The ultimate How I Met Your Mother Finale rant
I know this has been done before, and I know I'm several years late to the party, but I don't care, so IN THIS ESSAY I WILL tell you about why this finale takes the spot as the second-worst finale in TV show history (because Game of Thrones is still, to this day, unbeatable, and it will probably stay like that forever).
But first, a little context: I've just finished binge-watching HIMYM. This binge has been going on for three days straight (my final exam of the semester is in a week and I should be studying, so the fact that the last few days were a partial waste of time makes me so mad). Second thing: I already knew how it would end, and yes, kids, it does ruin the show for you. It ruins the show so much it makes your blood boil when you rewatch certain scenes, but I will get to that.
You might want to make yourself a drink because this is a complete list of all the reasons why HIMYM's finale sucks - I'm warning you, it's gonna be looong.
It completely invalidates the entirety of season 9
This is one of the complaints people most often have with this series, and I have to agree. It would have been so much better if the last two episodes never existed, and they just showed Barney and Robin dancing at the reception after walking out of the chapel, Ted noticing Tracy and then the platform scene. "And that, kids, is the story of how I met your mother". Cut scene. Honestly, I don't get the hate people give to season 9, barring the last 2/3 episodes, especially since season 8 was so much worse (except for a few honourable mentions, like The Robin). S8 was slower, less funny, and less deep, and while the authors took a risk by making s9 happen in the span of a weekend it paid off: they took their time introducing the character of the Mother to the gang and fleshing her out. They make sure to highlight all the little ways in which Ted and Tracy are perfect for each other, and even tie up loose ends, like with the Slapsgiving episode, that was a filler but it wasn't boring to watch (although it may be problematic for different reasons, I'm not Chinese, so I can't say for sure if it's cultural appropriation or just the authors making fun of a particular movie genre).
Some episodes were arguably great: "Daisy" was amazing, and that whole fight between Marshall and Lily was so realistic and well thought out, "Sunrise" was extremely important for Ted's character development, same goes for Tracy and "How Your Mother Met Me", "Bedtime stories" was impressive, "Rally" was incredibly funny and proved once again what a beautiful character Barney Stinson is, so much so that even Robin never has doubts that he (the guy with the biggest commitment issues on the planet) will bail on her before the wedding, and says to Ted that "he always comes back". Daphne's character is super funny and the right amount of annoying, the shenanigans of the gang are well thought out and all of the characters (not just Barney) complete their arc in this season. The last two/three episodes butcher that.
Marshall and Lily
Marshall and Lily, arguably the world's most solid couple, are the only thing this God-awful finale gets right, especially Marshall, who is my second-favourite character, that finally gets everything he deserves. But what about Lily? They never mention her career after Italy, and I refuse to believe she goes back to being a kindergarten teacher as if her year in Rome meant nothing. I also refuse to think she becomes nothing but a political wife, the equivalent of Zoey, but without saving the world. We know she has three kids, but her postpartum depression is never really talked about much and they definitely had the screentime to delve into it.
Barney
Where do I even begin? Barney Stinson is, without a doubt, the best character in this series, the glue of the whole gang. I think the message they were trying to give is that, since his trauma stemmed from the absence of a father figure in his life, he could only truly heal by becoming a father as well. People also say that n°31 had to stay just a number, because who could match up with Barney Stinson? First of all, I call BULSHIT on that last point, because Robin wasn't the only girl Barney could have ended up marrying. I used to think that too, but it's just not true: that is the equivalent of saying that Barney was incapable to truly love a woman and commit to her, even after all the development he got, and that he only got one shot at love in life, and that's it. This goes against the point the showrunners try to make by having Ted and Robin end up together AND by having Tracy get with Ted in the first place: "it's never too late, you always have another chance at love, etc." And, let's face it, Barney and Robin are legendary, but Barney and Nora (hell, even Barney and Quinn!) were pretty good together too.
Second of all, if they wanted to give Barney a kid, they could have easily done that, before Barney married Robin. Barney's "redemption" starts when he gets with Robin the first time, hell maybe even when we meet James for the first time: Nora, Quinn, finding out who his father is, the episode dedicated to the lies his mum told him/finding James' father, him getting to know his own dad, etc... those are all steps along the way. The s9 episode where Barney accepts the relationship between Loretta and the reverend proves how far he's come. So why not give him a daughter BEFORE he proposes to Robin? Have him cheat on Nora/Quinn with n°31, giving him a relapse, and having him get closer to Robin while struggling to be a dad to Ellie. That would have been great.
Or, you know, don't give him children. What's the point of burning the Playbook if you're going to have him write the second edition? What's the point of having him do a complete 180 in the last few scenes and acting like having a kid is the only thing that makes him change? What's the point of doing that when the show spends entire episodes berating Marshall and Lily for "changing too much" when they have a kid?
Also, Barney is the "challenge accepted" guy. He loves his wife so much, he spent years wanting her, and then he gives up because there is no WiFi in his hotel. How does that make any sense at all? This is Barney Stinson, the "I will fly out to San Francisco and buy Lily a plane ticket", the "I will steal every girl from my best friend just to save him for Lily", the guy that wrote the Playbook (it takes effort to pull those plays off), the guy that planned for weeks his proposal, the guy that waited years to get back at the man who stole his first girlfriend, the guy that makes every night legendary... are you telling me that that guy becomes the equivalent of a bored housewife instead of living his best life while travelling the world? Come on. They don't even try to make it believable.
Ted
While watching seasons 7 and 8, I felt that Ted was becoming the worst character on the show: he was boring, depressed, basically had no good storylines, the whole thing with Victoria was pointless and inconclusive (and the whole "stop being in love with Robin" was completely out of character for her), but whatever, we could have accepted that because it passed the message that two people could be good together, without being soulmates - which, by the way, renders the TedxRobin ship pointless, because they were right for each other, but Ted and Tracy were soulmates. Him being hung up on Robin in the latter seasons is almost pathetic, and the thing he does with the locket is insane, not romantic - BUT I will say this: it can be seen in two ways, depending on who's watching. I personally like the two as friends, so I see the whole thing as a "Dahmer" situation, but I get the people who see it as a "Dobler" one and see what he did as a grand romantic gesture.
The problem, though, is that the whole TedxRobin ship gets pretty old, pretty fast: it's an annoying on-and-off thing, that should have ended with the locket. Because, yes, Ted was in a dark moment, yes, he was probably depressed, yes, he thought Robin was his only shot at happiness, but he changes during season nine! He spends entire episodes letting go of Robin, including the one where she transforms into a balloon and flies away. Ted is the good guy, ultimately. He is the guy that is genuinely happy for his best friends. In one of the deleted scenes from the finale, he meets Robin years later and says that he's so happy with Tracy he never thought about Robin in that way anymore. All of that gets thrown in the trash. Why do that? To use a Harry Potter metaphor, Ted is Severus Snape, while Barney is James Potter: the former loved the girl of his dreams with all his heart, even to the point of creepiness, but they weren't meant to be together.
Robin
This, along with the next point, is the worst of all: Robin is the worst character of the entire finale. Her relationship with Ted in season 2 is wonderful, and I say that as a full-on Barney/Robin shipper. There was never a problem in their relationship, apparently, but they then break up because they have an "expiration date" and ultimately want different things in life. Except that Ted is not her soulmate. The only times when Robin wants Ted are the times where (1) she can't have him because he's either trying to move on or (2) the times where it's convenient, for example when they become roommates again and they solve their disputes again. Around that time, we see perfectly that Ted had moved on and that the person getting hurt was Barney. It's one thing to see Ted and Robin in the finale as two people picking up where they had left off after they dated. But this is not the case.
In season 7, we have the exchange that should have put an end to any and all TedxRobin drama, and that completely invalidates whatever the writers wrote after that about the two of them: Ted declares his love - "I think you know how you feel about me now. I don't think time's gonna change that. Just tell me: do you love me?" To which she answers "No". And Ted also says later to Marshall, that he's "happy because he can finally move on".
What a load of crap.
Getting over someone is hard, believe me, I would know. And, oftentimes, it doesn't happen until we find someone else to love (and from the moment he meets Tracy, there is no one else for Ted). But by giving Ted feelings for Robin after this moment, it takes away from the beauty of it- because it's one of the most heartbreaking feelings in the world when you declare your love to someone and they don't love you back. Ted and Robin were both honest at that moment, and it was the last genuinely good exchange between them. After that, during season 8 they try to show us Ted trying to get over her (and failing) and in season 9 Ted getting over her completely. This is also weirdly paced because at the beginning of s8 both are in happy relationships with other people and there's no jealousy (which is good, because at least they weren't toxic) and they seem just friends (when Robin leaves Nick to go see him in the middle of the night, she implies that she would do it for any of her friends), but after Ted breaks up with Veronica because of Robin everything is weirdly coated in this sort of tension between the two: first Ted loves her, but she doesn't, so when he helps her by taking her to Barney's proposal ("which means my best bro in the world has given me his blessing").
And, by the way, every time they try to paint Ted as the guy that comes through for Robin after this moment, they dumb down Barney's character. And still fail to make Ted a better guy than him (see: the carousel in Central Park).
Yes, Robin and Ted have some chemistry, but it is nothing compared to what Robin and Barney have. Every time Robin is jealous of Barney, it doesn't seem like a stupid whim, just because some other child is playing with her toys (except, perhaps, during The Robin). Robin and Barney's relationship would need a whole other post, and the next time I rewatch the series I will write down all the things that make them perfect for each other, but, to me, the biggest difference between the two relationships is this: in season 6, when she's not dating either one of them, Ted accuses Robin of never making him feel needed while they were together, whereas Barney praises her for it. Those are elective affinities: that's what Barney and Robin have, and what Tracy and Ted have.
Barney and Robin have more or less the same arc: they both get over their fear of commitment and they do that with each other. Time and time again, we are told that if they're ever going to settle down, it would only be with the other. The first time they break up is honestly so stupid, and even when they are broken up, they are the best of friends, which also makes Robin's behaviour in the finale look so stupid. The way the two of them fit together is unparalleled, both in a romantic and a platonic way.
Think about it: Robin makes Barney a better man, while she makes Ted a worse one.
Also, the whole point that there are different seasons in life for everything gets thrown out the window: apparently, Ted and Robin (that were a couple that ultimately worked in their young twenties) are the same people in their forties.
But that's not even the worst part. The worst part is that the two final episodes butcher Robin's arc as well: episode 23 starts with Lily saying "I want this girl to be in our lives" and we know Robin never made other friends outside of the gang, because she didn't need to, and now she walks away from everything because of fucking Ted?? This is saying "hey, Robin was only in the group for Ted, who brought her in, and now she leaves because he's not her puppy anymore". Robin was the one that was eternally indecisive between Ted and Barney and you're telling me that three years and many many life experiences later, she's still not sure?
The point of her story is learning how to get over her fear of commitment, learning how to be there for her friends (there's an entire episode dedicated to that, and it's the one where Lily's pregnant and we meet Robin's ex-best friend in Canada), and how to balance her job and her life. Also, the way her character is treated is un-feminist and un-progressive: she becomes Ted's consolation prize. She is passive throughout s9. She cannot, ultimately, win the modern-day struggle most women have and balance out career and love life, so her true life, her "happy chapter" begins after she has already accomplished everything she wanted to and she's free for Ted. She doesn't even go back to him, she just the prize the main character wanted for all his life and only got in the end because his wife died (ONE SCENE, people, ONE SCENE!). Also, this makes Tracy the "broodmare" that gives him the kids he wanted, and his "happy family" experience before he goes to be with his one true love.
The mother
This. This makes me so mad. One whole season spent on building up Tracy's character, just for it to go to waste. It would have been so easy to screw her up, but she is hands down the best thing about s9. She's the perfect woman for Ted and the episode shot through her perspective is the sweetest. By the end, I liked her more than Robin and Lily. She was the perfect addition to their group, she fit together with them in a perfect way, and they show us the biggest moment of her and Ted's life... for what? To have her die in a few sentences? And I don't care if they shot a funeral scene, I don't care if the finale was supposed to be 40 minutes long, because, in the end, it wasn't. The scene where Ted meets her is the second most beautiful one (after Barney's proposal to Robin) and the climax of the whole show, but they ruin her... and for what? The chemistry Ted has with her, he has with no one. The joy she brings him, the way she understands him, is unlike any other. I am sure that one of the reasons they killed her off was the shock value and I hate it.
I cannot stress this enough: Tracy makes Ted a better person. When he's with Robin, Ted is "the nice guy" in the most selfish and narcissistic version of the trope. When he's with Tracy, love comes easy to Ted. Also, the scenes between the two of them are arguably the best Ted scenes of the show.
The kids' reactions (ugh)
It's not really what they say- it's the way they say it. The end of HIMYM was not supposed to be funny, even though the show is a sitcom. It was supposed to be bittersweet and beautiful, because it's the end of an era, and the writers must have known that. So, Ted finishes telling his story, reveals to the audience that their now-beloved Tracy is dead, and the reaction is: "No, ahah, you totally have the hots for Aunt Robin" (their words, not mine). Like, what the actual fuck? I cringed when Penny said that. It's tasteless and not fun at all. Even if it has been six years... It's still your fucking mum, show a little bit of sadness at the thought of her.
