regarding romance involving your characters, im aware you've talked about how you likely wont engage in making content surrounding that topic (WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY FINE obviously), but do you mind if others do? i personally find a lot of enjoyment in those kinds of scenarios and itd be good to know if thats something you're fine with when it comes to your own creations. (im sure you get enough asks about romance already, apologies!!)
and related to this, are there any strict boundaries or hard lines youd prefer not to be crossed when it comes to fan content of them? even anything that just makes you uncomfortable; if youre alright with sharing, that is <:-} i would really like to know just to be certain
Hi there! This is a very kind and conscientious message; thank you for that. ^^
Short answer: sure, I don't mind if people want to make romantic-themed art or writing with my characters. It's flattering!
I don't really have much in the way of hard limits when it comes to depictions of my characters (not counting nsfw/kink art, where I'm also pretty permissive but want to be communicated with in advance), but here are some personal boundaries when it comes to how people treat me, the human:
My characters aren't able to be "claimed" by people for exclusive shipping purposes (either with other characters or for self-shipping). When people get jealous of either other people who want to ship themselves or their characters with mine, or jealous of the characters' in-story love interests, it creates a highly uncomfortable situation for me.
I'm happy for people to enjoy their romantic fantasies with my characters, but I am not included in that bargain. Liking my character does not mean one knows or is in any kind of relationship with me, platonic or otherwise (especially not otherwise).
Likewise, I probably won't reciprocate a lot of self-shipping or Your OCxMy OC type stuff. Of course I'll comment and appreciate the effort and the expression of being interested in my silly stories! But I won't necessarily make a lot of ship art in return or trade head-canons or what have you (again, I just am not super into shipping and I have my own story stuff I already don't have time to draw orz).
My characters aren't made to be boyfriend material. I also have not drawn/written/shown every part of their awful personalities or actions. In the future, I might reveal something about them that makes them unappealing or unsexy. People can ignore the unpleasant qualities I give my characters in their fantasies/fics, but I won't change how I write or draw the character to make them better suited to someone's tastes (yes this is something people have asked me to do).
I feel like stating some of these things makes me look a bit neurotic, like "oh come on, that's not going to happen," but unfortunately all of these things have happened to me before when people got, I guess, a liiiittle too romantically invested in my characters.
So really, I don't have many boundaries in the way of content. Go forth and write or draw or just imagine what pleases you (general you). Write them getting married, having unrequited crushes, being one of the last survivors of the Titanic and sacrificing themselves so that the other character can live her best life beyond their doomed romance, etcetera.
All I ask is that the appreciation is centered on the character as an imaginary being, and I, the real and very boring human woman, am largely ignored in the equation and not pulled in to do matchmaking, officiate any weddings, or act as a conduit to manifest a tulpa.

trying to articulate my thoughts on simplicity and complexity in fandom found family (specifically the owl house)
recently i've seen a few really interesting posts about how fandom has the tendency to take the concept of found family and simplify the nuance down into a replica of traditional family structure.
and yeah, they've got a good point. even beyond just how "shipping luz and hunter is bad because they're siblings" is a bad take.
putting luz and eda into a mother-child relationship is strange because they don't have those roles in canon. how luz interacts with eda is completely different than how she interacts with her mom.
putting king and eda into a mother-child relationship can also get a bit tricky. eda takes him in assuming he's a pet and later on calls him her roommate. she never calls him her son, but does call both him and luz her kids.
pushing them into the roles of a traditional family ignores the most interesting aspects of their relationships. it ignores the ways in which eda isn't caretaking all that often, how luz and king have a lot more independence and autonomy than you'd expect in a traditional family structure. how aside from king taking on eda's last name and calling luz his sister, they don't refer to themselves as anything like a traditional family. it ignores that luz and king still have ties to camila and the titan.
so many fanfics in toh fandom revolve around the found family trope happening either at eda's or at camila's, but a majority of those don't seriously acknowledge the other ties the characters have.
still though. i think it's kind of a shame for posts to deride the simplification of the found family trope without acknowledging what's causing it. a lot of us (myself included) do enjoy the simplification of found family into more traditional roles because we know very well our own traditional families (i'd say biological, but i'm adopted so) will never be so comforting.
the found family trope itself is simplification, even when you don't put traditional roles into your found family. few of the even most nuanced found family fics acknowledge that often the closest relationships of our lives can be temporary, or only so high quality temporarily.
sometimes the best, closest, most healing relationships of your life will only last for a few years or even less. then someone will move or both of you will change and it's gone or its not as good anymore. and that's normal.
but no one really wants to read that. i read a fic recently where after everything, hunter and luz realize they actually aren't good friends and don't have much in common. it was nuanced and beautifully written and i hated it. it was so discomforting.
simplifying complex relationships into the found family trope (relationships that will be close forever) makes them less interesting but more comforting. simplifying the found family trope into more traditional family roles (brother and sister, mother and child) makes them less interesting but more comforting.
so then everyone has to pick the range of how much nuance and how much comfort they want in their fic. i'm not gonna pretend either is inherently better.

