Random Trains I Found Part 2:
So, I did a Part 1, and now I'm doing a Part 2 because there are many trains, and I enjoy procrastinating on just about everything. With this in mind, here's what I have in store:
Southern Pacific MC-1:
Tumblr media
Ok, so these things were behemoths - 2-8-8-2 American giants which were built in 1908. And while they weren't the most useful engines built on this earth, they lived surprisingly long... as rebuilt cab-forward engines. Yup, the Southern Pacific swapped them around and turned them into Cab-Forward locomotives in the 1920s, having been the basis for the MC-2 and later AC models of Cab-Forward. Not a bad legacy!
SNCB Type 36:
Tumblr media
Big Belgians! This 1909 class of 2-10-0 was built to work heavy freight trains over hilly terrain. And if you know anything about European history, then you'll know this class got caught up in WWI - only, for some reason they ended up in Russia, Poland and Ukraine? The reason for that is that they were sold to Russia to work lines in occupied, standard gauge Austrian territory (and Ukraine?) Five of them were eventually returned by the Poles. The type also influenced the L&YR to design their own 2-10-0... that wasn't built because of the same war.
Royal Bavarian State Railways S 3/6:
Tumblr media
I like these purely because they look fabulous - and they were the second Pacific type in Germany, after their Baden brethren. See, prior to 1920, Germany wasn't served by one single railway, but rather a number of railways built by the nations that preceded the German Empire (which was only founded in 1870). So while Prussia was busy building the P8 class, the Bavarians built this! And annoyingly, I cannot find a model of one anyone, because Marklin won't ship to where I live.
JNR 9700 Type:
Tumblr media
These engines are where we get the nickname 'Mikado' for the 2-8-2 wheel arrangement. They weren't the first 2-8-2's built, but were instead heavily promoted by Baldwin at a time when Japan was very interesting to the Western nations - a Savoy Opera of the same name had premiered in England in 1885, and Emperor Meiji was known in the US as 'the Mikado'. As for the engines? Apart from their part in wheel arrangement history, they were the most powerful engines in Japan when they arrived... but very little is actually known about their careers, only that they were scrapped in 1922.
LNWR DX Goods class:
Tumblr media
For a class built in the 1850's, these engines sure are modern! By which I mean, they built 943 of them, making it one of the largest locomotive classes in Britain and also one of the first examples of standardisation and mass-production. They were also 0-6-0s, had an equivalent tank engine class (the LNWR Special Tanks) and were all gone by 1930, with none surviving. However, considering the first was built in 1858, that is still a 72-year working life. They were rebuilt several times, caused an injunction by private companies when the L&YR bought 86 fresh from Crewe, and were the LNWR's go-to goods engine.
I still want these engines - and I have more I want to talk about in the future. Unfortunately, it's not easy to discover much about engines from outside the Anglosphere due to the lack of translations out there (I have resorted to Wikipedia in other languages, and then google translate). But it makes finding those oddities that much more fun!
And as usual, all images belong to their respective owners.

Oh. Look. It's once again been a hot minute since I've written anything!... Okay, that's a lie.
I write, then I let it sit... Usually decide it's too bleedin' cringey, and I delete the Tumblr post. But not today!
Today, I'm just going off about my special interests. Today, the brain is on ships, and the sheer sizes of them. As some ass-coverage: All images are snagged from Google. They are not accuracy checked. They belong to their respective owners, not me. Do not take my words as fact, my research has been shallow, casual, and for fun.
My housemate and I got a bit curious, as we're both big Titanic enthusiasts and plane enthusiasts- How big IS the Boeing 777x compared to the Titanic?
It was just one of those questions that popped up out of nowhere. Being an impoverished person my whole life, I've pretty much only traveled a few states outside of my landlocked rocky mountain home. The closest I've been to the ocean is Galveston, Texas. Save for a maybe 2 hour beach visit when I visited a former partner in Florida. That said, I've never seen a full size ship.
Boats? Ferries? Sure! My grandfather used to go fishing on Lake Conroe in Texas on the prettiest bass boat I know. (I may be a bit biased, hah.) But while I've never seen a full size ship in person, I've flown about... four times? So I've seen a plane up close. I think the first one I flew on was an A320, but for the love o' gigantic buffets, don't quote me on that. (Oh. Did I mention I'm waiting on dinner while writing this? A buffet sounds delightful. It has ZERO to do with this post. But maybe it'll remind someone who hasn't eaten to eat?... GO EAT.)
.... So, planes are pretty big. That much, I can tell you. But I was plenty surprised to see they're not even half of the Olympic class. Insert my first snagged photo from a shallow Google search!
Tumblr media
On my housemate and I's curiosity search, we settled on this one. There's dome size differences between a 777x and an A380, but it was one of those instances of "Close enough."
Now, to preface this question, yes, I understand buoyancy, aero/hydrodynamic shapes. I'm no engineer, and I'm REALLY not about to go into the deep science and numbers here. Not today. I have looked up how ships float, how planes fly... All while being super heavy, bulky. And loaded with people/cargo. But despite knowing this stuff, it still feckin' BAFFLES me how a big tub of steel floats. Or something weighing multiple fucktons can fly like it weighs nothing.
Even with a general understanding of the design and engineering, the science, even... It still just makes me stop and think about that. Humans are impressive.
Oh. And if you think the Olympic class looks huge compared to an A380, the Olympic trio are only about 1/3 the size of the Costa Concordia (Brief rundown: Cruise ship that hit rocks and sunk partially in 2012. I know there's some drama surrounding this creator right now, but if you're of the easily distracted mind and need some humor to keep things interesting like myself, Internet Historian on YouTube has a decent documentary on her that was quite entertaining. )
Tumblr media
No, seriously, I just snagged this off Google, it's not mine. Don't come at me. I just find it fascinating. We build these huge, heavy things and yet they float or fly like it's nothing. Just... What are the chances? That's so cool!
Tumblr media
Have a lil 747 happily wagging it's tail as my thanks for bearing with my bumbling ♡

