Do you have any fame aus or anything else that inspired you for the dear reader series?

no fame au's, unfortunately :( i am a BIG fan of fame au's, however, so i do have some recs! but the inspiration for dear reader was largely just me listening to my music and forming an au around it - one playlist turned into two, which turned into seven, which turned into 16, etc - and then i had a full au plot in my head😭

but for recs!! i bookmark pretty much every fame au i read just because i love them so much. they're definitely my niche i just cannot stop putting these people on red carpets - and it's always been this waySDKJF

you'd be paranoid too (if everyone was out to get you) by harrowhark is a catradora fame au (popstar!catra) and it was one of the first fics i ever read on ao3 and literally changed my brain chemistry. now this was like 3-4 years ago, so it's been a while since i've read it, even though when i was in my shera hyperfixation i re-read it like six times i think - if you ARE a shera fan, i would 100% recommend this one, i still remember how incredible it was! did it inspire the dear reader-verse specifically? no, they're very different in terms of plot/characters, but i feel like if i'm talking about fics that inspired me this one's essential😭

everyone wake up new jinx album just dropped by Drindrak is similar to the first one in that it is a fame au that just made me love the trope so much, even though it is much more crack than angst, unlike you'd be paranoid😭it's an arcane fic where jinx... becomes a popstar? except it's like, set in runeterra and vi is still in jail and all of that. like. I DONT KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN HOW MUCH I FUCKING LOVE ITSKDF i swear i just love a good crack fic every now and then, and this did it WITH fame?? i love. and so yeah, looking back on it, i actually do think it inspired dear reader a bit in the way that jinx was absolutely chaotic (will i ever stop on the jinx nico parallels? i wrote a goddamn solangelo timebomb au already but i'm still going to be pointing it out)

he was seen on occasion (pacing the rocks, staring out at the midnight sea) by stargirltv is a solangelo fame au!! and i know that i already rec'd it. but like. you have to know how much i LOVE this fic and though, once again, the plots are pretty different - but also similar in the sense of the character dynamics! so yeah tbh i'd say i probably did, unintentionally, take a lot of inspo from this, just because i do love it so much, and it was one of the only fame au's for solangelo that i had read (i've read much more now, ofc, seeing as i stalk the fame and social media tags like a hawk)

and then the last thing i feel like i have to mention when talking about the inspiration for this fic is the book, red white and royal blue. i think i mentioned in the first chapter of talk your talk's end note that this entire au?? started off as a rwrb crossover in my head. nico's age was calculated with alex's in mind. will going to college at nyu was because i originally planned for alex and him to idk meet at a class or smth. cecil was originally a law student (another ironic thing for a child of hermes, and yet i ended up making him work towards cyber security lmfao) just so he could somehow become friends with alex. i was fully emerged in this universe where somehow these friend groups collided, and i fully orchestrated nico as a popstar just so that they'd have double the fandoms to go crazy about it. so does it really have to do anything with rwrb in terms of plot?? no, but alex and henry are entirely to thank for this!!!😭

i know that i kind of took a bit of a strange route for a popstar au in talk your talk so it doesn't really match the usual trope? like person is already famous -> meets someone, either famous or not -> fight to get together bc of the press -> some sort of leaked photo of them -> they choose each other in the end. and dont get me wrong, i will eat up that trope any day, but i do really like what i did with talk your talk! i love any form of fame au, and so it's always just fun to see different spins on the common tropes :)

oh Positivity, yes. uuuhhhh im kind of bad at bookmarking things ngl but i will share A Few. all vashwood bc that's my shit & all

i feel like everyone knows about Figure Me Out but it was one of the first fics i read in this fandom & honestly tangentially inspiration for writing Sentido (that whole tangible inhumanity kind of idea). i should reread it sometime. im very behind on the sequel but im thinking about working on reading it so i can have smth that has good characterization. genuinely some of the best vash characterization ive seen. Sooooooooooo good

theres kinder, gentler WHICH i actually was absolutely ABSOLUTELY obsessed with a giant haikyuu fic this person wrote back in the day, so seeing them get into trigun was an Absolute gift for me. one of the best trigun longfic there are imo with fun characterizations & WONDERFUL writing. one of my favorite instances of Knives Domestication too, aka he's still very thorny and does not like humans but he is Making An Effort (after centuries and centuries of work). this fic rly embodies the spirit of trigun to me tbh, if it was something... well... kinder and gentler. very silly and very sad at times, but also hopeful. what a fic <3

i was very very very obsessed with Trillium and Ivy. read the entire thing in one day. & honestly shoutout to them for writing such a long fic back b4 the trigun renaissance. Dedication. it's been a bit since ive read it but i remember really enjoying how they wrote Vash's disability in a modern setting. not just handwaving away the prosthetic as some super high-tech thing. and also addressing the utter horror that his recovery from such a serious accident wouldve been. honestly i might reread it sometime, ive forgotten a lot of it and it was SO fucking good. genuinely i was obsessed. highly recommend it.

✨ Spooky Recs✨

I read a lot of fanfictions... More than I am proud of. I thought I should recommend as I go before I lose sight of their existence among the sea of my favorites.

Since past few days I have been craving for some creepy, unnerving fanfics that will keep me restless and awake at night. I remembered my favorites and wanted to read more of the kind so I looked up, patiently going through each story that sounded compelling. I also revisited old stories for nostalgia's sake.