AOT CHARACTERS! AT HOGWARTS ★ masterlist.
genre: hogwarts au | notes: just my own personal interpretations & ideas so you are welcome to disagree! i thought long and hard about these... :P & i really worked a lot so hope u guys enjoy!!! wanna do hcs for these guys too !
★ part of the "harry potter" series
Tumblr media
“I’ve done this job for centuries, on every student’s head I’ve sat, of thoughts I take inventories, for I’m the famous Sorting Hat, I’ve sorted high, I’ve sorted low, I’ve done the job through thick and thin / So put me on and you will know / Which House you should be in.”
Tumblr media
GRYFFINDOR ; levi, jean, connie, historia, furlan, colt, marcel.
levi is one of the bravest men in the attack on titan universe, and i think in a modern timeline, he would still be incredibly brave, loyal and fiercely focused. he is honest and knows that what he believes in is his own personal truth. at hogwarts, levi would be less inclined to participate in house rivalry and cares little for his sigil, but i think his personality suits gryffindor -- he is candid and upfront, but not sinister. not exactly unfriendly, but a little distanced, but protective when provoked.
jean, like levi, is known for his bravery and courage, naturally taking a leadership role. he would be a role-model for many younger (and even older) gryffindors and would find pride in his colours and sigil. he is very level-headed and can be ignorant and conceited, but he does what he thinks is the right thing to do rather than what he personally wants.
connie is sometimes irrational, but with a strong heart of gold like the sigil of gryffindor. like a lion, connie's moods change and he can be a little bit flustered, and easily led by others, but his loyalty to his personal causes and to his friends are unmatched. although not the bravest person in gryffindor, connie's slow-wit makes for sharp humour and a natural comforting aura that gryffindor's adore and cling to. if he had to, connie would fight for a cause, but just because he needs more time to feel brave than others does not mean that he is a coward.
historia can easily put her life on the line for a cause she believes in, and i could see her being perfect in gryffindor. occasionally, historia can be reckless and bold, trying to challenge a norm, but she is also level-headed and intelligent enough to know when a fight is not hers to win or lose. she is heroic, sometimes pointlessly, but renowned for her generosity, cleverness and loyalty that needs no house colours.
furlan is a shadow, enjoying the buzz of gryffindor and bringing his selective energy to a group. he is smart, and hardworking, but sometimes selective on who to give his time to and when to give it, making him perfect for the spectrum of gryffindor that is down to earth and chill. yet he has the charisma of a lion, proud of his house and his own being, slightly toeing the line of arrogance when wanted.
marcel & colt share the same qualities of being undying devotees. they will be the poster boys for gryffindor, excelling in all notable traits, the textbook definition of a gryffindor. even when they are not in their house colours, their personalities are so in tune with the expected qualities of a gryffindor that those around them are acutely aware of what house they belong to. not slightly intimidating or unkind, they are the kinds of gryffindors who people just like, who stay out of trouble when preferred but can stir up a conversation when the situation demands it.
“You might belong in Gryffindor / Where dwell the brave at heart / Their daring, nerve, and chivalry / Set Gryffindors apart.”
Tumblr media
HUFFLEPUFF ; reiner, falco, sasha, marco, isabel, niccolo
reiner struggles, but he will not go down without a fight. he is one of the most hardworking students in both his house and year (a fact known by many) and he seemingly dominates on the quidditch fields. he is the big brother of his house, helping break the stereotype of a hufflepuff being weak, irrelevant, uninspiring. reiner always felt like an outsider to hufflepuff, thinking he had a lack of moral code, an occasional blurring of right and wrong, a streak of competitiveness unlike other hufflepuffs. but he is laid back and accepting, friendly and empathetic, wanting to live peacefully and often getting dragged into conflicts by his peers or by those who see him as competition. he is very modest, often downplaying his own greatness, enjoying the life as a hufflepuff as it keeps him away from the buzz, just the way he likes it.
falco is shy, cheerful, inquisitive, everything that embodies a hufflepuff. he is extremely open-minded, happy to have his opinion changed if somebody can explain it to him well enough. falco avoids confrontations, enjoying friendships with other students and if he can't seek a friendship, then it's better to avoid them all together. he is studious, but not keen on homework, doing his best and doing it so that it satisfies him is important!
sasha is curious, often obnoxious and loud and over the top, but with no hard feelings and a bubbly personality that reeks of forced friendliness. sasha won't argue with somebody who is standing in her way- like a small animal, with special connections to the earth, sasha would rather accept defeat and cooperate than confront. but she is willing to stand up for things she personally believes in, vicious like a badger. if she saw anybody teaming up on those less able to defend themselves, one could imagine sasha and reiner teaming up to show other houses that the badgers can bite, too, and not all hufflepuff's are docile.
marco is too trusting, making him suited to hufflepuff due to his slight naivety, but general good heart and will. he is unproblematic and calm, with a smile on his face, giving the impression of slight lunacy or absurd friendliness. marco is always willing to help those in need, but can easily retract that kindness as quick as he gives if he feels that person is undeserving of his help. he is academically inclined enough, taking inspiration from several hufflepuff celebrities who went on to be big names in the wizard world, but sometimes lacking social awareness, making him a character more comfortable in his own environment surrounded by his own people as opposed to in the hub of student life.
isabel is cheerful, loyal and just- three fine traits that make her a perfect hufflepuff family member. but don't assume that the yellow robes make her a pushover. unlike some of her classmates, isabel knows how to put someone in their place, often giving the impression that isabel would have been perfect in any house. that being said, she is driven by a crowd, more confident with her friends and will likely be afraid to stand up for herself or others if she didn't have the support of her friends around her. isabel is not held back by the house segregations, and can often be seen around other house tables. isabel is like a spirit carrying herself to any student who she finds interesting, but if they bite, she might need a few days to fess up to one of her friends about what happened before she finds the courage to show them that they messed with the wrong girl.
niccolo has few interests, but enjoys the hufflepuff common room because of the location, submerged near the kitchens. he is slightly snobbish, but finds that the equality of hufflepuff was exactly what he needed to loosen up. he isn't the most academically inclined, and isn't too interested in being big or bold or brave. he is peaceful, practical- keeping his skills and interests personal and not often trying to make friends with others.
“You might belong in Hufflepuff / Where they are just and loyal / Those patient Hufflepuffs are true / And unafraid of toil.”
Tumblr media
RAVENCLAW ; hange, armin, gabi, hitch, pieck, yelena, onyankopon
hange is eccentric, sometimes even seen as outlandish and crazy, but their intelligence is renowned enough to earn them a spot in the ravenclaw tower. they are incredibly philosophical, yearning to know more about the world and deep diving into certain studies that are of interest to them. they aren't necessarily the smartest person at hogwarts, but they are an expert in things that are of interest to them, and are always thinking about ways to explore different ideas. they aren't afraid to break a few rules, often finding loopholes in norms and challenging what is morally (and sometimes perhaps ethically) right. they are interested in approaching things in different ways to other students that to them make no sense, but hange always seems to find an alternative, a new way of thinking and being, that others simply never think of. their incredible intelligence and perspective makes them a suitable candidate for this house, and their daring nature puts them on par with slytherins and gryffindors, looking for ways to be ahead of the curve.
armin is a wild card, one of the reasons why ravenclaws are sometimes treated with distance and disdain. armin knows how to use his wit to his advantage, challenging ideas in academia and debate, known to be a slight gaslighter and manipulator. armin can sway the opinion in a room, charm without any potions. like hange, armin can bend the rules, although he would prefer not to, always a bit cautious of the consequences of his own actions. he can get existential, enhancing his desires to learn and become an expert in his field. you can count on armin to carry a class discussion, filled with questions and ideas.
gabi is quick, and thinks on her feet, making her impeccable with mental mathematics, quick fire debates, school challenges and such. gabi is slightly ignorant, almost shallow, but with her own moral code that makes sense to her pureblood ancestors. in some ways, she is sometimes mistaken as slytherin for her occasional sarcasm and blunt honesty, but this is gabi utilising her quick wit and mental strength. she has a hard time being wrong, always believing that she is ahead of those around her, but sometimes she can be brought back to earth and finds that being humbled is a necessary human experience. gabi is logical, rational, sometimes cruel with her beliefs, but she always has a source to cite her words, never afraid to preach what she believes, arguing her case until the very end.
hitch is headstrong, never frightened to speak her mind. sometimes too confident with the assets she knows she has, hitch can appear condescending and belittling, losing her patience with people less competent than her. but hitch likes to socialise, and is one of the few ravenclaws who dislikes taking her classwork to her dorm, valuing that sometimes knowledge comes through life without the need of academia. hitch learns from those around her, more inspired by social events and discourse than a written text or puzzle. although hitch can be a little bit ambitious, she is by no means an overachiever.
pieck is dreamy, very open to new concepts and ideas proposed to her and she is a natural achiever. pieck never likes to study, but she retains knowledge like a sponge, applying it to everyday life where she least expects it. she knows the power of her own mind, soul and being and feels like it's a waste of time to try and prove herself to others. she doesn't push herself if she feels that it would be a waste of time to do so, and she enjoys winning people over with her thoughts and feelings. she'll do what she needs to without being too ambitious, accepting the strength of her own knowledge and feeling that where she is now is where she needs to be, with little thought to her future or the past as it travels by.
yelena, like armin, disturbs other students with her intense intelligence and expert knowledge in specific areas. yelena might seem unassuming sometimes, but her accurate precision with charms and dark arts is sometimes chilling. she can talk her way out of trouble by remembering specific details about others, making her often exceptionally good at recounting spells and performing enchantments and charms. she is a little bit of a loner, looking up to other students in silence and having little to say unless spoken to. her energy can be uncomfortable to others, which is why some might mistake her for another house, but there is no doubt in yelena's intelligence and how she can use it to her advantage very effortlessly.
onyankopon borders on genius. the sorting hat didn't think twice about it. he is exceptionally talented and academically inclined, and eager to share his knowledge with those around him, even and especially those in other houses. he is a little bit loud, but welcoming to all, not at all discriminatory to those below his mental level. onyankopon also believes in justice and what is right-- he's not afraid to challenge authority if he believes that something can be done better, and sometimes he can be seen as argumentative, even misleading and untrustworthy. but onyankopon finds challenging ideas to be entertaining, and he will always try to think outside the box and encourage others to do the same.
“Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw, if you’ve a ready mind / Where those of wit and learning / Will always find their kind.”
Tumblr media
SLYTHERIN ; eren, mikasa, erwin, annie, ymir, bertholdt, porco, floch, zeke
eren is devious, firm in his ways and beliefs and never afraid to provoke those who may look down on him or others around him. this is what makes him perfect for slytherin -- he is driven by passion and sometimes dumb strength, going headfirst into arguments, never really thinking about the effects things he does or says will have on other people. he is very aware of the world around him, and knows when to bow to authority, although he prefers to find his own flow and follow it. he knows what he wants and he has it in his head how he will achieve what he knows is his destiny. sometimes a little bit intense with his feelings, eren is charasmatic and somehow likeable, invoking powerful influence over others with his ideas and cool stance on life. he will never give up on what is important to him, and he will never back down from protecting those who are important to him, even going as far as to place himself in awkward situations just to save the face of others. he is extremely profound and thoughtful, and likely excels in academic and personal discussions, enjoying things that stimulate his brain and finding it fun when he can get hands on with an idea or a theory or a practice.
mikasa is sometimes quite one dimensional. she has her goals and her interests, and very little exists outside of those things that sometimes define her life. she is goal focused, and doesn't like to stray from things that are of paramount importance to her. she is intelligent, cunning and extremely calculative. mikasa never runs at dangers or obstacles head on, not unless it's life or death (which at hogwarts, honestly, seems likely). she likes to know what is at stake and what she can gain or lose in different situations. mikasa feels strongly about what she is interested in, and is protective of her friends and family. sometimes, her extremely stoic personality gives off an impression of unfriendliness, but mikasa is generous and compassionate, even if it's not always in everybody's face just how down to earth she may be.
erwin is a role-model for slytherins; he is level headed and calm, with extreme patience that borders on frightening. his ability to stay calm and focused is somehow intimidating to others, and he always seems to know what he is talking about. he has an air of trustworthiness and reliability, but he's not an overly comforting or friendly student. erwin can tolerate others, and he does so with impersonal feelings. there are few students he genuinely cares about -- he sees the bigger picture of his future, and not many people around him matter in the grand scheme of things. erwin likes to follow the rules while sometimes reinventing them to suit him, and is an advocate for other students' needs, thoughts, desires. if you were ever having a hard time as a slytherin, you knew that erwin could help you out; he doesn't need to be violent and unkind to command respect from others.
annie, much like her peers above, is very impersonal, almost selfish. she has those who she enjoys more than others, but she is content with being a lone wolf and doing what needs to be done, caring little about whether or not it is the norm. annie has the potential to excel in her studies, but her talents lie elsewhere and so do her interests. she is a natural at what she does, only really struggling in the social sectors of student life. she is morbidly curious about the darkness of the world, but with very little desire to tie herself to a cause or a movement. annie wants to live her life according to her own desires-- if those around her don't want to join, then it's more for her on the journey to whatever it is she wants in life.
ymir is the stereotype of slytherin, but with the talent of making it look effortless. ymir can be unkind, and unhinged, with dark jokes and edgy discussions, always toeing the line of disrespectful. she can be friendly when she wants to be, and has no problem making room for herself in friendship groups, even with those outside of slytherin. but, know that ymir is unapologetic, and can be brutal with what she thinks and does. having all the trademark qualities of a slytherin, ymir has pride with her house and her robes, using it as a way to elevate her own status in the school body. slightly arrogant and insensitive, ymir still has the potential and capability of being a fiercely good friend, with questionable morals but morals nonetheless. if a situation is good for her, then she can accept it as good for her friends. ymir has an understanding of the world that she wants to share with others, but ymir can accommodate many beliefs at once if she wants to, and isn't afraid to criticise what she believes to be wrong, or just plain stupid.
bertholdt is slightly less obnoxious than the previous slytherins. he has a slight shyness that makes him look unassuming, and he prefers to be quiet when he can, observant in nature. his slight paranoia and ability to watch and study others and the world around him makes him a cautious and quick thinker. bertholdt considers every alternative and option before making a decision, sometimes overthinking and therefore picking the least preferable option. any unkindness bertholdt has he channels into his sports or incantations, but generally, bertholdt enjoys being an enigma, a support rather than an attack. he doesn't like to take control, but he is very trustworthy, and will follow a command or a rule to the dot and never admit defeat. that doesn't mean he's a doormat. if you're unlucky, you'll catch a glimpse of his cruelness and sadistic thoughts, something only a slytherin might be able to possess.
porco knows who he is, and he knows what he wants. craving leadership, porco is outspoken and candid, provoking thought and discussion. he values communication, he likes to know what he can about everything, likes to discuss if he's wrong and hear every voice out in the room before deciding how he feels. sometimes porco can be narrow-minded, too caught up in his own head, too confident in his ability and thoughts. he can be judgemental without being able to foresee the damage his words or actions can do, but unlike others, porco can accept his mistakes and repair them, seeking a fair environment, trying to find peace. he is smart and he can read the room fairly well and sometimes use it to his advantage, but there can be situations where porco overestimates his own ability and therefore appears overly confident, conceited and arrogant.
floch is somewhat sinister. sometimes, he can even frighten other slytherins with his preposterous ideas, his challenging morals. above all of that, floch is very driven by a cause, very easily led, very easily swayed. loyal to those who he believes are above him, floch finds it easy to join a group and claim an identity, likely having a reputation at hogwarts for somebody you should never try to cross. floch isn't a bully, and he wouldn't torture other students with misery if they didn't do something to deserve it. when crossed, floch can be ruthless, which is why his potentially dark nature is tied to the tarnished reputation of slytherin. he is quite respectful, never disrespecting authority or others, but that doesn't mean he won't argue his point, using other tactics to hold the floor and reign victorious.
zeke is two faced, untrustworthy yet oddly enjoyable. people like zeke, and know that he is the source of all gossip and drama, but they know to keep zeke at arms length. his moods can change depending on the day, depending on what happens around him. zeke has his own moral and ethical code, but can play along with the rules since it gets him ahead in life. he is intelligent enough to take advantage of what is in his environment, and he is convincing enough to enrapture the people around him and manipulate them with ideas and stories. zeke is studious, enjoying the library, but can appear sometimes lazy with his performances. he is all bark and no bite, provoking others and retreating once the damage is done, letting an argument stew after instigating it but never wanting to be involved. people hate to like zeke, but he has a charm that draws people in, like a predator to prey, but nobody can be certain what zeke might do to cross others, or what he might believe to be his next path in life.
“Or perhaps in Slytherin / You’ll make your real friends / Those cunning folks use any means / To achieve their ends.”

