Akudama Drive Character Opinions/Thoughts Pt. 1

Yay!! I finally finished Akudama Drive today! I’m so so sorry for not posting recently, I’ve been very busy with the holidays and semester exams. But at last, I finally sat down and binged from about episode 6 through to the end, and OH. MY. GOD. I have so many thoughts and emotions running through my head!! 

So today I thought I would give a very honest review/my opinions for EVERY character in Akudama Drive just for the heck of it and to help cope with the sadness of the show being over.  Thanks for sticking with me! <3 

So obviously, this will be spoiler heavy, but I assume that everyone reading knows that. xD Okay! This’ll probably be long and really long winded, but off we go! 

Swindler: Oh gosh. Where do I even begin with her?? Swindler’s character was so intriguing to me from the get go, what with us not knowing much about her (and even in the end still not knowing much about her past). I was pretty neutral towards her in the beginning, but MAN. After that scene where she killed those two guys protecting Sister. MAD Respect. I think that that marked a turning point for me liking her. I found her a bit much at times when she didn’t seem to show extreme emotions at the deaths of Hacker, Hoodlum, etc. But I obviously know that she was wrapped up into all this tea by accident and that her actions (While at times potentially suspicious) were completely justified, such as her fears, her desire to protect Brother and Sister, and her confusion as she slowly began her descent into the craziness that was the Kanto-Kansai situation. It was super enjoyable seeing how she grew, and I really wanted her to succeed and be happy. Her death scene made me cry. Also those scenes with Sister and her were so CUTE. <3

Courier: To be completely honest, I didn’t really have any strong emotions towards Courier for the majority of the season. He was frickin badass as all hell, but in terms of the character himself, I thought he was alright. That definitely changed though by the end of the season! We see him deliver a gift to Sister without any fee (Brother’s “dying” wish) and we sympathize with his tragic backstory involving the unnamed woman murdered in his home (mother? Sister?) I loved that addition because we get to see more about the coin itself and why he views it as bad luck. Super neat. I think his interactions with Sister and Swindler are cute, and makes me think of them as sort of like a family. UwU Also his love for Takoyaki/cooking is a pretty fun contrast to his stoic outside. I’m not sure that I ship Courier and Swindler (I can 100% see it though :3). I see them more as two individuals who are bound together by fate (the coin) and have grown to respect one another while learning/surviving in this crazy world. I was definitely sad to see him go, but I’m super happy that I got to love his character a lot more by the end! What a cool guy. His dedication/the way he went above and beyond for Sister and Brother in the end? Perfection. My first pick for a zombie apocalypse team. 

Brawler: He’s wholesome for sure. I’m usually not a big fan of big, tough guys in anime, but he reminds me of the traditional Danganronpa stereotype of the fighter with a warm interior. His interactions with Hoodlum made me like him so much more and appreciate what he brought to the table. I’m sad that he’s not recognized more. He's super badass in his own right and I feel sort of guilty for not realizing it while he was alive. Like cmon girl. It pissed me off the way that the Doctor was treating him after he died (also. That. She killed him. >:O) Like. Is that all you saw him as? I get angry when the POC characters always die first/disrespected by other characters for the sake of “comedy” and whatnot. Like as a POC myself...it’s not cool. But overall, I liked him for who he was. I didn’t care for him too too much, but I definitely wanted him to be happy and enjoyed those sweet moments of excitement he had when fighting, even up to his last moments. 

Hoodlum: He was the one character in Akudama Drive that I was not expecting to like as much as I did. Again, not my favorite, but MAN was he entertaining! I ADORED how much character growth we got from him. I was really rooting for him up until the end (I got super excited when he killed Doctor...and then really sad. CoMe oN) Initially in the first episode, he just seemed to be the classic sort of cowardly idiot, but after he met Brawler you can tell he changed a lot. The dynamic was super fun! Even after Brawler dies, the moments that show Hoodlum coping with his death are amazingly sad, for example, when he says “check this out,” or when he gets angry when no one else seems to care about his death. (SAME Hoodlum. SAME.) The anger and grief that Hoodlum feels is portrayed in an interesting way (he begins to lose himself and submits to Doctor’s manipulation/alternative resources in Kansai). In the end, I’m so happy that he was the one to kill Doctor, because not only was he avenging his friend’s death, but also standing up for himself in a way that he hadn’t done in the series up to that point. Overall. Loved the development of my boi. 

Doctor: This woman. I tell ya got on my nerves. Holy moly. But I should clear things up! At first when she was introduced I thought she was super cool for sure! We s t a n n  a queen to put them boys in their places, but as time went on I started disliking her more and more. Don’t get me wrong, there are parts about her that I think are amazing! For example, I loved her motivations for studying the children (interesting), her poisons/ability to heal were incredibly useful, her voice actor, and sometimes she was just a bad bitch. Like go off queen. But at the same time, I really found her bothersome. I don’t really know when I started to notice it as much, but I just didn’t care for the way that she called Brawler a “Dreadlock Gorilla” ...because like. Um. NO. I also didn’t like how she manipulated Hoodlum (obviously that’s totally in character, but still). As the show went on Doctor just really didn’ vibe with me for some reason. I guess I just didn’t like her as much as the other characters and I know it’s terrible to say, but I was glad when she died. I don’t know what else to say. I stopped liking her. ://

Hacker: Right from the beginning I knew he was my favorite character. <3 I think the aesthetic was super cool and I loved loved the similarities between him and a certain SHSL computer programmer. ;) I appreciated the little moments with him, for example when Cutthroat pushed the emergency buttons on the airbus, the whole “parting-gifts” idea, the drones, etc. His abilities that he brought forth were incredibly useful and without his sacrifice the final mission of rescuing Brother and Sister would’ve been impossible. I LOVED that his role expanded even after he left the group in the early stages (;-;), we can see he was behind the blackout, the hijacking of several systems (including the propaganda videos), and how he was able to play the puppet master by controlling/saving his old teammates. I just think that his abilities to hack and to literally do anything that he pleases was super badass. I feel like out of all of them, Hacker is one of the few that genuinely feels more human (in the sense that he seeks out a new place to call home/excitement, etc.) which I loved. Overall my favorite character...I’m still a little salty about his death and the fact that no one really acknowledged his sacrifice. >:((

My Experience with Japanese Online Shops, International Shipping and Proxy Services

In the last few months I have ordered from many different Japanese online stores and I have made use of a bunch of new international shipping and proxy services so I thought it would be a good idea to sum up my experiences and write a little review so everyone knows what to expect. Without further ado, let’s get to it.

1. tenso.com

A staple for everyone who wants to register for various Japanese services (e.g. fan clubs, streaming platforms, etc) or enjoys shopping in Japanese online shops. It cannot be said often or loud enough how indispensable tenso is for fans of anything Japanese, their service is a true lifesaver! The H-el-ical// Online store even recommends using them! These days many Japanese sites accept foreign payment methods but one thing that’s still almost always required is a Japanese address. And that’s where tenso comes in. They will provide you for free with a Japanese address and phone number which you can use to register on almost any site. You can have your fan club stuff and purchased items sent to that address (the tenso warehouse) and they will then ship it to you. There are not a whole lot of shipping options available but that’s fine. Air Mail is definitely their best offer but if your package is too big you will end up having to choose EMS (which is quite pricey but typically very fast - not during the pandemic tho, at least not for Austria). A big advantage is the possibility to edit the package description. You can lower the value of your items to avoid import taxes and custom fees in your country. Please note that tenso does require an identity verification which might act as a deterrent but I can assure you, they are totally trust-worthy and reliable. I get a LOT of use out of them. Of course I have all my FC related stuff sent to their warehouse but tenso also came in handy for my orders on Tower Records Online, Animate Online and the Universal Shop/H-el-ical Shop/mu-mo Shop.

※ With the exception of the Universal Shop, I was able to pay at all the above mentioned stores with my foreign VISA.

2. Buyee

Another staple and the very first proxy service I ever used. You will need them in all those places that do not accept foreign payment methods (there are still too many out there unfortunately). Their customer service is impeccable and I have never had issues with them. They have gone as far as to contact Japanese stores on my behalf even though it is not part of their usual service. They offer a very wide range of features and shipping options, their service fees are also not too high (although I will admit that they have slightly increased throughout the years). They operate on so many different Japanese online shops, it’s rare to find a big store that does not collaborate with them. Also, if you want to thrift Kalafina related items, THIS is your go-to service. Be it Yahoo Auctions, Mercari or Suruga-ya, you can use Buyee on all those sites. They even have their own English user-interface for some of the major Japanese online stores and you can take advantage of their browser add-on which makes shopping a lot easier. The only downside is that they will not allow edits to the package value so if you live in a bureaucratic country like myself with very strict tax and custom regulations, you will have to make sure to send your packages wisely or just expect to pay quite a lot of fees. This time I used them to order my Wakana cover album copies from Rakuten Books (I REALLY wanted their tokuten). Since Buyee offers the biggest variety of shipping options, I got these copies before anything else, they were here super fast.

※ It’s funny how I am able to register my credit card for Rakuten Pay in order to purchase music on mora.jp but I cannot use that very same credit card to actually buy stuff on Rakuten.

