. I’m saying there’s a large number of succubi at the party bc Blitz targeted them in order to steal their crystals, and that’s a large part of why they hate him so much.

Since you’re really getting into the world of Jewish music, have you heard of chilik frank ? He’s a chossid who does ashkenaz/Klezmer. My absolute fav song from him is a song called ‘Rabi meir omer’ !

Ughh one thing I love about kletzmer is the emphasis on clarinet so many songs have. It makes me want to pick mine back up and play this by ear...