spam’s character design tips!
Tumblr media
(various designs I’ve done! adopt characters belong to their owners, I only include them here as examples and claim no current ownership.) *disclaimer: it was 9 pages before i added pictures so i’m not inaccurate
If you would rather read this as a Google Document, please click here! (The document has more examples as well!)
Hey! My name’s Spam and I write Danganronpa: A Stormy Last Hurrah! You may also have seen my art for various stories and users around the Internet, including RATS: 252 Chances at Redemption and the Alca Ronpa series! You may ALSO also have seen my character designs, including those for ASLH as well as certain characters in Alca Ronpa and Kill the Joker: AnotheR Game! I sell adopts fairly frequently as well and have miscellaneous designs floating around the web, so I figured I may as well write something about my process. This is mostly oriented towards human OCs! So hopefully this helps someone!!
Before starting this guide, I’d like to give credit to gaiacseas/gokuhara’s “How I Design OCs: Do’s and Don’ts”! When I was designing the ASLH cast, I found myself coming back to this guide again and again. A lot of my points are the same as theirs, but I talk a bit about my own process, especially when it comes to characters that I revamp and redesign.
All uncredited art was done by me, including character designs. Characters belong to their respective owners. All other art is credited.
So let’s get started!
CONCEPTS
The first thing I’m going to say is that my character designs, especially those for myself, take absolutely FOREVER. I usually go through many, many pages of concepts and color tests before I find something I’m satisfied with. It’s a long and very constructive process, and if I’m designing a character for someone else, it can take weeks before we can find something we’re both satisfied with.
Tumblr media
Alexei Ilyich Bazhanov, ASLH’s SHSL Birdwatcher, was a design-first character, meaning that I came up with his design first and built his personality around it. Although to be fair someone who constantly wears a feathery halfmask in public is inevitably bound to be kind of dramatic, so there’s only so many ways his personality couldn’t be influenced by his design. However, his design took a bit of a downgrade from his initial design to his current iteration, largely because of his initial design’s similarity to Tatsumaru Harai, ASLH’s SHSL Kabuki Actor.
Tumblr media
In Tatsumaru’s concept sketch, you can also see the inspirations I cited for their design! I don’t consume much media, so the characters I cite as reference are often OCs in my friends’ stories. Here, I cited Minami Tachibana (Danganronpa: Dead on Arrival), Alix Murasaki (Ultimate Danganronpa: Supernova at Sea), and… Rhanahad Electricrone (Alca Ronpa 2), for some reason. I… actually don’t remember how or why any of those influences connect to Tatsumaru at all? Actually, for almost all of the ASLH characters, I scribbled down some notes on design influences and proceeded to ignore them. So maybe don’t listen to me actually. But design influences are good! Just don’t straight up copy them.
Tumblr media
ANYWAY, as you can see, Alexei and Tatsumaru both had longish coats with balloon pants. However, I had better reason to keep these traits for Tatsumaru than Alexei, because kabuki acting actually uses these elements in its costumes. Thus, it made more sense to change Alexei’s design, although I do think that he would still actually wear that original outfit. It’s very himcore.
The point is that this ended up in many, many more drafts of concept sketches until I found something I was satisfied with. Like, six pages. It was kind of insane. It’s worth it in the end to make a polished product, though!
BODIES
(Admittedly, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the best when it comes to drawing distinct body types. It’s a weakness of mine that I’m getting better at, but I’m still not great at it.)
The #1 tip I can give here is to use shape language! This is what people use in pretty much all Western cartoons - ever think about how hard it would be to take Bill Cipher seriously if he was a circle? gaiacseas goes over shape language and silhouettes in far more depth in their tutorial, so I really advise looking at it! The basics are:
CIrcles/ovals convey softness and gentleness
Rectangles convey solidity and strength
Triangles convey sharpness and distrust
Combine shapes to modify the image your character conveys!
Also, just a tip: if you’re designing a cast of characters, please don’t just make them all the same body type! In real life, if you got any random sample of people, they’re not all going to be the same body type. Diversifying your body types helps a lot to distinguish characters from each other, too. Imagine if all of these characters had the same proportions as each other - even though they all have distinct outfits, you would have a much harder time perceiving them as different people.
Tumblr media
If you’re going to draw characters of a body type you’re unfamiliar with, good for you! But first, take the time to look up guides on how to draw those body types. Studying real people also helps a lot to understand the vast varieties of body types. Just look at this picture of Olympic and Paralympic athletes from the 2016 Rio games - there’s already a ton of variations in “muscular” depending on what their sport is, and each athlete is optimized to their sport! It’s like that for literally everyone on Earth with literally every body type. There’s millions of ways to be skinny (bony? lean? malnourished?) or fat (most fat around their stomach, arms, legs?) or muscular (tall like a basketball player, dense like a weightlifter?) so make them count!
Also consider making characters with disabilities! My commentary on this as an abled person is fairly limited, but I will say to please note that what you think you know about disabilities is not necessarily true. This is in regards to their experiences having a disability, but can even apply to things you don’t think about - the wheelchairs most wheelchair-bound people use are not usually medical wheelchairs, for example. Research!!
On a related note, please don’t make racial caricatures or draw all your characters with the same facial features. People of specific ethnicities tend to (but not always) have certain features that are common to people across a regional area, but that’s no excuse to veer into drawing in the same way old racist cartoons are illustrated in. Again, there’s plenty of guides to help with learning about these! Or just look at the people around you and draw real people as practice. You’ll find the world is much more diverse than you think.
And speaking of references!! I’ve seen a lot of really good guides these days for drawing different body types and features! Go check them out go check em go!!
sdkay’s guide on drawing different facial structures (original post was deleted)
kenzandfriends’ guide on drawing fat people (original post was deleted)
nsfwbutts’ guide on drawing fat people (guide isn’t nsfw but their blog is so this is a reblog)
mel-lion’s guide on drawing black features
chuwenjie’s guide on drawing East Asian faces
“world of averages” - composite images of thousands of portraits of people from different places (re: certain facial features being common to certain ethnicities!)
calvin-arium’s guide on drawing characters in wheelchairs
Honestly if you’re looking for help just literally google “how to draw [character trait] and I GUARANTEE you there is a guide out there for you. While people not belonging to the demographic you’re drawing will probably not notice if you don’t portray groups accurately, those who are part of that demographic will be absolutely delighted.
MOTIFS
Motifs are a really neat way to make your character stand out in a crowd, especially if those motifs have meaning behind them! I mostly do this for adopts, but one of my favorite designs was Ophelia Zhang, a character I designed and proceeded to do absolutely nothing with.
Tumblr media
She’s Medusa-inspired, as is obvious because of the snake motif on her jacket and the green hair/yellow eyes combination! Maybe you didn’t notice it until I pointed out, but now that I did, it raises intrigue about her character and her connection to the myth, doesn’t it?
Aside from Ophelia, most of my (own) characters aren’t very motif-heavy, but I like having common themes and patterns that run throughout their outfits at least. It just makes the outfit blend better. Some examples of this include Claude Bates, ASLH’s SHSL Violinist, and Chiyo Kumoshita, ASLH’s SHSL Cellphone Novelist.
Tumblr media
Nonstandards are a great way of making a character Become Their Motif! Claude is based on snakes, specifically grass snakes - he’s got beady eyes, fangs, a grass snake pattern on his pants, and the combination of weird vesty jacket thing and striped shirt creates a belly scales effect. HOWEVER, he’s also got violin motifs! Most obvious are the f-hole patterns on his coat, but a more subtle thing is that his shirt has 5 stripes - a music staff (which sheet music is written on) is made of 5 lines!
(“so spam shouldn’t he have only 4 stripes on his shirt, for the 4 spaces on a music staff” shut up i realized i messed up his design too late. my orchestra director is going to kill me)
Chiyo, on the other hand, has a distinct cloud motif! This primarily is to match her surname (雲下 are the kanji for “clouds” and “under” respectively), but the other reason Chiyo has a cloud motif is because of ASLH itself - ASLH is loosely themed around the Shakespeare play The Tempest, and Chiyo, being ASLH’s protagonist, gets a “clear skies” motif. Neat!
OUTFITS
Tumblr media
(“Incinerate” is the base for Puppet from Kill The Joker: AnotheR Game!)
There is SO MUCH that can be said about outfits and how I design them. The #1 tip I have is to look at what other people wear, and then decide what it is about that outfit you like so much! If you go somewhere where people are dressed differently from what you’re used to (a distant city or a foreign country), take notes! For me, some elements I come back to a lot include collared shirts, sweaters, oversized overdecorated overcoats, and cloud/sky patterning.
So here’s a little about what makes outfits distinct from each other!
Colors:
Bro this is SO IMPORTANT. There’s a lot that can be said about color theory, and gaiacseas says more than I do on the topic, but basically color conveys a lot about the character. Muted colors convey a muted personality, and brighter colors convey a brighter one! As gaiacseas says in their guide, however, this sets up a great way to subvert expectations about your character.
Protip! If you’re having trouble with a color scheme, just color pick from an existing picture! I don’t have any examples of this on hand, but I do know that sunset pictures are very yummy and I have a lot of pink/orange colored designs. Coincidence? I think NOT.
The number of colors you select is of course up to you, but personally, I don’t use too many individual colors for ease of creating reference images. Of course, realistically, no one’s going to wear clothes the exact same color as each other. Unfortunately for that realism, I am lazy and don’t want to color pick 10 colors, so this is how I live.
Layering:
This is the absolute #1 best way to build texture and silhouette in your characters! Step one, find a funky garment. Step two, find another funky garment. Step three, put them on top of each other. Step four, PROFIT.
The easiest garments to do this with is of course jackets, but they certainly aren’t the only garment that can be layered! Layering is just a matter of looking at clothes you would not usually wear together and going “I wonder what would happen if you wore this together?” In real life this is usually a disaster. But in the world of art and hypotheticals everything is fair game and NOTHING makes sense!
Tumblr media
Patterns:
For when layers just don’t cut it! As far as patterns go, they could tie into motifs or just be a nice pattern. For example, Mal Jenkins is a painter, so the patterns on his sleeves, pants, and bag are based on Monet’s “Water Lilies”.
Tumblr media
On the other hand, patterns could just be a pattern or recurring motif! The world is your oyster!
Materials/textures:
When combined with layering, clothes of different textures and weights can add a lot to a design! I mentioned before that I like designs with jackets, let’s look at a couple different hoodies! Featured here is Tristan McRae, ASLH’s SHSL Video Game Designer, and Hayato Kikuchi, Ultimate Parkourist (submitted to rebootmon’s Danganronpa: Zetsubou Panic!!).
Tumblr media
You can see that Tristan’s jacket is made of much thicker material than Hayato’s, which is very baggy and loose. This already makes their designs a lot more distinct from each other! (They’re also wearing totally different colors so that helps too.)
Other textures I like to do include adding holes (like Spring from KTJ:ARG has holes in her coat), adding things onto fabrics (like Tsukino Chisaki, ASLH’s SHSL Flight Student, has studs on her coat and boots), and adding visible stitching (like Brendan Valdez, ASLH’s SHSL Flight Student, has patches on his coat).
Tumblr media
Clothes:
Having a general idea of what clothes actually exist is a very good start! Such as:
Tops: t-shirts, collared shirts, long sleeve/short sleeve shirts, tank/tube tops, cold shoulder shirts, blouses, sheer mesh shirts…
Bottoms: Skirts, gym shorts, denim shorts, jeans (with and without holes), leggings, culottes, kilts...
Dresses: Prom dresses, casual dresses, ball gowns, formal full-length gowns…
Undergarments: tights, fishnets, garters, long socks, short socks, gloves, bras/bralettes...
Coverings: Hoodies, cardigans, overcoats, denim jackets, capes, ponchos, vests, suit jackets…
Shoes: Slippers, flip-flops, sandals, high heels, sneakers, athletic shoes, slip-ons, boots...
Accessories: Hats, barrettes, hair ties, jewelry, bags, headbands, belts, chains, suspenders, buttons, glasses...
So from there it’s just mix and match! Keep in mind the different styles of clothing as well - you can swap out things like collars and edges to create variety! There’s different types of boots, different types of skirts, different kinds of bags. The sky’s the limit!
No, I Meant Like Clothes Inspiration:
Oh. Again, keep an eye out for specific art inspirations! If you see a cool character design or outfit on social media, bookmark it! Just remember not to copy clothes exactly, because that’s called art theft! I have a storage Discord server where I keep screenshots and links of art and outfits I come across while scrolling social media.
I find that the best original outfits are a combination of different outfits. Take certain elements that you find cool in each outfit , then add a few elements of your own and stick them all together! It might take a few passes to work as cohesively as you’d like, but keep trying! The best outfits that take inspiration should look so seamlessly blended and original that they should only look like the references if you compare them to each other.
I also have a few characters inspired by songs, so sometimes I’ll incorporate the motifs of MVs for those songs into their outfits. I don’t really recommend this unless you’re 100% prepared to be called out on where the outfit came from, and I ESPECIALLY do not recommend lifting the outfit exactly. Again, that’s art theft.
Tumblr media
Isaku Umitsu, my SHSL Kyudoka, is based on the Hitotsume-sama, Bun-chan, and Kulukulu characters from utaite Eve’s music videos Literary Nonsense and Outsider. Looking at them side by side, the inspiration is obvious, but when taken out of context, it shouldn’t be the first thing that comes to mind unless you’ve watched Eve’s videos 100 times (like I have) (take my computer from me please).
References:
As for references! Here’s just a couple that I found digging through my Tumblr!
My main blog’s fashion tag!
moatdd’s layering how-to! This changed my life when I saw it.
OSF Costume Rentals - period accurate clothing!
leaf-submas’s hat and skirt style guide, feat. Napstablook!
Jfashionmagazines - Japanese street fashion!
If your mutuals have fashion tags or pages, that’s a good place to dig through as well! They almost certainly have different styles than you do, so you’ll get exposed to a lot of different styles!
Outfits are a lot of fun and my favorite part of designing characters! Hopefully it will be for you too! :D
REDESIGNING CHARACTERS/NEW OUTFITS
Ever got a character design you love, but then decided you weren’t feeling anymore? Or got a character from someone you ended up hating? Or you found character art from 5 years ago and decided you hated it? YEAH ME TOO TO EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE!!
ASLH has four characters who were adopts: Ririka Kashizaki (SHSL Nail Artist), Sentarou Sekisada (SHSL Seat Filler), Hirono Ekyou (SHSL Oendan), and Ryouji Atsui (SHSL Caterer)! For a “complete from scratch redesign” I’ll be talking about Ryouji, who was converted from an attempt at design to a fantroll to an original design!
Tumblr media
As you can see, I had a lot of trouble with Ryouji’s design. (It probably didn’t help that I didn’t finalize his personality until basically the prologue though lbr.) I didn’t really know what I was doing, and though I had the concept for the vibes I was shooting for, nothing seemed right. Around the same time, I bought an OC design from my friend Marti, and I was having so much trouble I was like “y’know what let’s just fuse the two”.
My process for redesigning OCs, especially when doing something like humanizing a nonhuman character, is to pick the certain traits I’d like to keep and change the rest. For Ryouji, the elements of his concept art I wanted to keep were parts of the outfit (the apron and vest) and the elements of the fantroll I wanted to keep were his eyebrow scar and the squares pattern on the jacket. Thus, when redesigning him, I made him have all of these elements! This was probably one of my favorite designs to make ever, and I’m really glad other people seem to like it too.
Weirdly enough, as soon as I finalized his design for his first reference, his personality almost immediately materialized. Which really just goes to show how much design can influence character personalities.
(Fun fact, drawing Ryouji’s reference was the first time I drew his final outfit, so I’m extremely grateful it turned out as well as it did.)
Other characters, like Hirono, only need a quick outfit touchup. I loved Hirono’s design already, and it fit with what I had in mind with her personality. All I did to change her was the same process I use to make any other outfit, see above. She’s an oendan, so she gets a hapi coat and school uniform… though, honestly, that original outfit is still super cute. I should draw it again sometime.
Tumblr media
Most of the characters that I redesign as heavily as I did Ryouji are fangems and fantrolls that I buy from my friends, because I know that they understand my mighty need to redesign things. I try not to redesign adopts I get from other sources because I don’t know how the people I bought them from would feel about my editing their design too heavily; Sentarou and Ririka fall into these categories, so when I got them I mostly changed their outfits.
For me, it feels weird to redesign already-existing human OCs, but it’s also not impossible - Tristan, for example, used to be white. No I’m not going to show you the sketches for that and all you need to know is that it sucked, mostly because I was having a lot of trouble making him look nerdy but also nonthreatening. I think how he looks now is a good balance. If you ever get stuck redesigning a character, a race or gender swap (if either is possible tastefully) can go a really long way, and can even subvert expectations about a character! Just keep in mind dynamics and messages as well - if you have a strong violent woman and go “hey she should be trans”, that’s really not the best stereotype you would probably want to display in your work. Be mindful!
Tumblr media
2015 (og design) => later 2015? (RWBY AU) => 2017 (AR3) => 2018 (DE:OPH
CAST BALANCE: DESIGNS
I wasn’t going to talk about this but then I decided I was gonna talk about it! I mean this is kinda a guide for Danganronpa characters, but this applies to any cast that is presented in a group. The characters in ASLH fall into a few different categories:
Created for beta ASLH: Chiyo, Amal, Tsukino, Ririka, Kanemori, Tristan, Tiana, Claude, Iris, Aster
Created for current ASLH: Ryouji, Sentarou, Alexei, Tatsumaru
Preexisting characters: Hirono, Brendan
The largest problem I had putting all the cast members together was revising outfits so that, as seen with Alexei and Tatsumaru above, designs wouldn’t be too similar. For the most part, I had vague ideas of what I wanted for each appearance; even the characters whose designs materialized fully-formed (like Tiana and Brendan) were edited slightly for cast cohesion.
I wish I could say I was responsible in developing all 16 characters’ designs at once so I could keep an eye on their design consistencies, but I would be lying. Instead, I finalized them and then posted them one by one. This was a double edged sword. One, I couldn’t go back and readjust colors or designs without making a whole new reference (which I actually did for Tatsumaru). However, because I was able to take a birds-eye view of my cast, I could see what design elements I needed more of - ESPECIALLY for color scheme! You’ll notice that a lot of the first row in my cast pic is very dark and grey-dominant, so I made a conscious push to include more colors in the second row of characters.
My one regret is not doing more talent-related designs. For a majority of the ASLH cast, you wouldn’t be able to tell their talent from appearance alone. In some cases this would have been impossible anyway (how do you convey to a Western audience a SHSL Cellphone Novelist through design?), but the only really distinct and obvious talent related designs are probably Tatsumaru (who probably doesn’t count because kabuki acting is maskless); Claude; Iris Sumitama, the SHSL Honors Student; and Kanemori Shionaga, the SHSL Football Player. Can you guess who they are?
Tumblr media
Also, Alexei’s outfit should have been more extra. I still regret not making it so.
TOO LONG, DIDN’T READ
Go look at gaiacseas’ thing.
I do at least a page or two of concept art before settling on a single design.
Pay attention to body types!
Motifs can make a character look really cohesive and thematic.
Pay attention to what you like in outfits, too!!
Color schemes give an at-a-glance idea of your character’s personality.
Layering creates distinct silhouettes and can be done with more than just jackets!
Varying materials and textures makes the same garments look distinct from each other.
Making interesting outfits is as easy as mixing and matching garments.
Find outfit inspiration, but don’t plagarize!
To redesign characters, take the elements you like and shift everything else until it looks the way you want it to!
Balancing cast designs is a tricky process; going one-by-one is possible but has its ups and downs.
A LAST NOTE
In general, when you make a character whose life is different from yours - especially those belonging to marginalized communities - for the love of GOD please do some research about the experiences those communities have. It is a very bad idea to make them into a mouthpiece for your views of the groups. (SHSL Activists that are portrayed as unreasonable SJW strawmen irritate me to no end.) If you don’t feel you can portray a character respectfully, through either drawing or writing them, either a) research and listen to people of these groups so that you can or b) don’t do it, and maybe reevaluate yourself and figure out what about making this character makes you so uncomfortable.
Which isn’t to say that you have to be 100% perfect at everything, of course. In general, so long as the misinterpretations are unintentional, people belonging to the groups you try to represent tend to be pretty happy that you’re trying at all. You have no idea how happy I am to see agender representation in fanganronpa casts, especially because the Danganronpa OC scene likes to stick to hard gender binary balances. So it is worth it if you want to try it!
GOOD LUCK
And happy character creating!
If you enjoyed this document, please consider buying me a Ko-Fi or checking out my commissions! Or, of course, read Danganronpa: A Stormy Last Hurrah.