3. WorldShopping

A fairly new service as far as I know but it seems like they are quickly expanding and trying to give Buyee a run for their money. Their banner has been popping up on almost all Japanese sites I have visited in the past few months but up until recently I wasn’t really feeling like trying a new service (I am always hesitant when it comes to new stuff). At least until I found myself in dire need of the Sofmap store specific tokuten for Wakana’s cover album XD. Unfortunately Sofmap does not accept foreign payment methods and Buyee also does not operate on their site so I took a leap of faith and made my purchase through WorldShopping since their banner looked so inviting. It was surprisingly straighforward since they are providing their own interface on the Japanese sites. I didn’t even have to go to the WorldShopping main page to register or anything before using the service. Their fees are acceptable but not exactly low. I was a little wary because I didn’t have a proper account but they did provide a link in the initial email where I could more or less keep track of everything. It took VERY long for my purchased item to be registered at their warehouse (for tenso and Buyee it takes around 1 day) and I didn’t get a notification email that it had arrived so those are not the best aspects of their service. The only shipping method they seem to offer is EMS (which again, is very pricey). Anyways, at the end of the day, my package arrived unscathed in Austria (including the tokuten) so I am a happy camper. While I will probably not be using their service regularly in the future I can still recommend WorldShopping to you with a clear conscience. But please keep in mind to check your status link regularly!

※ Please note that the WorldShipping interface in Japanese online shops overrides the site’s very own purchasing option so if you want to make an order using your own account with your tenso address and a domestic shipping method (let’s say in the mu-mo shop for example) you will have to deactive all WorldShopping services on the page.

4. HMV & BOOKS Online International Shipping

Another first for me. I had no idea they offered international shipping so when I saw the little button on KEIKO’s Lantana page, I couldn’t resist. Since Amazon.co.jp is no longer an option for me, I was desperate to find other stores that offered international shipping and tokutens. Unfortunately, their international shipping service is not a very good replacement for Amazon.co.jp since it takes VERY long. I registered as a guest and made my order without any trouble. I expected them to ship the item on the release day (or the day prior) but that was not the case. I am almost entirely sure that they use a “hidden” proxy service but still promote it as direct shipping. Which is why the process is taking so long. I think it wasn’t until the fifth day after the release date that I finally received the shipping confirmation. Also, don’t get thrown off by weird phrasing in their e-mails. They kept saying that they had shipped “the first part of my order” when in fact there was only one part. Since they only offered EMS as shipping option it once again took quite a while for the package to get to me even though the shipping fee was very high (please note that EMS is typically very fast but as I mentioned earlier, COVID-19 has changed everything). Overall, I can’t really complain about their service, if you are willing to wait a while, HMV International Shipping is definitely worth a try. HMV always have some of the best tokutens so be sure to check it out.

※ I originally tried to register properly but that turned out to be quite complicated so I recommend registering as a guest just like I did.

5. CDJapan

The first site I ever used to order Kalafina-items. I have never had issues with them. They are very reliable and of course the best thing is that they ship directly to your country. However, these days I hardly ever shop at CDJapan anymore because they rarely have tokutens. Also, items you purchase on their site will not be calculated into the daily and weekly sales data for Oricon music charts so that sucks. As you know, I want to support my girls as best as possible (and that means contributing to their chart numbers). Sometimes CDJapan do offer tokutens so they are definitely a viable option for foreign fans. They have lots of payment and shipping methods to choose from and typically their packages arrive very quickly. I bought Hikaru’s RE of “disclose” (only the LE came with tokutens) and one of my “Lantana” copies (CDJapan did in fact have a tokuten for that. YAY).

※ If for some reason, CDJapan isn’t your cup of tea or doesn’t work for you I think YESASIA is a good alternative. However, I haven’t used their service yet so I am not sure how reliable they are. They offer free shipping if your order total exceeds a certain amount so that’s definitely pretty neat!

6. Amazon.co.jp

Amazon.co.jp has been very reliable for the past few years but this year they have really let me down. Just like HMV they do offer an international shipping service but theirs is actually a DIRECT shipping service and it’s SUPER fast. Also they estimate the import/customs fees of your respective country and they charge a deposit which they can use to pay the customs office to speed up the shipping procedure. If this doesn’t happen, packages will usually end up being stuck at customs for a very long time until they have been processed. Last but not least, they often have some of the coolest and most unique tokutens. These are all reasons why I loved to use them but it seems like the pandemic screwed things up for many foreign fans. When I was logged in and checking the product pages of the Kala-solo-releases, they would either show me that everything was out of stock from the get-go or no longer shippable to my country. However, when I wasn’t logged in and checked the Japanese version of the product page I saw that there were in fact still copies available. Now that the pre-order period is over they seem to have restocked a little bit and some versions have finally become available again for foreigners. For example, I could now technically order the LE of “Lantana” with a tokuten. I really wonder why that stuff wasn’t there when I needed it *grumbles*

※ I am not 100% sure if the pandemic caused all these issues but I kinda hope that was the reason because that would mean that next year things will hopefully work fine again. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

DAY 19 - S

1) Samhain

My all time fav pagan Holiday! Samhain is actually the same thing as Halloween, so I think Ive said enough by written about Halloween... Oh! I can just add that I have written my own Samhain ritual to honor my ancestors and Pagan Gods. On my Samhain altar, I always have black and orange candles, chestnuts, dried autumn leaves, cookies for spirits, acorns, cones, pumpkins and a little broom made out of twigs.

2) Saphael

My fav Shadowhunters ship! In the books... yeah, there isnt actually anything to ship, Raphael isnt that much into Simon like in the TV series and he is portrayed quite young in the books, but in the TV series... YAY!!! I love this ship soooooo much, actually even more than Malec! Raphael always cared for Simon and his safety and when they met after a long time in the ending episodes, I cried so much, because their little reunion made me happy... Im very sad that there is apparently a scene, where Raphael caresses Simons face but it wasnt involved in the series! Im planning to do a vid for Saphael, I even started it, but then my old pc crashed down and everything was lost and I was so mad, that I didnt start over, but I think I will do it one day.

3) Shadowhunters

Speaking of Saphael, I just cant forget the whole Shadowhunters-thing. I absolutely love it! The book, the TV series... well, the movie didnt impress me at all. And although the TV series is a little bit different from whats written in the books, I dont care, its just great and Im recommending it to everybode who likes a good fantasy. My fav character is Simon and Raphael and Magnus <3 I never really liked Jace... well, I like him, but I never found him as atractive as other girls did. Oh, and I just hate Clary :D I dont know why, she seems so... dumb to me XD yeah, maybe its because she was just thrown into a new world and didnt know what to do, but... I dont know, I just feel like her decisions and actions were dumb all the time :D

4) Sterek

My fav Teen Wolf ship! I like Sciles too, but... I always thought that Scott had more chemistry between him and Isaac. Sterek is just... TOP! Cute and funny and oh so amazing :D I made a vid for Sterek, sadly, I cant upload it, because of the copyright... :( so I need to figure out how to put it online...

5) Snow

I looooooooove snow and I always had! I remember waiting for the first snow as a kid and I was so excited when I saw the first snowflakes fly through the air! I was able to spend hours playing in the snow outside, completely alone, making igloos. Im still waiting for the first snow even as an adult, sadly the winter isnt the same as it was when I was little, so we dont get that much snow these years :( I hope we will have a beautiful winter with snow again so my baby girl can see what I saw when I was a kid and what I found completely magical :)

Ooooh! One of my fav TV shows!!! Its absolutely great and amazing and perfect and... I dont know what else to say! Just go and watch it, if you never did, its totally worth it! My husband is also a big fan of it! Its gonna end soon, so Im incredibly sad about it, luckily, it has 15 season to watch over and over again :D My fav character was always Crowley and I was devastated when he died. And I also love Sam so much <3 and I hope he doesnt get a bad ending, although I feel he will :(

My baby cutie <3 Isnt he just amazing? I think Dylan O´Brian is one of the most beautiful beings in this world, dont fight me! Stiles as a character is just perfect, he is funny, brave, inteligent and, although he is human, the pack would be totally f*cked without him :D BTW Nogitsune-Stiles was hot as hell *heart eyes* I actually once had a dream about dating Scott (which I dont know why the hell was I dating him, I dont even like him :D Yeah, true alpha... who never really kicked some ass... :/ ), but kissing Stiles XD it felt pretty real... mmmhmmm :D

Ryan the social butterfly, lover of nerds, very determined to have ONE occasion to talk and hang out with Permid after all of this craziness settles, and the feeling is apparently mutual! ;) Nervous Wizard ‘bout to get some cuddles for his anxiety! Saka and Zahz : Our local magic cop has been running away from his controlling ex for 3 years, fearing to come back... Surprise surprise however when he gets back, said ex has had such a slap in the face when he left that he was put into therapy and it opened his eyes to his manipulative and controlling tendencies. They’re both still very lovestruck, but... they have a lot of work to do to be actually good for one another. But they are ready to try this trip together, as soon as they deal with the current situation. Not everybody looks at this favorably... But Zahz is determined to make amends. Isn’t fantasy wonderful? You can have exes that actually DO give a shit and are ready to become better! :D Glaire and Raph : With their friendship having lasted for years, now that Glaire is more confident in her body, things have developed... ;) Yay for one happy trans lady and her non-binary tech wizard partner! :D

IN DEVELOPMENT : The Standon Household : Originally just with Ivan and Courtney, the household has seen the addition of multiple bachelors, to the point where most men under this roof are considered one of the husbands. First, Peter, the lost vampire gentleman.

