HEHE THANK YOU BABYYY!! 💖🫶💖 I set this one a good ways into season three because I felt that it was a good amount of time for the 'audience' both to sit with Brea and Kepler as characters as well as give their relationship time to develop! It's also just before shit really hits the fan and gets serious ._.

S3E10 - “Kith and Kin” - Kepler and Brea are called on a mission to Lothal alongside Anakin and the 501st where an ancient Jedi temple is rumored to be in danger as the treacherous Count Dooku plans to steal it's secrets! Their task is to stop him before he discovers it's location and keep it safe from his clutches.

When they arrive, a strange pull immediately grips Kepler, seemingly beckoning him towards something. Believing it may be a clue to the location of the temple, they decide to follow it, only to be led to a humble abode wherein the married couple Idris and Nadia Quinn reside…Kepler's birth parents.

Nadia recognizes him right away, and why shouldn't she when he's the spitting image of his father? They're invited inside for some food and drink, to which Kepler is a bit apprehensive, as is Brea. She excuses herself for a brief moment to touch base with Anakin as he and the clones continue to search for Dooku on foot and expresses her worries that Kepler will want to leave the Jedi Order to be with his parents. To which Anakin tells her that he also wished to be with his mother after joining the Order and that Kepler would make the decision he feels is best in the end.

Brea tries to accept this, and they're both treated well by the Quinns. She notices that Kepler does seem to be very at ease and even curious about them in a way she's never seen before. However, they soon bring focus back to their mission, and through useful information from the Quinns they're able to track down the information they need to locate the hidden temple and intercept Dooku before he makes it there, Brea protects Kepler from his advances even though she's outmatched and even sustains some injuries until Anakin and the battalion arrive. Together they drive him off the planet, mission accomplished.

While regrouping and getting ready to ship off, Kepler stays by Brea's side as she tries to catch her breath, refusing medical assistance as she feels the clones need it more, and anyway she can heal herself through the Force. She feels Kepler's guilt at needing to be protected, that he can't do enough despite his rank as Padawan. She responds to this by telling him that he's advanced leaps and bounds since she took him on as a Padawan and that he should be proud of his progress, he's honed his instincts to the point where he helped put them both ahead of Dooku, one of the most feared beings in the galaxy. She adds onto that thought, that he can trust himself and his intuition…even if it leads him away from her. He seems almost confused by this, asking her what she means. She explains that she sees another side of him when he's with his parents, and that if he wants to stay with them she wants that to be HIS choice. No one else should get to make it for him.

He almost seems taken aback by it, and after consideration he explains that he barely knows them. He feels like they would accept him if he did come back, but they don't know him either. He knows Brea, and she's the first person to even TRY to know him. He's got so much more to learn from her too, and he's not going to leave her side. Despite her efforts, she pulls him into a hug and cries messily into his hood while trying to express how relieved she is through sniffles. In the final scene, Kepler bids his parents goodbye, his mother pinching his cheeks and holding his face as if to get a good look at him before they part ways so she can remember him. She hugs him for a long time, whispering something into his ear that Brea considers asking him about, but decides that it's his to tell if he so chooses.

Nadia then turns to Brea and pulls her into a hug as well, her embrace is soft and warm and comforting, as a mother should be. She whispers to Brea, thanking her for taking care of her baby boy, nearly causing her to burst into tears again. As the ship departs, heading towards the atmosphere of Lothal there's a sense of bittersweet longing that seems to permeate them both. In their hearts they each hope this won't be the last time they see Lothal and the Quinns.

There's a fic I've been (slowly) working on that features Kirk being just about the Only person on the ship who can read Spock's expressions, simply because he Likes Spock (not even romantically at first, he just sees Spock and goes, 'friend-shaped <3'.) and therefore pays attention, where he winds up being like. a Spock-interpreter for everyone else. (Captain, is he mad at me?? Captain, are my questions annoying him? Captain, did he like my joke? Captain, I feel like Spock hates me. etc.)

and the reason I bring this up is because I think there's a lot of potential in a Different version of this, where Kirk is still the only one who can read Spock's emotions, but this time, it's because they managed to spontaneously bond like. immediately. and neither of them realize this for a good while, because what are the odds that you're So Compatible with someone that your minds just Instantly glue themselves together? They're astronomical, that's what they are.

