INTRODUCING THE MOST MANIPULATIVE KING IN HISTORY , MAGNIFICO!!! 🎇🎇🎇🎇(I hate him but he deserves a redesign lol).

For those who see this post for the first time, I introduce myself, Hi :D! I'm Aled and this is a collaboration with @ animación , author of the rewrite of Wish that is on her profile (read it, the story it's soooo good) and I am in charge of drawing the redesigns of her story.

Now, coming back to the main thing, I will show how we got to this result :)

FACIAL FEATURES AND HAIR:

-Honestly, I never thought that getting used to drawing Magnifico would be so difficult lmao, how in most of my procedures to make the designs, I start with sketches and studying the structure of the character's face, this was a little difficult because I'm not that I'm used to drawing people over 20, but with a few practices I was able to figure out how to draw him :D

(I also did digital internships, but I didn't save most of them because I forgot lmao)

COLOR PALETTE:

-Don't think that I chose a palette of yellow and gold colors just because I thought it was pretty (well, that's also another reason), what happened is that when I was searching through conceptual arts, I found some designs by Magnifico where They used a blue and yellow color palette

I did a quick search and found this:

-Tell me this doesn't remind you of Magnifico, then yes, that's why I chose a yellow color palette, also adding a golden tone to give it a royal vibe.

-I also applied this in the design of Queen Amaya, in the publication of her design I explained why I added details of a dark blue color in her costume and Magnifico's costumes

ATTIRE:

-From the beginning I always wanted to modify Magnifico's cape by adding a rose as a brooch, and searching through the conceptual arts I found quite a few interesting models, so it can be said that I combined everything I liked and that's how I got the cape for Magnifico, Also adding other details that occurred to me.

-The author sent me several ideas for Magnifico (thank you by the way :D), one of them was associating Magnifico with the sun, I really liked the idea and that is why there are so many symbols of the sun in his suit, plus these It reminded me how in so many cultures the Sun is worshiped, just as the kingdom of roses worships Magnifico, there are also other reasons why the sun fits with Magnifico but I already mentioned that in the publication of Amaya's redesign.

-The truth is, I only drew the other details improvised, this time I just got carried away, but hey! The outfit didn't look bad at all :)

-Another important part of Magnifico's costume is the "M" on his badge, but in fact it is not an M 😅, it is the sign of Scorpio ♏, this idea was from Anny Mation

-So yeah, I had to add the Scorpio symbol yes or yes, at first I thought about adding it to the back of the cape but I wasn't convinced by the idea, but then I thought: "Wait, why don't I add the sign on the gold plate ? that would look elegant."

FINAL COMMENTS:

-I'm proud of how this turned out, I feel like it does justice to a villain that commemorates 100 years of Disney :)

-Also, I think that those who have already seen the other redesigns know which character is next, right 👀✨? For Aster, I don't know how long it will take me to draw him, since the boy is literally a walking animation studio lmao.

Yn, in my opinion at least 👀, def had the chance to play dumb, act as if she didnt knew, act as if they were forcing her to do whatever accusation dewey trew at her. but she didnt‼️‼️‼️‼️ and im just freakibg outtttttt she cares so much that AGAIN she put herswlf in front of Billy. After all the pain that doung that all those years ago brought to her, she did that and didnt even think about it. even after stu literally shot someone in the chest she cares so fucking much that the death of that person donest affect how she feels about him anymore (judy didnt actually dieee but yn doesnt know itt( they didnt need to get try to get jill before she hurt yn, they couldve literally just ran away from the hospital. But the choose to stay‼️‼️‼️ for stu i wont eve.n elaborate because my. Girl. My. Ficking. Girl. Was enough for me lmaooo‼️‼️‼️but billy didnt need to say athing! In fact, it would be better for him if he didnt bc he knew dewey woukd recognize him the second the spotlight was on him. But.he did. He defended yn the second he could. He defended her even if he knew no one would listen to him.

Oh YN definitely cares and so do they there's just so much turmoil and difference in morals that it's a rough road but Billy and Stu saving her (To "kill her god knows when" yeah right 😒🙄) And her deciding to follow that moral compass and save Billy before her own ass because it was the 'right thing to do' (mm hmm 🤨😒) is just another layer they didn't know this situation could have!

Fr YN could have played dumb but I ain't gonna lie when I came out of anesthesia I slept SO HARD it was insane I was fucking out of it and barely formed thoughts so I can't imagine some bitch waking me up a few hours after my surgery trying to strangle me THEN trying to make coherent thoughts to justify why Billy is there 😣

And I think as the author writing it (And the girl reading it lol) like...YN is fucking tired.

I mean, her best friend and honestly only true friend died and she found his corpse and has that weighing on her conscience that it's her fault they seperated. Gale was never her friend 100% fake af and YN lowkey knows it. Karla is a friend by being Ray's wife but not on the level her and Randy are.

And other than Dewey; Billy and Stu is all she's got. In one night, she was truly stabbed for the first time not counting her arm or hand. Good and only Friend is dead. She's being framed AGAIN over fame she never wanted to begin with.

Dewey, as much as she loves him platonically, has changed because of that badge and being married to Gale and in Woodsboro (I noticed it from 3 to 4 with Dew to Sid and was shocked tbh) and has done nothing but make YN not trust him with her safety this entire installment.

Stu pointed it out in TT. That he was there no matter what, toxic or not. He knew the worst and best of YN and stayed there for his own selfishness but still for her as well. When Randy and Dewey only knew what YN revealed but she was living a double life that they UNDERSTANDABLY would be hurt and enraged over but Billy and Stu have been known and don't care

ISTG it's why I fuck with enemies to lovers sm bc your enemy sees your worst side, weakest side, you see there's and yet you still fall in love?

I think Billy has never seen these sides of YN and when he did in TT he was in a shit place in his life and still bitter over what she did in Set Up and Sequels Suck.

But Stu? He was in her life from Windsor to Hollywood on and off and got over her betrayal before Billy so it's easier for him.

And I hc Stu as fucking nuts to be blunt. Flys off the handle, impulsive, delusional, arrogant, has little value in peoples lives, doesn't discriminate with killing, sadist, possibly even a bit of a high functioning individual with a form of ASPD or just good old narcissism where he doesn't love like a normal person does so he forced himself into YN's life as a form of control but that doesn't mean he doesn't care for her he just cares for his own self preservation first and always will. While I hc Billy as an introverted guy with fucked up morals and possible hallucinations like his daughter Sam / he's more likely to snap than most people same with his Mom Nancy. But I think he feels love and emotions the same as anyone else he just has trust issues and cynical af.

It's why after so long...I mean, aside from money, Billy got what he wanted. YN is alone, isolated, depressed, anxiety, PTSD, no friends, everyone she cares for is dead or hates her, getting attacked by conspiracy theorists that claim she helped them. And I think he's realizing slowly but surely that maybe her suffering for trying to turn him in while saving him isn't what he wanted after all.

MC Who Does Not Fear Death x OM! Demon Brothers

Or maiming, or apparently any other consequences. You’ve walked into this situation with absolutely no filter and no fear. Time to tear down every structure of Devildom society.

Lucifer

You look at him with a withering stare when he tries to intimidate you into behaving.

“I was summoned out of my trashy apartment to this place, where literally anyone could snap me like a twig on accident. I’m just working on the assumption that I’m already dead.”

He sternly looks at you. “You’re under my protection during your time here. No harm will come to you.”

You snort derisively, which visibly irritates him. “Don’t worry about it. I won’t come back to haunt you if it happens.”

As you continue through your life in Devildom he keeps calling you out for meddling and all that, like usual, and he HATES that you literally *do not care* when he threatens you.

Like HE knows that he wouldn’t hurt Diavolo’s transfer student but YOU are supposed to be AFRAID of him dammit.

His frustration at this ends up turning into a form of respect. You’re about the only person who will stand up to him, and tbh like you’re so fucking fragile but you’ll yell at him all day? That takes guts. Annoying guts. But you’ve got guts.

But also STOP IT. He has enough stress in his life and now he’s constantly terrified that you’ve decided it’s a great idea to adopt a baby balrog

Which you did once. He’s just afraid that “Flamin Hot Cheeto” is going to come back since you somehow managed to imprint on it.

He has had more heart attacks in the past week than he has had in the last 100 years of life.

He starts agreeing to your ridiculous adventures JUST because then he can actually keep an eye on you. 

He adores the chaos of the laugh that bursts from you every time you narrowly escape death. 

He HATES how often you have to NARROWLY ESCAPE DEATH. So he will never tell you.

He almost doesn’t have time for his own shenanigans anymore, because all his time is taken up by trying to make sure you stay alive.

And you’ve figured out that if you turn *any* of your ideas into a money-making one, he will join you whole-heartedly.

So you bribe him because what’s money to you anymore anyway?

I mean he doesn’t leave his room much, so tbh he probably just gets texts from you that make him want to scream.

‘hey uh levi say if someone were to hypothetically be stuck in a succubus’ devil basement to become an unwilling sacrifice to asmo what would that person, hypothetically, do?’

You always come back, because he always sends a text to the other brothers. In that case Asmo came to rescue you himself and scold the succubus.

You become the friend that he makes funny throwing-shade reddit posts about. (Devvit? Devil reddit? Eh??)

