Raven is known to be blunt and speak before he thinks. This has led to him getting into a few fights... Fun fact, jesters are the only people who could insult the king without execution and were paid the best.

So as a result he gets along with Diavolo the best, oddly enough. He asked diavolo about his childhood which led to diavolo asking about his in return. Which led to him trauma dumping, although inevitably. Which led to him being comforted.

He enjoyed being babied.

Anyway, I suspect Diavolo is one of the best characters for childhood trauma sharing and subsequent comforting. I just think he'd get it, you know?

Vento Auero Final Thoughts

Each JoJo part has been consistently better so going into part 5 I had high hopes after how much I loved part 4. While I enjoyed the characters the whole part felt…boring. I was around episode 22 when I was thinking “nothing is happening.” They were defending the bosses daughter from enemy stands and going from place to place, but it just wasn’t connecting with me.

And then there’s Giorno. I was so excited to see this character and his introduction did not disappoint. His stand ability was really inventive and I liked seeing him use it. But after the first episode, he became a side character to the Bucciarati gang. It had been spoiled for me that Giorno Giovanna was the son of Johnathan Joestar and Dio. That concept alone and the conflict it could create for the character was exciting to me. How would he deal with knowing one of his father’s killed the other? Would he have any vampiric blood in him because of Dio? I assumed that Jotaro would show up and explain his parentage to him much the way he did to Josuke. It’s wild that Trish had the story that coming to terms with her power hungry evil father and what it meant to be related to him. But for Giorno that wasn’t even a plot point nor was it ever brought up. So far he is the most boring JoJo despite so much potential.

The arrow plot line was brought in near the very end and went so fast I wondered what was even the point. The highlight of the arrow and trying to find the boss was my guy, my one and only, the love of my life JEAN PIERRE POLNAREFF. The way I screamed when I realized it was him and then the waves and waves sadness. My heart was breaking when during his last moments of life he remembered the Stardust Crusaders and I started to cry. Only for the next episode to start and his body is only dead and his spirit is in the turtle!!!! He deserved so much more.

The villain was suitable, I guess. The twist of Doppio/Diavolo was certainly a different take. I didn’t hate it and it made for some interesting moments. His stand was incredibly confusing and defeat by Giorno was lackluster. The absolute hell of living different deaths over and over again was some existential horror I wasn’t prepared for. Wish Giorno had just killed him and been done with it

Poor Abbachio. His death was maybe the most heartbreaking because of Narancia reaction. The way he refused to believe it and then broke down got to me.

Poor Narancia. The moment he said he was excited to go back to school I knew baby boy was done for. He was taken out so fast and the slow dawn horror for all the characters was brutal to watch. Mista sobbing and screaming over him was awful. It actually made me cry.

Poor Bucciarati. He was a good leader and admired the way he had boundless compassion for others that brought his team together. His death was slow and inevitable but it didn’t make it any easier when he was gone for good. He might be my favorite from the group.

Poor Mista. He lost everyone. 💔 I liked him a lot, too. Him and the Sex Pistols were a lot of fun.

Overall, part 5 was my least favorite JoJo part. If I had to rank it right now it would be:

Warnings: Gore

“You all are acting like fools!” Lucifer yelled. He was in the middle of an outing with Diavolo and Barbatos as they were receiving reports from the other exchange students via an outing. However, his brothers happened to get curious as to why their older brother was going out.

The brothers could hear screaming in the alley. The younger 6 were being reprimanded by Lucifer when they all heard a “My head was cut off!” in a nearby alley. They all ran in when they turned into their demon forms when they saw two demons, one decapitated but still talking.

“Y/N! Help me!” The head screamed. Then each party witnessed the gruesome mutation. Out of the decapitated demon’s back, they saw you emerging. 

Lucifer

He watched in pure shock. He saw signs, but he didn’t have time to put the pieces together. He knew there were. When you were fully out, you reattached your sibling’s head to their body. Everyone shuddered, but then you started comforting your sibling.

That was when the demon attacked you. Lucifer was about to lunge into battle, when you gave the look. You slashed the demon’s face in half before their attack landed on you. They started screaming in pain until they inevitably fell. 

You turned and saw Lucifer, and you saw his shocked face. You definitely had to explain how you knew the formerly decapitated person. 

