NCIS Season 21 Finale (Spoilers alert)

First of all, allow me to say how amazing that episode was. The intensity, the anxiety and fear it gave me, the scenes with Parker and Knight! Gary Cole and Katrina Law deserve to be praised for their performance. In my opinion, it was a really great season finale and I loved it.

To be completely honest, I'll definitely rewatch this season during the summer because no episode missed. It was short but every ep were great in their own way. So kudos to them!

Now, onto what I wanted to talk about. Who's Lily? As an Alden Parker lover, I thought about it and here's my theory: Alden is lying about not knowing who Lily is. Imo, she was his sister - it seemed like they didn't have much age difference, so maybe a twin? - and clearly something happened to her, which deeply traumatized Alden. Now, when Jess asked him about his mother, it seemed like there was something deep there. So, what I'm thinking is that Lily died in an accident, probably on a ship. Maybe she fell over board in the flashback we saw? And Alden's mother probably held him responsible, which got them to have a complicated relationship.

I may be completely wrong, but this is my theory for now. What do you think?

I also have to talk about Jimmy and Jessica. Our sweet Jimmy was indeed a bit unfair to Jessica, but I kinda understand him. He's been through so much, lost so many people in a very short time, and ever since he learned about Jess's plan, he's probably feeling like she can leave any day. And he's done with losing people he loves.

However, I don't think Jess would've said yes to Vance if they didn't have that 'fight' beforehand. Now, I really don't think Katrina is leaving the show, so something will happen in the season 22 premiere, and she will change her mind. Maybe it's wishful thinking but there is where I stand for now.

i don't like where these leaks are heading...especially the part where daeron would be cut from the show. they're going to divide his book plot between aemond and helaena which will validate #those shippers. i will be honest that the show did give hints to a romance between them, but when the alys leaked audition was released i completely thought they scrapped that idea entirely. this is a HUGE change so if this happens, anything can happen. the characters and the plot will be wildly different...most specially aemond. to me it seems they're cutting him to give way for helaena. and sure i agree that it would be good for a mother to get her revenge but aemond would be divided between harrenhal and the reach. this leaves no room for alysmond to develop or happen. it only opens up room for helaena to be the one who has some connection with alys if alys has seer powers too and not aemond. i now fear that they're really making #that ship to happen because it would give aemond and helaena a good reason to commit war crimes and the revenge on daemon to make more sense. another concern is that they'll cut alys and aemond's son because this would mean he already has son who died and was relevant for the greens motivations. they'll just exciuse it because everything ends with aegon the younger's coronation.

i hate thinking about this at all but those writers would like drama like this. i just hope those leaks are dead wrong but these leakers have been reliable thus far

I'm at odds with most of the opinions expressed here. This will be a lengthy post, so buckle up:

First, I don't think the show provided any significant hints about the Helaemond ship. People are citing two instances to back up this claim - the first one is of baby Aemond talking about fulfilling his duty, had his mother betrothed Helaena to him instead of Aegon. The second one is in episode 9 where the older Aemond busts out this incredible line of dialogue: "I am next in line for throne. Should they come looking for me, I intend to be found." Both of these scenes were set up to establish Aemond's primary characteristics which alligns with him being duty-bound all while having great ambitions for the throne. Now, why would Aemond assume that he was next in line for throne when Jaeherys exists? And to that I offer *in D&D's voice*: AeMonD kINd oF fOrGoT aBoUt HIs NepHeWS!

It's a writing discrepancy and you will find many such inconsistencies throughout the series. Right from Laenor's age in episode 1 to episode 5, Alicent warning Aegon in episode 6 and then acting shocked when Otto says the same thing in episode 9, Luke acting self-conscious about his 'bastard' status in episode 8 only to laugh in the face of someone he maimed shortly after; and many more. Most characters have some major inconsistencies that can be attributed to post production rewrites and editing.

It's possible I'm mistaken, but it looks like people generally scoff at this ship beyond Twitter and Tumblr. On Reddit, the majority of comments are cynical or dismissive towards this pairing. Even those who think it might actually be canon have voiced their disappointment with the theory. In response to you mentioning the changes being made in the show, I completely agree - they are not favorable to TG fans. It appears that the narrative is now being heavily biased towards Rhaenyra's side, with the introduction of Dyana and the potential omission of Daeron from the storyline. None of these developments are positive!