Thoughts and feelings about AOR S1 : E4
This was something I had wanted to do since I finished The Dark Crystal: AOR. Just talk about the moments in each episode that made me emotional, had fun hidden details, or moments I just liked or disliked in all 10 episodes.
Disclaimers:
These posts are most likely going to be lengthy. Since all episodes are around an hour long, there’s a lot I wanna talk about. So prepare for a lot of reading.

EPISODE 4 : THE FIRST THING I REMEMBER IS FIRE
Another one of my favorite episodes!
Demon Deet
I really love how this scene was done. The cinematography, the character movements, and the sound design were amazing! (How did Deet even make those screeching noises?) If I’m honest, I didn’t know that it was Deet the first time I watched the series. That’s how good she managed to disguise herself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I really hope it was supposed to do that.”
This scene was really neat. We got to see how Brea was raised with the knowledge about the position of the clans, being raised being told that Vapra was the highest, and that Grottan was the lowest. I also loved seeing all the symbols of the clans, and Brea’s wake-up call that what she was taught growing up was wrong.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Everything grows old. Everything passes on. All but Aughra. Bah, Aughra born old.”
I find Aughra one of the best characters simply due to her lines. All of them are funny in their own little way.
Tumblr media
The Hunter
SkekMal is one heck of a good villain. The way he talks, and his actions are so well done. And the way he moves is spectacular as well.
Tumblr media
“Have you checked the Great Smerth? It’s particularly lovely in spring.”
Gurjin doesn’t get enough credit for what he’s done. He managed to hold up against Skeksis torture, and stayed loyal to Rian on keeping his whereabouts a secret. We love a loyal friend.
Tumblr media
“Lore has imprinted on you. He is now your guardian.”
Lore is an interesting character to me. I hope he makes an appearance in season 2.
Tumblr media
“Let’s all just take a deep, calming breath.”
I love Kylan. He’s such a sweet boy. But I also want to see more of the Sprition clan. We’ve seen so little of them.
Tumblr media
“We’re together now. That’s all that matters.”
I wish Rian and Ordon had more bonding moments. Since Ordon died early in the series, we didn’t get many of those moments.
Tumblr media
“We’ve created a dream-etching.”
Dream-etching is quite an interesting concept, because it’s a physical appearance of a dream-fast. I want to know more about how they work, how to make them, etc.
Tumblr media
“Not quite. Together!”
Again, I wish there were more Ordon and Rian moments.