Once you told him everything, he felt proud that you could defend yourself. You were toughened by your past, and you were able to defend your sibling when they needed you, much like himself for his own brothers.

He gains another level of respect for you, one that only older siblings can have towards other older-siblings. You are able to relate to him in a way very few can, and he gives kudos to you.

Mammon

He is absolutely appalled. He didn’t notice anything weird, so there was no way he guessed you could do that. When you fully emerged, you turned around and picked up your sibling’s head to reattach it. He couldn’t deny it, he felt sick at that moment. He couldn’t understand how you just managed to move past it and try to stop your sibling’s crying and comfort them.

When the demon attacked you, he was about to scream. He didn’t get the chance because you slashed the demon’s head off, and he threw up right after. The head was still blinking for a few seconds when they closed for the last.

You looked over to see Mammon with his eyes wide. You sighed, knowing that he was going to either yell at you or be scared of you. One thing was clear: you owed him an explanation.

Once you spilled the beans, he was even more shocked. No wonder you were always so tough and cruel. He was mad that you had to live such a harsh life while you were human, and he realizes it wasn’t your fault that you ended up as you are.

He looks at you from a different perspective. He understands what it’s like to be responsible for your younger siblings, as well as feel like they are the only things you have in your life that are true. 

Leviathan

This is exactly that anime ‘Help! Rip-off Michael Jackson turned my sister into a demon and now I’m trying to find a cure!’ He is staring at you and your sibling wide-eyed as he receives the feeling of deja vu. Then, you reconnected your sibling’s head and soothed them right after like nothing just happened.

Then the demon went for the attack while you were – seemingly – vulnerable. He felt anger he had never felt before; someone dared touch his Henry! Then, you gave ‘the look’ that told him that you were about to ruin this demon’s whole career. You slashed the demon’s neck and watched them try to speak, but fail to get even one word out. Then, they collapsed.

Levi ran over to you to see if you were okay and checked on your sibling as well, and he sighed in relief when he found out you were both okay. He did ask you about what that was all about and why you didn’t tell anyone that you were part demon.

When you tell him your story, he’s not very shocked. He’s seen too much anime to not at least guess you had a tragic backstory. He’s angry that you had to go through all of that while you were a human, but he’s glad that you went through all of it because now he has you and he won’t let you or your sibling go through anything like that ever again.

His view of you doesn’t change, but he is now grateful for his older brothers for always looking out for him, even if it doesn’t seem that way most times.

Satan

He’s read this in a book before, but he would have never thought he would see anything like this happen before him. He felt sick to his stomach, and even more so when you stood and reconnected your sibling’s head to the rest of their body and started comforting them right after.

The demon was about to attack you, and Satan knew he’d never make it in time. He was about to scream when you tore their arm off. The demon collapsed and started screaming in pain when you put your foot up to their head and smashed it.

When you all got back to the HoL, you were forced to tell the brothers what the hell happened. He stared at you in shock: why didn’t you tell them before?

When you tell him your story, he is there to offer you comfort. He will read to you to distract you from the horrible memories. He is angry (obviously) that you had to face such a harsh life. He goes to the human world to… give those people a taste of their own medicine.

He now understands why his older brothers act the way they do. You want to protect your sibling as well as you can, and so do Lucifer, Mammon, and Leviathan. 

Asmodeus

He turned to the side and threw up. He couldn’t help it, it was just too much for him. Part of it was also the fact you’ve been keeping something like this from all of them. He watched as you fully emerged, reattached your sibling’s head to their body, and started soothing them. He threw up again.

The demon was walking towards you, and you didn’t seem to notice… until the last moment. You dug your nails deep into their chest and essentially peeled the skin off. Cue Asmo throwing up again. The demon collapsed without so much as a whisper.

Asmo felt betrayed, at the very least. Disgusted as well. How could you not tell him something like this? He didn’t even want to hear an explanation about what just happened. He would rather not think about it at all.

When you both were doing a spa day, you told him about your life as a human and how envious you were of those who had a better life than you did. He held you in his arms to comfort you. He vows that you will never have to go through anything like that ever again.

He gains a whole other level of appreciation towards Lucifer. Like how you want to be there for you sibling, Lucifer is always there for him.

