I remember that the way I met Devilman was through crybaby. The truth was the most boring and exasperating thing I have ever seen. I had heard great things about Devilman but when I saw him I could only think "Where is the depth and thoughtfulness of this?"

When I finally finished the anime I just thought "Damn! I finally finished this shit." My experience in anime made me think about immediately seeing the original content and when I read the manga, I finally understood that depth and emotion that spoke of Devilman. He was able to sympathize with Akira, Ryo and Miki (which I hate in crybaby). The protagonist was no longer desperate and pathetic, he was brilliant and different from cliché protagonists. Ryo was no longer that maniac without feelings, he was someone emotional, desperate for all the horror about demons and someone who is very faithful to his ideals but when he realizes his mistake he really regrets it. Miki, she is no longer a pure and stupid girl, I was fascinated that in the manga she is more rude and tenacious, something that is not seen much in anime (Miki del llorón is just another of the bunch) and in the end how she fights for her life , it was really admirable

Devilman is much more than how superficial crybaby is. crybaby lets himself be carried away by the clichés as the crying and kind protagonist (very hypocritical with Akira of the crybaby who is a pathetic horny), a villain without feelings who in the end understands love and friendship and the pure and naive girl who does not know the evil of the world. Devilman is not that cliché, it is about a boy who fuses to help his best friend, but in the end he also gets carried away by his heroism that makes mistakes which lead to the end. In antagonist who had the ideal of protecting humanity and needs his best friend, his need and desperation to want to help and do something but in the end he discovers that in reality that was not his objective and in reality it is Satan who wants to destroy humans For the same reasons that his human self wanted to put an end to the demons, but in the end, when everything is lost, he realizes that not only did he lose his best friend whom he loves, but that he made the mistake that the god to whom he revealed himself wanted to make.

That's why it seems ridiculous to me to see people say that crybaby is better and explains in more depth or it's the same story, because it isn't. Also the previous reasons are part of why I hate crybaby

For a friendship I have made in the devilman fandom. I have realized that in the English-speaking and Spanish-speaking fandom they are very different. Here the samples;

They gloss over a lot of important details in Devilman's plot and it's just "The world went to shit because Satan is gay"

Many ignore or are angry that Jun is a part of Satan

They forget the main message of the work

They hate people who dislike the crybaby because "how can they criticize a masterpiece that is also developed and has good animation"...LMAO

Seriously, they compare and put Ryo in the same place with sexual abusers like Griffith and Kaworu 💀

They literally believe that Guts and Griffith's relationship is that of Akira and Ryo... I think they forget that Miura said that Griffith is inspired by Gilbert

They forget the fact that Satan's purposes are only "Because human beings are weak and inferior"... Well, most of them are just for the crybaby so take that purpose and it's passable.

For some God is good... LOL

Some have the idea that all products are a different loop... Literally everything, all the different adaptations

So, the thing about this is really complicated because I'm an avid art fan and I consume all sorts of media, from books to movies to tv shows and music. Generally, I get a concept then my brain starts piecing things together. (Crux is the hardest to explain because he originally started off as the child of two of me and my husband's oldest OCs... and he became a whole separate beast on his own.)

But I can give characters that really remind me of them!

Crux - Sans (Undertale), Gojo (JJK), Loki (Marvel), Shawn Spencer (Psych) (This is the worst list of all time), also Markus (Red Embrace:Hollywood), and Lee (Bones and All). Hozier and Will Wood remind me of his aesthetic.

Black - Guts (Berserk), Lio Fotia (Promare), Fenris (Dragon Age), Warren Peace (Sky High), Bigby (Wolf Among Us), Juri (Utena). For music, grandson has his vibes.

Vincenzo - Lestat (Interview with a Vampire), Orin (Baldur's Gate 3), Gilbert (Kaze to Ki no Uta), Mahito (JJK), Alois Trancy (Black Butler), Ryo Asuka (Devilman Crybaby). His storyline was largely inspired by HP Lovecraft's Dreams of Witch House. For music, near everything by Emilie Autumn and Mindless Self Indulgence.