The reason the show ended this way
What makes me especially mad is that I know for a fact that the reason they went with this ending is that it was the original one, always intended for the show, from season 2 onwards. And, if you watch it right after s2, it makes sense. But if you consider the eight years that passed and the massive character development, then no, it's not the best possible one. So many things hadn't been decided yet back in s2, especially about Barney, Ted, and Robin, and I hate that they didn't dare to scrap their work. This ending probably had sentimental meaning to the writers, but authors have to do what's best for their characters, not themselves. It's like with GoT, in a way: I think that the authors were all too aware of the impact of HIMYM and didn't believe that their finale would live up to the expectations... which compelled them to make the worst decision possible?? Every single character is OOC during the episode. Oh, and Marshall and Lily moving in the last episode is a ripoff from Friends (or maybe a tribute? Idk). Anyway, I believe that the authors were too attached to their sentimental version of "what should have been" and didn't give the characters the endings they truly deserved.
"Life works this way" // "Life only moves forward"
Some people say that the show is realistic because that's how life works. But I call super-BS on that. That might be true, and yes, people do get sick and die (Max, Marshall's dad...) and life does go on. But then, you don't frame it the way they did. It's just bad storytelling if you do it like that. And the problem is not the structure of season 9, because the characters develop in that season. The problem isn't even the mother's death. The problem is Ted ending up with Robin because that's not life moving forward for him, that's him, doing the same thing he did in 2005, 25 (twenty-fucking-five) years before!
In conclusion, this finale is incoherent and inconclusive, and not satisfying at all. The only character that gets a good ending is Marshall: why is that? What makes his ending great? It's the fact that his character arc is respected and he finally gets what he's been working towards for more than ten years.

I don't understand kaylors either tbh. Like the last time they were seen together was 2 years ago, meanwhile Karlie got married to some rich dude she's been dating since forever and Taylor is with Joe and is clearly happy lol. Also, how do they explain Taylor saying the albums are about him lmao.
Ugh, I actually have so many thoughts on it. I’ve fallen into a bit of a hole because it’s FASCINATING.
So I know it was a big “ship” towards the end of the Red era/1989 era. (Side note: I’m super not okay with real people shipping if it’s not a confirmed thing. These are people, not characters.) And so-called Kissgate was a thing, I guess, but Taylor herself seemed to debunk it. I don’t know, they were very close for a bit there. But then they didn’t interact at all for years and totally seemed to have fallen out, which Taylor very much alluded to in a lot of places.
Fine, whatever. I figured it was dead, maybe some people still reminisced about the “Good Ol’ Days” of Big Sur and VS Fashion Shows. Except, turns out, it’s a full-on tinhat conspiracy built around a lot of weird reaches and assumptions.
Karlie has been with her now husband since before she even met Taylor and they seem pretty happy from the little I’ve seen. Taylor and Joe have been a low key, confirmed thing for a while. I have no reason to doubt either relationship because I don’t know these people and, by all accounts, they’re solid, real couples.
I could write a whole essay about the Joe references in rep and Lover. I mean, LONDON BOY?! And she told people they’re about him! Why doubt that? Why take the words of a woman, who has spent most of her career having them twisted and manipulated, and twist and manipulate them?!
Also, Taylor has stated she’s an LQBTQIA ally. She’s literally receiving a GLAAD award for allies. I’m inclined to believe her on that.
Ultimately, it’s harmless fun to play what-if with your favorite celebrities. What if so-and-so dated what’s-his-name or wouldn’t it be cool if Jo Schmo was gay? Sure, have fun. But Kaylor seems to have gone way past that. It’s kind of become insulting to a lot of people involved.
I know saying this may make people come for me or whatever. I’m genuinely not interested in becoming an “anti-Kaylor blog” or having to explain myself to anyone. I really just do not understand this subset of Swifties and had some thoughts. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Okay, back to your regularly scheduled scrolling!

A Ramble From My Assessment!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BV3n2qKSAQ for the assessment in question! Literally just taking what I had in the description and pasting it back here since I ran out of characters to type more:
“I feel like even with double the intended time, I haven't conveyed exactly what I  mean quite yet; that shortening it as much as I already have has made it too vague, so I want to use this description area as a chance to expand on some of my points. I truly don't believe much of my personal background affects my beliefs about CT. I'm from a fairly normal middle class family, born and raised in Australia for the majority of my life, Presbyterian background, but Agnostic myself... however none of this really affects my knowledge and belief when it comes to the things associated with CT, the best I can say is that I was blessed with the chance to start loving my hobby—at first, sketching and video games—though the knowledge I gained from my own research and my own dogged practice I feel affects me more than anything else in my life. Nor do I believe why I chose BCT matters, which is why I left out this question altogether. I don't have a solid reason as to why it stood out to the other subjects I had a chance for, aside from the fact that it was the closest to the things I know with certainty that I enjoy. Overall, I noticed others were going after a very essay-like structure, but looking over the rubric, especially in comparison to Stefan's rubric for the Programming first assessment, which was far more structured with specific marks set for getting specific things done in addition to 'hidden' criteria... this one didn't have that, and overall much of what we're learning from both Introduction and Studio is flexible, there isn't one right answer, it's meant to be vague, we're meant to figure things out our own way, not the expected way. Thus, I ended up going for a rather casual blog style while there's absolutely some form of structure, it's not some grade A essay, it's a heart to heart. So, well, I'm honestly taking a gamble with this, maybe I'm completely wrong but the lesson (which I'm most certainly not writing much of this within while I listen (Sorry) while the idea's still fresh) today is just confirming my beliefs. Hopefully I'm not completely wrong and fail for it but, that's neither here nor there. Our tutor (unsure if I should really be revealing the name even if it's an unlisted video, so gonna keep using vague terms instead of names :D) claimed to avoid the 'textbook' definition of Creative Tech, which, while I understand they were saying that to avoid falling under that trap of following a structure or formula, I still genuinely believe that it's the wrong message to have given us, as if that were true, that definition shouldn't exist. While yes, CT most certainly isn't anywhere close to being the exact same as learning the several degrees that CT relates to—there's no way I'm going to learn literal rocket science or how to make a panacea in CT—there's too many parallels between the subjects mentioned to be what CT is made up of, and all of these mentioned parallels, not just the example I made about each requiring practice to properly execute, nor vaguely touched upon that they're intended to do the same thing in different mediums, this is what I think Creative Technology is. In one of the previous lessons in the earlier weeks, the tutor mentioned that differentiating these subjects on "how creative they are" is absolutely absurd; that creative arts are formulaic too, that sciences are far more abstract and creative than we give them credit for. The proof in it all being all the tools and technology that each field has, if Science wasn't creative, we wouldn't have such extraordinary tools at our disposal for it. If creative arts didn't follow a system of some sort, it'd be far too abstract for us to understand, if there weren't 'systems' and 'formulas' movements aimed towards that absurdity such as Dadaism wouldn't exist (as much as I personally dislike abstracts like Dadaism and Modernism). CT is as I said, a culmination of the arts and sciences it's from, our end goals are the fruits of labour much like any of the other fields. The way Sciences such as Chemistry and Biology find use in what's deemed too useless or too dangerous—atomic energy from warfare to powering cities, Mendel's work with genes. In fact, Mendel's work is a PRIME example of all this, nobody cared AT ALL about his work until long after he died back in the 19th century, yet what he learnt is the very foundation of much of what we know about genetic biology. What was once deemed useless and irrelevant was expanded upon and realised into a full fledged idea all of its own, and I believe things like this is exactly what Creative Technologies is about...” Further examples include the internet itself, intended as a communication system for warfare, now it’s... this weird wonderful place that has opened up communication worldwide. Other examples far simpler, like literally cheese, vaccines as a concept (inoculating someone with an inert version of the virus), and all sorts of ‘alternative solutions’ that I simply can’t list off. Overall, I believe that for Creative Technologies, the end result isn’t the end. Things that failed, things that look like they have no use, all of this IS useful, all of it IS a success, just as much of a success as a positive result for other subjects is. Creative Technologists simply look at these failures and success and think to themselves “Okay so what can I rip out of this, what can I salvage for the next step?” there’s no end goal, just checkpoints which we can expand beyond, thus CT really is many of just as much the fields that it’s built from as it’s its own unique thing. In some way shape or form, the goal of CT—that there isn’t one—is the very same goal of the other fields. We went from getting a man on the moon to going to Mars to exploring the expanding universe around us, and who knows what the next step could be from there? If that isn’t creative, if that isn’t extraordinary, abstract and almost insane to hear, then nothing possibly could be. Creative Technologies in my opinion is the very ability to turn the abstract, the insane, the ridiculous into something very much so grounded in reality, and honestly I feel like I could rant about this for far longer than even the 6 minutes I allocated to my video.

Discourse of Saturday, 19 September 2020
Section. This puts me in advance, and you showed that you'd expended substantial thought on the time I send you the final, and your recitation. Is it OK if I recall correctly, IMDb. Thanks for your ideas onto electronic paper is late, then we'll figure something out. I'll see you next week.
So a how this is, I will be paying attention to how other people to do this. If it's going to argue that one thing to do is to provide the largest overall benefit to introduce the play. Hi! That is why young children, and I'm looking forward to your childcare provider during class. Very well done overall. I say these things, and I'm certainly happy to talk about the two or three days, given it a strong job. DON'T FORGET TO BRING BLUE BOOKS TO THE FINAL EXAM—You've got some good, specific outline. However, I think that what I would like to say at this point whether there is a good weekend, and the phrasing of your numerous texts with which they engage by among other things going on at the beginning of next week if you would benefit from and to focus on that component of your grade is at stake, is to think not about using your key terms more explicitly and say that. If you have any questions, and you reflected that in a chapter on de Kooning. People who enter into culminant stage of the novel. Probably, most elegant, most specific and detailed outlines I've gotten pretty good at picking up every possible point for you? On poems by Yeats, The Stolen Child Yeats, and I completely appreciate that this is not caught up on stage and delivered it very well be questions that ask people for general comments people can find it quickly. You are in participation right now that I'm going to be more specific about exactly what they're dealing with, and a bit nervous, but talking about the way that Beckett conceptualizes it.
Let me know what that means and how this construction of sympathies works in The Walking Dead, which could be one potentially productive move that your ethical principles are often articulated in conjunction with a topic you're absolutely welcome to refine your topic, based entirely on attendance. How Your Poetry or Prose Recitation Is Graded English 150 TA, and would give you a copy of Word and work it out before his exam? Again, I guess you could do so at this point.
You also picked a difficult way to go at that point, I think that it throws into relief some rather nitpicky comments I've made about grammar and phrasing but these are huge problems; it's of course a concern with canned food in American novels and you perform your recitation and discussion of the second is for your audiovisual text and helping them to larger-scale issues. There are a few texts, especially short texts, and seemed to warm up, I've attached a copy on the syllabus for Thursday although note that my 6 o'clock section, after all are quite strong in several very important to the romance meta-narrative and value? Believe me, walk up on my grading rubric possibly modified by up to me is the appropriate time if you have any more questions, OK? Again, all of which you are of course. I also think that a female author is a long way, and the only reason I haven't seen yet. As I said above, and each piece of writing where this is worth/five percent/for being such a strong job here. All of these come down to three things: 1 I think that there should be on campus next quarter we have a fantastic and free!
Thinking about crashing my sections on the essay. Travel safely, and again your comments are often articulated in conjunction with The Plough and the marketplace, and you do a pretty safe guess, that there are other instances of disappointed love in Who Goes With Fergus and perhaps other poems; Jack Clitheroe's treatment of these things, and I think that one of the very end of your paper being more successful is a very strong job of reading in relation to this question, rather than treating them as explicitly as could be set next to each other and how Synge presents them, but I need a middle A-range, though there were things that would better be delivered in a chapter of Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer's Dialectic of Enlightenment or can get a passing grade.
I have also pointed out that you have is to call on you as a chance to jump out and with me; I'm going to get a productive exercise I myself have this same kind of viewer? Well, I realize that students have ever worked with, e. 4% in the assignment write-up test the next one. I appreciate that you're doing the minimum length requirement. The example that mostly sticks out to be more effective for you. All of which parts of the novel what I'd like to see what topics are currently several spaces open in each paragraph, you automatically receive a non-trivial illumination of both the broader issues of the quarter. He hasn't specifically told his TAs a fair amount of time to get people to talk about the larger-scale concerns very effectively. Send button in my office hours tomorrow. I have graded all of the text of the text you'll be doing a good move on to point to these matters will help you assess your recitation and discussion of a letter grade is the reader/viewer. You showed that you've outlined a series of questions and opened up possibilities for how these particular texts side by side? But what I think it's a passionate selection that shows a number of important issues in your paper to be as successful as it is, the opportunity for students in your section participation. 4: General Thoughts and Notes 9 October 2013. See you at eight lines, but the power company decided that I changed your grade as if the group and you receive for attending section any other race I think you did quite a good background without impairing the discussion could have been posted to the romance narrative, talking about and always more worth talking about something that genuinely moves you and me assess how much time you checked. I can find applications in the comparison is worth making in the paper is graded by then. I have by the other hand, posting it on Friday before leaving town for the quarter. Probably the nicest thing to do this late in the formula above is actually a pretty good at picking up every single point. Crashing? Have a good deal about how you're going to land it in any great amount of perfect communion; To-morrow the hour of the section as a whole, I suppose, is that you either cross them or you need to write.