i finished blood of zeus and i'm going to try and formulate some of my thoughts on it here. i'll preface this by saying i really enjoyed the first season (it had some flaws, and there were parts i didn't like, but overall the story was interesting and i liked most of the portrayals). spoiler warning for season 2 ahead!
i had quite a few gripes with the show this season. it very much so felt like a set-up season (which is fine), but it also made the show feel very slow. one of my biggest complaints was actually about heron as the protagonist - i didn't mind him in season 1, but in this season, he felt so flat, boring, and irritating that i genuinely tuned out most of his scenes. his role in the story made sense in the first season, but now, everything feels much bigger than him and he has no reason to be involved in all of the godly drama. get him out of there lol. he has no understanding of the politics of olympus and is mortal, but he can shoot lightning and zeus liked him so he deserves to be a contender in who gets to lead them? HUH? (an oversimplification, i’m aware)
my second complaint was ares. i've seen a lot of people reiterate my feelings, that it was frustrating to see him portrayed so negatively, that his storyline with persephone was bad and that his antagonism was infuriating. which i also agree with. i think my biggest issue here is not that he was an antagonist, but that his motivations for antagonism were weak at best. ares sided with hera in season 1. he should NOT be able to parade himself around olympus the way he did this season - hera had to go into hiding and even poseidon was removed from the overall plot because of their deeds. but there seems to be no repercussions for ares, which is flaw number 1. flaw number 2 is that his reason for hating heron and being a general jerk is that he isn’t a bastard and deserves more renown than any of the others. i think it would have been FAR more interesting to make ares’ storyline centered not on his sense of superiority, but actually his jealousy (kind of the way wrath of the titans did it. in that film, he was jealous of perseus and the love zeus had for him). ares being jealous that, despite being zeus’ ‘heir’ in this context, and one of his few legitimate children, he didn’t have his father’s love, and he loathes heron for it. you don’t really get that sense from him in this show, and i think it would have been far more compelling for his anger to have come from envy instead of pride. the persephone stuff i just can’t even touch on because why.
my third complaint is actually about demeter and persephone - demeter in particular. her being the villain is so frustrating, but i can’t exactly be surprised. i knew the moment that this show portrayed hades and persephone as a loving couple with a romantic origin that demeter was going to be villainized. but the way they did it is ridiculous. she’s not a grieving mother - she’s pure evil. the storyline with the cordyceps was fucked (and also… really insignificant, somehow). but i think the part that aggravates me the most is that it completely ignores why demeter froze the earth the first time. she did not do it to be spiteful, or out of anger. she didn’t do it to punish anyone. she was a grieving mother, a mother who had lost her daughter and no one in the world seemed able to help her, and her grief manifested in dying crops. in this show, she’s just vindictive, cruel, and genuinely terrifying, and i cannot stand that she is once again being villainized in one of the FEW greek myths that actually centers a woman’s emotions and does not belittle them.
fourth - i love hades and persephone, but their little scheme was so wishy washy. hades as an antagonist felt half-baked, and the fact that no one on olympus actually saw this coming is a miracle because everything hades did felt really dumb and obvious. i feel like there were a hundred different ways the two of them could have gotten what they wanted. i also loathe the idea that zeus cheated his way onto the throne - i’m glad the show didn’t actually blame him for it, that hera took the fall, but i think that the fates work a little more powerfully than that - and that cheating wouldn’t be possible in this circumstance. zeus did earn the throne and he deserved it, and i will die on that hill. (my other complaint is hades and persephone’s design. blond persephone is the bane of my existence lol and hades looking like an older ares was… sigh).
a few other things i didn’t like: the way the story of typhon unfolded. at first i thought they were implying that typhon was just. plain old defeated by all the gods together, and i was frustrated, but they sort of fixed it by stating zeus was the only one who stayed to fight him. however, the lack of focus on zeus in this story means that they’re ignoring the personal stake zeus had in needing the eleusinian stone under his control. it was also weird that they implied then that there was no king of the gods until AFTER typhon, which is… a long time, actually.
the gorgo plotline also felt kind of unnecessary. seraphim’s arc could have easily been about his mothers instead and we could have felt the same level of sympathy but alas.
there were some things i really did like though! and those are as follows:
athena and hestia. zeus trusting the two of them with the very stone that gives him his power was beautiful, and i love how hard the two ladies fought to keep it safe. hestia wrecking the keres was incredible (and also hilarious to me. anyone who read my fic ‘mnemosyne’s curse’ will know that hestia scorched the keres in that story.. and then did in blood of zeus which was amazing haha). the inclusion of hestia in the story was nice. and i really loved the way the show portrayed athena’s intelligence - not just in combat or in solving problems, but she was quite emotionally intelligent as well which was a nice touch.
i liked hera’s attempts at reconciliation. i think they could have been more detailed, but her defending zeus at his trial broke my heart and i loved the way she handled the conflict. poseidon as well - his willingness to admit that zeus should have been king, and him backing out of most of the conflict for the throne was a very interesting touch i didn’t anticipate but really enjoyed.
zeus in tartarus. i mean, i didn’t actually like it because it broke my heart but him repenting and still ending up in tartarus was painful and i cried a lot i’m not gonna lie.
zeus kid solidarity - watching them work together and fight was incredible, and i adore all of their character designs so much.
melinoe and zagreus. if you know me you know i’m a fiend for the underworld family and seeing them was so cute. i just wish melinoe’s design was spookier, but alas, all of the gods seem to be very ‘pretty’ so i get why they didn’t.
every scene with zeus. his leadership shining through, his quiet acceptance of his fate, his humbleness. y’all can say what you want about him, but he proved in this season why he deserved to be king, and his absence clearly drove everyone else to some horrible acts as well - meaning what they condemned him for is not something only he is guilty of (what gaia said at the end). i will defend that man to my dying breath, and it pains me to see him this way but it’s also so good.
i am very excited to see typhon as the villain next season. i’m hoping this means they will set zeus free to help them defeat the foe only he was brave enough to stand up against uwu