Hi! Just wondering about your opinion that if the Catholic Church sold its art&treasures it would no longer be there for the world to enjoy and would fall into private hands&be hoarded away (many saying the church should sell rn) I've often sat in cathedrals like Notre Dame and marveled at what palaces were built for the masses to enjoy. Like a little luxury for all of us, even the least of us. I know you are an art historian and wondered what you thought of this. : ) hope you are well : )
Thank you anon! I hope you are well too!!
To be frank, this is actually a legal question. And as such, it varies from country to country.
The Notre Dame, for example, is not owned by the Catholic church. I think France has very similar laws in this respect to my country, and what that means is: the monument, itself, is a National Treasure or National Monument (I don’t know the correct definition, but what it means is: it’s a building highly classified, of not just historical interest to the country, but in heritage as well, and as such is prioritized above others).
In my country, for example, if I am not mistaken, churches that are not classified as National Monuments do not belong to the church entirely (they are allowed financial compensation from the Vatican, which should be employed in restoration, but then priests… you know), but if they aren’t, then the State has to stay away from it. This is because our Constitution states the separation of Church and State, and it’s a double-edged sword: if you wonder why stuff like the infamous restoration of that Jesus painting by Dona Cecilia happened, it’s because the church it’s the sole holder of the building and every artefact inside of it. Stuff like that actually happened several times over in our country: because there is no legal classification of the building, nor the artefacts inside of it—thus no legal protection from the State—priests do what the fuck they want and hire retired 80-year-old painters to slap some plastic paint on an 18th century mural (I wish I was kidding but this shit actually happened).
Again, I don’t know how it goes in other countries, but in Portugal, since the law defines ‘culture’ as something that belongs to everyone, everyone is allowed—and motivated to—act if they see a certain building decaying or believe it to be in danger. This is actually something a lot of people don’t know, and instead take it to facebook, but as a citizen, you can walk into your local city hall and present a form of petition (I sincerely forgot what paperwork this involves) requestion for the monument in question to be classified as ‘in danger’. As soon as that classification happens, the withholder of the monument will be inquired, and if anything happens to it, the owner will be fined.
So, what I mean to say is: the actual Catholic church actually doesn’t own lot of the churches out there classified as Monuments. One thing that also helps to preserve these monuments and to maintain them as public property—actually, now that I think of it, I think it completely forbids governments from selling a monument to a private owner—is if they are classified by Unesco. If it’s got a Unesco stamp of approval, it’s public and cannot be private, I believe (though correct me if I am wrong).
When it comes to privately owning art, however… I am for the opinion that art belongs to everyone, and though you are entitled to own art privately, you have to keep in mind that it is not yours, but everyone’s, and thus SHOULD allow for the art you possess to be viewed by the public. I don’t mean display it in a museum, but work towards images and information of the artwork you own to be made public and accessible to everyone. I say this because portuguese art history is a nightmare. You have an insane amount of incredible artists from the 19th century, and the vast majority of their works, you can’t even find an image.
See, I teach art history, and it’s absolute hell for me. I remember telling my students, super frustrated, that I couldn’t find a single picture of more than 2 or 3 paintings by Aurélia de Sousa. And what is more frustrating is that, the more you progress through history, the less resources you find. Portuguese Neo-Realism is inexistent. If you google it, this is what you get:
Tumblr media
The most important painting, the one that set the movement, isn’t even on the first few pages. Now would you believe if I told you we actually have an entire museum dedicated to neo-realism? Would you believe if I told you it was one of the most important artistic movements in the end of second world war, and an incredible voice against fascism at a time? Probably not, because we don’t really have anything out there to be seen.
This happens because, since our market is tiny and absolute shit, most things that exist are privately owned—usually, heirs of the painters or people who bought it in auctions for pennies—in other words, people you have to wait to die out to actually see the paintings. And there’s something incredibly cruel there. I teach this shit and I have nothing to teach, no tools to teach my students, because these private owners of art refuse to share—and I mean refuse. Aurélia de Sousa, for example, was a passionate photographer, which is something people don’t know. Why? Because the man who owns her photos, for years, refused to let anyone even touch them. This raises another issue as well: if you refuse to let anyone get close, then you suck because art needs to be preserved. 19th century photos in particular wither away. With everything, happens.
With that in mind, there’s also the issue of how these privately owned artworks are preserved. Paintings, if you don’t know, cannot be exposed to natural light, especially sunlight—particularly older paintings. Photos and film have to be preserved at a particularly cold temperature. Wood has to be constantly polished, but because of how old it is, it requires the right technique and materials. Same with silver, gold, etc. Of course, a museum, a cathedral, or what have you, they all have teams at ready for that sort of conservation—but when a private owner acquires a piece of art that isn’t legally classified in any way, they can very well be responsible for its distruction.
We’ve had two very important works burn because of that. First, this painting by Vieira Portuense, who is the only other name we have to have defined neo-classicism (it was short-lived here, we were to busy having a civil war or fending off the french). It’s an emblematic painting for its time, because it’s an embryonic moment of transition between neo-classicism and romanticism. But it’s gone, because the house it was in burned down. Another one I don’t remember the name, but it was Josefa d’Óbidos—the first female painter to have her own workshop here in Portugal. Again, a flood caused a short-circuit which caused for the house to burn down, and the painting was lost.
If a painting (and I think other artefacts as well) is classified in some way (National Treasure, National Interest and uhhhh…. there’s a third one I forgot D:), the owner IS forced to keep it preserved. He is forced to clean it and restore it. If he damages in any way, he is fined and the painting can be confiscated from him. Same for buildings that are classified as anything below National Monument. But if it happens to be a work of art that isn’t classified in any way, legally speaking… Well, if it disappears, it’s gone, and the owner just loses a painting.
So it’s an incredibly delicate issue. On the one hand, privately owning art is necessary for artists, and I speak of both galleries and auction houses. It keeps the flow of the art economy going (though the art world is RIDICULOUS INFLATED economically speaking, but that’s a whole other conversation) and the market value of artists that are alive and, well, need to eat, is raised every time they sell something. Also, a country’s art market increases if they manage to sell more of their art alongside international artists (why Portugal fucking sucks in that respect), so that in itself is of great interest to artists who are alive and practicing, as well as for the country itself.
But on the other hand, it’s really a double-edged sword. Because I still maintain that art belongs to everyone, and no matter how many artworks you own, you have to keep that in mind. I had the chance to work for art collector who was very conscious about this: he lent his art constantly without charging anything and he kept his every artwork so well preserved he actually had restore works after lending them to museums. Now if everyone had that conscience, the world would be a better place.
So I put it this way to sort of generalize it, because I don’t believe, for one second, the church is exempt from this in any way. In Europe, they detain a great part of many country’s heritage. In our own country, they hold like half of our shit. But again: double-edged sword.
You said something that is very accurate: churches like the Notre Dame were built for the masses. They were built for everyone, because it is the House of God where everyone is accepted and welcomed. Yes, it initially had a purpose, bore a function that doesn’t serve entirely anymore (though mass is still held in it, the fact that it is today a touristic attraction has shifted the church’s initial purpose, so to speak). So to think that the Catholic Church would close it down, or simply decide that suddenly they couldn’t allow people inside because they own it goes against not just (in our case) the legal definition of cultural object, it goes against the very principle of catholicism—something they turn around easily by opening its doors free of charge during mass. There is a huge debate in my country every like, two summers, because some cathedrals you have to pay to get inside—and something about that isn’t right. If you have to pay to enter, that means the building in itself is important enough that it’s classified as something, at the very least National Monument, but by charging money to get inside, you’re already breaking the very definition of cultural object, legally speaking: everyone is allowed to experience culture. This is a serious debate that happens every so often, and reason why it’s moved certain parties to try and end this shit of pay-to-enter churches, which is maddening to me (supposedly, they say, it’s to tame touristic masses a bit, but we all know that ain’t it).
What’s graver, as I said, is the case of small parishes that happen to own ancient artefacts like statues from the 18th century. Because priests aren’t educated on the matter, they think, oh this is a pretty little nativity scene! And hire some old dude to paint over a fresco. The example I mentioned above, where this happened?
This is what it looked like before:
Tumblr media
this is after:
Tumblr media
Yeah. I mean, I laugh every time cause it is fucking funny, but you gotta do it not to cry lmao
So like, for me, if we are going to entrust the Catholic church with artefacts and monuments—not necessarily sell them, you can legally lend them, like a legal guardian sort of agreement (I’m sorry, there’s a correct legal term for this but I don’t know it, the shit about law is that you have to address things with the right word)—you gotta force these fuckers to respect what they own. Force them to have restorations made, to clean their shit, to maintain their possessions. Force them to make an effort into bringing awareness to the existence of these things. For the love of God, FORCE THESE PEOPLE TO MAKE AN INVENTORY. Bitch, HIRE ME, I’LL DO YOUR INVENTORY FOR YOU.
And bring these artworks into the world. Create a website. Make pictures of these artworks publically available, free of charge, so that people can look at it, study and it and have free access to it. Have you ever walked into a museum and got told you aren’t allowed to photograph the works inside? I’ll tell you that’s bogus. Sure, flash damages the work, but no flash causes no harm. When a museum does that, I can guarantee you it’s one of two things: one, the artwork you are forbidden from photographing is privately owned by some Elongated Muskrat who thinks they’re above everyone else because LoOk aT mE I oWn ArT, and two: the museum is telling you to buy a catalogue.
What museums usually tend to not understand is that the free circulation of images of their artworks is actually what brings MORE people to their museum. Like, this is a fucking proven fact—that’s why they sell postcards, prints and tote bags with their paintings on it. Case in point? London: you think they give a shit if you take up-close photos of their paintings in Tate Britain? I know they don’t cause I was the idiot photographing paint drips on a goddamn William Holman Hunt. And you don’t even pay to get inside. But do you remember what artworks are inside the Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid—aside from the Guernica? Yeah, which one has a strict policy in not photographing their paintings, you ask? Well.
So, tl;dr: if you’re gonna own art, make it available to the public, whether by putting it in a museum or making information about it—including pictures—accessible to all, and the government should be all over your ass annually to make sure you’re not damaging the artworks, otherwise lose custody of the baby and pay a fine. If you’re not gonna abide by these principles, then I am of the opinion that you don’t truly know the real worth of what you’re in possession of, and therefore shouldn’t be allowed to have it. AND THAT MEANS YOU TOO, VATICAN. Fuck your parishes, hire me. There’s a bunch of qualified people to do the job for you, you guys are just lazy and are keeping the Vatican’s money in your pockets.