He physically carries you around.

If Beel’s on MC watching duty, he’s almost the only one who is successful, just because you physically cannot get away. 

But at the same time, he is very easily bribed. 

So yes, he’ll go to Madam Scream’s with you at 3am. Sounds like fun.

But he is very protective after losing someone he cares about (who you remind him of so much….) so he keeps you close when you’re out and about too.

If you start getting into a fight with some other demon he literally just takes the fight for you and wins with no trouble at all.

You like having Beel with you.

Especially finding street festivals! You’re in a whole new world and there’s a MILLION things to try. Beel is more than happy to try them with you.

But that leads to arguments about whether deadly creatures to humans are still deadly when dead. 

“No, you can’t eat that it’s on fire. I know even small fires hurt humans. I’ll eat it for you.”

“That hot sauce makes every demon I know cry. You really shouldn’t buy a bottle. Please. No, don’t try it. No, that’s too much for one-- oh. Oh no.”

He forgives you as long as you don’t actually get hurt and you give him your leftovers.

Asmodeus

“If I get wrinkles because of you I promise you will never hear the end of it. I will curse you forever.”

He swears on every single one of his lovers that you have started giving him grey hairs.

GREY HAIRS, MC.

Why can’t you just settle down and let them all take care of you? You don’t have to prove anything to the other demons!

But you will. You’re living in Devildom now, and by everything unholy, you are going to live that life to its fullest extent.

He was thrilled at first when you were all for joining him at his nightclubs and parties. Now he hides every party’s date from you.

That time you almost threw yourself off a balcony to try and emulate a very drunk demon’s newest dance move.

“I need to stay TRENDY, Asmo!! I’ll be fine!!”

Ever since learning Demonus doesn’t affect humans you have challenged every single stuck-up tough boy to a drinking contest.

And every single time you win, Asmo has had to *narrowly* save you from being killed by said demon.

And you just say “he deserved it” every time.

And like, yeah okay, he probably did but YOU’RE NOT ALLOWED TO DIE.

Somehow, you manage to out-party Asmo.

dON’T TELL THE OTHERS but he lives for the times when you practically fall asleep on his shoulder while coming home from a rager. You may not get drunk, but when you’re sleepy, you’re so affectionate and something in his heart melts.

Satan

At first, Satan was all for the rebellious “life life with no restraints” thought process you explained to him.

I mean, he didn’t like the assumption that he and his brothers couldn’t control themselves to not accidentally kill you, but also… fair.

But he didn’t realize that this mindset followed through for EVERY demon in ANY place.

Including RAD, where old and wizened demons were *really* not used to being contradicted

Which led to you “accidentally insulting” your 5000 year old Human Studies professor by giving them a pop quiz on current memes (which they failed).

And left Satan as the one who had to make sure that said professor didn’t kill you. 

And the thing is, this keeps happening.

You’ve written all over the school’s library books, pointing out every error.

You *continue* to argue with the demons who threaten to kill you when you say silly things like “No, Solomon did not learn his sorcery at Hogwarts because Hogwarts isn’t REAL.”

(Solomon, meanwhile, refutes you vehemently and seems to grow three inches taller every time you glare at him.)

Satan assures you that he values knowledge and truth and all that, but could you maybe find a less dangerous way to push it?

No can do, Satan, because you already had plans with Mammon to use a curse that writes the history of the actual Sorceric Academy that Solomon attended like 400 years all over the desks in Human Studies. It’s activated by anyone saying “Hogwarts”. 

No, no, Satan, it’s brilliant, because you can’t do magic. It can’t be you who did it.

Like, through the plot your willingness to be a thorn in anyone’s side just to get more information really works for Belphie.

He’s like all I gotta do is ask? Sweet. Yeah. Go, human.

But then when he’s all big and threatening and “im gonna kill you” and you just kind of look at him and nod like “yeah, this checks out.” 

Frankly, that’s rude, MC. 

And then he keeps threatening to kill you and it doesn’t even PHASE you like. You just keep listening to him rant and going “OH i think i get it now”

He liked that you were always looking for more information when he was the one pushing you around, but now?

No. Human, he is going to KILL you here, STOP ASKING QUESTIONS.

And then you do the time-travel bit, and see that he *literally has killed you in one timeline* and you just like

Hello! I am sorry to bother you but I am a senior getting ready for college this year. I am in the US and I wanted to major in the same thing you did, do you have any possible tips for me? I still haven't even looked for colleges that would be best for animation majors so I figured if you were up to giving out any tips/saying any basic ideas if you wanted to/if you had the time to then maybe I'll have a better idea! I apologise for if I sound weird! I'm tried to word it correctly but I can't 😿

hi!! i’m totally down to share my experiences! someone else also had some questions so i’m going to put them all together in this post haha, hopefully this helps! it’ll get pretty long so apologies ahead of time but art school is a lot to think about so i wanna be as helpful as i can around it, its a lot of time and money. I’m gonna put it all under a read more cus it is really really long!

i wanna start off with the fact that I had the privilege of attending school in a financially stable environment, my parents were/are really supportive so w merit scholarship i only came out with around 20-30k in debt and i also had housing support my entire time in school. they were ok with me focusing on academics so i didn’t hold a retail job unless i was out of school like summer/winter break. Ofc though i regularly take commissions/do merch/cons to try and pay for all bills that arent rent cus i did want to be financially independent where it was possible. I also did try and work during the semester but everytime i did my body would deff start to breakdown from the fact that i didnt wanna compromise schoolwork with jobs.. so just read ahead know this experience is from a student who was able to attend focusing only on school work for most of the time!

the biggest thing is knowing art school is not required to become a professional in either freelancing or industry! there are a huuuge amount of online tools and classes these days that provide the exact same education and for cheaper too. i think it depends on what experience you prefer/can handle/want but it’s definitely possible to make art/animation art your living without higher education. the thing that college will for sure give you though is the ability to meet deadlines, work even when you dont want to, and connections with peers+teachers. i think the connections part is invaluable because you’re basically coming out with a network of people you already know and who know you! 

also its good to know if you want to attend/can handle art school! it’s a lot of time and energy and students get burned out really fast. the best piece of advice i got before going was ‘if you draw every single day, even if its for only like 5-10 minutes or a doodle for a whole year you should be fine’ consistency is super key because you’re attending school to draw, and you’ll have to create work for stuff you aren’t excited for at some point or another. burnout is extremely real and the only reason i didn’t experience it was probably because i got super into drawing naruto fanart again inbetween sophomore and junior year! it helped give me something to draw seperated from school which is the only thing i was drawing for since i had entered rip. a heads up id also consider myself a workaholic so i fit in ok with the ‘art school’ environment but it is suuper unhealthy. if you are fantastic at managing your schedule then it’s definitely possible to take care of yourself! freshman year i got 8 hours a sleep a night and only pulled all nighters for some second semester finals at the end. sophomore year + up though i ended up prioritizing hw over sleep and like for sure, definitely shortened my life span. there’s another q down below where i’ll go more into detail but ya, be careful w ur work balance!

another tip especially for animation is knowing for a fact what type of animation you’re looking to go into, and what the school is offering. I didn’t think i’d get into art school at the time so i only applied to two places + decided if i didnt get into either id attend community to get credits out of the way while building portfolio. honestly? i did not do a lot of research LOL but like i did end up having the chance to tour and stuff! just know that each school will have a very different curriculum. The main differences are schools that prioritize 3D (cg animation, cg modeling, ect) and 2D/traditional (hand drawn, ‘oldschool’, digital or traditional based) this is a huge difference so make sure you do research for it! in most cases a 2D/traditional program will also offer 3D since it’s at the forefront of the industry animation wise rn. My school taught 2D but like hand drawn on physical paper 2D, frame by frame. while it was a good experience it’s super outdated because digital tools make it way faster + easier! i’d recommend looking for a program that is digital 2D over traditional 2D. 

if after your senior year covid is still affecting campuses in the US to keep them shut down i’d recommend attending a community college to get credits and then transferring into school. one of the negatives is paying money for gened classes when ur not there for them; if you can get them out of the way sooner and cheaper there is absolutely no negative + you could graduate earlier or use the extra time for better work or to work a job! 

these are all the general tips i think i’d give on like a broad basis of attending or not to think about? let me know if u have more q’s! someone asked q’s im answering below that go more into personal experiences + work culture so heres those:

- how many hours a week do u spend studying, in class, otherwise making art? like how much of ur life does it consume?

I was basically working on art.... 24/7! since i wasnt working a job at the same time i crammed as many credits as possible into my schedule so on avg i did 18 credit semesters (around 6 classes) art classes go for 6 hours and non art go for 3, so i’d spent around 30-35 hours in class a week! hw wise it varied on the class but combined it would be around 35-50 hours a week... im guessing? on average studio classes would have 8-10 hours of hw, maybe 5 for a light week, and gened classes 5 hours w them all combined. or this was probably how things were before junior year? junior+senior year i had thesis + everything else ontop.. i’d spend around 30-40 hours on thesis a week with other classes ontop of that bc my film was super long cus im a dummy! 