Hi again! If you don't mind me asking (again), what are your top 5 (or top 7) favorite media ever (can be anime/manga, tv series, books, movies, games, etc)? Why love them? Thanks if you want to answer....
Omg idk why but the question gave me flashbacks to my middle school hyperfixations…
7) My Little Pony: I guess this is how I come out as a brony. It’s honestly just my comfort show. I mainly love it because I love Rainbow Dash
6) Musical Theatre: I can’t narrow down which ones I liked more than others tbh but my main ones were Hamilton, Heathers, Beetlejuice, In The Heights, and the Waitress. That’s all I can think of right now, but Hamilton was probably my favorite now that I think about it. I used to listen to the entire musical three times a day in high school without fail💀
I just really like music and stories so having them mixed together blew my mind. I was actually a wannabe song writer for like 6 years and even went to college for composition for a while. That’s just a little bit of Puff lore though :)
5) Steven Universe: I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS SHOW MANAGES TO MAKE ME CRY WITHOUT FAIL EVERY TIME I REWATCH IT!! The fact that it’s able to hit hard topics in a way that kids can understand is extremely admirable to me, and I honestly love everything about it. Plus it’s one of the only shows with a majority female cast where every single one is actually written well… and they’re like actual people with legitimate flaws. Cartoon Network never misses
4) Deadpool: I say this, but basically anything marvel related. Deadpool is just my favorite marvel character and honestly… I’m not sure why. I just latched onto him and ever since then, I’ve had a growing collection of random stuff with his face on it. Including a chair…
But yeah the Deadpool movies and Deadpool: Samurai, are like my favorite things to rewatch/reread. Again, it’s just a comfort thing.
3) My Hero Academia: it’s so embarrassing to admit but bnha changed my life. It changed the way I viewed the world and how I view my relationships. I know that seems so stupid but it actually got me to enjoy reading and it made me pay more attention to the kind of media I consume. It legitimately made me grow as a person. I feel bad for putting it at 3 considering this is a bnha blog though… I absolutely love it and it plagues my brain, but I just get so emotional over the next two.
2) Attack on Titan: I don’t think tumblr talks about attack on titan enough. Like bnha, it made me reevaluate how I viewed the world and made me consider things outside of myself. I was a pretty selfish and inconsiderate teenager, as most are, but aot just kind of hammered into my brain that there are more problems in the world than just mine. It’s dumb, but watching aot and coming to understand it was the first step in me developing more “radicalized” political views and just overall setting my moral code and my values in stone.
Honestly the only reason why this isn’t just tied with bnha is because I never get tired of watching it ig? I got tired of watching bnha really fast and clung to the manga after a short while, but aot I can rewatch over and over again and never get sick of it.
1) Nana: I think it’s just cuz I’m in a really bad Nana phase rn, but this story just breaks me. I relate to Hachi a lot and again, the show just changed the way I view my relationships and made me realize that I’m my own worst enemy by letting myself indulge in the company of toxic people simply out of fear of being alone or unloved. I ignore the bad moments in favor of trying to savor the good ones as much as I can, and I feel undeserving of anything else. Minus relating to Hachi a lot, I really like the music and the style and just everything about it has me in a chokehold rn. Maybe it’ll pass, but I honestly don’t think it will. I’m in pretty deep.
Anyways, that’s all I got! Thanks for the question! I love talking about my favorite things :)

Heya Storm,
here's the one that suggested you No. 6. I'm really happy you like the anime.😊 I love the story and it's one of the few mangas I own. I'd love to watch a sequel to see how the characters evolve and how the city develolps. Unfortunately, since hardly anyone of my friends or familiy is interested in anime/manga, I'm particulary pleased. So if you want someone else to talk about, I'm really happy to be the one. By the way... do you know Uragiri wa Boku? 😅 And wich of the other proposed animes do you already know? Do you plan to watch one of the others?
Anyway, i finally had some time to catch up since I joined tumblr (by the way, I joined because i looked for others who love BTS and Jikook as I do and stumbled about one of your posts. Thank you for that! Your masterlist is georgeous and helped me a lot as baby army but it is soooo much. 😍🥲) and was shocked and sad how toxic my timeline has become. I'm so sorry you're being attacked and I feel I didn't/couldn't support you and other bloggers. I am sorry for that and try to be a better person next time.😓 I think you doing amazing. I really enjoy every one of your posts, especially those that are long, and I can't understand at all how someone can blame you for anti-behavior or somthing like that. All I see is how much you love BTS (and books/animes). Your posts about the diffrent albums are also great, I really hope you will do it in the future too. In general - I really miss reading your point of view about current events, etc. so much that it surprised me. Of course I unterstand what led you retreat and I think you're very strong that you post again. It hurts me that tumblr is no longer a safe place for you and I hope so much that this will change again some day or that you may find another good platform (if so, please take me with you🥺). I'm glad you have your family and wonderful friends.
I've been thinking a long time about whether to send this message at all. After some of your posts, I feel that I really don't have the right to do so and I shouldn't bother you. Finally I will send it to you, because I'm really happy you like No. 6 and I want to recommend Uragiri. Feel free to ignore the other part. Furthermore, I just want to apologize and wish you all the best. Sorry for my long message, please answer only if you have the time and desire. Not important if its here or as a DM. I would love any answer.
I hope you could enjoy Yoongis concert and/or can (re-)watch it next weekend.
Have a nice day/evening/night - Lyn
Hi Lyn! Thanks for reaching out. I appreciate your kind words. Thank you so much 💜 I'll DM you after posting this so that my DMs will be open to you there as well to continue to talk books/anime if you want! And thank you for the rec for No 6! I loved it! And I recommended it immediately to another friend, who I force her and her fiance to watch everything I like 🤣
(literally I message her edits of animes to convince them to watch what I want them too, I've taken over their TV and I'm not sorry 🤣. Z, when you read this, know im waiting for yall to tell me which anime ive mentioned you are watching next!)
Tumblr media
I've added all the ones you rec'd in the comments that I haven't seen yet (and now also Uragiri!) To my crunchylist to watch! I'm just blind faith trusting you (and other people who've messaged me/commented) lol on these recs so we shall see how it all goes!!
Tumblr media
As for what I've seen so far? Here is my list:
- Attack on Titans (watched through Season 2 then DNF, too much graphic gore and blood and it scared me, im a wimp lol)
- Ouran High School Host Club (cute but sooo tropey lol)
- Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood (LOVED)
- Demon Slayer (LOVED - but haven't seen season 3 yet because I watch with my husband and I have to wait for him to be home for us to watch together)
- Yuri On Ice (LOVED)
- Your Name (made me cry!)
- Naruto (amazing)
- Naruto Shippuden (LOVED)
- Sasaki and Miyano (so cute I died)
- Buddy Daddies (tons of fun!)

- No. 6 (sooo good, so interesting, I want more)
- Given (love it, so cute)
- Hunter x Hunter (In Progress. I'm like 40 eps in and Watching with husband)
Tumblr media
I have read the Manga for Yona of the Dawn, Spy x Family, Inuyasha and Haikyuu too. And I've read the first volume of the Manga for The Case Study of Vanitas so far! And for my birthday I got the entire Demon Slayer Manga box set so I'm excited to read those soon!!