Beelzebub

He lost his whole appetite. He watched as you crawled out of your sibling’s back and stood up. You went over to their head, picked it up, and resecured it to their neck. You started comforting them as if nothing just happened, and he felt his lunch coming back up.

However, he had no time for that because the demon was running towards you, preparing their attack. You heard their footsteps and slashed their legs, causing the demon to fall. You walked over and used your sickles to tear their heart apart.

Back at the HoL, Beel stood by your side until he was sure you were 100% okay. He then proceeded to ask you a bunch of questions, like why you kept silent about your sibling. He didn’t eat anything for a few days, just in shock.

You told him about your life and how harsh you had it up in the human realm. You told him how you vowed to always be there for your sibling. Beel understood immediately: he was very protective of Belphie as well.

He understands the relationship dynamic between you and (sibling’s name) because it’s identical to the dynamic between him and Belphie.

Belphegor

He’s wide awake now. He stared wide-eyed in shock, then he had to hold on to Beel so he wouldn’t fall or faint. He stared as you walked to your sibling’s head and refixed it to the rest of their body. Then you turned to wipe their tears away.

He could only look on while the demon prepared their attack. He didn’t want you to die again, but in his fight or flight response, he chose to freeze. However, it appears he didn’t need to do anything when you dug one of your sickles straight through the demon’s ‘heart’. 

Right there in the alley, he demanded an explanation. You answered any question he asked and he wouldn’t let you go until you did. For the remainder of the week, he couldn’t sleep.

One night, you both were laying down together and you told him about your life as a human. At that moment, he wanted to kill everyone who refused to help you and your sibling. 

He also understands the relationship between you and your sibling since it’s similar to the one between him and Beel. He’s surprised that you haven’t told him earlier that you had a sibling, but he also can’t blame you. He’d do the same thing if he were in your shoes.

LESSON 66 SUMMARY & ANALYSIS, PART 1

This was a fun lesson, though not very flattering for a few characters.

The Story

The lesson starts with our team attempting to eavesdrop on Lucifer's team as they ponder their objective, which requires figuring out a riddle.

Raphael, being the only one in this group with a brain cell, recalls that it's related to a haiku Simeon once read to him... and wonders why only Lucifer's team gets the riddle. You get two answers to choose from, and ultimately he concludes it's because Lucifer's team is likely to overthink it.

tl;dr: the riddle is about Thirteen's octopus traps. Raphael catches on but Thirteen is slow on the draw. 

Lucifer and his team inevitably catches us listening in. Raphael tries to make up an excuse but Thirteen is all like "hell naw, we WERE eavesdropping on you so what" and unleashes the Octopus trap on Solomon. Once the trap ensnares someone, it makes them see hallucinations of whatever they desire the most. It ensnares Mephisto and he dreams about golden demonus, while Lucifer and Solomon seem to resist its effects.

Raphael asks us to bind the transfixed Mephisto via spell. We do so, and Solomon admires our skillz.

Mephisto figures it out they’re supposed to get one of Thirteen’s traps right after we get him. Thirteen  gets offended at everyone misidentifying her traps.

Lucifer undoes our spell and they get right down to business. At Raphael's behest, we run off.

But of course they teleport.

This is a really unfair match up.

We get to flex our magic skills as we attempt to repel Solomon's magic... all the while he compliments us. Thirteen apparently notices and doesn't take this well for... some reason?

And attacks us instead.

The attack she unleashes at us puts a giant hole in the side of the school building and Lucifer is none too happy about it, so he jumps in and engages Thirteen. Thirteen is all too happy to participate, but Raphael tries to de-escalate the situation.

Solomon wants to fight us some more aaaaand...

Mammon interjects! And sounds reasonable. He proposes solving the conflict with a demonopede race, which is the Devildom equivalent of a three-legged race. Lucifer is naturally suspicious.

We agree to the suggestion when Barbatos and Simeon finally start to urge us.

Of course it was all a scheme. Mammon has tied us together using enchanted rope he got from the Anti-Lucifer League earlier. His team needs the Book of Incantations, which he mistakes the grimoire for (surprise: the grimoire isn't elaborated upon further at all -- it's just a plot macguffin). He keeps gloating while his team, in vain, tries to get him to check to make sure it's the right book. He runs off, leaving the other teams literally tangled up.

