Summary:

It’s been six years since Eleven vanquished Vecna once and for all. Everyone has moved on with their lives and moved out of Hawkins—well, everyone except Steve.

One day, Steve gets a phone call from Dustin—he’s getting married and he wants Steve to be his best man! Steve gladly accepts the role, only to discover that Eddie has also been asked to be best man. Steve’s competitive nature gets the better of him as he and Eddie compete to be the best of best men, with rather surprising results.

Interestingly, although MECA is getting the lion's share, we've received heart-felt thank you notes from a handful of other orgs with much smaller slices of the pie who have noticed the uptick in donations and their attribution in honor of Fandom Trumps Hate. Our pooled donations to small orgs DO make a difference!

If you've not made your donations yet and wanted to select an org or two that wasn't getting as much attention as the others, our Environmental orgs are collectively only just receiving 10%, and our Voting/Democracy orgs just 8%. Remember that donations for your winning bids are due by March 19, and 2nd chance offers are due by March 24.

FTH 2024 Auction Calendar

We blinked, and it's 2024, and our EIGHTH year of running this auction. 2024 has all the same problems as last year but more — but we also have a lot to be hopeful about, and a lot of good projects worth supporting and fighting for.

You can look at this page (also linked in our header) for the list of this year's supported nonprofit organizations. We'll be posting more detailed profiles of each of them in the coming weeks. Below is the full calendar for this year's auction.

February 5th: creator signups open

February 19th: creator signups close

February 29th: browsing period begins

March 5th: bidding opens

March 9th: bidding closes

March 16th: proof of high bid donations due

March 21st: proof of 2nd chance donations due

Back in 2021, as we were pulling together the fifth FTH auction, we joked together behind the scenes about how great it felt that the name of our auction was no longer quite as on-the-nose as it had been in our first few years. But it's 2024, and in all likelihood 45 will be back on the ballot: just one of the many sobering and scary things we're facing down this year.

But for the past seven years, we've had the privilege of watching thousands of fans -- yes, literally thousands -- dedicate their time and money and energy to the twin projects of sending support to some amazing organizations while building and strengthening community ties within fandom. Now, more than ever, that kind of community-building is essential.

We hope you'll join us, and join one another, in sending much-needed financial support to these amazing organizations and in putting more joy and beauty out into the world in the form of fanworks. These are dark times, but when we join together we can make them a little brighter.

Summary: After injuring himself in an unfortunate dodgeball accident, Dean is stuck at home on sick leave. Sam, being the good brother and goddamn busybody that he is, decides to help. A few days later, Dean receives an unexpected package in the mail from Cyberlife. Spoiler alert: it's not a smart fridge like Dean had hoped.

HarryRonFest 2022: Prompt Posting

Prompt Posting for the HarryRonFest 2022 starts tomorrow, on July 18th.

Every day we'll reveal 4 prompts, consisting of a single word, a situation/quote/song, a location, and a trope. On August 1st you'll get a Masterlist with all 55 prompts + an open prompt option.

Please remember that we only reveal the prompts like that for visibility purposes. The idea is that you pick ONE out of the 55 prompts and then create something for it. You're absolutely allowed to combine prompts but you don't have to. You'll also get an open prompt option if none of the given prompts tickle your fancy.

This is a completely commitment free fest. Every creator can use every prompt, there will be no claiming.

I was totally entranced by this fic, and have the others in the series lined up to read as well!

"I like it.” Harry tips his face up to the rain, ignoring the fact he’s one of Britain’s most powerful wizards in favour of having a moment in the storm. The rain tracks down his cheeks like tears, but his expression is one of pure, unadulterated happiness. A beautiful, messy boy full of contradictions and the fiercest desire to fight, fight, fight.

☔️ To Vanish Into Something Better by @m0srael // E // 35K // I know I've recommended this fic before but try and stop me. It's so good; I remember just feeling the humidity and warmth encompassing me while I read it.

Harry screams into the deafening roar of the rain. How dare the Minister and his DMLE lapdog try and keep Harry penned in and Draco barricaded out. How dare they use Draco like this; hurt him like this. How bloody dare they make Draco believe this was his only option, that he is sacrificing himself and the astounding, perfect world he’s built for the greater good.

"I've got you." Harry's voice filled Draco's ear, louder than thunder, than the rain. Louder than the pounding of the dragon's wings. Louder than Draco's beating heart. Harry's arms wrapped tight around Draco's waist.

They were nearly finished when the rain took to torrent. Suddenly, the air was thick with it, water filling every space where oxygen was meant to land, thick drops choking out the last bit of breathing room. The sky hung even lower, clouds not much higher than the mast.

At that exact moment, lightning struck and both men broke the kiss, staring out at the rain in surprise as the darkness outside was momentarily illuminated by a blinding white light. Harry’s dreamy expression quickly morphed into one of horror and he stepped out into the rain.

Draco chokes on his inhale but manages to tell Harry his address, and just as he adjusts his wards there’s a loud pop and Harry is standing in the middle of his living room. Lightning flashes, lighting up his unruly curls, his flannel pajamas, his bare feet.

It starts raining, but you wait anyway, and then, just when you think they won’t show up, just when you think it’s over before it even started, deep into the night, you find them standing right behind you, soaked to the bone, with a smile on their face. You both laugh, and then you just kiss, no matter the passers by, no matter the rain.” Potter sounded wistful.
