AHAHA well. you see. i am not very smart.
The bestest beasties is quite a long list but to limit it to five (in no particular order) (allowing for some very broad categories):
Crows
Turtles
Elephants
Aye-ayes
Orcas
Excellent selection
Also, didn't know what an aye aye was, jokingly though 'Solaris likes pirates then hahaha' googled it, fully misread it to say 'aye aye - pirate'
Image Id: cropped search result, first it says 'aye' then 'aye-aye' and in smaller text underneath 'primate' on the right of the text there is a small photograph of said creature. Major 'Koala that has been doing intense drugs for the past 10 years and now you can see what it did to it's body' vibes. Underneath is another search results saying 'aye aye captain'

Wait....the Downunda Freedom Fighters have fans???
Barby Koala certainly does at least, for obvious reasons
My very scientific way of determining if a minor Archie character I don’t see people talk about much actually has fans is to do a Google image search*. If more than a couple pieces of fanart show up at the top of the search, they’ve probably got fans. (Redesigns don’t always count because a lot of the time people like to fix characters that they don’t like.) Characters like Tommy Turtle have next to nothing, but sure enough the Downunda Freedom Fighters all have some fanart
* Do not Google image search any Sonic character

Reposting because I edited the picture + wanted to add more details
So I had this pink teddy bear when I was around 3 and have never seen her since. My mother believes we got her from a thrift store. I've literally looked ALL over Ebay, Etsy, google images, worthpoint, youtube, pinterest, instagram, literal teddy bear sites, and EVERY site you can think of. but I haven't seen anything that looks remotely like her. I know some gund and eden brands do look similar to her, but they're not the same bear. So I figured I'd try to post on my social medias and who knows, maybe someone even has her in their house! She was medium sized, ALL completely pink, had a velvety (hard) button pink nose, flat face (like didn’t really have a muzzle), stiff body (like it didn't really bend), eyes far apart, close to the nose, and short and soft fur. She did have this lace collar around her neck but my mother told me it was from another toy that I had put on her. The bear does not rattle or make any noise. I know, not too much details and I'm sure to everyone else she looks like many pink bears but she's actually very distinctive. I even felt like she looked kind of like a koala because of the way her face is made. I wish I even knew what brand she is! I didn't even know I had a picture of her a couple months ago until I saw my dad had one. I was sooo happy because it's literally all I have left of her. She means the world to me and I get super attached to personal belongings very easily. Honestly, if I didn’t have this picture, I wouldn’t think she even existed because of how much I’ve searched online. Anyways, I’m not giving up and I would sell my soul to have this teddy bear back!

Eight Ways to Sunday: Behind the Scenes [Chapter One]
For fun, I thought I’d post (some of) the (mostly) relevant searches I made and webpages I visited while writing the first chapter of Eight Ways to Sunday. Not all of these ended up being used, and some haven’t been used the way you’d expect.
THIS COULD CONTAIN SPOILERS. Though, in fairness, they’re probably pretty vague spoilers. This is only for those of who you really wanna see some of the thought process behind that monstrosity.

DAY 2: In Bloom
for @saboace-week
ao3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/14037066 fff.net: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12876532/1/In-Bloom
Day: Love at First Sight Word Count: 4096 Warnings: Fluff | So much fluff
Summary:
There was a man perhaps no more than twenty feet from him, half hidden behind the front counter. Sabo didn't know how he had missed him, so distracted by the plants themselves that he must have merely skimmed over him, drawn to other things. Now, however, with his full attention riveted on the man, it seemed foolish. He was easily the most stunning thing here.
There was coffee in his veins. It surged under his skin and beat behind his eyelids—or maybe that was the migraine. It was hard to tell, admittedly. At some point he had lost track of time, of even the date, hours marked in coffee stains and empty mugs balanced atop each other like an abstract depiction of art around his desk. His laptop was dusty, screen smeared where his hands had brushed against the glass, fingerprints standing out in the glare of the overhead lights. He hardly noticed, used to it by now.
Koala would call him a slob, but at least he got his work done. Even if it meant multiple all nighters and a possessive claim on the coffee machine closest to his desk. It had gotten so bad that Hack had even printed out a new sign to hang above the counter. It read: Beware Rabid Chief, and Sabo couldn’t even deny that it was fitting, maybe even a little accurate.
For a group of journalists, they took their job seriously. Sabo even more so. He was the Editor in Chief, second only to Dragon within their publishing firm. Realistically, he could have sat back and enjoyed the lessened burden the position offered him, but instead he pushed himself even harder . They were making a difference, slowly but surely, working to peel away the veil the government cast over civilian eyes, and they were damn good at their job, but Sabo still wanted to do more. He was already in charge of their budget, their personal image on the internet in the harsh world around them, as well as being their primary hiring manager, even if he left most of the actual scouting to Ivankov. More than that though, he made it his personal mission to read over every single report before they landed on Dragon’s desk, as well as taking the time, occasionally, to write his own additions as well.
And he was exhausted.
A political scandal was in the works and Legislation was working overtime to bury it and kick it under the rug. Which, of course, meant that their entire publishing department was working overtime as well. But at least most of the staff still slept .
Koala wasn’t the only one that noticed Sabo’s late hours turned into early mornings, and the way many would come in to find him in the same outfit as he had been the day before. She was, however, the only one that harassed him about it. Among other things.
“You look like a raccoon that crawled into a tailors, robbed them blind, and then got run over. Twice.” Standing in precisely the wrong spot, in between Sabo and his closest source of light, Koala’s shadow stretched over him ( and his keyboard), her arms folded and eyebrows drawn. “Really, Sabo, it’s no wonder that you’re still single. Have you even eaten since I last saw you ten hours ago?”