We try to use magic to undo the ropes, but apparently the enchantment just reflects whatever magic used on it. Mephisto declares he isn't going to suffer this humilation any further and attempts to run after Mammon while still tied up, setting off a chain reaction of everyone grabbing at and falling on top of each other.

Lucifer eventually jumps into his demon form and brute forces everyone out of their binds. We conveniently manage to break out of our own binds shortly afterwards through... more magic I guess?

We teleport the octopus trap away before Lucifer can get his hands on it. Unfortunately...

... We teleport it to the finish line. Great work, team.

We run off to the coliseum, where the octopus trap and the grimoire await us. Mammon turns in the book to Diavolo, who reveals that it is predictably not the book Mammon was assigned to acquire and disqualifies his team. In his frustration, Mammon flippantly flings the grimoire to the ground. The seal on the octopus reacts to the grimoire which summons a stronger-than-usual chimera.

It attacks Simeon. Lucifer, Barbatos, and Raphael jump in to save him while Mammon notes that Simeon should have no problem handling the chimera himself and loudly wonders why he isn't using his magic. This is how he presumably figures out that Simeon can't use it any more (though he doesn't come to that conclusion in this lesson).

The chimera is warded off and the others tell Mammon to stop questioning Simeon while they're all being attacked. We combine all our powers to --

-- wait, no. Diavolo wants our team to do it alone. You see, up until this point we didn't demonstrate we work well together at all, and that was supposed to be part of our trial. Thirteen and Raphael are ready to take responsibility.

And Raphael steps up to be the actual strategist and do our job, essentially. We just follow his plan.

It works and we win. Lucifer turns in the octopus trap and wins the contest. And Diavolo makes a looooot of assumptions. That concludes the lesson.

Predictions

We’ll never hear about that grimoire ever again.

The next lesson will simply be a continuation of the sports festival with more sports/team-related shenanigans. I will say these past couple lessons have given us a good idea of how the new characters generally behave: Mephisto is a snob who likes to upshow Lucifer, Raphael is the “normal” smart guy who doesn’t get super energetic about anything, and Thirteen is obnoxious and rarely thinks things through (Raph’s opposite).

Thirteen and Raphael were centered in this lesson, so I’m hoping we get more of Mephisto in the following lesson. Since Mammon now knows Simeon can’t whip out the angel magic any more, he’s likely going to be insistent on having the questions he had answered, so that’ll be interesting.

Do you still play OM? I was wondering what you thought of the new characters n if you're excited for S4? I'm pretty excited for both tbh.

I do in fact still play OM. I am excited for all the hijinx that the boys will get into with us, and now, we have three more characters! I follow the Instagram and they revealed glimpses into the new characters, so I’ll go through them all.

Thirteen: She/they, I’m guessing, seems like a very enigmatic character, but it is revealed that she likes making traps, so she gives off a bit of chaotic that seems unique to the chaotic neutral that Lucifer’s brothers give off. She kind of gives off a vibe like, she’s the kind of girl who sniffs you and tells you the exact flavor of Dove body wash, and the exact scent, kind, and brand of deodorant you use, and then gives it to you as a custom bath set on Christmas. She’s an oddball, but be glad she is your and Solomon’s oddball. I’m excited for her, and for all we know, she’s human. ^^

Mephistopheles: The long anticipated, semi-notorious Mephisto/Mephi. If you pay attention to the Chats of the game, Mephi is/was the head of the Newspaper Club at RAD, until he got in trouble with the popularity polls led by the Newspaper Club. He gave himself the No. 10 spot and bumped Mammon’s up to the number one spot, putting Lord Diavolo and Lucifer as numbers 2 and 3 respectively, causing an inevitable uproar, and lead to Mammon and Mephi being disqualified completely, and Mephi resigned. I don’t know if there was more that happened with Mephi, but I’m excited to see what Mephi is about. Although, some demon named Astaroth came in 9th, I wanted to know more about this Astaroth character, but maybe later down the road? Idk. Mephi looks very cheery, but he also seems like kind of a doormat, I mean, if he was willing to risk his position to give Mammon of all demons the number one spot of popularity, Mephi must be pretty easy to manipulate, or gullible? I’m not sure, I’m excited for him.