Now with Daeron's storyline, I am sure it will be divided between Aemond, Gwayne and Cole in the chance that he is absent from the show. But I am confused as to which arc do you think will be adopted by Helaena here. I don't think they will have her fighting actively besides her brothers in the show either. They may have changed Rhaenyra's character development in Season 1 to make us think that may happen, but I am not sure about Helaena. She's a dreamer: she might serve a larger purpose later when it comes to predicting the Dance or even the possible demise of House Targaryen as they've already introduced Aegon's dream in the show. Other than that, I don't think she'll take part in any battle strategy.

Now this is obviously my point of view but once again, I am open to discussion. If anyone has taken the time to read through this post and wants to share their opinion, please feel free to contribute.

Sorry I didn't answer this sooner, but I must have been busy or something the day you sent this ask.

Most chaotic? I think I have a few:

The following description in the first tournament described two characters:

He's got daddy issues. He got fire powers. He's got rage. He's a villain that became a protagonist. He's popularly shipped with the female lead character but they don't get together in canon. He's got a red and black colour scheme.

This was Prince Zuko from Avatar the Last Airbender and Warren Peace from Sky High.

Garwin Chang from Keeper of the Lost Cities received a record four descriptions in my first tournament.

First:

He was only in one scene in the first book and all he did was bully a 12 year old because he was bitter she got into Yale and he didn't and wear an ugly shirt. (The shirt said "Back off-I'm gonna fart!")

Second:

He’s petty and immature as an eight year old, what more could you want from a man

Third:

What a fucking guy. He was on-page in this 9 (soon to be 10, maybe 11) (12 if you count book 8.5) book series for like... three lines. He's a twelfth grader who dedicates a good chunk of his life hating on the twelve year old in his (twelfth grade) class. His only outfit ever mentioned is a shirt that says "LOOK OUT, I'M GONNA FART!" He's especially bitter about said twelve year old because she got into Yale (despite being twelve) (she was in the news and everything) and he did not. That's literally it. He's a bitter little bitch and honestly the whole fandom loves him for it

And fourth:

High school senior who was rejected from Yale. Bullies a twelve year old and wears shirt that say things like “back off I’m gonna fart”

And for the first tournament they were all entered in separately, so a lot of people including myself were like "Didn't we eliminate that guy already?" (Oddly enough, none of the Garwins that won the tournament, but Sophie Foster, the girl he bullies, did.)

And the only character in this tourney who had multiple submissions was Cole from Lego Ninjago. This time we switched descriptions each round to avoid the same mistake. I announced that at the beginning, but some latecomers were still confused.

Here's the first description:

he's died like three times by now. his mom died and his dad neglected him so he ran away and followed some random old man to "fight the forces of evil." he's fully willing to commit murder, especially in the earlier seasons. he has a habit of picking up random children and adopting them. he has a boyfriend. he has self worth issues and a whole lot of trauma that is pretty much never unpacked. he has superstrength and a cool scar. he also has a very interesting connection to death.

And here's the second:

He has a boyfriend and a lovely trans daughter, as well as two adopted sons. Also he has a magical girl style transformation despite being a grown adult man

So yeah. I think those are the most chaotic descriptions and characters in this blog's history.

And I also felt compelled to mention that I think the most chaotic rounds were the first round of the first tournament (because I didn't really know what I was doing at the time and I had to add an extra poll because 3 characters were submitted but not counted), and the tiebreaker rounds in the second tournament (because there were so many characters competing in tiebreakers that I couldn't use Tumblr to make the polls, and so I didn't post the descriptions on the post but rather provided a link to the document containing all the descriptions).

