i did a book report on a book about the placebo effect in college and as anon says, it's incredibly powerful—it works better than actual medication in some cases because the side effects are, naturally, a lot gentler than those of real medicine, so you can get an improved health outcome with no physiological drawbacks—but as @ms-demeanor correctly retorts it's entirely unethical to use as a treatment plan, which (the book concluded) is a sad waste of the human body's ability to heal itself when prompted.
the good news (the book asserted) is that widespread public awareness of the placebo effect means that people don't only believe in the ability of medicine to heal them, they also believe in the ability of the placebo effect to heal them. not only is the placebo effect apparently stronger now, you can even legitimately inform a patient that their treatment is a placebo—with said patient fully understanding that 'placebo' means 'no active medical properties'—and they will still experience the Placebo Effect! Because they expect to!
Now, outside of the book, researchers don't seem to be in consensus over why exactly placebos can still work even when you know they're placebos, nor do they agree that the apparent strengthening of the placebo effect over time is necessarily the result of wider public awareness of it. but the evidence for the efficacy of "open-label placebos" is certainly there. it isn't as strong as the standard placebo effect you can get from taking something you think is real medicine, but hey, any amount of free accelerated healing is useful!
last i checked there wasn't anybody actively trying to use this glitch in the matrix to spread the placebo effect ethically, but if you see this post, please allow it to strengthen the medical impact of every minor healthful or health-adjacent thing you do. believing something is real medicine can trick you into feeling (and getting) a little better, but believing something is FAKE medicine can ALSO trick you into feeling (and getting) a bit better. And knowing as much will probably make it more likely to happen.
this is NOT me saying you should spend money on homeopathic bullshit. it's me saying you should stretch and drink water, even if you don't think those things will actually make you feel better, because as long as you remind yourself about the placebo effect, you'll be, theoretically, more likely to actually experience it.
I hate to say that, but in defense of homeopathy:
A lot of medicine is value projection and/or placebo. We give kids sparkly bandaids on minor abrasions not to help the symptoms or risks of infection, but so that the kid feels cared for.
We sometimes take daily medication not because it helps or we think we need it, but because our grandma raves all about this new cure-all that fixed all her issues.
We overindulge in paracetamol and ibuprofen even in the cases it clearly doesn't work because we need to feel like we took something that will help.
Homeopathy that tries to replace standard treatment is evil. But there is value in having a readily available, socially valued, thing you take when feeling bad, that does absolutely nothing.
In the 20s they just did heroin instead, it wasn't better.
So there's this thing called informed consent that is kind of super duper important and the use of placebo to treat illness is a major violation of informed consent.
Everybody likes the gifset from the Birdcage with the Aspirin with the A and the S scraped off because it's cute and funny, but it's cute and funny in a movie; if a "medical professional" is giving you sugar pills because they don't actually know how to treat you and want to offer you comfort instead, they're saying "you're too fucking stupid to handle the fact that you're ill so I'm going to hold your hand for a moment and hope that makes you feel better."
Your attitude is both fatalistic and tremendously paternalistic, and people with complex illnesses and chronic pain deserve to be treated better than kids getting a sparkly bandaid and a pat on the head.
People overuse painkillers because they're in pain; NSAIDs have effects, even if they aren't treating the root cause of pain, and people often take them because even though they won't stop a spasm, they'll make it less painful for a few hours and if that's what you've got, that's what you take.
The huge, regular doses of ibuprofen I used to take to help my migraines when I didn't have health insurance didn't stop the migraines, but they made it so I could work. What DID help was getting medically diagnosed with celiac disease and no longer triggering my autoimmune disorder on a daily basis.
You know what wouldn't have helped? A sympathetic listener and a sugar pill. Or worse, yet another sympathetic listener telling me about some fucking lead-contaminated turmeric supplement that cured their granny's headaches.
Shit on the heroin cures all you want, they at least included a legitimate cough suppressant and had a mechanism of action more effective than a patronizing lecture about how we've all got to get on somehow, so we might as well pretend we feel better.
Fuck your shitty, shitty attitude. Sick people deserve better than you.
#granted it's been ten years since college#i think it was the placebo effect by anne harrington#i had to refresh myself on the wiki page#i should try rereading that book#it's borrowable via the Internet Archive#yeah science!#dove.txt

Hello guys! I know you have already seen her reference sheet but this one is a pretty important post for me as I thought it was about time I dropped some info about her! This is going to be long! So if you are interested you can scroll aaaall the way down!
Here is a bit of "history" of myself, I've been working on Cherusa since 2022 (so I was around 14!) on Instagram and have had a massive improvement despite some big hate around that year that I've received by VERY suspicious people which attacks smelled like racism big time, but those only made me stronger and here I am! The reason I am so prepared is because I already have a fanbase and overall content, but I thought that posting on Tumblr would revive a spark of in me during a bit of a difficult time and it did‼️ the kindness I've received is greatly appreciated!💖
-------------------------------------------
But let's get started! First, I'll introduce you to her personality and backstory! All of the screens are from my toyhouse, I've made it look exactly like an official Wiki page of a DIU/JJBA canon character ‼️💗
Now let's get to her stand: Let's Groove
(yep! It's a reference to Earth Wind & Fire! I thought it would have been so cute to have a more obvious and prominent one next to Mikitaka👁️)
The image is Stand's "eyecatch" I've done completely from scratch! second image is a sketch in my artstyle! (You will definitely see more of it!) so that you get an idea of how the rest of the Stand's body looks like! It's kind of Mecha like on the ""shoes"""👁️
But hey! This isn't the end, unfortunately Tumblr has a limit of 10 images and I stillhave to introduce you to a lot more so make sure to refresh the page to see the next post containing more information😭 (such as character dynamics, trivia and other fun stuff!)

I watched the Lisa episode and youre oh so right, its so good. I loved it
BUT HOOLYY HELL LOCKDOWN WAS SO GOOD. SO SO GOOD. JEESUSSS. The way they pair up the characters. House with the old man. They connected. You can see Post-Mayfield House in this episode.
Thirteen and Wilson. The non-conformist and the People Pleaser
Cameron and Chase finally saying proper goodbyes.
FOREMAN AND TAUB GET FUCJING HIGH FOR SOME REASON??? LMAO??? ironically you get to see the 2 most uptight (imo) members of the crew loosen up
Cuddy and the mother who lost her child, themes of motherhood baybeeee
Thsi episode was awesome. It was funny and sweet and it had great characterization.
The episodes that don't focus on house are so fucking funny, you get to see an outsider perspective in all of his madness. The scene where wilson and cuddy discuss something normal when suddenly houses team goes flying past them with an almost dead patient comes to mind.
Fun fact!!! Lockdown was the first house episode directed by hugh laurie himself!! I just thought it was interesting. But ye everything you said, taub and foreman getting high off vicodin just because is a hysterical prelude to their s7 dynamic (i know that u haven't watched s7 yet. Just mentioning it as something you can look forward to). And House of course...."im sorry i didn't get your case." "Im sorry too". House always tortures himself over the consequences of his actions but theres also something to be said about the consequences of his inaction in this episode. I love it when the show goes out of its way to break its own formula.
Also i read the wiki page about this episode before answering this ask to refresh my memory on it (the wiki is far from perfect lmao but i do enjoy it sometimes). It has some sections that i found myself fascinated by.
Literally like this is it. These are these three characters summed up. I don't have anything else to add.
"Everyone loves you when you are about to die." Funny, because this sounds exactly like something that house would say but also he definitely"loved" this man he knew next to nothing about a lot more when he was about to die than when he had his medical file delivered to his desk.
#ask#house md#sorry it takes me so long to answer asks!!!!!#i really enjoy talking about individual episodes thank u for sending your occasional commentary my way <3#man watching this show when it was airing would have driven me insane fr

