I am very curious about the bingfan wips if you don't mind me asking about them :)
By all means—I love gushing about these two idiots with you (and now that the SVSSS muse has returned from its unauthorized vacay I think there might be more down the line 😉 ) So thanks @pr0cyon-lotor for getting this jump started again!
The Hungry Ghost cafe wip is a modern au where high schooler LBH gets a job at a sketchy rundown restaurant that he learns caters to hungry ghosts in an effort to keep them satiated and away from living humans. Unfortunately one of his coworkers is Ming Fan, who sometimes bullies him in school but now is horrified that LBH now has something over him. But they’re forced to work together and slowly start to rely on each other and see each other in a different light. The restaurant is owned by married JiuYuan (ofc 😝), (…there’s a betting pool among the employees that one of them is a ghost but no one’s sure who). It’s kind of a slice of life type fic which is prob why it’s so disjointed and nowhere near publishing lol, it’s mostly a fun thing to play around with.
As for the BingFan teen parents fic… Pretty much what it says on the tin! On a mission, Ming Fan and Luo Binghe get caught in a patch of Airplane’s ubiquitous fuck-or-die flowers and end up having weirdly cathartic hatesex. Unbeknownst to them, the flowers share a symbiotic relationship with a special vine that always grows with it, which they only find out about after they’ve recovered…
He was still groggy from the forced sleep that had dragged him down, and he wanted to scour himself clean from the evidence of their… mishap. He glanced to the side to see if Luo Binghe was of the same mind, but he realized his shidi was not lying next to him. Luo Binghe was a few feet away, crouched over a patch of flattened, stained flora. Ming Fan realized belatedly why it looked that way and turned his head so his hair could hide his burning face. But Luo Binghe wasn’t even looking at him. Instead, he was making a concerning stuttering sound. Alarm lanced through Ming Fan. “What’s wrong?” he blurted, scrambling to his feet and darting to Luo Binghe’s side. The plant his shidi was hunched over was more of a thick net of vines twisted into one larger stem. And there was something moving in the tangled nest at the heart. Ming again frowned, wondering if his talismans were still in his ruined robes. He opened his mouth to speak, but couldn’t. There was something… wrong. And then an infant’s cry shattered the pensive stillness. Ming Fan stared wide-eyed at the plant. “I recognize this vine,” Luo Binghe said slowly. “A couple who lived in the village I grew up in  were unable to have children.” Ming Fan was dreading where this was going. He flinched at another infantile cry and Luo Binghe began gingerly peeling the leaves away from the tangled nest of vines. “…They spent a night on the mountain and returned to the village the next morning with a baby of their own. Not one they had adopted or stolen, but their own flesh and blood. They said there was a plant that if two partners water it with their spend, it will grow a child.” Ming Fan pressed his eyes shut but that didn’t keep out the words. Fuck fuck fuck. Please let this plant be a man-eater that attracts prey with the sounds of a baby, he prayed. But the universe seemed to have it out for Ming Fan in particular, because Luo Binghe’s soft gasp was confirmation enough. Ming Fan’s eyes sprang open just in time for the last thin vine to be peeled away from the tiny, squirming body of a baby.
They bring it back to the sect and try to pass the baby off as an orphan to be raised by one of the other peaks but MQF recognizes a plant-baby when he sees one and gets excited about studying it (while also giving BingFan a crash course in parenting). SQQ is excited for a whole ‘nother reason: he’s shocked Ming Fan was the one to fall into that particular wife plot but is delighted to be a surrogate grandfather to the Protagonist’s first child, no matter how unorthodox.
They can’t live in the dorms with a baby so SQQ gives them an empty hallmaster’s house (marriages happen among disciples i.e. LBH/NYY in PIDW so it’s not that uncommon) Domesticity ensues.
Soon the entire sect knows Ming Fan and Luo Binghe had a child together despite them trying to keep it a secret and everyone the best congratulation gift is unsolicited advise from all Peaks.
It takes a sect to raise a child, and this one’s no different.

I know Brook says the whole "I will protect you even if it costs me my life" about both Usopp and Sanji (the crew in general, too, but at that moment only those two). But I think there is something so personal about that sacrifice being directly tied to Zeff actually doing that very same thing when Sanji was a kid.
Sanji is not used to love and care from older men or, well, men in general. The first (and probably only connection) he has with that is Zeff and he ends up relating that sacrifice to parenthood and what a dad should be. And then Brook-- A man older and wiser and someone who they've basically just met, decides to do it too. Not only with actions but verbally stating he will protect him risking his life.
I am just saying that one can't have too many father figures after the shit Sanji has been through, and while he is far from home and far from his real dad, I don't think viewing Brook as a parental figure or a safe place would be far from the truth or what Sanji needs. I actually do think it'd be great for him.