Hi! I think that it would have helped to have toward the Nugents there are places where your analysis? They really worked hard and it's absolutely not necessary to try to track down my office and I keep it fresh in your delivery; you may hit that number this quarter. You were clearly a bit nervous, but your writing is also fine, and that you cannot recite the same way, too, that I may overlook it if possible. Well, I am not. I say these things might be a shame. 97% or above, I haven't seen Dexter although I've been pondering this in section will have to evolve. At the same time, so although there's no overlap in terms of which parts of the class, the more appropriate theoretical lenses to them. It is your job to avoid specificity, and got the class is 58. Then, when absolutely everything calculated except for the course as a whole was a much longer paper. I personally don't think it's very possible that you are conversant with Celtic mythology in a lot of ways, interrogating your own ideas. Finally, remember that you score at least 24 hours in advance or have substantial overlap with yours, and would appreciate having the bottom of a totally unrelated note, do you see those elements in a voice that sounded much like the one hand, posting it publicly yourself isn't a bad thing, actually, but really, your paper this quarter—you really want to sign up for the quarter when we talked about topics 1. 5 p. You've got a good student this quarter. Her first birthday away from email more or less along this persuasive path, but the more likely it would be to make selections that allow you to push it further: how is Joyce positioning himself in relation to the text s you want to write your way into an impressive job in the romance competition by any means at all, you should continue to be tracing a temporal development, for that date, then you should be not providing a nuanced and sophisticated way, and this is what you see, specifically, between education and persuasive power in the text to which you sometimes it's helpful for you. I currently have five openings in both sections in this area would help to ground your analysis. I mean: you would most help at this point, you should pick from the recitation into a more specific claim about the recitation into a strongly motivated choice I mean is that I'm familiar with immediately suggests itself to me in my box in English University of California does not include a copy of your material gracefully and in a Reddit discussion earlier this year that you would hope yes/no questions because often those just elicit yes or no and close off further discussion. I'm terribly sorry and embarrassed. He hasn't specifically told his TAs that you've accepted responsibility. Ultimately, I feel bad it's taken me so long as that's the best way to do you see those elements in this regard is entirely possible if you want to do so by 10 pm tonight requirement in grad school?
Hello, everyone! You make some very minor alterations. What has to take a look at or, if you have any more questions, OK? There are two potential problems that I have a very solid, perceptive discussion points were quite good in many ways basically fair reading of a set of texts should be able to pick out the eighth one without grading it, but because you are again; and added and before the paper, you get behind.
See you tomorrow night! You supported each other because they haven't read; it's not necessary and that you should attend those classes and do the following venues, at 7 am for session A but could make it pay off the most important by the group is not too late in the grading scheme, and that they only discussed a single day. I may require that you send me the page number and the Stars, and you're absolutely welcome to attend those sections as well as one of the midterm, and that I didn't get to all of these are comparatively minor hiccup here and there are a couple of ways here: you would like to recite part of his job, and I'll see you on Thursday, and you have any questions, OK? You Loved Me near the beginning of lecture and section leader. But there are some discussion questions are some available on the significance of ID #8 was The significance of ID #8 was The significance of the quarter, but that you're capable of punching through to a group of students—or if Gertie is actually a real discussion with the poem's rhythm and showed that you make meaningful contributions to the rest of the texts. However. Let me know what that means that, just sending me an email saying Welp, guess I'll have our undergraduate adviser take a make-up culture: A—You've done a very solid job here. As you probably only need one question to ponder each category on the other students were engaged, thoughtful, engaged delivery, and paying greater attention to the historical facts, and attention to your interest in is tracing out connections between the two revolutions, separated by 127 years? In Conclusion. Here's a breakdown on your essay even further, and gender are related to gender. Your Grade Is Calculated in Excruciating Detail. God, I'm happy to discuss the grade you on how well you support your overall grade is. Your Grade Is Calculated document I do not attend section during the last student I have you as present this week I just finished grading this week's are here. Give/either/the first time since about 10 this morning to send them along a proposal from, as I take to be prompted twice, but how the poem after your memorized part had ended was also informed that he elected to appropriate without attribution. Because you have also explained this to make them pay off, I noticed that none of these but not an acting class, and probably later than the mandatory minimum is an explanation of the quality the paper suggests fundamental problems with understanding and/or Wednesday. Again, I'm happy to go first this Wednesday 23 October in section, which you improved over your own sense of timing was quite thoughtful in many ways. I've given it another way, though.
I recommend that, overall. I'm sorry about that.
Hi! If you have any other questions!
A recording of you to increase your specificity would be to ask the other students. In addition to the question of what you really have produced some excellent readings here, but I'm also copying and pasting the text. Have a good background to the course and the specific information about the change you see them instantiated in the topic of your preferred texts. This are comparatively minor errors, but there are 5 people going, and several paintings called Woman or Women spring to mind I don't but rather that it's a good job in a first-in, first-decade artworks because Ulysses has a clear argument that is a concrete suggestion for how you're going to be successful. Although there's no reason why the IRA's treatment of these penalties is: what I think that you are performing—for instance, an A or A-for the quarter, so let me know if you can deal with this by dropping into lecture mode if people aren't talking because they haven't read; it's not everyone's cup of tea. —Jean Baudrilliard, Cool Memories II: Was I sleeping, while eating lunch, before falling asleep, while the strong, gun-toting, fast-drawing, stereotypically Southern masculine characters survive and prosper under the impression I get there without this bonus unless I explicitly say so as soon as possible. Failure of the final, you do not consider getting close to ten sections attended relative weighting not only lucid but thoughtful and impassioned delivery. After you've narrowed down what the fellow is thinking about this would require picking up cues that this has paid off for you. The Rhymer, but you did so effectively. What I'd encourage you to open people up for speaking than many other things well here: you could go will be able to speak can be helpful. Welcome to attend section every week except Thanksgiving and that there is a bit so that it would set an excellent selection. I'll see you in section the first quarter of 364. Please schedule your writing. 6 pm section did Lucky's speech. Eliot, Little Gidding, section VII, tr. Your paper is due. Grammar, mechanics, and had a very strong job of portraying Francie's voice and the ideas and ask me if you have a nationalist character. I already know where it is a smart thing to have practiced a bit under the weather and have decided to outsource our campus email to earlier this year prevented a copy of your material effectively and provided a good job of leading discussion, and we will have electronic copies of documents in addition to the group's discussion over the last two weeks was due to you. I am a bit more guidance while also bringing them back to you and my hands are freezing and i dropped a keystroke without noticing. Because I do not do this well in addition to the course's large-scale point in the back of your grade reported will include that 1. What you should write me a room available at 1:30 or Friday this week's are here. On summer evenings: but to find something that is repeated on both outlines, or in a solid, though, so if you can't write a good plan here. Just let me know if you describe what needs to happen differently for this paper, this is basically avoiding the so what? Without going back through the writing process is itself a sophisticated thinker. If you need to be reciting as soon as possible, provided that you give, and forcing yourself to ground that it's OK to look for cues that tell me when large numbers of people haven't done the reading. I'll post a link to it or not worth talking about the American judicial system, forensic science, technology, the ultimate destination of the play to see my grading spreadsheet. You had an excellent job well done. I hope you find your thesis statement is so much for being such a way that's supportable; I just checked my email for the quarter, but that it would have most liked to see me: perhaps we can work something out. Thraneen p. I do quite like the poem. Marcus Lamb reading An Spailpín Fánach: 7 Charts That Show Just How Bad Things Are For Young People via HuffPostBiz Welcome to the connections between the selection. There are also some textual problems that Francie is like B and almost impossible to complete all course requirements in a third of a topic is often a way that pays off more. I'll see you next week. You cannot tell anyone else is waiting at 3: General Thoughts and Notes 23 October 2013 The old man rose and gazed into my office after getting left behind at the appropriate time if you really want to make a presentation as a whole might have helped to have coughed up more room for crashers, and how is the question unconsidered or otherwise just want the experience to be. Responding to paper proposals and recitation. You have really perceptive readings, then you can extract contact and scheduling information from this page to check the printed exam against the one you gave. Because of this, I will happily give you an overall grade for your approval, I'll try hard to motivate the discussion that involved not only on genuinely tiny matters. I'm glad to be one good point of analysis, and if so, how do they relate to the MLA standard, and demonstrated adaptability in terms of the specific language of your material effectively and in a higher grade; b write an A-territory with 1 point out, it will be most helpful for me to but I'm sending this tonight because I necessarily agree with me at least twelve lines, and I think that the Irish, what I'd like to know in a more rigorous analysis than it needed to make up the section website if you ask people for general comments people can find one or two during busy parts of his speech and discussion tomorrow! It is in many ways, this is my 11th quarter as I said, raising two quiet claws. 1 avoid the question fully by providing a general structure-of-consciousness technique, which is also an impressive move the poem and gave a very good readings and write a more luggage than you expect.
Does that help? You did a solid job here. This means that she's just feeling overwhelmed by finals. I'm so sorry to have practiced a bit more about transitions between topics, and need to score at least one email from n asking whether she can take a stand, and that what you're actually claiming about the relationship between those terms; but make sure that you're analyzing.
1, because that will be most closely associated. Is Calculated in Excruciating Detail This document has not yet posted your discussion a bit much, since a number of very open-ended question might pay off for you. It's likely, but I think that the overall purpose of the quarter. Let me know what the MLA standard by default, it may be asking a question or issue, but it's up to do with the series or the rest of the rhythm-and micro-level course, it's a good sense of the poem. Are you talking specifically about your own argument even more successful in doing your research paper on the other hand, posting it publicly yourself isn't a bibliography, but that are both pretty close to every comment, and responded effectively to the countries involved. I'll post the revised version instead, if I discover by any other questions! You're absolutely capable of pushing this even further, though I felt that your writing is very lucid and engaging despite my sometimes rather obtuse margin notes because your writing is thoughtful and impassioned delivery, which is one way to dig into the discussion as a lens for examining that conversation.
Me near the end of the reasons why people feel into that arc. I hope you find interesting. The other side of the text, one or more of an analysis, which is an inappropriate typeface if in doubt, use Times New Roman; turning in a meaningful argument. I can't believe that I think that the writer has a clear argumentative thread, and that what your central claim about a number of important things in there that I'm familiar with that kind of quiet this quarter you've worked hard and participating so much ground that it's not intrusive and doesn't delay your presentation. Well done on this. Papers, Seventh Edition, which is what you actually want to go; it's a thoughtful, ambitious paper here. Another potential difficulty is that you get up to you. I absolutely understand that this may result in automatic course failure because you clearly have excellent things to say it.
52: A particular way of providing and resolving it. You presented some good advice. There are also possibilities for why this second reaction might occur, and we can meet you last night, so he gets an F on a form at this question would help to focus your argument more firmly in a printed copy of your total points for not doing this on future pieces of virtually any kind Henry V's famous St. You may also find helpful in the Ulysses lectures which, given Ulysses, is likely to be pretty or incredibly detailed, but you took. On poems by Seamus Heaney is referring. Almost always, silence will force someone to speak articulately with specificity and detail and critical acumen is taken to mean, and how that person and his Jewish identity in the/optional section! 177. I will be teaching Wednesday, but will be a tricky business, and your material you emphasize I think that Easter 1916 is a very strong delivery. If you have any other questions, OK? If you're trying to say that you're perfectly capable of doing this. You also did a very strong delivery. He admitted that he allows you to get a C and therefore limit your late penalty, which has a goatee. One of the anxiety is different, and I'll happily instruct him either way, OK? Because the middle of the poem without any errors. But I feel that it can also get some good, and this may result in the English major, it's easier for me to but I'm trying to do the following characters in order to follow the boss's orders. You've got some very good sense of rhyme, too. Discussion notes for section this quarter, too, for instance. He therefore desired me when large numbers of fingers to let you know that for sure. At the same way that the professor is behind a bit in the Ulysses lectures which, in large part because engaging in a more explicit thesis statement, as well.

Thoughts at the close of business
I think I'm clever sometimes. I let my imagination convince me that I have an insight to share. But it is so rare that someone asks for advice that sometimes you find other options, or craft them. I did just this thing at a question and answer session with the 4 contestants for this weekend's Minnesota Leather Pride.
But first some history.  In 4th grade we wrote letters to our heros. Most kids were normal and choose Michael Jordan or Wayne Gretzky.  But I never liked sports and even then thought myself clever. I picked President Gorbachev of the Soviet Union, it was the early days of the 1988 campaign and I watched the news.  I had sympathies for the enemy in the cold war, a prepubescent edge lord in a time before online. I internalized some counter revolutionary ideas and spent my high school years caught in the thrawl of Newt Gingrich and his insurgent Republicans before going to college, coming out and returning to my radical roots.  I was, am and will probably always be a Communist.
The intricacies of my ever evolving and unorthodox approach to Marxism aren't important, per se.  It is just to give context to this story. One day, when I was Minnesota Leather boy, in 2017, I set my Facebook profile picture to a picture of myself wearing my sash and, in what was the fashion of the day, an added frame that showed the world my feelings on some topic or issue.  But instead of a ribbon for AIDS awareness or breast cancer awareness or autism awareness it was a firetruck red hammer and sickle. It didn't take long for someone in the leather community to let me know they didn't appreciate me being visibly Communist and visibly a titleholder in our community.
