You being shy is probably one of his favorite qualities you offer! He never feels awkward around you, your quiet presence is company enough.

Sanji was actually (and ironically) the first guy you began to get close with before anybody else when you first joined because he allowed you to sit and read while he cooked. The background noises of the kitchen soothed you in a way.

He was still a simp. You being more closed in DIDNT stop him from having his outuburst here and there, but he learned to calm down (JUST A TINSEY BIT) when he learned about your shy nature.

He always keeps his kitchen open for you alone when you’re feeling too overwhelmed from the chaos of the crew

You’re similar to Franky in terms of building things to help with the crew, so having that time with no distractions helped you plenty to improve even as a thank you to the fellow you you built him his own personal lighter

It wasn’t the moment he fell in love with you, but it was definitely the moment he needed to claim you as his so he asked you out.

Sanji is very considerate to your shy nature, he tries not to put you in situations where you’ll feel awkward or uncomfortable.

He also finds it absolutely adorable when you immediately gravitate to him when you get nervous. His hand with always be free for you to hold on to

Sanji kind of started to get a need of wanting to take care of you more and nearly baby you so beware of that if you don’t like it.

All in all 12/10 boyfriend. He wouldn’t change a thing about you.

Luffy

You are the yin to his yang💀

Yall couldn’t be more different. But it was okay.

Luffy is Luffy and Luffy gets along with almost everybody.

It was kind of odd to see how closely you and the rambunctious captain got but he paid no mind to it.

You don’t talk unless spoken to and you keep to yourself alot and somehow that pushed Luffy to be more in your business?

You didn’t mind it, but sometimes it would startle you to look up and see his body squatting on the take beside you trying to peek at your drawings.

“What are you doing?”

“Can i see?”

“You should have drawn our flag!”

“Usopp can draw too!”

“You should redraw Sanji’s bounty poster!”

Everybody BUT Luffy could see how uncomfortable he made you sometimes, and after a slap and kick from Sanji and Nami they told him to lay back a little.

Which he tried.

He didn’t care about your shy nature, for some odd reason it made him gravitate more to you so now he taps you.

Alot.

He taps you when he wants to talk.

He taps you when he wants your attention.

He taps you when he wants to hear you speak.

One day Luffy did his daily tap of your cheek and plopped his hat on your head to watch you draw again, but today you wanted it to be a surprise.

“Heyyy! Lemme seee!”

You kept ignoring him until he started to whine like a baby and that’s when you handed him the picture.

It was a drawing of Luffy’s dream he told you all about a fee days go.

His eyes lit up like stars he loved it so much

He was even blushing a little

From that day to this you had Luffy under your finger. Wherever you went. He went. When you wanted to take a nap or draw he wanted to too. His personality even started to rub off on you and you felt more comfortable to smile and joke with him in private.

Luffy wasn’t the type to be into labels like calling you his girlfriend, but you were his new favorite person to talk to, listen to, and even confide to.

Just to be with, he loves you sm.

There has always been moments as youre drawing where Luffy has been so open to you about his past that even some of the strawhats don’t even know about.

He doesn’t mind being with you even if you’re shy/timid.

You were his form of comfort and he was yours.

The (Brief) Metahistory of Ben-Gal

Yet another instagram request. Bengal hasn't gone through much change because PH development is pretty recent. But still, good to keep an archive of these things.

Note that Powerhouse is a comic in the works so obviously I can't share every detail about certain plot points because where's the fun in that?

Before he was Bengal, he was my AMONG US SONA!!!!!!!!!!!! Also Powerhouse didn't exist yet. That's it.

A NEW NAME AND A NEW STORY: 6th December 2020

Now he was no longer a sona, but alive! His story (aka Powerhouse) was called Orbital Immolation at this time. You can see he is quite scrawny and scared. The story was pretty consistent to what it is now, being that he escaped from his work prison and is trying to find his way back to his family and sister, Grizel. Kasper was created around this time too. Since this is a post about Bengal, I'm not going to go the extra mile of mentioning other PH characters (unless someone wants that) despite being made the same time, because I'm tired. More Orbital Immolation art (with Bengal in it) below.

Not dating these individually but they were from December 2020 to June 2021, in order of creation.

By the way, it was called Orbital Immolation because I had the idea to make Bengal blow himself up to save the world in the end of it, hence, Immolation. At this time, I also had an idea for a sequel that would center around Grizel in the future still grieving over Bengal, as you can see in that picture with her and Robot Bengal.

In the 7th picture, there is a cat-looking girl. She was supposed to be Kasper's niece trying to avenge him after Bengal killed him. I don't remember exactly when I decided Kasper was a robot, but at that time he probably wasn't one because he had a niece. Or she was a robot created by a sister company of Kasper’s engineers, hence making her a cousin? Idk. Also you can see Cain in the 5th picture!

