Mac for short! FC is Xania Dotson.
Mac is the backup goalie for the team and plays goalie for the practice squad. She’s been trying to get a starting position for years since moving to Wiskayok and making the team, but no dice. A military brat with a dad constantly away as they have to make frequent moves from place to place, sports started out as a way for her to find an “in” to each of her schools. She always feels on the outside of the girls no matter how well-liked she is.
She wasn’t thrilled to have to move from Virginia to New Jersey in freshman year—like, New Jersey, the state everyone makes fun of—but the consolation prize was that the high school supposedly had a top soccer team. Though Mac has always struggled with grades and can never seem to focus on school (yes she has ADHD what gave it away) she’s extremely invested in her soccer career to the point of obsession. That year, she and another new girl in her year, Yuki, made the team together and became fast friends. Mac herself, already confident in her sexuality at her age, quickly developed a thing for Jackie Taylor. During their high school years, she was Jackie’s off-and-on friend, as she would sometimes take priority when Jackie and Shauna got into fights—though they never lasted. This quickly got Mac on Shauna’s bad side. Mac admires Van even though she’s jealous of her and the two hang out sometimes.
In the Wilderness, Mac attempts to cling to the existing team dynamics and holds onto Jackie as their captain and leader. When Jackie is cast outside by the team, Mac goes outside to attempt to comfort Jackie and coax her back inside, but she can’t take the place of Shauna, and Jackie, upset, tells her to leave her alone. Mac is horrified when they find Jackie dead the next day and regrets not insisting upon her coming inside. From this point on, she goes from embracing Lottie’s visions basically for “fun” to rejecting them and feeling embittered towards the other girls. Though embracing the harsh and violent acts they have to commit, she very much feels like it’s her vs. everyone else. This gives her a sense of solidarity with Coach Ben in S3 and is Team Nat because of this (and because she and Shauna hate each other lmao)
Mac is not present in the adult timeline! I say while giggling
~~~
Yuki Machidori ♤ . 🂡 ~ ♠ ⚡︎
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
FC is Sun Yihan. For anyone who might be wondering, yes, she is totally inspired off of what we have of the character of Yumi who was in the original Yellowjackets pitch and I attached myself to like a leech. Justice for Yumi! So I literally switched 1 letter of her first name, picked a last name and slapped the OC label on her. Creative I know. Living my Yumi dreams through Yuki
Yuki grew up in a small suburban town in Japan with a Japanese mother and Chinese father. They weren’t very well-off and ended up in a somewhat rough area. Yuki had trouble making friends as a child and was constantly displaying aggressive behaviors that drove other kids off. Immigrating to America in the late 80s, the family tried to find a fresh start in Connecticut. Yuki struggled to assimilate and learn a whole new language and all new customs, and although the family left their hometown largely because of the trouble Yuki was getting in and the sketchy people she was associating with, her behavior only worsened in Connecticut because she missed home. She’s seen counselors since, and by the time they moved once more to New Jersey, Yuki seemed almost well-adjusted.
Yuki, like Mac, started at Wiskayok High School in her freshman year and joined the team the same year. She developed a friendship with Mac, though it deteriorated throughout their high school years because of Mac’s fixation with Jackie. Yuki is an asset to the team because of her surprising strength and dexterity despite her small stature. She’s scrappy and never had any trouble bodying the other team (fouled out a few times for this). She’s hard to get to know and doesn’t easily get close to others, but she’s respected on her team for her grit and is committed to her teammates.
Like Misty, she takes to the Wilderness quickly. Being away from the pressures of her life in Wiskayok doesn’t sound so bad for a while. The night the girls are uneasy because they spotted a bear, Yuki assures them that she’d have it handled if one did attack. Absolute comedy gold to the others. Yuki is dead serious about it and does not get the joke. As she spends more time with the others hanging out in the cabin, she starts to feel more attached to her teammates and comes out of her shell a bit.
She does become one of Lottie’s supporters, particularly after Lottie actually kills the bear. If the pragmatic parts of her don’t believe in a Wilderness spirit, she views Lottie as a strong leader worthy of her loyalty—and when her loyalty is earned, it’s not easily lost. Next to perhaps Shauna and Lottie, Yuki becomes one of the more outwardly violent as the situation continues to unravel into madness. Unlike Mac, who hesitated to pursue Natalie when she drew the queen card, Yuki was one of the first to run after her. Then on the flip side, when Lottie proclaimed Natalie the leader, Yuki treated her graciously and was entirely willing to accept Natalie as their new leader. This also means, however, that in S3 when Shauna emerges as the newly chosen leader by Lottie, Yuki is one of the few who does not seem bothered. With each shift in power, she adapts accordingly.