Day 3: Konig
Tags: fluff, xtall gn!reader, implied nsfw at the end, inaccurate uniform descriptions, bad German (translation below sentences)
Notes: ・❥・reader's texts are in purple ・❥・indented texts are memories ・❥・dividers drawn by @gomzdraws ・❥・credit to shadeops21 for that one specific shirt described in this fic
a/n: side note, I don't play the game but I did watch the playthrough and ref the cod wiki page. Also remember how I was talking the amount of struggle I did for this fic? its because of the uniform part, can't for the life find out whether Austrian Colonel uniform is red-blue, stone gray or gold, don't even get me started on the insignia XD please if you know what the official uniform would look like lmk in the comment!
●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●○●
Ah great, looks like we ran out of mayonnaise... Konig dear! Where are you?
A few footsteps were heard when you called for him, and within seconds, he was right at the kitchen door, a worrying face evident in his features.
Yes Liebling? What’s wrong?
Ah, nothing much; we ran out of mayonnaise and a few other items for the dinner I’m making tonight. Can you run to the store and get them for me?
Konig nodded as he quietly walked towards you and took your hand gently.
Do you have a list?
Yeah, hold on.
You quickly take out a piece of paper and scribble down the ingredients needed, fold it neatly, and hand it to him. You think for a moment before smiling as you pat his arm.
Grab some dessert on your way home as well, my treat.
You finish by giving him some cash as his eyes brighten up and he chuckles.
Okay, thank you. I’ll make sure to be back as soon as I can, my Liebling.
You give him a peck on the cheek as he wears his hood and wave him goodbye once he goes into the car. You go back into the kitchen and prepare the other necessary preparations, such as seasoning and washing, before wiping your hands clean.
You decided that since there was extra time and you had to wait for Konig to return with the groceries, you might as well do other chores. You head into the master bedroom, which both of you shared, and open the closets, taking out a few of his military suits and laying them on the bed. It had been awhile since you looked through and iron them since most of his outfits are at the base, so it was refreshing to glance back at the series of uniforms he had.
You run your hands along the combat shirt and pants he had before, smiling when you see the clear difference in sizes over the years. He does still like wearing his black tactical Cyre G3 combat shirt, but what you really like is his Colonel uniform.
You lift it up as you examine it closely, tracing over the different badges and insignia sewed onto the uniform. You chuckle when you recall the memory of when he came home in it.
My dear! Wow, look at you all fancy and looking important! You give a whistle and chuckle as you quickly greet him and stare at him excitedly. Ah, please don't, my Liebling, this is embarrassing… Konig said as he quickly undressed and tossed the uniform onto the floor. But you’re the Colonel! Isn’t that, like, a great achievement in the military? Konig didn't reply as he sighed and kissed your hair; he didn't make any more comments about it, and you never brought it up since it bothered him, not until two days later during the late hours. You felt him rolling to your side as he slung his arm around your waist and pulled you close. I don’t like being one; it brings too much attention to myself. He mumbles as he buries his head into your neck, and you nod in understanding after making sense of what he was talking about and cooed him back to sleep.
But it looks so cool.
You thought to yourself as you looked at the collar, lined with delicate gold arabesques, as it shimmered under the light. You give a hum before you let the impulsive thought win and decide to wear it.
Truthfully, you’re also quite tall yourself thanks to your family’s genes, standing proudly at 6 ft tall(185cm), while Konig is just a few more inches taller around 6.6 ft tall(roughly at 200cm). It’s perfect because you can easily kiss his cheek without much effort and watch him blush hard every single time. He’s never gotten used to having someone who can stare at him the way you do so openly and with ease.
You decided that if you’re going to wear something this extravagant, you might as well go full out. So you promptly remove your shirt and wear the uniform carefully. It wasn’t comfortable due to how rigid the cloth felt against your skin, and the pants were a bit longer, but once you glanced at the mirror, you were quite proud and shocked at how good it looked on you, and it fits well, surprisingly. Well, everything except the sleeves. As always, it was also a bit too long and ended on your knuckles, so you just folded them up.
An idea pops into your mind the more you stare at yourself in the mirror.
You give a hum of amusement as you twirl and stretch around, giggling when you decide to imitate your boyfriend. You take a moment to recall the times when you got to watch his demonstration practice and smirk as you start acting alert and put on your serious game face. You hold up your arms in the air as you imagine yourself holding a rifle and mutter in a deep voice.
Target secured, attack the HVT!
You say this before twisting around and making the "pew pew" sound with your hand, giggling and chuckling as you completely get lost in the moment, then you crouch down beside the bed and pretend to resume a hiding position as you mutter softly.
And they say I could never be a sniper.
You make another dramatic "pow" sound before standing up and sliding to the center of the room with a "hyah!" and standing up, glancing around until you notice a tall figure at the bedroom door that you forgot to close. You instantly stop and freeze at your place as a blush creeps up your face.
Having fun, Mein Schatz?
You let out a huff of embarrassment for being caught like this, and you felt your neck heat up as you gave a sheepish smile.
I erm- Konig-
Scheiße, Sieh dich an... Shit, look at you...
He mutters as he slowly walks towards you; each step felt calculative, so slow as you watched his eyes that kept you in place. You can’t glance away, something about his gaze feels hypnotic.
Something about the way he looks at you makes you shutter; it's intimidating but also….primal…which is kind of hot. As he finally stands in front of you, so close that your chest bumps into his, he tilts his head to one side.
I hated this uniform, but now that I see you wear it, hmmmm…
His voice is deep and drawn out as he circles you, almost like a predator studying its prey. You gulped nervously as you tucked your collar in and answered back with a meek tone.
Should I take it off?
He gives you a long thought as he stands behind you. As soon as his hands are on you, he immediately carries and tosses you to the bed as you yelp at the sudden motion.
K-Konig?
You ask as you watch him crawl towards you as he reveals a smirk, then opens his mouth and lazily runs his tongue over his teeth as he gives a deep chuckle.
No, keep it on, because I...will be the one removing it.
You swallow excitedly as you bite your lips and rest your head on the soft pillow, under his mercy as he towers over you.
Who cares about dinner anyway?

the castle of otranto — mini review
so i finished the book and fucking. good lord
it was a fast read but dude even still the pace was absolutely BREAKNECK like there was not a pause for even a SECOND. the description of events was only slightly hard to determine at every now and again, especially given the fact that there are literally No Quotation Marks To Denote Speech so i did find myself rereading pages just to make sure i understand what the fuck is going on, or, more importantly who the fuck is talking.
but i really enjoyed it tbh—it had everything you want or expect from a goth lit and that’s because it’s well, the first one (technically) lmao. you dislike the antagonist from literal jump (fastest corruption arc in history literally only 6 pages and my guy was a Villain), and an honestly interestingly roundabout way it built up the main protagonist. despite thinking it would be isabella at first (which could be a good angle for a reimagining or retelling), i found myself lowkey not favoring her as things went on— not even because she did anything wrong my heart just went out to matilda so hard (cast aside by her father, never desiring love until she suddenly was struck with it, the way she conducted herself in setting theodore free etc etc) and her and theodore i was rooting for… only to have it taken away from and honestly ??? it was really well done i felt awful that they weren’t together in the end but yknow. Doomed by the narrative and all that.
i also really came to care for theodore like he’s everything you want in a hero protagonist of this kind of book. brave, honest, humble, but also ready to throw down LMAO i just wish she actually got licks in on main baddy man the SATISFACTION UGH.
i think my only drawbacks to this book is honestly just like it’s general haste and sort of… lack of focus in explaining anything. while an omniscient perspective is generally fine, it honestly was super confusing to follow at some points bc it was trying to tell me everything about everyone at the same time. while i actually enjoyed the breakneck pacing (it’s such a refreshing change of pace from the literal DRAG that was trilby and it’s 20 page long tangents about FUCK ALL) i kind of wish there was more… focus and more explanation on certain parts. the subject of theodore’s birth was a Really confusing passage to read, and the prophecy segments between manfred and fredric were also like super confusing to follow. it’s never explained why matilda’s mom had her pray at alfonso’s grave every day… though like knowing everything i kind of get why? but i also don’t get how theodore is the True Heir of alfonso? like i’ve read the wiki at this point just to make sure i got everything and i’m still a bit confused so tbh i wish it was just. explained in plainer terms what the fuck is happening.
But this is a book from 1764 so i’m not that upset bc tbh i got most of what happened and i really enjoyed it lol.
overall, 8.5/10 would happily reread it again

Put your money where your mouth is Aidan I want a thematic analysis of the sex scene in Jason X (I have never seen Jason X)
Oh MAN okay so Jason X is, possibly hands down, my favourite bad movie. Its the funniest bad horror sequel I've ever seen. It's got space stations. It's got cryogenics. It's got INCREDIBLY 00s fashion. David Cronenberg, yes, The Cronenberg, specifically asked to be in it only so he could be killed in a very stupid way after 2 minutes of screen time. At one point a guy gets killed by being knocked off a platform onto a big spiral aerial type thing and you watch his corpse corkscrew the whole way down and I laughed so hard i had to pause the movie because I thought I might either choke or piss myself. It's Bad. I love it unreservedly.
That said, it has been a while since I watched it so I am a little vague on the details and have refreshed myself by skimming the Wikipedia page. Tried to rewatch the scene but I am on a bus so my signal is not quite good enough. I will do my best from memory.
The Friday the 13th movies have always had a theme of responsibility of adults and older teens for the kids and teenagers in their care and, by extension, are often thematically full of Having Sex (Ir)Responsibly. The plot twist in the first one is actually really good - Jason is not the killer! Jason is a child who dies in an accident at his summer camp because the counsellors supposed to be keeping watch on him snuck off to shag in the storage room instead. The killer is his mother, seeking to avenge him by murdering the camp counsellors who she catches having sex. It's a core founder of the "if you fuck you die" trope in horror.
How does Jason get so hugelarge and get a machete? No idea. How does he get to space? Doesn't matter. Have I seen any of the other sequels between the original and Jason X? Not clear-headed, though I do vaguely I think remember watching one when I had the flu real bad and fell asleep a bunch of times.
Basic plot, for context: a professor leads a bunch of students to excavate the cryogenically frozen body of Jason and realises that, because he's so big and unkillable, he could definitely sell Jason's body for lots of money and fame to people looking to profit off of eternal youth. Jason awakens, mayhem ensues.
As I remember it, the first sex scene that immediately comes to mind involves a sadomasochistic encounter between a student and a supervisor, heavy overtones of "fuck me for good grades and fame and success". The wiki page doesnt specify this so i MIGHT be getting it confused with another film but it is definitely something I remember noting about it so for the sake of this discussion I'm going to assume I've got that right. Obviously, then, this links to the core theme of "Having sex with people as a distraction from the duty of care you have over people". While these characters are fucking, Jason is waking up, only attended by the students, and beginning his murder day out in space. Again, these deaths could have been prevented if there was a separation kept between Doing Your Job and Getting Some Pussy, and the dynamics of the scene lean into ideas of sex as power and of appropriate vs inappropriate sexual acts. I also seem to remember the younger girl being the dominant participant in the scene which again comes down to some kind of "horror movie punishing Deviant tm sex Specifically" trope, horror as a genre is really preoccupied with presentations and performances of masculine and feminine, male and female, active and passive, and things which blur these distinctions or confuse these binaries are a major focus and source of fascination but are also almost always resolved by either "Correcting" the gender (girl stops being an adolescent tomboy and gets a boyfriend) or destroying it (if you do things "wrong" you die). This is very much a basic summary I recommend Clover's "Her body, himself" for it explained better than I can on a bus with no coffee.
Another heavily sexual scene in the movie is when they try to capture/subdue Jason by putting him in the holodeck and playing a simulation of two hot half-naked young women at summer camp, which distracts him in a paralysis between violence and desire. This echoes the themes of the first film; first, that sexuality is very often a dominant preoccupation for adolescents and young adults and the question of whether it is appropriate to condemn them for having or desiring sex; secondly, that the tension between condemnation and desire can cause impulses to violence, like the far-right leanings in incel groups; thirdly, the cycles of repeating trauma, Jason here wanting the thing that killed him showing that, like his mother, he is playing out the cycles of trauma again. This is all a very psychoanalytic reading which is not at all my usual thing for good movies (read Skin Shows by Halberstam for, again, a much more competent analysis of why psychoanalysis is often reductive when applied to horror) but I think Jason X does lend itself to this lens and, again, busposting from memory not a fully researched essay. Jason then kills them by putting them in sleeping bags and hitting one sleeping bag with another which is on the one hand a reference to the "young women pillow fighting" sexual titillation motif but is, more importantly, absurdly funny to watch.
Like I've said throughout this, it's been almost a year and a half since I watched this film, but I absolutely do think the themes of sexuality are a significant enough part of it to not be dismissed offhand!
#anne i love you so much this was SO fun to write out#my film analysis is about finding seemingly stupid hills and dying dramatically atop them#this took me my whole commute. absolutely perfect start to my day