Also back then, Bengal was aroace.

From Bengal's toyhouse page (roughly December 2020):

"Bengal is a worker for MADA Space Corp, a prison-like space station floating in the middle of Mezuno. He boarded the ship when he was 16 to make money for his sickly mother, as well as provide tuition funding for his sister, Grizel, so she doesn't have to end up like him, rotting in manual labour. Bengal would describe himself as hardworking, nimble, and expendable. He has had the same routine for 12 years hoping his effort has paid off and that there may be a slight possibility he could return to his home planet. Little does he know, Isari had been destroyed for 2 years now, along with its culture and inhabitants. The only Isarians alive now are either refugees or had migrated to different planets before its destruction."

Interesting part about his planet, which probably isn't still canon. I had forgotten about that.

Here was when I decided to change the name of the comic because Orbital Immolation was Not Catchy. By now I had established the role of Reckoners in the story and wanted a technology-related title that also reflects something about our protagonist. I had 2 ideas for names: 1. Live Wire, and 2. Powerhouse. My lovely oomf helped me choose, so you have her to thank. Imagine calling it Live Wire.

Besides a bit of a personality change (he's silly now) and a workout, that's about all that's different from modern PH. I told you it was brief. Let's just look at the evolution of Bengal illustrations to finish this off.

Leander, Mhin, And Vere Reacting to Mc Drawing them (a Sequel)

Warnings: Vere is flirty, a person gets snatched away in Vere’s too, (it’s played in comedic effect but just in case) maybe OOC

Vere

ALR ALR ALR so, as we know, Vere draws. So having you two be like, drawing pals/couple ??? Muah muah

But I think it’d be really really funny, if he didn’t find out until you guys walk by a wanted poster—you both know who the subject is, but OMG THEY DO N O T look like that 🤨 also the lines??? So messy— effort ??? None

Determined to correct them, you stomp away, on the lookout to find the Wanted.

You find them waltzing out of a brothel, which is where you and Vere jump em.

Letting out a screech, (either that screech being from you or the Wanted that’s up to you. Could be a battle cry idk) you stuff them in a bag before quickly running off.

Vere of course, has no idea why you WANTED this random person, but he definitely wasn’t going to object to doing a crime with you <33

Plopping the Wanted into your room, you dramatically whisk off the bag, revealing a very frightened, and now hostile fellow.

“MC?? I thought we were FRIENDS, why the hell are you turning me in?”

You shush them, settling down in front, butter-fly legs as you slam open your sketchbook.

“I’m not turning you in, I’m redrawing your wanted poster.”

….

…..

“….What?”

“Vere, keep ‘em still!”

“Yes, darling~”

Your partner in crime does just that, and with your combined efforts, you successfully redraw the wanted poster. Now, it being far more accurate.

Which uhhh, did result in the fellow being captured, BUT— that’s not the point.

The point is, Vere now knows you can draw. And very well he might add!! Despite if your style is realistic or not, the wanted poster was STELLAR

And now as you’re back in your room, duty done, Vere droops himself seductively across the floor, any remaining sunlight catching the pink of his eyes and red of his hair.

“…what are you doing?”

“It’s my turn now,”

You raise a brow, “You want me to draw you a wanted poster?”

He rolls his eyes, running a hand through his long hair. “No, dummy. You can’t keep a secret like this from me and not use me as your new muse.”

“I wasn’t keeping it a secret—“

“Go on, i can’t stay in this position all day.”

Sighing, you kneel down, getting to work. “What am I going to do with you?”

Vere hums, and you know a flirt is coming before he says it. “Oh, MC, I have a list of things you can do with me~”

“Hopefully starting with throwing you in horny jail.”

“Rude.”

You snicker, returning to delicately sketching the details of Vere into the paper.

You draw the playful lift of his lips, the needle like pupils, and the deeper, maybe even rare soft side that he hides beneath flirts and cool remarks.

Once you’re done, Vere leans over your shoulder, humming his approval. A part of him, is both touched and uncomfortable how you managed to capture a side of him he didn’t commonly show.

After this, the two of you would often take turns drawing each other.

Leander

ALR ALR SO, WE ALL KNOW Eridia is like, dreary and cloudy all the time—and to set the scene—it’s storming—walls of rain slash against the roof of the Wet Wick (dang-it rlly be wet now. UHHH pls don’t hate me for that joke 😚)

The bloodhounds had been out doing jobs, leaving you with far less people to greet when walking downstairs.

Leander sits by the counter, large figure shadowed by the darkness cast by the storm. His eyes glowing eerily green in the shade, especially since he looks so deep in thought. His brows lightly furrow, his lips hinting at a frown.

