it’s cold outside, so an indoor picnic it is. candles around the room that he considered a fire hazard but that warmed the room with a soft cinnamon scent. low music from his stereo, the gray sweater you liked and a few sprites of cologne are added just in time before you crossed the door.

“hey-” he’s slightly out of breath, covering what view he can from the narrow hallway to the living room setup. “how was work?”

he moved by your side, taking you by the shoulders and pressing a kiss over your hair, then helped you out of your coat as you rambled on. 

“i swear one of these days i’m just gonna qui-” you stopped abruptly at the door to the living room, caught off guard by the multiple flickering lights. “...oh carmy.”

your face was unreadable from his position behind you and it could have been the lack of any movement from your part that made his hands grow clammy instantly and think that it might have been a stupid idea. 

“you hate it.” 

“what? no- no i’m-” it was only until you half turned towards him that he spotted the excited expression over your face, eyes slightly more dewy than normal. “carm, this is beautiful.”

carmy exhaled the deep breath caught in his chest, almost deflating, and finally closed the space between you. he circled his arms around you as your eyes danced around the little flickering lights. 

“are we celebrating something that i forgot?” you asked, for a second slightly worried until you felt his cheek rub beside yours with a shake. 

the music traveled in the air along with the sweet scent and he couldn’t help but sway from one side to the other in an effortless rhythm, taking you with him. “jus’ wanted to do somethin’ different.” is all he said

you turned  in his arms and placed a tender kiss over his cheek, taking a whiff of his intoxicating scent. your smile grew deeper into your face as you dug your nose into his neck and took a stronger inhale. 

you groaned and began placing sweet kisses over the exposed skin above his sweater. “god, i love how you smell.” 

carmy laughed into your hair, arms still tight around you while you continued to kiss him and he took step after step forward to guide you into the room. “c’mon, food’s gonna get cold.”

“it can wait.” you mumble, too entranced by the intoxicating smell.

he hissed slightly when the cold skin of your fingertips came in contact with the warmth under his shirt, but he didn’t complain, and he didn’t mind it either when your lips drew a sultry line up to his own.

Nearing the end of Mettamay! Recap and thoughts :D (This is just for fun lol)

I think this is the part where I drop off of drawing for Mettamay AAAA But hey, I did really good though! (imo ofc!) The number of days I did and how much I drew MTT himself was insane 👀👀👀

In total I accomplished days: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27! So in total, 21 days! Holy shit LMFAO VERY proud at my commitment yo, I kinda wanna do this again next year if it's on! >:D (just remind me bc I WILL forget probably)

I've mostly dropped off by now, just bc I can't think of what to draw, and my motivation has moved to updating oc's for Art Fight BAHA But the fact I made it so far--- bonkers, bro, absolutely bonkers. This was INCREDIBLY fun and got me through pretty bad burnout, so yah! It was honestly very relaxing to just draw Mettaton for 21 days JHSDGHSD

Also, shout out to Mettamay for getting me to experiment with art aswell! Notably, I've become more comfortable not fully rendering with a painterly style, rather, just using a single pen brush in my software and doing pretty decent cell shading(?), which is epic as bc painting takes... APRIL fancy calico i honestly dont know whats up with the clothes, i just kinda drew whatever tbh

MAY yippie!! toontown oc! was playing ttcc w/shard and co, this is the character i ended up making i also got covid around april-march iirc so i was feeling horrid for a while (and the remaining symptoms didnt clear up till like june)

JUNE an oc i got years ago but didnt have the confidence to draw for a while lmao anyways i like her colors and shape, she's fun

JULY mandatory artfight posting this was one of the last ones i did! ocs belong to pookapooka and they were so fun to paint

AUGUST ring but hes going to jail (again but for real this time) the staxie monthly prompt was barbie mugshots but i . . . i did this with ring and lumos and promptly forgor to do this with cakes and ale like i was planning to lmfao im actually gonna watch the barbie movie tonight, renting it so i can watch it on the big tv (didnt watch in theaters bc expensive (movie tickets are generally 15-25 bucks in my area (compared to the 5-10 in my aunt's area (renting is cheaper per person)), and they changed the chairs to these weird uncomfy pleather recliners that make my skin crawl to "justify the price raise" + i hate sitting for more than an hour i need water, bathroom, stretch, and snack breaks))