"The end of a melody is not its goal: but nonetheless, had the melody not reached its end it would not have reached its goal either. A parable."
ADMIN E here, writing one stupidly long love letter to the group ! so this is it, hshq has come to its end. this is a very bittersweet moment but it still feels oddly right. i would have loved to see hshq thrive indefinitely but once every story has been written out, there's not much to expand on. i'm laughing at the fact that we really closed on april fool's day: very poetic, don't you think ? when i think about hshq, i sort of imagine it as this sanctuary that has remained the same at its essence thorough the years. i joined the group as a high school freshman. back then i had bounced from group to group, always losing muse or the group closing before it had even properly even opened. little did i know i'd find myself adminning the group for almost a decade !!!! we've seen so many plotlines and characters, the level of writing in this group has always astonished me. some pieces of writing have even stuck with me and it's been amazing to see how much everyone has matured over the years. one-liners ended up getting forgotten, which was both a good and a bad thing: i liked how every reply had more substance but i was saddened by the fact that easy-going and quick back-and-forth interactions disappeared because of it. i've laughed at the silly threads, funny quips, and awkward interactions. i've genuinely shed a tear or two having read the most heart-breaking or self-loathing texts. i don't know if it's a good thing that i've become so invested in the fictional lives of these fictional royals but i really hope to read how their stories end. it almost feels like saying a goodbye to dear friends.
ADMIN J here, embarrassingly emotional to say goodbye ! when i first joined this group, teen wolf and reign fcs dominated the rpc. starters with no prose, bar the text on gigantic gifs, were horrifically rampant. and, on the opposite side of the spectrum, rarely would you ever see muns over the age of 19 ( imagine being old and writing about a silly little fictional royal ??? ). i never would have pictured that we'd still be here, all these years later, on the other side of it all. many of us weren't allowed to legally drink when we'd first joined, and now we're finishing up degrees and at our adult jobs ?? this makes me sick. it's so insane to think about how much we've all grown in our time with hshq. eve put it perfectly – it's been a sanctuary over so many years and it's brought me such joy to refresh my dash to keep up to date with my favourite otps – and the list is long. the rpc wasn't kind to my timezone, but you guys have made my late nights extremely worth it. from the wild events, to the crazy outfit posts, to angsty paras, and silly one-liners, you've kept me sat. it's been an absolute joy for us, over the past decade or so, to have built a world with such a rich history and complex characters – wiki pages for fictional characters ? i will never not be impressed by the sheer talent in this group. thank you for sharing your stories with us and letting us be a part of it.
ADMIN EVY here and i want to start by saying thank you. i know e and j have already said it but truly the predominant feeling when it comes to this group is gratitude. it was your dedication that kept hshq going for the better part of a decade ( and if you've been here since chambord, pretty much an entire one ). thank you for plotting, not only with me but with each other, this group is unique in a sense that even the tiniest of plotlines ties into a major web and could develop into either a huge dramatic outcome or one of the best inside jokes ever. lawn chairs still make me chuckle sometimes. opening the dash to me always felt like therapy, every single day it left me in awe of your creativity and talent, of the amazing group of writers we managed to collect over the years, the storylines you've created, developed and put into words in the most brilliant of ways. even the silly threads that would get us all opening our laptops at ungodly hours because someone created a funny joke and we all wanted to be a part of it. those are moments i'll remember fondly and actually feel heartbroken that they won't happen anymore. having been here for so long i feel like we didn't just create a little writing community or are a group of people with a hobby and an interest in common, this group really is a little family that i'll cherish forever, regardless if we'll stay in touch after this or not. for eight years you all and this space were a safe haven for us and each other, a lot of times reading your threads was the best part of my day, brought a smile to my face or made my heart ache. we were so invested in these characters that we felt how they felt and that's a product of your talent, your dedication and our bond to you and this group. i will forever be thankful to you all for being a part of this group and staying with us for so long and until now.

It’s been almost 10 years since Words of Radiance was published. It’s been on my TBR pile almost that entire time. My ‘reading brain’, after taking a several year unexpected hiatus, turned back on in Dec 2021. I’m finally at the point that I feel I can read this book (and hopefully Oathbringer and Rhythm of War soon to follow as they are collecting dust on that previously mentioned TBR pile), and give it the attention it deserves. Since it had been so long since I read The Way of Kings, I had to give myself a refresher so that I could recall what happened in book 1. Thank goodness for a detailed fan wiki with chapter summaries. It was also nice as I was reading those summaries, to have my memory supply some details as I went. This is just a long way to say that I’m so glad my brain is letting me read again, and that I’ve regained the joy I used to find in reading enough that a thousand page book doesn’t seem nearly as daunting as it did this time last year. I’ve missed this.

Call & response.
Citron
That is it!
Itaru
Cool, I was really itching to go too. You could just drop by on weekdays any time you like, talk about unbeatable……
Chikage
If you wanted to go so much, you could’ve just taken a paid leave.
Itaru
That’s like, trying to casually pull out a legendary sword out of a stone.
Sakuya
The venue was built by MIZUNO Enterprises in the next town over.
Citron
That is right. It is newly built, and the audience seats were very comfortable!
Tsuzuru
We were on stage at the opening of that venue, right? *
Even though we had the power of Mizuno on our side, I still can’t believe it.
Itaru
That stage really was different from our usual one. It’s pretty refreshing.
Izumi
The re-viewing performance we did before and the White Day Live were both very received……
We often get requests for live performances.
Maybe we’ll have another chance to hold another live together, maybe.
Citron
Yes! I also want to do it!
Sakuya
If that happens, I’ll have to work on my singing again!
Tsuzuru
It also helps when you’re onstage in a musical.
And as an actor, there’s nothing better than being able to sing.
Citron
Of course, singing is important, but that is not all there is to it!
Masumi
More than just the song?
Citron
The fanservice, of course!
I went to the concert as a spectator, I felt the importance of fan support again.
Chikage
Sakyo-san would always tell us to say things like “I would like to thank my fans at….” to thank them for their support.
Citron
Yes! That is why we need to study more about fanservice.
Tsuzuru
You got a point there.
Sakuya
I want to convey how I feel to my fans through various fanservice!
Citron
Like the singer I saw at the concert, you will be more popular if you do stuff in a way that suits your personality while doing fanservice!
Itaru
I get what you mean, the princely type, the energetic type, the cool type and the list goes on.
Citron
Our company members all have different weapons! I am going to start researching on fanservice to take advantage of them!
Sakuya
Chikage-san also puts on a wonderful smile in front of the fans.
Citron
A mature and gentlemanly smile dayo!
Itaru
But, senpai’s also pretty bland.
Chikage
Oi, don’t give such a petty response.
Itaru
How do we add more oomph......
Ah, I got it.
Tsuzuru
I think I’ve got an idea on what it is.
Chikage
I got a bad feeling about this.
Part 2
Itaru
This is why I called you over. This is Producer Sakisaka.
Muku
N-nice to meet you!
Citron
I see, we will be under Muku Productions!
Itaru
Thanks for coming, Muku. We’re researching bout fanservice right now, we plan on using each spring troupe member’s personality to our advantage.
Muku
Wow, each one with a unique fanservice style...... that’s so cool!
Itaru
So, Muku, we wanted to ask for your help in producing a new kind of fanservice that would take advantage of senpai’s sadism.
Muku
If I can be of any help, of course I’ll help you in anything!
A handsome man who is very sadistic... I got it! Please wait a moment!
Masumi
I think he went to get something.
Tsuzuru
Muku knows a lot about shoujo manga, handsome guys and heartbreaking lines, maybe he went to get a book about it to help us.
Izumi
(Chikage-san's fanservice produced by Muku-kun, I wonder that’ll be like.)
Muku
Sorry for the wait!
How about we refer to my shoujo manga!
It’s shoujo manga that’s very popular these days, and it features a really sadistic, handsome guy from the underworld!
Izumi
Oh, I know about it!
There’s even a movie adaptation.
Muku
That’s right.
I’ve always thought that the sadistic hero Byakuran-san is a lot like Chikage-san!*
Tsuzuru
I agree, the vibe is pretty similar.
Sakuya
You’re right!
Chikage
Well, I don’t know, I’m not sure myself.
Citron
This cool bare is awesome!
Masumi
It’s glare, not bare.
Muku
And this line on page 38 of volume 5 has a buzzing great quote in it......! It’s really popular!
How about practicing this line as reference for fanservice?
Chikage
No, I.......
Itaru
If you give it a shot, you might even get some ideas for new fanservice.
Muku
This line is really cool.
I think it’ll definitely suit you, Chikage-san! Please do it...!
Tsuzuru
…... Muku, your eyes are shining.
Chikage
Sigh...... if you look at me like that, how can I not? There’s no way around this, so I’ll give it a try.
Muku
Wow, thank you!
Chikage
Is it the line on this page?
Sakuya
Do your best, Chikage-san!
Itaru
Your move, senpai.
Chikage
“Fuu...... You’re the one who made me get all serious. No matter how much you cry or whine, it won’t reach anyone.”
Chikage
“I’ll chase you to the ends of the earth. Don’t you ever think you can escape me.”
Muku
Wow......!! A heartthrob!
Sakuya
That was so cool......!
Citron
As expected of Chikage! Sadistic lines are perfect for him!
Tsuzuru
No, it’s cool, but......
Izumi
The lines hit and the vibe was perfect, but......
Itaru
Somehow, when senpai’s the one saying the line, there’s like this bloody fear for some reason.
Masumi
It’s not like shoujo manga or a live fanfic.
Itaru
Yup.
Tsuzuru
This is production is a no-go......
Story Clear!
—————T/Ns:—————-
May be referencing Mankai Company doing a live show there at the opening day (A3! White Day event story “Sing Big Thanks!”)
This might be a reference to the character ‘Byakuran’ from the Reborn! Manga/Anime series, if you read his personality section in their fan wiki, you’ll definitely get what Muku means

