Because they’re weird about each other. Like, they’re actually just obsessed with each other every time they’re given a moment to breathe outside of their incredibly traumatic lives. Buck’s not going to know what to do with somebody who loves as wholly as Eddie does, who sees all of him and loves him anyway. Eddie’s not gonna know how to be in a relationship with someone he wants constantly, and who sees through all of his fronts. They’re going to be painfully awkward and maybe even pining while actually dating.

They’re best friends, which might typically mean a smooth and gradual transition of being together, but neither of them do anything by halves. Somebody is going to confess to the other before they’ve fully processed how in love they are or something, and then we’re going to be in trouble. Because they’re weird about each other, they’re impulsive, they’re dorky and Eddie’s only recently begun to accept that he can be that way, and they’re so deeply awkward when people actually love and see them. The start of their relationship is going to be such an embarrassing mess, I truly believe this. But it’s all going to be worth it because it’s embarrassing because they won’t know what to do with all of the love they’re getting from the other, but they’ll figure it out. Together.