- is it hard going to art school n realising that altho u were probably quite talented… so is everyone else? Like. all of a sudden. ur not special and everyone seems as good as u, you know? More generally, how do u deal with comparison?

kinda?? i think instead of the idea of like you vs others it feels more of like a competition at first to be the best. this varies hugely on school culture though; my animation year was really friendly with each other and get along extremely well, so my answer to this is v different than some others who attended different schools. i think that the idea of ‘comparison’ only lasts a portion of the first year because at some point you realize that it’s not a who’s better as much as its a ‘these are my coworkers’ type thing? like healthy competition 100% because we’re all working to improve but i think most of us learned pretty early on that viewing each other as peers going into the same workforce helped a lot. also at some point everyone develops their own style/starts to develop their artistic preferences so there isn’t a way to compare whos 'better’ anymore? i dont think there ever is tbh because style is appealing based off of an individuals preferences. If anything realizing everyone else is also amazing makes you wanna work harder ig? or thats how i felt! it’s inspiring to be surrounded by so many people who create such amazing work. 

- is there a lot of workaholic culture? all nighter culture?

100000% there can be a workaholic and all nighter culture. i know people who avoided it and thats honestly fantastic because i fall super easily into that pit. sometimes i’ll pull all nighters on a personal project just because i really want to finish it... i am definitely considered a workaholic all the way through and its not healthy rip... i’d estimate at the worst i was pulling 2-3 all nighters a week and only 4-5 hours of sleep on the nights i didn’t? that was only for one year tho, after that i was like yeah ok this is really bad for my health in the long run LOL so i tried to cut it down to one all nighter a week and around 5-6 hours of sleep the rest of the week! by senior year my decision to cram in full semesters paid off and i was able to consistently get around 7 hours of sleep a night + no all nighters minus finals since my schedule was lighter despite thesis 😭 while there is that culture i don’t think people view it as like a badge of honor or something to be proud of anymore which is good, we mostly view it as a flaw of the art school system and something that needs to be fixed!!

- are you glad u did it? how did u know it was what u wanted?

i am glad i did it! i’m definitely in a limbo right now of if it was worth both my time, money, and my parents money rip but i think with what i got out of it i definitely wouldn’t be as far skill wise or knowledge wise when it comes to the art industry. i would say it was only worth it for be because i had so much support going in though so i was able to focus so much on improving. if i had only been able to put in part of the effort and not make full use of the resources provided i would honestly have a different answer.. 

i knew it was what i wanted when i realized i really couldn’t see myself pursuing a different profession happily! despite all the bumps and stuff im fully in love with drawing still and feel honored that it’s a field that can provide a living. my second profession choice was to go into culinary school? and third option i think going was into music cus i was also a band kid hehe.

i think seperating work art from personal art is important! in my case im doubling naruto into being personal work so i have something to fall back onto that isn’t work related. its been a hyperfixation for 12+ years? so drawing it at this point is just like personal art imo. some people have hobbies outside of art and only draw for their job! i think after attending classes for so long the idea of hobby turning into job feels extremely natural? also i enjoy doing it so thats a huge plus!

San Diego Comic Con 2019 -- Sat. Marvel Studios Panel

Got back from a long weekend at SDCC Sunday night and wanted to post my reactions. This first post will be about the Saturday Marvel Studios panel since that is what has captured most people’s interest.  Fair warning, half of this is going to be my own personal waffling and stream-of-consciousness that you may not care a wink about.

I've been trying to get a SDCC badge for, what, 4-5 years now?  Year after year, the lottery did not look kindly on me. So towards the end of 2018 when I finally succeeded in getting a badge for 2019, not only was I excited to have gotten a badge at all, but I thought I was extra lucky and that, if I were to be able to attend any year, this would be the year to attend because 1) it would likely be the concluding Game of Thrones panel, which after almost a decade would be a monumental event and 2) under the impression that the Loki series was going to be some of the first content available for Disney+ released late 2019/early 2020, without really having any expectations I was daydreaming about how great it would be if Hiddleston were to be there promoting Loki+ as well.  Turns out both of these were true! 

So flash forward to the weekend of SDCC.  Since we'd learned that Loki+ was still on the far horizon I'd completely forgotten about any wistful idea of Hiddleston being at the con.  In the aftermath of Endgame, I was not feeling interested in the upcoming Marvel Studios content, but still my love for Phase 1 and 2 and completionist tendencies were compelling me to try and get into Hall H on Saturday for the Marvel Studios panel regardless.  If only 50-100 more Star Trek fans hadn't felt it worth sticking around for Marvel, I would have gotten in, it was very close, but I didn't quite make  it. But I did get to see the official recording of the full panel sans promotional videos Saturday night 3 hours after the live event as part of the "playback" programming at the con.   

So! Feige's introducing movies and bringing their casts onto the stage, but my brain's so comfortably seated in my prior belief not expecting Hiddleston to be here that the possibility didn't even dawn on me.  I was so dense you guys, it did not dawn on me until literally 5 seconds before Hiddleston came out on stage, even after Feige had started talking about Loki+, lol. But what a delightful surprise! 

People are talking about the bit of music that played while Tom walked onto stage. There's another piece of music, though. In the playback of the Hall H panel that I watched, there was some introductory video for the Loki+ bit of the panel for which the video itself was redacted but the sound for the video still played.  For that piece of music, whimsical is the wrong word, I don't want to bring people's minds to the cartoony/whimsical character of the first Loki+ logo we saw because the music wasn't of that nature, but it kind of felt quirky and unearthly, not heavy, grounded, and driving like a lot of the powerful MCU themes. I thought it had to be for Dr. Strange 2 until it became clear it was for Loki+. 

I was delighted that the audience started chanting "Loki! Loki!" in callback to his previous SDCC appearances.  That's a good group of fans there. 

Also, seeing these huge groups of casts and creative teams coming on stage for 10 minutes at a time to introduce each of their movies, and then seeing Hiddleston up there by himself to introduce his own show, given equal weight and importance among the other MCU announcements at the panel, it just uniquely dawned on me then how proud and happy I felt that Hiddleston now had a front and center role carrying his own show and was getting the recognition for it, no longer a supporting character in a larger ensemble film.  He was the only one that had the stage all to himself during the panel.  Coming close would be things like Falcon & The Winter Soldier, which featured Mackie and Stan, but it's unclear to me how much that show is going to be about their characters vs. just featuring their characters, being about their interaction and the situations that arise when you throw them together.  I have hope that Loki+ is going to be specifically about Loki as a character. 

I enjoy the fandom content featuring Strange, Wanda, and Loki together as the trifecta of powerful magic users, and so when they announced Wanda would be making an appearance in Dr. Strange 2 I was lightly miffed that Loki was left out. In practice, though, I'm not sure how challenging it would be / how likely it would be that the creative team would execute such a Loki appearance well so I'm not going to focus on it. 

And then Thor 4.  Despite having negative interest in anything Thor-related at this point and agreeing that Loki as a character is not well-served by the sensibilities of another Waititi film, the thing I was most interested in was seeing if Hiddleston was going to join them on stage for that one, and when he didn't, I will admit that I felt a juvenile, knee-jerk reaction of irrational and undeserved resentment on Hiddleston's behalf, as if he was being excluded and deemed not good enough to be in another Thor film after all that he's brought to the Thor franchise, but of course it made no sense to feel that way when my brain kicked in. I'm not going to touch any of the 'behind the scenes relationship' wank, but in the most general possible sense, different stories have different needs.  Either a character furthers a specific story or they don't, and for a piece of work where service to the story comes first, it should be as simple as that and needn't be about the character at all.  Plus in this case logistically I don't even know if Hiddleston would have the time to act in both Loki+ and Thor 4. 

With how Jane was carelessly brushed aside in Ragnarok, and not being aware of anyone in Marvel Studios having talked about Portman since TDW, I was very surprised about the announcement that Thor 4 was going to feature Jane again, and intrigued as well at her larger role, just not enough to actually see the film.  Maybe there's hope for Betsy yet (I don't actually believe that).  What's interesting is that the Marvel comics and Marvel Studios exhibit that was in Seattle earlier this year featured artwork of Jane-as-Thor (if I remember correctly, it was created specifically for the exhibit) next to Hemsworth's costume, and now looking back I wonder if that was deliberately added to the exhibit by someone that had knowledge of Thor 4 or whether it was just a coincidence. 

I cannot decide which has the sillier name: "Thor: Love and Thunder" or "Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness".  Oh wait, yes I can. 😋

MCF Moths to a Flame commentary part 2...

I really heavily underestimated how much jumping I was gonna do watching the gameplay alone... So, Eipex, good job on making me scared for the MD’s life... MD: LEMME OUT. If this weren’t so entertaining, I would honestly be screaming the same still...

everyone SHUT UP im making an obligatory sonic hc post (under cut bc I know how dumb stupit they are)

alright so first I need to tell you all that amy DOES still do tarot card stuff and she made a lemonade stand-esk thing she sets up in town. people come all the time and get their fortune read and she’s super popular for it. she also lives in an apartment and works part-time as a waiter but she doesn’t work it as much as you’d think because the world is Constantly Being Attacked By Eggman. contrary to popular belief she DOES work though. baby need money.

Sonic, on the other hand, doesn’t work at all but people love him and he gets money from being a hero or picking up it off the floor. He didn’t get much popularity until the events of SA1, though, since it was the first time he saved something as large scale as a city (save in quotation marks). 