Please please PLEASE be the sooner end
Story as to what this is and why I'm spending way too much money on it under the cut
SO. I haven't been super active in the Doctor Who fandom like, ever really, but rest assured I've been watching the show and have consumed fan content for it for well over a decade now. I've just never really gotten into the hang of interacting with other members of the fandom much myself. (To be fair being an active member of any fandom is still pretty new to me)
So, naturally, as a result, I wouldn't expect anyone to know this about me, but I am a HUGE fan of The Master. I'm a huge fan of villains in general honestly, any of my followers who followed me for Trinity Blood shitposts can attest to that since I literally never shut up about Cain. (shaped like a son <3)
But, like many other fans who got started with nuwho, my first introduction to The Master was with good ol' John Simm and the Harold Saxon plot. So, naturally, this plot holds a very special place in my heart. Even if Simm!Master isn't my favorite anymore, that doesn't mean I don't still love the round-faced rat man very much and have great nostalgic affection for his first two stories.
So, be me a few months ago, refreshing myself on the contents of that scheme on the wiki, mostly just because I was on the Master's page looking for something I can't even remember at this point and because I have about as reliable an attention span as a wet potato chip has structural integrity I was clicking around on links and going on a rabbithole through the pages. And while I was skimming through the Saxon plot I saw mention of something I certainly didn't remember in the episode. Apparently The Master had given a speech at the school Harold Saxon claimed to have gone to?? And hypnotized a bunch of people and manually implanted memories in some teacher who didn't respond to the hypnosis?? I didn't remember anything about that.
Turns out, it's extended universe content. But while I haven't actually consumed much extended universe content directly (I'm still catching up on NuWho and my ADHD brain won't let me delve into the old series or any EU content until I'm done with that. Brain just said no.), I know a fair few things from it, especially in relation to my boy. Like come on, what kind of Master fan would I be if I didn't even know about him being the Champion of Death, being from house Oakdown, having the school nickname Koschei, like come on. I even know about Mestizer! But I've NEVER heard of this little tidbit before. What speech??? What is this???
Turns out, it's from a short story that was released in 2009. Appropriately titled 'Speech Day'. It was released in a collection of Doctor Who related short stories. But the reason I'd never heard about it before is that while all those other stories have been reprinted in 2015, Speech Day was NOT. The ONLY place to find it is at the back of this short story collection (titled 'The Doctor Who Stories').
Anyway I spent way too much money on this considering the fact that I ONLY want it for Speech Day and don't care about any of the other stories (though I'm sure I'll read them eventually) but my brain made an exception for this piece of EU content based on the sole fact that it seems like it's only gonna get harder to get ahold of as time goes on since it hasn't been reprinted and likely won't be. But it is now en route. :)
Anyone else have Speech Day? Did you like it?
And also just the short story collection in general lol. I mean I bought it solely for The Master content but if I have the book I'm sure I'll read the others too, anyone who's read it have any favorites?
(It's intended to be more of a children's book from the looks of things so that's probably also why I haven't heard much about it. But I'm hardly going to be picky when a whole new piece of content about the plot that first introduced me to The Master drops into my lap lol.)
So yeah this is one of my christmas presents to myself. <3 Merry belated crisis.
#doctor who#the master#simm!master#speech day#also idk why i keep referring to the master as my boy given the fact that missy is my favorite#queen of evil#:)#probably cause im talking about simm!master specifically and he has the nostalgia so he is my boy even if he is not my favorite incarnation#yeah thats probably it

For the record, I’m mildly annoyed at myself for looking at Martin’s wiki page bc I’m pretty sure I read a pretty big Elias identity spoiler there (or somewhere similar - it was really early in the morning so who knows)
the good news is I’ve reached most of the other tidbits I had foreknowledge of so I still don’t know everything
(for the record, I only wanted to know if Martin was gonna die cause I realized I was about to get sunk on a ship and I usually like to know that sort of thing ahead of time in those instances when its characters in a queer relationship)
(I’m still not sure he’s going to live through the end, but it feels like he’ll be around for a while longer)
(I have Concerns about Tim tho so many concerns)
(I skimmed Sasha’s page to refresh myself of plot details related to her and it said she was the first of the original trio to die, which could mean she’s not the last to die, and if Martin will likely continue being alive, then that spells misfortune for Tim)
(altho I’m not quite sure how alive Martin is going to be either cause I got the vague impression that Something is going to happen to him)
the other good news is is that it looks like the last third of Season 5 isn’t going to begin airing until January? So I’ll probably be able to listen to at least the end of tma live, which’ll be nice.
I also at some point want to go back and review/re-listen to what I have so far, so I can let it really sink in but I have apparently zero impulse control when it comes to going straight on to the next episode.

why do you like bain so much. i want all your favorite headcanons. thank you
OH ANON YOU SPOIL ME!
okay fr tho idk why i like bain so much? i think its just because hes always portrayed at this smart but dumb dorky character? like overkill doesnt try to make him some grr evil hardened criminal hes just like. "heres some dubstep. i hired some youtubers to do crime. let me check the meth wiki page" and HONESTLY thats kinda refreshing? bcuz not a lot of games give characters like bain personalitys besides "im tough and evil and i only want money >:("
i could talk for hours but heres my top 3 headcanons. these r gonna be ones i havent seen other ppl post b4? (like that he makes/plays music over the radios, ect) also. im keeping it tldr bcuz i have a lot of fuckin details aight
1. When Bain was younger, he and a few friends had their own small gang where they would do pety theft jobs and whatnot. Most of the gang was either arrested or just dropped out, but Bain always was more daring, even when he had accumulated a large profile of crimes, and was activly wanted by the police. After that he stayed underground for YEARS, even going so far as to fake his own death and created a new identity in order to close the investigation. A few years after that he found himself getting bored with his new life so he decided to start the Payday Gang :)
2. Bain has no idea what to do with money. He probably grew up in a not-so-fiscally-stable environment so when he started stealing and making a lot of money where he could pay bills and live comfortably he was just like.... what now? I feel like he's in the mentality of "yeah having money is nice but also i dont need it?" so he probably donates a lot of it? Idk Bain deleting people student debts and the whole "steal from the rich, give to myself" whatnot gives off a steady "eat the rich!" vibe, so he probably keeps enough personal money to pay his bills, pay his associates, and upgrade his gear and have some for emergencies but after that all the rest of the money goes into the gang or charities
3. I feel like he probably gets bored (and a little stir crazy) so every once in a while he'll scout out a place or conduct his own surveillance. He has a 2nd alias he goes by when doing so, so if he has to deliver a package or smth to the safehouse, he's completely silent (for obvious reasons, though hes never there long enough for a conversation) , but the heisters are like "oh its one of Bains contacts" dropping it off and then he returns back to his apartment. Just so he doesnt go insane staring at a computer screen all day.
thank u 4 coming 2 my TED talk i have a million more things 2 say lmfao
#bainposting#asks#anon#thank u for giving me an opportunity to talk about bain i love u anon#also i have an entire backstory written with that gang when he was younger dont even fucking @ me about it. ...unless?