Raphael: And finally another long anticipated character since the end of third season. I knew they were gonna introduce another Angel character, granted, I wanted Michael, but he’s leading the Celestial Realm, so he couldn’t be an exchange student. But on Instagram he is known as being calm, but can get pretty intense. So we have an even more stoic character other than Beel. But when he gives one of his rare smiles, he’s very charming. So we get someone who may be more dashing than Lucifer, and possibly more by the book than Lucifer as well. He kinda seems like a stickler for the rules, but that’s what I got from the info on obey_me_official on Instagram. Also, he’s wearing a sleeveless shirt with bicep length gloves I believe? So his ✨S H O U L D E R S✨ the holy shoulders.

Anyways, I am excited, but I’m a bit confused as to why Mephi is an exchange student... does this mean we are going to be going to another school? Or back to the Devildom? Or maybe it’s a field trip to the Celestial Realm? Or maybe it’s something entirely new?! What is going on?!?! We shall find out in one-two days when they finally release Lesson 61, and finally kick off Season 4! ^^ LET’S GO!

The Rescue (Don Giorno x Fem! reader)

More self indulgence, not my best 😩, a bit angsty in the beginning but... ❤️💭

TW: Part 5 spoilers, references to major character death

It’s believed that the pivotal events of your life flash before your eyes like an old movie reel just before you’re about to die… what occupied your vision first though, was an extremely distraught Giorno running towards you. It was strange seeing his usually stoic face contorted in such grief. Your heart stung, although you weren’t sure if it was from your physical injuries or your emotional anguish.

It was supposed to be a simple reconnaissance mission, in and out, observe and leave if there were no threats to Giorno’s new rule, or dispose of any threats if they aimed to disturb the peace. So when you hadn’t returned after a few hours Giorno was concerned. He was reluctant to send you on your own, however, after much pestering, he was reminded that there were few he trusted as much as you. He had faith in your abilities, after all, you fought Diavolo right beside him, and your stand ability was perfect for missions such as this…

There it was again, that suffocating, ominous feeling that seethed in his gut and forced the bile into the back of his throat. Clutching the arrow desperately, he summons his stand and furiously rushes out to go find you. The scene that had greeted Giorno had him frozen in panic for a moment. For the first time, he didn’t have a plan, he couldn’t read the situation and he had no idea on how to save you. What he did know was that, regardless of the circumstances failure was not an option.

As he ran toward you, GER had materialized in all their golden glory… suddenly the noose of panic around his neck had loosened, and he saw a way forward. Swallowing his rage by clenching his jaw shut, Giorno encased you in cage of beautiful vines, ensuring any further attacks on you would rebound towards the enemy.

In your weakened state, you tried to alert Giorno to the enemy that attacked you. A stand user who was concealing his presence had managed to best you, so it was only logical to warn the Don of this threat too... but you didn’t need to as he saw through their ruse.

“Typical Gio, always light-years ahead of everyone else,” you mused, unsure if you had vocalized those thoughts or not. Your eyelids felt like they were weighted by lead, and a sickly squelching sound filled your ears as you tried to push yourself off your back with a badly battered elbow. The effort expended was too much, your consciousness finally faded as you limply fell back.

There it was again… the reel, only this time, there was someone watching beside you. Someone familiar, warm… someone who exuded kindness.

“Piccolina…” there was only one person in the world who called you that. Your head whipped around with breakneck speed, to meet the beautiful sapphire orbs staring at you. You turned around completely and tried to touch Bruno but your hand just phased through his.

“It seems like you’re stuck between realms piccolina, you need to try your hardest to go back to your body,” his voice was gentle and it was clear he was very concerned, as much as he would have loved to have you stay there, there was so much waiting for you on the other side, dreams that needed to be realized, a young man who so desperately loved you.

You were utterly and completely conflicted. On the one hand you just wanted some peace, you knew that you were expendable, and people would move on as they inevitably do. On the other hand, you felt a strong sense of duty to those who had survived, you had to prove your worth and make everything count… had you even done enough yet? Images from your past flashed in front of you, some filled you with sorrow, depicting your most painful memories, others with joy, showing you all the things… and the people you hold dear.