Gilbert for the ask meme please!

favorite thing about them: i honestly love how gilbert is such a difficult character to rp / write. to me because his motivations are driven solely by grudges he has held for a millennia. i love and hate the fact that he remembers things so well. it contributes to why he’s such a tormented man (ruminating on the same stuff for so many years) and why he’s so detested by others (won’t let stuff go)

least favorite thing about them: how violent he is, how he thinks violence is the only way to gain what he wants. it’s obviously because his formative years were surrounded by it but i think he had to fight his way to the top. he fought tooth and nail to live a comfortable life and to not be swallowed up by the 5000 other brothers that surrounded him. his hell bent ideas on revenge make sense but more often than not he’s 500 years too late and doing nothing but bringing back old, painful wounds that could have been fixed with a conversation and a handshake

favorite line: (this is from a drabble, unfortunately) “because we have no one else, no other choice. no one wants us. we’re nothing but a ragged band of forgotten empires, left to rust on history’s scrap heap. you and rodi, at least you’ve only got each other. but as for us? well, all we have is our mutual hatred for the hand we’ve been dealt.”

unpopular opinion: gilbert should not be the tumblr funny man character that everyone likes and i sometimes get really frustrated about how he is depicted by the fandom. i find him as someone that is an anachronism, someone who is stuck in the past, who’s legacy is written on every wall. he’s everywhere, yet no where at the same time. i just feel like the fandom doesn’t take the loaded / serious / problematic parts of him seriously, and it can really be detrimental to how people view and think about prussia

Hi I started this draft MONTHS ago and just found it again sorry !!

Some of my favourite side characters are Benthomaar, Okino, and Faith (Heavy Metal). I like their character archetypes and they all have this. Air of tragedy to them (in my opinion) that matches what’s so compelling to me about Lloyd if that makes sense. Like ooohhh girl you have an Ancient And Poetic Tragedy in your characterization, I like that in a man /J

(I wrote this pre DR pt2 and now I’m obsessed with Percival and Jordana also)

As for ships I think the three I think about most are probably Bumblebee (Percy/Arin), PIXane, and lostshipping (Cole/Geo)? But I enjoy so many especially in this fandom where there’s a fantastic multishipping/poly-positive/rarepair culture. I think that’s so cool. I’ve been liking seabreeze (morro/Benthomaar) and citrus (echo/morro) maybe I just want to put that twink in a relationship.

As for headcanons ooohhhh okay where to start without doing too much.

1. There is a two part cycle in the FSM’s family that fascinates me. Dragon/oni ofc as the first part and The Child as the second. The role of the dragon and oni in this cycle are to end up believing that they are destined to be at odds, and the child is just The Figure That They Make Choose Between Them. Lloyd and the FSM are The Child, and wu and garmadon and the Actual Namesakes of the role are the dragon and oni.

(My favourite part of this hc is that it’s fully psychological there is no actual predetermined role for any of them to play. This just keeps happening)

2. The “Which Ninja Is Your Boyfriend (females only)” quiz exists on the in universe quotev equivalent and the ninja have all taken it.

3. Jay wants to be in a band and every time he meets someone who plays an instrument he gets Weird

I do! not as often as i'd like but i do read them all right away, i have notifications for ao3 comments turned on. in that way, i get to enjoy them twice!

I have a short oneshot called Midnight about Halloween 1981 and I have another one called Where The Willow Don't Bend about Remus being a ghost at Hogwarts. I think those both end pretty angsty

In general, all my fics have happy endings. i go to fiction to escape the fact that almost nothing in life has a happy ending so i don't really like ending stories with anything except happiness. I really like the ending of We Can Pretend - they're in love, they get to be together, they're in Paris, their friends are all there with them, they're singing Nat King Cole to each other on a balcony while coq au vin is on the stove. fantasy scenario tbh.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

sure do. i won't list it. one thing that happens (which isn't exactly hate, but it makes me laugh) is when people criticize the fact that wolfstar are mentioned as having greys in The Road Not Taken because they're only 28/29 so they can't possibly have grey hair lol (i definitely had greys by that age, 100%)

yeah most of my fic is smut, but i'm sort of getting away from that. the TENSION is the best part, in my opinion.

i have a few fics that i have done that for. with French, with Russian, and now with Portuguese. it's difficult, Google Translate will only get you so far, but i LOVE languages so much. people will usually politely correct me

OH TRUTH BE TOLD the Good Charlotte fandom, i am not even joking you right now. wrote an ENORMOUS self-insert fic for me and my friends with the members of Good Charlotte (i was with Benji, obviously) at the age of like 15 and the plot was SO fucking ridiculous. i mean. john mayer was there, ville valo from HIM was there (the main character had dated both of them before benji, of course). Elijah Wood was in there at some point and i think he was a murderer???? i should do a dramatic re-telling of what happens in this fic over tumblr (i will not post it, it is so so badly written)

20. Favorite fic you've written?

truthfully, i think it's Dear Your Holiness. i wrote that just after losing my grandmother and all of the conversations about faith still sort of hit me in the gut even now. plus the tension is really nice, i love the idea of a heavily tattooed Remus, and it's the music of my teenage years so it's very sentimental for that reason, too.