Of course, rare as they are, in Naruto fandom no less, it's even harder to find a horror and mystery fic that is well written, not dropped under 2 chapters, and really keeps your attention.

But even the most powerful team of shinobi will find themselves challenged in a battle against the supernatural. With Sasuke's return, vengeful ghosts of the past will test him and his love.

My thoughts : One of the best stories I've read in a while, and top tier SS stories. I read this in one sitting. I never listen to music while reading, preferring silence, but for this one, I suggest you do as the author says. Also, keep some tissues and food with you. This story is major in mystery and minor in horror but otherwise full of SS fluff.

“Oh,” says Naruto, “well, its sort of like that. Except in this village, the story has a way more darker ending – it basically goes like this: the girl and the guy plan to run away together. The guy steals a bunch of treasure, and stashes it away. But then, when he goes to get the girl at her village, he kills her and decides to run away with all that money. But then he is killed by the guards of the girls village and now they're both dead and the treasure is hidden away somewhere”. Sasuke stares blankly at the blond, “that story makes no sense”.

My thoughts : I know you must be thinking the same thing as Sasuke – "makes no sense". I did too, but it's a pretty cool short story. It lies on the funny, creepy side that slowly starts to lose its funny touch. SS makes stupid mistakes later on but it could be because they are MCs. The ending is very ambiguous. It's not my favorite mystery but it is something. Enjoyable read but not something I will pick again.

Kakashi is suspicious of many things about Haruno Sakura. Too many things about her don't make sense, with too many incongruous explanations.

My thoughts : Author of this story just summarised Pre-Shippuden in less than 4k words and made some tiny changes to it. Not much though. One of my favorite gen fics yet. Read it if you haven't yet. You'll feel more sad than thrilled tbh. But worth it.

Their home no longer exists with the life it once had – in fact no settlement thrives anymore; they exist only in a snapshot that contradicts time itself. Families within their own homes sleep in a slumber that they cannot wake from. Those that were chatting on the street prior to the event simply drop their heads and remain unresponsive.

My thoughts : I picked it up for Mystery but I stayed for Comedy. But of course that's not to say supernatural elements in this story is not it, but it sure pales in comparison to effortless humor in this story. Lee and Kiba pair is something you don't see often but they get along too well here. Charactisation is on point as well. SS angst! + NS angst (but it's downplayed)

My thoughts : My all-time favourite horror Naruto fanfiction. To me, this sets the standard of how mystery and horror elements should be handled. I have never been able to get this story out of my mind even it's been years. Perfect charactisation of Team 7 with Smart-yet-Stupid!Sakura, I-can-fight-aliens-and-reanimated-corpses-but-keep-ghosts-away-from-me!Naruto and I-dont-get-paid-enough-for-this!Sasuke. I especially love OCs here. They kinda reminds me of Pillars from KnY. You must read this story, loosely based on Zombie apocalypse + curse concept.

A bit of the Silent Hill series mixed in with Naruto. Trapped in an illusion whose rules are unknown, they struggle to find answers before darkness consumes them.

My thoughts : One of the best mystery fanfictions I've read. I especially loved how this story handled Genjutsu in the best possible way it could without it turning into some cliche, ghost story. Though really, this story has shown what my greatest fear actually is. I will never be able to leave my back open to a wheelchair. This story has simple writing yet it gives you creeps with the twists and turns. A must read one because it is unlike any other in this list.

When Naruto wakes up to a dead body in his bathroom, he begins a quick spiral into madness.

My thoughts : Listen to Halsey's Control while reading this. Quite chilling, deals with mental issues and morbid but in a fascinating way. It gives a new meaning to Dark!Naruto, but one that actually makes sense. I never saw the ending coming... I had something else in mind and I was convinced it would be, but nope. Here's a sequel to this One-Shot (Uzumaki's War) which I never picked up.

My thoughts : A very twisted NS, if you squint. It's not horror but it might as well be... it is still a disturbing story to see from the eyes of Sakura. Quite chilling to be in Sakura's shoes. But I love this because it is one shot and I loved the ending.

My thoughts : I read this story a long time ago and have read this twice. Personally, it has the most interesting concept of all stories in the list. It reminds me of Vocaloid series, "Bookmark of the end". Kind of. To those who are thinking of picking this up, go ahead! It's a great book and has one of the best suspense I've read in Fandom. BUT, it has been stopped in mother-of-all-cliffhangers and Author is MIA for 4 years now. But, all things considered, it remains to be one of the best stories I've read.

My thoughts : I read this story right after "The Curse", my favourite. From what I remember, Sakura and Sasuke are both mentally deranged, in different ways. Lots of death and gore to stomach, so not for weak readers. There's no speak of fluff in this one. Zero, Zilch, Nada. I wouldn't call it your classic 'Horror', but it is very disturbing, so psychological horror is more like it. Don't eat food while reading this one. Did I mention how Sakura is mentally disturbed beyond help in this one? And Sasuke is obsessed. If these suit your tastes, go ahead.

not enough fluff - even though this book is like eating cotton candy. but tbh there should’ve been more making out (just one more make out scene, margaret rogerson, please........do it for the serotonin)

Summary: A portrait artist who lives in a small town called Whimsy gets commissioned by a faerie prince of the autumn court to paint his likeness. As is inevitable in all stories involving customer service, he gets mad at her for some misunderstanding that wasn’t her fault in the first place, and takes her away to the fairylands to stand trial for her despicable art crimes.