I haven't played all the games and I'm still kinda new to the fandom but that Lance comment was so gross. I watched some of the series and I enjoyed his character even if he wasn't like game wesker. I didn't know he'd passed away but jesus christ imagine laughing over a real man's death because you didn't like the way he played a character.
I do like re5 wesker more but series wesker was really good still?? It didn't click til halfway through that his name was wesker bc I played 5 first but he was still really good.
Series wesker appreciation, please and thank you
yeah it’s genuinely so insensitive. i spoke to one of her close friends and sent the screenshot to her and even she was kind of shocked she would say something like that. it’s actually disgusting that her hatred for a character translates into irl where she goes on ACTUALLY making fun of deaths if they involve wesker. that’s a new type of hatred and it’s not a good one
lance was so much more to me than his roles he played. as a big destiny player and titan main, knowing i won’t be able to hear zavala’s voice anymore hurts. he cared about his roles. he had a real passion for them. even he played the games and tried to get caught up with the community. he loved what he did and the community loved him. this is just one of his roles that he’s done, but that role is still very important to both me and many others who enjoyed the destiny games. i played them since they came out and i always enjoyed zavala’s soft but strong tone. it felt comforting like you knew he was there for you. to guide you and help you even though you knew you were more than capable of handling yourself.
lance cared. he loved what he did. he wasn’t there for just the money and he genuinely put effort into his performances. he meant a lot to me and seeing someone disrespect him all because of a role people weren’t fond of genuinely makes me so mad because it isn’t even his fault. nobody deserved to be laughed at like that.
you have your right to hate any character you want, that is your opinion and that’s okay. but sometimes there’s a line you gotta draw with how far that hatred will go. if you let your hatred for something go as far as making fun of the dead you need to evaluate your life choices. that’s just fucked.
sorry for the big rant but you can see that lance meant a lot to me. i’m just so disappointed someone would be so ignorant as to laugh at his death.

Late happy birthday Chloe! 🎂
For the celebration: 🍪
About me: INTJ female, fluent in sarcasm and irony, a little harsh around the edges but generally kind and helpful. Perhaps a bit to reserved and impartial at times which makes me look uninterested in people. Always trying to keep my cool and with tendency to overanalyze everything. Perfect mix of a daydreamer and night thinker. Imagination and planning are my greatest assets. On the dark side, I can be passive and indifferent, and I'm very self conscious when it comes to my look. And I got my walls high.
Thank you so much for the bday wishes! <3 And thank you for requesting (adding the marvel and dc fandoms)! I had a lot of fun with this, I hope you enjoy the matchup! <3333
Marvel;
Bucky Barnes:
Tumblr media
🐺 You were part of the Avengers when Bucky joined (pretending Civil War never happened), a lot of the Avengers took a long time to warm up to Bucky, and it was the same for you too, but you grew to like him a bit, he was pretty handsome and all
🐺 You felt like Bucky was a bit like you in the regards of being a bit reserved and indifferent, you wanted Bucky to feel safe in the tower, so you gained the courage to talk to him; it took a while, after over-thinking a bit and even backing out a few times, you made you way over to him
🐺 Bucky was a bit defensive and wary of you, and it took him a while to actually reply to you when you awkwardly welcomed him to the team
🐺 The two of you didn't talk to each other at all after that, not even when passing by each other or making coffee in the kitchen; but slowly, very slowly, did both your walls come down when you realized that the other wasn't a threat
🐺 It started off pretty slow, making coffee for Bucky when he woke up or Bucky would save you a seat at the table during breakfast, lunch, or dinner
🐺 Before long, you began to grow feelings for Bucky, becoming a bit overwhelmed at the realization as you began to overthink everything again; what you didn't know was Bucky was feeling the same
🐺 Steve had noticed this, cause he is so in tuned with his best friend, and talked to Bucky about his feelings for you since they were obvious to ol' Stevie, in which Bucky first tried to ignore, until Steve really spoke to him about it, telling him to ask you out on a nice date or just confess his feelings to you already
🐺 Easier said than done, was all Bucky could say to himself, his own insecurities getting the best of him
🐺 When Bucky did confess to you, it was nerve-racking and anxiety-attack central, but when he did tell you, his voice quiet yet deep, you were overjoyed firstly; though you began to question why he would like you, Bucky helped you stop your worrying, taking your hands in his, telling you that he was in fact in love with you
🐺 You really couldn't be happier, being with the man of your dreams, someone you day dreamed about and thought about at night when you couldn't sleep, you were so happy he returned your feelings and you couldn't wait for the future
--
DC;
Richard Grayson:
Tumblr media
🐦 You were a pretty recent addition to the Teen Titans, having an amazing power that you had to join them, as Batman didn't really say, he was more serious about it, and he really didn't call your powers 'awesome' but you thought maybe he did like them enough to let you join the group
🐦 When you joined, it was pretty awkward, having no super friends and everyone just staring at you when you first started there, it was like being a transfer student in those terrible teen movies, having to stand in front of the class and tell everyone about yourself
🐦 Well, minus really talking about yourself, most of the team was a bit apprehensive of you, and you were the same with them, not fully really trusting them yet either; you knew it was going to take a while for you to warm up to them individually
🐦 And it did take a while, a good couple of months for each person, but that last person you befriended was Wonder Boy, also known as Dick Grayson; well, you didn't have the pleasure to call him Dick yet, still on Richard which was slightly odd when everyone else called him Dick
🐦 Dick was very dull and meh when he was around you, you being still sort of a new person and part of the team, he still didn't know what to make of you, and sort of didn't trust you, but if his dad, Bruce, thought you were good enough to join, and trustworthy enough, then you must be a good person
🐦 You thought Dick was pretty rude, especially to you during missions as the Teen Titans, which you didn't really care for, and you could only deal with for so long, it wasn't long until you broke and told him to stop being so mean; he was shocked nonetheless, and from then on, hadn't been so disrespectful to you and actually treated you as a member of the team
🐦 Over time, Dick began to grow fond of you, getting that giddy feeling he hadn't felt since Amy, which shocked him, making him sort of avoid you slightly; you noticed this and wanted to know what was up, but you didn't really say anything, but you did stay up thinking about Dick, realizing that you were doing that a lot lately, and slowly realizing yourself that you liked the bird vigilante (you even knew that he hated pineapple on pizza, you were in love)
🐦 It then took another long while until either of you fessed up, the rest of the team realizing something was up by all the awkward and shy glances the two of you were sharing often, so Starfire was going to do something about these untold feelings
🐦 She did her job and succeeded, making the two of you "meet her" at the roof of their headquarters, only for you and Dick to be there by yourselves, and to say it was awkward... It was awkward; it took some anxiety-filled small talk to get Dick to just blurt out that he likes you
🐦 You couldn't help but smile, staring down at the world below as you kicked your legs as they hung off the building, slowly, you confessed your feelings for the young man too, as slowly, slowly his fingers intertwined with yours