Abel - Ashley (The Boys), Rhys (Tales from the Borderlands), Nathan (Life is Strange). (I won't lie, a huge part of him is directly inspired to parody Right Wing pundits lolol) For music, no lie, Laufey and Lana del Rey, LMAO.

For Mars:

Hello, Clovis here, creator of Mars! Thank you for the interest! Mars likes classic films with lots of sexuality and violence. Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, Chicago (he loves a good musical if it isn't too sugary-sweet). He'll go for the stereotypical Dad Movies too as long as he thinks they're suave enough, like James Bond and Indiana Jones. For books, he reads a lot more than you'd think and enjoys being well-read, but let's say A Song of Ice and Fire, because there's political drama and everyone's suffering. (Their misfortune and crushed innocence amuses him.)

Mars is inspired heavily from the Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood depiction of Greed. While not a direct inspiration (I've had the character for years), Sukuna from Jujutsu Kaisen is hilariously similar to him. Vintage mafia movies are where a lot of his aesthetic comes from. If you like crime thrillers, I would highly recommend the television show Fargo for bastard men that you love to hate, are scary as hell, and are darkly comedic. — Clovis @VileFable

im doing my Thing so i cant spend long talking about this. my two takeaways from the most recent man chainsaw man chapter and the latest arc as a whole:

this falls in line with many of the plot and thematic threads fujimoto has previously introduced. nayuta was not a person to barem, or anyone really. she was a devil, she was makima's shade, she was the bringer of the apocalypse, she was chainsaw man's weakness. she was only a person to denji, and to us, who saw her be so much more than that. and like, this fits not only parallels to part 1 (denji being violated and then losing the one person who matters to him, food as love/sustenance being turned to ashes) and the themes of children being pawns and having no agency, but it fits the parallels with fujimoto's own clear inspiration works (particularly evangelion and devilman crybaby), and his work in fire punch. so this isnt out of nowhere and this fits, all things considered

i fucking hate it and nayuta deserved so much better than ending up being sacrificed as to trigger denji's despair. and it doesnt matter how well it fits thematically, it compounds upon my frustration with asa's own writing and lack of narrative agency or depth. i just straight up am mad at this. i really am.

It's frustrating that people think that about Ryo and label him a "jealous maniac." I think that's one of the reasons I hate crybaby, for portraying him like that...

it’s interesting how people will use the ova to justify portraying ryo as a ‘jealous crazy guy’ (that and one summers day, which i can’t argue with, i just don’t really consider it canon), when … in the first ova, miki is the one who is very clearly jealous of ryo? this is mostly a dub characterization— miki is really protective over her title as Akiras Best Friend. see: her being like ‘well that’s not true cause i’m your bestest friend’, and then her being all huffy and saying “well then you’d better go if he’s so important to you” when akira insists on going with ryo. idk . just interesting. miki is also portrayed as weirdly jealous in the manga too, so i’m not really sure why this characterization is applied to ryo all the time

Kill me for this opinion if you want, a few things about the new DMC anime trailer to be released in April 2025. It is purely my opinion.

Things I am excited about:

-Rabbit from Devil May Cry Manga

-It is a young Dante post or pre DMC3, I'm leaning more towards pre-DMC3, the one year gap between manga and DMC3 game. I am not excited about this and I hope this is not true. I wanted to see more mature and post-DMC5 Dante.

- That one shirtless scene... I'm here for it.

Things I did not like:

-okay, controversial, hated the voice. I can't just interpret this voice as Dante's cool voice.

-Too much of Devilman Crybaby like design. I might be wrong, anyone else see it?

-If it is pre-DMC3, we can expect no Devil Trigger.

Note: I am not saying I do not like the idea of new anime or I am not excited about it. But Netflix scares me...it is a hit for mess. And I don't know. It makes me anxious. Dante is a beloved character.