Concept: 💭💭💭💭💭

The cover looked gorgeous, so I was gonna pick it up eventually, but then I heard it was supposed to be pure tooth-rotting fluff so I bumped it up on my ‘to-read’ list. You can never read too much fluff! Plus I’d read the excerpt while browsing books, and the writing style was so atmospheric and beautiful and melodic....not too flowery, until I didn’t know my ass from my elbow, but not blunt either. It’s not often I find a writing style that makes me sit up and take notice. And I’m always game for more takes on fae lore.

Execution: 💥💥💥💥💥

What a good take on fae lore it turned out to be! It felt like reading a cute fanfiction about characters I already knew. Usually romance books aren’t the best time for me, because I’m so picky about the characters and their chemistry together - but this managed to be just the right sort of whimsical and sweet and humanizing to make it work. I also loved how you had to put a lot of things together on your own - the first-person narrative was used to great effect, because what details the protagonist could pick up were left to her - and the reader - to figure out. I like books that don’t hold your hand about worldbuilding - it gives you room to make your own interpretations.

Personal Enjoyment: ❤❤❤❤❤

Ironically, when I love a book, I deliberately take longer to finish. I backtrack from where I stopped last, mutter lines to myself out loud to hear the tonal inflection, stop to walk around the house with a dumb smile on my face - this book only had 300+ pages, and should’ve been easy to finish in a few hours; I dragged it out over two days. I think I restarted a chapter like 5 times because I wanted to read the whole scene again. The story’s not grand, but what it had to say resonated with me. So much of media nowadays is obsessed with ‘bittersweet endings���, with consequences and sacrifice - sometimes it’s okay to have a story where good things happen to good people, because they refuse to settle for anything less.

Fave Moment: So many.....every time Rook was embarrassed, I bookmarked the page 😂😂 we love seeing a hot guy drink his humility juice. The top contender here is probably the scene when he first appears to Isobel after the painting was sent to Autumn Court, furious and scared and determined to make her stand trial for her Emotion Crimes (she made me feel a feeling! I don’t like it make it stop!! I am a prince!!!), up to the part they escape the Winter Hunt - everything Isobel did to escape was so quick and clever, my girl had all the braincells working overtime

Fave Character: Isobel is far-and-away the best character, but because we’re not being objective here, Rook takes the top spot. His utter lack of understanding for a lot some of Isobel’s actions, especially when she shows emotion, didn’t mean he couldn’t still be romantic as hell - like when he took her to the Green Well, she said ‘that’s not going to work for me, i could never give up painting’, and he went ‘oh, okay. i won’t bring it up again’. He clearly didn’t understand her reasoning!! but he honoured her wishes anyway. I also liked that Rook only had one previous brush with romance, and the girl rejected him. Generally male love interests are more #experienced, with girls all over them, but Rook? Rook fell in love once and got his ass cancelled all the way back to the autumn court. His vulnerabilities made sense to me, and that’s rare for a YA male love interest.

Yes he is everything! such a great, interesting character and i wish there were more John-centric episodes! (like ones that explored his character more). that was one of my biggest dislikes of the later seasons that John wasnt featured as much anymore. i think he chuckled a few times in the show but a real laugh? i cant remember one :(  -- He did promise Joss to talk to Tyler so @show were is that talk? -- if seen the vid its awesome! thehiddenmemory has some great poi vids! The portrayal of suicide is cringe most of the time anyway. If my suicidal ass can find a list of suicide methods and their lethality in 2 mins on Google you'd think writers who are supposed to do some research would be able to find them too but no they're like "ah yes slicing wrists" even though it's literally the shittiest method 🙄 (I just don't understand why slicing wrists seems to be such a popular method in the collective imagination ? It's weird.) At least in 13rw she took aspirin and cut herself vertically instead of horizontally but still, no hesitation wounds, and she dies even though she only got 4 wounds iirc ? I know more about jumping off bridges than slicing wrists, but it kinda sounds like bullshit to me. Also Netflix once suggested "beyond the reasons" to me, it's a sort of discussion with the cast and crew of 13rw and the only thing I remember is a moment of intellectual masturbation abt how they "opened a discussion abt suicide" 😬😬😬

They may have cut it out it's not impossible, idk I didn't hear about it, but it's not like I look for info about this dumpster fire lol. Maybe they faced backlash ? Wouldn't be surprised given how shit the show was. And yeah it has a hopeless vibe, I mean that's how it be when you're suicidal, but I didn't like it either.

You're sweet 💜💜 it's interesting that you find it respectable or admirable, I don't have an external point of view, so I'm just like 🤷 it is what it is. I understand where you're coming from though, I guess it's still quite a taboo subject, and suicidal people don't always feel comfortable talking about it, so me throwing around that I jumped off a bridge must be surprising. I'm detached enough from my suicide attempt that I'm able to talk about it without much of a problem, and I'm not really suicidal anymore.