an interview with sapphictomaz (they/them) what are you working on right now? Right now I’m working on finishing a fic called “toward eternity,” a canon divergence fic that features an immortal Murphy. There’s only one more chapter that I need to write and post, which feels weird, since I’ve been working on this one fic for the past three months or so. It’s been a long process consisting of obsessing over immortality lore and reading old wiki pages to refresh my memory of plotlines from seasons ago, but it’s also been really fun to completely immerse myself in one project. In that sense, I almost don’t want it to end - once the full fic is out there, and it’s all finished, it’s going to be hard to let it go. I’m going to miss it, but I’m also excited for people to read it in all its glory.
what’s something you’d like to write one day? This is tough - I don’t have a well of ideas to draw on. When I get a good idea for a fic, I generally plan and write it right away, rather than dwell on it. I tend to obsess over my ideas, too, so while I’m writing one fic it’s very difficult to think of a plot for another one. Still, I have been toying with the bare bones outline of a mythology au fic, where Murphy would be an exiled & fallen god and Bellamy is an unsuspecting mortal that gets dragged along on his quest to save the universe. This may or may not ever get written, but the idea and universe that goes along with it makes me smile.
what is the fanwork you’re most proud of? Definitely a fic I wrote called “i’d still choose you.” It’s a mythology au where a mortal Bellamy goes on a quest to save his best friend from the Underworld, only to fall in love with cursed demigod named Murphy and save several people’s lives along the way, mostly by accident. I normally write from Murphy’s perspective, but for this fic I wrote from Bellamy’s point of view, which was challenging because I feel less in touch with his character, but I’m really proud of the way he, and the whole universe, turned out. Greek mythology has been something I've loved for years, so it was a lot of fun melding the world of those myths with the world of t100. At the time, it had also been my longest fic I’d ever written, and I got really great feedback on it, so it’s something that makes me smile whenever I think about it.
why did you first start writing fic? Honestly, I think because I daydream a lot. I started writing fic back in 2012 or so, originally for a book series I was reading at the time called “House of Night.” A character was killed off in the series, and I wanted to ‘fix’ that plotline. I originally imagined lots of scenarios in which that character could have lived, and then one day, I sat down and just wrote out one of these scenarios. Literally the definition of “if the author isn’t going to do it right, then I will.” Only after writing that first fic did I realize that this was something other people did, too, and after I read a lot more fic, it gave me the courage and inspiration to post my own. Luckily for me, I’ve gotten a lot of good comments over the years, which makes it easier to keep going.
what frustrates you most about fic writing? I think the expectations around it. I love feedback and interaction with readers, of course, but there have been times when I feel pressured to update and post in a certain time frame, or if updates aren't long enough I feel bad about that, too. That's my own fault, more than anything. I have to remind myself that fic writing is done for free, and the only expectations I have to rise to are my own. If I'm happy, then it works - but often this is easy to forget.
what are your top five songs right now? Capable - the Wild Reeds
Famy - Ava
There’s Still a Light in the House - Valley
Give Yourself a Try - the 1975
First - Cold War Kids
what are your inspirations (books, songs, other fic)? Songs are definitely my biggest inspirations for fics. Almost every single fic I write has its own soundtrack that I listen to while writing. Poetry is also a big inspiration for me. I think a lot of the time, a mixture of both song lyrics and poetry lines inspire me the most. For instance, in my current project "toward eternity," I was heavily inspired by the song "When The Angels Sing," by Social Distortion. I also was heavily inspired by Emily Dickinson's poem "Because I Could Not Stop For Death." The very last line of that poem ("I first surmised the Horses' Heads / Were toward Eternity") inspired the title and general themes. So, it's a combination of listening to songs and reading poems at the same time.
what attracts you to Murphamy? what first attracted you? I think I was attracted to Murphamy because I love Murphy, and I think a lot of Murphamy fans would feel similarly. Murphy's been my favourite character throughout the entire series. When looking at his character arc and journey throughout the show, it's impossible to study it without seeing the impact Bellamy has had on him. Especially during earlier seasons, they've had such a fascinating push-pull dynamic with each other that I love to explore in fic. It was during the cliff scene in 2x04 that I really noticed this - that scene is so ripe with symbolism that I still watch it to get inspired. And, I mean, who doesn't like a good, well-developed enemies-to-lovers?
Besides Murphamy, what’s your favorite ship in t100? Clexa, for sure. I loved Lexa even before Clexa happened, and then when it did, I was so invested in their relationship and dynamic that, five years later, I'm still obsessed with them. Since I mostly write Murphamy, I do my best to include at least a crumb of Clexa in all my fics because I love them so much. Another t100 ship I really love that I wish got more attention is Remori! I think they're really fun together and bring out the best in each other, and most of all, they support and encourage each other to be better. They're a really interesting pair I wish we saw interact more.
how did you first decide you wanted to write for the Chopped challenge? My friend Elle (hopskipaway) introduced me to it, actually! She'd been an active participant before I had ever heard of it, so I started following it through her. I first wrote for the Holiday Exchange challenge, which was really cool. I'd been in fic exchanges before, but I liked that the Chopped element made it so the fics were specifically tailored to what the participants wanted to see. The environment was really encouraging and supportive, which influenced me to sign up for the Chopped March Madness, too, which was lots of fun!
what’s your Chopped! process like? or is it different every round? This is going to sound weird, but honestly, my Chopped process is...not having a process. I read the list of tropes & ships that have to be included, and then I leave it completely alone for at least a day. Generally I form a base idea just looking at the trope list, but even if I don't, I let them ruminate in my head and then after a while, a plot idea comes to me. I think taking a step back from the pressures of a challenge like that allows me to be fully creative, which in the end, results in a better end product.
what are some things you’d like to recommend? There are so many lovely other fic authors out there I couldn't name them all if I tried. Still, some of my all time favourite authors on ao3 are: blueparacosm, hopskipaway, oogaboogu, sadie18, & maunwocha. They've all got lots of lovely writing that I thoroughly enjoy, and I've had the pleasure to get to know them all, and they're lovely people, too. They all deserve the most love and support possible.
as always, I am delighted to interview another member of the popular Murphy-centric fic-writing conglomerate. they all have such different styles and are so excellent in their own way! “toward eternity” is on my weekend reading list to re-read and comment on every chapter, but “you can bloom again” was the first sapphictomaz fic I ever read and remains my favorite. It’s Harper/Clarke and was written for Chopped!, and at the risk of sounding cliched, it’s a very fresh take on both of these characters. Also, a road trip at the end of the world. you can find them on Twitter here, or find them here on Tumblr @lexasheart.

I can’t take Tatiana as a villain seriously. Clare never really treated her character with any respect; her characterization was acting like vapid mean girl throughout her screen time in CWP. Now apparently, she’s “insane” in this next series
Another thing which is a pet peeve of mine: I always hated how Gideon easily casted her aside and ignored that she was also abused and traumatized by their dad.
Hoy boy, did you open a can of worms with this one. When I first started writing this answer, I didn’t know I had so many feelings about Tatiana.
I don’t know what the case will be in TLH but in TID this was pretty much it. Then again, Tatiana also suffered pretty bad from the caricatured villainy similar to some other characters in similar positions.
Tatiana, like her brothers, had a very complicated relationship with their father Benedict. How to accept that the person you’ve always admired, loved and adored isn’t like you’ve always thought? How do you process and handle that, especially when no one extends any form of sympathy or understanding for you. There is never this empathy extended to characters that are not in the main clique. No understanding of how cosmically this could potentially fuck you up. Which is to say, oh, Will is cursed? He can never love again? Well, that’s terrible.
Tatiana lost a chance to know her mother, she lost the father who doted on her and who she loved, lost her husband and saw him being mutilated, lost her home and family assets (for a while at least), and saw her family’s name being dragged through the mud. Everything she had held in respect and adored was all taken away at once. You’d think that would mess with your mind a little bit. She also later in life apparently lost her son, too.
But the narrative always has her, against any sense and logic that I am able to comprehend, doing something completely ridiculously hateful in return. Lost mother and father? Blame Gabriel and Gideon (and who knows for what effing reason). Lost all and everything else too; Blame Gabriel and Gideon for murder (still have no clue as to why). Oh, Charlotte is incompetent head of the Institute? But of course Tatiana thinks so too!
The story has her doing all these bitch-y moves, and I don’t know why. Her motivation is so unclear to me. Is it make sure no one would have to feel bad for her? Is it that others would feel justified for not extending a helping hand to a woman that is clearly falling into pieces under all that she has lost? She sure is a hateful woman, live and let live, but I feel that characters like her often act as scapegoats for everything that goes wrong in the lives of the main clique.
I had to go on her wiki page to refresh my memory a bit. So, there’s this:
“As a child, Tatiana developed a huge crush on the London Institute’s new ward, Will Herondale. At a Christmas party at the Institute, when she was around eleven or twelve, Will found her diary, which contained poems of her love for him and her name, written as “Tatiana Herondale.” Wanting to stop Tatiana from caring for him, he stole her diary and read it out loud in front of all the guests, embarrassing her deeply and infuriating her brothers, Gideon and Gabriel, the latter of whom was so angry that he tried to hurt Will and ended up getting his own arm broken in the struggle.“
I can’t stand deliberately humiliating someone, deliberately being cruel, which is big part the reason why I can’t bring myself to like characters like Will and Jace. They both share this quality where their intentional viciousness, intentional unkindness towards others is, for some odd reason, allowed. I wouldn’t say Clare would admit to this. I think she would deny it by easy excuses and reasons why this isn’t so. She’d cook up a 2,500 word answer as to how Jace isn’t really better than anyone else. He’s human too, you know. Chipped tooth and all.
Yet the narrative, even here in this excerpt, is that Will comes out as a “winner” in the sense that not only did he got to humiliate this girl that just so foolishly likes him, he also gets to break the arm of a brother who would only have defended his little sister from this humiliation. Humiliation after humiliation, and no one ever goes and says, “Hey, Will. That was a dick move. Apologize.”
As if there is never any recognition on any wrong doing that needs to be somehow amended. No guilt for doing wrong by the “right” people. As if it is justified as long as it is the right kind of people that are being put into that position. Anyone of the London Institute would surely know that Will’s attitudes and behavior aren’t acceptable but no one really does a thing about it or reprimands him because they just know Will is, deep down, gold at heart and a loving person.
This also never happens to characters that are the main ones. No one gets to humiliate or win over Jace, Julian, Emma, Jem, or Will. They always have a convenient come back for any given situation, a trump card that makes anyone opposing their side look like a fool. (Also the characters that try are written like Zara and Tatiana). This is also what infuriates me with Jace and Alec’s relationship, when Alec has justifiably become angry and tries to communicate that to Jace but somehow Jace’s angst and I-have-experienced-all-and-know-everything-about-life nihilistic bullshit always trumps that. They constantly invalidate what others are feeling. And it’s okay because they are the Good Guys and know what’s up.
Tatiana is actually pretty complex character but her motives are sort of left open. Explaining everything away with some form of “insanity” is just insulting. Tatiana’s situation is sort of similar to her brothers, though Gideon seems to get a pass since he became enlightened about his father on his own once he saw The Outside World. Gabriel is given harder time because he still loved, believed and respected Benedict. But Tatiana never grew out of Benedict’ manipulation, and Gideon basically said, fuck her. I don’t know is it because he just knew she was a lost cause but Gabriel wasn’t.
Still, pretty effed up, my dude, to not even give a good try for your sister. Dropped her like a hot potato because she’s difficult. Uuuugh, I don’t know anymore. Sometimes I feel like I’ve said it all, poured out my feelings on this, and yet here we are again :’Dd