I for one like Alicole, Helaemond (controversial in green fandom for some reason but idc), Rhaemond (Aemond and Rhaena would be great together in different circumstances, I'll die on this hill), Aegond (not romantically, but their sibling dynamics is everything). On the other hand, Alysmond, Daemyra or Lucemond are not my cup of tea. As for Rhaenicent, I wasn't really against it, but it seems that the writers are ready to sacrifice the consistency of the story and character arcs in order to push this ship and that's a big no.

I have so many favorite ships! But I’ll talk about my most to least favorites! I’m also with you on Aegond so no explanation on that one<33 post is too long, I’ll put it under the cut!

1. Alicole! Always on top!!! There’s so many unresolved feelings between them. A mutual understanding and affection, they bonded over their resentment for Rhaenyra and it brought them closer and closer to the point that Fabien himself said that Cole wants what Alicent wants. Devotion, unconditional love and loyalty. And it’s so hot that Criston is also her sworn shield👀 he even killed because he thought someone disrespected her😮‍💨

2. Rhaemond! Oh this ship is my newest obsession and quite frankly, one of the most interesting ones! Rhaena and Aemond are both similar in so many aspects; both dragonless and overshadowed by their siblings, and the fact that Rhaena is Aemond’s biggest enemy’s betrothed? Yes. Give me the tension. The hatred. The enemies to lovers. I love them so much together. Grumpy/sunshine mixed with hate to love relationship✨✨

3. Helaegon! Yes, most people hate this ship for right reasons, but me…no, I love them. Yes, they’re toxic. Yes, there’s so many things wrong with their relationship, but I sincerely believe that even though they’re not in love as wife and husband, they love each other as siblings, as the parents of their children. Aegon’s not the best father and husband but I know that there’s a deep rooted affection he holds for his family. And the fact that they’re both victims of Otto’s skims…

4. Helaemond! This one is a popular one, and I love it too! It has such a unique dynamic. The second son who got nothing and craves everything given to his older brother, including their sister. I love how fans headcanon Helaena finding comfort in Aemond’s arms and vic verca.

5. Alysmond! Nah it’s probably because I’m a total Aemond girlie and don’t like seeing him with anyone lol but there’re so many things wrong with this ship. Alys is a middle aged wet nurse, and Aemond is 19, so basically there’re hints of grooming. Or even if not, Aemond takes her as his war prize, which is far from healthy. And there’s been talks about Alys manipulating Aemond into sleeping with her so she can be spared, which is still pretty toxic. It’s a no for me.

6. Rhaenicent! I love Alicent, she’s the apple of my eye, and I’m neutral with Rhaenyra, but it’s just not my thing. I like them as friends and with other people lol.

7. Daemyra! They’re both very very sexy, but I don’t like Daemon at all😭 grooming, manipulation, isolating Rhaenyra, abusive behavior… I think Rhaenyra deserves much better! (She deserves Harwin)

8. Lucemond… I can tolerate any other ship but this. Cheers to people who like them together, but it’s a very hard no for me. Luke is a child, a minor, and shipping him with an adult… yup. Oh yeah plenty of them tbh lol

My hottest take? Honestly? I’m super disappointed in how cruel people were to people with Tech Lives theories on this damn site. Not just in the way that I’m sad about *gestures to everything* but I have seen some really nasty takes and have blocked people over them even though they were never directed at me. It shows me who you are when you’re cruel to a stranger over simply *checking my notes* wanting their favorite character to be alive. Some people in the Star Wars fandom are mean as hell. Maybe it’s because I’m fandom old (mid 20s) so I’ve been around for over a decade in fandom spaces but I can say that Star Wars fans can be really really mean compared to other fandoms. That’s more of a problem on reddit (never again) but it happens on tumblr and twitter (which I don’t have any longer but have heard… stories.) My little corner is GREAT. No complaints about this little corner I’ve found myself in but every time I venture out I see some shiiiiiiiiit and it takes me a minute to remember that this fandom can be really volatile. This is supposed to be fun. I say my piece, I agree or disagree with other people’s piece. Then I move on. I won’t argue. It ain’t my style. I get really upset when I see people being downright nasty to each other over fandom stuff. Stop it.