SEPTEMBER ganache went over the hedge was very busy w/projects so i did little casual art this was inspired by me comparing the over the hedge version of supermarket by ben folds (upbeat & high energy) vs the one by the clash (melancholy + commercial-induced agony) ever since then i cant stop thinking abt how much the lemon demon guy's voice sounds like the fucking clash guy sdjkhfkjsd also over the hedge was one of my favorite movies as a kid and i watched it at least 10 times before we had to return the dvd to netflix. i also regularly played the flash games on the site until i forgot about it after finding out about miniclip + notdoppler from other kids and decided to use those for flash games instead bc more options lol

ANYWAYS. felt like doin a post talking abt how i draw the grumpuses or whatever for funsies bc im bored + since i did the design meme. lets go

in General : i draw them like furries, vaguely. which is fun because im not much of a furry artist so i have no idea what im doing and it shows. in general i give them sorta snouts in varying... snoutyness depending on their over/underbite. eg floofty, snorpy gramble and shelda have flatter faces while liz, lillow and wambus look like weird dogs, i guess. i draw them with human-shaped hands but put pawpads on them. sometimes. you could say i give them ears but to be honest they dont look functioning i just slap some squiggles on their heads and move on. i also give some of them tails. because i walk around irl like why dont i have a tail and well its their problem now.

I also give them more/detailed-er hair and clothes. character specific stuff below

Filbo is still just a guy. I mostly just slapped some freckles on him because I thought theyd be cute. in a spongebob kinda way. i put a hawaiian shirt on him. not pictured, i think he would have a little tuft of a tail. average goober

I draw Beffica with more... idk if id say realistic hair, but it’s less of a hat. as far as I can tell, her in-game model has orangeish-red eyes (color makes me think of ketchup), but I made them browner. not a lot of brown eyed characters in media but this is partially habit on my part coming from drawing genshin fanart (nobody has brown eyes). i made her nose heart shaped and put her in a off the shoulder shirt. she has a sort of... cheetah? pattern bc i think its cute.

Eggabell is round soft and pink. not as egg shaped in my style i suppose, but she prob looks more egg fullbody than just her bust lol. i like the ........ floofy thing ive seen ppl put on her so theres that, i also think she’d look cute w/ short hair. changed her med belt into a sort of... satchel lookin thing?

Liz. in the meme I forgot about her hat, LOL. I give her a ponytail haircut - she kinda looks like a wolf and less like a walrus I suppose... she’s muscular and scared from The Adventuring, and I put a vest thing on her. she still has the belt.

Wambus I made look a bit dilfy... kind of wolf shaped in my brain. him and Triffany feel like the types to be that thick beefy kind of muscled. gave him bushy eyebrows and sort of hair, w some grey hairs. he and Triffany are around 40-50s to me, they both have some wrinkles, but im. bad at drawing older ppl

Triffany..... her hat was a menace to draw. she’s just as beefed up as Wambus, but she’s very fluffy and soft looking. her vest is more Open in canon but I didn’t wanna redraw it but im sure she has amazing chest fur. she has curly-ish hair in a ponytail.

for Cromdo I tried to make him like.. idk... uncleish. danny devitocore. I’m not used to drawing characters like him so ??? its a little funny looking but I tried to make him look like he had body hair as if he wasnt covered in fur lmfao. gave him some wrinkles, he’s probably in his 40s. put a shirt on that freak. also, had trouble w his nose.