You feel awfully like you’ve spotted something you weren’t supposed to. Especially since…there’s actually no one else around. You hear the faint snores of any other none-bloodhounds occupants still in their rooms, but otherwise it’s hushed against the drum of thunder.

Afraid of breaking some kind of spell, you stay where you are—though, you do tilt your head, taking in every angle of the scene in front of you.

…dang this would make a pretty cool sketch

Like a hesitant deer, you take quiet steps back up the stairs before returning, just as quietly with your sketchbook and pencils.

Though uhhh, Leander is no longer where you left him.

Curious, you take the rest of the steps down before searching the dark. Your only company being the crashing and howling of the outside storm—

“Good morning, MC!”

Out of pure terror, you scream and swing the sketchbook at the voice.

You’re greeted with low laughter and glittering green eyes as Leander reaches for the book, gently taking it from your hands.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you. Are you alright, MC? Did the storm wake you?”

You shake your head, a little thrown by the shift in tone—from laughter to genuine concern. You take your sketchbook back, but not until he’s caught interest.

“You draw?”

“How did you know it was a sketchbook?”

“I caught a glimpse when you whacked me.”

He laughs again, the deep sound nearly matching the thunder above. You feel oddly light when hearing it, though it sends a chill down your back.

For a distraction, you glance outside, the flash of lightning sparking worry into your chest.

“Will the bloodhounds be okay out there?”

Leander frowns, looking a bit confused, perhaps a little irritated before his smile quickly returns to his face. “Oh, they’ll be fine. You can’t live in Eridia without expecting storms.”

And before you can say more, he gestures to the sketchbook.

“What were you thinking of drawing?”

Ah, right. You shift on your feet, feeling a little awkward. You’ve asked to draw people before, and uhhh, with a few different reactions. Some thought it was weird, others annoyingly prodded at you to draw them before you even asked, (then changed your mind) and others kept whatever drawings you did like treasure.

You can’t guess how Leander will react to the question, but you end up asking anyway.

He receives the request with a bit of fluster, a flirt or two, before asking how you want him to pose. You decide you want to capture the moment you saw before—him standing in the dark like some kind of gothic statue, hoping you can somehow sketch in the magic and eerie wonder he had emitted.

Once you were finished, he definitely showed the picture to everyone he could—boasting at how talented you were…and how you chose him for a muse.

Mhin

ALR ALR, to balance out how kinda creepy Leander’s was 🧍🏻‍♀️ like man was just standing there in the dark like a WEIRDO—I wanted to do something cuter with Mhin’s.

So so so, this is for Mhin’s birthday. You know they like sweets, but wonder if they would appreciate a portrait instead

You’ve sketched them before, when they’ve taken care of the stray cats, when they’ve sat beside you in silence, just enjoying your company—but you wanted to make this special

So, after finding them after a little merry soulless hunt, you two get started on your little birthday plan. Mhin, to actually convince them to join you, Is completely unaware of said plan.

You just give excuse after excuse, like how starving you are and how you’re only craving their favorite type of cookies, how you want to explore the city and conveniently wind up where the stars are most visible, and you have NO idea how this romantically set table even came from?? 😮

Eventually, they do understand what’s going on, and look away, arms folded.

“I told you we didn’t have to celebrate.”

“We didn’t have to, but I wanted to~”

They roll their eyes, but like always, you can spot that flush of pink coating their cheeks.

After dinner, you pat a spot next to you, and when Mhin sits down, you stare up at the stars above. Millions blinking down at the pair of you between thin, grey clouds.

Mhin gets absorbed in the sight soon enough, occasionally pointing out constellations and then rambling about them.

Giving you just enough time to get out your sketchbook and get to work. While ofc still listening, because you always do. Hearing Mhin nerd out about stars is one of your favorite things.

The night is cold, biting at your nose, but it doesn’t bother you. Especially when you feel a warm cloak wrapped around your shoulders.

You look up from your book to see Mhin settling back down, ponytail and white shirt now exposed to the night air. They raise a knee and shrug. “Don’t look at me like that, you looked cold.”

Smiling, you pull them closer, reaching out the cloak so it covers you both. “Thank you, you big softy.”

You hear them grumble, but also don’t ignore how they lean into your side. After awhile, they glance at what you’re sketching, face growing confused as they start to recognize the person in the drawing.

“What is—“

You let them take the book, their eyes wandering over every detail so carefully thought out and drawn in with every pencil stroke.

Them in the portrait sit, gaze watching the sky with a wonder you’ve had the honor to see. Their mouth is open, talking about things that are more beautiful thanks to how they explained them. A little beauty mark seated by their lips.