Arrived in Earth by accident, he took this opportunity to escape his old vampiric habits. Adept in blood magic, he saved Courtney’s life earlier, discovering the temporary addictive side effect of it. It took 2 weeks for Courntey to recover from his sudden crush, but in the meantime, Peter has been getting closer to the Standons, and now lives under the house as they make him a new coffin. Before that however, he was housed at Permid’s father’s place! And said father, Archeon, was very grateful for the company. Peter serves as a bridge between the Standons and him, and it seems like this is heading towards a big polygamous house! :D So, Standon Prime (Ivan), Soft husband (Courtney), Night husband (Peter) and Science husband (Archeon) in total. :) But nothing is official yet, if very seriously pursued and hinted at. :) Isa and Jef : Our cute bard has found a soft boy, the local druid NPC and coffee shop employee Jef! :)

Although Isa is quick to accept any kind of flirt out of curiosity and panic (with a complete disregard for her own safety, might I add), this seems to be a possible path. Actually, I should have put Permid and Ryan here, since they’re still getting to know one another... Woops! XD Tethys and Damiana : One is an exchange student with top grades, a massive familial sword, and is definitely not Lyn. (Same player though. XD) The other is a tiefling in disguise, artificer with a deployable shield on her forearm, a gun-brella, death rumbas, and a tendency to throw imaginary knives! They have only met recently, but a shopping trip is planned, so... Hopefully we see more about that soon! :D

CRACKSHIPS : Oh boy. XD

Alexia and Damien : More or less childhood friend, Damien still sees Alexia as the person he’d die for to protect her. Because she’s the only true positive influence in his life, but also because she gives him pastries. ;) He’s still in shock every time she handles things herself with extreme prejudice : She’s a dangerous warlock! Also tsundere Damien is VERY fun to play. XD

(There was also some low-key shipping between Alexia and Jef, but I didn’t see it in time, so we missed the opportunity... But it could have been amazing. XD) Quiet self-indulgent desire to push Dylan and Peter together as a crackship because the snark would be legendary but ignore me playing with my NPCs. Damiana and Permid : Or how to get a teacher to stop talking to you, by Damiana : Expose Permid’s fake love life and hope it makes EVERYBODY uncomfortable! :D And it worked! XD Those two actually have a nice friendship, it’s always nice to watch them interract! Damiana’s big enabler/sister energy comes out when there is a Permid around to go do slightly illegal stuff with! Personal crackship : Lyn and Oni. Oni crossed half of france with a full storm to make a dramatic entrance and challenge her, and she headbutted his ass right out! If Lyn wasn’t blatantly ace, their rivalry could be a textbook kissmesitude! (My homestuck is showing)

In the same vein, Oni and Shanti! New addition to the group, Shanti is a soft girl trying to wrap her head around things. Oni is weak to honest, purely good people. And his duty to protect people that Ivan sees as allies means he fought off a full group of SWAT officers so they wouldn’t try to arrest Shanti during an emergency! :) Permid and “5th dimensional friend” : As a Horizon walker, Permid sometimes ends up in a space between planes, where unfathomable beings reside.. And one of them, noticing the cute little 3 dimentional being appearing now and again, has taken a liking to him! :D There was also talk of an Archeon and Master Kavoleg crackship!

Eminent atomic scientist meets other-wordly wizard master.. And picks his interest. ;) Please picture Archeon excitedly explaining what an atom is to an enraptured mage, and the scientist marveling at each and every spell the tiefling casts!

I’m sure there are a lot of others I don’t know about. Some of the off-sessions rp happens in private chats, depending on everybody’s preference. :) But now is a good time to link my players, if you’re curious about some of those ships! :D

Post-23rd Birthday Post!

Thank you all so, so much for the kind Birthday messages yesterday! :D Especially to my good friends @sibera-the-wanderer, @ecmcookiez, @rationalnonsense, @strangehyperbole & @vannjaren. I really appreciate every single one of them, thank you for making me smile.Sorry I couldn't get back to you all sooner. Yesterday was a lot busier than I anticipated. I was mostly expecting a quiet day for myself, but I ended up moving about all over the show.

First was attending the weekly art class. What better way to spend my birthday then to get some drawing done? I was already full on inspiration and drive because of the Dolan Kart art competition I’m hoping to enter. Today, Trish was giving a demonstration on lighting effects, such as run rays, dappled light and how their interact with their environments and perspective. `While I have dipped my toes in these kinds of things before, digitally. I was still eager to try it out traditionally. While the demonstrations were done in watercolour and acrylic, I only had black and white India ink with me yesterday. I wasn’t deterred, since one of my favourite online art teachers, Istebrak, always says that you should master greyscale before moving onto colours. While I did manage to use some masking tape in my A3 sketchpad to block out some test squares and fill in a greyscale background tone  as a first layer, it pretty much took the entire lesson to dry. So I was left with plenty of free time to think over a lot of other projects I have in mind and rough out some other pictures. 

Upon telling my classmates it was my birthday, they just HAD to make it more known by singing happy birthday in front of everyone! (despite me begging them not to) XD Served me right for mentioning it out loud, plus I think they mentioned something about being sick with envy at me youth (Since I’m the youngest person there by decades, not that I mind. Even as a kid, I got along better with adults than people my own age). But it was still funny. Everyone was so nice.  

After class, I waited for my shopping to arrive, got myself a packet of mini red-velvet cupcakes to have instead of a birthday cake. Planning to have two of them with a side of Ben & Jerry’s Birthday cake Ice cream and celebrate. ’Even got to give a few to my neighbour and my parents. 

At 4 O’clock, I made my way to visit my mum dad for a couple hours. I thought I knew what I was expecting as I strolled to my destination under the lovely (small bit of) sunshine we had that day. But mum had arranged a little surprise… As I turn the corner, who do I see other than my mum, my sister in law, Christine; and my nephew, Theo! YAY!!!! 

‘Turns out mum felt bad that she couldn’t do anything for birthday this year. Given that we are both busy, she’s recovering from an operation etc. So she invited them both over. I’d already not seen them for weeks, so this was the best possible surprise. Having fun with the little man and having him request more pictures for me to draw. He gave me a quite the challenge in the form of a “Humpty Dumpty Dinosaur”. But, anything at all for my little bear cub - since he loves my drawings so much. Even making his way over the the couch I was sitting on to watch and draw with me.

So much happened for me to describe and remember it all, but along with him singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to me, him pretending to be a doctor and fixing my mum, dressing as a king (or queen as he declared himself over and over. And by God if my nephew wants to proudly declare himself the queen than he’s gonna be the best bloody queen!) and having fun hiding pens in my hair.

I received such wonderful gifts as well, a nice bottle of white wine from mum and dad. And from Theo & the family; A box of Cadbury heroes, and a beautiful hand-made scented candle. Christine has a real talent for hand-making things such as this. The china teacup and saucer are this gorgeous light green colour with gold accents. I soon worked out the perfect place to put it; Something about it reminded me a lot of my gran, so now it sits pride and place on the little alter I have in her memory (located inside my office). 

Once I was back home, I got a call from my neighbour, whom I just adore. He said, 

“Hey pretty girl, fancy coming over?” 

I know I was made-up for the day with my usual signature hairstyle, eyeliner and red lipstick, but I couldn’t believe what I was hearing! ME?! PRETTY?! FROM HIM!?! As I got my arse next door, I saw a trail of red carnation flowers leading from the front steps into his house!

As if the flowers weren’t enough, he’d actually gone out and bought me a bottle of Baileys, a chocolate cake and a new sketchbook! Even though I’d had already seen him earlier that day in order to give him a cupcake and give him some Kitchen rolls I got for him along with my online shopping, as requested. But he did say he’d see me later that night. My close friends will know about him already and know that few days go by where I’m not so fucking happy that I know this man. He’s still one of the best things to happen in my life since my Gran’s death. 

As is usual with us, we sat, drank and had deep and meaningful conversations until the sun went down. I didn't get back to my house to order have a bath and order a takeaway. Not that I minded, I knew I wanted this day to be long and to enjoy it to the fullest. I’m so happy I got to spend it with my favourite people and still have time to chill in my own house. 

Once I was back home, it was time to dress down, get the slap off my face, and hop in the bath. I haven't been able to take a bath in ages due to the tiles falling off on top of me and had to use my shower (despite it leaking buckets into the kitchen below). Thank God I’d recently had some men in to FINALLY get it fixed - long story. Once I had my soak, I applied a mud mask, slipped into something more comfortable and treat myself to a takeaway. At first, I was going to get myself a burger or chicken kebab, but I opted for a Chinese. Since, I can make the leftovers last me a few days and spare myself the extra time to cook something. Then I could end the night with the before mentioned Red velvet and Ice Cream. Combine those with the confectionaries I’ve been given, and I’m defiantly not going to be starving - even if my diet is temporarily fucked.