Zi-O 48-1: In which I surrender and watch the raw.
So, it’s been a few days, and I know that the subbers have their own lives and whatnot, but… I can’t safely go on tumblr until I see this, because I follow a lot of Rider blogs, and have the Zi-O tag tracked, and i’ve got friends talking about this…
So I’m caving and watching 48 without subs. It’s been a long while since I’ve had to do this!
Enjoy eleven and a half pages of me being a nerd over a children’s tv show, that I can’t even properly understand.
(EDIT: SHIT SORRY I THOUGHT I”D PUT THE READ MORE IN THERE)
–––– ––––
Actually, first, I watched 47 again, to refresh myself, and noticed something. Not only did Tsukasa do the hand pose from the Zi-O promotional material when he transformed, but so did Daiki as Another Zi-O II.
The main difference is that Daiki used his pointer and middle finger – because he’s the second form.
It’s the little touches.
––––
We pick up exactly where we left off last time – with Tsukuyomi, Sougo, Daiki, and Decade finding htemselves surrounded by mooks and monsters from heisei riders past. Mirror monsters, makamou, masquerade dopants, yummys, dustards, ghouls, inves… so Ryuki, Hibiki, Double, OOO, Fourze, Wizard, and Gaim are gone. The meteors, and skywall say that Kabuto and Build are, too. Adding in the roidmudes we saw with Chase, that makes ten out of eighteen watches broken. I say eighteen because we’ve obviously still got Zi-O, and Decade is literally right there, having reclaimed his watch.
We get Tsukasa repeating – or, rahter, we re-see Tsukasa saying that he’s going to destroy the world… Not right at this moment, though. They should get going.
It looks like Daiki takes off in a different direction from the other three.
––––
Amid the scenes of people running, there’s a ganma mook… and Revol, along with people colappsing, static crackling across their bodies. That’s the Ghost and Ex-Aid watches done for, then.
––––
Geiz and Woz run along a rooftop, but immediately become a book image – we’re going pretty much right into the recap. Now, of course, I don’t speak Japanese, but I can get the gist of what he’s saying. Basically, there’s copious fighting, the time-space continuum is falling apart, and the world is ending because of Swartz.
There are two pages left.
Woz is looking off into the middle distance as he says this.
––––
… I don’t think I really expected that they’d update the OP again, this late in the game, but…
That doesn’t change that it kind of hurts to see Heure and Ora still be there.
––––
At 9-to-5, Tsukasa is being interrogated- I mean, is getting everyone onto the same page.
Ehh… let’s see… Basically, he’s saying that more and more of the other Riders are being… I don’t know, more completely erased? Like, the watches held their stories in stasis, like bookmarks, and now that they’re breaking, parts of those stories are escaping out.
Tsukuyomi mentions the wall and the tower – namely, Fuuto Tower, as opposed to Yggdrasil, which kind of bothers me. See, even if this weren’t all one Rider world, Fuuto Tower would have no reason to not exist. It’s just part of the city. Yggdrasil, on the other hand, was built explicitly to deal with the encroaching Helheim Forest and you know what it’s not that big a deal, because the multipleworlds thing bugs me even more than that.
…Although, since they’re apparently sticking with the outdated “every rider is his own world” method, which has basically never been true, with the exception of Decades ARs, I suppose it could make sense to have both towers appear. Fuuto and Zawame are different cities, and most Rider seasons are set in Tokyo. That would account for the Skywall, as well – it’s from a different world. That’s the best way to show ‘things aren’t where they should be’ - to have landmarks from parallel worlds and different cities all appearing in the same place.
Tsukasa explains that Swartz has been using Sougo for his plans since he (Sougo) was a young boy. He pulled him to that ruined future, and gave him the time powers there. Then he set him on the road to gathering the powers of all the Kamen Riders – thus consolidating them into one complete form. Namely, Grand Zi-O.
…Okay, the multiverse thing still doesn’t pan out, here. If they were all in different worlds, then Sougo couldn’t have met them! They specifically said once, during Shinobi, that the Time Mazines can’t go to different timelines – which would presumably include different realities along with it. So, the people that Sougo met couldn’t have been riders anyway, regardless of his interference.
…Wait. Unless Swartz is actually pulling the assorted AR worlds together – by removing the ‘original’ or ‘main’ versions of the Riders, he removes the potential for there to be alternate versions of them. So the Shinji who worked at Atashi Journal, the Wataru who was a small child, high schooler Takumi, and so on… none of them can exist, because the Shinji from Ore Journal, the Wataru who was an adult, dry-cleaner Takumi, and so on were never riders.
I mean, I don’t know if that’s where they’re actually going with this, but it’s a good theory, right?
I can still try to make sense of this, right?!
ANYWAY.
Sougo’s despairing over the fact that all of his fights have been playing right into Swartz’s hand, and I think that Woz is trying to reassure him? I’m not sure – I can’t make out any of what he’s saying there.
Geiz asks what they can do now.
“I already told you. I’m going to destroy the world.” Tsukasa sets down the mug he’s been holding this entire time. “This world is already lost. However… there might still be a way to save it.” He looks pointedly at Sougo.
Sougo pauses, and says that he understands, bringing up the ‘choice’ that Swartz told him about.
“Tsukuyomi’s path, Sougo’s path, or the path to Oma Zi-O.”
…Ah, man, I can’t tell what they’re saying now. I’m not sure what Sougo’s implying that he’s planning, but Tsukasa seems at least somewhat satisfied. The fate of the world counts on this.
––––
There’s a breif shot of the watch stand. It’s empty.
––––
Sougo stands in front of the wall of clocks, looking at them. It’s eerily similar to a shot in the opening… hang on.
Okay, no, he’s in a different outfit. In the opening, when Sougo reaches towards the wall of clocks and spins it backwards, he’s in a mint green shirt and tan pants. Here, he’s in dark green with white-and-black pants. But also? He’s just a little bit taller.
In the opening, he’s dwarfed by the wall, with the counters and everything else seeming to be so much larger than they really are. He’s not the one who’s really in control. The situation is so much bigger than he is.
But now? He fits perfectly. He’s coming into his own, both as a rider and as a person. He’s not holding the image of an idea that is so much more than he is anymore.
Sougo smiles as he looks at the assortment of clocks, saying that it’s time to head out. The acoustic guitar version of Over Quartzer starts to play.
Tsukasa – the only other person present – tells him to wait. There’s… he says something about either how there’s a lot of people involved, or there’s a lot of people counting on this, or that are at risk. Maybe he should be the one to carry out this plan-
Sougo cuts him off. It has to be him. He tells Tsukasa to listen. He’s been ready for this since he put on the belt. Or… maybe… he’s always been destined for this moment.
Tsukasa looks… I don’t know what that is. Surprised? A dull form of surprise or shock, that he wasn’t sure if this young man would actually be willing to pull this off?
Sougo does seem to have one small regret though, in that he doesn’t get to tell his uncle. He picks up a note off the counter.
…Junichiro has terrible handwriting. Holy shit. Like, that’s damn near illegible – I’m lucky that it’s just enough that I can tell he signed it, via using the Rider Wiki having his name. Given the preview from the last episode, I’m assuming he went out to the store? Maybe?
––––
In a plaza, Tsukuyomi is attempting to help people escape the assorted mooks, shooting with her Faiz Phone X and instructing them to run. Woz, meanwhile, is sitting and watching, like an absolute tool. She’s pissed at him, and basically yells that he can help out any time now, thanks!
“Okay, okay, fine…” He gives the single most put upon sigh as he transforms into Ginga Finaly.
––––
Geiz is in a construction area, beating mooks off of people with a literal pipe, until Swartz shows up, apparently taunting him.
Cue Revive Fury versus Another Decade.
––––
Junichiro is screaming as he’s being approached by two Waste Yummys and the Bison Yummy.
Oh, judging by the box with the shops logo, he wasn’t out shopping, he was making a delivery.
“LOOK OUT!”
Zi-O blocks the Yummy, shoving them away from his uncle – notably without saying anything else to Junichiro.
Why is that notable?
Because Junichiro’s next line is “…Eh? Sougo-kun?”
Me, crossing my fingers as Zi-O prepares a finisher: please have known all along please have known all along or at least have caught on at some point please
Zi-O, having finished the monsters off with a Time Break – don’t think I didn’t see those little circles flying off of them as they exploded, Toei, I saw those cell medals there – storms up to his uncle. “Uncle, are you an idiot? Why did you go out at a time like this!?”
“Sougo- that was- just now-”
Zi-O drops his transformation… and Tokiwa Sougo bows low to his uncle, apologizing.
“Uncle… I’m sorry. I wanted to tell you… the truth is, I’m a Kamen Rider.” As he straightens back up, the piano version of Toki no Ouja starts to play. Junichiro is speechless as Sougo continues. “It’s a power that I’ve been using to fight, in order to protect everyone.”
Junichiro doesn’t seem to know what to say, just asking if this is how he’s being a king.
Sougo… supposes that’s true. But he has to go, so that he can save everyone. He just wanted to tell his uncle first.
Junichiros response? “I can’t do much, I just fix clocks. But you… You’ve got such a responisibility. Go. Have a safe trip.”
I don’t think Sougo expected him to react this well, he probably expected that his uncle would try to stop him, or protest in some way, at least. But really, clearly Sougo hasn’t been paying attention. Junichiro barely batted an eye at the Imajin asking him to fix the Denliner. This isn’t much of a stretch at all.
“I’m headed out.”
Junichiro kind of looks like he’s about to cry as Sougo runs off – tears of worry and of pride.
Sougo runs down the partly ruined street, as his Time Mazine zooms down in the ship mode.
––––
Sougo is in the cockpit of the Time Mazine, which is barely lit by dark blue light.
“One last trip through time…”
He looks at the display, set for 2068.
“Time-space system, activate!”
Time Mazine!
The machine zooms through the time tunnel, off into the future.
––––
Geiz, in a very ruined stairwell, fights a whole slew of mooks as Another Decade watches. He gets knocked down a few flights, and can’t get back up due to all the mooks who are basically on top of him.
Right up until Decade shows up to knock them away.
I can’t tell what they’re saying, but Geiz sounds really surprised that Decade’s still here.
They start fighting their way back upstairs together.
––––
Woz and Tsukuyomi are fighting against another set of mooks, in the same plaza they were in earlier.
Eventually, Woz calls down a bunch of mini planets to destroy the mooks and a Violence Dopant, because of course Ginga can do that. This might as well happen.
A bat-type Roidmude appears, advancing on Tsukuyomi – before Mashin Chaser flys in from nowhere, tackling it down, and quickly dispatching it with the Spider Viral Core’s Tune attack.
He then immediately falls to his knees, clutching at his head, before dropping his transformation. His hand shakes as he wonders why he just saved a human.
Woz, being far too flippant for my robo-lad’s current existential crisis, hops down from the steps. “It’s quite simple, Chase. According to this book, in the original timeline, you, too, were a Kamen Rider.”
“I’m… a Kamen Rider?” Chase looks at his shaking hands, and we get another flashback. (Toei no don’t break my heart like this…)
––––
Chase, in a warehouse, water pouring from a broken pipe. He holds up a shift bike, determined.
Kamen Rider Chaser stands under the pouring water after his first transformation.
––––
Chase roars in denial, slamming his Break Gunner to activate it.
Break up!
Mashin Chaser yells. He’s a GRIM REAPER, damn you!
(Toei, NO! Don’t break my heart like this!)
He brutally starts attacking Woz.
––––
2068, in front of the statue commemorating the first transformation of Tokiwa Sougo.
…Oh, now that’s interesting. The other times we’ve seen this particular statue, the riders weren’t posting at all – they were just standing, looking somewhat down. Right now, though?
Each and every one of them is doing their post-transformation pose.
Interesting.
So’s Sougo’s comment, which I think is ‘The most important person in the world…’
Sougo’s arrived at a point where there’s a smaller fight between the resistance and Oma Zi-O. It’s not that final stand we saw in the first episode, with the copious time mazines – the battlefield isn’t nearly large enough to be that one. But Geiz and Tsukuyomi are both there, both shooting at Oma Zi-O; her with the Faiz Phone X, and him with a machine gun.
People are being injured/killed left and right. Sougo goes to Tsukuyomi, who’s just been knocked down, asking if she’s alright.