“You must go back now,” Bruno repeated, “before its too late, Giorno needs you,”

“I’m easily replaced, I’m not even that strong… I want to stay here with you! Everything hurts there… physically, emotionally… I’m just so tired.”

Your words hung as if frozen in midair.

It hurt Bruno to see you in such anguish, but as much as he wanted to reach out and comfort you, he couldn’t. All he could do was draw your attention to the scene playing out before you, it seems like you were at the end of your reel, and all you could see before you was a desolate, disheveled looking Giorno, trying with every fiber of his being to revive you. You couldn’t explain how you felt seeing Giorno in that state, but you knew you couldn’t allow it to continue under any circumstance. With a final smile of encouragement from Bruno, you decided to go back, a searing pain took over your body and your senses were going berserk, you felt as if you were both hyperaware and about to pass out all at the same time, until finally you opened your eyes.

When your eyes finally focused, Giorno sighed out of relief seeing the life slowly tugging at your beautiful features once more.

“You look like hell, Don”, you quipped with a lilt of humor to your voice, trying to lighten the tense mood. Your remark was met by a grimace.

“I only look like this because of you, how could you be so reckless? Don’t you realize the gravity of your actions? Do you even spare a thought for the people who care about you? I thought I lost you,”

Giorno’s voice was a whisper as he uttered the last few words, your heart clenched.

“Gio, I’m sorry, I just didn’t want you to worry about me. ”

“How can I not worry about you cara, I love you!” The words rolled off his tongue before he could even think about what he was saying. The change in his expression displayed his steeled resolve. “You heard me, I really do love you, we can discuss this later on though, for now, let’s go home and get you cleaned up, so be a good girl for me, okay?”

“I guess I’m really the one who looks like hell, no?” you said nodding sheepishly, painfully aware of the blood and other debris clinging onto your hair and clothes.

None of that seemed to faze Giorno as he picked you up effortlessly and carried you to the car. Looking up at him, felt like you were actually seeing him for the first time, you don’t know when he had become so mature and self assured.

The drive home was a quiet one, left to your own musings to try and organize your thoughts. You were certain you had had a bizarre dream, but you just couldn’t remember no matter how much you tried.

That you had managed to convince Giorno that you were strong enough to clean yourself up was a feat in itself. When you finally got out, Giorno was waiting for you, wanting to check you for any other injuries that may have escaped him. Unsure of how to handle this new side to him, you silently obeyed, not wanting to challenge him unnecessarily.

Taking the jagged ends of your hair in his fingers with a frown, he made a mental note to get someone to fix that for you. The same hand that was examining your hair had found its way to your chin, tilting your face up to allow his lips to easily connect with yours. You melt into the kiss as if being pulled in by a magnetic force, it felt like the most natural thing in the world, as if the negative spaces of the contours of his body were there to accommodate the contours of yours, fitting together like the pieces of a puzzle.

All too soon, the magical kiss had ended, leaving you both yearning for more.

“You’re exhausted bella, come, you should rest,”

“As are you Giogio, won’t you stay here with me?”

Giorno contemplated the mountain of work that awaited him in his study, especially after the today’s events, but your beautiful, innocent expression was all the convincing he needed to stay with you.

“Of course bella, it’s been a long day,” and with that, you both settled into bed, leaning into each other as if it was what you were both created to do.

Jojo for the fandom ask <33

The first character I first fell in love with: Kakyoin <3 The whole reason I dove head first into this Bizarre Adventure. Thank you to my dnd friends for having a random episode on when I showed up 🥺

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Tied at Polnareff and William Zeppeli I suppose. Polnareff started winning my heart when I'd look up Kak things and I saw what a goofball and lovable man he is. The rest was inevitable. My Will Zep loving came out of FUCKING NOWHERE though.

The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Rohan I guess. I feel like we'd get into a bitch slap fight cuz he'd insult me and then I'd get ANGRY. Same kinda goes for Yukako. She'd get short with me once and that wouldn't end well for either of us.

The character I love that everyone else hates: I don't think I have one. Underrated would be small Part 1 characters like Will Zep and Dire, but I don't think I really love a much hated character.

The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Okuyasu for personal reasons but I am doing everything in my power to love him again, I promise. I don't want to dislike him. I will succeed and adore him once more.