Queenscrown's construction
This is the story of how I came to the concept to the Targaryen castle of Queenscrown from my Game of Thrones AU, the Court of Bastards.
Summary: Stannis takes Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen from her mother’s dying arms and raises her as his ward. The New King Robert Baratheon, first of his name, decides that her fate is to wed with shame, making her family line continue in disgrace by pairing her to his friend’s bastard, Jon Snow, despite Eddard Stark’s initial refusal.
If you haven’t read it but is interested, maybe check this out after reading at least the second chapter. If you haven’t read it and is not interested, please ignore this. If you have read it, then welcome to ramblings on my AU.
(I had to use a LOT of images from a lot of different sources. I will link them for you all, and put the owner’s name if I can find them.)
Okay, so, to ‘build’ the stronghold, first I had to have an idea of what the original, canon-verse area would be like. There were the TV show’s concept and many of artists who captured their version of Queenscrown based, mainly, on the books’ description of it.
Tumblr media
This is Queenscrown by Michael Komarck, being approached by Bran and his company after escaping from Winterfell.
As you can see, the tower is on the lake, on a tiny piece of land, which made my life so much more difficult because; How the hell am I to make a castle there?! But I liked the difficulty and the area surrounding it was nice and would better fit the story. You can see the forest and the mountains, which are so IMPORTANT for the Plot, in the background.
In CoB, at its first draft, the tower was destructed and in that tiny piece of land was planted the godswood, which resides at the centre of the castle. From there on, I tried to build the castle and its surroundings AKA the greenhouses, the barracks, Queen’s Town, the defending walls, etc, etc.
The first draft did not include all of these things as I focused only on the castle itself seen from above. Now, keep in mind that this is only the first version of the Queenscrown I pictured and is not the final castle I envision.
Tumblr media
Now, you look at this messy drawing and may not understand. Yeah, I got you. So I’ll translate it for you.
Tumblr media
The godswood itself is at the centre of the castle and its land was the initial tower that formed the previous Queenscrown, the small island is filled with winter roses and a weirwood. It’s really small and around it, there is water, almost like a moat, that comes from small channels that run through the keep. These channels are made of metal, which is heated by fire in various points in the castle, and the hot metal warms the water and thus the keep. To access the godswood there are small stairs that go down from the inner castle balconies to it. There are various balconies viewing the godswood (8).
(1) The curtain walls built around the castle were in the water but not directly connected to the castle. Only one point connected land, castle and walls; the gatehouse(5), which, in this first draft, I made it so there was a drawbridge on the end of the bridge that connected the castle to land, and the bridge and the castle itself was very above the water level of the lake. After passing the bridge and approaching the gatehouse and passing the portcullis (that metal door that closes and opens vertically) you entered the castle itself. Unlike most of the castles we’ve seen, there is no actual courtyard, but I plan un further updating it so that there is a courtyard.
(4) A piece of land on water level (1) is used as a training yard and overlooked by (6) the Great Hall of the keep (if you wanna go overboard, the ‘Throne Room’), the area is also used for the family’s leisure. The Great Hall is on the highest level other than the towers(2), solars(7) and the main keep(3), taking the entirety of the upper level of the East Wing and having a glass ceiling. (Though, now that I think of it, it should be further away from the main keep. So, let’s just switch it to the West Wing ok? Ok.)
The main keep(3) is the noble family’s chambers and the highest tower of the castle. At its top, there is a terrace filled with roses. It is connected to the lady and the lord’s chambers. All five towers within the castle are solars, but the two closest to the Main Keep belongs to the lord and lady of Queenscrown each.
There you have it, the first draft of the castle! Moving on to the second draft, I pictured the castle and its surrounds, because I came to the conclusion that no town could survive without protection. Ned gave The  Targaryens the gift with the hope of populating it despite the wildlings’ attacks, and so the people needed protection too. From this idea, I created the second draft.
Tumblr media
Unorganized and making little sense, the main idea behind this was to give QC districts, which were divided by kingdoms. That created seclusion though, and prejudice would rise quickly as people wouldn’t mingle as much. The streets were also inefficient, the urban planning abysmal and the crops too small to sustain such a huge place. Water was also not distributed well and if people do not have water and food, they will not procreate.
There was also the matter of the castle itself;
Tumblr media
It still had remnants of the first draft, centralising the godswood and being in the water, with a more round shape. The difference was that the walls were pushed into the castle itself, opening the lake for the people and city pollution. Again, the water planning here is not good.
For the third draft, I focused first on the city planning itself.
Tumblr media
Though on a smaller scale, this urban plan was much better. In the west, surrounding the Sept, there was the initial settling of the workers, giving history to its built. The Inner Walls protected the lake and the idea seemed to grow. It was still not a full map though, and the castle was incognito.
For the last draft, I used digital means, simplifying lines and concepts and also dividing them by colour. In this particular image, I made sure to map out the path Dany takes when she first arrives.
Tumblr media
This took a few months to complete and fit well with my plans. The three first greenbelts are for farmlands not under the direct ownership of the castle, followed by the palace districts, the two purple rings. The three red rings are apartments, bakeries, homes; the city itself. The two inner greenbelts are the crops and greenhouses of the castle. The innermost greenbelt has three empty areas so the sovereigns can put whatever they please into them. Why they are there, you guys will soon know.
Keep in mind that most of this is empty, and the most populated areas are the Western ones, where oldtown is and the sponsored builds were put in the palace districts.
Finally, I moved on to making the castle;
Tumblr media
The gatehouse (0), with the stables, entering into an ample courtyard. The first guard tower (2) connects to the gatehouse and keeps watch over the movements of the courtyard, also acting as an armoury, and the second guard tower (4) helps to isolate the guest wing, which extends to the second guard tower, passing (5) and (6). The courtyard leads into the main body of the castle (5), which has kitchens, music rooms, library, entertaining rooms and such. It has two stories, the first one leads to the gardens and last three towers (9, 10 and 11). The second story leads into the Great Hall (6), which has a glass roof. The great hall has passages to the guard and offices towers (4 and 8, respectively), with an open passageway (7) connecting the two and passing over the gardens. Surrounding the main keep (10), where the family wing resides, is the servant tower and another tower, with armoury and guards, leading into the small land and boathouse (12). [11th tower hasn’t much use, but is heavily guarded because of its easy access to the guest wing.]
For a side view of what I picture it, I drew this, looking to the side of the guest wing.
Tumblr media
You may see that there are open corridors to the water for the guest wing and that the bridge and gatehouse are higher than the water level. IThat happened because of the visual influences I had, and also because I wanted to take as little space as possible, but also have a something worthy of the name castle. So I used height instead of width. there is also no boathouse, but the focus is to picture the style of the castle itself. It is not as detailed as I would’ve liked, but it shows enough for now.
As we move into the visuals, I will now show you my inspirations for the overall aesthetic of the place.
Now, when thinking about the surroundings, I mix Komark’s art with a little bit of this area in Washington, called Snow Lake (at least, Google says it is Snow Lake. I can’t be sure). It’s a beautiful area, and I think it could match nicely with the surroundings of the Queenscrown I picture.
Tumblr media
Also, I found a link with a bunch of pictures from different places on this one website, and oh my, does it inspire me. Like, look at this! I don’t even know if it’s editing or something like it, but look! It even has a small piece of land right in the middle!
Tumblr media
Every one of them, I swear, fits perfectly with the Gift of my mind. So beautiful to see, but mortally cold to survive.
Okay, my darlings, now to my concept, or at least the bare minimum I wished, at first, for the castle itself.
At first, I tried to decide on what kind of style I could use, keeping in mind that I wanted something like the castles we saw in Essos. But then a BIG problem was born. How the hell a castle built for summer would sustain its residents in the far North when the winter came and the cold was stronger? Magic? Artistic license? Hell yeah. But I’m too bothered to simply kick the bucket and accept that a castle clearly built for warm temperatures could be useful in the far North.
So I went on an extended journey, searching for a castle that resided in cold lands, but if it was there and was even close to what I wanted than surely it was possible for it to be built on the Gift. And I did find it!
Tumblr media
I present you, the remains of the Château de la Mothe Chandeniers! It is frightening how close my first draft was to this old stronghold. It was burned down in 1932, but, as you can see, it snows heavily in these lands. And if there was a castle with such big windows and delicate structure in cold lands such as these, then surely I can have my Queenscrown, right? I mean, come on! It has a balcony open to the lake!
Tumblr media
And guys, when you see it from above it is so similar to what I first drew! It blows my mind, like, am I psych or something?
Tumblr media
It is even built in a lake! An artificial lake, I reckon, but still!
Tumblr media
And there are photos in the snow, in the sun, in the spring or summer...So glad I found this pearl. Imagine this place in Autumn!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yet, I was not satisfied with it. I needed something else! I already had my delicate architecture with this French stronghold but I needed something realistic, and something really fancy to help with the deccór. I researched the North and it came to my knowledge that it was mainly based on Scottland, so it was there that I went looking for that part that was missing.
While searching for that missing link, I found something that, ugh, just made me scream in delight. You see, the thing that this beautiful Chateau doesn’t have that medieval castles must have are DEFENSE WALLS! War is constant in this world and we need focking walls! But this is right in the middle of a lake! Not a simple task to build walls, I think to myself while browsing through Google and Pinterest, searching for ‘lake castles’. Or ‘fantasy castles’. Until I found this:
Tumblr media
The Old Castle by e-designer is not a lake castle but definitely a fantasy castle. Awesome as fuck, isn’t it? But not even a bit practical and definitively not a response to my problems. How the fuck is it possible to even build some shit even RESEMBLING this castle in ten fucking years? But yes, my muse screams, this is what you’ve been searching for! This castle was what inspired me for the second draft of the Crown Castle, with its defensive walls so close to the castle itself.
So yeah, I squint my eyes, stare at it for, like, ten minutes and nod decisively in a ‘we’ll make this work’ agreement to myself. The inner walls, the first defences of the castle itself, as well as the towers, are inspired by this beautiful art.
Also, the bridge!
That bridge right there is what I want for Queenscrown. It’s so majestic. Again, I’m making things difficult for me and for you guys to believe, but just...roll with me okay?
Now, impmon101 commented about something really cool that made me change the style of the guard towers and colour scheme of Queenscrown.
Tumblr media
Now, the first two links are these images, which were from the short history videos regarding Old Valyria:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, in Queenscrown there is a lot of towers. Towers are somewhat easier to build, and having a system of guard towers surrounding and into the city is not the worst of ideas. And for the last image, which is Valyria illustrated by Ted Nasmith, if you change the lava for heated water, it wouldn’t be that far from Queenscrown if we actually change the colour schemes.
Tumblr media
As for actual colour palettes, I go for a black on white vibe for the outdoors. The structures would be primarily made of white stone -- marble, lime-stone and whatever else -- with the detailing in black stone.
Tumblr media
This is The Rector´s Palace, Dubrovnik, Croatia (by dleiva). You see how with some adjustments to the lighting and shadows, the detailing turns black? Mainly on the arched ceiling, you see the black lining on the white stones. Also on the pillars, the whiter stone with the dark shadowing. Now, most of this detailing is purely black on the outside. All of the dome ceilings are black gleaming stones, as well as the stone pathways, with all the lampposts being made of a clear metal that shines white in the light. It’s that monochrome feeling for the main things like the streets, outer and inner walls and the castle itself.
Tumblr media
Sacré-Coeur, as shown in SoloSophie’s A QUICK GUIDE TO MONTMARTRE. The Parisian basilica you see is the right shade of white I imagined, with the right amount of detail we see also in The Old Castle by e-designer -- which is our main base for the castle’s outer appearance and size -- and the tower dommes have a similar texture I wish for, like the scales of a dragon or the dommes of Valyrian; the only necessary would be the pitch black material used, as well as the black detailing on the white walls of the castle.
For a concept which includes both the castle and the area surrounding it, I really like the Arendelle castle from Frozen.
https://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/disney/images/0/05/Frozen-disneyscreencaps.com-10903.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140909224228
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But alas, it is by the seaside, which is not Queenscrown’s case. Our castle is built in the water, not in some little piece of land. Beyond the lake, there is even a small circle of walls separating the water from the city itself, which is described as a grid circular system.
For the last draft of the castle, which ended up being a distant shot for the round model I first went with, I took great inspiration in the Neuschwanstein Castle, in Germany.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, what do you guys think? Can you picture Queenscrown, have you got any ideas that could fit better? Let me know!