After a few moments of silence, you lean your head on their shoulder(or head if ur tall), finding comfort in the warmth of the shared cloak.

“Happy birthday, Mhin.”

They didn’t say much, but you can see the appreciation in their eyes. How they look at your drawing with the same amazement as they looked at the sky.

Forever wondering why you’d use this talent to draw them.

Maybe celebrating their birthday wasn’t so bad after all. (Especially if they get to spend it with you <3333)

This has no meaning without a little context, so here's an explanation: I made that for my Good Omens fan fiction which will be read by one friend of mine and she asked if there would be pictures and now I did this for the first chapter and it's not quite good but still better than a lot of Good Omens stuff I have been drawing back in 2019/2020, so why not showing it to you, right? Something to redraw in a few years, I guess.

Here's a short excerpt of chapter 1 if you're bored or curious. I've started writing this story in 2019, so it takes place right after season 1. It begins with Crowley offering Aziraphale to share his flat with him. And there's a surprise waiting for the angel.

With a slight wave of his hand Crowley let the door swing open.

And what a triumphant grin appeared on his face as the angel reacted just as he had expected him to: mouth open and entirely dumbfounded, Aziraphale was staring into his room.

„I guess you thought it to be empty, right?“

„This is…“

The angel entered the room slowly in a state of utter disbelief which made Crowley even prouder than he already was.

He inspected the room that was obviously his. And the freshly created wing chair fit in just perfectly.

Everything in there was of a somewhat romanticized Victorian style, from the light blue wallpapers with ornamental patterns to the expensive looking wooden floor, from the fine crafted bookshelves to the massive four-poster bed with bright, golden embroidered cushions. Crowley had even miracled fancy drapery over the still very modern windows.

He loved watching his best friend being full of joy about things. Especially when he was the one who had miracled something to save a situation – or in this case just to cheer him up.

an extremely rushed bylerween day 2 - slashers, gore & body horror

this is a redraw of one of the posters for ‘Sleepaway Camp’ (i haven’t watched it yet, idk why i chose this movie in particular).

i low key considered even continuing with my initial idea that i had from september bc avoiding having to truly look at or draw noah schnapps face rn is the goal but idk. i just continued trying to make him look as much like will but as stylized as i can for the concept if that makes sense🤷🏾‍♀️ especially since i am drawing fanart of a character (who is still my baby) and not exactly him. anyway yeah, it’s not my fav but again i say, rushed. so much more could have been done with the open space surrounding the house especially given the source material and the fact that it’s supposed to be a camp but we’ll ignore that. so yeah, that’s day 2

he likes to draw :) somebody has to be behind all the slightly different variants of his little mascot guy. SOMEBODY has to redraw bank floor plans so they can plan out each tiny step of the heist. somebody has to scribble over his own wanted posters to put funny little devil horns on the image CMON now!!

only jigen could be in a fucking arcade theater complex and pull out a fucking crossword puzzle. why is this dude honestly trying to speedrun being a grouchy old man before he even turns 40. i mean no hate, no hate to crossword puzzles, they are cool but i’m more of a wordsearch guy. BUT THERE’S OTHER STUFF TO DO JIGEN!! at least he’s not going for sudoku though

very random but i think he might like sewing in a passive sense. with how particular he is about his hat and really ANY clothes on his person, he probably just picked up a needle one day to fix a tear and then was like Huh. this isn't too bad actually. kinda repetitive and calming. and then the others found out and tried to get him to fix all their stuff too SO HALF PLEASANT AND HALF NOT SO PLEASANT

i think it’d be cute if she took up some kinda journaling. i mean god knows she’s not writing about her FEELINGS in that little leather notebook, and she doesn’t really have the time to commit to like, scrapbook shit (even if she had the time, she’s not sentimental like that) but something simple like “this is a list of m&m variants in order of how disgusting to not disgusting they taste to me <3” with little candy stickers and gel pen hearts drawn in. the next page has a bloodstain on it and the only thing written is “dw about that lol”

okay i KNOW i’ve pushed the Arts Enjoyer goe agenda before but i recently saw that part 3 production art again of him chilling with the pottery wheel so i must state, once again, goemon LOVES sculpting shit in all forms. chip away at some rock, throw zantetsuken at a block of wood, actually invest in some clay for fucking once, whatever he uses, he’ll make something pretty good. and even if it wasn’t good it’s still a fun hobby for him. keeps his hands loose but precise

oh my god you know what he would love. dominoes. you know when people make those like crazy long domino strings that form a pattern when they’ve all fallen. if anybody here could have the precision and strangely placed patience to do shit like that it’s definitely this guy

2023 YEAR IN REVIEW!!!

My artstyle changed a lot this year, especially after my shift from ibis paint to procreate after getting my iPad (drawing on an iPad is the BEST btw 100% recommend I love it way more than a phone and it didn’t die after a month like my old wacom 💀💀). I’m relatively happy with where my art is atm and I hope to continue to improve in 2024!