Until I Fall - Part Seven
Levi Ackerman x Fem Reader.
Eventual romance but this is a slow burn, definitely angsty and darker. It will also focus a lot on Hange, Erwin and the original scouts. Eren and the 104th training corps will be around but I’m focusing on the older characters in here. Your self insert name is ‘Azeria Becker’ pronouns She/Her/Hers. Using a name because don’t like using ‘y/n’.
Cannon universe. I wrote this for myself but I hope that you enjoy it, too lol <3
As you stood in front of Levi on that final day, you couldnt help but remember every last moment of your time in the scouts. How had you gone from that scrawny young rookie trying to fight titans to Erwin’s right-hand soldier who overthrew the government and was about to charge to your death? It was never fair, you’d never get enough time together. Standing before him, his eyes full of the sadness of the truth, it hurt too much to say Goodbye, don’t forget me. I’ll love you forever, so instead you said the only word that you could manage to speak; Survive.
cw: imagine literally every awful/gory thing that happens in SNK. Death, violence and gore. Drinking, sex.
I will be releasing 2 chapters at a time every few days. You can find all chapters here.
Tumblr media
You were up and ready for your early morning training faster than usual. It was so hard to fall asleep, you were far too excited; Ilse and you talked for hours about the next expedition. And Levi. You hadn't expected him to do this for you. It's not that he was unkind, its just that it seemed like he found you annoying. Maybe you were wrong about him. There was so much that you still didn't know. He was older than you by a few years- not too many, but life seemed to have wore his edges down. His eyes were tired and you could tell he had been through hell. Maybe one day he would finally open up and tell you more.
The winter air felt like ice when you went out to train int he morning. "Hey, moron," Levi remarked as he met with you in front of your dormitory, "Wipe that stupid look off your face, it's too early to be this happy."
You kept walking, happy to ignore his grumpy disposition.  "You know what," you said with a little hum, "You can't ruin my mood today. I'm too excited about joining Captain Erwin on the next expedition."
"Tsk. Don't get your hopes up too high. If you stay this bad it'll be your first and last time out with us." He groaned, but you knew that you were up for it. You had only gotten faster and stronger since the 26th expedition out, and it was bound to be easier this time.
"You're just mad that I'm as good as you now, and that's why you don't want me to join," You nudge him a little and he grumbled. "Let's just see what happens, brat."
Training with Erwin was not like training with your previous squad. They spent more time sitting around tables and planning than running drills. Erwin was confident and to the point. They had new gear that he wanted to test out; signal guns that had different colours to indicate whether a titan was spotted, the area was clear, or if there was a problem. It made you nervous to have to test out new equipment with them; you had never even fought alongside them, what if you messed everything up?
Finally, it was time to drill. "Azeria, how are you feeling?" Erwin asked you. He seemed kind, but he wasn't soft when he spoke. He was like a king among men when it came to the scout; so many of you were rough around the edges, scared and motivated by survival. Captain Erwin never seemed to feel any of it, or at least if he did it was buried in some vault deep behind his eyes. He was always perfectly composed. "I'm okay, Captain. I've never used a signal gun like this before." You examined the contraption in your hands; it wasn't like the handguns you had seen the Military Police carrying; instead it was small and light, with a wide barrel for the smoke bombs.
"You'll be just fine. It's a new tactic for everyone, just do your best."
And so, you did. Even though it was just training, everyone seemed as ready as they'd be in a real battle. Mike and Levi were by far the fastest, disappearing into the trees before your eyes. It only became apparent as to where they were when you saw the smoke signal up in the sky. Hange; they were the boldest. When a 'titan' was spotted she always found a creative way to maneuver herself into a high range spot as fast as she could. Her and Moblit took on the titans as a team. You were paired with Oliver; a soldier from the training corps before you. He was young, but had managed to kill 2 titans during his first two missions. "Okay, rookie, here's the plan; you do the spotting and I'll do the killing," He said. You let out a snort.
"Fine, but you'll have to keep up with me!" You clipped your horse and ran straight ahead into the woods. "Hey!" He yelled after you. You were determined to prove yourself to Erwin and the group; you wouldn't be slowing them down. You spotted the fake titan in the bushes and let out a flair. "Good, Azeria! Keep it up!" Erwin called from behind. Using your ODM gear you shot up into the trees to practice luring the titan, Oliver flew in a few seconds later and sliced the neck. "How are you so fast?!" He exclaimed, landing on the tree beside you. It made you even more determined to do well.
Behind, Erwin was riding with Hange, watching the teams youngest soldiers. "Hmmf," Hange let out a laugh, "Not bad for a trainee." Erwin smiled. "Not bad at all."
After running the drill you were exhausted. Dinner could not come fast enough. Erwin's squad was the first in; the group was so experienced that training at times seemed a little pointless. There was no way Levi and Mike needed to run drills.
"You did well today," Hange said, joining you at the table. Your cheeks were pink with exhaustion and you couldn't even imagine what your hair looked like. "Thank you, but I think you all just make it easy for me." They smiled, "A team is only good if everyone works together. Just because you're new doesn't mean that you're worse; we've just had more time to fight those monsters than you."
You paused, staring at your plate. "I just don't want to hold us back. When we're back out there."
"You won't. I know you wont. Making it back alive from your first expedition is a good sign that you'll survive, and if you keep doing what you did today, you'll be fine." Hange replied, "Plus, I'm certain that Levi's been making sure that you're ready." You looked over to him, sitting down at the other end of the table. He glanced over at you, and let out a smile. You felt your chest tighten a little and your cheeks go pink. Why do I want to impress you so bad? All you wanted was to see him smile more.

Im really enjoying scarlet and violet. Our games have a lot of bugs, but none are game breaking. Only once have encountered an intense graphical error (a lot of unintended flashing) that i force resolved pretty quickly, fortunately, that I would count in the "hard unacceptable no" category of complaints about games.
Out of the three main paths (Gyms, Titans, and Team Star) interacting with Nemona, Arven, and Casseopia (and Clive lol) was pretty alright. I feel the stories were unpolished? in some places, but never out right bad and they all tied up fine.
I really enjoyed the endings of both games. Tho, I do think scarlet is better than violet ending wise. that guy is prolly gonna end up in some poor unsuspecting persons pool instead of on an adventure, but eh. by then itll probably be a non issue, right? If you already finished violets story, maybe you get me. None of that is spoilers, fyi for those that care about that stuff and havent finished the game. My complaints about the gyms below do contain a few spoilers, but none regarding plots.
I have two main complaints about the game. The first is mainly about graphics quality. SwSh was beautiful comparitively speaking and i feel like even Arceus was better. Graphics are shit. My day night cycle is broken in places, or maybe its only broken sometimes? its hard to tell. Weather is present but I feel like it took a major back seat this game. Its ignorable, not memorable at all, which is a shame because when I stop to actually focus on it it doesnt seem to be that bad. I feel like maybe the poor quality of the surrounding graphics makes the weather shine less. Also, my day night cycle is broken in places? or maybe its only broken sometimes? Or are some places not supposed to have the usual day night cycle. Unclear.
Also the cities are shit. I hate to compair everything to SwSh because it wasnt a perfect game, but the cities of that game had so much personality. They felt LIVED in, you know, because the filler in that game was the pokemon tried and true... npc homes! that you could enter! Paldea is a groups of strip malls centered around vast swaths of NOTHING. For a place thats supposed to be based off Spain, it sure feels a lot more like living in America, honestly. Its all shops! and high rises! and no homes at all! and you cant go into any of them. and the places you can go into are the same 5 chain restaurants, the latest gadget shop, eyeglass world, shoe carnival, Lids, a sock shop, a Ross with upgraded specialty shoes or regular gloves, and Tiffany's up the street selling you gummy bears with gold flakes.
No personality to these cities at all. Is it the end of the world? no. but it ties into my other complaint which is that...
i feel like because the gym tests of SWSH were really polarizing, you either really liked them or really hated them, they were received as some kind of net gain. An any attention is good attention kind of thing. So of course they were going to repeat that.
The problem is the cities are lifeless and the gyms arent at all important to every day modern life Paladea. In SwSh the gym test for the rock and ice type gyms focuses on SAFETY because they live on the a freaking mountain! The water gym test was a puzzle that made you go all over the map, but with purpose. The Paldean gym tests are... like everything that people hated about SHSH tests. What does this have to do with the gym? nothing. You COULD walk this giant balloon ALL OVER this field for no reason for however long that takes you, but there is ZERO incentive unless you just like walking all over large spaces with no real reward.
The gyms didnt feel a part of their communities. The trainers didnt feel like they were really interested in their pokemon, your training journey, or their communities. One lady loses a gym test battle against you and does the 5 year old crying animation? what?
I will say, I feel like there are a couple of acceptions. Brassius at the grass gym clearly fills he community with art, and I know lots of community centers often hold many free or low cost art programs (at least in my area.) I would very much imagine that Brassius uses art and connects with his community. Im not sure about what they were stereotyping with his character. I felt like i missed the joke there, but I liked him over all. Also while sunflora hide and seek itself is a bit tedious, I did get it.
I also felt like Rhym in montenerva was pretty cool. That community is small, the shows being put on are probably a big feature in what goes on there. From what I understand about black culture, music and community are both very important! Again the gym test was about introducing duos which, unlike in swsh, players havent done yet. the fact that youre part of the pre show seemed fun, especially since the actual earning of the gym badge was also part of the show.
And Grusha isnt in a community, he is at the top of a mountain. so theres nothing to complain about there, he can do what he wants. He clearly IS dedicated to that gym, since thats the only shelter up there.
Over all that part was pretty disappointing. The gym leaders themselves seemed nicely designed and varying degrees of interesting. Larry was pretty great. The electric gym was hilarious.
I dont hate the games, I just wish it was filled with more personality. In the mean time tho, I get to run around catching pokemon, and thats fine. Ill probably just go back to Arceus when Ive had my fill of vi and scarlet.