Yuki does make it out of the Wilderness, but is the first of the survivors to die in the years following.
Bonus random fun facts for anyone who wants them (me):
Haven’t really decided if Mac is transmasc or genderfluid but listen sometimes babygirl is secretly a repressed dude who wants to be called good boy
Mac is extremely panicked when the team realizes no one’s coming for them because she has two younger siblings at home and a single mom who needs her help
Yuki was actually a lifelong vegan before the Wilderness and struggled with disordered eating so like you can imagine what a wild ride it is for her 😭
Already named Yuki’s inspiration but Mac’s was essentially to mirror Melissa as Shauna’s “stand-in” for Jackie by having played the role of Jackie’s stand-in for Shauna. Always stuck as the substitute this loser is
Both are open for bonding with other OCs!
if you have a yj oc, PLEASE reblog this with them and maybe a little fact about them. i wanna see them all.
People need to stop blaming Agamemnon, Orestes or Clytemnestra, all the blood in the House of Atreus is Artemis and Apollo's blame, they are the true villains of the story. Artemis asking Iphigenia for a sacrifice and, yes, she saved her, but the family didn't knew that and all of them thought she was dead. And Apollo forced Orestes to kill his mother and didn't bothered to adverted him about the Erynies.
Apollo being an asshole in the myths is not a surprise, but Artemis demanding a young girl as a sacrifice, that suprised me.
Actually I should start from the last parts because I disagree. We might say "gods are assholes" as a joke but in reality gods are not just someone with human emotions and weaknesses are also deities; entities that represent things that occur in nature. Apollo also represents sickness. In the case of Orestes mental illness in my opinion. Apollo pushing Orestes to the deed seems part of fate and also symbolism on mental illness. Also Apollo DOES try to help Orestes in "Eumenides". His haunting by the Furies is a natural occurrence of the criminal act of murder in general and matricide in particular. The Furies/Erinyes are the natural occurrence not a godly sent per se. They were also sent by Clytemnestra's ghost aka symbolically Orestes going mad from his own hatred and guilt together. Apollo tried to evict Orestes from them. In Euripides play he even stops Orestes from committing even more crimes such as killing Helen and taking Hermione as a hostage etc.
For the request of Artemis you can also see here:
Artemis is a goddess cruel in her punishments (of course she is. Wilderness and nature are cruel in the first place). She has always been. And she was associated with deaths of little girls before (for example the shooting of Niobe's daughters when her brother killed her sons because Niobe dared to compare herself to their mother). In the name of Artemis in mythology some other people like the Taurians are also associating her name with human sacrifice so to me her demand doesn't seem weird at all. She wanted to punish Agamemnon by asking him the most precious thing he had; his first child and daughter. His daughter also fits the description of women who serve her name (see my analysis up) etc.
However I absolutely agree for the rest.
It is totally not just unfair but criminally incomplete to accuse these two for the entire curse of the House. The house was cursed already from Tandalus who cooked his own son to the gods then to Pelops or Niobe or then Atreus Thyestes and Aegisthus etc. Fate is the one to blame as usual with the Greek myths that involve such things. Human hubris and cruelty and divine intervention in these cases. I think it is totally wrong to just focus on these figures just because it is the trend to hate them.
“Why’s he call you Darlin’?”
