He'll gently massage all the aches and knots out of your muscles before pulling you against him, his chin resting on top of your head as he relaxes with you after a long day (just don't be surprised if he falls asleep).

Azul Ashengrotto, who grows worried when he finds you curled up on his couch in his private office at the Monstro Lounge. He frowned when you sniffed and told him you felt "fat", a sentiment he relates to a little too well (for different reasons, of course). He'll gently sit beside you, his voice calm and soothing as he gently reassures you that, no matter your size, you're absolutely gorgeous. Azul will remind you as many times as you need, whether it's ten or a thousand times.

Despite his divided attention between the lounge and his role at NRC, he's more than willing to set time aside to spend it with you. Whether you want to watch a movie, go to your favorite restaurant, or just rest in bed, he swears to be there for you as much as he can.

His favorite thing to do is surprise you by cleaning up for you (with a little help from two eel brothers, *cough* *cough*). Need your dishes done? They're washed, dried and put away. Laundry still in the hamper? It's already finished and hung up in your closet. Every surface of your living space is immaculate by the time he's done, and the look of relief on your face always giving him a soft, warm smile.

Idia Shroud, who nearly passes out when you message him that you're experiencing the most brutal cramps of your life and you ran out of pads and pain medicine at the worst possible time. Being the amazing boyfriend that he is, he opted to disguise himself to go in public and buy you some (sunglasses and all).

Despite not telling you, he went ahead and created an app that keeps track of your ovulation cycle. Not to be weird...but to make sure he's kept up-to-date on what to expect and when he's going to preorder your favorite snacks, pads/tampons/cups, and other essentials (Side Note: I stand by the headcanon that he gets his S/O plushies to cheer them up).

If you're into anime like him, he'll make sure you're nice and comfy on his bed with a heating pad before putting on your favorite show. Of course, he loves to snuggle with you beneath his blankets during this (he'll be a blushing mess all over again if you chose to give him forehead/temple kisses during your watch party, but he'll always return those kisses in kind).

Malleus Draconia...who has no idea what to do. Lilia never quite got around to explaining it to him other than "the basics", so he's left completely in the dark until you came along. His face grows even more pale as you explain how painful your period is with cramps, bloating, and other uncomfortable symptoms you struggled with. His heart aching for his beloved enduring such a thing.

He seemed a bit taken aback when Lilia looked a little uncomfortable when he nagged him for every detail about a woman's menstrual cycle, to which the Fae replied with "every woman is different" and elaborated a bit on some pointers.

The next day, Malleus appeared on your doorstep with a few grocery bags and an averted gaze. Your smile made his reluctance dissipate as you pulled out all sorts of goodies: candy, a homemade heating pad, and even a small dragon plushie! His expression is much more confident when you thank him for the gifts. Now whenever it's your time of the month, Malleus has a stock pile of blankets, heating pads, and other essentials ready to make a warm nest of comfort for you.

Vil Schoenheit, who (at first) judges you for letting your skincare routine lapse...only to quickly backtrack when you start sobbing and tell him you're on your period. He quickly makes up for it by buying you several decadent flower bouquets and chocolate covered strawberries the very next day, a sweet apology card also included in the bounty of goodies.

Since Vil is more focused on wellbeing, he won't always buy you sweet or salty food you may crave during your period. He'll get you plenty of water and fruit, though, and make sure to keep you motivated with compliments and praise if you're experiencing negative moods (he may go overboard from time to time, though you don't mind).

One day, while he was away filming a new TV show, you found a intricately decorated care package on your doorstep filled with everything you'll need. It became a tradition from then on (whether he was out filming or not) to send these personal packages, each including a heartfelt, hand-written note that remind you just how beautiful and amazing you are.

Kalim Al-Asim, who pampers you endlessly. He has over thirty siblings, many of which (I assume) are girls, so he'd have a good understanding of periods. So when he finds you hiding beneath your covers with a heating pad draped over your stomach, he knows it's time to spoil you.

Do you want/need a massage? Hon, he's already got the lavender oil on hand. Mani-pedi? If he won't do it for you, he'll do it with you at the spa! And while he grew up wealthy, he's not afraid to hand-feed you your favorite food (especially since he gets to see your sweet smile).

Kalim is also mentally and emotionally ready to help you process your shifting moods during your time of the month. Even if you snap at him, he's always quick to forgive you. He has a box of tissues in his room ready to go as he gently rubs your back as you sob, reassuring you that you're not alone and he loves you so, so much. And he always will.

The whole Once-ler family is working full tilt!

Here's my full piece for the VK Onceler Zine! I was very lucky to get to be a part of it...🥹 I used concept art as my inspiration this time: [link] Keep reading below for my process vid and all my director's commentary!

Thank you for being curious! Here's a video of my WIPs:

Deadlines were TIGHT for this zine! We were given only 2 months (compared to the 6 months I had on the previous onceler zine), so to make sure I could finish on time, I decided to do only base colours and lighting, with almost no shading anywhere. Still, trying to balance all the colours took the longest for me, as you can see in the vid. xP

Also idk if anyone noticed, but for the face I chose to use an already existing onceler doodle: [link] Why? Well, why not! I really liked that doodle and I didn't want it to go to waste. 😆

Things that I enjoyed sneaking in:

-the golden spiral! Vaguely, at least! At the very least I hope your eyes can follow the order of thneed production, from the fallen tree at the window to the tuft harvesting to the thread spinning, to knitting the thneed and then drawing up plans for bigger and better things, and then ending with him pulling on his iconic glove to show he's going to take control now

-15 cents, a nail, and a great great great grandfather snail, as well as a tin pail since that's where you're supposed to deposit your payment

-combining things from the 2012 movie and concept art, the 1972 movie, and the 1971 book (e.g. that funny wrench he uses to fix pipes)

-Miss O'Schmunce-ler! You can see from the vid that I added the bracelet pretty late, because it was a late decision to have a Miss O'Schumunce-ler somewhere. I chose her to be the one picking up the pencil in the end, since she's pretty good with a pencil in the movie hehe. You guys can pretend the arms holding the phone is Miss Funce-ler.