Sonic never actually planned to live and settle down anywhere, ever, but since he basically had to adopt tails he was like “well... I should probably live somewhere.” Tails made a lab that also acts as a house for the two, and they live atop a hill in a cabin style house in the woods. Not many people actually know where they live because... media is full of creeps.

Shadow also lives in an apartment with rouge and omega (SOMEHOW they fit omega in there... he just hibernates in the corner and makes pancakes that are always slightly burned). I don’t like how they just made shadow join GUN even though GUN sucks so I say that he still hates GUN but they forced him to join under like. military watch. all of team dark actually hates GUN but they don’t want to be detained and arrested so they just :|... one day they’ll overthrow those assholes.

Cream is in a girl scout troop. Big and Amy help her get all her badges and she’s literally the best in the troop. Vanilla always has picnics for the girls.

Silver likes to come from the future and just chill in the present time since the future is 99 time out of 100 actual shit.

Blaze is a princess in the Sol dimension but we’ve never seen her kingdom (as far as I know ?) so uh. yeah she has a kingdom and fire powers run in the family. It’s why her family defends the sol emeralds, because. fire... strong.

Also Sol emeralds and Chaos emeralds differ in the fact that Chaos emeralds just increase general strength (super forms), but Sol emeralds increase strength in your strongest aspect (burning blaze.) I think sonic goes super from the sol emeralds but... I make canon. The Sol emeralds increase Sonic’s speed more than anything but don’t give him as much raw power.

time to talk about obscure characters because Marine the raccoon is a baby and I love her. Her and Blaze hang out all the time after SRA and Blaze can relax with her and not have to be so caught up in keeping appearances. Blaze guards the sol emeralds... and her child.

I like what archie did with honey cat being a fashion designer but I also like honey being a fighter so I. smashed the two together. honey has a kind of athletic fashion company that tries to mash up looking cute with kicking ass. honey also sneaks away from work sometimes to get into bar fights and she kicks ass at them (it’s stress relief!) I like her to see her and amy as pretty similar in personality but honey is can be a bit more... mischievous, I guess? 

Also the dress Amy wears was a gift from honey, and honey was the one who gave amy her redesign makeover~.

Team chaotix was built together very haphazardly. Vector found a kid and just took him in. Hired Espio as a mercenary, asked Espio to build a house and somehow it worked out. Literally no idea how, but it did.

I like to see Mighty as a super big fighter when he was younger, and he got into scruffs all the time. No reason, just did. Once he met Ray and realized that he didn’t want to hurt people anymore he went full sage mode and wants to live peacefully... passively. Ray thinks he’s super cool.

Mighty stayed with the chaotix while he was a super ruffian and met Ray through them. Vector and Espio are super scared of Mighty and noone else knows why.

Knuckles doesn’t really consider himself apart of chaotix, but the chaotix consider him apart of it because of Knuckles chaotix. Knuckles doesn’t really align himself with any teams (my team is the master emerald, bro)

‘’Hyung here is your coffee, have you found anything out yet?’’ Youngjae said as he gave Jaebum his coffee and sat down in the passenger seat of the car. Jaebum took it thanking him with a nod and took a sip before replying. ‘’No nothing yet. The suspect is still inside but I assume that he will come out soon.’’

Jaebum and Youngjae were currently on a stakeout and were very close to arresting the person they were following. It was a case that involved drugs. Personally it was Jaebum his favourite type of cases these days. The ones that didn’t involve corpses and risking him becoming one were the best. When it comes to a case with drugs it usually involved stakeouts to figure out the places where the drugs were being held.

‘’Suspect is now walking out.’’ Youngjae said interrupting Jaebum his train of thought. He looked up and sighed and handed Youngjae his coffee. But before he could take action his phone rang. Sighing he picked it up. ‘’With Jaebum?’’ He said with an agitated voice. ‘’Is that the tone you use talking to your mother as well detective Im?’’ Said the voice on the other side. But before Jaebum could respond the person on the other line started to talk again. ‘’Don’t answer that I need you and detective Choi here immediately.’’

‘’But sir we are very close to getting the suspect.’’ Jaebum said. ‘’Like I said get here. Right now detective Im.’’ With that the person on the other side of line hang up. Jaebum sighed as he started the car. ‘’What’s up Hyung?’’ Youngjae said after taking a sip of his coffee placing the other coffee in one of the drink stands in the car.

‘’We have to go back to the office.’’ Jaebum said as he looked around to get on the road. ‘’What? What about the suspect?’’ Youngjae asked as he looked at the suspect walking off in some shady alley. ‘’Gotta forget about him. The captain didn’t sound exactly happy when he called.’’ Jaebum responded not taking his eyes off the road.

Youngjae chuckled. ‘’When does he though?’’ Jaebum smiled glancing at Youngjae. ‘’I suppose you’re right about that.’’ He said taking a sip of his coffee at a red light. ‘’Thanks again for the coffee.’’ He said putting it down. ‘’Well someone has to.’’

It was strange they have never been in the office that is inside their office. The squad or well only Jaebum and Youngjae call it the office of doom, whose office was it? The captains. People only come in here when they fucked something up. And Jaebum was 100% sure that they did nothing wrong. So why did they sit there with the door closed and the blinds closed.

‘’You must wonder why you are here, am I right detective Im? Detective Choi?’’ Jaebum nodded together with Youngjae. One thing Jaebum learned when he started to work here is that when being in a situation like this, the last thing you should do is talk back. Their captain stood up and held out one of his arms. ‘’I’d like your badge and gun.’’

‘’Excuse me sir but what did you just say?’’ Youngjae asked looking at their captain in confusion. When Jaebum heard Youngjae he knew they were fucked, but he couldn’t help but think the exact same thing. ‘’You heard me detective Choi. Your badge and gun, please this is the last time that I will repeat myself for you.’’

Jaebum sighed and took off his holster where his gun was in, then he grabbed his bade from his back pocket and put it on the captains desk. Youngjae looked at Jaebum and then slowly did the same. ‘’Thank you for your hard work, the two of you had a successful career here.’’ The captain said looking at the two of them.

‘’Why did we have to do this.. Sir?’’ Jaebum asked as he looked at the badge he worked hard for to get. ‘’Why did we have to hand in our badge and gun if we had a successful career?’’ The captain chuckled, a thing he never did. Then he sat down and looked at the two of them. ‘’The two of you will be transferred to a different department.’’

Jaebum and Youngjae looked at each other and then back at their now ex-captain. ‘’Which one exactly?’’ Youngjae asked. Jaebum followed up the question. ‘’And why?’’ Their questions made the captain chuckle again. ‘’First. The two of you will be transferred to Seoul Police Department. And second, you can’t grow here anymore.’’ The captain said.

‘’Not to be rude sir but we stopped growing a few years ago.’’ Youngjae said looking at the captain. ‘’I didn’t mean growing like that detective Choi. You two are the best detectives in this unit and I want the two of you to continue and grow to become even better detectives.’’ He said and gave them a paper. ‘’Here is the contract please sign it to become officially part of the best unit of the Seoul Police Department. Unit 0.’’

The two grabbed the pen and signed the papers. When they were done they got up together with the captain. ‘’Well then, I shall send these to the SPD. Gentlemen good work. Now please leave my office I have work to do.’’ The captain said as he shoved the two of them out of his office.

They looked at each other once again. ‘’So..’’ Youngjae started. ‘’What about the drug case?’’ Jaebum finished. At that moment the one who worked as the civilization administrator tapped Jaebum his shoulder. ‘’Don’t worry the case will be given to someone else. Good luck at your new unit. Talking about them it’s time you two leave this place and go there, don’t you think?’’

At that Jaebum just nodded and left saying nothing. Youngjae quickly said bye and followed him. Once they were outside Jaebum groaned in frustration. ‘’For fuck’s sake! What a shit excuse is that?! I didn’t work my ass off this hard to be treated this way by that asshole!’’ Youngjae jumped a little at his outburst after all wasn’t leaving that place better than staying?

 ‘’Hyung please, your chin is showing.’’ Youngjae said trying to calm him down, though he couldn’t help but agree a bit. After all who releases their supposed best employees right in the middle of a case, right only a madman or someone that thought that his employees were threat to him. Jaebum sighed. ‘’Sorry Youngjae.. It was my dream working here… But you know the story.’’ He went with his hand through his hair. And looked at the said man. ‘’I guess it is time to go to our new work place.’’

Youngjae nodded and smiled. ‘’Everywhere is probably better than working with maybe the closest spawn of Satan.’’ He said and walked together with Jaebum to the car. ‘’You’re right, maybe a little change is better.’’

Now they were standing in front of their new office, it had been quite the search, it felt as if the Seoul Police Department was 10 times bigger than the one back in Incheon. It was so big they had to ask the reception where the office was for the so called ‘Unit 0’. Luckily the receptionist didn’t think they were stupid for not knowing and showed them.

They were nervous, they didn’t know what to expect, old people? Are they dressed as Sherlock Holmes? None of them spoke a word but it was Youngjae that broke the quiet atmosphere around them. ‘’Hyung you open it.’’ He said softly. Jaebum shook his head. ‘’No you do it you’re younger.’’ He responded in a hushed tone.