Also. Listen. I started in the Teen Wolf and Merlin fandoms in high school. There’s a lot of great stuff to use from those shows but canon was rarely awesome. I got used to letting the fandom do the work, fans shipping everything under the sun, and making up wild plotlines that wouldn’t actually make sense because who even knows what’s going on in the actual show anymore. Fandoms are wild and I like different opinions and different content and everything coming together in a way that is both weird and wonderful. Sometimes people want the entire fandom to like exactly what they like and get really aggressive with other fans over it. That is not my vibe. If I see something I don’t like then it isn’t for me and I move on! Enough said.

Instead of moving on, blocking tags, or blocking users many fans straight up call people names! Start arguments! Post cruel things! It’s stupid! I’ll say it, it’s stupid as hell! Just block shit, man! You can’t control other people. Protect your peace and block stuff you don’t like. I promise it’ll feel better <3

Tech and Luke Skywalker. Flying! Ships! Podracing! This is the only thing I know of Luke Skywalker! They’d bond over this and make ships go faster together so they’d be besties.

Crosshair and Merrin. In the way that I think he’d look at her like she hung the moon and the stars because she’s so cool and she’s scary and Crosshair appreciates intimidating people and would want to see all of the things she can do with her magic even though he’s kind of terrified of her. (I’m projecting, I love Merrin.)

Echo and Cal Kestis. This is an inspired choice, I feel. Cal has a really big connection to protecting people and Echo WOULD LOVE to work with him to protect people from the Empire (play Jedi: Fallen Order 👀)

Wrecker and Chewbacca. Wrecker really thrived in that episode with the wookiees and I think he’d have a great time with Chewbacca.

49. What has been your favorite part about being in the fandom?

All of my friends!!! I’ve made a lot of great friends in the past two years and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It’s not very easy for me to make friends, if I’m being honest, so having friends that I talk to about the clones and star wars and fic ideas means a lot to me. It is the ultimate draw for me. I love talking to people about things I love, hearing everyone’s opinions, seeing everyone write and create art and do deep dive analysis. I love seeing people run role play blogs and come up with ask games. I love love love the fun parts of fandom just existing. Seeing people get excited about ideas and share them with others and create gifs and have fun. That absolutely has my heart. We’re all just here trying to express ourselves and that is something I think gets overlooked sometimes. This is something we do in our free time. We’re here because we want to be, not because we have to be. It’s a beautiful thing, to find connection over a shared love of something, and I love that. It’s kind of the same thing I love about concerts. Concerts are a unique place where it’s acceptable to have big emotional reactions with other people over the shared love of the music being played for you. For one night you aren’t just a fan of a band standing in a room listening to some people sing at you. You’re a part of the crowd, experiencing a million different emotions all in the same moment but not one of you is feeling the exact same way as the person next to you. It’s a wonderful thing to experience. This fandom, my little corner of it at least, feels about the same. We’re all experiencing life differently, different day to day things, different upbringings, different opinions, likes, and dislikes. But we’re all here, watching the same thing, and coming away with different emotions and opinions.

Let me preface this. I love all of the actresses and their characters. However, Shannen Doherty holds a special place in my heart forever. I was with her in the Beverly Hills 90210 days, and I never stopped loving her.

Oddly enough, though not on purpose, it turns out that my ranking matches their age order. Prue, Piper, Phoebe, Paige.

Season 3 is my favorite because it's the last with Prue, and I love how they continue to grow into their powers. I still love the rest of the show, though.