JOURNAL – DAVID AND CAMUS – PART 4 – THE FALL

This journal is a continuation of Part 3, which may be accessed via this link :

Journal to David
Dear David my Son,
“I always thought our fellow citizens were crazy about two things : ideas and fornication.” (The Fall, p5)
Albert Camus’ monologue of 1956, titled “The Fall” is arguably the most distilled exploration of his philosophical beliefs about Existentialism. The term, “arguably” is applied here as it’s possible you’d disagree. Yes, “The Stranger” is emotionally, yet intellectually stimulating – fused to mine the soul trapped within the reader, rendering it to explode to the surface, as a dramatic offering of our otherwise dormant passions! (1) “The Myth of Sisyphus”? Well, that’s absurd. It is exasperating and predictable like any ritual, religious or otherwise. Besides why do we have to repeat it again and again? Boring. Say what? That’s Life, ain’t it? In Sisyphus, Camus makes us see the folly of our ways, of our life, with a Dante-que’ twist.(2) It’s no doubt a revealing story, I agree. But let’s get back to The Fall, shall we?  That’s the real enchilada there. That’s the story of the fall of man.
Tumblr media
Sisyphus, burden and hope – Image courtesy reasonandmeaning.com
The Fall hints at the Garden of Eden when Google, oops pardon me, I mean Knowledge, made its entrance on the camouflaged stage following the supreme feast of the apple. And as in Sisyphus, that original fall is repeated forevermore everywhere, as if perfection and triumph are within our slimy grasp, each time we laboured. But hey, what do I know? You were the Camus-go-to-guy. You were the Existentialist, David (3). I am just following in your footsteps. Hence, our fall? Our never-ending search for Knowledge.
Camus’ The Fall takes the reader through the colourful musings of Jean-Baptiste Clamence, formerly a successful defence lawyer in snooty Paris, to his new digs in “Mexico City” a bar located in so very depressing Amsterdam. What in heavens caused this fall from grace? A couple of things, just like what happens on any given day to many of us, really, when Truth happens to cross our path, like a black cat :
Tumblr media
Our copy of Albert Camus’, The Fall. This excellent edition is translated by Robin Buss, Penguin Press, 2006.
1. One day in Paree, Jean-Baptiste had an altercation with a motorcyclist. It was clear from a legal perspective, that Jean-Baptiste was quite right. However, an observer didn’t see it that way and rudely chastised him for his behaviour. While being distracted by the observer, the motorcyclist took a swing at our kind lawyer and sped off. The incident infuriated and also embarrassed Jean-Baptiste. Where did these negative and violent urges in him originate, he wondered? Wasn’t he a man for the common people? Were his professional and also personal support for the down-trodden superficial after all? Was all this service, for himself, rather than for them? To create and then foster a false image of oneself? The seed of knowledge took root when he began to ponder on these Socratic questions.
2. In the second example, which is recounted in Part 3, Jean-Baptiste’s utter and pathetic failure to act when the young woman jumped into the river, gave him cause to re-examine his bona fides – his life’s assumptions. What in today’s lingo may be dubbed as his “fake news” life. Our contrived persona, really.
With these in mind, Jean-Baptiste migrated, wandering, and finally ended down under. Sitting on a mound in water-logged Amsterdam, he meets a stranger one day. Being expansive, as lawyers tend to be, and over a series of lectures or monologue, he recounts his fall. These accounts trace his “regression” and amplify what the fall is to Jean-Baptiste, as it possibly was to Adam and Eve, or to any one, including me.
The Fall really is about a Socratic exploration to live a life without any pretence, or camouflage. A life of freedom and not dependency. Or as you admonished me to “Be Yourself!” That is the only constant. Adam and Eve’s fall in the Garden ushers the introduction to Knowledge, and away from a blissful dependency and ignorance. So is Jean-Baptiste Clamence’s. So is mine.

Let Camus tell us then what he means in a few selected passages :
“ ‘Do you want a clean life, like everyone else?’ Of course you answer yes. How could you not? ‘Fine. We’ll clean you up. Here’s a job, here’s a family, here’s some organized leisure’ And the little teeth bite into the flesh, right down to the bone.” (p6)
“There, give up. Mine is a double job, that’s all, just as humans are double.” (p7)
“I live in the Jewish quarter, or what they called the Jewish quarter until our Hitlerite brethren cleared a space in it. What a clean-up! Seventy-five thousand Jews deported or murdered : that’s vacuum cleaning. I admire such diligence, such methodical patience! You have to be methodical when you have no character. Here, the method worked wonders, there’s no denying it : I live on the site of one of the greatest crimes in history.” (p8)
“There is no denying that, at least for the moment, judges are necessary, don’t you agree? And yet I couldn’t understand how a man could appoint himself to exercise that surprising office. I had to accept it, since I saw it, but rather in the way that I accepted locusts….with the difference that the invasions of those orthoptera have never brought me a penny, while I used to earn a living by conversing with people whom I despised.” (p13)
“…but I would also only take their cases on the sole condition that they were good murderers, as others are noble savages.” (p13)
Fortunately, my profession satisfied this call to the heights.” (p17)
“Conversely, the indignation, talent and emotion that I expended relieved me of any debt towards them. Judges punished the crime, the accused atoned for it, and I, free of all responsibility, beyond judgement or punishment, reigned at liberty, bathed in a prelapsarian glow.” (18)
“I mean, relatives and in-laws (what a word!) – it’s a different tune. They find the right word, but it’s usually the one that wounds. They pick up the phone to you like someone picking up a gun. And their aim is on target.” (p21)
“Perhaps we do not love life enough. Have you observed that only death awakens our feelings?” (p21)
“That’s a charming house, isn’t it? The two heads there belong to negro slaves. A trade sign : the owner was a slave trader. Huh, they didn’t mince their words in those days! They came right out with it and said : ‘I’ve got a house on the street, I deal in slaves,  I sell black flesh!’ Can you imagine anyone nowadays stating publicly that that was his business? What an uproar! I could hear my fellow lawyers in Paris from here. They’re adamant on this matter and wouldn’t hesitate to publish two or three manifestos,……I might even add my signature to theirs. Slavery! Why, no, we’re against it! If we are forced to have it in the home or in factories, fine, that’s the normal run of things, but boasting about it, is going too far.” (p28)
“I’m well aware of the facts that one cannot do without dominating or being served. Every man needs slaves just as he needs fresh air.” (p28)
“Just between ourselves, servitude, preferably with a smile, is unavoidable. But we don’t have to acknowledge that fact. If a man can’t help having slaves, isn’t it better for him to call them free men? As a matter of principle, firstly, then so as not to drive them to despair. Surely we owe them at least that compensation? In this way, they will carry on smiling and we can keep our conscience clean. Otherwise, we might be forced to examine ourselves and become mad with grief….” (p29-30)
“The truth is that every intelligent man, as you know, dreams of being a gangster and ruling over society by violence alone. As this is not as easy as one might think from reading novels in the genre, people generally turn to politics and hurry to support the cruellest party. It matters little, wouldn’t you say, to abuse one’s mind if by that means one succeeds in dominating everyone. I found that there were sweet dreams of oppression within me.” (p35)
“There was no deception involved, or merely that blatant deception that they consider a mark of respect. As people commonly say, I loved women - which amounts to saying that I never loved any one of them. I have always thought misogyny to be both vulgar and stupid, and considered almost all the women I have known to be better than myself. However, while setting them so high, I exploited rather than served them. What does that mean?” (p36)
“Otherwise, there would be a solution and one could at last be taken seriously. Men are not convinced of your arguments, your sincerity or the seriousness of your suffering, except by your death.” (p46)
“If we are to end, doubt, we must stop existing, purely and simply.” (p47)
“The most natural idea for mankind, the one that comes naively, as if from the depths of one’s being, is that of one’s own innocence. In this respect we are all like the little Frenchman in Buchenwald who insisted on trying to lodge an appeal through the clerk, himself a prisoner……The clerk and his friends laughed : ‘Useless old chap. There’s no appeal here.’ ‘But, you see, Monsieur,’ said the little Frenchman, ‘mine is an exceptional case. I’m innocent.’ “ (p50)
“But above all because wealth shields from immediate judgement, lifts you out of the crowd in the underground, shuts you up in a chromium-plated car and isolates you in huge expanses of protected parkland…Wealth,..is not actually acquitted, but a reprieve.” (p51)
“How could sincerity be a condition of friendship? A liking for the truth at all costs is a passion that spared nothing and that nothing can withstand.” (p51)
“Dante allows for neutral angels in the quarrel between God and Satan : and he places them in Limbo, a sort of waiting room for his Hell. My good friend, we’re in the waiting room.” (p52)
“What we call elementary truths are the ones we discover after the rest.” (p52)
“I proclaimed my loyalty, yet I think that there is not a single person that I loved whom I did not also eventually betray. Of course, my betrayals did not get in the way of my fidelity.” (p53)
“I began to advise ‘transference of guilt’ as a tactic for the defence. Not that form of ‘transference of guilt’, I said, which has been perfected in modern inquisitions where a thief and an honest man are tried at the same time that the latter can be made responsible for the crimes of the former. What I meant, on the contrary, was defending the thief by bringing out the crimes of the honest man, in the event, the lawyer.” (p58)
“I had always lived a life of debauchery, since I had never ceased to desire immortality.” (64)
“The purely verbal references to God that I sometimes made in my pleas in court made my clients suspicious. No doubt they were afraid that heaven would be less qualified to look after their interest than an advocate…” (p66)
“I realized that the shout that I heard many years earlier echoing across the Seine behind me had not ceased to travel across the world,….I realized too that it would continue to wait for me…”(p68)
“...we cannot be certain of anyone’s innocence, while we can confidently pronounce everyone guilty. Each man bears witness to the crime of all the others.” (p69)
“Believe me, religions are wrong when they start to moralize and sound off with their commandments. We have no need of God to create guilt or to punish. Our fellow men are enough, with our help.” (p69)
“Don’t wait for the Last Judgement, it takes place every day.” (p70)
“But too many people are now climbing up on the cross just so that they can be seen from further away, even if in doing so they have to trample a little on the one who has already been there for so long.” (72)
“Judges are swarming over the corpse of innocence, judges of every species, those of Christ and Antichrist, who as it happens are the same, all reconciled in little ease” (p73)
“What does it matter, after all? Don’t lies in the end put us on the path to truth?” (p75)
“He announced that we needed a new pope who lives among the poor and needy, instead of praying on his throne…” (p78)
“…you see, the main idea is not to be free any longer, but to repent and obey a greater knave than you are.” (p85)
“The judgement that you are passing on others eventually blows right back in your face and may do some damage.” (p86)
“Since we could not condemn others without at the same time judging oneself, one should heap accusations on one’s own head, in order to have the right to judge others. Since every judge eventually becomes a penitent, one had to take the opposite route and be a professional penitent in order to become a judge.” (p86)
“Throw yourself in the water again so that I might have once more the opportunity to save us both!” (p92)
If only, we have that opportunity once more, David.