i think the main thing I'd wanna show with belos is that he was unwilling to change- he's a freaking monster running away from guilt via every justification he can make up every bad experience he's had on the BI is proof witches are evil, he cherry picks his experiences and ignores the possibility his brother left him by choice because facing those truths is horrifying. If he acknowledges his brother left him of his own volition that means his brother didn't love him and abandoned him for a girl (at least in his eyes- I imagine after being raised a puritan for such a long time and then escaping that abuse would be an ordeal and you might not be able to save your brother) and that hes been killing innocent people and that everything he knew was wrong- that hes straight up a monster that enjoys others pain- I know people say the point is that belos doesn't have depth that some people are just bad and the whole point is supposed to be his depth means nothing or something but I think the lesson that you can't just point at everyone doing something bad and say 'they're obviously just greedy and can't be emotionally hurt there narcissistic baddies' a lot of the time we dont see our intentions as anything but pure and we even when given evidence to the contrary we stick to our beliefs, we twist evidence to justify our decisions. just because we have good intentions or see ourselves as good people doesn't mean we can't be bad. What makes Luz different from belos should have been that she didn't dehumanize others- she didn't see them as having no lives of their own and saw them as people rather than monsters, that she was willing to immerse herself in this world whereas belos ignored any alternatives as to why he had bad experiences on the BI, he twisted what evidence actually said to fit his perspective that he actively had to ignore good experiences he had or again interpret them in the most insane way possible. The titan in this version didn't hide glyphs from him no, Philip just assumed anytime something bad happened to him it was some weird personal attacks and has a victim complex and when you see yourself as the victim constantly you'll never see if your the villain or the problem. Like I stated above when people who are victims of brainwashing or similar things get sent out into the world it's hard for them, but in a lot of cases being away long enough can start to undo the harm done, Caleb broke away and didn't ignore his positive experiences but belos did. I also wouldn't have them stamp him out as he's already dying- no one mourns him as he did just try to commit genocide and deserves to die but he has to die knowing he's not going to heaven, he's not a good person and most of all he was wrong. There's a lot more id change about the show (the collector and the villains in general need massive revamping even if I do redact some of my opinions). I think the lesson some people are just bad and that bad people just have bad intentions and are only hurt because bad bad is shallow and an important lesson for kids to learn is that while you can unlearn a lot of unhealthy, abusive or racist etc stuff it's hard because people don't like admitting that they're wrong or because even when we face evidence that says everything to the contrary we stick to what's familiar and what feels unshakable etc. it's not just religion that does this, politics, fandoms, to Toxic friendships. Adding to your idea I think after a certain point belos became more obsessed with being 'right' that being the 'hero' became more important than doing what was right. He doesn't seek glory all the validation he needs is his own brain breaking everything to fit his delusion like I stated he ignored everything that didn't fit or twisted it until it did. He could've been frollo or demona or ozai but he's just kind of a boring villain.
The Owl House Critical Post, scroll away now I don't know if I am being too harsh in this post but I wrote it anyway so if you don't wanna read something potentially upsetting this is a warning (to those who decide to read please tell me if I'm being too harsh)
I remember initially hating how the show handled its villains, they all felt like jokes, they never felt like threats or like they provided a meaningful challenges for the main cast, they never had any real depth or complexity. but i bit my tongue, I was told that I was basically a dumbass for complaining that Bump openly breaks a law that's supposed to be punishable by death so that Luz could fulfill her witchy fantasy and that he wasn't arrested. the show could've had him make the multiclass student thing be something underground- boom it lets luz live out her fantasy but doesn't ignore what was established about the setting and creates potential stakes if these underground classes ever got discovered! That already made me angry but the cult thing is what I wanted to complain about- i only had basic ass knowledge about cults and TOH fails at portraying that crap, most people in the EC can just quit and do so in a way that makes it feel like they're just quitting a job, it doesn't feel like they fear losing their friends or sense belonging and community, they don't feel like they're anything but jokes. Leaving a cult is scary, often times cults will send their followers into the real world and set them up to have bad experiences so they'll come running back, they'll hire thugs to scare them into staying or position them in away so that they suffer (sending them out without money or the skills to survive), they humiliate those who begin to ask questions so that they stay in line. guilt tripping, putting members against each other, cutting off contact with the rest of the world! The show only adds the whole 'forced to fight on a mountain' thing for flavor! Everytime it brings up actual stuff cults do it feels like it's more for flavor than actually writing this topic with sensitivity- look at how they treat Lilith! Imo It feels like the show insulting people for ever trusting belos, treating them like they're braindead and could've just realized fairly easily that he was evil. It's the most egregious with hunter who was basically fucking born into the EC. the show is also pretty black and white, which is curious for a show that gets praise for its portrayal of religious trauma. You think the show would be more grey. I did deeper research into cults and just got SO tired of people talking about how good the show was at conveying such a heavy topic. The titan reveal also doesn't help- Luz is told by an all powerful deity that she is the chosen one basically and is told that old man is evil and needs to go down- isn't that the same justification that belos uses for his actions- not saying belos should've gotten redemption or forgiveness but this feels wrong. He deserved to die don't get me wrong but using this justification feels gross. What's even worse is that the titan made Philip's life harder on purpose- ah yeah that brainwashed cult victim would totally change his mind especially if you make his life harder- yeah I would've preferred if belos was depicted in a flashback just having a bad time on the boiling isles and cherry picked those bad experiences to justify his actions. Also I hate that the show just writes belos off as greedy and glory seeking when it could've conveyed a message about how people can get absolutely get warped by religious dogma. I do wonder though if I'm being too harsh because TOH is for kids and I was told it would be hard to portray this stuff in a way kids could understand. I can come up with ways to make the breaking the law openly thing less egregious but I am struggling to think of ways the show could have handled the cult thing, I am aware that maybe I'm accidentally saying stuff that is kind of bad faith but this is my truth. I feel like TOH wasn't good at villains and it sure as hell didn't write cults well

Bruce is way too old. I know that realistically speaking, he should be over 50. But Jorah Mormont just doesn't fit the bill for me.
yah like. i mean , i have a lot of opinions™ abt bruce’s age / longevity what have you , but even all of my personal feelings about it aside ,,, on a timeline where we’ve just now reached jason todd as robin within the narrative year , lmao bruce absolutely shouldn’t be almost 60. also , yeah like iai.n gle.n is just.............he absolutely doesn’t encapsulate anything about bruce wayne for me. at all.

So...these headcanons are more for my enjoyment than anyone else’s. I just LOVE superhero comics so much and wanted to combine my two interests. Also, these headcanons have nothing to do with any movie/show adaptations. Just comic books. Sorry if you don’t recognize some of the characters. Like I said, this list is extremely self-indulgent.
Favorite Superheroes (and a couple villains):
Optimus- He connects with heroes who do right even at great personal cost. Therefore, Spider-Man is his absolute favorite. The line “With great power there must also come great responsibility” resonates deeply with him. Like Peter, he knows he can never turn his back on those that rely on him, even when the weight of his responsibility threatens to crush him. Peter fights to remain compassionate, something Optimus - though he would never admit it - also struggles with. Reading about someone who resists his darker impulses and chooses to do good inspires him to continue to do the same.
Ratchet- Does Alfred Pennyworth count as a superhero? Probably not, but Ratchet doesn’t care. As someone who has to remain at the base, wait to see whether his companions make it home safe, and prepare for if they don’t, Ratchet can deeply sympathize with Alfred. Also, Alfred is an exceptional fighter whose skills - like Ratchet’s - often go unacknowledged, so Ratchet absolutely loves it whenever Alfred cuts loose.
Arcee- She’s an X-Men gal through and through and Storm is her favorite. Storm’s got a lot of pent up rage and Arcee admires how she embraces it instead of pushing it away. The 80s run where Storm changes her look to match how she’s changed inside is by far Arcee’s favorite comic storyline.
Bumblebee- He sees himself in the New Teen Titans hero Jericho. Both of them had their voices violently taken away and both chose to remain kind and compassionate despite this. Jericho reminds Bee to stay true to who he is whenever darker emotions cloud his head. Also, sign language representation always makes him happy (even when it’s not always accurate).
Bulkhead- The Thing - from the Fantastic Four - is his comfort character, for sure. Like Ben, Bulkhead’s not particularly bright and often doesn’t think things through; however, they are both incredibly loyal, and Bulkhead finds reassurance in seeing his own strengths in Ben.
Megatron- Thanos. He can get behind a character who started as a timid intellectual and went on to conquer worlds. Also, Thanos’s obsession with Lady Death and her disfavor of him hits close to home…
Starscream- Classic Loki! Of course he loves a character who schemes and backstabs at every turn. However, he is also fond of the modern Loki who constantly strives to prove himself as good (this version is the result of a reincarnation of the original). He doesn’t like thinking about why the newer Loki resonates with him so much; he just enjoys the comics and leaves it at that.
Knock Out- First off, human Knock Out is literally modern Starfox. I’m putting a picture under the cut so those not in the know can see the glory with their own eyes. Knock Out would definitely admire a hero that’s just like him. Other than Starfox, he enjoys suave, dashing heroes like Iron Man and Nightcrawler (he refuses to acknowledge their flaws).
Breakdown- The Incredible Hulk; he’s the strongest there is, after all, and Breakdown can relate to letting his anger get the better of him.
Soundwave- Like him, Cassandra Cain - or Batgirl - is a silent, mysterious, and imposing figure. They are also both highly capable individuals who tend to operate in the background. Like Cass, Soundwave finds it difficult to express himself. Seeing her triumphs and tribulations offers him a sense of comfort on an unconscious level.
Shockwave- Who else could be his favorite but the intelligent and logical Mr. Fantastic? He appreciates Reed’s tendency to ignore pathetic emotional attachments in favor of scientific breakthrough. Of course, Reed does give in every now and again, though Shockwave concedes few can be as purely logical as himself.
Bonus:
Skyfire- Superman. He appreciates how gentle Superman is despite his immense strength. He wants to be just like him.
Rumble and Frenzy- They like Batman because Batman is cool. He also reminds them of their dad and they like to joke that they’re Soundwave’s Robins.
Wildbreak- As the son of notable Decepticons and nephew of the president (Starscream), Wildbreak feels he has a lot to live up to. As such, Jon Kent - Superman’s son - means a lot to him. Anytime he feels inadequate, he remembers that Jon feels the same. Even though Jon is fictional, he makes Wildbreak feel a little less alone.
Tumblr media
I mean...just LOOK at him! Literally Knock Out!