I’ve had trouble drawing shorter characters in relation to taller ones (chandlo) but I liked how I drew Gramble. I put freckles on him (cute factor), turned his vest into a full sweater (w shirt collar), gave him some curly strawberry red hair under the hat. he’s cute. I know he weighs like 3 apples

WIGGLE my beloved! I felt I made her a bit Much but honestly? fits her. I gave her short curly hair - I do like how other designs give her the spiky mohawk look from the cheepoof tho! in her model her eyes are blue, but I darkened them similarly to how I changed Beffica’s eyes, but its less noticeable with the glasses. I gave her a sorta... half tube top w a see thru part (forgot the word.) probably wears beach party clothes

Oddly, I have trouble with Chandlo. He’s kind of dog-ish like Liz an Lillow, also made his nose heart shaped cuz its cute. gave him hair under the hat but idk how I feel on it. he’s beefy obviously, but I think he’s a bit more defined than Wambus. I couldn’t quite show it but I imagine he has rather calloused paws, but is otherwise careful when carpenter-ing and such (unlike Snorpy and Floofty, OSHA enemies.)

SNORBYYYYY I love this little yellow thing. I draw him (and his sibling) with casual glasses usually, because I imagine the magnifying glass isnt Always necessary. I also put him in a sweater. I gave him some freckles and changed the direction of his hair + the style to be in a ponytail idk. his arms and hands are particularly scarred, from equipment and engineering accidents and such, probably has some burns too.

Floofty my beloved rude asshole. I have a little trouble w their hair on the left side of their head 😭 I also give them simpler glasses to wear when they don’t need the goggles because wearing that shit all day hurts. I put them in a hoodie/jacket + lab coat combo. I imagine the lab coat is blood stained. stuff’s hard to clean. They’re equally if not more scarred than their brother, and have a particularly bad burn/scar double whammy on their right hand which I hc they get after getting fired when having a meltdown. ANYWAYS

Shelda my gramma. I love her but MY GOD coloring the flowers was hard lol. I imagine her fur is on the shorter side. I don’t have too much to say I guess? I want to give her a hug.

Clumby I just drew a kind of Aunt-y ish garfield. the glasses and hat were hard. definitely the type of woman I saw in the middle school’s reception office.

In 2019 I simply wanted to do a redraw only to realize it had become a 5 year tradition, so of course I had to get this in before the end of the year. The funny thing is, I apparently started this year’s redraw in April and just completely forgot about it. 😂😅 April saw the lineart done, December was everything else, and also I redid like the waist up. Thank you April!me for doing the shoes ahead of time. 🫡😂

Also this year marks Lawrence’s official change from The Moth to The Beetle, swapping titles with his seldom seen mom because it just honestly makes more sense this way lmfao. And since at some point in the last 5 years his parents got a makeover from “generic white people I drew in high school,” he now gets brown eyes and darker skin.

ok so i was going through my tags and through old posts but i genuinely think of this post so much.

its just, this style, this "rebelliousness", was always there, like i said.

bc i realized i was bi in the beginning of seventh grade, and it was quite easy for me to come to terms with that bc i had been a huge ally sixth grade. i just had opinions and was curious.

seventh grade me and my friends fell out (we were young, its just what happens), and they were all straight, but one of my friends at the time kinda gravitated towards the like queer group in school and she was my friend even through that fall out so i also started hanging out with queer people more and more and so like at the end of seventh grade i was basically the token straight lmfao. pretty funny.

somehwere arounf the start of eight grade i realized i liked one of my friends. and she was a girl. but i came to terms with it pretty quickly cause it made sense after being friends with them cause a lot of things they said resonated a lot yk.

and i think since then my parents started liking me less and less.

you see, queer ppl dress very badass. and i had been friends with them at the end of 7th grade, so ever since the start of 8th, i started experimenting and taking my moms clothes. and more and more i came to realize more abt my sexuality and my place in this world, i wasn't the perfect innocent child my parents had anymore. i could have been, except heavy eye makeup looks makes me a witch and crop tops make me a slut.

but my parent think that this isnt me and that it isn't my fault but rather it was the fault of the people i became friends with. so now they get so much shit, i fight them so much bc they cant talk about my friends like that and i just don't know anymore honestly. i don't even speak to them that much anymore cause we moved after middle school, and my parents still bring it up as to how I'm still corrupted cause i still love my makeup and clothing style.

they think ive been corrupted, and theyve told me so many times too. and there's many times where there would be a gay book and they find out its gay or a show or movie. and its my friends fault. bc he knows they're gay. so maybe yeah. maybe i did technically get corrupted, but its not bad this time.

and what sucks most is that i cant even tell them. bc i cant even start to explain cause its just me. it feels rights. whether it be my sexuality or fashion. its just the way i am. just like how some people like red more than blue and how some people like chocolate ice cream over vanilla i just like my bold sense of style.