on my knees begging my brain to stop trying to associate this song with Sam
#(it’s too late guys i’ve already added it to a couple playlists. i can’t help it)#redacted audio#redacted asmr#redacted sam#redacted darlin#rp audio stuff#Seven’s Blorbo Songs#music stuff#i fell down a rabbit hole of music videos on YT last night and decided to give this song a chance based on the title obviously#skipped through all the exposition just to quickly find out if i liked the song or not#and as soon as the first line came in i went head-in-hands at my desk bc i just Knew it was over for me#i hate that i like it#it’s very repetitive and giving strong Modern/Mainstream Pop-Rap-Country vibes#but i’m not too proud to admit that i eat that shit up on occasion#‘You’ve been beatin’ ‘round the bush so much you’re knockin’ off the leaves.’ goes kinda hard tho i’m ngl#‘ole boy in a Ridgeline and i drive a Chevy’ would Sam be a truck elitist? hmm#i doubt it. i see him as too practical-minded to care about brand names and shit like that#like irl i think it’s very silly. and perhaps a little questionable to hate on a ‘foreign’ vehicle. but i don’t even like trucks at all so#insecure country boys and their obsession with big trucks are ruining the road for us regular people that just want a normal ass car#but i’ll stop before i go off on a rant about america’s transportation problems#anyways. i can separate reality from fiction and i love the image of Sam in a beat up beloved old truck. cliché as it may be#getting back on track. my POINT was that the song doesn’t even necessarily fit Sam’s vibes i just. can’t undo the association#been trying to think of a way for it to fit him but that would require Darlin’ to be cheating on him and i don’t like that thought#like i love some types of angst but cheating isn’t one of them#i could view it through the context of being directed at Alexis bc i already hate her lmao but once again it doesn’t fit in canon#and i don’t know how i feel about the thought that he used to call her Darlin’ too. though it’s very possible. mmm angst#not that it has to fit with canon for me to attach a song to a character. certainly not! but i need to make it work in my mind Somehow#and i can’t even come up with a good HC to make this fit. the idea of Jealous!Sam is fun in theory but idk if i’d like it practice anyways#tldr: does this really fit canon Sam? meh. Is it forever tied to him in my mind anyways due to the use of the petname Darlin’? absolutely.#anywho. one of these days i’ll open this app to do something other than vent post or yap abt rp audio blorbos. but that day is not today!
Why is your title 73?
I am Ant no.73 of my ant colony ofc/j. NGL… I kind of forgot about it HWGAHAH I set it as that when I made the account and haven’t bothered changing it to anything else. I just really liked the number 73 ig when I was looking for names and idk… It’s kinda a stretch, but my Chinese name has the word 鑫 which I was taught to me as 3 金 and that’s the only concrete personal reference I can recall LOL
A name that actually had an intended meaning behind it is Ant. Inspiration comes from that image of the sad ant with bindle because oomf said that’s me making new accounts when I get a new interest and well. 😭. It stuck. My pocket full of aliases✨
just finished Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, and it is a game written by cowards for cowards.
the final twist genuinely ruins the game. it's so stupid as a narrative decision. i hate it so much. it almost makes me understand what the people yelling about The Last Jedi being too subservient to its themes were yelling about (OBVIOUSLY not the ones that were being bigoted and loud and wrong about it, but just the ones who had actual issues with its narrative directions/execution). genuinely, the twist takes what could have been an extremely solid 8.5, maybe a 9/10 game down to a 4/10 game with nothing of interest to say deluding itself into thinking it's saying anything of worth by thoughtlessly repeating patterns as if that's supposed to generate meaning without any real effort of actually committing to that meaning, or seeing the world as anything beyond its basic binary worldview of Good and Bad.
putting that twist in fundamentally cuts the legs out from any actual, interesting and substantive critique it could have leveled at the legal system and our feelings about people on trial and their perceived guilt or innocence, and it just ends up reinforcing it as a power of good that Will Ultimately Prevail In The Search For Truth, as if that is even remotely a thing any legal system is concerned with, especially the one in the game that mostly just stumbles into The Right Choices because it's a game controlled by the player. it's frankly ideologically incoherent to the point of saying nothing because its critique is unfocused and toothless. best it can muster is "maybe some people are corrupt and lying, but if You take Advantage of The System, you can beat them" as if malicious compliance is supposed to change the system. fuck off.
ran out of tags but. i'm serious about this lol, i really hate it as a narrative and ideological choice. the game threatens to say something bold and interesting and then just pulls the rug out from underneath you. it sucks. it's very much like 12 Angry Men in that way, i think, except at least that movie Knows what it's saying and that its basic premise is its ideological downfall, this just doesn't really feel like it says anything much interesting or coherent, ultimately, because the criticism either drowns in the length and comedic nature of it, or just ultimately isn't focused and pointed and nuanced enough to actually say something meaningful. like ik someone's gonna do a "kid's game" thing but hello, kid's shit has always been nuanced and just bc it's "for kids" doesn't mean it has to abide by some binary ass morality that flattens all its interesting critique, especially when you're constantly led, structurally, to the more interesting and nuanced narrative choice only to have a twist completely ruin it and making it all feel like a waste of your time. plenty of things are nuanced and interesting and "for kids" without deflating their themes and messages by writing a stupid twist that undercuts the interesting parts of its arguments.