Thoughts slow to process and left to blink at the sudden difference in light now that his face was cast into shadows, he was sluggish when his hand rose so that his gaze could fall on the beaten watch at his wrist. The timepiece blurred in his vision, numbers dancing in tangent with each other. He couldn’t really pick out the exact time down to the minute, but it was enough to realize that it wasn’t the same day anymore.
“Oh,” he paused, voice rough with disuse. “It’s morning.”
Koala gave an exasperated sigh, hands unfolding to reveal a small pastry bag which was promptly dropped onto his desk. It smelled of blueberries and his mouth watered. He was already reaching for it when a hand smacked gently at the back of his head, nearly dislodging his glasses from where they sat at the bridge of his nose.
“This is the third day in a row , Sabo. You’re no help to us like this.”
There was an arm in his vision, but he paid no mind to it until his computer screen went black. The whine, when it left his lips, was muffled by muffin crumbs but still just as pitiful.
“No, don’t even start with me right now,” Koala chided. “You’ve hardly moved in days, barely eaten, and I don’t think I’ve seen you sleep any more than that two hour period on Tuesday when your head hit the desk so hard it nearly gave Bunny Joe a heart attack.” She pulled at his chair and the wheels rolled back without complaint, Sabo’s outstretched hand, however, gave a futile struggle, his outstretched hands far too delayed. He sat back in the chair, arms crossed and pouting as she wheeled it away from his desk, out of his office and down the hallway, only stopping when they reached the front desk.
“Koala,” he whined, her name dragged out, eyes pleading . “Just let me at least finish the report I was working on. It’s almost done and I—”
“Nope! Don’t care. You’re going to run some errands for me instead. When you’re done, and only when you’re done, you can come back.”
She moved around to the front of the chair, pulling him to his feet with that damn monster strength of hers. His knees wobbled, just a little bit, but he remained standing on his own.
His lips parted to speak, but again, she beat him to it, her eyes sharp when they bore into his own. “Don’t even think about pulling rank on me, Mr. High and Mighty. I already got Dragon’s approval, so you don’t have a choice anymore. Besides, you’ll thank me for this later.”
Mouth snapping shut again, he scowled but it was halfhearted at most, the expression of a petulant child put into time-out. Koala pat him on the shoulder once and it felt onlymildly condescending before there was a folded piece of paper stuffed into his loose grip and he was abandoned with only the elevator as company.
He glared at it indignantly and took the stairs instead.
The list, when he opened it later, was annoyingly simple, but tedious all the same.
Go home.
Take a shower.
Get at least a four hour nap.
Eat a full meal. No, microwavable food doesn’t count.
Go on a walk. Outside.
Go back to sleep. Yes, before midnight. Yes, I will know if you don’t.
Sleep in, even if it just means staying in bed but not actually getting up.
It went on, of course. He did say that it was tedious after all, even if it was basically just telling him to do normal things like sleep and eat and not hide away inside his house for hours on end. Mainly, he was just annoyed that it was going to prevent him from working at all for the rest of the day. Koala hadn’t even let him take his laptop with him, so he wouldn’t be able to continue unless he went out and bought another one and by some miracle found a way to transfer over all of the files.
Fine, whatever, he could take a day off. It wasn’t that big of a deal, right?
Honestly, the only item on the list that really confused him was the last one. There was just an address there along with a shop name: Hibiscus Dreams. From Koala’s insistence that he find a plant that he couldn’t kill with neglect or accidental coffee consumption, it was safe to assume that it was a florist of some kind. She had also demanded that he bring back ‘ apology flowers ‘ for the office, so he would certainly hope that that was the case.
He was in no rush though, so he didn’t go that first day. Instead he sulked and followed the rest of the instructions begrudgingly and tried to ignore the way he did feel better after some proper rest, new clothes, and fresh food. Take-out—obviously. No point in burning down his kitchen and adding more things to the list.
When the following morning came and he was refreshed for the first time in ages, he was up and out of bed before seven. Koala may have demanded that he sleep in, but the multitude of hours in one place was already starting to drive him insane and he had gotten the rest she wanted him to. Besides, one quick google search had been enough to tell him that the store opened early, and the earlier he could get there, get the plants and leave, the sooner he could get back to work.
There was a website attached but he hardly glanced at it, just enough to confirm that it was the right address and nothing more. There was apparently a tiny cafe next door and it would be a decent enough breakfast to start the day, and his caffeine consumption.
Half an hour later, with a nearly empty mug of coffee in hand, Sabo stopped in front of a small, colorful shop partially hidden under the shadow of a nearby building.
Or at least, he assumed it was colorful. It was hard to actually pick up on beneath the plant life. Greenery had devoured the shop whole, vines crisscrossed along the brickwork, nestled into every crack of plaster and stone. There was a small awning over the doorway and archway just underneath, laden with flowers, blossoms of every color that spread out and multiplied, stretching dainty stems towards the sky. There were two trees nearby, close enough for the vines to have spread to them as well, climbing up the trunks, the branches strewn in white lights that caught the morning light like drops of dew. Most notable were the large flowering bushes planted just outside the shop itself, surrounding the edge of the building with wide green leaves and multicolored flowers larger than his fist dotted among them in the way blotches of paint met canvas.
Hibiscus, if the painted visage of the flower on the sign was any indication. Well, at least the shop was aptly named.