Explanation of all the silly art down below! (Mostly so I can tell y’all who the fanart is for but also cause I like rambling)

January: A drawing of my Rise Leo human design I did to test out a pixel brush I found for Ibis Paint. He’s very fun to draw hehe I need to draw him more-

February: I wanted to learn how to draw the future designs of Leo and Mikey along with CJ so I planned to draw them all together! I struggled with Leo though so I just got rid of him. Sorry Peepaw 😞😞💔💔💔

March: Fanart for @beannary ‘s TLP au! I love it so much so I had to draw smth for it hehe 😈😈💥💥💥 which reminds me I need to draw more at some point- might redraw it at some point cause I’m not super happy with how it turned out but I do like the idea a lot

April: The month I created Reticent! April’s Fools was the first episode I came up with so I drew a chapter poster! It ended up being very different to the chapter cover I drew a couple months later but it’s still cool :D Leo is being weirdly affectionate to Mikey though what the heck that isn’t like him smh. Although I guess it was meant to be purposefully exaggerated sooooo 🥰

July: Reticent Chapter 3’s cover yippee!!! Still my favourite Reticent cover although Chapter 8’s is a close second (I can’t wait to post it once it’s been betaread yippee!!!). The scribble over Leo’s eyes is literally just because I was struggling to draw his eyes and i was getting annoyed dbskdbskdb it’s actually a very common issue with him (common Ret!Leo L). Also Mikey being reflected in the mirror is a reference to Mirror Man by Jack Stauber which I’ve basically considered his theme song since @aaronymous999 introduced it to me ebwjcbkwhd thank you Mr. Aaronymous! Also somebody said he was in the barbie box and I still need to draw that to this day because Mikey would’ve killed to go see Barbie.

August: RET DONNIE WOOOOO he’s being bullied again!!! I drew that piece for a colour palette challenge request and realised I got the prompt wrong so I just made it into its own thing 💥💥💥 it’s usually a flickering light gif but I chose to just use the version with the light on for this post. The photos in the background were really fun to draw hehe either April’s or Mikey’s is my favourite.

September: MY 500 FOLLOWER DTIYS YIPPEE (/my 150 follower DTIYS for tumblr). This one took me. Forever to draw and I love it to pieces hehe it was really fun to design Mikey’s room and figure out outfits for the sillies and idk the concept of a sleepover just seemed really fun to me dbskbdkdb- and all the entries I got were so so awesome I loved them all to pieces!!! I still look at them all the time hehe

Season 1-2 changes:

Season 1:

Bad Weather

The scene where DBK finds LBD’s crypt is replaced with an Oracle Bone Script landing on his head and him having to read it, understanding what it meant. Then he hears MK whisper in his mind about a power source that can strengthen his mind.

The Great Wall Race

Red Son doesn’t compete, cause he doesn’t find the poster, DBK and PIF go to a shrine built for MK as at some point of time his legend was altered so differently from LBD, they find after the episode, they find a similar version of the crypt, and MK turned himself into bones and they begin to grab the power source and return it.

The Skeleton Key

Mayor gives LBD the key upon MK’s instructions and Bai He feels and off vision from it, they find a cave and open the door, after that get attacked by Yin and Jin’s shenanigans. After that, they discover that the cave was holding an ancient relic, one telling how to defeat MK, unfortunately Mei and Bai He can’t read it so they left the cave, unknowingly releasing a demon that was sealed there long ago

Macaque

The Demon inside the cave was Macaque, MK had trapped him in a cave after he had betrayed him (Since I believe in the theory that Wukong never killed him, I decided that he was killed by a random demon, MK never alters this memory because he was unaware of Macaque’s backstory.) Macaque goes to meet Bai He (since Macaque wasn’t erased from history) who Bai He admits is her favorite over Wukong. Macaque has ulterior motives for getting Bai He’s powers after betraying her. It’s still because he wants to fight SWK but Macaque is fearful of MK. After the episode and getting heavily injured, Macaque gets captured and MK uses him utilizes him as a future host for after DBK

The End is here!

Everything in this episode stays the same, except Bai He is seen as LBD and DBK is slightly possessed. In the end though the whole cutscene that I showed via screenshot redraw with Macaque and MK and MK uses his body to ‘return his destiny to him’ the screen flashes to a shadow of MK possessing Macaque and Mayor insanely watching as he does.

Season 2:

Revenge of the Spider Queen

Instead of Bai He, it’s Macaque and he gives Spider Queen the Bone Vial.