I know I've asked about First before, but how does he relate to Sky, exactly?
Well, in lu we don’t totally know yet, though I do have some guesses. More on that in a minute though.
First is Sky’s predecessor, according to the manga (which is questionably canon, but isnt everything in zelda?) at the back of the Hyrule Historia. He’s a good man, but is wrongfully imprisoned for several years before being freed, and is then chosen by Hylia to use the Master Sword to help defeat the demon armies currently trying to take over the land. Hylia rides a crimson loftwing, and it ends up choosing Link as it’s rider as well later on.
Link fights the demons, and ends up in a battle with a leader (its probably Demise, but it’s a bit unclear), and First is grievously injured. First ends up using the Master Sword to send his people up into the sky (this eventually becomes Skyloft) but is unable to join them because of how badly he’s injured, and finally succumbs to his wounds.
I’m mostly cutting out the bits with Hylia, but she does come here and says her whole plan of being a mortal so they can meet again in another life... which I have some lore issues with but you know. Questionably-canon manga. The story then goes to many years later with little sksw Link, who meets the same crimson loftwing First once rode, evident by the marks on its beak, and becomes its new rider.
...
So. The biggest connection between them, aside from the reincarnation thing (which I’m ignoring because Jojo said for lu, it’s not exactly reincarnation between the Links), seems to be the crimson loftwing. Who, in the manga anyways, is the exact same bird, ridden by both First and Sky.
Lu doesn’t seem to be going that exact direction though. Here’s my thoughts.
Remember the crimson loftwing? In the manga, it’s the same one between First and Sky, but in lu that isn’t the case. We see Sky cuddling with a baby Crimson in these doodles, so my guess is that the Crimson Sky has is actually a descendant of First’s.
My biggest proof for this? Well look at them next to each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notice something similar between them? Aside from the color and all that?
Tumblr media
CHECK IT OUT. MARKINGS.
The same beak markings, only fainter on Sky’s bird (which adds again to my theory of the birds being descended from each other theory).
It might just be a neat reference, but we all know how much thought Jojo puts into everything in this comic. And First, though he hasn’t been entirely confirmed to be in lu, has been hinted at more then once. (I actually have a post around somewhere that points out all the hints to him and how it’s likely he will be in lu).
But yeah, I think I got a little off track from your original question, sorry XD Hopefully this explained things!

Oh, First King you grump and unaware old fart. You have no idea how scary and cool you look to these kids <33
Notes n stuff below cut:
I get all the jokes about FK being a zombie and evil n stuff, but like, not really?? He's just the FIRST KING OF THE GLADE that's all. He's probably been unjustly necromanced into today's world when he was just chilling with being dead. He would be the last thing from evil. Maybe kinda rude to other species, but that's normal for older people.
Idk, I just want grandpas in the world who actually want to help care and raise the next generation (cuz peepaw Polokus is doing daedally-shit)
Since I'm self-indulgent and biased to my own ideas, I had this silly idea that when FK was resurrected, he and Markus (the name for the Grand Minumus always hanging with Rayman for me), got into some arguments about just general stuff regarding the Glade and it's management. It might've gotten violent, and this got FK banished to the Livid Dead for a couple years, hanging out in the upper levels with Romeo, Shadi, and Goth (kinda).
When Big Mama found him there, she quickly brought him back to the surface and showed the Fairy Council. Betilla is very conflicted about him being back (cuz daddy issues), but she makes a decree that nothing harmful shall be bestowed upon him. So, he can do whatever without being sent back down to the Livid Dead.
Now, onto the school-related parts:
FK has a had a liking for kids ever since he was known as Aurthr Grandur (shameless The Sacred Dream plug sorry-not-sorry). So, when he was allowed back into the royal ranks, he began basically being everyone's royal babysitter when he wasn't listening in on Fairy Council meetings. That's where someone proposed for him to be a teacher, to which he took up the offer.
History has a tendency to be kinda skewed in the Glade, often neglecting the stuff predating Rayman and the rise of the Limbless race along with every other group in the Glade. Stuff that FK went through first-hand. He was not really vibing with the lack of diversity in the schooling.
As the magic school's history teacher, he always makes an effort to share all kind of history, not just Rayman's. This consists of every kind of creature in the Glade and of course his own. He even talks about the fairies as "kids" on occasion too. He is very well-liked amongst his students of all ages. Also, he doesn't give homework and does live-acting demonstrations of certain events with crazy swordsmanship, so bonus points there.
Many adults were wary about what they thought to be a nightmare teaching their kids but grew to appreciate him more b/c of his old-school "fuck around and find out" methods of teaching and discipline. Kids got better when in his class, which was something not that seen prior to him.
And in the background, he tutors students that show an interest in hand-to-hand combat. He loves seeing younger people actually using sharp weapons and learning the powerful method of channeling magic. He's an actually good PE teacher, I always thought those weren't real
Here is his full drip:

#German memory culture is so fascinating#Also to some extent french#My mother often claimed that we had Jewish ancestry and that a great-grandmother of mine was Jewish#Turns out she'd based that on ''Women talking a weird language'' coming to visit her grandmother#anyway after a whole round of genealogical research we learned that i actually have an Austria-Hungarian great-great-great#grandfather#that is; my great-grandma was talking her mother's home language with cousins that were from three towns over#and they spoke very bad Serbo-Croatian amongst themselves and often just switched to french#but my mother constructed in her mind this whole thing about us being part Jewish and she used to be fascinated by#Woody Allen Roman Polanski Claude Lanzmann the Marx Brothers Jewish humor etc.....#(My mother also spent six months in Germany as a teen during student exchange. i blame them)#But yeah this idea that since i'm neurotic and i had a big nose i was somehow secretly Jewish was drilled into me#She also thought that since my grandpa is Andalusian he probably had some Sephardic blood#Which. What exactly is supposed to be meant here by blood ??? Völk ? Blut ? one-drop rule ??????????#anyway this brand of philosemitism is becoming more and more repulsive to me#Jews are not an enlightened scholar-priest-stand-up-comedian caste with magical blood. They're an imagined community#Same as every other nation; religion; family; culture. Like everybody else they are as good or bad or interesting as imagination allows#And if we have to do weird philo-ism of an outgroup devoid of content let us do what writers have done for 500 years and#Write about talking animals#I'd rather we all collectively hallucinate the houyhnhnms as the quirky fun minority rather than cast real people in that role#or the pigs Napoleon was part of or whatever

im curious to see how we'll see how we feel about takehiro and the others' new designs when they're fully revealed but it did get me thinking about how i would design his outfit. unfortunately i realized very quickly that i would just put him in my own fashion style: department-store-clearance-core
#art#traditional art#watercolour#fanart#virvox project#kurono takehiro#vocal synth#voicevox#no id rn because i havent figured out how to translate all this to alt text yet... gimme a bit to think on it orz#BUT yeah like. well im sure their new designs will be fine. but one thing that did stand out to me. is that i do not like muscle tees LOL#and i guess it snowballed. i like fitted tank tops. and loose 90s moe tank tops. but not muscle tanks. turtlenecks are fine.#but you know maybe my walmart clearance fashion sense works for him. i always liked that he kind of dresses like some fucking guy#like his blazer is pretty slick but the rest of him is just a guy in jeans and a t shirt. and i love that#like akashi dresses like my grandpa with better colour sense. kotarou dresses like a pokemon trainer? sourin has his like#traditional modern stylish thing going on. and the mysterious fur strip glued on the back <3 and aoyama dresses lowkey kinda hypebeast#streetwear esque. but takehiro? thats literally just some dude <3 <3 <3 i do worry his new design will make him tooo trendy looking#BUT im intrigued. i think they said they're hoping to do multiple designs by a bunch of people? which i hope they can#the original designs had a very. moe? appeal. a distinct sort of cuteness and squishiness without being toothrottingly so#that might be missing from some newer designs but if we have a whole variety we can have like#a zola project situation at least. like we have the stylistic amano art all the way to the v6 glossy designs#a whole variety would be nice. but i am worried about ryuuseis hair the most lowkey. what are we gonna do without his huge bizarre fauxhawk#BUT maybe i should throw my hat in the ring.... really push myself to make more fan designs and outfits for all these characters i like#maybe i'll be able to draw something thats not just zhers clearance clothes. maybe i'll step up to gap clearance clothes. even winners??

update: still in burnout/seasonal affective hell (and now i'm snowed in ✌️) BUT I have found out that I can watch various episodes of River Monsters, Mythbusters, and Kitchen Nightmares for free, completely legally (not sarcasm). so that's nice
#i'm trying to think of what other shows I loved growing up.#my mom let me watch house and scrubs with her sometimes. and i liked a lot of hgtv shows but they were all paywalled when I checked :(#i remember watching a lot of how it's made too.#omg and I had billy the exterminator MEMORIZED. he relocated so many venomous snakes and he's why I love them so much today.#not sure why my at-the-time devout catholic mother was letting me at 7 watch some punk pick up rattlesnakes but i love her for it.#tbh he's one of those people i have vowed to learn nothing about to preserve my childhood respect and reverence towards him.#it was GENUINELY a huge formative influence for me and I credit my love of reptiles to that show and random documentaries.#jgndkfjgndfkjg oh god also re: other shows- this one's maybe a little niche but my grandpa always had Hee-Haw reruns on when i visited.#does ANYONE here know what I'm talking about???? that variety show with the donkey in the intro?#i mean. I have *no* interest in rewatching that one ngl lmao.#there is no doubt in my mind that a country show from the 60s to the 90s aged weirdly. it's not on my to-watch list.#it was just familiar background noise to me as a kid but my grandpa lovedddd that show so much.#tbh i'm not sure what my granny watched when i was a kid but NOW she just watches golden girls and friends and rhett and link 😭#she loves good mythical morning. ''they're good southern boys'' she says. it's so fucking funny to me.#she loves these youtubers so much jkgndfkjgnfd#I should get her some gmm merch.