On the door itself was a small chalkboard, weather worn and chipped at the edges, the scratchy, bold lettering of OPEN smudged, but handwritten. A soft scoff left him at the messy handwriting, providing a brief distraction before his hand fell onto the handle to push inside.
There was a chime, bright and musical when the door swung inward, a far cry from the mechanical ding he was more accustomed to and it drew a brief flash of a smile to his features, the wind chime out of the corner of his eye made of tarnished copper and half hidden by leaves. And speaking of leaves —the entire shop was filled with them. Plants of all sizes and shapes overlapped amongst each other, layered into a rain forest of scents, a mountains face saturated with color and life.
His first thought was cluttered , but it was impressive all the same.
Even from where he stood, cerulean hues scanning over the room as a whole, it was easy to see how much care had gone into it all, a careful planning that situated certain plants in clusters together. And they were truly everywhere, hanging from the ceiling, stacked upon shelves, small pots nestled in between larger ferns and shrubs. Flowers were situated in a cluster of pots to his right, the arrangements beautiful and eye catching. There were even trees , some seemingly planted directly into the earth itself which was bewildering given that meant the owner had pried away flooring and concrete just to—what? Complete the look? Baffling. Why would anyone go that far? What kind of morondecided that was a good idea?
“Hey,” a voice spoke up, making Sabo startle. “Welcome in! Can I help you with anything?”
Sabo was already waving his free hand in denial, embarrassed that he had been caught in the doorway as his gaze shifted towards the origin of the greeting. “No, it’s fine. I’m just—” Whatever else he had been about to say died on his tongue, the last few syllables drawn out and fading to nothing on his lips.
There was a man perhaps no more than twenty feet from him, half hidden behind the front counter. Sabo didn’t know how he had missed him, so distracted by the plants themselves that he must have merely skimmed over him, drawn to other things. Now, however, with his full attention riveted on the man, it seemed foolish. He was easily the most stunning thing here.
Light streamed in from above, but it was only now, left to admire the way sunlight framed the stranger’s face like a lover’s caress that he even processed the existence of a skylight. Dark hair fell in a halo around his face, warm skin speckled in stars, creating constellations along the line of a strong jaw and neckline. And his smile— fuck —the way those silver eyes crinkled at the edges, a sign of how freely given the expression was, it was dazzling. Sabo was helpless in response, desperately taking in each feature, every small detail. There was a pocket of air lodged in his chest that refused to budge, thrumming with something terrifyingly warm that spread from there outward like melted honey or liquid gold.
He felt heavy with the sensation, weak to it.
Flowers seemed brighter besides the other, as if soaking in his presence, thriving. There were other things too, of course, wind chimes and trinkets that he caught at the edge of his focus, but Sabo couldn’t will himself to look away and take in anything other than the male himself, the way he shone as if illuminated from within. Dazzling. This guy was dangerous .
“You okay over there man?”
Sabo’s eyes focused all at once, the return of that voice enough to slap him from the dream like state he had lost himself into. Pulled back so forcefully, he snapped back to attention in the way a rubber band did, just shy of breaking.
“I didn’t mean to startle you, sorry.”
The man’s eyes were on him again, but the smile had faded, expression still soft but those hypnotizing eyes of his muted with concern and confusion.
Shaking his head frantically, Sabo snapped shut his lips that had parted in awe, eyes wide and color slowly creeping up his neck as that embarrassment from earlier came crashing down once more, submerging himself in it. He almost hoped that he could drown in it and put himself out of this misery.
“No! No, I—” He had just been standing by the door like an idiot, a gawking, moronic idiot, and now he couldn’t even talk without fumbling words and flailing hands. The coffee cup slipped from his hand and clattered against the floor, the meager remainder trickling out even as Sabo dropped to retrieve it. The movement caused him to step away from the door and it shut behind with with a creak of hinges, trapping him inside. “ Fuck, sorry I-I’m not normally like this, I swear.” Salvaging the cup, he was relieved to find that only a little had escaped to splash across the laminated floor. “Do you have a napkin or something? Ah—a paper towel maybe?” Standing up again, his back rod-straight, he was startled to find that the other had moved closer to him by now, away from the counter where flowers rest abandoned, mournful of lost company.
There was a small towel in his hand and Sabo’s attention only flickered to it when he leaned down to wipe at the mess on the floor, the stranger’s laughter soft like bells. “It’s fine, it’s fine. No harm done,” the man said. “This shop’s been through worse, so don’t worry about it.”
Frozen in place, he could only watch, mortified.
When he rose to his feet again and turned that same blinding smile back towards him again, Sabo swore that his heart skipped a beat.
“I’m Ace, by the way,” the stranger— Ace spoke, a hand held out in his general direction.
Up this close, Sabo could pick out each individual freckle, admiring the way his eyes glimmered with remnants of mirth and genuine benevolence. Suddenly self-conscious, he worried about his own appearance. Even after a day of decent rest, there was sure to be evidence of bruising under his eyes, beaten into him through extended neglect. He was too pale, the tan of his childhood faded with shadows and fluorescent lighting. Did he brush his hair this morning? He couldn’t remember in his rush to leave . God he hoped so; his bed head was atrocious. At least he was dressed nicely, right? Yes, of course he was. It was the one thing he was proud of.
And then there were the scars, the rough skin he didn’t bother hiding with makeup on days spent in the office. He winced at the thought, the reminder of his past, his upbringing. Fire. His hair wouldn’t be enough to hide the evidence of trauma on his face. It was harsh compared to pale skin. Ugly.
