#art #twisted wonderland #twst 5th anniversary #i'll stop for a while now i promise i just wanted to get this out #genuinely feels a bit weird to be 5 years in already huh!#that combined with having finally finished up episode 7...#oh no all the milestones hit at once help #hold on while i reminisce for a moment #because MAN i did not expect the anime disney boy game to become so special to me #(especially my little wet rat dragon and his family)#to be fair 2020 onward was uhhh let's say prime timing for a piece of silly and unapologetically indulgent media #(not to get too real here or anything but let's just say that. some of the stuff in 7 specifically did hit a bit harder than it should've.)#but also just. you know how it goes.#sometimes a thing doesn't so much speak to you as it reaches out and grabs you by the throat #with an intensity that shocks and bewilders no one more than you #and sure you can ignore it because having any emotions about media beyond faint scorn is of course the epitome of ~cringe~#but you could also just throw yourself wholeheartedly into it #and lemme tell you one of those options is a hell of a lot more fun #idk i'm just kinda rambling here #it's been a weird five years but i'm glad to have had these guys for it #and hey if nothing else it gave us meleanor #the inside of my brain at any given point is just the 'do it for her' meme covered in pictures of our late great dragon princess #i would not have it any other way

there are some rsc productions i've watched that i had mixed feelings about but others that hit them right out of the park and i've noticed it has little to do with how much i like the play itself (in the tempest 2017 dir. gregory doran i found that to be a hindrance to my enjoyment, liking the version in my head when i read it much more) (whereas with antony and cleopatra 2017 dir. iqbal khan i think it's just about a perfect realization about what i enjoy the play in so much and josette simon's performance is one of my favorite things i've ever seen on stage). but i've been watching two gentleman of verona 2014 dir. simon godwin/robin lough and it's just so fucking funny. the play itself is, well no one argues it's shakespeare's strongest and it has some obvious flaws in the ending (if you've read it you know what i mean by that) but i do think its premise is still wildly entertaining and interesting, there's some good jokes and beautiful poetry, it's just overall not the strongest character-driven comedy. this production though might just be the best possible version of the play. the song they give turio to sing to silvia is so good and then the performance is so hammy and camp in a way i didn't expect it to be. the original music is amazing and i think the modernized clothing and set pieces are really well done. like bravo

#tales from diana #text post #when i don't like something about an rsc production it tends to get in the way of my enjoyment a LOT #and the hardest thing about any shakespeare play is sitting through the beginning and analyzing whether i like what i think they're doing #like i'm always very critical of opening scenes cuz i'm afraid the acting won't please me #i thought from the early line delivery that i wasn't liking valentine and proteus' actors but that's actually not the case #i just had to get used to it #shakespearean dialogue is very unnatural and forced by necessity (bc that's not at all how we speak in real life)#there's always some buffering time to get in the flow of it #the two gentlemen of verona #shakespeare #royal shakespeare company #also i'm watching it on marquee tv (a streaming service i just found out about that hosts performing arts content #like plays and opera and ballet and the like. im really excited)#i got to join with the first threemonths for 99 cents each. like that's awesome #i'm not sure i'll keep it forever but 3 bucks for three months is worth keeping in that time #but it's only 10 bucks per month afterward which i'm also not too mad about if i do keep it...#bc i like the content that's on there and i'm happy to support the kind of platform it seems to promote #if u're interested in the platform u can view the catalogue online wo an account and claim the same autumn discount that i did #not sponsored. obviously #just sharing that info bc it's a good deal #it's available in the us and uk idk about other countries

#stobotnik #doctor ivo robotnik #agent stone #sonic movie universe #i hope you all are noticing what i'm doing with stone's clothes specifically #white shirt pre robotnik black to fit his goth boss then colors when ivo starts wearing red #also i know we all like to think robotnik hated being assigned an agent but i present to you:#he sees it as a symbol of status kinda. stone hates being here #it just feels right to me. it's not that robotnik thinks the agent will be useful at all #he's just pleased that he got one #everyone else has an assistant why shouldn't he?#this ties to a very very stupid headcanon i have #and it's that robotnik's blood type is O negative #HEAR ME OUT he would hate that. he would hate being an universal donnor because he doesn't care about saving lives of humans ew #but then stone is also O negative so that means robotnik can receive blood from him if necessary #and that's mostly the reason why he was chosen to be his assistant #ivo is too important to die! and O negative blood isn't that common #Stone knows but probably no one told robotnik #then of course imagine stone getting injured and needing blood and ivo is like wait i can do that it doesn't matter what his blood type is #you get the point #i think. i'm pretty sure there was a point #oh well #oh the no hr joke. they're a shady goverment organization i don't think they treat their people that well #that being said maybe robotnik's treatment of stone was the reason they had to get an hr department who knows

