Just realising most of my grievances with popular bat fanon really boil down to "Character flaws are good and interesting actually and I don't like when you try and take them away to make the character more palatable"

oh geeze, thanks! 💚💚💚 I'm really glad people enjoy my stupid sense of humor; mostly I just draw things to make myself laugh, and if it makes other people laugh too, then bonus points! usually it's just one joke or mental image that gets stuck in my head (every time I saw Fellow spin his cane, all I could think about was him go-go-gadgeting away on it...) and in my quest to justify it, it picks up other jokes and bits along the way and usually doesn't even end up as the main focus anymore. entire narrative arcs have spun out just so I could use a single bad pun in a throwaway line. this is a terrible way to explain it but I'm not sure how else to put it into words!
and sometimes it's just "weird things my sister has said that I make fun of her for"

#sorry i just have so many opinions on prison abolition thanks to being the child of a prisoner#former prisoner#tho prison basically ruined his life forever and now he's a crazy old man#what did he go to prison for?? a few things but most damning was when we has like 19-22 or something he stole a car to impress a girl#he also lit it on fire which I will admit is worse but#a 19 year old kid (who got kicked out at 16 mind you) just trying to impress a girl and he went to prison for basically his whole 20s#he did uh. he did actually allegedly escape at one point but my aunt turned him back in. snitch#anyway yeah#i was born when he was 34 and like a handful of years if not months out at most#i was an accident rebound baby but then he ended up being a single father lmfao#said it taught him more than prison ever could#if you read all these tags that turned into a rant have a cookie

i will forever be annoyed by the entitled "well you put it on the internet for everyone to see so I am allowed to be a dick about it!" attitude. fandom is supposed to be fun. if you have nothing nice to say about a piece of fiction (or an artwork, or so) then do not say anything at all.
"so authors only want gushing comments praising them and no real criticism??" yes actually that would be great! because fandom is supposed to be fun and hearing all the things you did wrong is actually not fun. we're not being paid for this. we're not offering any quality guarantee. if you don't like it? go away.
posting art on ao3 or on tumblr or on x or whatever is not blanket permission for random strangers to be mean about it just because it's posted publicly and they feel entitled to offer their ~opinion~.

thinking about alchemy of souls again because of course, and man, Park Jin really told a 19 year old suffocating in grief—who also just died??—that he should never have been born and was therefore responsible for every single thing that went wrong in the country, especially the miserable life and death of the woman he mourns and loves more than his own soul.
And then he wonders why Uk is so lifeless and unable to move on...
#it's very interesting that the two times we see Uk break down (not directly related to Yeong's death) is because of things Park Jin has said#like it's very clear that park jin is the closest thing uk has to a father#and his opinion and approval as one of the few people who has watched over him for his life matters deeply#if anyone else had told him it was his fault for being born#he would have absolutely humiliated them#instead he genuinely believes it because it was park jin who told him at the moment he was most vulnerable#and as for jin#we know he cares for uk but their ideologies are so different that it causes so much friction#can't bro just do a parenting check with kim doo-jo first i swear#park jin#jang uk#alchemy of souls

Musical Touken Ranbu: Hanakage Yureru Tomizu (The Shadows of Flowers Swaying In The Whetwater) english subs
About a month later than I'd have liked, but here they are! Even if its writing is a bit more messy than usual, its core is very solid. Of course, Chougi's live song more than got away with me (it's got Japanese Sign Language), so if you could, please watch it gently.
I dedicate this to the friends of mine who love Ichigo Hitofuri. May you be unapologetically yourself, right the way you are.
Keep in mind that this is only the subtitle file, timed and tled to the DMM senshuuraku and BD/DVD. The archive version will have a talk at the start, so the starting times of the subs will have to be delayed accordingly.

Going by the writing style of the writer as shown in Goumyu and Ishi's Utaawase skit all the obvious pitfalls appeared#touching more lightly upon other characters works more nicely for lighthearted situations or broad focuses--#when it comes to character-focussed stuff you need to ahve everyone play a part and FEEL#and I really missed the more... personal touch and characterisation efficiency the previous writer excelled in#Ichigo and Hon'ami aside there are very few songs in which the feelings of the swords and their opinion on the situation are highlighted#it's a shame-- especially when we've got such good singers on the cast#what's also a shame is that this seals off any kage plot Kogitsunemaru could've had after Utaawase (because it'd have been done before)#Hanakage was the myu where I was like “Ah. Kogitsunemaru has no unique themes/directions left.”#it's devastating but also kind of freeing in a sense#(and then MichiOku came around and simultaneously gave Kogi a place AND pulled the rug from under him so well-- mixed feelings on that one!#in any case please enjoy!#it'd be cute if we had a kage myu at one point with Kogi Koryuu and the one from this myu