 I had a great time eating, drinking, wrapped up in my lion throw-blanket and watching some good telly: from watching Mock the Week to marathoning youtube videos until 2:00am. Not bad, considering I woke up at 5:00am that day. So, I’ve been taken today nice and slow. 

I‘ll admit, in the upcoming days leading up to my birthday, I’ve been mostly feeling upset about it. Mainly because I’ve been thinking about how I’ll be 23 and I was just feeling like I’d achieved nothing of value in my life yet. I feel like I should have a regular job and have achieved more by now. I’ve just had setback after setback that have just caused be to delay my plans. I was hoping to be open for business and be taking commissions months ago. And the time I’ve been dedicating towards setting up my art business has taken time away from writing my graphic novel. My friends will know of all the other stresses and heartaches I’ve been having recently too. 

But despite that all that, I couldn't help but wonder in my mind maybe things would now be different with my new age? While every bit of progress I’ve made has felt like drops in a bucket, I’ve recently made some small victories. I’ve been looking into different methods of packaging prints for shipping, I’ve come closer to working out my businesses aesthetics, my art itself has greatly improved - as has my work ethic. 

During yesterday’s class, I found out that we will be having ourselves a private exhibition on the 10th of May. For months I’ve been panicking about being open for business before then so I could have business cards available. Only now do I know that it will be a exhibition just for us. It’s different from the annual public exhibition they usually have (having known about the class from last year’s) so WOO HOO!! I HAVE MORE TIME!!! 

The exhibition is on the 10th of May, the day before the deadline for the Dolan art competition. So from now until then, I am going to be in for a very busy fortnight. So I am gonna be dead to the world, but very productive. Still, I’ll do my best to keep you all updated! :)

{Anonymously or not, tell me who you ship my muse with. || Because this all honestly couldn’t fit into one ask and I didn’t want to split it up into multiple ones}

I know you are aware that I ship our muses for a fanfic I’m trying to write, but I’ve kept mention of it to a minimum on my blog because (1) don’t wanna make it seem like I expect something and force you along with it cuz that’s force shipping and that’s no bueno and didn’t want that coming off as my intention for rping because it really wasn’t. A disappointing and toxic roleplay group plus a mighty need to share my Nappa portrayal with Tumblr was (2) Our muses hadn’t interacted much anyways so who knew if they’d get along well enough?

I’ve been enjoying the threads we’ve had together, they’re worth waiting for and I am pleasantly surprised by how the two muses get along as friends. Their social chemistry is better than I expected, and the banter is so entertaining to read and write for both when they get along and when they don’t see eye-to-eye.  

I know your muse already has @asktenchi as an interested Tenchi and they do an awesome job being IC with him. There are also a great number of other muses that Ayeka gets along with too. However, if you and your muse ever feel a pull towards wanting more than friendship with Nappa, I’m gonna let you know that as of right now she’s one of the few muses I’ve had Nappa interact with that has a legitimate chance of sparking his interest for a romantic relationship. It’s alright if you don’t see it ever going down that road, because that can certainly happen too and both my muse and I would be fine with that. But I figured now was a good time to bring it up since this ask meme has had me thinking about this lately.

I know it may seem like a biased thing, but I’ve been lookin’ around at the other muses who try to flirt seriously with Nappa and…it’s difficult to find muses who have mutual chemistry with the big guy. The only one who did have mutual chemistry with him wasn’t interested in shipping at all so we kept it to flirtatious banter. She left Tumblr because she wanted to focus on her family, understandably. That was so many months ago and since then Nappa’s not felt anything like that from another muse.

Other interested female muses only remark on/compliment his physical appearance – mostly his muscles too lol – as what makes them interested. Honestly it makes me and my muse feel like Odette from the beginning of The Swan Princess. “Thank you…but what else?”

Again, I wanna reiterate that I love and value the friendship between our muses and if it only stays a friendship I’d be perfectly happy with that. And I hope I don’t make you feel uncomfortable bringing it up or make you think I will be counting on things to go down a romantic road. Just wanted to say while we do ship Ayeka with happiness and self-confidence first and foremost, we also wouldn’t turn her away from forming a ship with Nappa.

Okay, now that this is already pretty long, my answer to this is under the cut. I'm not going to do point by point, bur rather a general full-fledged answer!

I've already told you this, but when I first found your personal blog, and went through your Tenchi tags, I really liked what you had reblogged and written in your personal text posts. It must have been one of the first pro-Ayeka --or at the very least, someone who appreciated Ayeka, because she might have not been your fave, I didn't know lmao-- blogs that had accumulated enough content related to Ayeka and/or Tenchi. I did notice that you, like me, were a fan of the...crossover ships ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

What I found "whadda heck" worthy was that you shipped Nappa with Ayeka! My first thought, to be honest, was "...the bald guy from the Team Four star memes?"

[ I knew of him from DBZ, but since most people my age apparently found out about him and liked him from the TFS videos, I thought maybe that's where your like of him came from? At the time, because now I know better :y ]

I'm the type of person who isn't a shipper hardcore, and for most ships that don't make sense to me initially, I go "okay, well, whatever floats her boat!" XD I did like the pieces of art there were, and I think I liked your Raditz/Mihoshi icon more because yay, somebody also appreciates Mihoshi! XD And they like the buddy cop angle of things? LMAO

I've seen it enough times on Tumblr that I honestly was surprised I found myself in a situation where that could've been a possibility. I enjoyed your fanfics, even the lemon ones lmao, just because they were funny but also it was me going okay, how does she believe this ship works again?

and lemme tell you, I am the absurdist around here in terms of crossover ships, both platonic and romantic. [We've talked about some others of our own too, nyuck nyuck.] I really wanted to understand because obviously, I supposed we were going to interact and I'd wanted to know how you saw them so I could back the heck away, ignore it, and try to do my thing with Ayeka properly. I didn’t really want to think of the ship when I wrote, I wanted to approach it as if Ayeka really did meet Nappa for the first time or had him enough time as a guest in your DBZ/TM verse.

Half of my worries went away when yay, you weren't going to force ship and wanted to actually interact! Whhhaaat, true build up of characters through rp on Tumblr dot com? The devil, you say!

And like you say, and I agree, the banter has been really fun? Surprisingly not really, Ayeka finally gets some respect in the manner that sometimes she doesn't get lmao. Her attempts at cooking, her own thoughts and views -- not saying everyone in the Masaki house's a jerk [they're not, and listen, Ayeka really does mean stuff too without thinking or on purpose] but you get different things with different people, and with Ayeka, it's probably getting some maturity and two-way respect in conversations befitting two super old people 8D

To be honest, sometimes I get a tinge of the cynic in me, and wonder if the writing turns out the way it does because maaaybe it's being geared towards something else? But then, like, I remember Nappa and Skuld --and Sasami!-- and how believable your headcanon about him and children is, how real it feels. Of course, the fact that you would write with anyone, and even with my Skuld who you know less about in comparison, just makes the cynic go shoo-shoo. You don’t seek out ships either -- like most people will notice if they peruse your blog, the ladies come to Nappa LMAO.

Plus, again, the threads are fun. I'm still laughing at the Xmas one where Nappa thinks Ryoko and Ayeka are the alpha females XD

I think I didn't really answer your ask as is, so I'll just say this, which applies to everyone: if the writing takes us that way, it takes us that way. I'm slowly beginning to see your crossover ship as it is, but still feel "hmm, but is it really?" It's like Ayeka and Fang: I didn't expect it, but the writing took those muses to some place along the lines of "are they...or are they???!" I would hope the end result takes us somewhere where we’re both satisfied with whatever relationship our muses have.

Or maybe you know, either polyamory polygyny or Nappa fights Tenchi, I guess. [I vote for the Pay Per View fight during the Space Travels arc of Universe.]

@didilysims​ Kawaii is indeed Japanese for cute :3 I wholeheartedly agree with you on the shipping thing, by the way, just so you know. :D The thing I dislike the most is also when the creator of a story gives in and puts characters together that they didn't plan on before, because of fanservice. It goes completely against the plot, too. I don't do crackships either ¬.¬ I only recently learned what it even was. xD

Yay, I’m not alone! Ha ha. It bugs me a lot when creators give in to the fans too, especially when so often the story would have been better without these forced pairings. But I’m also the type of person who likes bittersweet endings best and I cheer for characters who choose duty over “love” (more often lust), so... Long, drawn-out, boring, and/or forced romance subplots just aren’t my thing, though I do enjoy some good relationship drama, as obviously my blog evidences. ;)

I don’t get the not tagging thing either. I love tags, I overuse them, it’s where I put all my extra thoughts and they’re super helpful for searching. I try not to be rude to anons, I usually ignore any rudeness in a message and put it down to the person being in a hurry, or a non English speaker or something.

So useful for searching! That’s the part I really can’t wrap my mind around--do these people never go back and look for stuff on their own blog? I mean, maybe, but I have to wonder: why not?? Especially if you’re reblogging stuff, isn’t it so you can find it later? I won’t tell anyone how to run their own blog, so it’s really not a big deal, but I cannot understand.