🩸BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA (1992)🩸

Not a favorite Dracula movie of mine by any means, but a must-watch movie for a lot of non-Dracula related reasons. This movie is an absolute visual treat, the sets and costumes are stunning throughout, and is filled with excellent actors including Gary Oldman as Dracula and Anthony Hopkins as Van Helsing. It really isn’t a horrible adaptation either as it follows the sequence of events in the books fairly accurately, and features narration from the characters in the style of diary entries which I really enjoy as a reference to the epistolary structure of the original novel. This move is also one of the rare few that features the entire cast supporting characters, however I have mixed feelings about their portrayal, particularly Mina Harker’s odd romance with Dracula (another dead-ringer reincarnated wife romance subplot—completely uninspired) which I find to be a distasteful treatment of her character even with her original personality still being somewhat intact in other ways. Ultimately this movie is worthwhile only if I don't actually think of it as a Dracula movie haha.

My favorite scene in this, which I based my little illustration off of, is when Dracula’s shadow is moving behind Jonathan, I love the way it starts out subtle enough that you might not be sure you’re seeing it right, gradually getting more out of sync up to the moment it begins moving completely independent of him. I think it’s brilliant.

so uhhhhh I drew too much stuff of specially fall morty so I’m dumping it all here. congrats to fall morty for being allowed to (kinda) come back. finally someobody let him out of his cage!!

I came up with yet another au (cue people booing). Gist is that fall morty is morty’s evil alter ego yaddayadda he takes ho-oh from silver and ho-oh becomes shadow ho-oh yaddayadda morty does evil things.

moving on to eusine’s role in this au...I honestly couldn’t decide what it should be. I don’t think eusine would ever chose anyone or anything over morty (this is not up for debate) but eusine won’t help morty destroy anything or reset the goddamn world either. I just pull a “porque no los dos” and just make eusine an unwilling accomplice.

so uh fun fact about me. I listen to music while I draw and when I hear a lyric/verse I really like I just write it on the canvas, doesn’t matter if it’s related to the art or not. I actually forgot to erase the lyrics in this case since I mostly sketch on one layer lmfao. song in reference was Siouxsie and the Banshees’s “Night Shift” and I actually wrote the misheard lyrics but that’s unimportant lol.

Honestly Gran, you should have seen this coming. You of all people should know that Midoriya i-will-break-all-my-bones-if-it-means-i-get-to-save-one-life Izuku is allergic to obeying authority.

Midoriya said fuck you and my quirk, Aizawa is more important. Speaking of Aizawa he looks stuck somewhere between being touched and absolutely horrified.

Aizawa thinks back to that time he told Midoriya he couldn't be a hero, which honestly wasn't the best first impression, and Bakugou comes in with A.P Shot: Machine Gun which looks really powerful. Except that it's not because Shigaraki literally shrugs off his attack and calls the explosions "little fireworks". If four of my favourite characters weren't in mortal danger right now I would be feeding off of Shiggy's dgaf energy.

Midoriya tries to restrain Shiggy with Black Whip and ends up being dragged along for the ride instead. Shiggy says he's not really interested in them right now when Bakugou tries to intercept Shiggy again and it looks like he's about to give Bakugou a bitch slap to heaven but Enji shows up in time to punch Shiggy out of the way. Nice to know you're still trying buddy.

(Edit: I'm only just now noticing the blood coming from Enji's nose and mouth. Eh, he'll be fine.)

Endeavour's first and immediate reaction upon seeing his two trouble making interns is to ask where the fuck his son is and I think that's adorable but I digress.

Midoriya tells him that it's just him and Bakugou and now I'm half expecting Todoroki to just appear out of nowhere. Enji refocuses his attention on Shigaraki, who is already on his feet after being punch, like, 30ft across the ground by fists engulfed in flames but I guess that's just the norm for him now.