Realizing that he was staring once again, his arm jerked forward to grip at Ace’s before the offer could fall away, his grip maybe a little tighter than he intended. “Sabo—I’m Sabo. Sorry, again, about the, uh, coffee. I…” he cleared his throat, distracted by the warmth of the male’s hand in his, the way he could feel how calloused they were. Hard-working hands. He dropped the contact in another quick movement, wiping the lingering sensation off on his pants. “Uhm…”
Ace’s smile was gentle, understanding when his own hand fell away, the dirty rag hanging limply from the other. “Sabo, I already told you, it’s no problem. Seriously. The plants do worse everyday. A little coffee is nothin’ at all.” He stepped back a step and Sabo followed as if drawn in through magnetized force.
“Just here to take a look today or is there something in particular you were looking for?”
Right . He was here for a reason—not that it really mattered to him anymore. Koala’s list, even work was nearly forgotten.
“Flowers. Apology flowers?” Sabo wet his lips, his words hesitant as he followed Ace further into the shop. He cradled the remains of his coffee cup tightly at his chest, absently pressing his fingers into his earlier blunder. “Sorry, I’m not really...used to this?”
Ace only hummed in response, eyes cast about the room, glancing in the direction of the clusters of flowers Sabo had noticed before. “Don’t worry about it. Multiple I assume, or are you just lookin’ for one?”
That was at least an easy question to answer. “Multiple. Definitely multiple.”
“Bouquet?”
“Uhh...yes?”
Silver eyes were on him again and Sabo lost himself in argent pools, drowning. Again. There was laughter there, even in his gaze, but it was soft and lacked the edge of mocking he half expected, absent of judgement. He hadn’t known that metal could appear so warm and inviting.
“You don’t know a single thing about plants, do you?”
Sabo flinched, taken aback by the blunt statement. Surprisingly, he wasn’t offended. In the same way Ace’s eyes conveyed warmth, his words came off as gentle, consoling. Grip tightening a little further around his cup, he shook his head in silent admittance.
Ace nodded, expression almost fond before he turned away from him, heading towards a doorway at the back of the shop Sabo hadn’t noticed before. “Well, that’s fine. You’re actually here at a good time of year, now that I think about it.” There was a rustling from the other room, Ace’s voice a little muffled. “A few more weeks and I wouldn’t have hyacinth’s anymore.”
Despite himself and the knowledge that he probably shouldn’t , Sabo found himself moving again towards the far doorway, his steps hesitant but too curious to resist. As it turned out, the shop was longer than he first assumed, a separate room set up past the wall that opened up into a greenroom, complete with glass walls and everything. And, despite the seeming impossibility, there were even more plants crammed into this one space than the entirety of the first room. Trees and shrubs and vines clustered within every available space but they were nothing compared to the sheer number of flowers. He could likely name on one hand the species he actually recognized and the rest were beyond him.
And there was Ace, in the middle of it all.
Framed by plants on every side, with dirt smudging his hands and shoulder length hair pulled back into an unexpected ponytail at the nape of his neck, he appeared as a wood nymph must, or some other type of mythical creature. Sacred and wild.
“Probably safe to assume you don’t know the language of flowers right,” Ace spoke, eyes still on the flowers though his voice was obviously directed at Sabo. “Hyacinth, especially purple hyacinth like these, are the absolute best if you’re trying to apologize to someone. They literally mean ‘please forgive me.’ Seriously, how awesome is that? Flowers are great.”
His hands were unexpectedly dainty as Sabo watched his fingers skim over damaged petals, working through the collection of tight knit purple buds and snipping those that passed whatever inspection he was conducting, collecting the chosen few in one hand. It should have been boring to watch, but just seeing Ace’s soft expression was enough to keep Sabo entranced.
“White tulips are a must too,” he continued as he moved about the space, unhindered by Sabo’s gaze on him. “Another one that means forgiveness. A little bit of lavender, some violets and lily of the valley aaaand final touch—there!”
The flowers were held out to him in a flourish, dark purple, violet and pale whites twining together artfully with a small write ribbon wrapped around their middle. Sabo had been so focused on watching Ace that he had hardly noticed the actual design that had gone into their placement. They were beautiful.
“I—thank you. How much…?”
Ace was already wiping his hands off onto his pants, the evidence of a repetitive action painted in smudges of dirt against dark jeans. It was endearing.
“Oh, don’t worry about it. First time here, right? I definitely would have remembered you if you’d been in here before.” He moved past him and into the larger room again. “First bouquet is on the house! Besides, it’s supposed to be an apology right? I figure you’ve been put through enough already then, huh?”
Sabo gaped after him, nearly tripping over his own feet in the rush to follow after him, the flowers held with a gentle grip normally reserved for brittle glass. As if they might shatter in his hold.
“I can’t possibly just take them. You said it yourself. You won’t have some of these flowers anymore soon, right? That means they’re valuable,” he sputtered, eyes tracking Ace as he moved behind the counter again. “At least let me tip you or something— please .”
Ace leaned over the counter, arms folded and smile slight but sharper this time, sly . “If you want to pay me back, you’re just going to have to come again then, huh?”
Sabo flushed, heat returning to his cheeks in a rush that left his lips parted on soundless words. It probably wasn’t meant to come off as such an invitation but he was selfish enough to think it that way, to hope that Ace was asking him to come back as more than just a returning customer. And perhaps it was just a little cowardly to nod and flee, but there was laughter at his back when he did and the other’s smile emblazoned in his mind.
Later, when there were flowers sitting in a vase at his ( miraculously clean ) desk, Koala chided him for forgetting one, very important thing with a knowing smile and mischievous eyes.