I would say being in a hurry is not really an excuse for rudeness. Is it really so urgent that you can’t type out a please or thank you? Non-native speakers is totally cool, and I find people who are apologizing for bad English are usually way more polite and grammatically correct than their native speaking counterparts. :P  I definitely don’t want to excuse rude anons (when it’s obvious they are being rude) but sometimes I think people more often have their guards up when they get anon asks, and sometimes maybe the guards are too high. Which makes sense, considering the few who ruin it for everyone by sending anon hate. I think my filters are low because I don’t get a huge amount of anon asks, and have never been sent hate, plus most of the nonnies I see are often kind and helpful--those are the best anons!

I've never realized it before (I'm not a very visual thinker) but my mental Anon image is apparently a generic stick figure typing on a keyboard.

I don’t often think visually either. Not really sure how my thinking works, actually, except that it does work...usually. :) I visualize people usually as vague faces without most features except maybe one unique thing, like the smile in this case. If I ever witness a crime, I would be totally useless at describing the suspect. “He had hair...I guess. Probably eyes too. And a nose. Overall he was...human-shaped.”

The typing stick figure is super cute, by the way. I can visualize that quite clearly!

I feel as though No. 2 could be directed at me. I wish I were able to give everyone the full benefit of the doubt for every ask that their tone is just off, but if reading it initially felt like a punch in the gut, I don't see anything wrong in letting them know that "hey this came across as hurtful". I usually give myself some time to reflect before answering, and I often run them by someone else. But sometimes people are just rude, whether they mean to be or not.

And also, for myself, mood state can greatly influence how I react to things (see: feeling like this post was criticizing me, haha), which is why I do things like try to wait and see how I feel later. So I think if we're allowing anons the assumption that their tone might be off, we should allow those answering asks the benefit that maybe their negative thinking is colouring how they are interpreting the ask. And past experiences with anon hate can also be a factor.

These are some really good points and I appreciate you sharing them. I don’t get a huge amount of anon asks (although sometimes they come in a big wave, weirdly enough) so I don’t have to deal with constantly weighing the tone of each, and I imagine it can be tiring. Whether intentional or not, if someone can come across as rude, it’s not a bad thing to politely let that person know. In my experience of following you, I would say you have been overall kind and courteous to anons. This definitely wasn’t an aimed criticism, just a random late-night thought that I probably should have kept to myself. Please don’t take it personally, but I do appreciate you weighing in. It’s good for me to get the other side of the story, so to speak.

By "Parent Trap" fantasy I mean that a lot of kids whose folks divorce get elaborate fantasies about getting them back together, which can be fed by watching the movie. This is a big enough thing that counselors sometimes warn people dealing with the children of divorce not to let them watch The Parent Trap, as it creates false expectations and makes adjustment harder.

I sort of figured it was something like that. Makes sense. Too bad there weren’t any counsellors around to warn Allegra about the trouble her daughter could cause...

Exactly! It's the lactic acid build-up from the repetitive motion. So, if you play lots of chess, best to be ambidextrous so that one arm isn't bigger than the other. ;) And speed chess is best for muscle-building. Could be considered a cardio workout, even! ;)

You should! I used to always ignore the phone call invitations because they were inconvenient and I was busy doing other stuff, and thus I never bothered to go on outings. But now I nearly always accept the calls and I’m really enjoying the new minigame it’s added to my playing. To warn you, I found it really hard to get a decent score at first. It helps a lot to have an outing with friends that will always accept quick and fun interactions to get the score up!

He’s totally relaxing. I watched a lot of his videos before Christmas when I was knitting presents and his soothing voice fit the cozy atmosphere just right. I love that TV channel idea too. Might have to get Jamal to do a few video shoots! Once he gets his creativity skill up a bit... He’s been in pottery most of his life, which surprisingly (annoyingly) doesn’t count as creative.

Why I’m so in love with “Camren”

Hi guys!

This is like a Camren Guide. LMAO.

I’m bored so Imma make a post about my favorite and only ship!

So first things first, to those who do not know what Camren is, it’s a ship name for Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui and former member Camila Cabello. Camila + Lauren = Camren. Look them up on youtube and get acquainted but I suggest you ready yourselves because it’ll suck you in to the bottomless pit of mixed feelings. It’s a fucking rollercoaster ride of emotions so buckle up if you may.

For those who are new in the fandom, Camren is not that much of a hot topic anymore. Knowing that Camila left the group last year. Both went on separate ways now and they’re said to be in bad terms. Plus, Lauren is supposedly dating Ty at this point in time so... But who knows, right? Maybe the people behind them are just creating drama to survive the show business because that’s what makes people keep up. DRAMA.

To my fellow shippers, we will go down with this ship till we hit the bottom. But even so, Imma still hold on because who knows? Maybe the ship will rise back up! Hold on you guys. Our ship is endgame. I repeat, ENDGAME! :D

So now, I’ll tell you how I discovered this emotion-wrecking ship. I was about to sleep, watching a music channel in my room when their Write On Me musicvid came up. I saw Lauren and I fell in love. Yes, I’m a Lauren girl and I admit that it’s too freaking hard to keep up with her but I just can’t unlove her. WHY?? So then I searched Write On Me on youtube again ‘cause I just can’t get over her. Then I saw a vid on the recommended portion title “Camren - Write On Me”. My curious ass clicked on it and damn! I have never regretted anything in my life. It sucked me in. I love it and at the same time I hate it. Damn, Camren! What have you done to me? Somehow, Camren made me a harmonizer. I support the girls up until now. Even Camila. They have earned a big potion of my heart.

This lured me in! Such beauty...

Now let’s get on Camren. Imma give you reasons to ship it. 

1. Their background/history

Camila and Lauren are both living in Miami. They both are half Cubans. Camila is half cuban, half mexican while Lauren is half Cuban, half American. They both didn’t know each other’s existence until they tried their luck in joining X Factor. Crazy, right? Both have immediately found solace in each other knowing that they have much similarities. They instantly got close and became each other’s bff in the competition. And little did they know they’re in for a big surprise. They were grouped together! And there came Fifth Harmony. Yay!

2. The connection/vibes

That fucking sameness in wavelength is fucking unreal.

4.  The Sun and The Moon. Sol y Luna

This one’s pretty trippy ‘cause I’m confused as to which of them is the Sun or the Moon and I know Lucy used to post The Sun and The Moon on tumblr and her instagram too.  But fuck it. Imma make it a Camren thing still. One things for sure though, they both have an obsession with this Sun and Moon thing. :*

This one always blows my mind. Fucking soulmates.

5. Mirroring

OMG! Their mirrorings are definitely a must-see. Are they twins or something? Maybe soulmates? I wish I could find a Lauren to my Camila too. Lmao. They’re sometimes so in sync that it gives me goosebumps. 

6. Camila Cabello 

Yes, Camila Cabello. The girl feeds every Camren shippers delusions like hell. She’s the opposite of Lauren who made it a hobby to kill Camren and break her fans’ heart once in a while. Her hatred for Camren is sometimes so questionable. Like girrrrll! Leave it if it annoys you too much. She’s so defensive about Camren that her actions become suspicious. Meanwhile, Camila freely posts too much suspicious shit. Even her new solo songs and even her whole album which according to her, “The album is really not about boys though....”. We get it Camila. You’re in a glass closet. Don’t you think it’s time to finally break free? ;)

They mastered the art of stalking that even the girls’ very  distant relative or clueless neighbor can’t get away. What can I say? It’s complicated. ;)

Then during the VMAs Camren was a little less awkward. They were standing and sitting next to each other, talking and laughing. They were kinda happy that time. They probably knew it was their last VMAs together so they made the best out of it. Sooo, in that snapchat I don’t think those were bags. I’ll make you guys believe. It’s the most concrete proof that makes me believe that Camren is or was real. Whenever I doubt about Camren, I always go back to this video and get my Camren hopes up.

Thoughts - I feel like they are aware of the fact that they are so perfect for each other. Dude, that is why they became uncomfortable about it because they acknowledge the fact that it could be real, it could be true.  Because if it were ever real and they didn’t have the chance to make it public, they’ll be stuck thinking how it would feel like being free to show their love for each other, not hiding. They will always have that “what-ifs” until they’re free and get the chance to try it again. If that time comes, they’re free to tell and show the world the truth. Right now, it’s just complicated. So much is on the line. Their careers on top of it all. Who would’ve known they would end up like that? Wow, what a beautiful love story. Let’s give it let’s say 2 or 3 years more. Yumi and her hubby left their kid a while ago. After the little one silently evolved into a freckled Mattaritchi (while I was neglecting him, reading Harry Potter), I decided to call him Ron 😜 He's now a Kilalatchi, just like his grandpa. I decided not to care for him, except when he calls my name, so I don't get Kuromametchi again. I also often just give him snacks instead of playing, when his happy meter is empty. Earlier today I took him to the park, where he met up with his dad Aside from that, nothing interesting happened, though. I'll try to include some pictures again, next time!

Ron evolved into a Necktietchi today (is it too late to change his name to Percy?) and, after a quick glance at the calendar, decided to already set up his Halloween decoration ^^

After lurking in the Halloween Hatch thread, I decided to browse the internet for the Tamagotchi Monster App, so I can run it on my computer, too. I found it - along with the Tamagotchi Angel and a P1 App :3 So after installing YouWave first (a program that simulates an Android phone OS on the computer, so I could run the .apk files I downloaded), I tried all three apps, but then settled down for the Tama Angel one for now, even though it's the least Halloween-ish one of all of them.