Source your aesthetics.
So this is an issue I wasn’t expecting in this community, and I’d like to address it. This is important. When you make an aesthetic, please credit the people whose images you’re using.
Photography is an art. Photography belongs to people. People own the pictures you are using. And they deserve credit. Taking a picture that belongs someone else is art theft, whether it’s a painting or a photograph. And saying ‘oh well it’s not mine’ isn’t good enough. You are not crediting the original artist if you’re not naming them. How is that crediting? There is no source, no way to find them, no acknowledgement. These are people with their own accounts and social media, and they’re sitting there without traffic. Their pictures don’t belong to us, they’re not ours to take, not ours to do with as we please, and the least we can do is link back to the owners. Because they created something that moved you! Something you enjoyed, something that reminded you or made you feel something. The least you can do is be grateful and respect those artists. Respect them by giving them the credit they deserve.
If you use and post art without sourcing, you are stealing these people’s work. You’re just taking their art and reposting it, but because you’re doing it to several people in one post, you feel like it’s okay. Look, I realize people aren’t doing this on purpose. No one’s sitting there, rubbing their hands together going ‘heh, no credit for you Mr. Artist’. People don’t know any better and because this community has no standard for this, it’s easy to join along. It’s easy to get away with it, because no one’s doing anything, and most people don’t realize it’s an issue. I get it -- you can’t know, if no one ever told you. And we’re all weak for pretty things, and we’re all weak for getting them onto our blogs ASAP. But this is a standard we should have. Technically, what you’re doing is illegal. Sure, it’s not a big deal, it’s not commercial use, I get that, but it’s still not right.
And you are getting those pictures from somewhere. You’re looking for them, and you’re finding them. You have a link. It takes 5 seconds to link to where you got it from. It takes a little longer to check if that page is the original owner or not; about 1 minute for a reverse image search (google or otherwise). Look for the biggest sizes. Look for instagram and flickr links, or blog pages. If you see it on pinterest, check the sources there. Once you find the biggest (unedited, if you can tell) one, reverse-search that, just to be sure. Some images have been through hell, WeHeartIt and back and cannot be traced back, but you can at least put a few minutes of effort into it. And if you really cannot find the true owner, just link back to where you got it from.
Think about how you would feel if someone took your artwork and didn’t credit you. How would you feel if I just took that aesthetic you just made and posted it on my own blog? Without crediting you? Would saying ‘it’s not mine’ would make you feel better? I’m gonna go ahead and assume that if I just took your aesthetic and did that, you’d think I was a douche. The entire community would probably think that’s one hell of a douche move, and that it’s wrong of me to do. Now realize that this is what you’re doing to other people.
If it’s aesthetic you’re worried about, I got you covered. You can just put little links at the bottom of your post, like this:
or this:
(x) (x) (x)
or any variation really. Look up alt/unicode symbols and find what matches your aesthetic!
☼ ❂ ✷ ♛ ☩
TL;DR: Sourcing your aesthetics if important. If you are using artwork that belongs to someone else, it is your obligation to credit the rightful owner -- because it’s not you. Please please please start sourcing your aesthetics.
(I would also really appreciate it if you could reblog this! I’d really love to see sourcing become more common in this community. Thank you very much for reading, and happy aesthetic-ing!)

8 simple ways to boost your self-esteem. You are great being you How well do you like and appreciate who you are? How you feel about your self-worth is generally your self-esteem. When nothing seems to be adding up, it’s normal to feel broken, weak and defeated. However, it’s another thing to always feel like others are better than you whether it’s in terms of their achievements or physical appearance. If you got some issues with your self-esteem, you need a boost with these simple tips: 1. No comparison. You can never be like anyone in the entire universe and that you should get in your mind and appreciate your uniqueness. People are beautiful and talented in their own ways and you only need to make the best out of whatever you already have. 2. Love yourself more. If you don’t love yourself, who will? It all has to start with you. Be kind to yourself and stop that inner voice that reminds you that you are incapable of doing something. 3. Your appearance. Make an effort to look great every day. This way, your confidence goes up and it makes you feel good about yourself. With that sharp look, walk upright and confidently with a broad smile on your face. 4. Human is to error. Don’t strive to be a perfectionist. It’s dream you will never achieve. Mistakes make us humans and they help us learn and be better people. Just because you made a huge mistake doesn’t mean you have to pay for it with guilt for the rest of your life. 5. Handle failures with positivity. So you invested all your money in a project and it failed. You failed and you should only learn from the mistakes rather than shying away from starting again. You can do it and do it better. 6. Help someone. Be kind to others too and help those that you can. Helping others comes with some sort of inner satisfaction. It’s also a way to remind you of how important you are to the world. 7. List your abilities. Regardless of how terrible you feel about yourself, you must have some abilities. List them down and add your achievements too. You will get a reason to even love yourself more. 8. Do what makes you happy. At the end of the day, it’s all about you. If it makes you happy, do it without regrets and always schedule some time for it. How Disney Ruined The Copyright System
Now I'm certain a great majority of us love Disney; after all Walt Disney himself was one of the founding pioneers in animation, and since then Disney has produced dozens of animated movies, and even some animated tv shows and some decent live-action work. But did you know Disney was responsible for corrupting the Copyright System?! Before we get to that let's talk about the history of Copyright Law. The first copyright law was founded in 1710, known as the Statute of Anne, named after Queen Anne who oversaw the unification of England and Scottland; that was the rule to provide for copyrighted material regulated by the court rather than private parties, so authors could retain the rights to their own work to profit and make copies from for a limited time. And since the American Revolution, American Colonists also copied and pasted that same law into their own constitution, thus giving congress to do as quoted-- "Promote the progress of science and useful arts by securing for a limited time to authors the exclusive rights to their respective writings." Basically Copyright is like a contract between authors and the rest of society; so the writers cane write and promote their work while congress makes sure other people won't copy their work until the rights expire. Seems legit. Now back then, the rights license was only for about 14 years, but by the late 1700's writers felt the license was too short, so they went to congress and lobbied for an extention, so it was extended to 28. Some time after it was altered, it remained 28 years, but included an additional 28 if you got an extension, then between the late 1800s and the 1920s it was 56 years, either or long enough for the creator to profit from their work for pretty much their entire lifetime; and after that their work enters The Public Domain. The Public Domain is where all creative work goes after terms of copyright expires and where just about anybody and everybody is allowed to share, copy, or even use to create works of their own. That's where the majority of the most well known literary properties reside for everyone's use including Alice in Wonderland, The Jungle Book, Frankenstein and so forth... and then Disney ruined it! And here's why. See in 1984, Micky Mouse, Disney's most revered icon was actually about to enter The Public Domain, or at least that's when his license would've expired originally, but some time before back in the late 70s Disney lobbied congress to extend the rules of the copyright system by and additional 50 years; then in 1998 they pushed the expiration again by 75 years, that's 120 years after creation or 95 years after publication, and there is a chance that this is something the company will lobby yet another extension, considering the current license that's set to expire in 2023, and perhaps do the same thing again and again and again, just so the company could retain the rights to Mickey Mouse and other characters, so because of that everything that would've already belonged to everybody only belongs to them! And it's because of these extensions, that nothing has entered The Public Domain for years! Stuff like The Lord of the Rings for example, that would've already been for free use by 2010, maybe even earlier, but because of these extensions, the current license for this property doesn't expire until 2044! In fact, should these new laws continue then nothing made after 1922 would enter The Public Domain at all, And it's not just books and cartoons, other creative or even scientific or educational properties since are now stuck in a copyrighted limbo, and orphaned works have it even worse. For those who don't know, Orphaned Works are under copyright but their original owners can't be found or credited; yet it's still illegal to share them, which is a shame since there could potentially be a whole sleuth of art and scientific resources that could prove useful. Until the last 30-40 years, every generation had legal access to past works, works which they can learn from, build from, and draw inspiration from, and even re-invent in their own creative image, but now all that creativity is locked away. People have since brought up how hypocritical it is for Disney as a company to prevent people from using their creative works even though most of their work also came from previously copyrighted material; and they're right to say so, cause before this even became a thing few people understood or even respected the original copyright system better than Walt Disney himself, after all back in his prime the majority of projects he helped create were all based on previous stories from The Public Domain; and even work he was permitted to with Fair Use, heck even Steamboat Willy, the first ever Micky Mouse cartoon that paved the way for Disney's legacy was actually based on a Buster Keaton movie back in 1928. These acts if anything only give Disney a bad repuation, and not just the company but the man himself, especially since he already died back in 1966. I get wanting to make more money to provide for a person's family and maybe even keep the company alive, but Disney was by that point a major financial success and there was plenty of money to go around, and there'd always be more as long as they made more material to work with. If anything just keeping an artist's work away from the public after he already died is just unnecessary; I mean if I died I'd wouldn't want to keep the rights to my own work for myself, I'd love for more and more people to build from what I got and (if indeed there is an afterlife) I'd be interested in seeing what they come up with! But it's because of Disney's own manipulation of the system, that more companies would go after other individuals for including their work in their own, even though that's suppose to be for Fair Use. Fair Use, for those who may not know, means you can include copyrighted material for a limited purpose such as criticism or satire. We've seen these things before, more recently on the internet, particularly on YouTube, but since Google bought YouTube which is then ran by robots and no actual human services, many people have suffered having their videos stripped off, demonetized, or worse have their entire channels off altogether due to these copyright claims! Copyright infringement and theft in general is a concern, and Copyright may be a means of protecting a creator's work, but it can also enable more creative works, and that's what fair use and the public domain are for. But after what Disney did in the past 40 years, those privileges have almost completely eroded. I myself do hope that sooner or later, The Copyright System can be re-evaluated and repaired, so we can introduce more work into The Public Domain, and better manage Fair Use privileges for people to gain access to.