#james talks#people will probably be mad about this one but i'm Wright about it. Phoenix Wright.#sorry. had to be done. making up for the lack of pun names and jokes in the last case.#anyway i'm so serious when i say it's a cowardly narrative direction that just completely undercuts the whole fucking point—#it was trying to make about the ways the legal systems of Japan are set up to encourage only closing cases by any means necessary#like it just literally doesn't make even half the point bc guess what? Ema just isn't actually responsible.#so you don't have to have any remotely complicated feelings about the justice system. it WILL get the perpetrators at the end.#Edgeworth? didn't do it. Ema? didn't do it. you don't ever have to have complicated feelings about working with people.#sorry i just REALLY fucking hate this choice so immensely i am more filled with rage the more i think about it#apparently this is a actual tag so.#Ace Attorney critical#resisting tagging this with the main game tag bc i don't wanna hear spoilers for the other games.#or hear annoying fans bitching about my correct take in my asks.#in case it wasn't obvious i am serious about the take but i am also still processing.#probably have slightly more nuanced thoughts when i've heard more opinions from other people and seen their takes.#i already know someone's gonna make some bullshit argument about believing in the good in people and how that makes sense but.#getting a charge of guilty literally is a failstate in this. your client and associates can never Actually Be Guilty of anything—#besides some light corruption. the twist about Lana not being a murderer is fine. it works bc it's clever.#but Ema not being a murderer is shit bc it completely ruins the promise the whole thing sets up. like sure Lana still goes to prison at—#the end but we can't dwell on that at all or feel anything but happy bc it's the last note of the game. so they have to make Ema not guilty#did it ever cross their minds they could've bonded again in prison?#like if you're sending Lana to prison anyway. just send Ema in with her. she can still be guilty of the thing and you can actually make—#more interesting critique of the system as abusing people who have no other choice instead of them—#Being Wronged Through No Fault Of Their Own as if they're innocent little toddlers with no control of anything. like with Edgeworth that—#narrative choice was more acceptable bc he was like 9 years old. Ema was 14. what the fuck are we talking about.#i'm not saying being 14 means she should hang or whatever like she was still a teen but they could've written her to be guilty—#but not A Murderer in a million different ways and they chose the most annoying and cowardly path bc—#it promises to be interesting and nuanced and then just completely flips you off right at the finish line—#as if your interest in its commentary and what it Wants To Say was too much investment as if they didn't spend 80% of the game doing that#by making you commit crimes to save people (Phoenix admits lawyers aren't supposed to investigate so 90% of the evidence is illegal)
For some reason I think I asked this question before but I'll ask it now anyway
So like. Your username is patchesproblem
And apparently your. Nickname? Is patches. Because you sometimes tag your posts as patches posts
What is your problem
This has been haunting me for months every time I look at your username please
Patches isn't really my name anymore. I debated changing it to NikolasProblem but all of my work has my other name as its signature, so I can't really do it unfortunately. (Though I have thought about changing my tags to Nikola since it doesn't change much)
However, there IS a story behind it, though it's not particularly interesting.
Problem comes from the fact I just have mental health issues, specifically though it's referring to my hyperfixations / interests and how bad they get. It sounds depressing but it's just supposed to be a funny little joke I swear.
Finally going through my inbox is wild because apparently people have sent me a ton of anon hate over the years that I just never noticed. And I'm pretty sure it was all the same person and someone I knew irl because they used my legal name and all the messages had the worst grammar I've ever seen. So, like, not only did you fail to harass me because I didn't notice until years later, but your horrible writing made you sound like a drunk yelling on a street corner at 2am. Honestly, this was the most entertaining way to start my day :D
Everyone, immediately: yeah yeah, evil alternate universe Batman, we've all seen it. Good alternate universe Joker??? I mean it's not technically unheard of but it's really not as common, and still a little bit of a new concept. Like, who would ever think the Joker would be the good guy? Especially if Danny mentions he has an evil alternate future self who kills everyone and takes over the world??? Everyone's immediately like, oh yeah that sounds more like what we'd have expected of an alternate universe Joker.
"But don't worry guys I screamed at him and now hes in a thermos outside of time so that universe doesn't exist anymore." <<Danny doing more to protect people from the ""Joker"" than Batman ever did, or so think the JL.
Haha kidding.
But still, the idea of a good Joker is so strange, people think that Danny's just pretending to not be a horrible person so that they let their guards down and he can set up an evil plan to stab everyone in the back. It takes a while for them to warm up to him. Especially when he brings up weird science haha
I like to think that some Gothamites saw a confused Baby Joker step out of a portal and immediately thought time travel. This must be Joker before he became the clown prince of crime. Quick someone kill it before it becomes more powerful!