AIZAWA DON'T SAY SHIT LIKE THAT THAT'S HOW PEOPLE DIE HAVEN'T YOU EVER READ A SHOUNAN MANGA FUCK!

Enji has given up on trying to keep Izuku and Katsuki out of the fight if he was ever trying to begin with and tells them to support Aizawa and tells Bakugou to make sure Izuku doesn't get snatched. Meanwhile, Shiggy's objective has switched to grab Deku and run.

YO WHAT THE FUCK! Has he gone full on AFO now. How the fuck is Midoriya going to explain this? He's gonna have to tell them. Shiggy looks like what ever thread was holding his fractured mind together just snapped and I feel really bad for him. This isn't even dgaf vibes anymore, it's just insanity and I find myself thinking, not for the first time, that they really should just unplug AFO's life support.

Ok nevermind Shiggy hasn't completely lost it yet and both him and Midoriya are very confused by what just happened. Enji uses Hell Spider cause it worked so well the first time while Shiggy not only realises AFO spirit or whatever TOOK OVER HIS MIND FOR A FEW SECONDS, he also takes this opportunity to call AFO out for his MASSIVE ego and straight up tells him not to fuck around with his body and that he has his own reasons for wanting OFA, and I stan that so hard. If only Shiggy wasn't actively trying to kill everyone.

The last time I stanned Shigaraki this hard was the Liberation Army arc. You go Tomura. Be your own man. You don't need that asthma riddled potato head looking ass. Also I like how Hori drew him and AFO together like that. It's like even as he's saying it, AFO is right on top of him.

I really need to keep reading lol. Shiggy says he wants to be better than AFO and then proceeds to DECAY AFO'S IMAGE, permanently cutting ties with him. I think this might be a worse outcome to AFO taking over his body but we'll see.

Gran kicks Shiggy and tells him not to trample on Nana's heart anymore to which Shiggy responds "Who the fuck is Nana?" with the most dazed and confused look I've ever seen in my life. I guess it makes sense since he never found out what her name was. That or he just doesnt remember her. He did decay her and the rest of his family in his weird dreamscape.

Gran thinks back to how defeated AM looked after they found out who Tomura was and comes to the conclusion that Shigaraki breeds pain and suffering where ever he goes, which is a valid assumption to make considering *gestures wildly at the last 10 chapters*.

Gran and Enji charge at Shiggy and Shiggy gets this look of death on his face and it scares me.

Tomura uses jump and avoids them both in favour of going directly after Midoriya instead. Bakugou, of course, expected this and pulls the pin on his gauntlet that's aimed at Shigaraki. I have a bad feeling about this.

All the pros watch in mild horror as Bakugou proceeds to release a bigass explosion right on top of Shigaraki. Bit the real question is: Did it work?

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?!??! YOU'RE CITTING BACK TO THE MANSION NOW?!?!?!??!!??!!??!

I don't even know why I'm surprised, Hori's been pulling this shit for weeks. I should be used to it by now.

THE WALTEN FILES: my jumbled notes on my blind run-in with this web series

first off this is gonna be long and unorganized, also this is my second time writing this as i had lost literally half of my progress and im This (imagine two fingers almost touching with a 0.0000000001mm distance between them) close to ripping all of the fucking hair out of my goddamn head. but now this will be extra long and yes, i will lose some accuracy to my first writing but thats okay ill probably edit this a kajillion times over

which brings me to my next tangent; im literally braindumping here. so to have a smidge of organization all afterthoughts, edits and corrections will be boldened, i forgot what im gonna do with italicized text but ill probably bolden it here yeah im pretty sure its for side tangents, separate from Corrections, which are in bold. also theyre for emphasis too.

so in general, this post right here is all of my notes i wrote down on my grid-patterned sticky notes (which i used WAYYYY too much of) about the first 3 uploaded walten files youtube videos transferred onto my handy dandy digital notebook, this b(l)og. yeppers peppers. you know im serious about this shit when i typed probably over like a thousand fucking words including boldened shit, italicized shit and motherfucking links, lost it ALL, and im sitting here re-typing it again.