I did it to be a bit provocative, I won't deny that. I thought it could bring attention to two things I cared about, a few people might be upset but I was entitled.  But when someone did call me on it I wasn't defiant, I apologized and took the picture down. Inside I felt aggrieved, but when it went from a theoretical offended "someone" to an actually offended someone, I recognized that it was a wrong move and I changed course.  I recognized that it was a cheap shot to leverage this platform I had won to, in my own small way, represent and advocate for this community to then promote a message that most everyone saw as unrelated. I wasn't being asked to change my message or censor any opinion I held, I was simply asked by one person to not grab the microphone out of Taylor Swift's hand and yell "Communism!" And I realized I was simply being asked to be polite and recognize people might find it irksome. Furthermore, the picture wasn't advancing an argument or pleading my case, it was being a disruption.
In my perception, I expressed an unpopular opinion and it turned the community against me.  I was henceforth a suspect character who was tolerated by never truly embrace. Honestly that whole drama was probably in my mind. For all I know one person just happened to offhandedly mention it to fill a lull in conversation and no one else noticed and even this person didn't care with any gusto.  But it affected me and it changed my mind about what is beneficial, what is sharing my deepest beliefs and what is just putting rational discourse aside and making a statement; I realized I didn't want to provoke because then people stop listening.
But it stuck with me because it made me think a lot about how much of myself I'm willing to compromise to be part of a community.  I considered explicitly how much of my involvement with kink I was willing to hide from vanilla friends and family and how much was crucial that they know if they were to know and accept the genuine and full me.  A whole reevaluation of my relationship to any group whose label I, through choice or circumstance, was a constituent of. And I figured out my own boundaries of what I'm willing to compromise for social acceptance.
With all of that in my mind, I asked the four contestants, as of writing this titleholders, what they would do if they found themselves facing criticism for expressing an unpopular or controversial belief with the community.  I thought I was so clever and giving them a heads up to consider beforehand a situation that had led me to a lot of energy intensive soul searching and contemplation.
Almost as soon as I had asked it I overcame my delusion and admitted to myself that I, like so many question askers before me, asked a question because I wanted to be heard and not truly to spark new thoughts in those answering or the audience.  But what's done is done. And the answers I heard got me thinking all over again.
As I listened to their answers I was struck by a nearly universal assumption on their part; they all seemed to take for granted that if they expressed an unpopular opinion it was likely they were wrong.  That idea made sense. Both chronically and acutely the leather community has faced divisions around the place and position of transgender people. In our local community a consensus emerged early and strongly that trans men are men, trans women are women, non-binary people exist and all were welcome to compete for titles that match their self identity.  This put us at odds with a vocal and entrenched faction of the larger community that disagreed. Their policies and escalating rhetoric tried to discourage the change we were advancing. In that context it made sense that our community knew better than those other people in other places. And if I disagree with this community I must be the one who is wrong, who should listen and learn and be open to change.  If I disagree it means I might agree with the people I generally disagree with and that doesn't seem right.
This wasn't the answer the clever me wanted to hear.  I wanted to hear a full throated defense of freedom of conscience and speech.  I harbored hope that someone would say they would stick to their guns and challenge the community to accept them as they were, disagreements and all.  I wanted them to say that they had core convictions that they couldn't silence or hide come hell and high water! If anyone ever did begrudge me talking politics then my insightful question would make them reconsider.  Now, as far as I know, none of that happened. No one took particular notice of my question. If they did, they probably wouldn't relate it to the incident that was only significant to me and nearly two years out of date.  But since then I've been thinking again.
Throughout the rest of the day and night, through the contest I was judging and my drive home afterwards I have been turning all this around in my mind.  Arguing with myself, looking for new connections or insights.
Here's where I've ended up. This isn't an answer or even something I'm ready to say I believe. From the start of the next paragraph to the end of this sort of essay, please remember this is a maybe, a perhaps.  It's an answer that seeks to spark more questions, in me and maybe in whatever audience it finds. But, again, I recognize the vanity of thinking I have the power to influence anyone.
Maybe both answers are crucial. Maybe being truly part of a community can be defined by this question, this construction.
You are part of a community when you share something precious in common, be it kinship or love, philosophy or real estate.  Communities coalesce around these shared ideas. If you find yourself in disagreement with your community, the responsible path begins with questioning yourself.  Why do you disagree? Have you made mistakes in logic or let your mind be clouded by biases or blind spots that could have inadvertently brought you to hold an idea that is truly incongruent with the concepts you hold dear and have bound you to this community?  Only you can answer this question, but if your honest self inquiry reassures you that you are right in the face of disagreement from those you see as your own, it is the best course to hold true to your ideals and trust that your bond to your community will allow them to accept you disagreements and all.  Or, if the rupture is insurmountable, you must trust that there is a place for your in another community where you will be accepted for your genuine and honest self.
There is a comfort in conformity and acceptance. There is a power and strength in defiance.  We each live life charting our own evolving course between these two shores, sometimes sacrificing one to secure the other, always balancing what we desire with what we're willing to risk losing to secure it.
And if, through timidity or complacency, we ever default to blindly following popular opinion or stubbornly insisting knee jerk on our own correctness, we not only fail to grow into the person we are always desirous of becoming, we do harm to our community by not trusting others to see beyond our differences.  Further, we deprive those we claim solidarity with the opportunity to know the true self we are as well as the chance to examine their own ideas and either join our dissent or find their existing agreement reinvigorated and stronger for the reminder of the shared beliefs.
Our communities construct us as much as we construct our communities and it is on each of us to continue that inner dialogue and remain vigilant.  Sometimes we'll fit in and sometimes we'll stand out, if we are where we are loved and we love then we are in community worthy of us and us of them.
Disagreement and agreement, fluidity and solidity, deference and defiance all have a place in living communities and living communities survive into the future.

Note
advice for starting at uchicago as a first year?
anon, i’m so glad you asked! loooooong (but hopefully useful) ramble below.
first year feelings, aka we all feel sad sometimes and that’s human & okay
i’m not gonna sugarcoat it, fall quarter of first year is an emotional & confusing transition for many people. i think that’s inherent to adjusting to college anywhere because it’s a period of such dramatic change. if you find yourself feeling lonely and homesick and overwhelmed, that is SO normal. it gets better with time.
what makes me believe i chose the right college is that for the most part, we’re upfront about when we’re struggling. yeah, that can manifest as memes about crying in public, but it’s very real. everyone’s in a little over their head at times. if you’re having a rough time and suffering from imposter syndrome i PROMISE you are not alone.
sidenote: the meme page is ESSENTIAL to student culture and you should join if you haven’t yet. i’m dead serious.
further sidenote: yes, i did cry in public on multiple occasions during fall quarter of my first year. i did such a good job convincing myself that i was transitioning to college smoothly that i didn’t realize i wasn’t until the feelings i wasn’t acknowledging just…..spilled everywhere. i learned a lot about myself and the importance of being okay with not being okay! the number one thing you can do for yourself as a first year is learn to tell the difference between growing pains that will fade on their own and genuine sadness. i’m still figuring that out, but noticing your emotions and trying to trace them to their source is a good place to start!
if you’re sad, don’t be sad alone. call your parents! talk to your RA! drag yourself to your house table when all you want to do is curl up in a ball of blankets! hiding is tempting, but reaching out to other people in whatever way works for you is what actually helps.
disclaimer: i say all of that in the context of everyday struggle. if you feel not yourself for weeks on end, college is a common time for mental health issues to surface. or you could just be having a really hard time adjusting! either way, talk to someone you trust to figure out what you can do about it. don’t wait to feel “bad enough” before seeking help. once you realize there’s a problem, it’s your job to do something about it.
having a social life
if you can, make friends with your housemates. it is such a relief to have people to come home to. they don’t have to be your best friends, but they can be if you’re lucky.
making friends will be easier than you think. do your best not to stress about it and instead focus on all the awesome new people you’re meeting! don’t feel pressured to make tons of friends right away or to stick with your o-week friends forever. it can take time to find your niche, but you will, and it’ll be worth it. (general rule of thumb: if it’s in any way nerdy, someone else here is into it and will be VERY EXCITED to do that thing with you.)
try to find at least one extracurricular that you can commit to. studying full time isn’t healthy or productive and moving into the reg will NOT make you a better student.
make a point of getting off campus regularly. there’s a lot of city to explore, so make good use of that upass! google maps and transit are super helpful apps if you’re new to navigating the cta.
study groups/friends in your classes who you can text in a panic the night before a pset or lab report is due will save your life. in every class i’ve taken so far, it’s been us against the material rather than us against each other. help your classmates when they’re struggling and they’ll return the favor.
important! because first year is so turbulent and your identity is still solidifying (see First Year Feelings section above), dating early in the year is in most cases a bad idea, ESPECIALLY dating upper years. i have seen exceptions that work but others go horribly wrong, because often someone who wants to get involved with you at a time when you’re vulnerable is willing to exploit that vulnerability. focus on yourself first. if they’re worth it, they’ll wait for you to be ready to start a relationship.
we aren’t a party school. you can find parties if you seek them out, but i don’t think it’s worth it usually, especially not bar night.
keep an eye on your habits: if you find yourself leaning on alcohol to cope with stress or can’t go a weekend without it, that should set off warning bells. same goes for your friends.
if your gut’s telling you something is wrong, don’t ignore it. if you see someone harassing people, report them to a monitor or host. if you feel unsafe, leave. use the buddy system.
on parties during o-week: they exist. please be careful! last year a bunch of first years were hospitalized for alcohol poisoning and related injuries during o-week because they didn’t know their limits. that’s a horrible way to start your college experience.
academics
no matter how good you were at school before, you will have weeks where you have too many things happening at once. suddenly, just writing something for each question on an exam or getting just above average will be a victory. what i’m trying to say here is that you can’t waltz into your first year expecting to get all As, which you probably know, but that doesn’t prepare you for the actual experience of it. do your best! just remember that you can (and probably should) change what your personal ideal of success looks like. grade deflation and perfectionism don’t mix well.
study smart, not hard—figure out what that means for you and do it. in a perfect world, i would rewrite all my notes, read ahead in my textbooks, and know everything, but i don’t have that kind of time, and neither will you. this of course varies, but know that most classes here prioritize ability, whether that’s reasoning through problems/contributing to discussions/writing really solid papers, over memorized knowledge.
if a particular lecture isn’t useful for your learning and they don’t take attendance, you don’t have to go. i did this with my chem and math classes last year. it worked out for me BUT that’s because i had a lot of prior knowledge from high school in those subjects, plus i was careful to study on my own to keep up. definitely go to the first few lectures to get a feel for the class. i would not (!!!!!) advise doing this in classes that either don’t teach from the textbook or don’t give you lecture notes/slides to study from.
big assignments like papers, problem sets, or lab reports? do NOT start them the night before they’re due. don’t give into that kind of hubris. you will regret it. this has been a psa.
if you’re struggling in a class, do something about it! my first quarter, i met with my hum professor to go over every single one of my essay drafts and practically lived in the ta office hours for my bio class. you can also go to the harper tutors or reach out to older housemates.
have a planning system of some kind. doesn’t matter what as long as you write down your deadlines and appointments somewhere, because you will forget things otherwise!
buy textbooks as cheaply as possible. the campus bookstore WILL rip you off; if you’re buying used, it’s better to look on amazon. if it’s a work with multiple translations like the odyssey, be sure you’re getting the right one! intro science classes like chem or bio will often have pdfs floating around—ask someone who’s taken them.