-a thneed, a seed, and a (grickle grass) weed on the floor. The thneed is just the first of many that will soon create a giant pile. The seed lies forgotten in the corner. The weed is foreshadowing the future.

-hinting that Lorax and Once-ler were actually good friends, like they were in the Lorax musical stageplay. 🥺 I kept this part of the script in my mind for this piece:

This was aftermath Once-ler talking to the Lorax, reminiscing on their good times...and also being stupid and inconsiderate because the Lorax was in fact there all along as his friend, trying to warn him of what was going to happen. 😔

So in my zine piece we're witnessing a peaceful time before all the real biggering really starts. I like to think that in this scene, the Lorax had been sitting on the Once-ler's lap, holding his gloves for him and having a nice chat together with maybe some harmless bickering, but then the Once-ler gets a phone call so he cuts their convo short and rolls his chair over to the window to answer it. What else...the parts that I'm proud of the most are the stool (I spent 2 days just drawing this stool), the curtains, the fact that I was able to include every truffula colour, and the Once-ler's pose. I was close to giving up on that pose because I had no idea how to draw it but I'm glad that I tried again. I wanted to show him at ease during a stage in his life that we never got to see much: the happier and more innocent days of his biggering when he only had a small shop. 😊

James has seen many beautiful things over the last eighteen years, but nothing compares to when he saw you in your dress.

He'd always joked with his friends that these debutants balls were useless and slightly elitist—and you had nodded along until one evening when you gathered up the courage to ask him to be your escort because you did want to go.

"Me?" James's voice was high and nervous as he lifted his head from your lap and the movie continued to play in the background.

"Y-yeah, you. You're my best friend," you said, looking at him hopefully. "I don't wanna take some random guy I don't know." Your nose had scrunched up in disgust and James laughed, his chest feeling warm that you invited him and not Sirius, or Remus, or even Peter.

Him.

"You know I don't like those kind of things," James teased as he sat up and dug his feet into your thighs, distance barely existent between you both.

"Please," you whispered, your eyes pleading and he hadn't been able to continue the ruse, giving in to you immediately.

And seeing you now, in your white cream-colored dress, he doesn't regret that decision at all.

You look more than beautiful. He holds out his arm, feeling how soft your hand is when you take his arm and his grin widens. He feels like the luckiest boy here to have you on his arm.

James tries his best to remember the dance but he's so distracted by your smile as he stumbles on his feet as you waltz.

"Jamie," you whisper, hiding a giggle as his grip tightens on your waist so he doesn't completely lose balance.

"It's your fault, Y/n/n," he whispers back, his mouth pressed to your hair as you continue to the dance, his voice shaky. "Distracting me with your beauty. It's unfair, really."

Your smile widen. "Is it now?"

James hums, twirling you around. "Very much."

"You're impossible," you laugh as he pulls you closer to him, his eyes locked onto yours. He lifts his hand, breaking the dance by pushing some hair behind your ear and sends you a lopsided grin.

"You love me," he teases, his voice soft.

You look at him, your pupils wide as the other dances and important people in the room fade into nothing until it's just him. You think those words mean much more to you than him but you say them anyway.

"I do. I love you."

James shivers and his eyes sparkle. Everyone else in the room is also forgotten to him because all he cares about is you. His gaze flickers to your lips, thinking you don't notice but secretly hoping you do.

He wants to kiss you more than anything.

So, when he finally has you pressed gently against the wall of the hallway after the dance, away from everyonem, all he can think of is your lips.

James leans in close and whispers. "Can I?"

Your heart skips and you look at him, eyes wide as you feel his hand slip to your thigh, bunching up your dress as he guides your leg around him. He's patient and slow and so gentle.

You let a moan slip from your mouth but he captures it as he kisses you. You kiss him back instantly, your arms wrapping around his neck as you pull him closer.

Kissing your best friend shouldn't feel this good.

James pushes himself closer to you, his hips against yours as he deepens the kiss and then trails his lips down your neck to your collarbone. "I love you too, you know that right?" he says, sounding breathless. "Much more than I should. God, you drive me insane."

"James." His name slips from your lips, needing him so badly.

"Shh, dovey, we have all the time in the world. I want to take my time with you," he says and drops your leg, kissing your forehead. "I don't want to rush us."

You nod, understanding where he's coming from. You smile at him, catching your breath. As you look at him in his pretty suit and red lip-stick stained lips, this feels surreal.

"Is this real?" you whisper shyly.

James chuckles and winks, kissing your cheek. "Very real. Now c'mon, our parents and friends are gonna wonder where we are," he finishes and takes your hand, squeezing it as he guides you back into the main ballroom.

Your cheeks feel perpetually warmer and you're afraid they'll never cool down as long as James is near you—not that you're complaining at all.