Favorite ships: Phoebe and Cole are my favorite couple in the entire series. I am still upset at their ending. Piper and Leo are so perfect for each other, and they fought so hard to be together. Prue and Bane are the couple that should have happened but didn't. That would have been an amazing story to watch.

23 in 2023 Wrap-Up

So I made a list at the beginning of 2023, and did actually try to read most of the books on it! Results were mixed, but I did read a lot of books I'd been meaning to get to for some time, and made peace with many others. I won't be doing the same for this year because I genuinely don't have that many books I plan on reading. So here they all are:

Books that didn't come out this year:

Alecto the Ninth, Tamsyn Muir - I was very optimistic, but there was not in fact an official release date and there is not one now. I did read the new short story though, and it was very good!

Books I didn't start:

De Profundis, Oscar Wilde - Too stressed for something so soul-searching. Maybe this year?

Lord of the Flies, William Golding - I decided I wasn't going to put myself through this one again and let go of all my guilt about it.

War and Peace, Leo Tolstoy - Similarly, I finally came to terms with the fact that I'm not particularly interested in reading War and Peace right now.

Books I didn't finish:

Once & Future, A.R. Capetta & Cory McCarthy - Very YA, the humour was clearly targeted at a younger audience than me.

Cinnamon Toast and the End of the World, Janet E. Cameron - NOT in fact the lighthearted read its cover makes it out to be.

Beirut Hellfire Society, Rawi Hage - Not as interesting as the title.

The Personal Librarian, Marie Benedict & Victoria Christopher Murray - Might have the prose I liked least all year. The authors were telling everything, which made it very heavy-handed.

Station Eleven, Emily St. John Mandel - Too dark for me :) I regret starting this book. The prose was also a bit heavy-handed.

Books I finished that were Bad:

After the Victorians, A. N. Wilson - Written in 2005, and you can tell, because Wilson's opinions are stale as fuck. I can't really trust much of what he wrote because of that, though the chapter on crosswords was interesting.

Der Dunkle Schwarm, Marie Graßhoff - Dystopia with weak worldbuilding, and I found myself noticing plot holes, which isn't something I typically do.

Books I finished that were mediocre:

The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald - 200 pages of Nick feeling uncomfortable and also some commentary on the american dream that has become common knowledge in the intervening century. This book is for someone else.

Ships of the ‘45, John S. Gibson - Exactly what it says on the cover.

Company Town, Madeline Ashby - Interesting worldbuilding, dull mystery plot (why is it that so much interesting fantasy/sci fi gets saddled with the dullest of imaginable mystery plots?)

Books I finished that were good:

Blood Like Fate, Liselle Sambury - I liked this a bit less than the first book, but it was still interesting and unique YA sci fi! The romance was also well-written.

Legendborn, Tracy Deonn - Honestly I was mostly reading this for the (enjoyably) messy love triangle, and I would continue the series if it looked like my preferred pairing was going to become canon.

Worlds of Ink and Shadow, Lena Coakley - Wittier than I remember it being!

Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Truman Capote - Different, but just as good as the movie.

Love After the End, edited by Joshua Whitehead - An interesting short story collection. My thoughts were very much provoked.

The Sentence, Louise Erdrich - Literary fiction I found satisfactory upon reading that has somehow stuck with me over the last few months.

Books I finished that left me Changed:

Nona the Ninth, Tamsyn Muir - AAAAAHHH (highly recommend, this literally changed everything)

The Secret History, Donna Tartt - This book makes me think maybe I should be reading more thrillers? Or at the very least more dark academia, regardless of how cliche it seems for the rest of my personality.

Small Game Hunting at the Local Coward Gun Club, Megan Gail Coles - The best literary fiction I read this year.

In conclusion, go read The Locked Tomb.

You have just witnessed that people lie. HankCon was indeed the most popular ship back than, before the world suddenly decided age gap is a problem (which it is not if we talk about two consenting adults). Yet, I'll say all the haters are just jealous of hankcon's canonicity, because it is the only ship (except norkus and luthara) that has the most of a canon proof.