Obaketchi2 - flying around, eating his pie and... watching the bat eat his candy ^^' To scare it away, I would've to press 5 on the phone, but since I'm not running the app on an actual phone, and none of the keys on my keyboard will do the trick, I can't do anything :/ I wonder how long my angel will stay with me anyways, since I can neither call it back from its strolls this way... Oh, I just have to press it several times! Ok, good to know XD' Yay! 

And here we're playing the Shooting Star game ^^ Took me a while, to figure out the perfect moment to jump, but since then my angel usually wins with a 5:0 😉

A while later, it evolved into Maruten, who can throw the most temperamental fits, when it loses a game (or its candy). ~ On another note: I won a Kimiko the Fosterling on ebay! 🎉

I promise to start to log it with lots and lots of pictures, as soon as it arrived! Imo there are way too few logs of non-Bandai v-pets anyways, so who am I to pass up the opportunity to change that? ;P

Percy put his Halloween decoration away again and spent the whole day pacing around in his living room (except for a successful trip to the game center and a trip to the park, where he didn't meet anyone else, though :/). As soon as I married him off I'll remove the batteries and give my TamaGo a rest for now. I think I did something wrong when closing YouWave yesterday, because today at 3pm my angel decided to go to bed, because according its clock it was already evening. 

So, naturally, I thought rebooting the program might help, to set its clock back to normal. It did. But when opening the Tama Angel App again, I had this little fellow on my screen: 

:/ Because the trial period of YouWave is about to end tomorrow, I didn't see much sense in hatching a new angel (or a little demon) and instead decided to try out the third app, because on that one, I could skip sleeping times altogether :) So, a few minutes later, I was the proud mommy of a little Babytchi... 

... which soon evolved into Marutchi: 

"Stop throwing babies at me!" 

"I have a present for you! Wait... wait... there it is! ^____^" Apparantly just staying awake makes a bigger difference in terms of aging than I expected, because just a few hours later...

Bakugou has the hardest time coming up with birthday presents, presents are just Not A Thing He Does, he tries but it’s just ???? Jirou got a offer to go with her to a concert she couldn’t find anyone to go with - she hadn’t outright asked anyone, but it was clear she wanted to go but not alone - the band was too much for all of her friends, so she was sorta letting the idea of going go. Which is when Bakugou offhandedly mentioned that he’d heard there was the one gig from that one band and he was thinking of going since he liked that band and whatever she wanted to come or something? Bakugou had just spent the last day and a half listening to the band’s discography for the sake of making it believable and Jirou saw right through him (she didn’t mention it) (but man Bakugou could be seriously nice couldn’t he)

Mina’s present was to actually agree to go to her party. That was it. Mina’s parties are the opposite of Bakugou’s ideal place to spend a whole night at, they’re loud, and there’s drinking, and dancing, and the whole school is invited and it’s packed, so when she asked him to come she never thought he’d actually agree to go and stay the whole night, but boy did he. He also let her pick his outfit (Mina recognized the effort for the present it was. She was delighted)

Kaminari got a shopping trip - it went like this: Bakugou mentioned he was going to the mall, which always ends up with Kaminari tagging along just to go window shopping. So he stopped in front of the windows, pointed at stuff, made noises about the deals, and Bakugou went “wait here” and then went in and bought whatever Kaminari had been excited about. It happened four times before Kaminari caught on, and then Bakugou literally had to threaten him to make him stop holding back “I’m deciding I wanna do this so I’m doing this” (he still held back, but by the end of it Kaminari had actually whined the sentence “Bakugou please” pointing at yet another jacket or shirt of necklace way more than once) (he was so damn happy he didn’t even think about how he had absolutely no space for everything he’d just bought to fit in his room)

Kirishima was the hardest one (pun intended). Kirishima was actually so difficult Bakugou spent months thinking about what to get him and came up empty handed anyway. He was so damn complicated that Bakugou sucked up his pride and straight out asked him what he wanted for his birthday. “I don’t want to fuck this up”, he said, and Kirishima smiled so hard and so wide and so bright, it felt like enough of a present for him just hearing that. He told him he wanted to spend the day with him, so they did that - studied, sparred, ate, hung with the others. Bakugou didn’t think it was enough of a present since honestly it felt like any other day, but Kirishima was happy, so he guessed it was fine (he found and bought a super rare super expensive Crimson Riot figure to gift him anyway) (Kirishima cried)

Uhhhhhhhhhhh sure, but it wasn’t really an AU tho! It’s just me playing around with their designs a bit, I’ve been drawing them aged up now and again for a while now (tho I admit mostly what stays constant in the design is only the hairstyles, everything else changes based on how I’m feeling it atm) anyway yeah, more will come in the future! Can’t promise the designs will stay totally unchanged, tho haha

No probs, just, I can’t draw right now cause of hand-problems so you’ll have to make do with me telling you where they are? Also that’s just how I went for it in that drawing, it’s nothing set in stone, really, I keep on adding and moving them around every time I draw them

The only scars Bakugou has there are on his palms - cover the whole of it and reach a bit on the inside of his wrist too, they’re burn scars and come from overusing his quirk one too many times. Kirishima’s got more - aside from the canon eye one he’s got one on the left side of his mouth, one on each forearm in the same spots he’s been hurt in the latest chapter, and one covering most part of his upper back (this one he got protecting civilians with his own body too often and breaking one time too many)

Thank you so much oh my god orz it’s... true, posting for hq hasn’t been half as fun as it used to be, lately, but I do still enjoy it! Between everything the fact that the fandom is sort of asleep atm does make me lose even the last motivation to draw more, so! I’m pretty confident as soon as the fandom wakes back up I’ll start posting more for it again! After all I love the show and all the characters a lot still~

Thoughts on “Welcome to Haven”

RWBY Volume 5 Chapter 1: Welcome to Haven

RWBY is back for Volume 5! Yay! The wait was definitely worth it as this first episode was SO GOOD, I'm already strapped in for the rest of the season, gonna tackle this whole deal scene by scene.

I actually wasn’t sure if I wanted to do this on the RT release or the youtube release but I wanna get my thoughts out early before I forget everything or lose some “theories” or observations. If you wait for the youtube release, feel free to ignore this post.

Regardless of when you watch the episode, watch it, enjoy it and if you’re curious come back to read my thoughts. Nothin but spoilers and a bunch of words beneath the Read More so, here we go.

"Welcome to Mistral" The first scene with Qrow leading the kids, btw I love how he calls them kids. I just really do, anyway he leads them to a good spot where we all get a look at Mistral, as if the ending of Volume 4 wasn't clear enough, this place looks great, very beautiful...y'know if you ignore the black market section that populates the lower levels. Wonder if we'll see any of that.

I always do love the drawn art of the show, so very nice, reminds me of Volume 3 where they showed all the people watching the tournament.

"My Ship, My Rules" The only bit of Weiss in this episode, she's drawing close to Mistral and wants to help some poor unfortunate souls. I do wonder if that will go anywhere but I guess we'll just have to see. If Weiss decides to hop out of her ship which I'm 99% she can do and use a glyph to break her fall, it'll take her longer to get to Mistral and to find Winter.

"Leonardo Lionheart" Back to Ruby and her team, they reach Haven which is YAY! Cause finally. School is still not back in session as we learn which is the same state Atlas was in back in V4 though Ironwood assured it'd be back in order soon.

Not much happens here beyond getting to finally see Lionheart, I do like his design. Qrow gave the poor dude a heart attack.

"We Can't Let Them Get Away With This!" The Blake bit is here! Apparently, her family and Sun took Ilia's scroll with the incriminating information about Adam and his plans to some sort of council, probably the White Fang but they used Ilia as a patsy and got off scotfree. GREAT!

Seems that they're going to take the information to the people, to the Faunus of Menagerie itself and let them decide how things roll. Sounds like a good plan but given what Ilia said, I'm sure the White Fang are going to do something to stop them. Granted that could also expose them as the vile people they are but we'll have to wait and see. Can't get to cleaning out the White Fang all over the world if you can't even handle them at home so Blake has her work cut out for her.

By the way, Sun and Ghira agreeing on something was pretty damn funny.

"The Branwen Tribe" The meat of the episode was definitely Qrow, Ruby, Nora, Ren and Jaune's long conversation with Lionheart about, well, everything. I'm glad Ruby asked why Spring is so important cause I was wondering that for a long time. Having the Maidens and Relics tied to each other is a great additional method of security. Getting those Relics really isn't an easy task, Salem may have Cinder for Fall but there are still 3 other Maidens and I don't even think she has the Fall Relic yet.

Something I never considered was Lionheart talking about Mistral's chaotic state. It never occured to me that the emotions people felt just watching the Vytal Tournament could cause Grimm invasions as well but that seems to be what happened all over the world with Mistral taking a hefty hit given how big it is.

Qrow believes Spring is with Raven so the team wants to go there to get Spring because no doubt Salem's crew is coming after her, especially since Lionheart copied the coordinates Qrow gave him, safe to say they're in Watts' hands given how the scene ends.