Harold is eating breakfast with Grace in her kitchen – he can't think of her home as his home – when his phone vibrates. It's a text from the machine. It's a surprise, she barely contacted him since... He blocks the thoughts and the images coming to his mind. The machine sent him a picture. When he opens it, his heart misses a beat. Right here on his screen is a silhouette he thought he would never see again. His phone vibrates again. Another picture, this time it's unmistakably John, wearing his signature suit, Bear next to him. Transfixed, he stares at his phone until he feels Grace gently touching his arm. She goes straight to the point.

"Is it John ?" He looks up in confusion, but before he can say anything, she adds, "I hear you call him in your sleep every night."

"It's him, yes." He doesn't want to explain. He only wants to see John, to touch him, to tell him how much he loves him.

"You should go back to him. I like you, Harold. I am deeply relieved to see you alive. But I've been thinking, and... It's not working. This, us... You aren't really the man I fell in love with, the man I grieved... I can't trust you anymore." She doesn't say 'You lied to me' but Harold hears it all the same.

Harold sits on their bench. The machine indicated John often comes here. Soon enough, his arms are full of Bear, and John is standing in front of him.

"John. How are you ?" he asks when Bear finally calms down.

"Busy. And you ?"

Harold eyes him suspiciously – John once said he was busy when he was bleeding and way too close to death – but he seems to be well.

"I'm fine." He doesn't have time for awkward small talk." I thought you were dead. Why didn't you contact me ?"

"The machine told me you were with Grace. I thought you wanted to come back to your previous life. I didn't want to crash into it and ruin what you had."

Harold wants to be angry at him, but he understands. He did the same with Grace.

"You would never ruin anything. Besides, my relationship with Grace... didn't survive my lies. She's very dear to my heart, but she's a part of my previous life, as you said."

"So you came back for the machine, and the numbers, like the good old times ?"

Harold gets up from the bench.

"I came back for you. You are an important part of my life. The most important part."

John smiles, finally. He takes a step towards Harold, they're so close they could kiss. Harold reaches out, grips his shirt and slowly inches closer. He's still afraid of being rejected but John wraps his arm around him and kisses him. The kiss is over too soon. John's smile is even wider when they part.

"You're the most important part of my life too," he says before kissing Harold again. "You will stay ?"

"Always."

This is my fave tdbk fic ever (or at least one of my faves), but it’s. Really angsty so, please read the tags and maybe read it when you’re on a better mindset. The author also has another tdbk fic with villain Baku (which is not on my fave tropes tbh but I absolutely loved this one).

This gem. Manga verse and it’s aksjdajdkasdlsjd amazing. Definitely in my faves.

Fandoms: according to my ao3 profile, i wrote for death note (1 published fic), hetalia (3 published fics) and my candy love (8 published fics). but all the fandoms i have written for that i have not posted there? oh boy. so there’s the arcana, voltron (wrote half of a fic back in 2017 and then never touched it again), wrote some kind of thing (?) while i read PJO for the first time, i have one black butler series that is uh. buried somewhere on ff.net (about the reaper’s death if i remember correctly. also was probably on crack in the summer of 2017 and wrote the plan of a modern au fic in whihc alois owned a tarantula). if we go back to high school i have written for naruto and also the rotbtd fandom. oh god i wrote A LOT for that crossover. still have some kind of fic planned (that i named the stay dead au) that i kinda want to write. i think that covers all of it? OH I FORGOT THE MOST ABSURD ONE: i have started writing a fic for Dramatical Murder recently. i got into that game in 2014, played it for the first time in 2017, then forgot it existed until a month ago

Number of fics: officially i have 6 finished one shots, one on going drabble collection, one abandonned fic (rip seen 2:18 am u will be missed), one semi-abandonned fic, and one finished fic on ao3. on the amour sucré forum i have an abandonned fic (rip again to seen), an on going fic called “12 things alexy hates” REALLY want to continue this one, one finished fic and a one shot collection. i dont know how many wips i have sitting in my google doc. 

Fic I spent the most time on: SEEN: 2:18 AM. i unfortunately have abandonned it by now, but on god i spent maybe from july 2017 to early 2018 entirely focused on planning that fic, and it still is the longest time i’ve spent having my attention on one project.

Fic I spent the least time on: this death note short (the only one on my ao3 lmao). i wrote it in under an hour at like 1 am because i couldn’t get the scene out of my head, the night before a deadline for one of my art history essay i was trying to finish 

Longest fic: for my published fic it’s the meme that is this group chat fic. but outside of that, it’s probably SEEN. the draft for it is 11 000 words and the doc is 33 pages long. maybe i’ll sort through it one day but my writing has changed a lot so its likely those 33 pages wont be published, rip again to this fic

Shortest fic:  fever dream, an armin/nathaniel fic i wrote while i was sick

Favorite fic I wrote:  definitely the drabble series about the twins “the things that follows”. i wrote most of these while i was in therapy, and untangling some stuff about myself, in spring 2018. i was in a pretty good place i think at that time, and that’s why i still love this series a lot.

Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: i’m contemplating continuing the group chat fic, and maybe one day if i find the energy to comb through and rewrite SEEN, i’d really like for that to happen. there’s also a short drabble about armin getting stuck in a time loop i posted on my tumblr that i want to expand onto a full fic (which the working title rn is “purgatorio”)

Share a bit of a WIP or a story idea you’re planning on: my current and most recent wips include; the dmmd fic series, a series of mcl OS inspired by the magnus archive universe and the slow building of a UL rewrite with my OC charlie the national fuck up. so here’s some of those;

Sei does not know for how long he has been cut off from his own mind and stuck in his body, unable to go away like he used to do so when the world was too harsh and too real for him, but also unable to completely shut off his mind, like he had wanted. An unknown amount of time passes; he feels himself trying to reach for the outside, for the bits of himself outside of his mind and it seems like there is nothing outside.

Hey so, I’m making this post mostly for readers of Kismet or Ladylionhart. I knew both her and her story had a pretty hefty following, and despite it not being updated I know as a fic reader myself, I would be wondering what happened if I went looking.  SO! I got a tumblr message a few days ago saying that LadyLionhart’s reylo story “Kismet” was plagiarizing my solavellan story “Message Sent.”  It’s not the first time I’ve been linked stories claiming this. Message Sent is a Wrong Number texting slow burn. And those are way more common than you’d think. Anyway, I investigated, and this time it was pretty damning.  Feeling sorta deflated and honestly just… tired, at seeing the amount of praise in the amount of it clearly ‘heavily inspired’ if not just straight lifted, I didn’t take any screenshots or comparisons. Im not the kind of person to make call out posts. So I messaged Ladylionhart on tumblr, before even deciding to make a report or a post… or whatever. I was also worried maybe I myself was being paranoid about the similarities.  In the morning I got the above messages, and no opportunity to respond, because her entire ao3 account, the story, and her tumblr were all deleted.  So that’s that I guess. Sorry to the readers of Kismet. That sucks. I know it was well loved. Sorry I had to be the one to pull the plug on it.  As I said, I didn’t take any comparison screenshots. I didn’t think it was gonna be straight deleted. But here is my list of notes from what I found similar in the stories, so hopefully it doesnt seem I inadvertantly got it deleted just cause it was a text/wrong number fic.  And if you have read Kismet and want to compare yourself, here is my story Message Sent published in march, 2015  (TFA/reylo came out dec, 2015 and Kismet, from what I remember, was published early 2017) -wrong number au, texting based romance -Professor and younger romance interest, age gap -she calls him professor, he calls her troublemaker  -the first message is about a book, and a misidentify as the professors assistant -Her name is stated, His name is a pseudonym -his texting is super formal, hers is young and casual -scene where he texts her during a meeting  -scene where he shoes her his view from a balcony -scene where she mentions a bakery and he visits  -he leaves her a gift, visit a bookstore -scene where they go to the same party and pass by each other but dont notice -scenes where he shows her pictures of his apartment -text convos about how theyd rather be with each other (flirty pre-sexts) during the party they are at together but dont know it -text convos of her being a roomate/living alone, convos where she trie sto guess his taught subject -She loves his hands/picture of hands not face, he did not mean to take picture of his hands -guided masturbation scene  -scene where he leaves the dinner table because of sexts

Whole text conversations seem lifted straight out of my own fic at times. Which is a little strange to read, since me and my bf roleplayed the texts in my fic. (Reading my boyfriends texts in someone elses fic, even with a slight word or lore change, is just really weird. Sorry im not trying to make this personal, it just happens to be) Kylo/Ben seems to talk a ton like Solas, in tone, cadence, formality. Etc. She also seemed to go on hiatus right before they were to meet and I went on hiatus right after I wrote them meeting. That one could be a coincidence but ehhh I dunno. Maybe she ran out of ideas. 

As far as what my response would have been? I dont know. A simple dedication page would imply I consented and I really… didn’t and I dunno that I would have. I honestly dunno what my response would have been tbh. I’m still unsure. Lots of the lore and surrounding events were changed and word choices were, if not the topics. And I feel for her readers.  But did Kylo have to be a professor? Did they have to visit a bakery/coffeshop/bookstore? Does he have to also show her a picture of his balcony? You can tell this exact same story without these exact details I think. I don’t think I would have cared or messaged her if it was a wrong number and Kylo was a tattoo artist and Rey was a thief who’d stolen the phone, or something.  Anyway, Sorry to all the Kismet readers. Sorry, she decided to delete all her works and account, and not just this story. Hope that clears it up in case you go back to your favorite bookmark and get a 404. :/

i'm not trying to clown you or anything, but i'm just genuinely curious as to why you bias sunwoo now? like what do you love about him and all? if i'm not mistaken, you used to be hyunjoon-biased correct?

and yes! you are correct :’) i used to be very hyunjoon biased! but if i were to make a comparison,,, hyunjoon was really just a crush but sunoo is the one i really fell for. anyways gush under cut cuz i doubt anyone cares

so if i have to be honest, i “fall in love at first sight” w groups. usually the person i notice first becomes my bias. theres always one defining feature i usually fall in love with. so usually i tend to bias dancers (ex. ten, taemin, chaeyeon, wooyoung, san, etc etc) but with tbz i had exposure to them since boy and had been following their music since debut, but not the group. 