He slips a blank ridewatch into her pocket.
I’m not sure what Geiz is yelling at them, but I’m pretty sure it’s something about ‘if you’re not going to fight, then get out of here!’
Tsukuyomi seems to feel the same, telling him to hurry up and run.
His expression stoic, Sougo tells them that they should hurry and get out. He’ll take care of this.
He pulls out his Ziku Driver, and the Zi-O Ridewatch as Tsukuyomi, Geiz, and the handful of resistance members look on.
“HENSHIN!”
As Kamen Rider Zi-O strides forward to face off against his future self, Geiz and Tsukuyomi are stunned. They know that armor and transformation, even though they’ve not yet met him properly in person.
––––
Oma Zi-O and Kamen Rider Zi-O stand across from each other, in that same valley where they’ve fought twice before. Or, where Sougo’s fought him before, and Oma may or may not have been on the current side yet. Time travel, yanno.
Oma says… er, basically that his younger self has no hope of defeating him.
Sougo… he says that that may be true. That this may really be his future.
Even so… he still has to try.
He pulls out his gun – his gun, not his sword – and fires, charging at Oma.
I’ve said before that Sougo almost never uses the gun form, and it’s true. All of his upgrades exclusively gave him a sword. The gun is only ever used for strategic purposes – Sougo doesn’t usually fight at a distance, he’s much more of a close range combatant. This only serves to make the fact that he pulls it out as the gun form all the more unusual.
Each shot is blocked by little mini forcefields that Oma raises for each individual blast, before Sougo is finally close enough to switch into the sword. Each strike is blocked, before Oma shoves him backward with waves of orange and black energy.
Sougo – still in base form Zi-O – lands, and as he pushes himself up…
“Let’s go.”
He pulls out the Trinity watch.
––––
2019
Geiz Revive Fury and Decade versus mooks and Another Decade.
They’ve made it back out into the open, and quickly dispatch the assorted mooks, leaving the two riders and the single villain.
Swartz… ugh, I can’t make it out, but I think he’s saying something about how they can’t stop him, the world’s already finsihed.
Both Geiz and Tsukasa say that’s not true. There’s something about Tsukuyomi in there – either they’re saying that it’s not Swartz’s world to take, it’s hers… or that they’re choosing her. They’re not choosing this world, they’re choosing Tsukuyomi’s.
Or they’re saying nothing of the sort, because I just can’t pick out enough words that I recognize to be sure at all.
Regardless, Swartz screams in rage, and starts wailing on the both of them, before knocking them both down. Aiming for Geiz, he charges his copy of Tsukasa’s rider kick – card images and all. They’re eerily accurate, too. They’ve got the exact Decade logo on them, but they’re black and dark purple, instead of the lighter magenta that Tsukasa would have.
It doesn’t matter, anyway. As Another Decade passes through the last card-
A yellow beam of light shoots from the sky, and warps Geiz away.
––––
Tune! Chaser Cobra!
It doesn’t matter, anyway. As Mashin Chaser’s whip attack reaches Woz’s location-
A green beam of light shoots from the sky, and warps Woz away.
Growling, he turns to Tsukuyomi.
––––
Trinity time!
Sougo, in the Trinity Cockpit, smiles a little as Geiz and Woz appear. “Oh, good, it worked.”
I don’t think they were sure it would.
Woz, appearing as an overlay on his shoulder, says that they’ve made it to 2068.
Geiz, doing likewise, says something about Oma Zi-O.
Sougo, no overlay in sight, says that in any case, it’s time to fight.
Trinity charges at Oma Zi-O, wielding Zi-O II’s sword.
––––
2019
Kamen Rider Decade dusts off his hands as he stands up. Time for Decade Versus Decade.
Swartz almost laughs at that. You think he’s only got Decade’s powers?
He freezes Tsukasa in time. His own power is even stronger. As he advances on the frozen Tsukasa, he’s frozen, himself.
Kamen Rider Diend strolls up, one hand outstretched. “Oh, you mean the power you gave little ol’ me?”
Decade’s fight music starts to play as Daiki straight up whacks Another Decade with his gun, breaking both magenta men out of their paused states.
As they stand next to each other, Tsukasa has to be rolling his eyes under that helmet. “Took you long enough.”
“Let’s go, Tsukasa.”
Kamen Riders Decade and Diend – Kadoya Tsukasa and Kaitou Daiki – attack Another Decade in unison.
––––
2068
KING GIRI GIRI SLASH!
Trinity slams his slash attack down on Oma, but said overlord just pushes the energy to the side. They rush him, bringing the sword itself down on him, and when he blocks it with his crossed arms, a ring of dustclouds explode around the combatants.
Trinity forces the sword down, before abruptly yanking if off of where he’d been pressing it against Oma, using the loss of that resistance to throw Oma Zi-O off balance, and pointing the tip of the sword at his torso. Under the helmet, Sougo at minimum is grinning.
Trinity Time Break-Burst-Explosion!
A beam of attack power pushes out from the sword, blasting Oma Zi-O back into the cliffside, where he leaves a massive impact crater before falling to the ground.
He asks where his younger self found this sort of power.
Sougo’s answer? It’s not his power. It’s his friends power.
In the cockpit, we see the three standing side by side, their sections of the faceplate behind them, but they aren’t in a circle around the clock, or in divided screens. They’re all on one visual plane.
According to Sougo, and my very limited understanding of what’s being said, because I don’t recognize most of this… there’s more than one path to take. He’s not taking the one that leads to Oma Zi-O. He’s taking the one that he’ll make with his friends.
Oma Zi-O seems to find that interesting, and says that Sougo’s… what, fighting for his friends sake?
And I’m not sure what just happened, but Geiz doesn’t know what Oma’s talking about either, and Woz tells Sougo to be careful…
Right before the Trinity transformation ends, leaving only Sougo standing in front of Oma Zi-O.
Just Sougo, without any armor.
He’s not even wearing his belt.
He also doesn’t look surprised, or concerned. Just angry.
––––
2019
Woz reappears right where he left from, in his civilian attire, and looking confused. Tsukuyomi is nowhere to be seen.
––––
Geiz appears right where he left from, in his civilian attire, and looking both confused and frustrated. Decade and Diend are still fighting Another Decade, and getting kicked around a fair bit, before Swartz scoffs, and says that Tsukuyomi is his to… uh, I think kill is the word here.
He dimension-walls himself out of there, and Geiz curses.
––––
2068
Tokiwa Sougo stands across the field from Oma Zi-O.
“Now what? You’ve sent your friends away, and what for?”
There’s no background music, just the sound of the wind.
Sougo stays calm. “That’s because I’m not here to fight you. But… I’m still going to defeat you.” He starts to walk forward. “Tell me, what is the power of Oma Zi-O?”
Oma Zi-O looks a bit to the side. “It’s the power to destroy space and time.” The orchestral version of Toki no Ouja starts playing. I can’t quite make out the next part of Oma’s answer, unfortunately. Something about Swartz’s granting him time powers, and his own powers over space, and those combining. I think.
Sougo responds that the two of them – himself and Oma – aren’t the same.
Oma… agrees. I think, and says that he looks forward to seeing the world Sougo will make, before sending him back in time.
A muscle twitched in Sougo’s otherwise expressionless face – the ghost of a smirk trying to make it’s way through.
Oma Zi-O looks up, a note of resignation in his voice. “That’s it, then.” He makes a small noise, almost like a laugh… and says something about… I think it’s that ‘this is what he can do to help.’
He raises one hand to the sky, firing motes of golden light out.
––––
As the other members of the resistance continue retreating, Geiz and Tsukuyomi stop. I’m not sure what they’re saying, but it’s something about how that guy was strange, that he must have had some sort of plan.
Motes of golden light pass over them, and a pink light comes from Tsukuyomi’s pocket, seeming to shock her physically to make sure she notices.
The ridewatch Sougo had slipped her glows white, but quickly fades… and it’s still blank.
… the one that kept making its way to Sougo in episode one stayed blank for a long time, too, right up until he showed the resolve to fight.
––––
2019
Tsukuyomi reaches a different plaza, still running from Mashin Chaser. She begs him to stop, she knows he has a human heart!
He just yells that he doesn’t have a heart, he’s a Roidmude- but he freezes up. He can’t move. It’s not the time powers in action – it’s that he’s seized up. Like one part of his programming is stopping him from moving, from lowering his arm and pressing the trigger. There’s a very deliberate shot of his hand holding the break gunner, finger raised.
Swartz – as Another Decade – comes up. “That’s enough. She’s mine… Finally, little sister…” He goes to attack her, but-
Chase stops him, rushing up and grabbing his arm, shoving him back. He may not be human, may not have a human heart, but. But the human heart is the most beautiful thing there is!
He goes on the offensive – against Swartz.
But Chase tends to get sloppy when he fights with his emotions running high. It’s simple enough for Swartz to redirect his straight charge with a pair of dimension walls, placing Chase behind him and charge-kicking the Roidmude in the back, sending him staggering. I can’t tell what Swartz says, but it’s definitely an insult to Chase – as a Kamen Rider.
Chase staggers backward, his transformation breaking. He starts to fall to the ground, but Geiz catches him…
(Toei… no… don’t… don’t break my heart like this…)
Purple arcs of electricity cross Chase’s body as Geiz holds him.
“You… were right. I really am… a Kamen Rider…”
Geiz’s face is partly hidden in his collar. “You’re more than that – you’re a friend.”
Geiz – who only met Chase today, who probably only knew him as a hero from what Gou may or may not have said during Over Quartzer, and from his actions right now – is telling Chase that they’re friends.
“That’s… nice. That even now… I’ve made another human friend…”
(Toei. No. Don’t. Don’t break my heart like this.)
Chase glows a light purple, and dissolves into motes of purple light, leaving his core floating, before it, too, dissolves.
(I, a Drive fangirl, and particularly a Chase fangirl, am going to have to bury my face in a pillow when I’m done here.)
Geiz can’t talk. He’s too stunned by what just happened – he’s trying not to cry, I think.
Swartz advances on Tsukuyomi. Now that that little distraction’s over with, it’s time for her to die.
She backs up, terrified. Time feels like it slows down. Not, like, the type in this show where it actually does, just the muted, echoing effect of a single moment.
“TSUKUYOMI!” Sougo runs towards the scene. “THE WATCH!”
“Eh?”
“THE ONE I GAVE YOU!”
Confused, she reaches into her pocket, and pulls out a blank ridewatch – that very shortly isn’t blank anymore.
It’s white, with a mask, and the year ‘2068’ written on it.
Woz comes in from the other side, still at a distance. “Go! Tsukuyomi!” He throws her something.
Tsukuyomi catches a Ziku Driver.
Sougo nods, certain. Geiz looks confused as all get out. Woz looks like he’s hoping this will actually work.
She puts on the belt, and raises the watch, turning it.
“Tsukuyomi!”
Techno standby music plays as she places the watch in the driver, and spins it.
“Henshin!”
A gorgeous transformation sequence later…
Clad in a black undersuit, with white armor and gold accents, with a cresent moon-shaped visor, and a gold-trimmed cape and side-skirt…
Kamen Rider Tsukuyomi makes her appearance.
––––
The closing screen is Geiz Revive at the bottom, Trinity at the top…
And Tsukuyomi in the center.
––––
The preview for the final episode… and it’s a battle theme playing, not Over Quartzer.
Grand Zi-O versus Another Decade.
A brief flash of Kamen Rider Tsukuyomi.
A splitscreen shot. Kamen Riders Grand Zi-O, Double CycloneJokerXtreme, Wizard Infinity Form, OOO Tajador, and Gaim Pineapple Arms are on the top.
On the bottom… okay, so, I have no idea who most of these villains are. There’s Gamedeus in the center, and Evolt to the far end, but the others? Not a clue.
Over top of that, and the two groups starting to fight, we hear Sougo practically growling, saying ‘I have the power of all the Riders.’
Flashes of Tsukuyomi and Woz, as themselves, looking concerned. At this point, they add in a subtitle disclaimer saying that Zi-O is fiction. (Thank you, Google translate for my phone, which allows me to hold it up to a screen and get an idea of what’s written.)
A quick shot of Oma Zi-O on his throne, his face obscured – and text implying that we’re going to get to see his face!
Someone – either Oma Zi-O or Swartz, because they sound really similar when Swartz is Another Decade – saying something about… I don’t know, that this is his battle? I think?
But that’s played over the previous two sequences, and a sequence of Sougo, openly weeping, holding a very injured Geiz, who’s going limp.
Then, Sougo standing, furious… and then him activating the belt that Oma Zi-O wears.
In a defeated voice, “I’ll become Oma Zi-O…” and then, in that same growl as earlier, “HENSHIN.”
The final shots are two angles of Oma Zi-O. In armor. And in the present day.