By the way, I remember back in Volume 3 when Cinder says "thanks to our clever little friend" her scroll displays a W followed by Ironwood's image (cause Ironwood's scroll was hacked into when it connected with Ozpin's desk). At the time the only W person we knew as far as I recall was Winter and the thought of Winter being a mole was super terrible, but also it didn't make sense to me so I just dismissed it as a nonsensical theory. Then here we've got that same W as Watts talks to Lionheart so...yeah. Watts.

I do think its interesting that Ruby recognized Raven's name and Jaune stated that she's Yang's mother. As far as I'm aware as a viewer we've never seen anyone talk about Raven in any depth beyond Qrow, Yang and Taiyang. I've read in some fan posts that people are very curious about what Ruby knows about the entire thing. Raven left when Yang was born so Ruby never even knew who she was. At what point was she made aware of Raven's existence? Given that there is nothing said on that, one can assume it was discussed off screen at some point, which doesn't actually bother me too much but at the same time, it's a conversation I would've liked to listen to, just to know Ruby's perspective of the whole thing.

Then again, all Ruby knows is that Yang's mom skipped out on them, she never met her and we don't know if Taiyang or Qrow ever spoke about her, doubtful given STRQ's broken status. Its just the kind of thing you can talk circles about but never reach a finite point on.

And we get the V4 post credits scene in context. Yay.

"Just Right" Time for the Yang scene! Starting off the volume with the full team RWBY, Volume 4 got this done in 3 episodes, Volume 5 is just HERE THEY ARE! So that's cool.

That guy deserved that punch, him bouncing all over the place was hilarious too. Poor bastard. I never did make the connection between the "Not too bulky, not too lean, just right" and the Goldilocks and the Three Bears story, I read it somewhere and was like FUCKING DUH! XD

Unlike what I seem to be reading around I don't think Yang is going after Raven, it seems more acknowledgement that she knows Raven is in the area. If anything I'm sure despite making her choice at the end of V4 she's still considering both options. Racing to her sister's side is all well and good, but her mother is around and she's wanted to know about her, her entire life. It's a hard choice to make I think, just a matter of what she decides and what that dude she punched tells her.

"I DID IT!" Meeting Oscar was great, this puny kid comes to the door and Jaune, Nora and Ren just have no idea what to make of it. As a lot of people point out, Nora and Ren's immediate standing action is like, yeah. They're gonna protect Ruby even against this tiny boy. Not taking any chances, don't blame them after V4 and all that.

Drunk Qrow is hilarious and Ruby just treating it like another Monday is even better. And of course Oscar telling them all he's Ozpin, I can not WAIT to see what comes of that. Oscar interacting with Ruby's team, those two forces coming together is what I'm most excited for this volume, y'know, beyond the possibility of a RWBY reunion.

“Triumph Will Be Ours”

HOW COULD I FORGET!? The new opening is great! I just really, really enjoy it. It also gives us a look at a new character that took me quite a while to realize is most likely the Spring Maiden so...I FOUND HER.

It’s a good song, RWBY always has kickin songs!

ALL IN ALL! It was a great first chapter for this volume. I want more of everything and knowing there are 13 more chapters after this is SUCH A GREAT FEELING!

This episode was 20 minutes, that is the best way to kick off a volume. I think I read somewhere the standard length is about 15 and episode? Please don’t take my word for it but if it’s true...this is gonna be a long volume. Then again we’ve already got things like Red vs Blue Seasons 10 and 13 which are hours upon hours of content, so...yeah.

ToA Campaign Diary 1

The Dawn Chasers Part 1

We had our first season of the new campaign yesterday YAY! For those that don't know we are planning on doing Tomb if Annihilation but bc it doesn't come out until next week I got a one-shot that had to do with a boat to kinda carry us into it.

So we started in Waterdeep in a tavern called The Broken Lance. The group consisting of an Avariel Druid Princess -Solaris-, a Firbolg Mystic who disguises as a plain looking Human -Tytus-, a Dwarf Warlock (a Dwarlock as he likes saying) -Banthok-, a Halfling Bard -Isabele- and a Gnome Artificer -Noye-, all had know each other for the past few days looking for a boat to get to Chult but with no luck.

In the tavern there was a lot of people basically partying because a local fisherman had caught a enormous fish. Isabele, Noye and Solaris went over to see what the commotion was about and Isabelle ended up stealing some gold for one of the drunk men while they all tried hitting on Solaris. Being the naive girl Solaris is she had no idea how to get out of the situation and Noye ended up having to just get her out haha

Not long after a young woman in her early 20s came in and had the look and aura of a ships captain and sh sat with two large men at another table. Didn't take them long so wander over to her and ask if she was a captain of a ship as they needed to get to Chult. She laughed and said well that makes my night easier yes but I need bodyguards for hire before I can drop you off.

We then went into a skill challenge thing after they were told that they were gonna be her first line of defense and accompany her on shore on an island called the Moonshale Isles. Is was a Persausion skill challenge for how much money they would be getting paid and how much of the loot lol rolls were decent and got Max pay on their signing bonus and average on the day rate and as well on the salvage cut. But Banthok completely just said alright the loot percent will be 80/20 that's fine and Captain Moonlight was like oh ya sure. Which was the lowest haha if they had rolled they could have got up to 50% XD lol

After that they agreed got paid and headed to bed to leave in the morning. Where they went to the docks though Tytus and Banthok slept on the docks and there was a bit of a bad start with stubborn Banthok almost getting booted off the ship before it set sail XD there they met Paige and 12 year old girl that showed them around around and introduced them to some people. Banthok being a dwarf was not prepared to go on the ocean and was sick and they did have to roll a CON save every day of travel on the sea or get sick and gain a point of exhaustion for the next day unless they pass twice in a row then they were good and didnt have to make it. Isabele our sailor was perfectly fine and didnt have to make them, Noye and Tytus made the first two and Banthok and Solaris didn't (Banthok only passed 1/4 lol and now has 2 exhaustion points).

The first four days of sea travel went well and fairly smooth until the fourthday when Noye and one of the crew members Secna a female elf were up in the Crow's nest watching and saw another ship heading straight for them. Not long after the ship had gained on them they saw this heavily damaged ship with a crew of goblins! There was a stressful battle between Noye and the Goblin Captain firing back and forth at each other both small humanoids having half cover. Solaris was the first to fall unconscious when she flew up and threw her spear at a goblin but got pelted back with javelins. Isabele healed her back up but she fell again after the Goblin Captain grabbed her own spear against her knocking her out again. At this point most of the goblins are dead and about 5 of the shipcrew have dyed as well. There was also knocked prone Goblin fighting Tytus but as he ran off I rolled for a attack of opportunity with disadvantage and got two 20s and then proceeded to roll 100 on our crit and fumble chart which has never happened and it immediately knocked Tytus out bc he didn't make his CON save. Though I think it was suppose to outright kill him I didn't want to do that first session. After that his disguise self went away so everyone got to surprise that he isn't a 5' human but a 8'5" firbolg XD

Successful medicine checks came in and everyone one was fine after Captain Moonlight got a nat20 and killed the Goblin Captain! They then salvaged the other ship and didn't find much but a large bolted crate. After ripping it open Isabele quickly noticed under all the navigation devices and cutlery was a silver object shaped like a jagged triangle. Unsure what it was Noye ritual casted identify and and even after that she only found it be magical and that it can amplify lightning. This mysterious object was quickly ruled to be put underdeck and away so that it would be safe. She handed it to Captain Moonlight who put it in a locked case underdeck in the storage.

Only a few hours later a storm appeared nearly out of nowhere. Noye seeing this ran below deck with Moonlight to open the case and check on the item. Didn't seem to be doing much so be she tried to identify it again but didn't have enough time as the storm hit them within minutes and hard. Hard pelting down, lighting striking and waves crashing to them. In a panic everyone was running around and another skill challenge started with Captain Moonlight yelling at them to help around. My players had two choices go help Gregor the first make with pulling the mast being a strength skill challenge or help the Half-Orc crewmember Tog tying down shit. Tytus and Solaris went to help Gregor and Isabele and Noye went to Tog, while Banthok clug to the railings for dear life. The strength skill challenge was doing Athletics while the other was Slight of Hand, the Athletics went well with three passes in a row which is what they needed, while the Slight of Hand skill challenge lost the first passed the next and then proceeded to fail twice in a row which meant they failed. Tytus and Solaris gained a point of exhaustion while bc of the failed skill challenge Noye and Isabele gained two points of exhaustion. So now they all have exhaustion and r in the middle of a terrible storm! And the soon figured out the one that died...was Paige. 😰

So after the long wait, Yu-Gi-Oh Vrains is finally here and with that, the return of my...whatever the heck I do with this blog. Impressions? I guess that’s the best word I can use for this.

So with the start of Vrains, I wanted to make this seem more professional in a way. When a new episode comes out, I’m going to give my overall thoughts in a single post, kinda like a review, and then I’m going to make fun of it/rant if I have to (hopefully not as much as ARC-V or anytime soon for that matter) in other ones if I find something to add. So to put it in a nutshell, this post is going to be the review post/my thoughts and the others that follow after it are going to be other things related to the episode. Since we also got the Opening/Ending, I’m going to give my thoughts on them too but that’s going to be in its own post as well. 