Not until no air dropped did i really begin to fall in love w them. I had a lot of trouble picking a bias w tbz, which is very rare for me but i also think its because i had a ton of exposure to them before. in the boy mv i think the ones that stood out to me were sunwoo hyunjoon and jacob. In giddy up i considered joining the fandom (bc legendary song omg) and the ones that stood out in that mv were sunwoo chanhee and changmin. unluckily for me, i didnt end up getting into the fandom until no air dropped and i spent over a week picking a bias between hyunjoon, sunwoo, changmin, and kevin (as u can see its not that surprising i fell for sunwoo lol,,, it was just a matter of time) anyways, it was a long week but hyunjoons smile really just,,,,,, sold me

like cmon are you kidding me look at that he has the prettiest smile on earth and i still stand by that opinion. and after really investing myself in tbz, i found myself loving his unique dance style. the way he presents himself is so genuine and different from what i usually prefer in dancers. My favorite dancer is by far Ten and my brain auto compares dancers to him but with hyunjoon,,, the style was just so different that it was impossible to compare the two. So yeah I still love hyunjoon a lot! its just,,,, i love sunoo more

tbh i have no idea when i started falling so hard for kim sunwoo. it really just came gradually,,, and thats super strange for my “love at first sight” aries venus :’) though i dont remember exactly what moment made me start swerving, i know his lyrics and rap style played a big part in me becoming the biggest sunoonator on this earth. His first verse in 4EVER is by far the best thing i have ever heard (and in an interview he also said those lines were some of his favorite lyrics hes written!!!

another thing that really swayed me was the bday prank. that clip made me pay so much more attention to him when before i was one track minded on hyunjoon. but seeing him just break down when he realized those he loved weren’t actually fighting showed me how genuine he was. by paying more attention to him, i really just,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, swooned for that dorky smile of his (example below bc i want to c’:)

and his overall quirkiness.

something ive also been loving and noticing recently is his absolute hatred for skinny jeans LOL and same. I literally wear joggers every single day bc i cant be bothered. Sunwoos fashion looks so comfortable and he pulls it off so well! its something i can appreciate and love

and the final thing. this is probably the biggest reason i absolutely love love love him! its the way he interacts and treats his fans. idk if you follow the fancafe but sunwoo updates the most out of all of the members. He basically writes in the fancafe every single day, even if its as simple as “deobis what are you doing?” and no matter what, hes always talking about deobis in his updates and almost always reminds us that he loves us! theres one fancafe letter he wrote that i have bookmarked and saved and its the one where he literally starts off by saying that hes awake at 5:20 am (iirc this was after TFMAs where they won the next leader award) bc he cant sleep and he just pours out his late night (or in this case early morning lol) thoughts and its just him talking about his career and how he is so honored to be able to perform on the same stage as his seniors. he also talks about how he is so grateful to deobis and begins explaining his thoughts about the relationship between artists and their fans and how beautiful he finds this relationship. and he continues to describe what kind of singer he wants to be: a loveable singer who can cheer others up. he said that deobis are the ones who helped him become the person he is today and how he always will be sincere to deobis that cheer for him :’(( this is a super dumbed down ver of his letter bc my korean isnt extremely good but he basically ends by saying he’ll continue to improve for deobis and that he really loves us :( this letter was then posted around an hour later at around 6 am :( so he basically spent an hour writing a letter to deobis at the crack of dawn just bc he wanted to tell us his thoughts,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, i rly,,,,,,,, im so sad hes the sweetest :(

a quick guide to finding idol producer / qcyn merch in taipei

yesterday i went on an adventure in ximen to find merch! (mostly with the slight hope of finding nine percent stuff, since i was so sure that no other groups would be nearly popular enough, but i was pleasantly surprised!) here’s a quick rundown of my experience, in case anyone else is also interested in purchasing cpop (or kpop) merch in ximen :) 

first, as suggested by my partner in crime @tanqram​, i googled “台北偶像專賣店” (taipei idol merchandise store) and “台北偶像專賣店 nine percent” to get info on where to look and addresses for possible stores! one of the most helpful answers I found was: here and basically it lists the addresses of a bunch of stores and also says at the end that the stores in ximen often change, so they may not all exist anymore

with that in mind, i mapped out a route to the stores i wanted to check out, and luckily they’re all within like a 5 min walk of each other bc theyre all in ximending :) honestly i couldnt find a couple of them, so they may not exist, like that post said, or maybe im just blind HAHAHA i did end up looking through a couple of stores and was able to find ip / qcyn merch in 2 of them. 

1. 偶像王 (Idol King) [address: 台北市漢中街50巷7號2樓, Taipei, Taiwan 108] would recommend!! this was the first one i came across out of the 2, and there was a lottt of kpop and cpop merch. photocards, mugs, pillows, bookmarks, wall scrolls, etc. there was a lot of nine percent, but also a good amount of unine and oner. they also had deng chaoyuan and yao chi stuff. i also saw some nex7 posters. i dont remember seeing anyone else from ip/qcyn. bc i saw jia yi (along with a lot of guan yue!? hahhahha) i asked the lady who was running the store if they had any mr.tyger merch. she said no, only the ones who made it (aka unine) (even tho there was some dcy / yao chi stuff LOL), but she offered to print me custom merch. customs posters (about 1 x 1.5ft) i believe were <$3 usd, (which was like double the cost of the preprinted posters) and she also mentioned she could print photocards, but i would have to buy them in a pack of 10 (im assuming they print out that way) 

i ended up buying some stickers (<$2 usd) and posters and then asked her to print me 2 tyger posters, for which i sent her links to the photos via line message and she printed them out for me in like 5 mins. she was super nice!!! and yea dont expect like the highest quality photos and stuff bc this is obviously all fan-made merch but it was super cheap and i was just so amazed there was actually ip/qcyn stuff among all the kpop merch!!  