The scene where Sun Wukong is caught off guard by LBD is replaced with witty banter as MK perfectly re-enacts Macaque’s personality, this is one of the time Macaque breaks out of the dreamscape and is in complete horror at how perfectly MK re-enacts him.

MK shows up with ‘Macaque’ and sees Demon Bull King, DBK remarks on his betrayal, as ‘Macaque’ just shrugs and says that he’s just working with the winning side and suggests that Bai He be placed alongside his mentor.

The part where Wukong says ‘You should’ve stayed buried’ is changed as Wukong remarks how disappointed he is in Macaque, he understands that he is angry at Wukong, but he didn’t have to go and involve DBK, much less capture him and use him for battery ‘Macaque’ only responds with Wukong using dirty tricks and people just to get his way and how he even got his ‘brothers’ captured just for the sake of protecting his Master. Wukong attacks out of anger but MK removes the glamour on Macaque and he sees the light blue marks and the scar tainting Macaque. Wukong looks back to hear that Macaque was actually revived and takes it upon himself to consult an old friend.

After the whole episode MK hides the Trigram Furnace for further use and returns to the Spider Queen as Macaque, using the shadows to speak instead of his physical form giving her an Oracle Bone Scripture (Translated) that could help her achieve victory, before disappearing again for the whole season.

Sleep Bug

The plot still remains the same, however they’re doing this in guidance of the Mayor. Syntax arrives with a different blueprint and a blueprint that Mayor needs to fulfill MK’s destiny and Bai He is more smarter giving Syntax a hard time before summoning the guardians.

Dumpling Destruction

Most of Season 2 is just the same just without MK, since he won’t engage so much with the Spider Gang. So Dumpling Destruction just happens without the trigram furnace and the LBD mech blueprints, Spider Gang just instructs Huntsman to find another artifact that isn’t the demon revealing mirror

In the start of the episode however, Wukong actually is fine in the Celestial Realm, he just went there to find Nezha, as he seems to know PIF and Red Son more than him. But when they said he wasn’t available he turned to find Guanyin, the start where Sun Wukong threatens a god is changed to him gleefully greeting Guanyin.

Minor Scale

Bai He actually just gets a note from Wukong on how to shrink, she then discovers Spider Queen’s plan and escapes to tell Pigsy and Tang.

Instead of showing Wukong in the start, the episode shows him in the end. Where he is seen having tea with none other than MK, who has briefly released Macaque but with a seal that he can’t inform anyone about his situation. Wukong is seen asking MK for advice about Macaque, it just cuts with MK saying ‘Let me see what I can do’

Shadow Play

This is during the time Macaque was briefly released, Macaque finds the shadow lantern and uses it for his plays, however he sees Bai He, and out of fear of MK uses this opportunity to build her strength even further, the episode plays normally but afterwards the Mayor comes and sees his causing trouble again, the Mayor and Macaque have a small conversation (While Macaque is being choked) and Mayor brings Macaque back to MK since he’s already done consulting Wukong.

72 Transformations

Bai He finally learns how to shapeshift and discovers that Spider Queen has completed her Mega Spider Mech (Ain’t no way in hell am I drawing that so you’re all going to have to imagine the mech) in the end Spider Queen’s Spider Mech bursts out of the ground and begins conquering the city.

The is the End!

Spider Queen tried to conquer the city by infecting the city with a more powerful venom instantly turning the people into spider goons, since they don’t have the Trigram Furnace, the gang has to think of another way to cure the city.

(Not sure what happens in-between this is a work in progress)

The ending shows Spider Queen doing community service and redeeming herself, and MK looking over the scene, proud at the sudden shift of the timeline.

Nancy and Steve would be Mike and Lucas: having known each other quite a bit, Steve being the jock Lancer to the nerdier but fiery Nancy like Lucas is to Mike

Nancy is capable of being a de facto leader of the group the way Mike is and to be the kind of person willing to jump off a cliff/jump in the water for her friends’ sake; she’s also unfortunately polarizing in the fandom much like her brother, partly due to how her romantic relationships are being handled

Steve is loyal, has big sibling—not necessarily second parent, but specifically older brother—energy, bit of a romantic, and the closest one of the group to have one foot in the popular circles before ultimately choosing his friends over that crowd; they also both directly faced off with a blond, fandom-polarizing “top dog” type of antagonist at one point

Ironically Nancy is more of the ranger in terms of weapons like Lucas while Steve would be more of a sword swinger like Mike’s paladin

Robin coming from a lower class background, having felt like an outcast, and possessing a similar creativity and sharpness (enough to survive the UD on her own for a week) with a sarcastic streak similar to Will; “Is that why you don’t have friends?” / “He just said he dumped your ass, that doesn’t sound like a break” That’s literally her