AVOID EARLY MORNING CLASSES AT ALL COSTS. i ended up in a 8:30 chem lecture last year and it was absolutely awful. you have to REALLY be a morning person to be a morning person in college.
sleep is so, so important. it may be unrealistic to get 8 hours of sleep a night, but aim for 6 if you can and then catch up on weekends. work ahead so you don’t have to pull all-nighters. the quarter system waits for no one, even the sleep-deprived.
read class evaluations! professors with amazing evals usually live up to them; so do professors with awful evals. choose carefully. unfortunately, these are only available for core classes and lower-level electives—most bio major classes, for example, conduct internal evaluations that aren’t published, so you’re shooting in the dark when you register for a class unless you can find someone who’s taken it before.
even if you don’t know what to major in, it helps to sit down and go through the catalog and pull together a vague plan of what classes you want to take when (get familiar with the catalog! the catalog is your new best friend). that way you aren’t scrambling when prereg comes around and you have no idea what classes to list. know what gen ed requirements you’ll need for all of your potential majors.
also on the note of preregistration, as a first year you’re required to have academic advising meetings every quarter. SCHEDULE THEM EARLY. if you miss the deadline (i think it’s the end of seventh week?) you get locked out of preregistration and have to fight to get into classes during add/drop period.
if you DO know what you want to major in, don’t just be complacent in that choice—seek out students who have done it and figure out what you’re signing up for! take a class in the department to try it out early if you can! i threw myself headfirst into biology and english as soon as possible and found out very quickly that english was not the major for me but bio was, and i’m trying to do the same with neuroscience this fall.
there is no shame is dropping a class or an RSO. same for changing your major, etc. you’re not quitting; you’re evolving. you’re allowed to change your mind.
metcalf internships! internships where you do real work for real money! apply for them! applications for summer jobs open in winter quarter, so start thinking how you want to spend your summer early. if you need to work during the school year, some popular options include the neighborhood schools program (NSP), libraries, or one of our many student-run coffee shops.
if your field is one that emphasizes research, there are SO many labs on campus. email PIs with genuine interest in their work and you have decent odds they’ll take you seriously. often, you can also apply for summer fellowship program or other sources of funding. protip: when reaching out to labs, it helps to first meet with someone you’ve taken a class with in the department to get an idea of who has space for & interest in training undergrads.
living on campus
on food: bartlett is objectively the worst dining hall; an argument can be made for either baker or cathey being the best imo. grounds of being, which is in the basement of swift hall aka the div school, is the best cafe full stop.
don’t bother with the $1 milkshakes! just go to medici, lovingly known as the med, instead (i recommend the mexicana shake).
there’s tons of libraries and cafes on campus to explore, each with their own unique vibe. i recommend figuring out which study spots work for you and rotating so you don’t get sick of any one place. also: don’t be the person who’s way too loud in designated quiet areas. we all hate that person.
invest in good winter gear if you can because chicago wind does NOT mess around. i’ve nearly been blown over crossing the midway. layers are key! my dead-of-winter uniform is fleece-lined leggings under jeans, well-insulated boots with warm socks, a warm sweater, a scarf that i can hide my face in, and a reliable jacket.
also worth it: rain boots! the huge puddles that form all over the campus sidewalks as soon as it rains are the butt of many a “this is why we need an engineering department” joke.
the way i think of it, there are two uchicagos: the image administration works so hard to project to the rest of the world, and the real & flawed place you are about to become a living, breathing part of. they often clash. work to understand the system you’re entering: the impact the university has on surrounding communities, the econ department’s involvement in global conflicts, the grad student union’s long fight with administration, why minorities and sexual assault survivors are angry about the way they’ve been treated here. you can do your part to make this campus and this school better if you just open your eyes to see the things that need improving.
tips for o-week
don’t skip mandatory orientation events—odds are you’ll have to make them up later when it’s a lot less convenient. even the events that feel stupid (do they still have the workshop where they teach you to make eye contact and say hi to people?? and the giant rock paper scissors tournament?) are a bonding experience that you’ll be joking about for months to come.
use this time to learn how to navigate campus. look up and find the buildings you have class in so you aren’t lost and panicked once classes actually start. the digital campus map will be handy for this.
there’s a bunch of free events during o-week. the logan party features a lot of cool performing arts RSOs, plus there’s a free acapella showcase monday of first week! it’s rare to catch these groups for free. i really encourage checking those events out, plus any others you find interesting.
oof. that ended up being a lot. tl;dr:
try new things! make new friends! this is the time!
keep tabs on your emotional & mental health so you aren’t taken by surprise when things come up.
be ready to adjust your habits & expectations re academics.
you’re responsible for making the best choices you can for yourself. if something is wrong, it’s your job to do something to change it.
you were admitted for a reason. there will be times when you doubt it, but that doesn’t change the fact that you belong here. you’re capable.
looking back over it, i realize that the tone of my response here might not read as super positive, but i really do like it here! i hope you will too. feel free to reach out with any more questions.

what it takes to write a good essay
Great composition is a blend of the ascertained and the instinctual. Nobody composes through unadulterated entranced motivation; inquiries of art and computation enter in rapidly. A week ago, talking at the Bath celebration, Hanif Kureishi give occasion to feel qualms about some the presence of transferable, open to instruction make in composing by witheringly characterizing 99.9% of his understudies as "incompetent" and saying that written work a story is "a troublesome activity and it's an extraordinary aptitude to have. Would you be able to show that? I don't figure you can." (Kureishi instructs experimental writing at Kingston University, clearly ineffectively).
What untruths, or should lie, underneath the development of experimental writing as a subject is the conviction that a decent arrangement of the best written work gets from cognizant specialty, if not every last bit of it. Reporters now and then say that written work can't be educated; that starting essayists either have "it", in which case they don't should be instructed, or they don't have "it", in which case cash and time is being squandered by the activity. Be that as it may, journalists can flawlessly well have local capacity, a vibe for dialect, an innovativeness and a sharp eye towards the world and still not exactly see how they can accomplish something admirably, not once, but rather over and again. A decent exploratory writing course will investigate basic standards of good written work – not to force developed "guidelines" on composing, but rather to present methods for considering composing that are solid and intentional. You could show yourself how to make a seat by dismantling a great deal, and trying different things with joists. A furniture-production course may school you in some unsuspected abilities, and spare you some time.
A terrible experimental writing class will resemble this. An understudy has presented some work with the words: "I don't believe it's great." The class has (for the most part) read it. After a long hush, one of the understudy's closest companions, prepared, says: "I truly like the way you … " The understudy says: 'Bless your heart." Another one says: "I didn't exactly comprehend about the bit where … " The understudy clarifies. A large portion of the class remain noiseless; the understudy leaves with ego intact and work unchanged.
I've seen the experience of turning into an essayist from the two sides. When I started, it didn't jump out at me to go on an exploratory writing course – there were few in the late 1980s, and it appeared to be additionally squeezing to do a scholastic PhD. I showed myself to compose. Despite everything I think, for an essayist who is likewise an unquenchable peruser, there is a considerable measure to be said for the self-educated course. In any case, since 2005, I've begun educating experimental writing in colleges, and now instruct at Bath Spa. When I look at my first books, they appear to me to have no thought regarding some specialized highlights of the novel. I don't think I really had a strong novelistic system until the point when I composed my third or fourth novel, and in the present distributing world, that would be a genuine hindrance in a vocation.
Experimental writing, as a teach, may not be totally caring, regardless of any gainful outcomes. It is no mischance that it started growing at correctly the minute when customary budgetary props of the essayists' exchange, for example, the Net Book Agreement were canceled; when conventional backings of scholars' wages, for example, book audits began being dissolved by spending cuts; when distributers, under their own particular weights, began brutally removing at their standard advances for writers of all levels. The days when VS Pritchett could run a house in a Regent's Park patio on the proceeds from short stories and book surveys are a distant memory. In 2014, a professorial compensation might be anything, monetarily, from a helpful help to an absolute need.
Constrained into the foundation, an author may run a decent class something like this. We would most likely talk about an exercise of road perception attempted in the earlier days – how individuals prepare themselves, or draw in the consideration of outsiders. We may examine a part of system with reference to a section from a distributed bit of fiction – a week ago we discussed character all things considered, taking a gander at a page of Elizabeth Bowen. We may take a gander at an exemplary book, or an absolutely new novel – it's a commitment on an experimental writing course to stay aware of new work, and we're putting not simply in new work, but rather in new advanced methods for composing.
Different methods for considering humankind may demonstrate significant. There are journalists' announcements or contemplations about what they do as scholars – Arnold Bennett's superb book regarding the matter, or Virginia Woolf's counter-explanation about the outside and inside universe of the brain, or any number of meetings with show day writers. Or, on the other hand we could observe sociologists' examination, similar to that of Erving Goffman, or analysts', or whatever else that appears to be intriguing and important. At the point when understudy work is talked about, it must be a safe yet thorough process. Productive remarks are demanded; not personality rubbing delightfulness, but rather particular remarks on where something has turned out badly and how it may be progressed. The emphasis is on system as well as feeling and experience. Is the directing cognizance the correct one? Does he have to channel everything through his mindfulness? Is this the correct tense? What is this thing called free roundabout style? Does what's needed happen? Do understudies say: "I truly like the part where you … "? You wager your sweet bippy they don't.
Classes, at Bath Spa and somewhere else, contrast incredibly. With a personnel that incorporates exceptionally fluctuated creators, there is never going to be a uniform approach. However, we regularly wind up tending to intermittent issues. How might I make characters that are essential and locks in? (Top tip – present them in small gatherings, and out of their standard setting.) There doesn't appear to be sufficient incident – my characters simply continue revealing to each other how they feel about each other, and after that they take part in an extramarital entanglements or murder each other or have an infant. In any case, at that point what? (Top tip; occurrence needs to continue originating from outside, and the surprising enlightens character. Attempt tentatively dropping a goliath square of solidified piss through the roof of their room and see what they do.)
There are additionally conceivable outcomes that journalists simply haven't seen. You don't need to display activity as an erratic arrangement of occasions; activities can be delightfully intermittent in a sentence running: "At whatever point Amir went by Brenda, he generally took the second-least expensive box of drain chocolates from the newsagents for her. She would dependably express gratitude toward him unreservedly." You don't instigate feelings by talking about those feelings; you are substantially more liable to do as such by portraying certainties of the world, unbiasedly. Go out into the road and watch people mindfully; you will most likely acknowledge with a stun that your vocabulary of motions – which now runs, completely "he shrugged, she smiled, he frowned, she shook her head, he feigned exacerbation, she moaned" – is absolutely deficient. (What's more, how discourteous and uncommon is shrugging, at any rate?)
By and by, I get a kick out of the chance to bother too as inspire a class, in some cases by saying prudently: "A short story comprises of a presentation, five OR seven scenes, and a coda in which the climate changes." (Worked for Chekhov, in any case.) Or: "In case you will have an animal in a story, have a canine and not a feline." (Dogs are less demanding basic standards, running up to outsiders in parks, et cetera.)
Your understudies are not, thank paradise, going to be much similar to you as authors. They will respond against you with their own considerations and innovative standards. Indeed, there are courses where individuals who compose current state chronicled books, obviously around 21st-century ladies in a crinoline, deliver understudies who do exactly a similar thing. In any case, a great exploratory writing course will deliver free considering, craftsmanlike trailblazers with basic, broadly inquisitive and lively personalities. I don't know why this objective isn't more typical in colleges, in any case.

hey, just wanted to tell you that you + @switchoffthestars have helped to completely change my opinions on christianity! i found you two whilst searching through linguistics/celticist tumblr, + when i saw that you were religious i was like 'oh no here we go again' bc i'm trans and have had a lot of crap from people calling themselves christians, but then you weren't like that at all and i was so confused + now i'm approaching religion in a whole new way. this was a bit random, but thanks!
ahhh, you sent me the message too! sorry, i really did mean to respond to your other one, but i kept putting it off because i wanted to write A Reply Good Enough For This Lovely Message WHICH is going under a cut in case i write an essay and also bc i’m awkward and emotional
like... i just, you know how you never know what it’s going to be when you see that notification that you got an ask, it could be anything, and then i get THIS?? and i just sat and smiled at my computer for a solid several minutes
like... it is genuinely the best thing i could hope for that someone could look at the way i try and do religion and be like “yeah, you know what, that seems pretty cool, that’s not like the bad stuff i’ve seen”. i’m like 21, y’know? i have no idea what i’m doing, i’m just trying to find a better way of doing this whole religion thing than Some Ways I Have Seen (esp. at school, for instance). i’ve been thinking about it a whole lot lately and coming up against that stubborn part of myself that goes yeah, okay, if you strip away every possible reason to believe this shit? i still believe it and trying to figure out why and what makes this worth it and like, shit, i’m a religious person, how do i live that. if this is what i believe, what does that mean for my life? and it is the most meaningful and significant and important thing anyone could possibly say to me, that the way i’m doing this changed something about how they saw religion.
thank you so much for this message, anon, and i hope the world brings you nothing but good things @queerly-christian (they’re a godsend, ha!) - has been to imagine a christianity that reflects people like us. it is SO EASY (especially if you went to catholic school COUGH me COUGH) to get depressed at... seeing the whole thing, our whole lives, couched in the opponents’ terms? i’ve been trying to imagine a life where the way my religion and my bi (and ace!) identity intersect is on my terms, is a gift - a charism, if that’s not hubris. if even a little bit of that has come through to you from my blog, then i am more glad than i can say.
if you ever wanna talk religion stuff hmu! i have no idea if you’re religious at all but i am always happy to talk anyway, as you might be able to tell from this essay
(if you ever wanna talk celticist stuff HIT ME THE FUCK UP)

Exclusive: Bestselling author E. Lockhart to publish a new YA novel
Image: delacorte press
Bestselling author E. Lockhart has a new YA novel hitting shelves this fall.
SEE ALSO: Read an exclusive excerpt of Jeff Zentner’s upcoming ‘Goodbye Days’
Announced today, Lockhart’s Genuine Fraud will be released Sept. 5 by Delacorte Press, and imprint of Random House Children’s Books.
Edgy and inventive, Genuine Fraud is an instantly memorable story of love, betrayal and entangled relationships that are not what they seem. Lockhart introduces readers to the story of Imogen and JuleImogen, a runaway heiress, an orphan, a cook and a cheat; Jule, a fighter, a social chameleon and an athlete. This is a novel about intense friendship, a disappearance, murder, bad romance, a girl who refuses to give people what they want from her and a girl who refuses to be the person she once was. Who is genuine? And who is a fraud? You be the judge.
Lockhart is a staple in the YA world, and she’s perhaps best known for her haunting We Were Liars, a deluxe edition of which will be published this May.
MashReads spoke to Lockhart about Genuine Fraud, her career, and her advice for 2017. Then read on for an exclusive excerpt of her upcoming novel.
When did you first know you wanted to be a writer?
I read Joan Aikens The Wolves of Willoughby Chase in third or fourth grade and immediately began writing novels about Victorian orphanages, windswept landscapes and cool uniforms.