2.  烏龍院藝術館 [address: 台北市武昌街二段61號2樓] there was mostly just nine percent merch here! two of the nongnong posters in the above photos were from this store. it felt like there was less stuff at this store, but they had a different variety of merch, like there was a nine percent backpack and they had various nine percent members’ necklaces (which I actually considered getting LOL) and keychains, bookmarks, desk calendars, photobooks, etc. along with the usual photocards, wall scrolls, etc. 

i did not see merch for any other ip / qcyn kids, except (!!) there was a poster pack of qcyn kids from the first stage performances, so like there was a poster of each of the winning teams that got to perform on stage aka namanana team a, tarzan next door team a, etc. i almost gave in to the urge to buy this bc namanana linmo is iconic to me, but then i realized that each poster only included like 3-4 of the kids on each team and the rest were cropped out LOL so like zhuo yuan was missing from the namanana poster and the retreat poster literally only had shi zhan, li zhenning and sun zelin LOL. so.... since zhan yu, akey, and jin fan weren’t included and ye ziming also wasn’t (since he was on tarzan team b) i was like... am i really gonna spend $4 just so i can have a namanana linmo poster? HAHAHAH since the namanana one was the only one that really appealed to me, i thought about buying the pack and then just giving away the rest of the posters, but idk if anyone would want them??? if you’re interested / would be willing to pay for shipping, i could go back and buy it, like i said, its literally only the winning teams, and then probably the 4 most popular kids in each group that are included in the photo. for example, the tarzan team a poster was wenhan, guan yue, jia yi and hu chunyang only. 

also, if anyone wants 2 nongnong posters (and maybe also 1 of the yanjun ones), im willing to give those away too LOL they were super cheap and i realized i probably dont need 4 HAHAHHA 

others: there are a bunch of 五大唱片 (Five Music) stores all around, and they have kpop / cpop posters and cds, but i didnt see any related to ip or qcyn. 韓利塢 (hlwcorea) [address: 萬華區西寧南路 169 號 4F, Taipei, Taiwan 108] only had kpop merch and it was easy to miss, but it was there!

yea so basically the most important things i got out of this experience were that you can find nine percent merch in stores, mostly cxk, cln, fcc, justin, zzt merch was available, i found some random wzy, xg and yzj stuff and was surprised there wasnt more lyj. it is also possible to customize your own merch, so if you like a less popular group, there are still options. 

tbh if you really want anything that ive mentioned in this post, let me know within the next few weeks and i could go back and buy it and ship it to you, but ill just ask you to pay for shipping :) 

im considering going back to print out a solo linmo poster anyway, so i dont mind! (if anyone has smiley linmo photos to suggest to use for a poster, let me know!!!) oh and just for reference, i bought all of this merch for a total of maybe $16 usd, so tbh i thought it was a good deal! esp bc i got nongnong and tyger stuff aka my favorite children :’)

so in my senior year our whole english class partnered up for projects, and my partner and I did, uh, hamlet in the style of dr. seuss. I did the art, he did the text, and IIRC the meter was kinda wonky but I had so much fun drawing it

also that time i made the chartres labyrinth out of matchsticks and hot glue in 7th grade

they got my name wrong a lot but that was more a source of amusement b/c it’s always fun to see what new pronunciations people come up with (this is not unique to subs of course, but most teachers learn pretty quick EXCEPT my 8th grade science teacher who NEVER called anyone by name - just “yes?” when you raised your hand - who i discovered didnt know how to pronounce my name when he tried getting my attention on a school-sponsored spring break trip. it was. something)

First things first, tell us a little about yourself.

what up im jared, im 19 and i never learned how to fuckign read. JK my name is Theo and I super know how to read. Most of the time. Also I’m 22. Anyway I’m one of the more OG members of the Magicians fandom, having been here since back in the early days of early s1. Uhhh I’m nonbinary and hella queer. Metafic is my most favorite thing in the world other than puppies. I cry at least once a day. I have adhd and depression and chronic pain and hella other issues. I’m an anthropology major, in my third year. I’m a slytherin, an illusions discipline, and a pisces.

How long have you been writing for?

Since I learned how, basically, but I only really started posting things online because of the Magicians and also because of Twilight?

What inspired you to start writing for The Magicians?

It’s the BEST and I find it very easy to write from Quentin’s pov which means I actually finish things sometimes lol.

Who is/are your favourite character(s) to write? What it is about them that makes them your favourite?

Quentin, because he is essentially me if I was born as a cisdude except more repressed in terms of sexuality and also more wealthy, which makes him super easy to write and super easy to get ideas about. I also like Penny, because for some reason people think I’m good at writing him?

Do you have a preference for a particular season/point in time to write about?

I write a lot set in the Brakebills years because I like the whole magic school thing and the exploration of magic and interpersonal relationships without having to deal with the Beast or other threats trying to destroy everything they know and love? Like I like that slow burn, spread out, things are happening but they’re happening slowly and also heres some meta about magic kind of exploration that that time gives me the opportunity to do. I think this is partially influenced by that the first book has them in that setting so much longer, and partially because I’m still doing the whole college thing myself and find that easiest to relate to (because no one really wants to read ‘Quentin working two part time jobs and struggling to survive and nothing else happens’ unless it’s just a tiny segment of the fic lmao).

