honestly it’s so wild because i’m very aware that this is in NO way akin to any serious playwriting or drama work, but it’s STILL wild that i managed to create a situation wherein i get to write, cast, direct, and act in my own play that is going to be held in a big fancy mansion and people are going to pay money to see. like. hello?????

big thing about the terror is how it treats every single death as a massive tragedy. from the death of david young in the first episode through every horror that follows every death scene is given enormous weight in the narrative, it never once feels like anyone is expendable despite most of the cast really not mattering that much. it's such a good choice to make tonally in a show about how these people are simultaneously tools of british colonialism and victims of the indifferent imperial machine.

This part has provided and honestly confirmed an insight that's been implied occasionally, but never openly stated as much as this moment.

Arcanists are less durable.

It's mentioned a handful of times how it's important for combat between arcanists to be quick and efficient. While they can be physically strong even beyond human standards, their limits are far shorter in comparison. They're far more prone to taking physical and mental damage quicker with their quick healing/recovery to make up for it, but not change just how fragile they are.

This is very insightful too as to why arcanists would be more inclined to fight using arcanum instead of physically as much as possible. Their arcanum gives them an upper hand where their physical stamina is lacking.

eddie is this perfectly steady-seeming person who buck has happily decided to use as his sole anchor point to reality. unfortunately eddie is in actuality a tar pit that sometimes dramatically gives way but more often than not is just slowly sinking and therefore bringing bucks reference point for What's Normal down with him

they honestly couldve done so much with junpei beheaded/dismembered and im disappointed that it ended up just being mira. so much of his character and his relationship with akane is characterized by his lack of bodily autonomy, and him being openly beheaded during the nonary games would be the ultimate example of this. its perhaps the most brutal death in the game, and it never really gets explained or developed beyond the one puzzle that we get with it. junpei has been shown repeatedly to be subject to akane's plans or follow her blindly and i just think that would have been a really interesting angle to approach his beheading from. junpei has willingly signed up for nonary games in two different timelines just because he knew he would see her. he was infected with a deadly virus trying to find her. he grew desensitized to death as he took underground jobs to try and find her. his safety always comes second when shes in the picture, and his beheading wouldve been a prime opportunity to 1. exploit his willingness to let himself die/be injured for her and 2. make akane confront the fact that her confidence that junpei will always follow after her is not necessarily a positive thing.