And it is also himophibia. I mean, obviously not EVERY single person is gonna be homophobic, some queer people dislike HankCon too, but I'm mainly referring to the cishet girls who openly talk about how "disgusting" HankCon is and go hard on the fact players MUST see them as father/son. Even if they do hardcore stan any other gay ships in this fandom they can absolutely still be homophobic. It's VERY homophobic to ONLY accept hot/skinny/young gay men, because by that point, you're just using them as eye-candy and fetishizing them. Which, I genuinely believe many of the hardcore anti-HankCon stans are doing. HankCon, in my opinion, has more canonical proof than any other gay ship in this fandom, yet they reject it because... YEP. Hank is not young, hot, or a twink. So they call it gross, disgusting, and throw all this ridiculous incestuous and pedophilic claims at it. That is EXTREMELY homophobic, and I hope to those who are teenagers grow out of it, but yeah. That's why I believe a good amount of Ant-HankCon ideaology is just plain homophobia, veiled as fandom opinions.

The most interesting part is also that people who are usually against HankCon, seem like the ones who are applying their personal feelings and issues to the characters.

Although I'm still sure that good old stereotypes are to blame, because if Hank was younger or at least looked younger, no one would think of him as a father figure. If people are only doing this because of his age and looks (and I suspect that's the case... in most cases), it's largely the fault of the fandom itself that forces Hank into this stereotypical role. Because a lot of people who played the game, but have never been part of the fandom, have no problems seeing Hank and Connor as a potential couple or just who they are accrotding the plot - friends), it just shows how incapable they are of analyzing characters. Because according to this perspective, any human being, if they are not a child or a teenager, will be more experienced in life than any android. Shouldn't androids view all humans who are over 20 as their potential parents or parental figures then? But for some reason, if a human being looks young, no one assigns them such a role, although from such a point of view this is exactly how it should be. So either people accept that Connor is an adult, capable of making adult decisions (while remembering that he is not human), or they accept that any android is infantile by the very fact of their existence and needs a parental figure, even if humans who the androids interact with, look young.

Also, newcommers usually didn't even play the game so they listen to what fandom says, and fandom usually says crap like that (not to mention that this usually comes from other ships' shippers) which is also a lie

Nice time to remind that only canon we have is friends. Or two characters brutally killing each other. And the devs never intended to make them father and son. The devs is not only David Cage and even if they did, well, there's still the game itself where we never get this type of relationships. And OH MY LORD Hank calling Connor son is nothing special, somehow I doubt people know their own language well enough to remember why older people calling youger people "son" is for. The same way as cop in Kara's chapter called Adam a son. And Connor cannot take Cole's role because Cole is a 6yo boy while Connor is modelled after a man in his 30's. And saying their names are similar and using it as a proof is just too funny. If people think that the only way to get past the grief is to project a dead child onto an adult looking robot is okay... I dunno what to say.

And I can't even get it HOW other shippers who wanna see Hank and Connor as lovers can be influenced by those. Because I often see people saying they are afraid of shipping hankcon since they get hated. Because these haters never get good points, everything is built on some stupid headcanons.

But basically, canon is still friends, not father&son, and everyone who hates hankcon is not only delusional but lacks of arguments.

I didn't play Detroit: Become Human, but I saw fanart everywhere and I was under the impression that the main ship was Hank and Connor. I even thought it was cute so I ship them too.

Many years have passed and recently I discovered that, apparently, Hank always saw Connor as his son, and their relationship was meant to be fraternal??? And people actually don't really ship them because of that reason?? Im??????

Your eyes follow the small drops of rain as they fall down the windows of your room.  Lighting illuminates the ground before Casterly Rock, the trees swaying in the wind nearly being ripped out by their roots. You twist uncomfortably in bed as the lighting strikes once more, thunder deafening your ears. Clasping your hands over your head you jump from the bed, drawing the curtains together. Nerves alight, your mind took a brief reprieve from the storm to follow the events of the morrow. Well, meeting your suitors to be more specific. Your Father had been somewhat lenient the past few years, allowing you time to yourself, but over the course of the past few months, he had been oddly fervent when it came to your betrothal. Which meant the next morning you would be loaded into a carriage and shipped off to King’s Landing, something you very much did not look forward to. 

A sharp knock on the door jolted you from your thoughts, “My Lady?” a timid voice called out, another knock following. 

“Yes?” You responded, feet meeting the cool stone floor, hand fumbling with the door to open it. 