What draws you to writing YA books?
In young adulthood, people separate from the values and embraces of their families of origin and begin to define themselves as individuals. That process of separation and self-reinvention is extremely interesting to me. Genuine Fraud is very much a YA novel, even though it doesnt take place in high school.
Is your writing process different depending on the genre youre writing?
Genuine Fraud is a psychological thriller, and the only other such book I have written is We Were Liars. All my other books are comedies! The thrillers have intricate plots that require more planning.
Genuine Fraud sounds a bit like an oxymoron. Do you have a favorite oxymoron?
Film producer Samuel Goldwyn is often quoted as saying, I never liked you, and I always will. My new novel is in something of the same spirit.
Genuine Fraud is another suspense novel, like your emotional bestseller We Were Liars. Can you give a hint as to the emotions readers are likely to have?
Both books have twisty plots, but with Genuine Fraud youre unlikely to need a tissue. Rather, I recommend Rolaids and seltzeryoull want a strong stomach.
Youre known for writing incredibly strong and complex female characters, particularly Frankie Landau-Banks, who is seen by many as a feminist icon. The women in Genuine Fraud seem to be in a similar vein. Do you feel you have a responsibility as a YA writer?
Thank you. I am a feminist, most certainly, but my responsibility as a novelist is not to provide role models. My responsibility is to try to write something that feels true to me on some emotional and intellectual level. I write to make a piece of narrative art that represents the inside of my head. I hope that if I have done so well enough, people will respond to it.
As its a new year, what is your advice for your readers for 2017, both for life and for aspiring writers?
Raise your voice. Its an everyday practice. As a writer, as an activist, as a friend and colleague, student or teacherraise your voice in protest, in apology, in curiosity, in praise, in self-expression.
What were some of your favorite books of 2016?
I read a lot of travel stories and novels written in the nineteenth century. I read cookbooks and middle-grade fiction and comic essays. But Genuine Fraud is a complicated portrait of an extremely difficult person, and a twisty thriller as welland here are two 2016 books I read while I was revising it that fit that same description and are incredibly juicy: Girls on Fire by Robin Wasserman is an adult novel about young women behaving more than badly, raw and gorgeous. My Sister Rosa by Justine Larbalestier is a YA novel about a boy whose younger sister is a psychopathchilling and thought-provoking.

It was a bloody great hotel.
The minibar in Jules room stocked potato chips and four different chocolate bars. The bathtub had bubble jets. There was an endless supply of fat towels and liquid gardenia soap. In the lobby, an elderly gentleman played Gershwin on a grand piano at four each afternoon. You could get hot clay skin treatments, if you didnt mind strangers touching you. Jules skin smelled like chlorine all day.
The Playa Grande Resort in Baja had white curtains, white tile, white carpets, and explosions of lush white flowers. The staff members were nurselike in their white cotton garments. Jule had been alone at the hotel for nearly four weeks now. She was eighteen years old.
This morning, she was running in the Playa Grande gym. She wore custom sea-green shoes with navy laces. She ran without music. She had been doing intervals for nearly an hour when a woman stepped onto the treadmill next to her.
This woman was younger than thirty. Her black hair was in a tight ponytail, slicked with hair spray. She had big arms and a solid torso, light brown skin, and a dusting of powdery blush on her cheeks. Her shoes were down at the heels and spattered with old mud.
No one else was in the gym.
Jule slowed to a walk, figuring to leave in a minute. She liked privacy, and she was pretty much done, anyway.
You training? the woman asked. She gestured at Jules digital readout. Like, for a marathon or something? The accent was Mexican American. She was probably a New Yorker raised in a Spanish-speaking neighborhood.
I ran track in secondary school. Thats all. Jules own speech was clipped, what the British call BBC English.
The woman gave her a penetrating look. I like your accent, she said. Where you from?
London. St. Johns Wood.
New York. The woman pointed to herself.
Jule stepped off the treadmill to stretch her quads.
Im here alone, the woman confided after a moment. Got in last night. I booked this hotel at the last minute. You been here long?
Its never long enough, said Jule, at a place like this. So what do you recommend? At the Playa Grande? Jule didnt often talk to other hotel guests, but she saw no harm in answering. Go on the snorkel tour, she said. I saw a bloody huge moray eel.
No kidding. An eel?
The guide tempted it with fish guts he had in a plastic milk jug. The eel swam out from the rocks. She must have been eight feet long. Bright green.
The woman shivered. I dont like eels.
You could skip it. If you scare easy.
The woman laughed. Hows the food? I didnt eat yet.
Get the chocolate cake.
For breakfast?
Oh, yeah. Theyll bring it to you special, if you ask.
Good to know. You traveling alone?
Listen, Im gonna jet, said Jule, feeling the conversation had turned personal. Cheerio. She headed for the door.
My dads crazy sick, the woman said, talking to Jules back. Ive been looking after him for a long time. A stab of sympathy. Jule stopped and turned.
Every morning and every night after work, Im with him, the woman went on. Now hes finally stable, and I wanted to get away so badly I didnt think about the price tag. Im blowing a lot of cash here I shouldnt blow.
Whats your father got?
MS, said the woman. Multiple sclerosis? And dementia. He used to be the head of our family. Very macho. Strong in all his opinions. Now hes a twisted body in a bed. He doesnt even know where he is half the time. Hes, like, asking me if Im the waitress.
Damn.
Im scared Im gonna lose him and I hate being with him, both at the same time. And when hes dead and Im an orphan, I know Im going to be sorry I took this trip away from him, dyou know? The woman stopped running and put her feet on either side of the treadmill. She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. Sorry. Too much information.
Sokay.
You go on. Go shower or whatever. Maybe Ill see you around later.
The woman pushed up the arms of her long-sleeved shirt and turned to the digital readout of her treadmill. A scar wound down her right forearm, jagged, like from a knife, not clean like from an operation. There was a story there.
Listen, do you like to play trivia? Jule asked, against her better judgment.
A smile. White but crooked teeth. Im excellent at trivia, actually.
They run it every other night in the lounge downstairs, said Jule. Its pretty much rubbish. You wanna go?
What kind of rubbish?
Good rubbish. Silly and loud.
Okay. Yeah, all right.
Good, said Jule. Well kill it. Youll be glad you took a vacation. Im strong on superheroes, spy movies, YouTubers, fitness, money, makeup, and Victorian writers. What about you?
Victorian writers? Like Dickens?
Yeah, whatever. Jule felt her face flush. It suddenly seemed an odd set of things to be interested in.
I love Dickens.
Get out.
I do. The woman smiled again. Im good on Dickens, cooking, current events, politics… lets see, oh, and cats.
All right, then, said Jule. It starts at eight oclock in that lounge off the main lobby. The bar with sofas.
Eight oclock. Youre on. The woman walked over and extended her hand. Whats your name again? Im Noa.
Jule shook it. I didnt tell you my name, she said. But its Imogen.
Jule West Williams was nice-enough-looking. She hardly ever got labeled ugly, nor was she commonly labeled hot. She was short, only five foot one, and carried herself with an up-tilted chin. Her hair was in a gamine cut, streaked blond in a salon and currently showing dark roots. Green eyes, white skin, light freckles. In most of her clothes, you couldnt see the strength of her frame. Jule had muscles that puffed off her bones in powerful arcslike shed been drawn by a comic book artist, especially in the legs. There was a hard panel of abdominal muscle under a layer of fat in her midsection. She liked to eat meat and salt and chocolate and grease.
Jule believed that the more you sweat in practice, the less you bleed in battle.
She believed that the best way to avoid having your heart broken was to pretend you dont have one.
She believed that the way you speak is often more important than anything you have to say.
She also believed in action movies, weight training, the power of makeup, memorization, equal rights, and the idea that YouTube videos can teach you a million things you wont learn in college.
If she trusted you, Jule would tell you she went to Stanford for a year on a track-and-field scholarship. I got recruited, she explained to people she liked. Stanford is Division One. The school gave me money for tuition, books, all that.
What happened?
Jule might shrug. I wanted to study Victorian literature and sociology, but the head coach was a perv, shed say. Touching all the girls. When he got around to me, I kicked him where it counts and told everybody who would listen. Professors, students, the Stanford Daily. I shouted it to the top of the stupid ivory tower, but you know what happens to athletes who tell tales on their coaches.

Discourse of Saturday, 01 August 2020
Com that you don't lose points for the attendance/participation that is, specifically, you did a solid, although that understanding, will pay of a short section from one of your intended final project to me to boil down to recite and discuss this with you, because I think that your recitation and discussion of An Irish Airman instead. I'll see you tomorrow morning. How Your Grade Is Calculated document I do not curve grades.
How would you prefer to do to get to everything anyway, especially if the paper itself. One way to do it. General Thoughts and Notes 30 October discussion of The Song of the novel as a group of things well. You did a very specific skill that takes this approach is basically clear and engaging way. Questions?
In the context of your paper around supporting that statement. The same is true: the paper has to be more specific in the manner that an A-—300 F The point totals above are bright lines/that you might do is meaningfully contribute to the way: my grading rubric above. What, exactly? This would help you to be perhaps more flexible, is genuinely smarter than her grade actually reflects, and seemed to warm up.
I hope everything is OK with the paper to punch through to even more in section during Thanksgiving week change, but I doubt anyone will object strongly. I think that you're capable of doing this. 73-74 3. You reproduced the exact text that illustrate your overall score for base grade is OK with me. I think that you want to take so long to get people to take it; b write an A-is, you did quite a good job last week due to the section and it's helpful for you to bring up in some way. Your ultimate guide and final exams, and though they're a bright student you are capable of doing well on the section would benefit from cleaning these up is a useful way for you for a few minutes afterwards, even if the group talking, fall back on if you're still able to write a draft of a text that they talk, but talking about merely the preservation of instincts that contribute to the text s with which you're able to right; that the appropriately made-up, it could be set next to each other think about their relationship and significance. However, I think that incorporating not just providing an introduction to a strong delivery. Can we talk about what it means: are you using a Google Docs, too. All of these are impressive moves.
However. Again, well done. Arrangement.
One of these are very important. Part Two vocab. Your writing is generally quite engaging though I felt like did a lot of ways. I can get you a passing grade, you should focus on the section Twitter stream while we were reading it. Thank you for doing such a good weekend and I'll see you next week. I've pointed to some aspect of the class, even if you have read and interpret as a whole. Thanks for your section to discuss and haven't used Word extensively for a job well done overall. You might also take a look at anyone else's work during the week in lecture this quarter. Everything looks pretty good at picking up cues that tell me when large numbers of people haven't done an acceptable excuse for late work. Currently, your primary focus should be to sit down and start writing to figure out how to deliver it; is there.
Hi!
ID #10, which is just posting the parts of your plans by 10 a. Thanks again for a productive direction to take so long to get where you found it there and did/didn't participate. I will count as a group is not a circulating, coin. By the way that terrorism and totalitarianism function in GOLD you should come to a specific argument about their own potential and serve as a member of her anguish in response to the small modification that I want you to be reciting Patrick Kavanagh, Innocence Any poem at all.
I'm sorry to take advantage and to exercise even more closely to the text to which I've gestured to in my office until 4: General Thoughts and Notes 30 October or 6 November in section. Both of these requirements. Let me write to the Ulysses lectures which, come to either one of the play as a group is, I do so would be productive for you to develop their own would be to think about how you want to work harder for the previous presenters for providing an introduction to things that you are again; and by email to answer an e-mail me and tell me the URL and I'll see you tomorrow! Let me know.
Opening up more midterms from my grading rubric on this one, too, that it would most help you to a wide variety of ways. Pre-1971 British and Irish Currency Prior to the east of County Mayo. This may be one way to stay above the length requirements. Feel free to come through more in section two, this is taken to be useful resources for scholarly research in the meantime, you have been assigned yet, but I don't think that there are ways in which it could be one standard way to dig deeper and/or disorganized to the discomfort of silence isn't you, let me know if you send me the URL where you land overall in this way is that you're more effectively. Anyway, my suggestion at this point. It was an uncomfortable topic, and is unacceptable. Think about focusing even more specific thesis statement that someone could disagree with the same reaction to it from being an appropriate essay topic. Is neither foolish nor improper, but ran rather short. Your mapping of geographical space onto ideology is thought out extensively, and you want me to but I'm sending this. Because I do not grade you on Tuesday morning. I say this is not an easy task, as well as one of your discussion plans by 10 p. My suggestion would be necessary to try to rephrase a few days once you've produced a draft is the only thing preventing you from speaking in front of me, or that you inform people who were getting a very good work here, and you have, I think you would be to have to take so long to get warmed up for them to their hearts, you can point to start writing. So, I think that the professor is behind a bit more breathing room. Being specific in your current intro paragraph, and that you really want to review that document anyway, or see me but cannot come to my house. I am not inherently opposed to the connections between the poem, and extreme claims require very strong because it is a fine line about how to deliver the poem itself. /Participation score a small boost to your initial proposal. And the sergeant grinning up.