He never did get that desk plant.

Design Update - Try our new navigation
Starting today, we're rolling out an opt-in beta version of the site that will feature a new header, footer and updated game tiles. The new layout features a minimal design that includes all the key features from the current version. If you are interested in taking it for a test drive, click the "Take a look" option in the banner at the top of the website (or click here). Once you've given yourself some time to adjust to the new design, we'd love to hear your thoughts. You can leave feedback by clicking the link to the Google survey just below the new navigation. Site Design Survey Results and Focus Groups It's been a few months since we asked for your thoughts in our Site Design Survey and you've provided a load of excellent feedback for us to really sink our teeth into. Thank you! Overall the comments were positive. You told us some of the reasons you love Nexus Mods and gave constructive criticism on the things we could do better. Here are just a few statements pulled from the results:

Only 43% of users said they visit Nexus Mods from a mobile device, with an average review of 6 out of 10. We'll be looking into the improvements and feature suggestions you sent in while working on our new designs for mobile.
When searching the site, around a third of you say that you sometimes resort to using an external search engine rather than the one built into the website. We also noted some really good feedback as to where our current search can be improved.
A lot of you really miss Mod of the Month being prominently shown on game homepages. We'll be looking into bringing it back into the spotlight in future revisions.
Many users have requested the ability to add more games to their favourites tab.
Users have also requested a better way of keeping track of their favourite content.
We’re aware that there are other issues with the consistency of the site, and we will be working through these in the background. We have invested a lot of time talking to the users who were selected to join our initial focus groups about various ideas our design team had for changes to the site. We will be sending out invites to a few more of you over the coming days, so if you said you were interested in shaping the future of Nexus Mods, keep an eye on your PMs. Introducing our new front end developer For a long time, we've been unable to give the front end of the website the time and resources it deserves. This year we have made it a priority to improve this with the aim of delivering a much better experience across the entire site. This is no mean feat for a design project the size and importance of Nexus Mods and we wanted to hire someone to work very closely with our designer to implement new designs and functionality to bring the website to life. I am privileged to introduce the newest addition to the Nexus Mods team, themagickoala.
Hi, I'm Rory, aka themagickoala. I started at Nexus Mods in June as the new front end developer. Since then I've been hard at work on the redesign, starting with this new beta release. Some fun facts about me:

I used to work in cybersecurity, but switched to web dev because I liked looking at the pretty pictures I made;
I've also worked in predictive analysis and in the automotive tech industry;
I eat JavaScript for breakfast as part of a healthy balanced diet;
I am literally a koala.

What's next? This is just the beginning of a much larger project. Our beta section will be running alongside the current Nexus Mods site. This will give us the opportunity to share new features and designs with you. When we are happy that we have developed the core features of the site, we will review all of your feedback and look at releasing beta. This will be announced well before the full release to ensure we have covered users feedback. The next release will feature a new login and registration system. Once this goes live, users will be required to update their passwords. More news will be announced when we’re closer to releasing the feature. What do you think of the new look? Let us know in the comments below. Published first at Design Update - Try our new navigation

Perth, the capital of Western Australia. The city where Swan River flows into the Indian Ocean is Australia’s 4th biggest city after Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.
Perth is just 5 hours away from Singapore and is easily accessible directly by Singapore Airlines, Qantas and Scoot.
It’s highly recommended to self-drive in Perth to fully maximize your time there, and also to give yourself more flexibility in time. Renting a car from Perth Airport isn’t tricky, as most well-known car rental companies are right in the Arrival Hall.
I rented my vehicle from Budget during my trip. It’s also recommended for you to purchase a SIM card from the airport and use Google Maps, as the SIM card will only cost you AU$10 for 5 days. Accommodation in Perth is quite affordable! For my trip, I’ve stayed in a boutique hotel near King’s Park & Botanic Garden – TRIBE Perth.
Perth isn’t a very large city and isn’t as bustling as the other cities, but there are still lots of things to do, sights to see that you shouldn’t miss, whether it’s within or nearby of Perth!
Perth City Centre
Why not start off your adventure in Perth from its city centre? Feel rich in The Perth Mint, where you will understand the history of Western Australia’s gold searching and the chance to witness the world’s largest coin – Australian Kangaroo One Tonne Gold Coin.
Source: The Perth Mint Blog
Source: Wikipedia
Shopping usually isn’t the must-do in Perth, but if you are in for some shopping, visit Hay Street Mall and Murray Street Mall to satisfy your shopping needs!
P.S. Looking for outlet shopping? You could visit Watertown Brand Outlet for discounted items from Adidas, Calvin Klein, Skechers, Cotton On etc.
A short walk from the main shopping streets, you will find a rather special building – London Court. It’s a shopping arcade that was built to look like historic London. (Personally, do visit London Court if you’re nearby, else you could probably skip this.)
Elizabeth Quay
A short walk from Perth City Centre will bring you to the iconic Elizabeth Quay, where the waterfront promenade and a bell tower stands. The Bell Tower, Perth is 82m tall, contains a set of 18 bells that hands in it. Once at the top, you can enjoy a 360-degree view of Perth’s CBD area. Next, you will see a 28m tall sculpture called ‘Spanda‘, that represents ripples and links the Swan River, land and sky. The final iconic attraction you will see is the Elizabeth Quay Pedestrian Bridge, a superb location for you to snap some panoramas of Perth’s CBD area.