The character I would totally smooch: Do I even need to answer this one. (Jonathan, Speedwagon, Will Zep, Joseph, Caesar, Polnareff, Kakyoin, Avdol, Josuke, Mikitaka, Okuyasu, Bruno, Mista, Narancia.)

The character I’d want to be like: If I could be more like Speedwagon or Jonathan I think I'd be damn proud of myself 😭

The character I’d slap: DIO AND THE PILLAR MEN AND DIAVOLO AND ALSO ONE SLAP TO ROHAN BECAUSE I KNOW HED GIVE ME LIP. Basically any character who hurt one of my faves. Yall ain't getting away with this shit.

Donatella and Diavolo for the ask game? (And maybe Squatizi? 🦈)

For Squatizi- I remember the mix of surprise and excitement I felt when I saw the two of them on my first watch of VA. At that point, I had kind of just assumed that Jojo had no actually on-screen LGBT+ characters (The only canonical non-cishet at that point was DIO, whose bisexuality was only confirmed by Araki and is never actually stated or shown in the work) and was simply popular with the community due to its general nature (which does appeal to a lot of gay subcultures and tastes in that way). The notorious Bury-Your-Gays moment with Sorbet and Gelato didn't help either.

So, when Tiziano and Squalo showed up, going so far as to fondle each other on-screen, I just went "holy shit". These two are actually gay? And we get to see it? Honestly, I cared less about the fight in that arc and was just interested in seeing what would be done with those two- I suppose it wasn't explicitly stated they were together, but the on-screen groping was kind of enough to tip you off. Just for that reason, I do have a fondness for them, and I do understand why people love them and mess around with them so much in fanon.

Though, while the novelty of an actual gay couple in Jojo excites me alone, much of their writing still frustrates me and they were far from what I'd consider "good representation". They had very little screentime and were really less two individual characters and more just two halves of one whole. The fight itself was underwhelming (which you articulated perfectly in a previous post of yours) and Squalo dying almost instantly after Tiziano instead of putting up any sort of fight after his mantra of revenge was disappointing. While "good representation" is not exactly my expectation knowing... the way Jojo is, it was still annoying.

I do like them and enjoy how people take their characters and expand upon the underwhelming amount that canon gives. They're not my favorite couple and I don't talk about them a lot, but I certainly favor the pairing and see why people focus on them so much.

As for Diavolo and Donatella: As you might've guessed, I have many thoughts about the two of them. I don't know how long this is going to be, so I'll put this under a cut.

I would not say I think about Donatella and Diavolo as a pairing in a particularly "shippy" way. In a lot of ways, I don't even really see them as a romance. They only interacted for an extremely short period of time, at about a few weeks maximum, and despite apparently growing attached enough to sleep together, they barely found out anything about each other and Diavolo abandoned her without so much as giving her his name.

I find Donatella incredibly interesting (and frustrating) to think about just for that reason. Diavolo is obviously extremely avoidant of people and has been so for his entire life, using aliases since he was young, killing his mother and burying her under his house's floorboards, and then killing his adoptive father and burning down his town when he found out. In all other ways, he shows dangerous precision, determination, and intelligence when it comes to erasing himself from the world.

So, on one hand, Donatella is a really interesting deviance in his behavior and a representation of the moral of Diavolo's character. Connecting and being known by other people is simply a part of being human; Diavolo tries his hardest to scrub every trace of his existence away and isolate himself in the search of evading the inevitable pitfalls of being human, but this is an impossible task. Even one little connection from years ago- in this case, a brief fling- spiralled into an unignorable marker of his existence, and that led to his downfall.

For anyone else, a brief date as a teenager would hardly be anything remarkable or consequential, but for Diavolo, his goal to erase himself completely just multiplies the consequences of any and all relationships he's had. What would likely be a connection anyone else would overlook is instead the main reason for the fall of Diavolo's empire. (You also have the fact that Diavolo was apparently irresponsible enough to get Donatella pregnant, which could say something about how Diavolo's avoidance of relationships makes him act haphazardly and make big mistakes in the relationships he did have.)