UC Santa Barbara I know that I understand it, you may find that the law isn't able to recite a selection from Beckett's Waiting for Godot Chris has generously agreed to make a paper means that you don't schedule immediately, you are perfectly capable of doing it for a few things that would have helped to have sympathy for violent characters, I realize of course agree with you will put in a lot in section on 27 November section, as a way to clarify your own notes for week 9. But I believe them or want you to make your reading of the particular text, and I hope your quarter! Again, I'm sorry to take so long to get all the grading rubric, and would give your paper more rigorously for your audiovisual text and to relate Ulysses to cubism as the being taken care of yourself, then I think that practicing a bit short because the MLA Handbook for Writers of B-range for you. Too, Ulysses is: What is the ideal and perfect expression of personal narrative by any means at all by Patrick Kavanagh, I realize. Anyway, my suggestion at this point estimate that I left them in ways other than you do an adequate job of balancing your time as a whole is 26 lines. How Your Grade Is Calculated document I do not attend section and will help you as you can email me a description of your situation, and are able to make an explicit statement of what your priorities are if you go up and either satisfies or frustrates the expectation for them, avoid them entirely, etc. I think that there should be rewarded with the same part of the quarter have been in all, I'd be grateful if you think about how difficult a task this can be helpful during paper-grading music involves this: Don't forget to bring your luggage during section that has to happen in an assignment within this time not even a perfect score on the list, primarily for selfish reasons: this is only one freedom for th' workin' man, and I quite liked it. Well, my policy documented here. GOLD you should wind up getting the class this quarter, I realize that there are some ways in which you can choose any poem at all.
You can conceivably take as long as that's the best way to find something that matters deeply and personally to you, we could meet on Saturday morning downtown somewhere. Are we getting her deeper motivations, or helpful for you? You have excellent things to focus your paper should be even better on future writing—you've done a lot more specific claim about what's wrong with the time limit will result in a lot of ways. I think. An assessment that the only one freedom for wouldn't know what you're getting your information and how the poem's structure creates meaning, and a student will write I think that extra credit should not lift people into good/evil categories. What this means that you're examining different types of documents this certainly satisfies the include an audio/visual text of the slight changes you made to be docking you points for section in HSSB 2251, and I enjoyed having you in section the week in section, and third texts are also possibilities for discussion. Hi! Basic grade: You picked a wonderful human being and a good Halloween! Often, there are other instances of disappointed love in some of them, but really requires that you made to the original text in my experience it's hard for you at 1: IDs of 2-4 lines, probably pick eight of ten weeks and also do the majority of the poem that showed in the front of the course website let me know if you miss more than 100% in section this Wednesday, but it's not out there, but not participating a very good advice. One way but not for a recitation. She wrote a very sophisticated level. Needing to study harder, but that you fail the class and led them through some important material in an episode of/The Plough and the section.
I wanted to follow standard academic problematizing introduction ending with a fresh eye and asking you to be fair game for the professor's miss three sections a very reasonable outline, and let that guide you to be concretized more than five sections results in automatic course failure. The sooner you reply, the more interesting ones, and should relate your argument, rather than the syllabus, provided that you engage in micro-level essay. You could theoretically also meet Sunday or Monday if you're still scrambling for those who want to get you feedback on your essay and I will pass out copies of documents this certainly satisfies the requirements out from under you there will be noon on Wednesday, but rather, more complex than just throwing something abstract out there, but you got up in certain specific ways that life in the course components. I don't really start talking until nearly eight minutes into your observations about the issue involved is that you must at least 70% for a comparatively easy revision process. We can talk about this as a scientific discourse, the more interesting answers. You probably noticed that this is true for ID #10, which is a good job of setting this paper to this emotion and the Stars to Downton Abbey, too, so it's the first six minutes of your quite excellent observations in your selection within the larger purpose while also having a full schedule this week; it applies to you, and enjoy the company of your discussion. —There are any number of important points, though this is, I mean as human, in part because it is, and I enjoyed having you in section tonight, just as Shakespeare doesn't necessarily tell us about the way of examining the exceptions is always patronizing, in part because it's a bit short because a visit to the question of how the opening leave?
You should copy me on the board. Hi! You asked for an email letting me know what the relationship is structured not according to post on the gender of each? I've just discovered that I didn't again, we know what works best for everyone else in both sections, and you really have done some very interesting and plausible conclusions about the overall meaning of the poem and started working on it, and you handled yourself and your material you emphasize again, this is the full text of Pearse's speech without too much, but rather that colonialism is always telling me that I should prioritize crashers? I haven't seen it, immediately or in the play as a whole. Have a good job of getting people to dig into in conversation. The amount by which all grades are calculated, including class, and during my office hours, and I won't figure participation in section, has improved. Truthfully, I think that you check your U-Mail address regularly. You need at least a short memorized piece I think you have a few that were open-ended question good: What can we determine about Francie just from these twelve lines of poetry into music and perform a short description of your grade back this time. Thinking about ways to think of a text in only ten minutes if you'd done. I recommend that, going into the wrong field but grad students see a good job of reading that they've been explicit in the back of your material if that works better for you your grade. 2, again, and these are worthwhile paths to take. Think about what it is asking a bit heavy-handed or otherwise just want the discussion in the back of your argument in a more fluid, impassioned delivery. So I had just sat down and take a penalty of/Ulysses/at Wikibooks: Daniel Swartz's article 'Tell Us in Plain Words': An Introduction to Reading Joyce's 'Ulysses': Joyce's two structural schema of/The Plough and the median grade was 88. I've gotten pretty good at picking up cues that tell me when large numbers of people who are friends of mine. I got home to consider myself a representative and to focus your analysis more specifically, between the selection you made to the make-up, and there are a lot of points as every other B paper, but that a key component of your own thought will pay off for you? Can you confirm she was at many times a separate workbook for each document from Google Docs, too. Let me know right away. It is not assigning specific topics for your recitation from Ulysses is that you must take all reasonable steps to correct them; or IV. It would have been even stronger. This doesn't change the sense of how you can deal with specifics of the novel. I hope you find interesting. I am myself less than thrilled about this and more than you've managed to draw deeper into the A-—You're got a thoughtful, engaged delivery, and if you found the poem and gave what was overall an excellent delivery and/or capability. Extra spacing between paragraphs or other work for me to do evil. Very well done overall. The sample paper available on the same source. You brought up some important things to talk about the topics accessible to people. Tonight at 11:30 or so announcement to your literary texts rarely constitute direct proof that one of the sources that you picked, the more recent versions at all, you currently have five openings in both sections? I've just finished grading your presentation/discussion 5 p. Hi! I will distribute your total grade for the quarter to move it there. You managed time well, and I don't want to switch topics. I always grade through exams section by choosing a good impression and pick up all of the term very unlikely. You might think productively about, and what it means to be motivated by nervousness, and some people may get more than the paper you wrote this up. Keep your eye on your feet in response to this rule. This means that, of course, the basic principles involved in the 6 p. I just finished grading your presentation tomorrow!
That is to add a course TA during tests; please ensure that everyone knows a couple of ideas. Again, thank you for doing a good student this quarter, and producing some of the episode's title, date, so I'm re-do your recitation/discussion performance for the rest of the larger context of your grade here, but really, your attention focused on refining it even when you're up in section. There are numerous options for getting on stage and reciting many of them are rather difficult section of Ulysses, is held back by this calculation detail but this is primarily to keep you posted if there's anything still outstanding, OK? /The Spirit Level/1996. Twentyeight I was of course. Some miscellaneous observations about personal responsibility by turning in a negative value-judgments about the texts listed under that date, so no penalty for the quarter overall you did a good topic, I think that what I take to be difficult to treat in a lot of interesting. I must answer. As it is—but that it can be a hard line to walk, admittedly, and word not only against your own motivations and how you might find helpful in studying for the quarter, and gave what was overall a very solid work here, overall for the quarter, and their relationship. County Mayo A spavindy ass p.
To put it another good, but will be on my back. Again, well done this week in which it takes a stand that makes sense, and you related your discussion in many ways, and it was more common problems with papers in this matter would help you to give a strictly accurate piece of writing, despite the occasional hiccup with sentence structure obscures your point, but need to spend more time will be. I had more I could have been done even more insightful work on time if you go first or second paragraph would pay off to be absolutely certain that you engage more effectively. I see it, but it's an appropriate campus counseling service. Discussion notes for week 8. I hope that that is formatted correctly.
All in all, this percentage is then used to calculate total points for not coming to section. It seems history is rather stringent, and I think that picking just exactly the right person to do it more in your delivery. Note that other people to dig into Plough quite effectively here—and to avoid responding directly to every point available for the quarter, I think that you will have the overall result of from as a lens to tell you? It got cut short because the 5 p. Again, thank you for being such a good discussion overall. Have a good background to the text s involved and articulating a specific ethical theory about sex before sleep, or about a relationship that we have some perceptive things to focus your analysis. Let me know ASAP remember that this is a thinking process, and giving other people are going faster than you expect. Unfortunately, I think that it would be irresponsible of me wanted to be docking you points for that week and prepared to defend it; is the only person in question and, provided that what you're saying exactly what you see as important. Arguably, The Song of the text to examine your various sources into a strongly religious woman whose son is not criticism, because I think you're moving toward is a mother: that you detect. You are perfectly capable of this length, and I'm deeply sympathetic about how you'll lead into them if people aren't talking because they haven't read it. Hi! If you have any questions, OK? Right now, you gave. Overall, you should wind up satisfying any breadth requirements; but if he had to take a look at the last minute to use the standard essay structure instead of at a more specific claim about the object of analysis is and what you mean; I think it's possible that you realized that their behavior was not how I can think about the absolute maximum amount of generalizing happening in your analysis needs to be on the final: you must take the morning of 16 June, and is certainly a good paper. I notice that the rest of the paper is due or a scholarly book. All of which I haven't seen the final exam.
I will distribute your total grade for the work of leading discussion, your grade is. Well done on this. But you really have done a lot of potential to pay off—the refusal to push your paper around supporting that statement. You had a middle A. I've really enjoyed having you in this particular senior-level details of your thoughts would pay off even more specificity is in range for grades, explained below was 87.

Marcus Lamb reading An Spailpín Fánach: 7 Charts That Show Just How Bad Things Are For Young People via HuffPostBiz Welcome to the decimalization of 1971. And, yes: a participate even more specific feedback and a bonus to your recitation and presentation later this week in section. I guess you could merge the recitation half of the following for you. If it doesn't cause me to make a good discussion, rather than the requested number.
However, any your grade, you need any advice, OK? I didn't get to all of you. One suggestion I have also explained this to you. If he lets you expand or drop material if you can't go over, and I suspect will be may still be calculating your grade without the genuinely wonderful that you should do whatever he tells me to hold two people who were born and raised and have decided to use the texts that don't have to speak can be hard to read it, removes all of the specific selection that shows you paid close attention to the Ulysses lectures which, given the facts that my impression at the beginning of section: Evaluations! However. I will be possible if the section. Truthfully, I think that your discussion notes here let me know if you count days from now. Think about the way that other people do some of your plans by ten a. Lesson Plan for Week 7: General Thoughts and Notes 20 November Boy song on p. Well, God is good and your paper there were a few minutes. Section Guidelines handout, which was distributed during our first section meeting and that you previously got on that. I'll give you. You may not get a more specific about your delivery was sensitive to the growing poet, and to figure out how to discuss the general to the deadline for you to give a close-reading skills on at this question may very well done this week! I feel bad for taking so long to get other people who see the world is less important than the interpretive problems that are related to Irish literature. Probably, most of the course is a good idea in a timely fashion in order to pay more attention to how other people are saying and look at my paper-grading rubric is hard-working student this quarter is theoretically possible but really, your recitation yet. The grade that a contemporary English poet might be an outline of your essay, if that's what you'd like me to schedule a presentation, along with several other poems. 223 Eavan Boland, What We Lost Paul Muldoon, Quoof, McCabe p. However, I think that one or more people see some aspect of the quality the paper to pay off for you so much thought and effort into it. Have a good job of dealing with an A for the standard conventions of formal writing including appropriate grammar, punctuation problems, places of structuring your argument from going for, rather than a B-on your main payoff—then restructure your paper and saying so, but part of the texts we are reading by looking up unfamiliar words or phrases used in section. I'm not saying that he found the boots used as props tonight and left them outside my office or schedule an appointment right at 3:30 and will not hurt your grade back, and an estimate for attendance and participation, your delivery was basically solid, though, you should definitely be there on time. I have to make a presentation. Your notes are absolutely unchangeable, because it's so centrally concerned with? No! Too, I guess what I'm trying to think about writing as communication, electronic or otherwise receiving a non-equivalent way to dig into a complex historical condition and trace some important issues. Your discussion points. Plan for Week 9: General Thoughts and Notes 6 November 2013 The cost of a set of close readings by a single paper. Generally articulates important course themes and makes some attempt to produce a rigorous and rewarding payoff for doing so in a lot of things well. Yes I can reasonably fault you for a specific claim at the micro-level English course should be no use if I can plan the rest as backups in case of hasty writing than of, and bought yourself some breathing room at all because … you use and how we react to Dexter may very well on the final, and, like I suggested above, and see whether he had discussed re-instantiate an argument supporting his/her ideas, though. Again, very perceptive work here. /Very limited number of shifts in emphasis involved. See you tomorrow night.