Business law short answer questions from Riley Aviles
Damages on commercial property. Severe damage to my building from my neighbor's trees and landscaping.
The commercial property owner neighboring the ground raising was lifted by my commercial property behind my building to give landscaping. A tree and shrubs were put there and the root systems egressed into the lower wall of our building undermining the building stucco and pushed the wall stud framing off the floor plate. Extensive structural damage to my building including water damage. Who's liable for repairs? A: It sounds like your neighbor would be responsible. There are tons of unanswered questions, and this might actually be more of a tort law issue when compared to a real estate one.Have you ever consulted with an engineer and architect concerning the cause of the structural damage? If it was the plants or the earth work themselves, it sounds like your neighbor is responsible, but it will be important to understand and have evidence regarding the causation.Take photographs, get statements from engineers or architects regarding the damage as well as the cause of the damage, and get a few approximations for the cost of repair. Go see legal counsel or two. Good luck to you personally.
Is it illegal to host a paid service that manipulates Amazon.com's search algorithms by having bots create accounts?
A: You've got to look at your provider agreements --all the things you signed saying "I accept" involved in the chain of your site. Whether Mozilla or Google or others provides your internet they have user agreements. Willing to bet entombed in there may be something type actions specially account creation. Because in the event that you run afoul of Homeland Security regs your investigator will undoubtedly be from the FBI, you will have important searches particularly for anything it looks like you disposed of, kiss your harddrive farewell etc. you would like to watch it You actually need to break down and pay an attorney skilled in user agreements to a) figure out your vulnerability and the way to sturcture to avoid it b) if your web site must be found in a particular state , as it were c) whether itis a good idea for you to be a corporation d) the user arrangements you'll request any users/purchasers to sign; You're past d.i.y. time
My wife works for a salon. She is an employee of the company and she doesn't rent a chair. Her salary is commisson
Her company bills her service charges for each service she provides. Can she composed those service charges away on her taxes. Her employer said they don't want their workers to do that, nonetheless, I do not consider they can do that. Ideas? A: Talk to your tax preparer or a company tax cpa if you don't get any answers here on Justia. They'd be familiar with these IRS rules for employees.
Is it grounds foqualification if an attorney, reserves the corporate name of a suspended HOA when his client is an owneer/member of the HOA?
The client is being sued by their renters individually athe lawyer gores out and allows the corporate name without thinking to renovate the corproration. He then supports the plaintiffs to go to the IDR procedure based on the governing documents to work out issues instead of court but these CCRs can't be enforced as long as lawyer holds corporate name and does not restore. A: Your question is vague and needs clarification. More details are required to give a professional evaluation of your problem. The best first step is an Initial Consultation with an Attorney. It's possible for you to read more about me, my credentials, awards, honours, testimonials, and media appearances/ publications on my law practice web site. I practice law in these areas of law in CA, NY, MA, and DC: Contracts & Business, Criminal Defense, Divorce & Child Custody, and Education Law. I was hired as an independent contractor, Cleaning airline offices. No contract has been signed other than terms of
Payment on invoices. Repeatedly, I have been paid late and they have refused to pay late fees. My payment contact has repeatedly lied about payment being "in the email" so I have frozen service until payment is received . Can they fire me for this and do I have rights to fight with that? A: The organization can terminate the contract at any given moment unless there clearly was a written contract provision preventing it. You aren't needed to continue to do new services. Even if the contract is terminated, you will be owed for work already performed. You will have to determine in the event you'd like to carry on to work with this particular business on these terms.
Do I need to have insurance if my online personal training client signs a liability release form and informed consent?
I'm beginning an online personal training and nutrition programming company, I'm wondering if I would like insurance if I have the correct files are signed by the customer and which legal documents are required to shield me. A: I trust you had a professional in insurance shield look at waivers and your release. The difficulties inherent in your company should you be doing physician reports aren't, always reviewed by nutrition, excercise, particularly if you do not have a degree in either are daunting. Insurance, being a P.C. or Corporation are other things to discuss with the attorney. Might it be illegal to host a paid service that controls by having accounts are created by bots Amazon.com's search algorithms?
Do I have to pay FTB fees?
Hello, I was wondering if someone can help me with this. A corporation opened in 2014 and since then have accumulated fees to the Franchise Tax Board when I didn’t know better. I used to not do anything with the business, and I owe approximately about 4k in back fees. I understand that that money is owed by the corporation and it is going to keep going up annually. The corporation is currently frozen as a result of back fees. What should I do? I really can’t afford to pay. What can the authorities do to me, if I only do pay? Can they take my personal stuff? Will this impact my business later on if one day I decide to start a business? What can happen to a person who doesn’t ever pay, and what are stuff I can’t do personally if I just allow the taxes develop on the corporation that is suspended? A: It is advisable to consult with a local attorney in private and give them trades and all the facts and get a unique advice and plan of action with respect to your personal culpability or lack thereof. Typically, if a corporation is established properly and complied with the state law, is considered a separate legal entity and its own responsibility should not create personal liability for its stockholders. The information presented herein is for general purposes only. It might not be construed as tax, legal or accounting advice, and is not intended to. Neither is it meant for solicitation purposes. For specific guidance, please consult an attorney that is appropriate in person. Good luck. Zaher Fallahi, Business and Tax Attorney, CPA.

I registered a domain name that belonged to a LLC. Can I continue the business they started using that domain name?
The organization was an LLC business that had a few backlinks from sites that are popular. They also had a patented merchandise. Can I use the domain name to keep on the service/product the original owner had? I've actually done this with 2 domain names but I havent recreated the site/business thoughts of the former owners. I needed the right steps to do this or legal problems I may face. The other website did not involve a product in the slightest although I understand for the first case I'd need rights to the patented product. It called for a Thought, logo and design. A: The content of sites is copyrighted as soon as it's created. If you're copying the code and content of the old website, you'd face liability for copyright infringement. Also, in the event you use any images on these sites, to which you don't own the rights to publish, you might be responsible for copyright infringement.
During my employment I purchased the company domain name .net. 2 years later the company is requesting it?
Am I legally required to give them the domain without compensation or payment? A: It may belong to them while you were an employee there, in the event you purchased the business's domain name for the business. Additional information are required to supply a professional analysis of your problem. The best first step is a First Consultation with an Attorney. You can also read more about me, my qualifications, awards, honors, testimonials, and media appearances/ publications on my law practice website. Thoughts and feelings about AOR S1 : E7
I do not own any media used in this post (Pictures, gifs, etc.) All images and gifs belong to their respective owners.
Most, if not all images will be scenes I screenshot from Netflix.
I apologize if any images are blurry/pixelated. Due to my old computer and bad wifi, some images may be of lesser quality.
This post will include some personal opinions towards certain scenes and characters, and these opinions may not match yours. I will respect your opinions, I just ask that you respect mine.
I also apologize for any formatting issues. I type these up in Google Docs (So if my computer restarts unexpectedly, my work will be saved. Plus I use it for spelling and grammar checking.)
New disclaimer. While I do make sure to add some review elements to these posts, these will mostly include random bits that don’t hold a lot of significance, mainly just me talking about why I love the characters so much. But there will be a couple review elements, don’t worry.
THESE WILL INCLUDE SPOILERS

EPISODE 7 : TIME TO MAKE...MY MOVE
Nearing the end of the series, and it’s making me slightly sad.
“Do you see my wonder? Gaze upon my wonder!”
The Heretic is the only skeksis I like. He and Urgoh work great together with their different personalities, and their interactions with each other also helps make them tick.
Tumblr media
“Summon the ascendancy.”
We knew of the arathim, but we didn’t know that they were also known as the ascendancy. I wonder why that title was introduced now, and not earlier.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I think your rump dress is...quite lovely.”
These two are going to kill me one day, and it’s a day I’m looking forward to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I will not lead you on another hunt. You are a butcher.”
I wanna know how Rek’yr and SkekMal got to know each other, and what the hunt was about. It would make an interesting story, to say the least.
Tumblr media
“No. Hurt. Deet!”
Can we stop for a moment and talk about how Hup managed to stop a blow from a skeksis over twice is height with nothing but a wooden spoon?
Tumblr media
“You dare try and control Aughra? Aughra can barely control Aughra!”
Whoever did the script-writing for the show needs to get some kind of award for their writing.

EPISODE 3 : WHAT WAS SUNDERED AND UNDONE
One of my favorite episodes!
“So jingle jangle, time to put on the hat.”
Juni is a queen. I love her, and I wish to see more of her, and her Spriton boyfriend
Tumblr media
“I would have run away with the Sifan long trine past if I had to attend half the meetings you do in a single day.”
I really loved the small sisterly moments between Tavra, Brea, and Seladon. I wish I got to see more of them, even if they are just a few moments.
Tumblr media
“Remember, the bonds of sisterhood can be tested, but never broken.”
Again, it’s the little sisterly moments. I love them so much.
Tumblr media
“Go back to the nest you came from, you dirty grottan!”
youtube
(Video posted by GeeklyTV on Youtube)
It’s interesting, seeing the way two different clans interact. And how clans play into how gelflings treat you. All other clans look down at Grottan because they are believed to be dirty, and unhygienic, while they don’t take into consideration on how friendly and resourceful the clan actually is. And then there’s Hup, beating up gelflings over half his size for a girl he met about a day ago. True friendship right there.
“I’m here. I’m always here.”
“You know what I mean, dear.”
I may not have high amounts of favoritism towards Seladon, but this just hurts. “All-Maudra first, mother second” isn’t a good way of raising a kid. It starves them of affection. And it can cause them to do unfavorable things for admiration.
Tumblr media
“It won’t light. The ground’s too wet.”
“We’ll see about that.”
The scene where Deet and Rian first met, at least formally met. I love these two, and I love their chemistry!
Tumblr media
Lastly, can we just appreciate Onica? I love the mystical pirate sifan so much.