“Your Father has sent me to assure you are resting before your visit to King’s Landing,” she said her hands clasped behind her back, a tired look on her face.

“Yes, I am resting as well as I can, considering the circumstances,” you whisper the last part under your breath, head turned to the side hand on the door desperately wanting to slam it shut and throw yourself back into bed to get at least one hour of sleep before morning. 

“Well, rest well my Lady,” she says, turning on her heel and disappearing down the hall.

A sigh leaves your lips as you shut the door and plop back into bed, twisting your necklace in your fingers, the silver of Valyrian silver glints back at you as if mocking you. Tossing it to the side you throw the covers over your head and pray for the storm to worsen.

A sharp knock awakens you from your deep slumber, slowly pushing back your blanket you walk to the door, rubbing your eyes, “Come in!”

“My Lady, I’m here to help you pack your things and get ready for the day,” a woman says a small smile spread on her mouth. 

“Thank you,” you reply as you turn to grab a trunk for your dresses and shoes. 

“You have a big day ahead of you my Lady, how are you feeling?” she asks, carefully sectioning your hair to start a braid. 

You ponder your response for a moment, this was it, the day you met your, many as your Father had said, suitors. Your feelings were certainly mixed, on the one hand, you were glad to finally be leaving Casterly Rock for the first time in over ten years, on the other hand, you were nervous, what if your suitors didn’t like you? What if they found you ugly or unappealing? What are they like? Do they prefer training with the blade or a book of prose? There were so many questions swirling about your brain you didn’t even notice your lady-in-waiting had begun to dress you. An elegant crimson gown with gold accents and a flowery brocade. A bit too much in your opinion, considering how long the carriage ride was to King’s Landing, but a first impression should be a good one you supposed. 

Another knock interrupted your thoughts, this time the culprit was none other than your older brother Jason. He chuckled at the look of annoyance spread across your face.

“Dear sister, it is nearly time to depart, are you ready to set off?” 

You huffed sliding on your matching slippers and marched past him, “Of course, I’m ready to leave, I’ll meet you at the carriage.”

He quickly followed after.

Your eyes nearly rolled out of their sockets as your Father explained for the thousandth time the appropriate greetings to the Princess Rhaenyra, the King, and the other members of the royal family currently in King’s Landing. 

Staring out the window you felt your mouth twist into a frown, “Father, enough of the etiquette of greetings, can you at least regale me with the names of my potential suitors?” You asked, annoyance filling your tone, eyes sending a glare to your older brother, who was certainly not helping. 

“Well, I thought it best to wait until we arrive in King’s Landing to give them a proper chance to introduce themselves to you,” he said opening up a scroll, effectively putting an end to the conversation. 

Resting your head in your hand your eyes followed along the road, the green trees flowing past, hoping that your first day back in King’s Landing wouldn’t be a total disaster.

The carriage comes to a halt, jolting you awake, the sun blinds you as you adjust your dress and hair, tucking your necklace out of view. Your brother nudges your shoulder and steps out of the carriage, you stand smoothing out your gown, and quickly take his hand, letting him help you out of the carriage. The sight of the palace and city guards welcomes you. You smile, it seems like much hasn’t changed in the last ten years. Your second oldest brother, now Master of Coin welcomes you, “Welcome to King’s Landing, sister,” he says leading you through the palace.

Your heart flutters so much in excitement and nervousness, you feel it might take flight as you turn the numerous corridors to be presented to the court. You come to a halt, just before the throneroom, hands nervously grabbing at your dress head held high, a horn sounds, and the nobles in the room turn their heads, their eyes all focused on you. Your nerves go straight to  your stomach and you think you might puke, but as your eyes scan the crowd, they land on a pair of familiar reassuring ones. A smile ghosts your lips as you step forward,  hands now limp by your side as the King welcomes you, your Father and brother.

The night goes on without any problems, your nerves still on high alert every time you introduce yourself or someone introduces themselves to you. Most of the people you do not recognize, only to remember once they give their name and a story from when you were children. A laugh escapes your throat at the retelling of one of those very tales when a throat clears behind you. Your hand quickly covers your mouth as you turn on your heel, eyes meeting with…
