— dazai inviting you into the shower after a rather unforgiving day, immediately adjusting the water temperature to be soothingly warm as it runs on your skin. he’ll squirt a bit of your shampoo into his palm before massaging it into your scalp, lithe fingers working all the tension that lingers away. he’ll hum a calming melody while rinsing out the shampoo, pressing soft kisses against your shoulder and neck afterwards.

— dazai whining as the two of you made your way back home from a little walk, coming across a street cat that he insisted was ‘too cute not to pet’. the man didn’t give it a second thought as he let her love on his hand, scratching behind her ear while the little feline purred. even as you advised him with furrowed brows about diseases or parasites he could be getting, dazai could care less as he looked back and forth between you and the cat with adoring eyes.

— dazai noticing how sleepy you were while out, the insomnia undoubtedly catching up to you. of course despite how much he hated the act, he offered to drive home almost immediately after seeing the half lidded, drowsy look in your eyes. when you arrived home, he quietly opened the car door, scooping up your sleeping body bridal style as gently as possible. dazai carried you to your shared bed, careful not to disturb that peaceful expression on your face while setting you down and sliding the warm comforter over you before coming to join you a few minutes later.

— dazai in the kitchen with you during the later months of the year, a sugary aroma filling the air as you stirred the cookie batter you were making. he insisted on helping you bake, brushing his intentions off as ‘emotional support’ when you questioned his lack of pastry skills. dazai’s arms wrapped around your waist from behind, chin resting on your shoulder as he watched you simply stir with an attentive look in his eyes only your darling could have.

OBSESSED with how lorelai calculatedly says the most inflammatory thing she can think of in order to stop chris's parents from targeting rory. this woman is standing in a tank of starving sharks and she dumps the chum bucket over her own head the instant straub makes her daughter uncomfortable. she doesn't cause a scene for no reason; she strategically weaponizes everybody's low expectations of her in order to stop straub from attacking rory and encourage him to attack her instead. and it WORKS. and she just sits there takes it. i see your daughter is just as out of control as ever, richard. but lorelai doesn't care what straub says about her because that was the point; she wants to him to come after her and forget that rory is there. if you'd attended a university as your parents had planned, and as we planned in vain for christopher, you might have aspired to more than a blue-collar position...you might not want to take such a haughty tone when you announce to the world that you work in a hotel.

and then she sends rory out of the room to safety and she sits there and continues to take it. she seduced him into ruining his life. she had that baby, and ended his future! and it doesn't matter because they're chewing on her and not her daughter and that was the point. she played them. they fell for it. and it doesn't mean that the things they say don't hurt her, because they do. it means she's willing to let herself be hurt in rory's place.

you can see the tense disapproval on lorelai's face when the group turns expectantly to rory like they're waiting for her to perform some kind of circus trick, and even though the gilmore grandparents + chris do it out of genuine admiration and pride, they don't understand how terrified rory feels about being asked to demonstrate genius on-demand in front of people who are already judging her for being born. rory looks reflexively at her mother with HELP written all over her face, and one needling comment from straub is all it takes for lorelai to offer herself up as a convenient (and familiar) punching bag.

Taking a break from amphibianaday soon and may or may not return

Day 1821 is coming up soon, marking half a decade of amphibians! After day 1821 I will be taking break to re-evaluate if I'm still drawing because I want to or because it's become a habit. Between fulltime work and hrt turning me into some kind of extrovert I have a lot less free time now. I guess I'm figuring out how I want to spend it?

I don't want to promise any kind of return but I also can't quite commit to deciding to stop for real yet. So. I'm waiting until day 1821 so I can end on a good milestone if I don't decide to keep drawing! :D

It's been part of my life for so long, it's hard to imagine not drawing every day now. But my life is in such a different place now than it was when I started, in so many different ways. When I started I was living with my parents, working a part time job I hated, hoping to study to become a game animator. I had only barely figured out my gender situation after years of questioning and denial. Since starting this blog I have:

come out as trans

got accepted at my dream school

changed my legal name

moved out

realized I didn't want to be an animator actaully

fell in love with rigging and programming

graduated and started working as a professional technical animator

started HRT

got top suregery

Kind of wild to think about how drawing amphibians has been with me quietly in the background through all this. I'm sort of moving away from bein An Artist™ (at least professionally), but drawing all these amphibians so far has been awesome and improved my art so much. I've made lots of art I'm really proud of!

Alos gotta take this time to say a Huge thank you to anyone who has ever said something nice in an ask, dm, reply, tag, etc. I read and treasure every kind message and it's always made my day to hear my art has brightened someone else's, or been an inspiration :)