I like to think that Vulcans who come to understand that Humans just can’t try to process emotions the same way as them, it’s just healthiest to let it out in harmless ways, decide that venting and stuff should be taken just as seriously as Vulcan’s meditation time, and will encourage the Humans around them to complain about what’s upsetting them

People who are used to aloof Vulcans who avoid Humans at all cost running into one comforting a Human

#star trek #Vulcans #Humans #not based on a specific thing #but I used to know this annoying couple that were ‘family friends’#who would show up to potluck dinners and the like and would either bring nothing or bring something really just. out of left field?#like a bag of frozen chicken to a bbq #and then proceed to make sure they are first even if it was stated to let kids go first #would take HUGE amounts before anyone else got a chance to get a plate #and then make off with the leftovers again even if they were already claimed for #and it wasn’t a food insecurity thing trust me I would never speak bad about a person getting food if that was even a remote chance #the adults who raised us knew them really well and we’d been to their house a ton of times #they were just dicks #and yeah. they’d occasionally insult the food. while eating the MAJORITY of it.#it was so weird at their home they would go out of their way to get the healthiest options possible #you know the really bland tasteless expensive stuff that apparently was healthier #but then if they were visiting our house they would. eat all our unhealthy snacks.#that always pissed me off so much as a kid because we actually had a food insecurity thing going on #and also a variety of other reasons that are a bit too depressing to bring up on this post #but anyways we’d hardly ever get to have nice snacks #and this couple would just take them all??? even after we’d tell them repeatedly that it was ours and those snacks weren’t gonna be #replaced #hated that couple #if you’re wondering why they were ‘family friends’ it’s because the couple who raised us #(it feels weird to type it out like that but apparently legal guardians doesn’t fit since they never finished petitioning 💀)#liked having them around because it made them look like ‘such great Christian’s’ being nice to the people #that no one else wanted to be friends with #I always thought that was a really weird and fucked up reason to be friends with someone #this got long sorry 😭

You don't wish your disability was worse or more visible, you wish your disability was taken seriously. Please stop confusing the two, I guarantee you would not get the support you need JUST by being more severe or more visible. Please listen to visibly disabled people when we tell you it isn't better on our side

#m/cc #mine #I tried extremely hard to word this nicely because I KNOW people don't mean bad and often even know there are unique challenges #and believe me I know the challenges of invisible disability too!!#I have invisible disabilities!#but as someone who has also been at least visibly 'off' since they were 10 I am SO SICK of invisible disabilities being hailed as like #a unique extra oppression that us lucky visibly disabled people don't have to deal with #there are challenges to invisible disabilities that visibly disabled people DON'T have to deal with!#but you need to understand that *the reverse is also true*#there are MASSIVE benefits to being able to lie about your disability for example #or not dealing with the overt ableism that comes with your disability being obvious to everyone #*I do not have the option to pretend I'm not disabled.* that is never an option I have #I walk weirdly. I use a mobility aid now. my speech and face are 'off.' I lean to one side #for a long time I wore sunglasses 24/7 and often didn't make sense. I sometimes can't speak or won't react to others #for the most part people will always know that at the very least something is wrong with me #and more obviously I have people telling me they'll pray for me; telling me I can't do things I'm already in the process of doing;#wanting to shake my hand to tell me I'm an inspiration for not killing myself; giving me dirty looks for existing in public #and yes. I'm aware that this is very much an in-community issue. I know the average abled person doesn't know invisible disabilities exist #that's why there's so much awareness happening for it #but as a visibly disabled person I get SO TIRED of constantly hearing 'I wish my disability was visible :'('#it's just 'I wish I had your disability!' but from other disabled people

Any tips for being a suicidal 15 year old?

When I was a suicidal 15 year old everyone told me “it gets better”, and it sounded like bullshit. And frankly, it still sounds like bullshit. Like oh, what, I’m living in hell and you’re not gonna help me or *do* anything or give me any useful advice and I’m supposed to just hang in there on the nebulous, pithy promise that things are just gonna work out on their own? And you can’t tell me how or why, I’m just supposed to take it on the faith that I don’t have that something might change in ways I haven’t considered?

But yeah. It does. And it’s frustrating as hell.

Yes, things are gonna get better, and they’re gonna get better in ways I can’t describe even after experiencing it myself. Things you don’t even know CAN be different WILL be different. One day you’re just going to step outside and realize things got better somewhere and you didn’t even notice it happening.

And there’s really nothing I can say that makes that sound even a little bit believable.

I guess all I can tell you is that you have to want to believe it.
