When Dick's parent's fell, his first thought was, "This can't be happening." His second thought was, "What's going to happen to me and my brother now?"

The answer? His brother was older than him, much older. Old enough that he could stay with the circus. But Dick? Dick couldn't stay with Danny. He was too young.

So Bruce Wayne took him in, offered to take Danny in too. Dick begged his brother to join him, but Danny didn't. He smiled at Dick, ruffled his hair, and told him he'd be waiting at the circus for when Dick returned. Promised to send postcards and letters.

Then he was gone. And Dick never returned to the circus.

They really do have a lot in common!#Maybe it is because they are similar that they can't make it work past the war.#Maybe it is the similarities that make JC feel even worse about WWX drifting away from him and towards LWJ.#This is all to say I think the dynamic between LJW and JC is very interesting and not something I see talked about.#In the *end* it becomes something along the lines of 'LWJ ignores JC' but god. Missing the same person so painfully.#The grieving takes very different form but they both still grieve the same person - essentially in isolation from everyone else.#Other notes I *need* to add: The end of ep 13 took me out with the falling scream. Why did they do it like that?#Genuinely the funniest thing I have heard.#I like to imagine he fell plinko style. Bumping around on random branches and ghosts for 3 months.

When Liam created a grieving widower he went all in on being a grieving widower.

Orym misses his husband Will so much. He cares so much for him and because of it he is crushingly lonely at night, even when being spooned by his best friends.

But time doesn't sit still for the living. So years go by for the widower. And he meets someone who brushes upon some feelings that he had held for only his husband for years.

"I really miss Dorian and sometimes I think that's okay and sometimes I think it isn't"

The feelings exist, it's undeniable, and sometimes he feels indulgent. But because those feelings are so wrapped up with Will, wouldn't it, in Orym's eyes, feel like a betrayal?

So he feels those feelings and then guilt trips himself over it.

What I love about Hellboy and Abe Sapien's dynamic in the comics is that, if you came into this blind, you'd expect Abe to be the voice of reason or the straight man to Hellboy's impulsive and hotheaded personality. But no, Abe is more often than not the crazy one. Hellboy would deal with fighting evil monsters and bad guys by just sighing and getting it over with, while Abe is going rabid over tearing the creature apart when he does get into a fight. Hellboy acts like it's a 9-to-5 job and will reasonably talk things out with a guy that had nearly killed him before, Abe acts like a madman in a slaughter house and his first instinct is to shoot first kill second and ask third. They're both insane, but on completely different levels.

#wheres that one comic where abe gets into a mission and has to tear down a monster with an axe #then at the end when hellboy appears and sees abe going ham while covered in blood. he's like ''oh hey abe. good job you're doing there''#hellboy was not even worried for a second. he trusts abe to handle things on his own #they both trust each other to do their job but they also know when they can handle a fight on their own and will help if needed.#their trust and bond with each other is so implicit but speaks volumes. they dont need to say anything. they just know #we talk so much about hellboy being like. an alright guy and a whole lot kinder than the world treats him. and that's right #but it really does make Abe look fucking batshit wild in comparison because of it #the entirety of the abe sapien comics is that the guy is on his hinges and the only thing keeping him sane before was his job (which is #debatable.) and the bprd. mostly hellboy and liz and kate and roger. johan and ben are a weird case but he does kinda care about them #i love abe btw. he's such an interesting critter. absolutely crazy maniac of a guy.#tbf i dont blame him considering his backstory. if i went through some of the shit he did; i would not be sane either #also. the moments post hellboy's death in the comics where abe is trying to deal with his passing but never directly says anything about it #until he was confronted by hellboy in his dream. thats the cool bit yknow. we dont need to be told Abe was grieving about hellboy #we just knew he wasn't handling it well. using present tense when talking about hellboy to other people. avoiding saying his name.#its great stuff #the fire burns #hellboy #hellboy comics #abe sapien

the fact that people still use the "no one would talk to a friend that way" "no one would grieve for someone like that if it was just platonic" etc arguments to prove a ship is canon is so annoying to me. yes i get it, we got queerbaited hard but where does it say that romance has to be higher than a friendship or no one said friends couldn't also be lovers or vice versa....? i normally say "popular media tropes that usually are for romance" when i talk about fiction but pulling a blanket statement like "NO ONE talks to a friend that way" is so invalidating to so much of our queer experiences. the beauty of queer friendship literally lies in the emotional fulfilment we get from our friends in a way that i don't normally see in cishet friendships for whatever reasons. so idk it's just been bothering me to see these kinds of posts every now and then. "you wouldn't do [x] for your friends" i would actually. i would sell my soul for them. i would kill for them and kill myself for them. i would do anything for my friends that i would do for a partner. the "proof" for a ship doesn't have to be by invalidating their friendship. also like aren't most of the ships so powerful when they're also each other's closest friends? do y'all not think of your partners as your best friends?

#sorry for the rant #i know that popular media tropes have changed our mindset on romqnce #it wasn't a thing in my country but now the dating scene is so westernised that it's the same here #im not saying people can't experience romance or friendship differently #in the context of queer people specifically i've noticed that most people struggle to differentiate between platonic and romantic feelings #and often feel a mixture of both or somewhere outside both #it's intense! Extremely torn whenever canon deals with Caleb’s past relationships because whenever the cast discusses them there’s a weird fixation on Astrid, and then I have to be torn because on one hand it’s “fuck yeah!!! In the episode before, we spent an hour in Carmy's memories, and then in the next episode, Richie grants us more insight into Carmy's problems. I also like that despite the venom between Richie and Carmy, Richie still offers Carmy advice like an open heart and mind and a chance to join the dream weave.

It's easier to scare kids than one thinks. Every year on Halloween I set up an altar and light candles to offer candy to those in my life who have passed on and every year without fail at least one trick-or-treater will ignore the candy I give them for the ones on the table. All it takes is a calm "Might not want those, they're for the dead" for that kid to hide behind their parent and stare at me in horror. Probably doesn't help i'm usually dressed as a witch, but it's not like they can hang me about it anymore. HAH. Have a Kitkat, kid.