Imagine Robin being Will, her going missing, and then Jonathan turning up in the woods around the same time; Steve being suspicious of him + of the way Nancy trusts him to help them find Robin can mirror S1 Lucas’s suspicion towards El and her intentions while really wanting to find Will

I can see Robin falling in love with Nancy like Will has for Mike; meanwhile Nancy was raised in the Wheeler household that’s so famously known for having parents that love each other, and then there’s her relationship with Jonathan

Eddie would join the group later like he did in the actual show S4 + when Dustin joined the Party later; sharp, D&D informant guy, lives with a single parental figure, sometimes boisterous and snarky, a little impulsive, would also probably be the type to foster a demogorgon baby that ended up eating something it shouldn’t

Good natured bickering Lucas and Dustin (especially in the early seasons) to good natured bickering Steve and Eddie would translate so well

That scene in S1 where Dustin enthusiastically tries to get El to levitate a toy spaceship by just dropping it in front of her while she doesn’t react lmao that’s Eddie and Jonathan

Jonathan having limited social skills, complicated father issues, and been raised in an environment neglecting to see him as the kid he is in favor of seeing him as something else, such as a grown adult or a lab subject like El; he can eventually learn to develop as his own person independent of others after years of being depended on by others (as a psychic government tool/as a parentified caretaker for his family)

He too got arrested for busting someone’s face bc they talked shit about his family

People always talk about how he looks like he wants to explode someone with his mind. How can I not make him El

Will and El duo -> Robin and Jonathan duo; Robin and Jonathan are like written in the same font in canon (5’8, nerdy, awkward but snarky pretentious art hoes that like Nancy Wheeler), do you see my Willel/Robjon vision

Do they look alike? Not even close but someone confused Jonathan for Robin on an ST4 poster once so im running with it

Argyle is the last to join the Party, originally hailing from CA and wanting to make friends as a lonely newcomer to Hawkins; the supernatural and everything the Party deals with can be a lot, but he goes where the group goes, accepting the risk and rolling with it, sorta like he does with Cali gang in S4, driving all the way to Indiana, and learning his best friend’s little sister has powers

Initially Argyle was being left out of the loop by the group and later, despite being excited to meet him, Jonathan was probably a little dismissive of him at first like El was to Max

But they warm up to each other, and the S3 Elmax bonding where Max helps El experience being a regular kid -> Jargyle bonding where Argyle helps Jonathan experience being a regular kid kinda like S4 Jargyle with Jonathan having been able to have a friend + feel a little more like a teenager

El going to Max for relationship advice in S3 -> Jonathan going to Argyle for relationship advice

Also he’s a good driver; he was the getaway driver for Cali gang that is zoomer behavior

One thing I hope for the Ranma 1/2 anime remake is to drop out all the filler. People forget, but before Naruto and Bleach, Ranma 1/2 was the poster child of filler episodes. Not only would they have entire filler episodes, but they'd take short manga stories and pad them out with less interesting B Plots. Like, I love Ryouga, but that whole "Akane helping him study" wasn't in the manga story about "Akane fighting in her sleep". Takahashi's storytelling is so tight, that many times, the filler in Ranma 1/2 just ruined perfectly good manga-based anime episodes.

One of the biggest problems is that Takahashi specializes in short stories, but anime adaptation needs more material to prevent exceeding their source manga. Most of her manga were either anthologies of short stories (Rumic Theater, Rumic World), or were long-running series that functioned almost like a collection of short stories. This is why Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura, Mermaid Saga, and I think maybe Rinne were more episodic than focused on a serialized-style overarching plot. This was also why Inuyasha was such a switch, and even Inuyasha still felt like a collection of episodic incidents during the series' beginning. When Takahashi's series got their first anime adaptation, Urusei Yatsura had episodes less than 15 minutes. Each "30min" episode would be 2 stories. And I think this type of adaptation works best for Takahashi's series. Back in the day, it was standard for anime to write anime-only, "filler". But now that the current anime industry is more open to giving anime series a mid-season break, to give the manga time to catch up, or they'll actually wait for the manga to finish before starting the anime adaptation, I have more hope that a new adaptation of Ranma 1/2 will have the opportunity to stay truer to Takahashi's original pacing. Even her choices of when to insert humorous, side story type plots, interrupting multiple chapters of overarching plot drama, felt like masterfully tactical choices, of when to provide relief and when to know how long higher drama storylines should go. I don't know about everyone else, but I enjoyed the short manga chapters of humor, after something heavy happened for multiple chapters in Inuyasha. But those short reprieves of humor worked because they were short. I could feel the friction, when the Inuyasha anime tried to make these short-reprieve, short stories longer than they needed to be. When anime adaptations veer away from Takahashi's pacing, they noticeably suffer. Takahashi writes a lot of short stories, so her storytelling style is extremely efficient. There is no "fat" and everything, even the seemingly wandering side incidents all have a purpose. Sometimes, in my opinion, an anime episode based on her manga doesn't need to be a full half hour (~22min). Sometimes they work best as anime shorts, just like her short story styled manga. Please let this next Ranma 1/2 anime have shorter episodes, when they need to be.