But when Joker sees internet videos of a confused Baby Joker stepping out of a portal? 50/50 whether it's fight on sight or a new protege with some good taste. It probably changes from moment to moment tbh. But even if he decides on the latter, he's immediately outraged as soon as Danny takes more of Batman's attention than the Joker does, let's be honest.
Danny, seeing another billionaire vampire wannabe taking an interest in him:
Tumblr media
In other words, this kid is definitely not like any Joker Batman's ever seen before lol
Oh! But can you imagine if Danny mentions Red Huntress as the frenemy ("well, she thinks we're enemies but I think she's starting to warm up to me") who's always trying to shoot him? And he refers to her as Red? "—with this red mask on all the time and new gadgets she steals from Plasmius—yeah the rich vampire guy—cause she used to work with him but now she hates him—" and now they're all convinced she's Red Hood's alternate universe counterpart?
(Not) Another Joker
Over time, effects from Danny’s ghost form starts to bleed over into his human form.
His skin gains a deathly pallor. His hair turns white before gaining an ectoplasmic green tinge. When he smiles, it looks just a bit too wide to be human.
He, completely coincidentally, looks a lot like the Joker.
Not that he realized that fact for a while. Sure, Joker’s crimes may make the news sometimes, but it’s not like anyone in Amity Park paid that much thought to a criminal in an entirely different state. The connection just… never occurred to anyone.
Well, that was until Danny ended up in Gotham for [dealer’s choice of reason—college, vacation, runaway, etc]
Because then everyone noticed, and it started to cause lots of problems for him.
Started rereading the Hunger Games series and I feel like it’s so overlooked how in 74th and 75th Hunger Games, we don’t know every Tribute’s names, with Katniss only referring to them by their District numbers but in TBOSAS, we knew every single Tribute by name. We associated them with the clothes they wore on the Reaping Day and Suzanne even goes so far as to describe how they looked, however briefly. We see these Tributes and we’re familiarized with them by the little tidbits provided to the mentors and to Snow and Lucy Gray. But we never get this in the original trilogy.
In two generations, President Snow alienated the Districts from each other so much that Katniss didn’t even care to know all the names of the Tributes sent into the Arena with her, with the exception being those who posed great risk against her safety and those she felt great compassion for (e.g. Cato, Thresh, Rue, Mags, Betee, Wiress etc.). Katniss even went so far as to call the D6 Tributes in the 75th Hunger Games morphlings, for their affinity to imbibe in the drugs that help them forget their own traumas (an incredibly hurtful description, in my own opinion, to be known by the qualities you hate the most about yourself). We never know the real name of the 74th D5 girl, with Katniss only referring to her as Foxface and we don’t even know Marvel’s name until we get to the second book and he was Katniss’ first personal kill. Katniss even kills the D4 girl in the books with the same tracker jacker venom that killed Glimmer and yet still, we don’t know her name. We are so removed from the identity of the other Tributes that we don’t even know what some of them looked like beyond brief descriptions of mangled bodies and dead Tributes in the bloodbath at the Cornucopia.
And, the thing is, Suzanne established the importance of names in the series. Even in real life, we recognize the importance of being named. It is a fundamental aspect of being human. If you’re ever in a perilous situation where a person might be placing your life in danger, we’re told to remind the person that you’re human. “Keep saying your name, how old you are, where you came from. Remind them you are a human being just like them.” Before any propaganda can work against a group of people, refusing to recognize a person’s name is the first step to dehumanization. And just like the people of the Districts, we don’t care enough about the other Tributes to even want to know their names. Their propaganda worked on us, the readers.
In two generations, President Snow completely wiped out any sense of familiarity and camaraderie the Districts may have shared with the other. In two generations, Snow sowed the seeds of distrust and division into the Districts so deeply that even we, the readers, were affected by the effects of Capitol propaganda. In two generations, the Districts ceased to genuinely care about the others beyond the vague sense of injustice they feel for their shared plight. It’s why Career Districts don’t seem to care about killing the other Tributes. How can you care, to show your compassion and humanity, when you can barely see them as people? Yes, they may have been in the Arena with you. Yes, they may have been starved and beaten and forced into labor like you were. Yes, they might be children just like you. Yes, they might be subjected to the same deplorable system that turned you into virtual slaves. But they are not your friends. They are not your allies. They are strange, with different customs and traditions that you have. You do not share the same values. They do not care about you. At the first chance they get, they will kill you with your bare hands and they will do it with alacrity if it meant their survival. There can only be one Victor and it can’t be them. It has to be you.