The Swan Valley
Your Perth’s adventure will never be complete if you do not visit The Swan Valley! A trip to The Swan Valley could take up at least half a day, depends on the locations you visit, and the time spent in each location. The Swan Valley is located in a region between Guildford and Bells Rapid.
To start off your day-trip, it’s recommended that you visit Guildford, where the Swan Valley Information Centre is located. You could also get your breakfast fixed at a nearby cafe – Little Guildford, where they serve a huge hearty portion of breakfast set that will definitely give you enough energy to start off your day right!
From Guildford, a 15 minutes drive will bring you to Caversham Wildlife Park. This wildlife park is a must-visit even though this place is overwhelmed with tourists. You will be able to get up-close with your favorite Aussie animals like koala bears, kangaroos, wombats etc, you can feed kangaroos and wombats for free, spent some time watching animal & farm shows and many more! Admission prices for adults are AU$27 and AU$12 for children.
Next, a short drive will bring you to The House Of Honey where it sells delicious honey ice-creams and honey-made products. Their honey ice-cream was really good (a must-try).
Cheese-lovers could visit The Cheese Barrel, and be amazed by rows of different flavors of cheeses. Most of the cheeses were not made locally but were imported from all over the world.
What’s coming to Australia but not buying some nougats back? Do remember to visit Mondo Nougat! There are free tasting and you get to witness workers making the nougats.
Western Australia is popular for its winery, especially in The Swan Valley, you could find tons of them here! You could visit Homestead Brewery, Mandoon Estate, Black Swan Winery, Sandalford Wines, Lancaster Wines and many many more!
Kings Park and Botanic Garden
Singapore has Singapore Botanical Gardens, London has Hyde Park, Perth has Kings Park and Botanic Garden. This 400.6-hectare park is one the world’s largest inner city park that overlooks Perth’s water and the CBD area. A State War Memorial can be found in the park where it honors the servicemen and women who fought and died during the wars. At the top, you will be able to see a beautiful view of Perth city, great place for panoramas!
A stone-throw away from the park is the popular-Instagrammable Blue Boat House (Crawley Edge Boatshed). There aren’t any carparks nearby for you to park your vehicle to visit the boathouse so you would need to “illegal park” along a residential road opposite it. But actually, you won’t be spending too much time there anyway, even though queues may be expected at times.
Fremantle City
Fremantle should be planned on the same day as Kings Park, visiting this neighboring city of Fremantle will take you on a 30-minutes journey south of Perth. Things that can be done there includes visiting the Fremantle Markets, Fremantle Prison, Fremantle Harbour for an authentic Fish ‘n Chips meal, WA Shipwrecks Museum, WA Maritime Museum.

Apple iOS 12: the biggest new features coming to the iPhone – We knew coming into WWDC that iOS 12 would focus less on major new features and more on improving performance and eliminating bugs, and that’s definitely the case based on what Apple showed onstage today. “For iOS 12, we are doubling down on performance,” said software VP Craig Federighi. But the new update for iPhones and iPads does include some changes and improvements that you’ll notice when you install it this fall (or sooner if you join the beta). iOS 12 will be available on all the same devices that received iOS 11.
Performance, performance, performance
Apple is working to make iOS feel faster than ever — particularly on older iPhones and iPads. Federighi said that apps launch 40 percent faster, the system keyboard comes up 50 percent faster, and opening the camera is 70 percent faster on older devices. Apple is working to make improvements for all iOS devices when they’re under load and being used heavily.
Screen Time
Like Google, Apple is trying to help users strike a better, healthier balance between gadgets and life. A new Screen Time feature in iOS 12 will detail how much time you’re spending on your device and using individual apps. It can break down app usage by category (games, social media, etc.) and track which apps are sending you the most notifications. Screen Time will provide a weekly summary of your usage habits.
Similar to Android P, you’ll be able to set time limits for each app. iOS will automatically notify you when you’re running out of the allotment of time you’ve given to each application. A “time’s up” message will display when the counter runs out. If you want to continue using that application, you can simply request more time. Apple is also applying this abundance of usage data to parental controls, giving parents greater control over how often their kids are staring at a screen.
Grouped notifications
Apple is taking a huge, overdue step to fix its messy notifications situation: iOS 12 will support grouped notifications, so you’ll be able to interact with or dismiss multiple notifications from the same app at once. Grouped notifications show up in a stack to give you a sense of how many are waiting for you. Apple is also giving users more control over which apps are allowed to send notifications that vibrate their phone. “Quiet” notifications will show up in Notification Center, but not on your lock screen. They also won’t make sounds or interrupt you in any way.
New Animoji with tongue detection
The roster of Animoji characters that first debuted with the iPhone X is expanding again with a ghost, koala, tiger, and tyrannosaurus rex. And starting with iOS 12, Animoji will be able to detect when you’re sticking out your tongue and mimic that.
Memoji: custom emoji that look like you
But the bigger advancement around personalized avatars is what Apple calls Memoji. In iOS 12, you’ll be able to create characters that have your own appearance, choosing skin color, hair style, and outfitting your Memoji with accessories. It’s like a cross between Bitmoji and Nintendo’s Mii characters. Samsung introduced something like this with the Galaxy S9 to mixed reviews, but Apple seems to have put a lot of work into Memoji.
Group FaceTime
Apple’s video chat app will soon be capable of hosting more than one-on-one conversations. iOS 12 will introduce group FaceTime sessions that can include up to a staggering 32 people. Group FaceTime will be supported across iOS and macOS. When multiple people are on a call, their video windows will get larger when they’re speaking and shrink when they’re not. And for conversations where your face feels a little boring, you’ll be able to use Animoji and Memoji characters during calls.