Except, a year or three into the mission, Spock discovers the bond. and panics. and blocks it. Of course he does! It's an egregious breach of telepathic etiquette! (Or, it would be, if he'd done it on purpose.) He has No Idea how long it's been there - he assumes it must be new. And, once the bond is blocked, by a Spock who is absolutely swamped with shame that he could let that happen to his own captain and dear friend, Kirk suddenly. cannot read Spock's emotions. And then he panics, because ohmigod i can't read him is he mad at me what did i do does he hate me???? (everyone else on this ship is baffled. they're like 'his face has literally not changed?? what do you mean you can't read him now??)

and eventually, they figure out what happened, and that they love each other, and then restore the bond to its original state and kiss and what not. but they angst about it for a bit first, and possibly have to get their heads slammed together by bones before that happens.

Turns out, being placed in a civilian family who have no knowledge of your background is actually detrimental to the health and development of a child assassin due to lack of proper support! Surrounded by strangers in a foreign city, Danyal Al Ghul does as assassins do best. He hides. Espionage is one of many teachings one learns in the League, and it only takes half a day for Danyal to construct a new persona to hide behind: Daniel Fenton.

By the time dinner rolls around, Danyal al Ghul is safely and securely tucked behind the face of Danny Fenton; brand new adoptive child of the Fenton family who came from overseas. A shy, quiet little boy with a thick accent and curly hair, with brown skin and blue eyes, and an avid interest in the stars. The best fictions are always cobbled together in a little bit of truth, it's some of the only truth he ever lets through. He apologizes in a meek voice for his behavior early, he didn't mean to be rude, and he watches the three of them eat it up with coos.

Lies roll like silk against his lips, he struggles to meet their eyes and offers them his weakest, shyest smile. It's too easy. It's easy to go from there.

Danny Fenton, adoptive son, shy and awkward and unconfident but friendly. Who struggles in his classes and isn't the brightest, but tries his hardest. He makes bad jokes and has a quick tongue and a sarcastic mouth. He wants to be an astronaut. He's got the best aim in school, and is a terrifying dodgeball player. He's one of the least athletic kids in his grade.

It's like playing two truths and a lie, but there's only one truth, and the rest are lies. It's easy to pretend when he knows it's insincere.

Danyal Al Ghul, grandson to the Demon Head. Deadly, trained assassin. Has spilled blood, has had blood spilt from. Environmentalist, animal activist. He loves the stars. He owns a calligraphy set. A sharp tongue, an even sharper blade. He's clever, quick-witted, he would be top of his grade if he tried harder. He purposely doesn't.

He misses his family. He misses his mother, and he misses his brother. Mother visits a few times a year, so few times that he can count it on both hands. He cherishes every visit, as brief as they are. It helps remind him who he is.

Sam and Tucker are Danny's best friends. They've never met Danyal, but Danyal's met them.

It becomes routine to become Danny Fenton. As familiar and as easy as pulling on a shirt in the morning. Danyal wakes up and is always first to the bathroom in the mornings; stares at himself in the mirror until he can finally see Danny staring back at him. At night, he locks his door and sheds the mask.

Dying throws a wrench in his mask; splits a crack straight through the porcelain. He's able to smooth it over with sandpaper and liquid gold, but it's a little hard keeping his ghost form under wraps. It instinctively wants to shift to show his true self. Danyal can't have that, he's spent four years as Danny Fenton, he'll spend another four as him as well. Even if the feeling of the hazmat suit in his ghost form feels restrictive, like a too-small shirt suctioned to his skin that needs to be peeled off.

He'll live. Er-- well, you know what he means. It's frustrating however, trying to keep his Danny Fenton mask up even as Phantom - fighting in the air is something he needs to get used to, and the sudden propping of powers throws him off. But he is nothing if not adaptive, and he hates that he needs to slow his own skills down in order to keep pretenses up in front of Sam and Tucker.

The first time Danyal summons a sword when he's alone, is one of the few times Danyal gets to grin instead of Danny. He's fighting Skulker, and from an invisible hilt he draws a katana from thin air. It startles them both. Skulker takes a step back at the smile that spreads across his face.

They're both silent as Danyal examines his new sword.

"Do you know what people like me do to people like you, poacher?" Danyal finally asks him, the accent he began to hide a few months in slipping through. He drops all pretense, dragging the flat end of the blade slow and appreciatively against his palm. It's a good make, and when he cuts it through the air, it slices through like butter. He looks up at Skulker with a smile; "are you ready to find out?"

When Sam and Tucker ask about why Skulker seems so skittish around Danny now, Danny shrugs at them and says with a playful smile; "I don't know, I guess I kicked his butt too hard after our last fight." and he watches as Sam rolls her eyes exasperatedly, and Tucker snickers with his own joke.

By the time he reunites with Damian before their 15th birthday, Danyal is buried beneath so many layers of Danny Fenton that his brother will need a shovel to dig him out. He's not sure what he'll find.