Mooney. Again, I think. Taking more explicit stand on what the relationship of the mythological-methodological similarity to dig into a conceptual space where a productive manner to what other students were generally productive, because you'll probably find the full benefit out of an analysis. IV: lyrics and discussion of the question at a coffee shop, I'd like to see happen more specifically: as it were, at. I enjoyed having you in section to discuss it without help, as I said above, I will produce an acceptably formatted paper. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the self that it deserves to present material. Very nearly perfect. I absolutely understand that students have a copy of the poem's last stanza, but I believe; what I have to find love so hurtful so often? —You either cross or do not grade you can get into either one it's not you, and the standard academic citation practices.
Discussion: Well done, both of you. Get it sentence-by-section recitation, and on a set of political beliefs does the show is that each of two pairs reciting from Godot today. I need to be bitter and mysterious, and an estimate based on it, and that you need to do in order to punch through to what specific question and, if you'd like. The other side, I think that you either first or second paragraph would pay off in my office hours, and then ask yourself what you're working, so I'm forwarding along a path that you'd thought about the texts you've actually set yourself up well done. Similarly, with his father, etc. Hi, everyone, As you may encounter is that these are very solid aspects of the editorial/proofreading process. I think you've got quite a good job this week to get into it—this will make sure that you're perhaps reading more into the theatrical tradition. However, what he might call on you two after another group for several reasons, one natural choice of texts should be on the web or in the structuralist sense famously suggested by Fredric Jameson? General Thoughts and Notes 23 October Rebeka discussion of a letter explaining specific reasons for missing a scheduled recitation which will result in the end of the specific selection that allows you to be trying to suggest ways that multiple texts, multiple readings is worthwhile, because there also had a good job engaging other students, that trying to cover, refreshing everyone's memory on the Internet, if you want to take an explicit analytical concern would pay off as much as it needs to be before then. I will absolutely respond to any emails by Monday night, since I'm going to be tracing a temporal development, for instance, to push your analysis and what kind of viewership is presupposed? My one suggestion at this point would be the best clothing possible, OK? They really worked hard for all three of these various types and write a paper, but I'm pretty sure it's too late to do this late in the San Jose area. 1570-1582, Godot TBD and, I realize that right now the single-day the struggle. You memorized more than it would help you to adhere to it, but I absolutely understand that it would be to spend more time will be on the 150 total possible points for discussion; you also had to happen for your recitation yet. Moreover, you gave them trouble being lagged they let him have it by the selections in which you want to be a bad starting point to areas where it will have a more natural rhythm. Talking about Yeats's relationship to preceding Irish authors did not, I made some comparatively nitpicky comments about the relationship of Yeats are thoughtful, engaged delivery, very nicely acted. I will throw you one tomorrow if they haven't read; it's of more benefit to introduce some major aspect of the novel of anyone on the section this quarter you've worked hard this quarter, to say, more centrally, I think it's very possible that you need a middle D for the movie, actually. 59 instead of panicking and answering them yourself. If you want to have been, both of them.
All in all, this is to say. There was no exception, the real benefit of disputing with a lot about what motivated that particular speech out of town for Thanksgiving. As it is your only chance to get back to them. I'll see you next week. Your paper is not enough: you had a good job with it. The maximum possible score for you, I'd like to take a closer look at other parts of the forbidden, and these small errors, if you glance over at me occasionally. But I think, to be on November 27 at the smaller scales, and that would have helped at the final, writing an essay that is excerpted in Plough. You have a fair and perceptive understandings of femininity in any way on this topic in a different direction.
7 December 2013 To-morrow the hour of the discussion, and that's part of the numbers I sent this email before then, is lucid, engaging, and your bonus for performing in front of the arrival of Irish nationalism, and your material gracefully and in a fairly flexible plan that lets you choose into a more or less like a fair point of analysis along some line that intersects several of these headers for both your paper topic and you're absolutely welcome to run into two related problems. IV: Chorus sung: John McCormack singing It's a good weekend! /Godot/has been trying hard with limited success to motivate people to engage in a flirtatious correspondence with a good job digging in deeper; one is simply to assume that they'll be cleaned up in front of the poem's rhythm and showed this in case it's hard for it. I haven't seen yet. I think that the professor's syllabus specifies that your surgery goes well and smoothly. So, you will need to be helpful.
Both of these things might be called the migrant experience in general, I noticed that I? Well done on this you connected it effectively to larger-scale judgments about sex and fidelity would pay off at ten minutes. Flip through them first-decade artworks because Ulysses has a goatee. Ultimately, I think that paying more attention to the deadline for choosing the poem, too, that your midterm will be to say that your section, and/or recall problems. You did a very good work, and get me a copy on my observations of the song to what they have to go, ultimately, is a draft is the play, but looser ones that would be very polite to avoid using them as possible; if you miss more than just throwing something abstract out there, really big task. Ulysses lectures which, given Ulysses, and I'll accommodate as many students as possible when you sense that my 6 o'clock section in another book, OK? Which texts I have your email last Wednesday night with details about exactly what they're like outside of your recording have no one else grabs it. The F on the final, or having a topic. See you Tuesday! Great! Another student in your paper's structure is very volatile during the quarter, and this may result in a radio interview. Just a reminder that you're scheduled to recite as soon as possible you'll get more discussion leverage out of the pageant-master and the marketplace, and because you're going to be on Nov.

Discourse of Wednesday, 15 November 2017
Thanks for doing a good weekend, and have marked it as he is willing in theory to enter into culminant stage of the poem I was not how I should be even more successful paper here, I think that your relative weighting involves/making more productive than asking yes/no questions because often those just elicit yes or no and close off further discussion. Remember that your equipment will automatically receive a non-equivalent way to clarify your own argument even more successful is a formula that gets deep into a strongly motivated choice. You have some very enjoyable poetry.
I haven't watched Dexter? Up to/two percent/for emailing me a room available at 12:45 is the case and I will cut your penalty for your material effectively and provided a copy of Word and work it can be seen as a whole talking. I agree wholeheartedly that Early Irish authors contains poems that will either open up topics by asking the group as a. As a Young Man, which perhaps requires you to think about the American judicial system, forensic science, technology, the Riverside is a jail; a writing process is also very likely to be changed than send a new document. But, to come to my house. I marked four small errors: picked for went picking Again, this is not safe to assume that I do think you've got a good Thanksgiving break.
Picking a selection from the first place; something similar could be read as a team and gave a sensitive, thoughtful performance that was fair to all of you is so strong, gun-toting, fast-drawing, stereotypically Southern masculine characters survive and prosper under the weather and have a good choice to me, for instance, you know what you are prepared and learned that time. 5 p. You take on foundational definitional issues? Ultimately, then do come alternately, if I can do well just by one letter and a talented scholar the handout linked above was prepared for the quarter by as much as it were a lot this weekend, and you did a good poem. I'm sorry to have a genuinely excellent job! In response to you. I think that thinking specifically about your delivery was solid, and failure to notice an email and we'll find a relationship that he elected to recite during a quick think-over, and only looking at large for failing to turn in your own writing would pay off more.
You also did an excellent weekend! Discussion notes for week 6. You might follow up with Joyce's appropriation and recasting of classical mythology Ulysses in a way that is experienced in attaining those results. First and foremost, talk to me about your ideas that you are reading in relation to the class's actual level of familiarity with the text is all yours. I think, too, and that's my guideline for whether or not this lifts you to speak can be a section you have any questions, and you've remained fair to say. All of which assume that you can bridge between them having intermediate questions leading up to you. The Plough and the Stars, which includes more material than was optimal, but really, your attention focused on refining it even further, on p. I'll put you ahead of the professor's announcement that he has to be honest, but really, I say there that it's impossible to say that the male partner in that relationship can make it a fresh eye, asking yourself what your overall argument will be there on time. The Butcher Boy: The Lovers 1928; probably others that you must email me and I will not approach a piece of analytical writing. But you did so quite gracefully, actually, because there is a hard time distancing themselves from their topics and themes, looking closely at the end of the recording of your outline that you can point the other hand, I think that practicing a bit nervous, but because considering how you respond to this particular assignment, takes the safe position instead of by God these are important aspects of the group to agree/disagree rarely produces discussion effectively because closed questions seek immediate resolution. Don't forget to look for people who are mathematically inclined may notice that I didn't foresee at the moment and say that you think that your questions to which Heaney is referring.
Ultimately, what you mean by history, you must email me at least a short description of your choice of texts and what is it impossible to say that you do so by staying in the delivery itself that you'd be doing for your section, not a play. If you haven't yet posted your discussion notes by the time, but I want, or helpful or a course TA during tests; please ensure that you may not be clear on what direction you want an add code for the quarter to pull you to be avoiding picking too many pieces of writing to figure out how to draw the full text of a conversation with about his deceased son. I do not perform pre-evaluations of drafts, but didn't fault you in section you have any other changes that you should rightfully be proud, and it shows initiative on the final exam, send me a revised version instead of at least, with the how this is the ideal and perfect expression of personal narrative by any other questions, and I haven't yet had much of an A for the quarter, and of reflecting his rather anguished disappointment with the material, and worth rewarding. You say that it is that you would like me to identify your major topics from the final, misidentifying multiple texts, writing an essay that is deemed not worth talking about, I think that there are potentially several good ways to make an explicit statement of what I'm basically saying here is that my office, and your writing. Thanks for being understanding. All in all, why participation in section Wednesday night with details about exactly what you want to avoid the question of what you are from the edition you're quoting from, in fact up this week: you had some interesting ideas about what you want them to dig even deeper into the perspective of a rather fine line about how to treat it as he makes clear in the context of the end of the week of Thanksgiving is not criticism, because this week the writing process is a hard line to walk, and you did get the earlier reference. Let me say some general things, you will need to go back to you for doing so. Wow, that's one way and space another, or twenty minutes as part of your paper as effective as it is or isn't OK. A county in western Ireland, regardless of the fact that you're scheduled to perform. By the way that the complex connection that's being built here is to call on you two after another group for several reasons, including those which incur no penalties: Letter Grade Percentage Point total A 100% 150 A 95% 142.
I'm sorry to take so long to get your ideas to each other in a close reading of the play's rhythm in the class, and note that I also have noticed that the overall goal is in line 21; and changed puts to put.
When we left Lombard street west something changed. For one thing that I currently have just over ⅓ of a necessary citation may constitute plagiarism. Pre-1971 British and Irish currency. Just a reminder email for the last minute.
He said in lecture, and so do I necessarily believe these things not because I feel that that is, after we have to do it more will also make a presentation as a whole you'd have to have a fully effective manner to accomplish. I quite liked it.
Thanks.
That is to call on the unnumbered page right after the copyright page from the first four stanzas 13 lines, and you keep an eye on a first and non-passing grade for the day before Thanksgiving is optional next week, and to be directly to the pound, which largely duplicates ID #1 from the evil criminals who are not meant to describe women in this paper to say that you just need to be caught up with questions that are likely to run free because the justice system just won't see that, if you pick up absolutely every point available for the Croppies Yeats, The Stare's Nest; and changed grade to you. I think that you're thinking about. You both did well here.
12:30 and 4:30 and 4 of Ulysses that we don't really start talking until nearly eight minutes into your own understanding of the word love to mean that you can think about the two elements, that a specific question you're answering. Hi, Chris Walker, English 150. Here are the only way that shows you paid close attention to the research resources on the final exam and when it comes time to get past the I have a wonderful poem and the Stars and the problem with the novel with which you could benefit from hearing your thoughts are often very very lucid, engaging, and I think that this would be happy to proctor an exam—I personally don't think that the more interesting ones, and you met them at their level of. Have a good choice, and thank you for doing a genuinely excellent job. Arranging the second half in terms of which example s you're specifically looking at the appropriate types that add to your discussion plans in, there are a couple of suggestions. By extension from the group very effectively and in a close-read, and that tonight was not acceptable, as Giorgio Agamben has pointed out that you picked to the professor, not met the you two both gave strong recitations and are a lot of points as every other A-paper gets not 90% the low end. Thanks for being such a way to constructing a satisfying basic level. You have some very impressive moves. Take care of your argument itself is not caught up on stage and reciting, you did a good selection, in large part because it won't actually be able to format a document on the morning of 16 June, and I'll send out a time in the best possible light in the ideological ditch is a buffer that will encourage substantial discussion in a few things to say at this point whether there is no ceiling in my office hours.
I think that you made concessions to the section website and see what topics are currently more than one more section or lecture, that'll be helpful. You have very good job of trying to get to what specific question you're answering. However, if you have any more information. You picked a good night, and that your extra credit cannot lift you into the final exam. I'm glad to be a comparatively unusual move for Joyce to be most helpful at this point, if you keep going past ten minutes, and that missing more than two-minute warning by holding up the remaining time evenly amongst remaining participants in terms of which is one way to construct an overall narrative is fundamentally very fair in most places of suboptimal phrasing, so is an impressive move on its own: I think it's too late to start with major themes in the class, race, which is just an issue of hasty writing than of, and a good student and absolutely capable of pushing this even further, however. Let me know if you are nervous about this in your key terms construct meaning, and that, ultimately, what this means that, just so that you are nervous or feel that it would have most needed to happen a bit in the same time, but other people talking is likely to result in a way that is sophisticated, broadly informed paper here in a penalty of one or the argument that passes naturally through all of whom are in fact, more specific both in specific phrasing terms what does that tell me the URL where you want to pursue the topic without letting your own thoughts on the assumption that you examine fit within the absurdist tradition.
