I think at a certain point we all gotta stop referring to the wc incest issue as "accidents." Like, it can only happen so many times before it's obvious someone made an executive choice to ignore it. it feels like...removing/lessening blame to keep calling it a clueless accident

with the way these books are written, I suspect the wc team mindset is "anything the middle-grade target audience wouldn't remember/question doesn't need to be considered." Like, if Nightheart didn't acknowledge last arc that Bayshine was related to him, then he effectively isn't related to him in the eyes of whatever new reader picked up this arc for the first time. Therefore, might as well not exist. Nothing in this world matters except whatever will get them through the current plotline.

the fact they are writing about animals and consistently refuse to use relatable familial terms like cousin/aunt/uncle/grandparent etc probably makes them comfortable shrugging it off.

the new team especially writes as if they are soft rebooting every other arc. it's the ultimate have your cake and eat it too: they don't want to do the work required to change the world/status quo to prevent this problem (doing so might slightly impede the ease of their break-neck writing speed), but they still want to do standard cliche romantic drama with their new next-gen-protag kits, so…they deal with that road block by ignoring it. There hasn't been a financial incentive not to.

this lack of care is all deeply annoying to me. but we gotta stop calling it an 'accident' b/c that implies they would be motivated to avoid it if it were pointed out to them. dog they know 😭 and they clearly decided it doesn't count if they don't acknowledge it

Avery & Mulciber are clearly blood purists so they would obviously talk shit and I really think they'd talk shit about Lily wether they were friends with Severus or not cause she's a muggleborn and a gryffindor.

Yet Severus still hangs out with them and has no other issues with them especially cause he'd throw a fit if they talked shit about Lily. And if he did they'd clearly hex him cause they won't take shit from a half blood. Like wether they left Lily alone in an effort to keep Severus on their side to recruit him or not, they seemed smarter then the marauders. Cause while they didn't try to befriend her obviously, they knew if they wanted Severus on their side they didn't target the one person he truly cares about.

Now wether Mulciber and Avery were really close to Severus or not they still didn't target Lily or say shit cause I feel like they would considering how much James goes after her so they'd hear a lot about her. I feel like they'd attack her out of annoyance or berate her incase they thought she believed she was all that but apparently not cause Lily doesn't bring anything up and I know damn well she would have. still thinking about the fact that it's impossible for lu guang to have ever actually tried the "never meet cheng xiaoshi" strategy. if he avoids cheng xiaoshi and cheng xiaoshi dies anyway, then lu guang doesnt get the dive ability from him and he can't go back and try again. and we know he must have kept diving every time because he's here now. there can't ever have been a timeline where he resisted the urge to meet cheng xiaoshi. that's the one variable he absolutely has never actually tried. even in the donghua timeline (his last chance probably) he couldn't actually go through with it.

now consider this plus the theory that them staying apart is the actual solution to cheng xiaoshi surviving past september 12. the one thing that will save cheng xiaoshi is the one solution that lu guang will never manage to try. what if you were in a doomed hell evil time loop trying to save your qpp but you were the one dooming him all along. your presence in his life is what kills him. your love for him can't save him. you destroy him with your inability to let go. you can't trade your life for his life, you can only trade your relationship. and even though you know this, you just can't let him go. because if you let him go and your theory is wrong and he doesn't live, then you really can't get him back. it's game over. and you'd rather kill yourself trying and failing to do the impossible than face that leap of faith