The thing I didn't like about the original anime adaptation of Ranma 1/2, was the pacing. I'm not just talking about overall storytelling structure. I mean moment-to-moment during individual scenes. At the time, I thought maybe this was a more Japanese sense of humor to "sit on" things. But by now, "awkward silence" has become a very popular type of humor in the West. And I think I just don't like it. But besides me personally enjoying faster, more Animaniacs-styled humor (that I grew up on), I suspect that Takahashi meant for her jokes to be very fast too.

When I read the Ranma 1/2 manga, it gives me the sense that the pacing should be faster. And yes, there's a certain amount of subjective pacing that goes into reading manga, individual to each reader. But Takahashi often does these jokes where she will redraw an ENTIRE panel, changing only the one part that's meant to be a joke. The way human eyes/brains work, our attentions tend to glaze over things we've seen before, and take more note of things that are now different than they previously were. So the eye registers all that repeated background information incredibly quickly or barely at all, because it's not worth re-analyzing. That means, the eye goes immediately to the new information, which is usually a gag. When the paneling of a comic facilitates such quick comprehension of one moment to another, I can only assume that there was intentional fast pacing. So I believe most of Takahashi's jokes are fast paced. She also often draws these highly exaggerated, melodramatic poses/scenes/atmosphere, so that the contrast of the later joke panel (where Ranma or Akane refuse to take other characters' melodrama seriously) is instantly jarring. There's no build up to make the sudden change in tone make sense. There's no build up to make Ranma's/Akane's humorous reactions seem predictably aligned with the tone that was just happening beforehand. The joke is that Ranma's/Akane's reactions are jarring, sudden, and I think fast. The humor was often like this, so I can only assume that Takahashi's sense of humor is supposed to be using fast delivery.

So many times, I thought a joke or a storyline from the anime adaptation would have worked better if the pacing was faster. And then I'd read the manga, and find it much more engaging. Or, I'd read that manga storyline first, then see the anime adaptation, and find it too slow. Again, I grew up on Animaniacs' quick sense of humor, so it'd believe it was just my subjective preferences. But so often, these drawn-out places in the anime, do not correspond to Takahashi drawing long panels of atmospheric environments, to intentionally slow the "reading" of a panel/scene. But Takahashi does know how to intentionally control how the readers' eyes drift across a panel. Lots of her manga have proven that she knows how to control the pacing, whether that's how the eye moves across panels, or how quickly stories wrap up. There are slow moments in Maison Ikkoku where 2 or 3 panels that extend from one side of the page to the other, covering the entire breath of a page, just to show how the light in the sky changes from night, to dawn, to daylight. And she will slow down the set-ups for jokes, with long, melodramatic weight, that gives a character only a small part of a panel, so that the panel can be mostly environmental space for the readers' eyes to linger through in silence. And that is often quickly contrasted with the quick cuts to a joke panel, where everything is so easily comprehended (there is no background or no background change for the eye to wander), that the eye has no choice but to comprehend the scene quickly, implying a sudden quick pacing. Takahashi knows how to slow down the pacing and how to control speeding it up. She has very intentional control over the pacing of her scenes. (Honestly, I think she has the best control in conveying information to readers. In almost 20 years of reading her manga, and over the course of multiple 10-year-long series, I only got confused in her panel transitions TWICE. After reading so much Shoujo manga, it's easy to recognize that is an impressive feat.) So when I see the anime adaptation going slow on corresponding manga panels that were read quickly, I can't help but think the anime director's pacing clashes with Takahashi's original intentions.

In short, I hope for a much tighter adaptation of Ranma 1/2. I feel like all those people who used to dismiss Ranma 1/2 could better experience the best of that series, if the anime would just keep the fat trimmed, instead of adding filler or slower pacing.

But also, I'd love to see a anime studio/director better emulate the serious, melodramatic, martial arts movies that Ranma 1/2 was parodying. A lot of the jokes from Ranma 1/2 come from these characters acting so serious and playing out martial arts movie tropes...only for Ranma or Akane to point out how stupid the situation actually is. LOL I always loved that. lol If we could get action scenes like Sunrise's Inuyasha, and serious, melodramatic tones for the joke set-ups, I think it would enhance the humor in Ranma 1/2.