clarifying this now, im gonna put some useless shit which i thought was code onto this because even though it was useless it was part of my notes and im physically going to combust if i dont put down every single thing i wrote on my papers. so what i thought was code was in the closed captions, i started writing it down when i got to the second video but came back to my first videos notes to include them. i wrote down the first letter to every word that was capitalized in the closed captions, which i had on as a default because number one i knew going into this id need them because most web horror things like args and cryptic shit like that has some of the most crucial shits in the closed captions. number two i am autistic and have auditory processing issues and have most closed captioning on as a default if theyre available.

i then jotted, in parenthesis of course, the names of the animatronics when they were listed in the animation section of the video; bon aka the blue bunny, sha aka the sheep one, boozoo aka the clown<3 honk<33, and banny aka the purpled eyelashed up one who is also a bunny btw. also i got boozoo the clown and boozoo the mustache guy confused because apparently the clowns name is billy???? but they named “boozoo” in bons sleepover and showed the clown? idk maybe im an idiot and theyre the same or just an idiot and theyre different or a super mega (matt and ryan?!?!??) idiot in general which is probably the case

i started drawing little stars to write down things i thought would be super important or to 100% look at again. the first subject of this pointy torture was the part of the video where at 3:00, i marked it down to make sure to reverse the audio as it was most definitely a weird audio that has that signature warp-y effect that makes sure you KNOW its in reverse. i then listened back to it Very carefully (still got it wrong) and got this: “you finally start to remember. that old doll. they will look out for you soon” im also pretty sure i heard “sophie” at the end of that audio but im not entirely sure and dont remember and i dont wanna go back to check lmfao but anyways it didnt matter because i was wrong anyway. after i had finished all 3 walten files i watched the film theory video on the walten files (which didnt cover all 3 but was dece.) out of curiosity and to hear matpats signature silly little voice explain some stuff i already knew, and click some shit in my brain that i couldve thought up of if i was a bit more... i dont know honestly. anyways yeah so the actual audio is “you finally start to remember. that old day. they will look out for you soon.” so yeah. day, not doll.

i then wrote down “sarah evelyn”, the name on the bons sleepover animation (i dont remember if she created it or animated it or whatnot) and scribbled will she matter? under her name. turns out no, as i didnt see her name in the rest of the series, let alone the first video. this is also a great time to mention how matpat theory helped me realize that the walten files are collections of videos, uploaded onto youtube by anthony. (i already knew about anthony as he signed his name in the descriptions of the youtube videos, making me categorize this overall web series more into an arg type genre.) but yes, the tapes, recorded “irl” footage, animated clips, vhs tape recordings and other audio-visual content is all collected and labeled the walten files, as i had mistaken each video to be a tape. stupid me. alrighty, onward!

i jotted down with an arrow that; sophie was a nightguard? she was wearing the uniform explained in tape 2 i dont know why but i went back into my video 1 notes after i had watched video 2. organization purposes. i guess.?? 

i then paused the video when the screen flickered a date, the beginning of video footage dated 10/10/1982 (Brian Stells?) god my little genius ass assuming the videographer was brian stells, based on the id card i saw earlier.

i then wrote down what text i saw on the dead, mangled, bloody body in the purple security suit; “i cant feel anything” “he thought i was her” then drew a little arrow pointing to; thought brian was sophie? or ashley? i also starred the name Brian Stells this is totally out of order LMFAOOOOOOOO also i wrote down ashley because, again, my little pea brain went back on my video 1 notes after watching video 2. but yep thats all i wrote for The Walten Files 1 - Company Introductory Tape

So I came up with this prompt? months ago, but never wrote it or really developed the idea past the prompt because I don’t know, honestly, and I kind of forgot about it. But holy fuck it was the first thing I thought of when I read your request.

You were born into a society who idolized time. Who counted down the seconds, minutes, hours, years, until they would finally be given the Gift.

Whenever someone turned eighteen, their Soul Bonds would emerge, fully formed and matured after years of being unstable. And in times of high emotion, whether good or bad, sometimes soulmates could hear the voice of the other. They could be anywhere, from anywhere. Just because one spoke one language, didn’t mean that the other would. Those were called the Unlucky.