Hello ✌🏼✨
I was seeing that you write for MTMTE. I have something in mind and would like to request it, if that's okay. A human who helps Rodimus' crew and she was fascinated by Megatron's Holoform when they first met, and one day she discovers that he has been writing very hot poems about her. I'd like to see how far this goes! Megatron's Holoform is so hot!!
Thank you for the request! I hope it's alright that I decided to do head canons of this instead! And i'm going purely off of the images i'm looking at on google right now lol. I haven't gotten that far into the comics yet. I hope you enjoy it lol. I have a migraine right now but also didn't want to ignore this! But I hope you enjoy! And that this is what you meant.
So most likely you're going to be a liaison between the Autobots and the rest of earth.
Mostly just a peacekeeper between the two. To help both the bots and humans understand each other culturally. In the best way that you can do.
When you first go to meet the Captain's of the Lost Light, they, mostly being Ultra Magnus, thought it would be easier on you if they used their holo matter avatars rather than the giant titans they are.
And it was. To a point.
I mean. You've always been into older men.
A couple centuries older than you former warlord was no different.
Right?
The more you interacted with him the more the feelings of attraction grew. More than just. Oh wow he's hot. To. Holy shit do I actually care about him?
At first it was the way he carried himself both in and out of his Holo Matter form.
Straight and tall. Broad shoulders thrown back. Tall and languid. Moving almost like water when he walked.
Those eyes spoke of something ancient and knowing. Filled with some sort of regret.
He looked strong. Capable. So sure of what he was and were he was going.
You and Megatron interacted a lot. More so than yourself and Rodimus who would rather put the work on you and Megatron. It wasn't that he didn't care. But, surprisingly, Rodimus was the first to notice the influence you had on Megatron. And the way you practically looked like you wanted to eat him every time you saw him.
Megatron would grow to care for you as well.
When he first saw you all he could think about was what he had done. To your kind. What if you had been one of the many humans to fall by his hand?
He would have never met you.
Never would have gotten to know of your humility. Your kindness that you give to him time and time again.
He would have never gotten to see you. The most beautiful thing he has ever laid his optics on.
And that scares him.
So. In the spirit of being Megatron. He never told you. Rather used you as the muse in his poetry. The only thing he could turn to without worry.
He just never expected you to find it.
You didn't either. You know of his poetry. He's told you. Just. Not the bits about you. So, when you find it in a stack of data pads given to you.
Well. You're both flustered and honored at the same time. For him to think such things about you.
And when he came running in. Flustered and embarrassed. The sight of you holding the data pad in hand.
He was too big to fit in your room normally. So holo matter it was.
And he spoke to you. Told you of his feelings. No point in hiding them now. Especially since you're literally holding them.
And you tell him of your own feelings. Of the love you hold for them.
"You'll have me. Truthfully? Even after all i've done."
"I know what you have done. But I also know what you are doing now. I won't forget the past. But it doesn't mean i'll disregard the present. Not if it's you."

hi!!!! OP here. I think you did miss my point a little bit, but thats at least partially on me. I wasn't really expecting this post to get any traction (didn't realize I still had any ttrpg followers... lol) so it was just kind of a mess of my thoughts about the whole situation. It's not as clear as it could have been.
The point I wanted to make was threefold:
People who play D&D are getting something out of that experience. Most of them aren't playing D&D because they just don't know any better, they're doing it because that's the experience they want to have. To act like they're doing it because they aren't as smart as you are is frustrating, arrogant, and off-putting, and it CERTAINLY won't get anyone to play a different game. Like I said in my post, I see so many people act like D&D fans are popular jocks to the indie fans bullied nerds, when like... we're all in drama club. None of us are cool here. Why invent a hierarchy when there was none?
Every indie game is not good for every desired game experience. Indie games are great because they can give you a specific experience. If you want to play Teen Titans or Young Justice, you would play Masks. That's all Masks is set up to do! But it's not really a good system if you want to play like... a team of adult supervillains. (I believe this is what the podcast Stop, Hack and Roll called "genre bake-in". The mechanics are inextricable from the story they were intended to tell)
If you want to suggest a game for people to play instead of D&D, you should try to figure out what they're getting from D&D. People's games can vary wildly, and they can like different things about it!!! If I play D&D because I like to tell stories with my friends, and we mostly ignore a lot of the mechanics in service of our storytelling, then sure, Thirsty Sword Lesbians is a good suggestion. Follow (one of my personal faves) would be a good one, too, which is incredibly flexible for telling all kinds of 3-act stories, especially if I'm looking to play a one-shot. But if I like the crunchier rules of D&D, if I think they're important to crafting a good experience and having emergent storytelling, then a PBTA game is probably a bad pick for me, and Pathfinder might be better.
The behavior I was specifically complaining about, though, is one I saw all the time for years on twitter (and still see), of people being like "Don't play D&D, D&D sucks, INSTEAD of that game you should play MY game, which is good instead" but then the game they're suggesting has nothing at all in common with D&D. My favorite ttrpg is Good Society, but I wouldn't suggest that as a replacement for D&D. They're not even similar experiences, and to suggest that they are interchangeable really flattens ttrpgs as a medium.
I'm not saying that there's no point to suggesting games because nothing is going to be 100% the same as D&D. I'm just saying that the experience people are having with D&D might not be what you assume it is, and you should be thoughtful about your suggestions, and you shouldn't act like people were foolish for having ever enjoyed D&D and that it's an obviously inferior product to (thing you like more). There are things that people genuinely enjoy about using that system in specific, and to pretend like that couldn't possibly be so is not going to get you the results you want.
Full disclosure: I have played D&D maybe like... twice, I've played lots of PBTA games, the game I was subtweeting when I referred to a game "where youre a couple thats getting married in 2 months and you're still planning your wedding" is a game I wrote. I like indie games!! I think they're good, and people should play them! They can be deeply enriching experiences! But as a person who was not only an enthusiast for indie ttrpgs, but a content creator in the community, I have found this sort of "play another game you idiots 🙄 D&D isnt even GOOD" attitude to be really unpleasant and needlessly hostile. I don't see anything gained from it, but I have seen it push a lot of people away from investigating games they might otherwise enjoy.
TL;DR: WotC sucks as a company, and its fine and good to suggest alternatives to their products, but maybe put some thought into it and don't be an asshole
Hope this clarifies some things!!!
ive been a halfhearted dnd defender for a minute, bc i was really involved in indie ttrpg twitter for a while and I Am Not Anymore because frankly. it just got too hostile and crab bucket-y. a lot of people acting like critical role or dimension 20 were opposing them by playing a game that had widespread brand recognition (and also getting mad whenever critrole played something OTHER than dnd. i haven't forgotten how hostile everyone i knew in that scene was when critrole played monster hearts. like what do you want??) or like people who play dnd are popular jocks and people who play indie games are bullied nerds. when actually we're all nerds. nobody is cool here.
and i would especially get frustrated when people would recommend games to play instead of dnd that are not at all a comparable experience, or didnt have the same things people liked in dnd. sure, you could play Masks if you want to play a superhero game instead of just reskinning DnD, but Masks is about teens, and the fact that you're playing as teens is core to the mechanics, so it's not a good suggestion for someone who wants to play as adult superheroes. sure you can suggest someone play Blades in the Dark if they want to play a heist team, but BitD is incredibly punishing! every time ive played it, it felt almost impossible to get a full success at anything. that can be fun, if that's the kind of game you want, but if i want to play a game where i feel cool and like im good at things, then BitD is not a good replacement! I cant tell you how many times I've seen people say that you don't need to just reskin dnd when there are games that are more specifically tailored to the experience you want, and then in the same breath act like the games they're suggesting ARENT specific actually and can be used to craft any kind of experience you want. Is the genre baked into the mechanics, or isnt it? because it cant be both!
and thats not even getting into when people would suggest replacements that aren't even close. a lot of "dnd sucks nobody should ever play dnd. instead of dnd, why don't you play MY game, where youre a couple thats getting married in 2 months and you're still planning your wedding?" like... why would i play that instead of dnd, if i want to play dnd? those have nothing in common, beyond the fact that theyre both tabletop games. it's like saying "Instead of watching Star Wars, you should watch Get Out!" sure, they're both MOVIES, and Get Out is GOOD, but i think to suggest that someone who wants to watch Star Wars would have an equal if not better experience watching Get Out instead devalues both. They're not interchangeable because they're trying to do entirely different things
So I would get incredibly frustrated when people acted like people who were choosing to play DnD were just making a mistake, and that they couldn't possibly be getting anything out of playing that game specifically
ALL THAT BEING SAID wizards of the coast sucks ass and they can clean my balls. they should get put in the stocks and i should get to pelt them with tomatoes. i like playing in the sword and sorcery fantasy setting, and dnd was always my go-to game for that because Dungeon World is the worst game I've ever played (i can think of one or two other games in the same sort of setting, but i haven't tried them or met anyone willing to run them) but ah well. WotC can eat shit for this copyright bullshit