However, at the same time, Donatella is... odd to think about (and I believe this is also part of why she's talked about as little as possible in the story). It's very hard for me to imagine Diavolo, someone shown to be secretive since he was very young, having a fling with a random girl out of nowhere. Sure, him having a relationship could work, but a seemingly random brief date leading to an accident-baby just seems off and hard to imagine considering everything else we know about him. Believably expanding upon the idea with more detail while keeping Diavolo in character sounds rather difficult, which is why I think Vento Aureo just doesn't bother doing it. (Also, why would someone date and then sleep with a guy whose name they don't even know?)

Not to mention, throughout the entire story, in all of Diavolo's spiels about how the past is coming back to haunt him, I do not believe he ever even says Donatella's name. Trish only mentions her once when prompted in the Notorious B.I.G. arc, and the only information she gives about her father are the basic facts that he was Sardinian and briefly dated her mother as a teenager. We learn essentially nothing about the relationship that these two had to Donatella, and that's a big problem.

Diavolo is at least built to be mysterious, but Trish... isn't. Could she not have asked Donatella about what her father was like personality-wise during any point in her life? Did she have no opinion on what she was like as a mother? Did she garner no opinion on her father before it was revealed he was a crime boss?

While I can speculate, it's obvious to me that Donatella pretty much only exists in the story as a plot reason why Diavolo has a daughter and not much thought was put into her or this detail of Diavolo's past beyond that. I think it's equally hard for others to envision this, which is part of the reason why the misconception of Trish actually being Doppio's daughter is a thing; the anime even plays into this by expanding on their backstory to have Doppio be the one to meet Donatella instead.

However, as I've said before, we know that this isn't true and this anime addition is in fact kind of a plot hole. We see that Doppio doesn't recognize Donatella, being unreactive when holding a picture of her in both the manga and anime and laughing at the concept of having a daughter or a girlfriend.

This anime change is especially irritating considering the fact that there are other implications in how Donatella apparently knew Diavolo and not Doppio. According to their backstory in the manga, the described personality that their adoptive father and village came to know them as is "cowardly and clumsy, yet open-hearted"- describing Doppio to a T.

For clarification, the manga goes on to state that in the Jojo universe, people with DID have alters that are fully present since adolescence.

This suggests that both Diavolo and Doppio were around since early childhood, but the village people and his father only knew Doppio- which makes sense, because knowing Diavolo, he would probably keep to himself. So, then, the fact that Donatella apparently knew Diavolo and Doppio doesn't even recognize her would say something really interesting about their relationship alone; what made Diavolo comfortable enough to show himself to her? What prompted him to go out and meet her in the first place?

Also, this may be a bit of a tangent, but I really dislike how they attempt to characterize Donatella in the anime. Her dialogue comes across as extremely stilted and odd, which makes sense, considering it's just her repeating the list of Trish's interests in the manga. (Literally- rewatch the scene and compare it to the page.)

Unlike Trish, she gets no characterization beyond this "I love sparkling water and I hate smelly men and anything that isn't beautiful" spiel- honestly, she somehow comes off as more shallowly written than the grand total of zero lines she got in the manga... but I digress.

Diavolo and Donatella are really interesting to me, but the information we get about them in canon is almost less than bare-bones, which I find to be one of the major flaws in the story. (Seriously, Jojo's creation of really interesting implications about characters and then simply refusing to do anything with them is one of its most annoying tendencies, and it especially shows with Diavolo.) I do enjoy people attempting to expand upon them in fanworks with the very little we get, but I don't know if I'd call that "shipping"; just expanding upon a hinted relationship. All in all, it's a pairing with a lot of food for thought.

Birthdays for the new characters?

Please devs, for all that is holy, when they’re inevitably upgraded to full cast members do not randomly assign birthdays for the new kids or make them align with holidays like you did with Diavolo. I have a feeling his was an exception more than a rule because you do space them out well otherwise, but I digress. The calendar is getting crowded.

My recommendations are thus:

January 10 September 30 November 20

It’s boring because they’re all even numbers -- you can add or subtract a day or two for spice -- but these days ensure there’s at least twenty days between two characters. If you want astrological signs to match personalities or something, I guess it could go like this:

Raphael = January 10/Capricorn Mephisto = September 30/Libra Thirteen = November 20/Scorpio

This is all based on just vibes because we haven’t actually interacted with them yet but lets be honest that’s all astrology is anyway.
