Clockwork would openly admit that he couldn’t see Danny’s timelines. Not since the moment he stepped into that portal and became something more. A child of Infinity, of the very Realms itself. 

But he’ll also admit that it always meant that the child surprised him all the time. This just happened to be a startling surprise, and an admittedly amusing one, even if Danny was openly complaining about the situation. 

“It’s not fair! You have to be able to fix this, right? Right?!” the ghostling, quite literally now, practically yanked at his cloak. “Clockwork, I was going to graduate, I can’t be two! Please, you’re the master of Time, you can fix this right!?” 

No, no he could not, seeing as young Daniel was in fact, immune to timeline machinations, doubly so for his own. To the ghostling’s open distress, which he did his best to soothe. What he could do instead, was stop time in his home dimension, and instead let him age back up again. 

Which the young halfa wasn’t happy about, but it was the best thing they had, so Clockwork supposed he had a ghostling now. A tiny adorable ghostling who kept pouting each time his much younger body had any sort of effect on his behavior. 

He’d never exactly had a ghostling before, nevermind one who was part human, but he would admit he honestly was enjoying it. Most time was spent alone, something he hadn’t realized until Danny ended up crashing into his unlife. 

Honestly he would openly admit that he absolutely adored his little ghostling. Who was now around four, at least physically, and had gotten into the adorable habit of curling up in the pendulum in his chest. Which was honestly the safest spot in Long Now, he’d admit. 

The singular issue however, with this habit, was that when someone attempted to summon him, they got his ghostling as well. And well, normally he could very much control himself for these summonings that happened every few hundred or so years, but well. There was a reason why even the Observants had stopped popping in the moment they realized he had a ghostling. 

Nesting ghosts do not mess around should they feel one is messing with their very vulnerable child, and really it’s not his fault the mortal cultists woke up and startled Danny. Perhaps deleting them from the timeline was a bit too far, if the other mortals rapid paling was to go by, but oh well.

Around tumblr lately I’ve seen people with the opinion that not only are free roaming cats bad (correct) but also supervised cats in catios or on leashes (????). I assume it must stem from that “ecology of fear” post from a few months ago, but to me the sudden appearance of these kinds of posts just strikes me as odd. I’ve seen multiple posts like the below one in just this week.

If your cat is contained to your yard/catio/the sidewalk, then it still allows for predator-free safe places in your neighbourhood for wildlife, and creates predictability for them too. That’s one of the reasons why hiking trails ask people to stay on the trail— so you (and your dog, horse, cat, etc) can safely enjoy nature while still giving it space. It is possible to exist outdoors in natural spaces like that while maintaining wildlife comfort. If it wasn’t possible to do that, dog-friendly or (even just hiking trails in general, since humans are predators too) simply wouldn’t exist.

The problem with free roaming cats is that they break boundaries between human area (ie. trail, back porch) and wildlife area (foliage, etc) and there is nowhere the wildlife can go to exist that is safe from predators.

Idk, this is just my opinion but I just think there can be more nuance to the outdoor/free roaming cat issue than “never let your cat step outside under any circumstance”.

And there is the required reverse image of Odile arriving - she's had a LONG day (i.e. previous loop), and due to this it will take ten minutes before she even acknowledges the shallow grave Loop is laying in, as she was distracted complaining about what Siffrin just did to annoy her.

I'd say there's context for all of that, because like...there IS context? Here's the link to the series of fics that HAS that context even! But also...even with context...can't say that it's going to make any of this less weird.

Mostly Odile is looping because due to Loop's wish the universe got rewritten to make Siffrin's repression and emotional issues (the ones bad enough to get him stuck in a time loop in the game) 'someone else's' problem...or at least that's Loop's best theory atm!

Regardless, context or not, I'm quite happy with how the pics came out, and figured I might as well post them here too.

I think part of what makes the way Hosea talks about Bessie so compelling is because he doesn’t just dwell on the tragedy of her loss. Of course, Bessie’s death has changed him, and of course he still cannot rationalise any sort of fairness in how he has outlived her. He was “drunk for a year” following her death, he worries he will never see her again because she is in heaven and he won’t be following, but there’s more to it than that. It would be easy for Hosea’s mentions of his dead wife to remain fixated on her death, but they don’t. They played dominoes and she taught Arthur, they used to go through here all the time, he remembers her not only for the tragedy of her death, but the joy of her life. It’s what makes Bessie feel real, it’s what shows us how much Hosea still loves his wife, even years after her death. It’s the only avenue we have to learn about her, and even the little things Hosea tells us about her paint such a vivid picture. She is more than her death and he talks about her as such, and it’s the details beyond her death that add another layer to the love we already know they had from how powerfully Hosea expresses his grief. It’s all the little ways Hosea discusses Bessie that add so much to this relationship we never meet half of, and adding in the preservation of who Bessie Matthews was instead of just the sadness surrounding her death adds so much.

If you have friends or family in a different time zone than you, be mindful of the timezone difference if you send them messages or try to call them. When in doubt check the time for where they are, and if it's during a time they're usually sleeping or resting, maybe wait until it's a time where they're more likely to be awake (unless it's an emergency).

Although plenty of people get messages while they're sleeping and you might just expect that maybe they'll just reply to it when they wake up, some people are light sleepers and can still be woken up by their phone buzzing, especially if they're just falling asleep, or just falling back asleep after getting up to use the bathroom.

If you're worried you'll forget about the thing you wanted to message them about, write it down and/or set a reminder for yourself to send a message when they'll be awake.