‘’Yeah but you’re older shouldn’t you be taking care of the younger people?’’ Youngjae said again this time looking at him. ‘’Sorry my hands cramped because my oldness decided on it.’’ Jaebum responded again looking back at him.’’

‘’Hi, can I help you?’’ Jaebum and Youngjae jumped a little at the quiet voice they heard behind them. When they turned around they relaxed a bit. ‘’Oh thank god you’re not a ghost.’’ Youngjae said as he sighed in relieve. Jaebum stayed quiet and kept looking at the red haired man before him. The red haired man chuckled at Youngjae his comment and then looked back at Jaebum. ‘’Is something wrong?’’

Jaebum blinked a few times realising that the man said something to him. ‘’Ah yes! I mean no there is not, well kind of. Do you work here?’’ He said. The man chuckled and nodded. ‘’Yes I do work here, come inside I suppose? Unless you have to be somewhere else?’’ The man said as he opened the door and walked inside. ‘’Actually we do!’’ Youngjae started. ‘’We kind of got transferred here without further notice, my name is Choi Youngjae or well detective Choi. And this is Detective Im.. Im Jaebum.’’ Youngjae said as he pointed at Jaebum.

The man nodded and sat down at his own desk. ‘’Ahh so you two are the new detectives from Incheon right? The name is Mark Tuan. Nice to meet you.’’ Mark said as he smiled at the two. He pointed at the two chairs in front of him. ‘’Please sit down, want something to drink?’’ He said as he got up again.

Jaebum and Youngjae quickly sat down and shook their heads. ‘’No thank you we just had our coffee actually.’’ Jaebum said. Mark nodded and walked to the coffee machine making his own coffee. It went quiet for an uncomfortable amount of seconds before Youngjae started to talk again. ‘’So uh are you all alone here… Where are your other colleagues?’’

‘’Ah sorry for not saying this earlier. Our captain is currently in a meeting, don’t know where the others are. Don’t worry though they are all nice.’’ Mark said as he sat down back down behind his desk. ‘’Could you tell us something more about… This unit and why it’s a zero and not another type of number?’’

Mark looked up at Jaebum after looking into some files on his computer. ‘’Oh we’re just like any other unit here, except well this office is all about research for cases and such. Perpetrators don’t come here. The captain also doesn’t have his own office and works alongside with us. Everyone here if basically best friends with everyone here. Oh and in here we don’t call it Unit 0 but the ‘JYP Unit’.’’ Mark finishes his story and takes a sip of his coffee. ‘’Are JYP the initials of the captain here?’’ Youngjae asked.

Mark nodded and looked at him. ‘’Yeah it is, we don’t call him captain when he’s around by the way. Just call him JYP and all will be fine.’’ ‘’That’s kind of irresponsible if you ask me’’ Jaebum mutters softly. What kind of Captain basically renames a unit after him. But hey all he has known was a very strict captain.

Both Youngjae and Mark heard Jaebum mutter and chuckled. ‘’Ah it’ll be fine Hyung.’’ Youngjae said patting Jaebum his shoulder. At that moment the door opened and closed almost immediately. ‘’Ah Mark I see you helped our new two detectives already.’’ A voice said behind them. Mark nodded and they slowly turned around. ‘’Hi I’m Captain Park Jinyoung, but the two of you can refer me as JYP. The man said.

Jaebum and Youngjae and stood up introducing themselves and doing their greetings. ‘’Oh please don’t be so formal, I’m not that old you know.’’ JYP laughed placing both his hands on each their shoulder. But I guess it is time for some serious talk, follow me. He said as he led them to his own desk.

‘’JYP We’re back! And the case is solved as usual!’’ Jaebum looked behind him once again when the door opened. This time a younger man walked in silver hair and loud. ‘’What would the world be without us!’’ Another young man came inside, black hair and tall. Youngjae looked at them and they looked at both of Jaebum and Youngjae.

‘’Guys quiet down a bit, good job though proud of the two of you. Also  come here I want you to meet your new colleagues.’’ JYP said pointing at Jaebum and Youngjae. The silver haired man walked to them. ‘’Hey the name is Bambam but you can call me Double B. I am currently the hottest detective in the area.’’ He said. ‘’No one is going to call you Double B.’’ The other one said. ‘’Hi I’m Kim Yugyeom, sorry about him. You’ll get used to it though.’’

‘’Shut up Yugyeom don’t pretend to be all innocent. We all know you’re the worst.’’ Mark said softly as he quietly kept typing something on his computer. Jaebum had to admit, the people here currently might be a weird bunch but he already knows that they are good people. Jaebum stood up and introduced himself to Bambam and Yugyeom. ‘’Yeah nice to meet you too, it’s Im Jaebum.’’ Youngjae stood up as well and smiled. ‘’Hi my name is Choi Youngjae.’’

JYP cleared his throat. ‘’Bambam, Yugyeom please get started on your report. Jaebum, Youngjae I have here your badges ready and your holster.’’ JYP said as he unlocked the closet next to his desk getting said objects out of it and handed it to them.

Youngjae took it gladly and looks at the holster. ‘’Thank you sir, where do we get our gun?’’ He asked. JYP chuckled. ‘’Oh that’s right you will be getting a customized gun. You know safety reasons. But you can always train your shooting at the range in the basement.’’ He said looking at Youngjae. Who looked at Jaebum. ‘’Hyung they have everything here.’’ Youngjae said excitedly.

Jaebum rolled his eyes at his friends excitement. ‘’Youngjae please don’t rub it in.’’ He said softly to him. The rest of the guys looked at him confused. ‘’Rub in what?’’ They asked. Youngjae grinned. ‘’What that I’m a way better shooter than you? Sorry Hyung no can do.’’

When Bambam heard Youngjae he laughed. ‘’Sorry no offense uhh Youngjae-Hyung but are you sure that you’re way better?’’ At that Youngjae looked at Bambam. ‘’You haven’t seen us shoot so who are you to judge?’’ Bambam gulped and apologised knowing he shouldn’t have said something like that.

‘’Yah Bambam come here and make this report with me!’’ Yugyeom said grabbing him by the collar. ‘’Yugyeom you will ruin this blouse if you pull it.’’ He said after Yugyeom let the collar go. ‘’I really don’t care you have a million other blouses to wear.’’ Yugyeom responded.

‘’Hello? You’re speaking with JYP. Ah Junior the two of you are almost done? That’s great, good job! We shall meet at the usual spot, great good to know. Another thing the 2 new detectives are here so get two extra seats, alright thank you.’’ JYP hung up and looked at his team. ‘’Well then everyone let’s head out shall we?

If there was one thing that Jaebum thought that would never happen in his career it would be a team dinner. But yet here was sitting next to Youngjae and Mark drinking out of his glass with soju. What he found more surprising is that he found himself enjoying himself, for once he actually had fun with other people aside Youngjae.

‘’Detective Im are you feeling okay?’’ Jaebum looked at the person who asked him, ah it was the only female detective of the unit (Y/n) (L/n) was her name, Jaebum had never thought he would meet someone as beautiful as her, now that might have been mostly the alcohol talking because Jaebum never admits something like that so quickly after meeting someone.

‘’Yes, I’m fine don’t worry.’’ He said as he returned the smile to her. ‘’I thought our favourite boss called JYP told you to call him Jaebum huh!’’ A drunk Bambam exclaimed loudly. ‘’Shut up and don’t come so close your breath stinks like beer. It’s gross.’’ She said pushing Bambam away from her.

She then continued. ‘’Besides I respect him a lot as a detective calling him by his real name feels unreal to me.’’ Bambam just rolled his eyes. ‘’Oh pleaaaaseeee don’t give me that crap!’’ ‘’Bambam quit it.’’ Jaebum looked over at Junior or well also Jinyoung. He looked at him as Jinyoung tried to control Bambam. He had to smile at the sight.

‘’Hyung…’’ Youngjae said to him. Jaebum hummed not bothered to respond. ‘’I’m kind of glad that we got send here. They seem a lot of fun don’t you think?’’ Jaebum nodded as he looked around. Mark sat quietly enjoying his drink. Then there was Yugyeom eating as if he was about to die. Bambam who tried to cling on Jinyoung and lastly he looked at his new boss and (Y/n) talking about various things. ‘’You’re right Youngjae they do.’’ Youngjae grinned. ‘’I’m always right.’’

January 2021 Budget Recap

This is a tentative series I’m starting on my blog. Personal finance is something I became very interested in when I got into medical school, because IT IS EXPENSIVE. Yeah, definitely not as expensive as the States, but it’s still not cheap, either.

Personal finance is very personal, but I thought it would be interesting to have this series for the sake of transparency and accountability. I say transparency because this is something I really wish someone else posted but I can’t really find, but at the same time, I will be a bit cagey just for privacy reasons.

(I didn’t include rent, groceries, utilities, any of the classic fixed expenses because I’m not paying that rn. I’d rather not disclose why, but I understand this is a hugely privileged position.)

January 2021 Budget Recap

Subscriptions: I pay for my some of my family’s subscriptions, which costs me ~$25 a month.

Giving: I donate $20 a month. Last month was to a GoFundMe.

Family spending: Budgeted $100, spent about $70.