Better augmented reality experiences
Apple has been working with Pixar on a new file format specifically designed for augmented reality applications. It’s called USDZ, and Federighi likened it to “something like AR Quick Look.” A number of companies including Adobe, Autodesk, and Sketchfab have already announced that they’ll be integrating and building apps around USDZ.
Measure app
iOS 12’s more powerful augmented reality is being put to use right away in a new Apple app called Measure. As the name suggests, the software allows you to accurately measure objects or walls around you. You put the object in the camera frame, tap and drag out a line, and it measures it. Several third-party apps already offer this functionality using ARKit, but now Apple is creating its own and taking advantage of the new, more precise AR capabilities in the upcoming version of iOS. Safe to say it’ll have a leg up on the competition.
ARKit 2
Apple is trying to own the conversation around augmented reality and establish iOS as the platform that’s leading breakthroughs for the unique, mixed world experiences that AR makes possible. The company is updating its ARKit framework and giving developers the ability to create shared experiences; two users on different iPhones can see the same thing when running the same app.
Photos
The Photos app in iOS 12 will automatically offer up search suggestions. And a new “For You” tab will suggest filters and effects you might want to apply to images you’ve taken. Photos will also now make sharing suggestions. A lot of these new features are a clear attempt by Apple to catch up to Google Photos.
Siri opens to more apps
Apple claims Siri is the most popular digital assistant in the world, and to help bolster that lead, it’s allowing developers more integration with iOS 12. Third-party apps can build shortcuts to allow Siri to carry out popular quick actions. Apple demonstrated a simple “Hey Siri, I lost my keys” as an example of a shortcut built for the Tile tracking device.
Shortcuts app
In what might be a dream for power users, Apple is introducing a new Shortcuts app that lets users string together multiple actions that can be triggered by a single, custom Siri request. This, again, is something similar to what Google and Amazon are already doing with their respective digital assistants. But a dedicated Shortcuts application will help get users trying out this new functionality as soon as iOS 12 ships.
CarPlay is getting Google Maps and Waze
Apple announced that its in-car platform CarPlay will add support for two of the most popular turn-by-turn navigation apps — Google Maps and Waze — after the launch of iOS 12.
Apple News
The Apple News app is getting minor improvements such as a new Browse tab.
A completely rebuilt Stocks app
For the first time in years, Apple is putting real work into the iPhone’s built-in Stocks app. It’s coming to iPad, will support after-hours stock prices, and will now include content from Apple News that might be relevant to your current investments or influencing the market.
Voice Memos is coming to the iPad and adding iCloud syncing
Apple announced that the Voice Memos app has similarly been redesigned and will come to the iPad with the release of iOS 12. And helpfully, your recordings will now be available across devices thanks to iCloud syncing.
iBooks becomes Apple Books
Apple is rebranding its ebook app from iBooks to Apple Books. Along with the name change comes a brand new design
Developing. Check out our Apple WWDC live blog for the latest updates!

Howdy, Moz fans, and welcome to another edition of Whiteboard Friday. This week, we're going to chat all things image SEO, so SEO for photos, for visuals, for graphics, and talk a little bit about how you rank, not just in Google Image Search, but also in Google in the Image Pack.
Image SEO basics:
Look, there are a couple of things that we should discuss before we even get into that. First off, many folks are asking...
1. "Is it still even worthwhile to do Image Search SEO?"
You might recall that in years past, when you clicked on an image in Google Image Search, you would go to the website or the webpage that had that image on it. Now, if you click it, Google opens up a full-sized version of that, tells you the website it's on. But for many people, that's enough. They do a bunch of searches and never actually visit your website. Google is just serving up your image unbeknownst to you, and you don't even get any data on that. So you don't know how many impressions it gets, all that kind of stuff. So here's the case for Image Search SEO.
Visually sold products and services - We've talked to many people who are contractors or decorators, remodelers, hotel owners or hoteliers, craft sellers, and they find that image search is something that people do as research before they choose them. In fact, you might see actual searches for "kitchen remodel Seattle," and then people will base their decision of who to go with based on the images that pop up there, they'll visit that website.
Anything that's designed to earn links and citations - So if you're producing graphs or data, or you're taking photos of events or of people, and you're hoping that those people or other folks will go and use your images and then link back to you, you definitely want to do Image Search SEO. That can get you in front of that right audience. When they use your image in their presentation or their publication or their website, you get the link.
Visual content licensers - Very obviously, they make their living selling images. Google Image Search is a great way to get in there. So if you're a photographer or an illustrator or a stock gallery, you certainly would want to be doing that as well.
*A couple of data points:
One comes from Jumpshot, whose U.S. dataset is fairly sizeable, in the millions of searchers. They see that about a third of all the searches performed on Google are performed in Google Image Search, which is just mind-bogglingly crazy, like huge. I never realized how big Google Image Search was until I saw that Jumpshot data. It's just massive. MozCast shows us that about 12.5% of all Google searches in the web results do show an Image Pack somewhere in there.
2. Do you have to use original visuals?
Or can you, for example, license visual content from other folks? Can you buy a stock image and put that on your site and potentially still rank for it in Google Images? The answer is, actually, yes.
So unlike web results, duplicates are not viewed as a problem. Google Image Search will generally take one version of an image, and that'll rank higher than the others. But it's not always the original. In fact, many times it's not the original source. It's a page that does a really good job of Image Search SEO. So this is a great opportunity for SEOs to get some extra traffic.
Just make sure that you have the right permissions.