Are you working on anything right now? Care to give us an idea about it?

Well, in regards to Magicians fic, I’m still trudging along on chapter two of Magician’s Path - I’m trying to introduce more of Julia’s side of the story as well as working on how to warp the two canons into each other while also making the storyline unique - and also on the next part of crazy/classic/life, my paradise kiss and magicians crossover au. I’m also trying to find the time to record more podfic of my fics, because I think its important to have audiofic available. But nothing new, just continuations.

As for other fandoms, I’m working on a HELLA long reworking of the Descendants universe (hi i love disney channel movies dont judge), and that’s my primary focus right now in terms of fic.

What is your favourite fic that you’ve written for The Magicians? Why?

Oh heck, um… probably either all tied up or The Magician’s Path. all tied up was my first time writing PiV smut and also writing shadeless!Julia and I’m just really proud of it? And TMP is like, my baby, my huge multichapter canon reworking that I’m putting so much planning into and I’m always so excited to talk about it. I know it doesn’t seem like much yet but y’all I have so many plans for it and I hope you end up loving it as much as I do.

Many writers have a fic that they are passionate about that doesn’t get the reception from the fandom that they hoped for. Do you have a fic you would like more people to read and appreciate?

TMP for sure - I hope that when I’m done more people give it a try.

What is your writing process like? Do you have any traditions or superstitions that you like to stick to when you’re writing?

Ha my writing process is either ‘has no ideas for months straight and then suddenly idea when I’m supposed to be doing something else but I gotta write this down!!!’ or ‘one sentence every month at most’. Now that the FTB server has gotten bigger, I’ve found some people who will proofread for me, so there’s that editing process afterwards (thanks @oneeyeddestroyer for being the best beta).

I guess my only superstition is that if I’m doing a multichapter or big work I try not to give too much detail out when I talk about it because I get worried that saying about the plot too much will make me lose interest in it.

Do you write while the seasons are airing or do you prefer to wait for hiatus? How does the ongoing development of the canon influence and inspire your writing process?

I do tend to write more when the show is airing, because more people are engaged and it’s something to fill the void between episodes - during hiatus I tend to drift away a bit and focus on other fandoms. This is the first show thats been so all consuming for me, I don’t usually watch things while they air because I tend to forget about remembering to watch them after a week or so? But Magicians keeps pulling me back and keeping me in.

As for ongoing canon developments, it really depends on the thing. If it fits into my plot of it’s a detail I want to put in, I might, but otherwise I’m comfortable lifting what I want from canon and throwing the rest out for a fic - we follow a show with canon multiverses, we can do what we want lmao.

What has been the most challenging fic for you to write?

Honestly, most of my fics? Because I try to improve every time I write and like, explore new things. So whatever I’m working on at the time is the most challenging.

Are there any themes or tropes that you particularly like to explore in your writing?

EVERYONE BEING HAPPY AND NOTHING BAD HAPPENING EVER cough cough I mean, um. I like meta, I like worldbuilding and exploring meta and seeing what I can change. I keep accidentally writing soulmate fics? So that’s a trend I guess.

Are there any writers that inspire your work? Fanfiction or otherwise?

Oh heck, so many dude, I don’t even know, I’m gonna just link you to my bookmarks because that’s the fic I love and probably unconsciously imitate on the often

As for nonfic, like I def want to write like Marisha Pessl or Tamora Pierce or Donna Tartt or Lev Grossman or Mark Z Danielewski but more in his house of leaves phase than his current stuff tbh or Neil Gaiman and also like. Everything that you read or watch or experience makes up how you see the world and how you create what you create and I consume so much stuff I can’t even begin to guess my influences beyond the little tidbits that I keep in my bookmarks or on my shelves.

What are you currently reading? Fanfiction or otherwise?

Currently I’m reading a lot of harry potter fic - the mood is the department of mysteries or other exploration of magic, so things related to that. HP fic is my go to when I’m not revving for any fandom in particular. Nonfic, I’m working my way through Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, which is hella fucking good, as well as a bajillion textbooks.

Thanks! Unfortunately, I don’t have any tips outside of what I do personally, which is to search through a ton of theme lists and constantly bookmark anything I think looks interesting. I also know a lot about coding (I used to code all my own blogs and pages, but now I’m too busy and my mental health doesn’t approve of it), so I make quite a few adjustments to most of my pre-made themes.

I know there is one where you use a point type system and can get feedback as long as you provide it for others, but I can’t remember what it’s called and I’ve never used it before. 

The best, most honest, and most helpful online writers community though, will always, always be the one you create for yourself. It’s a tried and true method writers have been using since novels first originated, and all it takes is for you to actively seek out a dozen of so writers from the same genre and create a place you can all chat and exchange stories in. (I use discord for this, but anywhere will do.)

Bulking Up Your Plot.

I don’t have any specific tips for this at the moment. Maybe someday I’ll whip up a full post, but I think there’s enough that’s been said before on the topic, and my advice doesn’t stray far from the average. Some things that might help you though:
