Here's the thing:

I can empathize with Emma to some degree. At the end of the day, she's just a girl with an intense crush on Itsuomi and constantly makes her feelings known to him hoping that one day, he'll feel the same way. Just peek high school girl behavior.

HOWEVER...

It has been literal years and Itsuomi has made it clear more than once that he is not interested and he's now in a relationship with Yuki. And Emma refuses to get the hint and even went as far as to try and make up a lie about spending the night with Itsuomi to chase Yuki away. So when she's at her job crying about how Itsuomi "ghosted" her over text, it's hard for me to feel even remotely bad for her.

Again, I feel for her on the "unrequited love" front. But for everything else, she needs to move on.

So the most recent episode is the first time we've seen a female character experience any kind of fan service. With her boobs bouncing and the shirt ripping and everything. And it's when she is not only killing and maiming several people but when we've seen her as she's become a literal monster. It feels like the fan service is something that's being DONE to her, just like the monstrosity is. I think it's intentional.

Not only because they're showing us how out of character Falin is acting, which is part of it. She's not herself because she's been forced to become something else. I think it plays into the creepy things we noticed with the intro. How far are they willing to go, but how far are they unwilling to go may be a better question. Laois was unwilling to hurt her until he also started seeing more monster than person. But, would he be willing to classify a person as a monster anyway. Where does the switch happen and who gets to draw that line. If they had killed Falin and not revived her right there would they have eaten the monster? Would they be eating a monster?

If it wasn't for his party Laois wouldn't have stopped at demi-humans, why would he stop at humans?