So with that all out of the way, let’s drive into the Vrains!

Episode 1: My Name is Playmaker!

So we start off the episode with Revolver in what we can assume from what he says to be the world within Link Vrains, Cyverse, which he is outright about to destroy (well that was fast). He has seemed to have sealed away the lifeforms, similar to the one we know about already but in different color, that live/protect this world. There are five of them in total, six if you want to count the AI. Speaking of the AI, he was the only one to not be captured since he seemed to not be in area at the time of the attack because he’s hated by the other ones (looking forward to know more about that). Our little AI ends up sealing the access code for Cyverse into him, affectedly kicking out Revolver, along with himself, before he could destroy the world but in the process, Revolver ends up destroying the AI’s body (does that count as a death?) and turns him into what Revolver calls a “Ignis” which btw is what this AI program is called apparently. So yay, we finally have a name for him!

So after that whole ordeal, we have a time skip to five years into the future (geez, how old is Revolver then if he looks the exact same or does he just not age because he never leaves the VR world? Also, Yusaku would have been 11 when this first happened (and what is the deal with protagonists being 11 when everything goes to hell with them?) After getting a short tour of Den City, we cut to a shot of Yusaku as Playmaker dueling against a Knight of Haoni (and kicking his ass) with the Knight questioning who Yusaku is and why he would get in their way with Ignis watching from an gargoyle statue’s eye. Yusaku (who btw I didn’t expect to have such a deep voice after being used to Yuya’s for so long 0-0) calmly answers that he’s basically a superhero that will stop the Knights whenever they should appear and that his name was Playmaker.

So after the opening, we cut to a 11-year-old (I think he’s 11 because of the timeskip) Yusaku in a field of grass. A voice of a character I think we have yet to meet yet tells him to wake up and he does so to find himself in his classroom (wow, even Yusaku falls asleep in class XD)

So to summarizes this in a nutshell, Naoki explains to Yusaku about Link Vrains and calls him out about not having any friends (you’re nice) but Yusaku just doesn’t give a crap and it is hilarious to watch how many f*cks he gives about Naoki and whatever the heck he is saying (I love this guy already). Oh and Naoki starts fanboying over Playmaker as well in front of Yusaku (cross that one off for the Vrains bingo already). But the best part would have to be when Yusaku is leaving and Naoki offers to teach him how to duel, Yusaku gives him three reasons for why he would say no to this like such a smartass and Naoki’s reaction to this is golden LMAO. However, he also gives him three goods reasons to why he could say yes as well which I really like about Yusaku’s character right away. He’s rude but he’s not doing it to be mean. He’s just thinks from a statistical point of view which I can see character development for that right away (and I’m sticking to the fact that he could be a computer program even more from this because he really doesn’t show much human emotions).

So after cutting to a scene of Ignis being chased, we now go over to the SOL technology with Akira talking to...a chess piece. I’m not even kidding, he’s talking to a chess piece which apparently is Bishop...an actual chess piece bishop (well I honestly wasn’t expecting that of all things). We also see five other pieces before they disappear so I wonder if we are going to meet the “Pawn” or the “King” piece in the future? Are they a royal family that run SOL? It has got me thinking.

Anyway, the Bishop and Akira are talking about capturing Ignis as well, their reason being that they need him to reopen Cyverse since Link Vrains was only created because of the data gathered from there and with it closed off now, their company is slowly dying because of Link Vrains slowly dying (foreshadowing to a major crash maybe?) 

We now go back to the Knight’s hideout with Revolver and his right-hand man, Specter who is telling his boss man that they found Ignis and want to keep him away from SOL so they can’t bring back Cyverse. Specter also informs Revolver about Playmaker and he doesn’t appear to know the name (I’m still hoping that he does know Yusaku though). He tells him to just ignore Playmaker for now and focus on capturing Ignis. 

Now that we know why our two other groups want Ignis, we go back to Yusaku who is just hanging out now at his partner in crime, Shoichi, work place. Yusaku is asking who those people on the billboards are and Shoichi tells him about Blue Angel and Go along with telling Yusaku about the Data Storm along with Speed Duels. It is interesting to note that when Shoichi said Speed Duel, Yusaku almost looked to be getting a flashback to that grassy land (I’m REALLY starting to think he came from Cyverse and that would explain his deck choice).

So after apologizing and Yusaku telling Shoichi he’s doing this on his own free will, he asks him if he has found out any new leads which he has being Ignis and I just find it funny how Yusaku, after hearing this, just casually outright closes up the food truck for the night XD I would have died of laughter if someone just went up to the truck at that moment, about to ask for a hot dog, and Yusaku just says “sorry, we are closed” and just slams the door on them.

So after figuring out that SOl and Hanoi want Ignis, Yusaku plans to capture the AI to use as his “trump card” (I still love the OP FYI) against them. And like freaking bosses, they are able to do this in a matter of seconds (geez, Yusaku is a freaking genius 0-0) It is also interesting to note that Yusaku seems to be able to sense it...(the foreshadowing to him being an AI as well is so easy to notice now after all the ARC-V foreshadowing). 

But before that actually happens, Akira and Bishop talk about lowing the security to be able to find Ignis which Akira refuses to do because he’s afraid of the Knights attacking while their defenses are down while at the same time, Go and Blue Angel are about to have duels for the public. Naoki is watching from the crowd with fans for Blue Angel and Go and fanboying some more. 

So regardless, SOL does a massive city wide scan for Ignis and knowing that Vrains’ defenses will be down now, Revolver, being the smug bastard that he is (I’m loving this guy already too) goes to unleash an attack with one of his knights and to find Ignis. 

But seriously, I love how smug he looks when he finds this out. I really hope he will be my new Yuri to Yusaku’s Yuya (and yes, I do still hope they are brothers but I can’t help but ship it almost...don’t judge me...)

So yeah, in a matter of seconds, the Knight and his Cracking Dragon broke through the firewall and out right just starts murdering everyone it comes across. I mean, after the whole Zarc thing and with me currently watching season 2 of Attack on Titan, I seen worse but damn, the first episode and we already have a death count? Nice Vrains. I’ll give you that.

Okay, I’ll admit, this part annoyed the hell out of me but knowing who the writer is, I’m not even surprised. So to put this into another nutshell, Blue Angel is in trouble and Yusaku goes into Vrains and saves her as Playmaker (I really hope to god this is only a one time thing for Aoi’s character -_- (same with the rest of the females but I know for a fact it isn’t and I expect Aoi to gain a crush on Playmaker from this while Aoi might hate Yusaku in the real world knowing this troupe).

So after that annoying ass save, Yusaku threatens to delete Ignis if the Knight doesn’t stop his attack (damn, that is dark for a Yu-Gi-Oh  protagonist (told you guys he was going to be an anti-hero and a major one at that from the looks of things). He also tells the Knight that Ignis is now a dueling program (Decode Talker theory is coming closer to being real) and that he will only give the Knight Ignis if he beats him in a duel. 

So they are about to start a duel and Ignis out right tells Yusaku he can’t beat the Cracking Dragon so he uses his powers to unlock the Data Storm and gives Yusaku his hoverboard and the episode ends with Ignis declaring this as a Speed Duel. 

So yeah, that was episode one of Vrains. No actual duels, unless you want to count that one at the beginning, but a lot of set up in terms of story. I honestly love what they have done this time around with their protagonist. After the whole Egao mess, it is nice to see this show become dark, super dark from the looks of things, and to have someone like Yusaku as our new lead. I also love the foreshadowing we have got right off the bat in terms of Yusaku and I can’t wait to see what actually he is in the late future. However, I admit I stopped enjoying the episode a lot when the whole “Playmaker saying Blue Angel” bit happened. Again, I shouldn’t be surprised but god, it is still annoying regardless. I’m really scared for Aoi now honestly.

So, on a scale of 1-10, how do I score this episode (in my opinion):

Episode 1: My Name is Playmaker! : 6/10

I wish I could give this episode a higher score for being the first episode but with this episode being pure plot, it was hard to understand what was going on when I first watched it raw and the first viewing is always what makes me enjoy the episode more or not in the long run and I enjoy episodes more if I have an idea of what is going on. There was also the fact that there was no dueling in this episode which took out some of the main action for the series (and I’m just honestly surprised that they let this happen since they are trying to sell cards after all). Also, like I’ve stated, the Blue Angel part REALLY left a bad taste in my mouth. However, I did enjoy the first half a lot. I love Yusaku not giving a sh*t throughout the beginning XD

Now onto the courts:

Death Count: 0 - 5.5 (I saw at least five people getting blasted by Cracking Dragon and Ignis’s body was destroyed but he wasn’t killed so I’m counting that as a half death I suppose).

Damsel in Distress Court: 0 - 1 (Yes this is going to be a thing and Aoi might be on here a lot). 

So yeah, that about does it. After resting my eyes for a bit, since this took a while to write, I’m going to be doing my thoughts on the opening and ending and then I’m going to do what I like to do the most, making fun of the episode. I hope you guys like this new system I guess you can call it that I’m trying out for Vrains and yeah.