School: I originally budgeted $1,500 for this, but then I decided only to buy Boards and Beyond for now (instead of also buying Sketchy, Pathoma, AMBOSS). So I cut down my budget to $600, which I used to buy Boards, as well as my stethoscope. I also needed a proof of enrollment form for a bursary, and I paid a small deposit to get a hospital badge. It all ended up about $600.

Eating out: Budgeted $100, spent about $40. Ate out twice, which I’m pretty proud of.

Clothing: Budgeted $200, spent $80. I’m trying to buy more clothes to build a wardrobe with good pieces. I don’t regret my purchases here.

Beauty: Budgeted nothing, but then I ran out of some skincare, so I bought very expensive skincare for $150... I don’t regret it because it was a good deal for the size. And I won’t need to buy it for a few months. I’m pretty scrimpy on beauty products, I don’t buy things that I don’t already have, so I’m not bothered by it. Covered it from my clothing budget I think.

Gifts: I budgeted $150 because I bought some late Christmas presents lol, and I had some birthdays. I spent $125, but I anticipate spending that extra $25 this month because I still haven’t bought a friend’s birthday present (it’s a group gift and logistically has been a nightmare).

Health: This is where I didn’t budget enough (or anything... lol). I realised I hadn’t gone to the dentist in over a year, mainly because I lost my dental insurance through my parents. Which is dumb, because I had school dental insurance... anyway, I went to the dentist and it ended up costing $600. Luckily my school dental insurance covered $400 of it, so I only ended up paying $200. But I didn’t budget for this, and basically wiped out all the other categories I had underspended in to cover for this (and was lucky it was enough).

Fun money: Budgeted $40, spent $20 on a game. No regrets. It was worth it.

Books: Budgeted $30, spent $20. I don’t buy books often, but I did for the new year. It was kind of not a great purchase, but books can’t be the worst investment in the world.

Misc: Budgeted $50, spent $50. It’s not really spending though, because I put it towards my investment account after I saw the GME story LOL. I haven’t invested it in anything yet... it takes 3 business days for a deposit to process so I thought I’d keep it in an account just in case I want to invest in the future.

Total spending: $1415

Thoughts

A bit of an abnormal month with school and health expenses, as well as some leftover holiday gifts that brought my spending up.

This was my first month really diving in the deep end with budgeting, so I did budget a bit more than I expected for my categories. That ended up working out for me because of my huge unexpected health expense, but I’m glad that I have a better idea of my spending patterns moving forward. That in combination with me trying to spend less money in February has me having a much smaller budget for February, which is... maybe not the wisest choice, but we’ll see on March 1st, eh?

Day 10,311

In the mood to express but having a hard time starting because I’ve got maybe eight directions I’d like to go in with this but um, they don’t really have much to do with each other? So. I don’t like to write without continuity. I don’t enjoy it. I want there to be a flow. But. Tonight I’m happy to say fuck it.

Five lamps on. An empty container that had blackberries in, some Spicy Cajun Crawtators lol, and maybe 10% left of a bottle of water. Make that 2%. Paused Shameless, fourth episode of season 9. Took a eight o’clock shower so my hair is top notch currently. Took the shower without music because I needed, mm let me find the word. it’s not grounding but it’s something along those lines. Ally does it with Alayna to calm her she’s having fits, but I can’t think of it. Something to do with sensation? Anyways. Took a shower in silence because I can’t have anything coming in right now. No external factors. There is basically never not noise right now. There is never a soft place to land. Wait that’s not true. I currently have a new bedroom that so quickly became cluttered and safe. That deserves a big hell yes.

Things to look forward to this summer in no specific order of importance and/or place on the calendar:

1. Genevieve’s wedding festivities.

2. Finishing Shameless.

3. Hamilton comes out on Disney+.

4. Hopefully getting a part time job.

5. Reading the few books I brought with me.

6. Going teal for the summer.

7. Endless opportunities for quality time with the girls.

8. Becoming buddies with Jayden Michael Lee.

9. Receiving my final CAUSEBOX.

10. Hopefully receiving my 2019 refund and PUA money.

11. Filling up the strawberries journal.

Addey just popped her little head in to tell me she loves me before going to bed. That girl. Sleeps in just her panties. Dedicated herself to figuring out how to do her own ponytails a couple afternoons ago and was overjoyed every time she pulled it off. “That’s an important thing for a girl to know how to do.” She thrills me.

What’s happening in the Black community right now is gigantic. I don’t know if I’m allowed to be hopeful, but I think I am. I mean, most of my experience this week has been being really unsure of what I’m allowed to do as a white girl but. I’m trying. And accepting that me trying is potentially awkward or worse problematic but not trying isn’t acceptable. So. I will do my best not to knock shit over as I MOSTLY LISTEN. Listening keeps feeling like not doing enough? But. Whatever. I wrote somewhere else and will now write here, I can handle my own discomfort because I am not who this is hard for. I am not the center of this and dear God I hope this is my time to learn how to decenter.

The last time I went fully blonde I went into the salon noticeably stuffy and really nervous about a bad interaction. Had a lovely little time chatting with the blue haired wonder lady who was doing the work for me. At first she was like, “Oh you probably just have allergies.” But then once she heard my cough she got wary. Which. Of course she did. How disgusting to be getting paid to be up close and personal with a plagued woman. I wilted and told her she had my full permission to talk shit about me later to the other girls. And I 100% meant it. Ultimately, that’s probably my core objective. Giving permission to anybody who encounters me to come to the conclusion that your girl suhhhhcks. I do. You have my personal guarantee. You might like it about me haha, but I suck.

So let's see, Gwen now knows about Emma's advantage. I tried probing Chris to see if he'd tell me that Dem was slandering me, I was just talking about how much I trust our group. (To be frank, I think I laid it on too thick.) He didn't give though. I think it's a good gauge to see if people want Dem to go. We'll have to see if others beyond Gwen come forward with this info. In the meanwhile I made $50! I missed the last couple 1 to a mistake which Gwen got. The other I'm not sure since I simply wasn't online. If I can make back another $100 I'll meet the amount I'm "supposed" to have after having bought the utilities. I still don't think I'll ever have enough to "make a move" in this game, but maybe I can prevent someone else's. A railroad purchase isn't too crazy if I can get things and people to line up properly. I feel like my ideal 3 at THIS moment is Myself, Emma, and Jess. While my ideal next 3 boots are Brien, Dem, and one of Andrew and Chris.

I feel like Chris is lying to me about something, but I don't know what. I definitely trust Kori 100%. The information that I share with him does not get out. The only thing that I haven't shared is that Chris and I literally go on call every night and like fall asleep. I'm debating whether to tell him...I feel like if I wait too long, he might not trust me. But if Chris tells him, I might break Kori's trust. I might tell him tomorrow. We will see. I would say that on a game/strategic level, but Chris definitely more on a personal level. But like Chris COULD be totally playing me. I wouldn't put it past him. But luckily, I have my guard up and I'm totally aware that this could be a possibility. I really hope Brien goes home. He's toooo snakey. I'm still not totally sure who shared the info about the alliance with Dem...but time will tell. I have the Cloud 9 power. Chris, Austin, and I put our resources together to get it. I can use it on me or on them, but I can't transfer it. Obviously, I told Kori about it as it was going down. Lol. But I trust Kori not to throw me under the bus. I WANT to trust Chris. Holy fucking shit. I knew my HOH reign would be messy but I didn't expect it to be as messy as it is probably going to be. A lot of people are cracking. There are sooooo many god damn cracks. I know with me as HOH there is A LOT OF UNCERTAINTY between people so people are going to crack. Liveblogging A Hat in Time: Post 5

Just finished the subcon well

I made it to subcon forest since I was barred from continuing the Battle of the Birds without an item

Right off the bat this chapter made a poor first impression because the fps problems I’ve been having so far became 100x worse the minute I set foot in the map

It got especially bad whenever I turned my camera towards the part of the map that is constantly on fire, which made certain platforming sections HELL

I had to turn my graphics down to the absolute lowest setting just so I could make it up there because the fps drops were making the jumps impossible, and after a while I just decided to leave it at the lowest while playing this chapter, I still had some fps drops

That coupled with the annoying swamp hands made this chapter come the closest to making me rage quit the game until I can play it on my gaming laptop back home

I’m not looking forward to exploring the rest of this map for secrets

On the bright side, Snatcher is great. I actually answered no to his contract a bunch of times to see what would happen and ended up dying lol. 

Due to some tumblr posts im assuming he has a sympathetic backstory and seeing as how the fire spirits he wanted me to “murder” were taking about how they wanted to die and “cleaning the well” ended up bringing water back to the village, it’s pretty easy to see that his over-the-top villain thing is just an act and he’s actually nice

On that note, going up to the fox spirits and having the first thing they say be “I want to die!” is what I would call a Big Mood™

I got the Dweller Mask, which probably takes the prize for most underwhelming power-up in the game. It’s so underwhelming that even the level it shows up in has to give you bells you can ring to do what the mask does but better. But at least I was able to get that one yarn in Mafia Town that I couldn’t reach before

On that note, while it annoyed me a bit before, I love how the first level has a ton of places to use the later hats powerups to encourage you to go back and explore while playing around with your new powers, that’s a really cool design idea.

Call me nostalgia blind because of Mario Sunshine but I honestly think that the first level is the best one so far. Fuck the gamespot review

To make up for the underwhelming Fox Dweller mask, Act 2 gave me the Hookshot, and while I was kinda expecting it to be a hat, which would let me keep the third badge slot open, I guess it makes more sense for it to be a badge. 