3. How do you figure out if image SEO is actually something you should be doing?
Well, for any given keyword, for example, I searched for "Santa Fe architecture" here, and there's a result, I think at the top. Maybe it's an ad result. Then there's the image block with a few photos in there. Google is only going to show that image block if and when the searchers are actually clicking over to images very frequently, or there are lots of searches directly on Google Images for that term. So Google itself can sort of be that indicator for you of whether there's demand.
What are the rankings elements for Google images + image packs?
Now, if you are curious about doing this image SEO and you've decided, "Okay, this probably makes sense. I should try it out. I should do some. I've got some uses cases," my strong suggestion would be that you look at all the ranking factors. They're actually quite broad, but they're not nearly as complicated. Or they're a little more basic than we're used to with web results. I think that is because, when it comes to images, Google is mostly hyper-concerned with relevance and serving the user's interest, rather than link popularity. They don't worry as much nearly about spamming and manipulation in those results. So you can see them using a sort of more old-school style algorithm.
So here's a page with some pictures of Santa Fe on it, and things that Google might use are:
A. The image file name
B. The alt attribute on the image. Another very important reason to add alt attributes, in addition to accessibility reasons, is for Image Search SEO. It does seem to help a little bit, maybe, with web results SEO too.
C. The image caption. So this is something where we've actually seen the caption be more important than the alt attribute when it comes to Image Search. So if you put that little caption down below, underneath your image, that can actually help with the Image Search rankings.
D. Surrounding text content. So Google is going to look at this text above and below and around the images to see if it has relevance.
E. The page title, of course.
F. The page URL that it's hosted on. This is one of the reasons, by the way, that galleries of images, especially inside stock photo galleries, don't tend to do very well, because there's very little sort of relevant content surrounding them. They tend to be in these big, gallery-style layouts. So there are tons of images all in one page, when what Google is looking for is just one or two that are hyper-relevant to the particular topic, which is why most of the images you see doing really well in Google Image Search are the ones that live, not by themselves necessarily, but are the premier image on that particular page.
G. Image engagement and popularity. This is a big one. We have seen results where folks have done tests. They've shown that if you do a search on Google Images and you click the 12th image down and a lot of people start doing that, Google will move it up, just like in the web results, but sometimes even more so with images. We think engagement and popularity, what people scroll to, what they click on, what they click through to, matters quite a bit. That's why you should have a very high-quality, highly interesting, highly relevant image, as well as you also want to serve visitor demand.
H. The image dimensions matter. So if you do a Google Image Search, you will notice that they don't show, or they rarely show, unusual image dimensions. So an image like this, which is very, very horizontal and not very vertical, probably wouldn't do well. Just as a very vertical, not very horizontal one. They tend to look for sort of 16 by 9, 4 by 3, square images, and sometimes turned on their side so vertically it can work, as well. But anything much more than that and you get into problems.
I. Image size. So Google is generally not looking for very small images. They also tend not to show gigantic ones, although they sometimes will scale it down. If you do searches for anything plus "wallpaper," Google knows that the intent is for very large sizes, and so they will show that.
J. Embeds of the image. So if your visual appears on many different websites and pages, and it's been embedded multiple times, that seems to have a positive impact.
K. Traditional web ranking factors on the existing URL. So if this page, http://ift.tt/2pEAl0B, happened to rank well, in the top five or six or seven for "Santa Fe architecture," chances are good that images from that page would also rank in the first few images results. The reverse isn't always true. But if you can get the ranking in web results, you can generally do well in the image results as well. Why wouldn't you want to? Because you can get traffic from both.
L. Google seems to finally have gotten to the point where they have some sophistication, and they're doing a little bit of image relevance and visual match in here too. So if you have a picture of a koala, as adorable as that might be, even if you have every other factor in here, they probably won't show you for "Santa Fe architecture," at least not for long.
What steps should I take with image SEO?
Well, just a few. I want you to...
1. Determine your SEO goals, and then I want you to compare those SEO goals against your keyword research list.
2. Audit of your keyword research list for image visibility. Keyword Explorer is actually really awesome for this. I think there are probably some other tools that do it, but right now Keyword Explorer is one of the best. You can also do it in Moz Pro. You basically plug in all your keywords, you go to your list page, and you see what number of results actually have image blocks like this in them. That will tell you what kind of opportunity you've got.
If you decide that you're going to do any image SEO at all and it matches with your goals, you're then going to...
3. Create a set of guidelines for content creators/publishers on your site. I want these guidelines basically to be for anyone who's creating content on the site, if you are putting an image in, just do these three or four things.
Make sure you've got the caption right. Make sure you do the image alt attribute. Make sure that the size and dimensions are right, and you do some image optimization so it loads quickly on mobile, those kinds of things.
4. Create a target list of image SEO opportunities to pursue. So these would be like the 5 or 10, or if you're bigger, maybe 50 keywords that you know have image blocks in them, or that you know get lots of image searches, and therefore you're trying to target them. You can then go actually create the priority of, "Hey, we need a visual for this. Hey, we need to put it on a page, and we need to nail these things."
5. Audit your existing images on your site for SEO and UX optimization (size, speed compression, etc.)
Probably, there's a bunch of low-hanging fruit that you're missing out on. My recommendation, check out Ryan Ayres' "How to Perform an Image Optimization Audit" from last year on Moz's website. Really good post, walks you through how to use Screaming Frog to do this and how to optimize all those visuals.
Thanks for sticking with me through all this dense information on image SEO. I hope you rock the image rankings, and we'll see you again next week for another edition of Whiteboard Friday. Take care.