You’d always thought that you’d been cursed into the small statistic of people who never got the Gift of a Soul Bond. When your eighteenth birthday had come to pass without even a sliver of a murmur of another, you thought that was it. Sure, there were what some liked to call “late bloomers,” who sometimes took a few extra years to develop their Bond. But when one year turned to two, and then two turned to three, and then four, and then five, you lost hope.

And you coped with it. About 14% of the population were stuck in the same boat you were. Sure, that wasn’t a lot, but there were online groups. And real life ones too. For people to take comfort within whenever they felt overwhelmed or like they were…other. Society, while not necissarily openly biased against those who were Bondless, still treated them as outcasts. As someone stuck on the bottom rung of the social class.

But some looked at not having a Soul Bond as a beautiful thing. Because then, at least, you could have a choice in who you loved. Who you decided to spend the rest of your life with. And it wasn’t like you’d never been with someone else in that way before. Hell, everyone experimented back in high school. Some wanted practice and experience for their soulmate before recieving the Gift of the Soul Bond. And others?

Well, others just liked the feeling of being with someone.

So it wasn’t like you were some lonely spinster who’d never been touched. No, you just didn’t have another who you could call your own. Your person.

Or, so you’d thought.

You were twenty-three years old the first time you ever heard his voice.

It wasn’t like they’d portrayed in the movies where everything was beautiful and time froze and whatever the hell people put in cheesy chick-flicks nowadays. No, it’d been sudden and confusing and loud.

God, it’d been so loud.

So thunderous, in fact, that it’d ripped you straight out of your R.E.M. cycle and into the realm of consciousness. Darkness greeted your vision, which it should, mind you, seeing as how it was one in the morning. But that was neither here nor there. Because before you’d been able to even attempt to wonder what had jolted you awake like a bucket of cold water, you heard it.

Well, not an it, per se.

But a he.

A voice yelling in a language that you couldn’t understand.

And like any normal person, you threw your covers aside and grabbed the metal baseball bat you kept underneath your bed just in case. Because there was someone in your apartment.

The door to your bedroom creaked slightly as you opened it and you silently vowed to oil that shit the next time chance you got, because it was extremely impractical for situations where you needed to be quiet. Nothing but the blackness of your hallway greeted you as you crept down it, eyes blown wide to let in as much light from the street outside as possible.

But you couldn’t hear anything, nothing out of the ordinary beyond the loud blaring of your neighbor’s television through the thin walls. Though just as you bumped hip first into the couch, you heard it again.

Shouting that seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere at once. It wasn’t as loud this time. Nor could you understand the words. But you could still clearly hear the deep, husky-yet-lazy drawl. The way the man’s tongue drew sounds into existance like he was speaking in cursive. How at the end of every other—sentence?—was a quick, sharp intake of breath sliding between teeth.

“Who’s there?” You whipped around, knocking into the couch again, in order to rush to the light switch by the front door.

Soft yellow light illuminated your small apartment, and everything looked perfectly in place. But that didn’t stop the frantic beating of your heart. Because what the hell. There was no one there. Just you and your fluffy white cat asleep on the living room windowsill. Were you going crazy? Starting to hear voices in your head now?

Because that didn’t…make…sense…

Until you heard his voice one last time, only calmed now. Not as angry and shouting as before. Or, at least that’s what you put together with the few contexts clues you were given.

It didn’t make sense because it couldn’t be true. You were cursed, you were an Other, a Bondless. And you’d accepted your fate and moved on. All of your life you’d been told that you weren’t good enough. From your parents, your friends, the rest of society who ostrizised you for something that you couldn’t even control. Because surely there must be something wrong with you for not being born like them. For not being worthy of the same love all of the rest of them were.

Because it didn’t make sense.

Not even when the baseball bat slid out of your loosened grasp to fall to the cheap carpeted floor with a muffled thud.

Or when you fell back against the front door and slid down its surface to land next to your discarded weapon.

And you realized that you were fucked. Because if it was real, if it wasn’t just a figment of your imagination and you were really hearing what you thought you were hearing, well.

How the hell were you supposed to find someone who you couldn’t even understand?