Other than that the Hookshot is just as great as I was expecting, and the Well level was mercifully short and fun (except for the opening part where I had to go through that annoying swamp) and served as a great introduction for the new mechanic

I’m also super excited to go back to Mafia Town now to play around with this thing and it unlocked the stage I couldn’t complete in Battle of the Birds so I’m gonna go back to finish that before I continue Subcon Forest

I also replayed some levels to get achievements. I’m going to try to 100% this game because it’s really fun and the achievements seem reasonable enough that going for 100% won’t drive me insane

Well maybe I’ll just get to 99% or something, I’m planning to get all the time pieces and all of the achievements, but if there’s something more to 100%-ing the game like “collect every single Pon” then I won’t bother

Firstly I would just like to say that I am sorry, I am sorry but (apology void since I said ‘but’) BUT you kinda have to understand and maybe see things from my point of view. Growing up I didn’t notice, I come from a huge family (as you know) and not once did my siblings treat me as the ‘sick kid’ I remember I wore you like a badge of honour as a kid, I learnt everything I could possibly fit into my 10year-old brain and told anyone who would listen “I almooooost died!!!” “Im a freeeeeaking miracle!” Boy we had some good times didn’t we? Then I grew up.

People staring at my chest cos of my boobs is one thing (and the subject of a completely different letter) but noticing you is completely different. You’re mine. No-one knows what it is like to have you, well at least no one that I have met anyway. I became tired of the curious glances and the constant questions. Especially doing what I have chosen to do for a living. You are hard to ignore because I think it is kiiiiiiind of obvious that I have had SOME KIND of surgery in the general chest area. Big shouts to the people who think its a botched boob job, just wanna throw it out there that YOU are the real MVP’s You may (or may not I dunno) be surprised by the amount of DMs I get asking me to tell all or at least offer some kind of explanation as to why there is a massive (is it reeeeeaallly THAT big?) scar in the middle of my chest, why you’re there; the people wanna know. They actually NEED to know.

I used to attempt to cover you with makeup, attempt being the operative word here. In the early days of Instagram I even went as far as to edit you out, which just seems extreme now lol, especially because I had hardly any followers thus no one actually caring about the state of my chest plus I’m incredibly terrible at photoshop. I hope you can see that even though I waited a while to say it, and it took me almost forever to appreciate you; I got there in the end right? Its a weird thing because we were cool, then I learnt to hate and be ashamed of you and THEN I had to learn to accept you all over again. I bet you can guess which one was harder.

I don’t think I want to dedicate this letter to people who have a disfigurement because I am not entirely sure thats what you are. I don’t know what you are, I mean I know that you’re beautiful (in your own non-symmetrical, impossible to ignore kinda way) you’re a daily reminder of how strong I am, of just how much I have done and am still yet to do. I look at you sometimes, especially on those days when I am not feeling 100% and I really do think I am lucky to have you. We have the literal reason; without you I would be a goner but more than that I guess you are a mark of honour as such.

That is why I decided to work with the British Heart Foundation, I know that I am not ready to tell everyone everything about you just yet, but sitting in front of a room full of women (and my brother & Albi, big up you two for being the only guys there) and explaining to them that heart disease doesn’t just effect the balding white man who eats too much bacon and wears short sleeved shirts (no offence guys!) well, it made me realise that maybe you aren’t something to be ashamed of. I know this is a bit late and probably long over due but I FINALLY accept you and daaaaaare I say it? I might love you just a bit (:

QUARTET NIGHT LIVE Evolution 2017 - 2017/02/12 - REPORT Part ①

As usually, not 100% accurate with the order, especially the talks, so much happened but I'm surprised with how much I remember.

Goods

I went to the Live Viewing at Saitama. They sold goods at each cinema during their open time.

My cinema opened at 8am and I got to the the place just after 7am, there was already about 60-100 people lined up.

There were Shoutan fans!! They wore the PRISM long Tshirt and had the bags, I briefly acknowledged them. I had my PRISM Itta bag with me too (and a tiny Ai-chan itta bag).

We started moving a few minutes before 8am.

I kept thinking how they are selling the goods, do we tick what we want from a sheet? Do we buy at the till and tell the staff what we want?

I was too distracted while walking in, my eyes briefly glanced at the goods on the table to my left. I kept walking on.

I realised you just pick up what you want along the way and quickly snatched the pamphlet! The next thing, oh the clothes...  It's pretty dark grey, hmm, just one left... Picks up to look at, about to put it back WAIT!! THATS THE CARDIGAN! THERE'S ONLY ONE LEFT!! I quickly held it close to me tightly. THE LAST ONE!! 。・゜・(ノД`)・゜・。 Most things were gone already! 😭 Only one Live towel left, I think there was 2 bags, I'm sure there was tshirts, but again my mind was somewhere else and never picked them up 😭 The next thing I picked up was Ai-chan's brooch, there was some left along with Reiji's, barely any character towels left. Some light sticks NO BADGES?! BANGLE LIGHTS?! RING?! CHOCOLATE?!😭😭😭 The charms were all gone too, but I wasn't going for them.

There was quite a few fans left, Ai-chan's had the most. I made a last minute decision to get one to make up for not being able to get the other goods I wanted.

So, I got the pamphlet, cardigan, brooch and fan. Plus 2 random keychains for spending over a certain amount *Will upload pics later*

I opened the first random packet, Ranran came out, not too bad, next one was Camus. Ai-chan~~~~ 😭

I went to the crowd of fans to try and exchange for Ai-chan, and if possible the QN logo

I seen the Shoutan fans again, they obviously would want Ai-chan, skip. Where's Ai-chan~~~

Ah!! Ai-chan!! I asked the girl who she was looking for and she said "Camus-sama" SCORE! Put Ai-chan's one away, kinda still want the logo~

I stood for a while holding Ranran's one And then a girl came to me asking if they can get Ranran for the logo Yatta!! Mission complete 💜 And now to roam about for 6 hours or so before the live (omg I was SOOOO bored! 😩)

Came back to the theatre and went to the screen, my seat was 7th row from the front

The girl next to me was wearing the Long T! Yeyy Fan: are you Mikaze Ai's fan? Me: Yes~ Shoutan's fan? ✨ Fan: Hai sou desu (yes that's correct) Me: Yatta! XD Fan: Yatta ^^ Yoroshiku onegaishimasu Me: Yoroshiku onegaishimasu~

I asked her name, she's Yukina.

The screen was showing the Live logo and then changed to the goods

Not long after it showed the venue!!!!

Ahh!! It was beautiful!! All monochrome Part of the stage set was decorated with their character colours

We were saying how amazing it looks and she said it's very QN-like ✨

She was like "yabai yabai!!" I'm so glad a Shoutan, and a vocal fan is next to me!! For the past lives I've been to, apart from Shoutan's Osaka live(sat with a friend) Every stranger I've sat next to are SO quiet! Yeyy! It's gna be fun! XD

Morikubo (acting as Reiji) dressed in the pamphlet suit, was waking, swinging car keys. He walked to a garage, opened the door and the green car was there!!!!! He got in, adjusted and looked at mirror cooly and drove off.

Shoutan (as Ai-chan) sits reading a book by the sea, the cover and title(in Jap and Eng) of the book was shown, can't remember the name but it was a complex book. THEY SHOWED US AI-CHAN'S VISION SCANNING, ANALYZING THE BOOK!!! Me and Yukina died as soon as Shoutan appeared XD

Morikubo arrives in the car, Shoutan looks to the left behind him, closes book, gets up unimpressed pointing at his watch as he's late (perfect Ai-chan expression) Morikubo apologises Shoutan's like, whatever and gets in the car.

Next scene was night time. A limousine drives through the night, he pours tea, puts sugar in tea one by one, (in fast motion) takes nearly half the bowl!! The camera turns to Maeno (as Camus) drinking tea.

Maeno looks out to his right, Tatsun (as Ranmaru) passes, walking with his bass on his back.

There was a cat!! He goes to pet cat!!!! and left after.

Shoutan and Morikubo reaches their destination, gets out the car.

Maeno also arrives (kinda looked Joker Trap-like where they were) He throws his jacket to the chauffeur and walks away.

Tatsun throws his bass to his chauffeur. Lol

All of them gathered, walking together FRICKEN KAKKOI AS HELL!!!

QUARTET★NIGHT

I knew they were going to start with this song!! They appeared in monochrome suits (mostly black) 😍 Maeno wore contacts! His hair was done in such a nice way!! I've never seen him look this good before!!! Shoutan!!!!!! HE'S SO BEAUTIFUL (as always) his hair was so pretty with the green bits

They all danced to parts of the song, you can tell they really practices SO hard (their performance was perfect!)

They all gave us yabai expressions from time to time Kyaaaaaa~ 💕😆

I'm not a huge Reiji fan, but I really loved this super genki performance! Following Morikubo, we shook our lights back and forth as if it were maracas for parts of the song 😂 He shouted the "I love you" part

Junketsu Naru Aspiration Maeno danced so well to this!! If I remember correctly he had the cane too! As mentioned in my previous post how each Seiyuu is their character, Watching Maeno perform really made me think, he is Camus. The way he performed, his facial expressions, his seriousness, it was sooo Camus-like

Innocent Wind

Me and Yukina freaked out again hearing the music start!