sometimes i need to clear my mind of my aus and just write whatever comes to mind to get rid of a writing block. so uh heres some ancient greek joetrick for all your ancient greek joetrick needs
since i only rlly wrote this for myself u might need to uh. look up a few things in there to really understand whats goin on. there was a lotta wiki pages consulted in writin this bad boy and thats cuz its all 4 me babey
Joe stepped back into the city after a whole month away, his knapsack feeling heavy on his shoulders. He was really just glad to be back, and even the commotion was refreshing. Leaning against a fence was a beautiful boy in a long chiton, a wreath of laurel adorning his head. In one hand was a cup, and the other held a piece of bread; by the time the boy looked up, Joe was only a few paces away, so the boy set down his cup, stepped over, and hugged him. “Ah, I missed you so much!” Patrick said, barely leaving time to swallow his bite before speaking. “How was it, being a real soldier?”
“Oh, it was wonderful! We won, too.”
“I heard, I heard! I was quite worried about you, you know.” Patrick leaned away, his spare hand placed on Joe's shoulder. The boy gave a quaint smile. “You're still as handsome as they day we first met.”
“And I doubt you've listened to a word I've said since then, you're so enthralled,” Joe teased. He put a hand on Patrick's back and pulled him into a small kiss—Patrick pushed him away and giggled after a few moments, then unfastened Joe's chlamys and pulled it around himself instead. He struggled with the button, then looked over Joe with half-lidded eyes.
“Ah, you've got a tear in your chiton, Joe,” He said, pressing a fingernail against part of Joe's chiton. “I think it's got to be taken off once we get home, don't you agree?”
Joe laughed, swatting his hand away. “We'd better get back soon, then,” He said, finding the tailor's hand. “I know your more interested in looking through my bag than anything.”
“Well, now that you mention it, I think I am.”
They headed off towards Patrick's house. “Well, Patrick, I'm eager to hear about your time without me. How about the little scar on your nose?”
The boy giggled, taking a swift bite of his bread. “I went to the forest—” He started, taking a moment to swallow. “I was worried about you getting hurt, and I was worrying and worrying, so I took my bow and a quiver of arrows and I went up Mount, ah, Parnassus. Not all the way to the temple, mind you, but I found a nice clearing somewhere halfway up the mountain and I made a fire and readied my bedroll and I asked out, for Apollo and Nike and Athena, to keep you safe, and—and Joe, when I woke up, you know what happened?”
“No, I don't. What happened?”
“Well, none of them spoke to me, perhaps because I didn't go to the temple, but! When I woke up, a deer was standing over me. I'm willing to bet that, that if that wasn't Apollo, it was surely Artemis. That'd make sense, hm? I had the bow, and I've heard she comes to people on dreams as a deer. Perhaps Apollo does, too, I'm willing to bet that's right. The deer let me pet her—ah, she didn't have antlers, it was likely Artemis—she let me pet her, and then galloped off.” Patrick sighed, as if he were reminiscent. “I also saw what I thought must have been centaurs, but it was far off, so it was probably just a few wild horses.”
Joe smiled at him. “Thank you for the blessing, then. How'd you get the scar, though?”
“Ah! I tripped while hiking up and fell into some rather bad brambles and it cut my nose badly. That's all.” They stepped into Patrick's shop, then headed into the back rooms, the parts they considered to truly be home. “Do you like the Ionic chiton, Joe? I had a few orders done in this style while you were gone, and the Apollo statue at the forum wears one, so I felt I had to see why people liked them so much.”
“I think,” Joe began, grabbing Patrick's arm and taking him in the direction of his bedroom. “That you'd look much better without it.”
Patrick laughed. “I think I might see where you're coming from, my darling.”