There was more choreography at the start and the dancing began earlier than 5th. The music was off a bit at first, and also Shoutan seemed off too, I watched him really intently during this performance as soon as I noticed. Ok, he seems fine now.

His dancing was better, but he was half dancing missing certain steps Wait, he really does seem off I wonder if anyone else noticed or if it was just me, I was going to ask Yukina but didn't at the end I was so worried, thinking either his mind was somewhere else, or maybe his condition isn't 100%? I caught glimpses of his facial expressions. He looked uncomfortable at times and then his expressions quickly changed back to being in character.

He walked up at the last part. ♪ Arigatou, soba ni itte kurete~ Smoke came out at the end covering him and he disappeared. Ai-chan!!! 😭 Shoutan: Arigatou, soba ni itte kurete

There was platforms on either side, both of them got on and they were raised up!

After being lowered they walked right in the tiny pathway in the audience!!!!😱😱😱😱 SO CLOSE And went to the platform held there

Shoutan looked really freaked out for a split second after the end, holding his chest briefly. What's wrong Shoutan????????! 😭😭😭 After thinking, I realised it might be the nerves from being so close to the audience? We all know how shy he is after all But... Although that was a possibility, to me it didn't look like that...

Started off with Morikubo sitting on a chair at the right side of the stage and he danced a bit Next he walks left and the spot light hit the ground where a rose was lying there He picked it up performing with it, and dropped it afterward He went more to the left again, this time the spot light shone to an opened umbrella He picked it up and spinned it while resting it on his shoulder

Tatsun danced to the song too and performed SOOOO well!

RISE AGAIN

Morikubo appears on the platform at the left, and asks if Ranran/Tatsun is ready The light shines to the right, where he is, he looked so exhausted from his performance!! and he look at Morikubu like “Ehh??” So cute!!

They also walked in the audience to get to the other platform

At the end they had their backs against each other and the Morikubo put his arm on Tatsun! THE KIZUNAAAA

Moments I have witnessed intense KnB fans in Japan

Upon request here’s my post of personal experiences I’ve seen or been in that show how Japanese KnB (mainly Akashi) fans are that you probably won’t see too often back in your home country.  *If you are one of these fans, I’m not saying stop doing it or you shouldn’t do it, but just be responsible and don’t neglect other priorities and don’t inconvenience others...and be reasonable. Also these are things I’m not used to seeing so for me it’s quite eyebrow-raising. Thanks. 

Fans with multiple and intense ita-bags (bags with character merch usually dedicated to 1-2 characters)

Many people cover every inch of their bags with badges/straps of a character and I’ve seen some intense Akashi ones. Also they many have duplicates of the same badges and I’ve seen people who have like THREE bags they take to J-world or an event.  *(I also have my own itabag and I know other Tumblr users have their own as well. And I can say, those are normal and I wouldn’t classify them as the ‘crazy’ bags I’ve seen)

Fangirl logic in Japan as said by someone in an interview: The more you spend on rare merch of a character you like the more you love them, or something. Hence why girls collect 50 duplicates or more

Last year they had NewStyle badges which were from a lottery/kuji at certain arcades. You could choose who you wanted so buy the time I got up to try all the Akashi ones were gone. The Akashi badges in particular were VERY expensive on auction. A two-badge set went on average at the time like $60. It would’ve been cheaper but there was this ONE girl (same girl because the username was the same) who kept BUYING THEM ALL OR WINNING ALL THE AUCTIONS. I had the auction pages saved (since I was keeping an eye on them while I was bidding) and I calculated the total of the ones she won and it went over $600....

I eventually got my own set for $90........

Also pretty sure I’ve seen the acutal girl because she had like 40 New Style badges on her bag and these weren’t common badges compared to the usual KnB ones from J-World......she also had 3 intense Akashi bags and I see her frequently..

Fans spending TONS of money to get a high rank in Cross Colors.

There is no hack or cheat people literally do spend hundreds of dollars to get a high rank for a 5 star Avatar in Cross Colors. I’ve seen the same people try one event after another so it’s not like they save up for months and then go all out. Fans do this for other game apps too like Ensemble Stars.

I just wanna say first of all, even his hands are gloved and since it’s a mask, he can’t talk. Think of it like Mickey at Disneyland or any other mascot

I’ve seen a girl actually trying to strike a conversation with him and all he could do was stare back and nod and gesture her to move on because she was holding up the line.

I’ve seen another girl jumping up and down in front of him showing off how she got the Akashi movie clearfile. Again not much of a reaction from him. 

When I got a picture with him, there were girls peeping at him from behind the backdrop like some stalkers.....it was really unsettling....

When he walks around J-World, he ALWAYS WITHOUT FAIL has a herd of fangirls following him trying to take pictures of him, and I know some of those girls are J-World regulars and already have a pic with him. One time the guy was going back to the staff area but they had to do one last round of pictures because the girls would’t leave him alone. 

This is probably a thing in multiple fandoms and even back at home but KnB stageplay tickets selling out within 10 min. And a lot of those tickets were bought merely to just be resold at a much higher price. And that was just for the first play.

People going to Jump Festa and sleeping overnight in line when you’re not supposed to but guess the staff allowed it anyway....I went at 3:30am so I could get a shot at the limited KnB Merch and I barely got them...

I’ll also add people buying KnB merch not even for themselves but for the sake of selling. How do I know? For example the Oreshi Puni Puni doll is limited to only two per customer and then I see on auction the same day one seller selling two of them. Unless they asked their friend to pick it up too so they could sell for money but I feel that’s still pretty bad and unfair to those who actually wanted it.Also seen people sell like 40 KnB Jump Festa keychains...which by the way sold out.  

GIrls (specifically girls) shove you and knock you over to get in line for the goods even when staff members are there demanding you line up calmly and no running. I had one girl fully jab me in my arm with her shoulder to get ahead of me. 

Last year’s Jump Festa had an exclusive Akashi wall scroll that sold out in less than 30 min despite the limit they set per person. The original price was about $32. I found one on auction for $100 and bought it right away. Sad thing is, that was the cheapest. Later when everyone else decided to put their own scrolls up for auction they went super high like $300-500 if I remember. I remember one auction it was a fight between three buyers and then it got down to two buyers and they kept outbidding each other and the auction got extended for 2 extra hours because they wouldn’t stop bidding. (Yahoo auctions only end if there are no bids in the last 5 min otherwise they automatically get extended for another 10 min). Ending price was at almost $700, or if not it WAS $700 depending on the currency exchagne rate.

My friends and I were at J-World just chilling at a table resting and these two Japanese girls walk by and one of them points at my Akashi bag and shows her friend. They weren’t in my line of sight but my friends who could see them from our table said that the other girl sat down and started pulling out ALL of her Easter Akashi merch ranging from badges, straps, putting on her decked out Easter Akashi lanyard, and displaying them on their table. I was just sitting there talking and my bag was just casually on a chair because we had space for it....I wasn’t trying to start anything. And it was very clear that she had more merch than me anyway so I don’t get why it was necessary to show that she is clearly the “winner.” 

Jealous fans who won’t stop staring at you

Example of this was when my friend and I were at a KnB Cafe. There was a mini game the staff did halfway through where you try to match the same picture as them and if you’re in the top 5 (I think) you get a special sparkly holograph coaster of a random character. My friend managed to be one of the lucky ones but the coaster you get is random. My friend luckily drew the capsule that had the Akashi coaster so she gave it to me. Once someone picks that capsule the staff doesn’t put it back in the box so in other words no other winner can get an Akashi coaster. One Akashi fan across the room kept creepily staring at me after that because her friend also won a coaster but because the staff came to us first, her friend had zero chance of getting Akashi. That girl kept staring at me for awhile and it was quite unsettling....

I actually saw someone’s profile on Cross Colors that said that....

Last year for Valentine’s, the Jump Store had a lottery campaign where if you tweeted a picture of a Valentine’s Card you got from them and tagged it with whatever hashtag it was, then you can be entered for a KnB poster lottery of your choice. One girl literally made an account just for this on twitter and spammed every hour a post so she could try to get the Akashi poster. Now that’s not the worst part. Each post had some sort of sentence of her declaring her love for Akashi and how she loved him more than anyone else in the world (she actually said ‘world’). How she only thought of him ever since she “met” him 3 years ago. She even jokingly said as a reference to Akashi’s phrase, “If I don’t get that Akashi poster I won’t forgive you Jump Store lol” at least I hope it was a joke. 

If you just google image search 赤司部屋 (Akashi room) you can see how dedicated some fans can be into decorating every inch of their room with Akashi merch....literally every inch....though I’ve seen rooms like that for other characters too and other series. 

You’d think fans would be happy that you like the same character as you right? Or everybody in Japan is nice? Well, sadly for Akashi fans that’s not the case a lot of the time. When it comes to showing off merch on twitter fans seem pretty chill but when it comes to actually getting the goods and in person, well.....good luck....

So that’s my report of personal experiences of crazy KnB fans within my 3 years of Japan. I really wished I was making these up but I don’t think I ever could. Here’s to hoping none of you guys have to experience these XD;
